Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

19838 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is If the scale was on ten, 100 at 30 Oct 2011 09:39:35 AM
I transferred from 3 to Vodaphone because my contract ended, I don't know why I did because my boyfriend is on Vodaphone and whenever I call him at home, his phone will 100 percent cut out and he can't even access 3G in his area. I live in MELBOURNE, Coburg, roughly 20km from the CBD, and my phone sits on searching in my own f+%*##king house!!!! Its taken over 20 minutes to send 4-5 texts, this is pathetic, I'm calling tomorrow an I'm complaining. I need the ombudsman I can't be f@$ked dealing with their outsourced telecommunications representatives!

19833 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Can't even do a simple number change! at 29 Oct 2011 04:09:46 PM
Recently, I requested a number change with Vodafone. I am currently on a prepaid plan and I know that it costs $19.95 to have a number changed. I am also informed that when requesting this kind of service, a customer can request for their desired number format e.g. 61449599*** (left three asterisks at the end so that the system can generate a good mobile number.) 8/11 customer service reps that I have spoken to in the last few days say that this is not possible and I would have to pay $275 plus $19.95 if I want my new number to be a specific format. The other three customer service reps knew what to do and advised me that the format mentioned above was perfectly acceptable. Vodafone, I cant believe your'e trying to sell me something that nearly costs $300 for a simple number change that should cost $19.95! :(

19823 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Phone coverage shocking! at 28 Oct 2011 09:38:50 AM
I live in Williamstown, Victoria very close to Melbourne city and am constantly getting horrific coverage. Especially in my house. So sick of hearing they are doing all these upgrades. I have yet to see an improvement. Its not like I live in the middle of nowhere! Even when I am in the city I often have terrible coverage. I feel very sorry for Australians. This sort of service provision would not be accpetable in the UK where I was before. Complaints and bad press seems to do nothing here to change things. My contract is up in March and unfortunatly, even the other providers aren't fantastic. From one crappy choice to the next slightly better but still not good enough... And you call this the lucky country?
28 Oct 2011 11:06:58 PM: Yea it is pretty bad, there was a huge media storm earlier in the year that got Vodafone's attention. Since then they've announced a lot of plans and network upgrades but there are still lots of issues. If you can get reception then you still have to worry about problems with the Vodafone billing system.
In most cases the best bet for a complaint is with the TIO - at least you'll be able to get what you want when you go through them.

Have not been able to top up my prepay for 1.5 days!! On line option tells me i have exceeded my monthly top up ( funny given I was told the sim app prepay top up said it did not work). Call 1555 get a recorded message , then when I am stupid enough to wait to speak to someone...I am rewarded with a disconnected call.
AM seriously thinking of taking out a 1/4in the Australian, as a group open letter from all of us. Getting prices today!!

19821 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MAJOR FAIL! at 28 Oct 2011 08:04:06 AM
Network: Signed up several months ago on a 65+5 for the Desire HD on infinate... wow.. a typical CBD phonecall takes at least 3-4 attempts to even connect. Tried several phones, and it appears as though my only option is to stick purely to GSM if I actually want to make and receive calls.
Billing: Got my first email bill no problems.. payed it via bpay... no problems.. set up an automatic payment via internet banking... 2 months pass, 3, 4... then my phone dies! So i call... guess what!? Voda has been accepting automatoc payment every month into the wrong account (i.e changed my bpay reference number after first bill, has populated via vodafone account with 9 year old '3' data from an old contract i was on), and of course, has been sending all email and other correspondance to another address.. BUT keeping the money, and DISCONNECTING ME for non payment. So, to restore my service and avoid a bad credit note, I had to pay 390 odd dollars (including late payment fees) and chase the bPay payments which have left my account with my bank...Yay! Thank you vodafone! Thank you for the phone call after month 1 to let me know that there was a payment issue on my account (sarcasm)!
I am definately on an infinate plan... infinate rubbish! Time to go to the TIO... FAIL!
On a side note... ive been with 3 for years on another contract I use for work.. I just switched to telstra for the same network reasons as above.. 3 has degraded in network quality severely - particularly with internet speed and coverage... and I got TIRED of seeing 'E' and paying per MB for roaming that didnt even bloody work!
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE!!! VFH AU - Shame on you for sucking in so many unsuspecting customers (especially those who paid out existing contracts to join your pathetic network!)

I have been with 3 for years and very happy with the service. Recently I was invited to change over to Vodaphone and STUPIDLY I agreed. Since then I have had nothing but problems. No access in Queensland when staying with my girlfriend (a first) and now my picture messages are RANDOMLY not SENT or RECEIVED. This is causing major problems with my partner.
I want out of Vodaphone and back to 3 until they sort this out. I live 40kms from Melbourne CBD!!!!!!!! In an electronic age where they are promising such wonderful things on their upgraded network, it shouldn't be that hard!!!!!!!

I ask to go on a higher cap and they tell me it should go through in 2 days. After 2 days I start increasing my downloads to that of the new cap and then get suspended for going over cap. I call up and they havent upgraded my cap. They tell me I have to pay part of the bill or no reconnection. They tell me the will put in a dispute and give me my money back but after they reconnect me they direct debit the rest out of my account. Over $500 all up. Three months later still no money. I keep calling and they keep telling me the money should only be a few more days so I ring the TIO. Nice person calls me and tells me sorry about the others people at the call centre we will give you your money plus "Good Will" bonus (so no more trouble with Ombudsman). Then Vodafone calls me back and says investigation into your problem so money will take longer. Nice person I spoke to no longer works there and new person is not as nice.

27 Oct 2011 06:43:58 PM: If this was other way around they would have disconnected the phone and sent the debt collectors after me.
28 Oct 2011 08:16:26 AM: Exactly what they did to me! Except they changed my bpay ref number after the first bill (which I had set up an automatic payment on), re-populated my VF account with 9 year old data from and old '3' account i had, and sent all correspondance to the wrong address and email.. no-one even bothered calling, just d/c me and threatened me with bad credit for non payment for 4 months. After all this I had to pay the amount owing again, am chasing up the missing bpay payments ($280) with my bank (which didnt bounce) + the late payment fees for each month.

On my last 3 trips to Malaysia over the last 6 months, my vodafone iphone has not worked. Have had numerous conversations with the help desk but to no avail. Have had to resort to using a local sim although that does not help with Australian calls. Is Vodafone having issues with their parners?
25 Oct 2011 08:37:22 AM: if u did use VF sim i would hate to be picking up the tab. that "local sim" saved you a backet load. i just got back from china & 3 calls & 3 txt & close to $100 thanks for coming. it is so much cheaper using local sim

Was with 3 for close to 7 years but now all new contracts are getting moved onto vodafone. So I moved my phone and Internet to them. For 10 months my Internet cap is no more than $39 then I get a phone call the other day from them trying to get me to upgrade my plan because my bill is over $1000 for the month. I don't download anything on the net and hardly even use it. Then they suspended my account even though my bill is not overdue. I rang them up and they basically told me I am a liar and I will need to pay the bill in full

I have had non stop issues with coverage and my phone turning itself on and off and not having coverage even in apparently good areas. When I complained they had no issues with ending my contract 4 months early and waiving the termination fees if I sent my handset back. Fine I just wanted out. Over two months later and I have sent the handset back and they tell me it is received yet I was charged the $500 termination fee and it has still not been credited back to my account!!! Hours and hours on hold and lots of being disconnected and told it has to be sent to back of house and will be done within 6 working days and still nothing.

Call vodafone first though and ask them what they can do to compensate you for your time and lost service. If they don't want to help then contact the TIO. Goodluck!

I really want to get out of this contract but was told to hold off for another 3 months and vodafone will give me 50% off my total bill. I hung on and it's been 3 months and I want out of it now. Trying to get to vodafail.com was an effort on my iPhone. Im tired of not being able to surf the Internet and it embarrasses me that I have to ask my friends if I can use their mobiles because my network is not the best. I want to go to telstra!
17 Oct 2011 09:29:47 PM: You gave them 3 months and if it hasn't improved then you should be able to get out of your contract without charge. If Vodafone doesn't want to let you out then it's time for the TIO (details on the how to complain page). The TIO will start fining vodafone until they sort out your issue (i.e. let you out of your contract without charge).

Vodafone's problems started with Ericsson equipment failing to do what it was meant to do, except make the sellers rich.
Here they go again.
It not 4G it's Telstra FakeG created by them Ericsson retards.
LTE-Basic operates at 700Mhz in the USA and Europe, Telstra's 1800Mhz implementation requires custom handsets to be made especially for their network.
This limits handset choice and drives the cost up for compatible ones.

19699 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Premium SMS at 17 Oct 2011 02:03:00 PM
Vodafone is charging users, which you won't know unless you thoroughly check your bill, for premium sms services which are unstoppable. The current code for premium SMS directs that sending STOP will stop the service but with some of these this will not work.Vodafone customer care suggested I call the premium service however after many months of complaints it is Vodafones own service which is in breach of the code. This extrapolates to possibly many hundreds of thousands of dollars collected by Vodafone in breach of the industry code and it tantamount to obtaining financial advantage by deception, particularly children, the elderly and the disabled who perhaps are not as vigilant to this occuring. As a good corporate citizen Vodafone need to audit their accounts and refund the money to those who have inadvertantly paid this money. They should also publicly announce that this has occurred so that account holders can check their accounts vigilantly.

Please don't ridicule me for my choice of plans but I did get vodafone for my mobile broadband PLUS we have two vodafone plans at home. One prepaid and one postpaid.
My postpaid works fine in our apartment but the Pocket WiFi and the prepaid just decided to stop working on Wednesday morning.
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? So I rang and went through the basic "trouble shooting" options and was then told that it would be escalated and someone would get back to me in 5 days..
WHY DOES ONE WORK AND NOT THE OTHERS?? One has perfect signal and the prepaid has nothing..

19666 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is crooks at 12 Oct 2011 07:19:47 PM
on a vodafone web-site you can see a review score of a Samsung Galaxy S2. This consist of 22 reviews giving it a score of 4 and 1/2 stars. Yet no-one can post a review to truly reflect problems with this phones as VF site report that review submission is currently unavailable. This is a false and deceptive conduct as the customers rely on a pre-fixed review and cannot leave their own reviews of the product. Current rating could have been a lot worse especially on VF network - cant get any reasonable internet or reliability. Simply crooks.

19660 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is not honouring original online contracts at 11 Oct 2011 08:40:52 PM
I bought my HTC Legend on a $45.00 per month plan. The advertisment online assured that you would get free calls, sms, msm anywhere in Australia, mobile or landline. You also got 1Gb data per month for the term of contract (2 years) plus 1Gb per month, on top of the other one, for the duration of one year. That meant the first year you would have 2Gb data and 1Gb for rest of the term of contract. I rang after month one because I was overcharged by 10.00 and the 2Gb were not working, neither was internet and other features of the phone. I was told that I needed to ring for the features to be activated. I kept calling every few weeks to describe my frustration with the their service or lack thereof. I still had not received my 2Gb of data nearly 5 months later and was still charged 54.99 instead of 45.00. What the??? Eventually they asked for a copy of my contract that stated I was to receive 2gb of data. I looked but found no such confirmation from Vodafone. This is their practice...to not honour the advertisement in a contract to you. So when you sign up online, your last page does not include the 2gb of data. So to cut to the chase, one of the times I rang and asked for my 2 gb to be set up, they began to charge me an extra 10.00 for the privilege. I continued to complain until I told the manager, at the other end of the phone line, that enough was enough. I would see what the ombudsman would have to say about the matter. After much argument, 2 hours, later the manager agreed that I should have the 2gb for free for 1 year and then go back to 1 gb for the next 12 months. And that's only because I perserved. My son and husband both bought similar deals and do not have their 2gb of data, though I believe they have accessed the Internet since the 4th month of having the phone. Vodafone is cagey about putting things in writing and they still haven't done so for me. I look forward to the next sparring match with the poor sap on the other end who will try to excuse the company despite believing the customer is right.
19648 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Distressing!! at 11 Oct 2011 06:35:38 AM
I diligently check my MBB usage but now my $59 plan is $112 after being 2.6G over. This is despite me checking my usage and it saying different. This month I was away for nearly a week and the service was not used. During that month, the data counter went to 18G half way through the month. VF admitted fault and it went back down. Due to my constant need to complain, they have told me to email them and 'warned' me to stay off social networking sites or face a ban!! I emailed them and was told to Facebook, receive a private email code, and NOT be a queue jumper!!

Follow the advice of this site, log ur complaints in writing with Vodafail (at least twice) if/when they fail to recind/release you from ur contract then take it up with the TIO, they'll have reasonable folks from Vodafail address ur issue (they actually do exist, they're just hard to get to) and you'll get what you need.

19588 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Calls go straight to messagebank at 5 Oct 2011 10:54:31 PM
My incoming calls are going to message bank better than 50% of the time. Often this is in the CBD... but also happens at home (Sunshine)... which isn't that far. My signal strength in both locations is usually full and I know my phone is a model with good strong reception.
For outgoing calls a lot of people have been complaining that they can't hear me on the phone.
It was never this bad before. Only seems to have started in the last 6 months or so. Pity the bills haven't gone down in line with the call quality... but they've always been cheapish. Didn't like the fact that Vodafone put me on contract for 2 years despite the fact that they closed their subsidiary I had been with for ages. Now have to pay if I want to exit. Feel a bit ripped off. As a loyal customer I always appreciated the ability to exit if I felt like it without penalty. Now feel manipulated.
Pity no other company is offering a comparable deal.
The call quality at Optus was always better than this... but the bills were much higher. Choices!!!

19581 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Painfully at 5 Oct 2011 10:10:49 AM
Calls drop out all the time. Can have 4 bars one minute and the next minute be on searching. Have an issue sending texts. Can't get onto Internet as it takes to long unless have wifi. Call connecting takes forever. And the vodafone staff often do not have a clue what they are talking about!
19580 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is epic at 5 Oct 2011 07:38:52 AM
I still cannot get reception in the CBD- every call cuts out . I am so disappointed that Vodafone is not being regulated as heavily as it should. If feels like they are getting away with murder and ACMA are turning a blind eye
5 Oct 2011 11:06:59 AM: ACMA don't give a sh()t. They did an enquiry (18 months long) and then said/did nothing..... they will have to do another one in 5 years time (or less).

I was a happy "3" customer, but now that "3" was taken over and moved to Vodaphone network, i can not get more than one bar of reception in Port Melbourne, 2 km away from CBD. Looking to change to telstra at first opportunity.
19522 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Stuck on GSM at 25 Sep 2011 06:59:24 PM
I live in East Hawthorn about 10km from the centre of Melbourne. To get any viable reception I have to keep my phone locked to GSM, and even then the signal is marginal at best, and drops out regularly. 3G reception here is absolutely hopeless with only one bar which is totally unusable.
Still waiting for Vodafail to provide a reasonable 3G service.
This simply isn't good enough for an inner suburban area, yet Vodafail shows this area as fully serviced on their reception maps.

26 Sep 2011 09:36:35 PM: It might be best to give Vodafone a call and let them know you are having issues in the area. That way if you ever run into more issues they will have a record of your complaint.

19510 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Crazy Fail at 22 Sep 2011 11:42:41 PM
I'm wondering if we can discuss Crazy John's here. Crazy John's own website states it is part of the VHA group. VHA is Vodafone Hutchison Australia which operates Vodafone, 3 and Crazy John's. Many people like me are signing up with Crazy John's not really aware that Vodafone, 3 and Crazy John's are the one company. I'm stuck with a two year plan with Crazy John's not to mention a bill for over $1000 for 3.1 Gigabytes of data that at this stage appears to be due to a faulty phone handset as we really just use the phone for a bit of facebook and a bit of news on the web. Their customer service in cases like this is disgraceful and unethical. They won't give me anything in writing to confirm what our method of bill payment is. I've just submitted an application to the telephone ombudsman. We will also investigate making a Freedom of Information request because we are worried they still have my wife's banking account details even though we have cancelled the direct debit payment. I'll write more when I find out we our allowed to discuss Crazy John's on this website. I suspect as the 'Vodafone' brand name losses trust with people the company will merely continue to trade strongly under the 'Crazy John's' brand name.

Absolutely so service what so ever on the bottom level of Melbourne central shopping centre. Every other network had full service. Non existent to Terrible service on trains even when above ground. Something needs to be improved. Does the 850 network make any difference?

repeated credit card debits that bear no correspondence with bills sent through.
Surely charging our credit card in an unauthorised manner must be illegal??
We have tried to address this with customer services via telephone to be told to send an e-mail which is never followed up on..
Today when I suggested that we would take this matter further and instruct legal action i asked for an official address to send the correspondence to and was given the first name of the "senior manager" and when i reiterated that I needed a postal address they hung up the phone.
This organisation seems to have a smokescreen of customer serve designed purely to delay and irritate to the point opt giving up..
How can a major corporation maintain such a poor quality of customer service???

Vodafail website should consider sponsoring one of the V8 Supercars and placing the Vodafail symbol and message on it. I am sure there are enough people out there who would contribute - I know I would. With the biggest Australian V8 race almost here (Bathurst) and the front runners are sponsored by Vodafone it may be an opportunity for revenge.

20 Sep 2011 12:04:21 PM: that's an amazing idea.... some sports players (cricket, rugby) have complained via their twitter pages - maybe some racing drivers have done the same thing and may be happy to advertise Vodafail for free, as in a public awareness campaign? It would be great if anybody knew a driver if they could ask them.
But we could always get some money together and pay, if this goes ahead I will definitely give $30. It all adds up I suppose!

20 Sep 2011 08:26:45 PM: That's a pretty cool idea although I won't be the one organising it. My goal with this website was to raise awareness for the problems and provide everyone with a free and open place to talk about their Vodafone issues. It's gotten a lot of attention and because of that (and all of you) Vodafone is now being forced to pick up their game.
The fact that 375,000 customers left Vodafone in the first 6 months of this year shows that lots of people know what's going on and don't want to stick around and wait for it to improve. Although I do hope Vodafone gets better real soon for everyone who is still on the network.
Thanks for the support.

2 Months ago, I had no network coverage on my phone, which took almost a week for vodafone to fix.
On top of the usual call dropouts and bad customer service, which I have called to complain in the past, I was extremely frustrated. They advised that the issue will take up to 7days to be fixed. UNACCEPTABLE. and they had the audacity to send me a bill for the month. Just at the end of last month, my blackberry completely failed on me. I took it in to the store and asked to have it repaired. The salesperson said that he's seen a similar case and that it's a software issue, and therefore I'd have to wait a few days. What he had not told me is the fact that I will have a data loss.
The following week, I went and picked up my phone, only to realise that it has been swapped over with a new handset. The problem I had with the phone was the screen, and I had lost everything. Not a single contact number. I was upset at the fact that the storeperson failed to mention anything about possible data loss. After the incident, I got my phone bill, which I refused to pay. If anything, I deserve something for the data loss. I called up vodafone to complain. They told me that they will give me a month fee off for the network problem 2 months ago. However, they can't do anything about the data loss. The man from mumbai made me feel like an idiot by saying it's common sense to expect data loss even if the storeperson doesn't tell me that there will be data loss. I argued, the storeperson is not a trained technician, and he has every right to inform me that there may be data loss, it's the storeperson's mistake and I should not suffer from his mistake. Nor does the customer care person have any right to talk to me as if I lack common sense. When my screen breaks I do not expect my phone to be replaced if I don't get told of it. Then he started cornering me for not backing up my data. Nothing worked on my phone. I couldn't even call out or receive the phone without having the screen working properly. I'm about to lodge my complaint to TIO. I'll see what they do after I lodge my complaint. All I'm left with is anger and frustration.

Well well well... I have to admit that Vodaphone have actually normally been pretty good... that was until I recieved a $480 internet bill!!! What makes no sense is that Vodaphone admitted that since they have changed their internet technology in my area they need to upgrade my USB as I don't get any coverage anymore due to my device not being compatible! They have told me that there is no way that someone can hack a Mobile Internet USB, yet I have been charged for days when I am not even at my house, device is not in computer and computer is not turned on! Customer service was a disgrace, told me that it was my fault, even though I have never used more that 4gb a month in the last year.
Spoke to technical support and gentleman was great and offered me a free upgrade due the coverage problems... I have had the computer checked and no application was running in the background.
Can anyone tell me how this is possible or what I can do to rectify it!

20 Sep 2011 08:19:48 PM: The comments above are correct. If you don't think you used that much then you can argue your case for a reduced bill. Otherwise they really should send out warnings when you come close to your limit. If Vodafone doesn't want to help then you can go to the TIO and they will help you sort it out. Their details are on the 'how to complain' page.

Hi ,
i have just been switched over to vodafone from 3 as i was looking for a new phone and i was suggsted that i should switch over to vodafone to get the better hand set and service .
i was told that as my billing cycle is finished on 12th of every month and i have applied after vodafone afert that , so my plan with vodafone will be applicable from next billing cycle (ie : next 12th ) . and i specifically confirmed that i will not be charged any extra bills then the cap i am on , and i was confirmed that it will not be the case .
But as at the end of the month i was charged 49 $ from 3 and i got another bill from vodafone for 87. somtheing $$ .
thaking this complaint i went to one of your outlet ,and now the story was all different , now when i told them that i have got 2 bills , they threw every thing on me saying that they cant do any thing about it as i have used 2 days from 3 and the rest with voadafone , so i am suppose to pay both the bills .
but hoe will a customer like me will know that i am on 3 or vodafone at that time when i was told that i will be on the same plan with 3 for the whole month till next cycle . when i was switching over i was told " oplease do it it better for you as it is the same company " but when i went back saying i have been charged for what was not promised by the person on the store , then suddeny it bacame 2 different companies saying that , they cant do any thing as they are 2 different companies .
so what am i suppose to assume that the person who represents your company on the store or in the call center is not always right and is not providing the right information every time as it cahnges from person to person . i do find it mifleading and dishonest as the information i got first hand became false and invalid as i dont have a proof for what your representative said at the first place . and at last what we hear from them is " Sir as we can see that this discussion is not going any where and at last you have to pay the bill for both the compnies and thanx for you patience "
i hope i will get better reply for this from you side ..
Kind regards

upgraded my handset from iPhone 3g, to iPhone 4g. No issues with old handset in the past.
Every single Friday, my phone loses coverage 'no service' @ my place of residence. Even to the point, last 2 Fridays, had no coverage all weekend.
Called Voda numerous times, to get no result. 25% discount on bill for next 3 months and a 'protective' case lol. Yeh that'll solve the problem. Called into a voda shop, sim swap, called into an Apple store. No issue with the phone.
Had enough Calle TIO. 12 days to resolve, or bye bye Vodafone...

Vodafone has provided nothing but grief. Their outages and network coverage is pathetic. Their call centre staff dont care. I cant wait for my contract to come to an end. I do not recommend Vodafone until they pick up their game.

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for many many years. However their standards have declined rapidly. I have coverage issues in very popular locations were other telco don't. I have tried to resolve these issues with many staff at Vodafone with no luck. I am fed up with their lack of care factor when you call and speak to their call centre and the managers could not care one iota on whether you stay with them as a customer or not. They just simply remind you of the financial consequences of terminating the contract. I will be writing to the TIO as well as not renewing my services with them ever again.

I was made to migrate from Three to Vodofoney. Mobile broadband service: non existent. I call support, four times over 2 days, roughly 2 hours of hold music. The first three times, "Hello ... anyone there? I am sorry. I cannot hear you. We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later." Finally get through. "Sorry our operating hours are 0800-2000." Time now 2030 (after roughly 1 hour of holding). Strange. Finally get a return call. The usual troubleshooting questions all of which I have already tried. My phone, laptop and phone on non vodafail network connect to the device via wifi. No internet. I was vodafone customer myself and then decided to migrated to 3 and when my contract ended (thanks God), will swith to other better provider 1000%.
Don't be tempted with all those false advertisement, sophisticated mobile etc. they just don't work.

I use a MacBook, and Firefox browser, with a frustrating issue with the pocketwifi mobile broadband.
Internet access to some sites (such as this one (but couldn't use the CAPTCHA so posted this at work), yahoo.com.au) are fine, but reported a problem on Thursday 08/09/2011 regarding access to a range of other sites e.g. www.google.com, www.gmail.com, www.myvodafone.com.au, www.bom.gov.au. Spent 30 mins on the phone and was advised the technical team was investigating with no estimated time to resolution, and to keep trying. Called Vodafone again on 12/09/2011, another 30 min call and got told the same thing, but other callers had lodged this issue with about 500 people affected. Requested them to post this issue on their outages page so people could be updated, and requested a called back when problem was resolved but was denied on both fronts.
They did offer some "consolation"... which was "credit" back for lost data but was advised I would have to call back to request it.
Why would I want to call back again after making two 30 mins calls already?
Vodafone, TERRIBLE customer service, and seem absolutely unwilling to take proactive steps to keep customers up to date on the situation. Regular updates and transparency should be a minimum if you can't provide satisfactory resolution in a timely manner. 5+ days is not good enough.

You need to spend at least an hour with 70% musics. terminate the contract if you can and insist that they can't provide the service and you have the right to terminate the contract. switch to other provider.

I along with others had the same problem of droped calls/reception but chose to largely ignore them; in exchange for "unlimited" calls & text. Recently i sold/transferred my HTC desire HD to a friend since he was so keen on the fone and the plan i got was old school with extra GB data and i was paying out the phone for him; all for getting the galaxy s2. The port went across before i could apply for my 2nd service 10% discount. That made me :-( Ok so my fault; then i rand up for anything for members, was told i can't get 2nd service 1. Then i went in store see if they could match the online deal atleast as i liked the independant store i got my initial plan....he said he couldn't but he could still offer me an ok deal...so i tried online sales chick "Lauren" offered me 10% members discount...then i said ok look i'll tell dealer this and i'll ring you back; dealer told me i should just go for online deal...rang back the girl wasn't available...spoke to another guy who said oh it's a system trigered thing sorry you got told this...we can only offer you 1 month free, then i argued tooth and nail and finally after talking to his supervisor he offered me 2 months free; i agreed ...he then sent me an email with a credit check thing; so i sent my docuemtns back and ofcoure they failed me./ when i rang back to ask why./..they said i had to do a new credit check as i was now an NEW customer; not existing...and veda credit had a hit against my name and also i had made an application & it declined in the last 30 days...which is totally untrue. so i rang vereda credit or watever those useless uncontribuiting people to society are called; and they said ah no sorry we don't do vodafone checks...call them again and ask to clarify; so sure enough i rang back up and i was told...oh sorry the online application maybe was something in our system but no it's just this 1 application and dun & bradstreet sent us back a credit hit...and i am like ok and i was a customer of yours till 5 days ago and direct debited and not in arreas and now i am a NEW customer and you will take some report over keeping me as a customer and having my final payments cleared off...after numerous calls to numerous departments ofcourse these guys woldn't budge...most of the people are fine but in the end they are all robots to the system...i really hope all these people lose everything they have and default on every loan they have and then see how it's really like when u really default. i don't even know what that stupid credit hit is...could be 1 little personal paper bill unpaid from the 3 times i've moved in last 4-5 months building houses...but don't worry they've stuffed with the wrong guy they will get 0 from their outstanding balance and all this could've been avoided if someone from credit team gave me a call and understood the fact i am now having to wait 10 days to get a crappy report that states some measily 100-200 bucks was unpaid 4 months ago...in the meantime i can't port my old post paid number in my name coz i can't get service and i have to harass my friend (more like acquaintance) into porting this number to pre paid and then into my name which will take more time (oh and already it's taken them more then 7 days to port his 3 number to vodafone and it still hasn't been done) i think vodafone should get out of australia...and go back where it came from...if it wasn't for the infinite plans nobody should ever connect to them.
also their call centres staff 50% of the time can't understand things even when u spell them out...i would only recommend vodafone to a dead person.

Iam located in Burwood Vic 3125. Have not had mobile internet since 6/9/11. Its now 11/9/11 and still no service. On the phone with customer service 3 times for a duration of 30 minutes at any given time. After all that and 3 phone calls later I am informed that there are network upgrades for pocket wifi service! During upgrades customers in my area will experience problems with this service. I was told that the time frame is indefinite for my service to be reinstated?! I was told to keep trying the service daily to see if my service comes back on. Cancelled my pocket wifi service as
of 11/9/11. Not good enough vodafone. I have a business to run! Signed up to a naked adsl service with iinet with a modem/router. Despite the great deal with iinet I am still out of pocket because of voda. I changed my mobile service from voda to Telstra and havnt looked back since and have been very happy despite Telstra being more expensive. Vodafone you are failing your customers rapidly! Get your act together! Telecomunictions giants can go broke too!

Yesterday I decided to update my mobile phone from vodafone to another service provider. I've been having problems with my phone since I got it and was told there was nothing I could do about. I've also had problems where vodafone have completely forgotten to send me bills. But I've just sucked it up and waited till my contract was up. Yesterday I was told that to switch from vodafone to another provider I needed my account number from vodafone. I was told that I could just walk into a vodafone store and they could just write it down for me since I didn't have a bill on me. I walked into the store and was told that I had to call customer care myself to get the account number. The staff in the store were not busy, the few customers in the store were all being looked after. And they had 5 staff members on and could have spent the 30 seconds looking it up on the computer, but i didn't question it and I thought whatever I'll call 1555. Luckily I only waited two minutes to speak to someone, but when I asked for my account number they refused to give it to me. They asked me why I needed it, I told them it was for business. Like I need to give a reason - it's my business.
They put me on hold, a minute later came back and told me they were putting me on to their supervisor. I was put back on hold, finally someone came on and again I asked for my account number. This went on for about 5 minutes. They were stalling and refusing to give it to me. I was trying to be polite, but I was so frustrated by this point. All I wanted was my account number - I couldn't believe how hard it was to just tell me. When I explained again that I needed it for business, that I was moving to another network they reluctantly agreed to give it to me if I would stay on the phone for another two minutes afterwards to go over a new plan or network problems. The person finally gave me my account number and I repeated it to confirm. They then started to go into their spiel to keep me on the network so I quickly interrupted and thanked the person and then hung up before they could say anything else. WORD TO THE WISE: because I was very unwise, If you need to change service providers, take a bill with you so you already have YOUR information on you and don't have to deal with vodahell!

11 Sep 2011 11:00:24 AM: I am having this same problem porting to another provider...seems I am not the only one being told by Vodaphone to "port" elswhere.... where do they get the right to order this action.....
11 Sep 2011 09:50:27 PM: From the UK, SAME BLOODY PROBLEM! The staff even went to the extent of accusing me of racism when I complained about their call centres in India & Egypt being ineffective! I lost a family member in a tragic loss and no one was able to contact me because VODAF&(* wasn't providing the services they should be. Just spent an hour on the phone with them, my Sunday morning is ruined and SO UPSET! Can we please do something about this? Is their any one that can help??? Frustrated to the point where a grown man may cry!
12 Sep 2011 01:25:14 PM: Hello,
I used to work in a "Port-In Department" for a DIFFERENT service provider - definitely not VODAFONE, and in case a customer would like to transfer a number that they used to have from their original service provider - and in situations wherein we already have the customer in our line, but doesn't have the Billing Account Number - we normally initiate a call out to their service provider. Explaining the situation and what we need from them. As long as the number pass "eligibility for transfer" the original service provider should (at all times) provide us the account number (provided that I/we can verify the account from them - the PIN/Password or even the last four of the SSN on the original account) this is actually something that FCC allows, since that information in needed in order for the number to be switched to a new carrier.
But you are also right. As long as you have a print out of your billing statement then there must be no problem locating that in the bill itself. That information is normally supplied in the print out.
But just to clarify one thing. Please remember that NOT all numbers from your original service provider can be transferred to a new carrier. That is why we always perform - Number Eligibility Check. For example your number with Vodafone is 111-222-3333 and you wish to use that number with the other service provider, as long as the number is eligible to be transferred over then you're good. But let's say the new carrier supports 111 as the area code, but then doesn't support the prefix or the rest of the numbers then unfortunately the request will not push through as the system won't allow us to submit the ticket for the number to be carried over.

$500 charge for internet usage. No change on my usage and usually only use about max 1g on a 4gig plan. had 5 gig used. Worked out it was the network failing and as such when I was dowlaoding fiel to my drop bos it would fail on 90% of dowload and restart again. Took all day to download the file of approx 100meg and as such due to network failure I was charged.

Ok, so got a e-mail from 3 a few months ago saying they would wave my last few months contract if i signed up to a new vodafail plan. Called the number, and asked to be put on a 45 infinite plan (but with 1GB of data cause the GF has it) they said we cant offer you a lower plan then what you are on already (49 iPhone cap) so i say "ok, ill wait till im out of contract" on the 30/8/11 I signed up online for a SIM Only Infinite 45 plan. Website shows that it's come's with 1.5GB Data, Infinite txt/calls blah blah. Fine print says "extra 1gb promotion will continue till the 30th November 2011" so I add to cart, confirm sale all the time checking it still say 1.5GB. A week later (after Aust air post sent my order back to vodafail, Couldn't find address? Bull!) I sorted it out in store and collected my sim, paid my first bill and ported my number. Signed up for My Vodafone and checked my entitlements and data say "500mb". So I call vodafail...
1st Call: I try to explain the details and female (Indian) just repeats "No, that plan only comes with 500MB" no matter what I tell her, she is not listening. I tell her to check the website, she says "I don't need to, I know what it comes with" I hang up and double check online to make sure I'm 100% with the details... And I am.
2nd Call: Speak to another Indian male who double checks the website and says "ok, let me put you on hold..." 20 min later he returns and says "ok sir, I have confirmed that the website is wrong and you are not entitled to anything more then 500MB" after I explaining how ridiculous this is and the BS I have already been through he just repeats the same as above so I ask to talk to someone higher up...
On hold again...
5min later I'm talking to a manager who again repeats the above statement... I'm starting to get angry by this point so I inform them that it is false advertising and breech of contract blah blah... So the manager says "The best I can do is give it to you for 6 months after that you can cancel or pay..." I say this is BS, im not paying for something that was included in the plan I signed up for. Manager repeats himself again... (This is going nowhere) so I inform him I will be speaking to consumer affairs and discussing my rights in this situation. I hang up as the manager try's to keep me talking on the phone. I call consumer affairs who tell me it's false advertising at least and put me on to the ombudsman, I make a complaint. Now waiting to hear back from Vodafail... All this BS over 1GB of data!!!

How annoying. This has been the second time in two months Vodafone has cancelled my picture messaging services. I was under the impression my messages were sent to my friends, only to receive messages from them asking why they had to download them off the internet and some bull like that.
I've taken my phone to the Vodafone store demanding to know what this and they told me that "oh sorry, your picture messaging service was cancelled". Did I ever ask for it to be cancelled? NO. And when I ask them why they can't give me an answer.
This is ridiculous. How can Vodafone get away with cancelling services without informing the customer?

I transferred some business services from Telstra. To date I have been put on the wrong plan, numbers have not been ported and I have been run round and round trying to get the problem resolved. The problem appears to be the call centre(s) with calls terminating, poor call quality and language problems. I have been subjected to multiple failed transfers. Fortunately having failed to port the services means I still have reliable service albeit not the one I am paying for.

Frankly the ten dollars off for the next two bills is just not easing my anger. Another day without internet in Slodafone land.

VODAFONE IS UNREASONABLE AND VODAFONE EMPLOYEES LIE
My husband drove off for coverage of a significant lifetime event to a very new address in a very new suburb, not findable in either the Melways or Google Maps. The client was to call him on his Vodafone.
When I rang to check the number said "incoming call restrictions"
This was a surprise as we had topped up the day before - perhaps someone had made an error.
I rang to see if Vodafone could help.. I was told (after 45 minutes of constant effort with Dilip who kept repeating that he couldnt help me because I didnt know my husbands PIN) that he couldnt help. I asked for some other way to identify the account.. by say repeating details that only we would know or by other identifying details.. no such luck. I offered to pay more money if somehow the bill was in error anyway.
Dilip kept saying that
a) there were no supervisors working on Saturdays
b) he was a supervisor
c) he was a manager
d) he was the floor supervisor
e) all the supervisors were too busy
f) if I wanted to talk to a supervisor I would have to wait
all of these responses were repeated despite their contradictory nature, and despite my insistence that our need was urgent, and that if our client couldn't contact my husband then our small family business could lose a very very significant sum of money, due to not being contactable, or significant delays in a fast moving event.
I have two major gripes.
a) I wish Vodafone employees would not lie when someone wants to go to through to a supervisor.
b) Vodafone needs to have some way of bypassing the PIN in the case of real necessity such as being flexible about other identifying methods
They also removed my Vodafone facebook post.. how on earth do you get to talk to them in a hurry?
What is the point of having a mobile if you cant use it when it really matters!!

19343 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Harrassed by NRG Solutions at 2 Sep 2011 01:03:37 PM
I have posted here earlier in the year. I managed through the help of the TIO managed to get my contract ripped up because of poor connection performance and poor mapping of coverage. I was very thankful to vodafone for doing this for me. I live in a regional area and Telstra, as much as I dislike them too, have much stronger coverage meaning I don't have to stand out in the street.
Vodafone said they would waive all charges. BUT lo and behold if I've not been called four times in the past six months by NRG solutions demanding full payment of my outstanding $1100 bill. Each time I have contacted Vodafone and been assurred not to worry about it. The debt has been waived. But today I was called again by NRG Solutions and asked how I will be paying my $1100 bill. I told her slightly impatiently this time there's no way we're having this conversation again. After explaining to her (for how many times now) the situation and how the debt had been waived, she finished by saying, 'you need to call Vodafone and then email us'. Previously the woman had the gall to ask for a deposit on the debt. Give me strength!!!
I called Vodafone, they said 'next time these debt collectors call you, tell them to call us'. Surely now I'm not the only one here who thinks that these companies should be calling each other? I mean are we led to believe that I have to do their work for them?
Alas, I've emailed NRG solutions telling them again to contact Vodafone. I have told them if they call me again, I'm considering legal action. This is getting stupid.
I'm not sure if this technically VODAFAIL...but it's damn close to something 'failing'.

2 Sep 2011 01:06:30 PM: I don't mind putting my name to this either...(CONTACT DETAILS REMOVED), Sale Victoria.
2 Sep 2011 01:15:13 PM: Easy, go back to the TIO with your original reference number, tell the TIO what you have told us.
The TIO will escalate further.
Vodafail will contact you and say the matter has been resolved.
Agree this state of affairs should not be acceptable under any circumstances.

2 Sep 2011 03:27:18 PM: They should be talking to each other as Vodafone is the one who would have contracted the debt collector in the first place. It would be best to ring the TIO again and tell them the matter still isn't resolved as the person above suggests.

No worries, the TIO should really be able to sort it out. They get a lot of complaints regarding vodafone but they always seem to stay on top of the problems.
Goodluck!

iPhone 4 - has been replaced once - Vodafail have told me that the phone and sim work fine, yet I constantly drop calls and when travelling overseas, the sim refused to work altogether.
This turned out to be a blessing because I discovered that all English, Russian and Italian sim cards worked FINE in the iPhone - so when I came back I told them to get stuffed and am planning to swap this week.

1.Poor data reception around clayton and oakliegh area's in Victoria on a HTC Desire HD even outside. At oakleigh train station I cant even use the internet, it just does not work!
2. After last 2 pre-paid recharges, my credit will add on to what credit I had left e.g If I had $20 and got a $30 recharge it becomes $50. My free sms will do the same but, my data always resets to 250mb, and will not add on what data I had left. Usual story, rang customer service tried to blame my sim card.
Customer service is very poor, tranfering me to different departments, so I told them they have lost me as a customer so as soon as my credit is used I will be going to another carrier.

19276 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Switch to three at 27 Aug 2011 07:50:36 AM
As usual, very poor 3G network coverage. Kept on complaining for months and wished to terminate my contract because it was useless. I downgraded my plan from $49 to $29 because I said I paid expensive cap but couldn't use it. so they agree to downgrade the plan till the remaining of the contract. they advised me to use 2G instead of 3G. still not happy with this because I couldn't browse the internet, I wished to terminate my contract and they said I didn't need to pay termination fee and i needed to return the handset bla bla. due to busy schedules, I somehow switched to three. Little doubt at first but i know that three coverage in my area is better so I switched and three 3G coverage is better and quite happy these days.
If you are not happy with the service, I think you can still terminate the contract without paying the termination fee because it is not our fault.

*** VHA SELLS MOBILES WHICH IT IS FULLY AWARE ARE FAULTY ***
I upgraded online from Pre-Paid to Post Paid and could select either a Nokia N97 Mini or iPhone3 @ $29 per month & simply ticked the box for $9.90 p/mth insurance. I completed the order online & received the phone a week later. I have had ENDLESS issues with the mobile and sent it for repair, only to get it back functioning more erratic than before. (Naturally I was reluctant to send it for a 2nd attempt) I did notice they sent it to the VHA workshop & not Nokia which is where it should have gone. Hmmm
Whilst I waited 2 weeks for it's return, I did some research online and discovered many levels of complaints regarding the full sized N97 model, which the mini was purported to have fixed. Then I discovered the same issues with Connectivity, Software upgrades and Browser limitations with the mini model also. The advertising said I could watch videos online but experienced "Upgrade Flash Player" which the handset wouldn't allow.
According to the plethora of information, it seems both Nokia AND Vodafone are well aware of the technical issues with BOTH these handsets, yet continued to sell them in stores nationally. (Sometimes @ premium rates)
I grit and bared it until a month later my mobile fell out of my pocket whilst washing up and I had to call to claim my Insurance. I was told I had to pay an excess of $50 if they repaired it (waiting up to 2wks minimum) or $175 if they replaced the handset completely. Now, I did NOT receive ANY information during sign-up or with the received documentation about any excess for insurance, I had simply ticked a box. I was practically accused of lying by one operator & promised a callback by a Team Leader.
After numerous calls being referred from Insurance to Customer Service to Direct back and forth, no one could give me a explanation. I ended up eventually speaking with a team called "WIN- BACK". I explained I refused to pay any excess and if so, requested cancellation of the contract under Trade Practices (Misleading & unconscionable conduct) which had been advised by TIO.
I was told by Vodafone ... "Too bad, You will have to pay the Termination Fee." I explained seeing the handset was water logged it would no doubt be the $175 so if they were going to charge me for it anyway, then I requested to attend my local store and obtain a different model. They accepted this and I ensured a Reference Number to streamline the process.
Apart from a minor delay in obtaining consent in-store (wasn't in notes), I requested a Samsung Galaxy S2 which would require an upgrade from $29 - $59 per month which was refused due to my bill not being paid (per instructions from the TIO until matter was resolved). You would think this would have been an opportunity for Vodafone to not only resolve a customer complaint but obtain MORE business? I eventually chose the Nexus S on the same plan with insurance (wasn't taking any further chances)
I received a phone call later that day from an authorised VHA rep to tell me they were crediting me $50 toward the $175 replacement cost. Whilst this was a very nice gesture, the fact that I have to pay an excess at all is ridiculous.
I am in the process of consulting legal counsel to determine if Vodafone Hutchinson Australia can be prosecuted for selling mobile handsets when they are aware they are faulty. And also how customer can terminate their contracts due to this.
I'd be interested if anyone has any feedback, advise etc. Cheers.

27 Aug 2011 12:21:37 PM: That sounds pretty bad, but if the TIO advised that you can get out of the contract without paying then you don't have to accept what Vodafone says. You can go back to the TIO as many times as are required and each time Vodafone will be fined a larger amount for not resolving the problem.
It sounds like it's all been sorted out now but it was definitely a lot of effort. There is a class action investigation being conducted so it might be worth checking out.

14 Nov 2011 11:30:11 AM: why would they give you a galaxy s2 for a handset thats only worth 300?? makes no sense you were lucky to get a nexus s at all
21 Feb 2012 02:16:42 PM: If you'd read my post correctly, it was to "upgrade" the service to allow for the "better" handset to resolve the internet browser limitations. The Nexus S ended up a poor "equiv." handset after all the VF shopgirl's assurances, so I snapped the Post Paid SIM in half n went PrePaid with someone else. Apparently they hadn't changed the IMEI # so it ain't locked. Vodafone should be turfed outta the country
21 Feb 2012 02:48:30 PM: The goverment should tax them 100% of their annual yearly profit & if they don't like it TOUG! Considering they'd rather have overseas call centres no major impact to Aussie jobs. Then indite the CEO on fraud charges to spend 20 years in jail as an example to other corporate fatcats who want to rip off Australians. Agree???

Ha! Vodafone terminated my account without any notice or warning and they now want me to pay all the money for contract (ie. 69 x 24 dollars). I argued with them for 5 hours just now and the staffs are very rude and kept interfering my word not listening to me at all. I doubt they pick anyone in the street to employ and educate nothing. I argued 7 staffs about this retarded event, but they already transferred my file to NRG which is the company where collects money for voda. Then i called NRG and they cannot help me cause they only know how to collect money. Now I have to pay 1700 dollars for confirming my account termination without being noticed anything from them. So out of blue

19254 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Disgusting at 24 Aug 2011 07:21:27 PM
I am the poor Three Vodaphone user, after three and vodaphone merged together, three customers are treated as rubbish. The retailers, customer service always try to push the customers to swich their plan to Vodaphone, they told you there are more handset available on vodaphone. I have ordered a new handset online, the same day I called Three wanted to confirm they have received my order. They said the order had been canceled because the handset it not available, I asked if there is no more stocks of the handset whyit is still availble online. They said it is a system mistake. Ask advised me that phone is available on Vodaphone. If I would like to swith my plan from Three to Vodaphone, they will more than happy to give me that phone. I asked if the order has been canceled by system, when I haven't been notified until I called them. They just told me it takes 48 hours for the system to generate the message to me. Until today, after more than 1 and half months, I haven't received any message stated my order has been cancelled due to stock not available.
It is really disgusting as they actually have the stocks, they just simply don't want to keep three's customer. Since we are three's customer, so we can be treated as rubbish.

25 Aug 2011 12:31:27 AM: strange how the handset is available for a certain company...this could be construed as unfair competition..
25 Aug 2011 01:36:52 PM: yeah but who regulates competition? The ACCC. What will they do? NOTHING
25 Aug 2011 05:10:56 PM: When you call Three you actually get Vodafones call centre, the employees are told to answer the call differently.
19253 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is i would never recomend them at 24 Aug 2011 07:14:14 PM
Billing was totally overcharged. When I called I was made out to be a lier. Was told bluntly "we don't like to upset customers but we will not be reversing the charges". There is no way the excess is credable but they could not even tell what the charges were for.
30 Aug 2011 06:15:44 AM: Nothing unusual. I somehow managed to use about 3Gb of data on Vodacrap Mobile Broadband when we spent 3 days up at Maryborough for the Home & Camping show, had NO SIGNAL for mobile broadband in Tinana where we stayed (at Ned Kelly's), and NO SIGNAL for mobile broadband at the Maryborough showground, so the only mobile broadband usage. Hopped on-line on approach to the gateway bridge to check some maps and browse some websites about upcoming events, 10-15 min of web surfing before dropping out. Went on-line for 5-6 minutes near Nambour on the Bruce Hwy to check some google maps, and on Sunday on the way back, checked e-mail on the Bruce Hwy (yahoo) near deception bay. With network speeds of around 10kb/s to 40kb/s there's no way in the world I clocked up 3Gb of data. Whilst in Maryborough, used my friends' telstra usb stick as Vodacrap had no signal. Go figure!!!

Mobile internet is just crap, they say that South Yarra has a new faster connection but it's not true.
It failed me when I needed it the most. I have waited 17mins for data connection to start working so I can get my GPS going and find a place that I was looking for. Obviously made me late by about 15mins.
Switching to Telstra for sure!

24 Aug 2011 09:32:41 AM: Contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO). Or even threaten to contact them next time you deal with Vodafail. Obviously they drag their feet at first, but the fines the TIO can hit them with are substantial enough to make them take action.

In June 2010 we signed up for a 24 month contract to get a mobile Internet dongle for my laptop. The only stipulation I made was that it had to work in Romsey, 60kms north of Melbourne. "no worries" they said, it will work.
It didn't.
$15per month for 24 months, not one second of connection so far. Now I am trying to bail out but next to impossible

Work in the city, in one of the larger buildings, and although there is reception at the corners of the building, once you go into the core, it drops off! 23 Aug 2011 10:16:35 AM: Not long after they took over 3, they removed 3's base station at Clear Island Waters, after they did that, signal reception here in Bronte Crt, Robina went from 4-5 bars to 2-3 bars and their mobile broadband became completely unusable during peak times.
Absolutely pathetic. They should have their Telecommunications license withdrawn, preventing them from signing up new mobile broadband customers onto their already congested network, until they have acceptable network performance. Everything about Australia is so backwards and retarded, although I'm quite impressed with the performance of the Telstra NextG network so far, averaging 230kb/s to over 300kb/s on the ozspeedtest.com speed tests. Mind you, back home in civilization, 3G's is being phased out in favour of 4G, most metro and urban areas back home have 4G coverage, and even out in the sticks you rarely get under 4 bars of signal strength, with the exception of a few tunnels and up in the mountains, it gets marginal from time to time. Going to be so great to be going back home soon. No more Gillard, no more crazy spiralling-out-of-control cost of living, just the usual ups and downs, was trying to figure why the hell anybody would want to come and live and work in Australia, but then all these boat people come from places where they're either being shot at, or face starvation.... it's all about perspective and what you've been used to.
