Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6207 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very poor effort at 28 Dec 2010 09:01:55 AM
Our broadband service constantly drops out. We have to reconnect on average 5-10 times per day. The signal is pathetic with it constantly allowing just a dribble of information through - so painful. Complaints to Vodaphone have been of little help. Poor customer service.

Pyrmont NSW 2009. Have had prepaid Vodafone Mobile Broadband for one year and have given up on using it at home and gone back to my Unwired service which in comparison is ultra reliable. Wish I knew earlier that others were experiencing same problems I would have complained earlier. I just rolled over and copped it as a bad transaction, you know, one of those things you just let go and move on.

i purchased a $50 prepaid internet stick which worked fine for the first month, once i recharged though, thats when the problems began with vodafone's reception, i could not link to the internet and calling customer service was futile, i ended up taking it back to the store and getting a refund. i lost the whole 2gig recharge and over a week worth of productivity. they gave me back the purchase price of the stick but not the recharge value. im on a pension and cant afford to be RIPPED OFF FOR $30 BY A COMPANY THAT HAS MILLIONS

6192 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a total con at 28 Dec 2010 08:55:55 AM
After five hours at least trying to get through to someone to cancel my data service, I finally got to speak to someone but they had no authority to cancel anything. This happened several times. I went in to a store and they and their head office contact had no authority. They are trying to make it impoossible to cancel an expired contract. A total con and totally illegal. I will be joining any class actiion. Their data service doe not work in most locations( and all they do is tell you to download the wrong software from their site if you get through to technical support)

6186 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 08:52:03 AM
After 3 months of poor data speeds, very limited reception (lower north shore of Sydney)and call drop outs, I finally pulled the plug on Vodafone after a formal complaint to the TIO. Even after I cancelled my contract and ported to another carrier, I received a call from Vodafone advising the network issues had been resolved! Yeah right!!! The rest of my family are on Vodafone and needless to say I know they are having the same issues...All I can say is Vodafone really need to lift their game, and please, please, please, move your customer service team back to Australia!!!

6183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is cronick fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:49:19 AM
a few months back i decided to upgrade my mobile broadband and went out and bought vodafone (was previously using 3). i used vodafone before and had no problems, so i did the usual, checked the coverage area and according to that i had perfect coverage, but couldnt log in to even register let alone get online. so i contacted vodafone and suprise suprise they didnt believe me so they registered me over the phone. continual problems so i went into one of the vodafone shops and guess what... i get told that networks will be disrupted during the combining of the vodafone and 3 networks, ok they claimed its only meant to be temporary and only during office hours. so i returned back to using my 3 mobile broadband, now since the towers and networks have been combined, i have more problems then before. My net drops out on average every 5 minutes and what's worse between the hours of 5pm -7pm daily, i cant make phone calls, my phone shows full signal yet it tells me "no network coverage". now i use prepaid and cant get any compensation for my problems, so i hope you guys get everything back and more.

I have been with this company for a number of years first with pre paid now on a cap I have been on a Cap now for about 1 and a half years since voda merge with 3 it has been nothing but frustrating timewasting stressful , first of all I singed a contract for a service strongly pushing my points as mentioned frustrating - calls droping out after 1 minute not just once on a number of occasions, getting text messages a day or even a week later, getting voice mail messages a day or even a week later, phone not ringing when has full service and goes strait to voice mail mmm. Time wasting- ringing up voda - explaing my problems waiting over 1 hr sometimes to speak to someone that does not understand and blames apple iPhone when I have tried another phone whipped the sim card and other people are experiencing same problems being transfered to supervisors and team leaders, contacting the tio and also Tasmania that gave me another phone that does exactly the same thing hours of my time emails what happen to customer service ? Stressing - paying for a service that your not getting telling me to go the the apple shop to check my phone what a joke voda supplied it my time once again , vodaphone this is beyond a joke as a loyal person pays bills on time you sure know how to loose my buisness once was a good company now I have lost respect, and can't even get out of my contract I have tried many of times just basicaly put up with it shame on you vodaphone

I have complained to vodafone many times about echo in the phone, not just slight echo, huge echo, I hear myself talk perfectly the second time, also the people
I ring say they hear the echo too and it puts them off talking to me and finish the call quickly. Vodafone say to me, it's your phone get a new one, but it happens on all phones. When I visit Bellingen I get nill coverage, so I am unable to call anyone, not even 000 if needed.

6173 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:45:49 AM
My partner and I have been Vodafone customers for 6-7 years now, after starting out on prepaid we were spending to much money so we decided to go on a cap. Vodafone had always worked so well for us and the caps were always so much more affordable and since we both travelled so much for work this was always our best option and we were always happy. But since renewing our plan and increasing our cap from $49 to the $79 cap in Dec 2009 we have been nothing but dissappointed. Firstly, I entered into a new plan a week before going overseas for a holiday. On my return 2 weeks later I had a bill for over $2000, I knew I had not used my phone that much whilst overseas, especially not enough to accrue a bill of that amount, after finally reaching them, they explained that I had 'apparently' cancelled a contract on 07 Dec, funny that, when it was impossible as I had only just signed 2 new contracts and on the date I was meant to have cancelled a contract in Australia, I was in Rome!!!! They eventually (after several phone calls to vodafone and the retailer where this apparently happened) they removed the fee. This however was just the beginning of a very disappointing run with Vodafone. Our caps vary so much, we are constantly shocked at the cost of our bills, knowing we do not vary our calls that much from month to month yet they are always over cap and sometimes by over $200. When I was with Telstra, if they could see your cap going over alot or not workng out, they used to contact you and talk through some ideas to better suit your calling patterns (this has never happened with Vodafone, they just want our money, there is no customer sevice) We have recently moved to a large inland NSW town, where you would expect to get full coverage, we get nothing and still have 12 months left on our plan. For our jobs, we both get moved regularly, we have been from Brisbane, to Sydney to Newcastle and until the past few months, have had no problems with reception. Now, even back in Sydney for christmas (a capital city), we get nothing, in a CAPITAL city, how can you get no coverage?? I was sent picture messages on Christmas day of my family as I was unable to be with them, some I received 3 and 4 days later, most I still have not received 5 days later. We can have full netowrk coverage and 3G activated, attempt to log onto the internet and wait for up to 10mins before it even looks like connecting, you would think if you have reception you could utilise the service. This is unacceptable, we pay for a service that we can not even use...... RUBBISH!! I have not been reveiving bills either via the mail or e-mail, I am just receiving text saying my bill is overdue, this is not acceptable. I have attempted to call several times to discuss my issues however after it cutting out and then being on hold for 30mins plus, and then for them to say they will redirect me and be taken back to the voice activated main menu AGAIN and AGAIN and get no where I have given up. I WANT OUT!!

I am experiencing issues both on my internet and my phone. Sometimes I can access internet from both pc and phone, other times neither. Very intermittent. Calls to customer service leave me frustrated and angry as they cannot help me and one rep even suggested it was my browser and with my phone, said it was my handset (which it wasn't). I am amazed that I can actually get onto the internet today to get onto this website which I heard about on the radio this morning. To say I am dissatisfied is an understatement. I want out Vodafone!

6165 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetically fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:43:55 AM
Signed up with '3' a year ago. Early teething problems but got over it. Then Vodaphone took over 3 and they didnt even bother to tell us, their valuable customers-no email, no nothing. I had a period of 4 days just after Vodafail took them over, where I had no service at all, but didnt realise that I was missing so many calls, mostly work related.
Since then its been excessive bills, dropouts, areas in Australia'a biggest city, Sydney, which have NO coverage!! This is the 21st century. I had a better mobile phone service in the 90's. I still have another year with these losers. How do I get out of it, but even more so, how do I find a decent Australian mobile phone providor- they're all crap. And believe me, I've tried them all.

I am a relatively new customer to Vodafone - four months on contract. At first I thought I was having problems with my handset: poor reception (often none at all!) call dropouts and very poor call quality. But then is poke with other vodafone customers and they mentioned similar problems and advised that Vodafone were upgrading their network. It's been 4 months of frustration and the network issues poor reception /call quality / dropouts) are still occurring! Very poor performance Vodafone!

6140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is They are an embarassment, a disgrace and an insult at 28 Dec 2010 08:26:22 AM
I have been having problems with vodafone coverage on my iPhone for over two years.

In Sept (2010) I became aware that I was unable to send email from my phone. Since then I have spent literally hours waiting to get through to so called customer service. The wait was never less than 50 minutes and on one occasion I held out for one hour and fifty. The excuse was always the same - external ISP's were blocking the vodafone outgoing server because of a spam issue! A vodafone technical rep told me on one occasion that the problem was affecting approx 40% of the vodafone customer base. (Wouldn't you think that would be sufficient enough to go public on the matter and let people know there was an issue - if for no other reason than to put additional pressure on the alleged ISP's?) But not vodafone. Sweep it under the carpet and tell people all will be fixed up in a 'few days'! What a joke!

After weeks of this 'service' and leaving messages for someone from Customer Service to call me I contacted the TIO. At least that got a response but (irony or ironies) due to poor coverage everytime someone called me the call dropped out! However, when I did manage to call back immediately on the number that came up on my mobile I got a message to the effect of 'this person is not taking voice messages' or we cannot take your call right now please call back later'. As I said, 'customer service'!!!

In the midst of all this I got a letter from the vodafone Resolutions Team saying they had tried to contact me and if I didn't contact them by the 18th Dec they would consider my complaint resolved. Rich or what. I promptly replied saying if I hadn't heard from them by the 18th Dec I would take it they were accepting my position that they were in breach of their contractual duties and they were accepting that I was released from my contract with no further payments required.

LAst week I finally managed to get a call from a gentleman at their Resolutions Team who offered to release me from my contract but asked me to pay $600 in order to be able to keep the iPhone. I refused and put the proposition that as a good will gesture for the disgraceful service, time lost, disruption etc they should cancel the contract and offer the phone as a good will gesture. The person I spoke to was talk to his supervisor and get back to me. I'm still waiting.

In short, vodafone is a disgrace as a national carrier, an embarassment to the telecommunications industry and an insult to its customers.

I will be contacting the legal firm considering the class action and making all my records - dates, times, mobile numbers for vodafone staff as well as copies of all my correspondence with both vodafone and the TIO available to support the action.

It is great to see this web site and congratulations to those involved. I considered setting one up myself at one point but opted instead to try and raise the issue through some other channels, including Talk Back radio but without any success.

I am happy to be involved in any future activities on this matter and vodafone in general because 'service' of this 'quality' should not be kept a secret!

Rgds

Jordan
28 Dec 2010 09:51:22 AM: Jordan - what was the outcome of your TIO complaint?
28 Dec 2010 07:21:48 PM: They have given Vodafone 20 days to respond to my follow up compliant about missed / dropped calls from their Resolution Team and the fact that I could not get through to the numbers those calls came from. My complaint has been escalated to a Level 2 complaint. I am happy with the TIO's response. At least it got vodafone act. I should have mentioned above that vodafone has been aware of the outgoing email issue since August. As per my post above I expect vodafone to release me from my contract (I've been with them ten years), waive outstanding bills and I will now galdly return the iPhone. I'll keep you briefed.

Not only does my calls drop out continuously, but their customer service is non existent.

I bought a $200 Vodafone touch screen from a Vodafone shop in Eastgardens Mall. I had to send it back three times to be repaired. The customer service, said they would only send me a phone through the post, they would not give me a fone to the same value, nor would they refund the balance, and the shop said they didn't exchange phones. I had no place to turn except to Department of Fair Trading.

My USB stick rarely works and my iPhone performance is very disappointing on the web - Vodafone's technical support is laughable and when I couldn't get any email/web coverage at all (twice - once for 3 days and once for 2 in the last year) they even denied there was a problem! Funny though, how they added credit card charges when they wanted to and there was nothing we customers could do about it and they can afford to pour multi-millions into sports sponsorship eg cricket and motor racing.

The only way i have been able to get incontact with vodafone was by email, because i tried by phone and no one could help me, i went to vodafone shops and same problem no one can help me.
Finally after a dozen emails back and forth to vodafone they agreed to give me 3 months free.
But still this didnt fix my problem with no network coverage.
I have kep all their emails and i will be planing to take further action about the problem after January 10th , as in my emails it states that everything will be fixed by that date!

6089 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Wanna punch some joker level of fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:57:12 AM
I have a voda pre-paid phone and internet dongle, so will have my bit to say about both.

The dongle: Now what can i say about service here. started off good, and seemed like a good plan, started doing a online course, then a few weeks (september) into it the connection seemed like it would rival dial up for slowest speed ever and got to the point i couldn't even get to do my course material, so i had to defer for the rest of the semester or get a fail grading, unfortunately this happened after the census date (which means now i have to pay for 2 units which i didn't even get to do). I tried calling customer help, which when i eventually got around to being able to talk to them, told me that i was in a bad reception area, total crap as it had been working good before that.

The phone is a different problem where i see if you get told you are getting vodafone to vodafone credits, then you should be able to contact other vodafone users, does that sound right to you? WRONG, after using standard credit, i couldn't contact anyone much less anyone i knew who has a vodafone account. Secondly, is that with txt messaging, sometimes the messages i get aren't coming thru and some messages i send aren't getting to the person i sent them too. i'm not gonna get into describing the shit that has caused as it would take all day to type.
28 Dec 2010 10:02:28 AM: Were you one wireless? A fault may have developed in one of the towers in your area or there may be overselling. When you buy wireless vodafail you are told about coverage - but there is no mention of connectivity or congestion.

For some ISPS there are plans where if you exceed your download you are not chargedmore, they slow your connection. So it is apparent that some ISPS have control over the speed of connection. As a general technical question, if an ISP were to oversell its wireless service, would a deliberate dropping of the speed of connection of customers enable them to keep more people on line? Even though their connection speed was much reduced.

My wife and I became Vodaphone Customers 5 weeks ago,my wife is almost due with our second child and we have a 4 year old autistic son so we needed a decent mobile phone service. When we went to sign the contracts we specifically asked and were shown that we were in a zone that was green representing that we had good service. We live in the Newcastle Region. The frustration we have faced ever since is unbelievable, and to speak to a vodaphone was impossible, I spent over 30 mins waiting for a billing enquiry then a further 90 minutes waiting to speak to someone about our service difficulties, my wife and I were sitting in the same room and we couldn't get service.
when I got the ombudsman involved after several attempts to speak to vodaphone, my wife and I were ready to get out of the contracts, they tried to stall us and took several conversations with various people before they accepted blame and said we could send our handsets back without penalty which was a week ago and my wife checked our accounts last night and they have penalised us for contract termination, once again we are being lied too and will be seeking help from the mobile ombudsman.
28 Dec 2010 08:04:09 AM: Hi 6086 if you ported to another carrier the system will charge the early exit fee but that is wiped off when the handset is returned.

Ive been on Vodaphone for a few years now and I live in a flat in Neutral Bay overlooking North Sydney. Whilst the service has been OK (not good) in the last few years , in the last 3 months I get NO SERVICE between 8am and 10:30 :and NO SERVICE between 4pm and 7:30. The rest of the time I'm constantly getting dropped out. Have to say you get much better reception in country areas of third world countries I've been to than North Sydney CBD. Also Ive just got my bill for the month and my $69 capped bill came in at $180! Ive been trying to speak to Vodaphone for days about it but to no avail.

6077 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ENGINEERED FAILURE at 28 Dec 2010 07:54:13 AM
Same as everybody else. I actually used to work for Vodafone 5 years ago when they were a very progressive, customer orientated organisation with local call centres in Tasmania and a customer'service' ethic. It is embarassing to see what has happened to them, particularly since the merger with Hutchison "3". They have lost focus on the customer, have rushed "half-baked", poorly tested technology into the market-place and hidden behind a wall of bureacracy rather than address each customer's specific issues. This never happened in the past when Vodafone was a "challenger" brand in Australia, eager to offer the best deals, progressive technology and great customer experience. The race to transform into one of the big players (Telstra/Optus)driven by the new Hutchison "3" leadership team, has failed to recognise that you can only get there if you look after your customers and treat them like gold. Prior to this website, I am certain that Vodafone assured themselves that disgruntled individual customers would never be able to bring them into account for their poor performance. It appears that people power is alive and well thanks to the internet where the silent majority now have the most powerful Voice, strong enough to bring this arrogant organisation into account.
28 Dec 2010 08:01:07 AM: Great analysis....this is the root cause of the issues...imo, when this site clicks through 10k complaints..some senior execs from Newbury may be headed to our sunshine if they can get out of Heathrow! I have used the Network around the globe, the local management here are damaging a solid Global brand.

6075 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Typical at 28 Dec 2010 07:53:28 AM
I have two phones: one for work and one for personal use. One's with 3 and the other, Vodafone. I find when one drops out of service - so does the other. Funny that? In fact, there are certain blackspots around Sydney where there's absolutely no reception: the M5 east tunnel, M7 - between Horsley and Elizabeth Drive, and my house. So what do I do... call from a land line. Otherwise, there's no point blasting one service provider when the others are the same...
28 Dec 2010 08:53:12 AM: Since their merge, 3 and Vodafone are sharing the same backhaul and switching systems hence the cause. Besides, the merge looks more like a takeover by vodafone to me

(02) 94157000 is the Vodafone head office number in North Sydney.
When prompted, press 1 for the main switchboard. They should be able to direct you to someone in Sydney who will be able to assist.
They will be re-opening tomorrow after a public holiday today.

Lara sounds very much like my beloved adopted daughter. Why do I want to strangle her? Beautiful voice, abysmal programming.
Rapidly degrading service in my region, and most places I visit. Curiously, city centres seem great - except that I don't often visit them. Call drop-outs, erratic 3G data connection.
28 Dec 2010 07:57:34 AM: I agree with your comments concerning Vodafone's Lara. Any time I have phoned I tend to become very frustrated and want to yell "Get me a human being"

6056 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA FAILED at 28 Dec 2010 07:44:57 AM
Since October 2010, Vodafone has failed to send any form of invoice to me on "what" to pay them for their monthly bill.

I called them and asked them to correct it and they told me to prevent my phone being "cut off" they would extend it and I needed to pay right away (which was the reason for my call anyway).

I paid the bill and in December recieved an email invoice from them, for some reason they've completely stopped sending land based invoices and from no instruction from me to stop doing that.

In November, I dialled the Vodafone SMS balance service and it stated I have a bill that is overdue and was $199, my cap plan is $129 / month, no-one could explain that one.

And I can't seem to easily get through to them no matter how much I call them.

Vodafone kept assuring us it must have ben the phone. When we took the phone into the vodafone shop, the staff blatantly stole the iPad out of the handbag whilst awaiting a new sim. The new sim had no service and the staff refused to show us the security camera footage to report the theft of the iPad to the police. The iPad was returned by the shop the following day. The new sim has had minimal bars of service.

6039 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is where do I start? at 28 Dec 2010 07:40:05 AM
I had been a faithful customer of "VodaSucks" to the point I had 2 phones and a USB modem with them all on post paid. after not being able to contact my partner who worked all over the country side with his job I became more and more frustrated. As for the USB modem well lets just say if you are running a small business from you home computer do not rely on that. Anyway I rang the call centre only to be out sourced to speak to some one posing as an American to cover the Indian accent (GRRRRRRR) I asked how much it would be to get out of my contract as I was over not being able to speak to my partner due to him never having reception. the Person gave me some "who ha" that the phone should only work perfectly in the billing area????? what the hell is that crap? they claim that they have towers every where yet for some reason conveniently they didnt happen to have one in the area he was staying at the time...or the time before or the time before that. so anyway they told me it would cost a small fortune to get both numbers out of the contract but would look into waving the fee for my partners phone. after telling me this was they case but I would have to pay for my number to be dropped I decided it was better to move on and pay my way out. when I got my last bill surprise surprise I was charged for both.... this story will be continued as I am looking in to getting the whole thing waved.
But wait there is more back to the USB I still had time left on my contract for that when I decided to got with Big pond so I told my mum to give me the $40 per month so my younger sisters could use it. all was goo until one of my sisters mates stole the SIM card out of it. anyway we soon figured this out and let Vodafone know so they could cancel the SIM. how ever they didnt so I got this massive bill for Phone calls made from the SIM. after 2 hours or more on the phone to the Indian call centre I finally go it waved but had to pay for they over expense and to cancel the contract.

Have been with Vodafone for the past six years. Like a relationship it started out well. A year and a half ago I upgraded to an iPhone with a new contract. The relationship seemed better than ever, until a few months ago. First I thought it was nothing.... The sudden drop out, the delayed messages. Everyone goes through it right??? Well it don't stop, now I can't even make the shortest of call without the network dropping out. The constant change of mind- no service to full 3G service in less than 10 seconds, backwards and forwards. I'm losing my patience. I don't think this is working out.

I have been with Vodafone for 14 months. I have numerous drop outs. Sometimes I have to try more than 10 times to get a call through to my husband. IF I have an urgent call to make I now use a land line. And to top it off I have an iphone which would be great to use if theinternet connection worked. I can't connect to anything so I don't know why I am paying for this service. I also made a complaint. I tried the telephone and had to wait 40 minutes. SO I left an internet complaint and they never GOT BACK TO ME. iN FACT THEY SET UP THEIR COMLAINTTS SYSTEM SO THEY WANT YOU TO CONFIRM YOU COMPLAINT IN SUCH A WAY THAT YOU CAN'T FOLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS. I'M OVER VODAFONE.

Signed up contract 2 months ago (end of October 2010) and:

- Almost no signal in the house.
- 50% of the times calls goes straight to voice mail. My girlfriend had serious arguments with me on this, thinking I turned off my phone. Also missed many important calls from other parties.
- Bills in advance. I am on a $79 iPhone plan and already got billed 3 times (3x$79). Why do they do this? I don't even know how it works!
- Mobile internet is often a disgrace.
- Waited 1 hour on customer service line.
- Could not be bothered to contact them again.

Money much better spent elsewhere.

6016 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is abhorrent at 28 Dec 2010 07:27:32 AM
Vodafone,
Your network is in serious need of an overhaul, your customer service is abysmally disgusting and your excuses and apologies are offensive. This should have been fixed months ago.

You need to get off your metaphorical backsides and do all you can to fix it. You need to come clean with exactly what is wrong with your network, how you intend to fix it and how long it will actually take to fix it (none of this 'we think it will take...' banter, we've already had enough of that).

It's clear that the problems you are having with your network are not software problems. Before anything is rolled out to a production system, it should be tested and tested and tested, then tested again for good measure. I find it hilarious, but at the same time frighteningly disturbing that a 'software fault' was able to cause these problems. I find it disturbing that it has taken so long for it to be fixed, and even when you claim the problem has been fixed, a large number of your customers still say it has not been fixed.

You need to dump any off-shore customer call centres you have and start employing Australian people in Australian based call centres. The customer service you are currently providing (or lack there of) is pitiful. You knew that there was a problem, yet the customer service 'representatives' that you employ off-shore still read from the script they have been provided and really didn't give a rodent's backside whether the issue was known or not. "Yes, I have turned my phone on and off. Yes, I have reset my phone. Yes, I have tried another SIM card. Yes, I have tried another phone." Sound familiar? They were retroactive and not proactive, which has destroyed your image. Customer Service is everything. I don't own a business and yet I know this basic principle, something which you need to be educated on. There is no point in selling a product if you can't even back it up.

You need to stop making excuses and claims that you're "working on it". We are sick and tired of it. These excuses and lies are inflicting untold and widespread damage to your brand, image and reputation: all of the media coverage, social networking coverage and this website on this issue are undeniable examples of this fact.

I was once in high regard of Vodafone but after witnessing and being subject to your disregard with your customers and service, you are not even an after-thought, I actively discourage anyone from signing with you because of these problems, even on a pre-paid based service, you're just not worth it. Customers will pay more for a service that works! I can tell you now, your current behaviour and attitude will not fix things, you will only exacerbate the vast damage that is being inflicted to your image (and later on down the track, profits, as that all that seems to matter to Vodafone).

Case-in-point, despite all of the customer complaints of poor service and poor customer service (because of capacity issues, one would assume considering the problems described by others are further reaching than a 'software fault'), you still decided to go ahead and aggressively market your 'Infinite cap' plans. Now, if you're suffering from capacity issues (that is not enough hose for the water you're trying to deliver, so to speak, since it seems you need to be educated on this), won't the rolling out of these plans make the problem worse?

Use logic, Vodafone, seriously! Fix your network first! Like I said, there is no point in selling a product if you can't support it. In fact, it's driving your customers away, and placing you in bad stead with the ACCC, the TIO and future customers because they're seeing all of this negative publicity.

I've had enough. I'm off to Telstra. Paying more for a service that works is a bloody sight better than what a joke of a service you are offering. I gather many feel the same.

And that is putting it nicely.
30 Dec 2010 07:42:39 PM: Well said and i echo you thoughts too, as do many of us up here in the Hunter Valley in NSW, the service is just SHIT, no other word for it... And like you i will be changing to Telstra in the new year... Good on you Vodafone, telsta love you, all the way to the bank....
2 Jan 2011 06:22:55 AM: Well said.If my small business were to get paid for not providing services while agressively seeking more customers to not provide them with services and charge them, I wouldbe prosecuted.
5 Jan 2011 09:30:03 PM: Thats a bit harsh, they have acknowledged there are problems and as a result are busy recruiting thousands of people to do an audit of the systems failures.Any idea what such an audit would cost them?
5 Jan 2011 09:31:54 PM: Its free, theyve conned the gullible sustomers into keeping logs...days,dates,times,location,tyopes of failures!
7 Jan 2011 02:39:05 PM: My bestie worked for VP in their tech department - building/fixing networks etc.... has done for 14yrs. He has always supported VP... UNTIL NOW! or until mid last year. He thinks they are a joke. He says they don't listen to what the IT techs say is needed. They refuse to admit they have no idea re the problems. He says resetting, new Sims etc are a joke and they do it so it appears they are "doing something" He now uses Telstra. And he has left VP.
I changed from "3" to VP because "3" had coverage and customer service issues only to discover VP has bought "3" and they too have coverage and customer service issues. They wont let me out of my contract and I am forced to suffer at the hands of their incapabilities. I have 12 months left on my contract and it cant come soon enough! What a waste of money, time and effort!
9 Jan 2011 02:59:05 PM: whos VP???? lol
9 Jan 2011 04:33:10 PM: Haha lol, u are so funny, a comic genius, my sides are hurting
10 Jan 2011 09:53:07 AM: To play Devil's Advocate for a moment - if the call centres were to be moved back onshore, running costs for the customer service staff would triple. That's around 2000-3000 staff per week to multiply it by (just added that in for scope). This affects prices of plans, ability to expand/maintain networks, and overall revenue to invest money back into the company.

As you can guess, I used to work for VF. The culture there was always amazing, more pre-merger. Nigel Dews, CEO, always pushed employees to do the right thing, for customer experience. It just so happens that they're not very good at it. It seems that once a Telco hits X number of customers, it becomes unmanagable. The shame of it is that none of the Telcos are good on a mass scale. Telstra has great coverage, but it's expensive and provides poor customer service (even from an industry level). Optus is mid-range, fairly much across the board. VF is the most competitive price-wise, which has overloaded their network with people wanting a good deal, and it's why you spend X hours getting your issues resolved.

I left VF because I couldn't deliver promises to customers any more. I couldn't sell products and keep my integrity. You're never going to please everyone, but there should be balance.

In a nutshell, if you don't like the service you're getting, use your consumer sovereignty and don't re-sign with them.
23 Jan 2011 08:27:18 PM: Forget theNUTSHELL and the not resigning crap, go to tio, get out of your contract and move on to bigger and better things now. I did, piece of cake, I am pleased

6 months ago I paid $150 for a Vodafail prepaid wireless broadband dongle (12GB of data/12 months to use). I have never seen the reception meter showing more than 3 out of five 'bars' of service while my prepaid mobile sits beside my computer with full service coverage. I have been on xmas holidays since 17-12-10 and have managed to connect to the net during my holiday perhaps once per every 50 attempts, but when I do finally connect the service drops out before I can open a web page (using a friend's Optus broadband to write this). Of course I contacted customer support and spoke to some arrogant guy sitting in a call centre in India who informs me that the service has suffered some congestion over the xmas period and I should try to be patient. Customer service? I would love to join a class action against Vodafone, WHERE THE HELL DO I SIGN?

All the locals knew there was no service out once you pass Dubbo,Why is this not advertised? I then could not use a $40 PRE-PAID as my phone is locked to the network, that is bordering on criminal and denies me my right to a working service!
28 Dec 2010 09:57:43 AM: get you phone unlocked! By law, they have to unlock it if you choose. I got mine unlocked by a Pakistani with a center aisle booth in a shopping centre, who sold phone accessories. He charged me $20 and no I can use ANYBODY'S card

I have a iPhone 3GS & since havign it, I have struggled to get reception. Every call i make drops out & the phone is constantly searching for a network! On the 1st (27/11) of 4 phone calls to my "supposed service provider" i was told that the problem would be investigated & someone would be in touch & i received a text stating the same thing - then nothing! I rang for the last time 2 weeks ago only to be told that it had been investigated & the case was now closed & here's the best bit - apparently "someone" from vodafone had rang me & told me the outcome. Finally after being bounced around from department to department, Vodafone admitted there are "blackout" problems with the area i live in so i was offered to change plans (to their new infinate plan) given the next 2 mths plan fee free & told that after christmas eveything will be so much better because they are currently "improving" the strength of coverage ... well its after christmas & guess what? ... nothing has changed!

5986 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Drop out, long time to receive messages and goes straight to voicemail at 28 Dec 2010 07:11:29 AM
I am getting more than a little tired of trying to phone family members who are on vodaphone and just going straight through to voicemail...my husband, son and daughter experimented recently, when we phoned each other (all in the same room, phones switched on), it went straight to voicemail, we left messages...but low and behold...according to our phones there were no messages. Lots of drop out in the middle of a call (not good when finding out your father has had a heart attack I can tell you). When I visit people in Maitland I have to leave their house and go to the shopping centre to be able to make a call...how the hell is that right.

5984 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is CRAPPY GLOBAL ROAMING! at 28 Dec 2010 07:09:55 AM
I thought the whole point of global roaming was to send and receive texts and make and receive calls from the mobile number that everyone back home has.

What a load of crap!
It cost me double!
Not only to receive calls but to also check my message bank because my mobile DID NOT RING!

Anyone else had that problem?

28 Dec 2010 07:21:37 AM: I had the same problem ... Twice! seems to be sorted now but as you know the service is useless if you can't trust it, and the process took forever and a load of unnecessary stress.

5983 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is really sneaky at 28 Dec 2010 07:09:28 AM
Vodafone has the gall to form a social networking team to spread lies and rumours about other network providers and the operator of this site.

That's a slap in the face of your upset customers Vodafone.

Why do you need to reinforce your lying, cheating, substandard ways? Perhaps these young savvy people can be put to better use by actually helping.

I would be happy to provide examples of Vodafones mischievous behaviour from this site and others.

5980 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is criminally misleading at 28 Dec 2010 07:08:40 AM
You will be happy to know it is possible to break a Vodafone contract without paying anything. I cancelled a two year contract with Vodafone after arguing strongly with the the VF call centre. The operators there are trained to discourage people from breaking contracts but if you press them hard enough they will do it.

People need to stand up for their rights and not accept the lack of service Vodafone offers. Don't stand back and adopt a "she'll be right mate" attitude. At the end of the day if Vodafone is misleading the public and making you pay for something they can not deliver then you have every right to stop paying them money.

5979 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor/Disgrace at 28 Dec 2010 07:07:37 AM
I Iive in NSW.Been existing Voda customer for 1.5 months. The service is disgraceful and very poor reception.Call always dropped out & not able to retrieve voicemail.Contact customer care all they said was the area I live has reliable reception. What a load a rubbish!! Crap service!!
After all the ignoring issues.I decided to switch to Telstra & been pleased with the service since then.Even the fees are bit expensive. All the reception area that Vodafone couldn't get Telstra does. Thanks to Vodafail for allowing all existing customers voice their complain. Cheers

5972 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 8 at 28 Dec 2010 07:04:37 AM
I have been with vodafone for over 10 years, since I purchased my first mobile. Over the past 18 months I have notioced a decline in coverage and service. When calling the so helpful "customer Service Desk" to explain my concerns I was told "I live in a well covered area in Sydney". How can this be when my phone drops out at least 50% of the time and constantly cuts in and out of service in my house without moving the phone. In my opinion, mobile phones have come along way with the use of technology, people are not only using them for making calls but internet use as well and this use of data must have some effect on vodafones own capability.
Why then is Vodafone still recruiting customers when they can't support their existing customers. I've had enough of their lack of service, lousy and unreliable reception they offer. I'll be switching companies at the end of my contract if I don't get out of it beforehand.

5970 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is vodapainful at 28 Dec 2010 07:02:44 AM
My texts come through sometimes 5 hours late... my icture texts sometimes arrive a day late. I run a business sometimes using my mobile and 2 weeks ago an employee was sick and tried to let me know and I never recevied the texts for 5 hours! In the meantime Ive called her mum, boyfriend and aunty trying to find her as she never arrived for work. If only my texts came though when they were sent to me I would never have gone through the stress of knowing if someone is even alive!I wonder if Vodafone would like to pay for my time and phone calls looking for her? The vodafone store where I live is absolutely hopeless too.. I dont bother even going in there for help as no one can answer my questions about the phone I have or am interested in..
28 Dec 2010 07:06:12 AM: and when I need to drive to Sydney my reception drops out about 20 x on a major HWY that 1000's of people use every day and probably have the same problem which make me have to call back and of course have to pay more conveniently on my bills!

5967 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not at all at 28 Dec 2010 07:01:55 AM
This won't make it through the moderator but I have been very happy with Vodafone. Slightly patchy coverage outside Sydney but all ree have areas where they drop out.
Not many drop outs I an recall.
Fast 3G data in Sydney.
Great update deal on iPhone 4.
Generous 2GB monthly data.
Allow sideways movement in plans when they change without penalty.
VISUAL VOICEMAIL!!! Only one who provide it.
I wonder about the motivations of those behind this site...
Alex

5957 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:58:39 AM
I was happily with 3 for ages, no problems, then signed up to vodaphone for a combo phone internet plan - I was told they are merging, and if there were any dramas it would be ok. with vodafone internet kept dropping out (nearly missed an ebay purchase haha). many calls later, often on hold 20-35 mins, and often calls dropping out, they eventually agreed to release me from the plan on condition i signed back up with 3, returned the phone etc. Also in early days I sent internet key back thinking that might be the problem (no charge) and it checked out ok by their people, but they had that for a week and no replacement in the meantime. I was lucky bcs I still had an internet plan with 3 at the time, which never dropped out. So initially when vodafone wanted to 'investigate coverage' which they said could take 6 days I argued against this. they said their computer or whatever showed good coverage in my area. I think it was only because of my 'proof' with the 3 internet working fine and the vodafone one constantly dropping out, that they agreed to release me. I emphasised to them I wasn't trying to get out of being their customer or pay a lesser plan, I just wanted to switch back to 3, afterall they were merging so what was the problem??? sigh. lots of time wasted on calls to sort this out. btw got sick of Rob Thomas when on hold. ALSO to end it off, they then charged me for the full plan (got a bill for $1500) because they had no record of receiving the phone back yet, so that took quite a few more calls to sort out. i realised i had nothing in writing to prove they had agreed (over the phone) to release me. hey vodafail, keep up the good work!

I regret having signed 2 year contract with Vodaphone.
I cannot use Optus or Telstra prepaid sims cause phone
Vodaphone gave me is locked. I have to sign a new contract
with Optus or Telstra but how do I cancel contract with
Vodaphone and transfer my number? I'll join class action
but what do I do in the meantime.

5944 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Coverage at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:18 AM
i catch the ferry to/from meadowbank & king st wharf every day. The coverage continually drops in & out throughout the journey. Further to that, right throughout Sydney, I continually get no coverage despite the phone showing good coverage. I tried to call vodafone re these problems but hung up after being on hold for 40 mins. I'm waiting until Feb when my contract ends and switching. If I can't get through to customer care then, I'm going to the TIO

5943 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is In All Ways at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:14 AM
I have missed important medical appointments from failed voicemail messages that I have not been able to listen to / retrieve.
Takes upto 3-5 days to retrieve messages both voice and text.
I have been kept on hold for upto 1 hour 3 different times in one day regarding a phone bill that I have paid, I have the receipt with a receipt number, but the operator did not want to know that, he wanted to argue I hadn't paid the bill. I am still waiting for a hard copy to be posted to me and prove that I have paid for that bill.
I also find their billing system pathetic; why they have to send it in an email is beyond me.
Service drop out is ridiculous: I have hardly any coverage at all;
The last time I spoke to Vodafone about all my issues, I told them I would be looking to change carrier, he wasn't too fussed - told me to have a nice day. This is not customer service.
