Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

12178 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is better on the 2G network at 12 Jan 2011 12:35:43 AM
I've been with Vodafone for a few years now and the reception has never been great in my area, but a guy at my local store told me that the reception is much better on the 2G network. I have a new iPhone now (after upgrading from the 2nd Gen one) and still works fine on 2G. I don't care about not having 3G, because everything still works on the iPhone fine, internet is slower but still okay. So just a tip for anyone experiencing coverage problems, try 2G for a while. If/once Voda fixes their 3G issues, you can switch back, but until then 2g is fine.
12176 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTE JOKE at 12 Jan 2011 12:03:28 AM
my mobile internet usb stick is a disaster, vodacrims even sent a usb dock to boost the signal ( which defeats the purpose of having mobile internet).
Well the booster dock is as useless as the internet service vodafone claimed they could provide.
This is fraud!

12174 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very Very, NEVER AGAIN at 11 Jan 2011 10:25:27 PM
I called Vodafail yesterday to register my complaint with them, same problems as everyone else. After all the media on TV and the internet about Vodafails problems they tried to tell me it was my phone. So they got me to reset my phone while I was on the phone to them and offcourse the call was then disconnected due to the reset. I thought they might call me back since they had my number, I was wrong, no call back. I was not going to call them back and wait again on hold. I was thinking that this is how they are dealing with most of the complaints, blame the phone, get the customer to reset, then the customer is gone as the call drops out due to the reset. I only joined Vodafail as the sponsors my favourite V8 Super Car team, NEVER AGAIN will I resign with them.
12173 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Completely! at 11 Jan 2011 10:20:40 PM
Frequently I receive text messages hours later or even the following day - I have lost count of the number of times that has happened!
12172 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Completely! at 11 Jan 2011 10:19:29 PM
I travel by train from Hawkesbury River to Sydney four days a week and I cannot have a conversation during that trip without it dropping out 3 or 4 times. I am not talking about tunnels here - I am talking about the main line via Hornsby, Epping, Eastwood and Strathfield! Frequently there is no internet access for the whole 60 minutes - sooo frustrating! Just before Christmas everyone with a Vodafone acount in the office in Surry Hills, right next to Central railway station, had no reception ALL day!
12170 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone sucks!!! at 11 Jan 2011 09:48:10 PM
I have an iphone 4. If I put any type of case on it, I have ZERO reception most of the time. So if I want reception, I have to use it without a case... I have already dropped the phone once- of course without the case, and the back broke costing me $80 to repair. I'm sure I'll drop it again, and since I have to use it without the case I'll have to pay to get it repaired again.
It's a lose/lose situation: no reception, or risk dropping it and breaking it and paying for the repairs.

Lots of call drop outs and bad reception. And still paying the same as if I was getting a good service. Wouldn't be so bad if I was.

12163 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Ridiculous at 11 Jan 2011 08:28:37 PM
Constant dropped calls, no reception in home, on the train, on the highway, or even in Sydney CBD. Now the internet baddies have my personal information. Well done Vodafone.
20 Jan 2011 12:42:34 AM: Let's be realistic here- Vodafone's system is stuffed so much of the time, and it's so slow when it;s working, that the real baddies probably couldn't be bothered, unless their heavy accessing of the system is what makes it so slow.

12156 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is all areas at 11 Jan 2011 08:04:07 PM
my boyfriend and i have been experiencing extremely frustrating problems with vodafone for many weeks now. some of these include; bad reception, dropping out while mid conversation, delayed text messages and when they come through they all come at once, speaking to someone in india when the problem is in Australia is very frustrating ( language barrier), "technical difficulties" when trying to call customer care and when trying to pay a bill (then they cut my phone of!), no internet connection. this company provides no service at all, we are very unhappy and will be contacting the telecommunications ombudsmen.
12155 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor everything at 11 Jan 2011 08:02:03 PM
I have the HTC and it turns off every 5 minutes. Very poor reception, only get 3G coverage possibly 1% of the time
12 Jan 2011 12:40:00 AM: The phone turning off by itself is a problem with the phone, not the service. The rest of it though... yeah, Vodafone needs to fix its game.
12154 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafucked at 11 Jan 2011 07:56:39 PM
7 months with no statements and not able to view online, kept getting told i can view my statements online(Couldn't view them due to there system error) or by calling a number for my balance ,i needed the statements to be reimbursed by work so balance kept getting bigger , worked out payment plan , but they repeatably disconnected my phones/internet without warning. Under contract so in the end i just stopped paying and got prepaid , still haven't been contacted by them. Also spent hours on hold or repeating the same shit to different people then getting the "we will have to transfer you to another department" after being on hold for 40mins then being on hold for another 40mins only to be told the same shit! I could go on for hours!
12 Jan 2011 12:52:30 PM: I have not been able to access my bill for 7 months either. same thing. spent two days talking to various idiots from vodafone. they have no recollection of my complaint so they can't cacnel my service because they think i never brought up this issue..... i am sooo angry right now. i think i'll jsut stop paying as well!!! get them to call me ... then i'll keep putting them on hold for three hours.

12148 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is could do better at 11 Jan 2011 07:37:01 PM
I've been a vodafone contract customer for about 5 years now. They offer great deals on new phones and really good contracts. There have definitely been some reception problems and I need to find out more about this breach of access to confidential customer information. The way I understand it VF has been allowing its contractors unlimitted access to all our customer records via an online portal. The details of this sound like a real worry. I'm yet to decide how upset about this I am and whether or not to join the class action. Having said that I must say I really like Vodafone, my experience with them has always exemplified superior customer service with any bill disputes being resolved quickly with either a refund or an offer to meet me half way. this generosity of spirit goes a long way. I can't help but worry that we will lose this if we throw them under the truck. My experiences as a Telstra and Optus were awful and I have to say I appreciate the best of a bad bunch.
11 Jan 2011 10:02:53 PM: I totally agree with this. I've been with Vodafone for a couple of years now and compared to my previous provider (what became Reward mobile) I was waaaaay happier with Vodafone. The coverage was actually really good (I could receive calls in the bottom floor of our building where others on other providers couldn't) and I also have to admit I've generally had good experiences with Vodafone customer service, both in-store and at call centers (admittedly the dealers can come across a bit dodgy). Except for Lara. I hate her.
The problem is, I think my established brand loyalty and the fact that my service issues are far less severe compared to a lot of individuals here had made me complacent about the declining quality of services.
But as each day goes on and I continue to experience dropped calls and poor reception, I really can't chalk it up to just "the network acting up". Because quite frankly it shouldn't be. I'm not keen on joining Telstra or Optus but Vodafone really needs to correct its act or it will end up losing me and my family members' plans.
If I or my family members end up a victim of this security breach then that'd be a whole new story. I'd absolutely go off my rocker. Their network coverage obviously needs to improve for them to continue to do business, but I'm particularly concerned about how they go forward from here re: storage of and access to customer data. I have no doubt that they've been negligent in that department.

13 Jan 2011 07:40:33 PM: That's the point every one should realise. Don't complain or call unless you have a real issue. Chances of your details being accessed are so low it's not funny. Unless you walk into a Vodafone store or call and give them your number and password!
12146 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is gay at 11 Jan 2011 07:17:12 PM

12143 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very fail at 11 Jan 2011 07:06:22 PM
Coverage is lousy - I work right next door to the Olympic stadium in newington where u would expect good coverage but I can't use my mobile there as it hovers between 0-1 bar. The Internet at home drops out all the time on my iPhone and is painfully slow. Vodafone used to be good - ive been with them since 1998 but over the past year the standard has dropped dramatically. Because I have to keep reloading pages on my iPhone due to drop outs I was 250mb over my allowance and copped a $130 charge! Very expensive mb!!!
12142 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Service Failure at 11 Jan 2011 06:59:48 PM
Since they joined with 3 Network my service has gone from 4-5 bars to nil, I can't even make or receive a phone call, so what is the point of offering all these calls for a certain plan if you can't make a call. Have sent a complaint to vodafone and have not heard from them
12136 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is generous to it's 3% of customers that want out at 11 Jan 2011 06:27:04 PM
Even if every post was a single new complaint about Voda say 11000 posts divide that into say 4000000 customers (theres more than that) and then say times in by 10 cos for every 1 that bothers etc...you get 2.75% of customers complaining including ones that haven't with very generous maths! Simple maths proves that the problem is affecting way less people then this site would make it appear. Talk about blowing things out of proportion. Soon things will be better for you 3% rest assured...
11 Jan 2011 06:37:48 PM: Simple logic tells you that 90% + of people do not even know about this site, and further to that the majority of people don't post on blogs. 11,000 customers represents a huge sample size of customers. If it is not such a big issue, why are you here even posting? I know we have had other VHA staff post here saying just about every customer is walking into stores these days abusing them. Now if that is true, that is a far bigger number than the 3% you claim this is affecting ;)
11 Jan 2011 08:38:18 PM: methinks he/she (let's call him Sheldon!) works for vodafone maybe??
11 Jan 2011 09:41:13 PM: I'm too tired to even check Opie's cheerful arithmetic. Can question it's ability to read (and maybe it's numeracy) whenthe post before was 12 135.
This site contains posts by up to 12,160 people. Let's say 11000 people are upset enough to post their complaints.Apparently only 10% of the unique visitors to this site.10 000 people- not a percentage of anything- who are able to write English well enough to detail or outline the Vodafone problem for them. 10,000 people with internet access.
And some cynical bean counter is promising "things will be better". I just wish Vodafone staff would p!ss off - what are you doing here? These people are the the Vodafone customers who really don't believe you any more.Maybe only 3% of Vodafone victims, which is probably close to 100% of VF customers - and you just write their troubles down because you've decided they aren't a large enough proportion of your customers and insult us,really insult us, with a nebulous promise.Just p!ss off.

12 Jan 2011 05:16:15 AM: Hey reread the post. I generously timesed the problem by 10 after eliminating a fair amount of non-unique or pro-vodafone customers. Let me assure you I don't work for Vodafone. Why the personal attack on someone trying to bring some rationality to all this. Why don't you want healthy debate? Why are you so attacking. You accuse me of a lack of literacy and numeracy skills but mate you just made yourself look like a dope. You did it to yourself.
12 Jan 2011 07:42:22 AM: I'm not your mate. And if you don't directly work for Vodafone, you're not only a suckhole for making promises on Vodafone's behalf that neither of you can keep,"you just made yourself look like a dope". It's not anything to do with kindness, I know it is impossible to have a "healthy debate" with an idiot. I look stupid by even dignifying your answer with a response.Perhaps I have misunderstood the purpose of this site;there'll be time for "healthy debate" when things go to court, and hopefully other places, like parliament. I don't like "debate" when it is just people trying to impose their own points of view on others, and trying to score points off "opposition".
Even if there was only 1 person, total, on this site, a miniscule proportion of Vodafone's customers, that one person was not getting his problem with Vodafone sorted until he made a lot of noise, which indicates the contempt Vodafone holds for its customers.

11 Jan 2011 06:15:53 PM: event without flooding, their network still has a lot of problem. Make no different
11 Jan 2011 06:25:03 PM: The mobile network, which transmits data wirelessly from tower (stick high up in air thing) to tower (stick high up in air thing) to person, who is hopefully not underwater?(ok-Vodafone doesn't- maybe never will again) But I thought that's why so many of us bought mobile phones?
11 Jan 2011 06:38:15 PM: Sorry mate it goes tower to exchange to tower at other end (if a mobile to mobile call). You may have thought that's why you brought a mobile. Doesn't make it reality. Coverage is metro and road based.
11 Jan 2011 08:59:46 PM: ...and towers work off magic, they don't need electricity.

I live just 30 kilometres from the Nation's Capital in a rural area. My coverage is ordinary at best and I continually lose calls between my home and the city, as there are several 'black spots' on the way. I have been a Vodafone customer for some years now, but if I wasn't contracted to them until May 2012 I would leave like a shot. Unless things improve dramatically by the end of my contract, I'm 'outta here' (unless a class action somehow gives me a way out BEFORE then).

12106 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is useless at 11 Jan 2011 04:15:12 PM
not only do i hate speaking to someone who barely speaks english and sounds like a robot reading from a script, my favourite would have to be recieving my bill with international calls of zero to 3 secs and getting sharged 2-3 dollars which add up in the end to a significant account. i understand you get charged by the minuter but zero seconds .....wtf!!!!
11 Jan 2011 04:26:51 PM: you immediately get charged $2 for an international call plus your standard flagfall and call rate per 30 or 60 seconds, so immediately you are up over $2 from the moment you ring someone. They slugged me with ridiculous data charges while I was overseas - nearly $2000 and I wasn't even using the internet much

12 Jan 2011 12:46:41 AM: Did you check out the cost of internet overseas and if the phone would stay connected to the internet unless you actually exited the program properly? My old Nokia used to stay connected unless I actually told it to exit, not just hit the red button to go back to the main screen - cost me a couple of hundred dollars for a few months until I found that out. If you get someone at the Call Centre, explain to them that you didn't get an explanation of the costs and they might be able to help you out.
12105 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst than foam cups! at 11 Jan 2011 04:09:05 PM
Am currrently on the phone trying to get through after being told to redial multiple times!
Have had issues with Vodafone for over 2 years. My blackberry curve was playing up, which took forever for them to acknowledged was faulty and I was getting charged ridiculous amounts for multiple messages being sent and vodafone's particularly laggy balance updater. I.e. It would tell me I had $200 of credit on my $49 cap plan when i had far less or it "couldn't provide a balance at this time". This would lead to my account going over, how can i manage my account if they can't tell me how much i got to spend? What? Spend less so they can have more of my money for less work? How many telco providers can't even provide you a normal account balance? I understand that it's not live, but be at least 1-2 days up to date.
Lara....oh Lara...How i wish you could actually understand a word i say. I've tried in futile to get Voda to fix issues, but this is just plain useless when you can't even get from point A to point B. I personally believe it is designed to just stall customers so they don't need to hire as many customer service operators on the other end in India.
Lastly, I for the love of god was reluctant to sign up, but have just signed up to Vodafone in December as my partner was also on the network (free calls voda to voda). First off, network signal has been shotty to say the least. I get calls that are patchy and I am on a new phone. My new blackberry torch 9800 (yes it's only just come out) sometimes losses reception and even rejects my sim. WTF? Yes Vodafone sucks and now i am stuck with them for another 24 months. Why can't you just work?
As i finish writing this...guess what? I'm stil waiting for a voda rep to answer my call...30 minutes in. Oh did i forget to mention that they are sending multiple bills for 2 different accounts? Which was what my call was regarding... And here comes the patchy reception from their own call center!
Voda I hope you get sued for every cent you've cost us loyal customers.

11 Jan 2011 04:21:31 PM: I too have had major billing issues, they never seem to get it right...this has only happened in the past few months, call up , complain, and get them to go through the bill, the 3 times I have got them to do this they have found errors on their end and end up saying a big SORRY and credit my account, im sick of having to do this, but watch your bills very closely ...

12097 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolute CRAP! at 11 Jan 2011 03:32:34 PM
Vodafone service is absolute s**t, given by telephone operators in that cannot understand you and cannot speak English!!!!
12092 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Frustrating as f*** at 11 Jan 2011 03:22:09 PM
Issue 1: Poor customer service? Maybe not super poor, but less than ideal for sure.
Once my previous contract ended just midway through last year, I bought myself a handset from online (a Nexus One shipped from the States) and changed myself to a Sim-only cap which included 3G data allowance.
3G didn't work. The Vodafone dealer/reseller told me I needed a new sim (er... ok) so I go to the official brand store and wait in line forever (at least the chick who served me was polite enough) and I told them my problem and that I was told to get a new sim. No questions, suggestions, second opinions, just an "ah, ok" response and they gave me a new sim. Still no 3G. I thought my phone was faulty, but then I swapped sims with a friend with the same phone and that magically worked (although my sim f**ked his phone up momentarily). So I succumb to calling the call centre where the very helpful individual on the other end of the line informed me that data wasn't enabled on my account. They helped switch it on for me but they couldn't answer why it was disabled in the first place, despite my probing and cajoling. Although what I -really- enjoy is the fact that the staff in-store couldn't even take the initiative to solve the problem properly by checking my account options to see whether data was enabled in the first place.
Issue #2: Reception issues
I've had audio quality issues in the past (others not being able to hear me) and chalked it up to my handset (an original 1st gen iPhone). I changed my phone and plan, but since moving to my new place I've noticed a brand new set of reception issues. Nowadays, my phone calls often consist of the other person's voice cutting in and out such that I can't even follow what words they're saying, let alone piecing together a sentence, and eventually the call just drops out. The other person can hear everything I say, I just can't seem to hear them. In my unit this seems to happen 99.99% of the time. I play the walk-around-the-unit-repeating-"hello? hello? are you there?" game until I find a spot where I can start to hear them. It's not my handset, because it doesn't happen everywhere in the world/Sydney. It's not my unit, because everyone else who passes through my unit (including my housemates) are fine. I have to admit I was in denial at first, but now I'm pretty sure I'm a victim of sh*t poor service.
My family's mobile plans are all through the one Vodafone account which I manage. I can only hope that they aren't experiencing the same issues as I am because I loathe to think that our family is funding this freaking circus freak show that is Vodafone AU.
Issue #3: Security breach
Seriously. WTF. How stupid can you freaking be? Any and all breaches should be traceable because every single staff member should have a unique friggen login ID (amongst other authentication protocols). And high-turnover/low-level staffers should have the most limited access to personal information possible (if a mere dealer is responsible for such a serious breach, then it is most -definitely- the fault of Vodafone AU and its poor business/IT practices).
If there are indeed instances of "communal" login IDs in place at Vodafone branches/resellers/whatever, I don't see how changing the passwords every 24hrs is helping to track/isolate an offending employee/dealer who is using a login that is also used by n individuals (where n is > 1).
Issue #4: Lara
I hate automated phone menus which ask for verbal responses/cues. But my goodness, Lara is the ONLY one who makes me swear like a sailor within 20 seconds every freaking time I call. I feel very sorry for the individual behind Lara's voice. I just know that if I heard her on the street I'd instantly think of Lara and be like "F*ck f*ckity f*ck aarrrggghhhh!" and want to punch her in the face.

On Dec23rd 2010, I was on holiday in Northern Rivers area and went to use my laptop. What did I find, No signal at all. Rang Vodafone who told me I had used my allocation for that month. I told then I was on a rollover plan. I was told this when I signed up at there upstairs Vodafone shop at Kotara Fair shopping centre. (Newcastle NSW) I was informed by operator that the rollover was only for pre paid, not post paid (Plan).NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD AT SHOP.
After repeated calls to Vodafone, I then rang a phone number for a Vodafone shop at Kotara Fair, and put through to manager. He told me the upstairs shop was found to be using dodgy practices and had been closed down. I then rang Vodafone again and imagine my surprise when operator told me that I was reconnected and 2 months free service. I agreed to this. Later on, I was thinking that the operator was very quick to tell me I was reconnected and free 2 months. Can only deduct that it was put on my file for if I rang again. Any offers are usually made by a supervisor or above. Not the operator. Very Strange.????

Ever since combining with "3" I have experienced a number of drop outs in call yet i am only 20 kilometres from the centre of Sydney, the largest city in the country with a population of 4 million people. The F3 freeway is also a "dead zone" for Vodafone it is ridiculous, yet Telstra has full service all over the city. Very frustrating

I am in the fortunate position of not having been a Vodafone customer for several years. I ran away when I had to speak to Lara. I cannot imagine a more infuriating, frustrating and futile waste of people's time than this absolutely pathetic IVR system. Just thinking about it makes me wonder at the insanity of this decision - honestly how much money did they think they were going to save? THey've lost thousands over the past 3 years by not having me as a customer and I'm sure there are many more out there. With the telco I'm with now (3), when I phone the call centre I speak to a human. Yes a real, live human. Yes I know they are in India somewhere but honestly I don't care, at least they speak to me like a human, can listen and adapt the conversation and actually solve my problem and answer my question not like some stupid robot. I SWEAR THAT IF THREE START USING LARA THEY WILL LOSE ME IMMEDIATELY AS A CUSTOMER. Just letting y'all know. Hopefully there is someone out there in telco land who is hearing this.

12064 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Ridiculous at 11 Jan 2011 01:57:13 PM
After ordering an iPhone 4 from vodafone, there were hundreds of screw ups - their end - with couriers, shipping and bills. For some odd reason, 3 weeks after I had received the initial iPhone, I was sent another one. I've given this to my brother as I had no use for it. When he tried connecting it in store, they claimed he had stolen the phone as the sim card was registered to someone else... a bit rich, considering he'd opened the iPhone box in store with the salespeople looking. Has this - the sim card shipped being registered to another person - happened to anyone else before?
11 Jan 2011 07:25:30 PM: Ridiculous! Of course he didn't steal it... YOU DID! You complain of hundreds of Vodafone screw ups but KNOWINGLY accept someone else's iphone that was mistakenly sent to you. Vodafone accidently made a mistake but you STEAL and then complain!! Outrageous.
11 Jan 2011 08:13:30 PM: Actually, once I'd received the second phone I phoned Vodafone to see why on earth I'd gotten it. They said that it was a replacement for the one that hadn't gotten sent that I'd phoned about (which I'd gotten). I told them I had gotten number one, they said that both were now mine to do what I wanted with.
11 Jan 2011 11:56:54 PM: ????????????? Slowly, slowly a picture is coming into focus of a company absolutely riddled with incompetence.

Also the data speed is terrible. I have4 GB allowance and when i start downloading stuff form HTTP sites, Vodafone either blocks or slows my down so the download fails.
sometimes I have to call the same number 10 times to get a connection otherwise I can get connection error.

12004 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Internet Fail at 11 Jan 2011 10:40:12 AM
My girlfriend and I subscribed to the $49 dollar mobile internet service. It worked perfectly, but after a month, slowed to dial up pace, if not slower. the connection was always poor. after 2 weeks, we called vodafone to be told it was a problem with the towers, 2 weeks later we were told it was fixed, 2 weeks later our internet still didn't work, 2 weeks later, we asked for a refund. a refund? thats out of the question for vodafone isn't it. 3 months free internet was their solution, a solution which even the simplest minded person would see the problem in. why would I want free internet that does't work in the first place! ive since switched to a different internet provider and 3 months after the original problem began, it still hasn't been fixed.

11989 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is More fail than the sun exploding at 11 Jan 2011 10:27:09 AM
I cancelled an iphone plan and was let out with no trouble due to lack of reception. However, they required me to return the phone to them using the express post parcel bag provided, which was fine. Except that the bag didn't come. about a week later, I had to call to chase this up, apparently the bag was never sent, so they said they would mail a new one that afternoon, I checked they had the correct address, which they did and everything seemed fine. However, I then started receiving bills from vodafone trying to charge me for the iphone handset that I was meant to be returning to the value of almost $1900. I called them back. This time I was told not to pay the bill and that a bag would be express posted to me. This went on for over 3 months. THREE MONTHS! to the point where it has affected my credit rating and I had letters from debt collectors trying to get the $1900 from me. I called vodafone several times during this period, and was told repeatedly to wait for the bag they were once again going to send out. I asked if I could pay to send the bag myself, they said no. I asked if I could return the phone to a retail vodafone store, they said no. I didn't want the iphone, I wasn't using the iphone, yet they were still trying to charge me while they were the ones delaying sending me the bag to return the phone.
I ended up calling the ombudsmun.
Eventually the bag arrived, I returned the phone, yet I was still being harrassed by vodafone and a debt collector because vodafone had failed to put a note on the account.
The service I received was absolutely terrible, and I now have a tarnished credit history due to their negligence. I will never ever be dealing with vodafone again and am encouraging all my friends to leave vodafone also.
VERY UNIMPRESSED!

I have been with Vodafone for over 4 years and in the past 6 months I have been disgusted with the level of customer service. Ques on hold of up to 1 hour and when I do finally speak to someone they can offer me no help, that is if they can speak English. The stores are not much better, advising I am the only one with these problems...any of these sound familiar:
No Coverage
Calls Drop Out repeatedly
Poor Battery Life, I have to charge my at least twice a day
Text and Voice Message delays, sometimes I don't even receive them
I am at a loss as to what to do, no one seems to be able to help me and I am locked into a contract for the next 18 months!

I made the mistake of movng to Vodafail prepaid in April last year, when i bought my iPhone outright.
I have HOPELESS reception, EVEN in Sydney City! I have countless number of times come and gone from work, i live on the Illawarra Line, with "NO SERVICE".
I ALSO have call drop outs, and the Internet????? O.M.G!!!! What Internet??????
Almost worse than the calling reception!
My friends keep telling me to just port my number, i can't tell you how CLOSE i am.
Just as well i'm on prepaid, and this is a very good option.
God forbid i am never in an emergency, and desparately need to contact family.

There is one thing that Vodafone is good at. Texting me to let me know my $90 bill is due and texting me to remind me to pay my bill.
I get these texts just days after having multiple call drop outs, and literally no service in Strathfield one afternoon and having to go pay to use a PAY PHONE, having multiple texts being charged and never received by my friends over a 4 month period, me never receiving my friends texts, not having any reception the entire time I was in the Hunter Valley on a holiday.
As of today I am now using Optus but I am hoping they would be kind enough to waive the last bill since I was rarely -and at times- never receiving their service so what the heck am I actually paying for?

11911 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 11 Jan 2011 08:11:06 AM
I have wireless broadband and it is so unpredictable - when it will work and when it won't i.e. half the time the Internet doesn't work so I have to use an Internet cafe to use the Internet to complete my assignments. I am paying full price for the service, so why do I have to go and pay extra to use another service? It is outrageous and the reason why I choose vodafone at the time was because it was a large company with a high coverage rate. And sometimes when the internet does work, it is extremely slow - leaving me to wait for ages for it to upload one page. I have been trying to contact customer care various times and they have a large wait so they said they can call me back in half an hour. When they did call me back in half an hour, I had to wait again - so I hung up as I was busy. I also have a contract with vodafone for mobile and there isn't very good reception most of the times and sometimes embarrasingly my phone cuts of in the middle of conversations. I have been very unhappy for a while.
11910 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is dangerously inept at 11 Jan 2011 08:05:06 AM
My contract was up in June 2008, and in May 2008 I was moving to London for a year.
Prior to leaving, I called and confirmed that I would obviously NOT be continuing my contract, and requested I pay it out then as I wouldn't be using my phone for the last month of the contract.
The agent was friendly, and said she'd arranged that for me. Stupidly, I took the call centre agent at her word, and only discovered 18 months later that there was actually one more payment that the agent failed to tell me about.
Not being in the country, the payment was referred to a collection agency, and a black mark was put on my credit rating. (I found this out only when I was applying for a home loan, on my return, and I was offered a lesser value home loan because of it.)
As soon as I learned this, I paid the outstanding $70, then I called the collection agency, and the Indian call centre - at least 5 phone calls of 10-15 mins each.
Each time I was told that a record would be made that the payment was received, and the note on my credit rating removed.
2 1/2 years later, this mark remains on my credit rating. Totally pathetic.

I live in the Northern Rivers (NSW) and experience inconsistent reception with my Vodaphone iPhone. I can see three bars, pick up my phone to make a call or write a text and almost as soon as I touch the phone I lose all reception. Other times I just don't get any reception at all. 11894 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 11 Jan 2011 07:04:39 AM
Have had numerous issues with Vodafone over recent months. For a complete train trip from Sydney to Woy Woy, I only received a maximium of 2 minutes reception (1-2 bars.
Further to this, I have had significant delays in receiving voicemails and am regularly droppping out of phone calls.
I am now very frustrated by the fact I am paying for a service that I am essentially not receiving. I am sure that when I signed the 24 month contract, my agreement to enter into it was formd on the basis that reasonable services - especially network coverage, would be provided. I will be investigating my options to withdraw from the contract if the problems cannot be rectified.

11893 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 24 month contract never ending at 11 Jan 2011 07:01:43 AM
I'm frustrated with Vodaphone or 3 Hutchinson because when I signed a 24 month contract for wireless internet I thought that it would stop after the 24 months but I was wrong. Vodaphone or 3 Hutchinson had no problem in charging me after my 24 month internet wireless contract I thought had expired. Evidently you will continued to be charged unless you call and stop the service. When I called the call centre that said they continued to charge me (despite me not using the service) because I was apparently happy with the service. The 24 month contract did not end when it supposed to. A letter of complaint to their Brisbane office has been ignored since September.

And funnily enough, your reception vs phone cover issue is like the inverse of what was initially reported when the iPhone 4 was release; where the use of a case was required to prevent reception issues caused by an inherent design flaw involving the placement of certain components, a metal reception band, the position of your hand on the phone and the fact that the human body conducts electricity.
