26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

16246 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Bad at 10 Mar 2011 07:20:34 PM
I live only minutes from the City of Brisbane in a suburb close by. I joined with Vodaphone just prior to the publicity. Now I am not a big complainer, however I have had days without service at times over the last month. yet my bills continue?
I sign a contract and if I break this contract I am financially penalised and my credit rating may be affected. Tell me why I can not have my bills decreased to match the service I am given or why Vodaphone is not obligued to finacially reimburse me?
All I ask is that I can make and receive calls and text. Is that really too much to ask?

I don't know what is going on down here on the gold coast, but after there so call upgrade, I had great data and enjoyed having 3G speed for 1 whole day, now the reception has forced me to use only 2g again. Maybe vodacrap should market there network for people who don't need to be connected to the network. They are no longer a network to be taken serious, god can't wait till my contract runs out, and no doubt I will be getting there marketing people to try to sign up for another 2 yrs of lies. And please those voda drones that get on the forum stating how wonderful the network is let's shed some light. 10,000 people can't be wrong.

i left telstra to move to voda cause they have the best plans, yeh the reception isnt the best atm but 45 infiniti plan who cares if u drop out you can call back fools and get no charge and yeh i have a iphone 4 that i pay for ontop of the plan but work it out people 45+18 thats pretty effing cheap seeing your getting a $800 phone with unlimited calls and text to anyone in australia and u can callscreen yoru messages on 1219 for $0, pfffftttt if people wernt dumb they would know they can do rate plan changes aswell. seriously people need to take a big look at themselves "are you perfect" No im sure you screw up many times in your life, i remember when telstra upgraded everything to next g and reception was effing sh#t house. its gonna be funny when everything is sweet again and you are all locked into contracts with other shit providers that plans dont even compare. Also my friend works at voda and said its funny cause so many people call up saying they are having all these drop outs(dont you all realise they can see how many dropouts you have so it would be good to stop lying and making yourself look like a dick).
Thats all that needs to be said

I have two phone contracts with Vodafone, Vodafone says I should have full 3G coverage in Townsville. I do not. I called them 2 months ago, and, according to customer service rep, cancelled my contracts free of charge. I found out today that they didn't cancel them, and I'm now being slugged with overdue fees

I still am unable to make and recieve calls that do not disconnect due to network error within a few seconds. My signal strength shows 3/4 to full yet once call is made I get broken up voice then a few seconds later disconnection.

I returned to the Crazy Johns store at Strathpine and spoke the the Manager and asked what's being done to rectify this situation, they told me it's been fixed and I'm under contract to keep paying the $69 a month for this lack of service or they will take recovery action.

Also when I purchased the phone the sales person informed me that I could change down my monthly plan at no cost.
The manager looked up who sold met he plan and said Oh that's Robbie he told lots of lies to customers to sell phones that's why he no longer work's at my store. If you have an issue take it up with him personally at the North Lakes store.

So not only do we have a company that sells a service that's not functioning they knowingly have sales people working for them that mislead customers to sign up to them.
6 Jun 2011 11:49:32 PM: hmm i highly doubt thats what happened. If you think you can downgrade to a lower plan when your still in contract, you're delluisional. Wouldnt everyone then start on a 'high' plan just to get the better phone free and then drop it down to a low plan??? its commonsense, not 'misleading' information from a sales rep

To try and keep customers in the last 6 months of their contract, Vodafone are offering early upgrades to 'valued customers'. They are offering to waive any remaining monthly instalments left on a current mobile contract so you can start a new 24 month plan with them. As if anyone nearing the end of their contract would be so stupid. I want mobile reception with my mobile.

16173 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Incompetent, unhelpful, deceitful. at 7 Mar 2011 12:18:10 PM
Wireless broadband:

1.Low bandwidth has often resulted in slow data delivery, especially during peak times and on weekends. This is usually caused by an ISP who values profit above customer service and connects too many subscribers to a network node with inadequate bandwidth. As a domestic user I expected this from a company with a reputation like Vodafone's, and tolerated it.

2.Response has often failed for lengthy periods, probably due to overloading of the Domain Name Servers. This is usually due to poor configuration and incompetent management.

3.Complete failure occurred at the beginning of the year, and required my robust altercation with shop staff, all of whom demonstrated a complete lack of technical knowledge, in order for it to be restored.

4.Connectivity has at times been impossible, suggesting that the system is both faulty and overloaded.

5.Complete failure of the service occurred last Wednesday and the service remains unavailable. No changes have been made to my equipment, the modem is recognized by the server, acquires IP addresses for the host, gateway and DNS servers, and I can ping the servers. At first I was also able to ping other machines, one in Australia and one in Singapore, so connection had been made to the Internet, but client software reported an inability to access the required domains, suggesting failure of the DNS.

Getting no 3G @ South Brisbane all morning. iPhone 3GS usually gets 2-3 bars + 3G. Today I get a rare 1 bar + 3G dropping out to 4 bars and no 3G. I've rebooted the phone several times and hit airport mode to reset network. Still having massive issues. Usually get random drop outs of data too generally.

I’m sick of Vodafone, I never receive messages until 4 hours later, my coverage is shit in Cairns, I am for ever losing signal, 1/2 through phone calls, and have to phone people back all the time, I can’t even use my phone inside, my house or at work, I have to go outside all the time for clear signal, majority of the time I barely even get 1 bar of signal on my phone, when I try and use the neton my phone it takes forever and then the server stops, there’s no transparency with their billing, I.E no itemized bill, I can’t wait to get out of my contract, 2 more months to go, I would never use them again, and I have been a loyal customer over 14 years, so you can spend all of those millionswith the cricket team trying to get me back, but I will never go back to you.

16156 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL at 6 Mar 2011 08:56:03 AM
I have been with Vodafone for 14 years, I once changed to another provider for 3 weeks and they were back then not so good so came back. No Service pretty much all last week while in Sydney. Cannot send emails when I'm not in a wi-fi area. Apparently people are spamming the outgoing emails and Vodafone have advised Telstra, Optus etc.. but are looking at getting a new server???? Phoned a few times about the 'No Service' to be told to turn the 3G off. So the point of having 3G is what? Was charged twice for mobile monthly payment so rang for Januarys bill and was told their mistake so it will be fixed, Hello, February's bill, now $10 overdue and another double up so rang yet again and was told their mistake again will be credited. Rang 5 days later - nothing done. I could go on but like everybody that is with Vodafone, there are MAJOR problems with their service or lack of, roll on end of contract. Definately changing the 3 mobiles in this household to Telstra.

Dear Vodafone,

Thank you for your kind reply.

Please find following the answers to the many questions you surely could have investigated and answered yourself instead of making me (the customer) do all the running around.

General Postcode for this area is 4077.

Occurs inside and out of building, inside on ground level and on first floor - no coverage, outside in the open - no coverage, driving in my car along the roads listed above - no coverage

Hi XXXXX,

Thank you for your email.

Please be advised you will need to provide your residential address as the coverage can only be investigated based on the address that you contracted with.

Can you also please provide the nearest cross street to your residential address.

You will also need to provide three specific coverage issues within the past 72 hours.

Kind regards,

To whom it concerns,

I think you fail to understand the actual coverage concern I have raised - it has nothing to do with my residential address (therefore I will not be providing it for you) - my phone works fine at home, along with many other areas. The purpose of my original email was to highlight that you have a coverage blackspot in the area in which I work. I have next to no reception on my iphone when I am in XXXXXXXXXXXX, Richlands Queensland.

This really is a simple matter that could easily be resolved by:
a) Vodafone sending a technician to XXXXXXXXXXXX, Richlands to test coverage
b) identifying a lack of coverage in the area
c) admitting there is a coverage issue and updating your "coverage map" to suit
d) rectifying the issue and improving coverage in this area.

As I have said in previous correspondence (but I will repeat myself incase you didn't read the first time - Telstra mobile coverage is 100% in XXXXXXXXXXXX - both indoors and out side. Vodafone coverage in XXXXXXXXXXXXXX is pathetic to say the least.

I have been a Vodafone customer for many years, and quite frankly if Vodafone continue to send me emails making this a drawn out process and making silly excuses I will sooner transfer my account to Telstra and encourage all within my networks to change from Vodafone too.

Vodafone - I am giving you the opportunity to value your customer and retain me. If coverage in the area is improved I will have no problems continuing to be a Vodafone customer. If coverage is not improved in the region I will no longer be your customer. Therefore the outcome is in your hands.

What I fail to understand is why Telstra coverage can be perfect! And after all these years Vodafone coverage isn't on par.

Your speedy response is greatly appreciated,

XXXXXXXXX

Response (Emil) 01/06/2010 08:26 AM
Hi XXXXXX,

Please be advised in order for me to be able to raise a Service Request for our technicians to investigate I will require you to provide the specific addresses that the coverage issues are experienced along with three examples over the past 72 hours for each of the addresses as without this information the Service Request will be declined.

Kind regards,

Emil
Correspondence Team

Customer (XXXXXXXXXXXXX) 01/06/2010 09:43 PM
> Dear Vodafone,

Thank you for your response. The specific address is XXXXXXXXXX Richlands Queensland - thats pretty specific to me. The entire street! But if you really require a pin pointed located a good place to start is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Richlands.

Secondly - three examples have been provided previously with the coverage complaint - but for your reference I have copied them below -
> 1. Monday 24/05/2010 - low signal strength dropping to read "NO SIGNAL" on regular occasions both outside and inside building NO 3G coverage at all.
> 2. Tuesday 25/05/2010 - low signal strength dropping to read "NO SIGNAL" on regular occasions both outside and inside building NO 3G coverage at all.
> 3. Wednesday 26/05/2010 - same as above
> 4. Thursday 27/05/2010 - same as above
> 5. Friday 28/05/2010 - same as above

Look forward to hearing your response this time - as I have said this is your opportunity to retain me as a valued customer of Vodafone. This process of emailing back and forth having me answer countless questions that could easily be obtained if you sent a technician out to the location specified to investigate signal strength is not a very good example of the efficiencies of Vodafone, nor is it a good reflection on the value that Vodafone place on their Customers.

XXXXXXXXXXXXX

------------------------------

Response (Emil) 02/06/2010 07:12 AM
Hi XXXXXXX,

As previously requested I require 3 coverage issue examples within the last 72 hours.

I advise that a technician is sent through the area once a Service Request has been raised however as the information requested is yet to be provided a Service Request has not been submitted.

Kind regards,

Emil

-------------------------------

Customer (XXXXXXXXXXX) 02/06/2010 07:28 AM

> This is ridiculous. Shall I bold the FIVE examples of coverage issues below so that you understand that I have provided them now on 3 occasions!

1. Monday 24/05/2010 - low signal strength dropping to read "NO SIGNAL" on regular occasions both outside and inside building NO 3G coverage at all.
> 2. Tuesday 25/05/2010 - low signal strength dropping to read "NO SIGNAL" on regular occasions both outside and inside building NO 3G coverage at all.
> 3. Wednesday 26/05/2010 - same as above
> 4. Thursday 27/05/2010 - same as above
> 5. Friday 28/05/2010 - same as above

Obviously all the above mean there is no COVERAGE on a regular basis which means I cannot use the phone nor receive emails etc... because the COVERAGE is so inconsistent in Richlands Queensland.

Hopefully this meets your needs to raise a request now. Where are you based to not understand what I have written?

Regards,

XXXXXXXXXXX

----------------------

Customer (XXXXXXXX) 02/06/2010 07:59 AM
> Emil,

Within the previous 72 hours the dates on the initial examples provided could simply be changed.

1. Monday 31/06/2010 - low signal strength dropping to read "NO SIGNAL" on regular occasions both outside and inside building NO 3G coverage at all.
> 2. Tuesday 01/06/2010 - low signal strength dropping to read "NO SIGNAL" on regular occasions both outside and inside building NO 3G coverage at all.
> 3. Wednesday 02/06/2010 - same as above

Hope this helps,

Please let me know the outcome.

I moved to Brisbane from Perth about a month ago. I used vividwireless while in Perth, but they don't yet have coverage in Brisbane. So, I had to buy a new prepaid internet service. I went with Vodafone. I've had it for 3 weeks, and I already hate the thing.

It drops out constantly, it never gives me a speed greater than 3kbps, and most of the time I'm forced to restart my computer before it will find the network again. I contacted Vodafone, they said all these problems were caused because I was outside the coverage zone. Lies. I'm actually close to the middle of the Brisbane coverage area, I checked it before I bought the darn thing.

Here's hoping they fix it, or at least give in to my demands to refund me. I'm honestly surprised that Vodafone are still in business, given the horrible service they offer.

I have two mobiles and mobile broadband with vodafone. For the last 8 weeks i have had major service disruptions. I cannot acces the internet off my "smartphone" my calls drop out or just beeps in my ear and displays a call failed on my screen. People are telling me they are sending me text messages which i haven't recieved. Then two days later i will get inundated with text messages. and With my mobile broadband everytime i try to access the internet it says page cannot be displayed. We are seriously sick of this and are thinking it might be time to change!! Shape up Vodafone!!

16128 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is uber-fail at 3 Mar 2011 10:34:30 PM
From the top:
1. Despite having mid-high signal strength, phone calls bounce to message bank.
2. Message bank messages take minutes to play or time out.
3. Text messages can be anywhere from instant to overnight in delivery.
4. Call drop-outs increasing. Return calls don't go through - "call failed."
5. 3g barely works, continually drops.
6. Internet access continually times out.
7. Severity of issues increasing.
8. Call dropouts to tech support...

on the vodafone website they have a list of all the sites updated through Australia. I thought wow I live not 3ks to the so called site location. I had one day of great data speed and 3 out of 5 bars which was better than have to live with 2g. Now my phone is only able to pick cells miles away, and this new cell very rarely shows up on my phone. Vodafone your nothing but greedy corporate liars.

16125 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible at 3 Mar 2011 07:33:35 PM
I had been using my iPhone as a wireless modem while on holiday in Sydney, and it worked a little better than in Brisbane (that is, it worked some of the time instead of hardly working at all). Over the month, I had downloaded about 100 MB on average per day for about a week and a half (coming close to my 1.5GB limit). Around the end of the billing cycle, I came back home and had a few days when I wasn't tethering, and hardly used my data at all (since I knew I was close to my limit).

So I was pretty shocked when they sent my bill, and said that I had downloaded 980 MB on the second last day of my billing period, and other data that I could not have possibly downloaded - my service is so terrible that 3G in Brisbane tends to just time out and you have to refresh up to 10 times before you can get anything to load, and VHA alleges that I downloaded so much in Brisbane where 3G doesn't work! The amount was more than three times bigger than the most I had been able to download in a day in Sydney, where I was in an area where the 3G sort of worked...

The total charge was $550, which was a massive shock when my bill is $54 usually ($49 + iPhone payment).

I emailed them, and even though it said that they would get back in five working days, it was more like eight working days (and a weekend in-between) so it was almost two weeks before I got the response. Even though it was impossible that I had used the data in question, and they were clearly in error, the best I could get them to do was to reduce the bill by 50%, which is ridiculous.

I want to file a complaint with the TIO, but the problem is that really only Vodafone are the ones who can prove that they made the error, and I doubt they would be happy to help - they are probably pretty happy to be able to charge ridiculous amounts for data that they aren't providing, and there being absolutely nothing the user can do...

What's more, the people at the store seem to have set up my account to automatically charge my credit card when the bill is due, against my will (I pay my bills by B-pay, usually as soon as I get them) and I told the people in the store that was how I was going to pay. So it tried to take $550 out of the card account and when that was declined they decided to charge me an extra $15 dishonor fee on the next bill. Again, totally their fault and totally nothing I can do about it.

Vodafone are nothing but criminals if you ask me. Not only did they happily sign me up when their network has been over-capacity for at least a year, but they gouge me for services they're not providing and that I didn't use.

How is it possible that my handset reads "No Service 3G"? How is it possible that I can't make outbound calls when my handset says I've got 3G and all my service bars are full...mind you I'm in the middle of the Surfers Paradise on the 25th level? I am experiencing this problem right now!!!!! I've switched off my handset and on again twice now and i have 3G and 3 bars of service and any outbound call I make FAILS!!!!

16114 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Thank you come again at 3 Mar 2011 12:24:02 PM
Callback receiced from dude who insisted first thing he informed me was he was a "floor manager".
Advised him I had 6 different complaints- call drop outs, customer service, mobile broadband, missing notes they were meant to email to me 4 different times, technical support, billing
Like any other person there he could only help me with one issue- the bill of over 300 for my 79 plan- 1300 and 1800 numbers are charged at a higher rate- so next time there is a flood and cyclone in Queensland dont be ringing for help from the flood appeal or centrelink when you cant get to work and your house floods- they will take any support you get and suck it into their next bill.
Lodge a complaint with the TIO and contact Vodafone as per TIO to advise not paying bill as is part of the dispute.
Next morning, at work desk...receive text message....ah! Vodafone....."You have an outstanding bill."
Phone Vodafone...numbnuts tells me there is no note of my call yesterday to advise of TIO reference number."
Ring back - customer service- 2nd person suddenly can see the note and will stop further contact.

What is going on there? Vodafone all I want after 7 years is out- can you please get that right for me? Please???
12 Apr 2011 03:17:01 PM: As much as Vodafone sucks - please explain how it's their fault that you racked up call charges? While the circumstances are unfortunate, their call charges are not hidden and you have no right to refuse to pay just because you didn't make yourself familiar with the mobile plan you signed for.

Have requested my account notes 4 times now, each time with the 5-7 working days spiel. Months on still no notes to support my TIO dispute. Conspiracy??

Was also informed via email that my calls arent 'dropping out' and look like they only have minimal reception so I cant hear the other person and to ensure I don't get billed on a quiet line "make sure you hang up your phone properly."

Seriously?!?! Hope to be released on parole from my Vodafone contract. Thinking of going Virgin Mobile for mobile broadband and mobile phone service- anyone got any horrors there I should know about?

Does anyone have the contact details for Nigel the CEO of Vodafone? Wondering if he can help me without being flicked around 5 times?

I have had repeated complaints to the rude vodafone customer service people about continual drop outs and no service and "gremlins" in my phone, I have received a 25%discount on my next three bills! But it didn't show up on my most recent bill! Now I have no service and can't even call the pathetic service provider. To say the least I am fed up, I have 5 months of my contract left until I can ditch this pathetic service provider and go with someone that can provide a service of some sorts.

16100 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Totally Useless at 2 Mar 2011 07:40:16 PM
Once upon a time...I stupidly went on a 12 month $49 contract with VF + $10 for insurance.
Around 1/2/11 my phone suddenly decided not to charge. Left it on charge all night didn't charge.
2/2/11 Charged it all day at work, still didn't budge so decided to bring it to VF Morayfield. Didn't have a loan phone so they told me to go to Northlakes.
3/2/11 Went to Northlakes, Loan phone was not up to par with the money I'm paying them so they told me to go to Chermside and go to FoneBiz.
4/2/11 The phone charged a bit, lasted me a half days worth, was still calm and collected. And was Ok with not having a phone on the weekend.
7/2/11 Went to Chermside Fonebiz, it was under warranty so it was free, turnaround was 2-3 days.
9/2/11 Got the phone back from Fonebiz, was working fine, they upgraded the software didn't find anything wrong with the battery which was initially the first diagnosis. Phone was working fine and charging for about a week and a half.
20/2/11 Left to charge at night
21/2/11 Woke up to find phone not charged at all (again) Still cool and calm.
23/2/11 Went back to Chermside to Fonebiz but stopped by Chermside Vodafone to let them know (they didn't have a loan phone anyway) Guy was rude, told me to go to Milton (their service centre) at 4pm during rush hour telling me that they're open til 5.30pm and they'll fix it in 1 Hour (I knew it was bullshit). So wnet to Fonebiz and told them what happen, said they'd have to send it to Sydney (10-12 days). Decided to just send it via VF.
24/2/11 Went to VF Northlakes (seeing as they were the ones who told me about Fonebiz in the first place). Sent it away, no loan phone want me to go the 3 to see if they have one and by that time I was no longer a cool cucumber, was an angry red tomato.
Rang VF customer service to let them know I have no phone and everything and told them to waive my fee til they fix my phone. They took note and put it on record.
2/3/11 Phone was ready, come pick it up via txt message. So went after work, and guess what,,,,Yeah thats right They couldn't fix it. Here's what their 'report' said,"The handset has been assessed and has been deeemed to have been subjected to physical distress which has damaged the unit. This is unable to be covered under the handset warranty" What utter bullcrap, I did not drop my phone, and wouldn't Fonebiz picked up on it when I first got it fixed?
Day of hell continues..Rang VF customer service about it.
The best they could do... Pay them $125 for the exit fee to go on another contract with a different handset or pay them $293.96 + 60 to get out of the whole contract(might as well pay the $60 a month it all adds up the same)If I go via Insurance I still have to pay them a fee (ridiculous) They think money just grow on trees or they think I have a goose laying golden eggs. Either way they want me to pay them money for services that I am not getting. My old phone is locked on another network and it doesnt have 3g which I'm paying for.
Tell me how is this fair?? Do I have a leg to stand on if I take this further or should I just shrug it off and pay them the $293 just to get the hell out of their evil, money hungry clutches?

Hi,

I recently called up Three mobile to discuss my options and I was told by the rep that Vodafone owns three and had a great $45 plan and that switching would make sense. Anyways, I paid my outstanding Three account off and got transferred to Vodafone - all good. Anyways, I call up Vodafone in order to unlock my phone (I called Three up and got service regarding Vodafone so thought all good to call and sort it) - they said that they could not assist, and that I had to call Three customer to sort it out - I called Three and was put on hold a number of times (waited 20 mins before getting cut out) and the time I finally got through, I was put through to ten different people and put on hold for a collective period of an hour and a half (this is with Three) - Anyways, I got my bill for the 14 days I have used Vodafone, and on the bill is an amount of $70 for all the time I spent waiting for Three after being told to call them by Vodafone - anyways,Vodafone don't just provide bad service, they charge you for making calls to a subsiduary company - poor service so far, and bad billing practices - what am I in for... connection sucks...

Driving north over the Gateway bridge gives you a 97% chance of call drop out. All my clients and colleagues know this situation now as I have been saying the same for over 6 months. It took Vodafail 45 minutes to answer my call last Friday (Feb 25) and all the staff member could say was that the call centre staff had complained to management that they needed additional staff.
After they logged by complaint, they said that an engineer would get back to me. Problem was I did not ask when - 4 days later, still no resolution or call from an engineer (except I don't initiate a call if I know I am heading north on the Gateway)
I too received the "apology" from Nigel Dews. No reply is allowed as it was considered a "marketing email". What a joke. Well after 10 years with Vodafone & previous iterations, it is time to change.

I have both vodafone mobile and internet and neither of them have reception unless I go outside. I am currently looking for work and only have the mobile, in order to receive phone calls from people I have had to purchase a prepaid telstra mobile and divert my calls to that so I can sound professional when contacted by a potential employer. By doing this I have to pay an extra $20 a month just to receive calls on top of my 24 month plan which I started 6 months ago.

I have resolved my problem with VF. Thanks to the advice on this site I finally contacted the TIO after weeks of going nowhere with the so called 'customer service' staff.

I still look at other peoples' pain stories on here because I wonder how long this disreputable company will be allowed to get away with fraud.

Definition of fraud goes something like: Accepting money by false pretenses when contracting by verbal promise or written commitment to supply goods and or services knowing full well you are unable to actually supply said goods or services.

Also just wondering when the word 'their' was changed to be spelled 'there' as is common with postings on this site?

15984 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Upgrade Stuff up at 25 Feb 2011 08:51:09 AM
I went to upgrade not one but four phones - you'd think that would make me an improtant customer. All phones are off contract so I was expecting a little love.

Unfortunately I went to the Carindale store in Brisbane on a Thursday night and due to the unusual amount of customers I had to wait 40mins - I then had to go through the usual rubbish that comes with a new contract only to be told at the very last hurdle they couldn't do it as my bill was two days overdue.

I thought no problem - I'll just pay it over the credit card there and then - but no - that is no good as the system takes up to 3 hours to register it!

This made the young service officer very amused. I spend approximately $300 - 350 per month with this company and because Im 2 days late - I always pay at months end - I get shafted when Im trying to agree to staying for another 2 years.

I was livid and the reaction of the sales staff annoyed me even further.

I have tried to ring the store on 07 30184502 but I cant get through as no one answers - I rang the coustomer service line and got a very unhelpful man in India.

This company used to make me feel special - now im just a 10 digit number.

15790 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Almost epic at 21 Feb 2011 05:53:04 PM
Ok, The 3G is laughable, doesn't work 8/10 times. So I don't even think it would be possible to use my 2 gig allocation. Lucky the phone thethers to my wifi.. At home at least.

When I went to the chermside store to buy a phone I got stuffed around by this guy that had no idea how to use their own software. I had to continually tell him which fields to fill out and how and he had to et the other store person to help on 4 occassions as well. It's not rocket science! It says first name, one would think it obvious this is where your first name goes? So after 70 minutes! Just trying to complete the application with this guy it failed my credit check on 50 dollar a month plan when I had plenty of supporting payslips and bank statements. Oddly my bank gave me a 5k credit card (which I was forced to get in order to submit my application online and avoid the shop assistants). I completed the form by myself on the net, put in all my info and details in the right boxes and got approved...

The store people can be very inept, the call centre people are about as bad. If you ever get through to the right department withou your phone battery going flat from being on hold.

Got a message warning me I hadn't paid my bill and must immediately do so! Weird because my bill gets direct debited from my credit card. Check the credit card and nothing. Called them back to inform them they had forgot to debit my account. They claim the debit was denied.. Weird no sign of any attempt on my bank account, credit card with plenty of credit. So they tell me to bpay it. I do, and phone to confirm this. three days later (on the correct billing date) they debit me the full amount again!!

I think you know the rest...

Can any one help.
Two and a half years ago I was conned into signing into a contract with vodafone. I believed that I would be provided with a service. Over time I realised that I was being taken for an idiot. Two areas of concern are TXT's from my cell phone not being delivered. This created a personal situation where my daughters felt I was no longer intersted in them. The main concern on a different contract was not being able to get a signal to link with the internet. Rather than drone on I subsequently purchased an alternative sevice and attempted to contact Vodafone to organise termination. This has been an education to say the least. can anyone provide me with an email address, surface address or phone number that I can get a response. If this is being monitored by vodafone be assured that all my efforts have be documented and what ever the outcome State and Federal representatives will be kept informed.
20 Feb 2011 04:40:44 PM: Hi there

Vodafone do have their customer help number 1555 (take a packed lunch and plenty of water) and I believe they also have an email address, something like online.help@vodafone.com.au (you may need to go to their website to confirm the address).

Another method to contact them is via their facebook page, you have to join facebook and find their service, Vodafone Australia, ironically you have to 'like' them to contact them.

The team there appear to be improving with some of their customer service skills but IMHO they still have a lot to learn - but at least it is a starting position.

As an alternative check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, the page details the steps you can take to get a resolution.

Good luck!

been having intermittent coverage on both mobile internet and mobile phone for days, had no coverage for 13 hours yesterday. wanted to cancel my mobile broadband contract and was able to contact vodafone only when coverage was back... because it is my only source of communication.

however i was told that i need to find a telephone to contact vodafone when i was not able to connect to the internet. first, the waiting time to get to a customer service person on the other end takes a really long time, secondly, that person would most likely transfer you to another department whom you would need to repeat your issue to (again). without vodafone coverage in my area, i'd be spending a bomb on calling vodafone from another telco.

thanks for the inconvenience.

On a contract ($69/month combo) plus a contract for wireless broadband ($39.95/month) and live in Toowong, 3km from Brisbane's CBD. Bugger all connectivity with the wireless internet and flat out maintaining 2 bars GPRS on the phone. Brand new Blackberry Bold as part of the incentive to renew with them.

Have purchased a Telstra Prepaid Wireless USB PLUS an Optus Prepaid Wireless USB just to reassure myself that it was Vodafone's issue and not the house, or the handset.

The funny part about all of it is that I need to plug in my Telstra or Optus stick to get online to pay my Vodafone bill every month. Have finally contacted TIO after being ever so patient with Vodafone's response "improvements are planned" and now awaiting response from them. Wish me luck!

15719 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail... at 18 Feb 2011 12:57:09 PM
After trying my SIM in different phones the only conclusion that can be reached is that Vodafone are a definite VODAFAIL. I have been with them for 7 years now but in recent months have little or no reception and when i do have full reception the call disconnects and i have to make several calls to finish the one call. Most time the call wont even connect - even on full service!!! Not to mention the changing of my Cap Plan without my knowledge and me being up for over $200 in calls on a $49 plan...... NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER and am very ready to DITCH them!

15717 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is terrible. at 18 Feb 2011 12:26:22 PM
Don't know where to begin - long term problems with both customer service and coverage. Latest problem? Noticed that I had a direct debit coming out of my bank account from vodafone which I never permitted - I have never given any company permission to regularly direct debit my bank a/c. Vodafone had my credit card details after I made a one off direct debit last year. Phoned up to complain and request that my contract (due to end june) be cancelled due to this issue and other extensive problems and instead of honouring my request to cancel the contract, they offer me a 'free handset upgrade' and suggested an iphone. However I find later that the 'free' upgrade was only if I agreed to another 12 or 24 month contract - so not really 'free'! During this phonecall I had to speak to numerous different departments and each time I was transferred to the next department, the phonecall was disconnected. I would wait for a cbk just in case but after waiting for a bit, I would phone back and be told I would have to wait or get a cbk. I would select the cbk option and when somebody would finally call me back, the call was disconnected again. I was getting so freakin annoyed. I was on the phone to vodafone on and off for around 3 hours and I had to phone them around half a dozen times during this time due to dropped calls. I am constantly having businesses, friends and family claim that they have been trying to phone me with no success, however no missed calls appear on my phone - occasionally a voicemail comes through hours or days later. The internet coverage is crap. I'm so sick of the vodafone pain...........................there are real staff working for vodafone - they just appear to work in another country, NOT australia.

I am loosing customers calls at my address at Ormiston. Each time I ring Vodafone to tell them of my problems with coverage I am told it is being updated next month. We will be running out of months soon. it is very sad that we are ringing people in another country that are very difficult to understand because of our language barrier (which adds to our frustrations) and they are just telling us the bull that they have been told. They have no way of really helping us, which makes it even harder to stay calm. Vodafone .......I want out of my contract...........and deart I say that filthy word I want to be under the "Telstra" network.

No coverage, 1hour wait for help desk on phone, coouldn't call my husbands telstra mobile (it said it was disconnected) for 3 weeks until it was fixed by vodafail. no vodafones could call his telstra number. I tried contacting vodafone 4 times and each time had to wait over 40 min on hold to speak to an operator only to be transferred to another operator and having to wait extended times again.
17 Feb 2011 09:50:02 AM: Vodafail.com needs your waiting times to illustrate the unacceptable and excessive waiting times experienced from Customer Care.

Please use the On Hold Again? located at the top of the page to record your experience.

If you have tried to contact Customer Care without success or not to your satisfaction the next step is to contact the TIO.

The details may be found on the tab How To Complain located at the top of the page.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!!!

Have been with Vodafone for 5 months - have yet to get a correct bill - my phone payment never reduces from 23 payments remaining. 3G data - what a joke - all that ever happens is my phone sits there with the wheel spinning - nothing coming down the "tube". Calls are constantly dropping out, or getting garbled sounds when people speak. Sends my SMS's multiple times to people- WTF. Have called and now they have started giving me bogas reference numbers and consultants "claim" to be in Melbourne, but said "how's the city of churches?" when I told them I was in Brisbane. TIO called - lets see what resolution happens.

I am constantly coping it from relatives and friends who say i "ignore their calls" when i actually NEVER recieve or had missed calls! My internet barely works, and i live in a built up area, im not out in the sticks somewhere!

I got a iphone 4 in my new plan which i was so excited about, but i am willing to just give back the phone and get rid of this plan!

I thought vodafone were awesome because i had like 2GB's of internet! ummmm.... i cannot even use MY INTERNET !!!!!! :( im so over it!

I had a plan with vodafone before this new plan, however i lived in a more remote place, so i stayed with vodafone for my new plan, thinking that now i live in a 'city' the reception would be awesome... WRONG!

I moved away from my home town for uni, i struggle financially, and it makes me so upset that i cannot even talk to my family as much as i would like, yet i still have to PAY for this horrible service!!!

its so not fair, and it makes me feel so angry and upset, its like they just take advantage of me. Im just a poor little nursing student! I just wanna talk to my family back home!

- Sarah

P.S - After ringing and waiting for AGES, i finally got onto a real human, and it cut out. I rang again, waited forever, and it cut out. A THIRD TIME i rang and it CUT OUT. There is now a beautiful big CRACK ON my screen as i PEGGED It at my wall at a great speed, and it actually got stuck into my wall. we had to bog up the wall when we moved out! damn vodafone should pay for that repair! ;)

15607 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I am over Vodafone at 15 Feb 2011 03:41:48 PM
I have been with Vodafone now for several years. All has been mostly ok till this last plan which ends 1/9/2011, and that was organised over the phone because I had a call from Vodafone I gather because my previous plan was approaching the end. I've always had Nokia phones and they've been fine till this last one. Not long after receiving the new Nokia 6220 Classic I noticed that the battery didn't hold charge very long, barely a day on many occasions. I was used to the previous Nokia N73 battery lasting for at least 4 days. So often it would happen that I would fully charge the 6220 at night and the next day I would not even get through the first call and it would die. I took it back to the Vodaphone shop in Maroochydore and I was told that I would have to pay for a new battery. How is this right???
Also there were so many 'drop-outs' and many messages would come up to 4 days after they were sent. I gave up trying to contact Vodaphone, after being left on hold for sometimes an hour or more?? and then you get this 'Lara'. I want to speak to a person. I tried sending an email on their impossible website - I simply asked for someone to please ring me but no, I received some complicated return email where I had to click on this and that and it got me nowhere. Vodafone Customer Service is non-existant. I would like them to give me some very good reasons for staying with Vodafone.
15 Feb 2011 04:20:27 PM: That is not good!

Feel your pain.......

Have you tried their facebook page?

The team on there are pretty useless but getting marginally and slowly better in their actions and responses. They may be able to help regarding the battery replacement.

Otherwise try the TIO, contact details at the top of the page on the How To Complain tab, why wait for your contract to expire when you can go to a more responsible provider?

Also agree their email system does not follow the normal conventional email etiquette of simply hitting the reply button, to force users to write in-between lines is a farce and should cease.

Hope the above helps!

15573 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is cancelling tomorrow!! at 14 Feb 2011 05:18:09 PM
AFTER MONTHS AND MONTHS. I will FINALLY be free from Vodafone tomorrow, when I cancel both my contracts.

Whats the best service to go with aside from Vodafone and 3?? I only need a $29 cap, so I was thinking virgin, are they any good?

Any ideas?
14 Feb 2011 06:04:06 PM: I have been with Virgin and never had a problem that they couldn't fix.
When I leave Vodafail I will consider them again.
14 Feb 2011 06:27:48 PM: How would you say Virgins call centre(s) are? are they overseas? helpful?
or are they as a mess like vodafone?
14 Feb 2011 08:36:33 PM: I was with virgin just a few days ago , surprisingly I only don't get network coverage near my house , i am just 3 km from Melbourne CBD I was under the impression that the optus network was better than VHA network. But nope .. the only hope i have near my house is full coverage provided by telstra.

I have come to realize that telstra are a bit more expensive than all other providers. But the extra charge is justified because of network coverage ... problem free customer service ... one bill payment along with landlines, foxtel etc you get discounts... the best part it that you get the fastest browsing speed on your mobile compared to other providers.

I have been a Vodafone customer since they started out in Australia - quite a few years, I had always been happy with the service provided. However, since I obtained my iPhone 3 some twelve months ago, I have had nothing but problems with Vodafone. Calls drop out, reception goes at anytime and in places that you wouldn't expect, SMS messages don't arrive or arrive two days later - same with voicemail messages. The most frustrating thing is when reception fails and I am with people who use other carriers and their reception is fine! Time now to switch to another carrier I think - am so over Vodafone!

Internet is very sporadically working. Some days it is good, but most of the time I need it, it doesn't work (or take 6 minutes to load a page). I posted on facebook to get them to contact me, received a call 28 hours later (when I wasn't around). I tried calling today, was on hold for 1 hour and no answer. Have contacted the TIO... this is the second time I've contacted them in less than 6 months (last time was due to a data pack not being added and they overcharged me).

What the heck is so wrong with the people that run this company?

15483 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Still no help! at 11 Feb 2011 11:50:11 AM
I've been having issues with vodafone for the past 4 months, and I have been posting on here for the past month. (You'd think by now, Vodafone would've helped me!).

After contacting the TIO, Vodafone agreed to cancel my contract. YAY!
They send me a vague text message agreeing to the cancellation, but saying that they'll send a letter with more details. Two week later, still no letter...despite getting a new bill in the mailbox from Vodafone. Ironically, I was charged $110 for the $29 cap. I've been on contract for a YEAR...and NEVER have gone over my cap, let alone by over 80 dollars!!!!
I decided I'd pay it rather than put more hassles on my already growing stress with dealing with vodafone.

My question is, once I (or if I) successfully cancel my contract, can vodafone lock out my phone's which I received through them on contact? I have two phones on $29 cap for 24 months. I obviously haven't paid them off for 24 months, but if you think about it, I've paid for two $29 for 12 months each, equaling a total of around 24 months. In that case, would it be alright to keep on of the phones and send back the other one?? Or will vodafone just lock out my phone and make it impossible to use with another service provider???
11 Feb 2011 11:52:32 AM: Btw, I also called up 2 days ago, spent 35 minutes on the phone with vodafone..only to be told that it was in fact the TIO who was going to contact me. I have since learnt that it is in fact vodafones responsibility to contact me for the cancellation...

fail!

Vodafone gives me "reception" everywhere and yet data works hardly ever. It's constantly failing over to GPRS - in the middle of the city! - or just refuses to open anything.
I'd go back to 3, but my money's on them using Voda's infrastructure soon enough. Pleast let it be vice versa!

mate you missed the boat.
people arent complaining about their PIN or signing up with just a credit card....people are complaining about service being paid for and not provided.
I am complaining because they dont call back, poor record keeping in call centre notes, fraudulent sales (selling a connection to someone in an uncovered area- and then telling the customer it was their job to check coverage- hmm let me lick my finger, stick it in the air and test for coverage!)and Calls dropping out yet the call time ticking over and eating into your paid allowance.
Sure people could check out Optus and Telstra, but the reason we are posting here is because we are Vodafone customers and not being listened to by Vodafone.
Vodafone is looking as efficient as a government department in my books.
Oh and good work on becoming an ex-employee- its bad enough the existing lack of service without your merry go round essay without a point.
