Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

13172 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception issues at 21 Jan 2011 06:28:02 AM
I just cannot believe how bad voda's service is. Can't get decent reception, phone drops out ALL THE TIME, can't use the 3G network, have to keep switching to the 2G network because it's all so overloaded sometimes on the 3G network I can't get service AT ALL to make or receive calls. Customer service is useless, it's just so so frustrating that a telco with such good plans is so crappy. What's the point in having all these awesome unlimited deals if you can't make calls or use the data you're given?!

My new Iphone when i bought it last year was faulty.I was asked to go nearby store fix it.The store person said to come back after a week. After a week i was told they will take the mobile but no loan mobiles will be given and not sure when the mobile will come back from repair. Vodafone has the worst network coverage and customer service. I am just waiting for my contract to finish and i'll get away from from this network. Luckily my phone was fixed by Apple because i was still covered by 1 year warranty.
13170 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Really bad at 21 Jan 2011 06:26:19 AM
New customer on 24 month contract. Continual dropped calls. Having to stand in certain spots in the house to make or receive a call so I can actually hear the person. And the worst of all, delayed SMS messages that remain in the outbox and are not sent unless I physically resend. Reception can be shocking, can hardly hear what is being said so I am required to use loudspeaker. Thanks for this website.
13169 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Network Coverage at 21 Jan 2011 06:24:21 AM
We were just on holidays in Victoria - In Loch Sport & could only get coverage at the local pub or on a hill - Fellow Telstra users had coverage on the deck. I could cope with this but we had to go to Lilydale - a suburb of Melb for a wedding leaving our children with my mother in Lochsport. We had absolutely no coverage in Lilydale & had to get the message that our daughter had been stung by a jellyfish 3hours after the event through a friends Telstra mobile. NOT HAPPY AT ALL

13165 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is no service at 21 Jan 2011 06:18:52 AM
Hi i've been with Vodafone since 1999 and i have noticed there service has been getting worse and worse!!! I live in Frankston witch they tell me is in the 3G aera, but i get very little coverage. It has got better for me since i got rid of the phone i got from Vodafone and brought a phone with Telsta running software in it!!!!! I'm with 3 as well with my USB internet and since Vodafone has joined with 3 my internet signal has got worse!!!! I has asked them many many times why is it so bad and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong!!! But i have never seen any Vodafone staff in my aera checking the service, so how would they now if it is good or bad!!!!!!!!!!
21 Jan 2011 08:42:38 AM: It's getting worse due to the explosion in demand for data services (internet, facebook, skype et al) which is consuming network bandwidth. Not defending it but all Telco's are behind the curve on this one and it will take a while for them to catch up.
13164 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 21 Jan 2011 06:18:28 AM
I have constant call drop outs and I live in the Aussie capital WHAT THE? Its a running joke with family and friends, if my call drops out we have a plan where whoever rings in the first place rings back, otherwise we both try and ring back and then cant get through, but its that regular a problem that everyone knows and its been over the ladt 2 years. Also often in areas where I had recieption (once again note I live in a capital city) there is no reception. Have reported it to Vodafone, but according to them they dont have network issues and it must be my phone or sim card. Well the fact that it has happened on 5 phones and 3 sim cards blows that theory out of the water. So there seems nothing I can do but ring back when calls drop out or swear under my breath when suddenly I cant get reception in the Aussie capital in places that I could the day before. No Network Problems Vodafone???? Go figure????
13163 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is damn fail at 21 Jan 2011 06:18:23 AM
I want my money back for usb modem i bought from woolies and internet credit i bought online. reception of the onternet, drop internet and customer service is poor, very poor and couldn't fix the problem. the usb now is just useless and my money gone in the rubbish bin.... i'm sad..
13162 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No coverage at 21 Jan 2011 06:17:26 AM
I use my Mobile as a Home Phone being a Pensioner, so rely on it to have coverage. I repeatedly do no get coverage and my calls come up as Call Failure, and even walking around the garden holding it in the air doesn't help. It is concerning as when I am ill and need to ring a neighbour and it doesn't work, it does raise the stress levels somewhat. I do all that the site says, e.g. changing sim cards and realise that it is not my phone at fault, just the Vodaphone coverage.
13156 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Contract/reception at 21 Jan 2011 06:10:47 AM
I was with Vodafone, but after fighting with them for 6 months regarding my reception and coverage issues I contacted the communications ombodsman, it was solved within a week. They released me from my contract,I kept my handset and mobile number!
21 Jan 2011 07:02:40 AM: Great Idea...I think its the way Im going to go too since Ive had nothing resolved!
13154 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is reception & delayed voicemail at 21 Jan 2011 06:07:30 AM
having been with vodafone for over 15years its time to tick tock to my end of contract and go elsewhere! Actually may have been with them since they started! Too loyal and I've had enough! Reception no matter what phone Ive used has worsened as has retrieving my voicemail. customer service isnt any better, you ring and are held for an eternity then given suggestions that have no solution to your dilemma. Person to person customer service has gone downhill a million miles a minute as theyre all young..busy texting and chatting to friends while your standing there waiting to be noticed. Then its like you've interrupted their plans and are spoken to in a tone that deserves a slap! Reception is definately the worst. My husband is with Optus and he stands in the same spot I do and has full bars on his and I have drop out.(again regardless what phone Im using!) Friends with Telstra..same story, they have endless bars of reception ..I dont. Sick of it. Im done and Im leaving!
21 Jan 2011 06:13:55 AM: Vodafone havent been in australia for 15 years...
21 Jan 2011 06:19:07 AM: maybe? not sure but Ive been with them for as long as they've been here! Im pretty sure it was back in at least 1998!

21 Jan 2011 06:15:31 AM: Apsolutely same problem here! They are getting worse to the extreme! Reception is my main problem as is retrieval of voice or sms's.They'l try and blame the phone or as you said.,.handball you to different departments and an hour +++ later..same boat you started in. TERRIBLE! I want OUT only I stupidly started another contract last august (before all this got worse) so Im counting down to OUT TIME! Id go to Optus or even Testra..as my husband has with his business and they have no issues and great customer service. They respond and your not on hold for over 1/2 hour. Goodluck
21 Jan 2011 07:21:43 AM: Escalate your complaints to the TIO - We are out of our contracts now free of charge....V will do a investigation into network - press hard you have no coverage and speak to management in contracts. you too will get out of your contracts !! Good Luck
13151 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 21 Jan 2011 06:04:51 AM
I have a phone that turns itself off, calls constantly drop out and some messages take over 12hrs to get to me. I went into the local dealer to have my phone repaired and I was told that because he had no loan phones, I would have to be without a phone, but I need it 24hrs for business, so that wasnt an option. I said I wanted to upgrade to a better phone, but he said I couldnt because I have a contract with them for the current phone I have. I now have to wait around 18 more painful months for the contract to finish before I can change to a much better phone company. There are even DAYS when the network goes down and when you call all you are told is pretty much, bad luck. I would never never never tell anyone to deal with Vodafone. Cant wait until I dont have to.
13149 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very at 21 Jan 2011 06:02:42 AM
I have been a vodafone customer for almost 15 years, and in the last 6 or so weeks my service has been terrible.
My phone calls drop out, or do not connect, and my internet performance is almost useless.
Upon ringing Vodafone, I was sent through to technical support (after 20 minutes on hold) and was told to re-set my factory settings (which of course blew away all my cache and book marks). Did it resolve the issue, no.
Next, 32 minutes to Customer Support, who wanted to transfer me to technical support (another 20 minute wait). After requesting a call back, I am still yet to receive one, and have now logged a complain with the TIO.
What do I want? The network fixed in the next 2-4 weeks as my phone is part of my work. If not, to be released from my contract to join another carrier. Will I come back to Vodafone? of course, if they release me from my contract, then fix their network.

We have bought 2 phones from Voda i DEcember 2010.. 1 prepaid, and 1 on contract.
On their website it shows my suburb has full coverage.
We have ZERO coverage.
I have called them, and with the usual wait times.. (one day 2 hours on hold with no call back option.)
They have admitted fault by letting us out of the contract, although i am still trying to get the prepaid unlocked free of charge.
It is pure false advertising, their service does not work in my area.

13134 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Ordinary at best at 21 Jan 2011 05:49:14 AM
Lots of black spots where I get no reception, including the beach (a big wide open space right next to the Newcastle CBD). Delayed SMS and voicemail, up to a day. Very slow data speeds in most areas, I usually don't bother. Haven't had many calls dropped, but quite often I can't understand the user on the other end and vice versa. Hate calling customer service, they don't seem to give a rats. Can't wait to leave if I can't get out of my contract before it ends. I've complained through the facebook page as I'm not wasting MY time on hold for over an hour, I've had a response and am now waiting for more info. I don't know what they'll suggest next but I only have one option for me, I want out!!!
21 Jan 2011 06:08:14 AM: I feel your pain, how can any of the beaches around Newcastle have no service, I even have no service at Charlestown Square, how is that possible???? Feel the same as you, cant wait for my ordeal with vodafone to finish so I can leave them in my past!
21 Jan 2011 06:34:37 AM: Ring the TIO (1800 062 058) & lodge a complaint with them ~ thats what i did. I lodged a complaint with the TIO on Monday 17/01 & received a text from the vodafone resolutions team on Wednesday 19/01 informing me that "i have been released from my contract & i could port my number out from 19/01, also there is a letter with full details to follow." Good Luck
13127 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is high fail at 21 Jan 2011 05:44:35 AM
- there is no coverage inside our appartment and we need to go out onto the street to take calls. Eventually we got a land line, even though none of our friends have a land line (therefor most numbers we call are mobiles- much more expensive from a land line) so that once in a while we could take calls in the comfort of our own home.
- I signed a 24 month contract with Vodafone and got a Nokia N8. After a month and a half the hand set froze and became impossible to use. I sent it off to be repaired through Vodafone for two weeks. Less than 24 hours after i picked it up, same problem. I went back to the shop where I'd purchased the phone but the sales assistant refused to acknowledge my frustration, stating simply that we should resend the phone to be fixed. Meanwhile I'm having to reload my personal data on the phone each time it comes back from repairs. Also my cap includes internet access and there's no such thing on the replacement phones Vodafone is lending me.

- Have been given 3 phones from them on the same plan because each time the hardware is faulty.
- I send messages and the people i send them to don't receive them.. VERY frequently.
- I can't get reception in my apartment near sydney CBD.
- Due to the hardware fails I am reduced to using a $49 nokia i bought from woolworths which doesn't have internet capability.. yet despite having no internet or email capability I am still charged $40 per month for the privelege of using it. (where i had a no usage month with telstra they called to find out what was happening and fixed my issue)
- my first phone bill was $800, due to an error in their billing system.
- Calling I do not get to speak to somebody who can help me and trying to resolve the issue I was hung up on 4 times.
- My plan is up in February and I'm going to optus.

Contacted vodaphone after getting drop outs on calls after approx 1 min. Was told they would get back to me in 72 hours - 2 weeks later they called to say reception in Brisbane area was not good and I should probably replace my sim card as this could also be causing problem!!! C'mon vodaphone what do you take me for - an idiot!!!
13120 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is vodapathetic at 21 Jan 2011 05:37:16 AM
Was with vodafone for a few years. Fed up with shoddy waiting times to talk to customer service and bad coverage, I transferred my number to Telstra. Changed my address with them for final bill. My mail was forwarded for 12months in July 2005 and another 3 in July 06. I cancelled in Sept 06 with Vodafone. For 4 months, they were texting me asking me to rejoin Vodafone with special offers, promotions. In Jan, 07 I opened a nasty letter from a collections co saying I had been defaulted and to pay $176.00. When I rang Vodafone for a please explain and asking why Vodafone had not taken any measure to ring my phone or text me if they could take the time to send me promotional texts and why my address had not been changed when I expressly told them the response was in a foreign accent "Madame, we cannot ring everybody" I was really pissed and tied numerous time with their collections co to have my default removed all to no avail. I got a letter from them stating I had paid but it was too late for my credit file! It has come up in any loan I have applied for an I have been knocked back by my own bank recently for a home loan as they said it was the Vodafone default. It's always Vodafone" my manager stated and shook her head. I rang PDR last year (their collections co)6 times in October. The issue is being looked at with our legal team madame. We will call you tomorrow" Each time no one has called! Another bank has approved our loan as they have seen the sense in my explanation which has always been extensive, emabarrassing and unecessary if they had just got their act together in the first place! They should be shut down. I'm a nurse, mum of four, have no other default ever on my file! They have caused me so much grief, I feel like suing! Vodafone is VODAPATHETIC! Thanks for listening and this great website. Louise.

First of all, I hate Lara. I honestly pity the lady whose voice that is. She is the bane of my existence and I will rejoice the day she actually comprehends what I'm saying. I will have been with Vodafone for 10 years this year. The only reason I don't change now is because I figure that with such a long history I should be able to get top customer service from Vodafone. Alas, I still have to dance with Lara every time I need to sort out a problem and she never leads me to a real human or to the place I want to go. It's a labyrinth in there....
The recent network issues are also driving me insane. Approximately every 15-30 minutes a Network Settings window pops up on my iPhone screen (you know the one!). My network drops out and this delays voicemails, sms and generally fucks up my communication. This should not be happening on such a regular basis when I work in the SYDNEY CBD and live 10 minutes from the city. If I'm experiencing these issues I wonder how people in the suburbs or in the country manage.
This is ridiculous and after speaking to many other longtime Vodafone customers we're all experiencing the same problems. Vodafone, you obviously need to sort out these issues or at least start admitting to a problem here. You simply cannot keep pretending that everything is okay and training your staff to say that 'there is no problem'. There obviously is and you need to address it immediately.
I'd have far more patience with you if you just came out and said you had fucked up. None of this trying to pull the wool over our eyes, please. This is bullshit and bad customer service. We pay for your dinner dudes so you should try and keep us happy.

I called re: leaking of info and after being on hold for 10 mins finally got through to someone who said that there had been no leak although I advised him that Mr Nigel Dews of Vodafone had been on the 7pm Project and said that the most likely thing that had happened was that someone had passed on their password to someone else, I was again put on hold "for only 2 mins" while he "discussed" it with his mamanger. During this time that ended up being a further 10 mins the phone cut out. I then spent another 20 mins trying to get back through to someone and again was put on hold to talk to a manager who assured me again that there had been no leak when I again mentioned that Mr Dews had been on TV admitting guilt without saying guilty she promised that someone would look further in to the matter and that I would have a call back. This was over a week ago now and still no call. Oh, and don't even get me started on waiting on hold to talk to technical support...all I want to do is have call waiting set up on my phone due to a new sim card and I call, am on hold for 30 mins and end up having to hang up as I can't wait on the phone all day with kids!!!! One more thing (seems to be a lot of them) During November 2010 my family and I went to Sussex Inlet NSW with my in-laws....the entire time we stayed in this particular house we had very little coverage, after someone injuring themselves we tried to call home to advise other family members what had happened and out of 4 mobiles, all with Vodafone, we spent over 2 hours calling, hanging up, calling, hanging up DUE TO NO NETWORK COVERAGE until finally only ONE of us managed to get through! Thanks for setting this site up! Job well done!

I have 3 Vodafones. One phone has been with them for 10 years. Coverage has dropped in Ashmore Qld so that I can no longer get reception in parts of my home and no reception at all in my office at Loganholme.
We used to get good coverage.
So something is up and has been since begining of December.
I was told by Vodafone staff that an up grade was happening in Ashmore and would be fixed in 2 weeks. It is now nearly 7 weeks.

The blackspots throughout Brisbane are too numerous to mention. Complained to Vodaphone and all they did was send a computer generated response that meant shit to me. They need to be stopped!!! I am running a business and on the phone alot and it is costing me money. Class action is needed. If they can spend so much money is advertising and sponsorship surely they can spend some and fix their bloody coverage problems. I tell anyone I meet not to go near them

My name is Samantha and I have 2 $65 infinite cap plans with voda. The handset I received with the plans are iPhone 4. My experience with the reception issue is unbearable. Rang customer care was told to buy the cases from apple as it was the handsets fault, mind you that's not my problem anyway bought the cases and still crappy reception. Rand voda again and was told there is no problem with reception and got told to stop complaining which was very rude. I don't know what to do I don't want to pay for a service that I'm not receiving can someone please help or guide in the direction that I should go in as voda is not doing anything for me what so ever. My email is smlmr8189@gmail.com thanks heaps in advance

We switched to Vodafone about 3 months ago in late 2010. Ever since then we've had terrible mobile service. At home in Windaroo the phone is usually either Searching or has one bar. At my sisters and parents houses we get no reception whatsoever. Driving the kids to school in Bethania we only get reception about half of the way. We often receive text messages several hours late.

Hi, I commented a while ago about the terrible coverage I was getting from Vodafone. Since then my complaint has been upgraded with Vodafone and last Monday I received a call from them offering to terminate my contract (didn't even have to ask them)as I live in an "area of low coverage". I was advised to get a new provider and take my number with me, they would send a reply paid postage bag for me to send my phone back in and all fees would be waived! Looks like they are trying to get rid of all problem customers now, lucky for me.

I'm not in a mess anymore. I didn't have reception at my work, which is in Rose Bay - not exactly in the outback. I also had so many dropouts it wasn't funny. So, 9 months ago I switched to Telstra and just paid Vodafone for 6 months while not using their service. I'd never go back to them - very disappointing.

I have a nokia e63. I am averaging 4 call dropouts per week, delayed sms and mms. Internet tends to run real slow at times and sometimes i cannot get onto the internet. I have also found that when the phone has full coverage at times and try to make a call it keeps saying connection error. Also when others try to ring the phone has full coverage but does not ring but goes to messagebank. I have to switch the phone off and on.

I was receiving extremely poor coverage for a good 5 months. This resulted in useless 3G, calls dropping out, not being able to make any calls, text not coming through, voicemails not coming through and constant drop outs. All this and I live on Sydney's lower north shore! Took me over 4 months to finally resolve it which I noted I had to speak to vodafone's "customer support" which i spent over 18 hours on the phone which most of them was on hold. Thank god I contacted the TIO and got out of my contract

After putting up with Vodafone for many years on a personal mobile always the latest of handsets including Nokia,Blackberry and Apple we have moved and it works fine in Harrington Park however near Mount Annan Botanical Gardens the service was so bad you had to stan in front or back yard to make a call.
That is a problem are and was reported to Vodafone on many occasions to no avail. It was so bad we had to install a landline. That are also has issues on internet connections with Unwired and Virgin Broadband. Optus barely works in that area however Telstra worked perfectly, Glad though that the company picked up the bill for that phone.
Other poor reception areas Voyager Point near Liverpool on Heathcote Road but Optus has issues there also.

i m on vodafone, prepay in late 2010, lost a mobile phone so bought another prepaid mobile with vodafone branding. noticed where i work signal tend to show 'no network coverage' quite frequently & then sometimes flipped back spontaneously into ahowing 'vodafone au'; tested and found that mobile phone was truly undetectable (couldn't call out or in) when in 'no networkwork coverage'. So convinced myself to buy another phone and occasionally now the signal bars drop off. still not sure whether it because of the former handset or carrier.

Been on 3 for 18 months until my wife and daughter recently got iPhone 4s with Vodafail and seemed happy with them. I "upgraded" from 3 to Vodafail - what a mistake! The reception is patchy at best and the iPhone isn't the problem it was fine on 3. I should have either stuck with 3 or gone to the dark side (Telstra). The data rates on Vodafail are appalling. I had better downloads on Edge in the USA. The data connection is so slow that SpeedTest won't even run. Absolutely pitiful. They should be hung, drawn and quartered then burned, buried and drowned. An epic fail.

Ever had to struggle to send a text within your own home?? And this does not count if you are in some isolated area of Australia... Greystanes (Parramatta-ish) I literally have no reception at times. I had someone call me for an over the phone job interview and she had to call me back 3 times... and I was outside the house for the majority of it to try and "ensure" I didn't lose reception on what was quite possibly the most important phone call I could receive this year. I am told there is some kind of explaination for the poor reception in Greystanes (something to do with repairs of some sort although it was only meant to last for 2 weeks)... I would confirm this with Vodafone but I refuse to ring them at all costs.
For obvious reasons.
Regards,
The idiot locked to you (Vodafone) for another year and a half.

Here's food for thought... In this household alone, there are three handsets, each operating on a network run by vodafone... Crazy Johns, 3 and Lebara. We're in direct line of sight with a broadcast tower, yet only one bar, on all three handsets, on all THREE networks? I've contacted 3 about the poor coverage, and all they say is that the issue isn't 'trending' in my area. Me being the only 3 customer in my area. I received the same response when I complained to Voda/Hutch Australia. Crazy Johns run on their network and they get NO reception WHATSOEVER. Lebara are only slightly better.
I dont understand how three networks, running from the same tower can get such crap service.
Vodafone are rubbish.

21 Jan 2011 08:50:11 AM: Line of sight doesn't guarantee reception since it's broadcast at an angle that increases coverage. (think about a spotlight 2 inches from the ground and a spotlight 10 feet from the ground) If it pointed down more, then you'd need 3 times as many towers to achieve the same level of coverage. Pointing up and out more increases the coverage spread.

Here on my phone I get almost zero reception and MMS arive days late if at all. Data wise I can barely connect to the network with the wireless USB, let alone refresh a website.
I am in the 3rd biggest city in one of the world's most developed nations!! How can a carrier's signal and infrastructure be so terrible? I was with vodafone from 2001 - 2007 and had great service back then. I changed to 3 to get wireless data. No surprise once 3 (hutch) was taken over by VF things went downhill service wise. So about to move to a town where vodafone cannot provide service (i know this i spent a week there with nothing!) they try telling me i can just not with an iphone...so basically i ahve to give up the phone i love coz they cant get their act together! ha? after an hour n a half they offered 3 solutions:
1. drop me to a $29 contract that they will pay till october when my contract ends...sounds good (i can move to another provider without 2 bills) until they say i cant take my number that over 100 people use to contact me on!
2. they will give me a phone that should work....im ive just told you that other friends there with this other phone cannot get reception...so no.
3. they will half my cancellation fee....so i still pay coz u cant provide reception um what!!
This call centre employer was basically saying it was my fault for moving and that i signed my contract for where i live now....um its a mobile phone people move with it! kindly told him that i have the same pain where i currently live...
end result me not happy preparing to call TIO....i want my number my phone and no fee!!

After account access troubles for the past month, mysterious password changes, four digit pin changes and my address changing to the house over the road from me on my account I suspected either sheer incompetence or foul play regarding my account. Once I heard about the information leaks I was sure my details had been tampered with so I called Vodafone to confront them about it.
The first operator told me there is no way that can happen, even though I had called the number Vodafone supplied on their website if you suspected your account details had been compromised. I explained that my password was changing almost everyday, locking me out of my account and I had to call and have it reset. Without even looking he told me that my account had not been compromised so I asked to speak to his manager. He transferred me to someone else who without even asking my name told me that my account was not one of the accounts that had been leaked. I told him that I had been advised that any misleading info regarding this matter would result in criminal investigations by the TIO and he transferred me to someone else.
I knew I had someone who meant business this time because I got an Australian on the phone. I explained my situation to them once again. With a few quick key strokes the operator informed me that my account HAD been compromised! He then offered me a months worth of credit to my account! A whole months worth for getting calls from seedy foreign sales people a dozen times a night trying to sell me anti virus software because they have detected my copy of windows is at risk... I own a Mac... I had a copy of Vodafone's privacy statement prepared and read it to him, the WHOLE thing. He then asked how I would like to proceed. I told him that I was mislead regarding the service I would receive on my phone in the first place, lied to about getting full reception at my house and place of work only to get home and NEVER have any - Contract breach on their part number one... I also told them that they illegally sold my information to a third party for which now I am harassed constantly - Contract breach on their part number two.
He then tried to tell me that I am in a legally binding contract and any attempt to nullify the contract would lead to dishonor fees and charges. So I read the letter the TIO had given me to him stating that since the commencement of the contract I had fulfilled my terms completely - paying accounts on time. However the provider of the account HAD NOT fulfilled the terms of the contract in regards to false information and coercion of the contract, failure to deliver the service promised in the contract and suspicion of criminal activity in regards to information provided for use solely by the contractor.
He went down kicking and screaming, but finally voided the contract. A week later though I get a bill demanding I pay an exit fee which I was advised to forward to the officer from the TIO investigating my case. The exit fee is more than I would have paid for my phone and my contract upfront and I have also received an outstanding account bill for minus $976.88 which I have 14 days to pay!
Unbelievable. How do I pay minus $976.88 before I am reported to debt collectors???

20 Jan 2011 09:09:52 AM: Don't worry Vodafone will try to recover the -$976.88 and include late penalty fees as well!!!
You could end up with a massive debt of over -$1000 and still the debt collectors will be notified!!!

20 Jan 2011 10:02:17 AM: HI Mate: Worse still for you, as the case is referred to a debt collection agency, then you will have a BAD CREDIT rating slapped on you by the CRAA. This means you will note be able to get a loan for anything for the next 5 years!!! Please check before its too late for you. I got stung the same way. Great addition for a law suit.
25 Jan 2011 02:56:28 PM: its a credit you retard :) OMG get a clue, maybe if you had been smart you would of not gone yo vodafone
7 Feb 2011 08:13:48 PM: We all realise it's a credit. We just don't know how this customer is expected to PAY this bill before being turned in to the collection agencies. It is IMPOSSIBLE to pay vodafone -$976.88, yet they are billing it anyway. Obviously you didn't read the post correctly. Who's the retard now?
9 Feb 2011 01:10:37 PM: RE: 7 Feb 2011 10:13:48 PM - In relation to the very last statement and question of your post, those answers would actually be you didn't and you still (and no I am not the poster from 25 Jan).
The invoice showing the credit will no doubt have something printed on it saying something along the lines of "no amount to pay".
If the invoice has been sent for a service which has been disconnected, then the person to whom the invoice has been issued needs to contact the invoice issuer (in this case, Vodafone) to organise a refund of the amount by which the account is in credit.

I am in Ghana. A vodafone worker friend of mine advised me to purchase their 3G modem rather than modem of other networks because all networks purchase the service from vodafone and resell to their customers. The rivals cannot give better service than what voda will provide its own customers. Problems: it was giving me EDGE rather than full-fledged 3G; almost always not getting connected and giving RAS Error 618,797 etc. Sometimes will sit around for hours without connection.Disconnect often with annoying message 'firefox is working offline'. There was no support. I threw the modem away when I bought an EVDO modem from another provider. It is superb and has telephone no. of customer support on its brochure which can be reached even at weekends.

Vodafail has turned my iphone into a ipod. All those amazing features that made me fall in love with my iphone, are now either not working or to slow to use. I now use my iphone for listening to music, only.
Who is responsable for this? Vodafail acquires 3 mobile, move customers over to vodafail network, but do nothing in terms of infrastructure to support this influx of users. As result, all existing users are left with iphone bricks. We signed up for 24 month contracts based on 3G, which is not being provided. So again, who - not the company name, not the merger, no excuses - who the F*** gave the approval for this merger, without having the infrastructure in place??? They should, no questions, ask be fired.
More to the point, "fixing" this issue is not an acceptable solution. Compensation, at this stage, is a must.
As of today, I am cancelling my vodafail contract and moving to Optus. Telestra has been a joke since it went private and now vodafail is joke. Let this be a lesson, excessive greed (acquisition of 3 mobile, taking on this huge influx of new customers) has blown-up in your face. Best of luck Vodafail - with PR - legals - etc..... for your screwed.

21 Jan 2011 02:22:17 AM: Yes I am kinda pissed with Vodafone too, but if Vodafone do "fix" this issue, I would be more than happy to stay with them, without compensation (although cheaper rates would always be welcomed!) I just want reception again. I find it difficult to understand how a year ago, I dont think I ever lost reception. Now finding reception is a chore. Fix this, and I might sign up with them again. If they dont fix this within the next 6 months, they have lost me.

Issues withcall drop outs and very slow network coverage on my phone and frequent dropping out of the 3G network. I rang Vodaphone to complain about these issues and was told to switch to 2G! Am paying for 3G not 2G, Vodaphone offered to give me a $10 discount on my bill which I have never seen. Can't wait for my plan to expire.
19 Jan 2011 11:00:40 PM: Don't give up complain to the telephone industry obudsman TIO. When you bomb out there for about $30 you can appeal to vcat and ask then to examine the fairness of Vodaphone contracts like statements about how many days they have to deliver text messages before they can be considered late. Wouldn't be nice if Vcat change the conditions to say 3 hours or be compensated. I note in previous decisions they have said these contracts should be examined for fairness and legality!

WHY WHY should i be bounced from Phone services to 2nd class prepaid user before I speak to technical services. WHY WHY should I have to pull out my sim card out of my phone just to get to speak to technical services with a 50 minute wait then have to pull out my sim card out of my phone again! WHY 3rd rate system I repeat complaining about system not people with such limited authority. No problem with phone worked fine in horsham. Just network down. I just need out of my contract, I refuse to pay the ridiculous cancellation fees, it's unbelievable how much they're asking for, I've heard stories from people I know finding ways to cancel the contract, what do I do?

Messages fail to send in any reasonable time frame. I will be talking to my girlfriend (also on vodafone) through texts at noon, responding every 5 minutes or so for about 10 messages. Then suddenly my text goes unanswered. The rest of the afternoon I work, send a few texts, no big deal. At about midnight, I suddenly get bombarded with 25 texts from my girlfriend as well as various others, time date from 1pm to 11pm.
Simultaneously she receives the same.
Another occasion, I will message her to let her know I'm coming over. Get in the car, drive over, no worries. Then a few hours later we will go out, and she finally receives my message. Go figure.
Calls fail to connect also. Either my phone cannot connect to the network (Connection Error, with full reception according to the display), or it can't find the other person.
Coverage where I live is supposed to be fantastic, and also where she lives, but it just doesn't work (Kensington NSW).

I have been with Voda Fone for many years, I have had my I phone 3 for over a year and the signal and 3 G network appeared reasonable up till December 2010. I use to always have at least 4 or 5 signal bars displayed constantly. From all of December till this date it's appeared to be getting even worse if that possible. No signal whasoever tonight i n my area of Putney Gladesville. Ring customer service previously and it took a conservative 1 hour to be told they were not taking calls that evening. Prior to that i have waited to be told by lara I have progressed in the Q , as my I phone was about to run out of battery. Didmn't have to worry thou, I got gonnected to An Indian male, that I could not understand, and he could not understand me. I would assume the problem may have been that he could not even comprehend, interperate, nor complete even the most rudimentary customer service. I was polite at all times and respectful of the apparently non speaking male. I asked if I could perhaps speak to a supervisor or someone eles and \I'm sure he hung up on me, I had the 1 signal bar going. Voda Frustration, I guess they work on the principal, if you make the problems so converluted, protracted, exasperating, or in this case take hours upon hour of what would have been productive moneyu earning time for me , with them leading me on to believing my call will be answered in soon, with false hope. To be then being looked after by a person that can not even use the Universal language English. Then when I asked to put through to a supervisor to get hung up on, how infuriated I became leaves an idelible imprint of fool me once same on you, if I stay with Voda FoneShame on me! I feel like that Guy the 70's movie Network, Peter FINCH. Sticking my head out a window and Yelling out,"I'm as mad as hell and I'm just not gonna take it any more!" I hope you don't scub this, as Voda Fone appears to dismiss their loyal customers.Cause they are just the plain facts as I see them as a proponent of the Aussie fare go. I feel, if they disenfrachise, remove or complicate the complaint and feed back procedure they have less reports, hence less problems to deal with. A problem not taken to them, appears to be a problem solved for them!
19 Jan 2011 10:26:54 AM: WTF? I think you need a few lessons in the "universal language" of English mate.

I have complained/ attempted to complain to them since I took out a contract 15 months ago for them to provide me with a mobile phone service in inner Brisbane.
Every call is approx 50 mins then it either rings out or I run out of time or they suggested I go to a store.
So 3 or 4 visits to a store some distance away and in the shopping centre 1 of their stores doesn't have mobile coverage unless you step out to the door or beyond !!
At those visits they agreed they had not seen the SMS screen message I was getting 20 or more times per day of "network Lost" . After the 13 month mark 1 consultant suggested it was actually the fault of the iPhone . Within 5 mins I called the iPhone store and had to agree to pay $39 for some prolonged assistance. That was because one of my complaints besides not having mobile service inside my riverside unit in Brisbane, was not being able to sync my phone with a computer because of various messages that they also couldn't explain.
My biggest complaint is the No Service I get in any drive around the city, several times.

We have found our selfs in a house with no reception, to get reception you have to half climb the back fence! This is only in the past 12-18 months however, we resign while the reception quality was going down, because they are going to fix it in the next month or so! Then they have just sent us a bill for $300 extra because they told us one thing when another was the case and then billed us to fix it. Then again when they had to fix it after they didn't and we had to call and have it actually fixed!

This company call Vodafone.
Well when you try to tell them you have a problem at the store, after waiting for a long time, the staff look at you as if they had never ever ever heard of anyone ever complaining about their network and billing issues, if this was in court, the judge would immediately condemn them for contempt of the law.
And when after you waited for hours for their call centre staff, and you try to explain to them the issues their network was causing, they sound surprised, treats you with condescension and belittled you as they have never ever ever heard of any problems with their perfect billing system and their perfect network.
Vodafone: Just about the only most perfect organisation in the world, ever.
what a load of bull shit Vodafone, get your act together or just quit this industry and get into making toilet paper instead.

18 Jan 2011 02:10:58 PM: In addition to keeping a log, I'm going to spread the word on Facebook warning people not to sign up with Vodafone. Clearly the 'Infinite' plans look attractive until you realise they don't work. All the Vodafone shops seem busy signing up customers. I feel very sorry for them. Every extra customer that Vodafone signs up cripples even further the network infrastructure that isn't coping with the current demand. I am convinced this is a network capacity issue.
18 Jan 2011 02:27:54 PM: Yep your spot on. The merge between two company client bases have caused the amount of users to go beyond the limit of their network capacity. Meanwhile Vodafone is attempting to upgrade their network towers. We need a number of customers to leave Vodafone please, to help the company not exceed capacity! Just kidding.
18 Jan 2011 03:26:09 PM: yep i know, i walked past the vodafone shop in my shopping centre today and saw at least 2 suckers signing up, felt like running in there and telling them to get out while they can!!
18 Jan 2011 08:37:11 PM: One way or another I have convinced (easily I might add) 9 people not to sign up with Vodaphone.
8 mobile 1 internet..................a result I think............but wait there's more..................to come!!!!

18 Jan 2011 09:03:53 PM: Customers on 3 and V have not merged onto the one network. This is a myth. It will happen down the track definitely but not yet. People on the Infinite plans make up a tiny percentage of all their customers again no impact. The congestion is coming from smart phone users. I read somewhere that a data session on a smart phone wipes out about 100 slots for talking and texting on a network. (Don't know if that's exaggerated or not but makes sense to me)
18 Jan 2011 09:34:53 PM: Guess that is another possibility. Interesting. Unfortunately there is a exponential growth on smart phone adoption in the market. It's going to make it worse. Damn.
19 Jan 2011 10:05:36 AM: Yup good point about - the networks are completely seperate and have not merged YET. They just have the same senior management team etc, but not the actual network. Don't even use the same signup system or billing teams or anything yet. The network is still under capacity user wise, it is just the faulty network towers that have been causing intermittent problems over the last few months. Full details vodafone website

Network coverage up east coast of Australia works @ 45% - great help when you have a critically ill relative in hospital and needing updates on health progress or when you're late for a job because of highway work and you can't call ahead to your employer! Ridiculous. Even in my home in North Bondi, the network waivers in and out of range EVERY DAY and NIGHT!

I have just been on hold for over an hour to try to have my iphone 4 unlocked (as they've switched me from three to vodaphone due to service coverage issues). I complained about the 3 days that my phone has not had any service, and was put back on hold to customer service to have financial compensation, which I agreed to as long as I wasn't on hold for another hour. The call centre guy claims that my long wait on hold was "due to the floods in Qld" ??! great excuse!
12920 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Never Again at 18 Jan 2011 01:36:54 PM
I just ported out, terrible service, terrible reception and data quality was a joke, never, never ever again.

I was blaming the regular dropouts and delayed sms's on my old Nokia and was patiently waiting for my 2 yr contract to end to upgrade.
I've been to my local Vodafone store. The guy was pleasant but claimed any existing reception problems have been sorted and showed me phones I could upgrade to when the time came.
I'm in business and have spoken with clients (before all the issues came to light) who independently complained of their dropout experiences so now I know I'm not alone. Most disappointing as I've been very happy with Vodafone and have been a loyal customer for year. Not as from next month though...
