Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

coverage is the major issue. The maps are not true to coverage & having travelled round Australia & Tasmania, find that the signal is only good in the Capital cities & major towns. Drop down to area where they indicate 3g & you are lucky to get 1g.
28 Dec 2010 02:34:05 PM: I agree with you!
On a roadtrip from Canberra through nsw including batemans bay through to Melbourne via Wagga then to Hobart, it was mainly the CBD's where all the reception was.
A couple of suburbs away & you are already struggling to find decent reception.

6637 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Mega Fail at 28 Dec 2010 02:23:35 PM
Although i live in the middle of Belconnen, i am continually experiencing drop-outs.
To make a call i have to retry dialing the number are least three times before it will connect, even then, once it has connected, the other party either can't hear me or i can't hear them.
The majority of the time my calls will go straight to voicemail without ringing.

Customer service (if it could even be called that) is worse than the last company i was with!
The reason why i made the change to vodafone was because of the crappy customer service from my previous carrier, and i assumed that having the shopftonts would be a convenience, how wrong i was.
The shopfronts are only good to convince you to purchase a new handset.
Whenever i go in for help, they tell me to call customer care(less) and that annoying LARA makes me want to rip my hair out trying to get onto someone to help me with my phone.
Then once i get past her, I'm on hold for the next 15-25 minutes, and if that's not enough, the person on the other end tells me to go in to my local store.
Upon reading some of these posts i am beginning to see a trend. 'Pass the buck till the customer gets so annoyed that the give up & deal with it'.
I gave up because i thought it was the norm, I've only ever had crappy service & even worse customer service, so i did give up.

Now that i know there is 'light at the end of the tunnel', i will join in with all you unhappy consumers & help defeat this corporate monster, taking our hard earned money and failing to deliver what's promised.

Good luck everyone

poor reception even from a densely populated Melbourne suburb. When I was in hospital there was no reception at all while telstra and Optus network have no problems. I often got my voice mail one or two days late.

I recently decided to switch over to Vodafone from Optus. Before I did so I checked on their website that I would have reception throughout not only the whole of Townsville but in particular my house. The Vodafone site informed me I would have close to full reception throughout most of Townsville. In the last 2 months I have found this to be a utter and complete LIE with every 3rd or 4th call dropping out and only getting reception in my back yard. Vodafone is a fucking joke. I will be leaving as soon as my contract is up!
28 Dec 2010 02:23:26 PM: Cut up your card and post it to yourself in an envelope to prove you couldn't have used it. DON'T OPEN THE ENVELOPE,, Set your internet banking to pay the minimum they require and get a service with someone else. WHEN VODAFONE OVERCHARGE YOUR CAP, WHICH THEY WILL, YOU WILL HAVE A LOVELY COURT CASE TO SUE THEM WITH!

6582 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is EPIC WOEFUL FAIL!!!! at 28 Dec 2010 01:27:24 PM
I was a loyal Vodafone customer for six awful years. Fortunately my partner and I have moved from Vodafone to Optus in the past month- a great, joyful move!

My partner has had numerous problems with un-locking an iphone when moving to Optus. Vodafone refused to un-lock the phone, citing the old "we can't do it in store, you need to call customer service". Then calling customer service with them saying it needs to be done in store, resulting in Vodafone not un-locking the phone.
I was also told by Vodafone that they would charge me a $50 fee for moving my number over to another network, it was moved over by Optus and no fee was charged.

There were various reasons for my move. For starters, most of the time I had no reception at my house in my inner city suburb in Canberra. Ridiculous. Often I did not receive phone calls or texts.
I also experienced the infamous 'drop outs' during the majority of all phone calls. I found that after it dropped out twice, there was no chance of making receiving any calls at all.

As well as a terrible network, Vodafone's customer service matched it. As my pre-paid sim had been purchased years ago by my Dad, hence the account was in his name, when my Dad called customer service to change the account to my name and give permission to do so, he was told this could only be done in store. When visiting a store, and speaking to a manager, we were told there is nothing they could do and we would need to call customer service. After calling customer service for the second time, we were told the same thing again.

When I complained to the manager in-store, I was told that Vodafones stores and their online customer service are separate and that there is no cross-over between the two....
Upon visiting another vodafone store and speaking with a junior staff member, he changed the account to my name and told me stores can perform this process, they just prefer not to.

I also received stellar service when enabling global roaming on my vodafone account when visiting Europe in 2008. After telling a Vodafone rep all the countries I was visiting and asking if I would have service in each country, I was told I wouldn't have a problem having service in any of the countries. I had service in half the countries I was in. There re-assurance was not helpful. If I had known this in in the first place I could have made alternative arrangements.

In short, Vodafone suck and have done so for some time.

No surprise to us inside the industry that Vodafone finds itself in this position a bad decision was made by majority shareholders of VHA to give Nigel Dews CEO. He promised lots of big things to shareholders including believe it or not to overtake Optus and be number 2 operator in Australia within 2 years!!!!! of course never delivered on his word bahahahahahahahahahaha. His management team wasnt ever able to make profit on 3 This is great for us who now work at the rivals though hahahahahahah

Moved from Three to voda due to poor reception, voda has been even worse than three. Only benifit that we got was not being charged got roaming.

Reception and 3g performance have been very poor in tuggeranong. I have to be in open air to get good reception.

I have been in Sydney the last few days and found out why people here are having issues. Delayed messages dropped calls and not being able to make calls at all with full bars.

I'll give them a few more weeks before calling cancelling my contract.

I have been promised a callback from resolutions and have given them two alternate numbers to call guess what they ring the vodafone number that never works... so i'm calling them foe the sixth time in under two weeks.

Went on a 24month contract with vodafone to combine mobile and internet costs. Since signing up, reception is appalling - I live near Manuka, within 1km of a tower, 500m of another, and can still only get one bar reception at most times. My Internet is slower than Dial up and is practically useless with the majority of the time I have to reset the connection several times to get anywhere. I cannot update my Tivo. Have tried to contact Vodafone several times but no solutions.
My calls often go straight to message bank and hearing people on my phone is very difficult due to very poor reception.

Calls go to message bank despite showing 3/5 bars on the phone, sms messages delayed both in/out, 3G very slow with poor or no reception (even where used to have excellent reception). I have since switched of 3G on my iPhone and resorted to 2G network with no Internet access on the iPhone. Reception is much better at 2G.

Having Internet on the phone is crucial to my work. Luckily contract ends soon and I can walk away from Vodafone.

I was in Melbourne and driving home to Canberra on the afternoon of dec 27. During the day my girlfriend visited her friends and took a train and said she would text me when she arrived back at the station so we could drive straight home. My girlfriend got back to the station after about 2 hours but we didnt see each other till about 5 hours after cause I had no reception and could not tell where she was or what was going on. And on another day, my gf bought the vodafone 3g net stick. I believe it was the dumbest purchase ever. After you install the net stick on your computer you have to go online to activate the stick before you can go online. How are you meant to go online on a computer that has no internet yet??? A few years back I was in Nagambie holding my phone above my head trying to get reception to make a call to telstra because an oversized truck had driven down the street and pulled down the telephone wires. With mobile in hand held above my head and my eyes concentrated on the phone looking for signal bars,.. I FELL down a small curved gutter. I felt ok, a bit sore, until the next day in the shower as I was washing my hair I heard about 9 cracks from my back to my neck. Like vodafone reception,.. I was seized. My whole shoulders, neck and back were frozen. Could not move my neck or arms. My shoulders, neck and back were frozen solid. I got out of the shower and draped a towel to try and cover my womanly bits and called in pain to my dad. He came into the bathroom and I told him what had happened. He helped me to get dressed and called work to tell them I wouldn't be coming in. He tried to get me into the car to take me to the Shepparton Hospital. My body wasn't moving from the back up and this proved most difficult. He called an ambulance. .. I had to take a month of work. And to this day,.. I still have constant pain in my neck and shoulders and forever going to the chiropractor when I can afford it, panadine forte is a saviour and all because I could not get reception with vodafone. I have discovered accupuncture, but all these are just a pain cover up for something I suffer with every day. Going to the doctors and saying that I fell down a gutter, sober, looking for vodafone coverage on my mobile. My neck, back and shoulder pain will never go away. The expence on chiropractor and painkillers over 5 years is quite a lot. I also suffer from debilitating headaches because of the pain. No one willever understand how this has and will continue to affect me for the rest of my life. I am in tears writing this.

6282 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is SMS Voice messages at 28 Dec 2010 09:37:24 AM
For the last month I have been sending my wife sms' from my work in Canberra city to Kambah - she gets them days later but having to drive in Woden !, I cannot call her when in Kambah to Kambah calls or to my mates in Kambah or Wanniassa as it goes direct to messagebank - they need to drive to Woden or elsewhere again to receive the messages (that they do not know even exist due to no notification on their phones). So much for my 25 SMS'sI sent Christmas day to friends and work colleges as I only got 2 responses. Prehaps less money on the cricket sponsorship and a bit more on the stone age service !
28 Dec 2010 11:22:48 AM: Update to this one - I did the call center toubleshooting with Vodafail again, they tried ringing my mobile and it went straight to messagebank (yes it did what I was complaining about - and the same with my wifes and friends phones all in Kambah), the call center told me that we need to get new SIM cards as the old ones do not put out a single strong enough for the server?) So I asked them why it works in Woden ? I told him its obvious that its a Vodafail issue. I explained again that if I send a sms to my wifes phone in Kambah from Woden she needs to drive out of Kambah to receive it ! Then the call center checked and told me that there has been no reported issues with their network anywhere in the 2902 area ? I give up !

Originally had a vodafone contract about 4 years ago, but changed to another carrier as they had poor reception in the Bungendore area (a small semi-rural village abut 1/2 an hour from Canberra). May 2009 resigned with Vodafone because the store advised me that full coverage is now available in the area. Very quickly realised that the coverage was not as great as promised.
Conacted the store who advised me o contact the customer service department. Vodafone refused to believe that the coverage was a problem, they said they would test the tower and my phone. They wanted me to put my sim card in another phone - which I had done and it showd that ht ecoverage was the problem and not the sim card. I haven't heard any more.
I am still paying ffor a contract that I have not used since 2009 (and connot use).

We have two phones with VodaFAIL and your can't rely on getting a phone call or message as the call is diverted straight to voicemail (even with full signal strenght).
Having a new baby that is starting child care is a concern as we can't be guaranteed to get the call incase of an emergency.
Vodafail Support intructs to reset the network connection every time, but this doesn't last long before the phone is in operatable. Data access is a hit and miss. The only way we have found to get coverage is to make a call from the handset. Unfortunately this dosen't work if someone wants to call my phone as it diverts to voicemail. Shame VodaFAIL,Shame.
What have we paid for, not this I can assure you, Will Vodafail break handset contracts so customers can go to a supplier that can deliver???.

having been a vodafone customer ever since i got a phone, i have been remaining loyal to them for over 7 years. over the last 6 months (since i got my iphone) my service has been failindramatically. calls failing, no service, internet drops out, receiving voicemails days later but no actual phonecalls. my bf has tried calling me only to have a recorded msg telling him my phone has been diconnnected! I did try and call vodafone but was on hold for over half an hour and after getting rorted last year while i was on a cap for going over my limit (all of a sudden ive used $700 worth of calls in one month?) i didnt want to wait. i thought that maybe it was just my new iphone, but then a co-worker showed me a news article after i had been complaining about it, stating that there were vodafone customers everywhere that were experiencing the same problems as me!

i dont want to go with telstra and optus, i had chosen vodafone because it was an alternative to those two, but now i dont know what to do. all i want to know is, will i be charged a fee for leaving in the middle of my contract due to something that is not my fault, but a fault of the provider? i wouldnt be consdiering leaving if it werent for this.

I have been told by people making deliveries for me that they tried to contact me but were told my phone was turned off, when in fact I was waiting for their call. I've also been told by friends that when they tried to contact me my phone told them it was switched off. I'm just wondering how many jobs I have missed out on because of this lousy service.
I'm not even going to go into detail about the dropped calls, or the late text messages.

I have been with vodafail now for 3 years. The first 2 year contract went well without any issues, now it's a different story. I convinced about 6 other people from my family to join vodafail due to my pleasant initial experiences with them. Since then my brother has cancelled his voda contract and gone back to telstra. My parents will be going elsewhere when their contract finishes due to buzzing noises coming from their nokia handset which vodafail couldn't resolve. My wife and I will be terminating our contracts during the middle of 2011 due to bad reception issues, calls going straight to voicemail and not being able to call anyone even with supposed full coverage. I had major issues with my iPhone approx 2 months ago where I couldn't access email and safari, vodafail refused to help. I have had huge bills for my mobile broadband as the USB stick was giving incorrect data usage information. I hope class action comes of this as I will be making our small protest against vodafails pathetic coverage and service issues. We are awaiting our contracts to finish mid next year or before if I take it to the ombudsman. Vodafail... You have lost about 6 customers and soon to lose a further two due to your incompetence.

Quite a few months back I called vodafone to to them about my lack of reception and ability to use my data allowance. I was told to simply reset the Internet on my phone and it would fit it. Now it all makes sense. At first I honestly thought it was only my phone. In places where I was once able to use my Internet and send messages, I now cannot. I have to walk outside into my street in order to make phone calls and use my Internet. In times when I need to use important sites such as my Internet banking, again, I now cannot. The problem has only recently gotten worse as not even will my data work. This has angered me deeply as I pay top dollar for my plan and what infuriates me the most is the fact that my bills have heavily increased due to having to communicate via phone all the time rather than via the Internet. My phone bills are double what they should be and I am ready to cut off my plan. Getting through to speaking to an actual person at vodafone is a long and frustrating process, that is of course, when my phone does not drop out. Compensation should be given for such appalling service by this comapany. If my phone actually allows me to post this message, I will be utterly shocked.

We unfortunately have 3 as our ISP and it runs terribly. As for Vodafone I have had the usual drop outs etc and after contacting the TIO received a call from a Vodafone rep and was told that they were unaware of any issues with the network(they must think I'm an idiot) they also tried to tell me that it is a software issue with my handset, if that is the case why do other people I know with different brands of phone have exactly the same problem. Why can't Vodafone just admit they have problems and stop telling blatant lies to their customers. By the way they have sent me an email asking me to tell them what the issues were. They should already know! I feel this is just a delaying tactic to stop people leaving in droves which I would if there were no penalties such as having to return my handset.

discount yet, they transferred me to the "discount activation" centre
which was closed. i rang back the next day, and left a message for
someone to call me back. they said i was billed the full rate pro rata
and that my discount would start from the date of THIS call not the date
i started the contract. i got a text message sayinbg my discount starts
from now, so i saved it so i can give it to the ombudsmen when they try
to bill me more than %14.50 next month! the nokia comes with sat nav
which was a selling point for me. too bad the internet connection drops
out or takes to long to load a page, the sat nav is rendered USELESS!!

5799 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Not worth the payments!! at 28 Dec 2010 05:36:28 AM
Been with Vodafone for 10years and the "service" was/is pathetic. My teenage kids are with other providers and funny enough dont have the same issues on their plans. ie: NO service inside my home (have to go outside to make a call - if I m lucky to get a signal), cant recieve calls (have to power off/on the mobile), when a call is made it is scrappy, wirery sounding and basically useless (the otehr person cannot hear a thing other than static).
Vodafone should re-imburse its customers and release ALL paid contracts as they have NOT provided a professional (or quality) service. ACCC.....why are you asleep on this?????????????????????????????????????????????????
I used to believe in "loyalty"....not any more. Thanks Vodafone.

5766 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Just Like Anything Else these days at 28 Dec 2010 05:02:57 AM

I don't think I've ever owned an electronic product of any kind that has worked 100% perfect 100% of the time....!

If we look at Xbox 360 "red ring of death" mess, at one point, up to 68 out of 100 were defective and required repair or exchanging with Microsoft directly through a mail-in service, leaving you without your $700 brand new purchase for up to months at a time!!!

Microsoft originally stated that there failure rate was withing the accepted industry standard of 3%-5% as this was later to be found untrue they are still under investigation for it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems

All up we are looking at around 10,000 complaints here, and there is about 4 million contract customers, plus how ever many pre-pay.
What we are seeing here is about a quarter of a percent, well below 3%.

At 3% 120 thousand customers phones could all stuff up and it would be within standard.

The ACCC are apparently investigating but I don't see much coming from it, TELSTRA alone have on average 5 times the complaints on here every single year!

I'm Just Sayin!

28 Dec 2010 05:08:38 AM: my phone works in the CBD of sydney was using it there last tuesday, worked at the airport, working belco to tuggeranong, the only place i haven't had reception is a tiny bit in mawson, which has been like that for ages, and always figured it was just a black spot anyways, but there's heaps of places people here have been talking about not working where it works perfectly fine for me, doesn't matter if i'm sending txt, calling, or checking out FB!
28 Dec 2010 05:24:08 AM: Not too sure where the notion of 10,000 complaints all up comes from. Adam started this site less than 16 days ago and it averages about 350 new pains each day. Using that calculation, the word of mouth, news feeds and other media sources, it is heading, on an annual basis to 130,000 pains, possibly more.
28 Dec 2010 05:54:24 AM: if you look at the top of this page it has an amount of comments broken up state by state and other, it add's up to about 10,000ish I did point out that there were 4 million contract customers, plus all the prepaid, which hasn't been taken into account.

Either way all companies that provide electronic products and services have a percentage of customers that experience issues with product delivery.

There will always be something wrong or not working for a small amount of customers, and what has been represented so far is less than or at most on par with what is already accepted as a reasonable and realistic amount of failure.

Any mobile phone service provider anywhere in the world can possibly face these issues, even TELSTRA, it just depends whats going on at the time, OPTUS had lots
of similar problems several months ago, AT&T had millions of customers affected last year with all sorts of capacity problems, and it takes time to fix it.

If you read your contract agreements that you have signed for, the is a perfectly reasonable and realistic clause that due to network restrictions, maintenance or issues that you may be without use of your phone for periods of time and it should not be used as a single form of communication, and this is really cause nothing works perfect.

28 Dec 2010 06:32:29 AM: Thanks for the clarity. I thought the Everywhere total was the sum of all the complaints received so far and that is what I based my figures on, so now I can revise those figures to double what I originally said. Agree some electrical products do experience issues but I always keep the original Proof of Purchase docket as I understand nearly all electrical products come with a guarantee of fit for purpose usually for a year, unlike Vodafone which appears to guarantee nothing may work. Is AT &T is Oz? I would also be very interested how you define reasonable, I am aware of Vodafone's definition that they (Vodafone)use but I would be interested in your notion.
28 Dec 2010 07:02:20 AM: Apologies if the numbers at the top aren't clear. 'Everywhere' is the sum of all the states and 'somewhere else'. So the number you see next to Everywhere is the total number of complaints. Additionally, I don't think everyone that has had a problem with their service will visit this website so there are likely many more people. Thanks - Vodafail.
28 Dec 2010 07:02:45 AM: The notion is that "things just break down sometimes", coverage issues and related problems are an ongoing issue across the industry throughout the world, no AT&T and it's issues weren't in Australia, but it is an example of a commonly fraught problem for network providers
28 Dec 2010 07:15:09 AM: So it is probably safe to say that AT &T's issues are irrelevant, different country, unknown infrastructure etc etc. How about the notion that Vodafone misled current and new customers about the viability and voracity of their network and only when complaints went exponentially through the roof did they admit that there were Vodafone network issues?
28 Dec 2010 07:23:00 AM: It is true that many phone companies have had problems with the event of high powered Iphone and Android devices flooding the market by being offered cheaper and cheaper out of corporate greed! :-(
28 Dec 2010 10:16:19 AM: Hey 'I'm Just Sayin'' what kind of idiot are you? Do you WORK for these THEIVES? Are you in collusion with them? Why are you sticking up for them? Are you SO BLIND that you can't see that this is HUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG? These are just the complaints that have come in SO FAR! AND the fact that FIVE MORE PAGES HAVE FILLED UP WITH COMPLAINTS IN THE LAST THREE HOURS... is testimony to the fact that the common man has JUST FOUND A VOICE FOR HIS COMPLAINTS! Mark my words..... this site will fill to overflowing, because this SCAM has been UNCOVERED AND EXPOSED and AUSTRALIA WILL HAVE IT'S SAY!
28 Dec 2010 10:19:40 AM: in fact... I can't even finish my post because the page is updating so rapidly with disgruntled customers, that I keep losing my place! SPEAK UP AUSTRALIA! EAT THESE THIEVES AND SPIT OUT THE LITTLE PIECES. MAKE ROOM FOR AN HONEST MARKET, WITH HONEST PARTICIPANTS AND STOP SETTLING FOR SECOND BEST!
28 Dec 2010 10:22:45 AM: I posted this morning at 7:30 at around number 5,800... look how many have come on board since then. This is a snowball down a mountain. This thing will avalanche!
28 Dec 2010 03:54:40 PM: i actually work for the OPTUS network team and we had stacks of these problems, our network upgrade team could not keep up with their targets, as our consultants were smashing targets in the yes shops and dealers! it took us about 6 months to get up to speed again and to launch our open network, it's all working perfectly now, go into a yes shop and sign for a plan at OPTUS if you need your phone to work now, otherwise if its anything like what we faced they are prolly only about halfway through fixing it.

We'll all go through it again when 4G rolls out!
28 Dec 2010 10:36:17 PM: ^ ^
exactly. no company is perfect and as the last person said - EVERYONE has problems at one point or another. i have been with 3 different providers and have had problems with each of them. i was in a vodafone store today and people are complaining left right and centre because the heard vodafone are shit. all i have to say is that i never had any service with 3 at my place and with voda i do.

I recently transferred to vodafone and soon learned I can't send or receive txt messages oe make phone calls from my study due to bad service. I have since discovered I can add the dining room, baby's room and back deck to the list. We live in a tiny 3 bedroom house so that's about half the house where reception is crap. When I was with optus I had no problems with service.. We live in canberra for Christ sake! Oh and it also takes about 24 hours for my friends to receive a picture mms from me. Vodafone SUCK and I can't believe they're still in business.

I work in a hospital in Canberra and require reliable mobile connection for on-call duties. I cannot count the number of times when I have missed urgent calls due to a lack of reception and drop outs. The hospital relies on Optus and a number of clinicians us Telstra - they have not had similar issues. It's frustrating but the knowledge that I only have two months left on this third-world network provides me with some comfort. TH

I HONESTLY CANT STOP LAUGHING AT SOME OF THE STUPIDEST THINGS PEOPLE HAVE WROTE ON HERE... HERES THE DOWN LOW...

MOST PHONES ARE NOW "SMART PHONES" THINK OF IT THIS WAY... its a mini computer in ure hand... "My phone freezes, cuts out, does weird stuff etc" Would you leave your computer running for 6 months and not turn it off or restart it?

"Phone isnt picking up reception" Have u taken your sim card out and put it back in or turned your phone off?

"Im not getting messages or cant send...." Have u checked ure settings?

All phone compaines has waiting times when u call thru to customer care... Ure in a queue DUMBASS!!"

Your phone was cut out for a day.. lets all go jump off a bridge because my phone is not working!!!

Last words... all your complaints on here are all stupid....
28 Dec 2010 01:24:18 AM: Hi FIVE
28 Dec 2010 01:27:08 AM: are you kidding mate? do u really think people are that dumb? get over youself... ur not the only one to know how to work some settings.. do u work for vodafone? cos thats actually about the best advise they ever give... turn off, take out battery and sim, wait a moment, put all back, turn back on... wallah! ...... HA! yeh sure now i actually get reception (please note extreem sarcasm) bugger off!
28 Dec 2010 01:31:57 AM: haha sounds like you work for vodafone coz thats the crap they tell you to do before they have actually to think about a solution. Dont you think we would do all your suggestions before calling to be put on hold for over an hour and who is the stupid one posting if your satisfied with vodafone!
28 Dec 2010 01:33:31 AM: Then you must be the stupid one to come to this site to read other people complaints to begin with?????
After all, you are no different to anyone who wrote their opinion here...
28 Dec 2010 01:45:44 AM: Yes people ARE that dumb.... Bit testy there aint ya? hahahaha why dont u just leave Vodafone if ure that passionate about it?
28 Dec 2010 02:43:40 AM: guys this dikhead is in relationship with LARA THATS y he is piking on customers covering her arse
28 Dec 2010 04:51:59 AM: The one point I'll give this guy is that although Vodaphone is up where with the worst servers the sad reality is that the ENTIRE system of mobile phone servicing is crap worldwide and the hoods are making buckets of money out of it

You just cannot seem to get a simple up-front TELEPHONE and DATA service. What you end up with is childish exploitative "plans" aimed at deceiving the user and ripping off his money

We need government legislation that forces every server to offer a basic plan at a regulated use-based price. If they want to offer other plans that is fine but a proper communications network is NOT a luxury - nor is it a child's toy - or a means of "respectable" exploitation handed to organised crime on a plate
28 Dec 2010 07:23:21 AM: Q. Have u taken your sim card out and put it back in or turned your phone off?
A. My car is also running poorly. I will try taking the engine out and replacing it. Thanks for the tip genius. Why on earth should I have to do that on an HOURLY basis just to get reception back.

Q. Have u checked ure (sic) settings?
A. Gee, no. I just stood there are stared at the phone and hoped that it would work. Customer service answer at its best there! Next you will be telling me to "jiggle the cable".

Q. Ure in a queue DUMBASS!!
A. Nobody in a developed country should wait in a queue for 30 hours - unless you are calling a "less developed" country where the call centre is located. The reason the queue is so long is because their are so many issues DUMBASS!!

Q. Your phone was cut out for a day.. lets all go jump off a bridge because my phone is not working!!!
A. Have you ever considered that some people use their phone as their livelihood - like myself as an on-call doctor? Let's hope that none of your family ever need my services and their lives depend on it because, well, hey, I won't be contactable.

"Last words" - I read comments from persons like you and understand why some animal species eat their young at birth, and wish you're parents did the same...

28 Dec 2010 01:40:21 PM: so what your saying is that all other satisfyed customer using other service providers are ''restarting'' their mini computers daily, taking out their sim cards and constantly turning on and off their phones....I THINK NOT!

5539 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is I can't tell how fail it is, most of you shouldn't have been issued with pen licenses in the first place. at 27 Dec 2010 10:49:19 PM
A shame to see so many frustrated people, however from the perspective of a slight nerd - If you research a purchase you'll generally have a vastly more pleasant experience!

EXAMPLE:

The utter stupidity about complaining about the quality of online gaming using a USB dongle puzzles me. Everybody who can google search can find out the average ping of a mobile broadband device, and can see that Telstra can't even provide suitable speeds (on mobile broadband devices) for this pursuit. Hi ADSL2+.

People who think the Vodafone network (or any mobile network) is anything similar to the balloon full of words in the Vodafone 'infinite' plans ad need to do some reading. Congestion in South Melbourne does not influence the northern suburbs, as such a cable unplugging in Perth almost certainly has nothing to do with your (potentially valid!) problem.

I use TPG and Vodafone, TPG has no retail contact, only an offshore call centre. I do not enter Vodafone retail stores (webshop has delivery and a discount- why line up getting angry?), I attempted to contact the Vodafone call centre on ONCE before discovering that dialling ##002# cancels call diverts. I guess what I'm saying is if you want a premium product, you should pay for a premium product - with it often comes premium service.

Apart from that, I would like to suggest that if the complaint includes the term "Vodaphone" the comment should also be removed because this person clearly isn't fit to be engaging in public discourse.

Finally if you DO have a valid complaint- keep up the crying, its sad that this works (see Optus after launching the iPhone 3G and the now (relative) success of the "Open Network") but it will lead to VODAPHONE hopefully addressing it and I look forward to the network upgrades. (If you're reading Nigel, WHAT ABOUT AN LTE NETWORK PLZPLZPLZ)

Thanks for reading my comment, and thanks for a hilarious bit of reading if you already posted :-)

I have only been a vodafone customer for 3 weeks and in that 3 weeks i have contacted vodafone customer service centre in INDIA 16 times, I am not a racist by any means but i ask for them to speak slower so i can understnad them they get cranky at me and start yelling and talking faster. i was on hold last week for 4.5 hours i was so frustrated when they finally answered. When i left my number for them to call me back "with in 12-16 mins" more than 3 hours later i got a call from them. My phone cuts out all the time and turns itself on and off, i have complained and they told me that there is no service issues and as i am a new customer i will have to pay out my contract. I'm furious. I have a girlfriend who works for vodafone store and she is a telstra customer because she hates their service and she is one of there employees
27 Dec 2010 10:17:29 PM: I had problems with my phone turning on and off all the time - took it into a vodafone shop because phone support is shit - after going back 3 times they replaced my phone even though I was in contract and it didn't cost me anything - now have new phone which is better than my old one. I would estimate that about 30 to 40% of m SMS's are snt and received within in 30 seconds of hitting send. The worst delivery time was over 24 hours!!!!! Now that is just plain negligent.

5341 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Bloody hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:36 PM
I have a litany of complaints about the service and the network (or lack there of)

1. I regularily get random call dropouts
2. I sometimes get "the number you have called has been disconected" Interesting considering that usually when I call again, I get through, or get a busy signal or get nothing at all. I have even called my own mobile from my work mobile and got that message.
3. Friends complain that they are unable to call me for days.
4. Often I am waiting for a connection after dialing a number, but when I look at the phone screen, the call has been terminated.

I know it is not my phone - I have swapped my SIM with my work blackberry and get the same issues. I swap it with my old Nokia, same issues.

I work for one of the major telcos, (not vodafone), and can confirm it is indeed a network issue. Probably overload from excess data traffic. ie.. The network has not been properly scaled up.

5331 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is culpably negligent at 27 Dec 2010 09:35:05 PM
For some time I've experienced constant dropouts, poor coverage even in a city environment (forget breaking down on a road and needing assistance!). More recently my setting were mysteriously changed so that I get no calls (straight to voicemail), no notification or record of missed calls or voice messages left, messages received up to 24 hours after being sent... and so on. Assistance was great at one shop where he fixed the settings and checked it... guess what.. gone again then 24 hours later some messages come through. I potentially missed out on work and replying to people to buy the house I currently rent. I get charged for having voicemail and accessing it even though I can't get the calls... and now I will have bigger charge because they lost the setting on my 'best mate' rate. No wonder all my friends have left vodafone.. and I'm next!!

I have two phones on Vodafone plans, and have been a customer since 2006 when I worked for the company in many local Canberra stores. In the past three months the service that I used to rave to customers, friends and family about has gone from sublime to dismal with the calls to and from my Vodafone mobile accounts either dropping out after a few seconds or not getting through at all. Voicemail messages take days to reach me, and SMS can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 48 hours.

What annoys me the most is that Vodafone Customer Care (now located offshore - no Newcastle or Hobart call centres) insist that these problems are very uncommon for Canberra (which they insist is a suburb of NSW), and that turning 3G off on my handset for a couple of days will fix the problem. It's been six days for me now without 3G and I'm still experiencing the same problems.

I never thought I'd say it, but it looks like I'll be heading over to Telstra as soon as I can!

I have 9 mths left on a 24 mth contract.

I have had constant drop outs, calls failing to connect daily.
Messages not received until hours or days later.
More recently phone calls going direct to message bank without the phone even ringing - whilst the phone is showing full service! I have fallen back to giving people my land line.

Browsing the web on 3G on the phone is slower than back in the dial up days.

I am a brand new customer to Voda and they stuffed up my first bill - they sent me a bill before I received my handset and then charged me the wrong rate on the next one.

5169 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Frustratingly poor at 27 Dec 2010 08:47:05 PM
I have a Crazy John's mobile broadband which uses the Vodafone network. For months I've been complaining about drop outs, failures to connect, and more recently wasting hours per day waiting for ulta-slow connections which cannot be guaranteed to stay in for the duration of the message or query.
The Crazy John's store gave me a new sim card last week but to no avail as the Vodafone network remains the cause of the problems.

Vodafone has the WORST reception. I can't use my bluetooth in the car because the reception keeps going in and out all the time. I get text messages up to a day after they are sent including voicemail messages! I was with 3 before vodafone and had absolutely no problems with them whatsoever.

5101 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is overcharged on last two bills at 27 Dec 2010 08:25:21 PM
Be careful if you have upgraded your handset and plan recently Ihave been overcharged on the last two bills with arguments with the vodafone "call" centre that I had not upgraded my handset and plan. I had the receipt in front of me. Latest bill still with overcharges. Spend more time onto the call centre than making my own business calls. Yes and of course the usual fall out of calls that vodafone customers are use to.

5098 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Coverage at 27 Dec 2010 08:24:27 PM
Recently purchased a wireless USB modem from Dick Smith's. The coverage map on the Vodafone website showed Karratha WA to have coverage, I also checked with the Vodafone Shop and Dick Smiths in Rockingham City Shopping center before purchasing the unit. "GUESS WHAT" it did not work in Karratha and I was forced to purchase a Telstra Modem. I now have a useless Vodafone Modem with unused download that will expire this week.

I live in Eltham, Victoria. About 5 days ago, Vodafone 3g in the centre of town stopped working. Still not working. The signal shows full strength but you can't make a call or send a txt. I discovered the only way to make a call is to turn off 3g on my Iphone and it uses the 2 g Network. Also, I've not been able to send emails via 3G network anywhere for months. They leave my out box but never get to the recipient. Rang Customer service and got disconnected before I could speak to a real person. Something seriously wrong.

5017 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Big fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:06:38 PM
Vodafone out and out lies about its coverage in the ACT. Its coverage maps indicate that both its internet and phone coverage is full and complete for Kambah - even when zoommed right in to target locations. However when I look at my phone at those locations I have zero connectivity. I am unable to receive calls in my house and am unable to access the internet as their website indicates.

Prior to my current phone when I contacted Vodafone about this issue I was told that the maps weren't completely accurate and that I would have to manually change my connection to GSM if I wanted to continue to receive calls. No, no hope for internet connection. As a cop out from another vodafone staff member I was told that the blackberry storm wasn't completely 3g compatible, I always wonder what blackberry would think if they heard vodafone saying that.

On the upside - a super old Nokia which doesnt have 3g access on it works fine.

4953 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is OUTRAGEOUS! at 27 Dec 2010 07:45:54 PM
So happy to discover I am not alone!

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for 4 years and only in the last 7 months have calls dropped out, internet disconnected, and reception in my own house been very very poor. I am dismayed as I signed on for a new 2yr contract only this year. I also can't get reception in rural areas where my Optus and Telstra friends can. Considering I pay a premium cap I expect better. I also expect international calls to be included (when were they not?)

I tried to call and complain but "Lara" didn't understand my request (duh she's a computer with a patronising voice). I finally got through to an operator after 40mins who then transferred me to another area. 20mins later noone had answered my call! I sent an email to complain and got a reply that didn't answer my complaint. I replied to this and didn't receive a response. ARGH!

In a nutshell I'm glad people are fighting back! With the help of this site I am going to do more.
27 Dec 2010 10:29:30 PM: before june, international calls were not included in your cap plans. You can have your plan updated to the most recent one in store, so you can at least get the benefit of having more credit, unlimited txt etc. Just might not be able to use that at the moment.

ridculous dropout rate, delayed voicemail and try getting onto maps? what a joke - a blind person would get there sooner than the maps by the time they load, got so bad that I took phone into the store, which said I needed a new sim. Got new sim, perservered for another month - and now that my phone is 3 weeks out of warranty...!!Guess what! It's now my problem!! I can send it away to get an assessement for a minimum charge ofcourse. So fricking over vodafone - I nearly threw it out car window the other day!

With in 2 weeks I had problem with disconnection, drop out and they disconnected me for not paying a bill,
With in 4 months, still disconnecting still droping out, with a new USB replacement which I been asking for one from word go,
Indian call centres not speaking clear english, I have learnt you either start swearing at them call them nasty words you get what you want which was $15 off 3 months.
Only good thing is I'm not in a contract but it's the best one around with out going onto a plan or prepayed.

4844 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very Fail at 27 Dec 2010 07:24:06 PM
During the sales process Vodaphone boasted to have 'the largest mobile phone network in the world', though this is true, I have come to learn they probably have the worst coverage on offer in Australia.

I am on their $120 per month unlimited contract (I often go over somehow) and i could easily prove to have more than 60 calls drop out per month. Not the service I would expect being in the 'top tier' payment bracket.

I have never complained feeling that it would fall on deaf ears, as it has in the past. But now seeing that i am not alone in my frustration, would like to throw my support and story behind this movement.
