Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

2902 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TOTALLY at 27 Dec 2010 02:53:19 PM
Try running a business from a mobile phone that doesnt work. Voice messages that come through 3 - 5 days later from potential clients.....it's not acceptable. No phone reception in majority of the places I go to, not to mention when it drops out completely and is searching to find reception. I have lost a lot of money not only paying my phone bill that doesnt work but also losing potential clients as they are unhappy I havent returned their calls. How can I if I dont get their messages???????
2901 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is crappy voda at 27 Dec 2010 02:53:13 PM
you would think that reception in the city would be better than other places, well nope for the last 2 months, i either have no reception, txt messages not being received for a day or 2, really crappy reception, or fone calls dropping out, and all those call centers can say is that it has been logged but cant tell me when it will be fixed, if i go the next suburb over from me i got great recption, spent 10 or so years with voda and this has to be the worst its ever been. how about they start using all that money they make on fixing the services rather than stuffing it into their pockets. grrrrr
2899 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is consistant at being s**t at 27 Dec 2010 02:52:57 PM
I went throught a phone company that used Vodaphone towers. Things was I couldn't get reception in shopping centres, @ the movies or in my house. First they tried to tell me it was my phone, get a new one. So I did @ my expense. Still had the same problem. Got them to cancel the contract, wasting 4 hours of MY time and MY money. Best part was they paid for the cancellation of the contract, but I STILL had to pay for 2 years of contract......

2894 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is more useless than urine flavoured lollypops at 27 Dec 2010 02:52:01 PM
Ive been with Vodafail for a bit now. Currently on $69 plan iPhone 3GS, and only have 6 months left on my contract. Initially i thought everything was fine, moderate reception but that is ok. However recently it has become unbearable. In my own home which has a tower nearby i only get 1-2 bars reception at best, the rest of the time my little iPhone tells me there is 'no service'. The same goes for when im on the road to work, uni or friends houses.
I have watched jealously as people around me with the exact same phone (so i know its not a hardware problem) with Optus and Telstra load the internet and msgs instantly, while I am still just waiting for the first page to open up.
It is completely woeful that this service is offered in this day and age, and that they are allowed to get away with it. It is daylight robbery at its best - I am paying a contract that cant be used to its fullest, yet I am told there 'is no widespread problem'

27 Dec 2010 03:27:00 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"
28 Dec 2010 02:16:07 AM: I can't believe after all the comments and posts Ive read that you are the first person to say this!! OMF This is just so obvious and would naturally be the FIRST thing I'd DO anyway! Too EASY! :)
29 Dec 2010 10:28:51 AM: i tried that but part of my contract was a new phone which they wont take back and want me to pay top $ for
2893 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very Fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:51:54 PM
I signed up with Vodafone hoping that I would not get the harassing aggressive Optus marketing. I am wishing that i could rush back to Optu!!! Agressive marketing is much better than no coverage and constant dropped calls. I often have to reboot my Iphone 4 just to get internet coverage or finish a game that is 'hung up'. Sick of it all!!
2892 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrible at 27 Dec 2010 02:51:51 PM
I'm not able to dial out, send messages, drop calls or even reach customer service. I am so sick of not being able to rely on a dependable phone provider that links me to my clients. This is affecting my business on a daily basis for the last 3 months. What is going on??? I know I'm not alone as I talk to some other Vodafone clients who are having the same problems. I thought it was my handset, but I'm sure is the crappuy network. obi75syd@gmail.com
2891 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is worst service ever! at 27 Dec 2010 02:51:36 PM
Bad reception was just the beginning with Vodaphone, they also tried to tell me I was on a 24 month contract when I only signed up for 12 months... I took me about two weeks of running around on my lunch breaks sitting in their store waiting on hold endlessly before they finally conceded that they were wrong. When my phone broke it took months to repair during which time I was not provided with any handset but still had to keep paying my cap. Then when it finally came back nothing had actually been fixed... in the end I just gave up on them, they're worse than Telstra!
2889 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is how do they stay in business? at 27 Dec 2010 02:51:28 PM
The last straw on my wifes mobile was when our sone was hit by another skier at Thredbo and she had to use someone else's phone to alert ski patrol. Their coverage maps show the mountain covered and other networks get good service in the same area.
BTW, She got out of her contract ater launching a campagin of calling whenever her calls were dropping out etc

2888 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Off the scale at 27 Dec 2010 02:51:14 PM
Ever since I've been with vodafail I've had nothing but problems. The phone they sold me was shite to start with and they didn't want to get involved. Said it was a manufacturing problem now they had sold it on! The reception is awful in any built up area. Blackspots! Huh...the whole of QLD seems to be a blackspot where Vodafail is concerned! I can't even get out of the contract without having to spend more money. Six months to go and counting then I'm moving to another provider.
28 Dec 2010 05:56:32 PM: I just went on a Vodafone contract with the new Iphone4. Ever since I have had it have had numerous amounts of problems with reception, phone cutting out and messages arriving and receiving late. No matter where I am usually have a maximum of 2 bars. My mates are all ways saying " when are you going to get a new phone" Nothing wrong with the phone as other services work perfectly on my mates.n Absolutely shithouse!!
28 Dec 2010 09:18:23 PM: anyone who has an ifone4 should be aware that the have a crap receiver (factory admission). I'm not defending voadafone but the shit design by apple doesn't help things either!
29 Dec 2010 08:01:23 AM: i actually get better service with he iPhone 4! (its still shitty!)when i got the phone i was aware but i was over nokia's......but pretty much ALL of the ''N'' series phones are a fail too...
29 Dec 2010 10:42:20 AM: Hey anti-apple fan boi, I have an iphone4 on 3 and have never had a reception problem. I can even receive and make calls in carpark basements. It's not the iPhone. Have you ever made phone or electrical device that has sold in the hundreds of millions? So shut the fuck up already.
29 Dec 2010 01:05:15 PM: If iphone 4 wasnt such a problem with reception why is it they are sold with a bumper to prevent drop in coverage you clown. Hope you are all enjoying your cheap phone plans, if it wasnt for competition you all would be still paying for handsets outright and paying through the nose for calls. Wake up you pack of idiots, the country needs companies like Vodafone. Albeit they are having problems at the moment i can tell you Telstra and Optus have experienced the same problems and will again. You pack of idiots think about it, what has Telstra offered you? A tax payer funded network and still the most expensive network.
2885 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Was Bad at 27 Dec 2010 02:50:41 PM
I switched from Telstra to Vodafone about 9 months ago. They messed up my combo plan so bad thinking I have 2 phones instead of 1 phone and mobile broadband. Hours on the phone complaining eventually they credited the account and gave me a years worth of free broadband. End result I haven't had to pay a bill yet and got an Apple iPhone 4 as well. Everything is working fine now. I also have adsl 2 with TPG. They would have to be the most unethical Telco I have dealt with ... the more you complain the more consistent network performance you get and I have to invlove the TIO. STAY AWAY FROM TPG AT ALL COSTS!
2884 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No reliable service at 27 Dec 2010 02:50:21 PM
Since i purchased a phone on a plan (now one year in) i have had consistent drop outs and no signal at all. My texts are delayed in being received by up to 24hours. I went back within a month of purchase - they replaced the sim card and this made no difference. Went back again they sent the phone off for repair - came back with software upgrade - made no difference at all. In the mean time they gave me a replacement phone that did not charge and was faulty. At my third visit i insisted on a new phone as i had logged two phone calls with the support service who told me that the service connection in my area was fine and not dropping out. I was refused the new phone and they had no replacement phone to give me and therefore i would be with no phone. THe attendent at the Chadstone store guaranteed that i would be rung when one was available. Call did no happen i went back in and they were apologetic but passed the buck between workers. Asked to speak to a manager - not available was dealing with another customer - i waited 45mins then left - i could not leave my phone because yet again they had no replacement phone to give me. Throughout this entire experience not once did any vodafone employer indicate to me that this might be a network problem and i asked several time was i alone in this experience and had the handset that i had chosen had any difficulties. I was led to believe that i was alone and that it was probably the handset.

Vodafone sets up $250,000 3G network in perth but cuts corners, FAIL, shuts down network and has to build it from scratch again.
Vodafone merges with HUTCHINSON 3G, fail
this network has always been the shit kickers

first of all I wanted to replace my home phone with a mobile, coverage looks good in the shop. at home call dropouts and switching between 2G and 3G when I get to work. my mobile internet imagine signing up to only receive 12kbs at home.
2875 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Wouldn't even credit them with an "F" at 27 Dec 2010 02:48:32 PM
Finally gave Vodafone the flick 2 months ago after having some 6 months plus of near zero network coverage in not only my home, but my suburb! Works fine in Brisbane. But if I was shopping down the road from home - there was no chance of finding out if I'd forgotten anything.. A few months earlier than that I was lucky enough to be shopping and call home, then have it cut out mid sentence..
Between "no coverage" and random drop outs - I'd had enough!
Am now with the opposition with better coverage on a comparable product - wish I'd made the move earlier..
For the record I'd moved across the ditch with V as my mobile provider and initially they were excellent - if you're considering signing up with Vodafail - DON'T!!

2873 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Really Bad 3G SERVICE at 27 Dec 2010 02:48:24 PM
I have been a loyal vodafone customer for 14 years. I cannot believe that they have allowed the network to get so bad since 3G services became a fact of life. I live in Darwin and since 3G came along Vodafone has dropped the ball. Yes you get the little 3G symbol on your phone, but NO data flows through. Good luck trying to make a phone call in Palmerston or Darwin Northern Suburbs. VodaDrop should be the new brand. Anyway I have 6 vodafone accounts with my employees, we will not be resigning with Vodadrop when we can get out of our contracts.

I've been a vodafail customer for the past two years. I find that in the Belconnen town centre that the reception is very week, and in Dunlop, It is pathetic.
I've got a blackberry storm and rely on this for business. I'm changing phones and will see if it is the phone or the network.

I am sick of getting the NO SERVICE on my iphone when I walk into a building. What happen to coverage in metro area. Rarely I get 3G coverage in suburbs as well. Vodafone just doesn't seem to care or do anything about the coverage. At least when I was with 3, I got coverage inside buildings.

Constant drop-outs....I have been with Vodafone for around 5 years myself and have seen the level of service drop out as well as the reception and phone calls. Over the last 3 weeks there has been constant service issues where they then gave everyone a free saturday to make calls anywhere in your state or whatever for the day.....that was nice, but the service was out then too. I am sick of being on hold for excessive amounts of time and it is a huge pain to get to the dept I want/need to speak to. I think this is great....stick it to the man from the little guys.
2863 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Yamba data coverage VERY slow at 27 Dec 2010 02:47:29 PM
Have Telstra iPhones but got a vodafone prepaid data sim for the iPad to do emails etc during our holiday. The iPad is operating so slowly it is not workable. Resorted to using the iPhone for email & checking websites....total waste of money. We checked official coverage details before buying the prepaid, but have found this information is miss represented. Web pages which can't load because they lose connection or response is too slow just zip up I. Seconds on the Telstra supported iPhones.

2860 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 02:46:42 PM
the vodafone coverage is very questionable. i live on the southside of brisbane and very rarely do i get a full signal strength. i can drive to our friends place 3k's up the road and have no signal nothing. this is not out in the sticks in suburbia, what if there was an emergancy and i needed to use my mobile. the number of times i been unable use my fone is terrible. also i signed up to a $69 plan but i've never paid that. it's always a bit more, just a $ here a $ there. then ther was the debacle when i went to hawaii, had the fone set to global roaming no worries , was told the charges for calls and text then when we got home there was a bill for $1500 for five day's of internet usage 103 mb. when i questioned it i was told they charge 1cent per kb i was a bit shocked but hey i used it so no worries i'll pay no questions. yeh no i was told to pay $1200 now or they would cut it off when i said it was a direct debit just take when the bill was due in 5 weeks the paki on the line said no money now or no fone i said but it is not even due yet he said tuff , a fortnight later they cut it off same deal when i reconnected had to pay the $1200 and then it took a week and a half of fone calls for them to flick it on, not happy jan i'm over vodafone as soon as my contract is up i'm gone. maybe they should spend more money on there coverage instead of racing around a frigen race track.

Poor reception, calls going straight to message bank without ringing and the most frustrating is that the voicemail messages come through days later making
me look like I am not returning calls to important customers, Vodafone's pathetic service is making my business look bad and is costing me money.
Trying to ring support is useless as it takes forever to talk to a real person and when you do they have no ability to help at all anyway. Shame on you vodafone treating paying customers so terribly.

I love this website! I have been with vodafone now for about 5 years in Brisbane and the sunshine coast and thought they were quite good. In april I got two 3gs iphones on a 2year plan. Since then there reception has been going downhill. One moment i can have full reception the next none?!?! Were I live and work says I should have full coverages according to their maps, but most of the time I either have no reception or 2G. I have text messages and voicemail that don't appear all the time. Not to mention calls continually dropping out!
Will be moving to the dark side (Telstra) soon.

I replaced my virgin mobile broadband with vodafone and bought an iphone at the same time. The lady at the store said you can cancel if your coverage is bad and you call within a week. It took a week to get the service up and running so i missed that boat. I called 5 times explaining the coverage is non existent and I wanted to cancel and they gave some lame excuse "network congested, network is being worked on..." Phone support sux and have an excuse for everything. I want to cancel but i seem to be stuck with excuses saying why I can't. Vodafone sux big time.
2849 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Super fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:44:43 PM
I live in Brisbane northern suburbs. Literally 10 mins from the city. I rarely have over one bar of reception. If my call is over 5 mins it will most likely drop out. My 3G never works properly or is slow at the best of times. Emails fail to download sometimes. I love how my coverage is consistently poor and nothing is done but as soon as i miss a payment vodafone is alllll over it.
2848 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 02:44:17 PM
i signed a contract with vodafone back in 2008 i believe, i was under the impression that i would get perfect coverage in my area, as i was told by the sales rep.
i had nothing but trouble trying to get reception for my broad band i even moved my whole computer around the house. nothing would work it was slow and sometimes unresponsive.
i rang vodafone to express my frustration and concerns and all i got told was the computer shows you have coverage in your area, this made me extremely made and i began venting my fury at the person on the other end of the phone whome i couldn't understand completely which made it more frustrating.
anyways i stopped paying the bills where they eventually sent me a letter stating to pay almost $4,000. which consisted of late fees disconnection fees and so forth or else they would take me to court.
i ended up paying the bill off and then vodafone sent me another letter at the end of my payment plan stating that i had a couple of hundred dollars to pay so i paid it in full. i then rang the debt collection agency to say i paid it and they told me i had paid too much, well then i flipped it even further, i rang vodafone to tell them i wanted my money back they stated it may take upto 3 weeks to process and send me a cheque i said fine so long as i get my money back with was over $300. anyways 6 weeks went past no cheque i rang them back in a fit of rage and demanded my money the answer i got was there is a back log and it may take a few more weeks to get it to u i said u have 2 weeks to get it to me or im going to higher authority, i had the cheque in my hand a week later.
all in all i payed out a contract and late fees for a service that i got maybe a month or 2 full use out of.
so yeah im really ticked off and to find out people may get there money back eventually through a class action annoys me because i have no proof that i had paid it as i have thrown all the bills and any form of communication that i had with them out.

when I first got a plan with vodafone they were one of the best carriers in Australia now they are worse than Telstra when you try to contact then you get Lara and a complete computer runabout coverage drops out constantly sometimes for two or three days on end with no coverage for sombody with medical problems this can definately be a worry. When this contract is up next year I will definately go looking elsewhere

I live in Mile End which is a stone throw from the city of Adelaide. If I move a inch or sometimes even if I don't move I go from full coverage to no coverage at all.
Why do I have no coverage. Surely vodafone must take some responsibilty. Why is there a difference between coverage across networks? Do they not use all the same towers? Why is there difference in coverage...!!!???

Data usage, and download usage. Many bills that are wrong and who refunds for games I did not download. I have a Satio which is hard to gt games for, yet for the first few bills I had several charged and the cap was wrong. A person told me to bring them in and she'd see what she could do - but it seemed all too hard. I'd paid the bills months before. Vodafone staff told me to ringh thes number, that number over the games downloads. I just paid it or would be cut off. I am tired of bad reception & not connecting for data. The vodafone website is a "hit and miss" if it works. I think their caps are o.k. - I have been with Vodafone for approx 10 years - its not better or worse. Which is sad. The Infinity caps are good, but you pay for 13 or voicemail calls. But still they have the best caps.

2 months ago I bought a $99 vodafone wireless dongle with 6 gig to use over 12 months at home. It rarely ever connects to the 3G network and always drops off to the GPRS network which is slower than dial up. My house mate has optus wireless with perfect connection and my iPhone has full 3G connection from Three. Now I thought Three and vodafone used the same 3G network which is run off the optus 3G network. So I don't understand why my voda dongle can't even get 1 bar on the 3G network. What a f*cking waste of money and time waiting for pages to load. Not happy

Paying for a service I can rarely use, one bar two at most if Im lucky, but only if I'm standing outside in a certain spot on the deck - great in cold, wind and rain!
Cannot get online, upload, download its just not happening no matter where I am in Hobart metro.
Often miss calls or messages due to no reception.
Out and about in Hobart reception varies from 0 bars to 3 bars max (if the weather is nice)and always dropping in and out.
Stuck in a contract and tired of fighting big companies who take your money, tie you in and you cant get out without a huge amount of hassle, time, writing, calling, being pushed from one dept to another, and on and on it goes.

2827 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTE CRAP at 27 Dec 2010 02:36:47 PM
I signed up to a Vodafone Contract in JULY 2009 with the purchase of an iPhone 3GS. In the first week I noticed that I did have better reception at home the 3, which is the bottom of the pit of all telco's. Over the months I noticed a slow decrease in the quality of reception, and now in DECEMBER 2010, I can't get any reception on my Mobile Phone at home. Having called Vodafone on many occassions, the only solution they have is to move around or go elsewhere where there is reception. What Kind of service is this when I am paying them $69.00 pre month on a Fixed Term Contract and can't receive or make calls at home. Add to this the Thousands of call dropouts, SMS messages which take up to 8 hours to get to the recipient, and extremely poor coverage, VODAFONE is not worth slagging on.
I was travelling in Austria in March 2010, and bought a Pre-paid card, with one of their cheapest networks, and never had less than 4 bars of reception, even inside buildings, in tunnels and up in the mountains. This was absolutely incredible, I even had semi reception when I travelled into Slovakia and Hungary. This is what you call service, you get exactly what you pay for. Australian companies are just focusing on making money and providing crap services. This is a problem across the board, Telco's, Gas, Electricity, and whatever other utility service is available. What about the Customer Service Call Centres in India, This is an absolute joke, and invasion of privacy when you have to confirm private information to someone in another country.
Australia is no longer the lucky country, well maybe for the money hungry corporations, which are mainly overseas owned.
Everybody should band together and SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH", Let's get these companies, especially VODACRAP to lift their game, and the best way to do this is by leaving them, the more customers they lose the better. The government is not doing anything to protect people against getting ripped off by these companies, the Governemnt doesn't give a shit, Politicians have their phones paid by the Tax Payer anyway, so they are never concerned.
I have sent a scathing complaint to VODAFONE about my problems, both in writing and over the internet, and if they don't meet my demands, I will just drop the contract, and stop paying them. They can try and recover money from me, and at the same time I will be fighting to recover money from them. Oh yeah, I have also sent one to A Current Affair.....SPREAD THE WORD......

My wife and I live near Geelong. We were previously with 3 Mobile and had no issues. It was suggested that we change to Vodafone as 3 were changing over to Vodafone plus the coverage is better. We were shown a coverage map that covers all our area no worries. Since changing over not a day goes by where our phonecalls drop out or can't even get through. We can stand in the same spot in our house and the connection comes in and out. Locked into a 24 month contract, if only we knew.

My husband and I went thru Crazy Johns with the provider being Vodafone with a twin deal and internet service. We live in Hallett Cove and the signal in this area is a black hole and it is well known about this and we never ever get a full signal and continues to drop out. They were made aware of the problem but said there is a service therefore we couldnt get out of our contract. The manager at CrazyJohns was more helpful and assisted us in overturning the decision but in the end decided that as we lived in a blackhole area it may not be vodaphone, it wasnt going to make any difference to the reception whoever the provider. We could be wrong on this but have just perservered with problems.

I recently changed from 3 to vodafone when I got my new iPhone 4 in November. I live in a regional Victorian city where I could always get good coverage with every other phone network. Now, I can't get any reception inside my house with vodafone, so there's no point in even having an iPhone, let alone any phone at all. People can't call me, I can't message anyone or receive messages (sometimes I luck out with one bar near a window), can't access the internet and I've been forced to use the home phone, meaning expensive conversations are now adding up. I'm regretting changing to vodafone so much it's not funny.

I have been with vodafail for the last 7 years and it was good I had reception everywhere, in the last 2 years it has been really bad, I contacted vodafail and their reply was .. It was the area I lived in, I live the centre of Canberra , so I had enough and finally purchased a optus sim card so before I get home I use the call forward option on my iPhone and divert all calls to that. If I put them side by side the optus will be on full reception and the vodafail will have no service. How does that work vodafail.

Contract ended with Vodaphone in May 2010, so resigned with iphone 3...Nothing but problems in the first two weeks - non-stop drop outs and No Network coverage across all different areas in south western Sydney. Called Support/Help four times....Numerous hours on hold with advice that didn't solve the problem. Went back to Vodaphone shop ready to throw phone at them after the amount of complaints I had recieved by Family, friends and business calls that I missed or cut out on. One night I was talking to my sister and the call dropped out SEVEN!!! times. The shop sent my phone away claiming my Iphone was faulty. Four weeks later I get a new Iphone and wait for it - EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS!!!! I call head office again and they palm me off to the shop - so Back again I go to the shop who now advise me I have to wait for approval from Head Office to get a different phone. I have to wait another two weeks and I have to call the shop 5 different times to get answers. I get told the person in the section at head office has been away and Thats why I have had to wait - so everyone in NSW had to wait for one person to come back from holidays??? After being rude to a worker I finally get a call from the store manager the next day offering my three phones to choose from - I dont get to choose my own replacemnt phone after the abd service and reunning around I have had to put up with - NO!!!!! And of course to now cancel my contract with incur me with the exit fee!!! What a Joke ;( Instead We will offer you two older style phones to choose from and one phone that no-one has ever heard of but I'm told it's great. yeah well I was told the Iphone was great too!!!.
I choose the unknown HTC Legion after doing some reserach on the three phones on offer and it is 95% better than the Iphone but still not perfect. I still suffer lack of network service and drop outs but It is an improvement to the Iphone drama. Not once did they reinburse me for the couple of months my service was disrupted, for my constant phonecalls and hours lost on the phone to support/Help desk or for the numerous trips to the Vodaphone shop. Am exremly disappointed in their "Customer Sevice" and the fact I was made to feel like I was the problem not their service or the phone!

In this day and age when a place with 50,000+ people can't get 3g they can get ****ed. Not to mention that if I go to the beach 5km from my house I lose all reception. Also if I am on the wrong side of the mountain here again no signal, yet I am about 1km from the ****ing tower. Finally just did a trip recently and in 2000km I got signle once. I have been with Vodafone since they first started. Recent problems are my new iphone4 had no reception as I have to stand in the middle of my street to have a conversation at home. These conversations involve dropouts galore resulting in me just giving up. Not good considering my clients cannot get through to me day or night plus I get voicemail messages hours after they were left. My biggest concern is the fact they gave my personal number to someone who simply called and begged them for it. I am stuck in this contract with my crappy phone and no reception and now a crazy person has my number too. I wanna sue their asses!!

In fact, the internet connection is so bad, it cuts in and out all the time. I am seriously thinking of switching back to Optus or to another network.
I tried calling the customer service line and was literally placed on hold for 2 hours before a man with a heavy Indian accent finally tried to come to my assistance, but I had no idea what he was going on about!

Vodaphone said they would put the phone under investigation, i waited 4 weeks for a response, their response was that there was nothing wrong with the reception on my phone!!! Let me guess your expert INDEPENDANT investigation!! I begged to get out of the plan, they refused and said that i had to give the plan to someone else!! Amazing reading the issues in Australia with Vodafone service. I'm an Aussie living in the UK and I've been having service coverage and reliability issues with Vodafone here. I've now gone onto O2 and still have to pay for my Vodafone contract where I don't even now turn the phone on any more. Vodafone obviously needs to invest more in it's network performance in Australia and elsewhere.
2790 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Significant at 27 Dec 2010 02:24:32 PM
I was formerly on the 3 Network for years before it merged with Vodafone, and although I know they have merged recently, I never had any problems until switching to Vodafone a few months back. Reception is poor and on various occasions I have been unable to ring out from my phone even when it reportedly has reception.
I think what irritates me the most is actually trying to get through to someone on Vodafone in order to fix or enquire about certain problems. Long wait times and voice activated services are annoying at the best of times. I was also not offered any compensation when trying to set up internet on my HTC numerous times and being on the phone for at least half an hour on three separate occasions.
I only switched to Vodafone for the HTC Legend. I probably shouldn't have bothered.

Reception is always "Very poor" or "poor". When clicked on link from a link, usually got disconnected. Originally I thought this was my computer which is almost three years old but it was a good Sony top model when I bought it. Then suddenly two weeks ago every time when I tried to connect a small window popped out telling me my data usage is coming to an end whereas when I tried to use the Voda SMS I was told I still had half the amount to go until the end of the month. So I called their Technical Support which usually takes more than 45 minutes and was told should stick to the SMS amount. What a great service!

I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini 10 on a 24mth contract. That was back in the last week of July 2010 and within 4 weeks I had the phone and free modem that came with it at the shop because they were both loosing reception, Phone battery kept going flat within 36hrs of a full charge. (Being new to Australia I don't SMS or call alot of people.) Modem keeps dropping out of reception and the whole phone switches off altogether and they still say nothing is wrong with it. They have sent it away to get fixed and it still comes back the same. I will never deal with Vodafone as a network provider again and I will never buy anything from Crazy Johns as they have been worse than useless at helping me fix any of the issues I have experianced

aside from the network issues, I don't have an account login any longer. 6 weeks and many hours of circular conversations. Half truths and deception. I bluffed them once saying I was recording the conversation. Vodafone 'customer help' disconnected the call saying I couldn't record them. But they could record me.
After that I recorded almost every call. I have hours of the saga on hard disk.
All this happened after I changed from pre pay to a contract. I feel totaly ripped off. Not to mention serialy decieved!

A few years ago I was with Vodafone. Due to their online facilities being inadequate in saving peoples updated details and when I finally gave the company the flick for their seriously lacking reception [which was costing me hundreds of dollars in lost wages each week] I get a debt collection company chasing me for missed bills that I had never received as their online facility and in-store staff had not updated my details correctly. I now have a black mark against my name for leaving the contract early and never receiving the bills to my new address to pay. I was never contacted by Vodafone directly before they handed the issue over to a debt collection company.
Overall, the service I had received from Vodafone was dreadful and I've encouraged everyone I've spoken to to leave them as soon as they could.
A friend of mine is currently having the same issue with them not updated their details correctly and bills going unpaid due to not receiving the bill.

I received a message one month late (and expecting more to come months late), and received countless messages hours late. At work I never have reception while my colleague with the same HTC Desire phone but on a different network has FULL reception. Vodafone, you've really failed.
2771 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Digital drop-out at 27 Dec 2010 02:20:27 PM
This is not new - Vodafone reception has been bad for years. At my home/office Telstra customers get full-bar reception; Optus folk get nearly max reception. I get none unless I stand upstairs, and outside in all weathers and then the calls drop out - especially at peak usage times (e.g., 5pm-6pm each day). Complaints to Vodafone are met with nonsensical form letter replies or statements like "it shouldn't be that way, there's a "repeater tower" across the road from your home (but there's not).

2761 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 02:18:46 PM
I live in Erskineville (2km away from Sydney CBD) and calls will often drop out two or three times per call, one out of three text messages will fail to send, and people will often get a "mobile phone is switched off" recorded voice announcement because the network is so terrible.
The amount of times I've spent apologising to friends and clients for call drop outs is ridiculous, and the amount of money wasted on call connection costs is jaw dropping.
In the past few years I have used a Nokia handset, iPhone 3GS and currently have a HTC Desire and the issues are not handset related.
I have spent so much time calling Vodafone for help that it seems pointless raising a complaint.

2758 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is charging, contact, performance, etc, etc, etc, at 27 Dec 2010 02:18:15 PM
My account is due to turn over on the 19th of every month, I checked my balance on 16th to find I still had $28.00. I checked my bill after the 19th to find they started charging full fees for txts from the 16th. I then had to pay an extra $22.00. When trying to contact them I can't get through due to the high amount of calls coming in (no doubt complaints), at one stage I waited 30mins then to get some Indian that struggled to understand my problem.........every time I go past a lamp post the coverage drops out.

We r. un a Kumon business and it would drop out at the most crucial times. We are only 5 min. walk from St Clair shopping centre! We complained many times and the usual answer is that it near a park........ (about one acre of grass with 6 trees) We use a back-up phone for out going calls.
2755 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is disgusting at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:51 PM
I am currently with vodafone and CONSTANLY having trouble with my calls droping out and not having service, i am always walking around the house, going out in the back yard, down the driveway, up the driveway, in the next door neighbours driveway, down the street, up the street, trying to get coverage! My family is with vodafone and they ALL have the same trouble so we have all decided to go with a different network as we are all well and truly OVER vodafone and it's DIGUSTING coverage and service!
2753 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shit Service at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:24 PM
Firstly, I would like to bring to attention people that Vodafone has the worst reception in almost all areas of Melbourne, resulting in calls dropping out and generally wasting credit recalling or redialling. Also when trying to make aq call, the phone just does nothing for a few minutes then hangs up repeatedly. Then there is the issue with customer service which has been outsource to a call centre in INDIA!!! ffs i cant speak to somebody who speaks english just to maintain my account. I am so pissed off at the amount of credit and time wasted by myself just to make a simple call.
2752 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No reception and drop outs at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:14 PM
I fought Vodafone over reception issues and drop outs for 5 months in Harris Park, NSW. They were claiming network is in perfect condition and no issues are reported. I went to the Telecommunication Ombudsman and I got out of the contract with in a week with no penalty because I showed them 3 days in a row drop outs and no connection available. Their customer relation person was very cooperative. Any issues you have with phone companies please call Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman on 1800 062 058 or log a call online at http://www.tio.com.au/ and they usualy get back to you in few days with information who to contact at Vodafone i Australia and you will have dedicated Relationship manager to fix the problem and offer you solution benefitial to you.

I was told 2 yrs ago they were updating mobile service to my area, which gets bugger all signal BUT if you walk all the way up the back of the property you may get 1 bar of signal :/ To this day, we are no better off... no mobile coverage decent enuff for even a 1 minute phone call, maybe i should be impressed if i can send a txt, after upteen resends? AND a recent gripe....!!! A previous bill, that was paid over 3 ago, is still being deemed "outstanding"... unfu**in believable! After being kept on hold for 38 mins to resume this problem, i hung up, and gave into the fact that Vodafone doesn't give a toss bout it's customers, as long as they get their $$$... we can all go to hell!!!!
2749 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is absolutely terrible at 27 Dec 2010 02:16:40 PM
I thought that when they merged with 3 that would be a good thing, shared infrastructure etc...sadly not. Its upto the gods, when I sit in my home office (15k from the Brisbane CBD) and take (never mind make) a call. Went into the VODA stores and got 2 lame excuses of network issues and promisory fixes. I just heard the news today about the class action...I don't want money back, I just want to leave the carrier. I'll never recommend VODA to ANYONE...funny same as builder I had a couple of years back :)

We are a corporate customer having over 200 vodafone 3GS iPhones. I have a repeater within 10 mts of my office. I still fluctuate between full 3G signal & no network every single day on every single call. What excuse does Vodafone have for over 24 months of essentially no service. Nil.
2746 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Super Fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:15:58 PM
It took me four months to get Vodafone to admit their wireless broadband network was not working and to refund my money. FOUR MONTHS of navigating through Lara and waiting on hold. In the end, when they admitted their network wasn't working and knew it wasn't working I asked them why they were still signing up customers, to which I received no answer.
The worst experience was when I went to a Vodafone store to take back my faulty phone, which was under warranty, and the sales woman refused to take it back. She clearly didn't like having someone in her store that wasn't buying anything and made a big deal about not taking back the phone. She was yelling at the top of her lungs at me, almost screaming at me, while her staff members looked at her in fear and a man who was shopping for a phone looked on in disbelief.
I've only got a few months of the contract left. I can't wait to change to a telco. where my calls don't drop out all the time and where I won't be treated like shit.

2739 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 02:14:32 PM
I have a loyal Vodafone pre-paid user since 2000. In the area that I live in (Doolandella QLD 4077), the reception is absolutely terrible and can only hear every second word that people say over the phone. I have called up several times out of frustration and i get the same response: 'it's because you're area gives poor reception and it might be that fact that your indoors'.... BULLSHIT!!!!
I live in a normal house with thin walls... if i can get reception there, what chance will i get in a shopping center or building (when in fact, i can get reception in those areas). Furthermore, I have also tried Optus, Telstra and Virgin network around my area and they all work FINE! so... WTF VODA!!! you're meant to be an international network provide yet you can get good reception in our area!!!
Another thing is that the cost of pre-paid service is quite high compared to other network providers. something like 35 cents of the text message.... really? optus is only 10cent and when your on a plan with them, its UNLIMITED!! i'm still a paying customer, so why should i have to pay more!!!!!!!! >:(
the only reason why i still use voda is because my parents are still using it and it's for their convenience to make cheaper voda to voda calls. Other than that, my first preference would have been OPTUS anyday.....

2738 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Some regional areas of Western Australia have no network coverage at 27 Dec 2010 02:14:25 PM
On Saturday, 11th December, from around 1pm to 3pm the Vodafone network failed for around 3 to 4 hours.
It was announced that Vodafone would compensate their customers for this network failure. This has not happened in anyway since my current recharge...
I am a loyal prepaid $49 per month Vodafone customer.
I would have appreciated at least $50 extra bonus credit for the inconvenience after my 12th December, account recharge, which has occasionally been the Vodafone administration procedure.

I gave Vodafone the flick because of bad service and moved to 3. Then Vodafone bought out 3! What the...anyways 3 wireless has been an absolute disaster. Sometimes it could even open my emails in peak hour. Was given 3 different reasons why service was slow, they were... You need a cord from the computer to the modem to improve service 2.We are updating our network. 3.You are in a low coverage area (12 kms from central Melb?!). The time spent on the phone dealing with this company is plain frustrating. They certainly dont have a prob sending bills and taking money. Just gave up on it, changed to lowest plan possible and waited for contract to run out.
Whats frustrates me is the money they spend on fancy shops, and marketing and media to get you signed up and last 6 months in business but the sheer size of these companies and the money they pull keeps them rolling along until the next sucker shows up.

I cant even get any mobile service in some residential areas, for example, on the Logan Motor way near the Compton Road overpass, Toowoomba near Ruthven Street, and I'm sure there are many more reception BLACK spots all around Australia!! Also when I travel near the Jimboomba area, my phone just turns off and restarts again and again until I leave that area, (which was also purchased from a vodafone store). Also I get messages which are days old!! and sending them take days for other people to recieve, would have been quicker to drive round to my friends house and tell them in person!!
.......So YAY for VODA-CRAP!!!

I had been with vodafone for nearly 2 years, the last year has been awful with reception and calls dropping out i have contacted vodafone after being on hold for nearly 2 hours and they didnt think it was a issue, they said they would try and see what they could do for me and get back to me within 72 hours. They didn't call back so i called them and waited on hold again! then they told me they still hadnt resolved the problem so i wanted out of my contract and i had still had 4 months to go so i went to telstra and transferred my number to them have great reception but still have to pay an early termination fee to vodafone WHAT A JOKE!!!!

Extremely poor coverage in Kingsford Sydney! Especially voda to voda. Poor customer service careline! Normally takes 1 hour to get someone on the line. Fail to honour its promotion promise to give $100 bonus and 1GB data. VODA IS TERRIBLE!

after experiencing very regular drop outs and quite often little or no coverage in areas that should have it ( other telcos have outstanding coverage in the areas). I rang up yesterday to cancel my contract.... ( 10 months to go) i figured with the lack of coverage and my ever increasing bill that i cant explain its best to cut my losses and leave... and what do you think their response was from the call centre OS ???? they either didnt want to, or didnt have the capacity, to try and keep me as a valued customer. Very disappointed as i have been a loyal customer for som 10 years. i am over vodafone and have since moved to another telco. i will pursue this issue as the treatment i received was not dserving.

We cannot get any reception at out house and when calls are received no matter where we are in Australia more often than not the calls disconnect. After complaining to Vodafone we have only been told to keep a log of all the problems. Vodafone doesnt care all they want is their money for the length of the contract.

I run a recruitment business on the top floor of a building (with a window seat) in the middle of Melbourne CBD. Believe it or not, even in the middle of a CBD in Australia, my reception just blows in and out. (Well, it just blows!)
I can't even count the number of very important calls that drop out... and to add to the pain, I can't get reception for 15 minutes to call them back.
This service is pathetic, and I have had enough!

2722 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely Floored at 27 Dec 2010 02:09:34 PM
I live in an area where we get absolutely little or non reception. My phone allowance is hardly dented as I'm unable to make a call. I did have a wireless usb with Voda and had to complain to the MD to get a total refund. Upon purchasing the phone the sales person show you a map that highlights the "reception area" but it's totally a scam as 1 bar is still classed as reception. You'd think that if you live 5 minutes from a vodaphone shop you'd have reception not the case
