Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

18295 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EXORBITANT at 4 Jun 2011 11:07:00 PM
Until recently, I have had 2 years of relatively happy iPhone 3GS use on Vodafone's 3G network; As I am now finding, the seemingly unavoidable delayed voice messages, mysterious missing text(s) delivered hours/days later, poor signal in apparently well-covered areas (as demonstrated in Vodafone's 3G signal coverage literature availabe at their high street shops), and painfully slow internet/data connection speeds were not isolated to "just poor old me".
BUT recent pains are far greater, and have increased significantly with this emerging issue of "BATERY LIFE". My iPhone 3GS started to fail miserably, apps were crashing, restarting, freezing etc and Google Maps was pathetic. So i took the phone to Apple, they checked it out and althogh they couldn't find the source of the errors, they replaced it for $250.00. Generous enough, I thought.
Thinking the problem could lie at the hands of my service provider, I apprached Vodafone and talked with a customer service rep in a City branch store. He checked and apparently I had an "old" SIM card, the same one I had when taking out my original contract some 3+ years previous. Advised by this representatove of Vodafone, I took my new SIM and restarted my iPhone with marginal improvement.
Then I went on holiday for 6 weeks to the UK whereby my iPhone sat dormant apart as a phone, instead provoding my entertainment on train journeys as a games machine (Tiger Woods golf) and functinooing as my music device.
So 6 weeks later I return to Aus and connect back to Vodafone's network. And to my surprise, my battery was dead in 2.5 - 3 hours. Every day. With no apps functioning. And if I used apps such as mapping or GPS, or dared to enter conversation with fellow mobile phone users, the battery life would visibly tick diwn under observation.
Anticipating the end was nigh for my "new" 3GS, and not wanting to go to Apple for another $250 replacement which may go the same way, I went to Vodafone and upgraded my contract (FREE as I'd reached 21 months) and opted for a HTC Desire HD. Now the battery life on this thing is SHOCKING. But I wonder how much this is to do with teh service provider as my iPhone (now simply an iPod and games machine) battery now lasts up to 9 days on standby which includes iPod use. Now this is shocking - no SIM - 9 days; with SIM (no apps or usage) 3 hours. SOmething is definiitely wrong here. now the HTC deviceis an interesting one too; Friends of mine have the same phone without the battery life problems. And no-one else I know with iPhone 3GS OR iPhone 4 has the battery life issues i have observed and documented.
Is there a problem related to the service provider's SIM card and battery life? Has anyone found this in their area? My evidence is absolutely clear and unequivocal (9 days versus 3 hours) and I guess I wuold like to know more about it.. Any suggestions??

5 Jun 2011 06:11:40 PM: Do you live in a poor 3g coverage area? If your spending a lot of time in a poor coverage area your phone may be constantly searching for a better signal, changing base stations and switching between 3g and 2g, as it struggles to maintain a good signal whilst prioritising 3g.
11 Jun 2011 05:32:54 PM: OMG I have the exact same problem with battery life. I have samsung galaxy S and my battery only last a few hours with no applications open. If i make a phone call it will prob last 2,3hrs. I have to charge everyday. SO BAD. I originally thought there was somefin wrong with my phone. But looks like its a voda prob.

Right i rang the call centre to tell them my recharge does not work then they said that i do not need to recharge as i have all ready got credit on my phone i said i can top up if i want to then they hung up on me so i will now be going back to the TIO i have had it with Vodafone's call centre's and the company i did not deserve to be treated like that
18280 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic at 3 Jun 2011 09:47:11 PM
I have been experiencing drop-outs mid phone calls, delays in sending and receiving texts, my reception totally disappearing for several minutes only to come back for a second and disappear again, connection error messages when trying to make calls when my reception bars are showing I have some reception, and my battery dying after only a few hours for several months now. I went into a Vodafone store and was given a new SIM card and told this would fix the problem. It didn't. I went into a Vodafone store again and spoke to someone at Customer Service when I asked to terminate my contract. The person on the phone told me I didn't need to terminate my contract and that he had a solutiong for me. He passed me on to a technician who changed my Network Settings in my phone. This made my reception issues WORSE! I have since contacted the TIO and within 15 minutes they emailed me saying they had forwarded my complaint on to Vodafone. It has now been over 72 hours since I contacted the TIO and I haven't heard a single thing from Vodafone. I just want out of my contract, and to be with a provider who can give me reception and a phone that works! :(
3 Jun 2011 10:28:33 PM: Do not worry.....you will definitely get a response from Vodafail in 10 business days - if not go back to the TIO with your original reference number - Vodafail get 'fined'more $ for not responding.

It is in their (telcos) best interest ($) to get matters resolved as soon as possible.

5 Jun 2011 07:16:15 PM: Yeah, I can understand that; which is why I'm puzzled as to why Vodafone haven't contact me yet... Not even with a generic email to say they've heard from the TIO. But I just need to be patient. Am desperate to get out of my Vodafone contract and be with Optus :P Thanks for letting me know :) My fingers are crossed!
6 Jun 2011 08:08:47 AM: Vodafail, as a rule only, usually leave the complaint until day 9 or 10.
However some posters have reported a call the next day.........not totally sure what the criteria would be regarding the answering of TIO issues.

Yeah, my friend who approached the TIO about similar issues received a generic email the following day, and that's been the only contact she's received so far. Maybe the same rule applies to responding to TIO issued complaints! ;)

18269 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is a failure to the network at 3 Jun 2011 02:29:08 PM
Well i signed up to voadfone back in perth was told coverage was wonderful that was b.s.Since being on their network ive had nothing but trouble and dropped calls missed calls even in my own house here. They are trying to say its from the insulation in my roof.Well funny that because it was happening outside in the backyard too. Also sms messagesd that i sent werent getting to people till up to 24 hours later or not at all i rang them again about this the excuse was oh the network must have been busy. Also internet acces is useless as well constant drop outs and unable to access sometimes at all,3rd world countries have better internet access than vodafone does.Since being onto the ombudsman plenty of times i had the contract cancelled but im still recieving bills from these morons and well im just throwing them in the bin and when a debt collector turns up im going to tell him to shove off vodafone is the most useless network out there...Im sure to tell other people that you are better off with someone else other than vodafone dodo network is better and has better coverage but i go into rural areas somethiem and trust noone even though they are expensive ive gone back to telstra...Vodafone should be ashamed of their network and also their customer service people they take ages to answer the phone and cant even speak english properly useless vodafone shame on you ....basically legally scamming people out of their money....utterly disgusted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18238 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Beware of Telstra Boardband Mobile plan at 1 Jun 2011 05:38:28 PM
All,
I have a boardband wireless plan (actually a business plan), 3G data allowance per month, no up front, thought I had a good plan but I used it up in less than 12 days, any thing after that is calculated by Megabyte, like a few minutes would clog your heart pain of up to $50 or above. My last bill ends up $350. So I was shock. I could get TPG unlimited for $35 dollars.
So I didn't pay the Telstra bill, Telstra flings shxt on my face and suspend, then cancelled my service and requesting payment for the total 24 months fee of $880 dollars. I rang them Billing, rang them Credit Management, rang them Customer Service, try to get my service back by paying the overdue amount without paying the full 24 month plan. They say no way, no exception, I have to pay all 24 month now before I could get my service back. They say the service is qanranteed and is now threaten to report me to the credit agent.
1/ I want to know if any one of you have similar experience with Telstra?
2/ Is there anything I can do about it?
Also to warn potential future customers to be very careful of choosing your plan with Telstra and the fine prints.
Lossing hope , where is the star in Telstra?

18214 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrifying at 31 May 2011 02:02:30 PM
The complaints process is systemmically flawed -if you complain online a person will call you and try to connect you to a Customer Service person(eventually) -that person will claim that the online bonus dollar redemption service is fixed but they must be well aware it is not-I tried it while speaking to the person from Customer Service and verified that Vodafone either has no idea what is going on or is deliberately incorrect in status updates. This has been going on for weeks!!!
18204 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Network Signals at 31 May 2011 10:06:31 AM
I work in MASCOT, inner city suburbs between the citya and airport. About 4 to 6 times a day,I get a message from my Iphone that 'Network Selected NOT Available'. And on some occassion I would need to re boot my phone to be able to make a call. I guess this means I'm most likely not able to recieve a call either.
This started happening a fortnight ago and its really frustrating! I rang the customer service and ended up hanging up. Another crap service.
My contract expires at the end of 2011, Adios Vodafone and Ola Telstra or Optus for 2012

8 days of customer service merry go round to resolve a mobile broadband and phone reception issue. Repeatedly told "I have escalated your problem", have been promised phone calls from their "network services team" and when they rang..." Sorry the deparment I need assistance from is closed, if only you had notified us 15 minutes earlier...." , I suppose the 6 days of repeated notification priot did not count?
So today on day nine after allegedly being "escalated again", today I asked if GOD was know dealing with the problem. the Response..."I am sure our resolutions team will resolve the issue to your satisfaction" They have sooo many alleged teams, except for one that actually works to fix problems.... so Today the problem was filed with the TIO.

Apart from the continual 'no network' signal in my inner city area of Sydney (infrequent to no reception right in Darlinghurst Sydney if you can believe that ) continual dropouts and inability to use 3G along with late SMS messages, the piece that ticks me off is that Lara never seems to work efficiently and customer service, whilst continually repeating the company polished standard apology for every bloody thing yet not concerned one bit since earning rupees are all they are there for etc etc apart from all that I had my phone service barred THREE times in succession in one week on the back of SMS messages warning this simply because of an unusual spike in phone usage - due to two week overseas work trip where I had to use the phone. All owed monies are debited from my business account. It is a business phone and I have been with voda for 14 years yet as a CEO of a company I had to call and wait for customer care to refer the matter on to the technical dept for reconnection only to be disconnected again - three times around the merry go round I went. And does the Bangalore brigade really care? I think not since negotiating the complicated construct of Lara and getting to the right people makes me believe that every mental effort of the powers to be at VF is being suborned to device a customer call number guaranteeing a high attrition rate amongst callers out of pure frustration.
I really just want to know how I can get out of the current plan if at all possible because of poor service in every way.

18194 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Poor Reception 3G at 30 May 2011 06:42:55 PM
Having arrived from UK 12 months ago my partner and I set about obtaining a Mobile Phone Contract and both chose Vodafone. We both took up the 24 month iphone 3GS contract with 1GB data on a $79 cap plan + $10 insurance. Everything was relatively fine at our address in metro Adelaide. It was a weak 3G signal but a signal nonetheless. However a change of employment for us meant a house move to Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills, about 40-50km from Adelaide. I have now found I have only an extremely slow Edge signal for data and an intermittent phone signal.
Since moving home three days ago, I have had 7 calls drop out mid call. Other problems have been that I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. This is not a handset problem because if I drive back to Adelaide it's fine again. It's all very frustrating.
I spoke to Vodafone Customer Service who told me that the 3GS was not compatible in Mount Barker and that I would need to upgrade to an iPhone 4 at a cost of an extra $20 p/m + $384 final payment at the end of the contract for the cost of the new phone. Something to do with frequency on the 3GS.
I enquired about cancellation fees and they pretty much came back with a figure similar to what was remaining on my contract so I would have to be extremely foolish to pay that.
So seemingly I am now stuck with a contract with 1GB data I cannot access, and a 2G phone signal with intermittent call drop outs, at a total cost of $79 p/m until April 2012.
I have checked with the other networks like Optus and Telstra and they can guarantee a 3G signal.
I really wished I hadn't signed up to Vodafone, what seemed like a saving at the time, a $79 cap was very enticing, has now turned into a costly error.
I checked the Vodafone planned upgrades of the network and Mount Barker is not listed.
NOT HAPPY!!

18163 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Vodapennytel fail at 27 May 2011 06:58:04 PM
Please put Pennytel ('PT') on the no go alternatives.
I am posting here due to the lack of communication received from Pennytel (a carrier that now uses the Vodafone network) to let off some steam.
Story is this: Optus recently dumped Pennytel as their official carrier, Pennytel has now requested its users to switch to their new Vodafone plans. They promised delivery of the replacement sims on 2 May. They promised, "2 working days".
This concerns the late delivery of my replacement Pennytel simcard and Pennytel's poor communication and service. This has to be the worst combination. Penntel (incompetence) combined with Vodafone (uber incompetence).
I am very upset with PT's tardy service. My phone has been disconnected since 13th May. Probably due to the port to Vodaphone initiated by PT. I was advised on 2 May that replacement Pennysims would be shipped within 2 working days. It is now 27th May. That is 25 days. Still no sign of a pennysim in the mail. Methods to contact me on the phone were gone for days since 13th May. The only remedy was to purchase an emergency simcard.
This is a pain, as it isn't my usual number. This problem is exacerbated by having a very ill grandparent who has me on call.
One thing that upsets me further is me having contacted Pennytel almost a dozen times between 2-20 May. Every single e-mail I sent was received and I got the auto reply:
"24-48 hours and we'll contact you" along those lines.
This didn't happen. Only until 4 days ago have I received reponse.
Almost 21 days later from 2 May, I receive an e-mail: "Case priority: Low. Please send us your address to confirm shipping".
So I did. But why do I need to confirm my address? I've ordered products and sim cards in the past. They shipped to the shipping address as specified in my profile. Also, if they needed me to confirm my address, why didn't they send this e-mail ages ago?
In addition, they setup this system on their website to streamline the switching to Vodafone plans. You simply log into your account and click on the voda plan you wanted to go into. The claim, "We'll do the rest". So this e-mail 20 days later to ask me to confirm my address? Utter bull shit.
I have never been so upset with the customer service of a company before.
In addition, since the beginning of receiving the Optus cancellation announcement to the Vodafone switch (Was known since Mid-April)I have sent various e-mails with simple inquiries concerning the new plans and so forth. I just wanted clarification on what I was getting into. Is that too much for a customer to ask questions on things he isn't 100% on? Well, objectively I think that's quite fair. Well, Pennytel hasn't responded to any of those either.
Really, I just want my micro-sim delivered so I can get on with daily business. I have ill relatives that need to contact me in emergencies. I have customers that need to contact me. The fact that I have had to go out of my way to purchase an emergency sim is already too much.
Overall, the lack of communication, the loss of business and the overall frustration and suffering I have endured has led me to elevate this to the TIO and ACCC.
I hope that Pennytel can quickly resolve this so I can just get on with normal life.
Pain in the ass.

it appears that voadafone bonus dollars redemption-vodafones loyalty scheme, has not been working for it appears -over two months,i have been trying for 2 weeks and after the usual customer service run around was told try again in 48 hours.Of course it does not work then either. This is important from a balance sheet persective as in effect redemption converts a contingent liabilty to an expense so it is something that is concerning ,and also annoying for a consumer.
22 Jun 2011 07:16:25 PM: I tried tonight to redeem my bonus bank dollars and the website wasn't working properly. I think you can increase that to 3 months now...

We purchased a phone for our son for Christmas 2010. We were able to recharge once. After that every attempt failed. Both on the internet and via customer service. No-one can work out why. We are so sick of listening to the voice activated software, that eventually tells us the department we require is closed. Basically we want the phone unlocked so our son can use his phone via a decent provider. We purchased this phone for safety purposes, not very safe if he cannot use it. On another matter, my mobile was with three mobile (now vodaphone) and is now basically useless unless within 30 km of the GPO. I have tried calling them and every time they have hung up on me. I cannot say politely what I actually think of the Vodaphone service.
Back to our son, who is in Year 7, he just wants a phone that works so he can text his mum and dad and check his favourite sport results via the internet.
Please help us, my brain will explode if I have to listen to the voice activated software or inane attempts to resolve the problem.
Thanks

25 May 2011 10:31:52 PM: 2 things: make a complaint here: http://www.tio.com.au/ComplaintForm/ComplaintFormS1.asp
that takes 10 minutes and they will let you out without fees etc - just complain hard enough and explain yourself.
Secondly, I'd by a cheap mobile outright (you can get a cheap nokia for $80, then an Amaysim sim card. It's got cheap rates without any chance of billshock.
I don't have Amaysim, I have TPG $50 plan which gives you $1000 worth of calls/text, but you can go over the cap which means risk of billshock.
Goodluck!

After 15 years with vodafone, they have failed me. It's like a sour marriage now.
Finally got out of my contract, without any EXIT FEES! (had 14 out of 24months to go)as they can no longer provide a phone and network that actually works.
Week in week out, the same petty excuses, 'we will replace the phone, upgrade you to a better plan, give you free credits' etc, etc (just like a cheating partner), couldn't take it any longer, I had to leave them.
Poor service in Mackay, calls drop out, you know all the usual stuff.
VODAFAIL WILL NOT IMPROVE THEIR SERVICE IN THE BIG CITIES, what hope do we all have in regional areas?? None. Time to go to another provider. Thanks

18095 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Been 4 days and phone still not active at 23 May 2011 09:17:54 AM
Hi, Im originally a 3 mobile customer who after a year of bad network coverage and roaming charges in Sydney CBD I decided to cancel my contract with 3. When I spoke to the customer care team they convinced me to switch to vodaphone where I will get a better service and better coverage. All I have to do is await a new sim card and call vodaphone to activate it. Few days later I received vodaphone sim and I called them after pressing to many buttons to get to a real person who advised me it will take 24 hours, next day phone doesnt work, called back and they say another few hours, still phone doesnt work. called again the 3rd day and was told 24 hours. How could this people lie to customers and arent this conversations recorded. Its been 4 days since then and my phone still has no service, my family and friends can not contact me and everytime I voice my anger with vodaphone customer service they suck me in with compensation like 1 month free service. Now im on 3 month free service as compensation but whats the point as I still can not use my phone and not even a customer of vodaphone as yet. I have tried to cancel my contract with them and they are not listening to me and kept trying to suck me in. Im really frustrated and angry right now and wonder if there is an ombudsman who can help me with it.
23 May 2011 10:03:31 AM: Yes there is an ombudsman that can help, details found at the top of the page on the How To Complain tab.
Takes about 10 minutes to complete their on line form, Vodafail then have 10 working days to come to a mutually agreed resolution.
Good Luck.

Another thing that really irritates me about dialing the Vodafone 0800 number is the initiation one must go through just to speak to an operator. If I only have a simple question and just want a simple answer that could be asked by anyone, why do I have to give so much information? It's just a question, it doesn't pose a national security risk, no-one will steal my details or any other information, I just want to know something simple!!!
Why can't Vodafail set up a simple help number with a real human being on the phone at the other end to answer such simple quesitons?????

18049 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Not my voice message!!! at 19 May 2011 09:21:23 PM
I'm in a bit of a pickle. When you dial my mobile number, my mobile rings... no sweat... problem is, if I miss the call, it goes through to someone else's voicemail message. To top it off, my mobile does not notify me that I have a message to retrieve. I dial 121 and apparently, there are no new messages! I know there are as I have left messages myself. I contacted customer service and as you would expect, it is as simple as turn off, turn back on. NO IT IS NOT!!! Even after removing the battery and rebooting, this problem still exists. I am told to contact customer service again between 8am and 8pm tomorrow as no-one can help me now. What happened? Where are my messages going? Will I receive the other lady's messages?
19 May 2011 11:39:39 PM: A similar thing happened to me when I was with Vodafone. When someone rang me my phone wouldn't ring and it went to voicemail but I never received a message. Vodafone didn't know what was wrong or how to fix it. If they still can't fix it then go to the TIO if Vodafone doesn't let you out of your contract. Then you can switch to another provider.

20 May 2011 11:57:00 AM: This is a problem. You should not need to go to the TIO every time something bad happens. You are abusing a system meant for legitimate high level escalations like medical/life threatening/100% Vodafone's fault. I am pretty sure they won't say no to a replacement handset or an alternative. It sounds like it would be the phone to me. You were probably told to contact the operations centre later due to skeleton staff at late nights (anytime after 8pm depending on locations) The Vodafail moderation team SHOULD NOT be releasing TIO contact detail nor promoting it the way they do.
20 May 2011 12:52:27 PM: Umm.... 11:57:00 AM if voda doesn't let you out of your contract and won't solve your problem then you go to the TIO. It says clearly on their website.

19 May 2011 02:56:03 PM: Please lodge this complaint with the TIO! They have surprisingly low complaint rates because people who've been put through all sorts of vodacrap suffer "complaint fatigue" and decide not to go and recooperate your loss.
Why don't you make the complaint in the name of principle, and donate whatever you recoop to your charity. This way you are at least formally informing regulators so that they can take action. Nigel Dews is able to talk down the misery he's put customers through because people like you (and me, initially) don't voice our concerns.

reading all the posts here and you are all in the same boat as me. I have all the symptoms you describe. It concerns me that you ring up to cancel and they wont let you. I told them my reception was now almost non existed and had deteriorated in last few months and they ended my contract without cost to me. I cant see why you all cant do the same. Speaking to staff at a store, they told me to stress to the customer service people on 1555 that the coverage HAS GOT WORSE IN LAST FEW MONTHS.
I am now back on testra after a 10 year hiatus and can i say not only is it cheaper (something i thought id never see) than anyone else, it is also fantastic coverage.

Am in Kolkata India. Enabled and paid credit on my prepaid account for roaming here. Nothing is working cannot receive or make calls. Extesive time and a lot of skype credit on to call them. They acknowledge that roaming is enabled and credit is there, they acknowledge they have a Vodafone partner here, they acknowledge there is nothing wrong with the headset and have done extensive trouble shooting on the phone to try and solve the problem. Even they have been reduced to suggesting I get a local Indian phoned or see if vodafone India can help. I do not think that is my job as vodafone OZ took my money (which I put on the prepaid account) to finance the roaming which I cannot use. The customer service people were attentive but it is not enough to be told the situation cannot be fixed by them since they set up the roaming and took the credit on the account for it.
18004 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Don't deserve to be in business at 17 May 2011 11:48:11 AM
My 3 mobile broadband worked fine for 18 month. Then suddenly in Feb 2011 when I tried to connect, I received the message 'NO NETWORK'. This occurred over a few days so I called Customer (don't) Care. A number of hours and calls later, 3 advised no problem with their service in my area, but couldn't (wouldn't??) explain why after 2 years I suddenly had no network. Their solution? Move to Vodafone, which I did with great trepidation.
For 2 months I was very happy with Vodafone. Then, at the beginning of May 2011 my service became unuseable. Good signal, but unable to load internet pages. Lucky if I could get on for a couple of minutes at a time. Didn't matter what time of day or night I tried - always the same. Modem constantly switching between 3G and HSUPA etc even if selected to use 3G only. Placed calls, and no one called back when they said they would.
I kept a record of all of this and sent if off to Vodafone requesting that they cancel my contract without penalty as I was upholding my end ( paying bills on time, reporting faults via due process) while they were not (unusable service, poor customer service). Failing this I was going to lodge a formal complaint with TIO. Vodafone kindly agreed to release me from my contract (in an act of good will) even though there was "no problem at their end".
Don't these people even look at their own Community page and other Internet forums to see that others in other areas are reporting the same problems? Pre Internet we did not have access to this broad range of information. Vodafone do not deserve to be in business. They didn't listen to customers then and they are still not listening now. So many customers cannot be wrong / at fault.
If you want out of your contract due to poor service and not getting what you paid for, keep a record of your problems and help desk calls. Send the details to Vodafone (they also have a 'contact us' link) and request termination without penalty, else you'll go to TIO. Keep emotion out of your communications with them and stick to the facts. You can get out if you have truly been badly done by.

my wife recharged succesfully on the 8/5/2011,she placed $30.00 in her balance as she recieved a msg to recharge before the 10/5/2011. Once she did this she had confirmation that she recharged with $30.00 as the phone msg advised her recharge was successful. less than a week later she goes to call me only to have a voice tell her she has insuficiant funds. she has 56 cents in credit which mind you she had before recharge but has been msging ppl till she went to call me.my wife rang pre paid customer support only to be told unless youve still got the voucher we cant help you, who keeps there voucher after confirmation they have successfully recharged. They told my wife is she can find it in the rubbish bin though the rubbish bin was emptied last week.So there quick to say to her even though you rang recharge number how do we no you recharged, so there calling her a liar to, mind you this is call center in india or wherever they are. Yet they couldnt exsplain how she was able to msg ppl over past 3 days on 56cents but were going to investigate cause they were losing money, but yet they buggered up my wifes credit but are not willing to investigate to where or how its gone missing, only exsplanation they can give is that my wife is lying.Il fight this and will join action on vadafail as when i had broadband contract they were shocking as to is my phone service with them as just me alone vodafail have cost me over $1200.00 in calls due to drop outs and very poor service let alone no covrage, wheres there upgrades they claim to have made. Haven't seen anything simular on the net yet.. YOU MIGHT FIND IT INTERESTING>>>OR EVEN COME ACROSS THE SAME GUY.....
I am having the same issue with Vodafail as anyone else. No coverage, constant calls to Customer Service etc.
Listen to this...
I was on $130 Business Unlimited Cap.
Due to low coverage at my add. they reduced it to $99
It even got worse, so they reduced it to $79 unlimited 2 GB Plan.
2 Weeks ago received an SMS from Vodafail, saying due to " July 2011 network upgrade" they applied 50% waiver on my plan for 3 month.
So I will be paying something like $40 for unlimted plan. (2GB is sufficient)
IT GETS EVEN BETTER.....
Last friday 13th May 2011 received a call from a BLOCKED number...
It was VODAFONE... The lovely gentleman introduced himself as VODAFONE STAFF and told me he has got a great offer for me....
I was curious and I went with the conversation - as I know already the deal I am on is due to the lack of coverage, frustration, endless calls to and from customer relation team - so I was wondering how come they can't see that on my account....
Anyway...He asked me for the PIN etc. etc.
He told me ... He can see that I am a HIGH SPENDER and he would like to reduce my plan.
So I asked him oh ok, how much am I spening at the moment.. He told me around $130 per month ... ( not sure where he got that figure from)
He then said yes for this particular mobile number THAT is the average you are spending..
NOW when he said what the mobile number was - I started to be very suspicious.. HE was looking at my Vodafone PREPAID NUMBER that does NOT EXCIST since 6 years... :-)
I asked him to check the coverage at my address, (Vodafone already knows about my area that there is no or poor coverage)
It took this gentleman over the phone not even 2 seconds to check the network coverage...and said, yeas you have exceptional coverage...
THIS IS ANOTHER HIT>>> He then asked me what time is the best to come and visit me at my HOME to talk about signing up for a plan... He would send someone to come and visit me...WHAAAAT???!!!
I asked him wow is that something new....? There was no answer to that, he persisted for me to give him exact time and day that I am available....
Asked him where he is located, as I would like to visit him and he said MELBOURNE CITY Call Center... I said, I am not sure that there is a vodafone call center...And his answer was ..........( a suburb approx. 8km away from the CITY) so not IN MELBOURNE CITY>.....
The ALARMS in my head went off, and I asked to speak to a Supervisor.
Spoke to him immediately, and confirmed that they are not a VODAFONE Call Centre, they r just a shop... VODAFONE DEALER ( selling phones and other stuff) .... He kind of was putting it back on my and said...well you have given us the PIN number so we can look into your account....
Well, I did yes, only under the understanding that he was calling from VODAFONE Call Centre.... and not from a dealer shop somewhere in the suburbs.....
He of course appologized, and said sorry about that etc. etc. etc.
Thought I might give you a heads up on my experience... A new thing vodafone is doing? I am also taking this further with vodafone, as I am concerned about my privacy - as those people introduce themselves as vodafone call centre staff where they r not.

I'm based on the gold coast and a caller gave me the same intro but highlighted the fact that he was "not trying to sell me anything". As soon as he said that, alarm bells went off and I became cold towards him. When he felt that I was onto him he toned down and asked if I was happy with my infinite 45 plan, I said yes, he asked if I was looking at getting any additional phones, I said no. Then he ended the conversation. It sounds like dealers are fishing around using the vodafone database of customers. MAJOR PRIVACY ISSUES - ALL CUSTOMER MUST BEWARE!

I spent two days trying to get through to Vodafone to order a new phone and sign up for the $45 plan(I was on the $65 plan) after they sent me a txt stating I would get 3 months free if I upgraded phone now. I thought why not, I needed a new phone and wasn't getting the value from the old plan so thought I would save a few dollars.
2 months later I am being charged more than what I originally was paying and no 3 free months. The customer service at the other end was no help at all and wanted to try and charge me $20 to change my plan. I'm currently waiting for a manager to get back to me but think this is going to end up with me having to complain to some higher authority. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

20 May 2011 01:21:52 PM: Again DO NOT advise this. Why are you giving these details out when it is not designed nor available in this situation. This must be a legit high level escalation THIS IS NOT. It is not life threatening/on going abuse from staff/advising completely wrong course of action etc this is a problem that can be solved by a manager within Vodafone. Easy-----> Go back to the call centre and just ask for a manager nicely.

Why can't the Vodafail mod team advise this? Is it because you say so? Are you a higher authority? When does something become legit and high level? Is it when you say so?
The OP received some good advise and one that he/she should follow.

For yet another time and time again Vodafone has failed to deliver sms sent from my g/f from her Vodafone mobile. Multiple times! When she finally calls me and is very annoyed that I haven't replied and blames me all the time about messages that were never delivered to me. Vodafone, this is blatantly unnaceptable! The worst part is that you charge for these sms that never make it to me. I feel like throwing my useless phone against a wall. If this was any other business you would be sued and out of business in a heart beat. FALSE advertising and an absolute JOKE of a network, if you can even call it that.
And a word for your "customer service" people. Speaking to a computer... DOES NOT WORK and when you finally get to talk to a human that can't help, then what is the point? A total waste of time.

I am facing lot of issues for the past 5 months with my vodafone service for number (CONTACT DETAILS REMOVED) . I have lost lot of Emergency calls. Vodafone has changed my apple iphone also , still lot of issues , PROBLEM WITH VODAFONE SERVICE . IT IS HORRIBLE AND not TOLERABLE WITH VODAFONE . COULD SOMEONE CALL ME ASAP , SO THAT the following ISSUES CAN BE RESOLVED
1)i am missing 90% of the calls
2) People say when they call my number , Incoming call directly go to voice mail , but i dont have any voice mail OF THE CALL MISSED or ANY sign of they have callled me
3) Lot of times calls get dropped
4) Safari browser could not be accessed , saying that could not fetch cellular data
5) Could not call sometimes , it says NO SERVICE for minimum 30 minutes , this happens frequently
6) I MISSED LOT OF EMERGENCY CALLS RELATED TO BUSINESS .BIG LOSS FOR ME
7) MOST OF THEM PEOPLE SAY ,MY MOBILE IS SWITCHED OFF ,BUT MY MOBILE IS ON POSITION
I would request vodafone to SOLVE THE ISSUES ASAP . DUE TO POOR PERFORMANCE ,THIS NEEDS TO ADDRESS ASAP.
APART FROM ALL THIS,IT TAKES AGES TO TALK WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE TRIED LOT OF TIMES FOR 30 MINUTES MINIMUM, AND DISCONNECTED THE LINE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE COULD NOT BE REACHED
UNHAPPY WITH VODAFONE .

16 May 2011 02:24:25 PM: Hi, we've removed your contact number for security reasons. If you have tried complaining to vodafone and aren't getting anywhere then it's time for the TIO. Check out the 'how to complain' page and submit a request to the TIO. Then vodafone is more likely to give you a call. Goodluck!

17970 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 15 May 2011 03:46:35 PM
Vodafone customer service at my local store is horrendous. My phone (purchased out right from that store) was recently sent to Nokia for repair 3 times whilst under warranty. Finally it was concluded that I should receive a new replacement phone. They told me to come into the store to receive the replacement phone. When I went in, they told me I couldn't receive a new phone because I didn't have the phone sent for repair. However they took it off me a week before. They refused to give me a replacement phone until they had the old one back from wherever it was sent to. Finally I asked for my money back and they said no, that Vodafone does not refund and then after persistence from me, they said they only refund within one month of purchase. After a very stressful argument and still no phone and no refund, they said they would replace my phone. The time wasted and poor attitude to customer service was hard to endure

call drop outs, delayed sms, cannot send mms. Cannot load safari searches or use the internet to you tube or play words with friends! Can't sign into my netbank to transfer money when I need it...the list goes on! Called twice about the problem and was advised that network problems will not be fixed until July - therefore implying that I had to put up with it for another 2 months or so. Told me to give them addresses and postcodes of every area that I visit so they can tell me if I can use my phone there or not - Why would I NEED a 'MOBILE' phone that can only be used in selected areas~! Plus I DO NOT KNOW where I'll be going for every day of my future life!
Every single time I'm transferred from one part of India to another they ask me the same questions I told the first - Your name, phone number and PIN. Why on earth do they bother asking you to enter it into the phone in the first place?! Cause the first person to pick up the phone STILL ASKS!
No customer service what so ever. Biggest waste of time!

I have now contacted Vodafone twice. The first time I was promptly told that my issue was resolved, which it most certainly was NOT.
I then send another complaint through and was told that I would receive a response within two days. It has been almost a week and I've heard nothing from them. Since starting my cap with them I've experienced drop-outs and unset SMS's. The apparent 3G I'm supposed to have access to is a joke. I own an Amazon Kindle and the free (yes. You read that right. FREE) 3G it provides is at LEAST 70% faster (the only drawback is that it's in black and white, but I can live with that).
I've not paid a bill in two months. I have absolutely no intention of sending these clowns a single cent of my hard-earned money to support their lies and horrible customer service. I am currently in the middle of drafting a letter to the TIO, including the two complaints I send through before today. I will not tolerate their horrendous service any longer. My money will be going to Telstra from now on.

Took out 24 Month Vodafail $79 cap with Nokia N97 in April 2010. Two mistakes in one. Have made numerous calls to both Voadfail and Nokia and neither would accept any liability for phone issues such as lack of service, call drop outs, message failures, MMS and Internet faults, mobile phone shut down for no apparent reason, maps not working, just to mention a few.
Vodafail transferred me to various locations throughout the world and it was nigh on impossible to understand the person on the other end of the phone, to get them to comprehend the issues I was and still are having. During the height of the service disruptions they advised that it was a Nokia problem.
Nokia on the other hand continued to blame Vodafail with neither taking any responsibility for the lack of service or making any offer to rectify the faulty mobile. In the meantime I have managed to download all up to date software for the N97 and even this morning the phone locked up and had to be rebooted to make it operable.
I work in a customer service industry and find it amazing that Vodafail has the audacity to send everything offshore with no localised area to sort out issues that have given it such a bad name with customers and within the industry itself.
I cannot wait for my contract to end. NO MORE VODAFAIL and NOKIA will no longer be my preferred handset supplier.
If I had the direct phone number for the relative General Managers for Vodafail and Nokia then I would gladly contact them to arrange a face to face meeting with the offending mobile telephone and have them use it in the condition it is and the service they supply.

12 May 2011 11:28:13 PM: Seems strange, usually Vodafone would suggest that you have the phone fixed under warranty or have your sim card swapped to isolate the issue. Even if it was blamed on Nokia, these options would still be given to rectify it.
As for phone switching off and maps not working, that would be a Nokia issue without a doubt. Carrier issues are more along the lines of call drops and coverage faults.

13 May 2011 11:20:40 PM: Nokia N97 is the worst phone ever. I think Nokia knows that.fucking Nokia. I had an N97 Mini and vodafone fixed it under warranty, working great for 3 months then screen started to lock up and would reboot, then vodafone actually replaced the handset under warranty (elecrical failure of some sort they said and couldnt repair)... that one worked for a bit then started having software probs. I have now given it to my son and got myself a blackberry. Ive ALWAYS had nokias and since that NEVER AGAIN....i think their basic phones r good..like the E71 (my wife has NO probs) but anything smarter,...nokia r just not smart enough!!!

I switched from telstra to vodafone, bad mistake!
everytime i make an international call there is a 3 second delay on the line. I have no problems receiving calls from international numbers. I have contacted vodafone on several occassions for which they have told me there is no delay, never has been, never had a complaint about this at all. They have told me it is my phone so we change some settings on my phone...i make an international call and nothing changes. truth is they use cheap lines (or whatever they are) to call overseas so you get the delay. They still manage to charge huge rates for this...better off with telstra.
i found their customer service EXTREMELY rude and patronising. I tried emailing them as i was on hold for too long as well, they replied by saying that my case was closed and to stop contacting them!!!!!
great
i never thought I would say telstra was good, but after being with vodafone i will gladly go back to telstra!

Complained to local store, was told Vodafone working on tower for last 6 weeks (sure, give me a break), said have had problem since signing with Vodafone months ago. The supposedly "free" Vodafone "helpline" has NEVER worked. Have to pay for all calls to Vodafone. Not Satisfactory. False advertising. Was again told by local Vodafone store that I can go on the complaints list (I said I had complained on this list months ago). Shocking network, extremely poor customer service, I want out. 2. Poor reception- inability to continue or make calls in my location- constant dropouts

4. Rubbish broadband on wireless modem.
5. No follow up for plan-holders with offers on replacement handsets- they do wear out!- what happened?

Got an iphone from vodafail on upgrade from existing plan, thought my old phone was faulty. Turns out it was vodafail and their so called network. Brought in the TIO and got released from my contract by vodafail, or so I thought. They received the iphone handset on 3rd of March. Sent them an email from myvodafone and got prorata bill for the time I had the handset which I thought was somewhat fair but never got a reply. Then just recently got a new bill for a new month with an overdue amount, lost my rag and rang them. Asked them if they had received the phone which I knew they had coz I had Auspost tracking number. They confirmed it and said i would be disconnected in 3 to 5 working days. Also asked why they didnt disconnect as I didnt have the phone but they did, did they think I liked having no handset but an active service? They said they werent sure if I wanted to be disconnected even though I photocopied the letter they sent me and included with the handset when I returned it. That was 2 weeks ago. Rang my old number yesterday and yep, there is my voice on the voicemail. This company sets new low standards for customer service. Back in the hands of the TIO again *sigh*. So very glad I never gave them bank details to take my money at their convenience.

My Iphone gone faulty on Sunday morning, couldn't hear anything from the headset.
Called the customer service, under 28 days warranty I could go back to the store and swap with new one.
Not knowing that the store that I purchased from is 'dealer' store which unable to swap the phone on the same day (required 2-3 days to check and swap the phone), then I called the customer service back, and he advised to go to the Top Ryde retail store instead and he also mentioned that he will put notes on my account explaining the issue.
When I arrived in the Top Ryde retail store, met with 'not so enthusiast' rep, I told them about the iphone issue, without even hade my iphone checked he barely refused to do the swap as I did not purchase the phone in his store. I asked him nicely to check the note in my account, and I even had to make another phonecall to customer service and again explain the situation. I even asked the customer service to talk to the store rep which did not seem interested helping out 'vodafail' customer.
Then the customer service told me that he had put 'authorised note by the manager' to do the swap, but the 'retail' store still refused with reason that that did not comply with the store's policy (How come they have dual conflicting policy in the Vodafail?). Wondering what the point the customer service putting that 'authorised note' in the system if the store didn't even comply with it??? ... really that Top Ryde Vodafail store sucks big time!
Spent 2.5 hours running back forth between 2 stores and on the phone with 4 differents cust services, I gone home empty handed still with the faulty iphone.
At home again I contacted the customer service, told him everything happpened that day, about rejection and poor customer service on Top Ryde store. He promised me to escalate the problem and get his manager to call me back the next day.
Next day I got the manager called me, he told me that he was going to call the Top Ryde store to let me swap the phone. Wait for 5 mins he said okay to do the swap on that store, but I had to do it today.
I told him that was impossible where I just finished work at 6, as would the store. He tried to convince me if I didnt get there today that 29 days warranty would be void which dont make any sense as I was still under the warranty until the next week, and even more I had tried to swap the phone the day before, so I told him back that your threat was irrelevant and weak.
AT the end he said ok for me to go to the store until the end of this week.
It's been just too much bullsh1t with Vodafail!
ps: TIO will contact you soon :)

5 May 2011 08:45:50 PM: This is a legitamate good story that actually makes sense. You did eveything that was asked and were given false promises it seems. I hope things do work out for you mate as this is a painful experience to go through especially dealing with loads of people. A good tip is to try and speak with one person if possible and if the first time it fails ask to speak with managment earlier but hey you defaintely got treated badly here.
5 May 2011 10:12:45 PM: As promised on 1/5/11, someone called me from Vodafone. He asked me about the store details and rang the store. After being held for 15mins, he got back to me and said that the store now has agreed to swap the phone, he asked me to come back to the store today (store closed at 6pm). I told him that didnt make any sense, as I finished work at 6, but I told him that I'd come on Thursday (store closed at 9pm and he said okay.
I also had press him to make sure I wouldnt face any more refusal from the store to swap the phone, and he'd agreed with that.
Today 5/05/11, I come back to the store and met the manager, and still have the same refusal, they refuse to swap the phone with the same awesome reason. I told him I wouldn't come back to the store to be refused if the customer care didnt say that I could come back.
And this is the best part, ... I asked him to call the customer care to put his argument with them, and after 2 mins waiting on the phone he told me "it's gonna be 20 mins mate" ( ha ha ha, now you know how awful waiting to speak to your own customer care).
They had their own argument, but again as the store is the side who can decide, they decide not to swap the phone....
I have no other choice, .. TIO will receive my 2nd complaint....

Recently bought vodafone pocket wifi and sim from Date Communications at Richmond Marketplace. The owner gave me a micro-SIM which I found later does NOT work in the pocket wifi. I returned to the shop the following day, and was told they do not have the particular SIM card in stock. I demanded a refund and the girl at the counter efused to refund me. What can I do? Not only did the owner lie regarding the workability of this wifi but also stole my money. Not happy Jan!!
1 May 2011 07:24:09 PM: Hi the pocket wifi is a great product and i have purchased mine from the same place and had no problem. I got the store owner to get it working for me she was really helpful. Why dont you goback to the store and get them to help you install it, instead off making claims that they took your money. I have purchase a few prepaid things from that store and they ALWAYS as me if i want them to connect it for me and i have always told them to and never had a problem. i will advise you that the first sim card i got was not working well but the store manager fixed it for me. Go back and talk to the person that sold it to you and dont make claims before you get it checked out. Somebody in Windsor.

And if I the problem persists ring back in 24 hours so they escalate my complaint. I give up! Its all too exhausting. Is that their intention?

I paid out my contract due to being in what theyat Vodafone would claim to be an excellent coverage area, and had to constantly go outside to maintain coverage, my internet is at best poor, with repeated drop=outs (4th in an hour as I type here) Very poor customer service to attempt a reconciliation with, and on multiple occaisions having to return my own calls, on the worst it was 6 weeks!! VODAFAIL ABSOLUTE!!
17585 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete failure at 30 Apr 2011 04:54:29 PM
the vodafone store at pitt and park street has the rudest and most uninterested customer service staff of any vodafone store i've been to. i wanted to buy the iphone4 on the infinite45 plan over 24 months and i was surprised at what little knowledge the girl at the store had and her attitude showed she wasn't interested in making a sale. i felt i was an interuption to her leisure time at work. i thought about making the purchase online instead but have now decided to look elsewhere to other providers.
1 May 2011 02:10:44 AM: I went to this store recently and yes the shop assistants there really don't give a toss about serving customers. They prefer to talk among themselves or fool around on their Facebook. I tried to renew my mobile contract and upgrade to a more expensive plan (yes, give them more money than I do now). The shop assistant told me I had to do it on the phone and that it wasn't her job. Anyone who has tried to do anything with Vodafone over the phone will know you have to wait on hold forever. When I asked why I couldn't get it done there she simply walked away and ignored me. I was in no way rude or anything, I merely wanted to continue being a Vodafone mobile customer and I could not believe I was being turned away. I think my days of being a loyal Vodafone customer are about to end.
1 May 2011 03:44:57 PM: I know this store too. I went in for a business plan for 5 phones on unlimited plans (alot of money i know) and was told to come back later.... there were 3 shop assistants and NO customers in the store.... Do they not work on commission?
3 May 2011 09:28:20 PM: They can't possibly work on commission at this store. I went there last Saturday to buy a mobile phone on a plan but the young Asian female shop assistant told me to order it over the phone yet she couldn't be bothered providing me with the phone number. I left and went to the Telstra shop instead.
4 May 2011 11:44:14 PM: Sounds like the girl who served me when I tried to get a mobile broadband pocket wifi that I saw advertised in the paper. She told me to go online to order it which might have been OK if I had an internet connection in the first place. The whole reason for me wanting to make the purchase was so that I could have internet access. She didn't seem to understand nor did she care.

Vodafone has the worst customer service I have ever come accross. if you go into a store it takes forever to get served and half the time they cant help you anyway. Many, many times I rang vodafone for assistance only to be put on hold for ages at a time or transfered endlessly from one person to another, each time having to explain my problem and then be told "I cant help you, I'll just put you through to some one else." Another issue with vodafone's customer service is that 'Lara' freak you have to talk to at the start - what happened to having a real person?? Why would anyone want to speak to a machine??
I could go on forever about vodafone's terrible customer service, but it just makes me angry thinking about it. For the rest of my life I will never, ever use vodafone again - they are completely useless and a joke of a business

I am on $19 plan with 3 mobile.I have upgraded my mobile to HTC Legend on 29/03/2011 and extended the contract for another 2 years by paying extra 5 dollars per month for the handset, There are several issues with the mobile i have received, i have contacted 3 mobile but they have not done anything to resolve the issues.
1)First of all, it is not connecting to Wifi. It says connecting...disconnected continuously. It never connected to Wifi. The main reason for me to purchase a smart phone is to use the mobile for internet but it is never connected to wifi.
2)My plan has News & Info package but it was not pre-installed in my mobile.
3)Signal strength is so poor i am not able to use 3G connection, it is always on roaming even though other mobiles have good 3G connection.
4)Battery performance is so poor it finishes the battery within 1 hour, three.com.au website claims the battery stands for 440 minutes.
5)It does not have Planet 3 pre-installed
6)Dynalink RTA1046VW modem which i use to connect for my laptops through another provider suddenly disconnects when i swith on the HTC Legend mobile wifi connection
MEMBER'S RESPONSE:
I have called 3 mobile customer service, they have transferred me to 3 different departments but not solved the problem.
I have called them again, again changed 3 departments. I went to 3 store then i called them again, then i have reproduced the problem infront store staff, customer service service spoke to store representative, but till date problem was not resolved. I have complained to TIO, they have sent unresolved email, they are also useless.

I had to cancel Vodafone due to their apaling coverage. I use my phone for work and was told to get rid of them. In the process ive now received a bill from them of $1000 for cancelling a contract????? I did not have a handset subsidy and did not sign a contract. I was also a vodafone customer for over 5 years. The response I received was too bad you have to pay it!!!!! Customer service basically said there was no way around it - anyone?
27 Apr 2011 09:11:01 PM: call the TIO
27 Apr 2011 10:32:10 PM: If you didn't sign a contract there wouldn't be a cancellation fee. Are you sure you weren't in a contract? A bill of $1000 usually means you've cancelled around 4 months into a 24 month contract.

I have only been with Vodaphone for 3-4 weeks. I cannot use my mobile (Iphone 4) at my desk at work or make or receive calls at my home. I was previously with 3 and was encouraged by Mobicom to change to Vodaphone and take advantage of the upgrade in phones - 10 in all. We are experiencing no service in 4 of our major work areas, where we did have service previously. The dropped calls is the worst and the delay in texts is atrocious. I have experienced good customer service but no solution to the problem has been offered. I am extremely disgruntled with the level of coverage and Vodaphone has not provided the level of service that I signed up for. 2 out of 10 vodaphone

27 Apr 2011 09:55:55 AM: write to vodafone informing them you will not be paying any further bills they send you, and that you are writing a complaint to the TIO. Then draft up a formal complaint to the TIO. Port your number across to Telstra (or Optus), you don't have to pay for poor service.
How would you react if you ordered a ham and cheese family sized pizza from your local pizzeria, say $19.90 - order complete, guy flops pizza carton onto table, you open lid and see no cheese. Are you going to pay the $19.90 they demand? I certainly wouldn't. I'd tell them to go and whack some cheese on it, or piss off I'm out of here, yet Aussies continue to put up with crap service and when the bills come in they just pay them, albeit with some whingeing and raving and complaining. Stop whinging and TAKE ACTION - actions speak louder than words. Remember big brass of major companies laugh behind closed doors, they will do whatever they can reasonably get away with. For as long as they have cashflow they're happy. So actions to rectify their problems are slow. I know of several owners of Vodafone dealers who are fed up with the company, as it's impacting their dealership's growth, they still have the ongoing revenue from their existing clients usage, but you need growth over the long term of your dealership, as contracts expire, some customers get enticed by other carrier offers, especially nowadays its so easy and convenient to port your number between carriers.

Oh, and other points:
- multiple times I've had to call the customer service line and waited at least 30mins each time. One time I waited 45mins, then an Indian woman answered and the line dropped. Furious does not come close to how I felt...
- I copied all my contacts and texts over to my new Desire HD. Then after issues with the phone, after advice from the Customer Service team I removed and replaced the sim, and subsequently all the messages I had sent and received were resent to all the recipients/senders. All 800+ texts. It happened again the following week. Vodafone didn't know how to fix it, and during the 35mins to talk to them hundreds of messages were being resent
- I live in Mosman Park, phone reception is generally ok but will drop sporadically when it's sat in the same place. Why??? Other times it just won't work, even in the CBD. I turn off then switch back on my phone which sometimes helps. A lot of farting around.
- Phone tethering is an exasperating affair.

Where do I start? Some calls don't even connect, and when I do get through some of them just drop out. But 3G? Well, I have never been so disgusted at such a poor service. It drops out every few minutes, without fail. I am fed up of having to click refresh numerous times, waiting for pictures to load, reloading pages it struggles to open, and being told I'm 40km from where I actually am. Oh, and every few hours I'm currently having to tell my phone what state I'm in so it can set the time properly.
The simple fact is: I am paying for a service that Vodafone is failing to provide. It is contravening it's contractual obligation, yet I have to pay. If I decided not to pay for this absent service, I would be blacklisted and my credit rating negatively affected for years. Vodafone need to a) sort themselves out and b) compensate us all for the loss of network and waste of our time. They have a hell of a lot to answer for.

17353 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 26 Apr 2011 09:13:14 PM
I have been a Vodafone user for several years. Initially I made the switch because they offered more cost effective prepaid plans and it was the cheapest phone in the store at the time (It was a Vodafone Z28). For those years I had experienced few problems except occasional dropouts in reception, but I live in rural W.A. that is expected and once it happened during a major storm, again something that could be expected. However, fast forward to late 2010 early 2011 and I have several major issues occurring. Now I don't expect any technical system to not have occasional system failures, my IT friends tell me to expect it. They too are with Vodafone and think any serious system failure like those facing Vodafone are unacceptable. I find most concerning that for several years I had trouble free service with Vodafone, now it seems every month I have had at least one serious issue since December 2010. With regard to the latest failure I sent an email on the day (April 24 2011) this email highlighted my concern and requested some form of explanation whilst mentioning that if no satisfactory response could be delivered I would be seeking the services of another telecommunications provider. Now I accept it was a long weekend at the time so wasn't expecting a swift reply, yet today (April 26) my email service popped up with a read receipt saying it had been read at 11.00am now at 7.05pm I still have ha no reply. It is unacceptable for any company, especially one as large as Vodafone, to ignore any customer complaint if it is put in a concise, clear and inoffensive manner. At close of business on the April 29 if I have no satisfactory response, I will be changing provider and I will personally refuse to use any Vodafone network or device again. No company should be so inconsiderate to their customers as to not explain why there is a failure. My advice to Vodafone is this: Firstly, implement a system for notifying all users when and why there are system failures, Secondly, upgrade their systems to avoid serious system failures (glad to hear they are attempting this, but should I be forced to find this out through the media i.e. Today Tonight?) Lastly, having a customer service team that actually respects their customers. I have never got through to their customer service phone lines, as I can't bear hearing the music for more than 30 seconds, however I have heard several people saying that the service provide is inadequate. Vodafone needs to remember they are there to provide a service for us, failing to provide that service will mean we will go elsewhere, in the end bad service to us will mean less money for them.

Everything seemed to work ok except when I got home to check my bank account to find a "Pending transaction" for the attempt credit card top up. How rude, we all know that that would cancel out the remaining credit that I had to walk to the gas station to get, and we all know what their customer service is like... NOT INTERESTED !

Vodafone called TWICE to offer me the deal of the century as I have been a valued customer for over 2 years. It involved Vodafone paying the next 3 months of my cap, sending me a new phone, and better calling and sms rates on my cap. Thinking it was a great deal, I accepted. What they failed to mention over the phone, (and never actually sent any paperwork with the new handset) was that by taking the offer I was signing up for 2 more years. In addition, the piece of crap phone they sent me WAS my upgrade, and not a gift at all. When I found this out after going into my local Vodafone store to complain, the teenager working there claimed she could not help. So, I used the store phone to call customer service, only to be told I was 'ignorant' for accepting the deal over the phone!!! I demanded to speak to management, and finally managed to get a new handset (still not the phone I wanted) and one of the infamous vodafone apologies! Still not happy! I hate Vodafone!

I have been over charged while roaming for "long texts - with no clear explanation of why or how to avoid & I travel regularly; have had to spend expensive roaming charges to communicate while overseas because texts were not operational (to the tune of a couple of hundred dollars); am getting constant texts/missed calls from sales team trying to upgrade me - despite the fact that I now own my own handset & have been trying to change to a sim-only plan; coverage & drop outs have become intolerable - esp. at home - but was assured there should be no problem in my area; have been verbally abused by customer service rep - apology voicemail rec'd and acknowledgement of inappropriateness but no compensation despite costs of calls & time taken to resolve issue (hours+days)... BUT biggest complaint is the inability to discuss my contract & other issues/options with a reasonable, honest & lucid representative - Need an alternative!!

I recently complained about my service levels... Now I used to live in Bacchus Marsh and used to get OK 3G reception... I moved to Southbank 3 months ago and I have no more than 1 bar of reception in my apartment or at my work on Flinders Lane, Melbourne... Frustrating!!! When I spoke to customer care and was informed the following... That A - My last bill was going to be credited onto my account and B - I would receive 25% off my next 3 months bills... I was feeling good again.. Now a month later I received my bill and well firstly i was still being charged for the previous month, secondly the 25% had not been applied and thirdly I had been charged for international calls... Ummm as far as i know to make international calls you need to know people international... I was really annoyed so I called them back to speak to them... All they said to me was that because the notes on the system did not state the A option I was not entitled to this.. I said that I do not think that it was fair that I was paying for a service that I was not getting... The customer service team then said to me that because it was the technical team that I spoke to on the first call that they would need to call me back in 20 minutes after speaking to the tech team..... 7.5 hours later they called me back and said the same thing that because the notes did not state that I was having a bill waivered that i was not entitled to it... I also asked about the international calls and was advised that i would still have to pay for them... I asked to speak to the team leader and was told that was pointless as i would be told the same thing.. She also stated that the team leader was in a meeting.. I said i was willing to wait for them... She can back after 20 minutes on hold and said that the 25% discount was being applied and that the last months bill was being waivered but would still have to pay for international calls... I said fine I will call the TIC

I contact Vodafone every single month in regards to our corporate account. Every month they continue to fail. There are billing errors after billing errors and every time credits are meant to be applied or issues resolved THEY ARE NOT. Customer service reps lie, to contact them it is a nightmare especially when trying to navigate their call centres and I am spending hours on managing my phone service.
The reception is so bad I have suffered lost business and disgruntled customers.
I have not even begun resolving the poor service as I am still trying to resolve billing issues. If I decide to ignore there mistakes my service will be disconnected and false debts transferred to collectors.
I am being harassed and bullied by Vodafone and their incompetence.
FAIL

I constantly have my phone dropping out. I can never ever get reception at uni (I go to the University of Wollongong so not a rural area or anything at all). I don't receive voicemails until DAYS after they were sent. Text messages are sometimes delayed by hours. When I call customer service, I am transfered to several different people, on hold for hours, and the phone usually cuts out several times. Reception disapears for no reason.
In short, Vodafone is the biggest joke of a company! They need to compensate their customers, but we all know they won't do that. As long as their CEO's have their money to roll around in, they don't care that they are ripping their customers off!

After months of painfully slow, intermittent drop-outs or NO service at all I have finally gone back to Telstra, and will never go back to VODAFAIL... I attempted numerous times to get help or to simply end my contract and would be put through to 4 or 5 different people over 45 minutes or more and with no resolution. The customer service is a joke as is the entire vodafone network. I am still unable to end my contract without penalty, despite numerous complaints. How can this be acceptable?
What a joke!
What a joke!
17218 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 26 Apr 2011 06:47:50 PM
Poor reception, calls drop out repeatedly. Calling customer service is a waste of time, sometimes a two hour wait. Can't send photos off my new phone, vodafone store won't help, Bondi Junction Store assistant "Vincent", told me to F##k off when I asked for help with my settings. I will changing my phone and four family member's phones to another network when my plan expires.

Poor service, when paying a bill, the amount was taken out of my account twice, and when i called asking for the second payment to be refunded, vodafone refused!!!!
terrible reception, i have to turn my phone on and off 5 times a day as the reception is so bad, and my phone constantly cuts out.

17179 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is a joke that is getting worse by the day at 26 Apr 2011 06:43:01 PM
I have been with Voda since 2000 and have experienced pretty much all of the issues suggested - dropped calls (often 3-4 times in the one conversation), wrong bills, on hold for an hour, hopeless customer service (I am meant to have an account manager - they keep quitting !) and don't get me started about Lara (who they don;t program to recognise "shut the F up").
How do I get out of the contract that is due to expire in Sept ? I think 11 years is enough loyalty to get an exit bonus (or is that bonus exit ?)! If I have to keep a log of all the issues from now on it will only make me worse.
Cheers

17165 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Too rude to say! at 26 Apr 2011 05:09:40 PM
Let me list the things I have experienced:
1. 1 1/2 hours of waiting on the phone for customer service. My phone darn near overheated, being a hot day.
2. Not recieveing bills - in general I have to ring them TWICE before they'll send my bills.
3. I have tried twice to have both my contracts cancelled. Thank god one expires in 3 months time.
4. SMS messages take forever to arrive on the other end.
5. Calls drop out when I have full bars of reception, and i'm calling a landline.
6. It takes 10 minutes to load a small text only email.
7. GSM network is faster than the 3G.
8. And most disgusting of all - I have been informed that the Vodafone towers were deliberately switched off shortly after the flood events of January 2011 in Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley, leaving thousands of customers unable to call for help or find their families. And after that there was noone on the ground to help the people of the Lockey Valley out with new phones after they lost theirs in the flood.
I am with another telco now and very impressed with their service. Yes, it gets slow online during peak periods, but loading those simple emails are instantaneous, and the 3G network actually exists. This telco also had people on the ground helping people out with new prepaid phones, and were on the ground soon after Yasi went through to get the network up and running.

I will get too worked up if I write the whole story. The problem is I just do not have hours to spend on the phone and visting Vodafail's store to try to resolve a simple number portability request. Mark: F
