Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Calls drop out constantly - I'd be lucky to get through a minute of a call
Internet speed is AGONIZINGLY slow
Voicemail can take a day to show up
MMS rarely work. SMS can take hours to arrive.
The Vodafone website account tools rarely work

4938 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ridiculously Unrealiable! at 27 Dec 2010 07:43:18 PM
I have been having massive reception problems for a while now. I saw on the news tonight that I'm not the only one and I was appalled to hear it! I have complained on three seperate occasions about my issues. In my home I have no signal or sometimes one bar if I'm lucky. My phone calls constantly cut out and there is AT THE VERY LEAST once incident a day where I have had people try to contact me and they are going straight to voicemail when my phone is actually switched on and has reception. When I send picture messages my friends recieve them at like 2am and sometimes not at all. Vodafone have assured me on several occassions that it must be my home that is the problem and that i just need a new sim card. Three new sim cards later and I'm no better off. I don't know what I can do next but I think I'm going to demand them to cancel my contract without a payout fee. In the past they have helped me out if I am persistant.

4929 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is fail x 2 at 27 Dec 2010 07:40:56 PM
I am currently using a vodafail wireless broadband usb. And if I get anymore than 2 bars of service it doesnt work along with this it is constantly dropping out anda myriad of other problems. I cant download anything because the minute I start to the thing drops out. I have spent countless hours on the phone to people in Egypt who wouldnt have a clue about the area I am in or how to fix the problems I am having.
I stupidly also have a vodafail mobile. I have only recently upgraded my phone. When I did they "upgraded" my sim. WHAT A JOKE!!!! Since I have had the new sim I cant get service where I used to be able to. I have to stand very still in one part of my backyard to be able to have a conversation with anyone and even then I get feedback where I constantly hear myself. I have been with them for a number of years and it has consistently downhill instead of improving.

4928 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Bad at 27 Dec 2010 07:40:46 PM
I originally joined Vodafone prepaid about 10 years ago and their coverage, services and prices were ok as long as you lived in a major capital city and didn't venture out anywhere in the Country.

The past 1-2 years, especially since my prepaid service was switched to the 3g network I have noticed terrible reception and call quality even in built up areas. Also a couple of months ago when sending texts the people who I sent texts too advised me that they were getting 20 seperate texts of the exact same message and when I checked my account I discovered that I was getting charged for each and every one of them. I complained but it took Vodafone about 2-3 weeks to resolve the problem and credit me with 150 texts. I wonder how many people didn't know about that problem and were charged 20 times more than what they should have been for text messages.

I also spend a lot of time on the bay islands here in Brisbane with family and Vodafone has absolutely no coverage whatsoever. Regardless of their cheap plans and 60 day expiry I finally switched to a Telstra pre-paid plan last week and here on the bay islands I get 5/5 bars for reception.

OK I pay a little bit more for my service but at least I am getting what I pay for. And that my friends is what Vodafone's customers should do too if they are unhappy. Even if you are on a contract just cancel it and if they threaten to charge an early termination fee just threaten them with the TIO.

Maybe with no customers they might get the message?

4925 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Isn't the question, how is Vodafone NOT failing? at 27 Dec 2010 07:40:08 PM
I've been a very long term customer of Vodafone, switching from Telstra's rip off and very poor service of over a decade ago. I had never had trouble with VF until about 2 years ago and then increasingly so. I got so sick of ringing to complain only to have tours of the world - via Egypt, India and the Phillipines and any time I was put through to someone overseas who can barely speak English, who followed a script and couldn't understand English enough to answer questions, I would ask to put to someone in Australia. You won't get any satisfaction out of ringing customer service. I had to make 2 complaints to the TIO and got some satisfaction, only to then have the same problem develop not so long after, as VF assured me, 'it had been sorted out'. I started to call the head office number in Sydney direct. They will get the message quick enough if every disgruntled person started to call head office, on a real land line, in Australia! Check the phone book - the old hard copy ones (since you probably can't get wireless net coverage to check online anyway). Don't call on the 1 300 numbers they give customers for 'customer service' as you will get the biggest run around. Also, ask for a name and employee identifier number and where they located if you speak to someone and ask them to read back the notes of your call which they enter into their computers and keep your own notes. Problems include call drop outs, sms and voice messages not delivered for days, if at all, both receiving and sending, and yet other times, sms going back and forth without a hitch, poor coverage or no coverage for extended periods where there is supposed to be coverage, calls not connecting so ringing 2 or 3 or 4 times to make a call, static on lines, only hearing every few words, improper and incorrect billing, etc all of the things of which every one complains. I just love ringing directory assistance when I can't recall a number I need, only to be told that the company or business doesn't exist as VF can't find any listing when you know it's there. That's a joke!

4924 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is is a joke at 27 Dec 2010 07:40:04 PM
Every now and then i will flat out have zero reception anywhere for up to 12 hours straight. Outgoing MMS will never send first try and by the time they get to their destination it is hours later usually 3 or 4 in the morning with multiple copies of the same MMS, at my friends frustration They also have the nerve to charge me for every MMS even thought my handset says only one got through! I feel sorry who are trying to run a business. This is ridiculous

Over the last month the service has been extremely poor. There are constant drop-outs, other times you simply can't get through if you are trying to call someone, it simply goes straight to their message bank. My partner lives interstate and we use the phone constanly as a means of communication. We'll at present there is no communication due to Vodaphones poor service at the moment. Also I have got my two (2) daughters and mother on plans/prepaid so at the moment it is not financially viable for me to swap to another carrier.

Extremely unhappy customer

This year i was offered a phone and a better deal with vodafone, so i switched, at the time of the switch i was living in the NT, i told the sales person that i was moving to qld and could he please check the service for vodafone if i gave him the postcode. Once i gave him the postcode he told me that i would have good coverage so i went ahead with the switch. I left thew Nt about 2 moonths after switching to vodafone we were driving back to qld, once leavint darwin i didnt get servive again until i reached katherine, i then lost service and didn't get it again until Mt Isa, from there i lost it again until i reached Roma, then i lost it again until toowoomba.
this was very frustrating.
I have been back in qld since august 2010, i live and work 1 hour from brisbane and i have no service more times than i do have servcice.
To get service will depend where i am standing at the time, at work i do not get any service at all keeping in mind that i do live and work only 1 hour from brisbane.
I cannot wait to tell vodafone where to put their service and switch back to the company i was originally with.I may only paY $49 per month any my account is always in credit, i have given up trying to contact the company,if i could get out of the contract i would as i expect a better service as i am only 1 hour from brisbane and i was told i would have proper phone service.. this is not the case. i would never recomend vodafone to anyone.

4902 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is internet coverage at 27 Dec 2010 07:35:33 PM
i have been a vodafone customer for near on 32 months. for my mobile and 12 months for wireless plan. The problem i have is not with my mobile coverage like many others, but with my internet coverage. after having a great run with mobile coverage i thought it would be a natural transition to get vodafone internet. (i originally wanted to use Optus only optus dont cover my area of victoria point for wireless or broadband, and i refuse to use telstra no matter how cheap or expensive they are) With my vodafone internet i was assured that my area was covered for 3G coverage and the vodafone shop i applied through said we were in the best coverage area possible (all purple colour on their graph) after only a couple of weeks i relised that there was something not right. i rung the customer care line and after many negotations over a couple of weeks. they told me that they were upgrading towers in my area for better coverage. i accepted that. but then after a couple more weeks i relised it still wasnt much better. after a few more calls over a week vodafone then accepted that there was a problem and credited me $15/week on my plan for the remainder of it (its still being credited monthly) im a pretty simple person and hate technology at the best of times. the way i tell if my vodafone coverage is quick or not is by looking at the internet icon when connected and it says 'coverage Very Poor' 100% all the time any time of the day. But when i use the same wireless connection in Capalaba (10 mins from where i live) i have the 'connection read Very Good or Excellent' 100% all the time. i can definatly tell that the connection and download speed is more than acceptable for what i do. Overall its not acceptable for a major telco though to be inconsistant for coverage like this in such close areas and considering all the telcos piggyback their coverage of each others lines when service is bad, its definatly noy acceptable. If Telstra were not so tight and made to share their lines or rent them out to other telco companies every customer would probably get better coverage and service. Between the telco companies, the big 4 banks and woolies and coles it wouldnt suprise me if all of them are owned by the 1 company.

My coverage used to be pretty good... Now I can't use my phone at work and it often drops out when I'm at home too. It occasionally works during the 20 minutes I'm in transit; great!!
Very disappointed, I can't believe they can get away with selling their network to new customers. At least the vodafail site is letting people know!

4878 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is mostly okay at 27 Dec 2010 07:30:30 PM
I have an old cheap (basic features only) phone, pay-as-you-go, and have been with Vodafone for about 5 years. Live in south-west, 7k from Brisbane city, and coverage is pretty much OK. The only time there is no coverage is at places like Mount Nebo, and in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

However, approx 2 years ago, Vodafone changed something in their network, which affected me badly when I made overseas phone calls. Very frustrating, and was close to terminating my "pay-as-you-go" with them. I think they probably switched to using the Internet for overseas calls. After 6-12 months this improved, but its still not as good as what it was before they tinkered with the "overseas-calling" system.

Possibly the problem for many customers is the fancy phone they use is on a different network?? Maybe if you switch back to an el-cheapo phone, you'll be okay again.

Also... just for the record, I originally switched from Optus, as their coverage was worse.

4877 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A joke. at 27 Dec 2010 07:30:21 PM
I was in Sydney 3 weeks ago in the middle of the city in George Street and my vodafone iphone had NO reception... I had to turn my phone on and off and wait for 10 minutes before i had just 1 bar of reception. I have two phones on a $99 plan and 2 usb internet cards and both my phones constantly drop out of reception (i live in the centre of Brisbane), sometimes wont dial out or takes about 5 minutes to actually decide to dial out, voicemail can be up to 2 days to come through or i get delayed messages at 2am in the morning, my usb internet cards often fail to connect and i have to reinstall the software.
There is no point advertising good deals and competitive rates if the service provided is shit. In my opinion, Vodafone cannot compare themselves or their service to any of the major telco companies such as Telstra and Optus. You need to question the capacity of the vodafone network. It would appear that Vodafone have oversold their capacity and the number of users simply outweighs the network capability thus leading to the continued problems arrising in nearly every user. Surely this would be Misrepresentation under the Trade Practices Act. I certainly did not sign up to pay for a service that would not be given to me.

4876 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Woeful at 27 Dec 2010 07:30:10 PM
Having been with vodafone since I got my first phone 10 years ago.. I have done my best to remain a faithful customer. However in the last 18 months their service, reception, data access has been nothing short of worthless. My best friend lives 3 hours away, is also a Vodafail customer. So we would regularly make use of their prepaid $29 caps, using the voda minutes... However without fail, every 10 minutes or so, the call would drop out causing us to have to recall the other person, wasting more money on connection, in the space of an hour phone call, the call dropped out 12 times.. that is once every 5 minutes. I live on top of a mountain in qld, and the only places in my house where I could get reception were if i stood my phone up on top of my computer tower, or if i was holding it above my head in the back yard. So because of that I had to go out and spend $50 on a blue tooth, just so i could talk to people. But still I only ever had 1 bar of reception. Then of course there were the text msg's. I would send one msg to my best friend, and she would receive 8 copies of the msg... all of which I had been charged for. When I asked voda why this was, I was told (by an outsourced Indian who's accent was so think I struggled to understand them) that it was a phone problem. So why is it then that I would receive multiple copies of the same msg from my best friend, when she had an entirely different phone? I asked voda about that... they hung up. Obscene at best... ignorant and rude. So i'd had enough... I swithced to telstra. But in order to use the same phone, I had to unlock it from Voda... Back to the Indian call centre I go. I was previously told by one of the local phone stores, that if I had put enough credit through the phone since I had owned it, that I would have it unlocked for free. When I called the call centre, I was told by one of their Indian operators, that I could have it unlocked if I paid $50 WHICH I MAY OR MAY NOT GET BACK IN CREDIT ON THE PHONE. What the hell?? I didn't want credit on the phone... I wanted to be done with Voda all together.. So at the advice of my parents I contacted the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman who forwarded my complaint to voda. 8 Days later I received a phone call from an australian girl from their complaints centre who informed me that what I had been told by the phone centre was correct, and that the information given my by the indian call centre operator was absolute rubbish. They unlocked my phone for free and I am finally done with Vodafone. Come on Vodafone.... pull your fingers out of your backsides and fix the issues. Telstra have been wonderful since I switched to them. I'm answered almost immediately by their australian call centre, and the only one issue I had with them regarding the msg bank, they fixed immediately without problems or hassle. Thank you telsra.

I find it absolutely frustrating that I live 10mins from Brisbane City Centre and have terrible reception at my house. Not to mention as soon as I leave Brisbane either North, South or West I get no reception at all in a lot of places where my friends with Optus do. I was on holiday for a week in a popular coastal area with absolutely no reception whilst my friends enjoyed full service with Optus.

Vodafone allowed another company (have no idea who) to put $40 worth of calls on my mobile phone without my permission or knowledge. When I complained, I was told tough luck, I still had to pay. I wrote to them to advise that I wouldn't pay this bill, but they still keep billing me every month ($39.01). This has been going on for about a year now. They have no customer service.

I went to a friends house today and only way of getting in the house is through the garage. So what one does is call the phone to notify you're there and then he opens the door for you. Well, i tried for a good 10 minutes to call his phone, but it wouldn't even connect. It was absolutely bucketing outside so i wasn't going to leave my car. I ended up honking the horn till he came out and saw i was out there. I also sent him a text message, thinking he may receive that and he did receive it, 3 hours later when i was already comfortable on the lounge, watching a bit of tv. and then later in the afternoon he sent me two texts (we're actually both with vodafone) and i didn't receive them until 4 hours later. what an absolute joke. I live in the CBD and in my house i have limited reception. I have to wander around the house until i find a spot and if i want to make a call, that's where i have to remain. It's pathetic. Enough is enough.

Complaints to the customer service keep you on the phone for hours, (as if you dont have a life and can afford that time wastage.) I had an I phone with Vodafone for a year in melbourne, I actually had no network issues, and the phone worked okay in Ballarat.

However, the customer service was a nightmare! I left vodafone to upgrade to the 3GS earlier this year and switched to OPTUS. I asked for a final account and waited. And waited. And got one after three months showing that vodafone owed me about $40. So I sent an e-mail to the big V that took a week to be answered, saying that the e-mail team can't do a refund! So I tried the phone team, spent a while on hold and finally got through. After a 15 minute argument I was told that it would take 6 weeks to send me a cheque for the money, no interest would be applied and if I didn't like it someone would contact me. I asked the guy to get anyone to call me back to explain the 6 week delay for a cheque, noone ever has. Small fry I know but bloody annoying!

I have no reception on my vodafone phone when I'm at work in Yandina. I also have a work Telstra mobile and this works fine in Yandina. Vodafone need to sort their coverage issues out. What's the point in having a mobile for emergencies when it's unlikely to have coverage when you need it most!!!!

4753 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is blatantly overcharging even though never went over cap at 27 Dec 2010 07:07:59 PM
during my 2 year contract with vodafone $69 cap - would usually not even use the allocated amount of calls during each monthly billing period..this went on for over 14 months - then, for some reason - still not explained by vodafone my monthly bills would spike to anywhere between $260 - $370 dollars... i phoned and tried to explain that i never made that many calls, and that my past usage was always within or below the cap amount - to no avail...they were not interested...however, the very next month, after having complained in 'strong language' to the staff member, my monthly bill was once again down to the $70 amount...however, every 2nd or 4 month - it would be up again. vodafone staff not interested in doing anything about it...i also saw a charge for almost $22 for a 1223 number (which is for directory assistance for locating a phone number - and it usually only takes a minute or two) yet vodafone staff were not interested in following up with this query when i asked them to explain why my bill showed this amount - and as they issued the invoice and kept all records of all calls made and received - it would be a simple matter to correct this mistake - result: a big fat nothing - no action at all. pathetic service considering the market vodafone has - why is not there a duty to step up and provide a necessary service in this day and age. surely that is not an unreasonable request. thank you for setting up this site.

approx 3 months ago i was trying to get a samsung galaxy and after nearly 8 weeks of searching s.e Qld to find 1, i did eventually find 1 only catch was it was through vodafone. now i was already with 3 and they weren't to bad so i figured that if 3 and vodafone had merged that i would be ok,that was my first mistake..next after being told at the shop that i wasn't going to be stung an early termination fee from 3 i get a bill for $1965 to pay out my 3 acc... mistake 2.. i tore the shit outta 3 and had the bill reduced to just over $300. then day one the reception issue started, i have contacted vodafone numerous times with little satisfaction the best they could offer was 3 months free, ( which is useless when im at home)(my reception problem) and i was told in could take upto 5-6 months to fix. now i understand that we live in australia one of the worst places on the planet for internet speed but it's 2010, not 1989 this country has the highest mobile use per capita of anywhere in the world,.. please tell me (WTF) is goin on. all i want is to be able to pick up my fone and use it, thats wat i pay my money for...if you read this and your with vodafone,im sorry.

4744 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I spent one and a half hours holding for service at 27 Dec 2010 07:06:10 PM

My wireless broadband keeps dropping out and webpages keep faling over. Also my Blackberry internet connection works only intermittently.

I finally caled the Vodafone help line and was placed in a hold queue for more than and hour and a half. And then the operator couldn't answer the questions and put the phone down on me.

BUT IT IS JUST WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED FROM VODAFONE AND THE OTHER TELCOs. The should all be fined for poor service and driven out of business.

4725 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is supremely! at 27 Dec 2010 07:01:34 PM
I use a vodafone dongle to acess the internet. They have had several 'problems' with yahoo and general connectivity, network coverage etc. When I ring them to speak to them I can either be on hold for an hour and a half or being insulted by rude, and obnoxious persons who have little graps of the English language. They have, on several occassions extended my data allowance and expiration date to apease me. This has been fine - but the problems never gert fixed! When I rang up exaberated they refused to authroise a refund as I had already been using their service!
The staff have blatantly lied to me on the phone by saying that they do not give data allowances or any kind of recompense - then when I demand to speak to a supervisor they offer data allowance to try to make me happy!
half the time i question whether i even get through the right people!
I am fed up and would be quite happy if they never existed. They are really uselss, overpriced and offer little or no customer satisfaction.

4699 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is MAJOR EPIC FAIL!!!! at 27 Dec 2010 06:55:49 PM
Vodafone please explain the following...

Why is it that voice mail messages take OVER 24 hours to arrive?????
Why is my Wireless broadband service is slow and prone to multiple dropouts???
Why do phone calls drop out constantly???
Why is it that there are times that I cannot get internet on my iPhone 4???
Why is it that it can take TWO days to send an MMS with multiple fails???
Why is it that I have so much trouble trying to get my billing/account information on your web site???

It's not as if I live in the sticks, I live 12 kilometres from the centre of Brisbane. You "took" 4 days a year ago to "upgrade" your service leaving me with no phone or internet. It was only after I went to the TIO that you refunded the cost of my contract for the 4 days.

As soon as this contract is finished, so is our "relationship".

4691 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Life threatening at 27 Dec 2010 06:54:28 PM
I am a health professional and constantly rely on my mobile as I am on call. This has now become a life threatening issue in my instance. I constantly receive texts and voice mail hours, sometimes days later asking "why is your phone phone off or unavailable?" when I have my phone within arms length at all times. My phone drops out or is scrambled EVERY time I make a call and regularly "fails". I went to a Vodafone store where I was told that it might possibly be my handset and I "should buy a new phone to test out the reception theory". NOT LIKELY, VODAFONE.Cannot believe the nerve! Have been a voda customer for years, and will definitely be changing carriers when this contract ends.
28 Dec 2010 12:33:27 AM: I;m an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodaphone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.
29 Dec 2010 12:21:46 PM: If you were my health professional i would get rid of you too! Someone not responsible enough to manage their communication tools isn't responsible enough to look after my health issues. Hope you get sacked for your incompetence. And blaming a useless fone company for your shortcomings is despicable. You don't deserve to look after other people's health problems. How many people have to die and become vegetables because you are too stupid and lazy to immediately get a phone with a reputable company and cancel your vfail service through the TIO?

Signed up to vodafone, my fail. Anyway I wanted to keep my phone number, no problems there, so I thought... I didn't recieve a sim, I recieved a bill for a new phone number, kept me on hold for almost 2 hours before I gave up, sent them an email and no reply for over 7 days.

If their debt collection department rings me, I will have finally spoken to someone.

Sticking with my current TPG plan, $49 for $1000 worth of calls and 500mb data, their call centre picks up quickly and are very helpful... too bad they don't have a little more data for my iphone, but I will deal with it.

Not happy with vodafone.

4676 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 27 Dec 2010 06:50:27 PM
I've been with Vodafone since 1998 and I would have to say that they were a real competitor against other Telco's until the last 2-3 years. Since then the service went completely downhill starting with vodafone customer rewards program for long standing members. However I signed a contract with them about a year ago with the release of Blackberry storm smartphones and I'd have to say I have spent hours of time completely wasted following up on major explanations as to why my phone bills were over $200 dollars. When speaking to a service rep my bills were reduced several hundred dollars. So lets imagine this - if one did not follow up on why, which the telco never explained as to why I was immensely overcharged, then I would of been charged. So instead, I waste hours of my time on hold waiting for them to fix a problem they caused. This is just the start. I will be a very keen participant of the class action being organised and I know Piper Alderman is a solid firm with strong roots in the legal system. Whoever started this I applaud you.

I was told that my iphone with vodafone has the network coverage in the area I complained about "no service" but each time I go to the same place there's just no way to make a call or text. I have vodafone INTERNET. 1st month bill received by text, 2nd month by email, 3rd month 'twice' by email & 4th month NOT AT ALL! tried ringing vodafone to get bill, consultant asked for vodaphone mobile number, i explained I was an internet customer not a mobile customer therefore didnt have a mobile number consultant says 'sorry ma'am we cant assist you without a mobile number' then hung up!
Went INTO vodafone - stood there 15 minutes (initially i was only other customer in store apart from 2 people being served)& staff saw me waiting! other customers entered store & queued behind me (as you do)... my turn came, a lady walks up pushes in & the vodafone rep tells ME I have to wait now because they have started serving the other lady grrrr!... so of course i left. Went home, tried ringing again this time waited 58 minutes - no answer then got disconnected. went back into store (different store this time) got served. was told bill was due a few days earlier - explained i hadnt received email, was told that the email was showing as queued (meaning never got sent) no apologies just told to pay the bill at the post office - also told i may get a fee!!! (not a hope i'll be paying any fee).
My internet drops out ALL the time and shifts between 3G and H on a continuous basis making it almost impossible to keep a connection! I want to drop my dataplan to a lower one (im on month to month) but apparantly not allowed???
Try telling vodafone your problems, if they bother to answer there phones, THEY WONT CARE about your issues!!! They have absolutely DISGUSTING customer service and are impossible to reason with!!! Best thing to do - ditch them and go with another company!!!

As a bit of fun I've asked 3 sales clerks in Vodafone shops to see their phone and 2 of them are with Optus (Not much better)! The data coverage even in major metro areas is appalling, and they try to make you purchase a Wifi booster to increase signal but it doesn't. Unless you live next to a 3G tower I wouldn't even try to use the web in your phone, especially IPhone. They usually work faster when you turn 3G off. All customer "care" is now in Mumbai, India where they sadly have trouble understanding our fast Aussie accents, especially when discussing technical problems. 4534 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone sucks at 27 Dec 2010 06:22:44 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 13 years, I've had a few good years here and there but most if that time I have had horrendous service. I know your probably thinking why stay ? But the problems seem to go away when my contract is up and they flash a free phone at you and promise you the world- I resign! Then I'm starting it all over again. I have calls drop out, phone turns off, can't send txts or mms and if I do the get recieved a few days later. My phone says it's turned off when people call me( I miss work because of it) it goes from full service to no service in 3 seconds while sitting in the same spot. Data coverage is terrible, but the worst has been that I had emergency surgery in august and when I came out, people were trying to call me to see how I was and couldn't get threw as it says it's off, it was so upsetting for my family cause they were worried. Also when I got home I was alone and my mum tried to ring and it said it was off again!! I was laying in bed crying alone cause I couldn't talk to anyone. I tried calling customer care as I lay there, I got a rude Indian that had no sympathy and cut me off! I've had 4 iPhones in 6 months period replaced Sim cards, constantly resetting my phone, upgraded software, you name it I've done it! Apple don't have a answer and ofcourse Vodafone don't either! Just 4 days ago I went to my local store to find out how much to cancel my contract, $1000!! 2 hours later I am no better off , told to upgrade software cause that's the issue but come back and they might give me an iPhone 4- how will that fix it??? Grrrrrrrrrrrft help

4525 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pain in the #$%^ butt at 27 Dec 2010 06:21:25 PM
I am on a $49 with Crazy Johns (Vodafail network). It is just hopeless. Still another 18 months to go. I haven't even bothered to call. I switched to TPG (Optus) and gave my card to to my wife. She never needs data.

I've only been a customer of vodafone for like 3 weeks and i'm already disappointed!! i have absolutely hardly to no coverage!! calls drop out every 3 or so minutes which means i spend more money calling the person on the other line back because there's no reception.. i called and they said it was most likely the phone i was using so i called my other phone network provider (optus) to unlock my phone from the optus network and i still have the same problem.. no matter where i go i get poor reception!!

Have a mobile broadband that according to the coverage , where I live is supposed to be excellent. Guess what, no service whatsoever - have changed the sim card and monthly calls to the call centre- oops, its that time if the month when I call the centre, am promised a call back, or contact your local office. Spending $30 month for nothing. My mobile phone will not even work inside the shopping centre- nothing wrong with the phone as I can put a telstra or optus card in and reception is fine. The whole service a joke(on us- the consumer who willingly pays good money to receive ?????? - Happy to take our money every month) May2011 cannot come soon enough when I can get off my phone plan and Sept 2011 for mu mobile plan. Toowoomba Qld

4510 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DISGUSTING at 27 Dec 2010 06:19:17 PM
I signed a 1 year contract in September this year. Ever since I had dropped calls, no reception, lost customers. They kept telling me they would have to check the reception with their own tests, then they said it was the sim card, they replaced the sim card, IT SEEMED WITH EVERY CALL THERE WAS A DIFFRENT EXCUSE AND A NEW DELAYING TACTIC, EVENTUALLY after many hours on hold and many calls and threats to take them to Consumer Affairs for false advertising (telling me I would have reception in my area) and charge them for my lost business, they AGREED to let me out of my contract at no charge. They gave me a cancellation number and I went straight away to Optus, I haven't had a problem since, EXCEPT I am still waiting for the return bag to send their phone back!! I have phoned again 3 times. So the saga isn't finished yet....
My advice is, keep calling! Ask for Cancellations department! Demand they let you out of your contract and threaten them with Consumer Affairs etc. And Don't give up, !!!

4507 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is total shit!! at 27 Dec 2010 06:18:32 PM
i was a 3 customer and NEVER had trouble with them! i didn't ask to switch to vodafone so why should i be stuck with their crap service. i live 40 mins from brisbane cbd and i work in the city yet i had NO coverage for 4 days in either area from the 17th to the 21st!!!! i did however have dozens and dozens of missed txts and calls from friends, work colleagues and my boss! some of them thought i was bullshitting and i was almost as popular as vodafone! since vodafone took over my bill has gone through the roof and when i went in store for some advice i got told to go to allphones...it took 2 days for the more than helpful allphone staff to help me as the vodaphone network was down and they couldn't access it! its quite fitting really that vodafone sponsers the aussie cricket team they're just as shit!!!

4502 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgusted at 27 Dec 2010 06:17:09 PM
I've been with vodafone for over two years with both a mobile and usb modem contract. My bills have never been over the prescribed amount until about May of 2010. After May 2010, my usb modem bills went from $39 each month to $200+...
including one bill which hit $1,000. After repeated phone calls to them about the problem where I was put on hold for 45+ minutes each call, including one where I was on the phone for more than 3 hours and then told that the section I need was now closed, I asked for them to cancel my contracts.
They told me they could wipe the $1,000 bill in its entirity as long as I stayed with vodafone. I told them that was black mail considering it was a mistake there end to begin with.
They offered me higher data plans, none of which offers have actually been followed through.
I have since managed to have my phone contract cancelled, but each time I ring to get my usb modem cancelled there is always some reason why they can't do it.

My mobile phone was dropping out mid calls and making really strange noises.
My internet service is very poor. I get approximately 5 - 15 minutes before I have restart it. Very frustrating.

Totally over vodafail.

4492 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Signal strength has fallen at 27 Dec 2010 06:15:19 PM
Moved to the current address in 2008, 3 bars of signal all around the house. During the past 2 years signal trength has dropped to the point where ther is only one place in our home where we receive usable signal strength. Also texts sent between out mobile phones can take 5Hrs or more to arrive.

We have a twelve month pre paid 20 gig internet connection with Crazy John's. (alias vodaphone). Drops out at will, difficult to connect, very slow during normal hours, sometimes soooo slow its not worth the wait. Constant calls to India have not improved the system at all but we are still being told all is OK at their end. They continue to send us through the usual test sequences time and time again. Hours lost on the phone and without internet. They refuse to send a representative to us so they really see what we go through all the time. Local Crazy John salesman suggested we write to the ombudsman as there was nothing he could do without India giving the ok.

4485 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 'bout 1,000,000 at 27 Dec 2010 06:14:09 PM
Vodafone are restricting calls AND texts from users of other networks. My own mother cannot contact me, save for my home number.

I also have experienced slow data transfer rates and delayed voicemails. This is coupled with the poor performance of the iPhone 4 (I'm currently on my SECOND) which they did knew of but didn't pass this info onto me before purchase.

Have joined class action.
