26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2159 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is no signal. line drop at 27 Dec 2010 11:54:22 AM
it is shit network. shit phone.n97. it may cost me a lot of business deal and my company's reputation
27 Dec 2010 12:29:48 PM: No, I'd say your punctuation would probably be the chief cause of that.
27 Dec 2010 01:29:29 PM: Trolling on a complaint board ? That's pretty low bruh. Do you work for Vodaphone or something ?
27 Dec 2010 03:16:31 PM: i have had vodafone now since 28th dec 2009 i have had problems from week one of my contract the fone is a major problem a nokia n97 a piece of junk i origonally wanted iphone and got talked out of it by vfone staff now when i want change to wot i wanted they say its gonna cost me heaps i have to pay outold contract and apply for new one, rubbish as far as i am concerned, they sell me a piece of junk they should replace with equivilent or better not worse. my fone dropps out eve when i have 5 bars of service and even though it has 2 -3 bars it says i cant get connection ???? they tell me fone needs software upgrade i do this online and nothing changes. i use my fone primarily for bussiness as i am interstate truck driver and it causes me massive frustration i have the same problems in any capital city i visit and many coutry centers too i have had to keep my old telstra prepaid to make up for vfones unreliability. Gary Miller lmleroyb@gmail.com
i am more than willing to join anyclass action or just get the fone i wanted in first place and the service i pay for
27 Dec 2010 03:17:51 PM: LOL, dude. Consider using more punctuation.
27 Dec 2010 03:37:35 PM: "LOL, dude." who cares??? this is not an english writing exam. GET OVER IT.
27 Dec 2010 03:38:31 PM: consider using a spell check too
27 Dec 2010 03:38:37 PM: Thats pretty bad.

I had what was an unlocked phone and since using the Vodafone "dis"service my message center is stuck to Vodafone and I can no longer send text messages.
27 Dec 2010 03:48:10 PM: i agree they are crap and yea man who cares about the spelling i just can never be bothered checking my typing in these things and im sure that spelling has nothing to do with spelling they are just Crap unreliable, liars who just dont care they dont even have there call centres here lets try india egypt what the hell. ill class action with you shanan_beals@hotmail.com they need to be stripped of there great bright red and be downgraded to dirt brown
27 Dec 2010 03:56:25 PM: I find the grammar, punctuation, and endless syntax errors in this piece of prose atrocious. The level of English is touching no illiteracy. It%u2019s as though this person was educated by reading American comics. What has gone wrong with our school system in Australia? I hope the person has their phone upgraded.
28 Dec 2010 07:33:31 AM: Since time immemorial, illiterate and or dyslexic people have learnt to communicate using the written and spoken word of popular culture. Ie, an illiterate or dyslexic person from the 70's would be prone to using 'hippyisms'. This guy sounds like a hard working tax paying aussie champion, for you to nit pick over his grammer? especially in this forum? Pure sehole.

2156 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No service - bad reception at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:48 AM
I can only use about 10% of my cap plan when i am at home. I go from 1 bar to 'no service' 90% of the time. Vodafone promised to investigate and get back to me on 24th dec. I had to call them on the afternoon of 24th. They said the investigation was ongoing and that i'd hear from them when they had an answer. I was given 1 weeks worth off call costs off my bill to make up for this problem - a problem that has been getting worse over the last three months.
27 Dec 2010 11:57:59 AM: I'd like to add that I am paying $80 per month when I am getting about $10 value out of my service and they don't seem to care.I can't wait to get out of my contract. My neighbour (10mt away)had her contract cancelled due to bad reception yet I have to wait until they can 'test' my service and deliver a verdict!

2141 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is an utter disappointment at 27 Dec 2010 11:50:59 AM
I'm finding it sort of comforting that there are so many other people in the same bloody predicament as I'm in! I was a happy customer with Three for about 5 years, I only switched over about a month ago because I was assured that the service would be BETTER (it was only the no extra roaming charges that I cared about, my service was fine). Plus the Three/Vodafone store seemed to only be selling iphones to vodafone customers, they had some kind of weird hierarchical waiting list going on. From the get-go I've been terribly unimpressed with Vodafone, lamenting that I paid extra fees to switch over. I feel betrayed by the staff for not being honest with me and taking my money!! And then on a weekend away, where previously I had impeccable coverage from Three, I was unable to contact my friend I had been wanting to see because I had no reception! So frustrating! I live walking distance to the CBD and can't make phone calls to people within 5km of me! And at times I've attempted to send messages and they've failed because of poor reception, and then sent all at once later on costing me 5 times the price! I'm frustrated, my friends are frustrated. Grrrr so angry. And sad. I miss Three :(

My daughter and I are both currently with Vodafone and now don't get reception around the corner from our home at my brother's house. We live in north-west suburban Melbourne. It had become somehting of a family joke, but it's not funny! We also travel around the state and in several locations where our friends on "3" have coverage, we don't. When I rang, they said there were no plans to alter this any time soon. When I asked about the "3", I was told that they were considered a different company. Whatthe????? So it's off to Telstra we go - both of us - me on a high, business plan and her on a substantial prepaid! Enough is enough!!!! Good on you for starting this site!

2117 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Needs to fix its "3" network coverage at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:48 AM
I have a THREE mobile broadband that is City Based. I get no reception even in outlying subs, such as Sunbury, Craigieburn, Melton and Cranbourne. I depend on my wireless BBand for communication, however the 3 netowrk coverage is just plain awful. It gives the option to roam to Telstra 2G (GPRS) in country areas at the rate of around $2 per MB. Given that Vodafone is itegrating the 3 network as its own and eliminating the 3 brand, then Vodafone had better review its 3 network Mobile Broadband with regard to extending coverage, otherwise it might as well shut the thing down
27 Dec 2010 11:51:15 AM: How moronic are you. Everyone knows that 3's coverage is only the metro area and going outside that roams onto telstra's network and off course there is going to be charges
27 Dec 2010 12:02:48 PM: Vodafone could change the roaming arrangements to allow roaming to its own network rather than telstra - thats if it HAS its own network beyond the cap cities

I live 5 km from the cbd. Every call i make drops out the first time i call... sometimes i keep trying (out of sheer bloodymindedness) and sometimes the call will actually stay connected for a while. But mostly it won't. And call quality is crap. Thank goodness i'm out of contract in less than 2 months - goodbye vodafail!!

When I signed over to Voda I was told there will be no difference in coverage and call quality. However I have not been able to get coverage inside my own residence. When checking thier coverage maps I am in a full coverage area.
Also I do not get coverage in carpark basements even tho workmates beside me have no problems.
Call quality is also poor.
I am using HTC Desire, non telstra version.

2110 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is is a recent failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:05 AM
Up until about 6 weeks ago I found Vodafone okay, no problems with calls, texts or service, but now my calls just drop out, text messages are arriving days after people send them, my phone is telling people who ring me thats its switched off or send them threw to my voicemail when its on and has full service and coverage. When I rang to complain about the service it took me an 1hr and 40 minutes to get threw... Not good enough Vodafone, i'll be switching provides when my contract runs out in a next month...
27 Dec 2010 02:14:15 PM: I can't wait till my contract with vodafone is over in 6 weeks !!! Goodtimes ahead!!! They offered me a iphone 4 if i sign up for 2 more years but i think a 8 week delivery time is pretty ordinary, and the coverage is pretty poor concidering my metro location

2107 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 3? at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:15 AM
Is vodafone also the owners of 3? I have had trouble with them for 18 months and have low coverage, can never access voicemail yet am still charged for it.
Am I right it saying Vodafone owns 3?
27 Dec 2010 11:54:48 AM: Vodafone and Hutchisson's (Operators of 3) "merged", with Vodafone being the senior partner. Thus, Vodafone brand is scheduled to displace the 3 brand, likely within 12 months. Localities with "3" shops and Vodafone shops in close proximity will see one of the two being closed as part of the staff rationalisation program built into the integration process. How this affects 3 services is to be seen, but 3 in its coverage area is significantly faster than Vodafone's 3G service. I wouldn't mind one of the plastic 3's from the stores they'll refit or close !
27 Dec 2010 12:06:13 PM: 3 and Vodafone are owned by the same company but at this point of time are still two seperate intities.. Kind of like Coles Super Markets and Kmarts, they are both owned by coles but are still two different companies. However, 3 and Vodafone will be eventually the same thing.

I was with Vodafone for over a year, fortunately I was prepared to go through all the crap to rid myself of them.
I had wireless broadband, never got more than 10mins on the net before I lost the connection.
The most infuriating thing for me was trying to contact them. Sometimes Id wait up to 30mins to get through. Then when i realised i wasnt speaking to someone in Australia I demanded to be put through to someone here.
That irritating "Voice Recognition" system they have "Im Lara, all you have to do is talk to me" obviously designed to keep you on hold as long as possible in the hope that youll just give up!!
They still kept sending me bills up to 5months after id finally paid up and finished with them.I finally called them again, and again "30 mins" on hold, got the operator to look up my details, to be told "Oh, youre no longer a customer" Duh!! She said she would stop the bills coming. No bills so far, but im still not convinced theyve stopped. Vodafone were without a doubt the "Worst" company I have ever dealt with and I will "Never" go near them again.

Well that lasted for 2 months and was told they would fix the problem. Now we have no choice but to pay the full amount. Don't believe their advertising it's very misleading.

I have been with Vodafone for a few years, promised same reception as telstra, though i dont get service very often at all. I use these phones for work and very rarely get reception.Since the two companies have joined i cannot make calls at all, Cannot call out, if someone does eventually get through calls drop out, I have contacted Vodafone and they have told me they will do a check on my phones,as they dont have a problem it must be my phones. The Cancellation team also have told me they want me to pay the exit fees on the service which I am not willing to pay as I am not getting a service and never have had a great service with Vodafone. All lies about there Service.
So Angry!
Please advise who to contact to join in on class action against Vodafone!

2045 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is International FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:30:34 AM
I am not ina mess now! BUT!!! I joined Vodafone in July. I onformed them I needed an account where I could send TEXTS to Sri Lanka, and that there are hundreds per month. I informed them of my fiance's Phone Provider. They said that is not an issue. I got the new Sim Card, alerted all family and friends my new number. Closed my long standing account with Optus, and thought I had found the BEST phone Plan... WRONG!! The Text messages would not go through. I called Vodafone and alerted them. They then told me they do not support my fiancee's network provider, when they assured me they did. I was ANGRY.... I had signed a month by month contract for 12 months. I can't remember what happened next, but the next day I called them again. They said that my fiancee's phone provider WAS the ONLY one the covered, yet the day before I had been told conflicting stories. I was fuming. I told them to shove the SIM card up their ASS and that I would not be paying a cent for any calls I made. I then emailed headoffice and they agreed with my story and cancelled my number, but it still took over a month for them to clear the bill, which was $3-$4 dollars. The network providers we are talking about in Sri Lanka are Airtel and Dialog. I WILL NEVER USE VODAFONE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM!!!

I have been a loyal customer of theirs for years. Im READY TO CHANGE~! I wanted to upgrade my phone to an iphone 4. I was told at WATERGARDENS VODAFONE that i will be on a WAITING LIST for this upgrade because they had none in stock. 2 MONTHS WENT PAST my partner called to check up, nothing and confirmed that we are on that list. 6 MONTHS LATER we went to the store and then they tell us THERE WAS NO SUCH LIST AT ALL!!
27 Dec 2010 11:31:29 AM: you need to contact Vodafone to upgrade as upgrades aren't done at store level. Stores are not meant to have waiting lists.
27 Dec 2010 11:41:57 AM: I've been told by a few different 3/Voda stores that I could be put on a waiting list.
27 Dec 2010 11:55:28 AM: A bulliten was published a week ago for all upgrading customers on 3 and Voda to contact them directly
27 Dec 2010 11:59:49 AM: It's not a company run store it's a third party dealer, as company run stores are not able to complete upgrades at a store level
27 Dec 2010 12:07:42 PM: Dealers are also not allowed to do upgrades at store level
27 Dec 2010 12:54:41 PM: But they sometimes do waiting lists
27 Dec 2010 01:20:15 PM: i think the main problem here is that they waited 6 months for an iphone 4... you never go full retard :S

I have a Vodafone mobile, and a seldom used pre-paid Other Carrier mobile. When going to South Gippsland, I need to set my vodafone to divert to my Other Carrier when out of coverage area. Korumburra has a big tall comms tower on a hill, obviously without any Vodafone service on it. There is one small area of around 2 square metres halfway up the main street, and a similar sliver of space at the Tourist Railway Station at Korumburra that I actually get reception, otherwise its diverted my other phone which is rings for over 95% of the calls made to me when in Korumburra. I miss calls, texts, and the handset muight as well be a piece of cheese for its usefullness in this situation. OTHERWISE I don't have any problems with it, except the 1555 call and data usage SMS service is often out of action or takes sometimes up to an hour to reply

2001 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Complete failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:38 AM
I recently needed to upgrade to a smart-phone on a higher plan and decided to go with 3-Vodafone. I checked out their deals and went with a Blackberry on a cap plan as it sounded pretty good. It wasn't until a week after I'd signed the 2-year contract that I was then told that their Blackberry doesn't operate with any applications (such as GPS). I've thus wasted my money and am now locked into a contract with a smart-phone that cant do anything. Smells like misleading info to me....

When I am at home in Blackburn - Victoria, there is no network understandable, but when I was at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) in the middle of the melbourne city, I see huge amount of advertisement of vodafone but when I tried calling or logging onto internet from my phone no network at all, can you believe you are in the middle of the city and no network, you can only get this problem with VODAFONE!!!! such as disgrace, misleading the customers by false advertisement and sponsoring cricket to misguide common man.

Vodafone's network keeps dropping out on me, when im in my room when im in the car or when im walking or standing still. I was in a very important interview with William Angliss Institute over the phone and suddenly within the last few moments of the interview I was cut off completely. Not only is this bad PR for Vodafone but its completely embarrassing for me because I had to mention that it was the networks fault for being rude and being the reason why I was cut off. Not to mention when i was complaining about the network to the customer service, what do you think happened? my coverage was cut off again then I rang again and had to wait a further 40 mins because of the phone waiting period. Then they had the nerve to blame it on my Blackberry and asked the network coverage is mostly likely due to your handheld.... no its not its your own coverage.... they are seriously screwed.

1984 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is below par at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:38 AM
Since upgrading to a touch-screen smart phone, I'm surprised how many people I've spoken to about how poor the data performance is on Vodafone, in and around Melbourne. I know people with Android (HTD), Windows, Apple and Nokia smart phones and are all on Vodafone and the performance is just expected to be less than average.
I've since started working with several people using the same phones on the Telstra network and performance and coverage is between 2-5 times better at all times.
3 months left of a Vodafone contract and I'll be switching away, for good.

1977 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is serious at 27 Dec 2010 11:18:47 AM
No problem now, but two months ago I was in and around Perth, WA, and found the connection speed from my prepaid Vodafone 3G USB stick to be little better than dial-up. Service was acceptable in Collie and adequate in Margaret River, but the thing was totally useless in Perth.
27 Dec 2010 11:35:55 AM: Not actually a reply, since I posted the original, but just extra info.
When travelling through the SW corner of WA, I had a Vodafone 3G USB modem connecting via a NetComm wireless travel router. I also had a 3Gs iPhone & and a 3G iPad, both connected to Telstra. There were no problems with the Telstra coverage, but the Vodafone coverage was virtually non-existant in Perth.

1970 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Constant Call Drop Outs at 27 Dec 2010 11:17:09 AM
I have to hop around my house at night just to make the call connect. As soon as I find a place where there is sufficient signal (which is usually standing one foot on the top of my work desk and one foot on the top of the edge of my couch), I constantly endure 'fade outs' where the call drops. I am too embarrassed to keep telling the people that I am talking to that I keep missing huge chunks of what they are saying and just have to pretend that I heard everything/hope that they keep talking so as not to notice. It's bad Vodafone. Please address the issue.

They were overcharging me for four months. I called several times and was on hold for over half an hour before hanging up. Emailed the complaints page on their website one month ago and no response. Finally today I used the call back function on the automated telephone system. I did receive a call back and problem solved. It seems like they have engaged in some outsourcing because "Michael" who I spoke to was not from Australia. At least they are trying to solve the problem.

The hassle, the constant phone calls with authorisations, and after i was told it was done, i actually was never done at all..nothing was ever done... 5 months down the track still nothing so i refused to pay my bill until it was done. I have now a pre paid service and the reception drops out weekly - messages are not received on time and the constant call drop out and bad reception make this the john west reject..what happened? When my phone states that i have full reception i can only ring emergency numbers then all of a sudden i will have 1 bar of reception and no ability to use my phone at all. This can happen anywhere up to twice a day sometimes more. Sometimes it is fixed in under 5 mins but there have been times when it has stuffed up for hours on end not good when i have a bipolar 13yr old and a 1 yr old son that need my ability to use my phone. I can handle my msg's taking forever to get to me but i need the ability to call someone incase something happens to my kids. It is becoming a joke honestly

1942 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is THE WORST! at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:53 AM
Okay I have been with three for a long time and had decent reception, but now my reception is sh*thouse! and when i do have reception i am roaming (in areas that clearly should be and are 3G areas!!!) and the fees for calling in a roaming area are actually ridiculous.

And also, whilst technically I am still with 'three' it was PROMISED to my mum that if she renewed her cap and signed up with Vodaphone the calls would be free (the free minutes)

however i still continue to be charged for calling my mum thats on Vodaphone from my vodaphone/3 sim, instead of the minutes being deducted from the free minutes as told!!! grrrr. stop charging me $3 for 2minute calls that you said are free?? with no fixing?? get your heads on!!!
27 Dec 2010 11:23:34 AM: You need to be on 3's new cap plans to get free calls to Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 12:45:17 PM: Ok your mum got what she was promised free calls to you and anyone else on 3 and Vodafone where as you who haven't resigned or changed your rate plan would be on your original terms and conditions and just get free minutes to people on 3 so maybe you should get your head on and actually think about it. You can do a rate plan change to the new terms and conditions without lengthening your contract term by making a call to customer care.

I signed up to 3 a year and a bit ago and they always had wonderful coverage and fast internet, but we all unwillingly got changed to vodafone when they merged and now I'm hating on everything! Half the time I have almost no reception, occasionally it will decide to have some but then it goes again! The internet is very temperamental, and needs to be in exactly the right spot to work at all.
Something needs to be done! I think especially 3 customers who had no choice in this should be able to break contracts so we can get a decent provider..
27 Dec 2010 11:04:16 AM: As mentioned above the networks are still separate, the only way you would have been changed to Vodafones network would be if you requested it and resigned a contract. They wouldn't have just moved you over.

Signed up for a USB wifi modem with Vodafail about 5 months ago and had terrible reception, way too slow to watch videos, often dropping out and just not connecting at all for hours in Bentleigh. Also found that I cannot plug the USB diectly into my mac or it just freezes the computer. When I use it on my pc, if it goes into sleep mode, I can't reconnect to the internet without shutting down the entire computer. Also can't start the computer with USB stick plugged in or it crashes.
After a couple of months the stick just wouldn't connect at all. We took it into the shop and got a temporary one which didn't crash our computers. When we received a permanent replacement (a completely new USB stick) it crashes our computers the same way the old one did. We went back to the store and they said there was nothing they could do as it was a new stick and should just work.

Thanks Vodafone.

I could not get the internet to work when i first joined vodafone back in June 2009. I downloaded the settings on-line installled them on my phone and followed all the instructions, yet it wouldn't work.

I tried calling the help line, but after being on hold for 20 minutes the call would drop out and i would be placed right back in the front of the queue again. This happened about 3 times across different days.

I tried going into a store, to only receive attitude from the staff who were completely disinterested as i wasn't buying. All they did was tell me to call the customer support.

I called customer support and got through. All the operator did was send the settings to my phone again, which i installed again and yet still didn't work.

I tried logging a request on the online support platform that vodafone have. Still no luck.

I tried calling vodafone and simply asking for some step-by-step instructions to change the settings my self. I finally reached an operator who understood my exasperation and put me through to the support. After speaking to someone who did mot understand english i was put through to an operator who finally solved my problem. My account did not have internet activated, despite me requesting it on the application form i completed.

I don't understand why Vodafone make it so hard to help their customers. Vodafone have serious issues in terms of the culture in there organisation. It is completely customer service averse.

Patchy coverage in innercity Melbourne, calls dropping out and very slow data. Plus the appalling service from the automated telephone system. I have also had bill paying problems when I was charged twice in 2009 when I tried to pay my bill via the phone. I also love the wY they charge when I am on global roaming. I live in East Melbourne - I see the skyline of the city not 200m from my open balcony. Yet do I get reception? Nope.

For a year now I've been manually turning off 3G when I get home. The EDGE network at least gave me bars to make and receive calls at home.

Time was when I'd re-enable 3G when I went out: no more. Why bother, when you can't actually use the internet connection? The bars are there but attempting to browse is a fruitless exercise.

Now, to add insult to injury, I no longer get a signal at all. "No Service", it says, unless I actually walk out on to the balcony. I'm in central Melbourne, for god's sake.

I moved to an office in Fitzroy a month ago. Guess what I get, sitting at my desk? Correct. No service.

If Vodafone spent half of their advertising budget on their network we'd all be in a better place. They should be forced to put a bar on new customer registrations until they've fixed their core infrastructure.

Disgusting, Vodafone.

I purchased an iphone 4 only 2 months ago mostly to send and receive emails. I have been unable to do this from day 1. Today Vodafail finally admitted that there is a significant issue and iphone customers cannot send email via the Vodafail network and have been unable to do so for 3 months!!! Continual call drop outs and data speed slower than dial up in a outback isn't helping their cause either.

3 is no better from what I am hearing.

27 Dec 2010 11:20:49 AM: I am not associated with Vodafone and am an IT consultant. Before making a statement like that, we should know your email settings first to see if they are configured correctly, ie outgoing smtp server, authentication etc.
I noticed that sometimes emails work when switching to 2G. For Vodafone you should have smtp.vodafone.net.au, port 25, if your using secure smtp on port 587 you should be ok with other smtp servers. I use google apps with my domain and do not have problems sending and receiving except for when I am in a poor signal area. Alos make sure your APN is set to vfinternet.au Hope this helps.

I've got a Nokia N8... and guess what... VODAFONE IS STILL EQUALLY AS USELESS.
27 Dec 2010 11:26:00 AM: Why discriminate against indian people?
If the person were australian then you would call him an annoying australian.

No covergae in most of South Gippsland Victoria including Leongatha, Sandy Point, Wilsons Prom. With 3 I had none of these issues; I was out of contact completely for 5 days and trying to run a business!

Living in metropolitan melbourne you think I will be able to connect to internet immediately. Try something like 15-30mins to get a line - PATHETIC. Thank goodness I only have 5 months of contract left and I will definately pay more and go to telstra where I can have service

I spent Boxing Day at the MCG. If you think the performance of the Aussie team was bad, the Vodafone performance was even worse. I tried to MMS photos, send texts, update my FB account and tweet from the ground with very little success! Two major disappointments in one day ...

I've been with Vodafone for quite a few years. My phone often doesn't ring & I receive a voicemail message straight away. Seems like I'm having to pay for voicemail instead of simply receiving a call! I have also simply stopped receiving texts, particularly picture messages.

1769 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is bloody frustrating! at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:23 AM
Stupidly i have mobile phone and mobile broadband with Vodafone. Usually it takes about 5 to 10 mins to get connected to the broadband but lately it doesnt work AT ALL!! Have been in touch with em and aparantly they're investagating (yeah whateva) a possible faulty tower which is about 400m from my house.

Also my mobile phone doesnt work at home any more (probably the tower also). When i use it outside of my surburban home it is rare to get all the way through a call without it dropping out atleast once or twice. GRRRRRRRRR HATE
I will be definetly be wanting some compensation as i am paying money for a service which is virtually non-existant!

I'm with Crazy Johns, after having been with Vodafone for 2yrs & hating it! However, I found out AFTER I changed to CJ's that Vodafone is their carrier! My CJ plan is now ended THANK GOODNESS and I'll be switching to Telstra.. much though I dislike Telstra, at least I'll get coverage.. with Vodafone I couldn't even get reception in my own home!!!!!! This NEVER happened when I was with Optus (prior to switching to Vodafone).

I am with three and wondering if these complaints and law suit also relate to the 3 network as they are now one and the same. I often have reception issues with 3 as well as slow downloads.
27 Dec 2010 09:43:41 AM: I think you're onto something, I think everything went downhill after the merger with 3.
27 Dec 2010 10:14:50 AM: I was wondering the same thing. I was Perfectly happy with 3's service ( hqve been a customer with them for 5 years)and had perfect 3G reception at my house (40kms west of Sydney) and in the cbd. Since the merger with voda my phone has struggled to make phone calls at these locations and many more not being able to access 3G where I previously. This isn't what I signed up for!
27 Dec 2010 10:43:02 AM: It is because 3 does not roam on the telstra network anymore instead they use voda....good luck

1751 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is extreme at 27 Dec 2010 09:23:23 AM
was with vodafone for 18 months with constant call drop outs, they made me go into store and change sim card 5 times, it didn't change a thing once. Live 10km from CBD and had minimal coverage in our house, contacted vodafone about this they said they couldn't do an investigation on the reception as their service to do so was down... this happened 3 times I then switched to Telstra (which I am extremely happy with to this point, coverage is unbelievable, full reception everywhere, and no messy incorrect bills) then vodafone sent a disconnection fee and said it applied as I never got an investigation done on the reception issues, though their service to do so was down... I have called them for the past 3 months and been told they would call me back within a week, not once have I received a call back, emailed through their website, support said they can not help... but this is my fault?? trying to charge someone a fee because the service you are supplying is faulty does not fly very well..... vodaFAIL indeed

1743 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is utter at 27 Dec 2010 09:11:47 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer for some years. One year ago I changed to a $59 dollar cap plan. Bad idea. Constant dropout, including whilst on the phone to Vodafone trying to get it fixed. No Range outside of Melbourne. Finally got this fixed after some months by visiting a Vodafone store and taking nearly an hour. Then recently hit with a bill FOUR TIMES bigger than normal for going over the plan limit (by less than half!). Got a useless guy on the phone after a half hour wait who wouldn't explain anything and just keep reciting my call log back to me. Seriously. Phoned back again a week later and spoke with a more helpful guy who said he would put me on a better value plan. And then the phone dropped out. Website and 'My Vodafone' also completely useless.

1715 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is disgusting at 27 Dec 2010 08:42:56 AM
My mobile broadband is excruciatingly slow in all the places I need to use it - my home, my work and uni. When I can even get service on it, it frequently drops out and is barely faster than dialup. My Telstra 3G iPhone is always 5/5 bars and I've taken to tethering it than using my vodafone "broadband".

This company is a disgrace and I encourage anyone considering them to save themselves the trouble and just stump up for Telstra.

1708 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is iPhone coverage poor at 27 Dec 2010 08:37:17 AM
My iPhone constantly drops coverage - has been even worse the last week and having heaps of problems even sending sms. Was at the cricket at MCG yesterday and was unable to even take calls - thinking of changing back to Telstra
27 Dec 2010 09:03:41 AM: Sorry, but it is not uncommon at any sporting event to have issues making or receiving calls, SMS etc on ANY network. The repeaters become over-subscribed due to the high concentration of people in the one area. Same thing happens on Christmas Day and especially on New Year's Eve. Not ideal but it is what it is. Emergency calls will still get priority on the networks.

Telstra are pirates. Be wary of changing to them. Their customer service is lousy and they still operate as if they are a monopoly.
27 Dec 2010 09:37:55 AM: Interesting, I was at the cricket yesterday and phoned out several times throughout the day with Telstra and not a problem. Like I explain to most of my friends, you get what you pay for. Telstra are slightly more expensive but in 3 years and 3 HTC phones later no problems. Monopoly or not, they provide me with an excellent service. I also travel far and wide with work and NEVER have reception issues!
27 Dec 2010 10:31:55 AM: Telstra definitely has the better network coverage but still have black spots, same as the others, even in regional areas.
27 Dec 2010 11:56:41 AM: Not true to the first reply. On the two occassions I have called Telstra (during the day), I have been speaking to a human within 10 minutes. On both occassions my minor problems were resolved quickly and efficiently - and one call was re-directed to an Indian call center but still resolved (at least she didn't try and pretend she was in Ausralia - that shits me). In my one year back using the big T, I have been more than satisfied with all aspects of their service.

I live on a hill in North Balwyn, Victoria. Should have some of the best coverage in Melbourne. Vodafone us unusable. I regularly get "one bar" on my vodafone phone and "five bars" on my Telstra phone in my other hand. I just got out. Its hopeless - so I dont even try in regional areas.

1693 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mobile 3 Wireless Internet at 27 Dec 2010 08:26:13 AM
While staying at the Berwick East Motel I was unable to use my wireless intenet I have with 3. I was able to log onto a strong signal but could not access the www. I rang 3 and got through almost instantly. I was asked for my post code which was 3151 and told that area had a tech problem and being restored. It did not happen during the week i stayed there and had to purchase daily the Motels wireless internet as I had to run my business. I then moved my gear across the Road to the branch office and it worked perefectly. Post code there 3151 also?
