26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

18577 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTRA SUPER STRENGTH FAIL at 30 Jun 2011 01:53:12 PM
1) - I work in the middle of Sydney city and get no mobile reception at work - at all, ever! I was advised by Vodafone that the building is a 'black spot' and this will never be resolved
2) - After returning from a short trip overseas (3 weeks) I was greeted with a $600 phone bill. After 6 emails and 10 hours on the phone Ive had no resolution to the overcharges and data roaming charges billed (which was never activated. Upon non receipt of payment for incorrect charges, Vodafone decided to activate call barring on my phone without any notification. After contacting Vodafone to re-activate the service I was advised that it would not be activated until the bill was paid. After explaining the situation in relation to incorrect billing, I was told "to bad" and that bill had to be paid.
In good faith I paid $300 off the bill believing this to be the amount that should have been charged initially. It took me 3 days to get my phone "back online" leaving several freinds and family quite worried about me.
3)- My 3 subsequent bills have also been charged in error with data roaming charges when I am in Australia!?
4) - My Vodafone broadband constantly drops out. I have been working remotely from home on several occasions, when, BAM it drops off and I lose all my work.

I have never experienced not only such a poor service, but the manner in which the issues are dealt with (or not) are beyond belief.
Get your act together Vodafone! We've all had enough!

DON'T SIGN WITH VODAFONE.

They've got "very good deals" of late but you won't even get what you're paying for because of the bad service - bad service infrastructurally and bad service customer style.

I've had my contract for nearly two years and it was great at the beginning - they provided everything that was contracted for and service was good. That didn't last long with the service now so intermittent that I'm often standing in the middle of Sydney CBD with no reception. Or my call will connect, and then cut out soon after - meaning I have to make the call again and (surprise!) pay another round of flagfall. I send texts and they don't deliver. Long and short is - it's useless as a communication tool if you can't make calls and send texts that never arrive at their destination. I'm on an expensive business cap too and it's unimaginable how anyone is supposed to be able to conduct business on such a plan.

It also seems ridiculous that they waste time sending a glossy letter (June 2011) about how they're attempting to fix up the infrastructure but...

Had no time or resources to let all their customers know that they could swap on to the new plans (of the same value) after the Vodafone - 3 merger went through. Customer service told me that I would have been given the option:
(i) Had I visited one of their stores (why would I randomly visit a Vodafone store!)
(ii) Had I visited their cluttered website (why would I regularly visit their website)
They didn't even send an email out to notify their pre-existing customers. So turns out anyone on the old plans has to pay through the nose to make Vodafone to 3 calls; it's not part of the Vodafone to Vodafone minutes even though 3 IS Vodafone (and it's widely publicised and plastered all over their own websites).

Other service providers may be slightly more expensive on face value, but Vodafone definitely isn't worth the frustration. You think you're getting a good deal but you will always be exceeding your cap in ways you were unaware of (and plenty of my friends with caps on other providers have NEVER had to pay extra charges).

Customer service were polite but extremely unhelpful and couldn't resolve the issue. How to explain to someone miles away that in Australia, you visit the Vodafone shop once to try out phones and sign a contract, then you never regularly visit it again!
5 Jul 2011 07:04:13 PM: They then called back the next day - not to address any of the issues I had, but rather to ask why I would want to port my number (!!!) and how they could sign me on to a "new contract" based on my "needs and usage" because I was a very, very old customer. WHAT-A-JOKE!

The last thing I intend to do is to sign a new contract with them!

18566 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible!!! at 29 Jun 2011 07:47:53 PM
After months of terrible mobile broadband connection with my Vodafone stick, and even an upgrade to a newer supposedly better stick with no improvement, I called Vodafone to query the bad connection. They checked a few things and said my settings were fine, it must be a network issue, and they network team would investigate and call me back within 32hrs. They didnt. I called up 3 days later to cancel my account because I'd had enough and wanted to get a better provider. I was put through the ringer, being told that there were no service issues discovered by the network team. I complained that no one had bothered to inform me of that result prior to my call, and they said they called me and left a voice mail. I had not received a call. Despite this, I was still experiencing the same connection problems, ie. dropping out every 20 seconds, having to refresh an address link up to 30 times to get the website to show etc. 50 mins later I had been transferred 6 times to 6 different people who persisted in telling me that there was not a network problem, and finally told that if I wanted to cancel my contract I had to pay a $199 early termination fee. I was totally unaware that I was even still on a contract! My original 2 yr contract expired in June 2010 and apparently it was renewed last yr automatically! Given the lack of service I have received I don't think I should have to pay to end this supposed contract, regardless of whether there is agreement to it's existence or not. The saga ended with my resolution to take the issue to the Telecommunications Ombudsmen, which the supervisor I was speaking with did not seem concerned about. The customer service was nothing short of pathetic. In fact, lacking completely.
30 Jun 2011 11:12:27 AM: That is exactly why I only have a month to month contract or prepaid with any ISP now. No cancellation fee. It is also cheaper to buy your own router or modem from a computer store and tell them you have your own modem. Router's are better for security and configuration. Your own stuff can be used with ANY ISP!! and is usually cheaper and better quality, and has 12mth warranty if faulty. Mobile router-modems are ideal for laptop use even if you don't have a network because of their security features.

18558 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mucho at 28 Jun 2011 10:53:16 PM
Vodafone has released the Samsung Galaxy S2 without having the promised unlock codes (recently they have added codes, the wrong codes). This means that for people who go on a plan to get the phone to pass onto someone else, it will not work for the person recieving the phone unless their SIM card is a vodafone SIM.

As far as I am aware, other big telcos do not network lock phones purchased on plans (as opposed to subsidised prepaid phones), as it's no difference to them who uses the phone as it's paid for by the plan. Why Vodafone does is mystery.

I didn't know that I had voicemail until it was all delivered on Saturday, June 25th, 2011. I have had voicemail sitting on my phone since June 16 but none was delivered! Vodafone was migrating from their old voicemail system to a new one. They notified me regarding this change, but not once did they mention that we might potentially lose voicemails during this time. Among the voicemails that were missed, were 2 calls that cost me BUSINESS!Cost me money!

NEW CHARGES !!!!!!!
At least the accoutns dept of slowdafone is on the ball.
Just got an SMS relating to their attempt to 'correct' their billing of data.
Calling 1520 outlines the scheme.

From where I stand, i.e absolutely cannot wait to be rid of the pain that I suffer due to vodashame, getting informed abotu how they migh charge me MORE is beyond ridiculous.

It's all about tethering and using P2P torrents, using VIOP via apps like Skype etc.

So where was this info in my contract ?

Changing contract without my approval ?

Lets cancel my contract without YOUR approval vodafone.
OH ! lets see, you coudl charge me for that.

18538 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Jun 2011 11:04:50 AM
Hi I have a laptop and a vodafone modem. This is the only computer in our house and due to my income the only computer and package I can afford. I can never get coverage I can not even get coverage to check my emails or do the basic google searches required for homework for my children ect. So basically I am paying for "NOTHING". this is not acceptable nor is the customer service line that vodafone offers because when I call it I wait and wait and wait and then they hang up on me . So then I get a "IMPROVING OUR SERVICE" note in the mail telling me to visit vodafone.com.au/redeem website to get my new modem well I cant get coverage to visit this website so I get in my car and drive to the top of the nearest hill to get coverage and find out that this website doesnt even exist????? Frustrated yes unaxceptable yes . Dont know what to do.
Regards, FRUSTRATED.

18533 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 26 Jun 2011 02:03:19 PM
I Had a Vodafone mobile service account but unfortunately I had next to no reception at my work place after approximately 6 months of phone calls with their technical department they decided it was a black spot and they would let me out of my contract.

They wanted me to pay $2200.00 just to cover the handsets. but they sent me a bill for $2633.00.

In the email a (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED) writes that I agree to pay $2200.00 I have no written or verbal agreement with her that this would happen. I said i had to think about her offer.

I told them I would not be paying this amount as there company has cost me thousands of dollars in lost time, lost phone calls and lost work.

I then received a noticed from PDR collection service to pay the amount $2633.00.I rang PDR explained to them my story she advised me she would ring Vodafone and get back to me.

I never heard back from her or Vodafone. I presumed with all their complaints and the class action regarding their reception they let the matter go.

now i have a bad credit rating and cant get a loan.
26 Jun 2011 03:28:35 PM: That is not good.

It may not be too late to go to the TIO with this complaint.

I returned a pocket WiFi after 6 days as it wasn't working. Vodafone debited my card for a bit more than the monthly agreed amount of $39 for 10GB (actually $41.59!?!) and now REFUSE to give me a refund (based on their 30 days money back guarantee on broadband items!) In those painful 6 days I used only 120MB of data!

Billing issues. I was given a credit for the bad service and coverage. Months later they take away my credit and said it was applied by error. Raise complaint to TIO and someone from Vodafone calls me and said they will apply the credit and will show up on next bill. Bill arrives and no credit. Call customer service and they know nothing about it. TIO again. Not only is coverage a problem but so is their billing.

Everything from Vodafone is fail, including the phones they brand. Anything Vodafone is fail. Don't buy a footy sweater that has vodafone on it, something bad will happen.

Vodafone is a virus in many different shapes and forms.

Where do i begin? Each time i call Vodafone i am stuck talking to them for so long that the vodafone drops out (of course). They are useless! THINKING OF USING VODAFONE? WHY NOT ASK A VODAFONE CUSTOMER FIRST and save yourself a lot of frustration!!!!!!!! Ask me if you like, ive suffered their poor excuse for service for years. I hear other peoples private vodafone messages, I have been lied to for 2 years about a problem with my service and billing, only now they admit there has been a problem all along and they were just fobbing me off coz they didnt know how to rectify the billing problem. I am now on hold AGAIN waiting for the consultant to check with his supervisor...he is confused about my bill-if he cant understand it, how can the customer?? MANY MANY complaints about this mob. ISnt it a bit racist of them to have local Australian staff at call centres when you are buying a product or service, but offshore staff when you need any assistance after you r signed up.....hmmmm. check it out... call to the centre and press buttons thru to buy a contract- talk to an aussie. now call back and press buttons for billing or problems....presto-overseas cheap call centre! i think this is a poor and discriminatory process by vodafone.

After 3 complaints, including waiting/talking on the phone with a "technician" in Mumbai I either do not get voicemail messages at all or if I do, I get them 24 hours late. One was for a medical problem so I was really annoyed as it was received on the Saturday necessitating a 2 day wait to contact the doctor.
With Mumbai's assistance we have reset voicemail 3 times to no avail.
I also have virtually no connection in my home and need to walk outside to get minimal coverage. I was with V/fone 10 years ago and I think the reception and service was a lot better.
I have 12 months left on the contract.
23 Jun 2011 11:45:46 PM: You have given Vodafone plenty of opportunity to sort out their issues now it's time for the TIO. Check out the 'how to complain' page for their details. They will force Vodafone to solve the problem.

Last Friday I used the Vodafone website to pay my bill of $300. The following day I checked my bank account to find that my credit card had been charged twice by Vodafone. I spent a good part of Saturday speaking to MANY MANY different people at Vodafone only to be told that they could not reverse the extra withdraw from my account and would keep the extra payment and add a credit to my account for next months bill!!!! I have spoken to my bank and handed the matter over to them to investigate it as Vodafone don't seem to understand that it is illegal to withdraw money from someones visa without permission!! After 7 years with Vodafone I am closing my account. Enough is enough!

18493 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Getting worse on Lwr North Shore at 22 Jun 2011 09:16:54 AM
My partner and I have been with VF for at least 6 years, living on lower north shore that whole time. While I was never overly amazed at their overall service, we never noticed having bad coverage or delayed SMS transmission... Even when the big media blowup about how bad some people were finding it happened, I never found it all that bad. But since they've been blowing their horn about how they're "making big changes and improvements" the service in this area has been getting MUCH worse.

My pet theory: They're removing infrastructure from parts of sydney where there's not too many complaints and installing it in high-complaint regions. That's certainly what it seems to be.

Anyway, goodbye vodafone, I've stuck with you for many years just because it was too much effort to look around and/or change, but I'm not locked into a contract and you're fired.

18485 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is has upset 16859 people! at 21 Jun 2011 05:21:20 PM
Dear Vodafone, you lost your credibility when you decided to hire an indian call centre to deal with angry customers. If you have angry customers before they dial 1555, why on earth would you try piss them off even more by having untrained employees who speak english but don't understand it, do your dirty work...

After waiting two weeks to receive my Broadband modem that took several endless phone calls, that resulted in having to pick up my own parcel, I had to call yet again (there's a shocker!) I was charged during the whole two weeks of NOT having my modem let alone using it. I also asked for 6GB not 500MB (is that even a valid plan?) Have some commonsense what on earth will I do with half a GB, 'receive 2 emails' and I'm over my cap?!!! Let's not even mention my internet would not work until 10 minutes ago, and that's no thanks to Vodafone!

Lara: 'HI. I'm Lara, if you would like to talk to me using your keyboard please press #1, if you would like to talk to me like normal using a few words press #2'

Me: Fuck no! #1 it is...

(Please be patient while they transfer me to 5 different departments...)

Real name unknown: 'Hi, I'm Daniel...'

(Yea alright, that's just the name you've been given to disguise your indian name)

Real name unknown: 'Can you please read out your phone number and confirm your name and birthdate?'

(WTF for? I already typed it on my keyboard while getting through to you, and you have it on your screen in front of your face!)

...After delayed responses and asking me 'how my day is' not that I have time to respond, but still I'm polite and respond.

Me: '...I purchased a mobile broadband dongle over the phone from a Vodafone representative, I didn't get it until yesterday. It has informed me I only have 500MB of Data.. Why? I'm on a 6GB plan'

Name unknown: 'hmm, okay hold on I will check for you...'

(On hold for 5 minutes I kid you not.)

Name unknown: 'Your on the infinite plan, the $99 you only receive 3GB of data'

(Are you fucking shitting me right now?...)

Me: 'No, no, MOBILE BROADBAND not my phone plan a separate transaction under the same name!. I want to know why I only have 500MB of data and I should have 6GB, which would be around 6000MB not half a GB!!!'

Name unknown: 'One moment I will check that for you...'

(Ten minutes later...no joke, I'm willing to show my call history)

Name unknown: 'Yes 500MB is half a GB, and 6000MB is 6GB, that is correct anything else I can help you with?'

(WHAT A JOKE! I did not wait 20 minutes for some clown to confirm the difference between GB and MB, Google could have answered that within a second...)

***BEEP BEEP BEEP***

Have an amazing life 'Daniel', I hope the $3.20 per hour you receive will keep you intelligent.
Vodafone, enjoy your early retirement/grave, I hate Telstra for the same customer service reason, but god do they look like a diamond standing next to you.
21 Jul 2011 09:57:49 AM: You are a racist idiot!
27 Jul 2011 10:12:18 PM: Racist Idiot - bit harsh. I am sick too of having to repeat myself or asking them to repeat things several times because I can't understand what is being said. I have hearing difficulties and accents make it more diff. for me to understand. It would be the same if it were a strong American or whatever accent. I have seen the studies that say that telemarketers (etc) from other countries use western names to make u feel more comfortable (ha!) Now isn't that a bit racist thinking that we would be more comfortable if we didn't think he was a 'Sanjeev' or whatever. Today I got transferred from Vodafone to 3 and back. Everyone I talked to was Indian. I don't have a problem with the heritage - I want jobs for Australians. Of course I COULD have been talking to three Australians who migrated from India but I think that unlikely.
6 Aug 2011 09:22:22 PM: No, thats not racist at all. It's not unreasonable to ask for a good service for what your paying. So what, bringing up the word "indian" makes you racist? Your an idiot
10 Aug 2011 05:20:23 PM: I'm Indian, but I don't "sound" Indian, but I can tell you that sometimes the accent can really grate on my nerves...but I agree, it wouldn't make any difference what accent it was. The lines/connections to customer service are always crap, compound that with the fact that you are on hold and/or transfered numerous times only to repeat your story like an LP...it's generally not a happy place that you're at in the first place so it is easy to get frustrated with a rep of Vodaphone. And that's what they are - a representative. It is the upper eschalons of companies like Vodaphone that make the decision to have call centres out of Australia. I can't see the current situation changing from outsourcing call centres overseas back to Australia happening soon, and therefore these jobs will remain overseas. In the meantime can I suggest an alternative - go into a Vodaphone shop - they should be able to I went into one to change my plan just so that I didn't have to be on hold, transfered around etc.

My only issues with your post is the second last line of your post...."Have an amazing life 'Daniel', I hope the $3.20 per hour you receive will keep you intelligent." This just makes you sound like an ass and unintelligent. I know you've been frustrated beyond belief, but there's no need to be ugly about 'Daniel' and his life, hourly rate and intelligence. And by the way - my name is Charmaine...rather western don't you think....my last name's rather western too. I was born with that name....and 'Daniel' could have been born with that name as well. There are LOTS of Indians with 'western'...or more correctly biblical names. Yes, there are some studies about telemarketing/call center tactics, but this strategy of changing names is not news.

If you can say that Telstra looks like a diamond next to Vodaphone, then you have yet to experience the bullshit I've had to deal with - and you should see the collective times of my call histories with them...err total all up to resolve 1 problem was 6+ hours!! All these companies the same Telstra, Optus, AAPT, Primus...and by the way, there WORST experiences I've had to date has been with Foxtel - yes I know it's not in the telco mobile content that's being discussed, but my point is about their customer care which is in Australia where you get to speak to a good olde Aussies who holds a call center job in OZs is absolutely SHIT. Go into a Vodaphone shop.

21 Jun 2011 04:06:39 PM: Don't worry it's not unbelievable. Plenty of people are having that issue so it might be best to file a complaint to see if they are planning on fixing it in your area any time soon.

Apparently my data usage went up 3 fold in less than 3 weeks, but I never use my phone to use the net, they offered me a 5% reduction on the account.... big fucking deal vodafone! Their service is the worst of any organisation in the world! Their service is DOWN again today! No account enquiries, and the message on their account enquiries line is try back in a few hours! Not good enough as far as I am concerned. EVERY SINGLE VODAFONE CUSTOMER SHOULD BOYCOTT VODAFONE AND NOT PAY THEIR ACCOUNTS, AND TAKE A CLASS ACTION AGAINST VODAFONE.

18461 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Can we say fraud? at 20 Jun 2011 09:40:47 AM
Finally got free of Vodafone today. I have posted previously on this site but I'd like to share the final chapter, which might be of interest to a lot of you. Since end of Nov 2010 my mobile broadband service [to Chippendale, NSW 2008] has been just awful. Wrote to the ombudsman and in February Vodafone got back to me that I was released from my 24 month contract and that they would waive my final bill. Didn't get around to finding a new ISP but finally called Vodafone at end of April seeking a cancellation. The lady offered to take $10 of my monthly spend and to send me the newest modem free of charge. I thought I'd give them one last try - alas, there was no improvement in performance. Switched to vividwireless, which works really well. Phoned vodafone today to cancel, and the rep told me that they were aware of a specific problem in my area, that would be resolved by start of August; offered that if I didn't cancel, they would waive my spend for the next three months. So...my question is this:

In the seven months since I started having difficulties, why was I never informed of this specific problem before? On numerous occasions, the reps have expressly informed me that there are no coverage issues in or around my address.
And, of course, for the majority of those seven months, Vodafone have charged me the full rate of $39 per month.

I feel that Vodafone knowingly misled me and I encourage others to contact the ombudsman as soon as possible!
27 Jun 2011 11:12:19 AM: I do too. They were still signing up customers in my area even though it has not had a decent reception since ~ February, shortly after they joined to '3'.

18428 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally amazing FAIL at 17 Jun 2011 06:46:21 PM
Wow. I am in shock. I have spent the last 2 days chasing up vodafone. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Life sometimes throws you curve-balls I know, but this one has both blown my mind, and destroyed me emotionally and physically.

It all started 2 weeks ago when i was on a vodafone plan with my former employer. I as required submitted documents requesting access to make my number available to me once i retired my work handset, and simply switch it over to a pre-paid vodafone account.

Last 2 days of my life my friends. I took the days off work. Approximately 5 hours waiting around in a vodafone retail outlet. Approximately 6 hours on call (probably 5 hours of that on hold. I know their entire playlist of music. I also realised that the traveling wilburys were actually pretty good, after hearing 'Handle With Care' about 7 times today.) Add 2 hours of travel time.

I am still calling and trying to get my problem resolved, but it is past 6pm, and all my calls are going to India. 2 of them have hung up on me tonight. Not even God can help me now.

I can not express to you enough how harrowing this experience has been. The vodafone staff in my experience are good at their jobs. It's the company infrastructure that sucks, and clearly does not act to support the customer in a professional and respectable manner.

Thanks to the boys at Vodafail Broadway. Garfield and 'the skinny one'. I feel for you, but you did a the best you could. And a special shout out to Hannah from the pre-paid team. She tried, but as expected, the system failed her. Vodafailed her. Peace out.

Called in this morning at 8:15am, Same bloody excuse system is down, call back in an hour. Now I am left without being able to make any calls!!!! I asked the lady I spoke to this morning "Kivilta" to call me when the system was back up and she became aggresive and said "NO" as she doesnt know when the system will be back up. DOES THIS MEAN WHEN I CALL IN AN HOURS TIME AND SIT ON HOLD FOR ANOTHER 20-30 MINS I AM GONNA BE TOLD TO CALL BACK IN ANOTHER HOUR. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!

18416 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Emergency letdown at 16 Jun 2011 11:37:34 AM
Ive been with Vodafone for a very long time - and the latest incident ive had has nailed the coffin im afraid.
Shortened version by far!

Despite visiting the same areas before many times- and with older phones - my partner, 3 yr old and i visited family near the Snowy Mountains recently. Given my mum had just moved we were given directions but became turned around on a wrong road. It was almost 1am in the morning, freezing, sleeting and we had ZERO reception, not even emergency reception. I couldnt get my laptop to connect using my mobile broadband. We had to drive somewhere we could find a few bars and even then the phone disconnected ever word or two.
The next day we had other family check their reception - perfect. We made sure we use different roaming settings but they still didnt work.
Im totally sick to death of never being able to use my phone ever, even in major towns and cities - it gets used for a few sms, the occasional call (that continues to drop out)and used as an alarm occasionally. A landline can do all this but isnt mobile.

So - as soon as possible im ditching Vodafone - they suck, ive never had a response about previous problems, and i was sucked into a new contract (after not being on one for years) just to upgrade to a phone that also freezes, turns itself off, has bad reception and generally isnt the best.

Vodofone - you really owe your customers - you provide terrible service.

What if we had had a terrible car accident or some other emergency? Cant use your service anymore, too unreliable. Imagine if your bad service impacted so badly on a family that they died. Could you live with that? Im sure someone there actually would.
16 Jun 2011 11:40:22 AM: Oh - and im ditching the mobile broadband with them too - it never works.
16 Jun 2011 11:50:05 AM: Another thing - the sms messages i do get to send - arrive at their destinations days later....
16 Jun 2011 12:18:20 PM: Wow.....I feel your pain!

18413 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is hopeless at 15 Jun 2011 09:38:55 PM
Vodafail sends an sms when your prepaid service needs recharging. Great. But why do they always send it in the middle of the night?? Considering we have Australian numbers, it is reasonable to assume we are asleep during the night hours.

Six months ago, I compained after three of my family each received reminder sms between 2am and 4am. Vodafail apologised profusely and said they had changed their ways. My father was woken by a reminder sms at 2.45am yesterday.

I emailed a complaint today on his behalf. Received a call tonight. The caller said I needed to speak to someone else and transferred me without passing any info to that person. Explained the issue. 'You need to speak to my manager'. After being on hold for 5 mins, I hung up. Received a call later to say someone would call me back within 48 hours.

I'm amazed this crowd actually manage to switch phone calls.

I currently have mobile broadbeand and my Iphone signed up with Vodafone, service is absolutely woeful. i only wish i had done more investigation rahter than choosing the cheapest. My iphone most of the time cant even load a webpage around Shearwater Parade Tweed Heads, if i move further up the Coast to Palm Beach it does improve, unfortunately im locked in a contract for another 18 months. My Mobile Broadband is that bad, that im looking for alternatives as its unworkable.
Anyone have any suggestions, i currently dont have a land line so bundling is probably not a option, cheers.
15 Jun 2011 10:28:57 PM: Don't feel to bad about the Cowboys at Vodacorpse ripping you off with bad service. They sucked in everyone. Most of the Gold Coast has little to no coverage. Those Cowboys reckon that they will improve there network as stated on Vodacorpse website update blog, otherwise if you haven't got the patience you can complain to the TIO. Otherwise maybe speak to one of the other Telco's to see if they can help you out with some sort of prepay to fit your budget, until these Cowboys unburied there rotten corpse, and drag there smelly Vodacorpse out of there ivory coffins and surprise us all by providing a workable useable network.

18410 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is HUGE... EPIC at 15 Jun 2011 04:18:41 PM
December last year I posted on this site and contacted the TIO over Vodafails lack of reliability and refusal to cancel my contract.

Once the TIO became involved I was contacted by Vodafail in Jan and they agreed to terminate my contract. GREAT I thought.... well the next month I recieved a bill, I called Vodafail and was told sorry well cancel the contract and refund the amount. Again the next month, and the next I didnt bother calling as it had been agreed on two occasions to end the contract.

On the 4th bill after my account cancellation I call again to while I am told;

1. You did not cancel the account but cancelled the contract
2. I am still using the phone
3. I have to pay the 4 outstanding invoices

well after explaining the following
1. Why the F**K would I cancel the contract but leave the account running when I stated in my TIO complaint I wanted the account canceled, all ammounts paid refunded due to Vodafones failure to provide a service and no further amounts owed.
2. I smashed the phone + simm card at the start of 2010 and so it is physically impossible for me to make an outgoing call/sms/data service. I am not responsible for anyone who calls the number (which is redirected) for this phone as it was my business phone and so EVERYONE had this number.
3. They can go to hell if he thinks I am paying a single bloody dollar when I have repeatedly told them to bugger off.

The result
1. Vodafail will cancel the account once I have paid the outstanding invoices
2. The operator did not understand that forwarding incoming calls to my new phone was like a magazine subscription. The individual is not responsible for paying for magazines once they have declared their wish to cancel the subscription. Every magazine after that is a mistake of the company which it cannot charge for. While the support person was capable of cancelling the excess invoices out of the goodness of his heart he would only cancel two of them and I pay the other two (then the account will be cancelled).

3. I reiterated my comment about hell with additional flowery language.

Back to the TIO, for FARKS sake........

I've had no signal for the past hour. When I eventually make it to a phone booth to call the "help" line, I'm betting they'll say I've been cut off for not paying my $700 bill. WHY? Because it is absolutely APPALLING that I should rack up a bill like that in the first place, simply from calling other mobiles in Australia. I have never encountered such irresponsible price trapping or poor customer service in my life and fully intend to take my business elsewhere. Goodbye, Vodafail.

I was contaced by a Vodafone rep in early May, who wanted to "upgrade" my business cap from $130 a month to $150 a mont. he said he would give me two free Sim Cards weith unlimited talk and text time and pay no more than $150 a month. He also offered me $800 voucher on hardware in any vodafone store. I agreed to what i thought was great value, as my parents are pensioners and it would be a great way to keep all our bills down. NI have now been slugged with an extra $122.72 on two bills for use of the two extra Sim cards, which by the way are still unactivated and not being used. I have contacted vodafone, got call centres in India who said they would call me back. I am stil lwaiting to hear from them.
24 Jun 2011 10:29:13 AM: you should have got 3 x 45 infinity plans instead, my daughter used to rack up $200 on pre-pay each month, now since 3 months on a 45 plan I have never paid more then $45,,,some things are good at vodafone.I dont mind a few drop outs if Im gonna save 3 times as much from another carrier. I was at Montezuma's at Crows Nest tonight. I checked my phone and it said that I had a missed a call from my friend. I had full 3G reception. Great you think but no. I tried to call him back but the phone seem to be taking ages to get the call out, then all of a sudden I hear 3 beeps. When I looked at the phone it said "Call failed". I tried again and still that same thing. I tried again 4 more times and still the same problem. What is going on. Full 3G reception but can't get a call out. What is this? I finally got through to my friend but it was really hard to hear and sounded like it was wanting to drop out. Lucky I have a second phone with telstra so I called him on that and had no problem. The bit that gets me is I was supposed to get the 5,6 & 7 month free, it never happened. They now tell me it is not in my contract, even though they where advertising it at the time ending 31/03/2009.

They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced, rude, arrogant, pushy and down right offensive at times. To be fair, today I received good customer service but this is the first time in 2 years.

I've closed my account with them (even that was a struggle) and now that they have bought 3 I will be closing that phone account too. I will never deal with this company again.

Sometimes it would be every 5-10 minutes, sometimes a few hours but it will just stop workind and eventually come up with the error "Mobile Device not detected". When this happens all you can do is unplug it and try again, sometimes multiple times within minutes. Even the hardware is fail. It happened again, as I am trying to post this. OMFG FAILLLL

18343 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is WHAT A JOKE at 7 Jun 2011 11:37:34 PM
I live in Griffith NSW and Vodafone is the biggest joke here. At best I have 1 or 2 bars. And thats if Im in the middle of town. I live about 10 mins out and I have 1 bar at best. Slow internet and constant call dropout. The Mobile phone tower is an hour's drive away near Hay in the middle of nowhere and if i want full coverage i need to go out there and that's when the signal is strongest. The nearest Vodafail store is at Wagga (200km away). Looks like another epic fail. I was visiting Sydney last week and the signal was 3 bars at best. Hopeless!!! Get your act together Vodaphoney!! You are hopeless in reigonal NSW. The best services are Telstra, Austar or CountryMobile.

Holidaying in Cairns, QLD, did not have ANY COVERAGE WHATSOEVER for 3 days. Unable to contact family in NSW. I had to use the payphone in the hotel lobby. EMBARASSING!! Mobile Internet constantly times out, too slow to load webpages. Phone calls drop out regularly. Slow data download on 3G Smartphone.

18338 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is don't even make me start at 7 Jun 2011 09:12:19 PM
Dear Vodafail, I have a genuine concern that Vodafone is blocking/limiting Skype, here's why:
Skype keeps spinning to connect, while I can access other websites.
No pc updates or background traffic is active - I AM SURE OF IT.
Even if it does eventually connect, I am not able to use Skype for simple voice calls that require 60kilobits/ps connection to function properly, while the speedtest reports 2megabit connections.
No antivirus, clean OS install, no concurrent internet traffic
How is this logically or legally possible?

Is this another way to chain the customers so they didn't escape?

I'd appreciate if an investigation was held with this issue.
8 Jun 2011 01:09:03 AM: Hi,

It appears that Skype is having some service problems today that are affecting some users worldwide. There is a blog post on the skype website and it says they are working on sorting them out.

http://heartbeat.skype.com/2011/06/problems_signing_in_to_skype_f.html

The blog says the issues aren't yet resolved so maybe check back on the Skype website in the morning and see if it's fixed.

18333 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a complete waste of money at 7 Jun 2011 12:29:17 AM
I have 3G mobile broadband and live in an inner suburb, yet reception constantly drops out and I have to reconnect repetitively to get anything out of it. The speed starts out as it should, then over a period of a few seconds it zooms down to zero. It's quite comical how utterly useless it is. Looked at the website today to see how to unlock my sim and it says I can't do it unless I bought it from a Vodafone retail outlet. VODAFAIL!!!

I just rang them and requested a disconnection date and end of my contract term, they threw the world at me, free handsets better call rates bla bla bla. mate i said, just put the notice in. off he went again in his butter chicken accent (very hard to understand) so i says mate... just put the notice in.

So off he went into round 3 of persisting they were fixing issues bla bla bla, mate i said.. put the notice in. In the end i gave up and said, look, ill call back on the date and disconnect it then. I had to actually hang up on him because he kept going off in different tangents.

Ive been a voda customer for over 10 years. Parting will be such sweet sweet sorrow. Not.

These guys are complete idiots. I have a security camera with a sim card that was sold to me originally by Hutcheson originally, and it was sold as a device you simply dial into so it never needed to be recharged. Once Vodaphone took over they saw fit to just disconnect the sim and so I have been left with no ability to get into my security, thinking I had some other problem.

I now find out that this sim is of a special type and you cant put a normal sim in yet they say the old one is cancelled and they cant supply a new one of that type.

I have left MANY messages for a manager to call back but these idiots cant even manage that.

I left my Galaxy S handset at the Victoria Ave Chatswood Vodafail office (not the Westfield one) for warranty repair in Mid May. "We'll sms when it comes back im told". "It will only be 10 days I'm told."

Three weeks later, no SMS. Do you think that they answer their phones (phone number taken from their Repair Order Receipt)....NO. Do you think they return voicemail messages...NO. Do you think they respond to SMS I send them....NO. Do you think Vodafail Customer Support could contact them either or give me a status of my warranty repair, even when I gave them my Order Number...NO

I live in rural NSW and can't just pop into the store to ask. I can have a friend pick up my phone if I knew it was ready.

18285 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I'm Getting Divorced ! at 4 Jun 2011 04:01:03 PM
Gosh..... Where do I start!
I've been married with Vodafail for 15 years.
I'm a self employed Mobile hands free technician,
Yesterday (one of many countless days)
a customer left a voice mail at 11.00am, I received the text at 5.00pm,,,,, Yeah great for business.
I would have full signal, my phone wouldn't ring and it would go straight to voice mail, so i dug deeper, and did a few tests of my own, if i was indoors with my phone on 3G, i rang my phone from a land line, 7 out of 10 calls would go straight to voice mail. if i turned 3G off and had it on GSM only, lookout my phone rang every time, so you can imagine how many business calls i lost in 15 years! I had to leave my phone on GSM only.
Id be talking on the phone with full signal strength in the car with cradle and external antenna and it would drop out. Not to mention receiving text messages days later.
Lara needs English lessons and so do the call centers in India.
Now lets talk about mobile Broadband,
I purchased a Mobile broadband USB stick, inside the box it says that 3G Broadband speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps LOL, I cant even get 1/10 of that speed,
in fact its about 600-800 Kbps! (is that dial up speed)? And that's with a strong 3G signal or HSDPA.
You can only take so much, my business suffered, and now its time for a divorce!
Kind Regards JB

4 Jun 2011 12:27:28 PM: Like a computer...a phone needs a reboot on a regular basis....all you need to do is switch it on and off....

I live in NSW-2141. Most I get is 1-3 bar in my signal indicator in the phone and sometimes its none. Calls drop all the time. My parents live abroad and its so frustrating when they call me and the call terminates abruptly. People tells me that they get into my voicemail directly as if my phone is switched off.I think every vodafone customer should just sue these scumbags.Nobody should pay for such shitty service.

Cannot believe that after signing a contract for mobile broadband coverage at an added $10 pmonth with my phone plan Vodafone have no coverage for my street but my provider tells me that the broadband part of my package was actually free so I still get to pay the $10 p month for a service they cannot provide (apparently the $10 covers the usb stick) - bullshit!

Now I've been on hold for 90 minutes!! Absolutely ridiculous, and Vodafone wonder why everyone hates them, sort it out!

3 Jun 2011 09:51:06 AM: If you haven't already complained to Vodafone then do so and state that you want out. If they don't let you or want you to pay exit fees then go straight to the TIO. All the details are on the 'How to complain' page. Goodluck!

Vodafail charged or Credit Card 5 times on the 5th of May for $149 UNAUTHORISED.. $745!!!
I am on a $19 cap. After phone calls to them... nothing! They denied it till I was nearly yelling down the phone line. They wanted me to send them our credit card details (as if!) and after emailing them an amended copy of our credit card statement... they lost it!!
I have only been with them for 3 months and am ready to change again.

18249 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is RUBBISH! at 2 Jun 2011 03:56:24 PM
I am with 3 and they convinced me to go to Vodafone with a pretty good deal. i accepted. I ordered an iphone 4 in white. I confirmed my address several times in the call and had it sent to my work so i would be there to sign for it. I ordered on the Monday and it was delivered on the wednesday - Fantastic right? Wrong - mega voda fail. They sent it to the wrong address. They also let someone other than me sign for it. I cannot find the address that they sent the phone to. I have walked up and down the street and asked locals and no one can find it. I dont believe the address even exists.

So I ring them - ask that they cancel the phone and that I am able to go to a store to pick one up.
Apparently it takes them up to 48 hours to cancel the service - then it will take them 5-7 business days to send another. They advised me that I cant speed up the process as this is normal procedure. Maybe so but it isnt normal procedure to give my phone to someone else so i figured we would be able to resolve the matter.

I was told someone would ring me back as i was not happy. i waited for 3 hours so I rang back. This time they told me the phone had been listed as missing and that they were posting one out to the wrong address still. I confirmed i wasnt happy to wait 9 business days and that i wanted to pick one up in store. She said she would get back to me. Then i got a call confirming my postal address but thats it - she said she was only confirming details and coudlnt help me any further.

another few hours pass again and i hear nothing. i ring and ask that a manager gives me a call - i was told it would take 1-2 hours. I asked if that would be 1 or 2 hours and she couldnt tell me.

I am very concerned that someone else has my phone and my personal details.
I am equally concerned that Vodafail arent willing to try and resolve this problem after monumentally stuffing up.

I am quickly running out of patience and am very close to contacting the ombudsman and taking my business elsewhere.

VODAFAIL!

We live in Lismore NSW, the major city on the Far North Coast. Our house is fifty mts from a major through road but because we are below the hill line on the north/north east ridges of the city our recepion is extremely poor. We can only receive an intermittent reception if we stand out on one part of our balcony. We have three vodafone phones in the family, one being our 16 yr old son, who lives through his phone, and pretty well have no coverage to speak of. I am sure many other vodafone users would have the same issue as a major part of Lismore is built on this side of the hill.
