Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6495 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 10 out of 10 at 28 Dec 2010 12:17:25 PM
I can never use the internet on their service. It claims to have full 3G reception but never works. My calls are always dropping out and sometimes it says I have no service when in an area i normally get 3g.

Overall, Vodafone is the most unreliable service i've ever used. When my waste of money "bargain" contract is up, i'm switching to a more reliable service.

6491 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is superfail at 28 Dec 2010 12:15:10 PM
Since the merger of 3 and voda i think we have all suffered!
I used to love voda, no dropouts, good coverage.
now, they just didnt understand the pressure it would put on the network combining these 2 companies and boom!
drop outs in different locations, ring them up and because it is in more than 1 location its my phone or sim!
so i get a new phone. and a new sim.
and there goes the dropouts again.
so i ring with SPECIFIC locations and they STILL refuse to believe there's a problem...
then I see on the news there is a problem!
Wish they had told me that before telling me to upgrade my phone and sim!
TIO here i come!!
28 Dec 2010 12:33:43 PM: I was just told to go to a different location and see if the coverage improves and if it doesn't then I have to go and get a new SIM card. My husbands does the same thing so his SIM must be kaput too? I think not, I think Vodafone is grasping at straws.

6488 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Internet Modem is Bollocks at 28 Dec 2010 12:12:02 PM
I purchased an internet modem which continually failed to reached anything beyond dial up speed. After having enough, I rang Vodafone and discovered the modem I had was diagnosed with a "known problem".

I was shunted around five different people in their call centre (the first operator I spoke to I couldnt understand due to a very thick Indian accent and from there I was department bounced) before being told I had three options available to me to fix the issue-
a) Pay $400 for a new modem and see out my contract
b) Renew the contract on the already faulty plan for an additional 2 years without guarantees I could exit if the service didnt improve and receive a new modem
c) Pay $600 to exit the contract early.

As far as I am concerned, if you supply equipment to facilitate their use of a service, it should work and should be replaced if recognised as a "known fault" of that equipment impedes the persons ability to access the service.

I chose to stay in contract and simply get a new provider of internet. Since then, Vodafone keep sending me letters every month trying to get me to be a customer again. If they had looked after me properly in the first instance, they wouldn't have had to!

I work in the CBD, which really shouldn't be an area of Sydney with reception issues! I'm re-sending SMSes about six times, sometimes can't call out for stretches of up to an hour, will have no data service all day ... I don't have any other phone service, and really need this.

Complained until I'm out of breath, contacted TIO, etc. I want out :(

6473 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is infuriatingly fail at 28 Dec 2010 11:56:29 AM
1) receive SMS's and MMS's 2-3 days late at odd hours in the morning
2) phone shows full reception, however cannot make any phone calls and noone can call me.
3) voicemails arrive 1-2 days late

I complained to Voda and they said it was my handset problem. I know this is wrong as i have changed handsets 3 times and still experience problems. They reset the factory settings and asked me to test sending an MMS to myself - it worked at the time, but then later on didn't.

I have until March 2011 until my 2 year contract ends and asked for a cancellation and they said they need to raise an investigation to see if they will be able to waiver the termination fee. They stated which location i lost coverage in, i said everywhere but they needed an address, so they took down my home location and work location (2 investigations on the network coverage of these locations). I think this is stupid because it is a MOBILE and i am MOBILE when i lose coverage. They should just investigate everywhere in Australia!!!

I am now awaiting them to call me after 3 days of investigations and the outcome would only be waiver the termination fee or not. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. I NEED COMPENSATION FOR LOST SERVICE. I have made an official complaint with TIO and signed up for Piper Alderman's class action against them.

What i want is compensation for the last year's of lost service and a cancellation without fees.

6472 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Incorrect modem specs given at 28 Dec 2010 11:56:04 AM
Yesterday I bought a Vodafone Mobile Broadband Starter Kit for $49 assuming the specs given are correct, specifically that Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8 and later is supported on PowerPC G3 and G4, check this link out
http://shop.vodafone.com.au/broadband-details/Vodafone-USB-Modem-White#whybuythis
But when I unpacked the modem at home, the installation instructions say that Mac OS X 10.4.11 and earlier is not supported on PowerPC.
When I surf the web I prefer to run Mac OS X 10.4.11 on PowerPC as that is one of the least vulnerable OS'es to rootkits etc, but now I find myself surfing using an old PC running Windows XP. Do wrong modem specs posted by Vodafone on their website qualify as misleading advertising ? I wouldn't be surprised if.

6467 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is killing them slowly at 28 Dec 2010 11:52:12 AM
I'm in Tuross Head at the moment visiting family. My husband and I are with Vodafone and have no network coverage AT ALL, my sister-in-law and my brother are with 3 and they have full 3G coverage. WTF is going on? I thought 3 & Vodafone were one and the same, perhaps I'm mistaken......Currently I'm on hold to Vodafone, fourth time today, first sunny day since getting here and i've been trying to resolve this issue since 10.30am it's now 1.50pm. Meanwhile my family is yelling at me because they're waiting for me to go fishing with them. This is only one of my issues,
i havent written about the call drop outs, dodgy internet etc. What a joke, although I'm certainly not laughing.
28 Dec 2010 12:22:59 PM: I just got off the phone from the Technical Disservice department of Vodafail who told me that I need to take my phone to a different location to see if my network coverage improves, if it does improve then I have to call vodafone back to tell them and then they will escalate my issue to the Network Specialists (???) and they will try to find out why I cannot get service at my current location. If the newtork coverage does NOT improve then I have to go and get new SIM cards for my husband and I as they might be faulty! SERIOUSLY....way to go to make it sound like it's not vodafones fault!
28 Dec 2010 12:31:16 PM: By the way they also told me that 3 and vodafone are separate and use different network towers? Is this correct?
28 Dec 2010 04:26:10 PM: I was asked FOUR times to change my SIM by the indian call centres, amongst other resets. I did it 3 times to humour them, the 4th I went to the TIO and complained about the 86 phone calls (no joke) I'd made in the previous 3 months and the disgraceful customer service. Fortunately their computer systems log each call and email. Even the insane ones where the Indian Call Centre says to email Vodafone, and when I did the email reply said "you spoke to 1555 about this problem already, so case: CLOSED" were logged by Vodafone, shooting themselves in the foot.

I'd had no signal at ALL unless I stood on my letterbox out on the street and waved my phone in the air and maybe (just maybe) I might get it for 30 seconds. The TIO made Vodafone call me about the issues. I was polite to the VF guy (it helps) and he let me out of my contract and gave me a huge $8 credit! Huge! He told me it was pretty obvious after the first SIM swap that wasn't the problem.

I'm now so happy with Telstra it's not funny. I almost feel like washing my mouth out with soap saying that, but it's true :)

Signed up to a iphone 4G plan with a 200MB data limit each month. Every month i have only been provided with a 50MB limit and charging me for additional data usage.

Have contact the customer support centre which is now outsourced from Australia to Vodafone's international centre which have over 1 hour call waits, lengthy average handling times and false promises to fix the issues with my plan!

Extremely frustrated!

Class action and beyond I say!

6443 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst. Network. Ever!!! at 28 Dec 2010 11:31:56 AM
After being a loyal vodafone customer for many years, i have finally "had enough" with the constant call drop outs, lack of reception, deylayed sms and mms (if i got them at all that is) and in general very very poor customer service (call centre)
So i have gone to another major network now, and am much happier with them, although when i had my number ported from vodafone to the new network, 4days later i recieved a letter from a debt collector with a 72hr demand for $400, thanks vodafone...

Thats just the begining, i also had mobile broardband with vodafone, again had very very limited reception, the connection would constantly drop out, very slow to load pages etc so once my 2year contract was up (i still used it month to month) i decided to cancel my account as i couldnt use the service as desired and wasnt happy paying for something i cant use, so on the phone i got to cancel, after speaking to "lara" and sitting on hold for 45mins i get told that the department i would need to speak to has just closed, so the lady on the phone took my details and claimed she would arrange a call back the next day, well late afternoon the next day and still no call back i get back on the phone, 58mins on hold (i timed it) i speak to someone, telling them im not happy with the service an my contract was up and to cancel the account, i was then placed on hold for a few seconds and was then disconnected!!! I couldnt believe it, i got straight back on the phone and after another 45min wait i spoke to someone, who tried and tried and tried to talk me out of ending my service, eventually they did cancel the service and made the sim card from my broardband stick a prepaid mobile phone sim card and put $20 credit on it as a "good will gusture"

Anothe quick rant about the call centre wich the tellco uses, i personally found it very very hard to understand most of the operators due to very thick accents.

Im so glad im no longer a customer of vodafone and would never go back or recomend it to anyone!

6437 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is AN ABSOLUTE JOKE FOR A MAJOR TELCO!! at 28 Dec 2010 11:23:43 AM
Left Vodafone in 04' due to incorrect billings, hopeless customer service and no support for queries. Returned in October 2010 due to the amount of family/relatives/friends and general contacts who are with them, also due to having my father becoming ill in hospital so i joined a $49 cap with a Sony Ericsson X10i. Had no support from Vodafone in regards to the 3G network always operating in the background of my phone (had not downloaded any apps to operate in the background) but incurred a bill in excess of $400 due to data use. To add insult to injury i have sent my handset in twice for faults such as turning off by itself, not charging off a car charger (tested in various vehicles), the 3G Network operating constantly when not needed and the usual freezing. I received the handset yesterday only to be told the same thing had been carried out to rectify the issues "we've updated to android 2.1"....and surprise surprise, the same faults are now still present in the handset!

We are both using pocketwifi on our laptops and hardly ever get coverage in spite of paying a monthly bill. We're thinking of getting a landline. Would that make coverage better? Hard to know since you have to spend half the day on the phone trying to get through to Vodafone. Give us back what we've paid since you can't provide the service. And how about the inconvenience? It's a busy world. we need the net. That's why we're paying!

6410 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally Dodgy at 28 Dec 2010 11:06:06 AM
I have some issues with the service from Vodafone as well, but not only with the coverage and calls dropping out but with the level of reagrd and treatment from customer service itself.

Vodafone called me to se if I wanted to renew my contract as mine was coming to an end. The middle eastern sounding lady told me about the new infinite cap which was fine, and then she asked me about my phone and how that was going I said it had a few issues so she offered me a new one I said that I wanted to get the iphone 4 but was advised that they were out of stock and there was a wait of up to 4 weeks so she said that I should get this other phone called the Nokia N8 I quizzed her about the specifics of the phone and told her that if it wasn't exactly like the iphone 4 in looks and capalbility then I wsn't interested in that phone at all. She told me it looks exactly like the iphone and does all the same things but the only difference was the camera it being a 12megapixel as the iphone4 has only a 5megapixel. Had I of known that this camera is nothing like the iphone 4 I wouldn't have even considered getting this phone especailly wehn I got it, the phone was faulty as broken calculator. At first when I got it I was super hessitant since it wasn't what I was expecting at all but decided to give it a go anyway. Once I charged the battery I stuck my sim card in and began my using it, my relationship with my new phone lasted for not even 2 days. Turns out the phone was faulty, the battery didn't even last a day, and it would take a really long time to respond to any commands that I would give it or just not respond at all or if I managed to get to the applications screen and try to open one the wole phone would just go black. So began my calling to vodafone, or should I say VODAFAIL.. I called them every day for nearly 2 weeks sometimes several times a day and each time I'd be left on hold for over an hour waiting and then when I FINALLY GOT THROUGH and explained my situation about how the phone was faulty and misled into getting it the first place, they would only say that I have come through to the wrong department and that would have to transfer me to the correct one, this happened at least 6 times everytime I would call customer service! I have been a customer loyal to vodafone for nearly 8 years and I think I think I deserve better than this! They sent me the phone by courier from an Allphones store and said that if the phone came form them then I would have to take it up with them. So I did they told me it Vodafone's probelm, Vodafone sent me back and forth like a tennis ball wi this faulty phone cos niether of them wanted to take responsibilty of a faulty phone. In the end I finally got through after another 1 and half or so of having to listen to the annoying Lara, to an Australian guy who explained that despite the circumstances of being misled in getting the Nokia N8 I had signed a verbal contract with that phone and that the only thing that they could do was send me out another one. I explained that I wasn't interested in getting another one of this handset and asked that my upgrade to the 49 infinite plan be reversed and I send back the faulty handset to vodafone, and start over. After being told that this was possible by someone else (another middle eastern person) the Australian guy said that the only thin that he could do for me was send me out a replacement of the same handset of the Nokia N8, and if the second handset turned out to be faulty as well only then would they look at reversing my upgrade and sending me out a different phone all together, being the iphone 4 which is what I wanted to start with. The lady that initially did the upgrade was only trying to give me the hard sell on that phone as they would commissions on every phone sold. So now I have to wait for this other Nokia N8 and find out if it faulty and go through the entire process AGAIN! I'm not racist, but it makes me so mad that for a company thats based in Australia, they would have a call centres in places like the middle east, you call them expecting to talk to someone who can understand what they are saying and you can understnad what they are saying but half the time you can't, its total bullox! If people can't speack english properly and clearly then they should be employed in call centres PERIOD. VODAFONE YOU TOTALLY BITE! Your name definately be should be VODAFAIL, you have definately failed me.

6375 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Regularly useless at 28 Dec 2010 10:36:44 AM
Using vodafone mobile broadband in newcastle is like taking tickets in a lottery. For 3-4 nights per week you get speeds slower than dial-up (if you can get a connection at all). On some nights you can get a super speed of 256k!! Impossible to get through to customer assistance. If, however, you are prepared to limit your inernet use to betwen 4 and 6am on weekdays, you can sometimes get up to 1Mbps. Absolutely useless and NOT recommended.

6366 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible 'customer service' and poor network coverage at 28 Dec 2010 10:28:53 AM
So after a few weeks trying to obtain an iphone upgrade through Vodafone, I was finally told that I could go direct to the apple store in Sydney who could do it for me as Vodafone didn't have any stock. It was all done and dusted in about 30mins. Loved the new phone, but as of Sunday my 3G service has decided not to work, I have difficulties making phone calls, my voicemail come in a few hours late and yet i seem to have full signal and the 3G sign is visible. Yesterday I spent a total of about 3 hrs on hold trying to speak to someone who doesn't speak English very well. Not to mention I am on my holiday! So I speak to someone who tells me to reset my settings and that should fix the problem. Did this about 6 times and it's not fixed anything. So I call back and when I finally get to speak to someone they tell me I should turn off my 3G and just use the 2g network which is super slow. He then transfers me to someone in 'network support' so they can look into the issue. I hung up after being on hold for 53mins so never spoke to anyone. I gave up. I have been with Vodafone for about 10 years and it is absolutely shocking, customer service is simply a joke.

The owner of this site owns a company which resells Optus services... Why does he delete posts making people aware of this, rather than disclosing the truth on himself? What is he trying to hide???
28 Dec 2010 10:35:45 AM: i don't really care what he does or who he is - VODAFONEY have an issue here they need to fix - its that simple, there is no need to drag up dirt on the owner of the site. As someone said many years ago - "He who is without sin cast the first stone".
28 Dec 2010 10:41:32 AM: I disagree, if the site owner runs a Vodafone competitor he should make that very clear on the front page
28 Dec 2010 01:06:15 PM: The people I know who use Optus reckon Optus sucks too..
29 Dec 2010 06:53:52 AM: What a crack up if you notice most of the replies are from the same person and most of the posts spelling and grammar lol good one

6351 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst Phone Company at 28 Dec 2010 10:13:28 AM
I've been with Vodafone for years and it only gets worse as times goes on. I live in the Southern Highlands in NSW and many numerous times that I've lost count Vodafone has gone dead in the area. No service at all anywhere you go. Sometimes it lasts a few hours to a day or so. A few times all we have waited a few days with no service at all.

What is the point in having a mobile phone if you're not going to get service in your Home area and it drops out for days? I'm trying to run a small business and I lose business because of Vodafone. It also doesn't help if their is an Emergency and I need help and I can't call anybody. The service is terrible all in all even when it does work. I'll be talking to my girlfriend who is also with Vodafone and her service will completely drop out.

My girlfriend is also having Data Issues. We're both on Prepaid on the 49 cap where we apparently get 3 gig. Well her usage is never used it costs her money to go on and her usage stays at 3 gig.

All in all the only reason we both have stayed with Vodafone over the years is to be able to call each other free. Soon we will both be changing to Optus when she can afford to go on a plan.

6348 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA fail at 28 Dec 2010 10:11:49 AM
My partner and I have been Vodafone customers for 6-7 years now, after starting out on prepaid we were spending to much money so we decided to go on a cap. Vodafone had always worked so well for us and the caps were always so much more affordable and since we both travelled so much for work this was always our best option and we were always happy. But since renewing our plan and increasing our cap from $49 to the $79 cap in Dec 2009 we have been nothing but dissappointed. Firstly, I entered into a new plan a week before going overseas for a holiday. On my return 2 weeks later I had a bill for over $2000, I knew I had not used my phone that much whilst overseas, especially not enough to accrue a bill of that amount, after finally reaching them, they explained that I had 'apparently' cancelled a contract on 07 Dec, funny that, when it was impossible as I had only just signed 2 new contracts and on the date I was meant to have cancelled a contract in Australia, I was in Rome!!!! They eventually (after several phone calls to vodafone and the retailer where this apparently happened) they removed the fee. This however was just the beginning of a very disappointing run with Vodafone. Our caps vary so much, we are constantly shocked at the cost of our bills, knowing we do not vary our calls that much from month to month yet they are always over cap and sometimes by over $200. When I was with Telstra, if they could see your cap going over alot or not workng out, they used to contact you and talk through some ideas to better suit your calling patterns (this has never happened with Vodafone, they just want our money, there is no customer sevice) We have recently moved to a large inland NSW town, where you would expect to get full coverage, we get nothing and still have 12 months left on our plan. For our jobs, we both get moved regularly, we have been from Brisbane, to Sydney to Newcastle and until the past few months, have had no problems with reception. Now, even back in Sydney for christmas (a capital city), we get nothing, in a CAPITAL city, how can you get no coverage?? I was sent picture messages on Christmas day of my family as I was unable to be with them, some I received 3 and 4 days later, most I still have not received 5 days later. We can have full netowrk coverage and 3G activated, attempt to log onto the internet and wait for up to 10mins before it even looks like connecting, you would think if you have reception you could utilise the service. This is unacceptable, we pay for a service that we can not even use...... RUBBISH!! I have not been reveiving bills either via the mail or e-mail, I am just receiving text saying my bill is overdue, this is not acceptable. I have attempted to call several times to discuss my issues however after it cutting out and then being on hold for 30mins plus, and then for them to say they will redirect me and be taken back to the voice activated main menu AGAIN and AGAIN and get no where I have given up. I WANT OUT!!

I was with Vodafone for 4 yrs on Mobile, talk about drop outs and connection issues. I rang and asked them what they were doing and why it was happening and I was told that network upgrades were occuring all the time across australia!?!?!? I eventually got sick of it nd switched to Telstra, MUCH MUCH better and the bills are ok too.

The upgrades I was referring to were supposed to be happening in 2008!?!?!? Guess they havent got around to it huh? As they say trying to win back an unhappy customer is a very hard thing to do. I will seek to recover money for failed network capabilitites as I did NOT get was was advertised... SEE YA VODAFONE. You SUCK

We have all been scammed. My now "ex" girlfriend suggested I change to Vodafone as it was cheaper - I think she set me up. Vodafone's network is not fit for purpose. Their customer service and service level management is non-existent. Yes, Telstra and Optus have had their issues, but never this bad. It is an insult they are heavily marketing and discounting service to attract more customers, yet clearly they cannot support the current user base. And it is impossible to get any response from their customer service

I keep getting user is out of service or just won't connect. Then when others try call me it says im out of service too. Weird thing is i nearly always have a single bar of reception regardless where i go.

The net seems to be slow....but im quite sure this is just due to the limitations of 3G. Other mates who are on the shared "3 network" are getting close to full reception ALL THE TIME!!! Shame its a 24month contract and only 3 months into it as TPG mobile plan is sounding REALLY good right about now.

Having been with Vodafone 10years, i have recently had enough, of the exstortionate pricing, the exasperating voice recognition so called customer service, the incompetence, when it comes to resolving an issue and the general, screw the customer for more, $2.5billion dollar profit. Vodafone, service falls way short of price one pays to be on the Vodafone Network. I thought it was just me that was facing these issues, however the everyfailing network coverage and the general consensus, of other Vodafone customers share my frustration. I am currently facing a $2,000 terminated contact.

Wow, most the other Telco's have had problems in the past, short memories we have. Telstra's customer service has sucked for years and continues unabated.
Have been with Vodafone for about 15 years and I must say they have been excellent overall, have not had any issue's but then again I only use it for personal calls not business or any of the bandwidth hungry apps that have overwhelmed the system, they'll fix it. Could they have handled it better??, sure, chill out, you'll live longer. No pain here.
28 Dec 2010 09:39:14 AM: Don't get me started on Telstra....They are the biggest joke of a telecommunications company out. That said my experience with them has only been land line and broadband.

There response was that the bill was correct. Stupid me i paid the bill not wanting to get a bad credit rating from one little incident. I want what i pay for and that is SIMPLY: to make a call without having to call back after 2 mins because the line dropped out or even better to be able to make the inital call and it connects straight away and not tell me that the call has FAILED. I switched to vodaphone 3 weeks ago, and have nothing but trouble, bad reception, call drop-outs, and was not able to make any calls to friends and relatives over the xmas period, i did receive an apology from vodaphone(as many customers also did,) with the explanation as they were doing an upgrade, and also with the apology was a credit of 20 dollars added on to my account, but whats the use, can't use it,

6244 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 28 Dec 2010 09:22:29 AM
For the past 8 weeks:

- I haven't been able to make A SINGLE phone call
- I receive calls but people can't hear me
- It takes 2 to 3 minutes to load sites such as google.com.au
- I've noticed huge delays in SMS/MMS reception. I usually receive SMS/MMS 12 to 24hrs after they were sent (Ironically, the only SMS I got on time was Vodafail, asking me to pay my bill)
- I've been receiving voicemails 2 to 3 days late

This has caused countless problems both on a personal and professional level. What's alarming here is that I live in Darlinghurst and work in Surry Hills were most of Vodafail's customers are located.

I went down to my local Vodafail store and politely asked for some information. Staff were rude and I was asked to call a number (I CAN'T CALL REMEMBER?).

I tried to take my frustration to Facebook. It appears that Vodafone have disabled their wall. This means that people can't comment anymore. They just use the page to broadcast messages about their latest marketing campaigns.

Hey Vodafone, how about you fix your network and address the real issues instead of throwing bags of money at stupid Facebook promotions?

Vodafone, you can kiss my $100 a month goodbye.

Vodafone has been terrible lately, i never thought my reception at home could get any worse at least I used to get drop outs, now I get nothing at all). I do find it amusing however that 3 customers complain that it is voda's side causing the problem, however.. They do know that all the management guys basically came from 3, right? Voda never was this bad before. A lack of willingness to spend money is the major symptom of this disease, nothing more. Oh well.. At least I can still use my home wifi network!

6238 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is RIDICULOUS at 28 Dec 2010 09:19:52 AM
Service was completely cut off without warning yesterday morning, right as I was trying to contact my boyfriend who was at the airport, leaving australia for 3 months.
I've got a brand new blackberry and just joined vodafone a few weeks ago. My call to customer service breaks down as follows:
- transferring 13 times (back and forth between "technical": 6 times)
- asked to use the feature where they call you back, was told would take 30 mins. 2 hours later, nothing.
- finally, i called back. i was on hold for a mammoth 3 hours. 3 HOURS.
- i was repeatedly told that it was my phone that was causing the problem, and told to remove the battery, over and over again.
- finally, i was told i would have to go into a vodafone store before they will restore any service to my phone.

Also: i had to endure John Mayer's Your Body is a Wonderland 4 times. And Maroon Five's Sunday Morning at least 6 times.

Thanks Vodafone!

I have a 8GB Pocket wi-fi- what crap reception we have constant drop outs and slow speeds. I have complained numerous times because I am meant to have a bonus 2GB giving me 10gb, they can't get it right. They then charge me for excess over 8Gb when I have 10GB. You ring them and wait over 30 - 40 mins each time to get them they say they will reverse the overcharge and still don't get it right on the bill. I had to the email them with the same complaint. After trying to ring and disgusted with the wait time of over 40 mins. NOT GOOD ENOUGH VODAFONE.

6231 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a complete fail at 28 Dec 2010 09:16:13 AM
I am so angry with the call centre and the service level of my data service, that I will be joining the class action and telling everyone who I know never to use their service. They are a totally useless at doing anything but billing you.To everyone: save yourself hours of WAITING don't use them. Something will always go wrong and you won't be able to get on to someone who can fix it.

I am a 3 customer. Recently vodafail and 3 merged. For a number of months since the merge I have found that my class drop out within the first 5 minutes of making a call. This NEVER happened before the merge. I could talk for 45 minutes without interruption. I am now of the belief that whatever dirty tricks are being done to Vodafail customers are now applying to 3 customers. I am also of the belief that call drop outs could be company policy. This would ensure they can stiff you for 3 flagfalls for what is essentially the same call.

I think 3 customers should be added to this!

To dear vodaphone if you were talking to someone on the phone and your phone constantly drops out after 1 minute on a number of occasions what would you do? Your friends had something very important to tell you but you got there message a few days later and even there voice mail ? Don't receive text messages when the person next to you sends you one ? Your phone has full service but goes strait to voice mail ? Yes the settings are all correct. Ring the customer service line and wait for a rediculas amount of time and not being racist have not much knowledge that people do work and can't go to the apple store to get phone checked I don't see what for but anyway problem not solved as you can cleary see it's a network problem not the phone, anyway vodaphone how would you deal with all this ? How would you feel? What would you do ? Do you feel as though your not a satisfied paying customer that signed a contract your following but the other party is not providing to the satisfaction of the customer ? Isn't the customer always right ? Just wondering vodaphone how would you feel regards to all this? This is just my inquiry and I can see and read the rest of complaints I beleave somewhere in your customer service policy you have a duty of care please voda could you answer me on how you have done this ? 6219 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is WTF? at 28 Dec 2010 09:07:31 AM
Like many others, I have serious reception issues, to the point where I can be sitting on my lounge, have my mobile sitting on my left, and I have reception, but if I put my phone down on my right, I have no reception. Its a distance of less than 2 feet!! I have had txt messages try and send for nearly a day, before I give up and delete them. Some days phone calls will come in, other days people trying to ring me cant get thru, all of this in my home. It all depends where my phone is in my house. Sometimes it can be as little as: is my phone on sitting on the seat of the lounge or is it sitting on the back of the lounge which decides if Im going to have reception. At work the distance between having reception or not can involve walking 3 steps and waving my phone around until it picks up a signal :( I'm in Albury. Vodafone, you suck!

6215 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad Reception at 28 Dec 2010 09:05:58 AM
After being with Virgin for a while, I did some research to find a pre-paid plan to suit my needs and budget. I chose the Vodafone Talk&Txt plan so I unlocked my handset and activated my new Vodafone Sim card. The customer support was hopeless and I had to wait ages to get redirected and then I was told to call back tomorrow. When I finally got it all working I noticed that the reception was really bad, even in my own house where I always had full coverage with Virgin and Optus. I found that I usually don't have any reception when I'm in a building, such as a shopping centre where I need it to call my mum so that she knows where to meet me. I just hope that I don't get in an emergency one day and have to rely on my phone to get help. I also hate it how I can't send or receive picture messages, except if I use PXT which is pointless.

I signed up on a contract back in feb knowing that I was moving in the next few weeks to another area, I asked if there was service in the new area I was moving to, and was told yes, so I agreed to sign. From the moment I moved to new address, I have had no service or very little, missing important calls both work and family related. In the early stages of this problem, I contact vodafone and was told the issues would be sorted within the next month or so, that was 10 months ago. Still with an un-acceptable level of service I contacted vodafone again in December, 1st call appeox 1hr 12 mins problem un-resolved, 2nd call 1hr 40mins problem still unresolved and cut off during being tranferred, 3rd call 1hr 20 mins problem still un-resolved. I went to vodafone shop where they connected me through to cancellations promptly, cancellations offered me a $20 deduction of my last bill and a free exit when I return the handset. They havent taken into account the calls to there 1300 number as I couldn't use there mobile to access free call. When I asked where they were, as I wanted someone local ( thinking Sydney ) to deal with this issue i was told Mumbai (India), I asked to be transferred to someone local and was told they could not. As a vodafone customer for over 5 years i am thoroughly appalled by Vodafones customer service and network coverage ( both are non exsistent ). Vodafail is a very suiting name for the company and I will with out reserve point potential customers into reading this sites complaints before they sign with on the dotted line, Vodafone you have lost this loyal customer for ever, no matter how good your service may become in the future. It is your present service that has destroyed your reputation for years to come. Regards Simon

6213 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Don't Deliver at 28 Dec 2010 09:04:41 AM
If I leave my recharge a few months, I can't recharge unless I re-register all my details again, vodafone say every time (5 times) "it will be right now" but it never is, next time I recharge. This is my 2nd complaint.

6211 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremley FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 09:04:03 AM
i have been unable to call and text anyone for the last 3 days , i admit there are times when it will let me make a call though but it either drops out half way through or wont even connect , i have been in to a vodaphone shop and all they did was swap my sim and tell me to get a cover for my Iphone and well this has done nothing to fix the problem , as for calling them maybe i could if my phone would work.
so in short the last 3 days i think i have made 3 calls received no calls from friends or family .

6210 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The Worst Network I Have Seen at 28 Dec 2010 09:03:51 AM
have never seen such a poor network as Vodafon- their voice & data services simply do not work. I signing a Vodafone contract six months ago. I have not been able to cancel my Optus or Telstra home phone plan, as the Vodafone network is not reliable enough to rely on. It is humiliating when calls to clients/friends drop out, or I dont get their calls/messages as your network is failing. I use my Optus phone for business and my Vodafone service for personal and other non-essential services. Using Vodafone, I have had many reliability and performance issues. These include over 100 voice drop outs, poor quality voice calls, unable to connect, poor data performance, data drop outs, unable to fine network etc, As it stands, I need to carry two phone (the reliable Optus one and the dodgy Vodafone one). I believe that Vodafone is in breach of contract as they are not providing the service I signed up for. At no time over the last six month have they provided a network that is fit for purpose or that meets the reliability I would expect of a major carrier. Their system for managing customer service is a joke. Their poorly trained service desk tells me it is a user issue - I am an IT architect of 25 year experience, ex military telecomms engineer and a IT Masters. They have no system for problem, incident, change controls or service level management. How can Govt allow them to market/sell a service that does not work?

6209 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No communication at 28 Dec 2010 09:03:12 AM
I had to call my mum on Xmas Eve to tell her that my train was delayed so was waiting for the next train so did not know time I was going to get home from work. I called twice and she heard part of my call but had it keep dropping out. She tried calling me, but I could only hear every second word. (She is with Vodaphone as well). I was already frustrated because my train was delayed but my anger hit the roof, when I could not even speak to my mum to let her know of my delay getting home. In frustration, I spoke to the train guard on the train platform and he was kind enough to let me use his mobile (do not know what he was with - definitely not Vodaphone) and I called home to warm my mum of my delay.
