26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have 4 laptops in my office all with separate wireless modems 1 vodafone 1 crazy johns( vodafone ) 1 telstra dodo (optus) just lately the the vodafone & the crazy johns drop out there is signal but doesn't allow me to connect. To rule out laptop problems I swap laptops & dongles only the vodafone dongles don't work this system has worked for years, i think they are shedding data connections in favour of phone calls. Lucky I can change dongles easily.

16897 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 150% FAIL at 21 Apr 2011 11:47:29 PM
My problems with Vodafone have only ever increased day by day. A while back I thought I was in luck compared to other users who were experiencing so many vodafail problems but now I am in the same boat as them - I am paying at least $99 per mth for service I am getting only around 25% of the time?!!! I have NO PHONE RECEPTION FOR CALLS, INTERNET USAGE for around 75% of the day - NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! It can take me about 30 calls to get in contact with my husband with every call attempt saying "CALL FAILED". Once I can finally get in contact with him, the call will drop out within a minute or less. THis is our only way of contacting eachother when we have a toddler and I'm pregnant with twins! We rely on reliable mobile service which we are not getting!!! I have people claim that they try to contact me on a daily basis with NO LUCK - my mother states she can try phoning me a million times before she finally gets thru to me. I receive delayed msgs all of the time. When I have tried phoning vodafone to complain, I have chosen the option for them to call me back but once they have phoned me back, the call has dropped out due to no reception and they don't even bother to phone me back again!!!! WHAT THE?! So I have to start again! And this happened around 3 times in a row before I finally had a phonecall that lasted more than a couple of minutes. Could not believe they didn't have the taste to phone me back after the call dropped out thanks to vodafone. Surely they are all aware of the problems. I am sick of paying so much for a service I am not getting. I am really starting to lose it emotionally due to the continual frustration with the daily problems with vodafone. I will be contacting them again shortly and enquiring about my options - one of being NOT being charged for a service I'm not getting until their issues are resolved!!!
22 Apr 2011 10:49:35 AM: You have given Vodafail a fair crack of the whip and they have not responded in a timely and professional manner.

Methinks, time to get the big guns out.

Your next step is the TIO. Vodafail does listen to the TIO.

The contact details are at the top of the page in the How To Complain tab, it literally only takes 3 minutes to complete the online form, then Vodafail has a set period of time to respond to your query.

Vodafail has to contact you and come to a mutually agreed resolution, that could include termination of contract with no exit fees.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

16887 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is not as bad as some at 21 Apr 2011 03:17:01 PM
I was aware of all the stories so when my coverage went from patchy to nil I was not surprised. I filled in the support form to ask what had changed. The reply email included the standard text about coverage and closed my call. I then phoned to complain as my question had not been answered and was advised my account was overdue. A simple banking error which was camoflaged by all the current issues and over zealous closure of my call.

16881 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Huh? at 21 Apr 2011 10:40:50 AM
After having constant connection problems with Vodafone, they blamed my iphone so i rolled over my contract and paid a fee to get a new iphone. Surprise surprise, i'm constantly uncontactable, receive voicemails days later, texts either never arrive or days late and constantly unable to make a call even though it says full reception. Have contacted vodafone and ripped into them countless times and get the same response "I understand your frustrated" or "We understand you are having network difficulties" or "we understand you need to be contactible" The last straw was when all my calls went straight to voicemail (of which I still havnt got those voicemails a week later) for hours and hours and as a result, my kid was stuck on the other side of town for hours. NOT FRIKKEN HAPPY! so once again, on the phone to 'We understand India' and after a half hour convo that got no where, she promised to call me back, and never did. I called them back and they hung up on me while trying to transfer. THEN!!! this is good... another Indian calls to make sure i was happy with the customer service! So i vent YET AGAIN. Hang up with no resolution. Get another call in an hour from... wait for it... AN AUSSIE! Wanting to check if I was happy. VENT AGAIN! She agreed that Vodafone was bull shit and understood why I was p*ssed off. Also found out that all calls go over seas too which is terrific cause there is a massive communication problem there and nothing ever gets resolved. I have had to go and buy a pre paid sim card and phone now to use when vodafone fails. in the past couple days, that has been 3 times. What a crock of sh*t. BAH!!!!!

Use vodaphone Iphone drops out in EVERY cak an average of 35 calls PER DAY
Internet USB on average drops internet every 4n to 5 minutes - what used to take me 1/2 hours work to do now takes over 2 hours because internet constantly drops out - frustration is incredible I have spent many nights in tears - up to midnight each night from 9pm just to record my days work which I should be able to record in half an hour. Have had 3 replacement USB's for my broadband connection - each one has failed and I've gone back to using one that is 3 years old and its the only one that works properly - but still doesn't stop the internet dropping me every few minutes. I am a workplace trainer taking care of 80 students and when they send me work to mark I have to mark it that night and send them a reply - because my internet fails so badly sometimes I have to rely on my iphone email to answer their questions and that's a lot harder because of the small typing area on a phone. FED UP BIG TIME!!!!!!!!

16837 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Decent coverage, worse with the new phone at 18 Apr 2011 03:56:08 PM
I recently requested a new fone and to be upgraded to a nokia C7 without charge. They have now billed me a not even a month into the contract with a due date 6 days before the month ends??? Requesting $81 for a $45 unlimited plan. I rang them up and requested them ; to change this ; to talk to an Australian vodafone rep ; why the hell Im being billed before the month is even over ; why I am being charged a $9 freight fee and $0.72 for paying my bill last month ; why I was told I would not be charged any extra and now am before I have even gotten through the first month. I told them to fix it or im not paying the bill, so they can carry on as long as they like, looks like free mobile service for me, as Im not paying till they recitify the situation. Im over their ridiclious crap.

Impossible to make a phone call or receive a phonecall. Was put on the Infinite plan with an IPhone and there is no 3G reception up here so impossible to get on the net and there is no normal reception so it's impossible to make or receive a phonecall! After several emails, faxes and phone calls to Vodafone, choice but to lodge my complaint with TIO. So far, I have received a first attempt at mediation with a Vodafone representative. His offer was that "If you return the Hub we will cancel your contract as of the day we receive it". Back to the TIO, they said they will now write to Vodafone and give them three (3) weeks to table an offer exceeding the original and I can then decide if that new offer is more acceptable. As my complaint has been active and ongoing (Vodafone acknowledges this) for three (3) months, you can appreciate what I am expecting.

16813 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mobile Broadband FAIL at 16 Apr 2011 01:01:07 PM
The mobile broadband we have through them was working pretty fine for a few months, but over the last few weeks has been absolutely dreadful and almost useless. With the contstant dropouts it would probably be better using dialup, because even though it's slow at least it stays online and completes actions. If only some other decent services were available at our house I would change within a heartbeat. Also don't know that I can call their support due to the extreme waiting times and the fact that they only have a 1300 number listed which will cost me a dollar a minute from my mobile :(

I was walking passed Vodafone two months ago and noticed a new deal, $45 unlimited calls, 1g and international texts. I brought a data plan for $4 that gave me an extra 700mb. So my total bill should be $49. However I just checked my account and it said that I own $145. I have not call international and I know that 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers are not included. I have phoned and their accounts team and they were as useless as a ashtray on a motor bike. Telstra here I come...

I signed up for a 24 month contract ($79), added an extra handset and plan ($49)to my existing account just over month later, received the next bill and instead of being charged for the monthly fee, I was being billed for what should have been the CREDITED amount, eg 79 & 49 should have totalled $128/month - instead billed approx. $850. Every month, hundreds of dollars were accruing against my account while dozens of calls to Vodafone were placed, all the while being assured the problem would be resolved. I ended up having to pay out the two contracts in one lump sum. The whole experience has damaged my credit rating.

16696 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Big fat FAIL at 6 Apr 2011 07:17:18 PM
This was the email I wrote.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to make a complaint of my disappointing experience with Vodafone Customer Care as well as the Vodafone Service Centre located at 47 Park Road, Milton, Qld.
I visited the service centre today, (6th April 2011) to get my Nokia N97 repaired. Upon arriving just after 9am, I was informed by a staff member Danielle, that my phones IMEO number was not on my account. She asked me to return with a receipt of my puchase as they were not able to look at my phone without proof that the mobile was linked to my acct. I returned to the service centre at about 1pm with a "confirmation of upgrade" letter received previously from vodafone with details of the start date on my 24 month contract on the same N97. This time I was attended by a male staff member who advised me to call customer care since I did not have my receipt. (Why didn't Danielle tell me that at 9am?)
I rung customer care and spoke with Selvin who advised he would ring me back as he had to contact another department to link my IMEO with my account.
When Selvin rung back to say it had been done, the male staff member I was speaking with had left and I was informed he was on lunch. I would have appreciated it if he had let me know before he left. Danielle from my first visit at 9am then came out and took over.

All in all, I am disappointed that Vodafone did not take ownership for not linking my IMEO number to my N97 and wasted my time and fuel driving back and forth to the service centre. The service centre staff all exhibited poor attitude with dealing with me. No one was expressly rude to me, but neither did any of them care or try to help. On my last visit at around 3pm to pick up my phone, both the male staff member who went to lunch as well as a female co-worker were busy looking at internet footage of a girl riding a show jumping cow. I know this because they were chatting about it as I was waiting for my number to be called, by the way, there were no other customers waiting while the discussion on the show jumping cow took place.
It is highly unfortunate that your vodafone service centre staff are so lacking in professionalism.

Up till today, I was one of the few customers defending vodafone as I have been a customer for a number of years and I had not experienced technical difficulties that have been reported.
I am writing to tell vodafone that I will not continue on as a vodafone customer once my contract is up in Dec 2011. Take ownership when you stuff up and try to employ people who have some semblance of customer service.
I work in a company that employs 15'000 people in Australia. I will be letting as many of my co-workers know how frustrated and disappointing vodafone's service has been.

Lastly, please take off the $20 credit to my bill. I am not interested in monetary gain and cannot be bought off with $20. I just want an apology for Vodafone staff dropping the ball especially when you guys are apparently trying to retain customers and 'do better'.

That computer generated letter sent from your CEO is laughable.

Where do I start? Vodaphuckt is the antichrist of telecommunications! Their unbelievable waiting time to get customer service (funny name that) on the phone just makes you puke and so you try the website - same, but worse because you have to wait soooooooo long for pages to load because the site is soooo overloaded with disgruntled people who just tried to call them! Add to this the call dropouts (good going guys -each time the call drops out, I have to pay another flag fall on the re-connected call)and the crappy customer service and you've got a business going broke by the minute. I called them to express my dissatisfaction (I have been a customer for about 10 years) and the best they will do for me? They offered me a up-grade to a more expensive plan - at my cost! The only advantage? I didn't have to pay the break fee from my current plan and also i would have to sign up for another two years!! Gee, how generous Vodaphuct!

I'm in the Geebung area of Brisbane and have both vodaphone mobile broadband and vodaphone prepaid mobile telephone accounts. Regrettably I recently renewed my broadband account for 12 months, as vodaphone appeared to be lifting its game. Unfortunately, and in hindsight predictably, this perceived improvement in service delivery was short lived. I'm tired of waiting several minutes for a webpage to connect, only to have the search time out. If vodaphone are going to continue to sell mobile broadband accounts in this area they have an obligation to customers to ensure their mobile towers have capacity to service the number of customers in the area. Presently I'm lucky to get 5bps upload and this figure regulary fluctuates down to 0bps, which is why I can never get access. I relation to the vodaphone mobile telephone service, its coverage is poor compared to other mobile services, with most call connections dropping in and out. Calls are regularly terminated mid sentence due to the poor coverage. Vodaphone if you're going to sell a service please first ensure there is a service to be sold!

No longer in a mess .....I returned to Telstra! Savvy mobile phone deals were praised on a 6.30pm TV show as being the cheapest and better deal, and that they use the Vodafone network. The website stated that my postcode (10km 'as the crow flies' from the Gold Coast) was suitable for this service. Unfortunately, the mobile phone had no reception inside my home, and only sometimes had reception outside the home. The staff also 'ported' the same phone number. Several phone calls to Vodafone and 2 weeks later, it still hadn't been ported, even though I was told over the phone that it had been.
5 Apr 2011 08:38:24 PM: You think that's bad, spent a week trying to port my number to vodadead from 3, a week later they ported my 3 number over the top of my business number and disconnect my business number. 16653 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is real bad at 4 Apr 2011 02:40:46 PM
Using a Vodafail Data card in Wynnum 4178. 3G drops out frequently and signal strength varies from hour to hour....maybe it's go something to do with the wind, birds flying past, coulds in the sky....I've been told it's got nothing to do with the Vodafail network.

When 3G drops out 2G simply fails to work what so ever.

I was told by the helpdesk that my antivirus interfered with the signal strength. That might even be believable if I had the card plugged directly into my notebook. I don't - it's plugged into a Netcomm router.

I know there is nothing wrong with the router as I've used it with other 3G services and also via Vodafail in Perth/Sydney in the past.

When are the network upgrades actually due...is there a project rollout plan to review the status of certain areas.
4 May 2011 11:10:58 AM: The bayside and the sunny coast have some of the worst reception rate from my experience! Used to have a 3 mobile broadband card and it worked fine until last year when 3 and vodafone merged. Fail! Same goes for my phone service unfortunately :(

Dropped calls, poor battery life, the list goes on. Why am I sticking with them? When I signed up for the contract the vodafail employee messed up, meaning that I get a couple of gigs of data, 300 minutes of phone calls, unlimited texts and an iPhone 4 for $29 per month - I'm not being charged for the handset. Least they could do, given all the network problems I've been having.

I have even switched my phone to 2g to see if I get better reception but nope it isnt better.

Sitting at work (Bris CBD) will regularly be sitting here with full bars yet get voicemail from a missed call, also calls drop mid-call randomly. At home often seeing my phone go from 3 bars to no service at all. Data access is pretty fail too. Its a company phone though, and so despite hundreds of employees all bitching about the same thing across several different states... we're stuck with Vodafail :/

Vodafone gave me extra downloads when I signed up for the 1phone4 upon it's initial release. I consistently have data drops outs and sub dial up speeds (if I even get a returned page) every morning on the way to work.
I don't know why I have extra data when I can't use it during times I need to.
I was trying to do some internet banking for an urgent purchase but in the end took so long I hunted for an internet cafe (not via my iphone!!) and did what I needed there.
I will finish up my contract and NEVER go with Vodafone again. Other carriers may be more expensive but there is no point paying for a service if you're not getting it.
Disgrace...

This is just a general complaint about vodafone as a customer for abotu 4 years now this is now my 3rd contract with vodafone and i have to say it's gotten a lot worse. I was happy originally with my sony phone but iPhone is a whole other level of terrible as far as vodafone is concerned. My iphone 3G was bad enough with dropped calls, slow internet speed and lazy phone but iphone 4 has reached a new heights of epic fail. I can't get onto anything on the net with my iphone 4 becuase it simply drops out due to "timed out service", phone banking changed my life but i can't do that at all with westpac or commbank, ebay, facebook forget it, i can't do anything via my phone. I went to NSW and the internet was non-existant. I have finally sent a mass complaint to vodafone directly and i'm glad that i'm not the only one just plain angry now at how bad the service is yet vodafone don't fail to send you bills every month on time, that' just about the only service they're providing!

Relatively happy Vodafone customer in Gold Coast / Brissy for the last 13 years.
Noticed coverage was really going down hill in the last 7 or so months in my office and home location in Bris.. ( all of a sudden I would drop calls in a lift that worked for 4 years!? ) Hadn't done anything about it.

Spending $150 per month, I went OS, had started a new business & on return had missed paying the bill for 3 months. Bad I know!!
I used to get an SMS reminder to pay the bill -- and that was what I worked off.
All of a sudden they weren't doing these?
In the Brisbane airport at 4pm on a Tuesday I get a call advising there is $800 outstanding ( 3 months + global roaming ). I apoligised and told them I would fix it up after I check in to my accom in Launceston in 3.5 hours.

That wasn't good enough, barring activated, pain in the butt to get going again.

Nice service guys.
Happy Optus customer.

16497 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is True indian company at 31 Mar 2011 11:46:28 PM
What a laugh this is. I have a shared business plan with 3 numbers connected. I also have my personal number hooked up to three. My three number came out of contract, so I decide to have one of my business numbers removed to allow my three number to migrate/port into my shared business plan, sounds simple? Yes...to an Australian. I phoned the vodafone business line, that where all the bright people are Right...Wrong, for your money's worth you get a Indian bloke who couldn't grasp what I wanted. So after explaining to him in simple slow English, he said I can help you with that. So here said it would take 48hrs for your three number to be ported to vodacrap. Within hours my three number stopped working.. Great no personal phone thanks. So I waited for 48hrs in the mean time I sent of an email writing to say just which or how will my number start to work since both my sims no longer work, the three sim and one off my vodadribble plan. Received a reply 48 hrs later, I was over the moon that they took the time to reply I mean rock gods never send replys so why would vodapoo. I was told to go to my local vodalost store and get a sim card, no explanation what to do then. So I lined up to get served 40 mins later, only to be served by a kid that was clueless, so he spoke to his supervisor who said for me to go into next door to the three shop and they would fix it up because it's three fault. So waited next door for 10mins until one of the smarter staff could look into the system to work out what's going on. They couldn't log into my account because my three number was gone out of the system, so she tried my vodapoision account and discovered the nice Indian bloke had removed 2 of the 3 shared business numbers off my account and attached my three number to my only working number, like why you can't attached 2 numbers together, but he did to the point no one was able to fix it, so after 2hrs trying to sort this mess out, they sent me on my merry way and told me they ring me when they could sort it out. Mean time your ported number will be off line for another 24hrs. Great I said. Now I was given a blank sim card earlier, and I said don't you have to copy the sim serial number to link it to my ported number when you sorted out the mess, oh yeah the staff member said, and wrote it down on a bit of scrap paper. I guess it means it won't be connected for awhile if at all. But wait there's more... I can't login to my vodaflop account, that doesn't work now. But wait there's more... After emailing the nice Indian man I'm now getting spam in my inbox from India for web designing.....so let this be a lesson no matter what they say about improvements on there propaganda website is all smoke and mirrors. No bang for your bucks from this Indian global company, just lies, thanks vodalost.
1 Apr 2011 08:36:50 AM: glad to see somebody speak there mind about vodaflop, vodafink, vodasmoda, i am on your side about there help and service, i would NEVER go to vodafone ever again once this $99 a month no service 99% of the time only 8 months left to go. i wish you well with this problem but dont hold your breath.
1 Apr 2011 02:40:27 PM: Ok here's part 2 of the above story. After half a day of no phone call from vodaempty I called there head office in downtown India, as it turns out they got all my numbers back online including my ported number, but wait there's more... Sorry sir it will be another 48hrs to connected your ported number from three to voda, grand predicted total 7 days offline with my ported number, I'm something will balls it up again considering that the call quality from India was in par with the moon landing in the 1960s good on you vodalost for showing your customers you can still ask for your money every month and give a sub Standard call quality to customer don't give a care line. 7 days with your number not working, who in there right mind would port from telstra or optus to vodadodge
1 Apr 2011 10:35:46 PM: vodajoke will be vodasmoke or vodakapoof and will be much like the joke they were in the mid 1990"s and after finally having it almost perfect in 2009 they decide to merge with 3 network and now it a complete vodashamble or vodaitsnotmyproblem but i will transfer you to my supervisor and after 30 to 50 minutes and no answer, someone asks if they can help you and its not the section that can help you and you are transfered again only to find out there closed and you have to ring back in business hours. vodacrumbles do you know how to run a business ?. apparently not according to the general vodafone customers leaving to get a network that can provide a service. vodashame its no use having the extra towers you have promised this year if you have nobody to use them. from the i cant wait for the last 7 months of contract to go so i can really tell vodaphoney where the tower should be stuck.
2 Apr 2011 07:34:10 AM: Agree on day 4 with porting issues still no number have now blog vodatwits on Facebook and vodacorpse at head office Hutchinson. 4 Apr 2011 08:19:32 PM: Well here I am again this time last wk I spoke to vodamumbai and ask them to port my 3 number to vodaconstipation, and was told the whole process would take 48hrs. Well now it's just about a week, and have vodablog them on Facebook and on there vodasite, and also been to vodapurgatory store, and even sent a dear John letter to hutchinson Australia. And yet not one vodazombie has had the compassion to give me some glimmer of hope, and contact me. So now I'm taking to heart to support the passion of all of us poor people ejected by vodapoision to do my bit and to blog there pages till they port my number or till my contract expires in august or until I get sued for been a pest which ever comes first.
5 Apr 2011 10:00:56 PM: ok as it couldnt get any worst it has after a week my 3 number ported over to vodasuck but it was ported straight over the top of my business number, so now my clients cant ring me and the number has gone to quarantine. at the moment waiting for numbers section to open 8am so vodaaussie can grab my number and return it to me at the start of trade in the morning. also suspect vodamumbai has disconnected my 1g date that i added to that number. Vodafone Indian staff refused to document issues or acknowledge support / technical notes which I wanted expressly on record. They then tried to claim that the calls I was involved in were not always being recorded, contrary to the information supplied by Vodafone AU staff.

Tech support / customer support do not want to look bad in VHA's eyes, otherwise they will lose the ODC support contract. Bring the customer support staff back to Australia, with Aussies having jobs, instead of Indians lying to customers to save their jobs.
22 Apr 2011 07:35:40 PM: I have worked for vodafone and telstra no longer work for either. both Are bad but vodafone has gone down hill very quickly. I have been flat out lied to on the phone to them. It is true howeve that not all calls are monitored. It is a semi random selection done by machine. The monitoring is done either by a team leader sitting in on the call real time. Otherwise 1 or 2 calls are recorded generally daily. So you have not been lied to on that point. However there is a chance you could have been 1 of the recorded calls. And they should check that.

All I can say is you get what you pay for.
1 Apr 2011 09:30:07 AM: to be honest, I paid an absolute mint for my internet connection ($150 for 12 gigs - I go through it too.. 12 gigs would last me 3-4 weeks).. For that kind of money I expected it to be reliable. It really wasn't that cheap. And just cause something's cheap doesn't mean they can advertising it as something that works. If they wanted to sell us a 2nd rate service they should have said clearly on the packaging: "this product may not actually work (at all)". That way we'd know BEFORE we purchased it. Further, when we enquired on their "customer (dis)service" lines, they should have just told us that things weren't working their end. Not lied to us as they did throughout September, November and December expecting us to pay for something that wasn't there.

I don't mind paying more for something that works. But no matter what I pay, I expect to get what they tell me I'm getting. No lies. That's really dishonest and I will never trust Vodafone again. I'll also keep an eye out for wherever Nigel Dews works next - because I won't trust that company either!!

What can I say, once burnt, twice shy!

16428 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extremely frustrating at 27 Mar 2011 11:28:50 PM
After months of frustration, I was promised I could cancel the contract without having to pay the early cancellation fees . I would lose the 120,- I paid for the phone in the contract but that was all according to the Vodafone Manager. I just received a bill though for 857,34 for early cancellation which goes against everything they had agreed upon. It looks as though the whole process starts all over again now and also now I have a new contract with Optus (which is great)
I hope that one day this company will file bankrupt.
28 Mar 2011 09:49:50 AM: Take the bill back to Vodafone and then the TIO if they continue to renege on the fee.

Day 3 and our network is still down. How can anyone take 3+ days to fix a mobile service? This is outrageous incompetence.
24 Mar 2011 08:59:27 PM: OMG 3 days! I've just got through day 1 without service. Looking forward to going back to Telstra - don't care that I'll be paying more at least it's damn good service.
27 Mar 2011 10:09:49 AM: You won't be paying more with Bastards Inc. (I mean Telstra). THey have great new prepaid plans which piss all over anything that Vodafail have (and no, I don't work for any Telco).

16401 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FUBAR at 23 Mar 2011 04:09:59 PM
For 3 months now I have been trying to transfer my mobile number from the vodaphone account of my former employer to my own personal vodaphone account. All paperwork was filled out and copies of driver's licences etc all attached and faxed to vodaphone. almost a week later, nothing had been done. the paperwork was faxed an additional 10 times and emailed twice before someone at vodaphone finally had the document in their hands. I signed up for a month to month sim only contract and almost 3 months later, i hadn't received a bill. I checked with vodaphone and I they cannot give me any info because I don't have a PIN for my former employer's account.
Out of desperation, I went back to the vodaphone shop which originally signed me up and they told me the account hadn't been created and the transfer period had expired. They re-enstated the transfer and signed me up for a new account promising me that all would be taken care of. Now five days later, nothing has changed. I don't have an account, and I can't get any information out of the brain dead simpleton's on the other end of the phone.
Honestly, how hard is it to do a simple transfer of title from one vodaphone account to another. It's not even an intercarrier transfer.
I need to keep my number, otherwise I would just cut my losses and change carrier's. As it stands, I'm going to see this through and once the transfer is finally complete, start the just as painful process of porting my number to a new carrier.
I will never use vodaphone again, and I definetely won't be recommending vodaphone to either an individual or a business.
How can a company this broken be allowed to trade.

16400 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is VERY EXTREME! at 23 Mar 2011 03:43:22 PM
My work has mobile phones with Vodafail (aka Vodafone)...tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since Telstra started trying to port the numbers across. First it was because the account number was incorrect when in fact it wasnt. Vodafail eventually admitted that error to be theirs...now they are saying the primary account holders DOB does not match. After calling Vodafail and putting in all the correct information (PIN etc) I was told that there was no DOB on the account (So why take a copy of a Driver's Licence!!) and that my boss would have to call back on the exact same number and even talk to possibly the same person and then the DOB could be added, even though it should have been in there from the start. Well done Vodafail! You just cost yourself a few $$$ by being reported to the TIO!

I live inb Samford Village north west of Brisbane. There is only one transmitter here and it has been down now for 24 hours. I rang them to report it yesterday morning and to see whats happening last night, they said it would be up at 7 this morning, well guess what, it isn't!! Now I work from here, so today I'm faced with having to get in the car and drive over the hill to Ferny Grove to get reception. Don't know if you are aware but it is going to be 30+ degrees ie really hot, so do I have to swelter in the park in the car to carry out business?

NOT FREAKING HAPPY!!!
23 Mar 2011 10:58:15 PM: They told me on the phone 23 March it was due to upgrading and we would have no reception for up o 3 months. I checked the website and it says it is an unforeseen issue NOT an upgrade. I have been offered 3 months at %50 discount. 3 mobile is also affected.

I signed up on a business plan with 3 handsets which were to be used by sales reps travelling throughout Queensland. Over the past week I have been informed by both current business clients and new that they are leaving myself and team voicemails with return call. This would be because WE DON'T GET the voicemail and we don't get the missed call.

I dread to think how many clients I have lost due to the bad phone reception. After speaking with 5 vodaphone "customer relations staff" who wanted to know the location at which I was having the problem I advised them, how do I know the location if I don't know they're calling?! They gave me the usual story about how they are improving - by that stage I won't have a business so it wont matter!

It gets worse...

I have just now walked out of a VODAPHONE "service centre" due to my Iphone not working. I require a new handset but due to Vodaphone having no record that my Iphone was issued by them I couldn't receive it. After waiting an hour and now being told they can't help me(they couldn't even call to check), I have again sat on the phone, been transferred to 5 people to try and do their job for them by matching my plans with headsets that they issued.

I am astonished at the lack of customer service and will never sign another contract with them.

Been a Vodafone customer happily for years. Moved from Melbourne to Toowoomba, knowing that Vodafone website advertises full coverage in Toowoomba.

Coverage was very poor, had to go outside to talk etc. Even when I had coverage calls would go directly to voicemail. As an on-call doctor, this was clearly not good enough.

Went to the Vodafone store, which is in Toowoomba. They sold me a case for my handset, saying the coverage would then be better. It wasn't.

Rang to cancel my contract, they insisted I speak to technical support. After an infuriating twenty minutes, they said there was nothing more that they could do. Therefore, I signed up on a new plan with Telstra, and rang Vodafone to tell them. They stated that because I didn't contact them first (which I did, both at the store and by phone), my cancellation bill would be $1026. As a "gesture of goodwill" they have reduced this to $776. Pointing out that it is in fact Vodafone that have breached the contract by not providing the service that is advertised fell on deaf ears.

Will await reply from the ombudsman. If no luck there, how can I join the class action?

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
22 Mar 2011 10:35:28 AM: Well, very simply.

Your setting up of this website was to do 2 things, and I paraphrase of course.

1) highlight network problems that voda has run into
2) highlight poor customer service and no response
3) give others an opportunity to vent

All of this was fine and good actually. However, you said you were doing it with a mind to get voda to listen and the opportunity to improve.

Yet, your comments above in particular make the assumption that the future of voda is shocking and you congratulate others for leaving the company.

All of this implies you actuall would like to see VHA go down.

Quite contradictory to what you set out to do??
22 Mar 2011 02:30:54 PM: Thanks for the reply.

Wow....all of these assumptions (yours), implications (yours again) and following the assumptions, fabrication of adjectives (yours once more) I had never used in the reply to the OP.

I am no longer intrigued by your comments as the comments speak for themselves.

Have a great day.

I got posted to Middlemount (2.5 hours inland from Rockhampton) for work and found out there was no service, I rang to find out my options and they said that unless I had a friend/family member I could pass on the contract to (as if!) I would be liable for termination of contract fee. Blah! Blah! Blah! The service guy agreed that it was unreasonable for me to pay these charges as I was going to an area where Vodafone could not provide a service but would not help me. Finally managed to get them to down the payment from $450 to $250 (which is still ridiculous!) To make it worse I got a bill today from them for my Mobile Broadband- which apparently is still active.. Did no one think if I wanted to cancel my contract because there was no service that I wouldnt be able to get internet out here either! SO NOT IMPRESSED!

Well what a load of crap, I have had my phone replaced because apparently that was the issue, what a load of crap, agian. Every time I call them they have a different excuse, I have been unable to speak to anyone in Australia. Well I am getting even, I managed to get them to release me from any contract when they ported me over, so I am going to connect with Telstra. I also stood in the Vodafone store and told a number of people wanting to connect my problems, while I was waiting for my replacement phone, and the potential customers left saying they would look at Optus and Telstra.

Vodafone is terrible... I have been with vodafone ever since they first started in Australia, in fact I have never had any other provider.

I have noticed particularly in the last 6 months how crap Vodafone really is. The consistantly poor reception and very very frequent drop outs rates are insane. It's funny how no matter where you are e.g. outside, in the middle of the Brisbane CBD, still I am getting poor reception and drop outs.

SERIOUSLY VODAFONE SUCKS!!!

I am a lazy man, this only reason I have been vodafone so long is because I am to lazy to change, but I am definately going to now.

P.S. I HATE YOU VODAFONE.

Regards,
G.P.
21 Mar 2011 11:27:45 AM: Are you sure your phone is ok? I never have any reception problems in Brisbane CBD, ever - usually full bars.

Whether I actually get a data connection is another matter... I may well spend longer waiting for the bus timetable to load on Vodafone's piece of crap internet, than waiting for the actual bus.

Somehow (gee I wonder how after it's come out that Vodafone do not store sensitive client information to an adequate standard) the credit card which was linked to my Vodafail plan was accessed by a third party. This third party proceeded to unlock 3 vodafail handsets (why anyone would want to be on this network is beyond me), since alerting vodafail they have made no attempt to rectify this matter, regardless of the phone calls and investigations into the deduction which we have launched. Today I discovered that my phone has been bared, as I have not paid my previous bill. The reason this bill went unpaid was due to the fact that the credit card previously linked to the account was destroyed after the fraud by vodafail (or as we suspect a vodafail employee), further more I viewed payment of any bill as affirming a contract which under contract law I should have cause to repudiate. How on earth can they be allowed to operate in such a manner?!
15 Mar 2011 12:35:48 PM: This has to be the most shonky large size business in Australia and it being allowed to continue screwing innocent consumers around when it should be shut down. This company makes a mockery of the laws in this country.

Your question: How on earth can they be allowed to operate in such a manner?! Needs to be answered by the government.

I contacted Vodafone about a faulty handset.
I jumped through their hoops, and they decided that it was my iphone 3gs, and offered to replace it. I called about the replacement, and they refused, so I contacted the TIO.
Vodafone picked up the ball and followed through with a new Samsung Galaxy S.
Problem solved right? WRONG!
Fast forward 7 weeks, and I receive an email from someone within the customer satisfaction team. Releasing me from my contract, and giving me the new handset.
Great, right? Wrong. I have 2 phone numbers linked to my account. I don't WANT to cancel. I rang. They transferred me to another indian, who then released the second number. Then promptly hung up on me.
I rang back again. I don't want to leave. I'm happy. But can I change to the infinite plans on both numbers.
Yes. on a new 24 month contract.
I tell him I don't want phones, just to be transferred to the infinite.
No can do. He advised me he was sending me 2 new handsets (Nokia n97 mini's) and to just give them away if I didn't want them. I argued, he ignored me, processed 2 new contracts and hung up on me.
I'm shaking my head by this stage.
I ring back AGAIN, talk to someone else, who leaves a message for resolutions to call me.
2 days later, resolutions call. I explain everything. Even the person I spoke to is dumbfounded.
2 * phones arrive while on the phone to resolutions. I advise I will keep one for the secondary contract. BUT I don't want the Nokia, and will send it back, and choose another handset of my choosing on a different plan.
The resolutions person agrees.
I refuse delivery of one, set up the second, and move on.
Call today checking status of return. They check on aae.com.au and nothing else.
They can't find it. it says it was delivered to me. I'm screwed. Called Post office. No record of return. Just delivery. I signed for one.. not both??
At this point I'm fkn sick of Vodafones fuckups.
Highly incompetent. No communication between departments. And as much as resolutions attempted to help, I'm now stuck. I can't change plans. I can't get a handset I want, and one handset has completely disappeared off the face of the earth.

16279 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Incomprehensibly at 14 Mar 2011 09:17:41 AM
I'll be brief:
Almost all of the updated network sites are to be on the 850 bandwidth: http://blog.vodafone.com.au/blog/wp-content/uploads/Full-List-of-Site-Upgrades-and-Planned.pdf
Many phones sold by VF to customers, locking them into 24 month contracts don't do 3G/HSDPA on 850. (Incl: Brand new Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy, HTC Desire HD, and HTC Trophy.)
Check the specs yourselves: http://www.gsmarena.com/
Ergo, they are not even fixing their network. This is profoundly rediculous. I have no idea who is sitting around boardroom tables at VF making these calls. Thank-you Vodafail for providing the forum.
15 Mar 2011 01:25:56 PM: as telstra use the 850 band will this interfere with there cust
16 Mar 2011 10:49:39 AM: Those are new towers going in, you seemed to have skipped over the upgrading of existing towers, but I guess that would suit your agenda better wouldn't it. The problem with the current network is congestion, what handset is causing this congestion? The iPhone, which runs 850mhz, so by freeing up the other towers to handle all the other handset it's going to be a benefit.
16 Mar 2011 11:14:06 PM: And who is it by their sales pitch that advertises iPhones to work on their network?

OMG. Where do I start. Five months of huge bills as a result of having to constantly call people back due to - No Network Service, and the not so wonderful iPhone 4.

Just spent 2hours to Vodafone Retention about:
1. Wrongly Direct Debiting my credit card $00's without authority
2. Poor or No network service - causing constant re-dialling
3. Poor Handset (iPhone) causing no network connection

Their solution ... started as a $200 credit ... went to $300, then $400, then $500 ... plus a replacement handset (only if we sign for another 24 months.

What we were asking for was a $675.72 credit over the five months (we're on a $99 plan), and a replacement handset that works for the remainder of the contract.

They refused ... so here we go ... off to the TIO, to the Class Action, and I'm thing of lodging a Minor Civil Dispute for breach of contract ... so I can claim some of my costs too.

16264 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Like slamming my hand in a car door at 11 Mar 2011 02:40:14 PM
I've been a vodafone customer since 1997. I got my first mobile with them when I got my first job at Dominos. I've had services from other providers through various jobs - but I've been a pretty loyal customer.

A year ago, I got a pretty high bill. I called customer care, got through the infuriating process with Lara, negotiated a contract change and lower payment figure as incentive to change my contract and went away happy. I tried to leave a complaint on your website about Lara, but found that your complaints form would not accept complaints about Lara. Apparently so many of your customers were jack of that nonsense that you'd stuck your fingers in your ears and started singing LALALALA like it wasn't a problem.

A month later, I got a new invoice. My contract had changed, but the promised incentives hadn't been applied. I refused to pay your bill until you corrected the invoice to adhere to the new agreement. You left me waiting for a call back for four months. Then you disconnected my service, without calling me back. I called and yelled again, and after an hour on the phone you reconnected my service and left me waiting for a call back from a supervisor. Four months later, you disconnected my service again! I called back, yelled for an hour and eventually my service was reconnected but the issue still not resolved, was left pending a call back. At this point I was refusing to call you as long as my service worked - and hadn't paid a bill for 8 months. I was wondering how long you could possibly string this out for instead of just playing back the original call that you assured me was recorded by your systems....

Four months later, a full year since the original incorrect invoice - you disconnected my service again. I called you again as was our little tradition and after an hour of screaming, you tried to make me wait for a call back from a supervisor. After I screamed some more - you realized that the supervisor could just take the bloody call. And realizing that you had been a year without payment - you agreed to just suck it up, credit the amount I'd been disputing for a year and send me on the way if I paid the outstanding $12 month bill.

A year, to do EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR. More than 5 hours on the phone in total. Multiple periods of months at a time without a promised call back ever eventuating. For fuck sake.

How much have you really saved by moving your call center off shore? When compared to how much you've lost by infuriating your customers with staggeringly incompetent customer service.
15 Mar 2011 01:42:18 PM: i would suggest checking your credit history. You will need to contact the credit reporting agencies to obtain a copy of your credit reports.
