26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

1675 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:16:45 AM
For the past few months I've had little to no reception on the train between Hornsby & City. I'm a young woman who catches the train late at night. I'd prefer to have my phone functional during these hours... my mum is horrified.

1671 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Drop outs, no coverage at 27 Dec 2010 08:13:54 AM
I have a vodafone personal phone and a telstra work phone. The vodafone mobile constantly drops out on calls on my way to and from work, particularly around Sydenham and Wolli Creek in Sydney. Often the phone will say that the cellular data network could not be activated, even though the phone has full 3G reception. Luckily my plan is nearly up and I will not be renewing with them.

Outside of the capital cities, Vodafone's coverage is woeful at best. My telstra Next G phone works just about everywhere. The calls are much clearer, the data speeds much better and there are very few drop outs etc.

1670 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgustingly Fail! at 27 Dec 2010 08:13:20 AM
Perpetual call drop outs, and I use my phone for my BUSINESS!! I live in Glebe but have rarely been anywhere where the coverage gets higher than two bars. What's worse is the phone goes to 'roaming' which I get charged more per call for. So when I have to keep calling people back after dropping out I get charged MORE!

I also frequently miss calls that go straight to voicemail even though the phone is sitting next to me and says there is coverage. Then I have to call voicemail and get charged again!!

Absolutely abysmal and dishonest.

1669 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mobile Broadband at 27 Dec 2010 08:12:48 AM
I had a mobile broadband service with Vodafone.

My service has been disconnected because I refuse to pay my bill with vodafone.

I refused to pay my bill because of the poor, sluggish network and (non)service. The amount of occassions it just doesn't connect or when it does connect it downloads 1 kilobyte per second ... its unbelievably infuriating, especially when you are trying to run a small business.

Every month I've only been able to use a sixth of my maximum download amount, courtesy of Vodafone's poor network.

And everytime Vodafone assure me that the problem is localised and "will be fixed" and "won't be repeated" ... utter balderdash.

PS can Vodafone please also get an Australian based call centre too!!!

3G....what 3G!!! It's funny how Vodafone recently changed it's plans to include more calls and more data downloads. Very generous given they can't provide the service/coverage to support these. My husband and I are having endless issues with Vodafone and their answer is to offer more of the same features you can't use. Doesn't that Nigel Dews sounds like a sycophant! I have bought vodaphone connection last month. yesterday whole day my iphone 4 was not working, as i had full coverage bars on the phone. But i was not able to make calls or recieve calls. when i called-up vodaphone my landline, the stupid customer care person answered by call after 15 minutes and transfered the call to different department. Had to wait for 2 hours no response. Once again disconnected and call once again. It took another 30 minutes. There was no apology from customer care person. Can i get rid of this contract. Don`t want to suffer for another 23 months. if any one has solution, please email me sak787@yahoo.com
27 Dec 2010 08:11:18 AM: there you go, you have my "re-boot" problem too (see my post 2 up). You need to turn your phone off then back on to re-set the network attach signal. It sucks - its SO FRIGGEN annoying becuase you dont know its happened !!

Vodafone don't care I'm stiched up in contract and get billed for calls not made and services not used but vodafone can't be contacted and the Bathurst office says little and helps even less, Bathurst office told me that the new phones would work at my home but it does not unless I get lucky afer climbing a tree, all very curious that in 2010 that 20 kms from Bathurst Vodafone can't give me a service that works although they said they could not.

I cancelled one billed by month service after being wrongly billed had to pay changed to prepaid and get same poor coverage.

I'm fed up having to climb trees to make calls in the rain or drive 1.5 km to make a call that mostly drops out visitors come and they phone out from my home on other services, the Bathurst Telstra shop told me that the vodafone I have all 3 of them are not suitable for the local coverage that they are city phones.

so to move to another serive I need another phone why how can the government allow the poor service.

on another note: curious the government is now more worried about broadband but were the ones who did away with the CDMA service that worked here at my home/ the service now for me is virtually none and Vodafone does not care nor does the Government.

1652 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception at 27 Dec 2010 08:03:09 AM
We own and operate a business in the Charlestown area. Have a business mobile plan with 3 phones. The coverage says 3G but we have to divert all calls to our home phone. Zero reception.
The Charlestown bypass you may get edge if your lucky but your call will drop, even going past one of regions major hospitals and no reception. Ment to be 3g. When I'm on the road through this region I rely on good data coverage as well as phone reception. Where they say its 3g it just is not. Have complained through the formal Vodafone process but unacceptable response.
So essentially paying for service that does not deliver. Costing my business.

1648 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is At least x2-3 times daily at 27 Dec 2010 08:01:27 AM
I'm self-employed & do a lot of travelling. In North Melbourne, the signal strength is so bad I can't even make calls from inside my office. My business partner & I speak several times a day (he *was* with Vodafone) & it's always my phone which drops out at least twice, even depending on where I am facing. At home (E Melb) there are some rooms I don't make calls in, even though there are windows & clear space outside. I often travel to the eastern suburbs (Nunawading, Box Hill) & it's just one entire black hole with minimal reception or drop-outs for the entire area & don't get me started about outside Melb-metro areas, even along the Hume Hwy of all places! Grrrr. Out of contract now & going to go Telstra & new iPhone 4, but 3 wks ago Vodafone sales called asking if I'd renew & would I like a new phone. When I said their coverage was rubbish & I couldn't continue with them, the salesman was very apologetic & agreed, saying that was one area he knew they couldn't compete - coverage & reliability of service in that regard - he didn't persist! ...& don't get me started about when I'm in the car moving & talking on the plumbed-in Parrot hands-free system-fades, drop-outs, disconnects (often). As for the painful speed or lack of 3G & net features, I shudder if I ever have to attempt using. Emails are bad enough, but info from the Net? Forget it. /end rant. AML

1647 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TOTALLY FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 08:01:02 AM
I have been a loyal vodafone customer for 10 years, give or take. Previously I would recommend them to friends as they had awesome customer service, despite the fact the network was only good inside metro areas. Over the past year or two, this has changed. Poor network coverage, both phone and broadband, drop-outs, voicemail messages that come through anywhere from 6-48 hours after they are submitted. But the biggest fail of all is the Customer Service (or lack of.) Earlier this year it took me 4 phone calls, a number of emails and around 2 hours of hold-time, just to change my address. Then, the operator that emailed me had the ordasity to tell me "not to get upset" or something similar, after all this. More recently, I don't bother ringing them as each time you do, its another 1-2 hours on hold, then they transfer you to another department, and the call mysteriously drops out and back to sqare one! Just a tip... if I want something done now, I tell "Lara" I want to cancel, somehow that gets me thorugh to very helpful people in Melbourne, who actually jump over themself to help with anything!

I got sucked into Vodaphone, they PROMISED me coverage at my property. I was with 3/Telstra and the reception would drop out 30 metres from house. Well now I am lucky if I can get reception when I am in our local town 8 kms away. And the continual dropping out going down a major highway AND through the Domain & Burnley tunnels is really annoying.
Not what I signed up for

Anyone being told adjust your phone's settings to change it BACK to the 2G network? Dont let this way of fixing the problem be the resolution! You are paying the money, contracted to the 3G network, dont be fooled by anyone into changing to the lesser system. 1643 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is It fails about 80% of the time at 27 Dec 2010 07:58:01 AM
Call dropouts, missed calls without receiving the actual call, poor call quality, calling the same number a few times to make the call (cell towers don't respond quickly), constant redial to make a short call, very poor reception in 4509 postcode and no service inside the building in most areas of Brisbane North-side where I work. Vodafone has oversold its subscription and has failed to upgrade the towers to accommodate new connections.

I think NBN is to blame, all telecom companies have stopped upgrading due to NBN roll-out. Goodluck to tll those think Optus or Telstra are better. It is the same shit different name.
27 Dec 2010 01:55:45 PM: Um dude, the NBN has got nothing to do with mobile networks. In fact it is the complete opposite
27 Dec 2010 02:21:14 PM: It is networks like Vfail that the Coalitions Alternative to the NBN Policy relies to fill in the gaps in their plan. Gee that'll work great won't it? Mr Turnbull might get a good connection from his harbour viewed ivory tower with direct line of sight to over 5 trans towers.I'd shit myself with Joy at the 12mbs or 7 mbs that mob BB is theoretically capable of, Often 7Kbs is as good as it gets, and speeds in bps are sometimes the best available, if at all. Bring on the NBN, and don't let any entity at all associated with the Vodabone-of -Contention anywhere near it.
27 Dec 2010 02:33:35 PM: I have a HTC Desire with Telstra and the reception is amazing. I have reception on Fraser Island and Stradbroke Island, whereas my friends who have Optus and Vodafone phones get none. I get reception constantly around Brisbane and I have an incredibly fast data connection and a reliable carrier. I've been with 3mobile before (for 3 years) and was frustrated as my phone dropped calls when it constantly changed between 3g and roaming. Now, I'm on NextG almost all the time, and if not, I receive Edge. I will continue to be a Telstra customer as they truly have a network that actually works.

Got given an iPhone by my employer, connected to Vodafone, and I have to say, thank god I'm not paying for it myself, because if I was, I'd feel like I'd been robbed blind. The network is atrocious: often has no signal, and even when it claims to have a solid signal, often the data connection just does nothing, never loads a page. This makes my first mobile phone I bought in 2000 look BRILLIANT compared to Vodafone's 2010 network.

I live in an area of Frankston where network coverage is notoriously bad. However while I was with Vodafone there were ocassions where I could never get any coverage. I was also convinced to to take out Wi-fi broadband coverage with them. The same issues again; I would would be using the internet and it would cut out frequently. Fortunately I also have a pay as you go service with Telstra and I now use them as my only internet provider.

I have now also switched to Telstra for my mobile; the mobile coverage has improved slightly (Bring on the NBN!). However Vodafone convinced me to open up a 24 month plan for the internet. I have not used their service in months yet I am still forced to pay $40 a month for a reduntant service. I feel cheated, powerless and angry that I am being ripped off. However as a result of what I have seen on this website I will contact them with a view to getting out of the contract.

What a fantastic website, keep up the good work!

27 Dec 2010 08:09:30 AM: Unless you simply dial 112, which then seeks out and connects you to ANY available network - regardless of which operator you normally subscribe to - thus allowing you to make an emergency call. This feature has been available since the inception of digital coverage. RTFM!

I signed up on a 2 year contract with Vodaphone about a month ago. I was originally concerned that there was something wrong with my phone when I was continually getting 'No Service' or barely any reception all over Melbourne, including in the CBD, as well as the countless dropped calls. Rarely can my phone hold onto a 3G connection, and the times that I can actually use apps on my phone that require a decent connection are few and far between. Now i'm on holiday on the Gold Coast and it's no different. It's reassuring to know there are thousands more out there in the same boat, but I am also bitterly disappointed about this. Hoping Vodaphone gets its act together very soon!

I bought a new HTC Windows Phone 7 and I had problems with my phone from day one. After hours waiting on the customer help line, I went to the store and after hours of testing, I was given a new phone. With the new phone I had so many drop outs it was impractical to use it. I have poor reception in Lane Cove where I have to "share" my conversation with my neighbours walking around the house, but I had huge problems in the CBD as well. I have to admit, I gave up, I am using another old model (still getting the dropouts) and resigned. I left messages on Vodafone and HTC Facebook but I had no response (their help line is simply impossible - I waited a few times for more than half an hour without any response). I am very frustrated with Vodafone service.

I have been with Vodafone for over four years. It's generally been a good company to deal with and their deals have been good. However, in the last few weeks I have been getting on-and-off again reception in my house which is in the southern suburbs of Canberra, callers can't get through despite trying multiple times, the phone doesn't ring, missed calls are not recorded, if they do get through callers get flicked to voicemail, voicemail messages don't come through, SMS messages can take many hours to get through. Clearly, Vodafone is in deep trouble, but that's no excuse for going into denial mode. They have had to be dragged to the point of acknowledging the fact that it's their problem. Happily my contract is just about to finish, and I'm not going to stick around waiting for them to fix their problems. Their customer service staff are pleasant and generally competent, but the CEO and others at the top have acted disgracefully. I have not received the service I should have over the past few weeks and I do not intend to pay the next bill.

Coincidently I live and work next to the F3 freeway on the Central Coast, NSW, and the availability of service on the network is poor and when I do get it extremely poor. Calls frequently attempted to have them through and drop outs occur most often. Regret advising people for the new plans. Their network is not kept up to the expanded customer base they have sought through their marketing. Mobile data rarely on 3G, using the older network type most of the time. Ken.

Constant and i mean constant call dropouts and very patchy internet coverage.
I have a prepaid with telstra snd dont have any of these problems.

Im not getting what i paid for - why should i pay ??
27 Dec 2010 09:21:39 AM: You don't have to pay if you are not receiving the service you signed up for. Contact the Department of Fair Trading. Goods and services have to be fit for purpose. Stand your ground but be aware that unfortunately the customer service people on the phone and in the stores have no idea that you have a legal right to not pay if you are not receiving your service. Read all the fine print in your contract and document everything with dates, times etc.

1604 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very fail at 27 Dec 2010 07:37:13 AM
Admittedly I'm only on prepaid - but I'm leaving, as I live in the city and my reception regularly drops out, phone calls seem to disconnect themselves and my messages often get sent twice, three times, four times to the same person (and I'm charged for it). Alternatively, sometimes only half my message is delivered to the receiver. Trying to recharge is a nightmare - the recharge website often doesn't work and you can only do it by phone in certain hours during the day. customer care - what customer care. As a prepaid customer I'm at the bottom of the rung with any phone company, but especially so with vodafone.

1599 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is It's almost funny at 27 Dec 2010 07:34:16 AM
On several occasions, spent more than 5 hrs on hold to customer service (I was trying to change plan) I should have realised such a thing was beyond the degenerates they employ. Most of them had trouble understanding my extremely complex request, and the one that did screwed up all of my account information. Rather than simply changing my plan on my current sim they sent me a new one with a different number. I almost cried. So I rang them to activate the new sim card, they said it would take 24 hrs tops. 25 hrs later neither sim card was working, I cried some more. I then decided to ring the tolled line, and surprise surprise no 5 hr wait, I almost got straight through. But they still couldn't help me because they had lost all of my billing information, and at present I am still waiting for my new plan to activate (they turned the old one off so I have nothing at all currently)

Their network performance is terrible, also. The internet on my phone seldom works, and yet they still charge me for every failed attempt to get to a website. Bastards.

I have been a Vodafone customer since 1995 and on the hwloe I am reasonably happy with the service and deals in my contract, but sadly the one place where their signal sucks is my home! And as I work from a home office, this is a real pain. One minute you have a great signal and you can talk away, next minute - without moving the phone - you have no network coverage!!

Move around the house and the signal might stay with you or it might drop out. VERY FRUSTRATING! sometimes you get a message from Voicemail time stamped for the same time you are listening to the call you supposedly missed, but the phone didn't ring for the actual call.

Yes please Mr Vodafone - lift your game!

I rarely have reception, and when I do receive a call it drops in and out, spent the last week and a half on and off hold with vodafone who don't have any call centres in Australia..... and then told my phone is fine because I can receive a phone call outside my house, I continued to complain and nothing was done until I mentioned I was a journalist student and they said they would cut my cancellation fee by 50 % and give me two months free phone use ( cause I can use my phone so much) but still pursuing my case as I want out of vodafone. For iPHONE users - when you have poor phone reception or data performance
try to go - SETTINGS > GENERAL > NETWORK > turn off ENABLE 3G. This allows you to use the slower 2.5G network. The "3G" sign will be replaced by an "E" on your phone - which most the time works for me. (Alexandria, NSW)

1591 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic at 27 Dec 2010 07:29:15 AM
I live in a heavily populated suburb of Brisbane called bracken ridge. The network coverage in this area is deplorable. Vodafone have entered two service requests for a technician to call me back. This is after spending nearly 3 hours in total on the phone going through the same trouble shooting process, and guess what? No improvement!! Have I received a call back? Of course not. The reception issues at home are my main issue because I spend most of my time here. The reality is that reception is poor across a number of areas I visit. Now I've seen this site and the class action taking place I'm not going to sit by.

1587 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a shadow of its former self at 27 Dec 2010 07:23:38 AM
I have been a Voda customer since 1996. They used to be great, I used to be rewarded for being a loyal customer. Now, they suck and don't care about their customers, even old ones like me. The last few months is the first time in 15 years I've seriously thought about leaving.

* Other people have found me uncontactable. My other half rang me at home the other day and said "Why aren't you answering your mobile?" My mobile hadn't even rung. He said it went through to voicemail. I'm still waiting to get the message. (This now happens A LOT, which is making work and business colleagues very frustrated with me. Voicemails can take days to come through, if they come through at all.)

* How is it that I can live in Glebe, in plain view of the city skyline, and get no reception? Broadway Shopping Centre is also an inexplicable dead spot, and has been for the last three or four years.

* 3G is uselessly slow when you get it. If you get it. Wherever you are.

* My latest fun experience - I was on a work trip overseas and had switched on Global Roaming via the website before I left. When I landed in the UK, I had no reception and no Global Roaming. The person who was picking me up couldn't contact me, I couldn't contact him. It took him hours of walking around the airport to find me. When I got to a computer, I turned roaming on again. A couple of times. Again, nothing. I called customer service, was on hold for an hour and had to give up (any wonder I came home to a $900 phone bill!). I later called the faults line, who told me there had been an issue with switching on GR via the website (for three weeks??? WHERE WAS THE MESSAGE ON THE WEBSITE SAYING 'THIS DOESN'T WORK, PLEASE CALL US', VODA??) They said they could put in a request to turn on my roaming but it might take 3 days. I sent a bunch of emails to various people which resulted in it being switched on sooner. In the meantime, I'm in a foreign country, for work, and practically uncontactable.

One thing that was an eye opener on this trip - the reception and 3G speed I had in the UK and the US was exemplary. It is what Voda promises here, and it showed me just how much they don't deliver.

Thank you and f%$k you Vodafone, for leaving me with no alternative but to switch to those damn crooks at Telstra.

I've posted a couple of times but still so annoyed that vodafone cant get it's act together. On Christmas eve in Ballarat I had no service whatsoever for around 4hrs. No reception for phone calls or internet - boy I cant wait until May and I will go with a real provider. I'm looking forward to going with telstra to get proper coverage, rather than paying vodafone $70 per month for mobile and then more for the mobile broadband without getting any service at all. I wish I had have known about the issues before signing any contract.

Vodafone has messed out their network over the last 2 months.
I live in Alexandria, NSW and have been with them for 12 months now on an iPhone contract. First 10 months, no issue. Networks performance became very poor. Reception disappeared in the middle of the call. Restart the phone and reset network settings not helping. My hospital and friends tried to call me to check out on me after an operation was fuming and worries course I was UN-CONTACTABLE for hours when my reception was DEAD. They thought I was dead while I was resting/sleeping at home not knowing the phone reception was gone for hours.. Totally unacceptable.

Their "PREPAID" mobile broadband USB stick is the worst thing i have ever owned, paid out $120 to get 2GB of data, the 2GB acutally never eventuated, but the major problem is the terribly slow wireless network, my friends dial up was actually quicker, and at busy times, the network never worked at all - too many ppl on the system it just crashes! Signed up to another carrier via my landline, and the commy is 10 times faster, and hasnt had a problem since i signed 4 months ago. Anyway, their system let me down so much, and all the guy could tell me was to take it to another place to use it - WHAT THE? Why would i need to take it to another place, when the stick gave me 3/5 network bars? Are you telling me that is not enough reception? I have a desktop computer! Its the damn faulty stick or the network. He had no answer to fix it, so i fixed it and went somewhere else. Do yourself a favour, DONT GET THE WIRELESS USB STICK!!!!!!!!!!
27 Dec 2010 08:00:00 AM: Same. 2Gig stick usb modem. sitting in my office in the heart of the Sydney CBD I regularly get speeds slower than dialup (actually a lot slower than dialup- try 9600 baud if lucky). It took me over four hours to even activate the stick through the Voda website because the networks speed was so slow. (The activation process directs all traffic from the stick to the activation website until done). Thankfully I bought prepaid and am not locked into any contract. The fact is that I paid $120 for something that simply doesn't work. I wont ever use VF again.
27 Dec 2010 09:32:02 AM: We purchase a VF plan with 1 GB per month USB stick and quick simply the stick doesn't work. Hasn't connected once. We have been back countless times but gave up because we found the pre-paid stick worked - so just changed the sim over and we are working but we shouldn't have to do this. Not to mention the phone does not have any reception in country Vic. - none in Barwon Heads or Tallygaroopna not Shepparton

27 Dec 2010 11:59:31 AM: have had a prepaid stick for over 5 months now. Reception was non-existent in my room, let alone in the lounge room. apparently it was the one area of launceston that didnt have very good coverage.. Now recently i have moved, and had issues the other day with my stick. 2 calls to vodafone (yes two because my crazy johns mobile dropped out), 50 minutes later i was told that i had to take it else where to check it out to see if it was just the area i was in, or i would be sent a new $2 sim card. It was the stick itself that was the issue.. i had reception only hours before. at the end of the day, the call center had stuffed up my computer with a stupid dial-up option always popping up and never disappearing, my computer forced itself off, and wanted to restore itself to a previous date and my Internet security had turned itself off. I had not changed any of the settings; so i do blame vodafone. Now just to add insult to injury, am moving to queensland and will need to find a new internet provider as i wont have reception where i am moving to. Massive Fail on the part of vodafone.
27 Dec 2010 12:07:13 PM: Yeah same problem. I had to use it for a month or two due for my business because the main line was down due to a disaster and being in ICT I can easily spot the problem. Cheap, crappy Chinese piece of trash. Drivers are written by morons, GUI software doesn't work properly (bandwidth counter doesn't work), it's not properly plug-n-play and barely supports Windows 7 let alone anything exotic.

Just moved from Rose Bay in Sydney where we had limited reception in our apartment, and when weather was poor we literally went into a black hole. Now in ACT where Internet coverage is still pretty basic. I've also experienced on numerous occasions that I get calls that go straight to voicemail even when phone is switched on with good reception without phone even ringing. Voicemails ALWAYS come late, embarrassing because friends and work think I am avoiding speaking with them. Partner is also on vodafone as is my mother but frequency have calls which drop out or sound like other person is underwater, freaking fed up!! Thank you for launching this site, the media and social networking is fantastic and it's comforting to know that others are actively seeking change and voicing their frustration, I thought I was just complaining about 'normal' network problems. I am glad i am not with vodafail. they have been the worst network i have been with. i was originally with 3 and i must say they are a good network but the reason why i left 3 was because i could not get reception in parts of my house. i jumped on the voda website and saw that they covered all of Shailer Park, QLD. this proved to be not the case. After i saw this, i believe voda deceptively advertise that they operate in some areas where they do not service.

their indian team is horrible and the service is extremely poor; not to mention some people from their business team even though the one im talking about is from brisbane. After being with voda for 3 months, i was able to cancel my contract for free.

I am told there is no way of resolving this issue (i.e. they can't fix their own software).

I have been dealing with them through their email system and the last response was to call their specialist Technical Support. Already spoken with them and they were as much use as tits on a bull. I'm taking it to the TIO as I am sick of the inconvenience.

1529 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrendous at 26 Dec 2010 09:02:31 AM
I have been experiencing call drop outs for the past 3-4 weeks. Last 4-5 days have been absolutely horrendous. Most of my incoming calls go straight to my voicemail. Gives me "connection error" 9/10 times when I try to call someone. I have been trying to talk to someone for the past one week.. I'm on hold for 45 minutes and more but still can't get through. This is totally unacceptable. I was very patient for the first few weeks but now I have no choice but move to another network. I have demanded someone talk to me but haven't received a call yet. I have been a Vodafone customer for the past 10 years. This is really disappointing.
26 Dec 2010 10:25:21 AM: Contact TIO.Document EVERYTHING.Better if you make your contact number not a VF sim. Keep a rough diary of your whereabouts offline.

Spoke to 2 people on Christmas day, for a total of 25 minutes. In all, the 2 calls were dropped by the network 7 times! How pathetic is that? Thank goodness I only have 3 months on the contract to go, then vooooom! I'm outta here!
26 Dec 2010 08:44:30 AM: btw, people = relatives, not VF support...

1526 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Look out at 26 Dec 2010 07:20:21 AM
Will be demanding that my contract is cancelled as soon as the retail outlets reopen for business. This weekend has been the final straw. Disgraceful that we're paying for what is essentially a limited SMS network.
26 Dec 2010 08:20:53 AM: If you are looking to cancel you'll have to contact Customer Care, retail stores don't have the access required to cancel contracts.
26 Dec 2010 10:18:54 AM: I would call the TIO and get the ball rolling.
26 Dec 2010 10:27:09 AM: Contact TIO.Document EVERYTHING.Better if you make your contact number not a VF sim. Keep a rough diary of your whereabouts offline.
27 Dec 2010 11:50:13 AM: TIO, TIO and away you go.

I've had to do it with both Optus and Vodafoney at different times. After being given the runaround for weeks. ONE CALL to the TIO ( who will give you a completely different complaints number at the carrier in question). And I was released both time IMMEDIATLY !

They can do it when they have to. They just don't want to.

1524 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is So Disappointed at 25 Dec 2010 10:48:17 PM
I had new contract with Vodafone just 3 weeks ago and since that I realised I can NOT received any text sms that sent from overseas. What the?? I contacted Vodafone and they told me my network is fine and nothing wrong with that and suggested me to turn off the 3G mode and switch to 2G network instead. but Guess what I still couldnt received the text sms that sent from overseas. this is so frustrating.. I went to one of mobile dealer which was I trusted the most and I explained all of my ridiculous experience with vodafone and they told me that they had so far 5 customers had the same problem and suggested me to call Vodafone again and ask Voda to replace my mobile Number this is the only way to solve this problem, my God I don wanna do that again because every call that I made to call Voda's CS line would eat up my 1 hour for waiting, but eventually I gotta call them and what I been told by them was its Impossible to change anything especially change the mobile number.
and thats it.. it leave me with no way out to solve this bloody problem.
26 Dec 2010 12:49:50 AM: Contact the TIO and keep a record of everything, AND the time you spend trying to get what you are paying for.
27 Dec 2010 07:10:55 AM: told turning off the 3G to go onto the 2G? This would give you less signal strength, and less available network areas because the 3G is more powerful. Is that what they call a fix? What a joke that is!

1514 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Exteme at 25 Dec 2010 11:56:35 AM
Vodafone down yet again. Not able to make or received phone calls, text, or data. This has been going on for days now. Much like the previous mass outages.

Vodafone's webpage also working badly. Took me an hour of trying to finally unlock me phone.

Can't get into my online Vodafone account.

Other people I know with Vodafone are having similar problems. We coined the term Vodafail only to find so many others with the same issues and this website dedicated to exposing Vodafone's woeful performance.

Waiting on the phone for Vodafone assistance for over an hour. Can't use my mobile and had to borrow a landline as the mobile network just keeps on failing. Its down more than its up a - 90% down for several days. The same problems the other week, and the week before.

Bad, bad, bad.

1513 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very at 25 Dec 2010 10:38:59 AM
It's Xmas day and trying to call family from Yarraville in Victoria which is 7kms from the Melbourne CBD on my Iphone 3GS with only 1 or 2 bars of coverage - I can't be understood on other end of the conversation as I keep breaking up. I take the Vline train to Geelong every day and the coverage drops out continuously but not with colleagues on Telstra.

I've been with Vodafone for 9 years and I'm getting really sick of the poor coverage. Will definitely go to Telsta when my contract expires.

1505 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is All Whisters, No Talk As Their Is No Reception at 24 Dec 2010 02:48:41 PM
This site is great, but vodafone has merely appologised and nothing has in fact been done to imrpove the service?

Nice idea though
24 Dec 2010 04:20:57 PM: Vodafone is actually making substantial investments in its network to improve its performance. Many news papers have been reporting this already. Please read around first.
24 Dec 2010 04:29:41 PM: Above poster, Vodafone have been all talk no action? Its all good saying they are making investments but is there any real evidence of this todate? Nope....
24 Dec 2010 04:37:04 PM: Of course not... If you made an announcement that you were spending $500 million in improving the network yesterday do you expect that you can finish all the necessary infrastructure tomorrow (or within a months time)? All staff know the amount of hard work and progress the company is trying to make through internal bulletins that have been distributed every week updating us.
24 Dec 2010 05:31:16 PM: and i take it YOU are an employee? why dont u make a we love vodafone site and leave this one to us who are treated like shit
24 Dec 2010 07:13:39 PM: Yes... I am an employee. I love how its changed from a talk about the facts (i.e. the network) to a personal attack on myself now. Yes, I admit our network isn't perfect, and there are some things that I'm not a real fan of in the company but at least I'm stating the facts. I empathize that some customers may not feel like they are treated well, but this isn't the case for a majority of customers. There are so many Vodafone employees who really go the bounds to deliver great customer service.
24 Dec 2010 10:43:02 PM: There are so many Vodafone employees who really go the bounds to deliver great customer service..............and that great customer service is what exactly???? I really would like to know.
27 Dec 2010 07:34:38 AM: you cant blame the worker obviously, its not at his level to do anything, as its a total network problem, the local guy that answers the phone cant do sh!t about it and should just say. I believe they would try to do whatever they can,and try all day to do it, but to just tell you they cant fix anything, they wouldnt have a job tomorrow would they, cos they would be sacked. Anything an employee would say here, would be only half the real matter of fact, as is with any employee stating their own workplace.

1502 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is worse than I thought it could ever be. at 24 Dec 2010 12:41:03 PM
to the employee below. $500 billion in network upgrades? is that a correct figure? and in what part of our contracts does it state poor network performance is acceptable? is it next to the stipulation of poor customer service is tolerated? or next to the stipulation that the company you're signing this contract with may merge with another global network and completely offshore all customer service based activity, bar store staff, at their own discretion? I'm happy that Vodafone employees are happy in their jobs and feel the need to support the company when times are tough, signs of a good person with loyalty where it should be. but don't neglect the fact that your company is responsible to one entity first and foremost; the majority stakeholder, in this case, us the consumer. So it's your responisbility to give us the time of day to complain about service from your network when it's underperforming, and not roll your eyes when we go into your stores, or treat us like a number when we call your call centres. we give you the dignity of allowing you to upsell and speed read our contracts when going through the motions of your sales process, so please allow us the same respect when we decide your service isn't good enough anymore and use other channels to vent our frustrations.
24 Dec 2010 07:35:01 PM: Completely agree. What an eloquent post. I too feel for most of the voda store employees, and the ones I have spoken to have been nice and understanding of the issues since they are experiencing it themselves. But there are a handful commenting on this website who are bitter to the point of being rude and arrogant. I hope they realise they are just making themselves and vodafone look even worse.
27 Dec 2010 07:42:18 AM: it is against Company Policy to comment either good or bad regarding Vodafone if you are an employee of the Company, this is directly for the media spokesperson for Vodafone to make, not for you to act apon. Consider yourselves warned, but for the rest of us, BRING IT ON - TELL US AND THEM HOW IT REALLY IS!
27 Dec 2010 09:09:04 AM: Have you not heard of free speech. Anybody and everybody is entitled to it without someone issuing threats. If they submit an honest view that is good enough. Any Company the resorts to threats against it's own staff is on the to
oblivion.
27 Dec 2010 09:28:43 AM: Agree, have they paid the money they owe India yet
27 Dec 2010 10:26:51 AM: No, just about every mid-large size organisations have policies which ban employees from making public comment. They do so at risk of having their employment terminated. Right or wrong, companies employ specialist communications people to handle media etc.
27 Dec 2010 01:09:32 PM: Yep they're known as "spin doctors" because they can twist and turn anything into a fine yarn. If an employee of a company is told to pull the wool over the customers eyes that is wrong, they should be encouraged to tell the truth not the "spin" as dictated by the PR companies. They are contracted and paid well to distort the truth. I should know because I am one of them, but VF is not one of my clients.
27 Dec 2010 01:12:22 PM: Since when is lying acceptable corporate or social behavior?
28 Dec 2010 10:34:52 AM: "27 Dec 2010 11:09:04 AM: Have you not heard of free speech" - I certainly have and what's more I actually know what the phrase means and no, it does not mean that a person can say whatever they like.

1501 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is network management at 24 Dec 2010 12:16:21 PM
i've be informed that even Vodafails network management is done offshore - India in fact with NFI with regard to local problems. yep, saving bucks at your expense, Vodaphoney suck.
25 Dec 2010 01:59:27 PM: Last I checked our network team is actually based in Aus. Makes it hard to physically work on a network whilst overseas, logically. However the Customer Care team are still able to check the status etc from overseas. Seems you were misinformed.
26 Dec 2010 11:46:45 AM: 'the last time you checked' ??? when was that - 2003??? you know what i'm talking about - nice try vodafail
26 Dec 2010 01:06:19 PM: Actually last time I check would be less then 2 months ago. It's up to you what you chose to believe, I know trying to assist on this site is a lost cause because everyone is too busy seeing red but I haven't lied about anything yet.

Ongoing Coverage issues @ Gold Coast- Carrara,Burleigh,Coomera,& also @ Coffs Harbour,Grafton,Tamworth. Online Maps shows Coverage is there in blanket form is it's not, they need to show levels of Coverage as some areas are just outright not there.

1494 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Turned my iPhone into an iPod at 24 Dec 2010 09:10:29 AM
I work in the Sydney CBD, and since Monday I have watched my signal drop as I catch the Train to work. By the time I have made it to my desk the last of my reception is gone.

This continues for the rest of the day until I start leaving the CBD - even though sometimes I get the little 'Edge' E icon in the corner of the screen just teasing me into believing I have reception.

At least I can listen to music on my phone right - because I really don't need a phone do I Vodafone?

1493 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is HAS LET ALL ITS CUSTOMERS DOWN at 24 Dec 2010 08:21:15 AM
I can tell you, its not just smart phone bandwidth hungry phones that are effected, for those who think its just iphone/HTC or whatever.

I have a plain Jane 3G phone, and mainly just use it for voice calls, the most basic of service, that requires the smallest amount of digital stream 9.6Kb or one voice channel to be exact, and I cannot even get that! garbled voice reception, dropped calls, No reception, always roaming, No timely SMS. When is the frustration going to stop!
