26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I'm in Narara, near Gosford. Was assured by the local Vodafone spruikers that this area was OK. Four bars (smug smile). Well, I'm lucky to get one bar on a good day. Are the Voda boffins doing anything about this?

In northern nsw, and a week ago the lines went down for more than 12 hours!! Lastnight while I was on the phone to my partner (we're in a long term relationship which atm is long distance) the call dropped out. What am I meant to do? I can't message him and tell him what happened cause I don't have service! It was down for more than two hours. Just not happy. I was with 3 for two years with no problems. I figured since they merged, vodafail would be better. I was wrong. Also I have a long drive to my family and I don't get service for 90% of the trip. Where I did with 3. Aweful!!!!

You disappoint me with your endless call drop-outs, regular lack of coverage/service, your capacity to overcharge me, your continually broken promises, your ridiculous excuses and your magical Indian call centres.

Take ownership of your failures and quit it with the excuses.

When i called them this indian guy told me he will take the money out of my account, no matter what Im saying..... Anyways did u solve the problem????
23 Nov 2011 11:04:08 PM: Excatly like you, i experienced overcharge for 215 dollars for the over use of data. But now, i change the company to Hello Mobile, it cost me only $15 per month for the same useage like before. It is very hard to get the money back .

19929 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is useless at 9 Nov 2011 08:06:11 AM
Yesterday I was out of credit so I called to recharge. Vodafone were having technical difficulties so I couldn't recharge over the phone. I tried to recharge online; still couldn't recharge. On my way home from work, there was an incident on the train line (a tree fell on track and broke cable) and the train I was on got stranded stations away from my house. Normally I would have called a cab but I had no phone credit and only $5 cash on me. My next option was to look up a map and nearest bus routes on my phone, but alas NO CREDIT=NO INTERNET BROWSING. There were no ATMs or shops nearby so I had to walk to the next train station in the rain by following the train tracks so I could contact someone to come and pick me up. Thanks Vodafone. Today after I was finally able to recharge, the internet browsing would work for a second, drop out, not work at all for 10 minutes, work for a second, then drop out again. I think I'll be changing providers.

19925 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100% consistent in their failure at 8 Nov 2011 08:25:06 PM
Have had connection proes since day 1 of changing to vodafail back in Aug '10. I live in the St George area in metropolitan Sydney yet have next to NO service at home. If I make/take a call I have to use handsfree & leave my phone static on a table to maintain reception throughout. And 100%, that's right 100% of my calls that last longer than 5mins dropout! And tonight - no service whatsoever - been trying to call interstate family for the past 3hrs and nada, zippo, zilch - nothing!! So over it! And I have 9 months to go on my contract!
8 Nov 2011 08:59:30 PM: You can get out of your contract early and without a penalty if Vodafone isn't providing the service that you signed up for. File a complaint by following the steps on the 'how to complain' page. You might have to end up going through the TIO but complain first to vodafone. Alternatively you can wade it out although that can be painful. Goodluck!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
9 Nov 2011 08:33:05 AM: Hey there, this advice is perfect for you, after talking with the TIO the service absolutely must be available at the home address you have provided to the company, if not it is a breach of contract and you can cancel without incurring fees.

19924 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unable to activate a SIM card at 8 Nov 2011 05:31:32 PM
I was on the verge of leaving the Vodafail network, when my 24 month contract finally expired. However I was lured back to the dark side by one of their "retention" officers who desperately offered a "loyalty" bonus to stay with the network in return for an upgraded phone and plan. Reluctantly, I accepted, as the task of switching networks, with all its hassle was too much to bear.
So after paying the $10 delivery fee, I waited and waited for my new iPhone to arrive. .. and 14 days later it finally did! Granted, they are a bit overwhelmed with iphone 4S issues at the moment...
Next step activating my SIM- I activated it Sunday, and was warned it would take 24 hours.
I called the helpdesk on Monday night, and was told it would be activated by midnight.
I called again Tuesday morning to be told I needed to reactivate it again - by this time I had bought a hard case and the Sim was not accessable! After struggling to remove the hardcase of my new phone, I reactivated the SIM for a SECOND time, and wait once again for Vodafail to provide service...

Purchased a Nokia X6 through vodafone, nothing but problems. Phone has now been returned 3 times, even gave me a new phone the 1st time, but still freezes and won't send text. Ringing customer care only fobs you to another department, left holding at tech support for 30 minutes, still no reply. This has been 3 months of constant calls to Vodafone still no resolution and no phone. I did buy a cheap $24.00 phone while X6 was being fixed and it works better than my so called smart phone. Yeah!!! Told by tech support today to return phone to store and get new phone as there are issues with this one, Not likely been sent for repair again!! This phone is 7 months old and still under warranty. NOT HAPPY VODAFONE!

Service is worse in the last 4 weeks. 20 "CALL FAILED" and dropped calls in a row, every single phone call drops out!!!!.....on two different handsets and numbers....SMS never arrive or delayed by hours.....full signal 3G yet unable to download data and calls diverted to call catcher despite full signal....all this in metropolitan Sydney....IT IS GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER.....resolution involved customer service going on about my handset (there are 2), my SIM (there are 2) or that my area doesn't seem to have any problems. Reducing my monthly spend as a gesture of goodwill was in fact downgrading my plan with less benefits.....a smokescreen!!........I'M LEAVING

At numerous stages both yesterday and today, phone calls have been unsuccessful to connect, dropped out etc. I stood in front of an ATM for 25 minutes trying to get sufficient data coverage to transfer some money. Vodafone you are failing dismally in convincing me to stay with you as a service provider when my contract ends in 4 months. On an iPhone 4, your '850 network' still appears to suck.

Ordered a white Samsung Galaxy II on 18 September 2011. Order was processed but no phone arrived. After a week plus called Vodaphone who advised that there was a delay with the phone. Called customer service (CS)a number of times since and on 20 October (verbally and in writing) was told that the phone was already despatched to AAE but CS had not received a consignment number. Yet another call to CS last week and was told that no phone was actually despatched as there were none available and CS did not know when they would be available. At no stage has Vodaphone sent any updates to advise on delays. All contact had to be initiated by us and seven weeks later we still have no idea when the phone will arrive. This is a disgrace and any organisation that conducts itself this way deserves to fail. We understood that Vodaphone was trying to rebuild its customer base - no wonder it has to if this behaviour is any indication. If you are considering Vodaphone as a provider then be warned - you are signing up for a provider that does not care about its customers and treats them accordingly.
7 Nov 2011 09:08:33 AM: I had the same issue with my 4S. I ended up cancelling the order after long debate and got it through the store. Much painless.

If you have tried resolution of the problem with 1555 without success, the next step is the TIO, simple on line form.

19870 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No 3g internet reception at 5 Nov 2011 07:29:04 AM
I am in Rosebery (NSW). I have not been able to access the internet on my phone for two days. I have tried to call 1555 (their Customer Support number) but after the prompts, the call is disconnected. I'm assuming it is because they are being flooded with calls and have either discconnected the number or can not cope with the amount of enquiries. Not happy.

Another thing to share - I called them last week (end of October 2011) and asked them when my contract expired. They claimed that they couldn't tell me! LOL. My guess is they know people are wanting to leave the network, so they are have instructed their staff not to provide that information. I went into a store the next day and was told it expires in March 2011, so I'm counting down until I move to Telstra.
5 Nov 2011 01:25:19 PM: Did you mean to say March 2012?

If so not long now, if not then off you go!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
5 Nov 2011 08:50:49 PM: Yes I meant March 2012. My mistake. I probably made the error in wishful thinking!
6 Nov 2011 05:45:32 AM: Ahhhh......I thought it was, a wishful thinking typo!

Word of caution, you may think the contract is over in March but it is a rolling contract. Around January you may have an offer in the post of something like the last or first 3 months of the old/new contract free, or perhaps a new phone, but you have to contact VF cancellations team with the pain of 1555 to cancel the contract.

You will be offered further incentives to keep you to stay and the promise of jam tomorrow regarding their network capabilities.

Refuse, politely, advise VF you wish to cancel, make sure you record the name and CSR id, date and time of call and most importantly cancellation of any direct debits with VF. Ask for the cancellation confirmation via e mail (they will refuse that one!) or text, something to record the cancellation has happened.

Some customers (me included) have found they have been receiving direct debits from VF for months after the cancellation, eventually I had to use the TIO to get them to stop and refund the monies taken.

Good luck with your new provider next March!

No data coverage in the Sydney CBD again, thanks vodafail. I wonder how much data I'd use each billing cycle if you didn't only load 50% of a site before falling over. The amount of times I have to refresh must mean I cumulatively use more data than I would if your network wasn't pathetic.

I send an enquiry through their website about my new service with Vodafone. Its really frustrating to have this kind of automatic response in RED COLOUR. They really have problem on their network that's why I complain. I was expecting they would be apologetic for that and not being rude with their RED writing. Its a disgusting level of customer service.

Tried to recharge my vodafone and the web page rejected my credit card. This card is used for my vodafone bill pay. Tried again by phone - same problem.
After about 20 mins got on to a helpful chap from Mombai who advised that their credit card payment system had failed!!
Gave me an extension on the recharge date and asked me to try again in 24 hours.

Vodafail the sooner you fall the better Australia will be. You've no consideration for the Australian consumer. You charge for service you can't provide and you don't compensate. The sooner the industry ombudsman needs to step in & remove your licence until you can deliver what you advertise. You say your network has been upgraded but your resolution team says otherwise....bit like your customer service hotline....transfer to many departments hoping we give up....you totally under estimate the Australian consumer

Vodafone is so useless they cannot check their call logs or phone logs. Instead they decide to run in circles hundreds of times. They never call back. They provide more than poor service. Wait times are ridiculous. Customer service team barely speaks english. If I could influence anyone who I havent already influenced to not go with Vodafone, I would influence everyone on the planet. Vodafone = ONE HUGE FAIL AS A COMPANY.

I am in Chatswood. I use iPhone 3GS. I've just finished my 2 long and painful year contract with Vodafone. Switched to Telstra prepaid. Telstra is unbelievably reliable. 3G download speed at least 3 times faster. Less battery consumption. With Vodafone I had to turn off 3G and use Edge to stay connected online to the end of my contract. I did not feel or see Vodafone network improve as they claim on all sorts of media.
2 Nov 2011 03:45:21 PM: enjoy the diff i just had a fool ask me if i would like a new 4gs. said no & he tried to sell me something still said no i have a few months to go need to work out what i would like. the call dropped out (normal) i just hope a new phone isnt on my door step in the next few days. sorry this is vf they cant get anything right should be safe.

19832 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Can I get my money back please?! at 29 Oct 2011 02:49:50 PM
I took out a mobile broadband a couple of years ago. Having not used it in months I decided to cancel my contract and pay for whatever was remaining. After a horrid phone call where customer service was trying to sell me other products and trying to have me keep the product I no longer wanted, I finally thought I was rid of Vodafone once and for all. 4 months passed before I actually noticed on my bank statements that I was STILL being charged for the service I had cancelled! I called back again to have this problem rectified and this time was told the money would be credited within 3 weeks! So 6 weeks later, I call back as no money has been credited to my account and was told "oh yeah, we didn't seem to have the right bank details so we couldn't send you the money" This is the same account they were taking money from! So had I not called or realised what was happening, I may not have ever seem my money again! I will now wait and see if my account is credited by the end of the week. I am not holding my breath!

19816 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MASSIVE FAIL at 27 Oct 2011 03:13:20 PM
Hey guys, this is a copy of my complaint email to Vodafone, to which I haven't yet received a reply of course.

My complaint:

On Wednesday the 26th of October I wished to call the Vodafone help line (Lara) for assistance with my recently purchased "Pocket Wifi" device. Since my own mobile phone provider (not Vodafone) does not allow for calls to 13,15,1800 numbers, I inserted the Vodafone sim from the pocket wifi and dialled 1555. This was unsuccessful.

I then proceeded to call Sydney's head office on (02) 9415 7000, since that was the only number available for me to dial. After speaking to the operator for a short time she put me through to a call center; I assume from the heavy delay in our conversation, and by the representative's accent, he was somewhere in India/Pakistan. Initially, the person seemed keen to help me, and I was happy with his effort...though it was quite difficult for us to understand each other's English.

A very, very, VERY long story cut extremely short:

I stayed on the phone for 2 hours. During this time I spoke to 16 (that's SIX-TEEN) different people. SIXTEEN PEOPLE. The line dropped out twice, I was hung-up on after holding for 12 minutes for one operator, and even hung-up on by the thirteenth Vodafone employee, after I raised my voice to her when she asked me to verify (for the THIRTEENTH time remember!) who I was and my date of birth etc.

Finally I spoke to yet another man in an overseas call-centre, who told me all I had to do to have my faulty device replaced was to take it into a Vodafone shop. This seems simple enough, but seeing as I bought it online, I thought it was best to check before simply turning up in a shop I'd never been to before and demanding they replace my product.

So it took 16 employees 2 hours to tell me this.

Then today, the 27th of October, I visited Bondi Junction Westfield shopping-centre. The first Vodafone store I went to told me they were "too small" to help me, and had no replacement products. They advised me to go downstairs to a "3 Mobile" shop where I'd be able to talk to Vodafone workers.

I did this, and after waiting 23 minutes to be attended to, finally thought I was getting somewhere. The young man working in the shop was quite helpful and said he'd replace my faulty pocket wifi. Just when I thought this whole ordeal was over however, he informed me that they didn't have any in stock. "No problem", I said. "Just keep my details and let me know when you get some in."
To which he replied, "We're closing in two weeks, no point."

So now, on my day off from work due to sickness, I'm sitting in Mc Donalds in Kings Cross: in order to use the free Wifi: in order to complain about the fact that I have no internet.

If I don't receive at least an adequate reply, from someone who speaks English as a first language (or at all), I will destroy my product with a claw-hammer, and avoid using any Vodafone-related product 'til my dying day.

Regards and terrible wishes,

Ben.
28 Oct 2011 10:00:17 AM: Adequate reply? Good luck! Keep that claw-hammer handy.

Usually I can bare the fact that Vodafone lags two days in handing out information of my "current" credit balance, but in the past few days they have pushed it too far and have increased the period to 5 days. What's even worse is that when I go onto MyVodafone or get the text or ring the Vodafone account balance they still insist that the information is only at maximum 24 hours! I WANT MY REAL ACCOUNT BALANCE ON THE SPOT! How come Telstra can do this and Vodafone can't, it can't be THAT hard!

I dont know if any of you have a similar story, but with Vodafone (Vodafail) i wont' be surprised if others have the same story. But to cut long story short
For last 4 months Vodafone is sending me warnings that my account is overdue. When i tried to call vodafone several times to clarify the issue and prove that Vodafone is deducting payments from my Credit card and i have proof of that (SMS messages, Credit card account, bank confirmation trasnaction numbers and Vodafone "Payments recieved" emails !!) so what is happening? please someone tell me, when i try to call their billing team, i get answer from their call center in India and the guy on the phone says "Your account is overdue" and I tell him then who is collecting the money? It is going to a vodafone account, and he answers "Your account is overdue"... after all this is Vodafail the company that seems to be run by monkeys. Today i had enough and i lodged a complaint to the Obudsman. I hope that this company will loose its license to provide service in Australia, I am not sure how many more customers are getting ripped off here!!
27 Oct 2011 11:02:22 AM: as hard as it sounds we do need to VF to keep their lic if they loose it we will start to pay more for our services. with telstra & optus controlling the market it will be as bad as supermarket & we all know what they have done to fuel.

For how long the customer support will continue to feed with useless statements. It's been 3 weeks my broadband traffic is not exceeding 3KBps. 28 minutes of connection and 3MB of traffic.

I called the support. The only thing they keep saying is that the coverage is good in your area - it's 3G.
There are times I want to yell at them. It's just they have been trained with the same c**p.

It's like saying that you have a large pipe. What's in it to me if it is large or narrow. IT IS EMPTY!!!!

We are not stupid, Vodafone!!!
Simply install higher capacity antennas or allocate larger quota per tower.

Dear Vodafail, can you please convince this to them?
Thanks.
27 Oct 2011 01:16:18 PM: Earlier in the year we submitted the Vodafail Report to Vodafone detailing all the problems and since then they have responded by announcing upgrades to many of their towers and systems. The problems are still ongoing for many people and by posting here and on Vodafone's facebook/twitter pages, you are letting them know the problems still exist.

19800 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total at 26 Oct 2011 01:26:42 PM
I called to cancel our contract with Vodafone after finally getting fed up with coverage issues all around Sydney, particularly in the lower blue mountains and after losing my 2nd $10,000 contract for work due to voicemails being delayed over a week...

First Call: July 2011
Spoke to lady in call centre (name withheld) regarding cancellation. Long story short, she will send out some bags for the current iPhone handsets to be retrieved and when they are received at their centre, they will waive the early termination payment and send us a bill for what is left owing.

What happened... Very little, in fact NOTHING!. No bags sent out. Next month... another bill.!!

Second Call: October 19th

Called to remind them about bag and query why it was sent to NRG debt collectors with an amount we have no record of. No real sense made here and my wife hung up after 45mins of going no where.

Third Call: October 26th

Called to as about what was going on and put in a new request for the bags. guy was helpful. He put through the order for the bags and said they will arrive in 5 days or so. GREAT. Asked him what to do about NRG, "Just call them and tell them about our arrangement." No problem.

Called NRG... they are just interested in getting their money and said that we need to call Vodafone regarding any amounts that have been revised.

Called Vodafone back to get the revised amount after the phones get sent back and to get the account back from NRG.
Basic customer service could not help so tx me to other dept.
He said that the account was sent to NRG in August, a month after I asked for the contract to be cancelled. When I asked about the other $1000 added on the NRG bill, he said some was commission and some was a early termination payment??? I said that it was waived and he said OK.

I asked him to pull the account from NRG and to forward me the amount left outstanding. He cant do that until he gets the phones back. So when/if the bags get here, we will see.

Live usage detail on Vodafail website is a big joke. At the time I wrote this (25/10), I checked MY Account section on Vodafail website & guess what? Only see usage detail up to 20/10 which is 5 days ago. Vodafail states clearly on their site that it should be up to 1 date old only. In my case, it's 5 days old huh?

Damn you Vodafail. For now I am stuck with you cursed company cause all my family members are with 3 (need to call them for free).
26 Oct 2011 12:46:26 PM: And this lag has been like that for months - particularly handy near the end of a useage period.
1 Nov 2011 04:57:48 PM: I had the same problem, I having been using vodafone for 6months and used to get instant update on usage if though they say 24hrs. For the few weeks, the usage update information was lagging by atleast 5 days without my knowledge. Only to get more than $200 for a $49. When I checked my usage the balance was $15 above the allowance and only to be shocked with the bill.
4 Nov 2011 10:04:37 AM: Right there with you. Used 3 for almost 2 years with no problems as I could always check balance online. 2 months with Vodafone now. This month, bill was DOUBLE what it usually is. $132 two days ago after end of billing period. Today it shows $154! Called Vodafone and was told "sorry our system is down and I can't check your billing". 2 days ago when I first called to question teh $132 bill I was told that I went over my cap for internet mid month. As I was unable to check online - since they're 5 days behind - I had no clue. Hate vodafone and want to go back to 3!

Could this explain everyones excessive bills, they change your connection to international roaming / calls .... who knows.

I am currently trying to transfer my mobile number from my prepaid account to my new postpaid account. I thought this would be very simple as both accounts are with Vodafone. I just spoke with a call centre worker and it was so frustrating. He had a strong accent so I had to keep asking him to repeat himself, plus he couldn't understand me and kept asking me to repeat myself, then he said the line was bad and he couldn't hear me (I was calling from my Vodafone mobile!!!)

After a while, he told me that the account had been transferred from prepaid to postpaid, but the way he phrased it made me think that he had just converted my prepaid account into a postpaid account, rather than transferring my mobile number to my existing postpaid account. The call cut out before I could clarify this with him.

I am really frustrated - I understand that Vodafone uses foreign call centres to keep costs down, but onshore centres would be so much better. The most important thing you want out of a call centre is ease of communication between the call centre employee and the client - onshore centres would help with this.
24 Oct 2011 12:25:57 AM: Hopefully it gets sorted out soon! Vodafone does have some staff in Australia, mainly their social media support team and their 'resolutions' team. The latter of which you might get to speak to you when try and cancel your contract. Unfortunately for almost everything else you will reach a foreign call centre.

I just got my iphone 4s last friday. And i was informed that it will take max 3 hrs to activate my connection. So im very exited went home set up d itunes and called the vodafone to activate my sim. Theres no one to talk but computer asking for the sim number etc. So i provided what they need. Here comes saturday, i waited till 12nn no activation was made. Called the customer care took 46mins and still my sim not activated. Called again at 2pm took me about 30mins wait to talk to someone. Still ask me to wait for couple of hrs to activate my sim. Called again at 4pm the computer said they will call me after 30 mins. Called again at 7pm finally i talk to someone again and they told me that the activation dept is not opening until monday. Now sunday morning i got the call from vadafone (the 30 mins wait they said from sat) and they said vodafone is actually experiencing technical diff. (oviously!)
Now my concern is this. How can i use my phone when they cant activate it. Why did they disconnect my old line when they cant give me new one. What if ders emergency call from overseas that im not receiving. Its been already 3days i cant use my number.
I just want to return this iphone 4s and just void the contract and give back phone line from 3.

Many thanks

Requested 3G modem stick for coverage in my area (900Mhz) but was sold a 2100Mhz modem, that takes me through GPRS 2G network. The stick was purchased today, and i phoned the store back this afternoon, and was told they don't have 3G 900Mhz modems. According to the coverage map's page, all regional area's (including where i live) uses the 900Mhz frequency (Iluka, NSW).
I was told because of the store's policy, i will have to take the matter up with Vodaphone Customer Care, my response was that i will be back to pay the store a visit tomorrow.

My Internet and phone calls keep dropping out so I have to keep cAlling customer service and be put on hold for hours then they tell me my bills over one thousand dollars when it only rose so high because I have to keep recalling and reconnecting to the net my phone freezes also and they do nothing to help just put on some random from overseas who tells me Theres nothing they can do
I will never ever ever make the mistake of getting myself in a vodafone contract again.

19744 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is reception-less at 21 Oct 2011 01:01:56 PM
Same position I was at the start of the year. Very poor coverage and my phone always seems to be 'searching' for signal which is can never find. I have to turn my phone off and on again. I got a new SIM card from Vodafaila and it hasn't helped at all.

I then went to pay my bill today which pains me as I'm paying for a rubbish service adn was told that a 1.1% surcharge has been put on - why are they charging this on normal transactions. Not happy.

19742 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL!! at 21 Oct 2011 12:28:38 PM
Have been with vodafone for years and with a hesitation took another contract with them due to loyalty. When I first started using vodafone they were the best provider on the market and coverage was second to no other company. Customer service is still of an exceptional level within vodafone and for that they should be proud...mind you, someone has to hear the heat and anger of complaints and unfortunately that is your customer care staff and they deserve a payrise for patience!!
My screen again displays NO SERVICE...this is an ongoing issue and as for paying an extra amount of money for internet usage I shouldnt bother because I can never get coverage!! Which is in itself infuriating since I purchased a top of the line phone via Vodafone contract so I could have the internet/work in my pocket...HA!!! Epic Fail!!!
When sharing my frustration my local vodafone store told me that it was the handset creating the service issue....strange because the HTC Desire is a vodafone promoted phone!! Another Epic Fail and frustrating point!!
Im close to certain that my phone would have network coverage if it were necessary to text me a payment reminder, actually...it does because I always get reminders, why you ask??? I have no problem paying for a service but it leaves a real bitter taste in my mouth when I have to pay vodafail $79 a month for no service other than apologetic custormer service, so they wait :(

19737 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is So fail they've lost a loyal customer (>10 years) at 20 Oct 2011 07:39:28 PM
20 Oct 2011 07:55:06 PM: Don't forget to regularly back-up the data on your new smart phone. Loyal customer fail...... They ALWAYS wipe phone's memory before reloading firmware. You are advised ALWAYS to back-up your personal data before handing phone in for service. Again, Loyal Customer Fail.......
23 Oct 2011 01:55:20 PM: Yes, loyal customer fail indeed. ***bang forehead on wall***

I attribute my lack of sense on this occasion to inexperience (I've never had to get a phone serviced before, and am not familiar with how things are ALWAYS done), naivety (assuming that an $800 smartphone would be treated carefully and as belonging to me), and haste (I was in a hurry and did not read all the fine print on the paperwork).

That said, this is what I would have liked Vodafone to have done:
1. For their sales person in the store to have said "Please back up your phone data" before taking my phone in for servicing. I could have done it on the spot, although I would have needed their help with a replacement battery because the reason I was sending it for service was that the charging socket was broken and the battery had run flat.
2. For the service centre to have called and had a discussion with me before replacing my phone with a refurbished one.
3. Provided a simple way of obtaining the proof of purchase that didn't require 2 store visits + multiple phone calls & online requests for help.

19734 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is wireless broadband at 20 Oct 2011 06:15:41 PM
I can't keep a constant connection it keeps dropping out.
I've been told Vodafone have some tower issues but keep telling me the problem is my end but if I drive to another area and connect to a different tower i have no problems. Please just fix it or i'll have to change carriers.
