Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

Where to start, well you can get any service in the main street of Home Hill and most of the town has pour to no signal, yet you can drive 1km out of Home Hill and have full signal. When I signed up to a plan in about sept 2009 I was told they would have 3G network in my area soon and yet now in early 2011 there is NO 3G network (Vodafail). For a while they have had no drop outs, but out of the blue, good old Vodafone (Vodafail) has droped out on me again!! So that's why i'm writing this!!

Normally patchy coverage now no coverage at all. Expensive and inept service from This company and others is what we get from a weak and incompetent government that could so easily impose some form of basic performance standards on these telco's thereby forcing them to divert some their fat profits into necessary network expansion, instead of simply stuffing a daily stream new and unwitting customers into a woefully congested and inadequate network structure.

I live in a residential area with a population of over 60 thousand people. I have purchased mobile phones from vodafone and have signed up to their plans only to be completely disapointed by their lack of reception and service availability - As a result, I constantly miss calls, and, when i do recieve phone calls, I can hardley hear the person on the other end. Its just not good enough in this modern age of technology!

brisbane when is one of the worst flooding issue in history, myself and others around me have no mobile phone reception.
didnt have coverage from my work to home which is a 30 minute drive without traffic.

Yesterday and today, no coverage, limited coverage, call drop outs. Six weeks into getting this phone problems seem to be increasing despite the "coverage" the media has given to Vodafone's poor performance. If they could only pro-rata the plan charges to correlate with available coverage, they'd go down the gurgler quick smart.

I'm in Townsville in northern QLD and I and a mass of people have no signal right now this is pathetic, just yesterday i had my calls dropping out and people not able to get through to me it would go straight to message bank.
About a month ago i had the same issue and went and spoke to a vodafail consultant in their store and he was so disinterested and clearly didn't know what he was talking about and was rude to boot. I will be getting out of my contract for terrible customer service and S#!t reception, i would call them to complain but i have no reception .... -_-

as everyone knows brisbane is flooding and we are all relying on our mobiles, that can be done as long as you are not with vodafone and we have 0 coverage not only here but my daughter on the gold coast also has 0 coverage. My mother who is with telstra has full coverage so I dont want to here the excuse that it is because of the flood.

the only time I get reception in my own home is by hanging upside down in the shower....not good enough - when signing on for my contract was I by no means told about coverage areas either...when I went into my local store - their idea was just to take the sim out - I need to do this constantly just to get reception anywhere.....I seriously don;t think this is good enough - if there was an emergency I shouldnt have to rely on the emergency number if I have a fone that works but a provider that is not upholding their end of the deal. Not acceptable - just the tip of the iceberg....then just 5 mins ago the whole network drops out and when I rang the store - they knew nothing until the calls started flooding in...POOR....

I live in Gladstone, QLD. I brought an Iphone with Vodaphone 6 months ago. I had perfect reception for the first two months in my current home. Now i struggle to make calls, send texts or connect online. I have to walk out of my home onto the street only to get 1 bar and wait for 20 mins at a time for texts and voicemail's to come through, which by the time i get them are to late.
Now i have to go onto the street hourly to check my texts, emails and voice mail but ifi was ever in trouble, their is no way i could ever make a call. Not even to 000.

I sometimes go without reception in Brisbane CBD for up to 6 hours. I am suppose to have my bill emailed to me on a certain date every month (Bill Date), yet have to call nearly every single month (5 days after the Bill Date) to ask them to send me my bill. Every single time I call them and explain that "it has happened again" and the bill was not sent. Friends are asking if they can break their contracts and I am not sure, any help?

Vodafone is the exclusive carrier for the BlackBerry Storm. The phone stopped operating within the first three months of my contract. I returned the phone to the place of purchase (Indooroopilly) and after 4 weeks received a new phone. Four months later, the phone stopped working, again. Returned the phone to the Indooroopilly shop. This time spoke to the manager, who was insulting. Said there were no loner phones in the shop, so I would have to wait. He promised to call. After two weeks, no call. I then went to the shop in person, discovered there were, indeed, loaner phones available. Turned in my dysfunctional Storm. Waited four weeks. No call. Two more weeks. No call. Went to the shop, discovered my phone had been repaired and was just sitting there, waiting. The manager stated, "Oh, I forgot to call you!" Over two months, no phone, and instead of an apology, an insulting manager who could care less about customers he insults. At the end of the contract, I will be leaving, unless I can terminate early without penalty due to lack of service.

Txt messages don't get send, don't even try to phone customer services, 1 1/2 hour on hold at least every time, that is if you are lucky. They give you the wrong information and then you have to try and call them again. Such a waste of time. And please don't ever try to upgrade your phone, absolute nightmare!!

Dropping calls and general poor reception and service. I can't believe that their frontline staff in their stores are not able to discuss complaints and that we "would be better calling Customer Service". They can sign us up pretty quick, but when it comes to something a little prickly, they handball to the inefficient call centre that is "Customer (dis)Service".
Also a little concerned over the privacy things. Not sure how to go about ensuring my details are safe. I know they have issued a 'guarantee' of our security and privacy, but I take this with a grain of salt. Piss poor performance!!

Changed from another provider to Vodaphone 22/12/10, the next day after phone was all charged realised we couldnt get coverage in out house or local area, went back to Vodaphone store and was advised to call Vodaphone, which i did, they explained that there is issues in our area and they would forward my issue/problem on and we would have a reply within 5 days, they also sent a text message staing that, i have tried to call them numerous times and been on hold in excess of 45 minutes at a time and then get cut off, went into another Vodaphone store 9/1/11 and explained my problem that i cant get through to anyone and that the mobile is for work and that we have 2 small children and that we need to always be contactable, the staff member emailed vodaphone infront of me and advised me i would have a reply within 48 hours, to date i have had no reply or contact with vodaphone and we are paying for a mobile that doesnt work, what more can i do to change back to our old provider, this is ridiculous, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, will be spreading the word to NEVER chnage to Vodaphone.

SHAME ON YOU VODAFONE!!! I am in Toowoomba and we are currently in crisis mode. My family has been worried sick as myself, partner and brother are all currently vodafone customers and have not been able to get in contact with ANYBODY via phone OR text all week in the middle of the flash flooding!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! Every other phone network seems to be fine. Too bad if we were stuck on a roof in the middle of all this flooding and were trying to call out for help and couldn't because of a friggen useless phone company!! Not only that, my partner and I want to swap over networks asap, but can't unless we completely change our phones/numbers as we have locked vodafone phones..we can't even unlock them until vodafone is back online (whenever THAT will be..website is even down and lady at All Phones told us not to even bother trying their customer service line...), and even then, vodafone with slap with an unlocking fee!! I can tell you right now, they are going to lose a LOT of customers in south-east qld this week.

I am in a flooded town Dalby Qld. Vodafone has a complete outage in this and other areas. The only provider do have this problem. My problem is that I cannot not use either of my usb modems to log on, I have no vodafone mobile coverage so 1555 is out of the question. When i got a landline to contact them after trying to talk to that recorded bitch, I was told by another recording that they had a problem and they simply cut me off. What a great company not to be with, as soon as my contracts are up I will be going to another provider.

I was in the middle of the Brisbane cbd yesterday, when I discovered that typically there is no reception on the vodafone network (funny how other providers seem to be unaffected!!!!!)I was trying to get ahold of my sister as the public transport was being shut down, and I couldn't get through, and when there was reception I constantly had the call drop out over and over again.
What on earth is the point of having a network that doesn't work when you seriously need it?!
I'm originally from NZ and was a vodafone customer there with no problems, now that I've moved here I've had problems with the network!

First of all I do not like Lara I am sick and tired of talking to a computer its just not right. Second of all My usage was saying that I was going over when I definately didnt I always monitor my usage and I barely use the internet anyway, so I spoke to a customer relations officer from Vodafone who was very caring and he told me that he was going to fix the problem cause he knew I didnt go over aswell & he put my plan up from 6gb to 8gb for the same monthly payment and apologized so I thought that was nice of him. Then a few weeks later I went to SMS 1512 50 times literally over a few days and got no reply to tell me how much usage I have been using. I rang Vodafone back to get that stupid Lara person & she could not understand what I wanted to do so I was cursing calling her every name under the sun as you would if you were very frustrated so I hung up and had a breather then I rung back and got through to where I needed to be so I had to wait on hold now I was on hold for 54 minutes to be exact I could not believe it luckily it was a free number to call from my mobile but still no one likes to be on hold for nearly an hour. Anyway I explained to the person about the SMS and she had no idea why that was happening and put me on hold to find out what was going on that took 10 minutes. The Lady said that If I want to find out what usage is to check on the internet on the website with my log in details, so I thought alright then ill check on there from now on until the SMS gets sorted out. I then asked when my contract was going to finish cause I knew that it was finishing up in the next couple of weeks but i just thought Id check anyway. When I did ask the lady told me because I upgraded to the 8gb from 6gb plan I was on another 12month contract and I was like wtf!!! no one had told me that I was another 12month contract I was never notified the guy I spoke to before gave me the upgrade in good faith until my contract ran out & now they tell me that there is nothing they can do about it. My home phone number keeps recieving calls from the Vodafone 1300650410 number on their website this has been ongoin since the day I had the landline connected my landline is with Telstra In Toowoomba Queensland I am gettin calls as late as 10pm and I go to work at 3:30am so I need to be asleep at this time I have contacted Vodafone numerous times about this and I am still getting these calls I had three in a matter of 15 mins all from the same woman yesterday.
Not only this but at the moment the mobile services are down and have been since Monday my work has been trying to ring me to let me know that I am to return to work tomorrow as the roads are now cleared but a workmate had to tell me on Facebook as my phone services are dead and as I have recently moved haven't updated my home phone number with my HR dept as only returned to work wednesday last week and HR has been flat out.

Totally incorrect billing. Have been on $49 month plan... never come close to the call, text etc usage this allows but all of a sudden now I somehow have gone $344 over my normal monthly usage... I DONT THINK SO VODAFONE!!!!!

i was paying for a broadband stick but was not connecting so went back and was told i would not have to pay the cancelation fee and signed out then 6 months latter i got a letter from a debt collector this has happened for 3 accounts now all cos i was given wrong information by staff and someone down the line has stuffed up the paperwork

Somehow in Castletown Shopping Centre, in Townsville, there is absolutely no coverage whatsoever. That is until you walk into the vodafone shop. In there it is almost perfect. The rest of the shopping centre not a chance. This is completely unacceptable because if my wife and I split up to do some separate shopping we have to make precise arrangements. It's like we've gone back to having no mobile phones. Does this happen elsewhere and how do they manage perfect coverage in the shop?

I live in Toowoomba Qld. In the middle of the flood crisis I have been without vodaphone reception for two days and there is still no sign of when its likely to return to "normal". In general the reception is poor to fair and I receive delayed text messages or none at all.

Always receive sms messages several days after it was originally sent to me. When I send a SMS, my friends receive them several days later.

Well, where do I start??? I have just finally connected to my vodafail wifi broadband internet, after several days and several times being hung up on from customer care! I only signed up on contract within the last month for this "broadband" wifi after having a useless USB wireless internet through vodafail...

There is plenty more I could complain about, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time with this useless company!

We are a building company and vodafone does not provide coverage for the suburb that we are working in for the next 14 months...vodafone (after many frustrating efforts) agreed back in November 2010 to cancel our mobile broadband plan and guess what? We are still being charged for it. Have contacted their "customer care" dept via email (attaching their email confirmation that the account is to be cancelled) and no response 5 days later...HELP!!!

Was complaining about 4 phones which I have and how text messages were duplicated over a dozen times for four days. All phones ran out of credit in 6 days from purchase, which would normally see us through an entire month. When speaking to a Representative from BOMBAY or wherever the hell in India she was, I was asked to document EVERY SINGLE TEXT ON EVERY SINGLE HANDSET AND HOW MANY CHARACTERS WERE INVOLVED. For god sake, can ANYONE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD DO THIS while on prepaid with no itemised billing????? And even with a bill and logged dates and times, could you seriously be expected to remember word for word everything you spoke about over a 4 day period. It was an obvious 'Brush Off'. The end result, an offer of $10 credit. Considering you spend $49 for a few hindred dollars credit, worked back it was approx an offer of around $1.50 - $2.00 from there DEEP DEEP POCKETS. NETWORK STATUS with vodafail is ZERO!!! and has been alllll day. Ok, yes there are floods, but all other networks are fine. I live in Stretton, Brisbane. I have had NO choice with the poor reception in the last few weeks, but to get a prepaid with Savvytel, which uses the Optus network, and shove it in an old mobile phone of mine. I now carry two mobiles around, because of vodafails failures. Reception with Savvy is always through the roof perfect, and doesn't matter how flood affected we are.

I'm living in Qld, flood zone areas (which is everywhere). Been trying to make calls to family and friends to let them know I'm okay. Cannot connect or call anyone. Finally got connected to customer care, went through a bullshit automated service only to hear some bullshit initially that my privacy is secure (which it isn't) and then get cut off for technical difficulties. Then after calling again, I heard another message saying that there are problem in Queensland.... PEOPLE ARE DYING VODAFONE!!!! might want to get your act together. Imagine that... dying because your vodafone sim couldn't connect to emergency services. Thank god I'm in a safe area for the moment... God help those who aren't and are with Vodafone

We have had two vodafone mobile phones for two months (around about). We were aware we had not received a bill. i have had trouble accessing the vodafone site on computer. this morning we received notifactoin from vodafone about failure to pay the bill. we spoke to them and sorted out the problem and then our phones were disconnected. the message seemed to indicate that we would have all day to sort out this mess. Attempts to contact the service number were unsuccessful.

Got an iPhone 4 in september through vodafone, first month or so was fine but ever since then it is just useless. Everytime I pick my phone up it says 'Network Lost - Change your settings'.. Like not just once or twice a day, I'm talking literally every time I look at it. I constantly run fully out of service (one bar in the middle of surfers paradise), I have family back in NZ and everytime u try call them it just hangs, doesn't ring, doesn't go to answer machine - just does NOTHING! I try send texts and when I come back to it half an hour later it says it never sent. Jeez don't even get me started on the Internet/data.... It is impossible to use it. Every so often it MAY load but takes about 5 mins per page - I'm lucky I have telstra wifi and just log in with that. if they don't fix these problems I will be leaving (for free I might add, not going to be paying them a cent!) but that is a shame as the plan I am on is perfect for me. Get ur s**t sorted .

Vodafone fails again. 9.26am 11th January with flood waters rapidly rising in Brisbane Vodafone FAILED. No voice or data services here in the CBD. I'm writing this on my prepaid Telstra iPad as my iPhone has no service. My wife in a different part of the CBD has found the same. Vodafone web site only says that voice and data services will be partially unavailable due to flood and storm damage. No eta for fix no mention of what is being done and no service. Oh wait I forgot this is Vodafail

I live right in Brisbane city. At the moment there is no network coverage. Tried turning the phone on and off and still nothing. This has been going on since around 10am. I am expecting a call about a job this morning, and because of vodafones incompetence, i may not receive this important call.

my line allways drops out while on a call ,, as iam typing this letter i have no reception 2-3 times a day even at home in broadbeach there are no bars on my phone .. .. everytime i call vodaofone after my reception is back i tell them about the problem and they say that the problems are getting solved .. its been over a year and i still get the same drop outs and no reception..

Vodaphone network has failed during the SE Qld floods with no voice calls or data - not just a few bases which have flodded but the whole network in Brisbane and Gold Coast
