Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

10780 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I havent used my phone in a year !!! at 5 Jan 2011 09:47:11 PM
1.5 years ago I purchased a blackberry storm from the local Vodaphone store in Armidale NSW. I was assured it had all the same features as an iphone including (I was very clear) wifi capability.
two days later I returned to the store, the phone was rubbish reception was horrendus (even in the centre of armidale I lose reception) and I couldnt find its wifi capability something I required for work. I was assured it was there and to check online. After two and a half weeks of argueing with the store about the phones lack of feature equality with the store I was told to call Vodaphone direct. After over two hours on hold they informed me that the cooling off period of two weeks had expired and to return to the store so back I went. Same story from them dispite the fact I had been arguing with them two days after purchasing the phone. I finally track down thier national sales manager and threaten legal action in small claims court for false and misleading conduct, I was informed "bring in the phone and its accessories and I will give you an old model iphone". Great, the next day I take EVERYTHING in minus the box (phone charger cables manuals ect). I am then infomred that the sales staff had been directed that if I did not have the box that they would not take back the phone AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!! back to vodaphone, they didnt care and I was diorected to continue complaining with the store direct. Well it has since closed down and the nearest store is approximately 180km away in Grafton.
I give, up use my phone for another few months and then throw it against a wall in rage, bugger all reception, rubbish phone with none of the features I was informed it had.
So here I am paying for a phone contract I havent used for about 12 months and waiting for my contract to expire.
so much abuse I would like to throw towards Vodaphone !!

Great website! I live in the sydney metro.
NO SERVICE for long periods. Constant drop outs and.All the other crap like slow data speeds even when i have 3G. Friends saying I been trying To call bUt your always unavailble. No im just with Vodafone. 2hours on the phone to Voda 90 mins of hold time. Then hung up on because I wanted my service cancelled. Another 4 hours later. Complaints to the TIO, ACCC & 2GB radio I can walk from my contract. As of today im with Another network on an Iphone 4 and the difference is amazing.

10770 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is beyond repair at 5 Jan 2011 08:57:35 PM
A question I wanted to raise on this site is... has anyone experienced calls regularly dropping out at intervals such as 5 mins 2 seconds... 10 mins 2 seconds etc?
This occurred in various areas of sydney for me and another person I know also using vodafone from mid 2009 to early 2010. I would check my phone at the time, there would be reception and I would be abe to call back or others would call back immediately. This would happen consistantly for about a week then it would be back to "normal" for 2-3 weeks then it would reoccur!! At times I can remember having literally dozens of dropped calls per day and it would regularly happen 2 seconds into the minute of a call... most of them at 5 mins 2 seconds.
Interestingly enough this just happens to add up to extra $$$ for Vodafone, as we are billed for that entire minute or 30 sec block, of which we only used 2 seconds. Then, we are also left with little option but to call again so we incur 2,3 or more flagfall charges for the one call. If this was intentional its an interesting way of increasing their income from calls by 10 - 15% at 5 minute drop outs. Considering Vodafones honesty and "ways" it appears they were INTENTIONALLY dropping calls in certain areas for a given period then moving to another area to minimise customer complaints. One thing they would have banked on for this "scheme" to work (if it was that).. is that their customers would not unite against their ways.
So... Anyone else with a similar experience?

5 Jan 2011 09:20:51 PM: mm..I've seen comments previously that mention calls drop off at a set interval, but not sure if it was 5mins 2 secs. Sounds strange and since I'm not telecoms expert, have no idea what would be the cause.
Some people have also suggested the dropped calls thing as a way for them to make more money, but I think logically, they do themselves real damage by not providing a good service-and they would know that. Logically, they (senior management) would care about the longevity of the business and therefore try to engage in sustainable practices (ie. make profit sustainability)...but then again.....they have made some pretty major mistakes lol.

5 Jan 2011 10:12:47 PM: I had the same problem until I deliberately broke my phone, it always happened at about the 5 minute mark in late 2009 and early 2010. I began toi think they just wanted to get additional connection charges.
5 Jan 2011 11:01:20 PM: Hi there I posted above.. thinking as logically as I could, nothing else made any sense. Especially when you see that happen over and over again... phase out and return a couple of weeks later, dropping calls the first 2 seconds in.. you realise there is a good "chance" there's intent behind it. Especially when they stand to benefit immediately. Maybe they needed a short term gain.. to fund their longer term needs. Who knows, altho it would be interesting if it was wide spread.
As close as I came to making my phone also spontaneously explode hehe.. thankfully I didnt because the problem was consistent between my Nokia N73 and Blackberry 8310. There must be more people out there that experienced this.. it just went on for so long I was left expecting it to happen after a couple of weeks of grace !! I remember the BB call logs would look something like.. 5:02, 5:02, 3:02, 10:02 for the same call.. It was flippen ridiculous!

can someone remind me what 3g is? I seemed to have forgotten what its like what to have it... have to have my phone on 2g all the time otherwise my phone battery won't last,.... new HTC Desire HD...and have to turn on 3g to go on the internet or get emails... and I am paying for this lack of service... SERIOUSLY VODAFAIL...SORT IT OUT and only a few k's out of Sydney CBD
10768 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is disgraceful at 5 Jan 2011 08:48:21 PM
was told email would function as per previous blackberry on new iphone4; cant send/recieve emails, $1500 roaming bills, costing me money as needed for work purposes, cant get any help whatsoever - spent so long on hold so many times to be given no answers. you get straight through on a nice clear line to the most friendly service when you want to upgrade, just dont ask for any friendly assistance...
10765 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 1000000% at 5 Jan 2011 08:32:56 PM
My move to Vodafone from another carrier occurred when this other carrier continuously stuffed me around when it came to receiving the new iPhone 4g. I happily changed to Vodafone yet after only a matter of weeks my brand spanking new iPhone 4g started experiencing problems. Calls constantly dropping out (important calls may I add to clients etc), poor network coverage in areas that one would assume coverage would be wonderful and last but certainly not least... The slow, painful internet. I don't think it is fair to pay around $80 a month, or ANY amount, for services that I do not receive. Not only are we in the 21st Century, we are in an era where these issues should no longer be issues. Time to step up your game Vodafone, because I can assure you in no time at all will your customers be flocking to the other major phone companies.
10761 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Need to pay for an unknown account!? at 5 Jan 2011 08:25:02 PM
Vodafone has debited 2 unknown payments from my credit card from an account which I had no idea of! That's a total of $160+ over 2 months! How weird is this!
Another 2 payments were made to VODAFONE INTERNET, which again Vodafone Pty Ltd has no idea where this comes from... checking out with my bank... but this doesn't look good at all!!!

6 Jan 2011 12:58:15 PM: The credit card companies have some sort of "bad vendor" register, and I have heard that they can refuse credit transactions with those vendors. I am wondering why Vodafone hasn;t made that list?
Both Mastercard and Visa refused to process donations to Wikileaks.Perhaps they could do the same with Vodafone, because, really, Vodafone behaves like a "terrorist" charity, and must cause the card companies so many resources dealing with Vodafone "issues".
I think they could regain a bit of cred after the Wikileaks thing, and I am pretty sure there would be no hacker backlash.Though, *wild speculation*- perhaps VF spends all its ill-gotten gains employing a crack team of blackhats to make sure they always have a way of getting money from anyone who's ever been on their data base.

Full 3G reception and its taking upto 10 mintues to load any web pages and youtube videos on my iPhone 4! Would hate to imagine how slow other handsets are going...this is the middle of the CBD for christ sake. Im glad its not just me, but at the same time what the hells going on? We pay just as much if not more than other carriers for what seems to be less than half the service.

Why they can't give discount customer half price plan?
such as Vodafone Cap - 24 month plans - iPhone 4 $69 per month
in order to make customer happy and be loyal with Vodafone until the issue resolved should give customer discount half price plan from $69 to $34 per month or waived 12months contract

If that is the case, imagine OP's (and all NESBians) increased difficulties communicating with people with foreign accents overseas. Difficult for both sides of the conversation. Hope you get some chickensh*t amusement from that!

6 Jan 2011 08:12:44 PM: Hold on a minute cowboy, that phrase (Sorry, I didn't quite catch that........) is taken from none other than Lara on 1555 when she does not understand fully the response given to a question. Where does the word 'horrible'come into it??? So no I don't understand as you make no sense. Suggest you take your pious, sanctimonious and patronising attitude, lube it up and shove it where the sun does not shine. Good enough for you??

You are probably right- it's been so long since I've even tried 1555. And I have noticed several posts that could not be misinterpreted (!) as anything but swipes at NonEnglishSpeakingBackground-ians,and one I just didn't find funny, after a poster had written of his/her need for a reliable phone because of his/her disability.Plus the usual teenager/VF spam insults. My only excuse is I was in a particularly foul mood at the time. And "horrible" is in the very first line of the post-up the top.You think I was being " pious sanctimonious and patronising"- I think you were being downright abusive and it's a pity you could direct it somewhere a little more deserving- senior VF management?:-)
7 Jan 2011 06:35:29 AM: Hang about sunshine, I am right about the phrase used no probable about it. So where is the swipe at non English speaking persons??? So you were in a foul mood at the time??? Thought you'd have a pop at an innocent post, got a little upset with the nasty man's response, you need to get a grip mate.

Not only that but my data on my phone rearly works and frankly when I'm paying for a service I want the service to work or at least someone could have told me there may be a few glitches to come but no, nothing was said.

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one experiencing these problems.
I live less than 3.5 kilometres from the centre of Sydney and get no reception in my house! As we decided to get rid of the home phone, as it was superfluous - I am in trouble when I need to make a call. I needed to call an ambulance for my son and had to stay in the one spot and hope that the phone didn't drop out - as it regularly does! Not a time that you should be worrying about things like this!
When I am lucky enough to have some reception it constantly drops out and goes from full service to no service, without even moving a step away.
I constantly have problems with my voicemail - they don;t come through for days - if at all and the same thing often happens with SMS.
Switching to Vodafone was the worst decision I have ever made. My company phone is with Telstra and as much as I do not like them as a company - the reception is fantastic and I have not had a problem with them wherever I am in Australia

I live within 200m of Vodafone store at bondi beach, were I unfortunately signed up to this circus. Would you believe that when I went to the store to.complain about lack of 3g coverage, they told me that there has always been data issues in my postcode 2026. They then said that I can use 2g.
I cannot use data ever! Phone constantly not working.
To rub the salt in the wound, I just saw Vodafone ad on tv.8gb data modem including free pocket WiFi. I am lost to understand how the authorities allow this vile practice of selling contracts they can't deliver. When will government say enoughs enough?
For me, I plan to leave Vodafone as soon as I call TIO. I cannot wait to join 2011!

10744 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Crap customer service and website at 5 Jan 2011 07:29:17 PM
I don't have call drop-out problems, but do have some late delivery text messages. My complaint is almost every time I try to pay my bill online, there is a website 'problem' that results in a frustrating call to the insufferable Robot Lara and a long wait on hold. Eventually I get excuses about the website being down/upgrading/temporarily unavailable etc etc. If I want a paper bill instead, that will cost me extra, but every month when I try to pay online I need to set aside about half an hour, just to give this stupid, useless and uncaring company money it doesn't deserve. The customer service is non-existent and the excuses pathetic. It is impossible to complain effectively. Every time I have a problem paying online because of their crap website, I ask for it to be reported but nothing ever changes. They promise anything to get you off the phone. I stay with this appalling company because I'm on a discontinued "no plan" service that costs them more money than it costs me. That's the only comfort I have in using Vodafone - actually "using" them. I recommend everyone I can against this company and tell Vodafone so when I complain, which is frequent. They don't care. But Optus for my home phone and internet is no better, so why bother going to the effort of switching suppliers? I bet they treat their staff like dirt, which is why they have these problems in the first place: no one who works there cares about the customer.
P.S. The bogus pro-Vodafone online comments on SMH story are surely embarrassing?! Try harder, Vodafone.

5 Jan 2011 07:30:00 PM: Gives a whole new meaning to the term Mobile Phone......!!!! Please enter your postcode on the Your Coverage tab so we can gather the appropriate data and the second thing is contact 1555 (make sure your phone is fully charged and be prepared for a possible long wait) the third thing is take the matter to the TIO details may be found on the How To Complain tab. Good luck and let us know how you get on!!!
5 Jan 2011 09:54:35 PM: umm, why?
5 Jan 2011 10:13:50 PM: @ 5 Jan 2011 11:54:35 PM (if you are the OP).............we've never been able to speak to our friends from within the house...........there is a network issue entering your postcode will identify the problem area...........I presumed (appears I am incorrect) that you would want the problem solved by contacting Vodafone on 1555..........TIO is the next step if you do not get satisfaction on 1555. Have I misread your intentions?? If so may I ask why you posted your issue on here???

10739 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Obscene Fail! at 5 Jan 2011 07:13:42 PM
Two mobile internet and two iphone 4 on two year contract.
After having to call every second week regarding billing issues and network coverage, we sent a very formal and stern notification of disconnection to the Vodafone feedback line. We get a call back from the 'Escalations department', who aren't willing to assist with monetary value (as promised 10 times previously due to multiple services). My husband told them specifically, "Do not call back until you have a manager willing to release me from all contracts". We get a call back half an hour later, informing us we are being put through to the 'Cancellations department' and fees will be incurred. We then requested to speak to his manager, or obtain his manager's details, the answer we got: "I am only willing to put you through to the 'Cancellations department'. Call was terminated!!! We spend over $500 a month with Vodafail, and the best they can give us is a free transfer to the 'Cancellations department' where fees will be incurred!!! What a joke!!!

5 Jan 2011 07:33:12 PM: Yep, over $500 due to 'excess usage' from having to constantly refresh pages due to drop-outs and it always happens at the time when I'm half way through downloading a 2GB PDF or something along those lines (for work)

It is rather silly in this day and age that a mobile phone requires the user to go outside to get texts!!!! 10731 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 5 Jan 2011 06:38:34 PM
I have been having issues for months including dropped calls, no internet and no coverage. I can now only connect to facebook on my iphone if I am connected to a WIFI connection. My voicemail has disappeared. i generally have to make about 10 phone calls to someone as my calls continually drop out. A family member sent me a xmas message on xmas day and i received it on 29/12. My partner was trying to call me for 45 minutes and could not get through despite me having full coverage at the time. Through all this I have contacted vodafone on many many occasions and have spent in excess of approx 20 hours on the phone only to be told that there appears to be nothing wrong. I get no where at all and I am extremely frustrated.
5 Jan 2011 06:41:58 PM: Well, you have tried 20 hours is an extraordinary amount of time to get issues resolved, sadly it is the norm for Vodafone. Check out the TIO details in the How To Complain tab at the top of the page. Good luck and let us know how you get on!!!!

Hi Everybody,
my Name is Luca Facibeni I am a Sydney resident and I have been experiencing prolems with my iPhone (one) which is using the Vodafone network since last August 2010. Since then the situation has been steadly deteriorating and now problems are so severe that I can hardly receive any call at all.
I own and run a small gardening business and because of the nature of this job I am basically every day out and about all day long. For this reason I do have only mobile wireless internet and mobile phone as customer service tools.
Many of my clients started complaining that they cannot contact me anymore and has become critical.
I want to voice my great dissatisfaction with Vodafone in these recent months and the frustration I experience due to the fact that also the Vodafone customer service number "1555" is actually not available.
Have cunsumers any kind of rights or just the duty to pay?
Does the Australian authority on telecomunications impose any criteria about how contracts between network providers and customers/users must be and also does it supervise the extend of discrepancies between service agreed and paid for and actual service provided. In today's society, just because of the way it works and functions, I do count on the fact to be in constant contact with others by telematic means. This is the reason why I pay for it.
If I need a banana in my life, I go to the grocery shop and I'll buy it. If the shop where I go doesn't have a banana to sell, I am free to go to another shop looking for the banana I need and I can do so without giving any money to the first shop I went to and which could not supply my with a banana because it did not have any banana.
Now, I have been buying my bananas from Vodafone for many months so I am keen to keep buying my bananas from Vodafone. The problem is that in the last six months Vodafone did not give me the bananas I asked for and Vodafone agreed to give me. I have paid for bananas and I have received apricots instead.
Apricots are not what I need. I am not happy with what Vodafone is giving me instead of the bananas I need and we agreed for in the deal we made.
It is clear that Vodafone has run out of bananas.
It is not unusual for a "supplier" to run out of stock.
Now I think the authorities who are running the country should step in firmly and ask Vodafone a simple question: "Are you Vodafone in the position to supply right now the banana you promised to the people who need the banana right now in this very moment? Yes?!! Okay very good. No??!! well in this unfortunate case, please stop immediately requiring money for what you cannot sell anymore and set your former customer, with its previously allocated phone number, free to go and buy the banana it need from another shop.
Does this make sense or not?

My emails to not update. My phone (an iPhone, I might add) regularily turns itself off. I have little reception. My outgoing calls continuously FAIL (on a daily basis). This can be quite frustrating when I need to make an urgent call. Incoming and outgoing calls cut out ALL the time. I recieve txt messages hours after they have been sent. Sometimes, even when my phone is on, I cannot recieve or make any phone calls - this is also when my mobile is showing bars of reception.
This whole situation is ridiculous.I don't want to pay my next bill. Why should I?.. I'm not recieving the service I was offered.

10708 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is global roaming at 5 Jan 2011 04:54:41 PM
We recently visited bali and went to a vodafone shop to have my business phone switched to global. I was told this was done but got to Bali and phone didn't work, made several calls to vodafone from another carrier only to be told they would get back to me. I lost thousands of dollars worth of work as I was not contactable. Vodafone left a message on my phone to contact them but they were also calling the number that none of my customers could get me on as the phone was not switched to global as promised. I arrived back to Sydney, switched my phone on and had a message to ring Vodafone. They actually left a message on a phone that they new wasn't working. No-one at Vodafone wants to listen to my story and I just keep getting the run around. If my customers could have got hold of me I would have received several work orders. This is really hurt my business. Jeff Barnes
10704 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is kafkaesque at 5 Jan 2011 04:46:27 PM
I describe my contract with vodafone as similar to that of Kafka's "The Trial", only this is far worse as i have now had to endure over two hours of old John Mayer songs in the process.
I am constantly unable to access a connection not only from my phone where i am located in inner city Sydney, but I also find that over the weekend I am often without any internet connection.
Not only this, but I have been billed upwards of $700 in the past two months apparently accounting for usage that I could not have run up as my wifi device so often reads "SMS ONLY".
Having worked in call centres - inbound and outbound - I try to be reasonable with the person that I am speaking with. However, in a single call, i get passed around and around the departments until I am finally promised a call back and I still have not received any response from anyone. I am not only completely frustrated, I am seriously concerned that I will not be able to sort anything out with anyone and that every month I will have to fear a bill upwards of $250 for a $39 plan. Thanks so much for allowing me this cathartic moment, the words "I understand" truly meant!! Ta

6 Jan 2011 01:56:30 PM: Kafka-esque is a word that keeps springing into what's left of my mind when the memory resurfaces of the horror of dealing with Vodafone and the TIO.Resurfaces easily, because the situation is ongoing- first complaint(on this issue) lodged with Vodafone exactly one year ago today.
And, I'm wondering, if it's ever resolved before I die (or give up) will I then suffer incurable Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for the rest of my life?Sitting huddled in a corner of a darkened room, weeping Vodafone logo tears.
Posting here has been quite therapeutic- thank you,Vodafail

I called vodafone several times about my poor service I would have full bars of reception but it would drop out, calls would fail, text would not send and people could not get through to me. I spoke to three different people after being on hold for over 40 mins each time. My uncle was dying at the time and I explained I needed a reliable phone they didn't care they said they would hold a 3 day investigation and call me back! I had to
call them and still nothing. They sent me a sim
card and said try this but I was left on
hold for over an hour the day I called to
activate the new sim so I gave up. I called yesterday to upgrade my phone which they offered me again on hold forever and a memo to all stores said for htc or iPhones we need to call and order. After my long wait they told me to call back on
the 6th at which point they would take my order for the htc!! I am refusing to pay my bill as I can not use the service properly! I just want out of my contract which only has 3 months left and I will never ever go near them again! Poor quality products, rude non social phone staff not even in the same country and crap coverage! They use to be great but some one has stuffed up big time and I know hundreds of people who have left them and for good reason! I will not be renewing my contract!

This is the third time I have tried to call vodafone to discuss drop out issues and it is the third time I have been on hold for more than 1hr and then the call drops out. What a joke. How am I to run a company like this. Then they ring up and give me reminder to pay the monthly bill. What a joke because that person calling from vodafone can not take complaints. Compensation is called for here.

My forecast:
The class action will either not go ahead at all (given at this stage it is simply a fishing expedition). And if it does go ahead, it will only include a few big-user corporate customers.
The amounts are too small for the rest of you, and the arguments too complicated to make it worth the paperwork.

So I contacted support and was told account would be reset and I would receive an sms with password reset - never got them. Tried to log in "No such account exists" - called support, took 2 hours for them to sort it out with support blaming me for not signing up when my voda logs state I called them.
Stuck the USB in, connected. Website timed out. Gave up and haven't used it since. Time to cancel me-thinks.

I have constant dropout with calls incoming and outgoing. My household have 3 iphones one with Telstra, one with Optuis and mine with Vodaphone. I am the only one with issues.I moved from optus to vodaphoine about 6 months ago because of a better deal with vodaphone. I kept my existing phone when I moved carriers. I have deadspots in the hose with making and taking calls. I usually have to to to the front or back yard to take or make a call. I get SMS's one to two hiours later this happens all over the place in Sydney. I mainly use the phone for buisness and it my main contact point, it's getting dificukt to opterate this way and I looking to go to Telstra since their plans are now more competitive.
10681 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive at 5 Jan 2011 03:19:13 PM
After consistently receiving the message "SIM card registration failed" one day, I tried calling the customer service line of VF 3 times - first time I got through and I said it was a problem with a Nokia handset (just guessing, I'm no tech person), which then transferred me to a number which was not connected. I then called back and this time I said it was a problem with the SIM card, and got a message telling me there was a technical problem and I needed to hang up and call back. The third time I chose that it was a problem with coverage and the same thing happened.
I then emailed, got an automated message about covering 94.52% of the Australian population, which I replied to saying I was sitting in the middle of Sydney. I didn't receive a response for a while (I think just over a week), then eventually received the following:

I have been constantly calling the customer lack of service line and when I finally got through, the call dropped out. They did manage to call me back however again the call kept dropping out. They managed to cancel the visual voicemail feature as i had migrated to an android handset however they keep insisting they have full coverage and it must be my brand new handset....hmmm. Anyway, tried the onbudsman, they escalated my complaint to Vodafone. I received a call from a "John" whilst commuting home (so missed the call but got the voice mail) who advised that he was investigating my complaint and would call me back to discuss. no number was left and no follow up call has been received (unless they have left messages that have failed to reach me which is very likely. I have again expressed my disappointment to the Ombudsman so lets see where we go from here! As I have been with Vodafone very happily since 1999 (untl recently) I am bitterly disappointed with the copmpany.

I had network issues in my old house and I lived on the fourth level apartment with good open windows and didn't have any network, but I didn't realize until I moved to another suburb and the network issues became even worse. I left Virgin 30$ per month plan for iPhone and now I'm stuck with a brick. Absolutely no data access and I would be lucky if I get two bars of network. No network at my work even. Phone only works when I am outside. I just want to get out of the contract now asap, wasting my money with vodafail. Whoever asks me I just tell them not to switch to any provider using the vodafone network.

My voicemails never come through until days later. I have no reception in my house and people are constantly telling me my phone is switched off. I have tried calling vodafone only to be put on hold for so long I decide to hang up. I am contantly on the phone and my calls drop out.
I have also been charged excessive amounts for overseas data which I think is ridiculous.
I want to get out of contract and change to Optus or Telstra. I am over it!

I never have any phone recpetion in my house. Vodafone clearly stated that the 3g reception was good. as i work from home my mobile is a nessecity, after 10 seconds it drops out and so i have to swtich it network over to 2g. now im stuck with this crap company for 2 years and dont understand what the call centers are saying to me with their basic knowledge of english. the best is when i go to check my cap usage and i get some stupid sms saying the system is experiencing technical difficulties and the 3g is so slow and the whole situation is frustrating and no employee at the vodafone stores will help you.

Over the last year have spent hours and hours, waiting on download material on iphone, dropped phone calls, no voice mail activation, etc... for a $99 a month plan.
10666 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FAIL at 5 Jan 2011 03:00:32 PM
I've been with vodafone for over 3 years. Recently the reception has become worse than ever, taking between 1-2 minutes to actually connect a call every time, if it ends up connecting at all. Sometimes I have to try 4-5 times before it goes through. I usually resort to hanging up and calling from my home or office phone because I can't be bothered waiting for it to connect, if it ever does. It's a little scary if there was an emergency and I actually needed to use it!
I barely have reception in my office which is not at all rural. Depending on the day my 3G coverage varies massively, somtimes doesn't work at all. Voicemails sometimes take days to come through. It kills me to pay $100 a month for a service that barely works. The useless website doesn't help either, with pages taking forever to load or not being able to be processed.
The worst part was when I had my phone off for a week, turned it back on, and no messages came through. I knew that I had received some, waited a day, still nothing. Called vodafone and was told that "sometimes they just get lost, they don't know why, they might come through eventually" and there was nothing they could do. Tried to get at least 25% off of my monthly bill as they weren't providing any service to me for a week, nor providing me with texts or voicemails I received during that week. Had to speak to the manager and ended up getting $10% off, never got the messages...

After being told by VODAFONE that hand held coverage was available in a Central West NSW town I was relocating to and then to be stuck with a mobile plan for 12 months with no coverage in that town, it caused plenty of grief. The other surprise and disappointment was just how little power the ombudsman really has over these wayward telcos in resolving issues.

I stuck it out, and tolerated Vodadome's mobile broadband connection drop outs.
1 Month out from my Vodadome contract expiration I got a call from a sales guy asking if I want to extend my contract...I said I can't wait to get away from you muppets.
And yes, I had endless issues trying to speak to someone....would be on hold for 30 mins or so, then it would just cut out...so I'd have to ring back...etc etc....
One other time I complained about a loss of service (mobile broadband). The loss of service was 1 or 2 days from long....They refused to give me any refund for this loss of service. I couldn't understand why I was paying for something that wasn't actually available.
I'm now with Telstra, and seems to be 100% from a maintaining a connection perspective.

Other than the lack of reception over recent months the worst was when I was overseas and I lost my phone and needed to deactivate my sim card. It was a nightmare in terms of cost as I was being put on hold at international rates for up to an hour and then the phone would just cut off - this happened on three separate attempts - arrgggh!!!! Vodafone - get please get your act together your service has gone downhill bigtime.

I live only 10 minutes from the city but reception is terrible. I don't remember the last time I was able to have a conversation on my mobile without it dropping out. The last week has been the most frustrating of all, my partner is overseas and gets my voice mail EVERY time he calls.
I also don't usually receive MMS until days later (if at all), not so great when we are having a conversation about something and I get the picture a few days too late!
I have also been asked by so many people why I have not responded to their texts.... Well the answer is easy, I never received them. Vodafail indeed!
Six weeks and my contract is up, if I even hold out that long! Only wish my internet was the same, still another year of pain.

I live in inner west Sydney and have USB broadband on 24 month contract. After the Internet dropped out completely on several occasions after 8pm I tried to call the customer service line going through all the menus only to find out the Internet customer service centre closes at 8pm. On a subsequent call during business hours to the call centre I asked about what I can do if the Internet connection fails after business hours. The response from the operator was 'there is nothing you can do but wait until the next day'. Now the connection fails at least once a week for at least an hour at a time. Not very impressed!

10630 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very much at 5 Jan 2011 01:49:50 PM
I recently purchased the HTC Desire HD, and it was recommended that I port my number over to Vodafone from 3 because according to the customer service representative, 3 is being phased out. I thought fine, same company right? But now I feel nothing but regret. I have NO reception at my desk at work (where my phone is my everything), sometimes get texts weeks after they've been sent and I'm constantly struggling to find any 3G service in Sydney. When you've got a phone with the capabilities that mine has, it causes huge frustration. As well as this, I struggle to get any help via customer service if I have a problem (this is after being on hold for 45 minutes of course) - currently, I paid my first bill 3 weeks ago but am still receiving notifications that I owe Vodafone money. I'm only two months into my contract but am seriously considering paying it out and switching companies.

I with my family, ie 6 of us moved to Vodaphone at the end of October. We have all experienced call drop outs, I have been unable to make or receive calls. When I went to 2 different Vodaphone shops they told me it was the iphone not Vodaphone and told me to use 2G. I also noticed that there was no recpetion in Gulgong in the central west although both Telstra and Optus can be received there. I am really disappointed and don't feel I am getting value for money.
10625 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is :@ at 5 Jan 2011 01:36:22 PM
I have a USB internet plan with Vodafone. When I first got it, the speed was amazing - faster than some of my friends using ADSL2+ broadband. About 2 months ago the internet would drop out at 8pm on the dot every day for a week and no matter what I did I couldn't get it back. Then for a week or so I couldn't connect at all. I tried to call Vodafone customer service and got circled around with everyone telling me I had come through to the wrong section (because apparently post paid mobile broadband doesn't even have a section) so I eventually hung up to try again and 'Lara' glitched up and I couldn't get through at all. I eventually gave up and just tethered the internet from my iPhone. THEN about a month ago my connection speed dropped to less than dial up - especially if I was using something like SKYPE that doesn't use much bandwith at all. I would have full reception in that little satilite tracker but it appeared as if I had no connection at all some of the time. I didn't want to have to deal with the customer service people again so I went into the store to ask about it. The kind lady appologised for the service as she'd obviously had quite a few people coming in and complaining. She explained to be that if I call up customer service then they can guide me through some steps to change a few settings on my computer and if that doesn't work they will cancel my plan with no financial penalty. I think I am going to take my laptop into the Vodafone store and they can pay for the phone call, however long it may be, to a 1300 number because luckily for me, my phone is not with Vodafone.
5 Jan 2011 08:03:29 PM: It might be of some interest to you good folk Re: Vodafone shop service. This is, in part, a good news story for a change. A few weeks ago I went to the Vodafone dealer at Seven Hills shopping centre here in Sydney - West Metro. They were able to activate my "no service" phone via a new sim card all done in 10 minutes. They can do this because they use a dealer only commercial line to a dedicated dept.in India. They don't have to run the "LARA GAUNTLET" like we mere peasants have to endure.
The reason I did this was out of frustration with Vodafail India. I posted about this yesterday & I'll give the link at the end of this post. What they did a few weeks ago was to offer me a new $29 plan @ 12 months. On that same call I pulled the plug on my Vodafail G3 broadband service due to a lack of a connection for 4 days? I signed up with Virgin. My phone/sim was working fine, I was on that same phone (after waiting 70min)for "SERVICE". What made a difference was the prospect of losing another customer. Vodafail has a "special" department & their people there can authorise concessions, as revealed when I asked about that. However what they did was put me off the air for 3 + days? All they said was that I should have a phone service within 24 - 48 hours. By that stage I was just plain tired, so I did'nt think that it was'nt right until later. There was no way I was going to call LARA again. What I think should have happened was that my working sim would have been transferred over with my same phone nunber? What they did however, was to allocate me a new sim card(= new coded number)? How they were going to get that sim card to me from India was beyond me? Perhaps teleport it like they did in Star Trek (beam me up Scotty)? I only realised their blunder when at the Vodafone shop the salesgirl(on the dealer hot line) had to ID my existing sim, cancel the Indian sim & ID a new sim provided by the shop. Alls been fine since then no drop outs or anything. I'm using a basic Nokia flip phone.

WHAT WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS EVERYONE IS HAVING WITH VODAFAIL IS INSTEAD OF TAKING A LEGAL CLASS ACTION IS TO CUT OFF THE MONEY SUPPLY TO THEM. A CLASS ACTION OF DISOBEDIENCE, LIKE BE PREPARED TO PAY THEM, AS PER YOUR CONTRACT BUT NOT UNTIL THEY GO BACK TO A BETTER NETWORK (MORE EXPENSIVE FOR THEM). THE CORE OF THE PROBLEM HERE IS THAT THEY ARE CUTTING CORNERS IN THAT NEVER ENDING SEARCH FOR INCREASED PROFIT. LIKE THEY'VE ALREADY DONE WITH THEIR G3 NETWORK. PERHAPS AS AN INTERIM MEASURE FOR THE "CAMPAIGN" BUY A BASIC PHONE AND A LESS EXPENSIVE SERVICE E.G. SAVVYTEL. I'M SURE THAT IF 30,000+ CUSTOMERS STOPPED PAYING THEIR BILLS & STOPPED USING THEIR NETWORK = NO PHONE CALLS, COUPLED WITH BROAD MAINSTREAM PUBLICITY ( HOW ABOUT DISRUPTING THE VODAFAIL SPONSORED CRICKET FOR EXAMPLE?) THEY'D BE REACTING QUICK SMART.
A RELEVANT PHRASE HERE IS "MONEY TALKS & BULLSHIT WALKS".

Originally, was it Vodafone Fail or iPhone Fail.... well when my contract came to renewal (after Apple had issued me 6 new iPhone's) Vodafone has said.. definatley an issue with Apple, try the HTC. I had only experienced a few issues whilst living and working on the North Shore / Western Suburbs.
Move to the Northern Beaches and its a whole new problem. At this same time i recieved a HTC mobile on the $99 unlimited plan and if i try to drive from work (Northern Beaches) - Home (Lower North Shore) the reception drops out in 8 different spots. At work i need to walk 50m outside to get reception when 50 other staff have full reception on different networks.
This issue was "escalated" by a Vodafone Store and 4 calls to Vodafone and they have done notrhing in 2 months.
I JUST WANT MY PLAN CANCELLED WITHOUT PAYING EXIT FEES.... OH AND TO MAKE AND RECIEVE CALLS AND SMS...

Well I have signed up on 24 month contract with iPhone 4 at $69 Plan Cap, and service has been ridiculous and almost all day except when I am in Sydney CBD I get full strength of reception and really sick of it.
I called up Vodafone and was told that this maybe iPhone4 design issue and not Vodafone, but it is definitely Vodafone issue as my other prepaid phone with voda sim gets same issue. I was fed up with following it up and with the support desk who can barely speak English I was wearing low on patients.
I asked to have my contract terminated but was asked to pay $1400 to opt out but I bluntly refused.
I wish I had signed Optus contract.

I've been with Vodafone for just over 3 months, I signed up before all these issues became public.
It drops out, rubbish reception so I can't even hear people half the time.
Also my mobile internet is slow and cuts out all the time.
Also the GPS almost never works either unless I run it through a wireless connection.
Not happy

10610 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Excruciating for small business at 5 Jan 2011 01:01:41 PM
As a small business startup with my mobile number as my main contact point I need to reliably receive incoming calls - that ain't happening.
In particular what I'm seeing is an incoming call that rings for less than 5 seconds. Subsequently the is no voicemail message which makes me think the caller is just getting an "unavailable message".

Me and my girlfriend are with vodafone and we have constant arguments because one of us don't recieve our messages.Their have also been times when I needed to phone her urgently and I could not get to her and begin to get worried . All these thoughts come into my head as to wonder why she isn't answering her phone.Especially when I know she has driven somewhere and I will call her to see if she is home or gotten to her destination and begin to worry when I cant get through. These worries and stress wouldnt have to happen if it weren't for this unbelivable disgusting service. I cant cancel as I will have to pay them scums the pay out fee. So im stuck waiting until August, so I can cancel !
10606 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 5 Jan 2011 12:54:53 PM
According to the salesman that sold me my phone vodafone operates off telstra towers! If this is so why can I have a telstra phone with full bars sitting beside my vodafone mobile with no bars?? There are only 3 spots in my house where I can make calls. My job requires me to be oncall and I cannot rely on my vodfone to have reception therefore carry 2 phones wth me, my vodafone mobile and a telstra mobile( what a pain). Don't get my wrong I would never go with telstra due to there pathetic customer service and expensive rates but vodafone charge you for service that is not available for the majority of the time.Come on vodafone pull your socks up and stop charging us for no reception!!!

I ordered an iphone over the website on a plan, i received it 2 weeks late. that was fine. I had the phone for a week, was working excellent. I went to sign onto the vodafone website and noticed my name wasnt correct on my account page, all of the information was wrong.
I rang vodafone and was onhold for an hr, finally got through to them and they couldnt help me, because my name was wrong on the account.
I hang up rang again, same reply, so i asked to speak to someone higher.
They said, they would change the details, no problem, it may take 48 hrs to change.
I checked every day for 2 weeks and still no change, so i rang them again.
I was then told my bill was due, and it was exceeding $2000, (and still under another name) I explained that i hardly used it, and no way it could be that much, and that it was still showing up under another name, address, phone number the lot.
I go annoyed at the person i was talking too because they kept saying to come in and show id and they'll fix it - which i couldnt do because i live 5 hrs away from a vodafone store.
they said email your details and ID and they'll fix it up and ring back within 2 days.
I did. They didnt. (SHOCK HORROR!!)
I went to call them after the 2 days and i couldnt make a call.
I had no service, nothing.
I got someone too call my number, and it said it was not connected.
I was furious!
I rang vodafone back from a different phone, and they said politly - Sorry theres nothing i can do. Bring your phone into a store and we'll take it from there.
Almost 'doing my block in' i explained once again i couldnt do it living so far away from a store.
I was asked several times during the same phonecall to bring it into the closest store.
by this stage i was so annoyed, and was ready to hit the closest person.
I asked to speak to her superviser. She said sorry, but theres nothing she can do, and the superviser wouldnt be able to help. I said put the superviser on now.
Spoke to the superviser, she was helpful - well so it seemed.
She said that there had been a mix up with the account and she'll contact me in a weeks time when it will be sorted out.
I waited 3 weeks! in that time i brought a new phone NOT FROM VODAFONE!
I finally got the call, and i went off my head at the poor women.
She said well theres nothing we can do without your ID.
I said, my id is on file, ive sent it in. i will do it again.
i was emailed from the fraud people and was told to send my id into them and they'll get back to me with 2 weeks.
At least they were on time.
I was then told, there was a mix up with the accounts, and i was still under contract for 12 months and on a plan.
finally my iphone was up and running again.
it worked well for a couple months, then i had an accident, apparently water and phones dont work together real well. I am still waiting to hear back from vodafone - though i wont hold my breath.
I put my sim into a different phone.
hopefully they get back to me before my contract is up.

I am tired of making calls to friends and clients, and during the calls the connection drops out. so then i have to call back again to that same person, which then this eats into my capped plan and then leads to extra cost to some one i was originally speaking to first time , my bill just came this month at 235 dollars, from previous months being either on the 69 cap or just going over by a few dollars, i am also tired of trying to get onto the mobile internet coverage and not being able to get through on the service that i have signed up to.. now do i get a rebate for the lack of service! i bet not..
The mobile coverage is crap i will be lucky to get on the internet in the Queens Park area of Sydney, and i can see the mobile tower across from my balcony...total joke.
Thank you Vodafail for organising this site for us, your naming of this site is spot on.....

I have been with Vodafone for more than 8 years and recently I switched to a Blackberry 9700. I pay $49.00 per month (not much i know) and for this i was told i would get "super-fast 3G reception". Sadly i believed the staff at Vodafone. The harsh reality is I am lucky to get "3G" reception for more than 30% of the day. I live in the Kellyville area and the bulk of the time, I get "EDGE" reception which is terribly slow. I'm not even going to start on how many "drop-outs' i get during a phone call.
Vodafone used to be very good but they have really dropped the ball when it comes to reception for Smart Phones. Shame really..

I've told them I want to end my phone and mobile broadband contracts. Simple. But no, I'm wasting my time, neglecting my child, while waiting for someone to answer my call.

10590 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is prepaid broadband at 5 Jan 2011 12:18:48 PM
the data cap on prepaid broadband is so terrible, during evenings say after 7pm, its shockingly slow.at times during the night, the connection keeps ticking off the data bytes but you cannot connect to anything. When you pick up the fone to ring customer services to complain-an automated response greets you "service hours are between 8am to 8pm..." really a joke when a). Vodafone cannot provide a service which is stable through the day and night, b). Vodafone cannot have a 24/7 service support team contactable via fone in this day and age. After paying for the starter pack costing me nearly $100, I feel stuck with them as I'd have to spend just as much to cross borders and join another telco.Voda failed me too.

Vodafone sets up taskforce to fix network issues as 9000 express interest in class action
Ben Grubb
January 5, 2011 - 12:05PM
Vodafone has set up "a number of taskforce teams" to try to fix network problems following a class action legal threat in which about 9000 customers have expressed an interest in joining.
Sydney law firm PiperAlderman last month sought disgruntled Vodafone customers to press a class action over dropped calls, bad reception and poor data performance.
Today it posted an update on its site saying that approximately 9000 Vodafone customers had registered their interest.

"In the next five to ten business days, we will be sending group members a request for further information relating to their specific circumstances," it said. "Upon receipt of this information, we will process it and take the matter forward."
Vodafone has faced customer backlash over thousands experiencing poor service over the past few months.
The company initially blamed software bugs and argued that there were no serious problems with its network. However, just before Christmas, its CEO, Nigel Dews, issued an apology.
In it, Dews reminded customers of plans to "significantly" upgrade the Vodafone network.
In a blog post yesterday, the company's director of customer service and experience, Cormac Hodgkinson, said Vodafone had set up "a number of taskforce teams" that were "working to continue to resolve the current network issues which have been affecting some customers".
Hodgkinson also said Vodafone was "monitoring and testing the network across the country to evaluate its performance".
"While signs are encouraging, there are some customers who may not be experiencing these benefits as yet, and we will continue our program of work to ensure that customers see improvements over time."
Between January and March, Hodgkinson said, the company would be upgrading approximately 141 sites which transmit signals to mobile devices.
"These improvements focus on areas where there is either high traffic where capacity is a priority (which will help with data performance) or in areas where coverage is a priority (which will help with general coverage)," Hodgkinson said.

5 Jan 2011 12:21:16 PM: VODAFONE CLASS ACTION UPDATE Wednesday, 5th January 2011
Thank you to all of you who have registered your interest in the class action. To date, approximately 9,000 Vodafone customers have registered their interest.
In the next five to ten business days, we will be sending group members a request for further information relating to their specific circumstances.
Upon receipt of this information, we will process it and take the matter forward.
In the meantime, for your convenience, we set out answers to some frequently asked questions.
What information do I need to give you?
At present, we ask that group members await our request for further information, which will be sent within the next five to ten business days. This request for further information will enable us to assess the claims against Vodafone.
Can I make a claim if I am not a current Vodafone customer?
We are currently investigating claims of persons who have been Vodafone customers at any time in the past 3 years. If you have been a Vodafone customer at any time in the past 3 years, you should register your interest.
Can I make a claim if I am a 3 customer?
Due to the number of enquiries we have received from 3 customers, we will investigate potential claims against 3. When we ask you for further information, we will ask you to identify yourself as either a 3 customer or a Vodafone customer.
Can I make a claim if I am having internet issues?
Due to the number of enquiries we have received from internet customers, we will investigate potential claims relating to Vodafone's internet service. When we ask you for further information, we will ask you to identify yourself as a mobile, fixed line internet or wireless internet customer.
Can I make a claim if I have phone compatibility issues?
When we ask you for further information, we will ask you to identify any phone compatibility issues, and investigate this issue as a potential basis for claims.
What are the next steps?
The next steps are for us to gather and process the information provided by group members, identify legal claims available to group members, identify the value of the claims, and apply for litigation funding. Upon successfully obtaining litigation funding, we will work with the funder to prepare a claim to be filed in court.
What is litigation funding?
Litigation funders pay the legal costs of taking a case to court. Usually, upon a successful outcome, the litigation funder will be entitled to reimbursement of the legal fees it has paid plus a percentage of any compensation to which group members are entitled. This commission is usually in the range of 25-40% of that compensation. If litigation funding is obtained successfully, you will be asked to enter into a litigation funding agreement with the funder.
How long does the class action process take?
The class action process depends on a number of factors, including the attitude of the respondent, the amount of time taken to gather all relevant information, and whether a negotiated settlement is reached without the need for a hearing in court. This process can take 12 to 24 months.

We will provide further updates on our website on a regular basis. Please check our website regularly for these updates.

10577 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Crappy at 5 Jan 2011 11:57:02 AM
I've been with Vodafone for around 4 years and generally they've been okay, however over the last few months i've been experiencing continuous issues with people being unable to reach me and not being able to reach other people on Vodafone - i receive the message 'the mobile you are trying to call is currently unavailable' when the person i'm trying to reach is definately available with their phone switched on. Others receive the same message when trying to contact me, this is usually within Sydney cbd. I also fail to receive text messages on various occasions and recently cancelled my usb mobile broadband service due to the super slow internet speed.
10575 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 5 Jan 2011 11:53:51 AM
I live in Freshwater on the northern beaches & travel on the bus to Sydney CBD daily along Military Road. I continually have my phone calls drop out along military road and am never able to connect to the net from my iphone when i'm anywhere whithin range of the harbour bridge. On other days my phone won't even give me any service to send text's or make calls, let alone 3G access to get on the net - the best yet is that on military road i get the signal on my phone that says it's on roaming because it can't connect to 3G. For crying out loud, living in the Sydney Metro area I should have 3G coverage wherever I am & shouldn't have to put up with this crap. I switch to vodafone after being with Optus for 10yrs and I am seriously disappointed. Oh not to mention the ridiculous on hold time when you try to ring & get an answer out of Vodafone!!!

I have internet service on my mobile but it rarely works. What is more frustrating is the number of calls that drop out. Everytime I have to call the number back it costs another connection charge. I have become cynical enough to believe it is being done deliberately by vodaphone. I had excellent coverage at home until a few months ago now I have to stand outside to stop the call breaking up or dropping out. I am checking my contract as I believe it can be voided because I am not getting the service I pay for.
Unless there are major changes to customers rights.. I will never sign a mobile contract again. One way to keep them "more" honest.
