26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Constant call dropouts, ridiculous wait times (hours) in order to sort a problem they made in the first place. Without doubt the worst phone company i have EVER been with, and i have been with them all. If you are reading this and are considering vodafone, DO NOT EVER EVER EVER SIGN UP!!!!!!!!! WORST COMPANY EVER

Calls continually drop, one phone call that lasted 20 minutes or so, became 4 or 5 calls, constantly dropping out every couple of minutes... There will be times also when 3G just doesn't work, even though I'm in a coverage area...

Rubbish service in Perth, WA - with calls dropping out continuously, delays in voicemail messsages, not sending emails from my iphone until i'm within wifi range at home. This is after living in Sydney where I had no (that's zero) reception along Glebe Point Road as well as all the above. Can't wait to switch!

11697 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Worst Ever at 10 Jan 2011 11:37:56 AM
Got my new iphone and had to call to activate my micro-sim - It came with a purchase order, which I threw out. So I call Vodafone to activate it and they put me through to another line, after 45mins of waiting some guy who can barely speak english asks me for the purchase order number, which of course I don't have. I said can't you search by the SIM card number - the first guy said all I needed was the SIM card number. This guy says oh no you need the purchase order number - I will have to put you through to another department ad then you will have to come back to us - So I am once again put on hold. I started googling activating micro sim and found a dedicated phone number so I hung up and called that number & 2 minutes later it was activated - Thank you for your help Vodafone...not..
Oh..and I can't even make calls because if I even move 1cm away from a spot where I get some kind of signal the phone cuts out..What is the point!!!!!!!

For the person who wrote the following:

YOU ALL COMPLAIN!
VODAFONE IS CHEAPER THAN ANY OTHER AND THATS WHY IM WITH THEM.
IVE HAD PROBLEMS AND I HAD THE BEST OF.
IF YOU FOLLOW THE PROMPTS AND DO WHAT YOUR TOLD WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS IT WOULD ALL GET SORTED INSTEAD THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY IS YOU WANT THINGS FIXED STRAIGHT AWAY!!!

VODAFONE IS NOT OUT TO GET YOU
(AND THE GUY THAT MADE THIS SITE, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY)
GO TO TELSTRA AND PAY 3TIMES MORE JUST TO GET A BIT MORE SERVICE.

NO ONE SAYS HOW VODAFONE A SPENDING 500MILLION ON THERE COVERAGE AND THATS WHY THERE A SMALL PROBLEMS NOW ..

Are you serious??
Are you the Vodafone CEO??
Constant Dropouts,terrible recption,slow data download..
If i sign up for a 24 month contract i expect a service that is firstly as advertised, secondly as per the contract i signed..
I did not sign up for a 50 minute wait on the phone when i wish to query a bill,or do i need to call someone 2 or 3 times because of dropouts and recption issues.
AND NO ITS NOT MY PHONE that has the issue because every phone make and model does the same thing with Vodafone.....
If vodafone listened to their customers and worked to resolve there complaints all of us would not be in this position.
Regards,
EXTREMELY UNHAPPY
10 Jan 2011 11:14:43 AM: im with you on that one (the reply)
10 Jan 2011 11:28:35 AM: Yes im Serious and no im not.
So when you signed up you were promised, what?
Super fast data, no drop outs ever? best service ever? and speak to someone on straight away when you call?
all im saying is customers are never happy. nothing is ever good enough and all you do is complain.
Not just with vodafone but any big company, in retail, you all think your so hard done by.
Its stupid, go to telstra and then you will complain its so expensive, take it all away and you would cry,

THERE IS REASON SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN BUT YOU ALL ARE %2 THE REST SAY GOOD THINGS.
"i expect a service" you would be one type of person who makes a purchase in a retail store and stamps there feet if there is a line

Im not the CEO im just not dont expect people to be robots and i bet you never researched why there are problems with the reception before you wrote in?
10 Jan 2011 02:00:56 PM: You sound like one of their staff members on the phone though. "Im not the CEO im just not dont expect..."
In all seriousness the company must be accountable for this mess, it's not good enough and customers have a right to air their grievances.
10 Jan 2011 02:52:50 PM: You have no idea, I moved to telstra after being with vodafone for 10 years. Telstra is fairly competitive these days, not to mention there customer service has improved heaps. Since i moved last month, haven't had any issues. But keep hearing about the issues from my mates still with vodafone. Optus is cheap and you dont see the same issue with them do you?

Big Companies dont do anything unless there decent amount of media attention. Cheers to the guy that made the site.

11653 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 99% at 10 Jan 2011 09:07:53 AM
I joined Vodafone in December 2010 porting 12 phone numbers from 3G due to poor reception and continuous dropping out of calls. The Sales Rep that I spoke to assured me that the issue was due to the two services amalgamating and issues regarding the integration of services. I run an accommodation support service for people who have a disability and it is essential that we have reliable communications to ensure the welfare of our residents. Since joining Vodafone I had one telephone that did not work on delivery. We have constant call drop outs and my Nurse Advisor who missed several urgent calls relating to one of our residents who had to be admitted to hospital receive text messages four days after they had been sent.
My Service Coordinator has today told me that she was waiting for information regarding the medical condition of one of our residents yeasterday (Sunday) and after making a call to the house was told that the staff had been trying to get her during the afternoon to no avail. An enquiry to Vodafone confirmed that her number was out of service and not receiving a signal.
I have now left a mesage with the Sales Rep to call me as I will be seeking termination of our five week old contract.
10 Jan 2011 12:14:54 PM: Good luck on a simply appalling service by Vodafone. Suggest you look at the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, go directly to the TIO if required, don't delay on this one.......people's well being is at risk.

11593 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Total Failure at 10 Jan 2011 01:32:16 AM
My home sits smack in the middle of a major Perth suburb. Vodafone's coverage map shows my area is covered by 2G/3G service. I cannot make or receive calls from inside my home or front the front or back yards. Totally unacceptable coverage. I am one year into a 2 year service agreement. The reported security breach regarding customer details just adds insult to injury. Surely Vodafone are in breach of the Trade Practices Act? They certainly appear to have breached their own privacy policy. My legal advice is that I can unilaterally cancel my contract because they are in breach of same. Has anyone else pursued this line of attack?

First off, I signed up for a HTC legend on a $29 cap, and it was supposed to come with monthly 1GB free internet but this didn't happen. I was only getting 50mb a month, which led to my bills being way more than it should be. This was never resolved.

Secondly, upon purchasing and signing up I tried to log onto the vodafone website to manage my account online. It didn't work, and it seemed as if my number had already been registered. This took about a week to resolve after visits to vodafone stores and phone calls and online help.

Thirdly, I keep getting messages and calls looking for people who I presume; used to have this number.

Fourthly, just recently, reception has been nothing but fail. It started a couple of weeks ago where I had no reception for a couple of hours on a saturday. Now my messages struggle to get sent, people cannot seem to call me even when my reception bar is almost full, etc etc.

Lastly, I hear my information is very readily available to others due to Vodafone's poor security.

I feel that we deserve at least some sort of compensation, or termination of my plan.

I just want to say that life is too short to be complaining bout the little things that is not as important.

GET OVER IT. It was just ONE day that the network outage was down. Not even one day but a few hours, and everyone's life just turned upside down. Well, I've got news for you - Such is Life.

There are many poor people in the world, people dying all over the world, floods happening all over & so many natural causes. Why don't people invest their time in that & help the disadvantage people of the world.

Just have a think about that.

Peace be with you all.
9 Jan 2011 11:10:04 PM: Why doesn't Vodafone allow us to help phone up the help lines to donate... see the problem here mate. You are a FAIL.
9 Jan 2011 11:21:52 PM: HUH, if you wanted to donate, you can do so. This does not stop you at all. Stop making excuses for yourself. YOU simply just don't want to donate or help other people in need. YOU ARE A FAIL!!
10 Jan 2011 12:25:27 AM: Obiously you have not had important messages from family suffering delivered to you a WEEK later not poor coverage from your home...buddy!
10 Jan 2011 01:39:01 AM: Vodafone is clearly in breach of the Trade Practices Act and should be sanctioned for it. They entered into service agreements with customers after representing to customers that they provided service coverage in customer areas of interest. Clearly this has not been the case for many customers. Vodafone thus behaved in a manner that was/is misleading and deceptive, or likely to be misleading and/or deceive, and thus has breached the Trade Practices Act. Customers may thus cancel their contracts unilaterally because the contract was entered into under false pretenses under the part of Vodafone.
10 Jan 2011 10:09:43 AM: what.. ur a idiot. it wasnt ONE DAY read the comments before u go on ur rant, this is months/years of shit. maybe i could of donated the $250 vodafone overcharged me and refused to refund?
10 Jan 2011 10:52:54 AM: I agree. Since joining Vodafone in December 2010 I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The service, coverage, etc has been excellent and I have had no problems with delivery of txt msgs, call dropouts, or download speeds. Billing was correct and my iphone is awesome. I realise there seem to be a number of people having problems but if there are all these issues with Vodafone's network etc, why are some having issues and others are not? Surely it should be the same for everybody!
10 Jan 2011 12:10:36 PM: your probably in the 1% who arent in a black hole and get reception

NOT ACCEPTABLE! SIMPLE COMMON SENSE ?!? 11546 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is more failing than I originally thought at 9 Jan 2011 08:09:46 PM
In addition to my last post, having read some of other people's problems, just reminded me that I also have tried to send picture and text messages that don't reach people, I get put on hold until I can't stand it anymore and hang up, and my dropouts have been going on for as long as I can remember. I just thought it was common in many telcos! I also have had my voicemail divert straight to msg bank when I have my phone on all the time and live close to the city. I was unable to retrieve voicemail whilst overseas, but could sent text messages. NO, I am not trying to milk the system and weasle out of a contract, in fact my 12 month contract is nearly finished so won't return to VF.

Reception dropping out, calls dropping out, no reception, calls not connecting, SMS & MMS delayed massively - 3 DAYS! Seriously Vodafone what is the problem? I have a new credit card number, so what did I do - register it with VF to direct debit my Internet Bill and to have it for my prepaid account, just like the old card. Now, I get a nasty bill saying that I haven't paid my Internet for two months! Enough is enough. I'm getting out of Vodafone.

If I can connect it is for a maximum of an hour before I get disconnected, it is slow and excruciatingly painful. How can it be so useless? $49 a month, if I wanted to use my 8GB I couldnt as I would never be able to get connected for long enough! Thank you vodafone, you do your job well.

I have internet and phone plans with Vodaphone which constantly drops out. I was recently hounded for $312 which I had paid via their website 2-3 weeks prior to the hounding commencing. It makes me wonder how much I have been ripped off by Vodafone by paying my bill via the website (I am yet to investigate the past 4-5 months).

The icing on the cake is the recent security breaches that I have started seeking other providers, however believe that we will be slugged with full exit fees even though Vodafone's service is no longer of standard.

I have had the same Service problems as Most- Delayed text send and recieve, dropped called ,etc. i decided to complain via email. The Alarm Flags in my head were raised when on the Vodafone Site i was required to enter my PIN NUMBER on a Non Secured Site (ie: the Secure Icon Was Missing from Vodafone Page). I hesitated about this but i guess becauase of anger at poor service i continued.
Now i read of a MASS distribution of Vodafone Client Details on the internet. NOW I AM VERY CONCERNED. Be Careful Dealing with Vodafone. YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION IS NOT SAFE.

Today my wife and I spent a combined 3hrs on hold trying to get through to the cancelations team to have our contracts canceled at no charge, but also to keep our handsets that have been almost paid for. However I never got to speak to anyone in that area and got to listen to dial tone for hours. And then to finally get put through to the cancelations department once they had closed. Great service guys and even a better way to keep ur annoyed customers annoyed and even more frustrated.

11253 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty fail worthy at 8 Jan 2011 10:45:42 PM
Msg fail...again...due to no network coverage. This of course just triggered my memory of seeing this site being talked about on TV and thinking finally someone has said something about how bad it really is and thought i would share my frustrations with the network. Yet again i have gone to sms and there is no coverage in, outside or around my house which is based in Perth. This happens most of the time no matter where i am and is really frustrating. I seem to also receive msg's a lot later than when people have sent them to me & also have a lot of network errors when i try to call people and it takes two or three times to actually get a dial tone. I have only just learned of the '30 minute wait' when calling Vodafone now as if it wasn't bad enough before that. All i wanted was a new password because their temporary one they supplied me failed to work..and this is only so i can get on their site as I really dislike the new set up for sending out bills via email, but needless to say cannot download my new bill until i can get onto the site for some reason. I sympathize though for the people who really needed their phones in that massive dropout they had recently, Vodafone need to get their act together before they lose all their customers if they haven't already lost enough. :/

After reading some stories on this site, my problems with Vodafone are all too familiar with mainstream complaints. Call dropouts after a few seconds, meaning another call cost charge/connection fee a few times in one conversation; hardly any reception where I live (Bunbury area, south of Perth); trouble sending smsand pxt as most times pxt not even send!!; on hold for extremely long periods of time and when I finally reach customer support are then re-routed to same number to dial or even back to original person, have trouble understanding non-english support teams!!; no satisfaction when trying to quiz my account and they cover up inadequate esponse with 'fake' niceness; cut off my service without prior warning and generally...a great desire to cancel contract ASAP!!
Not happy.

11164 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Wont renew my contract at 7 Jan 2011 10:01:22 PM
I was already on a prepay service with Vodafone before i signed up to a contract. When i went to sign up for a 24 months contract, i had a bit of credit left on my prepay service already and i was advised by the sales rep that although he is signing me up on that day, i will be given a full month to use my existing prepaid credits, and he agreed not to date the contract. I also have a copy of the contract and it is not dated. Guess what? As soon as i left the store, he dated the contract and my first bill sent included the first month even though i had prepaid credits on my phone. I went back to the store, phone customer service but to no avail. I was told i am being unrealistic! Anyway i am glad vodafail is set up so customers including large corporations can make up their mind whether they want to associate themselves with such an arrogant company. I wont go any further about recent network issues i have been having in Nov & Dec...i have read too many on this website already.

Thank you VODAFAIL, good idea...

11144 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ****ASHES OVER, SPEED GOOD**** at 7 Jan 2011 07:22:51 PM
THE ASHES FINALLY OVER THE NETWORK SPEED SEEMS TO MAGICALLY BE GOOD.
STRANGE HOW THIS ALL STARTED ABOUT THE START OF THE ASHES.
NOT SEEN TO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CRICKET APP FROM VODAFONE FAILING.
AT 7 MILLION PLUS AT $2 DAY, SEEMS LIKE THE COMPANY DEDICATED ALL THE BANDWITH TO PROVIDE ASHES COVERAGE AND JUST DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE NETWORK SLOW DOWN TO THE OTHER BROADBAND/ 3G CUSTOMERS.
I THINK THIS WHOLE NETWORK UPGRADE WAS A SNOW JOB FOR THE REAL REASON THAT THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN THE BIG PROFIT FROM THE ASHES AND DID NOT THINK HOW THE BANDWITH WOULD OVERLOAD THE NETWORK. PRETTY BASIC IT TO STUFF UP.
VODAFONE SHOULD CREDIT ALL 3G / BROADBAND CUSTOMERS AT LEAST 10GB OF BANDWITH USE FOR THEIR LACK OF SUPPORT FOR THE OTHER CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO VIEW THE ASHES SERIES ON THERI MOBILE DEVICE.!!!!
7 Jan 2011 07:40:03 PM: Hmmmm, that sounds like a cool theory.
I wish some VF employees would do a Wikileak tell all about the failings of the VF network.
8 Jan 2011 04:40:55 AM: One of their ex engineers (left some months ago) told me that the company's policy is to be hopelessly light on engineers and hopelessly heavy on sales staff. At the low prices Vodafail charges their customers for its deals, they cannot hope to make the money to employ more engineers. Meanwhile Vodafail goes on signing up more and more customers. So the whole problem is a vicious circle.

Yes, let's have some Wikileaks! Do their engineers see any light at the end of the tunnel? To hell with the opinions of their PR and sales staff?

Every time I went to pay my bill using vodafone's website, the site was down, or unusably slow, or not allowing me to login. I didn't realise how long this had continued -- they cut my service and it took 5 phone calls, each of at least 30 minutes, to restore. If you don't want to take my money, then punish me for it, I'll take my hard-earned dollars elsewhere.
8 Jan 2011 11:19:37 AM: Bet you wish you hadn't got reconnected!

7 Jan 2011 06:18:52 PM: (This, and many other issues, mean I'll be moving away from vodafone ASAP)
7 Jan 2011 06:28:00 PM: (these were high-density, populated centres also - Busselton, Dunsborough, etc. with full signal strength. Forget between towns, no coverage.)
18 Jan 2011 07:39:29 PM: those towns are not 3G coverage areas, therefore you wont get internet reception. you should have checked first.

Frequently I try to contact my partner, who is also (unfortunately) with Vodafone, and it goes straight to his message bank. This is an ongoing issue which 'they' said they were fixing. My partners phone number was 'given away' to another user and he was unable to use his phone for days. After many visits into the Kalgoorlie store (where they had to ring India for help anyway) he finally got his number back. No apology, compensation. Gosh we feel like we have a substandard service on every level.

11074 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ridiculous at 7 Jan 2011 11:58:13 AM
I have 3 contracts with vodafone, none of which work correctly. I have spent over two weeks trying to get in contact with them. I asked for a call back last week which I was told would be within 48 hours. I received a call back a week and half later. She was unable to help, told me I needed to take all 3 handsets in to a Vodafone Store to be sent to their service centre to be checked. Then if they came back with no issues I would then need to get the simcards checked which would take a further 10 days to check. When I told her I thought it was ridiculous to go through that with 3 different handsets all brand new and 2 exclusive to Vodafone I asked to speak to the technical dept. She was unable to put me through due to the high number of calls (surprise surprise) I then received a call back the next day. He had no idea about the phone I had or the operating system. He was unable to help and the solution offered was to put my simcard in another handset. Even though the problem was happening in 3 different phones. He also tried to tell me that Vodafone was no long having network issues and they had all been sorted, nevermind the fact that I was on the phone to him unable to receive mms or data. I am now just be waiting for the telecommunications ombudsmen to contact me.

I have been having issues for ages with Vodafone, but it has only been the last week or so that i've realised how bad it is.
Sometimes it can take up to 2/3 days to receive text messages ive been sent.
Just this morning (7th) i received 3 messages that were sent to me on the 3rd, 4th and 5th...that is up to 4 days!!
That is totally unacceptable.
And not to mention my mobile internet...the coverage is shit...takes ages for the pages to load.

TO START..
I can't even speak to an australian customer rep! so i have to spend a painful 20 minutes trying to disypher what the rep has just said..

Then I went on a holiday for over a week in a 'vodafone coverage area' with NO reception! So i had missed voicemails (as nobody could contact me)from another job of mine asking to work!

I recieved christmas messages and pictures a WEEK late.

Today 06/01/2011 i tried calling vodafone 3 times and was left on hold with no assistants for over 25 minutes when they asked me to call them regarding a new plan and phone! So i called the 1-5 number at 4.30 and in an automated message from Lara they ask if they can call me back in 10 minutes. My phone is yet to ring..it is now 9.29PM

I work in Cannington... Cannington is a "service" area right now, although it does not state that on their website. I'm self employed and loosing business because my clients cannot get through to me! I phoned Vodafone.. I asked the call centre man where he was (if he was in Aus) He said he was based in Mumbai, India. How am I supposed to explain to him that my phone does not work in Cannington????
7 Jan 2011 09:23:40 AM: I live in Cannington, do they really consider this a service area? If so that is a joke. Luckily I do not have a business that can be affected by Vodafone.
9 Jan 2011 03:54:20 PM: Also live in Cannington, have to get in my car and travel to text and call pple!! Vodafone says they have full coverage in my area!?!? What a joke!
11 Jan 2011 01:56:09 PM: Cannington is a major issue. apparenty they are working on the network and are doing upgrade work. The work started on 4th jan and is supposed to end on 4th feb. This information I got when I called Voda to complaint. Best part was that initially the rep told me I will have to leave with the problem till the maintaince work is being carried out. Finally they offered me $100 compo that is after numerous phone calls(which I hang up after being put on hold for hours) and email that i still have not received a reply. Worst customer service

same problems as everyone else. but thought id shed some light on what they are doing for me to help everyone else.

on a 120+10 insurance bb plan. i enquired costs to leave vodafone before contract end citing not fulfilling contracts terms blah blah. my contract is up in 3 months. my last months bill for 600 for going over cap *oops*. they changed me to the unlimited $99 plan and reduced that bill to $99. then they are giving my next 3 months completely free.

dont get me wrong. i'll be leaving vodafone after that time. but you cant sneeze at over $800 free.

so maybe everyone can call up and see how they go
6 Jan 2011 06:01:20 PM: forgot to mention enjoy the waiting times. to get this resolution it took 2 hours and 3 people to talk to.

I have a 2 year plan with Vodafone the overall reception is very poor especially in my own home. Both my partner and me have contacted them and their only responds is that we must be in a black hole and there's nothing they can do. I am a freelancer and have lost jobs because they phone didn't ring and went straight to my voice mail. Most of the time I only receive my voice mail message the next day by that time I have lost the job opportunity.

So YES, I'm losing jobs because of Vodafone bad reception and I can't wait till my contract has finished so I can move to another provider.

Complete network outage in December for nearly 2 days but the on-line outages were showing no problem. Most annoying currently is delay of several hours in voicemail. I'm in a mess as the RESULT of Vodafone's incapability to provide service. I am a 3 customer and an ex-3 employee (of 18 months).

When we started selling Vodafone in our 3 stores, we were told to push the Vodafone brand as much as possible. All of the 3 customer service staff have moved to the Vodafone call centers to cope with the increased call volume. Now any time one calls 3, you will find yourself on hold for 30 minutes minimum - regardless of the time of day (it used to be better to call in the morning).

ON TOP of this, I recently hollidayed south of Perth over the Christmas period where I used to receive reasonable coverage. Now however, as 3 are gradually switching off obsolete towers, I receive NO coverage.

I know how bad it is, and I know that it's going to get worse. Especially for 3 customers.

It's pretty shitty to be 3

We moved from 3 who were pretty useless to Vodafone prior to them becoming the same company. I have been plagued constantly with the same issues.. minimal reception, only 1 bar where we live which is only 8kms from the Perth CBD. Calls go straight to voicemail even when I do have reception, text messages taking up to 24 hours to arrive or send, MMS can take days at a time, voicemail arriving hours, days and occasionally weeks after they have been left. I run my own business and I can't rely on Vodafone to provide the service they have been contracted to provide.

I lodged a complaint with the TIO and ACCC, in the meantime I have moved 4 sims (2 phones, ipad and a USB internet) from Vodafone to Telstra. I will fight any charges they try and send my way with tooth and nail and will take it through the courts if necessary. I have also signed up for the class action.

10756 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY USELESS at 5 Jan 2011 08:09:17 PM
Well where do I start!!!!! I had been happily using 3 mobile broadband for almost 2 years and then I got an email from Vodafone to say "hey change to us at no cost on a month by month plan with a free wifi modem and get extra download for no extra cost" well this was the lure for me as I just purchased my daughter a laptop for Christmas, so I signed on the dotted line on 17th December - FIRST MISTAKE! After receiving all the goodies in the mail on 20th December I quickly rang them and asked them to activate the sim to get me off and running. Well 23 phone calls later and about as many different stories I am still not connected. I reported them to the TIO and rang the sales people (and spoke to somebody in Australia!!!) and begged them to help me which I admit they did and promised - once again it will be resolved in 24 hours crap...well then I thought why am I doing this? Rang them back (was on hold 30 minutes) then got cut off!!!!!!! The rang back again was on hold 40 minutes and then the phone at the other end rang for 3 minutes before somebody picked up. Told her to cancel my account and DO NOT DARE SEND ME A BILL. Went to my local 3 shop signed up again and was connected in 30 minutes!!!
5 Jan 2011 08:15:29 PM: A word of advise, be careful, Vodafone may pursue you for termination fees, keep a note of all of your conversations, date, time, who you spoke to, their id number, and the outcome of the conversation. You may also have to take the matter to the TIO details may be found on the How To Complain tab. Good luck !!!!

I signed a 2-year contract at about 10.30 in the morning, was shown a coverage map which included my home and business in Perth. When I got back to my home at 3.00pm that same day, I found to my horror no signal at my house. I had a signal at the end of my driveway, great. I immediately contacted Vodaphone so I could return the phone and get a refund, to no avail. Next stop the TIO. A couple of frustrating weeks later they said Vodaphone were within their rights and I had to pay out compensation to Vodaphone for 2 years of the contract. This for a useless piece of junk that I had bought 5 hours earlier. Not fit for the purpose??? The TIO is a waste of space and taxpayers money. Expect no help from them at all. Ever.
They are an apologist for the Telecommunications Industry, set up just to calm fears that were expressed when the government excluded them from the provisions of the Trade Practices Act.
I was stuck with a mobile for two years having to go to the end of the driveway in all weathers just to receive and make calls.

10698 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is crap at 5 Jan 2011 04:19:53 PM
I have two main issues with Vodafone:

The first is that SMS messages sent by me or sent to me are not delivered in a timely manner - sometimes they arrive up to 24 hours later. This is very bad for me as I am on call for my work and I need a reliable SMS service.

Secondly, I regularly call a friend in Melbourne. On average I get about 4 to 5 call drops every time I call her. Sometimes it's so ridiculous; just one call drop after another I just give up and call her later. It is VERY frustrating.

Luckily I don't have to pay for calls to 3 users because if I had to pay for every new connection I would be extremely pissed off. Also it would be TERRIBLE if you relied on your mobile for Business.

I hope Vodafone will do something about SMS delivery and call drops. It will probably take ages to upgrade the network though. Meanwhile I'm locked into a plan. BOO!

oh last easter is the beginning of this tale.
vodafone mobile broadband from my nanna was a godsend as we didnt have ADSL at the time... so mobile internet came into my life, and i thought it was the bees knees... until i got home. i live 700 kilometes from the nearest city and vodafone have recently put 3g broadband in my town so i was thinking i had hit a jackpot, then the speed issue came.
Dial-up speeds or slower.... rarely got the quoted 1.5mbps speed and now.... it has gotten so slow, i now regret topping up my account. i should have gotten a telstra mobile broadband stick instead of buying a $49 4GB data allowance.....

sorry vodafone, when i get paid next, you are getting your hardware sent to your main office, EXPRESS POST!

I have a bill with Vodafone, which they DO recieve payments for but I get up to 60 phone calls a day from some guy who wont be named who works for Vodafone hounding me for payment. I work as hard as I can for the little amount of money I get, I have to support my parents with what I can, so whatever payment Vodafone gets they should be happy I'm at least making an effort to pay, BUT NO!!! My phone rings DAY and NIGHT constantly the same person, who I might add doesn't have the most plesant manners in the world, I've done the right thing by you Vodafone now DO the RIGHT thing by the people who put that FAT CASH in yours pockets...

I get poor reception everywhere, I live 15 mins out of Perth CBD and get little to NO reception in my home. It is so frustrating trying to talk to someone and having to try and call them back 15 times

Luckily I have now left Vodafone. However I had no reception at my home address and Vodafone would not recognise this let alone offer a solution.

Am glad I left.

10563 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Slow Data at 5 Jan 2011 11:36:41 AM
I recently went from Vodafone BIB to 2GB Data plan. The plan comes with 1.3GB local data and 750MB GPRS. I switched over in November 2010 and have noticed that 95% of my data usage is from GPRS with only a few MB for my local data. I would assume that my local area would be the state I am staying in which is CBD/Metro WA. Each time I use Voda's data network, my phone loads everything very very slowly. In frustration I often switch to my local wireless connection as this is much much faster. What is the point of having a data plan when you can't use it.

I have just lodged an email complain and will see how long that takes to get resolved. I don't want to stay on the line for 2 hours as the call back service is often not available when there are too many callers calling in to make complaints. Has anyone been successful in getting out of their Vodafone contracts without panalty? I was happy with Voda when I had my Blackberry but since going over to Android/Iphone, I think the service has dropped dramatically.

10562 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Failed Miserably at 5 Jan 2011 11:36:28 AM
I live 5 kms from Perth CBD in an established suburb. The vodaphone service is very flaky, fluctuating and unreliable. The signal strength bars on my phone vary from zero (no service) to 2. Call dropouts, incoming calls going straight to voicemail, poor data-rates are very common. I complained to vodaphone, and documented 3 instances with date, time, screenshots as required in their complaint process. They raised a network fault, and informed me that a technician visited my home and made 2 calls of 5 minute duration successfully closed the issue. They cannot guarantee reception indoors as something in the structure would be interfering with the signal. My house is a standard brick and tile residence and when I put a Telstra sim in my phone borrowed from my friend I get 5 signal strength bars.

10537 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is No reception in the Perth CBD at 5 Jan 2011 11:10:20 AM
I sit in my office in the Perth CBD and people who attempt to phone me say it goes straight to voice mail, even though the phone has reception bars! Very frustrating when it is a work related call and I will only see that they have called if they leave a voice message that may come through in an hours time. The reception never used to be this bad, sometimes I need to turn the phone on and off before text messages can be sent or received, very frustrated and time to look at a new provider I think.

10517 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Continual at 5 Jan 2011 10:34:18 AM
Regularly get missed call messages and SMS messages up to 24 hours late. Also suspect that many don't get through at all.
Extremely frustrated by dozens of automated calls from Vodafone that hangs up as soon as I answer.
All pales to insignificance compared to the disaster that is Vodafone mobile broadband.

10516 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Continually at 5 Jan 2011 10:27:54 AM
Some days mobile broadband is almost unusable. Regularly logs me off mid session, sometimes within seconds of logging on. Only fix offered by the nohelp line (average waiting time 40 minutes) is to uninstall, re-install and download updated software. So far I have had to do this somewhere between 30 and 50 times in 12 months. Can't wait to get away from this sham of a company. In spite of claims, no network coverage for phone or broadband east of Northam or west of Kalgoorlie (WA).

Ive been with vodafone for just over 4 years, and was happy with there service until about 4 months ago! now my phone will lose signal and to get it back i have to turn my phone off and on , even then i may have to repeat this to get signal back. I have plenty of friends that say they dont get my messages or they will be delayed for hours. I will have atleast a couple of calls a day that will drop out, then means i have to make another phone call! Trying to check my Facebook on my IPhone is near on impossible at the best of times. also the couple of calls i have made to there customer lines over the past 12 months, i have had very rude customer service staff that are not very willing to help with anything! Vodafone you have failed us all!

Hey Vodafone,

You know the amount of advertising your pumping into the cricket? Well bugger that and use that money to fix your f@!#%$ network!

Want Poor Service? Want Bad Mobile Broadband? Want Horrible Customer Support? Want a Terrible Experience over-all?

Switch to Vodafone!

You got it! (Insert that music from the advertisement)

10455 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is simply fuct at 5 Jan 2011 02:17:47 AM
Being charged for sms even though still had around 25 free sms remaining on my pre-paid account. Also having no signals for entire days is just not good enough for me! Also my Vodafone to Vodafone minutes are being chewed up alot faster than usual aswell even though my usage has been no greater. I'm guessing they are under handedly recouping their losses from ppl choosing other providers. I'm going to another provider and will pay to keep existing number so it wont be to much stuffing around. Thanks VodaFungoolas!

i try to recharge and have to call 11 times because the connection fails,
i try to send a message which in many cases has failed on several occassions or continues to defer sending.

Am at the airport and have just noticed how much advertising vodafone has done here. Every trolley and sign have the vodafone name and logo on it and the thought occurred to me, if vodafone spent just half of what they do on advertising on fixing the problems with the sad sad network life would be so much better. As this thought occurred to me I reached for my dads relates iPhone to share it on vodafail as I have no service in the airport.
5 Jan 2011 12:28:53 AM: they probably thinks its better to get new customers than keep their old ones.
5 Jan 2011 01:35:42 AM: Relates = telstra. Damn iPhone spelling.

10440 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is very fail at 4 Jan 2011 09:35:21 PM
i cannot use 3G on my iphone. when i do, i find the battery dies very quick as it is constantly swapping between 3g and edge trying to get a signal. Also, if i am on and talking on phone, often if iphone checks for email, the call will drop. If i leave it on no 3G, all is good. Very painful to switch to 3G, wait for signal to drop, then come back in again to view the contents of an email then repeat process so i don't end up dropping calls.
I went with Voda because the sales person said it was less subscribed than my old Optus and i would get faster 3G. I thought it was just me until i heard of this on the news.
And New Years ??? Anyone in Perth try to send their mates a Hew Year text a 9PM ??? Mine finally sent about 9:20pm .....
My 2cents
5 Jan 2011 02:43:11 AM: With all respect I think all telco's would find their networks heavily congested on new years eve/morning.

Tried to contact support regarding Recharge web site not working. Agreed to an (at least) 30mins callback. 1.5 hours later that sent me an automated callback then claimed to be putting me through to an assistant. The phone rang out. Spoke to an assistant at Floreat All Phones shop 10 mins later - he'd been on hold for 144 minutes!

Ive currently been on hold for 3 hours and 50 minutes. On top of this i have a stupid problem with my internet. done sim swaps, done PHONE swaps. all backend settings are active.

nobody can figure it out; so it makes perfect sense that i should just continue to pay for nothing every month for another 23 months
4 Jan 2011 06:16:56 PM: How else do you expect them to make money? They dont have aything tangeable to offer
