Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

10291 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Desperately bad at 4 Jan 2011 12:09:18 PM
Vodafone/3 network coverage map says that my new home is in an area with a full service. I'm lucky if I get to use the internet for 10 mins. My mobile phone drops out almost as regularly. I have just been to see the people in the shop and the assistant who dealt with me was super supportive and really fought on my behalf. As opposed to their technical help who told me that I needed a new pc operating system! I'm prepared to keep my mobile but I would like to have an internet connection. They have refused to cancel my 2 year contract which is only 10 months elapsed. Now I have to go through the hoops of switching to Vodafone to prove that that doesn't work, spend more money on monthly fees and getting more and more frustrated that I have no internet. Why can't they see that if I were getting a decent service, I wouldn't be in there complaining in the first place.

10265 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is makes me wanna change carriers at 4 Jan 2011 10:59:05 AM
there is so many problems with vodafone! Firstly the reception. My mum has the crappiest phone ever and I have a nice touch phone and she gets better reception than me. Even in high reception areas my bar is on zero and i cannot make any calls or any texts. The staff never want to help when i go into any vodafone store, one time they just gave me a brochure and sent me on my way. My phone pooped itself while I was paying insurance, yet they insisted that insurance does not cover it, even though it wasnt myself. Was gunna charge me 200 dollars to fix the phone, so i went and bought a new one from elsewhere instead. I was on hold for an hour the other day waiting for someone to get me off hold.

Also, I have been missing calls from work due to my alarm stuffing up and the sound on my phone stuffing up, or the lack of reception! I am not happy with vodafone at all!! As soon as my contract runs out, I am switching to Telstra.
4 Jan 2011 11:05:29 AM: Why wait for your contract to terminate? Contact the TIO, details can be found on the tab 'How To Complain' at the top of the page.

10249 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is maximum fail at 4 Jan 2011 10:03:14 AM
I am 18 months into my 24 month contract, and it has been problems from day one.

I was supplied with a phone that had already been used - there were text messages saved onto the phone and the phone did not work properly, it was clearly a demo phone. After days of speaking to vodafone, and getting nowhere I went to the TIO. Only then did my issues become important enough to be resolved and my phone replace.

I have had terrible signal since the begining, my phone drops out calls constantly, I cannot connect to the internet, I have people telling me they call me but my phone does not work - This happened as recently as christmas 2010! I also have mobile broadband with vodafone - waste of time all it does is drop out constantly!
your right..vodafone is a massive fail. Impossible to get out of their contracts - as soon as mine is up I am connecting to another provider.

10247 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Effecting communication to the sick and needy at 4 Jan 2011 09:51:48 AM
My far better half is very unwell in hospital, this morning I have tried to contact the good lady several times, only to be told by Lara 'The mobile service you have called is currently unavailable'on a constant loop.

I have contacted the ward and spoken to their staff who have assured me my ladies phone is on and fully charged.

Disgraceful and shame on you Vodafone, your inefficiency is now preventing communication to the sick.........and reading through these entries I am not alone!!

10241 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 4 Jan 2011 09:35:42 AM
I have been with Vodafone for a year now. When I first got my iPhone with them in January last year it had screen issues, so I took it back to them and they sent it away telling me it will take 6-8 wks, and they had no replacement phones so I borrowed a friends and almost 6 wks later after I had contacted them to see what was going on, they informed me that the phone was at the shop waiting (thanks for letting me know). Oh and the upside I go in and pick up the 'new' phone only to realise they have given me back my old one which is still not working. So I took it back and they said they would send it back and I would get the new one this time, however this was all too hard as the shop assistant said it would take two wks and I went back exactly two wks later to see if my phone had arrived to be told by another assistant that the phone had never been sent off and the paperwork not processed, so I had to do it all again. Finally 10 days later I receive the new phone. Coverage is always pretty poor with vodafone.. but the phone is not the only problem.. I also unfortunately purchased broadband with vodafone, and WOW is what I have to say, as I was a F/T student an F/T worker for all of last year, so I needed the internet (considering my Grad Dip was soley ONLINE) mainly from 5-10pm at night and on weekends, however I either never had any service or if I did it would take approx 20min to download one page if not longer. I just didnt have the time to waste, so I relied heavily on using the internet at work and also a friend's, as I complained to vodafone numerous times to both the customer service centre and instore and they said they could do nothing, yay for me huh!!! Also my complaints were about the USB which would not register quite frequently, so that coupled with the fact that I for the most part could never access the internet, and never at the times I needed to (so PEAK times) meant that I was and still am paying for a service to which I do not receive. The last time I complained to the customer service was in November as I had taken the day off from work to study and of course my internet wouldnt even work during so called non-peak time, and the operator said that his supervisor had authorised for me to receive free of charge a wireless modem to assist internet activity, he told me I would receive it in 10 business days, funny that I needed it that day and the fact that my studies ended on Nov 12 so yeah kind of a bit too late, but I accepted it anyway..and I am still waiting for it. Oh and I just got internet back on my laptop, as when it would say no device I would uninstall and reinstall the program and it would work typically so I could access the internet on an infitiseminal scale every so often, but the last time I did it which was early Nov whilst on the phone to the vodafone operator, it would not register the device at all..and the guy said it is a problem with my laptop, well I disagree as the usb and internet very rarely work, so I consider that a problem with the service and usb itself. I finally got the device to register on Jan 2 this year so that was 2mths of paying for a service I did not receive and myself having to actually fix the problem caused by their device. Great Customer Satisfaction vodafone does not have, nor are they concerned with satisfying customers sufficiently, and we are not all naive to think that other TELCOs do not have problems, because we all know they do, however I have not encountered one until vodafone that had no regard whatsover for trying to provide a service adequately at minimum to its customers. Vodafone needs a more customer focussed approach wherein customer satsifaction is a priority!!

10228 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very bad at 4 Jan 2011 09:06:11 AM
I have had my phone replaced due to bad reception that has been costing me thousands of dollars in missed client appointments....the new phone did exactly the same thing so when i went into vodaphone the woman who runs the office said it was the networks problem then and if i was trying to use the phone inside then it would not work because vodaphone does not work inside....????? Ok no worries i will set up my office in the middle of a park then ..?? wonder if they use that in their advertising campaign????

10226 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is bad reception at 4 Jan 2011 09:02:07 AM
I am in a city but get drop outs and times that can last for hours with no reception. I also find they often send texts more than once that im billed for when i asked about them crediting for this they said ok but only for me i said not good enough should be all people that it effects not just the ones with the time to call (took 40 mins to get any where with them). I hung up as i was getting very stressed with them.

10225 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is horrible at 4 Jan 2011 08:59:48 AM
I know my case isn't as bad as anyone elses, but my phone will say i have full reception and when I go to send a text message it can't send. This has never happened before. More often than not the phones reception will fluctuate wildly from full reception to no reception.

10220 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is MONUMENTAL at 4 Jan 2011 08:55:55 AM
I phoned Vodafone on 3/12/10 to change my direct debit account details, as I have commenced maternity leave ( ihave a newborn bub), and the account will now be paid by my husband via DD from his account.
On 31/12/10 we noticed that Vodafone had taken my Dec bill amount ($72.29) from my OLD account - which I cancelled as previously stated. On the same day they DD my husbands account for $275.63!!!!
I know EXACTLY what Vodafone has done:
When I phoned on the 3/12/10 to change my DD account details, the Vodafone call centre staff has updated this info to SOMEONE ELSES ACCOUNT. This is WHY my Dec 2010 bill has been DD from my OLD account - Then my NEW account details have been used to pay SOMEONE ELSES ACCOUNT! UNBELIEVABLE!

Since I identified this problem 3 days ago...I have contacted Vodafone via phone: 7 times- without any resolution, as the call centre staff couldn't understand my problem. Attempts to fax information as requested by a "supervisor": 9 times unsuccessfully. I have now also had 4 x txt msgs, 1 x voicemail (the line kept dropping out) and have submitted my complaint 2 x via online form on Vodafone website to "billing" & "legal", and have also emailed it to a "supervisor" from @3globalservices.com??
Words cannot describe how angry I am at this situation...I have been a loyal customer since 1996. I wonder how many weeks this will take to be resolved? What about overdrawing our account? leaving us with no money over the NY weekend/pub hol? Yep nice work!
Vodafone = A FAIL OF EPIC PROPORTIONS

p.s. have notified banks of "unauthorised direct debits"

4 Jan 2011 01:38:06 PM: hahaha how shit is Vodafone, seriously. Everyone contact the TIO, get out of your contract, go to Optus and Telstra and leave Vodafone to close its doors. Bye bye with your shit service Vodafail.

10218 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely Fail at 4 Jan 2011 08:41:54 AM
I signed up with vodafone only 3 months ago and ever since then I have had nothing but trouble. Extremely slow internet/no internet, one bar of coverage at my house! (I live in a city and have NEVER had only one bar at home), my calls drop out, my call fails, text messages and pictures messages always fail, I recieve friends messages and picture messages FOUR DAYS later... the list goes on.
The worst part is I have only just signed up and i'm stuck in this contract for at least another year and a half. How is it fair to be paying $90 a month and not getting the service i signed up for?

10206 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Non coverage at 4 Jan 2011 07:59:48 AM
Because of unbelivable poor coverage or drop outs, it is becomong increasingly difficult to work at home anymore. I have not got a land line(who does these days)but have to eother now go into the ofice to make calls or gop outside, where it sometimes works. It is adisgrace. I have GPS and have been on trip driving through NSW and to Victoria and back, and I used to LOL witha friend about when I could get a call through. The problem is, is that it seems to be getting a lot worse. If I could get out of the vontarct today and swap to Optus or Telstra I would do immediately. But this always seems too hard to do

Lack of reception, lack of 3g speeds, texts not recieving until I have to restart the phone and then they will come through, cant call out/in until I restart the phone. MMS taking ages to send/come through. I want to leave to another service due to the complete useless service I currently am getting. I have been with vodafone for as long as I can remember and they are just getting worse and worse. WTF? My cap is over in August, CANT WAIT!
3 Jan 2011 10:34:38 PM: Why wait til August?? ---- Check out the 'How To Complain' tab at the top of the page...The TIO will no doubt be able to assist you out of your contract. Good luck and let us know what actions you are going to take!

10167 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME at 3 Jan 2011 07:51:42 PM
I have been with Vodafone for quite some years now and particuarly in the last year their services have failed me numerously. I have the new iphone 4, and like most people, I have limited to no internet service around the home and on the road, along with extreme delays in downloads, constant drop outs and most times call connections dont even go thru, and if they do, its only after the 4th attempt at calling. I am a young girl that has to spend many hours driving on the highway up to north queensland every couple of weeks, and it scares me to think if I were to break down I would be stranded in middle of nowhere, my phone alot of times doesnt receive calls or send calls, it just goes straight to voicemail without even ringing and doesnt send messages, so to me I have no assurance that I am safe. Also the main issue I have is the constant messages I receive from Vodafone saying that my calls have been blocked and that I need to call customer service to update my address details. Once I called, they had no explicable reason for cutting my phone off, and stated that all bills had been paid on time and they really didnt undsertand and ASSURED it would never happen again. Needless to say this happened every week for around 2 months. And Im sure everyone understands that having their calls blocked for no apparant reason, then having to wait on-hold before finally speaking to someone who most times in barely understandable or calls dropping out in the process of being half way thru conversation to them after all that time of being on hold..it takes around about an hour each time to come back online after THEY stuffed up. This makes it impossible to conduct business or personal matters. Now they have unexplicably blocked my online account and cant explain why they have done that either. So to pay the bill, I must sit on the phone, get halfway thru, then it flicks up "call failed". There is no wonder that Vodafone has left a bad taste in the mouths of almost every person using them!! It has cost us all time and money!

I have 2 year contract and have had the phone now (apple) for 10 months. during that time I have had service approximately 5 % of the time for calls and 2% for data. I often cannot even send TXT messages and sometimes have to try up to 10 times in central business districts.
I drive to work on the main highway between the gold coast and brisbnae and have no service for 99% of the trip. I have a new Iphone courtesy of Apple and a new sim card ( due to 10 days with absoultely NO service at all) .Numerous emails to the complaints dept online have resulted in no response . I don't know what to do . fortunately I am not a big phone user but my frustration levels are increasing and I can see no end in sight

10138 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is shit at 3 Jan 2011 04:30:40 PM
vodafone would not honour my phone insurance policy unless i could prove that i requested insurance when i took out the plan. after i found a document to prove it they charged me a massive price to 'backpay' the insurance account. after this, they advised that there was a $200 excess on the insurance, which was more than the handset was now worth. i have recently signed up on a new 2 year contract with vodafone and it has now been 3 weeks since they started to charge me for the new plan, but i still haven't received my new handset. i called them today, was on hold for about an hour and transferred to 4 different indians who barely spoke english, before i was told that a consignment and order number diddn't match - so they didn't send the phone.. the last indian i spoke to said it would be here within the next 5 business days... i won't hold my breath
3 Jan 2011 04:44:41 PM: well no company would jsut take your word for it LOL and its funny how you never complained when you didnt pay for it, only when you wanted to make a claim. Why is is fair you should never pay for insurance but still make a claim? Now who is a fail?
3 Jan 2011 07:44:09 PM: The insurance is actually provided by Marsh Insurance, not Vodafone, so your blaming them is misguided.
3 Jan 2011 08:36:28 PM: Free insurance!love it!

The only reason why i left vodafone and switched to optus in the first place was because of the reception. Someone was saying for ages they would improve the phone reception by putting up more towers but they never did. Its been over 3 years now and it's still shit reception coming from friends who are with vodafone. Stop saying your gonna do something about it....and actually do it!!!!

10116 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is HUGE FAIL at 3 Jan 2011 02:46:47 PM
Vodafone's website and billing process is dreadful. I'm nearly at the point where I will quite happily break a contract and pay them out to change back to a mobile provider that means I don't have to spend 30 mins of my time accessing a bill online....also, credit card surcharge for automatic payment when it is SO HARD to access your bill = huge fail. Poor e-commerce such as that provided by VodaHEE is pushing me back to wanting to receive bills in the post again...Telstra here we come

10099 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is getting a new phone at 3 Jan 2011 12:50:01 PM
I went in to vodafone to get a new nokia n8, I had a photo of an x6 nokia. The girls did not show my the phone in displays. I told them my nieghbour had the nokia N8. They signed me up with the x6. I have had ploblems with the sim card spot on side of phone, ie: it did not stay flushed against phone, so I took it back, they said there was no fault with it, I asked to change the phone to the n8 as the contract was the same as the x6 plus $5 handset, well thats when everything fell apart. The girls sent me home to ring customer care, I got hung up on 4 times. Then got this lady who said that I can go back and get the n8 & $5 handset no problems. The girls at store said no. Rang up customer care, they said no, we then asked to be put onto this lady who said that I could do a swap but they said there is 4,000 of us working here, in other words bad luck. I ended up so irate to this guy who kept saying we won't do anything for you. I left feeling that angry I was shaking and felt sick to my stomach. I finally got a call from this lady who said I could swap, saying the phone was much more than the x6 in price and would I pay for half, Which I was offering to do with this moron I was talking to in the morning. Well at this stage I am looking at full purchase of the N8 at $699 & this lady is going to credit me $200 to my account. Hello how is that paying half the price. Any idiot would know half of $699 is $349.50. So it continues!!!!
3 Jan 2011 03:37:09 PM: Why did you get a X6? It didn't click with you that the box had X6 all over it and no mention of N8? You can purchase a N8 outright for less than $599 and it will work on any network.

My Iphone has packed up after only 7mths with Vodafone. Cannot get a replacement. I constantly could not get a signal, don't get picture messages, etc. They are absolutely useless. Have tried calling Vodafone but hold on for 20mins - 1hr & then get cut off. I have a 24mth contract with them & am thinking of cancelling it. Can someone tell if they know of anyone that has cancelled a contract & what were the consequences?
3 Jan 2011 02:19:40 PM: they make you pay out the cancelation fee which is the amount of the plan you are on times the amount of months left is what i was told by vodafone coustmer hotline service
7 Jan 2011 09:32:25 PM: apparently with iphones that stuff up within their first 12 months can be returned straight to apple for a replacement, one of my friends even had cracked her screen and took it in paid $@50 and got brand new handset

10092 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL! at 3 Jan 2011 12:38:22 PM
Ok so, used the call back option & they called back, spent the next hour & 5 min on the phone of which half I was on hold for. Got transferred to 4 diff departments for each problem I am having

1) No internet reception from internet mobile stick at home or at work (I live IN TOWN) - Solution - Apparently the coverage at my unit is good (it is non existant - I lie - I do get to see one internet page every 10 mins- WOHO) So they have "escalated" the problem and I get to hear back with-in 72 hours.

2) Emergency calls only at home from Cell Phone - Solution - put my sim in another persons mobile and if it doent have the same problem then I may get a replacement handset - last time I checked every other cell provider stocks "Samsung" phones, hmmmmmm do you really think it is the brand new handsets fault?!?!

3) I am unable to contact Vodafone Via the Free 1555 from my VODAFONE handset and havent been able to after telling them twice in the last 6 months of my new contract - Solution - Escalated problem will call me back with-in 72 hours.

4) Seen as I have had to ring the 1300 from my mobile due to not being able to ring the 1555 free number I would like the amount of credit I have had to use calling them due to their fualt of not loading the 1555 number on my phone - I presume - All credited back to me. Solution - HUNG UP ON!!!!

*Waits grumpy but patiently for results*
3 Jan 2011 12:43:06 PM: I just got off the phone to them (3 hours in total) issue has been upgraded to Networks to look into it so I can then talk to contracts to get it cancelled. Two departments and they tried to put me off to the iphone people for a chat cause it wouldn't connect to the internet in 3G (which is the basis of my complaint... no 3G network)... no I too wait the 72 hours for their investigation.
3 Jan 2011 02:23:07 PM: im having the same problem and am told to wait 72 hrs for an investigaton as well how does vodafone think they are going to get that many workers out to these suburbs for each person in 72hrs they most likey wont and just look at the coverage on the net
4 Jan 2011 12:42:23 AM: I live in Brisbane city and im having my internet connection cut out every half an hour or so....sometimes even more. I will be calling to complain tomorrow during business hours. Id go back to 3 anyday. Ive only had the service for 2 days and im already complaining!

I am living in a suburb no further away than 25 mins from the heart of Brisbane. All my friends with Optus or Telstra have reception, I do not. I am NOT in a hole, a valley, surrounded by units.....I am just another customer who has limited reception. I have travelled the highway and get reception in small country places, but not in a Brisbane suburb. ABSURD !!! I have missed important phonecalls as a result. It doesn't matter where I stand, my backyard, frontyard, driveway...a BIG FAT NOTHIN' ! You suck Voda***** !

Renewed my contract, convinced to take out insurance, told if I lost/damaged phone in first 6 months that I would have to pay excess of $300 after six months there would be no excess. Broke screen 16 months into 24 month contract still have to pay over $250, very nice store person tried everything to get my phone replaced as I can early upgrade at no extra cost in February. However no joy... so frustrating now I have no phone to use!
3 Jan 2011 11:50:59 AM: breach of agreement...they owe you a new phone
4 Jan 2011 04:38:20 PM: Is it a breach of agreement? Did you get this agreement in writing because I used to work for Vodafone and have never heard of such an agreement. I've also never heard of an insurance claim with any company that didn't charge an excess.

I was with Vodaphone for some time on both pre-paid and plan. In 2008 in the month of March I was on vacation in the Philippines. Before I left I organised my Vodaphone to be put on roaming by a Vodaphone representative, She was certain that and assured me my phone was now on roaming. So I embarked on my five week vacation to the Philippines. When I arrived I noticed my phone was not on roaming and I could not use it. Five days into my holiday I had an accident at a waterfall in which I sustained a badly fractured right ulnar and radius. These injuries required me to undergo surgery and being hospitalised for three days. Because my phone was not on roaming I could not contact my insurance company and the phone system in the hospital could not make phone calls outside there region. Because I was not able to contact my insurance company I had to pay in full for my surgery and hospital fees. This left me with no money for the rest of my holiday. It was lucky my injuries were not more serious because I could not even contact my family in Australia. You can not imagine how frustrating this was not to be able to contact your loved ones when you are about to go into surgery. When I returned to Australia I informed Vodaphone of what had happened and they were apologetic however refused to compensate me in anyway. I asked them to investigate this and was not informed in any way about an outcome of an investigation. I will never use Vodaphone again and I will always share my experience with people who are thinking of attaining a plan for a mobile phone.
3 Jan 2011 03:55:24 PM: Tip 1: if you arrive overseas and your fone is that important to you, buy a local prepaid sim
Tip 2:If you go to a third world country, take out the apropriate insurance, so if you do require surgery, you can be flown back to Australia
25 Nov 2011 05:24:15 PM: When someone tells me they are going overseas i say to them get a local sim so they don't get roaming charges and you get a local mobile phone number and the same with 3g umts modems and if you take a umts modem from australia you get charged aprox $15.00 per mb and i have herd of phone accounts running into the thousand of dollars with data on phone and modems and that is why get a local sim

A friend and myself were out in Milton just before the new year both on brand new iPhone 4's. He is on vodafone I on telstra. We both had full bars of 3G reception and we both tested our internet service going to the same website. NOT surprisingly his vodafone service failed to download anything whilst mine went on happily and hastily. I've never been a vodafone customer but im glad I'm not and I do feel for the subscribers having all these issues. GG VF

As a 17 year old I jumped at the chance to get the latest mobile, and the only company that allowed me to sign up for a contract was Vodafail. Furthermore to being exploited by being put on a plan twice the cost of the one I was actually after, I was blacklisted by Vodaphone over an amount of money THAT ENDED UP BEING CREDITED BACK TO MY ACCOUNT. To cut a long story short, I called to change my billing address and cancel my contract after it was up. The contract was not cancelled and the address was not updated, leaving me to believe I had no outstanding charges on my account. Well shock and horror, eventually the mail was forwarded to my new address twelve months after they had began sending warnings of being blacklisted over $20.45. It was too late when I realised. I called to dispute the charges and received a refund cheque to the same value - $20.45. However, after repeated attempts at resolving this, the credit default remains on my account to this day, and without the option of receiving a bank loan, I have had to take out several high interest loans for my car and business, leaving me with weekly backbreaking budgets and thousands and thousands of dollars down the drain! thanks vodafone!
3 Jan 2011 07:06:22 AM: Get onto the ombudsman asap
4 Jan 2011 04:43:28 PM: I don't see how this is possible. Vodafone uses a system called siebel. In this system if a customers date of birth is less than 18 years then you are unable to proceed with a contract as you legally need to be 18 to sign a contract.

Well if the reception hasn't dropped instantly at random times and my texts don't send or receive on time, I now see the standard Vodafone text rate is now going up to 29c and not 25c like it used to be. This sounds like Telstra in red to me. And if there's any value for the monthly pre-paid.. (yes it's prepaid, you can get more with plans, etc), then why can't the $29 Flexi-Cap allow $300 credit like Optus and not $150 like Vodafone gives us?
And finally, sometimes I send a text and the receiving end will get it on an average 10 - 15 times... of the same message.
That is all.

I am on a 2 year contract with vodafail and have 6 months left for completion. At first I did not know that it was vodaphone that was responsible for the issues I was having, I thought that it was my iphone. I went into a vodaphone store and was treated very poorly. At first they changed my sim and said that was the problem. I left the store, went to make a phone call and it did exactly the same thing as before, disconnected me after about 5 seconds. I went back in and told them it hasn't worked. They suggested I see Apple as it's my phone. After more discussions (mostly me asking to talk to the Manager), they put me on the phone to Lara, in which I waited 45 minutes without getting through. I had to pick my son up so I handed the phone over to one of the staff members who said that she would wait on for me and that she would give them my sons no to call me on, as no one could get through to my no. That happened 6 weeks ago and I am still waiting for a call from Vodaphone. As I do not have a home phone my mobile is the only way I can be contacted. The main issues I have is constant dropping out, my phone constantly tells others trying to call me that my no is disconnected. I quite often cannot get through and if I am lucky enough to do so, I only get to talk to them for 2 seconds and they are gone. I have had to buy a prepaid phone (even though I am in a contract for my iphone with vodafail), just to make sure that I am covered as I am a single mother.

services what bloody services....I travel a lot, I was using wireless broadband with Vodafone. I have sat on a roof of a house to get 2 bars just out of Bowen, this was the last time I used my account. Enough is enough at that point I have not paid any more on my account. Tried to use it at queens park in Mackay. This is in the CBD of Mackay. still not one bar. When I am in south east Queensland. At blacksoil, I have to drive 10mins down the hyway. Sit on the side of the road to get 3 bars. If i drive more than 3 mins from most CBD's it's not worth trying to use the net at all.if your east or west by 6min's out side of Ipswich, save the stress and give up. It well not happen. I lose out on my time money ect. The stress of having to use such a lousy services. Makes me look incompetent. This has done my business no good or my self esteem any good. I have in the pass tried to work with Vodafone. to work this out. But get the ok cheek every time. Nothing has fixed it. No I well not pay my contract out with them. To use the services has put my life in to danger, trying to get a few bars to send out jobs and emails. I am not happy JAN

Contacted Vodaphone and complained about poor coverage = we only hve access if we go outside the house to the end of the garden! They asked me to follow some of their instructions by phone - in the end suggested that maybe the wireless modem was not functioning properly = went to the local vodaphone shop and purchased another - absolutly no difference! Last phone call to vodaphone - they offered us 3 free months for internet (we alos have 2 mobile phones which are average for coverage, at best). Have tried to call back to get the 3 free months but do noyt have the patience to sit on the line for another 45 minutes.
Surely if you get lousy coverage you should be able to cancel your plan without penalty! Can't wait for the end of the plan in 11 months.
2 Jan 2011 01:15:46 PM: completely agree - i am in Townsville - largest city north of brisbane - live in the centre and can see the communications tower! I am locked into a 12 month contract with vodafone for mobile broad band at $39 for 6GB. This would be all good if for starters I could get internet where I live. As soon as you go into my suburb you drop out it is ridiculous. On top of that I constantly have to pay a minimum of $150 because they never tell you when you are about to go over your limit. Also I drop out of signal every 5 minutes or so. Vodafone is ridiculous.
4 Jan 2011 04:50:48 PM: Take some personal responsibilty. If I had to pay $150 for only just one month because of going over my limit then I would make sure I know my balance always by checking the usage limit software that comes with the stick AND by using myvodafone aswell.

I have been with vodafone for 4 months now and i hate it! For starters the mobile internet stick has no reception in or outside my unit which is right in town in Coolangatta, nor does it have any decent coverage at work unless i sit outside the shop - the shop is on the main St of Coolangatta. The stick itself has always had issues being recognised by my brand new netbook. When taking my laptop and stick into vodafone i was told they could not look at it in store and i needed to call the contact centre - hat!!??? The contact centre is in Malaysia or india and i just cant clearly understand them. So now i have a a contract of 2 years for which i cant use the internet stick at home or work and I cant find help at any vodafone store if I need it, just a call centre that is too hard to understand - I am 28 so I cant imagine how an elderly person would cope trying to understand the call centre people!

P.S I have written this blurb on my partners mobile internet Stick which is Virgin and works perfectly fine at our unit.

1 Jan 2011 08:54:57 PM: P.S.S I recently took a trip inland with my inlaws from NZ, my phone cut out all coverage the whole trip, their NZ phone which I beleive runs through telstra had coverage the whole way!

My issue with vodafone is with regard to a prepaid service. I would send a message, it would tell me it failed, so I would send it again. This would happen often. Often the intended recipient would never get a message from me at all, but more often than that they would receive the same message from me up to 7 times. Even when I only sent it once. I can never be contacted, people are always telling me when they ring me it goes straight to voicemail. When I call my sisters who are both vodafone subscribers, it goes straight to their voicemail as well.

I have had no issues with vodafone and their service up until the last two months. It was driving me batty! I wonder how many dollars of credit I wasted resending messages that never made it. I HATE that I cannot be contacted via phone call.

I cannot rely solely on text, as they too are unreliable and are never delivered as they are sent. Hours later I've received text messages. It's ridiculous.

FIX IT.

1 Jan 2011 08:09:36 PM: I agree, they're often cheaper.. I like my prepaid deals with them.. and I've had no worries with them in the past, until the last two months.
The network coverage has been awful. It's unreliable, and therefore unacceptable! ...

On phone for a total of nine hours - went into the Vodaphone store - they called VF because they apparently cannot disconnect in store - and we were on hold there for 45 minutes and the Vf people in store gave up. I filled out seven online forms - no response. I have been trying to disconnect from Vf for the past four months. And now, to add injury to insult, I cannot only not disconnect but went to (begrudgingly) pay my bill today and it can't do that on-line and says I have to phone 1555 to do it !!! Un-bloody-likely

Yep, Im just one of the many and just spent most of my new years day on the home phone to a customer service person in India repersenting Vodafone after not getting anywhere with a overcharged account, I asked for a manager 2 hours and 10 minutes later I have been given a credit for the over charged account and told that in two weeks Vodafone will have the best service in australia!!! interesting. I have no reception at my home, I travel from west of Noosa to Maroochydore on a daily bases and only have reception for no more then 10% of the trip, when I do get a call it normally will drop out before the end of the conversation. I have been a Vodafone customer for more then 12 years now and after being extremly loylal I have had enough, the phone I have under contract (Nokia N97) turns itself off, freezes, tells me I have no memormy left and will not operate currectly, I have no less the 3 times reported problems with the handset to Vodafone Noosaville (Civic centre) only to be told that the handset is now out of warrenty by 2 days and it's basicly my problem. The Vodafone computer system has no detail of my last 2 reported issues with the phone (who's not doing there job!!!)so I now sit here writing this after being on hold 6 times over 4 hours and 17 minutes waiting for a return call as the last 2 calls where from the wrong department? it has now been a futher 14 min and still no reply but the last person did tell me they can offer a $10 discount for the remainder of my contract and free Vodafone to Vodafone calls "WOW" that's going to help someone who struggles to get reception.
I was told that network connection can come out to my area and check the signal strength and if it's not up to scratch mt contract can be terminated, thats if they ever get back to me??? its now 4.25pm I made my call to them at 11.59am good to see there fixing things. The first person to read this will be the only person to realy listen, sadly.

Very poor reception in our dwelling at Monash Plc Ferny Grove, Brisbane Qld. I was at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Broadbeach, Gold Coast on Boxing Day and had no reception, however my Daughter on Optus, had no problems. I took up with Vodafone Staff member (F) at the Centre and was asvised that because there were 2000 pepple at the shopping centre, the tower could not cope. Constant problems with getting Balance from Vodafone. To call 1555 you wait for half hour or more, listening to terrible music, then unable to understand the Vodafone (off shore) employee.

9789 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Service at 1 Jan 2011 02:56:01 PM
I moved from Toowong to Nundah and have noticed that the coverage in my new residence varies from poor to no coverage at all. Outside the house is marginally better. At the time I was self employeed and the mobile number was my contacts with my clients. After contacting Vodafone this solution was suggested to me, buy and used a bluetooth headset with the mobile phone placed in a locations where it would be be able to make and receive call.
This was a brand new Blackberry Storm and email was important to me as well.
I recall that on next occasion that I reported this reception problem and I was told that a technician would survey the area. This is on file. I have since called again to voice my fustration again. The result was acknoledgement of a problem. I explained my situation again and in particular the fact that I was not getting the service that I was paying for each month.
The customer service operator without any hesitation offered to reduce my monthly plan from approx $109 to approx $65, with no fees for changing plans while on contract.

I now am out of my contract and have reduced my plan to $45.
I have been a customer with Vodafone for many many years, does loyality count for nothing? Why should I continue to put up with this?

No coverage area's exist, don't pretend that they don't, I live in one.

My only alternative is to switch carriers if I want my phone to work at home.
But what good will that do.

I did not sign up for this shit. Bad Customer Service and extremely poor reception. Why am i paying again??

I have been with vodafone for 14 years and also have noticed the service/reception sliding in the last few years. I have family on vodafone network interstate and it's cheaper for us to use our mobiles to talk, BUT WE CAN'T! My dad tried to call me about 3 times on Christmas morning, with constant drop outs, or going straight to my voicemail as there was ZERO service. I have just moved house and thought (rather hoped) that the service may improve being in a higher area, but I am still as disappointed as ever. I have been told that I can switch to a new carrier without having to pay exit costs as vodafone admit to rubbish service. I have emailed vodafone to find out what I can do. I am completely fed up with them and the lack of service. :-(
1 Jan 2011 02:33:02 PM: yeah, nobody wants to talk on christmas day on the mobile. Same thing happened to me at midnight on new years... couldnt get through because of the MILLIONS of people wanting to get through as well...

You call and they need to transfer you to the network team or iPhone team. I have replaced my sim and restored my phone a couple of times!! They are still telling me it is not the network. Very poor reception. 1 to 2 bars most of the time, while in the house. so calls drop out 90% of the time. Receiving messages hours later or not at all.SO FRUSTRATING. Sick of running around the house or yard to get a better signal.According to Vodafone coverage maps, we should be getting great reception. Who are they trying to kid. NOT HAPPY

1 Jan 2011 12:55:36 PM: I know how you feel. The vodafone map says all of sydney is covered but I can't make a call in the CBD! Check out the map on this website under 'Your Coverage', it shows reception as reported by us.

Have used Vodafone for several years, and have been reasonably satisfied. The last few months have been dreadful - the service has definitely worsened. The number of drop out calls has escalated considerably for me and there are a lot of uncovered areas, making calls etc non-existent. Trying to hold a conversation of any length is next to impossible. Not sure if any of the other providers are any better - but am getting close to investigating a change as the drop out calls are costing too much. Even when you contact another VF customer. Very frustrating.

I got into a contract just over 2 years ago with a new Nokia, insurance, data, the whole bit. They then suckered me in with a change of phone number that I couldn't change, which was important as it was the number I had had for about 10 years. The phone coverage up here in Queensland is very hit and miss and the data speed is pretty pathetic. I then tried making an insurance claim on my phone, which was damaged accidentally at work, but I couldn't get the online form to accept my claim and I couldn't get anyone on the phone to speak to about it - let alone the ridiculous excess they expect you to pay. I still can't get good phone reception in my new house (its in the middle of town on a hill). Lara is a joke... I now refuse to speak to it if I have to call Vodafone. But I'm stuck as the other two major networks are just as bad - if not worse.

9702 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC Reception Fail at 1 Jan 2011 07:50:10 AM
My phone forever struggles to send and receieve messages. Some days I'll send a message and all my signal bars drop to none and the message will sit in my outbox without ever sending. When receiving messages, some are received the next day, and I can have full signal strength and I receive a message saying I have a voicemail message because the call never came through.

When making calls, I usually have to sit in my front driveway because my back patio has the most dropouts, and even at this point I can experience two to three dropouts per phone call where you're stuck talking to yourself while there is a complete silence over the phone and you hear the drop out beeps. You totally lose the conversation as you ring your friend back up and say "Sorry, we got disconnected again..."

As for their mobile broadband. Well I haven't used their mobile broadband for almost 22 months. I originally signed up on a 24 month contract on the promise that they were changing over to the 3G network which experienced many delays and when it did switch over found out they were still crap and slow. When I complained I was told I'd have to pay the contract in full if I cancelled it, so I thought I'd just pay the minimum over the next 2 years and not renew it, and in the meantime, I use Telstra broadband.

'So over it'

Very poor mobile reception, even in the city centre! Calls drop out, reception ranges from four bars of 3G then drops out to EDGE. Cannot use browser, no service. Vodafone advice is to remove battery and start again - very unhelpful as it doesn't work. Delayed reception of SMS messages. Most frustrating is variation in reception - what works fine one minute, drops out the next. How do I get out of this mess?

My wife and I both have mobile phones with vodafone and we are lucky to get 1 bar of service if we go outside or leave our phone against a window which is very poor as we live on the Gold Coast so we done the usual thing went to the vodafone store which told us to go home and ring this vodafone number to check the signal strength which after 25 min on the phone the girl on the other end (having a strong Indian accent) said there is no coverage in your area my reply was well how am I making this call to you then,so after that pointless call I looked up vodafones service map and yes it shows that we should have good service in our area vodafone should be ashamed of themselves very pissed off.

Ok so I was a vodafone customer for nearly 10 years, in march I decided to upgrade to an iPhone, my calls suddenly started dropping out, I couldn't call anyone and no one could call me. I was due to have my first baby and was 2 weeks overdue, I couldn't call anyone!! I went through so much crap in 8 months where no one knew how to fix the problem, no one knew what was going on and no one was willing to help. Every time i rang about my issue it sounded like they were reading from a script and no one could give me a straight answer. I got 3 bills
Waived and they said it was an apple issue.. I had my phone replaced
3 times and there was no way it was my phone. I couldn't use my data and u couldn't make calls. I finally got in touch with the telecommunications ombudsman and 2 weeks later I was let out of my contract free of charge and have now signed up with optus.. They are fantastic, not once have I had an issue and they're service is great! My mum is also now changing over due to the problems she's also having with vodafone! If anyone knows of a way to get reimbursed for the period I aS on my contract I'd love to know! I had the issue as soon as I upgraded!!!

We are experencing the same problems that a lot of people have mentioned. Phone dropouts, delayed voice messages, lack of coverage. We were told the coverage would be as good as Telstra within a couple of months. We are running a business and for the last two years have put up with this lack of service. I am not sure how many customers we have lost due to the lack of service. We will be going back to Telstra in a couple of weeks and hope not too have the same problems.

Called customer support on a phone they have in stock (when I ordered online and still on the website as in stock). Was on two calls with them, one at 1h 50m and the other over two hours. During the second call, the support person lied to me multiple times saying it's on it's way. Would not however provide a delivering tracking number, their name or any details. Finally told me it's out of stock.
I've received the phone two months later, and only because I formally complained. Now I wished I seen this site and just declined the delivery; and switch provider.

I have been with vodafone since May 09, the consultant from Chermside Shopping Centre told me that the service was better than any of the other providers but sadly they are mistaken. I am constantly switch the phone from 3G to 2G to get any good reception, in an urban area, such as brisbane(4017), it is constantly ghosting , dropping out. I have rung vodafone on many occasions, and they tell me I am in reception area and shouldn't have any problems, the best way over christmas, when I was talking with an operator and he was telling that ever thing was Ok but he kept repeating, "are you still their, I can't hear you", what does that tell you, I can't believe that it is happening in Australia,Shame, shame, shame
31 Dec 2010 06:23:52 PM: Australia is so far behind the rest of the world. Let's hope the NBN improves things. I'm so over it.
