Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

1687 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme/ worse then Telstra at 27 Dec 2010 08:24:30 AM
Vodafone don't care I'm stiched up in contract and get billed for calls not made and services not used but vodafone can't be contacted and the Bathurst office says little and helps even less, Bathurst office told me that the new phones would work at my home but it does not unless I get lucky afer climbing a tree, all very curious that in 2010 that 20 kms from Bathurst Vodafone can't give me a service that works although they said they could.
I cancelled one billed by month service after being wrongly billed had to pay changed to prepaid and still get the same poor coverage.
I'm fed up having to climb trees to make calls in the rain or drive 1.5 km to make a call that mostly drops, out visitors come and they phone out from my home on other services, the Bathurst Telstra shop told me that the vodafone I have all 3 of them are not suitable for the local coverage that they are city phones, I went to the Vodafone shop and they told me that the phones were fine for in Bathurst and agreed the phones were not suitable for out of town and that the previous vodafone staff made a mistake.
to move to another service I need to buy another phone.
We once had a CDMA service that worked here at my home.

On a prepaid USB mobile broadband, but even with 4/5 bars the device is unable to hold a connection for long in Central Coast NSW. Need to reestablish connection by disconnecting and reconnecting at best ever 10 minutes. Will be looking for something else.
Connection has failed once again as I type this....

Phone calls drop constantly. It is extremely embarrassing especially when talking to customers and business partners. Epic fail, Vodafone.
1683 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 80% fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:23:09 AM
I have been with Vodafone for 13 years but enough is enough. I have had my iPhone 3GS for 18 months and the service in the past 9-12 months or more has been shocking. It has got so bad that I have recently become determined to break the contract. But calling the helpline with that damn Lara robot is unworkable.
I wrote a formal complaint to the Vodafone website on 14 December and got an automated reply that someone would contact me within 5 business days. Guess what? Nothing! Nobody has contacted me. It is a disgrace.
The data network just NEVER works. Never! I'm so over it.

1680 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic!!! at 27 Dec 2010 08:20:12 AM
Im stuck in a contract for the next 20 months, yet constant dropouts, an lets not talk about accessing the web...takes ages, then nothing. So i dont bother. Im paying to have a really great phone that i cant use. Ive tried complaining, but have been kept on hold for over 2hrs (on more than one occasion), and during that call, guess what, i got disconnected. I just dont bother anymore. Id like my contract price dropped, or to get what ive been promised...EPIC FAIL Vodafone.
1679 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is To be renamed "Vodahoax" at 27 Dec 2010 08:19:42 AM
In order to run our business without the constant dropouts, we have all had to lock our phones to the GSM network. It improves battery life by double (since the phone is not searching for signal) and means we can actually move around whilst talking....making the phones "mobile" once again. We have been VF customers for 11 years and only since they took over "3" has the problem occured. Telstra here we come...
1678 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:19:38 AM
Stuck in Vodafone contract. Promised three months for free - never delivered. Kept on OLD version of plan with higher call costs. When I complained I was offered another free month and 50% off the next two months after that. NONE of this has been delivered. And now I have NO phone reception at all - in the middle of Sydney. I can't make calls, I can't send texts, I can't use the internet on my phone. I can't use my phone to run my freelance business. It's a useless bit of expensive metal. Thanks Vodafone. I want out.

1676 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Multiple problems, poor customer service at 27 Dec 2010 08:18:11 AM
Multiple issues.
First of all: I couldn't log in to my account on the internet for > 10 days. I called technical support after waiting for hours on hold. Then after talking to a customer service representative, he said he couldn't help me and to wait for a password to be sent again. Password was sent and still couldn't log in. Had to call again.
Secondly, I had an extreme amount of difficulty just getting another account setup and had to go to the store to get this done.
My voice message abnk notifications aren't going to SMS and I asked this and still have not had a reply.
I applied to get my phone unlocked, have inquired about it and paid and still no response.
I tried to setup another account and the tech support, after 26 hours of discussion with 5 different representatives told me to go to the store to solve the problem. Took the store person an hour to figure out the problem because they could think outside the box unlike the phone technical support staff.

1673 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 27 Dec 2010 08:15:12 AM
Sick of calls dropping out, having to dial a number half a dozen times or more before being connected, receiving voicemails days late. Funnily enough there is never any problem from vodafone in accessing my direct debit each month to charge me for their non service. Have been a customer for 15 years and have had enough!
1671 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Drop outs, no coverage at 27 Dec 2010 08:13:54 AM
I have a vodafone personal phone and a telstra work phone. The vodafone mobile constantly drops out on calls on my way to and from work, particularly around Sydenham and Wolli Creek in Sydney. Often the phone will say that the cellular data network could not be activated, even though the phone has full 3G reception. Luckily my plan is nearly up and I will not be renewing with them.
Outside of the capital cities, Vodafone's coverage is woeful at best. My telstra Next G phone works just about everywhere. The calls are much clearer, the data speeds much better and there are very few drop outs etc.

1670 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgustingly Fail! at 27 Dec 2010 08:13:20 AM
Perpetual call drop outs, and I use my phone for my BUSINESS!! I live in Glebe but have rarely been anywhere where the coverage gets higher than two bars. What's worse is the phone goes to 'roaming' which I get charged more per call for. So when I have to keep calling people back after dropping out I get charged MORE!
I also frequently miss calls that go straight to voicemail even though the phone is sitting next to me and says there is coverage. Then I have to call voicemail and get charged again!!
Absolutely abysmal and dishonest.

1669 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mobile Broadband at 27 Dec 2010 08:12:48 AM
I had a mobile broadband service with Vodafone.
My service has been disconnected because I refuse to pay my bill with vodafone.
I refused to pay my bill because of the poor, sluggish network and (non)service. The amount of occassions it just doesn't connect or when it does connect it downloads 1 kilobyte per second ... its unbelievably infuriating, especially when you are trying to run a small business.
Every month I've only been able to use a sixth of my maximum download amount, courtesy of Vodafone's poor network.
And everytime Vodafone assure me that the problem is localised and "will be fixed" and "won't be repeated" ... utter balderdash.
PS can Vodafone please also get an Australian based call centre too!!!

1668 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mother and child Lost in Shopping Centre at 27 Dec 2010 08:12:22 AM
My Son and my wife couldn't find each other for 1 hour in Westfield Burwood. My Wife was doing here business, while my son was trying to contact her continously but was unable to get a line out. He used another kind shoppers phone which was on telstra but the call went to my wifes voicemail. After sometime my son thought while in the shopping centre to go to a Vodafone store, they knew about the problem and set his phone to 2G. This did not fix the problem because my wifes phone was on 3G. My son went to the centre management and management paged my wife. I understand that this was not an emergency, but what if it was???? Vodafone is not providing duty of care to its customers. We now also know that this problem was ongoing for sometime said a Vodafone employee. Thanks Vodafone for the late update!!!!!
1663 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Getting worse at 27 Dec 2010 08:08:04 AM
I have been with Vodafone since 1996 and up until the last say 3 years have been very happy with them. But in the last three years, they have moved their call centre & rather than getting people in North Ryde or down in Tassie - I now have to wait hours on the phone to finally get someone I can barely understand let alone hear, in a forgein country who then sticks to the script and fails to provide any real useful information or assistance. I remember when their data team actually knew what was going on and were very helpful. In recent months - possibly since the merger with 3, I have found call / signal quality to be getting worse. Christmas day I was trying to have a conversation with my sister & the call dropped out at least 3 times. I have not complained to vodafone as I can not be bothered wasting my time on hold to them. I may go straight to the TCO.

I spent over an hour to my health care provider (put it on HANDSFREE at work) and it eventually cut me off so this kind of irritation happens everywhere.
I'm a private citizen and don't use my Vodafone mobile for business. Just wanna say I've had NO problems with them. No, I'm not a VODAFONE employee but just want to let you know that I haven't experienced any of the mess you're all talking about. Maybe I will in the future, in which case I'll support you but now I can just commiserate with you.

I have bought vodaphone connection last month. yesterday whole day my iphone 4 was not working, as i had full coverage bars on the phone. But i was not able to make calls or recieve calls. when i called-up vodaphone my landline, the stupid customer care person answered by call after 15 minutes and transfered the call to different department. Had to wait for 2 hours no response. Once again disconnected and call once again. It took another 30 minutes. There was no apology from customer care person. Can i get rid of this contract. Don`t want to suffer for another 23 months. if any one has solution, please email me sak787@yahoo.com
27 Dec 2010 08:11:18 AM: there you go, you have my "re-boot" problem too (see my post 2 up). You need to turn your phone off then back on to re-set the network attach signal. It sucks - its SO FRIGGEN annoying becuase you dont know its happened !!

I am so relieved to have now found this site. My iphone 3GS has been a nightmare. I ring a number, and it just freezes for 3 minutes. It says call failed 9 times in a row before it rings. It drops out up to 8 times on a 10 minute call to a work colleague, or my mum. And as for 3GS, it is redundant. I rang and emailed them and got the run around. I am going to be joining the class action.

1652 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception at 27 Dec 2010 08:03:09 AM
We own and operate a business in the Charlestown area. Have a business mobile plan with 3 phones. The coverage says 3G but we have to divert all calls to our home phone. Zero reception.
The Charlestown bypass you may get edge if your lucky but your call will drop, even going past one of regions major hospitals and no reception. Ment to be 3g. When I'm on the road through this region I rely on good data coverage as well as phone reception. Where they say its 3g it just is not. Have complained through the formal Vodafone process but unacceptable response.
So essentially paying for service that does not deliver. Costing my business.

1647 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TOTALLY FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 08:01:02 AM
I have been a loyal vodafone customer for 10 years, give or take. Previously I would recommend them to friends as they had awesome customer service, despite the fact the network was only good inside metro areas. Over the past year or two, this has changed. Poor network coverage, both phone and broadband, drop-outs, voicemail messages that come through anywhere from 6-48 hours after they are submitted. But the biggest fail of all is the Customer Service (or lack of.) Earlier this year it took me 4 phone calls, a number of emails and around 2 hours of hold-time, just to change my address. Then, the operator that emailed me had the ordasity to tell me "not to get upset" or something similar, after all this. More recently, I don't bother ringing them as each time you do, its another 1-2 hours on hold, then they transfer you to another department, and the call mysteriously drops out and back to sqare one! Just a tip... if I want something done now, I tell "Lara" I want to cancel, somehow that gets me thorugh to very helpful people in Melbourne, who actually jump over themself to help with anything!

Got given an iPhone by my employer, connected to Vodafone, and I have to say, thank god I'm not paying for it myself, because if I was, I'd feel like I'd been robbed blind. The network is atrocious: often has no signal, and even when it claims to have a solid signal, often the data connection just does nothing, never loads a page. This makes my first mobile phone I bought in 2000 look BRILLIANT compared to Vodafone's 2010 network.

Call dropouts on average every 20min, every time I drive over the Gladesville bridge when on the phone the call drops out, and very very very poor reception at Drummoyne. I'm on pre-paid and will move to Telstra soon. From all accounts the other telco's are just the same - with less friends reporting issues with Telstra.
1634 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Simply awful at 27 Dec 2010 07:53:53 AM
I live in Darlinghurst and my calls are constantly dropping out, and that's when I can dial out. Oftentimes it will take 2-3 attempts before I can call out.
Also had issues being reachable. Husband tried repeated to call me, but my phone never rung and on his end appeared to be disconnected, it would not even divert to voicemail. Have also had the situation, where I've received voicemails more than an hour after they were left, and my phone had not even rung either.
Don't get me started on the data. It is also truly abysmal. I must restart at least twice a day.
Someone get me out of this contract.

Firstly, Lara... please someone get ride of her.I came off contract October 23rd 2010 on hold for two periods of 1 and a half hours each trying to discontinue with this unprovider, finially got through to somewhere in the world, got onto to pre paid, still recieved email informing me of continued billing, spent another 40 minutes on hold again.Vodafone if your reading this customer service should be your mantra not providing the best possible deal that you can't provide... I wissh you the biggest possible failure

Repeat intermittant connectivity via 3G. Unfortunately my work is with Vodafail and so everyone is suffering. Vodafail stated the issue was only in the Lower North Shore (lie) and simply recommended to switch off 3G for the foreseeable future - that was their ONLY suggestion. Voicemail very hit & miss, sometimes coming in a group every 48hrs or so. All in all absolutely shocking - there is no way I'd ever recommend or go with Vodafone / 3 ever again.
27 Dec 2010 07:59:59 AM: did you get a "up to 50 percent discount" to go to a lesser graded system? i bet you didnt

Calls go straight to voicemail
Phone says there is reception but says my phone is off
Try to make a phone call and sometimes need to try over 5 times to work
Receive voicemail notifications hours later
Try to call Vodafone and was on hold for over 30 minutes each time. Who has time to stay on hold that long? I waited once and call was answered 48 mins later to someone who was extremely difficult to understand... Problem still not resolved...

I live and work in the inner-city and rarely have enough signal strength to use the internet on my phone. Smartphone on Vodafone, not so smart at all.
1624 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is email at 27 Dec 2010 07:47:12 AM
I recently purchased wireless for my data from Vodafone store in North Rocks NSW, however, I am unable to send emails. I called Voda asking why it wasnt working and was told in no uncertain terms that Vodafone are an internet provider, not an email provider and as such did not deem this issue an urgency. He also went on to say that it would be several months for Voda to get around to looking at this problem. Therefore, I have no way of sending/replying to emails.

I did not sign up to not being able to make calls or be contacted, let alone useless 3G coverage, its as if do the poor performance from 3 has jumped across to Vodafone since they merged. I see another One.Tel story happening here.

My area is clearly within all the 3G and mobile internet coverage areas according to the Vodafone web site. However, at home (Baulham Hills), I only ever get Edge these days.
Very keen to get one of the pocket wifi devices but not if it only provides Edge speeds (which are horrible).

1617 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrible at 27 Dec 2010 07:43:34 AM
I bought a new HTC Windows Phone 7 and I had problems with my phone from day one. After hours waiting on the customer help line, I went to the store and after hours of testing, I was given a new phone. With the new phone I had so many drop outs it was impractical to use it. I have poor reception in Lane Cove where I have to "share" my conversation with my neighbours walking around the house, but I had huge problems in the CBD as well. I have to admit, I gave up, I am using another old model (still getting the dropouts) and resigned. I left messages on Vodafone and HTC Facebook but I had no response (their help line is simply impossible - I waited a few times for more than half an hour without any response). I am very frustrated with Vodafone service.
1616 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 07:42:56 AM
I live in the CBD, which should be the best reception that you can get. But I've had constant dropouts, inability to place calls, poor data reception (41 floors in the air) and calls going STRAIGHT TO MESSAGEBANK!
So frustrating. Vodafone better fix these issues soon otherwise I can see their end in Australia as a telco.

What happened is when my phone is out of coverage it does not log back onto the network. I have to turn off my phone and switch it back on again.
I've since churned to Optus and do not have any of the issues I had with Vodafone.
Don't understand why I put up with it for so long.

1609 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Network Availability at 27 Dec 2010 07:38:25 AM
Coincidently I live and work next to the F3 freeway on the Central Coast, NSW, and the availability of service on the network is poor and when I do get it extremely poor. Calls frequently attempted to have them through and drop outs occur most often. Regret advising people for the new plans. Their network is not kept up to the expanded customer base they have sought through their marketing. Mobile data rarely on 3G, using the older network type most of the time. Ken.
1608 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:38:08 AM
I had a business plan (3 mobiles) with VF for several years, paying $250 - $500 per month when in Australia and up to $2,000 when I travelled due to extortionate global roaming fees. When not travelling I work from home.
When I moved to my current address (Dural) I could not get a signal inside the house. I had to move out to the corner of the backyard where I received patchy signals at best. I could not use the phone to make calls or for data, all I could do was go outside several times a day to retrieve messages, then call clients back from my landline.
A friend of mine commented "why are you paying so much for a service you cannot use", and I realised how right he was. I called VF and reported the problem. Nothing happened. I called back and said unless I heard from them in 24 hours I am cancelling my service. Because I spent $5k plus per annum I thought they would at least look into it. I heard nothing, so I changed to Telstra, and still pay extortionate prices but at least I can make and receive calls and use the data functions of the phone now.

Well done Adam, great job on the web site. You should be given an Order of Australia for your service to Australian Telecommunications Industry. Poor old CEO Nigel might get sent to Business Studies reform school for his performance.
The fact that Vodafone's spin doctors has spent so much time and effort on this web site trying to discredit customer comments reassures me that the class action well be sucessful. They are worried!

I have been a Vodafone customer since 1995 and on the hwloe I am reasonably happy with the service and deals in my contract, but sadly the one place where their signal sucks is my home! And as I work from a home office, this is a real pain. One minute you have a great signal and you can talk away, next minute - without moving the phone - you have no network coverage!!
Move around the house and the signal might stay with you or it might drop out. VERY FRUSTRATING! sometimes you get a message from Voicemail time stamped for the same time you are listening to the call you supposedly missed, but the phone didn't ring for the actual call.
Yes please Mr Vodafone - lift your game!

I rarely have reception, and when I do receive a call it drops in and out, spent the last week and a half on and off hold with vodafone who don't have any call centres in Australia..... and then told my phone is fine because I can receive a phone call outside my house, I continued to complain and nothing was done until I mentioned I was a journalist student and they said they would cut my cancellation fee by 50 % and give me two months free phone use ( cause I can use my phone so much) but still pursuing my case as I want out of vodafone. Had two good years with vodafone now really disappointed and angry

1593 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is There is no service in Potts Point at 27 Dec 2010 07:30:12 AM
There is simply no service in Potts Point. DO NOT JOIN Vodafone if you live in or around Potts Point - I have limited ability to use my phone to make calls, send texts or get voicemail. Even when i have my phone on and it shows full service my partner calls me from his phone (about 1 metre from mine) and the call goes straight to voicemail. Is this a sly way to earn revenue from voicemail retrieval? As soon as our contract expires we are gone.

For iPHONE users - when you have poor phone reception or data performance
try to go - SETTINGS > GENERAL > NETWORK > turn off ENABLE 3G. This allows you to use the slower 2.5G network. The "3G" sign will be replaced by an "E" on your phone - which most the time works for me. (Alexandria, NSW)

I have been a Voda customer since 1996. They used to be great, I used to be rewarded for being a loyal customer. Now, they suck and don't care about their customers, even old ones like me. The last few months is the first time in 15 years I've seriously thought about leaving.
* Other people have found me uncontactable. My other half rang me at home the other day and said "Why aren't you answering your mobile?" My mobile hadn't even rung. He said it went through to voicemail. I'm still waiting to get the message. (This now happens A LOT, which is making work and business colleagues very frustrated with me. Voicemails can take days to come through, if they come through at all.)
* How is it that I can live in Glebe, in plain view of the city skyline, and get no reception? Broadway Shopping Centre is also an inexplicable dead spot, and has been for the last three or four years.
* 3G is uselessly slow when you get it. If you get it. Wherever you are.
* My latest fun experience - I was on a work trip overseas and had switched on Global Roaming via the website before I left. When I landed in the UK, I had no reception and no Global Roaming. The person who was picking me up couldn't contact me, I couldn't contact him. It took him hours of walking around the airport to find me. When I got to a computer, I turned roaming on again. A couple of times. Again, nothing. I called customer service, was on hold for an hour and had to give up (any wonder I came home to a $900 phone bill!). I later called the faults line, who told me there had been an issue with switching on GR via the website (for three weeks??? WHERE WAS THE MESSAGE ON THE WEBSITE SAYING 'THIS DOESN'T WORK, PLEASE CALL US', VODA??) They said they could put in a request to turn on my roaming but it might take 3 days. I sent a bunch of emails to various people which resulted in it being switched on sooner. In the meantime, I'm in a foreign country, for work, and practically uncontactable.
One thing that was an eye opener on this trip - the reception and 3G speed I had in the UK and the US was exemplary. It is what Voda promises here, and it showed me just how much they don't deliver.
Thank you and f%$k you Vodafone, for leaving me with no alternative but to switch to those damn crooks at Telstra.

Data unable to connect just as often
General poor service (signal) level

I have been with vocative since they first came to Australia, however their poor grade of service is affecting my business.
I have been doing some testing with TELSTRA and am finding the service generally superior in both reach and speed.

Vodafone has messed out their network over the last 2 months.
I live in Alexandria, NSW and have been with them for 12 months now on an iPhone contract. First 10 months, no issue. Networks performance became very poor. Reception disappeared in the middle of the call. Restart the phone and reset network settings not helping. My hospital and friends tried to call me to check out on me after an operation was fuming and worries course I was UN-CONTACTABLE for hours when my reception was DEAD. They thought I was dead while I was resting/sleeping at home not knowing the phone reception was gone for hours.. Totally unacceptable.

Their "PREPAID" mobile broadband USB stick is the worst thing i have ever owned, paid out $120 to get 2GB of data, the 2GB acutally never eventuated, but the major problem is the terribly slow wireless network, my friends dial up was actually quicker, and at busy times, the network never worked at all - too many ppl on the system it just crashes! Signed up to another carrier via my landline, and the commy is 10 times faster, and hasnt had a problem since i signed 4 months ago. Anyway, their system let me down so much, and all the guy could tell me was to take it to another place to use it - WHAT THE? Why would i need to take it to another place, when the stick gave me 3/5 network bars? Are you telling me that is not enough reception? I have a desktop computer! Its the damn faulty stick or the network. He had no answer to fix it, so i fixed it and went somewhere else. Do yourself a favour, DONT GET THE WIRELESS USB STICK!!!!!!!!!!
27 Dec 2010 08:00:00 AM: Same. 2Gig stick usb modem. sitting in my office in the heart of the Sydney CBD I regularly get speeds slower than dialup (actually a lot slower than dialup- try 9600 baud if lucky). It took me over four hours to even activate the stick through the Voda website because the networks speed was so slow. (The activation process directs all traffic from the stick to the activation website until done). Thankfully I bought prepaid and am not locked into any contract. The fact is that I paid $120 for something that simply doesn't work. I wont ever use VF again.

Reception was non-existent in my room, let alone in the lounge room. apparently it was the one area of launceston that didnt have very good coverage.. It was the stick itself that was the issue.. i had reception only hours before. at the end of the day, the call center had stuffed up my computer with a stupid dial-up option always popping up and never disappearing, my computer forced itself off, and wanted to restore itself to a previous date and my Internet security had turned itself off. I had not changed any of the settings; so i do blame vodafone. Now just to add insult to injury, am moving to queensland and will need to find a new internet provider as i wont have reception where i am moving to. Massive Fail on the part of vodafone.
27 Dec 2010 12:07:13 PM: Yeah same problem. I had to use it for a month or two due for my business because the main line was down due to a disaster and being in ICT I can easily spot the problem. Cheap, crappy Chinese piece of trash. Drivers are written by morons, GUI software doesn't work properly (bandwidth counter doesn't work), it's not properly plug-n-play and barely supports Windows 7 let alone anything exotic.

27 Dec 2010 07:42:13 AM: I second that! I purchased a USB stick on behalf of a friend, in an area of supposedly good reception according to their own coverage map. When (if) it connects, the signal is always poor to very poor, and S-L-O-W. I have seen better speeds on dialup...
1566 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Fail at 27 Dec 2010 07:10:49 AM
Experiencing continual lack of reception, usually have up to 5 messages sitting in my outbox because there's no signal to send them >_<
I just started another 2 year contract a few months ago, so I'm stuck with this for a while =[

Go to pyrmont and try and get a service. It seems to be a complete blackout area for Vodafail. I spent 4 hours over there the other day, had no service the whole time. A complete joke.
1558 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Carnag at 27 Dec 2010 07:00:42 AM
My phone is critical to my business. It constantly drops out, loses service, data is so painfully slow compared to Telstra. You ring Vodafail, they say go and get a new sim when they know their network is not fit for purpose. A friend who works for Nokia told me they look after Vodafail's network and it is basically a lack on investment. It is criminal they take people's money and do not provide a service. We're moving to Telstra and will never be back.

1554 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic-Fail at 27 Dec 2010 06:59:04 AM
Haven't touched them for a few years since they blacklisted me for refusing to pay their obscene account. I was overseas, very sure of the details of global roaming charges, only made and received phone calls within the promotional time and duration specified, and got home to find my calls that should have cost less than $100 according to their promotional blurb, actually cost over $1,000 because they forgot to mention that the overseas roaming mobile pays for all incoming calls regardless of the local promotion at home and despie the fact they offered the deal for when you're overseas. They never got the money and will never get my business again.
1551 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big Fail at 27 Dec 2010 06:55:20 AM
Live in Surry Hills and there is a huge black hole around Crown, Riley and Oxford St. In that area without fail (no pun intended) calls won't connect or drop out and text messages won't send. Lucky I only have a few months left on my contract, after that it's goodbye Vodafail. Hopefully some of the other carriers will start offering deals to get disgruntled Vodafail customers to switch early.
1550 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Even more impossible! at 27 Dec 2010 06:54:23 AM
Having now read through other people's pain, it reminded me I have big problems with text messages between Aus and NZ. Lots of texts to my mother in NZ have never arrived and I have not got a few from her or they have arrived days later. Spoke to VF about it and they blamed her network LOL
1549 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 06:54:16 AM
I actually thought I was going mad to be honest, the usual, call drop outs, took AGES to hang up on a call, NO SERVICE in CBD areas...Voicemail was delayed and so was SMS...Web was often slow and got the usual error messages. After spending 2 hours on the so called HELP Line I decided to go into the store and make them feel my pain as I waited on the phone line. I guess whilst on hold the guy at the counter we had to enter into polite conversation, so after about 30 minutes the guy admitted that since vodafail had purchased "3" they have had significant problems with service..I spent literally 2 hours being pushed from DEPT to DEPT each blaming the other, and in the end they told me it was my iPhone and needed to go to Apple. Over the last week I have heard about the numerous complaints and I have decided to lodge a complaint with the TIO as I can't be bothered to waste any more time with Vodafail on their Helpless Lines..Voda have until the 12th Jan to contact me and I am going to demand to get out of my contract, will keep you all posted

1545 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 3G massive fail at 27 Dec 2010 06:51:39 AM
If I ever have 3G turned on on my iPhone, I get my sms's hours late or not at all. Every time someone tries to call me it says my phone is off - even if I am right next to them and my phone shows full reception!
As soon as I turn onto 2G my phone miraculously works most of the time - but I have virtually no internet access because 2G is sooooo slow. Grrrr.

1543 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Huge at 27 Dec 2010 06:49:38 AM
I'm experiencing continual and consistent call drop outs and delays in receiving voicemail and text mesages. In many instances, voicemail and text messages are only received 24 hours after they were despatched. Changing my service provider from Telstra to Vodafone was a huge mistake which I regret.
27 Dec 2010 08:40:40 AM: I think your lucky to be able to make a connection without as we have to do 20 south kms south of Bathurst climb a tree and as of late in the rain, vodafone sold us services and phones and a service they can not provide
27 Dec 2010 10:27:36 AM: Funny, I drive from Sydney to Orange and beyond regularly and never have any coverage issues.
1542 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Impossible at 27 Dec 2010 06:45:59 AM
I have been trying to resolve an issue for over 12 months and its as simple as registering my credit card for online top ups. I apparently can't register it as it's registered to another account (its not!) and when I try a different number I get told I have exceeded the number of cards registered and get a massive FAIL. I am told there is no way of resolving this issue (i.e. they can't fix their own software).
I have been dealing with them through their email system and the last response was to call their specialist Technical Support. Already spoken with them and they were as much use as tits on a bull. I'm taking it to the TIO as I am sick of the inconvenience.
Oh yes - I have bad coverage too. I know a number of Vodafone people in my suburb who have the same issue (compared to other telcos) and getting their mobile broadband was a laugh.

Phone totally dead from 11am Xmas day. Unable to call out. People unable to call me. No sms. No Data.
Had to use Skype to call family in Western Australia.
called tech support Boxing day.
Told to reset network settings. Nothing Happens.
Then in and out of flight mode. Everything now works - Well for a bit.
Then back to the black hole. no coverage, no phone, no sms, no data

I am experiencing the same issues as everyone else here and all I have to say is that I am so dissapointed with the way this whole thing has been handled. The CEO posts a message on the site on the 21st of December asking people to email in their feedback (which i spent time doing) and only to receive a big fat nothing from them! Why ask for feedback when you are not going to respond! I chose the email option because I can not handle speaking to their people anymore who are by no means empathetic and last week were claiming all the issues had been fixed! I'm feeling a little trapped here as I am in contract until September 2011 and feel like there is no way out!
27 Dec 2010 07:43:04 AM: Speak to the TIO.
If they think you have a case they will assign a # to you and pass the details on to Vodafail.
At that point you will find that Vodafail start to take you very seriously.
Good luck.

Went to the boxing day sales today. The only two stores closed in the whole of this large shopping centre were Vodafone and 3. Methinks that they are trying to avoid a net loss of customers on this extremely busy shopping day. If there are any Vodafone employees here that can explain why, I'd be most interested.
Seems like they are not only locking customers out of customer service on 1555, but avoiding the need to provide assistance through their stores.
ACCC, surely this must be an issue???

26 Dec 2010 04:58:40 PM: I would be pretty sure they missed communications that mall was open? I know some stores were open (city) but most are shut today (i.e. suburban malls not open and street sites). All the mall stores will be open tomorrow. It's safe to say no conspiracy theory there...
26 Dec 2010 06:54:06 PM: The above post is correct, stores should have been open today. They'll be open all this week as well except New Years Day .
27 Dec 2010 06:59:57 AM: no excuse - read what was written - "The only two stores closed in the whole of this large shopping centre were Vodafone and 3". They didn't bother clearly, and clearly you didn't read it either. You work for them CLEARLY
1535 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodaphone & Virgin at 26 Dec 2010 02:16:35 PM
When my Contract ended with Vodaphone...call drop outs very, very annoying, dead areas. I switched to Virgin....welcome to my nightmare! Unable to use mobile from my home. Couldn't receive or send anything!!! Phone calls to the 'Help Desk' in Phillipines waiting, waiting, then explaining my story to numerous people, day after day....response phone is OK take it to the Store. 3 trips to Store..told couldn't help me ring Phillipines..Scream!! I kept asking Phillipines could I speak to someone in Australia...they would transfer me to another person in the Phillipines. I then rang the Tele. Ombudsman - was told Virgin is not adhering to the Contract. (Gave me a Ref No) Transferred me direct to Virgin....ah! an English speaking Australian..waited 2 weeks for an investigation. R'cd phone call from Virgin..we are sending you an envelope, please put your phone back in the box & book a Courier at our expense. Phone returned, Contract cancelled..I beat a hasty retreat to Telstra......no problems whatsover.....I'm in heaven....sheer bliss!!!
26 Dec 2010 03:46:24 PM: I moved to Telstra from Vodafone. like night and day. shame on you Vodafone.
