Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Seems that the month has been shoretened on month-by-month mobile plans. I have 20 months with VF and the billing/payment date has moved forward by about a week.

My partner and I decided to switch to Vodafone in order to get free unlimited calls with one another and to my family. I have been unable to take advantage of this feature as calls which are over 30 seconds in length seem to be too strenuous for the Vodafone network and drop out immediately. This problem wasn't too bad when I got my iPhone six months ago, however these days I am taken aback if I get more than a minute out of a call before it starts dropping out.

Live TWO MINUTES outside of Hobart and having been using one of Vodafone's USB internet devices, to much anger and frustration. Continual dropout, incredibly slow speeds and charging for both upload and download All the coverage maps say I should get coverage.

The Launceston VodaFone sales person ASSURED me I would get 3G reception in my suburb on an iPhone 3GS. From my house I can SEE the tower, direct line of sight, no obstructions, NO 3G. All I get is 1 or 2 bars on the EDGE network if I am lucky to get ANY reception at all! I get NO reception EVER at my work which is a mere 3km away from the tower, also line of sight. My SMS messages arrive hours, sometimes even days after they were sent to me. Every time I try to log into my VodaFone account on the website to pay or check my bill the incompetent idiots have changed my password WITHOUT notifying me, this happens on a daily basis and every time it occurs I have to put up with a 1990's University experiment known as Lara for 2 or 3 minutes before speaking to someone who doesn't understand that I want my website login password reset and NOT the handset pin.
Unfortunately you can not speak to anyone higher than a call centre operator so attempting to complain about being stuck in a 24 month contract that was promised to deliver only to fail is very frustrating.

1 Jan 2011 07:36:21 PM: do you think that maybe the reason you can see the tower and cant get reception is because the network isn't working properly as already stated by Vodafone!
Sure Vodafone needed to pull their thumbs out sooner with apologizing and advising, but there is there still this told you so style pointing out of things, its not a secret it's just becoming pointing out the obvious now.

1 Jan 2011 07:42:16 PM: I have no doubt! But I have been putting up with this for over a year now on this contract, paying hard earned money for something they ASSURED me was being dealt with "as we speak".
1 Jan 2011 08:53:09 PM: The reason you can't get 3G reception is because the iPhone 3GS doesn't support the 900 MHz frequency used in Launceston.
So, your issue of not getting 3G signal would therefore be directly related to your phone, not the network.
Also, just because you can see a tower, doesn't mean it's a Vodafone one.

1 Jan 2011 09:06:03 PM: OK you didn't read my post properly... The sales person ASSURED me I would receive 3G on the iPhone 3GS. My complaint regarding this is that the sales person blatantly lied to me. And after enquiring with Vodafone as to the location of the tower I can safely assume that the tower I can see is the tower in which they use.

I live just outside Launceston, the second largest town in Tasmania and have virtually NO signal except for a brief few moments 3-4 times a day. Even sitting in my office right in the heart of Launceston's CBD I often have little to no signal and I can totally forget about trying to use the internet features of my Blackberry. At best I can get a page a minute to load, and only if I'm outside and in the CBD - go just a kilometre away and there's nothing, even if I'm in direct line of site of the tower!
Vodafone? What a total joke! I want my money back along with all the time I've wasted moving about trying to get the faintest of signal!

1 Jan 2011 10:44:18 AM: Worth checking the bands your BB utilises. Only the Bold has 900 mhz 3g, which is the default freq in many areas. All the others are 2100 mhz.

the vodafone internet connection I have is just crap. I can be in the centre of Melb CBD and login and only get a poor coverage rating or sometimes it just wont login onto the network at all due to poor signal strength. thankfully Im only on a 12 mth contract until feb so wont be renewing it. I have to stand in the middle of my west hobart yard and face east for the phone to work. I am lucky if the phone does not drop out. I have installed a high gain antenna and hands free davice to my vehicle so i can actually make and receive business calls with fewer drop outs. The drop out problem is frustrating, I have resorted to invested in a Telstra phone to call customers as it is equally frustrating for them to be cut off at random all the time. I have tried to get out of my contract with Vodafail and they simply say sorry that I am liable for the full term cost of the contract should I cancell. I point out to them that I am not getting the service that I am paying for, and it is already costing me extra money with lost customers and down time through constant droped calls and third world reception.
30 Dec 2010 10:23:15 PM: I'm also in West Hobart and find Vodafone's 'broadband' service is useless. The modem connects to 3G but data speed is often sub-dialup. The signal strength is abysmal (-95dBm, which is very low: about one-tenth of the signal from Optus and Telstra). On the other hand, Vodafone's 2G phone service is mostly OK, apart from inside shopping centres.

Well i am verry happy with Vodafone. I believe people just need onther thing to complain about. Oh sorry vodafone isnt telstra but why did you sign up in the first place? Oh telstra charges you double the amount for the same ammount of credit. Do your research before you sign up with someone. You people have no one to blame but your self. I work my ass off at Vodafone to make ungreatfull customers like you happy. Oh and lets complain about the que time, People are doing their jobs and take into consideration that there are 5000 other people calling at the same time as you. Vodafone isnt disrigarding your complaints, but please people make them valid. If your not happy you should of done your research. I can easily say theres double the amount of happy customers as unhappy ones. The publicity that was shown on TV made a problem into a into bigger problem. Not only did we have complaints in the first place but know people feel like they need to contribute to this with stupid complains that honestly show you need to take it out on someone. Compromising price will also compromise coverage. We cant be the best at both, but i dont see too many people complaining about the price they pay. Wtf honestly bad battery life? all handsets regardless what carear are the SAME! But if you were with telstra you wouldnt even notice. Im having to stop doing my job and help out the TIO because of ridiculous complaints like that. Honestly people have some faith. Grow a bridge and get over yourself

30 Dec 2010 02:04:28 PM: Why did you have to post it three times? You wanted to make sure we saw what an idiot you are?
30 Dec 2010 02:29:53 PM: COMPLAINTS ARE VALID! If the service wasn't so bad you wouldn't have such a high number of complaints. I could drive from Penrith to Ryde and have bugger all service. If you depended on mobile communication and poor service cost you your job!! What would you say then?... You'd better work harder or go to Telstra and work SMARTER !
30 Dec 2010 02:46:39 PM: re "take into consideration that there are 5000 other people calling at the same time as you", 5000 people calling at any one time is a lot if they are all complaining then it speaks volumes about the service.
30 Dec 2010 02:47:52 PM: When a phone has to constantly search for a network when the network is poor, it uses up much more battery life than it should. There is no 'wtf' about it. Your anger also seem to be misplaced. It is unfortunate you have to stop doing your job to help out the TIO, but there wouldn't be this many complaints if Vodafone had provided a good service.
30 Dec 2010 02:50:53 PM: Even New York was only named twice...............Why 3 times posted brother?
30 Dec 2010 02:59:32 PM: Love the way you suggest it's the customers fault for Vodafone's problems. Get a dictionary.
30 Dec 2010 06:42:51 PM: YOU posted this because you work for vodafone ?
30 Dec 2010 08:20:41 PM: can someone please look carefully at my maths relative to a following statement made by the person above "I can easily say theres double the amount of happy customers as unhappy ones." that is one third of vodaflop customers are unhappy. I would leave town if every third customer was unhappy, wanted a refund or blood. FINALLY THANKS FOR ADMITTING THERE IS A PROBLEM YOU JUST NEED TO GROW A BRIDGE AND GET OVER YOURSELF BY ADMITTING THAT VODAFLOP IS RIPPING PEOPLE OFF
31 Dec 2010 01:45:07 PM: That right you said it, there is a problem. I get frustrated when I go into the store and get told there isn't one....seems I'm not the only one.
31 Dec 2010 07:47:56 PM: You don't go into the store if you have a problem - they don't give a shit about your problems & if they did they wouldn't have a clue how to fix them. They're salespeople - nothing more, nothing less.

8773 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Horrible at 29 Dec 2010 09:24:33 PM
Went into Vodafone HQ in the CBD today, asked them how their reception was and they said, "A lot better than you think!"
I then held up my phone, with ONE BAR of reception and said, "Oh really?"
"It's because... you're inside! Being inside stops reception." The woman told me, hesitating to find the right lie to weave. I promptly walked outside and held the phone up, a good three metres from the door. Still one bar. She said there wasn't anything she could do.
I told her where to shove it. I hate this plan I'm with!! There's no way out!!

30 Dec 2010 03:32:11 PM: Sounds like the first time I was with OPTUS, the phone kept cutting out even infront of the Hobart GPO lol. What a silly woman to say it is on one bar because you are in the shop. I have to say back in 97/98 Vodafone out shoned Telstra and even Optus, they had less dropouts and the customer service was supior, but the service and customer service has dropped. I ended my vodafone contract in 98 after moving to Melbourne, after getting rude Vodafone operator that said to F Off and called me a liar, when Celluar one put things in the note not to touch my service.
30 Dec 2010 05:27:36 PM: being inside is no issue!!! My brother has telstra, i have crazy johns through the voda network. We will both be in the same spot in the same shop which is encased with a tonne of concrete as there is a car park on top. Surprise surprise he has reception, i do not. DUnno what the assistant had been taking but she needs to learn the network is not the best!

8736 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is DISMAL at 29 Dec 2010 08:01:15 PM
I am fed up with data speeds being bearly ticking over (just like dial-up except dial-up mostly gets through). The amount of time I have wasted waiting for a page to load is dreadful. We pay premium prices for this service so we deserve premium service. This 24 month contract is taking forever to pass.
8629 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Reception at 29 Dec 2010 05:32:45 PM
There is really poor to worse reception in Tasmania. I'm lucky to get a bar. They need to extend the network to areas outside the metro areas. While I was in launceston I had one to none reception.
8528 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Extremely at 29 Dec 2010 03:06:23 PM
I have been a vodafone customer for quite some time now and i have not had so much of these problems until this past year, which has been terrible with constant call drop outs sometimes having to call back up to six times just to finish what would have been a quick conversation and no reception coverage as well as short battery life. It is driving me insane. I really do hope that all this media attention will get something positive done fast.
29 Dec 2010 03:14:40 PM: Extremely Disappointing that was meant to be ;-(
14 Jan 2011 11:24:36 PM: Please tell me you are not using one of the new gadgets? I live in Youngtown a suburb of Launceston the second largest city in the state and regularly coverage for my I-Phone drops out. All my other services are with Telstra (broadband, wife's mobile, landline & fax) and I wished I hadn't signed up to Vodafone for a two year contract in Jan'10. Definitely will not be re-newing at contract end. Reception in CBD Melbourne & Sydney is fantastic but as soon as you go regional areas the signal is crap & prone to disappear. I was conned on the quality of the reception in an around Launceston when I signed up. I can be within 2km of Launceston CBD and have no signal. About a month after I signed up their customer service rang me to get feedback & I gave them a blast. The caller immediately implemented a $10 monthly credit to my account. Surely this is an admission of problems on their end. The constant delays (sometimes days) in receiving SMS & Voicemail is a shocking state of affairs as the mobile is my main point of contact for communication with my clients. If I could get out my contract now without being penalised I would do so it in a flash.

Before travelling from Victoria to Tasmania I was due to update my Telstra service - and not being a happy Telstra customer (or should I say "being a typical Telstra victim") I thought I'd try the opposition. I stopped in at a mall Vodafone shop and organised a prepaid phone AND a wireless dongle for the laptop. Both were happily sold to me with solid assurances for an expected stay in Burnie on Tassie's NW coast. Around $200 total outlay bought me nil signal from the wireless dongle and very poor service from the phone which, when it did connect, continually dropped out. Total waste of money and I feel cheated - no - BURGLED by an untouchable criminal. Bless you for giving focus to all of us out here who alone are helpless in the face of this institutionalised theft.

7752 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is MEGAFAIL at 28 Dec 2010 08:55:42 PM
I currently use a prepaid usb dongle. I have been travelling to Hobart, Launceston for work purposes for a few years and signed up on contract due to the positive spin the sales people told me here in Hobart. They said a while back that Hobart/Tas was getting a major 3g upgrade. This of course didnt happen until a couple of years ago. I decided not to renew my data contract and went prepaid which is cheaper. The service is awful and data never gets above 50k. I have tested all areas of Hobart and the northern part of Tas and never been happy with the speeds. They must have very thin data pipes to their sites. I feel I have been conned. I will not be recharging my Voda card. I will stick with Telstra as I have their prepaid card as well. I would suggest if you want great coverage and dont mind paying extra stay well clear of Voda.
7750 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL!!! at 28 Dec 2010 08:54:44 PM
I had a Nokia E63 with Vodafone Pre Paid, and I was told that I would have coverage on par with Telstra in Tasmania. Needless to say that Vodafone's 3G Coverage is like 2 bars out of 5 in Hobart, and 3 bars out of 5 for Standard 2G GSM. I left Vodafone and went to Telstra, and I can tell you now that the coverage is 200% better than Vodafone. Vodafone's Customer Service Lines are now outsourced overseas, and if you try and call you are ether on hold for ages (shortest I experienced was to have Voicemail removed was 40 minutes - TIMED. Countless times I have called and the call was terminated. I know it was terminated because I was using handsfree and I had ample coverage (believe it or not), I heard the greeting and then the call was terminated... before the issue was explained let alone resolved.
MAKE THE MOST OF NOW??? NOT WITH VODAFONE. Obviously Ricky Ponting is Captaining the Team that deals with Coverage and Customer Service.
The problems started when they started when they started when they started outsourcing their customer service lines to Mumbai, India, Egypt. When it was in Hobart - Service, Price and Coverage were brilliant. Never had a problem. Start sending Customer Service to Overseas and that starts to fail and then the prices go up. Merge with 3 who doesn't want to cover Tassie... then your service coverage begins to fail.... I am starting to see a Pattern here Vodafone!

First is a $50 per month wireless broadband contract - will not work in Hobart city half the time, the biggest city in Tasmania. I've had to resort to my Telstra prepaid stick which is $100/month for less download capacity.
Phone coverage is patchy, but recently completely hopeless in Sandy Bay. At least it works where I work, and it means people can't contact me at home I guess - but I'm not paying for that "privilege".

I cant text to my girl friend she lives other side of the world.i rang them today and told me they don't support my girl friends support people.they are EMTEL,Vodafone should support all networks around the world.one reasons why i bought the phone to text my girlfriend.it would been cheaper.

When joining asked because of business reasons what coverage was like. I was told great in launceston but not in north west coast or Scottsdale area. yeah right! I have to walk around my house just to get coverage and I am near their store! Funny that if i go to the NW I get full covergae though :) also game downloads don't download but still get charged for them and even though have $160 free calls/txt I still get charged for calls and text after $120!

With Vodafone for mobile - delays in receiving voicemail, and picture texts, repeated failure to be able to send picture texts, difficulty with connection, coverage drop out.
Vodafone for internet - was concerned signing up about quality of broadband available in Hobart. Was assured it was great coverage at my location. After a year the best connection status I have had is 'poor', nearly always status is 'very poor', constantly disconnects, have to reattempt multiple times to reconnect and connection we have is far slower than dial up we had years ago.

28 Dec 2010 07:04:24 PM: The only place you can decent data reception in Hobart is at Kingston parked outside the gates of the VF call center.
28 Dec 2010 08:14:37 PM: actually that's crap too. Down the road on Algona there is a MASSIVE black spot with totally ZERO coverage... just around the corner from the call centre. Works fine inside the building I bet!
28 Dec 2010 08:55:33 PM: Before they officially turned 3G on down here you could get it from outside the call center and occasionally from Opossum Bay and it used to be pretty fast. Now it is just terrible.

My mobile drops out inside our home. I have to go to certain spots in the house just to get service. It certainly isn't good enough. My husband joined vodafone and had to wait 2 weeks to connect, then couldn't ring out on it because it wasn't connected properly. Very sad eh.
7149 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Not just Vodafone at 28 Dec 2010 05:42:33 PM
Off topic so will prob be removed...
My Telstra Broadband modem (similar to Vodafones) has suffered reduced performance over the last month or so too. Get speeds between 0kb/s to maybe 300kb/s. Used to have consistantly 1meg upwards. Takes an eternity to load some pages now but not as bad as Vodafones, especially my mobile on 3g, woeful, always use edge. I reckon, at least here in Tasmania, they just dont want to speed on infrastructure, they prob dont care, people keep paying their bills.

7094 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is No problems here at 28 Dec 2010 05:26:00 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 11 years and never had a problem. Sure I have drop outs etc but hey so do friends that are with Telstra, Optus etc. It's funny how people changed from Telstra to Vodafone, is that because Telstra started charging monthly on top of your plan for a handset where as with Vodafone you got your handset for $0 or a small up front fee??? Or is it because Vodafone offer much better plans? Do you think we would have a similar site if the person who started this website was with Telstra or Optus and the problem is not the level of service but perhaps user error???? Battery life, as per the website owners blurb on the front page, is NOT A COVERAGE ISSUE but perhaps misuse of the handset (try reading the phone manual user guide on how best to get the most out of your handset), maybe we should setup an Iphone page or a Nokia page??? On a lighter note you have all provided some much needed entertainment to myself and partner as we have laughed ourselves senseless at this site. Signed a VERY HAPPY VODAFONE CUSTOMER ( and for those who are curious I am not an employee in anyway shape or form of Vodafone)
28 Dec 2010 05:34:00 PM: Regarding battery life... If your mobile has low reception or are far from a cell tower your mobile boosts the power to receive/transmit to keep a reliable signal going. If the signal is not sufficient and the power is boosted battery will drain quicker. Perhaps is Vodafone had a stronger signal our mobiles could work a little more efficiently...
28 Dec 2010 05:35:32 PM: what is the point of coming to vodafail if you dont think vodafone is awful? you are increasing site traffic and actually helping the cause just by visiting! haha, and to think you thought you were being different, thanks for helping out the site
28 Dec 2010 05:40:06 PM: Perhaps if Telstra Optus and any other Telco had better reception our phones would work more efficiently, however at the end of the day it's still a handset issue.
28 Dec 2010 05:42:24 PM: As per my original post, I came for a laugh and thankyou for providing a laugh. Furthermore ALL comments are welcome so I commented, got your attention, so haha thankyou.
28 Dec 2010 05:48:22 PM: Granted that mobiles today drain battery quicker since they have larger screens, faster CPU's etc, still does not change the fact that the network is utter crap at the moment. It was not always this way, i certainly am not imagining the way my mobile performs....
28 Dec 2010 05:49:28 PM: And yes, I have had many laughs too, some hilarious comments but some people do take themselves a little to seriously...
28 Dec 2010 08:20:10 PM: People will probably not do much with this website as less than 1 percent of the customer base has posted here... If they did, they would actually READ the posts and that includes all the positive stuff and nopt base any decisions on.... OMG 1,000,000 ppl have been on vodafail.... we must sue them! seriously, it's a nice thought, keep closing the page and opening it again to 'create traffic'... lol!

Rang to complain about my first bill for my Vodafone Broadband ADSL2+ I/net.
I was told by sales person in call Centre the first month was free ( comversation recorded so they claimed??) but Vodafone have charged me !!! I waited on the phone for 72 mins. before the call was answered only to be told by the employee in the call centre that I should wait 48 hours and check my online bill again to check if it had been corrected. I DID as I was asked and the result ?? No change.. I am not in the mood to ring again and wait another 72 mins . before being answered. I rang today, waited for 14 mins. but all I got was " Vodafone appreciates your call etc. etc. and we will be with you as soon as possible' ????
I hung up !!! No more bloody waiting for me.. The Broadband service does not work most times and when it does it slows to around dial up speed and invariably drops out !!! FRUSTRATING !!! I was told if I can get a mobile phone reception I should get ADSL2+ wireless Broadband... RUBBISH !!!! My mobile phone service also drops out at times. Trying to get a balance from Vodafone's OWN enquiry no. 1512 also frequently comes back with the answer " we apologise but unable to supply this service right now" or words to that effect. Now I am told if I want to cancel the service I will have to pay an early exit fee !!!! Ha !! Ha !! Let them sue me I say !!! I am about to cancel the whole thing... Peter G Hobart Tasmania

28 Dec 2010 07:00:37 PM: ummmmm wireless is not ADLS stupid!
28 Dec 2010 07:30:15 PM: They won't sue, however you will get a black mark against your credit rating for failure to pay your bill as with any company, which in turn will mean that other Telco's will refuse you due to poor credit rating. My suggestion, if your matter is not getting resolved request to speak to a team leader. Also given the time of year, it is likely you may experience high wait times when calling ANY call centre, try Telstra, Centrelink etc they are all the same not to mention today is a public holiday. Getting on your high horse and sticking your head in the sand will not resolve your matter. Another way to get a balance enquiry which at times doesn't always work (just so you know), is to send a blank txt to 1555 or call 1555. No service is 100 percent perfect and if you find one that is please let the rest of us know. Christmas is a busy time of year for all telco's and they ALL experience issues ( network congestion, outages) .... My what did we do before mobile phones and internet????

Have been with vodafone for 7 years & loved them. Over the past 6 months however i haven't been able to send or receive messages, make or receive calls, reception is rarely over 1 bar. So we thought oh well, our phones are 2yrs old now, maybe they are on the way out. We went to Vodafone, got a new phone & signed back up for another 2yrs. Mega fail!! My partner, who has the same phone as me, but is with Optus has brillant reception, we can be in the same room, nect to each other & he will have full or almost full reception & i will have none.

After being told the coverage was good in my area I signed up - you literally have to balance the phone on its side in one area of the house for it to work, if it rains it wont work at all, for busy times like 7pm forget it, had to sign up for a landline as its soooo unreliable. I work in the city and have the same problem there, can only us it in one area of the office.

I moved back to Tassie to work in a hospital - I was berated when I didn't answer my phone for a call in to an emergency. Funnily enough, the phone never rang - and the voicemail arrived over a week later. I moved to Telstra so that I could actually USE my phone - and Vodafone still hit me with a $600 exit fee, despite their admission that their coverage was "poor" in my area.

I thought it was just me... wow... In Hobart we get the same issues, call dropouts, network disappearing when I try to make a call and consistently late sms & voicemail. I transferred to Vodafone over 2 years ago because the staff provided excellent service, and transferred my two daughter's phones soon after. But i worry sometimes if they try to call and have no reception. I thought it was just a Hobart (or Tasmanian) issue with reception. I am astounded it is in the other capital cities as well!

You then take the time to go into the store and ask about the coverage, and they show you on their pc that I'm in the area for coverage. NOT! AND WHY???? WHY would I want to be on the phone for hours to someone who's not even in this country discussing my coverage issues, when they've not even been here, or know of where I"m talking about???? Have no problems whatsoever with Vodafone. Currently sitting at Old Beach with 3 bars 3G reception on my HTC Desire HD. Can receive similar coverage at home (Claremont). A lot of people seem to be complaining about VF just for the sake of complaining IMO.
28 Dec 2010 02:11:23 PM: people aren't making these stories up, you know.
28 Dec 2010 02:22:15 PM: Well i am just over the river from you, at work, and where I am indoors (very little concrete / shielding) there is very little 3g reception, even gsm/edge reception is low. My mobile plus the numerous iPhones have bad reception, mainly data.
28 Dec 2010 04:40:15 PM: I don't doubt people are making the stories up. I have had convos with people saying their reception is bad. Just pointing out that I don't have the issues others seem to have. Guess I'm just one of the lucky ones?
28 Dec 2010 06:23:38 PM: I'm lucky to, my reception is great no issues here!!!! :)
14 Jan 2011 11:50:59 PM: Have to say I live past sorrel sitting in the lounge room 3G 4 bars! However unlike some people I don't have a desperate yearning for a new iPhone 4. I have spoken to people that are using all this hype simply because they are in contract still and there is a new toy on the market. Pathetic really

This is not something I am concerned about as I dont use it but have attempted several times. Thats if a 3g signal is good enough or available to start with.
I have been able to video call from my Vodafone mobile to a Telstra mobile with no problems but can not Video Call my partner who is also with Vodafone (pre-paid however).

Just signed up for a 24 month contract (including handset). The connection process went well, within 2 hours like the shop assistant said, so far so good. On Xmas eve, tried to make a call (vodafone to vodafone), no reception, moved outside, no reception, wandered around the yard, no reception. Assumed phone was glitching, turned phone off, took out battery & sim, waited a minute or so, put it back together. Had 1 bar of reception, tried to make call again, went straight to voicemail, tried again, nothing but silence. Called another person (vodafone to telstra), finally got through, they called the person I originally tried to call and then called me back. At the same time all this was going on, 2 of my friends were on facebook complaining about vodafone as they were having trouble too. My advice would be don't sign up with vodafone until the fix the bugs, it's not worth it.

6245 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is terrible at 28 Dec 2010 09:22:34 AM
Been with Vodafone for 3 years, can't get reception inside my own house, most friends houses around central Hobart also. Also cannot get reception in a lot of places inside the Royal Hobart Hospital or the Launceston General Hospital where a lot of people require good phone reception. They also charge exuberant call rates and fail to respond to complaints. I will certainly not be rejoining them and advising all others not to also.
28 Dec 2010 12:37:07 PM: I thought you were meant to turn your phone off inside a hospital?
28 Dec 2010 04:41:26 PM: What if you work there? I work at the Royal and since my phone does not work in most of the building, I ended up getting a pager as well.
28 Dec 2010 06:26:28 PM: That's unusual, normally if your employer requires you to have a phone they provide it, so one would think they would provide you with a work phone that works !!!!
28 Dec 2010 08:32:16 PM: I have worked (construction projects) at the RHH and always had drummed into me how important it was to have my phone turned off. When I dd have it on I had no dramas in reception, even with Vodafone - only down in the tunnels and in the loading dock/mortuary areas.
6223 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Shocking at 28 Dec 2010 09:09:25 AM
Not more than 8k from the centre of Launceston and there was no service all over the Christmas period. Travel 30k from Launceston and once again no service but this time it is a constant. Should any one be driving through Tasmania thinking they can rely on Vodafone to give them the security they may need in case of a breakdown or even worse the need of an ambulance, they should think again. The coverage just is not there unless you are within a very small distance from a major city. Yes some of the plans available are cheep but to be honest, they are on a whole (if you live in the rural area of Tasmania) a waist of money.
6122 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is 3G coverage woefull at 28 Dec 2010 08:15:32 AM
I have noticed a reduction in reliability of the network since they released 3G in the Hobart area and surrounding suburbs. I work in Glenorchy, very lucky to get a 3g signal (1 to 2 bars at most) and 3g internet pretty much will not work. I live at Oakdowns near Rokeby, 3g pretty much non existent (i can see cell towers (not sure whose) and a clear line of sight to the mountain (if that helps)) but no useful signal on my mobile. I have their wireless broadband modem that will only get max 2 bars reception on 3g but extremely slow data speeds. My mobile is high end (is more than quadband too i think)but for it to operate properly i have to set it to EDGE (reliable and faster data speed than 3g/HSDPA for me). Quite often SMS messages are not sent or received and my partner (on Pre-Paid Vodafone)her messages send multiple times (sometimes send 6 or 7 times!!!) My Telstra wireless Broadband modem work flawlessly most of the time. Will be considering moving to Telstra at end of contract due to terrible service of late (I have been with Vodafone since mid to late 90's).

yeah 2 things here - not only the constant drop outs but on christmas eve when the service went completly bung up - i was in a minor car accident and need to call my spouse but couldn't - very distressing not being able to get help!
and their mobile internet is a SHAM! - i was smart ... i checked the coverage maps before i brought the device and where my house is its definatley in the 3g coverage area casue i have a damn antenna 0.5km away on the hill behind me, you can even see it from my window - but i could barley ever get a 3g signal and if i did it was terribly unreliable making me have to get on their 'EDGE' network wich is slower then dialup speeds - after numerous complaints they said the area i was in was a known black spot even though the advertise it as 3G coverage and pretty much told me id have to go with someone else - so i went with telstra - no problems now!

I tried to check my coverage using your link above and it doesnt work. I receive a message if I continue it may cause damage to my pc. For a "Concerned consumer" you claim to me I would have thought you would test your links are safe to use before putting them here. At least Vodafone accept their service needs improving and are working hard to lift the standard. Perhaps we should know just who is paying for this site... Some ambulance chaser perhaps offering a Class Action. I see Optus has their name at the bottom of this site. Who else ?
28 Dec 2010 08:02:51 AM: Beware of these posts. The Vodafone social networking team have been to adopt normal or dumped down language and cause mischief on these sites.
For the record, it has been stated that this is an independent site.
Who cares anyway when its clear that Vodafone is screwed?
But I would agree with the trouble loading the coverage map ;p
Id assume its because the site is so popular?

Christmas eve - "no service"
I move from one of my house to another and get full strength then "No Service"
Sitting in the attrium in the Theatre Royal (totally glass, right on the footpath, in the CBD!!!!) - NO SERVICE.
Kingston, Blackmans Bay seems to consist of 90% of the area as "deadspots"
Internet is NOT 3G speed, never. 3pm everyday the service is crippled (school kids coming on?) The reception in the CBD varies from full to none all over the place. Inner suburbs in Launceston have no coverage. Voicemails arriving days late. Etc, etc, etc.

Chrsistmas eve I didnt get reception for about 6hrs sitting at home, where I normally get reception. received a video message sent Xmas day at 0520 this morning 28/12/10
5948 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Shockingly bad at 28 Dec 2010 06:51:00 AM
I moved from Sydney to Legana just outside of Launceston in July. I have NO reception where I live. None, zip, zero. It's not like I'm out in the middle of the country either. If I drive up to the Legana shopping centre, I still have no reception, I don't get reception until I am almost in Launceston itself, and then it drops out in a lot of places in Launceston. I am in the middle of a 2 year contract, although I've been with Vodafone for over a decade. They want me to pay $120 for every month since I moved here and in that time I have been able to send and receive a few text messages over the full month whilst in town, and to make a couple of phone calls. When I have rung up to complain it is near impossible to slice through the layers of computerised help to speak to a person, and when I do speak to people, they are of no help, but make "a note in my file" which translates to nothing as the next time I call, there is no information available to the next person about my issues. I cannot use my phone, this is a joke! I am trying to set up a business and I do not have the use of my mobile phone. Now I can't use it at all as I refuse to keep paying huge bills for no service. They can't call me to discuss it, because I have no reception, and they can't reach me. You'd think they'd realise there's a bit of an issue when they can't even ring you to talk to you due to your constant lack of reception. I guess my next step is to go to the Ombudsman. EPIC FAIL Vodafone.
28 Dec 2010 06:05:44 PM: So i am unsure how Voda could now you were going to move somewhere with no coverage when you signed up 12 months before you moved ? A little bit of personal responsability goews a long way, Had you of lost coverage at your Sydney address then i think you would have fair reason to complain, But you move mid contract and expect out ? Also if you know they cant contact you on your mobile logic says you would give them another contact number rather than set them up to fail... ???

Extremely poor reception, Call drop outs, unsent and unreceived text messages on a regular basis. I have given up attempting to contact vodafone. Am extremely angry at this point as just the simple thing of sending a text is unpredictable, and has caused a lot of grief with my family, friends and work due to this. Several months ago I would send a text and either none or 10 were received. The text message issue has only been for several months however the call drop out has been going on for years for me and as I travel to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra regularly this issue has occured everywhere not just in Tasmania. Yep not happy right now.

I've had a Vodafone prepaid mobile broadband for about five months now.
When I was planning to purchase mobile broadband I was advised to buy the Telstra version as the 3g coverage was superior to its competitors. Having had previous problems with the telstra unit I did some research on the Vodafone unit. I was assured by Vodafone that my address was well within the coverage area and as I live upon a hill that the signal would be fine.
However when I purchased the product and hooked it up I found that there was no signal at all. I have had to move my pc all around the house in order to even find a signal. Once i found a good signal Ive had to set my pc up in the kitchen, where the signal is the strongest, however the problem is that the signal drops out every 5 minutes or so.all day everyday. Max connection time is about 5- 15 min. Also with my prepaid mobile broadband deal im supposed to get 50 free sms, however the sms feature has never worked. Ive uninstalled the program numerous times and reinstalled it. All with no change. If I try to send an sms I get an error msg. The prepaid mobile broadband costs me $30 for 2gb and 50 free sms.

I have been with Vodafone for 4 years now and te only reason i stay is because of the cap plan and not changing my phone number. I cant make phone calls in the shopping centro's in Glenorchy, i try to send pictures and they turn up days later, i cant video call half the time to my parents ( it says it doesn't support it but then will work 10 mins later). I cant get proper reception at Brighton and i get NO reception in Collinsvale ( i use to get perfect reception). Hurry up March so i can find another plan!
27 Dec 2010 10:04:33 PM: Guess what? I had the same problem AT THEIR OWN SHOP IN SHOPPING CENTER IN EPPING, VICTORIA! I took the hand set to 3/Vodafone shop and show them, they thought I was joking until they saw it. Even the people could not believe it! The phone was turn off 3 time to reset and still could not find their network. This is really not good enough!
27 Dec 2010 10:07:22 PM: I tried changing my number - from plan to pre paid service within Vodafone. It took three months and I recieved a double bill the whole time. When someone finally took me seriously enough to refund my money they refunded it as credit on the canceled account and then charged me postage for the paper bill even though I had opted for paperless billing. It's easier to get a new number.

I live about 5km from hobart cbd. Reception is so poor that moving one step to the left will give me maybe two bars then another step no bars. When i need to make a phone call i end up doing the Time Warp. I contacted the complaints department which was amazingly hard as Lara, bless her soul, cant make out my yes or no's as my reception was so bad. After getting through to India i was told that vodafone would be sending someone to test the areas signal and i would hear from them within a few working days. weeks later i get a text telling me to ring 1555 to find out more information. I rang this number and could not work out how to get the information. Only 20 months of pain to go.

I have been with Vodafone for quite a few years, I originally transferred from Telstra because at the time it was cheaper (as I could chose free calls unlimited to the person I called the most, I was saving approx $400 per month!!).. But I instantly noticed the reception differances.
It was bearable until recently.. I was in Hobart Mall on Thurs 23rd and I could not make a call at all!! It was searching for reception and even when my phone was telling me I had reception I still could not make a call.
I went into the Vodafone Store in the Mall and asked if they had any network issues to which I was told no, turn my phone off and then back on.. I did this and the problem still persisted for another 3 days!!!
I had no reception for most of the 3 days over Christmas to contact any family to wish them a Merry Christmas or let them know if I was on my way or delayed.. God forbid if something had have happened I would not have been able to contact anyone, and with a 2 1/2yr old son being able to contact people is EXTREMELY important!!!
I will without a doubt be going back to Telstra after my contract ends in September 2011 unless I can find a way out or $700 to pay out the contract... It is bullshit that they can keep you in a contract when they do not uphold their end of the bargain by providing a decent level of reception!!

Signed my son up for Vodafone prepaid... was with them for three months before he switched to Telstra... said he couldn't even make a phone call in the main streets of Hobart... got a maximum of two bars of reception (out of five) no matter where he went... constant drop outs, messages getting "lost" in the system and not sending, or being sent multiple times... he was charged for every time, too!!
Horrible, horrible people... and their latest adverts are ridiculous! In the words of my son: "GO TO HELL, VODAFONE!"

4972 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:52:22 PM
Ive been with Vodafone for nearly 10 years, for some reason the last 18 months the service has been absolutely rubbish. I live 10 mins out of Hobart and my phone is constantly on 1 bar or no service at all. I don't even bother trying to send an MMS anymore, so sick of seeing the exclamation mark that tells me to try again, (what so it's going to send it next time!) My partner had crossed over from Telstra because of the poor contract she was stuck in and the shocking PR. We thought it would be a good chance to have free Vodafone to Vodafone calls but it's proven to be irrelevent because of the network coverage. We had to purchase a pre paid Telstra sim and get the phone unlocked for when we travel anywhere within in the state, just in case of an emergency.
27 Dec 2010 08:14:23 PM: Mate I have the same dramas - I travel around the state for work and have to carry a prepaid Telstra handset with a call divert from my iPhone incase I have to go to the west coast or to Orford, etc. Dodges Ferry I get nothing unless I'm outside the servo, heading to the West Coast I drop out not even 5 mins out of New Norfolk and about the same out of Sorell when I'm going to the East Coast. Your problems with the Botanical Gardens are common with all network providers, unfortunately. Apparently if you have no service you can still make 000 calls - I was told this at a St John first aid course.
I thought it was just me that was having problems because my handsets get knocked about a bit but this website has opened my eyes.

28 Dec 2010 07:45:45 PM: Let me get this straight, because a person states they have never had a problem and are not sure what the fuss is about they are a tosser ( as you so nicely put it) and that there are hundred's/thousands who know exactly what the fuss is about. Only some of those hundreds/thousands have a REAL problem or issue, the others just jump on the band wagon cause they like the sound of their own voice. Just a note, this site is not just for failures but as stated above by the creator it is for ANY comments, show some respect and let people have their say regardless of whether it is positive or negative.
4719 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:00:55 PM
Well, I started the contract with Vodafone when I was still living in Sydney, in January of 2009. I had heard from a family member that the (at that time) new Blackberry Storm phone was the best of the best, so I decided to look into getting one. I went to an outlet at the Bankstown Centro shopping facility, and I got one of the Storm phones, and at the same time opened an account with Vodafone. At the time of my receiving the phone, I asked the individual who was working at the outlet if I would be able to receive signals in all States and Territories of Australia, and he said yes. I asked him if he was positive, and he replied with another enthusiastic "Yes". So, I got the phone, and went on my way. I experienced my first dropped call later that afternoon. One of the main reasons for changing mobile services in the first place was because of dropped calls and low signal reception in various places immediately outside of the Sydney area, from the previous mobile service provider.
I had had the phone for less than one month when I had my first serious problem with it. Because it was under a 30-day replacement warranty, I took it to the outlet where I got it, told the people there that the phone wasn't working, and they told me that they didn't have any more of the particular model in the store at that time. I wasn't in a position to do anything more about it at that time, because I was getting ready to go overseas that next day. I left for my overseas destination the next day, and returned about 30 days later. I immediately returned to the outlet where I had gotten the phone, and was told that they had more of that particular model in the store then, but that the 30-day replacement warranty had expired. So, I asked them what my options were. They said that I could give them the phone, and they would send it out to their repair facility. I did this, and about two weeks later they contacted me and said that the phone was ready to be picked up. I immediately went to the outlet, and they told me that the unit had been replaced with a new one. I had high hopes. Well, this second phone almost immediately dropped calls and had very poor signal reception in numerous parts of the Sydney area, as well as other places in Australia where I took it. Also, it was about three months until this second phone developed a problem that rendered it unusable. I took it to the outlet, where it was the same as before: they said leave it here, we'll send it out, and you should have it back in about two weeks. Well, about three weeks later, I got a phone call from the outlet telling me that the phone was back. Again, I immediately went to the outlet to get the phone. I picked it up, and hadn't even gotten out of the shopping center when the phone dropped its first call. I turned around and walked back to the shop, told them about the problem, and they asked me if the battery was fully charged. I told them it was. They told me that because of the large amount of metal within the shopping center, that the signal strength was usually not very good there, and to take the phone outside the mall and try it again. I did, and the signal strength was better outside the mall. Well, shortly after all this, I moved to Tasmania. I came to Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, and as soon as I arrived in Devonport I tried to use the phone, and I discovered almost no signal strength. I drove around Devonport trying to find a location where I had a better signal, but could find none. I then drove to Burnie, again with no better signal strength. I now refer back to the first part of this writing, where I had been told by the people who initially sold me this phone that it would work equally well in ANY State or Territory of Australia. Needless to say, it hardly worked at all in Tasmania. The only exception to this is that it appeared to work OK in Launceston, which is one of the larger towns in Tasmania.
I took the phone to China, Malaysia, and New Zealand with me on business trips, and it did operate satisfactorily in all three of these countries, as long as I was in large cities in those countries. It appeared that in rural areas, there was almost no signal strength, and this appeared to be the case in all three of the countries mentioned above.
The last thing I have to comment on is that every time I have tried to make a credit card payment on the phone account, the credit card is not accepted by the Vodafone credit card payment system.
I am absolutely NOT happy at all with either the service, the equipment, or the customer service from Vodafone. All in all, a very large disappointment.

- After another 30m wait was told that I had previously quoted the right order number - but there had been a system error and my order was allocated to a different person instead - told to go and sort it out at a Vodafone store...
4. Made my way to vodafone store- to the front of the line - then told to wait because salesperson saw someone they could make a sale with instead of dealing with my problem.(even though I was there first)
5. Finally got some assistance was told again my order had not gone through. Salesperson rang someone on the phone- man on phone said they could give me three months for free if I placed another order with him, or I could place an order in store with salesperson and not get three months for free.. um?!
6. Waited around again for 5 mins while salesperson and man on phone chatted about the weather/ work party before hanging up.
7. Man on phone organised to call me back so I could place the order at 5.30pm that day- NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN!
The most pathetic customer service display I have ever seen and I endured it all for zero outcome. FAIL!
- Received order confirmation by email.
-Did not receive product
-rang to enquire about order ("customer care") - this took 2 attempts:
1. After 30m waiting - was hung up on.
2. Quoted my order number - told they couldn't find my order - told to ring back when I had the right order number! (which I had)

4306 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Hobart at 27 Dec 2010 05:49:50 PM
My problem started a few weeks ago. My broadband coverage keeps playing up and not staying connected. To start with it was very now and then but lately its happening twice to six times daily. Sometimes I need to restart my laptop for it to work again. My net speed and everything else is great. I use to get good co...verage but now its always on poor coverage. What on earth is going on? I am thinking about ending the services once the contract ends.
4244 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is good at 27 Dec 2010 05:40:02 PM
wel all those angry customers should try telstrafail . In short vodafone has not got the best coverage but it has by far the best plans and we are happy with their service and im sure they will improve the coverage in the near future. As im aware optus has recently upgraded their network and is pretty good. YES telstra has best coverage .... BUT you pay a premium price for it. Where else can you get unlimed calls and texts for $45.00? Vodafone offers this and telstra's best deal to match this is $125.00 ...
27 Dec 2010 05:42:50 PM: This must be someone from Vodafone, could have been the top bananas like the CEO?? So stupid and childlike though for its senior management to come to Vodafail to write this, don't you think?
27 Dec 2010 06:00:01 PM: Gotta be a Vodacrap management exec. I'd call them if I could get any service on this Vodacrap fone.
27 Dec 2010 08:35:18 PM: Telstra offers some very competitive cap deals now. They may not be as cheap as vodafone but the Telstra network is uncomparably better, it just goes to show, you get what you pay for.
28 Dec 2010 03:54:39 PM: What a bunch of twisted childish individuals. There are actually happy Vodafone customers(including myself) out there.. Wonder how many of the whingers have a "got to have the latest gadget"iphone?
28 Dec 2010 07:25:13 PM: For the odd occasion I can't use my phone (yes it did suck not to have it on Christmas eve) I really don't care that much about the coverage as it is satisfactory (not great), but it does the job and I pay bugger all for it... I will be staying :-)
28 Dec 2010 07:58:01 PM: Not much point having a cheeper plan if you can't use the phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
28 Dec 2010 08:23:47 PM: They seem to work 95 percent of the time so I am happy!
31 Dec 2010 10:54:25 PM: My Blackberry worked fine even up in the mountains while I was with Telstra. The moment the switch was made to VF (which took about a week until the new card was activated), nadda, zip, zero. Sitting on top of the hill at West Launceston, looking down on the CBD and absolutely NO signal. Telstra aren't cheap (to the point of rippoff and beyond), but at least they work where and when you want...
4017 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is 80 at 27 Dec 2010 05:12:01 PM
Bought 2 pre-paid mobile broadband sticks about a year ago, one for business one for pleasure. Business one in Tassie worked fine till about 2 weeks ago, now has slowed to a crawl, only working randomly.
Other one currently on holiday in WA is/has been working fine.
Is this an east coast thing?

Never get messages until about 4 hours later. Very poor reception. Cannot ring Geilston Bay which is about 5 kms from the Hobart CBD.
3928 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is call drop outs & delayed text msgs at 27 Dec 2010 04:54:58 PM
Calls that are on the VF to VF minutes(free) disconnect. Text messages are delayed in delivery, I recently received a text message sent from Sydney @ 8pm which arrived @ 12.15am which caused alarm for me at that time of night. As a prepaid customer, getting any assistance with "Customer Service" is non existant cannot get anyone on the phone nor any response with emails. I think the reception & service is far worse now since tha amalgamation with 3Network.

28 Dec 2010 09:00:05 AM: LOL
28 Dec 2010 06:47:17 PM: So the real problem is Mcdonalds not Vodafone ( note the spelling of Vodafone) and sorry were the nuggets called or cold??? Surely you have some tomato sauce at home and why not start a website about Mcdonalds, let me start you off, you can call it McFail!!!!!

Christmas morning. No messages on my phone, I walk from my bedroom to the kitchen and my phone beeps about 6 times for messages claiming to have been received over an hour ago. WTF?
3704 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is NONE at 27 Dec 2010 04:32:03 PM
My Mess is that I have been connected to Vodafone for over eight years and have always found the customer service excellent. I do know they have had problems lately with coverage and drop outs in NSW but that is because they are upgrading the network and it always causes problems when new systems are intoduced. My main complaint is with reading winges from people who have problems with their handsets. Telco companies do not make phones they only suppy the network to use the phone on. As for people complaining about hign invoices for using their phone over the limit they are entitled too Well what do you expect
27 Dec 2010 07:10:19 PM: finally someone with some sense of reality !!! this page is ridiculous-i thought it was fine-everyone is entitled to their opinion-until i read every slightly positive post has been tagged as being written by the Vodafone CEO-im sure they would havebetter ways to spend their time.
Ive been with Vodafone for years-in tasmania and never had a problem. I say get agrip people, no telco is perfect. :)

3610 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is what a joke at 27 Dec 2010 04:24:05 PM
Recently joined vodafone after not being satisfied with another provider (who are now part of the same company) phone often doesnt even ring just goes to voicemail, but who am i to expect i would get my voicemail right away too huh.. down to tassie for a month away and does vodafone even have 3g down here...?? what a pathetic excuse for a network not to mention the handset they gave me is FALLING APART literally and overheats like crazy.. ohh and my phone decides on its own what message tone it would like to play...
and when i ask for the cancelation fees to be waived, i have to wait between 9-18 MONTHS for network diagnostic tests to be completed...
Im so over vodafone, i want a way out of this contract, and they want my money, they have more $ behind them so of course im ignored...

28 Dec 2010 07:31:14 PM: Dude get your PHONE fixed, that is not a network problem
28 Dec 2010 07:32:41 PM: You do knoe Vodafone don't actually makes the phones???
28 Dec 2010 09:09:22 PM: It will be the network. Low signals equals high transmit power from the handset hence hot handset and short battery life.
3 Jan 2011 07:21:36 PM: um no a bad battery equals poor battery life & heat
3554 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Total Crap at 27 Dec 2010 04:20:11 PM
My mobile broadband reception is always dropping out and disconnecting, have been having problems for weeks now when I cant connect at all. I wasted over $20 of credit on my phone trying to find out what was going on when I couldn't get online for hours. They couldn't tell me anything. I also had a problem not so long ago where everytime I connected it used around 50 mb in the first minute and I hadn't even gone into any sites yet. This kept happening for around a week and I didn't report it as I knew I would get nowhere and just waste more money trying to contact them.
28 Dec 2010 07:59:35 PM: 1555 is a freecall from your mobile phone, so it should not cost you to contact vodafone for assistance.
3474 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is None at 27 Dec 2010 04:14:16 PM
I have recently (2 months ago) transferred to vodaphone from telstra after having bad reception on my telstra internet stick. My new vodaphone pocket wifi device has worked everywhere I have taken it even in areas that vodaphones map said had no service. I am wondering if this is a stunt put up by telstra as in my experience telstra sucks and does not deliver what they say they will and vodaphone has always been reliable. I live in launceston so I cant vouch for their coverage on the mainland, but it is good here.
3453 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Total crap at 27 Dec 2010 04:12:36 PM
Paid for pre-paid card, put money on it. Told it would work on my property. YAH RIGHT!! TXT works sometimes but forget trying to make a phone call, IT DOESN'T WORK. Waste of money
3416 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is EPIC fail!!!! at 27 Dec 2010 04:09:53 PM
Shit SHIT coverage, EVEN in popular suburbian areas! Even with their wireless usb interest same thing SHIT to no coverage at all!! Receiving messages late. Calls drop out or are very shakey. COMPLETE FAIL and I will NEVER be a customer EVER again!! WASTE OF $$
3255 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Seriously disappointed at 27 Dec 2010 03:46:51 PM
The cap plan was very appealing, as was the 'best mate' deal (nominate one number that is free to call).
However the reception is worse than anyone else on any other carrier. I moved from the bush into Launceston and frankly, the reception was better out in the sticks (and not great there either)! wtf??
Had a vodafone dongle also and the speed was excruciatingly slow, or constantly dropped out.
So disappointed. There's a vodafone shop in town which has been recently revamped - shame the money wasn't put to improving the phones...

I have had a vodaphone contract for about 10 months now and i am unable to get reception at home, at work in the car just about no where apart for the immediate CBD and sometimes even there it doesnt work i have called and called nad either have to wait over 35 minutes to be hung up on or they just plain refuse to do anything and say i signed the contract I have had to get anoterh sim card to use yet i am still inccuring the costs for this contract its very unfair and costing more than i signed up for

Consistant drop outs and can someone tell me why my service coverage drops out not only in THE CENTER OF THE CITY, but also on top of my work! That's three stories up and on top of Sandy Bay. Vodafone you suck!
3191 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 03:39:09 PM
I'm sick to death of mms messages being delivered hours after I send them.. Sometimes not at all. I cannot get reception in my local supermarket or shopping centre. My partner bought an iPhone in melb with voda and could not get any reception at all.
3065 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:42 PM
I have only recently signed up for voda 2+ months ago and am already regretting every minute i have been with this excuse for a phone company, I have LOS to the one of only 3 thats right 3 towers where i live in launceston tas , and have only been able to make about 3 successful phone calls in this entire time and dont even get me started on data i swear i could get faster speeds using some carrier pidgons with notes attached, the other night the entire network turned to shit no signal for about 4 hours, so fed up calls to customer service cant even get through. yeah voda great cap plan if i could bloody even get on the phone to use the calls etc. VODA=FAIL
