Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

3131 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is TV Antenna would provide better mobile reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:31:31 PM
I was a Vodafone customer for 4 years, always hated both the customer service and the mobile reception - but stayed with them for the cheap rates Vodafone to Vodafone which all my contacts were with. Had a spare Telstra PrePaid SIM which I used in case of emergencies or when travelling, purely for the Reception. Until I got a promotion within IBM and was raised to being OnCall Support. Literally the day of this promotion, IBM Management advised I needed to change my mobile carrier to Telstra, as IBM knew that any phone on Optus towers, including Vodafone, were hopeless for contact and therefore useless for my new role of OnCall Support. I needed to be available 24/7 via Mobile Call, Paging (SMS) and Email as a last resort. So I changed to 3 Mobile, on Telstra Towers, and was a very happy model customer for 2 years: always upgraded handsets, never late paying $250+ bills a month. In July 2010, my contract was running out - so I signed another 24month contract. Within 3 weeks of signing the 2year contract, I was suddenly without Mobile Reception honestly 95% of the time and NEVER had Mobile Internet. I rang the Customer Service and complained, they swapped out my handset and SIM card. Tested again, within 48 hours was having the same issues. Took the phone & SIM back again, but "left it too late" - the 30-day trial had expired. I was stuck with minimal reception and zero mobile internet, with nothing 3 could do. It was during this period of complaining to my friends and family, who told me the issue was Vodafone - that 3 Mobile had sold themselves over to Vodafone! After hearing this I was furious, as I'd just signed a 24-month contract with 3 and was never advised they were now Vodafone! Furthermore 3 knew I signed with them in the first place to avoid Vodafone, that I was purely with 3 for their Telstra coverage. Enraged, I went into a store and threatened to write a letter to the Communications Ombudsman. It was at this time they were suddenly able to swap my phone for a new upgrade, free of charge. I accepted an iPhone4, only to have identical issues: 2 bars out of 5 for Mobile Reception only when I was in the dead centre of town, no coverage otherwise and ZERO mobile internet access. I'd get Voicemails 5+hours late and SMS between 24 and 36hours late. Never received calls unless I was in town literally standing under a mobile tower. I was ringing endlessly complaining to 3, nobody would listen. Went into the Store, nothing they could do and I had to call Support. Still nobody would listen when I said I've already called Support. Then the inevitable happened: due to my lack of network coverage, both mobile and Internet, I missed an IBM Critical Server Alert (Severity-1) as I was uncontactable - nobody could reach me via phone call, SMS or emails. By the time my phone got reception and every alert came though, it was 6hours late: I'd missed the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and IBM were fined $16,000. Needless to say, Management got involved with 3 and my job was put on the line. After numerous angry emails, letters and phone calls from myself and four Management Leads at IBM, 3 began to listen. They've now allowed me to cancel the 24month contract, free of charge, as long as I send the iPhone4 back. Morale of the story: don't stop fighting and don't stop complaining. Don't quit, don't give up - FORCE them to hear you! Eventually someone will listen and THEY CAN ALWAYS MEET YOUR DEMANDS, they're just more interested in stealing your money (and your job) off you first.
27 Dec 2010 03:35:06 PM: Awesome story, well done. Sorry about your SLA's.
28 Dec 2010 11:16:52 AM: Me and my partner are with 3 (vodafone) and our coverage is the worst i have ever experienced. We will stand in one spot and the coverage will drop in and out constantly, we were told we would get coverage at our house but it is very poor. We have tried calling customer service and explaining our situation but they put us on hold and inevitably the phone drops out because of the poor coverage. We cant make phone calls and have a conversation with anyone because the phone drops out and we find that really fustrating when you are running a business. We will be changing provider when our contract ends.

3113 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Beyond Recovery at 27 Dec 2010 03:29:17 PM
Signed up a Vodafone $79/month 1year contract 1st week of November. From day one, I only get 1 bar of signal on my phone (Desire HD) in Prahran. The same phone had full network coverage with Three in the same spot. Moving over to the balcony or even stand near the window (as advised by their call centre techs) didn't change anything.
I kept complaining to their customer care from the first day about calls getting dropped, 3G connection timed out or not able to connect, delay in sending MMS even to a local Three number.
First couple of calls, they kept telling me about some technical work going on around my area and I should give it some time. They promised a call back in a week, but not really sure whats the actual definition of a 'week' in Vodafone terms...'coz it's been almost two months and I haven't received any call backs.
Gave them a month to fix their supposed network issues, and called their tech team again, only to be asked to switch over to normal GSM instead of 3G. When asked why should I be using GSM when am paying for a 3G plan, and that I would like to escalate the matter to their team leader, I was promptly disconnected from the call...and never (as usual) got a call back from the team.
Its frustrating with not only having connection drop outs, but 60-70% of the time the signal goes off completely, forcing the phone to search and register for a network signal, chewing the battery down. Only way to avoid this is to have network selection mode set to Manual instead of Auto, but then if I don't notice a lost signal, then the phone will be out of coverage till I actually notice, search and re-select Vodafone from the service provider list.
Vodafone, unless you can successfully provide the basic service of a cellphone network coverage to your customers, I really think its useless to show off how futuristic you can be by making robots smack on Pinatas...

27 Dec 2010 03:37:16 PM: i live in prahran too and it is a total black spot for vodafone and has been for years. i spend a lot of time in my backyard making calls as bad coverage inside, they still drop out frequently though and the volume varies dramatically. i rang vodafone before all the bad publicity started about their coverage, after waiting nearly an hour on hold they blamed my phone so i tried using another one but same problems. am furious to know that they knew they had problems with coverage and just wouldn't admit it. they should not be allowed to advertise for new customers when they don't have the capacity to service their current ones
3111 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is dreadful at 27 Dec 2010 03:29:05 PM
What a mess - dropped calls - slow conection - no customer service. i thought the problem was with my iphone3g and went to a vodafone store to upgrade to an iphone 4. I was told that even though they had iphone 4's in stock i could not get one because i was an exisisting customer. I was told to go home and try online only to find that they had none in stock on line and it takes 4-6 weeks to be delivered to my home. Thankfully my contract runs out in 3 weeks. NEVER AGAIN..
3107 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 03:28:21 PM
I have only just switched to vodafone. Admittedly, it is slightly the cheapest of the major telco companies, but by a large margin, the worse. I have only had my phone for 2 months and get no reception at all in my house. As soon as i get home, i have to switch to GSM to get any reception at all.
I consider myself a fairly patient person, but having to call Vodafone Customer Care 8 times to get a matter resolved is preposterous. Each time, i was on hold for no less than 40 minutes. For such a large company, I expected much more. After only 2 months, I am seeking alternative ways to cancel my contract or enter a new plan.

3098 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is In many ways at 27 Dec 2010 03:27:29 PM
After several attempts to get my phone to send and receive txt msg's by being given no less than eight codes to enter into my phone, all to no avail. Not only cost me in an emotional sense, as I couldn't contact my teenage daughter ( who only contacts people via txt, as teenagers don't actually want to speek ), but I lost several job oportunities as a result. It took them (VF) several months to remedy this. I have also experienced call drop outs, which forces me to make two or three calls, (which I pay for), for one conversation. I also have noticed of late that a pre-paid plan that I, for a while, have been very happy with is now a real rip off, infact I get less than half of what I used to get for the same money. Great marketing but no customer service!!!!! Talking about customer service, (without being racist), it would be nice to speak to someone, (apart from LARA), that I can understand, therefore having my problems dealt with more promptly and efficiently.
29 Dec 2010 10:59:38 AM: Maybe patchy mobile service is the least of your problems. You may want to put in a little more effort connecting with your daughter...my teenager has no problem speaking with me and I am sure she speaks to her friends, just not to you...MummyFail...

I have been a prepaid customer with vodafone for about 6 years now, so I'm exactly in the same boat as all you post paid customers, but it is still frustrating having my calls drop out, not being able to connect at all to a call, slow internet, and having bad reception all the time. Every time I call I get a customer service rep in Egypt, who tells me my iphone is the problem, when it's not, because when I tried an optus sim, it worked perfectly. It's really frustrating, I haven't recharged in the last month and a half because of my frustration, but prior to that I use to recharge with $100 every month. I know I can change companies, being that I'm not locked into anything, but it's still annoying :(

Poor reception in Melbourne CBD)
I've been with vodafone for 4 years now - prepaid. Which I've put up with for this long because I was a student.
Now, I work in aged care units around the Melbourne inner city area. Cheltenham, Hawthorn, Dandenong, Richmond... NO RECEPTION INSIDE at all! Very roublesome, as I have to rush outside to make a call (rain, checking in/and out of security) to update my supervisor => Vodafone useless for work, will be changing in the new year.
Also, a friend lives in Heidelberg Heights - in Melbourne proper. Never been able to get a signal within his propery. I have to walk 30 metres out of the house to the street and wave the phone over the road to send *every* SMS - I've been doing this for 3+ years! Smoke-signals would be more efficient.
Had a family emergency out there recently where I *NEEDED* to use the vodaphone a lot in a critical period of time. Damn useless P.O.S. Couldn't make calls out, or receive very important calls. Made a distressing situation a lot worse. Vodafone mobile was as useless a brick - can't even use it as a door stop!

3067 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:49 PM
I am stuck on a plan with vodaphone. i have not called to complain, as my in my past experience i end up speaking to someone overseas who can barely understand english, the call is delayed and i get no-where. i have spoken to the staff in store who are unable to help in any way and only direct to me the customer service line..My phone has no coverage at my sisters house which is about 20ks away from where i live . I spend alot of time there as i am currently unwell. It is very stressful when the hospital and friends are unable to contact me,and for me it is frustrating that I can not keep intouch with everyone. I was with Telstra, and now wish i had stayed with them as i did not have these issues in the past.I also had issues with my phone. In the first case i returned it after a couple of weeks, as there was very little memory and the battery would last a day if i was lucky and still does. I was only able to swap for the same phone, which is the worst phone i have ever had.I can not be bothered going in again as the last time i tried, they need send the phone away and they do not have replacements...SO basically, I have about 18months until i can get out of this plan, and go back to Telstra.ARGH!
3066 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:48 PM
I don't mind Vodafone in general but I have had a lot of problems with their Directory Assistance. They frequently cut off the call if they are having trouble finding what I am asking for. A lot of the call centre operators seem to have problems with basic English and the most basic things need to be spelt out to them. What words they don't recognise or they don't know how to spell can be quite hilarious eg. station, hotel. This happened once in an emergency situation and I was so shocked when the call 'dropped out' on the 3rd time after there was a delay in finding the number. It was very distressing. The reason that this is a beef is that we get charged a premium for calling these numbers and unless you ring to follow it up, it is never reimbursed. Good luck with your campaign! Rachel
3058 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is the worst @ customer service at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:39 PM
Now i know why it takes so long to get through to their customer service. It seems like most of their customers are calling them to get their phones working (Thats if they have any signal to get through in the first place)!! What a fantastic phone company they are. I doubt if Vodafone Management could run a piss up in a brewery.
3057 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is painfull at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:32 PM
I have been with voda for 4 years now.
Only have a few signal problems, mainly at my fathers in pakenham as the repeater is at the far side of town. telstra and optus have good signal.
Voda 3g is a joke, turned off the 3g setting in my phone and makes it a lot more reliable and better battery life too.
I have had a few instances of network busy when trying to connect.
Think the biggest problem is the changes made to accomidate these f'n iphones, the network was a lot better before they came along.

I also have problems with my phone dropping out as well as my internet. Usually the internet is the worse... after making many repeated calls only to be told that my area has 100% coverage. Also when speaking on the phone it will cut out randomly or just fade in and out so that the other person on the phone hears me sporatically. I live right by the city - not out in the country. This is not good enough! Thanks for setting up this site... It's nice to know that others have these problems too. Let's hope together we can help to improve the service.

I have sent a letter to Consumer affairs due to Vodafone's failure to respond to my emails and failed telephone calls. Last September I received a pocket wifi which wouldn't work in my area. I returned it within a few days after Vodafone failed to pick it up. I'm still being billed monthly for it. I've also got poor reception for my Vodafone iPhone, I cannot download and use applications.

I have been with Vodafone with a new Iphone 4 for 2 months and it has been the worst mobile phone service I have ever received. So, out of 20 years of having a mobile service, Vodafone has managed to screw it up in 2 months. I am so disgusted, frustrated and annoyed. Not to mention the money this has cost me from lost earnings in my business. Ive had enough of their FuXXXX BullshXX. The are liars, cheats and scamers as far as I am concerned. They dont return my calls. On one occasion I was on hold 1hr 40mins and then got put through to a useless, non-english speaking person that couldnt do a thing! There is alot more but Im getting to angry writing this.

i work in the film industry, and joined vodafone because of what i thought was an amazing cap deal they were offering. I use my phone, ALOT, And need to be contacted 24/7, so thought there 114 cap a month was great.
Ever since i have joined after leaving telstra, all i have experienced is TERRIBLE coverage, (coming from telstra its very frustrating.
I am receiving up to 7/8 voicemails in the middle of the night from messages 10 days earlier. Not good enough.
But the worst, was the deal with my cap was that i had all local phone calls included. When i bought myself an international phone card, which required me to call out from a local number, what vodafone said was in my cap, they charged me for ALL of the international calls, NOT just the local number i dialled to get out of the country. When i queried vodafone, all they said was that "that particular local number" is NOT included in the cap. WHERE did it state that in my contract, and why do they get to pick and choose what local numbers i use and dont use. I was being double charged for my international calls. Buying a phone card, and vodafone ALSO charing me.
NOT HAPPY!!!!!

My wife signed up with Crazy Johns, who use the Vodafone network, in Feb 2010 and has complained several times about the service to no avail, and still has 14 months to go on her contract. The coverage in the Geelong area is, according to the Vodafone map, 100%, but when we visit our Daughter in Lara she has to go outside and stand in the road to get coverage, and even then it's intermittent. Try one of the shopping centres and all she can get is Emergency numbers - what a joke. It's about time we started to fight back at these telco's over their so called 'Great Service', maybe not through a class action, but through a mass court apparance if we all refuse to pay the bills.
More constant publicity is required through all forms of the media until these jerks get their collective acts together.

My calls constantly drop out. I hardly get any coverage and messagescome through days later, sometimes I cannot even send any messages. I amon apre-paidacount,but Vodafone toldmeit will cost em $30.00 getoutof theirpre-paid.....WHT?? I was also told that if I wanted to opt out of pre-paid, it had to be done by a credit card, I do not have a credit card and was promptly told (by the customer service officer, and I use that term very very loosely) to go and buy one then !!! Over Vodaphone, their service is poor.

I can't even get coverage at home. If this was a remote area, I might be less concerned, but I'm 15km from the centre of Melbourne, and in the middle of a large black spot. The answer I consistently get from Vodafone is that they cover 95.82% of the population, but this close to the city, not to have coverage? And forget 3G - I'd just be happy to get sms and phone without dropouts.
2974 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very disappointed at 27 Dec 2010 03:08:39 PM
I have been with vodafone for over 10yrs but in the year the service is so poor I am considering switching carriers. I cannot afford to lose money due to sms messages delayed for a day & voicemail msgs delayed for a day. 3G is a joke with vodafone.
2963 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Dreadful at 27 Dec 2010 03:05:43 PM
So quite a while back (1.5 years into my contract now) I moved from Three to Vodafone because due to each company's coverage checker, I was out of Three's 3G coverage area, but was within VF's 3G coverage. This is sort of true. If I leave my phone set to use 3G, I usually only get 1 bar or no bars of 3G coverage inside my house. This means if I get a call, I have to bolt outside to answer it otherwise the call will drop when the phone switches over to 2G/EDGE.
To solve this, I have just hard-set my phone to use 2G/EDGE permanently, which of course means my data speed is hindered massively, though it also means I get full bars in my house. I don't see how I can have full bars of one and basically none of the other. Now I've heard about this class action happening, I may try calling Vodafone and try to get released from the remainder of my contract.
I tried this recently as when I bought my HTC Magic, it said we would get "Regular updates to Android", however what I really got was one update to v1.6, and then nothing for over a year. In the end I gave up on trying to find out from VF when an update would be coming out and just upgraded to CyanogenMod myself.
Useless.

I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 provided by Vodafone and can NEVER get on to the internet...it says 'requesting' and then says I 'don't have enough data coverage'! No sh*t sherlock! Defeats the purpose of having a blackberry too! After 6 months of enduring this, I called up Vodafone, was on hold for 44 minutes so I hung up. Consumers can't even get THROUGH to make a complaint! Ridiculous!

I live in Echuca, have used Vodafone for over 5 years, and use 2 Nokia's Locked to Vodafone, one which is a spare because the other had to be fixed under warranty and i needed a phone, which can both access their 3G service here. But it is constantly dropping out, no signal, sms wont recieve or send, cant make a call, and it can be faulty for days. Calling Vodafone Customer Service is a waste of time as all they tell me to do is take out the sim card, clean it, turn the phone off and on, there are no network problems blah blah blah.... well im sure you have all heard it before. They treat the customers like they are stupid, i know there is nothing wrong with the phones, but they screw me around over and over, im nearly ready to switch to Telstra, at least i know their network dosn't freeze every second day. To think this is their Upgraded Network here!!!! Let me tell you, its a big pile of crap.

27 Dec 2010 03:39:15 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Vodafone placed a default on my credit record because of an 'outstanding' bill that was ALREADY PAID, they later confirmed that this was a mistake and that the bill had been paid but said they are able about to remove the default.
I recently moved house and could not even have electricity connected because of this...
I'm also saving every penny to buy my first home, but may have to wait up to 5 YEARS to do so because I cannot have any form of credit in my own name.
I've given up calling them about this, they just transfer me call or hang up on me.

First they tried to tell me it was my phone, get a new one. So I did @ my expense. Still had the same problem. Got them to cancel the contract, wasting 4 hours of MY time and MY money. Best part was they paid for the cancellation of the contract, but I STILL had to pay for 2 years of contract......

I keep getting dropped calls and signals. Phone calls will drop and I have to remake the calls again and hence rack up additional flag fall charges.
When connecting to the web on my iphone at home, I usually get dropped connections and when reconnected, I will find that I am now connected via a third party signal (since the third party has a stronger signal), hence incurring unnecessary third party charges!

I switched from Telstra to Vodafone about 9 months ago. They messed up my combo plan so bad thinking I have 2 phones instead of 1 phone and mobile broadband. Hours on the phone complaining eventually they credited the account and gave me a years worth of free broadband. End result I haven't had to pay a bill yet and got an Apple iPhone 4 as well. Everything is working fine now. I also have adsl 2 with TPG. They would have to be the most unethical Telco I have dealt with ... the more you complain the more consistent network performance you get and I have to invlove the TIO. STAY AWAY FROM TPG AT ALL COSTS!
2884 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No reliable service at 27 Dec 2010 02:50:21 PM
Since i purchased a phone on a plan (now one year in) i have had consistent drop outs and no signal at all. My texts are delayed in being received by up to 24hours. I went back within a month of purchase - they replaced the sim card and this made no difference. Went back again they sent the phone off for repair - came back with software upgrade - made no difference at all. In the mean time they gave me a replacement phone that did not charge and was faulty. At my third visit i insisted on a new phone as i had logged two phone calls with the support service who told me that the service connection in my area was fine and not dropping out. I was refused the new phone and they had no replacement phone to give me and therefore i would be with no phone. THe attendent at the Chadstone store guaranteed that i would be rung when one was available. Call did no happen i went back in and they were apologetic but passed the buck between workers. Asked to speak to a manager - not available was dealing with another customer - i waited 45mins then left - i could not leave my phone because yet again they had no replacement phone to give me. Throughout this entire experience not once did any vodafone employer indicate to me that this might be a network problem and i asked several time was i alone in this experience and had the handset that i had chosen had any difficulties. I was led to believe that i was alone and that it was probably the handset.

i signed a contract with vodafone back in 2008 i believe, i was under the impression that i would get perfect coverage in my area, as i was told by the sales rep.
i had nothing but trouble trying to get reception for my broad band i even moved my whole computer around the house. nothing would work it was slow and sometimes unresponsive.
i rang vodafone to express my frustration and concerns and all i got told was the computer shows you have coverage in your area, this made me extremely made and i began venting my fury at the person on the other end of the phone whome i couldn't understand completely which made it more frustrating.
anyways i stopped paying the bills where they eventually sent me a letter stating to pay almost $4,000. which consisted of late fees disconnection fees and so forth or else they would take me to court.
i ended up paying the bill off and then vodafone sent me another letter at the end of my payment plan stating that i had a couple of hundred dollars to pay so i paid it in full. i then rang the debt collection agency to say i paid it and they told me i had paid too much, well then i flipped it even further, i rang vodafone to tell them i wanted my money back they stated it may take upto 3 weeks to process and send me a cheque i said fine so long as i get my money back with was over $300. anyways 6 weeks went past no cheque i rang them back in a fit of rage and demanded my money the answer i got was there is a back log and it may take a few more weeks to get it to u i said u have 2 weeks to get it to me or im going to higher authority, i had the cheque in my hand a week later.
all in all i payed out a contract and late fees for a service that i got maybe a month or 2 full use out of.
so yeah im really ticked off and to find out people may get there money back eventually through a class action annoys me because i have no proof that i had paid it as i have thrown all the bills and any form of communication that i had with them out.

My wife and I live near Geelong. We were previously with 3 Mobile and had no issues. It was suggested that we change to Vodafone as 3 were changing over to Vodafone plus the coverage is better. We were shown a coverage map that covers all our area no worries. Since changing over not a day goes by where our phonecalls drop out or can't even get through. We can stand in the same spot in our house and the connection comes in and out. Locked into a 24 month contract, if only we knew.

I recently changed from 3 to vodafone when I got my new iPhone 4 in November. I live in a regional Victorian city where I could always get good coverage with every other phone network. Now, I can't get any reception inside my house with vodafone, so there's no point in even having an iPhone, let alone any phone at all. People can't call me, I can't message anyone or receive messages (sometimes I luck out with one bar near a window), can't access the internet and I've been forced to use the home phone, meaning expensive conversations are now adding up. I'm regretting changing to vodafone so much it's not funny.

After two days and over 6 hours on the phone complaining that my service does not work, my phone repeatedly turns itself off and I have to factory reset at least once a week they suggest I upgrade my phone. I think this would be fine, but they're charging me to replace a faulty unit!!! No credit on my account and no additional service! 100% fail to vodaphone. I'm changing carriers.

I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini 10 on a 24mth contract. That was back in the last week of July 2010 and within 4 weeks I had the phone and free modem that came with it at the shop because they were both loosing reception, Phone battery kept going flat within 36hrs of a full charge. (Being new to Australia I don't SMS or call alot of people.) Modem keeps dropping out of reception and the whole phone switches off altogether and they still say nothing is wrong with it. They have sent it away to get fixed and it still comes back the same. I will never deal with Vodafone as a network provider again and I will never buy anything from Crazy Johns as they have been worse than useless at helping me fix any of the issues I have experianced

2753 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shit Service at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:24 PM
Firstly, I would like to bring to attention people that Vodafone has the worst reception in almost all areas of Melbourne, resulting in calls dropping out and generally wasting credit recalling or redialling. Also when trying to make aq call, the phone just does nothing for a few minutes then hangs up repeatedly. Then there is the issue with customer service which has been outsource to a call centre in INDIA!!! ffs i cant speak to somebody who speaks english just to maintain my account. I am so pissed off at the amount of credit and time wasted by myself just to make a simple call.

We are a corporate customer having over 200 vodafone 3GS iPhones. I have a repeater within 10 mts of my office. I still fluctuate between full 3G signal & no network every single day on every single call. What excuse does Vodafone have for over 24 months of essentially no service. Nil.

I had rung previously to inform vodafone that I am getting bills for the wrong person. I have given over all details and also raised concerns that my bill is going elsewhere as it is more often than not, not sent to my hotmail account. The unhelpful Egyptian said that there was no need to fear, all my billing information was not being sent elsewhere. She also said that she would contact XXX XXXXX and apologise for his personal information being sent to me.
Well months have passed, I actually called XXX XXXXX myself because I tire of getting his bill monthly. He said he had never been contacted by Vodafone and had no idea his bill was being sent to me. He then called and apparently had it all sorted out. Well it seems that that is not the case.
I tried email and it took a month to get an automated response to Why is there an unusual or unexpected charge on my current bill?
I replied asking why they were sending my non-relevant auto resposes to which I got:
Hi ,
Thank you for your patience.
Vodafone apologises for the delay in responding to your enquiry within our normal time frames, and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We understand that due to this delay, you may have utilised other avenues to resolve your query.
Please note that Vodafone are unable to assist with handset upgrade or mobile internet technical issues via email. For assistance with these queries, please call Vodafone on 1555 from your Vodafone handset or 1300 650 410 from a landline.
If you still require assistance via email, please advise us within 72 hours, and we will respond as soon as possible. Alternatively the answer to your enquiry may be found by registering and accessing the My Vodafone website.
I then threatened to go to the ombudsman as they were in breach of privacy laws. I then got a HUMAN response (OMG the shock)
I apologise for the delay in replying. We have recently been experiencing higher than usual email volumes, and we are working through a backlog.
I have arranged to stop these bills from being sent to your email address. You will not receive any further emails regarding this account. Please delete any emails you have received to date.
I have 2 months to run on my 2 year contract and then I'm outta there!

Waiting for a call from my husband the other day, I was holding the phone in my hand so that I didn't miss it, but sure enough, the call went straight through to message bank. No indication that a message had come through. So I waited. And waited. Then called him. Went to message bank. The message didn't download to his phone, either. This went on for about 20 minutes. Eventually, a text got through. This is just the latest in a long line of missed calls, texts and voicemails that don't appear for days, and line drop-outs. All that I can say is that we moved to VF this year after a miserable time with Telstra, and then Optus. Although this qualifies as the worst yet.
2740 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is rubbish at 27 Dec 2010 02:14:45 PM
I had to sign up for a Telstra pre-paid phone to get services I am supposedly already getting (and paying for). I signed up for mobile broadband that I could cancel at any time. Doesn't work on my handset, I can't cancel it and I'm paying $8 a month on top of my regular service plus the cost of my prepaid service to actually get access.

I gave Vodafone the flick because of bad service and moved to 3. Then Vodafone bought out 3! What the...anyways 3 wireless has been an absolute disaster. Sometimes it could even open my emails in peak hour. Was given 3 different reasons why service was slow, they were... You need a cord from the computer to the modem to improve service 2.We are updating our network. 3.You are in a low coverage area (12 kms from central Melb?!). The time spent on the phone dealing with this company is plain frustrating. They certainly dont have a prob sending bills and taking money. Just gave up on it, changed to lowest plan possible and waited for contract to run out.
Whats frustrates me is the money they spend on fancy shops, and marketing and media to get you signed up and last 6 months in business but the sheer size of these companies and the money they pull keeps them rolling along until the next sucker shows up.

I run a recruitment business on the top floor of a building (with a window seat) in the middle of Melbourne CBD. Believe it or not, even in the middle of a CBD in Australia, my reception just blows in and out. (Well, it just blows!)
I can't even count the number of very important calls that drop out... and to add to the pain, I can't get reception for 15 minutes to call them back.
This service is pathetic, and I have had enough!

2706 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No Coverage at 27 Dec 2010 02:05:36 PM
I moved from Optus to Vodafone about 2 months ago and we were promised that we would have have complete coverage in our area. No to little access to internet, to make a phone call is unbearable. I have had to sign up with optus again on a $5 plan in case of an emergency as I have a new born and can not rely on vodafone and there minimum 40 minute wait for no customer service or help. Had enough of Vodafone.
2705 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Completely Unacceptable Network Reliability at 27 Dec 2010 02:05:25 PM
I transferred from 3 AUST 3 weeks ago as my Blackberry Bold finally died due to over use! I wanted the Blackberry Torch and had to get it on Vodafone... whom I thought had a good reputation. Vodafone did have a good reputation locally several years ago... and internationally.
Well I am now regretting changing to Vodafone, and never thought I'd miss 3 AUST. We all know what 3 AUST was like when they commenced in AUS - but now their customer service, pricing and network coverage cannot even be compared to Vodafone!
My new Blackberry has Vodafone firmware (naturally) and this leaves a lot to be desired! The handset's reception is terrible - fluctuates and I cannot even access Blackberry services half the time! Calls drop out, and I don't receive messages, emails, facebook notifications in a timely manner. I get nothing, then I receive everything at once!
Being a passionate Blackberry user - I am confident it is not the handset, and comparing my 3 AUST service to the level of service provided by Vodafone I know it is the network! Very disappointing Vodafone.

Vodafone should actually employ some people in Australia. They don't have any or if they do, they hide when the complaints come. The phone they sold me, a Sony Ericson didn't work - so I mailed it back to them. That was 3 months ago - never heard from them since, yet the monthly bill of $139 still comes in. Not a bad effort Vodafone - bill someone without a phone.

2691 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 02:00:52 PM
I recently bought an iPhone4 through vodafones website, I had it for 3 weeks and my bag was stolen from me that had my phone in it. I did a police report also. I reported it to vodafone and they didnt seem to care, all they cared about was keeping my contract running for 24 months with no phone, at the same time there was no insurance offered to me and I was told they could not track the phone! I have other prepaid phones through vodafone and the service kept dropping out sometimes for as long as 24 hours. If I can get out of this stupid contract with this company I would really appreciate it!!!! They do nothing but rip you off!!!
2689 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is SO FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 02:00:09 PM
I live in a country area so we have to choose our mobile providers carefully. I went into a vodafone store looking to go on a plan but my biggest concern was getting coverage in Gippsland, Victoria. They 100% reassures me I would get coverage. When I got home and set up my phone, guess what, NO RECEPTION. I can drive 30 minutes to the largest town in our area, Traralgon to get reception but even then, calls drop out, I can't make calls and the re-send button gets hit about 30 times before the message sends. So I'm paying for a plan I can't use. I bet they're happy though, they tricked me into signing their contract.
2688 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Big fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:59:56 PM
Mobile broadband reception is terrible in Clayton, a fairly close Melbourne suburb. About half the time I can't connect at all, sometimes for 24 hours or more. Very convenient when you have important stuff to take care of.
Good thing I signed up for month-to-month mobile broadband even though the sales reps repeatedly tried to talk me into a fixed term contract. One sales rep in particular was very rude and upon my insisting on something, blurted "Are you serious?". Yes, I am. If you're not happy working in customer service, get a different job.
The sames sales reps kept losing my bank statements and other documents I provided, so I had to go back twice to get everything to them. Each time I went there, they again tried to force me into a fixed term contract. I suspect they pretend to lose your stuff just to get you back in and sell the contract to you.

Out of the two year contract of hell now, thankfully.
Had Vodafone mobile braodband. Hah what a joke.
Whenever it rained - no reception. Whenever the wind was wrong -no reception.
Constant drop outs. Constant restarts.
Totally NO CUSTOMER SERVICE either online, by phone or from the brain dead pre-pubescent staff at Frankston.
Then they had the temerity to try to make me renew.
On top of which the so called plan was always overcharged. A disgrace which the ACCC should investigate.
Keep sponsoring the Aussie Cricket team - they are just as bad! How appropriate!

Our family signed up with orange then three took over years ago as soon as vodaphone took over DROPOUTS and NO service. This was a concern when we went to Tassie before vodaphone took over we could be contacted all over Tassie when they took over we were unable to contact anyone in certain areas. The locals just asked us if we were with vodafone. BIG concern when we have eldely parents. Have complained to vodaphone and virtually got told to deal with it. As soon as the contract finishes we ae GONE. Sad thing is we never had problems when we used orange/three . VODAFONE Doesnt Care

I was cought out in a shopping centre car park on the 3.12.2010, being local to the Melbourne CBD you think I would have coverage, Having a spine problem occur entering the car and then not being able to call out for atleast 20 minutes of trying, you would think atleast one call out to notify help was impossible. Very unreliable and completely unpredictable can't believe you can charge for that service.. Dan

Just moved from QLD. Had bad reception for the past two months.Calls kept dropping and reception issues meant the conversation was muffled and could not hear each other. Internet is very slow sometimes pages dont even open and calling customer care is a pain as they keep you on hold for more than an hour and then the phone cuts out before you have talked to anyone.
