26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2752 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No reception and drop outs at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:14 PM
I fought Vodafone over reception issues and drop outs for 5 months in Harris Park, NSW. They were claiming network is in perfect condition and no issues are reported. I went to the Telecommunication Ombudsman and I got out of the contract with in a week with no penalty because I showed them 3 days in a row drop outs and no connection available. Their customer relation person was very cooperative. Any issues you have with phone companies please call Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman on 1800 062 058 or log a call online at http://www.tio.com.au/ and they usualy get back to you in few days with information who to contact at Vodafone i Australia and you will have dedicated Relationship manager to fix the problem and offer you solution benefitial to you.

I'm not I just think everyone should get over it, i've been with vodafone for years and have never had a problem. If there is a problem I just read that Vodafone has acknowledged it. So let them fix it instead of carrying on. This is why there is so much crap in the world cause people dont shut up
27 Dec 2010 02:28:04 PM: And Vodafone paid you how much to post here?
27 Dec 2010 02:30:13 PM: Why should we "shut up" when we pay for a service we expect to get it! i have learnt that not speaking up does NOT get you anywhere! We deserve better and we will get better!!

2733 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Gigantic FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 02:12:47 PM
I have been having problems with my Vodafone internet connection for 18 months now - I have given up complaining to them since each time I called I was told I'd just have to wait until the connection was working again. MAJOR fail since I often work from home and because of Vodafone I cant always submit projects by their due dates - try explaining that to angry clients! I don't think it's asking too much to expect a service I'm paying for to actually work. As soon as my contract expires I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I had been with vodafone for nearly 2 years, the last year has been awful with reception and calls dropping out i have contacted vodafone after being on hold for nearly 2 hours and they didnt think it was a issue, they said they would try and see what they could do for me and get back to me within 72 hours. They didn't call back so i called them and waited on hold again! then they told me they still hadnt resolved the problem so i wanted out of my contract and i had still had 4 months to go so i went to telstra and transferred my number to them have great reception but still have to pay an early termination fee to vodafone WHAT A JOKE!!!!

ok where do I start.... I purchased a plan whereby I can make phone calls, I cant make phone calls ... on a regular basis, the drop out rate is legendary, I am forced most of the time .. not sometimes.. most of the time to call back 3 - 4 times during a short conversation to continue a BUSINESS call. UNACCEPTABLE! 60 % of the time I try to call and the line will not connect! WTF
My texts can sometimes arrive 3 days late! when I send them sometimes 4 days later they turn up..the billing system is in a constant state of crazyness whereby I am forced to call the customer care (laughable) every billing cycle to sort out OVERCHARGING of my account! to bve then told dont worry Ill sort it out for you now.... sorry ... it never gets sorted - one issue bleeds into the next VODAPHONE IM OVER YOU - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER .. IN the mean time I want you to take my stupid phone back and reimburse me ..

after experiencing very regular drop outs and quite often little or no coverage in areas that should have it ( other telcos have outstanding coverage in the areas). I rang up yesterday to cancel my contract.... ( 10 months to go) i figured with the lack of coverage and my ever increasing bill that i cant explain its best to cut my losses and leave... and what do you think their response was from the call centre OS ???? they either didnt want to, or didnt have the capacity, to try and keep me as a valued customer. Very disappointed as i have been a loyal customer for som 10 years. i am over vodafone and have since moved to another telco. i will pursue this issue as the treatment i received was not dserving.

Too many fails to connect specially under buildings and call drops all the time lately. Coverage is very poor in the last 3 to 4 months. My blackberry Curve 9300 just don't work from time to time at all and Vodafone support told me to take out SIM and battery and replace it back to make it work again, so I have to do that ever since (very painful and not good at all). In the past 2 months, my service keeps dropping out and takes at least 10 minutes to reconnect to the network.. Not to mention my phone keeps failing to work properly... Too bad if I had an emergency or an important phone call!! And of course, Vodafone are extremely quick to cut off my service if I haven't paid my bill on time, however, having so many problems with my phone and reception isn't really keeping their end of the deal at all!... Someone needs to pull their finger out and fix this ASAP!.. Thank you Adam for starting this page to make me feel better, but I will only feel better when Voda fix their issues!

thanks vodafone for having my head ripped off from my national sales manager after she had tried calling me (of course i had no reception and the calls went straight to message bank) she eventually got through to me late afternoon after leaving me 4 voice mail messages, which I swore I had not received-she found this very hard to believe. 3 days later her voice messages came through. Thanks vodafone. Thank you also for leaving me on hold 6 times now for periods of up to an hour and thats with me giving up-god knows how long until you would have answered. I have a business and it often cuts out at critical times. There is no signal at alot of jobs that I am on. As soon as I get in the car and drive a bit I find that I get backed up messages on message bank. I have irate customers who can't get through to me all day. In addition to my tiling business I have an online store and I guarantee that where people can't get through to me they have gone with another tiler or bought from another store. I am losing alot of business with this very basic and limited service from Vodafone. I certainly did not sign up for this and I do not want this.

I have complained numerous times over the past year. Been given so Many sim cards, I can decorate a tree. I did complain to ombudsman but was referred back to vodafail. At wits end I bought a telstra sim card & use that most of the time.

2696 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst phone company we've ever been with at 27 Dec 2010 02:02:36 PM
We joined Vodaphone in March 09 after being assured that we would get good phone coverage as we are in a rural area. After two months of VERY bad reception we went back to Vodaphone to complain only to be told TOUGH is would cost us to get out of the contract. We have put up with it ever since waiting for our contract to expire in March 2011. I was in Goulburn recently with my husband and we got separated and I was uncontactable even though I was within 500 metres of my husband. I experience the same when I visit my son in Nowra, I have no reception AT ALL. Quite often I have to go and stand in the middle of the street to be able to make a call or to send a message and we have had enough! Last year when my daughter had her second baby my text messages took 12 hours to reach family members! We will be leaving Vodaphone as soon as possible to go with a reliable phone company!

Thank you for your online complaint to the Telecommunications IndustryOmbudsman (TIO). Your TIO Reference Number is 10/261036. Please refer to this number in all correspondence with the TIO. Their is no constant signal on my phone, also their is no Vodafone Tower in Coffs Harbour,I have had a number of complaints to the TIO about the service, Just try puting a complaint to Vodafone through their phone service, it is impossible, here is an example of their service. Dear Sir or Madame,Regarding my phone account with Vodafone, seem I cannot get through on their answering service in this number 1300 650 410 I get to the point where it keeps saying Hang on they will be with you in a moment and that goes on for hours with no further reply, I just wanted to know why my MSS messages are not receiving or sending on their premium service. I am on prepaid and lost a lot of business through their service.

Both in Abbotsford Sydney and at the south coast Gerringong there is no coverage. Vodafone does not answer its call for hours then states they will call back and dont. When you call they say the problem is resolved with resolving it. They send you to the store and the store sends you back to customer "Service". The ACCC doesnt want to know. Vodafone keeps misrepresenting their services. Their webpage is not working. They disabled PC to TEXT. Their billing is not working. Its Onetell again. DONT PAY YOUIR ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU GET THE SERVICE YOU PAID FOR.

Fixed term contract on an Apple 3GS which is now out of warranty and has started to fail, add to that the $69.00 per Month Contract, plus crap coverage, and when sending SMS messages it sometimes takes 8 hours for the recipient to get it. What Garbage, ONETEL was much better than Vodafone, or should I say VODACRAP. I want out immediately, and I want to be part of the Class Action Law Suit against Vodafone, and want to recover ever cent put into this service since JULY 2009.

2674 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst Ever at 27 Dec 2010 01:57:51 PM
Transferred 5 business mobiles to Vodafone from Optus. The business is centrally located in Australia's 3rd largest CBD, Parramatta Sydney. When I complained of constant dropouts I was told that it was because of my new iPhone 3GS. Funnily enough I had bought that outright from Voda at Christmas 09. When I suggested that perhaps the Nokia N95 8GB could be better, they agreed wholeheartedly. Nonetheless, I received deafening silence when I indicated that my whole team had that phone and was no better. Subsequently, I had to pay the remaining 12 months of the 24 month contract out as it was costing me more in business reputation terms never being able to contact me. To add injury to insult, Voda continued to ring me in the months after to expand my business with them. Total cost of payout - $3500. NOT HAPPY!
27 Dec 2010 02:01:48 PM: Ask for that money back.
27 Dec 2010 02:30:45 PM: I am intending to now there is a critical mass of people voicing their concerns (not over their phones though as we could never connect!)

2672 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is basketcase at 27 Dec 2010 01:57:10 PM
Both prepaid phone [nearly 10yrs] and broadband [1 year]- actual coverage doesn't meet advertised coverage, always poor connection if any at all on both with frequent drop outs, customer service near impossible to contact; when I do after always 30mins wait, record 1h 24mins,Too many times I have been fobbed off and lied to, made promises that are not kept, escalated level Support has not rang back at all yet alone within 48h or 72h promised, Have over 1000 txt in credit but cannot send text at all with error message when a/c balance low [Problem 4 mths],missed calls not registering, incoming calls not ringing, get to listen to other peoples calls when It rings me for no reason.Frequently bb speed less than 10kbs if at all, software malfunctions and crashes, as does the modem, and both frequently have to be deleted and reinstalled. A/c notifications by SMS ceased arriving, and V says I cancelled them[ more Bull]
By all reports from IT people I have spoken to, the Vodabone-of-contention is massively overcrowded, and continues to take on more and more customers without buying more airwave space.
over and over operators reply to these problems with 'that must be inconvenient' and I have tried to explain to them that having to put up with what is proven to be bare-faced lies is not inconvenient, its dishonest, rude, insulting and abusive.

Has anyone noticed that the big doozy fibs occur always after your pleasant and genuinely trying operator consults with a supervisor? If the supervisor requires their staff to lie, are not their lies corporately generated?
Might that not alone indicate that Vodafraud is not a fit and proper organisation to hold a frequency band license for telecoms in this country, It should be cancelled and the bandwidth given over to an organisation that manages its service provision, customer support, even its marketing, with a level of integrity that matches its Spin.
I invite the responsible Minister Sen Conroy and his Dept. to stop sitting on their hands, and subject this Telcon to a blowtorch.

This year has been a nightmare, every call would drop out after 1 minute of conversating, during the conversation I would be asking "are you there" if there was silence as this was a regular occurance during the conversation.
I need my phone for my biz as it is 24 hours 7 days and i have had customers actually telling me to get a new phone.
I then have another problem with voicemails, i receive them sometimes 2 days later.

I tried to call a number in FYR Macedonia many times and each time I never
got the right person, it just diverted to some other country sometimes I'd
have a Spanish speaking person, sometimes a totally different number in Macedonia. This went on for weeks. Everytime I tried to explain to Vodafone
they passed it off as one of my imaginations. Yet with every phone call I was
charged. Even if the other number did not pick up I was still charged for the call. Here in Sydney my reception is contiously dropping out as I'm talking and people get very fed up with me. Sometimes txts arrive the next day, I've had one arrive 3 months after it was sent from Dubai.

First time i was on hold for 2 and a half hours, to then have the operator tell me I'M lucky that they answered my phone call. Second time calling was on hold for 1 hour and 45 mins, only to be told that if i wanted to cancel my contract that i have had for 4 days i would need to pay the full contract outright of $1080. What annoys me is Vodaphone knew there were problems when all these customers were calling up with the same complaints. Instead of admitting it they let us think it was something wrong with the phone or something we were doing when they knew full well that it was the network. That for me is the most criminal part.

Have been with '3' for over 4 years but when I renewed my contract in November I was switched over to Vodafone. Not only do my calls keep falling out (yesterday 5 times on one call) but everbody I speak to tells me "you're breaking up" or "I can only hear every 2nd word". PLUS they failed to inform me that a call to Directory Assistance is $2.60, not inlcuded in cap and even voicemail retrieval is not in the cap. So my first month on the $49 cap has cost me $80. I feel totally ripped off.

2643 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is disgusting service and technical support at 27 Dec 2010 01:52:19 PM
Getting ready to travel to Europe and went into the VODAFONE stone in the QVB where I asked for my iPhone 3 to be unlocked so I could use a prepaid European sim card. I was assured it would be cheaper to unlock my sim card to INTERNATIONAL roamer. They used quite clever sales terms like 'only pay $1.50 for the 1st minute, and then standard call charges after that'. What that little PR*&K didn't tell me was that it was INTERNAL STANDARD CALL CHARGES which was RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE.
After I expressed that i didn't want this product, HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING [if any] went out the window as I was quickly dismissed and ushered out of the store with a website . Followed the instructions on vodafone.com.au/unlock with no success. 4 days later (day before my trip), I've been transfer to about 4 different departments and been on the phone for the past 52 minutes [oh yes im keeping track] with no solution in sight.

This is just a recent issue after 2 years of drop outs, delayed voicemail - SMS's and MMS', no service (standing near the VODAFONE CORPORATE OFFICES) rude and outrageous customer service (who tells a customer to shut up? THANKS QVB VODAFONE STORE!)

If anyone could tell me how and what terminology to use to exit my contract i would greatful.

27 Dec 2010 02:02:24 PM: Happened to me last July, Signed up and the phone bill went from the average $ 50.- cap to $ 450.- despite hardly using the mobile overseas. Vodafone was ok. They credited most of the amount in dispute. Actually, the reception and Network coverage was better overseas than what it is here near a Vodafone tower :-)

i have been a vodafone customer for 10years, but renuied my contract 18months ago. in the last month i have had so many problems with them. to make a phone call or 2 send a msg or 2 recieve phone calls or msgs i need 2 turn my phone off and on again at least 3 times, i also have a business and since having these problems and no customers being able 2 contact me on my mobile has resulted in the loss of greater than $100,000.00 to my business.
last night i needed 2 take my daughter and her son to the hospital when the car broke down on the way there and thanks 2 this bad service got stuck for hours coz i couldnt get into contact with anybody 2 help us.
every time i ring vodafone 2 make a complaint they just keep saying they will call me back and never do and it is getting extremely frustrating, when u owe them money they r quick 2 ring u and get what they want.
27 Dec 2010 10:11:17 PM: thats exactly why i refuse to pay my bills there dreaming if they think im not going to call back in the morning and abuse them once again
27 Dec 2010 10:13:52 PM: when they compinsate me for all the money i have lost for being with them during these problems then i will pay them their measally couple of $100

2640 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Darwin Award! at 27 Dec 2010 01:51:42 PM
Vodafone guaranteed me unlimited free calls to another vodafone number of my choice. After signing up with them they assured me that the vodafone "best mate" free calls were active on my account to the number which i had chosen. Because I am a diligent person I repeatedly tried to check up on my account balance but the service, which is guaranteed in the contract, was unavailable for days on end. When i finally got to check my account i found that my balance was in the RED! This was because they did not activate the best mate properly. This problem happened repeatedly for the next 3 months. Everytime I called customer service I spoke to someone from overseas who tried to convince me that I would have to pay for the calls which in my contract were specified as free. The ridiculous attempts by vodafone customer service to directly deny the rights and remedies granted to consumers by the Trade Practices Act is something which needs to be addressed by the ACCC. To anyone who knows that voda has ripped them off and you are having trouble with customer service state to them that to deny your right to refund is a direct breach of section 53(g) of the Trade Practices Act. Vodafone makes money of a lot of these supposed 'mistakes' in your bill, processing of information, call drop outs, and misinformation provided by its customer service call centres. It is my suspicion that vodafone management is aware that these 'mistakes' make them money and they implement systems and policies which do not attempt to rectify these mistakes and make it difficult for customers to seek refunds.

Perhaps a new idea for Adam Brimo: VodaLeaks! Where employees on the inside of vodafone can speak out about any unethical practices which they are aware of within the organisation!

Call drop outs, no reception, sporadic connection to internet. Can't wait to switch to another telco ... I keep getting told by customer service reps that they are merging with the 3 network and coverage will improve. This is after waiting for nearly 2 hours on the phone. I am regretting the day that i let them con me into renewing my contract with the lure of a free handset. As soon as I did, the problems started. And the Nokia phone they sent me is not the one i was promised!

Send MMS to friends for them to not recieve them and then I still get charged for it? What a joke. Also I don't receive my Voicemail messages until the next day? What's the point of that? Get your act together Vodafone, don't you make enough millions of $ in profit a year to keep to your word and be a reliable phone company? *sigh*

2631 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is badly at 27 Dec 2010 01:49:21 PM
Been with Vodafone now for 4 months and was waiting for the so-called software bugs to be fixed, but nothing has changed. I'm having bad reception at home (despite being within the boundaries of their coverage map, at least for GSM & Edge), constant call drop-outs everywhere despite bars on my iPhone showing good signal strength and often even 3G availability. In inner city areas like Newtown (Sydney) there is often no reception at all and (above ground) train rides are notorious for lack of network connectivity. 3G overall is a joke; even in the city and areas where a strong signal is indicated it's pretty useless; there's often no data reception at all.

Just put my name down to potentially join the class action against the company, plus gonna lodge a complaint with the Ombudsman and will try to get out of contract and get compensation.

My problem with Vodafone is the customer service. For one simple issue I tried to call them for one week and still was not able to speak to a human being to solve my problem except waithng on hold for up to 1 hour at one time only to find out my call was cut off by "lara". I hate her!!! It should not always be about making more and more. I want to be able to speak to a customer service representative instead this computer bitch called "Lara".

2620 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Abysmal at 27 Dec 2010 01:47:21 PM
We're a business who's been with vodaphone for 3 years. We've got 20 phones through their service via a reseller. In the last 4 to 5 months, drop outs and poor coverage have become increasingly problematic. At least one in every two is cut off during the call.

With recent inquiries via the reseller, they admitted that there was a failed software upgrade with 3G which caused widespread issues across the vodaphone network. We're in discussions with the reseller to end our contract prematurely which they seem to believe will not be an issue. We suggest people force the point to end their contracts without penalty.

If you complain via email you get a standard automated response after a few days saying sorry for the delay and we assume because we have been so long in replying you have fixed the problem another way by now! This has happened to me twice. My Vodafone to Vodafone minutes do not work, the time is taken from my outstanding pre-paid credit.

i live in rouse hill and i travel along old windsor rd to parramatta then from parramatta to burwood everyday.

should have pretty good coverage huh? not really. there is a 5km stretch on old windsor rd where i have no service and for the rest of the trip its laughable.

get into parramatta and i can sit there and wait for a page to load when i surf the web. fair enoough im gonna wait when im using 3g, but im talking minutes for a simple lightweight page.

im sick of it and i want out. i pay good money for a service i dont get.
27 Dec 2010 03:34:12 PM: yes rouse hill is the WORST area!!!
27 Dec 2010 05:19:58 PM: could not agree more. I asked when I went into Voda phone if they covered Kellyville because I had no signal with previous provider. They checked their "maps" and "Yes you have full coverage". No coverage, gave up complaining because they came up with every excuse under the sun, so have had to reconnect land line so i have a phone at home
28 Dec 2010 12:32:35 AM: Norwest Business Park is crap also, so much for doing business in a business district on vodafone!
28 Dec 2010 06:24:46 AM: Try Punchbowl too... looks like nowhere has service
28 Dec 2010 05:29:04 PM: Go further up Windsor Road - Kurrajong, Blaxlands Ridge, Glossodia - ALL laughable coverage!! YET when they sell you the plans they say... FULL COVERAGE!
28 Dec 2010 05:36:22 PM: I'm on the 15th floor of an office towe in the middle of Sydney CBD and can guarantee that my coverage reception is as poor as anything in Rouse HIll or alaong Windsor Road. I've even been as high as level 42 in our building with little improvement. When I finally escalated my complaints to Vodafone's Telecommunication Industry Ombudsmen department, the customer service rep had to ask for my land line number as she had previously attempted to call me 3times (striaght through to voicemail) and felt the the current call was breaking up so badly that she was going to drop out.
28 Dec 2010 08:55:51 PM: yes, i agreed with yoou all. I live in Rouse Hill/Stanhope here & my fone dropped out every single time I have a fone call. VODAFONE is so suck!!!

2610 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is not good at 27 Dec 2010 01:45:52 PM
bought new phone in freemantle after forgetting my phone, after having my partner call policeearlier after thinking I something had happened to me when I hadn't phone and she was unable to call me. Turns out I was thirty minutes off being placed as missing person, my family had been informed something had happened and had faxed through photos to police. My mum has bad heart condition and it was three days later before her heart started to calm. This was due to no optus signal, I was told by vodafone that I would have no problems anywhere in NSW and in fact australi in general. I was also promised 100 free text and free internet for 6 weeks, I was charged from start for services I didn't want. I should have known better after door to store was opened 10 minutes late and then when opened sales lady let door slam in my face, no apology. She also wrote wrong number down for new phone and I passed on this number to friends and employees of mine that might need to contact me.

Returning to NSW found signal not as I was told and travelling through NSW no signal, have bought a Terlstra phone but am stuck with vodafone contract that they won;t release., have tried ringing them many times but all I do is waste excessive amounts of time and end up getting nowhere.

Inability to contact me was costing me money so had to get telstra phone.;

I pay $79 a month... and I have no network? What a joke. So when the call drops out, I have to redial and what to you know? Another connection fee. Really f#$king disappointed. Oh and just to add to more insult they have done something to my login on their website so now I can't check my usage. I've been putting up with Vodafail for 2 years now. At home on the Northern Beach, my iPhone constantly drops out. I work in the city, with uninterrupted views over the harbour, and struggle to get a signal. When I'm travelling on the bus through the CBD, there are black spots everywhere. Every single time I look at my phone it has the message telling me I've got no signal. I'll be switching over to another provider early in the new year when I get a new work phone. I'll never use Vodafail again. It's unbelievable how bad they are.

Since purchasing my ipone back in April, my phone has gone back for repairs twice. It is not the phone that is the problem, it is the provider.Unfortunately I am stuck with Vodafone for another year as I have a 2 year contract.

Texts are extremely slow to be received by someone else also on a Vodafone network!
They only appear a few hours later or the next day!

I used to be able to talk to customer service within Australia and not have to wait that long.
Its the longest wait in the world to talk to someone that sounds like they are in India or China!
Can't understand a word they are saying with their thick accent or would have to use simple terms and/or words to explain the issue or problem.

Been with vodafone for years, moved to 3G cos it was the latest "Thing" absolute disaster, they ended up cancelling my contract but still charged me $932 or something for the phone.

Moved back to vodafone and was with them once again for years, always happy with them, was on the one month contract thing.
Then Vodafone called me and offered me a new phone for signing a contract, i thought about it and thought well, it is convenient, i dont have the money but is about time for a new phone.

Untill this point, i had always provided my own phone.

When they called back the next day i said yes, deal was done and first phone they sent was a heap of crap, keep missing all my incoming calls and have to call everyone back which caused me to go over my cap, next phone they sent had exactly the same issue's and almost went over my cap again, and lost a lot of business cos i couldnt afford to call people back.....

Third phone they sent me worked well, used it for 3 months then started having issues, so now use a phone my mate gave me.

Now i use a phone that has just as many issues as the one i had and im stuck with a contract.

Cant wait for Contract to end so i can move over to ACN

2571 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme! at 27 Dec 2010 01:35:52 PM
2 years ago, I decided to get a new phone on contract with vodaphone (my previous phone was stolen after my house was robbed...btw, it was also under a vodafail contract and they wouldn't redeem the insurance that had been paid for over the last one and a half years because a crook climbing through an already broken window and taking things is apparently my fault and is considered as me 'leaving my phone in a public place'.)

But I digress. I went on the cheapest plan at the time, which was something like $49. I knew I could easily pay it even though I was only working weekends. After a few days, I relish in the amazing (at the time) web browser on the phone. I didn't want to go too much over the $49 cap so I used it very sparringly, thinking that the downloads would cost the same as other companies (12c p/mb). I literally downloaded one song and checked my facebook twice a day but never looked at pictures or made posts.

A month later, my first bill comes in and it's $578. That's a lot of money when you're a 19 year old student.

I promptly called vodaphone and soon found out that they were actually charging me 12c per KILOBYTE! It takes 8kb for google to load up on my phones browser so that's about ONE DOLLAR to load up the google homepage!!

I then get a call a couple of days later and the vodadrone asked me if I wanted to add a mobile internet service for an extra $10 per month in which I would receive 20mb of internet data and when I go over the 20mb limit, I will only be charged 12c per MB. I don't think I've screamed at anyone more in my life.

2 years on, I'm 21 and owe vodafail over $1000.

They're not getting a single cent.
27 Dec 2010 06:19:04 PM: I feel your pain I was on a $49 cap my first bill came it was for $5000.I aint paying a cent either.

I complained to Vodafone and they said there visual voicemail on Iphone wasnt working, so now I have to pay to retrieve my voicemails (121) because Vodafone cant support it!! Never get reception or 3G coverage on a Friday afternoon between 5pm - 6pm. The vodafone mail server stoped working so I dont receive emails through it anymore. Receive SMS messages 4 hours late!! I will happily pay more to Telstra for a reliable network.
29 Dec 2010 07:48:26 AM: im in the same boat and as a small buisness which relies on leads (wich i might add i have to pay for) i have been slugged for leads wich have been late or havnt even arrived let alone all the customers who havnt been able to contact me!
i was told it would be fixed up!
2 damn months later and 2 months worth of prepaid for 2 damn phones and still doesnt work!
taking into account all the buisness lost and bills having to get paid for work i havnt been able to get, looks like its time to wrap up my trading!
thankyou Vodashit for ruining yet another small buisness!
29 Dec 2010 10:25:43 AM: As a business owner you have a legal responsibility to ensure continuity of that business, even going so far as to get another phone connected to a carrier that works until issues with vfone are sorted. 2558 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Outrageous at 27 Dec 2010 01:33:30 PM
After reading the article on the Sydney morning herald I finally realized that I wasn't the only person experiencing incredibly poor network service. I've gone for months with terrible service. I've spent a lot of time thinking "it must just be my location or even my phone" but after hearing the same problems from my business partner, my wife and then gradually everyone I know who has signed with vodafone- I've finally come to the conclusion that I've been paying for a service that is not delivering on even the most simplest of functions. Clients can't contact me, I can't call my family of friends from home- it's not only a massive inconvenience- it's a huge concern when you might have to make an emergency phone call! SO I called vodafone and told them that I wasn't going to pay this months bill. They agreed. I encourage every vodafone customer to not to pay their latest bill and demand a refund. They can't refuse but unfortunately it hasn't made a difference to their service.

For the past 5 years my voicemail has called me with my messages, but since taking it off for an overseas trip then putting it back on, I now get a text message instead and have to ring my voicemail for each message which costs me every time.

I have called Vodafone atleast 5 times to have it fixed but each time I hit a deadend in frustration. For example, the last time I rang the automated voice said it was a 45 minute wait or I could leave my number and someone would call me back. I left my number, and someone did ring me back but after I explained what my problem was, she said she had to transfer me to another department to have the issue fixed...but when she transferred me I got the "it's a 45 minute wait" automated message again and no option to leave my number.

I'm so fed up and just glad that my contract is up in February.

When i sent the first phone in to be repaired i asked if the unlimited data would be still included even tho i wasnt using a blackberry. when i received my next bill it had over $250 dollars worth of internet fees. it took me an approximation of about 4 days to actually get a hold of someone who would actually be bothered to assist me. waiting on hold for over 3 hours at a time. it is unacceptable and something needs to be done. i am now stuck with 2 phones that do not work and vodafone has done nothing to offer a solution.
27 Dec 2010 03:31:11 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"

2515 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pretty Bad at 27 Dec 2010 01:21:43 PM
I never complain, or go on customer support. I usually just wear it.
But, Vodafone has consistently unreliable and poor reception.
At least it is cheap.

2506 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremely! at 27 Dec 2010 01:18:22 PM
Ive been with vodafone for years. my last contract i had no problems, seemed like a good carrier etc. so i decided to renew my contract for another 2 years (this is about 5 months ago). Since then i have had nothing but problems!! I don't get txts till 5-6 hours later, sometimes in the middle of the night. People try to ring me and it goes straight to voicemail, thus i miss out on work opportunities, as my work means i must be on-call and reachable at all times. If people do get through to me and i pick up the phone they cannot hear me, and end up having to hang up, ring back and hope that they can actually hear me the next time. My next problem, is i upgraded my plan because i was going over my cap, i was told i have $650 worth of included calls. I continually checked my usage online only to find out they started charging me after about $580, rang up to complain about being overcharged etc. only to find out that the 650 worth of included calls is after GST, but the amount they show u on their website when u login is BEFORE GST. I think this is total BULLS*&@*#&$@*T!!! Totally deceiving, and i believe intentional as a way of cheating people out of trying to stay within their cap. Overall, i am really angry at Vodafone and cannot wait to get off this joke of a company.

2504 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FAIL out of 10- at 27 Dec 2010 01:18:18 PM
One more note for the alternatives: Lebara Mobile (you know, those dodgy F**kers advertising everywhere for a "free sim" oh yeah you just have to pay $10 for credit or you can't get the sim... that's not a free sim chumps!) also use Vodafone... so AVOID.

I have Never been with vodafone but was involved with a business where I was constantly on the phone to suppliers and workers on mobile phones, I constantly found (over a number of years) that drop outs and poor reception were a constant with people on Vodafone, I advised many many people to steer clear of them only to get "but they are such good value" I rekon they meant cheap, you get what you pay for but not always what you paid for. get rid of the mongrels.

2490 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is On a scale of 1-10... FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 01:15:56 PM
Signed up at the end of November to get a Windows Phone 7 device. The phone is crap but that's a side issue. I blamed the phone for many problems at first until swapping the sim out to a new phone resolved none of the problems except battery life. Call dropouts are unbearable, data shows up as unavailable even when there's 5 bars of reception, their automated 'customer service' is a waste of time, and I can't disable voice mail which I never wanted and specifically said I was only signing up if voice mail was disabled.

2487 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor reception in Strathfield/Burwood area at 27 Dec 2010 01:15:35 PM
We still have almost 17 to 19 months left in our 4 contracts. Reception signals often is so bad that it takes hours for text messages to arrive. SMS texts once sent never leave because there is no signal. We have to step out of home to have phone signal strong enough to be able to make or receive calls. Never again, but we have no choice for next 17 months because of 24 month contracts.

2477 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Enormously FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 01:10:26 PM
I'm onto my third i-phone because of drop outs ( now I realize) my phone just keeps dropping out. I have no reception in Canberra no reception in Wollongong bowral goulburn - continuous issues! My friends and family are used to me having to call them back 5 times for each call we make. My voicemail cones through every few hours after a call. I run a business with animals and have to send picture messages which never get delivered - I'm paying premium service $121 per month! VERY unimpressed and will never sign a contract with Vodafone again!

The wonderful regular 'billshock' despite using the 1512 text facility to supposedly keep track of my usage.

Used it and it told me I was approaching my download limit. No problem, I had an alternate provider, I just used them for the remaining 3 weeks.

3 weeks later, I get a text saying I was going to be charged excess usage of $200! Can't figure out why an instand text status check has to be 4-5 days in arrears? What's the use if the information is not timely? Is this deliberate?

Also the usual crap network coverage and speed, as well as the $10 extra charge per month once I came off contract... without notification or fanfare... they just helped themselves.

There are other things, but the inabilty to have an accurate idea of current usage is the big one.

2471 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Almost total fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:08:22 PM
I have been unable to send emails on my iPhone since early October. The inconvenience of this was compounded by the fact that the emails appeared to be going thru, and were listed in my Sent folder. It took a while for me to work out that people weren't getting the emails and during that time, chaos reigned supreme. Now I try a test email every week or so, but still no luck. The reason I got the iPhone was the convenience of being able to receive and reply to emails away from office/home. This has been totally impossible for almost 3 months and Vodafone still haven't fixed the problem or done anything to make me feel like they could care less. No responsibility seems to be taken, no remorse shown or apology given. And this is aside from the NO SERVICE, the voicemails coming 10 hours late and delay in the text messages getting to the recipients. I'M VERY AGITATED!

I am on 365 day prepaid plan. I have about 10 cents in call credit , over 1000 vodafone to vodafone minutes and 8 months to plan expiry. However, since Oct. I am unable to make any free V to V calls because of low credit. But all I want to make are FREE V to V calls! How ridiculous!
