Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Continual drop outs, poor internet connection (freezing up), lack of service coverage by phone - I cannot wait to switch providers when I get home. I dont care what it costs to change - I want out of Vodafone. It sucks when my friends can all get messages and make calls but I don't have service. Screw this and screw voda-crap.

I live in Weston Creek, I have no service in most of my house, I was assured this would be looked into only to be told "not our problem, it must be your phone". I did advise when i borrow another phone it has the same problem, I was told the same thing.

I am with 3 Phone and the reception is disgraceful,I was considering asking to be transferred to the Voda phone network which according to their outlet at Strathpine Qld can be done for customers experiencing drop outs or poor reception.
No way will I consider going to Voda Phone now !!
I shall be moving across to Telstra, at least I will be able to make a call from home.

Long on advertising, long on promotion pathetic on running a real business (ie. doing the hard yards to deliver on promises) The local senior executives are destroying a once capable organisation. They have to go.. Fund managers take note - this company is now utterly dysfunctional. Buy and hold their shares at your peril.

Using a Vodafone 3G broadband in Harrison ACT with USB plug-in the data rarely connects, keeps dropping and when it does connect I would swear that a bit of string and two cans would provided a better data rate. The bit that bugs me is that the VF tower is 1km closer than the Telstra tower but my Telstra mobile gets excellent coverage (crap data allowance though). VF is closer and should be able to provide a more consistant coverage.

We were on vodafone a few years back. The coverage was just so bad; had to stand on one small spot in the house or go to a few spots outside to get some reception. We are 17km out of town so we thought that could be the reason. We then decided to change service provider and have full coverage at any place in the house. Vodafone contacted us by phone a few times a couple of months ago inviting us in very creamy terms, to use them again. After our previous experience with them, I think we will never go back - no, thank you!

Signed up with TransACT who use the vodafail network on their mobile broadband $29 a month cap. Guess what? Sod-all reception despite the fact I lived two blocks away from TransACT head office. TransACT said that it was a dodgy modem, so they replaced it. Three times. When work took me to the Northern Territory, I asked if I could get coverage in Darwin, to which I was informed that Vodafone covered the whole NT.
I moved into my apartment at the CBD and guess what? No reception. Popped into Vodafail in the mall who laughed at me when I asked why I wasn't getting reception. Response? "Unless you live in Berrimah you won't get reception."
Quick call to TransACT and then to the TIO, and had a written apology and refund within a week. Never using them again.

Interesting disparity in the number of complaints from different states. Even after accounting for the population of each State, it's clear that the problems are mostly affecting the south-east. For example:
- ACT has over 1/3rd of the complaints as VIC, with only 1/15th of VIC's population). Even more telling, it has four times as many complaints as WA, with around 1/8th of WA's population.
- QLD has half the complaints that VIC does, despite having a similar population.
- Barely any complaints from WA and SA, which both have populations in the millions.
So I think we can say that NSW and the ACT are by far the most affected, with VIC moderately affected, and the rest of the States nowhere near as bad.

I have two services with this abismal company, one is a wirless broad band, that now has been replaced by another provder as i can only get decent recption on my roof or in wollongong. I also have an iphone with them and again no service at home, with the exception of my roof. Luckily i have a work mobile on telstra. I have spoken to vodafone and they advised that i should realise that the service is subject to avaliability. Which is interesting because i go to tassie reguarly to visit family and asked specifically will i get full coverage. To which they replied yes. this is because we have the dishes to run the same capacity as telstra. WHAT A CROCK, i had to use my work mobile on leave and had to pay for it.
27 Dec 2010 12:00:36 PM: oh and did i mention that when i signed up for my wirless internet that i was promised 6GB 2GB bonus but for 3 months i was told i had it but then they charged me over limit fees when i used 7 GB. Called and took them another months to fix it and then they decided that they would refund me everything. Luckily i was on month to month for wirless and have now pulled the pin but they still charged me for the last month even though i cancelled on the 10th when my billing starts on the 14th. Oh thats my fault so im still having to pay. TIO got the complaint. also got the complaint about the fact im sitting at home with a telstra mobile getting full service and voda with 1 bar.

My phone switched itself off every time I entered my flat in McDonald Street, Potts Point, because of zero reception. Bought a new battery for the phone (at the Vodophone store!) because they told me that might help. Then I learned that Vodophone reception was zero in the entire street, not just indoors but also outdoors. Some improvements over the last weeks, I am able to make the occasional call, but call quality still not close to acceptable.

Attempting to upgrade contract, 6 weeks waiting for phones so far, three and a half hours waiting for customer service, two persons spoken to, one did nothing, the second told me the particular phone was obsolete, then that it had not been released then accused me of giving him incorrect information. The service drops calls and diverts incoming calls to message bank without ringing. The messages sometimes take hours to come through. I have these numbers for business hence reluctance to attempt a move, but am losing business through their non-service. Absolute B.S!

- Marginal (1 bar) 3G reception across huge swathes of inner north Canberra. Even drops back to GPRS quite often in these areas (Northborne Ave corridor, particularly between Haig Park and Macarthur Ave). I mean cmon, this is barely 2 km out of the CBD! 2G has strong 5 bars everywhere but VF's 3G capacity in this area is a joke.
- Even if there is strong reception, data speeds are still shocking. Was sitting in the middle of Canberra City the other day with 5 bars 3G but was unable to refresh Twitter or even load the Google homepage. These activities require a few kB at most, so this is indicative of some ~major~ network congestion.
- VF Mobile Internet APN (vfinternet.au) is not too bad, but their default 'phone' APN (live.vodafone) is s-l-o-w. Makes smartphone users second class citizens behind broadband dongle users. Not fair.

We (try to) use vodafone as our mobile service provider though Transact as part of our total utilities package. First problem - I used 'Transact', 'vodafone' and 'service' in the same sentence. We can't even get mobile coverage in the middle of town! We are not on a contract so the easiest thing for us to do switch, much as it galls me to say this, to Telstra. If enough other Transact customers also withdraw from vodafone, maybe Transact will wake up and join the fight. Right now Transact is just happy to take our money and blame vodafone for the problems.

Try to downgrade your contract. I previously lived away hence needed my cap upgraded to the $99 and when I moved back to my family I requested to drop to the $29 cap. This would cost me $760 odd, turns out you have to cancel current contract then start another 24month cap. This was all explained to me apparently when I signed up and written in the fine print somewhere..... as argued to me by the Indian call centre. I did cancel my contract, payed the charges however I just changed carriers instead of starting a new 24month term.
Reception inside buildings in Wagga Wagga was non-existant unless you are in the town centre, other regional towns just as bad and the outdoor reception and call quality is far below par.
Vodafone will never see my business again.

Poor reception all the time - in the parliamentary triangle, the airport precinct and Kingston generally.
Terrible customer service, after waiting in phone queue I was hung up upon right after they answered the phone. Twice.
the same device on the telstra network - both with full bar reception gives 400kbps down on Vodafail and 8000kbps for data downloads. But I don't even get 3g in my own house... (hebel brick, top floor of apartment). What's the point of having 2Gb data allowance if you can't even download that much if you try.

Well I heard from a very trusted source Vodafone is replacing the whole ailing Nokia (NSN) 2G/3G network with a Chinese vendor who was half the price of the NSN bid. God help Vodafone...
Everyone is focussed on Vodafone but friends of mine had similar network failures on Optus who also have the same Nokia/NSN network...
The ACA should bring back the % of dropped and failed 2G call benchmarks all the carriers had to submit to the ACA to be published to the public. Since the three carriers built their 3G networks the ACA does not force the carriers to publish their % of dropped and failed 3G 'voice' AND 'data' calls?? ACA it is your job to look after the public objectively!!

My brother and I cannot get calls or texts while in buildings, yet our phone's reception bars say we have reception. When you try to call us, it tells you that our "vodafone mobile has been switched off." Lies! I do not like Vodafone lying on my behalf.
Was on the highway yesterday and accidentally dialled someone. Using the iPhone, when you get messages you must click to either "view" or "close" the dialog box that pops up before operating anything else on the screen. Well, after making this accidental call and trying to hang up, useless vodafone must have connected and I got a sudden influx of a dozen messages from the past few days I had been inside a building. I couldn't hang up because of the constant dialog boxes popping up. What a joy it is to be with Vodafone.
I don't like how Vodafone is keeping quiet about all these problems. At least offer us free credit or bandwidth or those gifts they used to offer. Useless PR.

I signed up to vodafone 3G broadband several weeks ago so that I could access the evenings. After signing on to a 12 month contract I realised that their network is so congested that I couldn't get any traffic through at all - I literally couldn't even access Google's homepage between 9pm and 11pm every night.
After spending several frustrating weeks trying to resolve the issue with their support team, i gave up and paid the $200 contract breakout fee just so that I could start sleeping at night again. Their support service was worse than useless - more than 1 hour on hold, followed by being put through to another deparment and being put on hold again, then hang-ups, broken promises of call backs, misunderstandings, confusion and then nothing.
Thanks for the nightmare vodafone. At least I'm now free of you forever.
Class action, anyone?

1755 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is massive fail at 27 Dec 2010 09:27:28 AM
for the past 5 months I have nothing but issues with reception and call drop outs, getting emails, using the internet and getting voicemails using my iPhone 3GS on the vodafail network. Initially i thought it was my old sim, so i got the sim replaced. still the same issue. then i thought it was my iphone. So vodafail sent it back to apple and i got a brand new replacement 3GS. still the exact same issues if not worse. I have now called vodafail umpteen times without success. apparently they are investigating my issues which is code for 'i dont give a damn'... so next week when ppl are back at work i'm calling the TIO to get out of this contract ($69 of money down the drain each month). Under the trade practices act they need to deliver a 'fit for purpose' product or service as decribed in their contract. I've also signed up for the class action lawsuit... will be going straight to telstra once my contract is up.

1689 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Mega fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:24:41 AM
I was with Vodafone a couple of years ago and they were brilliant. I switched to 3 because they had the phone i wanted, then came back to voda last year. What a mistake. It to 3 days and countless calls and store visits to port and activate my number, and since then I've suffered constant call dropouts, lack of reception, slow or nonexistent data speeds, continually having to reboot my phone to get a 3GS connection, 24 hour delays in receiving voicemail, calls going straight to message bank when the phone is switched on in a so called high coverage area, you name it. I'm going back to 3.
27 Dec 2010 08:34:50 AM: Vodafail and 3 are the same company. Apparently they are investing in the vodafail network (!!?!!!) and not in 3
27 Dec 2010 10:15:51 AM: Btw, most customers dont understand the process of porting and blame the company for delay when it's generally customer ignorance and incorrect information being supplied.
1682 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is dodgy, but is it the phone or the network? at 27 Dec 2010 08:22:26 AM
I'm getting underwhelming reception in Nth Canberra under Mt Majura (connected to Vodafone via Transact). Similar in Sydney too, visiting rellies over Xmas. But my phone's an old Nokia N95. I was assuming the problem was with the phone, not the network, until I heard about this site and all the problems others were having. As a point of reference, I was previously on the Optus network (via Virgin), its reception was frankly no better. I haven't tried Telstra's 3G to compare.

I have been with Vodafone for over four years. It's generally been a good company to deal with and their deals have been good. However, in the last few weeks I have been getting on-and-off again reception in my house which is in the southern suburbs of Canberra, callers can't get through despite trying multiple times, the phone doesn't ring, missed calls are not recorded, if they do get through callers get flicked to voicemail, voicemail messages don't come through, SMS messages can take many hours to get through. Clearly, Vodafone is in deep trouble, but that's no excuse for going into denial mode. They have had to be dragged to the point of acknowledging the fact that it's their problem. Happily my contract is just about to finish, and I'm not going to stick around waiting for them to fix their problems. Their customer service staff are pleasant and generally competent, but the CEO and others at the top have acted disgracefully. I have not received the service I should have over the past few weeks and I do not intend to pay the next bill.

Ive been with Vodafone from the begining and up until 5 to 6 months ago they have been pretty good. Now I would consider them the worst phone service out there. We have 2 I Phones for our business. The drop out calls are too numerous to keep track of. We get messages come through in multipals that are days old. Clients complaining that they cant contact us. You contact Vodaphone and if you gt to speak to someone, you cant understand them. Also tried the email complaint no joy. The last response I had was left on my message bank because Idid not receive call advising that if they did not hear back from me they would consider the problem fixed. What a joke.

I live in the inner south of ACT, and work in the parliamentary triangle. For months now, the usual garbage of dropped calls, not being able to make calls, texts that can take up to 2 days to arrive or be delivered. I also have vodafone for wireless broadband - I honestly can't remember the last time I managed to get 3G, and I have given up using it at home, it takes too long to load and continually disconnects itself.Talk about frustrating. The service is beyond substandard, it's virtually pointless because it's so unreliable. By the way, I don't have an iphone, so it's not that, I use a brand new Samsung.

Just moved from Rose Bay in Sydney where we had limited reception in our apartment, and when weather was poor we literally went into a black hole. Now in ACT where Internet coverage is still pretty basic. I've also experienced on numerous occasions that I get calls that go straight to voicemail even when phone is switched on with good reception without phone even ringing. Voicemails ALWAYS come late, embarrassing because friends and work think I am avoiding speaking with them. Partner is also on vodafone as is my mother but frequency have calls which drop out or sound like other person is underwater, freaking fed up!! Thank you for launching this site, the media and social networking is fantastic and it's comforting to know that others are actively seeking change and voicing their frustration, I thought I was just complaining about 'normal' network problems. Keep it up!!

Barely one bar in Kingston. Calls last about 45 seconds before drop out. This is the Parliamentary district! The reception here is a bit less reliable than that provided by Solomon Telekom "Breeze" in Taro Island, Choiseul Province. Population: 150. Cell sites: 1.
On ya Vodafone, you've just been outdone by the Pacific's most retarded telephone monopoly!

1556 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is waste of money at 27 Dec 2010 07:00:22 AM
Mobile broadband coverage near Newcastle Airport/RAAF Williamtown is non-existent even though the network coverage map on the vodafone website clearly includes this area. I bought a Vodafone mobile broadband usb stick for the sole purpose of using it in this area and coverage ended up being zero-one bar, if I could connect at all. Complete waste of money, had to buy a competitors' stick.

stuck in a contract with vodafone most areas i work in i get no coverage as of a few months ago, which leaves me unable to do my job, at times lose coverage for hours whilst in the middle of sydney (newtown)
fail
fail
27 Dec 2010 09:32:16 AM: Yes, I could not get coverage in Newtown either however Virgin works real good, still waiting on my complaint to the telecommunications ombudsman
27 Dec 2010 10:28:35 AM: Have you asked Virgin whose network they use? They don't have their own network, but buy air time from Telstra, Vodafone and Optus!!!
27 Dec 2010 10:30:42 AM: Virgin uses optus
27 Dec 2010 11:05:56 AM: Virgin is owned by Optus!
1536 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Painful! at 26 Dec 2010 03:45:42 PM
Been with Vodafone for a year now... last couple of months were a drama with numerous call drop outs, failed internet connections and virtually no consistent service in the ACT. Obviously cant maintain my business on this level of service.
After numerous calls, Ive now been told that I can be released from my contract. Hooray! But there's a catch... they want me to send my iPhone back to them.
If I cancelled my contract and paid the 'cancellation fee', I get to keep the phone. But after 13 months, and despite being told the fee would be waived, they want it back.
Does anyone know if they can do this!!?? Many thanks in advance.

26 Dec 2010 04:15:41 PM: Don't pay it. Stand your ground and threaten to go back to the TIO to escalate. Do not compromise. Vodafone owes you! They have been charging you for a substandard service.
I did this and didn't have to pay a cent for my phone or cancellation.
I'd also recommend signing up for the class action.

Nice one voda. My phone dropped put six times while I was calling my family to wish them merry xmas.
26 Dec 2010 06:16:30 AM: Lucky you, still managed to call them. Me?? NOT AT ALL!! calls always failed til now.
27 Dec 2010 05:33:08 PM: Yeah I had same issue. If I was able to actually get through I could talk for a couple of minutes, then dropped out, and had to wait to get another call to connect for it to drop out after 5 mins! so frustrating!!
1501 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is network management at 24 Dec 2010 12:16:21 PM
i've be informed that even Vodafails network management is done offshore - India in fact with NFI with regard to local problems. yep, saving bucks at your expense, Vodaphoney suck.
25 Dec 2010 01:59:27 PM: Last I checked our network team is actually based in Aus. Makes it hard to physically work on a network whilst overseas, logically. However the Customer Care team are still able to check the status etc from overseas. Seems you were misinformed.
26 Dec 2010 11:46:45 AM: 'the last time you checked' ??? when was that - 2003??? you know what i'm talking about - nice try vodafail
26 Dec 2010 01:06:19 PM: Actually last time I check would be less then 2 months ago. It's up to you what you chose to believe, I know trying to assist on this site is a lost cause because everyone is too busy seeing red but I haven't lied about anything yet.

Vodafone employees, I'd like to hear if you have the same issues that we describe.
I know you've had a gag order imposed. Eastgardens store staff told me so.
Another store manager in the eastern suburbs told me how depressing it is working in the stores at the moment.
But this is an anonymous forum, so don't fear the bullying.
I'd like to hear how you guys address your own account and phone issues. Any advice appreciated!
Perhaps you have the inside scoop on

24 Dec 2010 10:12:31 AM: Yea good idea, also if you are not comfortable posting but have some information you would like to release, email someone@vodafail.com - I've spoken to some staff and they have said they suffer similar issues with reception and dropped calls but they can't talk about it.
24 Dec 2010 11:01:02 AM: There's been no official gag order sent to our store, but don't expect many stores to post as Vodafail itself has started block store IPs for "spamming", even if most posts are an attempt to defend or assist.
24 Dec 2010 02:31:43 PM: Yes that is correct, we have started blocking a few stores from posting because they posted a significant number of comments with little content. This included directly insulting individuals, racist and derogatory remarks. Some of the posts from stores were informative and quite good however of the over 40 posts made on a single day, only 5-10 had relevant content. I cannot spend all day constantly moderating the rest of the dribble that was posted by your stores.
24 Dec 2010 07:22:05 PM: So far we had blocked two stores from posting due to excessive low content and off topic posting. We have now removed this block however please contribute constructively like some of the other stores / vodafone employees that we have not blocked. We want a frank and honest discussion about the issues so stay on topic. Thanks -Vodafail.

Vodafone isn't the only company having network problems, Optus has been having a rough time too. The networks weren't designed to handle the massive data usage that smartphones offer. People used to complain that mobile downloads were too expensive, and now that the prices have come down they overuse 3G and clog the network! I was furious with Vodafone for all the things people are outlining below - call dropouts, texts taking too long and no 3G. I changed from my iPhone back to a Nokia and NONE of the problems remain. My partner has an HTC and always has full coverage when my iphone struggles.
This website only highlights our disgusting dependence on technology and instantaneous communication. I'm going to write my Nan a letter instead of calling her this week.

who ever runs this site is a keyboard hero
22 Dec 2010 09:02:24 PM: a hero is generally defined by someone who saves lives, this however is a dumb blog potentially destroying the lives of those within the company. hero? i think not.
22 Dec 2010 10:48:28 PM: Perhaps not a hero- but I, for one, feel more able to stay on Vodaf*ckyou's case, because I believe I am not alone.
I also think the ACCC and the TIO (and the Howard government) have made it a safe little playing field for all the telcos, and their shareholders, which could explain why Vodaf*ckyou thought they could get away with their behaviour of late. (I had no idea it was so bad).
Also, as the Chaser boys showed during APAC, sometimes you just have to "think outside the square" and shake things up a bit.

22 Dec 2010 11:09:10 PM: I think the fact that all of the issues are now being discussed more openly and Vodafone has now started to acknowledge that they are real says something. And it means that if people didn't complain on SMH, Whirlpool and this site, Vodafone would continue ignoring the problems and signing people up. The ACCC is investigating, the ACCC is on their case and the media is watching closely. If Vodafone loses business and has to layoff people then business will increase for the other telcos and they might hire some more. But from the looks of it, Vodafone should be hiring more customer service staff to deal with the workload.
23 Dec 2010 10:55:50 AM: Keyboard hero is typically meant to be an insult to someone talking tough or making claims through the anonymity that is afforded by the internet.
The owner of the site is none of those things and provides a very valuable service. How can anyone take offence to a site such as this - other than paid Vodafone shills.

23 Dec 2010 11:45:28 AM: Thanks for the support, making this website was really the only option to show the amount of issues Vodafone is having. Calling the company does not good, the stores can't help and up until this week they were denying any problems existed.
27 Dec 2010 12:29:55 PM: "22 Dec 2010 11:02:24 PM: a hero is generally defined by someone who saves lives, this however is a dumb blog potentially destroying the lives of those within the company. hero? i think not."
To the person who wrote this. Now, here is a company that is now widely known for their failures as of late and as it was said previously, they would have kept ignoring their customers if it weren't for all the press. Maybe you should study a bit of economics and realise that entire markets (yes, even the telecommunications market) are based on the concept of competition between businesses. If Vodafone continued to ignore all these complains then they eventually would have failed anyway. The only people to be blamed for any "destroyed lives" are the people who run Vodafone as their failures are detrimental to their entire business. If this company isn't fit to compete in this market, then they deserve to fail, i'm not going to stay with Vodafone for the sake of the people that work for it and provide a half arsed service. I think instead i'll change to a provider that wants my business and is willing to work for it. The person that runs this website isn't a hero, yet he could be considered to be, without him, would Vodafone have become this accountable to their customers? In this day and age, businesses are based on relationship building with customers and if Vodafone continues to fail that, then they deserve to fail as a business.

Is this site hosted in China, any post pro voda is being censored. Time left until this one is deletd...5 4 3
22 Dec 2010 05:59:55 PM: so it should be. this a vent site not a pro site. if you want a pro voda site go make your own or visit their website. i would have to say that most people pro voda who have commented on this website work for voda. it is not just a few people who have been affected it is a lot. i work in an office block in the cbd of sydney. it is 35 stories high and everytime i go for lunch there are alway people whinging before they get in the lift about how bad their service is. even outside when we are having a smoke break people are whinging about their service and i have noticed it has gotten worse over the last 6 months.
22 Dec 2010 06:01:57 PM: hey think it more like the glass is half full.....with not being able to use your phone voda is reducing your chances of a brain touma or worse...you should be thanking voda for there care for your health!
22 Dec 2010 06:02:48 PM: Funny you mention the lift problems, Telstra lost a court case regarding their slogan "Works better in most places" for depecting a person in a lift using their phone. No telco's advertise reception in a lift, in fact if you look at the fine print most only quote "2 floors down, 4 floors up". Kinda unstandable it won't work in a lift, being that you're in a metal box surrounded by concrete....
22 Dec 2010 06:05:49 PM: i said before they get in the lift. mine works fine before i get in, once in it does drop, normal. when i got over 25 stories, it drops a bit, normal. i was told this when i signed up. plus i have had a mobile phone for ten years i know what works, what doesnt and what the universal problems are over the networks. i haven't seen anything like this in a long long time
22 Dec 2010 06:06:22 PM: I think the person replying was saying that people complained while they were waiting for the lift. Not that the problems were about the reception in the lift.
22 Dec 2010 06:07:46 PM: Are you the loser whose completely unrelated comment about getting laid just got deleted? Perhaps u shud have a look further down at all the UNdeleted comments that are on-topic pro-voda. Even the comment from the voda team themselves was kept. This website owner also complied with voda team's request that people not post personal details of employees and deleted comments anti-voda that gave out the CEO's contacts. Even though this website owner has no obligation to do any of that - the site is called VODAFAIL. You are welcome to leave.
22 Dec 2010 06:12:02 PM: Actually he does have an obligation to not publish details of staff, that would be breaching privacy as well as opening it up for harrasment claims and what not.
22 Dec 2010 07:07:43 PM: cant stand voda but do agree, staff names should not be published. we shouldnt go all hollywood and make these peoples lives hell. some of them are trying to work their way up the ranks with good intent, some are in uni, so lets not put it on them. if you have a serious issue talk to a store manager. they can argue for you. i have had many who have. i have always stayed calm and relaxed and have explained my pain and have asked them to call for me while i am there and to email their state managers and things so that i know that i have a direct contact. i also ask to look at notes put in the system so that my story is recorded properly. in the end i did not have to go to tio because enough evidence had been recorded
22 Dec 2010 07:13:19 PM: As the above person posted, you will get a lot further treating the staff with respect and understanding that they aren't the ones responsible for the faults your having. Majority of the staff are just students working part time to pay the bills. They will be much more inclined to fight for you if you treat them well then if you come in yelling and hurling abuse at them.
22 Dec 2010 08:24:57 PM: "most people pro voda who have commented on this website work for voda" - there are about 2000 people working for Vodafone/3 and about 4 million customers... I think a few of them (like myself) might be just lay-people who think that while some of the comments have real merit, others seem to be just a whinge-fest for any phone-related problem!
22 Dec 2010 09:40:06 PM: i can say as a staff member that customers who come in and treat us well we are definantly more likely to help out and try and go the extra yard or to for than those who come in and try and bite our heads off. truthfully you are only screwing yourself over and making our jobs easier
23 Dec 2010 11:03:02 AM: If I'm angry I want service - If I perceive getting poor service through my frustration of a poor company and it's customer support, I'll just leave, and have done. Being literally told to 'be nice' to the staff (as I have over the phone) to get service is an absolute joke. You aren't really doing your company or upset people a service with that sort of comment.
Vodafone make massive profits and peeps want to back their stuff up over consumers. Total fail. I'm not even with the network but consumer complaints should trump all defences, especially in these sorts of volmes.
Vodafone make massive profits and peeps want to back their stuff up over consumers. Total fail. I'm not even with the network but consumer complaints should trump all defences, especially in these sorts of volmes.
23 Dec 2010 11:15:55 AM: im not saying dont be frustrated i would be aswell(luckily my phone is working fine..)i was referring to people abusing staff who can do absolutly nothing about your issue it gets you no where and just makes going to work something we dont look forward to. isnt the saying treat others as you urself would like to be treated?
23 Dec 2010 11:49:36 AM: That much is true - but I would expect that level of abuse to be perfectly frank for some period of time... In the first instance a calm agreement with them on their issue followed by a dont shoot the messenger message is usually more than enough to calm someone or make them realise their tirade is mistargeted. I've had customer service people who jsut 'think' I'm upset and in the first instance told me to be calm before talking to them - wow is that aggravating.
I admire and respect cusomter service folks - but it's with the knowledge they have to expect a certain level of verbal abuse at certain times. If it gets personal etc, that's obviously a vastly different scenario.
Vodafone should just be like 'we know we have some sweet deals on the market and people signed on in droves, sorry but that has stretched our infrastrutuce and we're in the process of fixing it'... Give timeframes, honesty and ultimately - customer service.

22 Dec 2010 08:21:26 AM: 3:04:45pm poster... You work for a telco obviously?
you call with a problem (i can assure you if you have an Iphone) this is what will happen...
1) Have you swapped your sim lately? (because they get old apparently)
2) its obviously your handset. (Apple are happy to swap as many handsets as they need to I have proved this, it is definately not your handset)
3) have you installed the latest software? (yes idiot i connect itunes everyday)
4) Could you please turn your phone off and back on again? (ofcourse, Its not as if i havent done it 5 times already today)
5) Could you reset all of your settings in the Settings section? (still doesnt help)and then completely restore your phone.
6) And finally in settings and general and network (or something like that) could you please select "vodafone" as your network?
number 6 actually seems to have made the problem slightly better however my phone now loses its cellular connection 15-20 times a day and i am using way too much battery because it always has to search for reception.
If somebody else says swap your sim or turn your phone off and on i am going to scream.

21 Dec 2010 12:12:40 PM: Settle petal.
21 Dec 2010 12:17:26 PM: The spirit of this email is kinda right. I'm sure Vodafone doesn't aim to provide a bad experience to their customers. It's all very subjective isn't it. I think a lot of people on here need to grow some personal responsibility.
21 Dec 2010 12:35:36 PM: Personal responsibility? How is it the customer's fault, exactly?
21 Dec 2010 12:48:28 PM: Accept that handsets fail: If you run your business through your phone and it's as important as you say. Purchase a secondary phone for when your phone goes in for a service.
Accept that the network will have outages: Consider a landline as a secondary point of contact. Socialise that number to your friends and customers as an alternative contact when you can't be reached on your mobile.
Some problems need to be fixed and that means talking to someone. If you're on hold for a length of time consider calling first thing in the morning 8.30am or so. You'll be first in the queue.
Don't commit to a contract at all. Buy your phone outright. Choose a month to month solution. If you don't feel you're being looked after you can change provider easily!
This is what personal responsibility looks like.

Why do Vodafail advertise/sell plans if they are unable to keep their side of the contract??

Me and my friends have proved this when we went away to a remote
place and our phones all ran out of battery quicker because they
were searching for reception the whole time. Der.
So no, not Nokia or whatever.

21 Dec 2010 07:18:17 PM: True- I was advised make 2G the default, and only switch to 3G when i really want 3G
27 Dec 2010 11:16:18 AM: Indeed. 2G consumes considerably less power than 3G, even in areas where both 2G and 3G have a strong signal. The fact that 3G signal strength is much lower than 2G across most of Vodafone's network compounds this problem. I notice MUCH improved battery life if I lock my phone to 2G (and just flick to 3G when I need data).

Just wanted to thank someone from Tassie for helping the 'moronic' public's cause by no longer dealing with us (assuming u quit or something). This moron duuuuuuhhh Thanks you for your first step towards better Public Relations skills by eliminating yourself from Public Relations altogether. Now how about a power point to convince the rest duuuuuuh ;)
1263 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Are you serious? at 20 Dec 2010 09:04:12 PM
To the recent posters from Tassie, it is great that you are all getting great reception. There is obviously a problem that seems to be hitting NSW, ACT and parts of Queensland the hardest. I think calling people moronic because they expect a phone and internet service provider to honor their side of the contract is a bit short sighted.
Say you are in a car accident, or your kid is having an asthma attack while you are at a park and you are having the same issues experienced in this post. If you couldn't phone for help I bet you're attitude would change considerably.
Just keep in mind that people are frustrated with their service from Vodafone at the moment (and yes, it is actually a problem - a simple Google search would show that Vodafone is under investigation from the ACCC).

1258 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Really bad lately at 20 Dec 2010 07:36:47 PM
Vodafone has been very poor lately. I hardly get full coverage and the internet is just really bad, it's mostly always on edge, which is really slow and when it's on 3G it still takes ages to load up. For instance this site vodafail took about 5mins to load. I only put up with it this time so I can tell people about my experience with vodafone Im changing companies as soon as I can.

22 Dec 2010 10:24:47 AM: I agree, the Vodafone board should be brought to account for this fiasco.
i dont want wooly apologies about we could have been more upfront.
i want transparency now. What is the problem? When are they fixing it? When will it be fixed.

1168 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Frustrated at 20 Dec 2010 09:00:38 AM
SMS sometimes take days to come through, people try to call me and my phone is apparently switched off. Pretty much everyone I know with vodafone is having the same issues. I have been with vodafone for 10yrs now and I'm not quite ready to ditch them yet as this is the first time I've experienced issues. I have no problems making calls and my data speed is still great. Hopefully they will sort the problem out soon.
1159 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is no service at 20 Dec 2010 08:26:23 AM
Calls drop out all the time and then i will have no serivce for a couple of days. I cal them and after waiting an hour and a half on the phone the bloke told me to go to a vodafone store and get a blank sim. I told him i dont live near a vodafone store as i am in regional victoria and he told me to go to a store that sells vodafone sims and they will give me a blank sim. I questioned tihs and told him why would they give me a blank sim if they are not a vodafone store and he assured me they would. I went to the store and surprise suprise they told me where to go and did not give me a blank sim. I call back vodafone and waited on hold for 2 hours before i got through and told them they had lied to me and that they were not upholding their end of the contract by providing the service they advertise. They said they would send me another sim but it would take 7 days. I told them that in the past 12 months this has happened twice and i end up waiting 10 days for a replacement sim. They would not even credit me or compensate me for being without the phone for 10 days. I asked them to send me a couple of sims as this will happen again as it seems to happen every quarter where the sims fail, she told me they couldn't and it wasnt until i got really abusive and pissed off that she agreed to send me 2 sims. I had heard there was a problem with the vodafone network and checked their site and there was nothnig posted about any outages and when i questioned her she said there was no problems. I have since found out there were outages and they outright lied. I cant wait until my contract expires and i never have to deal with vodafone again.
1138 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is at 20 Dec 2010 07:37:19 AM
I have a vodafone postpay mobile broadband internet which takes 5 minutes to load the vodafone page. That's when I can actually connect to the internet. After numerous times on hold to the call centre (btw - vodafone don't have a 'complaints' department), promises of a refund for the month which then didn't materialise, and speaking to the technical people who denied there was a service issue and suggested the solution was to take my laptop in my car and drive a couple of blocks to see if I got better service there.... I am at my wits end!
1127 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Racist at 20 Dec 2010 07:15:19 AM

Every telco I'm Australia uses India as their main call centre. I am horrified how racist australia is!! People who get "shocking bills" go read through your contract everything you do is accounted for don't complain your racist.
1125 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is ?? at 20 Dec 2010 06:58:53 AM
What I really don't understand is I am a vodafone customer and I am using the supposingly "crap" iphone 4, using my phone right now to write this post full 3G reception, fast Internet speeds I don't know what all the fuss is about. I'm getting speeds of up to 4mb/s download and 1mb/s upload. You are all just in denial and can't accept that your retarded. Is all your fault stop fruit to blame the company for your inability to use technology.
28 Dec 2010 08:48:29 AM: All these people are "retarded"? I am surprised that these"retarded" people have generally expressed themselves so clearly. As one of the "retarded", I think the previous poster is a Voodoofone stooge, not in denial, perhaps not even attempting "damage control" and very angry about the situation he/she is in and the sh!tstorm which is happenning. And none of us need to be any further abused by Vodafone or its employees.
1110 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Good at 20 Dec 2010 05:42:31 AM
Judging by the confused and often illiterate ramblings on this web site, I'd say Vodafone would be glad to loose many of the posters here as customers. Have a look at just about any of the posts here. Who'd want to deal with people like that?
28 Dec 2010 09:06:46 AM: Would that make Vodafone a "looser"? I think a law firm involved in a class action against Vodafone would like to talk to people like that. You're not claiming to be a happy Vodafone customer, who just happenned to find this website, so, I am guessing, in my illiterate way, that you're a Vodafone employee or shareholder. As I ramble on,illiterately, I think company funds would be better spent fixing the problems. I do agree with you on one thing, you really do not want to deal with me, now that your post has helped raise my anger level to incandescent rage.

Stupid me... recently forked out more than $250 to get my phone replaced (it was out of warranty) as vodafail told me it was a fault of the phone for the painfully s-l-o-w internet access, constantly dropped calls, etc. Not to mention voicemail arriving a couple of days late and texts hours later....
"Replace your phone", said the call centre person... Has a new phone fixed the issues? I'm going to invoice vodafail for this!
Really unimpressed.

Today big fool me bought their pre-paid wireless broadband. I have been trying for over 5 hours to get thru to activate the damned thing and cannot get out of the queue. Just now after 47 minutes waiting they picked up the phone. And disconnected me.

Purchased a Samsung Galaxy S phone 3 months ago. Great phone but useless for data with Vodafone. It can take 30 seconds to 15 minutes just to download a single webpage. I was hoping to use it for map functions and emails but its just to frustatingly slow. I have spent hours on the phone with Vodafone support to no avail. I want to change back to my previous carrier but stuck on a contract.

In many occasions- probably once every week- I cannot use internet on my phone for no obvious reason. In the same location where there is usually good reception, this happens. I have experience many call dropouts. Until I read the article on this, I had been waiting for some spare time to change the mobile phone I got with Vodaphone couple of months back. I am disgusted!!

Txts I send have been known to get to the recipient 4 hours later.
Every few days I am uncontactible, apparently my "Phone is in use or disconnected" yet I can still make phone calls fine.
Seriously VF, WHAT THE HELL? I just bought credit last week. When it expires in 2 months I'm changing, probably to Telstra or something reliable.

For some months this year In used prepay 3g Voda broadband for interent radio for about 1-2 hours per day. The prepay modem being conntected to a wifi router feeding signal to the internet radio. However, the radio kept continously dropping out because the modem kept needing to re-acquire the network. Unlocked the modem and changed to prepay Virgin broadband (Optus network) still using the same wifi router. The 3g signal strength here being the same. Suddenly no problems, only very rarely does the internet radio drop out. The comparison Voda dropped out here every few minutes, Virgin dropouts are very rare most days none at all.

835 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is To the extreme at 18 Dec 2010 01:10:15 PM
My partner has been getting the slow/delayed SMS messages to the point that SMS'ing her is essentially useless. Most of the messages turn up 12-24 hours late and come through in a flurry... this is with the phone in a location with full reception all day.
The visual voicemail is always unreliable on iPhone's as well, I often get the notification that I have a message and when I go to fetch it, it isn't there. If I wait half an hour the message will eventually turn up and I can access it properly.
Everytime I have called Vodafone to complain they have blamed the handset or my location (CBD), I am glad someone has put a website together to provide Vodafone feedback, I thought we were the only ones suffering!

791 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Not that much of a fail for me.... at 18 Dec 2010 10:13:21 AM
I've been on Vodafone for about four years now. I have some areas where I know coverage is limited. But I can accept this as it is usually in areas that I am transiting through.
I recently signed up for the pocket wifi. It is working fine for me. I use it for my iPhone when I am not in a normal wifi for data. Speeds are great. Happy with the price.
One thing that does to get me with Voda is the long long long wait times. When I called to make dome prepurchase enquiries about the pocket wifi, wanted to see if I could use bonus dollars for purchase, Lara told me it would approx 40 mins until my call was answered. I thought what a joke.
I think Voda should sort out the call centre and reduce answer times for people. And put a public notice in the paper And their website to advise people who have been having problems that they acknowledge this and that they are working to resolve it. I think a good will gesture may be to credit all contract customers and prepaid some credit to say Sorry.
