Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

15452 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible Provider at 10 Feb 2011 12:59:06 PM
I have been with vodafone now for a year. When I signed up they guaranteed I would have coverage where I would be using my phone. Not only do I rarely have coverage in my own home, have to go and stand outside for 10min trying to get 1 bar of edge! But when I am in the CBD in Townsville with 5 bars of 3G I am still unable to load a single webpage or use google maps on my iphone. I am sick of it and want out!
10 Feb 2011 01:16:01 PM: note everything that has happend, you will have to call vodafail and they will want to do an "investiagtion" so while they are doing that which takes 5 days, call the TIO, its pretty much the only way it will get fixed cuz vodafail dont give a fuck about anyone except them :(

15450 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 10 Feb 2011 11:38:27 AM
I suffered from SEVERE lack of reception, no data coverage & really bad service. So I decided to act upon it and after several calls to Vodafone, hours on hold, emails and complaining to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, I have finally been released from my VodaFail contract without paying anything and was reimbursed for the fees & charges I have paid to upgrade my phone (which voda told me was the problem due to my lack of reception).

To others who are in the same boat, Vodafone MUST release you from the contract. You need to contact them and in your letter you need to give them a deadline, if they do not respond to you. Email the ombudsman and tell them your situation. Vodafone will contact you and will try and keep you but by law they must release you without you paying anything because they have bitten off more then they can chew. They have oversold their service....

Ensure in the letter that you write the following......"I understand I agreed to a contract with Vodafone under the terms & conditions, that I pay for a service that Vodafone provides, however I have not received the service I was promised and hence will not continue to pay for this contract, I would like to be released without penalty and reimbursed any fees paid". and make sure at the end you state that you will be contacting the ombudsman should this matter not be resolved to your satisfaction....

Goodluck...

I have little coverage in suburb 4011. Then again it was no better with Telstra. You would think it would be good at 6.5 Km from the CBD but it isn't. Sometimes calls drop out but I guess that is because of the poor reception and it was no different with Telstra. I have 1 Gb of data/month in my plan. It is impossible to get to 1 Gb because the data rate is SO slow. At least I will never be charged for excess data so it is not all bad.

Every day on the main highway at Lane Cove calls drop out at the same place. I have reported this on numerous occasions but to no avail, the reply being 'our coverage is a bit light in that area'. come on!! Sydney metro area, how hard can it be?
At my home in Cammeray I also practically have to stand outside on the balconey to get coverage - piss poor.

15435 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is billing, customer service, phone repairs, insurance, mobile broadband coverage and LARA are all FAILS at 10 Feb 2011 08:05:29 AM
i have been with vodafone for close to 8 years. it wasnt until last august (2010) that i started to have problems.

i recieved a new phone through an insurance claim. the phone arrived after waiting 8 weeks for it, not only did vodafone not offer me a loan fone they also continued to charge me my monthly bill after stipluating that because i was not able to use the phone i would not be charged. when i did finally recieve my new phone within 6 weeks the phone had to be repaired, then 3 weeks later repaired again, when i asked to see what was been done to repair my phone i was told "upgraded the software", something i do each month myself at home. finally at xmas my phone needed to be repaired for the 3rd time. instead of vodafone following their guidelines of replacing any phone that requires repairs more then 3 times or more then 2 repairs required within a 3 month period my phone was sent away again....no phone for 4 weeks, no loan phone offered, buils kept comming. then the day after i recieved my phone back condensation formed in the screen, i took it back to ask what it was and why i didnt just recieve a new phone i was told that all of the repairs were now classed as my fault for causeing them and that i would have to do another insurance claim or buy a new phone outright, even when i should have had the phone replaced over a month ago. i am once again without a phone.....but will still continue to be billed

as for LARA....billing enquiry doesnt sound like account update....

for nearly a year i have been trying to change my last name on my account yet in store and online and on the phone cant do it....hmmm...maybe because im not the person on my bill anymore i shouldnt have to pay for it???

Broadband coverage....MY ASS u have broad band coverage, my mobile broadband dies within 5 mins of been conected, then as soon as the slightest bit of cloud forms in the sky i loose all 3G netwrok and am back to gprs...which is slower then dial up....does anyone know how slow that is anymore...it means i wait 5 mins for one page to load and then as soon as it does i loose the connection...vodafones excuse..."ur situated in a delicate area that requires clear skies for the connection to be made" or and i love this one "the tower is been repaired...estimated time of repair...unkown". yet the bill continues to come and my service continues to be shit

call vodafone..lara get fucked im pressing 1...account information....transfering you now...
"hi you are speeking with Rakeesh, how may i help you?" hi i would like to talk to someone about my contract please. "certainly let me transfer you to the appropriate area"....BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP...bitch hang up on me
call back "hi your call is important to us so jus hang on and someone will be with you right away...ur estimated wait time is 38 to 45 minutes" ARE U FUCKIN SERIOUS????? I WAS JUS TALKING TO SOMEONE!

vodafone used to be a respected and well conected tellecommunications service, now its is worse then telstra..and trust me thats saying something. i need to get out of my contract and jus chill on prepaid for a while, but with no phone, a company that will try and screw you out of every single cent you have and doesnt want to listen to you, i dont see that happening anytime soon.

After having prepaid mobile for 6 years, finally went onto contract in September 10. The Samsung phone could not get reception at my workplace. It took 3 months and many many hours (28 all up over several weeks) waiting on the phone to convince vodafone to exchange handset for a Nokia. I now get reception at work. If and when the phone works. 70% of the time, at home and work, calls go straight to message bank. Then I cant even make phone calls on it to retrieve messages. Cant get calls and cant make them. For this I am paying a monthly fee. I cant afford to spend another 28 hours of work time over more weeks trying to get the issue resolved.

I live and work in the city and have tolerated bad service for the last few months, but now I am almost 9 months pregnant and NEED to know that I will be able to use my phone if need be rather than getting the old 'No Service' message(have no landline). I have actually broken the on/off button on my phone from overuse, trying to get it to research for the network. I have sent Vodafone numerous emails, and they appear to be helping, asking for three examples of failed calls in the last 78 hours - I keep telling them that no service is my main issue and they keep asking me for examples of calls. How can I give examples of failed/dropped calls when I can't even make calls to begin with?!!! Grrrrr

I changed from Optus to Vodafone to save 5 bucks about a month before their network crashed and now am having to deal with what they call a network. My mobile data is like going back to dial up internet with really, really... really... slow data speeds and pretty much non existant mobile tower switching. Every time I move a suburb my phone doesn't register on the network to the point where I have to turn it into airplane mode and back out to reset it's connection with vodafone.... 5 bucks...

Have been living back in Oz for only 4 weeks since being in the UK for 6 years and am absolutely disgusted by the vodafone current vodafone service. My calls keep dropping out, I get no reception when I have full bars, I get connection errors and the only way they fix is by taking the battery out and putting it back in again.
Vodafone have replaced the SIM and claim they have no current issues!!!
I'm glad I am on a month by month infinate plan, goodbye vodafone!

15408 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME FAIL at 9 Feb 2011 02:06:57 PM
To the many other frustrated and fed up customers of Vodafone,

I would like to share my story in the event that it helps the cause.

Background: A Vodafone customer of 12 years, I was a bit dissapointed to encounter problems with my service having only moved from one major city to another (Sydney to Cairns). I cannot get any reception at all where I am now in Cairns (Kewarra Beach).

No Option: After letting it go a few months to see if it improved, with not even an iota of improvement, I decided I would finally call to enquire and possibly cancel the account if it could not be fixed. I clearly had no choice.

The Run Around: So I called Vodafone today. Went rhough several differnet voice prompts and still didn;t get to where I wanted. Finally, after being on hold forever I got through. The guy I spoke to (who I could barely understand of course!) told me that he would transfer me to "Connection Services" and if they said there was an issue and that there was no immediate action to rectify the problem then I would be waived the exit fee of $300 on my contract. He then transferred me to a lady in that section (again who I could barely understand!) who asked me some questions and did some checking.

The problem: Finally this lady came back to me and said yes it is an area that cannot acces any of the broadband services and it is a low GSM area. She then insisted she needed to transfer me to someone else.

The Pain: I advised this new guy that I was disappointed that after 12 years of Vodafone as a customer I unfortunately had no option but to cancel my account. He then advised me that I did indeed need to pay the cancellation fee. I protested, naturally, and explained what I had been told by the other departments and asked why I would pay an exit fee if I cannot use the phone?

The Pathetic Attempt to Justify: He said that on his little computer it said my area did not allow access to broadband services but I should still be able to make calls therefore the phone can be used. I told him that this was not the case, the phone did not get reception and I was unable to use it hence I would expect that Vodafone would waive the fee. The conversation then got more intense as he tried to tell me that because I ahd moved to an area where they had bad service that Vodafone could not help me. I asked how this was my fault? He said they cover 94% of the population and that there are just some areas they dont cover that well. I told him that Cairns was a major city and I would expect this response if I was living on the tip of Cape York! Again I asked how it is my fault that Vodafone cannot provied me service? He then went on to say that because I changed adresses that this was the problem and that all services are checked upon time of sign up to new contracts. He said they had only changed my new address with the first call I placed today. I told him that the local Vodafone Shop where I signed up for the new contract took my new details and updated it in the system. At no time did they inform me that I was in an area that had limited reception. No fault of mine that the change of address did not reach your records at Head Office; they certainly changed them in front of me and issued me with the paerwork.

The Audacity: He told me there was nothing they could do. It is not there fault that I am in a no coverage area. He said the best he could do was reduce the monthly fee. I was outraged, naturally, and asked why I would continue to pay for a phone I could not use? We then continued to go round and round in circles arguing and him trying to justify why it was not their fault. He then said the best he could do was half the exit fee to $150. By then there was just no way I was giving in so I told him this was ridiculous and I wanted to speak with a manager or their legal team. He said no and they would tell me the same thing he is telling me. I was further outraged. I said I would take the matter to the ombudsman and he said that is my choice.

The verdict: There is no way I am paying a fee. I only wish I could take them to court as this is the most ridiculous treatment I have ever recieed as a consumer. That's what 12 years of loyalty gets you does it!!! If I had known this was the way I would be treated i would've jumped ship years ago.

Thanks for giving me the chance to rant and vent!!! I only hope something comes of this and Vodafone is taught a lesson in customer service and consumer rights.

Kind regards,

James

9 Feb 2011 02:40:47 PM: James, I suggest you call the TIO about it now, they will take 10 days to get back to you, so may as well start ball rolling now

I've had the worst service this week. Social app's on my iPhone such as Facebook/Twitter/MSN are taking several minutes to load/refresh, or the request times out altogether. I can't even post a freakin' tweet without having to switch my phone off and on again!

Signal has been poor and sometimes this week I've had no signal at all. I haven't been able to make calls from my phone all day! I work in SURFERS PARADISE and live in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast! 3G Network is supposed to be strong here!

I have not been able to receive or make any calls from my phone in the Adelaide CBD since last week. As soon as I get out of the CBD I can make calls so I know the phone itself is fine. My wife is also with Vodafone and she has had the same problem each time she comes into the city. I called the Customer Service line and was on hold for a long time with a call centre presumably in India. After giving all my details many times over I wa informed that there will be no coverage until the end of March or early April 2011. What the? We are talking about the CBD here in Adelaide. I said to the rep this sounds a bit surprising to which he responded that he would see what he would do. He then put me on hold for another 15 minutes only to then disconnect my call. What lousy service!!! I will be leaving Vodafone as soon as I can and I warn everybody that the service is very poor. No calls in a CBD for 2 months, what a joke!
15 Feb 2011 11:20:01 AM: I can't see any reason why an upgrade should prevent service in the meantime. The whole idea of a network is that if one component fails the mobiles will connect to the next nearest base station.

Had a huge mess which I have already listed on this website.

So (thought I had) escaped vodafone.

Now, at teh same time as escaping vodafone my iPhone stopped working. So temporarily switched to another phone.

I went to the apple store to have it looked at to see if i could get it fixed and they needed a sim in it. So put in my new XXXXX sim in the phone and it didn't work. Apple informed me that all iPhones other than those bought directly from Apple are locked to the network that you bought them from and that i would have to contact vodafone to get it unlocked.

So went to the vodafone reseller that I got the phone from whowhen I bought it TOLD ME that it was unlocked as I was going into a contract. Noting that all my previous phones fomr vodafone were never locked.

When I asked them about it now they simply told me that they would never have told me that and said again that i had to contact vodafone and it would be about $200 to unlock (a broken phone remember). So they lied.

I went to the unlock section of the website. put in the details required of the serial nmber of the phone. It came up as unrecognised and a message saying that vodafone will contct me within ten days. From past experience I doubt they will. I also doubt there is any chance now of unlocking it.

I am not going to spend a week of attempted calls, that dropp out or be put on hold for hours to try and talk to someone about it.

So lies from the reseller now and useless phone.

Was teh only provider i had used and was with them for 13yrs. will never return

sigh

We moved suburb last week from Caulfield North to Prahran, less than 2 Kms away,

And my partner and I are both on Vodafone.

We have no reception in house and very low in the middle of the street and backyard (prone to dropping out constantly)

When we were sold the devices we got the Vodafone bs of we cover 90% of australia, so of course we assumed that would metro area for sure.

Now we are up the creek. I work emergency call and I soon will be out of contract but my partner recently signed up to a 24 month contract.

We need help. Vodafone is a complete fail, and should not really be able to claim to provide service, even in our old address our signal was very poor 24/7 but at least useable. We have tried a few diff handsets but they just suck, plain and simple.

I bought a HTC Desire HD Smartphone in December 2010 through Vodafone on a monthly plan. Great phone with all the bells and whistles. However, I have had the words "Limited service, emergency calls only" emblazoned across my screen since I got it (by the way, I live in metro Melbourne not in Timbuktu). Despite numerous calls to Vodafone and even face to face contact with the 15 year olds who work in their stores, still no joy. They have now taken my phone to be "checked" (a process they said could take 3 weeks). A very unhappy customer!
8 Feb 2011 08:39:53 PM: You do realise that they can't have 15 year olds working in their stores right?? Employees need to be 18 years old - otherwise they would need a parent/guardian there to sign the contract on their behalf.
Oh and your phone isn't being "checked" it's been sent to a repair centre

I have been with vodafone for over 6 years i have a 3G doogle and Mobile on a contract for the past one and half months i have had lose of coverage every day while in middle of calls i lose coverage and call drops. My doogle most of the time doesnt connect to the internet and keeps getting error if my 3G bill is looked at i have hardly been able to use it due to this reason i have 2 other people in the house who are vodafone and having the same issue. I am disappointed as i have been a long time customer with them and feel we should be advised is there are maintence issues or upgrades rather than being left with no service and paying for it.

15342 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DEAR VODAFAIL at 8 Feb 2011 03:59:51 AM
Dear Vodafail posters,

As a very recent ex-employee of Vodafone, I want to share my disgust with what has been created here.

RANT 1.

I totally understand people need a place to vent frustration. Heck, why not create a "customer-fail" website for Voda employees to vent about how John Doe bought a new phone and then moved to woop woop and now wants his money back. Or how Jane Doe bought the latest greatest gadget and wont let anyone show her how to use it, instead she demands a full refund and compensation for her "dramas". Both John and Jane will come into the store, rip shreds off whichever 17 year old girl they can find, demand to speak to the manager, who, in all of their power, can only do their best and refer them to higher power (customer care have the highest power). This then turns into a tirade of abuse as they REFUSE to take responsibility for their own problem and would rather post on a website, abuse innocent staff, and embarrass themselves with their own stupidity. If you are signing a contract, DO THE RESEARCH. Its pretty obvious their reception sucks, so DONT SIGN A CONTRACT. You have opportunity at every point to ask questions and get all the facts BEFORE signing, and once you DO sign its YOUR problem if you didnt do the research. I think you'll find most employees are fairly honest about reception in problem areas (much to HQ's disapproval).

RANT 2.

John and Jane Doe "cant" wait on hold for 30min. They're happy to wait 1hr at a restaurant on friday night, but to be made to wait on hold for a company with almost 2 million customers is apparently downright disgusting. Have you tried calling Telstra or Optus lately? Use the call back feature. Try resolving the problem YOURSELF. Have you tried turning it off and on? (this sounds stupid, but reconnecting to the network fixes 9/10 problems and is the first thing tech support will ask you to do, the second thing is a factory reset) If neither option will fix it, you dont have reception! How is complaining or abusing staff going to fix the issue? Still, they will clog the phone lines waiting on hold just to ask questions like is my bill due? How much data have i used? How long is left on my contract? Do you have iphone 4?

RANT 3

YES, THE CALL CENTRE IS IN INDIA. These are people too, and during my stint at Vodafone, I made friends with some of these people. Calling them pappadums, currymunchers, ragheads, curries, bombay bimbos, ching chongs (they're not even chinese...), and every usual australian slang insult is not only unnecessary and non-productive, but DOWNRIGHT DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. They are trying to do their job as well as they can with as much power as they have been given. Do you really think they WANT to come to work every day just to rip you off, just to "steal" from you, just to be "greedy", and to cop such a massive amount of abuse each and every single day. You can see why the call centre is not in Australia. Noone here would take that crap for 2 seconds. GROW UP. What happened to decent behaviour and treating everyone fairly. This is Australia, we are not a backward racist nation.

RANT 3.

Retail staff are always young. 3 reasons... Firstly, you can thank Labour and unions for pushing award wages so high that it is too expensive to hire older people. Secondly, if Vodafone hired more experienced staff, they would have to pay more and charge you more. Hello Telstra. Thirdly, noone in their right mind would apply for a job at Vodafone just to come to work everyday and cop abuse from idiots who cant handle a problem sensibly. Give these staff a break. There is minimal training, and definitely not enough staff to cope with the amount of outright ABUSE they cop every day. Honestly, the sheer amount of abuse employees have to withstand regularly and i mean REGULARLY reduces staff to tears, people have to leave and go home because they are emotionally scarred, people have been physically threatened (myself included), sworn at, belittled, defamed, insulted, dragged through the dirt in front of other customers and colleagues. THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL EMOTIONS. Do you honestly think we WANT to NOT be able to help you? It has ruins relationships, lives, dignity, self esteem, people come out of it with temper or depression. Would you walk in to a car showroom and abuse the salesman because you didn't put oil in your car and it broke down? Give them a break i can guarantee they are ALL trying their DAMNED HARDEST to HELP YOU.

RANT 4.

Dont buy a phone if you cant use it. Dont buy the latest gadget if you have fat thumbs, or one arm, or are 90 years old and dont know how to turn it on (sorry if you are 80 and techno literate, i apologize, but the majority arent). Yes this sounds judgemental, but you need to be real. You dont buy a bicycle if you have no legs. Every phone has a working demo in every store. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY. You cant take it back. You cant take a car back because you dont know how to drive can you???

RANT 5.

We wont access our system when you call us on the phone. We wont access your details without your password. We wont cancel your friends sisters mothers account simply because she said you could. When you sign the contract, the salesman signs a section on behalf of Vodafone stating that we will do whatever we can to protect your privacy. This includes putting a password on your account. If you dont have your password or adequate ID to prove your identity, TOO BAD. Its not the staff members fault you forgot your password and cant prove who you are. You cant withdraw cash or hire a DVD either without these things so why should phone accounts be any different?

RANT 6.

Staff at stores have low-level access to customers accounts. They cant see credit card details, they cant bring up an invoice you forgot to keep for warranty from 18 months ago, they cant play god and ruin your life simply because they can see your phone account. They have policies to follow and this is to protect your privacy and also to protect you from staff who dont know what they are doing. Each department of Vodafone is trained different to handle different enquiries, noone is trained in all enquiries. This means that sometimes you cant get an answer from the young girl at the store. You have to call up. Please dont abuse her, because if she could help, she would. She is not trying to ruin your day, and instead is frustrated because she cant help you.

RANT 7.

Why should telco's be different to every other industry. Everyone assumes they should get more value out of every dollar with a telco. If i buy a toaster and it breaks i take it back and get it fixed. I dont demand a "loan toaster" while its gone, and if it takes a few weeks because the repair centre is located 3000km away I sigh and thank them for acting speedily and I await its return. If it breaks after the warranty finishes, I go and buy a new toaster. If I get 6 months down the track and realise its not the toaster I wanted I punch myself for being stupid and not doing more research before I started.

How come when its a phone everything changes? Warranty means nothing to customers. If its broken it should be fixed for free on the spot. GET REAL. There are billions of the phones in the world, and cramming a GPS, phone, music player and organiser in one cheap, mass produced device means that some will break. Thats what warranties are for. They take time to fix, and they ALWAYS will fix a warranty issue. If you crack the screen or drop it in the toilet IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE IT IS YOUR FAULT. If you decide you wanted a white one instead of black... sorry. You had your chance to decide. Can you take your car back to the dealer and swap it for the white one? If you crash it, can you demand a new one for free?

RANT 8.

Reception sucks. This is well known. So well known in fact that I wonder why you signed up with Vodafone in the first place? Now who's fault was that....

RANT 9.

Do you honestly want to get out of your contract?

Do you still think after reading this post that you have a good case and deserve to be treated more specially then someone more honest and decent then you? simply because you abused the staff more? Read on...

There is one way to do it, call Customer Care. NOONE ELSE HAS THE AUTHORITY TO DO THIS. Noone and i repeat NOONE in the store can cancel a contract on your behalf. Trust me I've tried.

There is one department in the whole company that has authority. They are called the "Win-back team" (or "Cancellation department" for laymen). To get to this department, call Customer Care and say "cancel contract". It is that easy. If you have a good reason, they will cancel it. If you dont, they wont. Dont argue with them. They are having a bad day too now that they've talked to you and heard about how you hate their guts and want them to die.

The next simple step is contact the TIO. You HAVE to contact Vodafone first before you can proceed with a complaint to the Ombudsman. Once it reaches this level, if you have a solid case, you will win. If you dont, you wont.

IT IS THAT EASY.

Why does it have to resolve to websites like this appearing? People refuse to take responsibility for their own problems. They come in and make demands like "this is YOUR problem, YOU fix it" or "I want out of my contract before I leave and I wont pay another cent because I refuse to contact Customer Care" or "I refuse to troubleshoot because I read in some forum that this phone is dodgy"

Take the appropriate steps, and CALM DOWN! If you have a real reason for getting out of your contract, they wont charge you any more money, so if it happens today, tomorrow or next week, what difference does it make?

CONCLUSION

Ok, i went a bit off topic a few times, and forgot alot of what I wanted to say, but the point is... grow up. Stop abusing innocent people. Stop whining because you forgot your ID and we should still be able to sign you up for a 2 year contract with just a bank card. Noone has all the answers, you have to find them yourself. Take responsibility for your own problems. Noone is here to wipe your bums, especially for a $20/hr wage.

If anything I have said here you feel to be untrue, please... feel free to comment.

Sincerely,

P.S. Thankyou to all those patient customers, the ones who understand that its not our fault. The ones that give us a chance to fix their problems. The ones who pay their bills on time every month. The ones that look for help, not for answers. You were a pleasure to serve and sometimes the only reason I went to work each day.
8 Feb 2011 06:44:16 AM: RANT 1 - people have the right to use there MOBILE phone anywhere not just IN THERE HOUSE, what is the point of having it if you cant use it outside your house?
No. Service DIDNT suck when i signed my contract I've never had problems til about November last year when it all went to shit, i couldnt even get coverage in my own home anymore. So that blows your theory! i DIDNT move, so why dont i get reception here anymore?

RANT 2 - waiting at a restraunt is NOTHING like being sitting on hold for 2 hours and no one picking up, restraunts take ur order a few minutes after you get there and u know you are waiting for them to cook it. we are sitting on hold for 2 hours not knowing if anyone is actually even gonna pick up.
- Call back feature, YEAH that would be great if WE GOT A CALL BACK
- No i do not have a Iphone 4. i have a vodfone brand Samsung.
- DEAR GOD those horrible customers how dare they ask unimportant questions like how much data do i have left how long til my contract ends, THE HIDE OF THEM.

RANT 3 - People complain about the indian call centre because THEY HAVE NO CLUE, they dont know whats going on here in Australia they are reading off scripts and have NO IDEA. plus half the time you CANT understand there accent, its not there fault its just really hard to understand. i feel rude asking them to repeat themself about 5 times every minute. thats one of the main reasons i dont like ringing up. coz i know im going to have trouble talking to them.

RANT 3 PART2 (u put 2 rant 3's by the way) - welcome to the real world,i work in retail its not just phone companies that get abuse EVERYONE gets abuse in retail its part of the job, deal with it or quit. You wouldnt have so many compaints if you fixed your fucking network problems and your useless website and answered your phones.
8 Feb 2011 06:48:28 AM: RANT 5 - HAhahaha Protect our Privacy?!?!?! How about when you leaked our details on the internet?

RANT 6 - well what the fuck can they do?! they have no problem taking our details and signing us all up, but then the minute u dot the pen they suddenly cant do anything. People come into the stores complaining coz they CANT GET THROUGH to the phone number u give us. people are frustrated and need someone to help them, where else are they supposed to go? You would assume people in the VODAFONE store could help you. GUESS NOT!!
8 Feb 2011 06:53:13 AM: RANT 7 - coz when you take ur toaster to get fixed they fucking fix it quickly. they dont stuff you around for weeks before you can ever send it in. PLus toasters are like $20. People pay over $79 a month to use there phone and dont get service. Plus the people who fix your toaster wouldnt charge you money while u dont even have your toaster.
if they cant get get new phone if they get it wet then what the fuck are they paying insurance for?

RANT 8 - YES IT DOES. but when i signed up it didnt suck as much as this.
there you go you admmitted it sucks so that is fraud that you are signing people up still with the promise of reception. take a look at your coverage maps. THEY ARE BLATANT LIES
People are paying you money to be able to make calls and connect to internet, dunno about you but i cant do either of those things. so why should i keep paying you???
8 Feb 2011 06:59:34 AM: RANT 9 - yeah that WOULD be great, but have you tried calling that number, you sit on hold for hours then the calls drop out. people dont ring you back.
You get told there is no cancellations team.
Websites like this bring us all together to show how fucking rediculous Vodafone is. WHy are you here?!?!?! go make your I LOVE VODAFAIL website if u feel so strongly. then im sure you would complain to the people who come and write bad comments about it. am i right?
they wont charge you more money HAHAHAHAH what a laugh, just read half the comments on this board. they charge you rediculous amounts to get out of the contract. why do u think people are stuck on them?

maybe you should grow up?
Your company is a joke.
8 Feb 2011 07:05:50 AM: oh sorry...ex-company. if you loved it so much why didnt you stay
8 Feb 2011 09:12:53 AM: if any of you actually cared to read it properly. I simply said three things:

1. stop abusing staff who have no power to fix your problem
2. yes... the network sucks, get over it and leave vodafone. ITS NOT THAT HARD.
3. you HAVE to call customer care to cancel.

All you have shown in your reply is that you are still unable to process information properly and instead would rather hurl abuse yet again. Cancelling is as easy as collecting the information you need and calling the correct department, waiting on hold for a few minutes (the longest time i ever had to wait for cancellations was 15min, yes I called customer care about 10 times a day), and then stating your case. If they dont fix it you go to the TIO. IT IS EASY so stop being useless and follow the procedure I have just outlined to you. I did quit. I hated working for Vodafone. All I did was deal with you have now confirmed to be useless idiots who would rather sit on a forum and abuse the hell out of someone you dont even know, then simply call up and cancel. All I did was offer the best solution to getting out of your contract from having experience dealing with this every day and asking you to stop abusing staff who are my friends and real people, and you turn around and abuse me without even giving it a go... and then you ask ME to grow up...
8 Feb 2011 09:31:41 AM: Hi, we have tried to explain the procedure for getting out of your contract as clearly as possible on the 'how to complain' page. Unfortunately following this procedure can be time consuming and may take weeks if you have to contact the TIO. However it is well worth it if you are in a contract and want to switch carriers.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
8 Feb 2011 09:40:40 AM: So staff wait on hold with all the rest of us trying to get through for cancellations? True or false that is a ridiculous notion.
8 Feb 2011 12:12:58 PM: when i signed my contract the reception did not suck...i also did not know that i would be moving to a town vodaphone cannot cover...we are not stupid and some of us have been polite and kind to staff...but what exactly is the point of a store if noone in there can do anything except say call 1555??
8 Feb 2011 12:31:00 PM: Easy.......they can sell you more plans and then make commission.
8 Feb 2011 12:50:43 PM: To the dickhead former Vodafail employee - do you understand that this is not the site to talk about how all users are wrong. This is the typical attitude of your pathetic company. Don't advertise all these great aspects of your company if your reception sucks - why don't you advertise the truth. Our reception is shit, but we will take your money. The dumb arse 17 year old staff should say that - our service is shit do you want to sign up anyway. But no, you don't say that, you are all too greedy earning as much commission as you can. You are taking money under false pretences - so you deserve whatever you get. There are plenty of other jobs out there with reputable companies - no one is forcing you to stay in these jobs. Take your whining sad story and tell someone who cares!! Loser.
8 Feb 2011 04:27:37 PM: The OP's post and subsequent reply he/she made at 8 Feb 2011 11:12:53 AM, shows me the type of attitude that Vodafone staff have. Actually with that type of piss poor attitude I am surprised he/she is not part of the management team as that seems to be the type of attitude they display as well.
8 Feb 2011 04:30:28 PM: 30 minute wait on the phone for an answer would be heaven. Try 1 hour 45 minutes & then have the call canceled!!!!
9 Feb 2011 08:30:41 AM: I have to agree with the OP on their point about treating staff with courtesy and as you would like to be treated yourself. I have found that I get excellent service from any industry (including Vodafone) by being polite, explaining issue/query/complaint calmly, and asking questions rather than yelling/threatening/abusing people. The old virtues of patience and respect have been taken down a back alley and beaten to death by the NOWNOWNOWIWANTIWANTIWANTMEMEMEMEME attitude spewed forth from the media who's only interest is your money. Yes waiting on hold is frustrating, yes you want your problem solved, but the person you eventually get to talk to is an employee who doesn't make the decision about how many staff are employed in the call centre. It's not their fault. Have some compassion on these poor people and you'll find they actually DO WANT to help you and will probably empathise with you about your issue. Oh, and screw you Vodafone corporation.
9 Feb 2011 10:16:15 PM: Rant 3, part 2; "Firstly, you can thank Labour and unions for pushing award wages so high that it is too expensive to hire older people"
This is not an ALP conference.
But yeah, maybe we should compete with the Indians on $2 a day so Vodaphone can afford to get their act together. Would management consent for competitive salaries like those?
We clearly need more regulation to keep ratbags like your fucking company in line.
10 Feb 2011 10:14:21 AM: ""Sincerely"""" why dont you get a new job, which you clearly have!

1) Would you pay for a service when you are not receiving its full potential? I don't think so! I asked Vodafone staff questions when i signed my contract not once did the staff disclose to ME that Vodafone are doing upgrades in my area or upgrading their towers!
2) unfortunately everyday day life people constantly get abused and be-littled if you need to have time off due to emotional scarring, HARDEN THE FUK UP! Emotional scars are when you have been beaten or raped, so dont you dare say that Vodafone staff have emotional scarring you wouldnt know what the fuck your talking about!
3) IS YOUR PHONE SERVICE WITH VODAFONE?????
4) we have the right as a consumer and customer to challenge when we are not getting a fair deal and cancel our contract, look at this website have you read every single comment on this website about issues that Vodafone customers are faced with? NO didnt think so
5)We cannot understand the Indian call centre because they go around in circles in what they are saying this is by no means being racist.
6) Find something contructive to do with your time.

7) YOUR SINCERELY MELANIE PHELAN, PERTH WA

3:30pm-4pm NO SERVICE AT ALL!! Rang up support and they are of no help as they insist service is working. I am on the business plan too! How can anyone running a business with a mobile network that has no reception in South Perth??
8 Feb 2011 09:45:17 PM: No reception in Perth CBD area at various times thruout the last 2-3 days, suspect possible tower upgrade.

As a workaround change your phones to 2G and it should come back.

Signed up to 2yr contract about 4 months ago. Had serious network fail issues since - couldn't make or receive a single call on Christmas Day, New Years or Australia day....nice! COntacted Vodafone by e-mail, they actually called back a couple of days later, gave me one month contract fee credit and said issues were fixed. They weren't! If anything, dropouts etc are getting more frequent. I looked at the upgrade section VF website, no upgrades due in my area in Q1 2011 so unlikely to improve. Sent them another e-mail two weeks ago saying issues not fixed. No reply yet. Sent them another e-mail today but will be lodging issue with TIO and looking to cancel contract and go with another provider.

I have managed to get out of my contract 7 months into it, due to bad coverage and upgrades in my area which was never disclosed to me when I signed my contract.

A big thanks to the TIO, they have been a great help and have also helped me with Vodafone resolutions, I was able to port out of my contract with no costs... Yet.. I say Yet!!

only issue at the moment is that my Iphone 3/16g is locked with Vodafone and in one of my conditions with my complaint I asked that I keep my handset and that it be unlocked, Vodafail did agree, but I am having major issues with the handset at this stage and I am unable to put another carriers sim card in to it.

I will try my last resort which is restoring it back to its factory settings via I-tunes, this is supposed to unlock your handet??? how im not sure.

If anyone else is having the same issue as me would be great if you could advise me where to go from here.

Cheers

Called 3 Customer Care, who were experiencing "abnormally high call volumes" (again?!)
I repeated my name and date of birth to six different people.
I got told the obvious ("there shouldn't be a problem with your service").
I followed their instructions to reset my iphone settings (losing my carefully ordered apps into an alphabetical mess, didn't help).
I downloaded and installed new software (didn't help).
... then after TWO HOURS AND NINE MINUTES the guy told me that there was nothing wrong with the network and that it must be my SIM card, i needed to go to a local 3 store, get a new SIM and if it still didn't work, to call him back... because i have nothing better to do with my time.
9 Feb 2011 08:13:18 PM: ...it must be your SIM card...

Man, they must be confused way beyond perception. SIM card is just a storage of ones ID and mobile number, nothing more. Once the device gets connected to the network it does not even use the SIM, virtually you can even remove it if the device allows it.

Jeez, day in and day out, we are discovering more ways of ignorance Vodafone can come up with.

Everyone, who reads this, if they ever tell you the problem is in SIM card, simply tell them you're not stupid and if they have nothing else to say then you know your next step...

Got a second month-to-month sim Nov because I was going over my mobile broadband data allowance. Unbeknownist to me (until it was waaaaay too late) it wasn't linked to my main account so even while I was religiously checking my usage, I managed to rack up $270 in excess usage fees ... and the account wasn't being paid as I just use my vodafone, I don't pay attention to the emails (have learned that lesson!) I didn't even find out until I went into the store about something else... what's stupid is I'm probably the only one so happy with their pocket wifi coverage I use up to 20 gb a month on it... it's their customer service & systems that let them down :( (@meinmelb on twitter)

yay! just ported my number over to Telstra after being let out of my vodafail contract 7 months early due to all the issues i was having. :D happy days! First thing the guy in telstra shop said when i told him i was with vodaphone "oh im sorry!" lol.
So yeah, dont give up!! If you arnt getting service dont put up with i...t.
Also when trying to port my number we had to ring the vodafone call centre while in telstra shop to get my account number, after 7 minute wait and no one answering, i ended up walking to the vodafone shop in the same shopping centre and was standing there waiting for a good 10 minutes while 2 customers in front of me were complaining about having no coverage. one of them was on a $79 plan and let me tell you she wasnt happy !! Another one was in there after being on hold for 2 hours and getting the call back option and was never called back. the staff was just like nothing we can do you have to ring up. wow so helpful. Telstra staff were ALOT more helpful and took the time to sit down with me and explain everything about my new contract and showed me how to use my new phone. Ported my number within 2 minutes. and then she even took the time to get all the contacts off my vodafone sim and put them on the telstra one. VERY appreciative as last time i was in vodafone and they told me it was a sim issue they didnt save my contacts and it deleted them all. wasnt impressed!!!
8 Feb 2011 07:31:08 AM: Congratulations on getting out of your contract! I'm sure it took a lot of hard work but it's definitely worth it. A small investment of time and energy in order to make calls 7 months early.

15311 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unacceptable at 7 Feb 2011 12:31:33 PM
I am being sent information that is incorrect - I know this because I am not being sent regular statements. I complained about this - a year ago (after yes, having ''Lara'' on the other end of the line) and apart from me, The Customer, not having the time, like any of us, I felt Raped of endless money that is being paid without receiving regular statements which are always over the amount I signed up for. . I am in pain with confusion and I cannot even speak to a real person.

In the last year I have consistent network coverage issues. Consistent - my friends can only get hold of me on certain occasions and when they do, the phone cuts out. These are in areas of the CBD, the Eastern suburbs, Pyrmont and Botany !!!!!!

I will never have another contract with Vodafone for as long as I still breathe - plus, I'm a walking advertisement if a LITTLE is given in a quantitative way! So.... goes to show ...I've got to go get on the line to Voda Frrrrr

Poor reception...even in my own house! No reception interstate. (Melbourne) delayed sms by up to 3 days. (xmas time) Signed up for a $69 cap and am charged twice that each month. Barely use ph, as it works out at approx 1.13 per minute. Not at all what I expected. Way too frustrating. Have changed companies now.

Staying in Mona Vale Sydney-using wireless pocket wifi. Pages not opening-took 10 minutes for a tiny GIF to open this morning. Safari hanging opening any page. Vodafone asking me for password a few times a day. I bought this so I could travel and upload photos on photography website and it is NOT working...using Telstra on iphone and same pages open in an instant-same with network where I'm staying.

Poor coverage at my house. Having to have private and business phone calls on my front lawn.

Being given access to the internet, but being in the CBD of Perth and having poor or no reception "no active cellular network" comes up regularly.

Calls cutting out from someone 30 metres away while working and using vodafail to vodafail to communicate, or in this case not communicate.
7 Feb 2011 06:36:49 AM: they told me that they only guarantee service at my home location???? still dont have that either... no point in having a moble phone if you can not use it out side of the house

Sick and tired of the drop out rate of my calls in my own home. The signal strength in my area has been getting steadily worse since moving into my present home 5 years ago. How can I get dodgy (at best) reception in one part of my home, walk 3 metres and get no reception at all? NOT GOOD ENOUGH VODAFONE!!!! All I get is a poor excuse that the style of building I live in affects signal strength - WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS!!!! I had excellent reception here in previous years and it has been getting steadily worse. Can't wait for my plan to end so I can go to a more reliable network.

15254 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Unfit for purpose under the trade practices act at 5 Feb 2011 06:57:10 PM
I recently decided to go the whole hog and buy a high end phone, the google nexus. As my current provider 3 had no android phones on offer I changed to Vodafone. I had had very good experiences with vodafone in the past so I had no qualms about changing back especially given that they were now the same company.

However the smart phone I was sold is dumb. It does not implement the SMS protocol correctly. When the phone runs short of memory (at 20MB of free memory mind you) it does not have space to store an SMS (160 characters/bytes), it SHOULD be able to fit 125,000 SMSes into that space. Instead of following the protocol specifications for SMS and telling the network "I have no memory now" so the network stores the SMS, my dumb phone accepts the SMS and throws it away leaving me a message on the screen to the effect that it threw away an SMS due to lack of memory. That's just great because the sender will get a delivery confirmation if they asked for one and think I got the message, and despite having a PhD in software the software on this phone gives no clear indication of what exactly is filling my memory up so I can't easily fix it except by randomly removing the very software (large programs) for which I chose to pay the extra to buy a "smart" phone in order to be able to run.

Other faults in the SMS implementation on the phone include: Turning the phone on makes it resend several (I've never been able work out just how many) recent SMSes I've sent. This irritates and confuses my contacts. Thank god they are being sent to their original recipients and not to each other! When an SMS appears on the screen it offers delete and reply icons. However if I press reply, the SMS is sending forever, whereas if I go into the SMS application separately and send a message to the sender, it is sent. I have wasted heaps of money and time copying and pasting these "forever sending" SMSes.

I also bought the phone to be able to read internet on the train, and pay a high plan to get 1MB of included data. Well about 35% of the time the data connection breaks before the full page is loaded. More retries, more data used for the SAME incomplete service. And it is not from the train acting as a Faraday cage, today I walked to the markets here in central Adelaide, and there - in the open air - half the pages I tried to access failed to even be delivered.

To add insult to injury I now find on my last bill that Vodafone has been charging me an outrageously high 4 cents for SMS delivery receipts. These should be free because they are a natural part of a COMPLETE protocol, it's like charging extra to have the called party's phone ring in addition to charging for the call itself. Also with the substandard network combined with the broken and incorrect SMS software, it is the only way I can tell that and SMS I send has actually been sent. I cannot believe what the software tells me and I do not trust the network to work.

In no way happy Jan, and instead of Senator Stephen Conroy wasting his time and our money trying to censor the internet like the Chinese or Egyptians, he should be doing his job and making sure that basic network services are being provided.
6 Feb 2011 12:31:09 AM: So you invested in what your calling a smart phone, a Google Nexus in fact. A phone only available online, not in stores... You didn't think to do a little research first to see if it would have the advanced SMS options you were after? Instead you got it, and now blame Vodafone for a phone not made by them not having the features you didn't research...
6 Feb 2011 07:43:13 AM: To the OP: where did you buy your phone from?
7 Feb 2011 09:11:01 PM: You're at fault here by not researching the phone. And by the way, 3 have numerous smartphones with an Android operating platform. Did you research this or just assume? 3 and Vodafone both sell the HTC Desire HD...a great phone! Just a shame the network is so crap.
15 Feb 2011 11:39:15 AM: To answer your questions: a) What advanced SMS options? Nothing I am talking about is anything but the basic specification: sending, receiving and end to end receipt are all part of the basic protocol they are all things the most basic phones get right although a few do not implement the SMS receipt. The google nexus has all these features, they just don't work reliably. And I do blame Vodafone. I've been to conferences where vodafone, 3 and others claim to test the handsets with their networks before they sell them.
b) I bought it from the Australian Vodafone shop online.
c) I did research the phone in multiple ways. You just do not expect such basic parts of the phone's software not to work. 3 might NOW have numerous phones with the Android system, at the time I bought they only had a cheap and nasty LG which I played with at their store and felt less than robust. Also at the time the Desire was exlusive to Telstra on a $80 or $90 plan. Given the nexus and HTC Desire are basically the same phone with slightly different buttons at the bottom the reviews were good.

Given the Android software architecture, there really is no excuse for not having updated this most basic of phone software to working versions. It's the same as having a jet engine explode in midair when the Airplane / Engine specification says that the engine will contain any failure within itself and jettison any debris rearward, or to have a bridge fall down when you walk over it. Failure to meet the specification is completely unprofessional and quite unheard of. OP

I was at bondi junction, I couldnt get a reception, then I went on the internet and it gave me the message that I was overseas, and that I would have to pay to use it. I didn't see the message until I had already used it so that means I have to pay. Then I went to coogee and I didn't get any reception, even though the messages finally sent after 5 minutes, the person I sent them to didnt get it. I thought what would happen if I needed to call 000 and I had no reception. appalling service vodafone.

No 3G coverage at home in Griffith (line of sight to Parliament House), at none at the caffs in Manuka, none at my office in Phillip, none at my mum's in Lyneham.

Frequent drop outs and/or no signal. No signal when I'm riding to work. Epic fail.

Just got moved across from 3 to finish up my contract (because of crap coverage and being hit with massive 'roaming' charges every time the network dropped out). I wasn't prepared for just how appalling this would be. Apart from when I'm on wifi networks, I don't think I've actually been able to use the smartphone capabilities of my phone at all. Hopeless.

15243 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very inconvenient at 5 Feb 2011 07:19:50 AM
I have already said my own problems on here... but....

..there are many others who, surprisingly, haven't seen this website and won't complain...

My barber didn't respond to my email asking for an appointment for 3 days. When I went in I asked how come it took so long, he said his internet was down. Curious, I asked who is ISP was..... guess who?

My friend couldn't contact her boyfriend at the Australian Open, and so missed 1 hour of the match they went to see because they couldn't find each other. He had no phone reception in the middle of Melbourne. Funny, can you guess who his mobile is with?... She also tried calling his mate, who was with him. She couldn't get through. Guess who he was with?....

I know for a fact that none of these people had even heard of vodafail, piper alderman, or the TIO, despite the media attention and them all being very switched on people.

I'm not faulting this website, or the awareness of my friends, but simply saying there are a LOT of people out there who've been screwed by vodafone who haven't even complained. The 15,000 who've voiced their anger on this site are just the tip of the iceberg.
5 Feb 2011 07:30:34 AM: We are fully aware that the majority of people do not know about this website and nor do they post on online blogs /forums / websites. There is nothing more we can do to promote the site and it has gained more media attention then alot of sites.

This site was created to show those who do browse the web post on blogs / forums / websites that they are not alone. I think 15,000 people are now aware that may not have been aware before this site was made.

Those 15,000 customers represent a huge sample size of Vodafone customers and we can only imagine how large the number of people affected really is.

5 Feb 2011 08:47:35 AM: Does that 15,000 include people like me, who "share their experience with vodafone", only to have my posts deleted and my iPhone 4 (which was so effective at posting my day to day activities using the Vodafone network) that you blocked it?

Any way maybe someone will get to read this before you delete is so they know what kind of person you are.

meanwhile as I drove from Brisbane to Campbelltown 1024 km 14 hours I:-

Checked into Foursquare 47 times uploaded 17 photo's

Checkeed into Facebook 18 times and uploaded 9 photo's

Videocalled on Skype for 27 mins

Talked on the phone for 2 hours 35 minutes

Sent 24 SMS and MMS messages

As a customer I've honestly had very few issues. What few issues I've had have been in the last month or two but my service is still very usable.

As an employee I'm happy to see people go to another carrier. I get most of my commission from customers coming to vodafone, not from customers who are with vodafone already. I'm also privy to information about plans that will have the network close to if not equal to Telstra's network quality by the end of 2012, just when everyone who is leaving Vodafone now will be off their contracts. We'll see how long people's memories are when Vodafone not only has the best plans but a great network to back them up.
29 Jan 2011 07:49:43 PM: Bahahahahahahahahaha, Vodafone will never be good as Optus let alone as good as Telstra.

Last time I was with Optus their network used to die, right on the dot of 8 when 'Yes' time would kick in...

"All lines to the area you are calling are busy" it used to take five or six tries to get through, it improved a bit with the olympics but not enough to stop me switching to Vodafone, my bills used to run at $600 a month with Optus now I spend $59.

5 Feb 2011 09:13:30 AM: Hi @10:47:35,

That 15,000 does not include you as the vast majority of your posts have been moderated due to being off topic. To add, we remove any duplicate posts and you have been posting the same thing dozens of times a day for a week now.

More importantly though, your good experiences do not negate the bad experiences of tens of thousands of people on the Vodafone network. While it's great that it is working for you many others are not so lucky.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
5 Feb 2011 11:10:17 AM: @5 Feb 2011 10:47:35 AM You say "Any way maybe someone will get to read this before you delete is so they know what kind of person you are. "

Now why don't you tell the full story? You were spamming everone's replies with your pointless speedtest crap. You were asked by the moderation team to keep your pointless spam to your thread and your thread alone, but no, you didn't like that. So YOU decided to spam pointless replies for hours on end, of which they were then all removed, including your original post. You then also posted the above pointless message non stop for over a week (hundreds of times) ... Also funny to note that you posted it from a Vodafone Store IP numerous times. So why don't you explain to everyone how you work for vodafone.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
5 Feb 2011 03:19:31 PM: I am another vodafone customer and travel all over Melbourne and I DO NOT have any problems, I can make calls no drop outs. How any other people on here have made duplicate stories, or went onto someone else's computer and made false claims.
5 Feb 2011 03:21:55 PM: Also the speedtest are not pointless, if you the moderator start abusing people like you just did, proves what sort of a website this is
5 Feb 2011 03:37:34 PM: lol 'abuse' ... There is nothing abusive in his post, it is stating pure fact. The Troll above spammed this site for days on end, Thank god the moderators removed the dribble. Also very interesting to read he was posting from Vodafone store IP's....Sounds just like something you would expect from a Vodafone Staffer.
5 Feb 2011 04:28:03 PM: @ 5 Feb 2011 10:47:35 AM I have seen your multiple ramblings on this website, spamming post after post with the same message over and over again, even in posts not related. Now I read that you were doing it from a Vodafone store, breathtakingly abuse of company time and resources. As a company representative can you tell me if spamming is permitted under the terms and conditions of use for Vodafone?
5 Feb 2011 04:41:00 PM: @10:47:35 - you are an absolute moron to the enth degree. Awesome, you don't have any issues you're lucky then, but that doesn't excuse the fact that thousands of people are having issues with vodafones service. It's fuck-heads like you who made me leave vodafone and go to telstra.
5 Feb 2011 04:45:48 PM: excuse your language you freak. go crawl back down your little hole
5 Feb 2011 04:46:32 PM: I know alot of people on Vodafone and they have no problems
5 Feb 2011 05:31:48 PM: I know alot of people that had nothing but problems with Vodafone, almost all of them are now free of their contracts with Vodafone and the ones that are currently still with them are just waiting for the TIO to close out their cases so they can also be contract free and off to another provider.

If you want to read all the experiences people are having with Vodafone, don't just read here but also check out the Vodafone FB page. The wall and discussion pages there show you there are literally thousands upon thousands of people that are all having similar issues with Vodafone (and that is just the small percentage of people that either know about this site or the vodafone fb page).

It is great you are having no issues, and just as good that you know others that are having no issues. But this site was created so people could share their issues with Vodafone and see they are all very similar and not alone in their experiences with that company.

5 Feb 2011 06:58:10 PM: @06:45:48 PM I'll stop using profanities when vodafone stop lying to and cheating their customers. =)
6 Feb 2011 08:27:27 AM: What about the people who have issues with Telstra and optus etc, optus still has dropouts and poor coverage, both companies charge incorrectly on their bills
6 Feb 2011 09:08:01 AM: This site isn't about Telstra or Optus, however if you are having major difficulties with them then maybe you could do something about it and create a site similar to this to see if others are sharing the same pain as you.

The moment I got out of my Vodafone contract I went to Telstra and it has been flawless. Best speed, network, coverage and their customer service craps all over Vodafone's. Have not had a single issue with them. To be honest they are the exact opposite of Vodafone.

Very happy I made the leap!

7 Feb 2011 04:15:41 PM: I know Telstra's network is better, but I'm not convinced about Telstra's customer service or website, but then again I'm not convinced about Vodafone's either.
7 Feb 2011 09:11:03 PM: wow who is this idiot. wow good for u asshole that u have speeds! horrayyy lets have a party. guess what! OTHER PEOPLE DONT HAVE RECEPTION can u wrap ur little mind around that? ur not the only person on the planet and looks like over 15,000 of us DONT get reception, internet, texts dont send, spend hours on hold. thats just the beginning. grow up and stop posting on here if the mods have banned ur IP loser

15222 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Fail at 4 Feb 2011 04:38:38 PM
Well today I sent my email to TIO to get my phone sorted

Poor receiption to 2G and 3G, droped calls and calls just not comming through.

Talk to Vodaphone cancelation department today, they offered me 2 months free service while they do "Upgrades to the Network" told them no.

The Tec reports done to my area show that I "should" have decent reception outside. Had to laugh at that one

So hopefully I can get out of my contract and go to a better provider

Still 3 weeks waiting for Tec reports and more time wasted on the phone and driving to get a sim swap....don't really understand how or why they still think that I should waste more of my time and money waiting for them to sort there network. I am sure if I was late for a payment and told them give me 2 months while I am sorting it out, that they proberly just get the courts involved.

15213 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 4 Feb 2011 03:07:13 PM
Since July 2010, I have experienced everything from no data coverage in my suburb at the weekends to call dropouts, delayed text and voice messages. I have spent up to 2 hours on Saturdays and even working hours (almost every 3-4 weeks since) trying to explain the problems as they occur to Vodafone customer service teams. My company-issue mobile, my personal mobile, my iPad and mobile broadband are all with Vodafone. In fact, in early December, the security alarm system in our premises was triggered at 1am but the security company was unable to get through on my mobile - and - I didn't receive their voice message until 12noon. Surprisingly - and - fingers crossed, my issues seems to have improved since all the publicity about Vodafail.
Although, an incident that occurred this week has prompted me to post this.
My boss is who is also a Vodafone customer is currently overseas. He travels overseas on a monthly basis. This week, he received a text from Vodafone advising they have suspended his service. Account is up to date, ie: no outstanding invoices. When I enquired as to why service was suspended, I was told that there was an UNBILLED roaming charge amount of $3,000+ incurred in the current cycle and that this amount had to be paid before service would be re-activated. Notwithstanding the fact that my boss has been a long standing Vodafone customer, frequently incurs up to $6,000 in roaming charges AND account is always paid in full when due.

15210 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Useless and cruel at 4 Feb 2011 01:35:17 PM
After weeks of issues with my vodafone modem (which are still not resolved) I am now experienceing issues with service to my mobile. I have spoken with so many people in the vodafone call centre I reckon I could tell you who I am speaking to before they say their name.

I had decent coverage on my mobile up until December 2010 but more recently I have issues with phone service in my office (in the CBD)as soon as it hits midday. I swear to you, I can make and recieve calls up until midday.

The thing that gets me the most is that Vodafone are saying it is an issue with my handset - what the? It works in the morning!!! The other frustrating thing is that when I try to call it from my office phone, it doesn't even go to my voicemail. It either has an engaged signal or says that the area you are trying to call is out of service - Vodafone swear to me that there are no network outages in the Canberra CBD at the moment - I beg to differ! I know 3 other people in the building who are experiencing the same thing and are with Vodafone.

I am awaiting a call about a job and also news about my ill Grandmother. Vodafone - you are just plain cruel. You should not even be allowed to operate as a company. You lie to new customers whilst cheating the ones who you have firmly in your grasp.
4 Feb 2011 03:45:52 PM: I feel your pain. I live in NSW and same thing - have had decent service in the suburb I live in for nearly 2 years up until around July 2010. And, problem with service - especially - data, only ever occurred at the weekend, ie: like clockwork, I'd loose data service from midnight Friday until midday Monday. I was told various things by Vodafone's tech support ranging from problem was with my handset (iPhone) to they can't see any issues with their network. I seriously thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown at one stage because I heavily rely on my mobile and email for work. There was one weekend when I missed responding to a number of urgent emails from my boss. What I couldn't seem to get through to the customer service / tech help people was that my partner is also with Vodafone and was experiencing the same issues (but couldn't be bothered ringing Vodafone) so it wasn't my handset that was the problem. I had threatened them a number of times that I'd go to the Telecommunications Ombudsman... maybe I will really do that.

we have an usb broadband service through voodafone, our reception is terrible almost all of the time. We had the same problem with 3 so were offered a transfer to vodafone at no cost, and guaranteed better service. Since being with vodafone it has been worse, and we have called many time.. being on hold for up to 30 minutes each time. We have requested a sharing dock, as we were assured this would solve our reception issue. This was agreed to by vodafone 2 months ago, we have called up to 4 times since to find out where the dock was, every time there had been an error and the dock was not properly ordered. So we are still waiting. Each time we call.. we are wiping out the prepaid credit that we would usually use up in a month! We have had enough and just want out of this contract with vodafone.

15205 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC at 4 Feb 2011 12:42:23 PM
i have been in a battle with phone companies for the past two years. Finally, after releasing me from my contract "3" convinced me to go with Vodafone (as they did not have the phone in stock which they had promised me 3 months earlier), not knowing any better i agreed; this was my first mistake.

The first two bills they sent me were incorrect (overcharging me by $90 on both). i called customer "service" on numerous occasions to try and solve the problem but was told that there was nothing that they could do. as i did not pay the incorrect bills my service was promptly disconnected for two days with no explanation.

I live on Sydney's north shore (20 mins from the CBD) and i have NEVER ONCE had full reception in the 5 months that i have been with vodafone now. i consistently have "no service" in my house, and when i am out the reception and connection quality is shameful. Voicemails on average take 4 days to arrive to my account, and the internet connection is slower than the dial up i had in my house ten years ago.

IT IS A JOKE, i think that Lara should start looking for a new job, as Vodafone will not last with this kind of service!!!

vodafone is telling us that if we switch our service to 3 we will get better coverage and wont experience the drop outs and lack of service we are getting now. i don't understand how that can be if it runs on the same network as vodafone. has anyone else been told this by vodafone or switched and had better service?
4 Feb 2011 12:19:33 PM: Yes. I have just been on the phone to Vodafone for the last hours trying to cancel my contract. I'm sick of the customer service you DON'T receive and getting fobbed off. I was having problems with calls dropping out, connection errors and delayed text messages. This all started back in December 2010 and today they have finally cancelled by contract but i had to pay them 180 bucks, i'm so glad its finally over GOOD BYE VODAFONE HELLO OPTUS

15192 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No 3G Coverage at 4 Feb 2011 08:26:04 AM
After moving to Morning, I found I had constant dropouts and no 3G internet. After over 5 hours of calls and being on hold, I finally got through to the network people who said they would do a test of the area and get back to me in 3-5 days. No contact after 7. Contacted them, they said there was no fault. I asked to have my contract cancelled, they said that was not possible as the network tests said there was no problem. I was transferred to the retention department, who also said they couldn't cancel the contract, but they would cut my bill in half for the next 6 months???? If there is no known problem on Vodafone's side, why would they give me 1/2 price access for 6 months and ask me to test 3G during that time. I currently have an Iphone 3GS which only works on 2G? Wouldn't this mean that Vodafone is not living up to their side of the Contract?

well, for starters i have no reception. Any where i go. Which makes me very angry. Also some of the vodafone stores have very bad customer service. One manager at a store told me she would lie to her regional manager and tell her that the device i am returning actually works. And im not kidding. She is always yelling at customers. And her store are racist, they only talk their language to people other wise they treat u with no respect. Also, she said (exact words) "vodafone doesnt really care about prepaid customers". And another thing is that my bill is telling me i have spent $210 over, which i havnt. Gosh!!! Please let me know if u have any of these issues. Take care every one.

15189 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Line Testing at 3 Feb 2011 07:41:33 PM
I spoke with the cancellation department on 24/1/11 to get released from my plan and was told the only way this could happen is if there were issues with coverage in my area and was transferred to the technical department to arrange a line test and promised a call back on the 28/1/11. Monday 31/1/11 I called and requested a call back due to hold times. They called back 5 mins later and placed me on hold! After 20 more mins of holding decided that is why i requested the call back and hung up. 3/2/11 I called back to find out what was going on and tried and the line dropped out. I called back and spoke to Chantelle who could hear me and it dropped out. I then called back and got richard who later turned out to be rod. He wasn't able to hear me and I requested he called me back. He called me back and i explained what had happened about the line test and asked him to record these on the notes on my file. He then said he would introduce me to someone in the technical department and explain what had happened after 24mins of holding the person in technical had no clue what was happening as no notes were made. I then spoke to the supervisor who told me that the line test had been completed and there were no issues in my area. As a result I asked if he had placed the notes of drop outs and they had no records. She then acknowledged that there were issues with the coverage and that they would not release me from my contract as the systems will be upgraded some where between 14days and 12months! I have requested a copy of the notes on my account and had to be transferred back to customer service who advised it will cost $21 to get them. I said it does not cost $21 to copy past it into and e-mail and send to me. Now 2 hours on hold all they can offer is to raise this with the privacy department who will take 7 days to contact me and verify that this is my account before they can release the notes to me. Very unacceptable! Sorry vodafone after 6 years of loyalty I'm outta here.
3 Feb 2011 08:43:57 PM: Call the TIO, you've done your part band vodafone don't want to be reasonable. If you go to the TIO you will get out of your contract.
4 Feb 2011 07:28:01 AM: There are privacy issues and they are following the guidelines
4 Feb 2011 12:22:59 PM: Vodafone were giving me the same run around too but i got out of my contract, you need to be firm with them, it worked for me.

15188 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 3 Feb 2011 07:35:56 PM
Poor reception. 1 - 2 bars of 3G when outside and not touching the phone. Make a phone call and it drops out. Use data service to download and it takes forever then fails, I end up having to wait till I get home and my phone links up to wifi for it to complete.

So 4 emails later I was advised that for phone calls I need to switch my mobile to 2G and when I want to use data switch my phone to 3G, then switch it back to 2G when done.

The coverage map shows that I am covered by their service - but looking at my reception I'm barely receiving reception at all. I was told by their customer service person that they are doing nextwork upgrades in my area - the nearest upgrade is 10km away.

All contact now with vodafone is promises that someone will contact me later... worst service ever.

15185 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very at 3 Feb 2011 06:33:13 PM
We have Vodafone wireless internet (well we thought we did), but we almost always have trouble getting a connection. The service is off sometimes for days & when it is working it just drops out. We are told that we may not be in a good coverage area, yet when we were with the 3 network & couldn't get coverage we were told that we would have no problem getting coverage for our area from Vodafone. We therefore changed servers only to find that we now have a much more inferior service. If we get the internet at all it is slow, painfully slow, or drops out completely, or we just cannot connect. I have been with Vodafone for 2 months & in that time I have been back to their stores or called them (sorry, called their number without actually making contact with a real person) about 6 times. Always the store staff tell us to call the phone number as they can't help. It appears that no one can help but they are completely at ease taking our money each month without doing anything about fixing very obvious problems. I don't understand why the consumer advocacy groups don't call for Vodafone to be prevented from selling their service (or lack thereof) until they can rectifiy the problems. Because what they are currently doing must surely be considered "False Advertising". They are clearly unable to provide customers with the service they are falsley taking money for.

15183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is so over it at 3 Feb 2011 06:23:16 PM
Ive been a customer for over 10 years and have just calculated that i have spent in total over $50,000 with Vodafail. My most recent bill was $1200 as they make a packet from my on global roaming charges - atleast that is what i thought until i realised its all the recalls i do from the signal dropping out. The coverage is absolutely woeful and is getting worse. The customer service people seem to be in denial but yet friends who have Optus or Telstra have full coverage in areas where I have none - almost anywhere on the pittwater, atlease 3 spots between the upper north shore and north sydney, in the southern highlands etc etc. Vodafone - you have done nothing to reward my loyalty and your inadequate network is causing me and everyone I speak to frustration. Time for a change...........

4 Feb 2011 03:26:35 PM: Vodafone is a weapon of mass disruption!!!
5 Feb 2011 09:05:31 AM: Very clever, sorry I didn't think of that.

I see there have been other poor suckers who have had similar problems. How is it that in our over governed & over legislated country Vodafail can get away with mass advertising products they cannot possibly supply & take customers' funds based on contracts they clearly cannot comply with? Why aren't our brave police guardians of law & order arresting these criminals for fraud?
7 Feb 2011 10:39:47 PM: I've had the dodgy invoice as well. Don't worry though, I found out that 40 Mount St North Sydney is the Head Office. (Shared building with Coca Cola).
8 Feb 2011 08:36:57 PM: Well they did it!!! the Shitheads sent me an invoice for a service that they agreed to rescind. I sent their crummy junk disc & USB modem back & they still are sending me bills! Where is the nearest vigalante posse I can join to lynch these outlaws!
17 Feb 2011 08:28:05 AM: HOPEFULLY this the end to the saga. Thanks to the advice on this site I registered a complaint with the TIO & 10 days later received a call from a Vodafone lady. Nice polite woman with good sense of humour, actually told me that they were trained to cop abuse from customers & needed a thick skin to do the job. Asked her if she was aware of this site & she said they were.

Absolutely refused to send me any documentation that Vodafail would not be billing me again or that they had canceled my deal with them. Just kept telling me that she had checked all the possible departments of the company & all of them showed I was no longer a customer & that my credit card details had been erased.

Of course I should believe all this right? Who would doubt the verbal assurance of a Vodafone employee? Finally she agreed the best she could do would be to send me a text to say they no longer would be charging me!

It only took one 5 minute phone call for these people to get their hooks into me to bleed my credit card dry for a non-existent "service" & then 5 weeks of phone calls, hanging in queues & a complaint to the TIO to cancel the agreement.

I will wait & see if this is really the end of the saga. Not that I don't trust them!

15170 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Crap coverage Crap Service at 3 Feb 2011 02:10:15 PM
After my first experience with poor coverage by the Vodafone claimed network, I tested the coverage further by travelling through Morley, Beechboro and Ballajura attempting to make phone calls at various locations. In 10 out of 12 attempts the phone did not have any reception! When it did have reception it was near major shopping centres........obviously they have a tower at these locations or the signal bounces off the large glass windows at these shopping centres (Ha ha). Once I completed this test I sent an email to Vodafone advising of the poor coverage and my intent to retunr the phone and have the contract terminated. In response they sent me a generic email providing information about the 2G Network and their areas of cliamed network coverage, they didn't go anywhere near responding to my request regarding the contract. VODACRAP!!
4 Feb 2011 02:15:43 AM: Yeah I have given up. Your story mirrors mine! I finally received a reply to my emailed complaint and their generic response to all this was - get ready : please forward your query or complaint (there's the proof of generic - definitely not a query!) to network.feedback@vodafone.com.au. Now call me old fashioned - But shouldn't the vodafone staff pass this on for me internally? Is that not how help desks are run?All they had to do was click forward to. Insane

I have been on hold for TWO AND A HALF HOURS after telling Lara that I wanted to speak to someone about a billing inquiry. I originally just wanted to have my last 2 bills wiped because of crappy service (calls dropping out, voicemails and texts coming late or not at all, cruddy internet reception and 'no service' in areas like Manuka, Civic, Kingston and in Sydney). How do i get to place my number on the 'call back' list because this is just ridiculous! I'm now at the point of just wanting to cancel my contract on iphone although I have about a year to go, however am worried I won't be able to port my number as I am waiting to hear back about job interviews.

Can someone direct me as to how I get vodafail to call me back, or should i just call again and say i want to talk to someone in complaints? Eeep!
