Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

service keeps disappearing, calls keep dropping out, and when i try and call my friends back... nothing. i have internet and phone through vodafone... both are really poor connections. services have disappeared, like informing me that i've received a bill... and all i get is an SMS telling me my bill is overdue and to pay immediately. i dont call customer service to tell them as i don't have the time to waste sitting in a phone queue... would probably drop out anyway.

You are a wilfully inept and appalling company from your marketing division through to technological support. I want even mention your service department because it doesnt exist. Having suffered months of expensive roaming charges i have now returned to fractured 3G service. If i had the money I would exit Vodafone now!!!

I called customer service line last Friday and hold the line for almost 1 hour and finally had to give up... I will never recommend this service provider to anyone again.

I bought a netbook plan for when I travel into Melbourne. The internet drops out all the time, even when it says it is connected. I rang up to complain and was told "we don't guarantee coverage for where you live". I know that. I understand and accept drop outs in the country. I don't understand or accept drop outs in Melbourne's inner suburbs!

I didn't pay to have limited to no reception for several hours per day in the centre of the city whilst at work.
Unless I stand still when on the phone, it will drop out. Not ideal.

1076 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Ridiculous reception failure at 19 Dec 2010 09:09:37 PM
After a year of having to put up with constant reception drop outs in the middle of the CBD, I have finally changed to Optus and have never looked back. No idea why you would persist with their reluctance to remedy the problem after all this time!
1075 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Absolutely Appalling at 19 Dec 2010 09:06:23 PM
I'm sick Of getting System Failure Messages on my Blackberry that just cannot be explained. I have re-installed my OS and the couple of extra BB programmes only to have exactly the same problem. I know it isn't me, my handset or my imagination as was suggested by one support technician in Bangalore. Joke.
1066 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very Disappointing at 19 Dec 2010 08:27:50 PM
Months of problems with call dropouts, "no service", useless data performance. I've had a replacement phone and a replacement SIM but still not fixed. I did manage to get their cancellations department to give me one month's credit and they assured me they're working through trying to get the network issues resolved. Is this all because of the merger with the 3 network going pear-shaped? Or a botched network expansion? Maybe they shouldn't have installed Vista :-)
1063 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Useless provider at 19 Dec 2010 08:07:46 PM
Im on Vodafone pre-paid, been with them for about 9 years. I've not been able to get a balance on 1555 for months, when dialled a voice system says something like 'ok you want a balance, just a minute...to get a balance simply call 1512 from your mobile". I mean what the...
Then today I tried to send a text message, then got 7 texts instantly from Vodafone advising that i had insufficent funds. I tried to recharge online, but the system was down..an online message advised this. So I then went out to buy a recharge voucher, followed the instructions (dial 1511, but the options were different to those printed on the voucher. A voice system kept asking me to enter the invoice or mobile number i wished to pay followed by the hash key) Each time I entered it the voice said "i'm sorry, please enter the invoice or mobile number you want to pay". So in complete frustration I called 1555 (customer service), but was put into another 'merry go round', where I could speak to no-one, after trying all of the different options I did get through to someone...In India, how the hell could he possibly help me...well he tried and wished me a good day and put me through to 'someone who could help', the message "Hi welcome to Vondafone, the area you are calling is closed, we are open tomorrow from *am to *pm". I am moving away, this company is BAD!, and they leave their customers in the dark.

1061 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Fixed my vodafone, kind of at 19 Dec 2010 08:03:33 PM
I moved from the iPhone to the HTC Desire HD, and the internet is faster, get less drop outs and better signal everywhere. Vodafone's network is still quite bad, but the Desire HD works much better on their crummy network than the iPhone, so perhaps people should change to the Desire HD, it is a much better phone as well, I moved from the iPhone 4
1057 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Non-existent internet and poor poor coverage at 19 Dec 2010 07:26:35 PM
I am so angry with vodafone. I am disgusted that they can get away with providing such poor service and coverage. My internet rarely works, compared to my friends on Optus and Telstra, the coverage area is just terrible. My phone is often out of serivce. I often receive messages hours after they have been sent to me and sometimes don't receive messages at all. Messages that I send are sometimes never received. I will be changing as soon as my contract is up and telling everyone I know to steer clear of vodafone. I can't believe they are able to get away with this, as far as I am concerned they are fraudulently operating as they are not providing the service that they advertise and they are well aware of this.

1051 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Total Fail at 19 Dec 2010 06:57:06 PM
Vodafone couldn't even manage to get me signed up to a contract, let alone provide me with a bad phone service LOL & by the sounds of this site, I'm just happy now they failed at even that. After sending off scans of passport, credit cards, bank statements & Vodafone taking them over 4 days and 5 emails, they just rejected my application for a contract - no reason whatsoever & downright rude reply, even though my credit history is AAA. Total waste of my time & effort, but after reading through this site I'm now thanking my lucky stars.
1044 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is erm - Great Fail at 19 Dec 2010 06:03:28 PM
how hard is it to get onto customer disSERVICE? Aside from the drop outs during the wait, they then blame your phone/your coverage area/your battery/ anything they can to fool the masses into thinking that it isnt vodafails fault. Switched sim, and all is happy now!

As a vodafone customer for 9 years, The last year with my nokia data was fairly slow, however 12 months ago got a blackberry handset upgrade. Worst ever, internet slower, call dropouts, late messages, the works yet my fone showed Full 3G reception. Numerous calls (24 in total), being transferred from person to person to person to whoops we hung up on you, no assistance $600 to get out of contract and now with Telstra Nxt G. Never looked back except always perfect reception and data speed superb. I wish i still had my $600 though.....

You should all use Telstra. While their billing systems are a bit buggered, their network is tops and their customer service is improving heaps. If you have a problem with their billing - call and they assist big time or you can contact David Thodey the CEO directly.

I rarely get 3G connection in Melbourne CBD and am lucky if I can get a miserable connection for voice calls. 4 weeks ago I didn't have any connection at all for over 24 hours in my area only 3 kms from the CBD! I used my partner's Optus sim card and the connection was perfect.
This is not a service worth paying for! ACCC please help us get out of this useless company.

1016 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very fail at 19 Dec 2010 03:02:28 PM
Optus, Vodafone and 3 have digusting 3G reception, as they operate on a 2100mhz frequency meaning they need lots of towers in short distances, whereas telstras need fewer towers over longer distances. On top of this, Tesltra has been building infrastructure for years, and have a massive lead over the other telcos. If you want a smartphone get it on Telstra. You get what you pay for.

1006 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is NoVoDaFone at 19 Dec 2010 01:25:00 PM
Ironic, isn't it, that 'Vodafone' is an amalgamation of shortened words for 'Voice, Data, Fone'. Because since I joined them, voice services have worked sporadically, data services have NEVER worked to any extent that might be considered useful, and the phone I purchased on a plan with them failed to perform certain vital functions despite being new out of the box. Luckily, Vodafone has it all figured out, I've found: their staff refuse to take complaints in store - you must call the help line (I simply refuse to refer to it as a 'customer service' line). But you can't get through to the help line without spending half your day waiting for someone to answer - that is, if your call isn't dropped! Try emailing them, and you'll receive a non-specific mass-produced response that amounts to 'We know, and we don't care to make any reparations or even sympathise.' So you're stuck. Just remember, and I swear I use this to get me through the day when every call I make cuts out and every text message I send comes back as 'failed to send', Vodafone is running itself into the ground. No customer will return to Vodafone after incidents like this, and a telecommunications company relies on its customer base. Somehow Vodafone finds it in its interest to ignore this fact. Reality: they will be laughing on the other side of their faces when droves of customers leave it, never to return. I'd prefer to pay more with another telco than pay for a service that doesn't work. And that's what I'll tell the hapless agent who calls me asking why I am switching providers when my contract term is up.

Just come out of my contract with 3 and after 6 years of great service. Now find myself a Vodaphone client. Was told all 3 customers are being transferred to V over the next 6 months and the service is able to cope. Not my experience to date with regular drop outs within the CBD which never happened with 3. Will hold my fire until I can see if they have fixed the problem as they say.
976 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is BAD at 19 Dec 2010 09:30:09 AM
I cannot believe it. I jave been with vodafone for 5 years after being with optus and during that time they were excellent and had very good coverage. ATM i am lucky to get 3 bars on my phone..and that's when i am in the heart of the CBD. I also get SMS that are 4 days old one after another and voicemail that is even a week old. I know they have bought out 3 and are tying all the networks into one..but how much longer do we have to put up with this shonky service..its not like i am paying for a cheap service. And drop outs occur a lot!
what will happen if my wife one day is in distress and cannot get through to me..for me to get the msg 5 days later? Disgraceful and i am going back to optus.

972 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Data Download extreme at 19 Dec 2010 09:20:23 AM
I have recovery agencies trying to get me to pay $900 for a one month bill for data download, which I did not use with my two year contract with V. One month before the end of my contract using a Blackberry I started using an Iphone and was charged exuberant rates because I was not using the same phone I sign up with. Imagine, a mobile data download bill of $900. My cap was $79. How can they do that to their customers? THEY ARE CRAZY, I will hate them for the rest of my life! I also had issues with dropped services, imposed overseas traveling rates and EXTREMELY APPALLING INDIAN CUSTOMER SERVICE who don't understand the aussie language & refer you to long time dead customer service centres in Hobart! Vodafone is a JOKE, they are SELFISH abusers and corporate SHARKS!
971 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is bad at 19 Dec 2010 09:03:54 AM
we signed up to a combo deal, phone and internet (wireless). We live 10 km from CBD centre, we get good coverage of all networks. Then we made the switch to vodapain, don't even bother turning on the internet, called up vodaphone and we suddenly got 1 bar , they thought this was ok. the phone is unbelieveable, i can just be sitting down and suddenly i get 10 missed calls that could be a day old , 5mins old etc.
stuck in contract for another 14 months.

954 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Horrendous at 19 Dec 2010 07:39:19 AM
Been putting up with Vodashit's crap for 21mths... only 3 to go. Same old stuff - constant call drops outs, no reception, missing txts sending/receiving. The classic - I sit at my bench on a call with full signal, I lean over 20cm and bam, zero signal, call drops out. And there's plenty of places where this occurs. Don't even get me started on their customer service. How do they continue to get away with it and sign up more naive suckers?
952 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is woeful and incompetent at 19 Dec 2010 07:37:48 AM
Increasing instances of dropped calls and unable to make calls, even with full signal. Very unhappy with this lousy service. Very unhappy with indifferent call centre operators in India. Very unhappy with Vodafone. Will be changing back to Telstra.
950 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 100 at 19 Dec 2010 07:28:25 AM
I use Just mobile that uses the Vodaphone Network. Continued poor reception, call drop outs, but most frustratingly, delayed voicemail and texts! Sometimes 48 hrs plus. It seems that when one finally gets through, another 5 come with it. This has got me into strife with the handbrake as she thinks I am ignoring her. As soon as my prepaid balance is zero, I am switching to Amaysin!!

Vodafail should look at reimbursing people for money paid when service is faulty, at least let customers grt out of their contract without penalties, they can't fix the problem, stayed silent over known issues, why should customers be penalised because they trusted a phone provider in this day and age, most of Vodafail customers are just waiting to swap to another company. Let us swap to optus, teltra etc without penalties, Vodafail has failed us, and we still pay to pay every month for lamentable service????????

936 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is NO SERVICE !!! at 19 Dec 2010 06:21:16 AM
Have 3 phones on a business plan all the same problems. Dropped calls that frustrates customers and my staff are getting abused now because of Vodafail's poor service. Voicemail takes hours and even days to come through. I will have full 3G reception and in 10 seconds standing in the same place, same position the service will drop out (NO SERVICE) come back as low reception no 3G etc.
Trying to talk to a customer rep is like sliding naked over sand paper. The Vodafail network in India is just as bad from the sounds of things.

Hello people, do the fucking math.
a) Since vodafone and 3 have merged, vodafone are slowly converting all the 3 customers to their network. The network is overloaded.
b) rome wasnt built in a fucking day. Do you think it takes 1 hour to build and new tower and make the reception better...
c) Why do you think it takes so long to get through on the phone to customer care. Because their just sitting having a cup of coffee not answering the phone? no because just like this all you people are ringing to complain about an already known issue thats being worked on. not to mention all you consumer whores that want the iphone4 and then stare into the sky puzzled at why stored are "sold out".
Seriously, give them a break. It takes time to fix such a major issue. i do acknowledge businesses that are trying to run their own companies however do you actually think any of the other telco's are any better? Telstra rapes you for your money. Optus is shit on all fronts including reception. 3 makes you pay for data roaming charges and drops calls when it switches to its telstra/roaming reception. their all as bad as each other.
And Gill your a fucking dumb ass you signed up two years ago of course your 49 cap gives you 410 worth of credit each month. Do you really think that they would just automatically put you on the new one? no cause then you would have a bitch and a moan that they didnt get your consent. you can switch to the new 49 cap at anytime. they only gave you a credit to stop your whinging and demands!

919 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is worst network on the earth at 18 Dec 2010 10:37:07 PM
I have been using Vodafone from more than 6months. I live at one of the hottest places of Melbourne city. There is hardly one point of signal outside the house and absolutely no signal in the house. Call always drops in the mid of the conversation and have to forget about reconnecting. I am also facing the frequent connection error problem. I have been told by the customer service representative that there might be some problem with the sim card; please replace the sim card which has got the more signal reception power. When I have personally gone to the Vodafone store, they said there are no sim cards which have got the more signal reception power. They have simply given me the same sim card and I am still facing the same problem. Clearly indicates that there is no coordination between them. That Customer service is the worst; we have to leave the phone on for hours together for our turn to talk to the customer service representative. Some times mobile battery might get flat before we get our turn. They said they are in the progress of some technical improvement, but I have not seen any improvement from past 6months. Finally I would like to say that Vodafone is the worst network service I ever seen in my life.

899 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Useless regional coverage at 18 Dec 2010 08:34:34 PM
I've had bad Vodafone coverage in central Melbourne. Drives me crazy when it says "can't connect to server"! And recently I travelled through regional Victoria and for 9/10 days I had no mobile coverage while my friends on other networks had no problem. Useless! Can't wait for my contract to finish.

884 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is pathetic at 18 Dec 2010 06:47:44 PM
How can you get congestion causing call dropouts and inability to dial out in the middle of Melbourne on a so called "Tier one" telco? I couldn't even call for an ambulance if i needed to. On top of the voicemail delayed delivery "feature" , constant drop outs and the blackspots this really shows how poor the network has become. 3rd world mobile networks perform better.
21 Dec 2010 03:20:33 PM: 112 is an emergency number that you can call and it will find the closest network tower and use it, no matter the company.
878 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is the worst customer service I have ever received at 18 Dec 2010 05:59:33 PM
For the Last two years I have been on a contract with Vodafone, paying 79 dollars a month for a phone that broke (was not at fault) however my insurance did not cover the breakage, despite paying extra insurance for precisely this possible eventuality. I decided to remain with vodafone despite weird data black holes and shoddy phone call connectivity, as This is my partners service provider and it works out a lot cheaper.I recently entered the last three months of my contract, at which point Vodafone will replace your handset and start a new contract. I went into the store on Friday only to discover that the handset that I want is only available to order over the phone. Today I spent over four hours on Hold and being misdirected to various departments, when all I want to do is Purchase a new service with them, and when the phone call was actually connected the call failed.
I'm waiting for my contract to expire and then moving to another service provider.

855 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Huge failure! at 18 Dec 2010 03:37:21 PM
I live in South Melbourne, running my business from home. I took out a $100 a month Plan to use for business purposes. Only to find my vodaphone is unusable from within the house. If someone rings my vodaphone I have to walk out into the street to talk, and even that is poor reception. An absolutely usless contract made with vodaphone at my expense.
854 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Drop outs Galore at 18 Dec 2010 03:24:25 PM
Get drop outs galore! Blackberry keeps going between EDGE and 3G in the CBD, never used have this problem before 3 and Voda formed VHA, bring back the former CEO Russell Hewitt and his old team i say....He got the network pumping before the new CEO Nigel Dews and their 3 Network mentality screwed it up! Patience running out!!
853 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Its meant to provide mobile service isnt it? at 18 Dec 2010 03:24:00 PM
Dropped calls going down a hill, dropped calls around the house, its ridiculous. Never EVER going with vodafone again or 3. They are crap and load all these customers without updating the infrastructure. Buildig your bottom line may be important but it will be your downfall if you dont keep customers happy.

Just ditched Vodafone for an Optus SIM for my Ipad this week, the difference in speed is like night and day. Even Optus, with the criticisms they get, is still HEAPS better than Vodafone.
834 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ultra-mega-maxtreme fail at 18 Dec 2010 01:07:03 PM
Been a Three customer for years & always had ok coverage - but as soon as they merged with Vodaphone, my coverage dropped out entirely in the house. (despite 3 asuring me nothing has technically changed yet. I no longer have service on 3G in the house - the only way I can keep my phone operating is to leave it set to 2G only. Reception is terrible & echoes, and Data is not worth bothering its so slow.
I reported this problem to Three over a month ago, the response was poor. The extent of their technical support was 4 different people telling me on 4 separate occasions - "have you turned your phone off and back on again, turn of 3G..."
I've now waited over a month for them to "Investigate" the network coverage problem, and today they reported back to me: Apparently they have not found any problem with the network "because no one else in my area has reported a problem within 500m of my house" (their words exactly) !!!!
So basically - because no one else has complained - they are not prepared to do anything or even admit there might be a problem... So everyone else out there, don't forget to report the problems you are having...
Hi Ho Hi Ho - its off to the TIO....

794 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is my business is suffering at 18 Dec 2010 10:22:36 AM
Our business recently signed up to Vodaphone. What a disaster!! We have 10 mobiles on this plan and everyone is complaining of late SMS messages, no reception and at times an inability to call out or receive calls even when signal strength appears ok. Just about everyone in the organisation has tried ringing the so called service department to get answers. After sitting on hold for half the day they run you through a std script which will only frustrate the hell out of the caller. One of their operators recently blamed the phones that we were using. Fortunately the phones were bundled with the plan, so Vodaphone sent out new phones at no cost. Guess what? Same Problems!!! Do not use Vodaphony... Especially for your business!

Vodaphone and 3 have had major problems with roaming and billing for months.
The claim the problems have been fixed. WRONG! Currently in Darwin. Phone shows full bars for reception but pages take minutes to load. If at all. When I get back to Melbourne I'm going to make sone videos to prove that the problems have not been fixed. This is the only way to prove to them and the ombudsman that the network is broken. I suggest if you are Aa pissed off as I am you do the same and upload videos to YouTube. Then can all link into them via twitter and face book.

776 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No Customer Service - EVER at 18 Dec 2010 09:49:13 AM
After 6 years with Vodafone it was time to seek another Telco as I could never get any network coverage nor customer service with Vodafone. I have a baby and for safety reasons needed to know my phone would work, it would often take me 5 tries to get a line out and then drop out after a few minutes. I tried to complain but it takes 40mins on hold to speak with anyone in Mumbai. Last week I went to a Vodafone shop, their network was down so they could not help with questions, I called the service hotline was on hold for 45mins to be told that their network was down and to call back in 3hours. I have been told a Supervisor would ring back, they never do. If you call Vodafone 123 that is a minimum cost of $4.77 - disgusting. And if I ever have to listen to Lara again I will go mad. Well I won't have to listen to Lara again as I have moved to Optus!
771 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 18 Dec 2010 09:27:22 AM
Vodafone knows exactly what the problem is. It requires some money to fix. Not an option for them. Just keep signing up new people and don't worry about the drop outs. People will ring and try again. By the time people find, out we'll make lots of money and tell them that we are looking into the problem. The ACCC should really start to punish companies like Vodafone.
770 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Frustration PLus at 18 Dec 2010 09:26:01 AM

Update my phone firmware and 2. Update my sim card. Both steps have not achieved any measure of success. Phone still drops out at during calls, hunable to send SMS or receive messages
766 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Third World Service at 18 Dec 2010 08:57:38 AM
Thank goodness. I thought I give Voda a fair go when I switch my wireless broadband over to Voda instead of the BIG 2. My mobile and wireless broadband is definitely up to scratch and akin to 3rd World service.
I share the same frustration of being put on hold and passed around different consultant. Maybe it's a way of stopping you complaining. The 'overseas' support are friendly enough but that's about it. I speak to them more in the last 6 months as I care to. LARA is a joke.
Now I have learned my lesson and may have to conceit to the BIG 2 when my contract expires.
Does VODA management care? I have my doubts.

744 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is vf better then telstra at 18 Dec 2010 07:58:29 AM
Took months for telstra to get my home phone going and then several more months to get the billing right. If I had a dollar for.every minute spent on the phone with a Telstra 'customer service rep' I'd have built my own network. Vodafone took 10 minutes and I was making unlimited calls to anyone in Australia. Telstra and Optus rip off their customers and are a disgrace.
742 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Maximum fail at 18 Dec 2010 07:51:46 AM
Vodafone IS the biggest network in the world, BUT with the LEAST number of base stations/cell sites, certainly in Melbourne, Victoria.
I foolishly bought a USB data dongle, believing the coverage map was correct, and the data speed was 1.5 mb's...IF it would connect...my Telstra mobile was 5.6 mb/s.
Vodafone's so called "support" is a national disgrace. Some poor shlepper in Egypt, who thought Australia was Austria!
How they continue to get away with this probably shows how good their advertising is......pity the network operation isn't as good as the advertising.
In the end my local Safeway / Woolworths took back the dongle, as apparently they had done with several other complaining customers.
I live in a major inner suburb within 1 kilometer of a VF base station, not the back end of regional Australia.
Remember folks, the TIO is our best friend, as is the Australian Comp and Consumer Authority.
Funnily, Australia is one of the few places in the world where Vodafone is not the number 1 or No 2 network, and it's Australian alliance with Hutchison 3 into VHA has made the situation worse for consumers, as much of the 3 "traffic" has been transferred to the under-resourced VF network.
It's a crying shame as VF was always a good quality network, even though small, until recent years.

I rang Vodafone to get up a new business account at the beginning of November. It is now 18th December and they have twice delivered an incorrect handset. I am still waiting for the correct handset and have no phone as I have to keep the incorrect ones in their packaging for return. Everytime I ring to find out what is happening I am on hold for at least an hour and then spend an another hour being bounced bewtween departments and customer service people while they try and work out what is happening. I still have no phone to use but am alreadxy nearly 2 months into my contract.
737 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is P!ss Poor at 18 Dec 2010 07:13:42 AM
Signed up with Vodafone 9 months ago. Their website did (and still does) show full 3G coverage in our area, even double checked this with sales staff. Never had more than half signal strength and only access data via my own wireless connection at home.
Complained last week and was told coverage issues were a temporary issue (what for nine months!!??). Escalated through to their network faults department who did confirm that my suburb does suffer from poor network coverage (thought I already told them that!!). Upshot is that they're waiving the CAP fees for the next two months to see if the coverage improves. If not they've agreed to cancel the contract without any fees. I asked about compensation for the previous nine months an not receiving the level of service I'd signed up for, "Sorry there's nothing we can do about that".
Oh, and why is the 'we'll phone you back' option when calling the customer service department, only available randomly?
Finally, this is a classic, I waited on-hold for around 40 minutes (call-back facility must have been on lunch) only to be told that I'd have to call back in at least 4 hours because all their systems were down - priceless!!!
VODAFONE - Wake up or leave it to someone who knows how to treat people.

Within a few weeks of signing up with them I had experienced all the things others have commented on, no signal, calls dropping out, my mobile broadband dropping out constantly, late voice messages/texts etc. I decided pretty quickly that as soon as I was out of contract that I would never go with Vodafone again.

How ever they currently have many network upgrades on the way which have been awarded to other companies other than the PIPE deal, so over the next few years it should get better, I get unlimited calls, so being the tight ass I am, I have to stay as I just got a HTC Deisre HD, a bit hard to exit, otherwise I would go with TPG, my mate has TPG and says it is the best.

Many hours wasted with staff confirmed that although they failed to meet their stated conditions of the contract I would have to pay $112 to exit the contract! And I would not have any service for another 2 weeks. Wow! You'd have to take classes to get that arrogant.
599 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor poor poor at 17 Dec 2010 08:17:19 PM
Vodafone's service has been crap for at least the last 6 months. I can't even drive from South Melbourne to South Yarra without the data network completely stopping. The only way to get it to work is to change from 3G to 2G and then back again.
Calls drop out when not even moving from one spot.
The 3G data network is slow compared to Telstra/Optus connections when testing from the same location on my Vodafone service.
When my contract runs out I will be switching to Optus or Telstra as Vodafone has even worse service in regional Victoria with 0% 3G services.
Pick up your game Vodafone as you can do better than this. Maybe add a shite load more capacity to your network so it is actually usable!

My Land line internet dropped out yesterday so I had to rely on my phone to give me access to the internet for work. Low and behold it would drop out every 30 seconds and when it was connected it would only download slower than dial up. I know it downloads faster than that since when I first purchase the phone\contract it was pulling down 2Mbps and would only drop out on occasion. Unfortunately I have noticed the network performance of VF degrading a lot over the last month. I called help desk but after 30 minutes on hold I gave up. Seriously if you are going to offer plans with generous data caps for a cheap price you better make sure your hardware has capacity to handle it! Thankfully my ISP (Internode) were fantastic and speedy in fixing my connection, maybe Voda should take a page out of their book.
