Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

been on vodafail for over 3 years. i'm a small business owner and the constant issue of poor reception, poor internet performance and terrible customer service is a joke! i'm constantly getting voicemail messages up too 5 days after they were made, obviously this costs the business money, not to mention the effect on my customers! as i type i have lost the ability to make and recieve calls for some reason, i'm located in the Cairns CBD, a city with over 100,000 people! Something needs to be done about Vodafone's inability to cater to the market and back up the promises they make in their contracts!!!
8119 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very Little Reception at 29 Dec 2010 08:45:14 AM
I signed up to their Infinite plan 8 days ago - after checking coverage maps, buying a sim and trying it out in handsets in and around my house to really check the coverage available (as maps have a tendency to lie) - I have had great difficulty with reception. I am lucky to have 1 bar of service, sometimes goes to 2 (for 5 minutes maybe). The service does not change if I switch off 3G on my iPhone 4. I often switch between the Edge network and no reception. Shopping in Brisbane I had no reception, my phone dropped out and said "Searching" for over an hour, before I went to a Vodafone store to swap SIM cards (I was told this would rectify the problem and it hasn't).
I can send a text message, though it takes multiple attemtps for it to go through, without getting the big red ! next to it. PXT are a hassel to send, as these often fail as well. My calls frequently drop out as soon as they connect and when I have received a phone call, the person on the other end, cannot hear me, nor I them.
What can I do? This was not the service that I had signed up for when I decided to go with Vodafone.

A friend of mine sent me a text on the 24th and I received it last night at 11:00pm almost 5 days after the text. The 3G coverage on this network is woeful. I can hardly get onto the app store on my iphone and to even search google takes forever (if it connects to the internet at all). I switched from Virgin at the end of my contract for my previous iPhone as vodafone were more competitive. I realised from the day I switched what a mistake it was. It's the worst reception ever.

My partner and I have been with Vodafone since April 10. Ever since then we have had problems.. the problem is that it is only getting worse. Obviously we have the normal complaints...calls dropping out, sms taking up to a day to go through, can not connect to the internet etc etc. What I hate the most is that I have to try and call someone up to ten times before it gets through. Also, for my partner to get any messages out on his work site he needs to prank the home phone so that they can come through.

8099 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 99% fail at 29 Dec 2010 08:34:10 AM
I have been with vodafail since the analogue days 17 years, way back then 'vodafail' always blamed the 'phone' that was the problem. Now we have the digital era, they still say it's the type of phone. Except this time i got the top of the range phone guaranteed not to drop out. What a crock of poo.All they ALL are a money making company that doesn't give a flying f*"@ about it's customers. Why stay with them you ask...sometimes it's better the devil you know. The others are just as bad, like 'mysoul'.

8082 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Unaustralian fail at 29 Dec 2010 08:22:06 AM
I have two mobiles through Vodafone, one for myself and one for my partner. Both of us are continiously pulling our hair out at the absolute lack of reception that is available through their service. It is not unusual for us to receive text msg many hours later after they have been originally sent. Voice mail services aren't much better either....but here is what really gets to me. I am an Australian Defence Force member about to be deployed overseas for a period of 8 months....and in preperation for that, I contacted Vodafone to request a suspension of my phone for the period that I am away as I would not be using the service. Let me point out that i merely wanted to SUSPEND my service not cancel it, so when I returned from active duty, i would recommence my mobile telephone service. I was told that the maximum amount of time they would suspend my service was three months and that i would have to pay out the remainder of my plan if I wanted it for longer. Tell me this, we as Australians support this company by signing up with them and paying our bills on the due date month in month out, but when i comes to providing support to us, it is simply too much to ask. I am 100% behind this website and what it stands for and it couldn't be put simpler...VodaFAIL!
8076 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Multiple issues at 29 Dec 2010 08:20:03 AM
A number of issues - when I forst changed over to Vodafone I was unable to receive picture messages. I emailed Vodafone and they told me to ring a number from a phone other then my Vodafone mobile - it's the only phone I have - ridiculous! Took several weeks to have the problem sorted. I was charged 4 times for sending ONE picture message. At 45cents per message it's not super expensive but it adds up. My husband has had Vodafone since March 2010 and he was finally able to receive picture messgaes a week ago (20 Dec). Only took them 9 months!!!! I often get messages a day or two after they were sent. Can't say I've have probs with coverage which is good at least as it seems many people do.
8071 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible Coverage at 29 Dec 2010 08:17:17 AM
I live in a northern beaches suburb of Cairns. My coverage is next to useless. I have to walk around the house to find a signal and then it will drop out. I recently drove right across Australia from Adelaide to Cairns and found that coverage was useless in most places unless you were right in the centre of a major town like Alice Springs, otherwise forget it. I travel with a prepaid Telstra backup phone just in case. I don't even bother now to take my phone with me when I travel in regional areas and I pay a lot for an unlimited iPhone plan. I feel ripped off. I have complained to Vodafone about coverage and they gave me the same spin...we have coverage in 99.53% of Australia. That is an outright lie - they are not accepting the reality that their coverage is next to useless anywhere you go in Australia. When I see Cairns people signing up in Vodafone shops I feel like running in there and warning them "DON'T SIGN UP... ALL YOU GET IS PAIN!"
8070 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Abusers of the dissabled and poor at 29 Dec 2010 08:16:46 AM
Vodafone refuse to abide by the Taxation Laws of Australia reguarding GST itemised tax invoices for alleged debts over AUD$75.00.
They tried to force us to move to a higher plan (mobile broadband) more expensive of course. We have screen dumps showing that we have not used anywhere near the capacity for charges of $650.00 for a less than $40.00 4 week agreement. They threten us with legal action and have stated their intention to ruin our good credit rating.
Do not use this company, they abuse the disabled and try to rob from the poor.
BTW:When I use Safari for windows to view this site all I get is a message and a counter clock.

I pay the highest cap per month and get nothing back. Where I live and where I work (two separate places on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland) both have no reception. There is no point me owning an iPhone when I cant even use it due to the lack of reception. Vodafone also lack any decent service whatsoever and you can never talk to anyone when calling for any type of service. As soon as my contract is complete, I'm going straight to Telstra!!!
THEY ARE COMPLETELY USELESS AND I PAY WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR NOTHING!!!

8055 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is coverage ?? what coverage !!! at 29 Dec 2010 08:03:52 AM
I have been with Vodafone since obtaining my first mobile phone (nearly 20 years ago ! ouch!). Upon relocating to BRISBANE 10 years ago - yes the QLD capital where you would think we would have coverage - I have none & I'm located within 10kms of the CBD.
I have asked several staff at Vodafone why the issue in this area and the latest staff member asked "what type of roof do I have" !!!! Apparently the type of roof I have affects the coverage in my house. Not sure why that would then affect the service OUTSIDE the house !!
I would love to upgrade my phone to an iphone but can't really see the point when we don't get coverage.
I've had numerous other issues during my time with Vodafone - don't get me started...

8046 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is The Worst at 29 Dec 2010 07:58:57 AM
Had numerous connection problems in my area. For the wife to be able to send or receive a text, and for her phone to even ring inside the house had to turn off 3G. Used to have wireless internet with them, got rid of it never worked. Had a problem with a handset, sent it away only to be told that it got water inside it. Phone was never dropped or exposed to water. Live in a tropical environment, i.e. high humidity, cause corrosion on an extenal connection. This is apparently classed as water ingress to phone. Warranty voided on the phone. Still have over 12 months to go on contract so had to stick with it as it would cost too much to get out of the contract. Was offered a handset upgrade for a reduced amount. This deal was sent out by the marketing department of Vodafone. I could either go into the store or ring a number to be able to take them up on this offer. Tried to go to the store, they were unable to do the upgrade and was told to ring the number on the offer. Rang them they didn't even know about the offer and said they couldn't do it. After ringing them again a few more times, finally got onto a guy that looked at the list issued from the marketing department which had my number on it so I was able to then get the deal. Did the order then waited 2 weeks for the new phone to arrive. It didn't. Rang them again and the order had apparently failed, they didn't think to notify me of this at all. Rang to sort it out and was told that it was sorted. Waitied another 2 weeks. still no phone. Rang them again to find out that the order had failed again. Finally spoke to someone and had that ordered cancelled and was told to go into the store pick get on from there. After 3 more days waiting for the order to cancel, managed to get a new phone, after almost 5 weeks fo trying to sort it out, really neede a functioning phone. 1 week after having the new phone received a handset in the mail. Rang them yet again and they couldn't work out what had happened let alone understand what the problem was. They send me a reply paid envelope to return the handset. Didn't even receive the envelope and received a bill to get charged the full amount for the extra unwanted handset. Extra handest was sent back to them UNOPENED. So I am about to ring Vodafail yet again to try to get this sorted before they direct debit my bill.

I have used Vodafone as a business phone now for just on 2 years as they had the best business plan.In this time I have experienced numerous dropouts daily in the middle of Gold Coast, Brisbane, right up the east coast of Qld, when i go out west to work I have to take a Telstra pre paid so I can get work sent to me. When complaining to Vodafone all they do is say we have to do an investigation which they have already done at least 4 of & low & behold they have no record of them. I have also experienced drop outs in Sydney CBD as well as Melbourne Airport & Dandenong.

I live 10 minutes from the the centre of Cairns. Yet everytime I make or take a call at home, (ground flr unit block)I have to race outside trying not to break my neck at the same time and stand outside usually in my underwear to speak to anyone. I'm sure all near by tenants and the caravan park behind us all the inner workings of my day 2 day business. It also rains a lot in Cairns so I find myself cursing Vodaphone on a daily basis. If I didn't just print a 1000 business cards I would ditch Vodaphone at the first opportunity, I'm seriously considering throwing the business cards in the bin!

29 Dec 2010 09:49:39 AM: You can port the phone to another service provider and keep the number. Then you wouldnt have to worry about the business card cost, you could still use them. Ask any other service provider and they can give you the details.

Ive come from NZ and live in QLD Australia now, but when i was in NZ the vodafone service wasnt that great, call dropping, service was useless and they said the 3G network was lightening fast internet, well it was prob fast comparing it to dial up internet.
I thought after moving to Australia the vodafone service would be much better but it is same here, its very frustrating having calls dropped, and when you surf the net on the 3G network it is so slow you cant do much, i was told when i signed up my contract on vodafone here in Aussie that it was a better service to NZ, well i cant see any change. Feel ripped off because im stuck on my plan for another year. So yeah vodafone is a BIG FAIL to me.

I ordered an iPhone on line and received TWO iPhones. Of course I was billed for both! It took 4 phone calls just to reach some call center in India and the woman had NO IDEA what she was talking about. Then I made further calls after being on hold for 30 minutes most times, and finally got someone to acknowledge a problem. They first asked ME why I received two phones!!!!!!!!! They assured me that they will cancel the second phone and I returned it. Then after one further month I received a bill for BOTH again!! More phone calls and more waiting. Now I am assured that I will be billed for the correct amount. Let's see. I want out of this contract.

I live in South Qld and at 11 pm last night (28th Dec) received a text and photo that was sent from Townsville at around lunchtime on 24th Dec. A few hours earlier I had received one that was sent from Melbourne on Christmas Day (25th) at about 10.00 am. I have been with Vodafone for many years and signed up for a further 2 years as we were travelling after I was told that their coverage would see that we were contactable in all but a VERY small area of our route. We subsequently discovered that we had no service in a wide area of north western Victoria and over the border into NSW. We could not even get service in many areas up the east coast of Queensland where we were told we'd be fully covered. We had to locate public telephones to let our family know where we were so that they would know we were safe.
8000 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is theft at 29 Dec 2010 07:01:07 AM
I am not a vodafone customer (thankfully) but found four unauthorised withdrawals by vodafone against my credit card. After 45 minutes with call centre staff in India who continued to try to blame me for giving out my credit card number to strangers, I was transferred me four times to other staff and was told variously: that if i took my bank statement to any vodafone store i would receive an immediate refund; that the next person i was being directed to would make an immediate refund; that (by the next person) it was impossible for anyone to authorise a refund; that the help desk had no contact with vodafone in Australia and had no way of contacting them or getting a message to them; and that vodafone's fraud department would deal with the matter but I could not be given the fraud departments number, because even the staff didn't have it, but i would be copied in on an email to the fraud department.
Vodafone, your help desk staff function only to wear customers down until they give up. Thankfully the Commonwealth Banks' Australian helpdesk had the matter resolved (from my end) in hours.
Vodafone you are a thief, a cheat and liar.

I live in Townsville, my fiancee (we are both with Vodafone unfortunately) is in Coolum Beach and I regularly work in Airlee Beach (all in Queensland).
The drop outs to getting 'no Service'in Townsville is frequent depending where in my building you are or what suburb you are in at the time.
Airlee Beach is a major 'No Service' area. In the hotel room no service, outside under a tin veranda-no service. Outside in the full sun 1 - 2 bars & then you turn around & the signal drops out.
Coolum Beach is a major drop out, no service area. At my fiancees house no service exept for a corner of the bedroom & i mean the corner (0.5 mtr square). When you stand at the back of the yard good signal. Walking around Coolum Beach it ranges from no service to good signal & back again.
I just feel i spend a lot of time and wasting lots of money trying to ring.
HOWEVER, my workphone is with Telstra 3G. It works in all areas. My fiancees son is with Telstra 3G and on many occasions i call him & get my fiancee to go to an area that has reception.
I have complained to Vodafone recently (last week) & also complained to TCO. Vodafone emailed a series of questions to which i have responded.
Vodafone are not providing the service that I am paying for. Vodafone are no honoring there contractual obligation to provide a reliable service.
I want to be able to 'opt out' and transfer to a provider that can provide a service that i can rely upon at no penalty.
If i break the contract i am penalised financially. I they breach the contract by not providing the service that the sold to me I have to put up with it..Why is this?
Pick your game up Vodafone..Allow me to go to a provider that can supply a good service.
My previous providers for my personal phone (Telstra & Virgin) i had no major issues. Vodafone is another story all together - there is no reliable service..
Thanks for allowing me to voice my pain.

7975 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 3g internet at 29 Dec 2010 06:16:52 AM
The 3g internet service through vodaphone is pathetic, it's so slow, i'd complain it's my iphone, but i see others on optus and telstra and it's quick to respond.
to be clear the internet connection is actually very quick. but it's very laggy.
*Browsing (internet)to a new site, which takes just 10 seconds on my computer can take close to a minute.
*Checking gmail via the email client is dreadfully slow.
*When a game is ad supported i'm sitting waiting forever, while the app struggles to download a non animated picture as an ad.
*Attempting to browse the app store. it take forever for a page to open. (really this is just the same as browsing the net.
the signal is usally quite poor too, but even with strong signal its slow.
infact i notice sometimes when i'm on the edge network rather than 3g, the pages load faster.
Samuel.

My son and I were with Vodafone prepaid, we would get cut off when we could actually make a call and then when he moved to Drayton in Toowoomba he got no reception at all. When we would call vodafone the customer service was very bad, they didnt care about us at all. My son and I went to Optus,it wasnt much better and we are back to Telstra( not that Telstra customer service is good in any way at all either but at least we get coverage) A word of advice to AYONE...DONT BUT A VODAFONE,they all stuff up and if you take it back to the Vodafone shop they wont give a refund, this happedned to me and i had to fight them to get a refund on the dodgey phone that kept freezing up.
7956 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is sucks at 29 Dec 2010 05:48:11 AM
Signed up in APR 2009 because i was shown a map that demonstrates coverage whilst I am at work. Was told if I didn't get coverage to ring Vodafone and they will cancel contract. A week later I was on the phone to customer service. I was transferred between 5 different people all of which had English as their second language. The first lady said, I have coverage as the map says so. I said I was calling on a landline as right now my mobile has no service. To which I was told that is impossible. I got put onto the next lady who said service would improve. To which I replied I was told if it doesn't work now, I can cancel and get a refund. I got sent to another lady who was supposed to do the refund who told me the map shows coverage so "no refund" when I complained that I had already been through this with another support person she then forwarded me finally to someone who would cancel my contract but she didn't know how to, so I was put through to someone finally who did know only to be told their computer system was down and to ring back later. I said when will it be up, she said to ring in a few days time. 2.5 hours of my life wasted. Suffice to say I didn't want to go through the pain of ringing customer service again so I stayed on the contract. Dropouts, delayed texts, no coverage, people trying to ring me and unable to get through.Voicemail fail, 3G internet is useless, so much for Google Maps.. the otherday I had to goto a place i have never been in ipswich and the vodafone dropped out on google maps and I was lost for 40 minutes, Ive had it all and enough.. I should of stayed with telstra and will be going back as soon as i can

I was sold a mobile phone and plan that would give me access to mobile facilities in Bali. At the time of the sale there was no connection facilities for Vodaphone in Bali. They knew it and still vouched me of their network facilties. I was naive and believed their sales talk. When I returned to Australia and complained, I was passed from one sales person to another and fobbed off. Will never deal with Vodaphone again.

7946 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Reception, Unable to Send Email at 29 Dec 2010 05:20:07 AM
I have had significant reception problems with calls dropping out randomly and it is still impossible to send an email on the vodaphone service. It has not been possible to send emails on the service for over 6 months. I was told by a Vodaphone representative that Vodpahone is well aware of this problem but continue to sell plans which include email without any informing customers of this problem. Customer service is not trained to resolve problems ... they simply apologise but take no responsiblity for misleading consumers such as myself into signing up contracts even though they are unable to provide the full service. I have spent many hours on the phone with no real resolve yet have to pay the monthly service fee.
7939 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 04:57:39 AM
Signed up for TWO contracts with Vodafone in November. As and as part of a promotion we were to recieve a free pocket wifi
- We were advised that the phones would be delivered the following Wednesday. Nothing arrived, when contacted, wodafone told us they would arrive on Friday. No phones arrived.
10 working days later and still no phones. Contacted customer service, after being on hold for 40 minutes was told that no order had even been processed due to an error in the system. It took another phone call before this issue was resolved.
- Received the phones, however the pocket wifi was not provided, instead a usb internet.
- Made a number of phone calls, but gave up each time after waiting on hold for between 30 and 90 minutes.
- Finally able to speak with someone, requested that the pocket wifi promised be provide.
- Asked that our numbers from our previous carrier be ported across. Were told it would take over night to process. The following day one of the numbers was successfully ported. The other phone was not ported, however the number was no longer available on my previous carrier.
- Attempted to call. Porting issue and the pocket wifi issue were resolved after speaking to someone.
- Realised that the blackberry pack which I had signed up for, had not been provided. Called vodafone. Was told by customer service staff that the Blackberry team dealt with the issue and I was transferred. After being on hold for over 40 minutes, I hung up
- I called again the next day and spoke to a staff member in blackberry team, who told me that the sales team were the ones who needed to resolve the issue, and transferred me. After being on hold for over 30 minutes, spoke to the sales team, who indicated that customer service needed to resolve the problem and transferred me! After being on hold, spoke to customer service who wanted to transfer me to blackberry team.
= The call dropped out during this conversation. Called back, waited on hold, I became somewhat annoyed. Customer service person said that when the call dropped out, I recieved a phone call back, but didn't answer. This was not true. I recieved a message stating that a phone call had been attempted, but I believe none had ever been made.
Being annoyed, but still polite, I informed the staff member of my various issue and my frustrations with contant passing of the buck between sales, customer service and black berry. Told the staff member that I understood that this was not his fault, however he needed to provide a resolution for me, as my patience had been tested and I was ready to log a complaint with the TIO.
The staff member stated that he was unable to resolve the issue, and that I needed to contact the sales team. He provided me with 1 gig of vodafone data to use while I waited for the issue to be resolved.
I was told he would speak to sales and resolve the problem and that I would be contacted. I provided a landline number to contact me on.
No body contacted me.
- Logged a TIO complaint three days ago. Heard about the class action yesterday
- Recceived a bill which charged incorrectly for the cost of the contracts. Also, I charged for blackberry pack which still hasn't been provided.

7921 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Vodafail at 29 Dec 2010 02:59:26 AM
Let's begin with just over 12 months ago. Relocated to Sydney for 3 months for work, so decided to purchase a wireless USB modem and internet SIM for use where I moved in - a 1 minute drive from the city in Woolloomooloo. Sure enough, when I went to set this up to use for the first time, not a BAR of reception. The device appeared to work okay, but the network coverage was non-existent. Returning the stick to Vodafone proved hardly effective, the amount of prepaid internet could not be refunded, but they would refund me for the stick. What about the time wasted in the first place? And my frustration at not being able to use the service?
For 2 years I have used Vodafone through my employer's Blackberry business plan.. the past 12 months in particular I have seen ramped up call dropouts, no internet service, constant lack of any service at all and 'SOS' state service.. I am sure those of us who purchase mobile handsets and in particular smartphones want full functionality all the time and wherever we go.. otherwise we would simply use landlines or home internet as needed. The fact we pay extortionate amounts monthly in any case to access a service we want to but in most cases CANNOT access on the fly is appalling. Vodafone should survey its Blackberry users to see how many would mind waiting until the end of a busy day transferring from meeting to meeting until they get home before they can answer emails or get into contact with their key client stakeholders.
I have seen it mentioned below, but we cannot forget Australian airports!!!!! I frequently fly between Sydney and Brisbane - both terminals have a Vodafone store housed within. Brisbane's Vodafone network access at both domestic and international airports is nowhere to be found... and Sydney's service is ridiculously intermittent and unreliable. I needn't begin describing what a pain it is to disembark from an airplane and fail at many attempts to get into contact with a family member or friend who is picking you up... I have had the embarrassing hassle of having to ask to borrow another waiting member of the public's phone (which I will note was a Telstra user) to contact my waiting lift.
I am well and truly over this appalling service, and wish that Vodafone could reimburse its customers for failing to deliver over and over again - and what I anticipate will continue to occur for years to come, until their supposed improvements occur!

I manage to find a place that will give me a bar or two of signal, but if I move an inch to either my left or right, the call immediately drops out, then I have to run around the place with my phone up in the air looking for another spot that gets signal!

I am with 3 mobile and since it has gone to Vodafone (and therefore using there reception) I find that my phone now has very poor reception in areas that I used to have no problem with when 3 mobile used to use Telstra as it's roaming network.
When we went to the 3 mobile/Vodafone shop at Chermside they told us that they had too many customers which was affecting reception and drop out rates!! We just laughed at them and left.
When my plan is finished I will ensure that I help them lose some customers!

29 Dec 2010 12:30:31 AM: 3 and Voda uses different towers. 3 still uses Telstra towers to roam. Dont assume things you dont know about
29 Dec 2010 12:36:06 AM: Oh whinge whinge. Go back to seek.com.au Vodafone employee.
29 Dec 2010 12:43:50 AM: How's it a whinge? The fact is that the agreement between 3 and Telstra still exists and that 3 customers can still roam on Telstra's network. The network infrastructure that Vodafone and 3 uses are completely separate from each other. Consequently, Vodafone users cannot roam across to the 3 network.
29 Dec 2010 12:50:00 AM: "don't assume things you don't know".....
You sound rather defensive to me!
Fact is, it doesn't matter which way you slice it, Vodafone are Vodafailing.

29 Dec 2010 01:09:52 AM: ^ The only one who defensive is you. Just admit you were mistaken. Its a well known fact that 3 and vodafone uses different towers. They're still two separate networks. Maybe do some research so you dont look like an idiot. :)
29 Dec 2010 01:14:32 AM: Who cares. Vodafone is failing. They bought 3. Now 3 are failing. The CEO has admitted issues. Did you see his blog?
29 Dec 2010 01:17:38 AM: Changing the topic? Vodafone didn't "buy" Three. It was a joint venture between both Hutchison (who runs 3) and Vodafone. The ownership is split 50-50. The CEO has only admitted issues on the Vodafone network - Three customers are unaffected.
29 Dec 2010 01:20:31 AM: Thank you for that valuable information.

29 Dec 2010 01:25:53 AM: Ok so you are clearly a Voda or affiliate employee. By contract, you are in breach of HR policy making any public comment without the express permission of your PR team. Goodbye :)
29 Dec 2010 09:55:10 AM: While all the above is true - note it is also a fact that most of the Voda staff of previous years have left. It is now pretty much run by 90 percent of Hutch staff. Processes, service, marketing all these things have changed significantly. The GM's and CEO are pretty much all Hutch. Ans since all this happened Voda has gone to the dogs. I have many many good friends who work there and have done so for more than 10years. No-One is happy with how things are, I have been advised to port out cause they dont know when the fix will be in place. Even if you are cranky about it or defensive about it - look at the facts. Poor service, poor coverage and even worse accountability. After 15 yrs, I am off to Telstra. At least you can call people.
29 Dec 2010 11:09:57 AM: I am with Three and have been for years and cannot complain, used to be with Telstra until Three bought out capped calls, years and years ago.

I live in the Sandgate area in Brisbane. We have been told that the signal we get for both wireless internet and mobile phones if good for our area. RIGHT. Basically, phone drops calls, continually reconnecting call. Text messages are set and dont get received until a minimum of 30 minutes to 48 hours after sent (48 hours was most extreme case I have had). I can usually get through ot the call centres (where ever they are located these days) and do speak to someone but predominately get fobbed off with lame BS excuses as to what I am experiencing or told that it can't physically happen on the network. RIGHT, you arent using it. MY wife uses an IPhone 3GS between Greenslopes and Sandgate on VODAFONE and get the worst coverage with continual drop outs and data lose.
Once out of contract I will most likely be moving unless there is a massive improvement VODAFONE.

7870 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible 3G & Messaging, Poor Local Vodafone Shop Service at 28 Dec 2010 11:09:22 PM
I live in Ipswich Sth East QLD and have been disappointed in Vodafone ever since i resigned August last year. I live about 1 klm from the CBD and have the signal drop from 5 bars to no service constantly during the day. I also get sms ranging from 30 mins to 24 hrs late, not good if you are in Business Vodafone.
Apart from the lengthy delays on the phone to customer service. Its had enough to understand the Mumbai consultants who promise you a callback, but it never happens, its even harder to take the empty promises of "it will be fixed in 24 hrs, but never is"
Another thing that bugs me is the Local Vodafone Shop at Riverlink, Ipswich. I don't think i have ever come across a ruder bunch of so called "consultants" in my life.Ask simple questions and they pass you off to call customer service on you phone(i thought that is what i went to the shop for, customer servive, what a joke). My last visit i was ignored for almost 20 mins before actually being served, preferring to serve people who just walked in the door. When i finally got served i asked them how much it would cost to be released from my contract (a simple enough question)but they could not tell me, again saying to ring "Customer Service".
Obviously it is more important to sign up new contracts constantly then to actually look after your existing customer database.
Why is Vodafone spending millions buying Crazy Johns and the 3 network, TV and Airtime during the cricket, when the existing network is where they should be spending the money and get it up to scratch.
I hope they relise that one happy customer can create another 10 customers thru referrals, just imagine what 10,0000 unhappy customers could do for a corporations referral base.
Pick up your act Vodafone otherwise acquiring Crazy Johns and 3 network may not have been the best place to invest you money.

However one day it was cut off whilst only still early into my plan. When I contacted them telling them I had the money to pay, and I had paid, they said they would not connect it. I told them to go to hell and they said I was still under contract and would have to pay. Excuse me but if I was not getting a service I will not pay. My bill now is over $4000 dollars and my credit rating well is not worth writing about Debt collectors harrassed me but I told them it would be like getting blood out of a stone. They can take me to court I would love them too. Sue them and use me, I would like 40000 for the stress the caused me and my family, I cannot get a credit card because I missed one bill. I moved across from Optus, live in Brisbane city 4000 post code, service is shit, 3G is slow, can't even use internet on my mobile. So much for my new Vodafone exclusive HTC Desire HD. Misrepresentation and Vodafone's non-disclosure on how bad their network really is. Misleading to customers and they need to be sued. Class action, I think so!

We live & operate a business on the Sunshine Coast in Qld and have three 24 month phone contracts with Vodafone (unfortunately), two business and one personal. When we took out the contracts 14 months ago we were assured that the reception in our area was excellent & widespread.....famous last words. The reception in both our home & business is completely unacceptable and if we do manage to fluke reception the drop out rate is extreme. There is only one area in our office where we get reception if we're lucky. The majority of our business calls have to be conducted outside and around a corner, simply unacceptable, and as a formality at the beginning of each call we inform our clients of the likelihood of the call dropping out and assure them if this does happen, we haven't hung up on them.
Text messages sent and received can take up to three days, some simply don't arrive.
Home reception is virtually non existent.
We've made numerous calls to Vodafone 'Customer Support' (inappropriate choice of words) and all to no avail. We pay $113.99 per month for each business contract and $55 per month for the personal contract, totaling $282.98 per month. Money very unwisely spent but contractually bound.
Great to see someone take the initiative, and time, to take Vodafone to task, thank you, and hopefully a class action will make Vodafone sit up and take notice of all its disgruntled customers.
SHAME ON YOU Vodafone, you have no right to call yourselves a 'Service Provider', unless of course you include the prefix 'NO'.

My plan was orignally set up in my boyfriends name as i was under 18.. even though the phone has been in my name now for nearly 2 years.. i still recieve a bill with his name on it..and they put the wrong account number on my bill every month.. so every month when i pay it.. it goes into the wrong account.. and every montht they cut off my phone. therefore EVERY month i spend hours on the phone to them to fiz the issue.. yet when they send me the check they send it to my old boyfriends address anyways. and when im finally jack of it and get out of my contract they hit me with a $1000 phone bill.. and everytime i try to call they hang up on me or dont speak english well enough to understand what im saying. With telstra now...and i have 2 words.. THANK GOD!!

29 Dec 2010 08:37:43 AM: 29 Dec 2010 12:15:39 AM: I think you'll find that the reason people are complaining about battery performance is BECAUSE the service is shit. When a phone can't get service, it tries harder/consumes more power to try and find a signal. My iPhone WAS lasting 2 days at a time, and ive noticed im getting "Searching..." alot more now (Yes, another Voda customer...) and its chewing through it like no tomorrow...
7835 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Really Poor network in CAMP HILL BRISBANE at 28 Dec 2010 10:02:30 PM
I live 7km from Brisbane CBD (Camp Hill)and I get virtually zero data coverage and limited phone reception, I have to go outside to get a clear line...once I have a clear line it continually drops out. A half hour conversation may take 5-6 calls because the person I was talking to tries to call back after the line drops therefore it goes to voice mail when I call. So much for having internet on my phone literally does not work...where I live I get no data coverage, where I work I get no data coverage therefore I only get to use this when I am in the CBD.
25 Nov 2011 04:58:14 PM: The best way is go to the tio and when you phone vodafone get there employee number every time you call them and write it down in a note pad once you have done this call the tio by a landline phone 1800 062 058 www.tio.com.au and i had the same problem with optus and the tio can get into the departments where the public can't get to then the provider will call you and say i want to port my number out. I did it and i was in the middle of a 24 month contract and all i had to pay was the remaining payment on the handset and nothing to the rest of the contract and when i got the call i went to the telstra shop and ported my number and i haven't looked back and telstra uses 850 mhz on there next g and iPhones work very well on the network

I live in the city, in Brisbane, and my network coverage is constantly going out. I am often sitting around waiting for data to come through and have given up on many occasions. I am unable to receive network coverage in a shopping centre! I am only a new customer and had I known I would never have gone with vodafone... and I was a three customer for years - I can't understand how a merged company with three can be getting such a different experience. I don't care so much that all my complaints go to India but I do want them listened to and I do want coverage, as after all, that's what I pay good money for!! Yours truly, outraged customer.
7820 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is incorrect billing at 28 Dec 2010 09:44:09 PM
It's sorted out now, thanks to myself. I was incorrectly billed $94.08 as an early extension fee on a contract. Turned out it should not have been included (especially since it wasn't mentioned when I agreed to it). I spoke to Vodaphone about this and they said they would call me back about it...they didn't, and a couple of weeks later my next bill came in. I then rang them about it three times today as firstly it dropped out, then i was on hold forever as it didn't explain how i could utilise the automated callback option.
7817 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is unreasonable contract at 28 Dec 2010 09:41:33 PM
Family member has signed up to month to month plan $ 35.00 per month and 500 MB of data, I have found that the excess data is 50 cents per MB the danger is if the phone is misused ( or stolen ) the excess data is charged at $ 500 per MB. Example use 1 GB of data per day , for a month one would have a bill of $ 15,000 for a teenager for 1 month very dangerous indeed, there is no alert system or way to shut of the data so the customer service staff member said i believe the contracts are unfair to have any at that level of risk, This has happened to me once all ready where family member with another carrier thought they were using the home wifi. The fair price excess data would be 2 cents per MB ( still $ 600.00 for 30 GB ), plus enforce the USA system of notifying the customers of over the limit usage and the option of setting to limit for the month. I have traveled and found that 500 MB is about 2 days limit for myself. All the the telco contracts need to be reviewed to see if there is unreasonable risks for the customers Regards David
7809 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is intermittently at 28 Dec 2010 09:36:08 PM
I live in a densely populated suburb south of Brisbane where I would expect excellent coverage to be available all the time; unfortunately this is not the case, especially with my 3G not actually receiving/sending any data packets at times. It appears that the issue predominantly occurs in areas lower in altitude (now if Vodafone say that is expected, I say that is pretty lame given the advent of mobile technology in the past 5-10 years). Also regardless of the coverage area I am in (including Brisbane CBD), every second or third time I make/receive a call, the call gets connected, but neither me nor the person at the other end can hear a thing. I thought maybe it is my handset and reset all settings to factory settings (as until a couple of months back it was all good), but the situation remains. So everytime I make/receive such a 'virtual' call, I or the caller at the other end loses their credit for nothing. Very frustrated and I had no idea that such issues were so widespread; three cheers to the good work mate. You can count me in on any initiative that would escalate/resolve this issue.

7808 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Failure! at 28 Dec 2010 09:35:22 PM
After being to I would receive signal at my principle place of residence I signed up to a 24 month $114 cap. Once I got the phone home I had no signal at all, not even at the front of my house! Dealt with the issue for almost a year only being able to use my phone in the centre of town and in various other restricted places I had become fed up with paying dead money to VODAFONE! So after contacting customer care and talking to some call centre in "Melbourne" various times I finally took them to the Telecommunications Ombudsmen, even Vodafones response from that complaint was not overly satisfying. Saying my service was being investigated but would take 4 to 5 months to complete. I said I was not happy with this and then they said I would break the contract (12months) early, but it would cost $1000+. After fighting it some more the termination fee has been waived but was told I would have to pay full price for the handset $850 for an IPhone 3GS. I continued to tell them that the phone is outdated and obsolete. They lowered the price to $300 but still I am not willing to pay that, I believe I should be allowed to keep the phone after the pain and lies I was sold from the start! Still not happy and think that compensation would be in favor! Not to mention the local Vodafone store closed down almost a year ago....wonder why?!?!?!? Was then told when I was switching to OPTUS using a new IPhone 4 I would have the same issues because Vodafone and OPTUS use the same networks! How wrong are they! Get next to full signal outside and still medium strength inside! They need a wake-up call and its about time!

Vodafone should be doing a far better job based on the size of their enterprise! Useless receptipn, calls dropping, late texts and above all the most annoyingly frustrating customer service ever. I give up trying to sort out my problems because I don't have enough time in a day to be on the phone to a whole bunch of different people, waiting for ages then having the call drop and have to start all over again. As for the stupid automated answering servce, it made me want to throw my phone at the wall. 1 month into 24month contract, O crap. What other provider has the HTC Desire HD?

The whole family was with Vodafone for about 10 years. Relatively no problems in that time.
Switched to another network three years ago (better offer) and have only recently swapped back to Vodafone due to the need for a Blackberry (previous network company did not offer them).
Nothing but problems ever since I took out my contract. No reception in places that other companies have outstanding reception. Drops out sometimes for no reason, for ages, only to receive network in the same spot a few minutes later. Calls failing, even with reception. No internet access, even when I have some/a lot of reception.
Glad to see I'm not the only disgruntled and disappointed 'Vodafail' customer!

On one particular occassion i spent atleast 2hrs waiting to change my address! And the at 28 Dec 2010 09:08:37 PM
Extremeley poor reception, no bills sent to me because vodafone staff cannot understand and communicate with customers, unable to claim on my phone insurance because of the high excess so stuck in a plan with a cheap $45 phone!

People try to phone or sms my mobile...but I never receive them...soooo sick of all the excuses..When my direct debit did not go through, I was very rudely told that it was my own fault..even though they admitted their accounting system had dropped my direct debit out.

I came to vodafail on a contract 6 weeks ago living in Sydney.
Every 2nd to 3rd call fails usually with the person I'm trying to talk to not being able to hear me but I can hear them. I have to call them again usually a few times before it works.
I'm in Hervey Bay at the moment and 3G doesn't work at all or any of my apps that need it. I'm getting the usual drop outs including to vodafails help desk.
I did manage 1 call which lasted 1 1/2 hours but that was on hold to the help desk and guess what happened to that call ........ correct.
