Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Seems like I'm in the same boat as a lot of people... I have been with 3 for several years and since they merged with Vodafone I've had nothing but troubles - bad reception, dropouts etc etc etc I used to be with Vodafone many years ago but switched to 3 because of their poor coverage.
I can't sit inside my house and talk on the phone because it continuously drops out. I can look at my phone and watch the reception go from 1 bar to roaming to no signal. Why should I have to pay for data roaming charges when I was standing in the middle of Melbourne! It's a disgrace and I'm sick of if.
Unfortunately if I want to get out of this god awful contract I have to pay it out! Hardly seems fair... Such a bad move by 3 to join Vodafone - you will certainly be losing a lot of loyal customers!

I have been with 3 for many years - mobiles & mobile broadband. My coverage with 3 hasnt been that bad. However, I have noticed that since 3 & Vodaphone have merged my coverage has become pretty bad. Often inside my house I have no coverage whereas before I didnt really have problems.
A few months ago I had an issue with my account - I had paid by BPAY & then got a txt saying my bill was overdue so I rang them & was told that I had to pay the bill over the phone or they will disconnect my services. I explained to the moron that I had already paid via BPAY & gave the receipt number etc I told him that under no circumstances was I paying the account again. He got quite demanding & was very rude but I refused to pay the account again & he basically called me a liar & said that I hadnt paid the bill. I got home that night & had a letter in the mail saying my phone bill had the wrong Bpay reference number on it!! That was why they couldnt find my BPAY pyt!! I rang them back & asked to speak to the rude moron that had practically called me a liar (I asked for his name when I initally rang) It was good to hear him squirm when I demanded an apology from him & told him that he was a rude pig!!

5139 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is FRUSTRATED! at 27 Dec 2010 08:38:07 PM
I live in South Melbourne and my phone drops out consistantly when I am talking to other VF customers (in particular) alternatively I lose all reception and the phone freezes. In addition to this my text messages dont send or receive until 24 hours later (which has caused some terrible problems) and when people call they get a msg saying '** is on the phone' when I am in bed asleep- no where NEAR my phone. I have been with VF for 5 years and I think they have gone down hill a lot in the past 6 months- it would be nice if their website would work at least once...and I dont have to wait over an hour on the phone when I am forced to call the 'help' centre. I am going to Telstra when my contract is up in Feb 2011!

My phone often turns itself off and on. Often have to turn it off and on to retrieve the coverage. Phone often just 'hangs up' and I have to dial again. I wonder sometimes if my phone is being tapped as many strange things happen! It's a pain as I do rely on it for work.

I continually drop calls and then can't return calls until i switch off my phone and reset. Safari and data use is very unreliable, sometimes it works other times i need to switch off and restart the phone in order to use safari or else it displays a "no cellular network" message. My friend has the same iphone as I and is with telstra and he always has solid data coverage and has never dropped a call. Next plan will be with them.

3G broadband next to useless in Curtin ACT. Was told over 1 year ago 'we are aware of the signal levels in your area'.
Reception for mobiles at home in Curtin ACT poor consistently.
SMS slow to get through.
Other than that the bills get through ok

We live in the Illawarra and rarely get reception in our house :-) We never have 3G internet and often don't have enough reception to make a call. If I am lucky enough to make a call it drops out. Vodafone keeps on telling me to turn off 3G then turn it on, it is just not good enough.
5129 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is drop outs, day late txt etc at 27 Dec 2010 08:35:09 PM
i have been with vodafone for 15 years. i have an iphone at the mo on a business plan. i thought that my problems in the last year was an out dates iphone. but after reading these stories i have come to realize that this is not the case. for the LAST YEAR or more i have constant drop outs, most about 15 seconds into the call, business phone remember, also bad coverage in my own home and i have lived here for 7 years and untill this time i have never had issues. aswell as having insurance with my contract for my iphone that i pay every month. i have approched the vodafone store several times to hand my phone in to be fixed, but upon requesting a replacement phone for the time mine is getting fixed i was told that it is not policy to give out loan phones. well i expect on a business plane that pays insurence every month that i would not go with out a mobile phone. i need it to run my business. Dont you think i should be offered one since it is a nessecity for any business to be contactable. with all that said, being charged to get my voice mail messages when my phone fails to ring because of their f up and getting charged for a full minute when it drops out almost as soon as i connect to someone is offencive in the least. especially in these financial times. fix it vodafone. and do it soon. time is money and i dont have much of either to dish out to a company that doesnt fix their problems straight away and instead waits till it becomes a media issue. where is current affair when you need them.
5127 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 08:34:50 PM
Cannot receive or make a phonecall at home and many other places where others using different carriers can actually call and receive effortlessly.I have spoken with a vodaphone rep. who advised me to manually change to a 2G setting on my phone for better reception. He told me that they are improving there coverage but couldnt say when.(When I signed up the rep told me that I will not only be getting the benefit of vodaphones coverage but also that of "3"s coverage because they are now combined,(I was stupid enough to believe it). I received an e-mail from him explaining how to do it,however I still have lousy or no reception, constant drop outs and cannot remember when my phone displayed full reception.I was told by him that I must keep details of dropouts, and poor reception,to justify my complaint.

I have spent HOURS on the phone to Vodafone in the last 2 months about the amount of call dropouts and poor coverage with my iphone. Last Saturday, a fellow from Vodafone phoned me and said the problem is a network issue and Vodafone will let me out of the contract if that's what I want. I told him that's what I want. He said I had to phone the store where I bought the phone to organise the disconnection including the return of the iphone handset. I phoned the store and they said only Vodafone deal with this issue and I have to phone Vodafone back. Since then, I have spent HOURS on the phone to Vodafone, on hold yet again. The last I heard was last Monday when Vodafone said they would phone me back in 24 to 72 hours to arrange for my disconnection. That call didn't arrive until today. The phone rang twice. I answered it and as soon as I did, the phone dropped out. What a surprise... not. Then I got an SMS from Vodafone saying they have tried to call me and I didn't answer my phone so phone on 1555 for further queries about my complaint. I phoned 1555 and was on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up. I then phoned their 1300 number and was on hold for another 25 minutes. I hung up.
HOW PATHETIC VODAFONE. NOT ONLY IS THEIR NETWORK TOTAL CRAP... BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TOTALLY, TOTALLY NON-EXISTANT. I am totally, totally sick of Vadafone. And I am totally sick of being on hold to them trying to get my contract cancelled.
I SIGNED UP IN OCTOBER 2010 AND I AM SO OVER VODAFONE!!!

5110 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic & Frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 08:27:58 PM
We live very close to a major highway up here on the Sunshine Coast and we can not get coverage, I have to stand in a corner of our house and hope we get a signal. The most frustrating part is that to do our telephone banking for our franchises (5 in total) we need to enter a code that we get via sms. By the time the message comes through, the password has expired, I can spend over an hour trying to get a bank code that I can enter within the allowed time. Talk about frustrating - will not be renewing with Vodafone - EVER

I live in Eltham, Victoria. About 5 days ago, Vodafone 3g in the centre of town stopped working. Still not working. The signal shows full strength but you can't make a call or send a txt. I discovered the only way to make a call is to turn off 3g on my Iphone and it uses the 2 g Network. Also, I've not been able to send emails via 3G network anywhere for months. They leave my out box but never get to the recipient. Rang Customer service and got disconnected before I could speak to a real person. Something seriously wrong.

5100 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad at 27 Dec 2010 08:25:01 PM
I've had a 24 month contract with vodafone for 18 months. Over this period, I have had regular call drop outs, no reception coverage in metropolitan areas in and around Sydney, late voicemail messages (by up to 3 days), failed text messages almost daily and unreceived messages.
I called Vodafone to see what was going on and after 50 minutes I finally got through to someone in an Indian call centre who said they would transfer me to someone in technical support to check my network coverage. I waited another 35 minutes to be transferred, before giving up since no one took the call.
The second time I called I asked for the payout figure on my account since I was sick to death of all the network issues and I was told that i couldnt cancel my account without paying $600 exit fee despite the fact that the vodafone service was not living up to the services stated in my contract. I am less than impressed by vodafone's breach of contract and denial of any wrong doing and of the unhelpful service I received when calling for assistance.

Recently purchased a wireless USB modem from Dick Smith's. The coverage map on the Vodafone website showed Karratha WA to have coverage, I also checked with the Vodafone Shop and Dick Smiths in Rockingham City Shopping center before purchasing the unit. "GUESS WHAT" it did not work in Karratha and I was forced to purchase a Telstra Modem. I now have a useless Vodafone Modem with unused download that will expire this week.

As of the last 3 weeks I am unable to send messages to my best friend, who is also on the Vodafail network. I am being charged for them and getting delivery reports but she is not recieving them.
SMS messages sometimes take more than 1 day to be delivered. UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I constantly get the connection error when trying to call out, also in the last 3 weeks. EXTREEMLY FRUSTRATING!
Should be able to pick up my phone and call and text when I feel like it.

5096 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is stealing my money at 27 Dec 2010 08:24:25 PM
Vodafone prepaid broadband kept disconnecting/reconnecting me every minute. They charge you 1MB of usage for a re-connection. THEY USED UP ALL MY DATA THAT I PAID FOR. I'm still waiting for a refund. This issue would be effecting so many customers every re-connection rounds up to the nearest MB so if it keeps on reconnecting Vodafone keeps stealing your money. NO WONDER THEY WON'T FIT THEIR NETWORK WITH EVERY RECONNECTION THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY!
WHY DON'T THEY CHARGE IN KB NOT MB. TELSTRA CHARGE IN KB!!! I CAN HANDLE LOOSING 1KB BUT NOT 1MB.

5094 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is grief at 27 Dec 2010 08:23:54 PM
I bought a Vodafone broadband internet, cap 39.99, in June. I had to go through a lot of trouble to return the service package because the coverage in Rockdale NSW was literally 0.
I then bought 3 mobile broadband plan. I was happy with the service till the day 3 merged with Vodafone. Since then I haven't had a day of normal operation.
This is bloody ridiculous. We're living in a first world country yet internet (and thus IT) is far behind some "third world" countries I had the pleasure to know.
I am paying a lot for something I don't get - literally.
In regards with the mobile services, I have 100% cases of undelivered incoming international SMSs, phone calls from people that have never DIALED my number.
Software/hardware glitch? Perhaps... but that's not an excuse.

Never receive voicemails, text messages come through delayed, having to constantly restart my phone to use data, calls constantly drop out, people can never get through to me and their customer service is just as pathetic as the network itself.
I have come to an agreement to cancel my contract with them (6 months left) without a charge, but they want me to pay off the balance of the phone still. I'm reluctant to pay this considering the trouble I have been through.
Funny thing is, I cannot end this issue as it it now impossible to get through and talk to someone.

I've had nothing but trouble with my mobile since I got it. It's already been to the "menders" where the kept it for 2 days & wanted over $200 deposit to use one of their tempory mobiles!! this i declined. Very poor battery life, forever dropping out, or no signal at all. The reception is extremly bad, no one can hear me, very crackly. I'm sick to death with it. I'm off to the "menders" again tomorrow to try & resolve this, as it's still under warrenty. I've never experienced this poor quality in any other mobile before. When the contract is up. I'm taking my services somewhere else. Not happy at all.

Now that I have your attention,
Vodafone is excellent in the field of - appalling...
Honest to god I have spent more than 24 hours of my time to customer service having issues unresolved.
I have missed job interviews, meetings with friends and given my stress levels a good kick start.
Billing issues with the USB internet, poor customer service (so much so that they blamed me for the faulty device), extended periods of time taken to correct errors made on behalf of customer service reps, it goes on and on
I also think the merge with 3 has made vodafone coverage astronomically worse.
People with control need to fix the endless problems that is Vodafone Customer Service.
I wish the people behind this class action all the best.

Vodafone has to be one of the most frustrating companies to deal with and to be a customer of.
Customer "Care"? I've never felt any 'care' over the phone - sitting on hold for an hour was as long as I lasted before giving up to find an email address to air my complaints. That way at least I could communicate and make the most of my time whilst I waited for a response.
My billing appears incorrect and hadn't updated my 'best mate' number so that I could receive free calls, leading to over charging. Then I find out that after being a loyal customer for a number of years that I care not to remember, that if I signed up to day I would be receiving nearly double the value for the same amount of money. It would be nice of vodafone to reward customer loyalty by atleast offering them the latest deals instead of leaving the owness on us to find out what the latest plan value is and request to be changed accross to the new version of the exact same plan. Fortunately, they would let me transfer my plan.
Don't even let me get started on reception. I can't make a phone call from my bedroom. Enough said.
Can't wait until June when my contract expires.

I travel a lot around Queensland and Northern NSW. I was told coverage would be okay but in most instances, my mobile fails regularly about 500-metres outside any city or town centre. Even in Rockhampton Airport, the mobile works in one spot but not in another within the same building... I seriously cannot wait to switch to another more reliable provider when my 24-month plan expires.

The reception is no where as good as Vodafone make it out to be, and I am wishing that I stayed with Telstra, but I am on a 24 month contract so I have to stay with them and put up with their crappy service.

I signed up to vodaphone because i got told it was good. Since i have been with them:
-most of my calls drop out
-i hardly ever have reception
-even if i do have reception, people try to call me alot but it just goes straight through to voice mail
-i signed up to a $49 a month cap and up it to the $99 unlimited a month, and when my bill came it was over $200 i think it was, i rang and told them it was wrong but i still had to pay it. It was suppose to then be fixed but it happened again, and i had to pay a higher bill yet again. It then got fixed but i had to wait until the next month for it to start.
-i cant wait for my contract to end so i can change to a network that actually works.

I have connected 3 x mobile phones and wireless dongles for our sales staff:
- I was told by the Vodafone Business salesman that the phone will automatically connect to the Telstra network when not in range e.g. rural travel. I don't get one ounce of coverage from Bendigo to Mildura on both major highways. I have had to purchase Telstra prepaid phones for my entire team when they travel to rural areas of Vic for SAFETY reasons.
- without fail, when entering both Citylink tunnels calls all calls drop out by firebox 18 (sad that I know this!!) - WITHOUT FAiL
- I live 10kms from Melbourne CBD and cannot get better than "poor" status on the wireless dongles and consistently is forced to connect to EDGE.
- I consistently receive voicemails on my iPhone well after they should have been received.
Bring on October 2011 when we can give them the boot!!!

Most days when I am at work (in the CBD) I get voice mail call backs from VF advising I have one new voice mail. I didn't think much of it at first, but when it started happening on a daily basis I was getting pretty annoyed having my important phone calls being diverted to voice mail due to lack of reception. Not much I could do about this as I guess that's how VF is, and when you ask most people what they know about VF, they will tell you the lack of reception they have. I did not know about this site until this hit the news tonight and wanted to voice out my frustration as well. Also when I am in my house I have zero reception and as I have a work Telstra sim which maintains 100% reception in my house.

I was with 3 and receving nil to 1 bar of coverage in the city. Vodafone contacted me to transfer to a different type of mobile broadband connection, with supposedly better service. I am unable to connect and was told by the tech team (after being hung up on twice) that I was sent an outdated cd to load the program on my computer and that I need to update this via the internet... how can I do this if I don't have internet?!
5070 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Annoying at 27 Dec 2010 08:16:48 PM
I travel for work and have experienced virtually nil reception in Tasmania ( only at the airport ), daydream island, limited at Hamilton island and then that's not even starting in on the places that lack reception in the general Brisbane city area, delayed texts and sending of messages. Also went to Japan and Spain and had issues connecting to associated carriers. I'm sick of only seeing one bar of reception and having to contort myself into weird positions to try and keep that one bar whilst I finish a call.....
5069 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Who else hates Lara???? at 27 Dec 2010 08:16:01 PM
I'm amazed at the decline in standards from Vodafone over the years. I joined 7 years ago on the old 'No Plans' and was always really happy - great customer service, reasonable coverage, good deals, competitive prices, and I used to get a present from them every year for my loyalty. I've since gone on to have capped plans for my phone and mobile broadband in the last 3 years, and don't have too many good things to say about the company anymore.
I get reasonable service on my mobile, but mobile broadband is a bit of a joke. Coverage is VERY limited - I've never had more than 2 bars or 'Poor' service. Not to mention it recently dropped out completely for about a fortnight. Right before exams. Thanks. The same thing happened to several of my friends at the same time.
The worst thing though is the customer service. I've never gotten through to the right person/department straight away when calling, and I've often had to call multiple numbers. Setting up my mobile broadband, I kept getting told the number I had called wasn't correct - despite using the number that was in the setup instruction booklet, or calling the number that the previous operator had told me to call.
Recently trying to upgrade my plan, I actually yelled at an operator. Not intentionally, but I let out a loud, stern "NO!" when the person that I had been transferred to to change the plan attempted to transfer me back to the department I had just been transferred from.
In another instance, when trying to find out what was going on with a mobile broadband error, I spent 20mins on the phone, just to have the operator repeat my problem back at me and tell me that myvodafone.com wasn't working. Which I had also mentioned to him (and which it pretty much never is anyway...)
These things are frustrating, inconvenient, and a waste of all of our time. I don't mind being put on hold or transferred if my problems are going to be fixed! I think vodafone customer service suffers from a severe case of micro-management - no one person ever seems to think the customer's problem or issue is their responsibility!
Grrr vodafone. Grrr.

Live in Perth - several places in the metro area do not have coverage, including friends' houses. I don't mind if remote country areas have bad coverage, but anybody would think that a metro area and and area shown with coverage in their maps should have at least a signal! Called Vodafone about problem, waited 2.5 hours, and was passed between 4 different customer service officers. They refused to allow me to cancel my contract. They merely moved me to a lower plan, saying that they would not allow me to exit my contract freely, because my house had coverage. That's ludicrous - a mobile phone should be able to be used anywhere where coverage has been shown!

I checked for coverage in my area and was told that the area was in the purple 3G network coverage area, but I have nothing but problems with dropouts and bad data speed. When I complained about the service I was receiving I was told that the service was undergoing an upgrade in my area and would improve, that was a joke!Unlike some people I have always received good phone service but will leave Vodaphone for good soon if my internet does not improve. My contract is almost up and a lot of other companies have great deals,I too hate the mighty telstra and will never return to them, think I will try iinet.

Can't view my postpaid bills because website says my number is not registered with them! I've been logging in for one year and now suddenly it doesn't work! Why do I have to pay if I can't even view my bill? Customer service hanged up on me twice, after thirty minutes of being "on hold". I have an iPhone 3GS. Voicemail display service no longer works (used to list my voicemails on iPhone). My voicemails don't come through until at least a few hours later or even days later! Time on voicemail also wrong. I also experience call drop outs even when I may in populated suburbs/areas. I can't always call people - says "call failed" - even though the person I am calling has good reception. At my work, people on certain other networks have reception - not me. I have to quit Vodafone asap!

It takes about a minute just to load the google page! And about 10 minutes to load the HeraldSun homepage which she like. This is the same with any page and half the time she can't get coverage, even in central Melbourne...St Kilda Road!!!! We've rung up customer help, and they say we don't know why it's happening..."maybe you have too many trees around" is one bullshit excuse.

I actually really like Vodafone & think its A great company I know right the coverage Isn't that great sometimes...or whenever its cloudy but It does make up for it with great costumer service(I am aware most of you may not have had this experience but in my extensive experience with Vodafone they have been exceptional) I wouldn't change networks because Vodafone is ok.could be better that's true but everything could hey.I don't mean to undermine anyone's opinions here and I hope you respect my opinion & experience here as I in turn respect yours but disagree with the slamming of Vodafone as a whole.
27 Dec 2010 08:16:57 PM: It's great to hear positive stories and I'm sure there are some happy customers out there. But we know that Vodafone employ an entire customer relations team to write positive reviews and comments about Vodafone all over the place. So any positive comments I view with absolute suspicion.

Vodafone doesn't seem to calculate its customers' phone bill. If you are a vodafone customers, check your phone bill carefully. I know few people (including myself) who received a miscalculated phone bill. I spent about 1 hour to talk to Vodafone and had to argue over 30 minutes. They admitted that it was their fault but they sent me an SMS again that I have to pay miscalculated amount. I had to wait another 45 minutes to talk to Vodafone. This is my bad experience with Vodafone on top of poor quality of phone reception. I switched from Optus to Vodafone because they promised that they will provide a high quality phone receptions/signal.

My partner and I are both with Vodafone and have been with them for the better part of 2 years now. Not only do we get no receptions whereas other mates with other providers have no problems, we receive messages sometimes a day late and same goes for our voice-mail as well. There was an instance for a whole week straight, I was unable to use my phone with no apparent reason. Thinking it may be my phone, I had to contact and speak to multiple departments within Vodafone's so called 'customer service' and after close to 45 minutes of being passed around, I was told to simply 'switch off your phone and let it rest for a while' and the second advise was 'if this still does not work, you may need to bring your phone into vodafone'. So not until I heard from our unhappy and dissatisfied customers complain did I realize it wasn't a hand-set issue but Vodafone's non-existent network!!! Bring on the class action I say.

I couldn't agree more with all the comments I am reading. Problems I (and many of you face)
1. Reception dropping out
2. Phone not ringing and going straight to message bank, even when my phone tells me that I have full coverage
3. Text and MMS messages not getting through
4. When I dial a number, nothing happens for a while, then if I'm lucky, the call goes through - if not, just goes back to the screen before I dialed the numebr (this has happened on multiple phones)
5. Every time I speak with Vodafone about these issues, they tell me it's a problem with the telephone rather than their network
Why am I still with Vodafone, you ask? I too, ask myself this very question.

I bought Vodafone Mobile Broadband, prepaid 12G, valid for 1 year. I thought this would meet my needs well.
But I have had trouble getting an adequate signal even in cities. I had trouble in suburban Perth, in Melbourne CBD and suburbs, and in my home in the Wollongong area. In Brisbane suburbs it works - slowly. Not too bad in some Southern Sydney suburbs. In Blackburn, Melbourne I spent an hour on the phone trying to get help and eventually got a signal. (The agent was helpful.)
Overall, the signal strength often seems quite poor, even in cities. I have probably wasted the money I spent on Vodafone. To be fair, in the first week of problems they gave me the option of my money back, but I thought it would surely work well in other cities. Mostly it didn't. So I had to subscribe to Telstra mobile Broadband on a more expensive 2-year contract to be sure of coverage.
I would rather have just had Vodafone, which would have been adequate for my mobile broadband needs, but with my work, I need a reliable connection.

I did complain about the reception about a year ago and was told it was my iPhone 3Gs and nothing to do with their poor reception and to reset my phone etc. If I am in a supermarket reception drops out, also in any other store I have to walk out to talk on the phone. If I am at work I have no reception at all.Hate to have someone trying to contact me urgently especially from my children's school. Oh I was also told that when Vodafone took over 3 that reception would improve, and that was meant to happen last May. They really need to stop talking crap.
5022 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Fines for Vodafone thanks! at 27 Dec 2010 08:07:19 PM
I have been getting my voicemails a day late since June 2009. Lucky they weren't and aren't real important messages. Also while living in St Kilda, Melbourne, a friend of mine who lived a kilometre away sent 3 texts to me on a saturday afternoon which I got the next morning.
Now living in the outer suburbs of Perth, Mandurah, and the coverage is PATHETIC!
Got a new Samsung Tablet with them as well, D'Oh! Well trying to get the sim activated was a nightmare. After 6 phone calls over 48 hours it finally got activated.

5017 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Big fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:06:38 PM
Vodafone out and out lies about its coverage in the ACT. Its coverage maps indicate that both its internet and phone coverage is full and complete for Kambah - even when zoommed right in to target locations. However when I look at my phone at those locations I have zero connectivity. I am unable to receive calls in my house and am unable to access the internet as their website indicates.
Prior to my current phone when I contacted Vodafone about this issue I was told that the maps weren't completely accurate and that I would have to manually change my connection to GSM if I wanted to continue to receive calls. No, no hope for internet connection. As a cop out from another vodafone staff member I was told that the blackberry storm wasn't completely 3g compatible, I always wonder what blackberry would think if they heard vodafone saying that.
On the upside - a super old Nokia which doesnt have 3g access on it works fine.

I am not with voda any more, the phone coverage was inadequate, I told them mant times that the call drops out, they said we are making improvment, but it was still the same. The service got worst, their customer service was always busy and long wait for support. I wanted compensation for the bad service, that did not happen, so I refused to pay my bill, so they put me on bad credit, I did pay up , but I paid $300 to much, and they still have not returned the 300 to me.I work for a carrier, sometimes I feel like pulling the plug and thus making their network go down completetly, but I don't want toget into trouble.

it's simple bad coverage, calls dropping out, since the merger begun there seem to be to many users on the same network. They need to upgrade the network to cope with the extra demand. The merger created and overload on the network.

I was at Coles in Vermont this afternoon, tried to call home and has no signal at all, while another woman talking on her mobile. I asked her what carrier she's with, she said Optus and she show me her phone with full reception. Vodafone is a joke.
5001 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is irritating!! at 27 Dec 2010 08:01:43 PM
I was trying to ignore it but I find out later that MMS that are sent to me can either arrive up to 12 hours late or not at all, but other people that they are sent to receive them. I also find that calls often drop out even though I am stationary when on these calls. When I am not using my home wireless internet the vodafone 'internet' is soooooo slow. I moved from 3 to vodafone because my 3 contract was up and the only way I could get an iphone 4 without having to wait for ages was from vodafone and then the iphone was sent to me. I figured that as 3 and vodafone were merging that they might be a good company to deal with - unfounded optimism! I have had a heap of trouble with Telstra too when trying to change my husband's mobile from business plan to a private cap but have now solved that. I think that all of the major telcos are an absolute disgrace as they don't have customer service and they don't care. They must be making a heap of profit and so figure that they don't have to try to offer a service to their customers. I think if I could I would ditch vodafone and go to telstra as they now have competitive caps and heaps better network coverage but of course they don't offer customer service.
29 Dec 2010 08:01:04 PM: i did ditch my contracts my add is posted after yours and i went to the telecommunications ombudsmand they can really help you. look them up in the white pages.towards the front where they have complaints cheers. im now with telstra and will never change again.

i am a communications broker. I was rated the 4th best Vodafone Business Consultant in Australia just over a year ago. my estimate is that I received a 50% complaint rate from signed customers although I tried hard to make sure that I checked the coverage maps against the business geographical presence. it put so much pressure on me i could no longer sell the product. I note Mr. Crews comments about future improved coverage. what a load of crap. heard it EXACTLY the same 2 years ago. i even sold the product on future promised improvements that never eventuated. anyone that doesn't believe Vodafones lack of reception should try the Coffs Harbour and Newcastle area to see how serious this co. takes our country. why else would they have a kiwi in charge? they're not serious.
27 Dec 2010 08:17:19 PM: p.s. co with the lowest churn rate in australia is Trinity Telecom. australian owned using optus or telstra network NO VODAFONE. your choice. contract or no contract. your choice. good for home residential as well. FYI

i live in hobart yet i cant get any reception if i travel outside a 10km radius of the main city. i work as a security guard and need my phone as a lifeline and after one particular incident while working at a outdoor music concert at the hobart botanical gardens found i could not get reception while making an emergency 000 call. I contacted vodafone and told of my circumstances, i even sent them a map of hobart and shaded the areas where vodafone does not provide reception and asked them to release me from my contract in which they refused to do.

Bad reception at home and at work. I am currently moving my entire corporate plan to Telstra as their service actually works!
Secondly all mobile contracts whether data or both voice and data should be limited to a maximum of 12 months.
Thanks for the opportunity to voice my pain.

4994 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is a MAJOR fail at 27 Dec 2010 07:59:07 PM
My house, situated on top of a hill, is quite close to the nearest vodafone tower, so it would be logical to think that reception would be adequate, if not good? Especially when the vodafone site itself says that the area has good reception.
Big mistake.
Since the day I got my prepaid mobile broadband USB about a year ago, the coverage has been terrible, the reception is low quality and constantly drops out. Not to mention the fact that sometimes the USB decides that, even though it apparently has coverage, it doesn't actually want to connect to the internet.
Also, it doesn't work at all in half of the house and magically works if i hold it a foot in the air, rather than being on something the height of say, a desk.

Not only do I suffer the drop outs and the lack of coverage, but all of a sudden over the last two months my bills(I am on 79.95 plan) have tripled!!! With no extra usage from me. Trying to get to the bottom of this has been a nightmare (multiple calls to call centre and hung up on when they cant answer my questions) as they tell me "my usage has increased" ...where? I ask....no answer...."please wait I am checking", Oh you are making calls during the peak times...wtf!!!

No coverage foe approx 3 months in my area, Vodafone always going to fix, then contacted the Tele Ombudsmen vodafone released me from my 3 contracts. took 2 months and 4 phone calls from me to send back my phones now getting demand letters for outstanding contracts for $ 2405.69. Lost money due to business calls not being able to get through to me and 1/2 way through contracts therefore I lost because I had to send phones back.

4984 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is REALLY REALLY FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 07:56:04 PM
I am soooooooooooo over my network dropping out and calls just ending. It happens at least 80% of the time i make a call. It is pathetic really and i've had a gutfull. I also get strange noises during my long distance calls to mobiles. Also, the signal strength is really really poor. As soon as you get about 10 min out of town it starts to fade.
I'm going to be dumping Vodafone as soon as i get the chance.

I was with vodafone a few years ago and i had nothing but poor reception and the customer service don't get me started on that. Rude and disgusting manners they changed my plan without my permission and they would not change it back so i said fine you no longer get my business and i left them that day. Vodafone is the worst Telco company to date. The sooner they go out of business the better Australians will be better off.
4973 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100% failure at 27 Dec 2010 07:52:28 PM
As I am typing this - I am in between many dropouts - Dropping out constantly for weeks - I rang the customer services - they said to me that there is nothing wrong with their reception and network status - I don't believe them at all - because some days they behave but mostly every night - it drops out too many times - I am losing patience - but the problem is if i go with another service provider - I have to pay all over again for a different modem and as well set up fee - it sucks!!!
4972 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:52:22 PM
Ive been with Vodafone for nearly 10 years, for some reason the last 18 months the service has been absolutely rubbish. I live 10 mins out of Hobart and my phone is constantly on 1 bar or no service at all. I don't even bother trying to send an MMS anymore, so sick of seeing the exclamation mark that tells me to try again, (what so it's going to send it next time!) My partner had crossed over from Telstra because of the poor contract she was stuck in and the shocking PR. We thought it would be a good chance to have free Vodafone to Vodafone calls but it's proven to be irrelevent because of the network coverage. We had to purchase a pre paid Telstra sim and get the phone unlocked for when we travel anywhere within in the state, just in case of an emergency.
27 Dec 2010 08:14:23 PM: Mate I have the same dramas - I travel around the state for work and have to carry a prepaid Telstra handset with a call divert from my iPhone incase I have to go to the west coast or to Orford, etc. Dodges Ferry I get nothing unless I'm outside the servo, heading to the West Coast I drop out not even 5 mins out of New Norfolk and about the same out of Sorell when I'm going to the East Coast. Your problems with the Botanical Gardens are common with all network providers, unfortunately. Apparently if you have no service you can still make 000 calls - I was told this at a St John first aid course.
I thought it was just me that was having problems because my handsets get knocked about a bit but this website has opened my eyes.
