Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2157 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Horrible at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:59 AM
Hi, just heard about this site on ABC Newsradio and thought it was a great idea. Have been a customer of Vodafone for over 9 years and recently I upgraded to the new Nokia N8 having previously been using a Nokia 6220 Classic with no trouble at all (for almost 2 years). Have had almost 2 weeks of call dropouts. dead zones (where I never used to have any trouble before), and a couple of "sim registration fails". I've found that if I have the phone on speaker, it seems to work a bit better but that is not always possible when in public places. Also complete loss of signal for no reason which requires and restart to correct. Haven't contacted Cust service as it's the holidays etc but thought I would wait and see if it improved. Did get a new sim card which sort of helped a little. Thanks for this site. regards, John W.

2152 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:23 AM
I forgot to mention I can't get any service just about anywhere and I can't even get a page to load on the internet so that 1.5gb of data is absolutely useless to me. 4 days after I got the phone I it slipped out of my hand from less than 3 feet off the ground and the whole screen shattered. I rang the insurance that I paid extra for and they said it would cost me $200 (25% of the value to buy one brand new) to have my phone repaired or replaced. The guy in the allphones store never mentioned anything about this excess when I signed up and I certainly wasn't given any product disclosure statements with this information. I couldn't afford the $200 at the time (being a single mother of 3) I said I would call them back. By the time I had gathered some money together I got my first bill and it was $316 which naturally I refused to pay and so I could not use my insurance as long as I had an oustanding bill. So 4 months down the track I still owe hundreds of dollars (they are about to cut my phone off after 10 plus years of loyalty and paying my bills on time every time), I have a smashed phone and barely any network coverage. No, I'M NOT HAPPY!

2138 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a worthless 3rd world provider at 27 Dec 2010 11:49:48 AM
Was on prepaid and paid $50 a month over 4 years. Thought it was time to go onto a plan and was rejected (for a LOWER plan of $30) because they accidentally processed my application too many times making it appear that I had been rejected numerous times so they wouldn't even take the time to process my application on it's merits. Go to hell vodafone. Telstra is the best.

I have been with vodafone ever since i got my first phone 5 years ago; it was great, now when people call me, it goes straight to message bank even though my phone is on and i have full service; most of the time my messages are delayed and i have friends trying to call me saying why havnt you replied or did you get my message; that is on the off chance that they actually get through to my phone;.. i mean vodafone is the best for all your plans and price costs; its just the network coverage and the delivery of messages as such.

2113 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more painful that having a tooth removed without anaesthetic at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:24 AM
I have no data coverage and I live in the middle of Brisbane!!! I have just signed a contract for 2 years and am really dissapointed that I have minimal if no coverage Also, I went into 3 Vodafone in the city and asked if someone could help me with setting up my HTC. I have a hotmail account and for some reason it won't verify. The guy at the shop pretty much looked at it and said for me to ring Vodafone support and then proceeded to write the number down. I also asked if he could cancel my prepaid internet with 3 as I now (well I'm suppose to) have vodafone internet. He then gave me another number to call...... !!! I am sick of ringing Vodafone only to speak to someone on the other side of the world who have no idea and no people skills..... I am a single Mum who feels like I have been told lies just to get a sale. I feel sad that I have to pay an amount per month for a service that doesn't do what it is supposed to. I knew I should have never gone into a Vodafone store.......

2106 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is the worst at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:13 AM
I changed from Virgin(thinking they were not very good reception wise) to Vodafone only to be terribly disappointed. I live in Wynnum & constantly have no signal. I have to walk outside & once I have a signal have to stand very still incase it drops out. I am more without a service than with. If I am in the Redland Bay area, I never have a signal as well. This is just pathetic. There is also a case of a delay in receiving sms'. Vodafone is the worst & once my contract is up with them, I will definitely be changing carriers.

2105 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:11 AM
I recieved a brochure in the mail offering a free mobile phone upgrade 3 months before my contract was due to end if I signed up for another 24 month contract. As my E71 was already on its last legs and I had been satisfied with my plan for the last 10 years I decided to take advantage of this offer. I went in to an allphones store and asked the salesman about the offer. He said he could do the upgrade for me in store as he was an authorised vodafone dealer. When I tried to sign up for my new phone he told me that the representative from vodafone that he was talking to on the phone said my plan had been discontinued but I could sign on to the new $49 cap which was an identical plan with the exact same call rates just under a different name and with a bonus 1.5gb of data and more call credit. So naturally I thought I was getting a great deal and signed up for this new phone, extra monthly credit and data allowance on a plan I was GUARANTEED was identical to my old one as far as call costs etc. In ten years I have never once exceeded my $49 cap so imagine my surprise and anger when I recieve a $316 bill and then a $424 bill after making LESS calls than I normally would in a month on my old plan. So I went back to the dealer and demanded he fix my plan but he said the only people who could change the plan were vodafone. After 3 visits in store to vodafone lasting about 10hrs and a further 8 or more hours arguing with the jerks in their call centre on the phone who refused to let me speak to anyone higher up I am still lumped with a 24 month plan costing me hundreds of dollars every month. The only solution they would offer me was to increase my plan to the $69 cap (which I should not have had to do at all) and they assured me that should cover all my calls but guess what? My next bill still cost me almost $100! NOT HAPPY AT ALL! I WANT MY OLD PLAN BACK AND THEY CAN JAM THEIR NEW PHONE UP THEIR A$$. I could have purchased that phone outright ten times and stayed on my old plan for what this new one is going to cost me!

2104 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:42:51 AM
My new i-phone would only receive voicemail messages after up to 4 days later. (Not immediately as one would expect) I lost over $300 worth of work in my detailing business directly as a result of not receiving the notifications in a timely manner. Waited on hold for 70 mins, being transferred from one department to another, to try to fix this. It ended up being something they knew about, that they'd put in place to 'avoid glitches in the system '. When I complained about my lost income as a direct result of this 'quickfix'they 'generously'compensated me $10. Oh,...and I did get a 'sorry'.

I have calls that drop out. I have messages that take days to get through either sending or receiving, if it is important I'll call to make sure the information gets throught immediately. i get no coverage from the Bruce highway Gympie turnoff right through to Tin Can Bay. The very place where if you breakdown you have to wait for someone to stop as it is so farawy from civilisation. My sister called and left a voiemail for me to attend a function for her daughters, there was no missed call alert or a voicemail message, so I was pissed at her for not being invited until I found out where my parents were, I felt like an after thought. Until I got another voicemail then I found out I had 2 which ended up being the one from my sister just getting it about a week late. i'll send text messages and the recipient will get it 4 or 5 times instead of once and vice versa. i just wonder if I am being charged once or the 4 or 5 times they receive them

Moved about 1km away to a new house. Phone worked great .. then out of nowhere about 2 months later for no apparent reason I could no longer get reception from inside my house. I had to sit outside in the middle of my yard to get reception. EPIC FAIL. Now with Telstra .. not as great value (in theory) and more expensive BUT calls / texts / voicemail work EVERY time without fail and customer service is available 24/7 with a real person to answer and help.

2098 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No Coverage at 27 Dec 2010 11:41:08 AM
We are staying with our son in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. We are in a normal neighborhood that should not have any problems with coverage. If I want to send a message or send or recieve a phone call I have to go into one corner of the house and I mean stand in a corner next to the wall to make a call or send a message. If I step one foot out of this corner I will lose my call or my message will not be sent. What is that all about? My son has Optus and his mobile phone is fine.

Im a prepay customer for more than 10 years. Service getting progresssively worst. No connection, drop outs, slow message delivery and receipt. Even received other peoples voicemail delivered to my message centre. How they get away with saying that $29 is actually worth $150?? When you buy $50 worth of anything you usually get $50 worth. Currently I have 63 cents balance and $90 of Vodafone to Vodafone credit. Try and make a call and warned that I do not have enough credit to make a call. Getting pretty bloody expensive to make a call. Looking at investing in Homing pidgeons. You feed mine and I will feed yours. Messsage is reliably delivered everytime regardless of distance.

My sister is connected with 3/vodafone and was travelling overseas. She rang up to disable the internet. When she was over there she got a message saying warning internet being charged so she rang them to find out and discovered that they had not disabled the internet/global roaming and that she had been charged $600 in 1 day! She rang them from the US and the lady admitted fault and said that she could dispute the bill when she returned back. After returning back, she discovered that not only had the internet not been turned off again, she had been now charged over $1000, keeping in mind that she is using a very basic nokia that hardly supports internet. Once my dad called to dispute this, they said that they had no record of any calls and that we have to pay for exact amount with no credit! This is just an absolute rort! 3 mobile being part of vodafone are thieves, and to make it worse you are speaking to some one in India who hardly understands a word you are saying. With my experience with vodafone also, I would never sign another contract with them or 3 mobile!

2072 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Falling to pieces at 27 Dec 2010 11:35:30 AM
I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for over 10 years and it's a shame to experience in the last 2 years it's decline in services. Vodafone is falling apart. My problems encountered are:
- having to break my internet broadband contract as internet service, which once worked fine completely ceased in the area I live in.
- after breaking the contract, receiving ongoing bills for months and having to make several attempts on the phone and in store to have the bills cancelled.
- I changed my mobile number and this reset everything in the system, so I no longer was able to receive MMS, internet or have my bills sent to my email. I also was unable to access voicemail settings for some unknown reason.
- It took 4 phone calls and a visit in store to rectify the abovementioned.
LETS NOT FORGET
- Constant delays in text messaging
- 45 minute wait on hold to customer service (at all times)
- Constant outage nation wide, especially when it's 2am and you have a medical emergency.

I have 6 months left on my phone contract, I will be changing carrier and will boycot Vodafail forever. I have already moved to another carrier for my net services and am satisfied.

Another issue. I went into the store to get a new phone .. the order went through but the idiot behind the desk forgot to put a number in my order so I was approved for '0' phones. They put through again and was assured it would be an hour or two so stuck around shopping and came back nothing so had to cancel. Came back next week to do it same thing order never came back so cancelled again. Came back NEXT week and I was rejected because of my credit history. Paid $160 to have a look at my credit report only to find only thing on there was vodafone order x 3 rejected which is a lie they were simply cancelled. In other words they made it look like I got disapproved and kept applying thus I am now unable to get a phone on credit thanks to lovely Vodafone.

I have 2 contract phones with Vodafone and not only do they always drop out of reception, fail on calls and I swear I get charged for things I was originally told were included in my contract but even trying to get hold of Vodafone is a joke, last time it took 4 days of calling Vodafone to order a new ph, they told me to visit my nearest Vodafone store and when I did they told me to go and call Vodafone again they couldnt help me, the staff promise to call you back .... and never do, they forgot to order my new Blackberry and after calling 2 weeks later to see where it was told me it had never been ordered meanwhile my business was suffering. Vodafone is a joke here in Australia and trying to complain to them leaves with getting automated email replies and no real person to talk too.

I called the customer support number for three whole months to update my credit card details for getting phone credit. No matter which option I took on the automatic voice thingy it would hang up on me at the very end after dialing. Took to the website ... never heard back. Eventually 3 months later the service was up and running again. I guess a few customer support people got paid to do nothing for 3 months while no calls could get through the automated service.

I got a Blackberry Storm on a $29 contract for 24 months, then I was offered a $10 on top of the $29 for free internet and phone calls, I thought well why not, so on the 1st June I got a Blackberry Storm paying $39 a month.

On the 10th August I got my first bill after two months, saying I owed $3000 after barley even using the Internet or phone itself, I fought Vodafone for a whole month, finally on the 21st September, Vodafone brought the debt from $3000 to $500, since then I have not paid and single cent, I thought this was odd, since then I have not even touched my phone, and on the 19th November, I got my 2nd Statement and it said I owed $1300, now that I have not touched my phone and they are still charging me, since then they have sent the debt to a debt collector and I am fighting them that I am not going to pay it, but since 3 weeks ago they stopped harassing me and now I realize that Vodafone is scared. I have been fighting this since, the Blackberry Storm is supposed to have the best reception in Townsville, 80% of the time there was no service or it was very bad.

I will go to court to shut Vodafone down it is about time people stood up to these low life scum.

I purchased a new 3g phone on a plan following promised greatly improved reception in my area. I live in Bucca (Near Bundaberg) In Queensland. To demonstrate the improveed coverage the sales person showed me the "pink" area on the map which indicated full coverage. The "pink" area completely surrounded where i live for at least 30 kilometers in every direction. When i received the phone I found it to be no different to my old phone which was also a Vodaphone. Several futile attempts to have anything done about by Vodaphone have left me with an expensve alarm clock. I will never ever buy Vodaphone again. If you want to contact me ozedave_2@hotmail.com.

An extract of a complaint I sent after going over my contract limit because I lost track of the amount I was using because their software didn't work.(via email because their complaints button went nowhere). There's more but this is all I have a record of:

Your complaints button goes nowhere.

I've received a $430 bill. Is there any way I can get my next bill reduced or the usage for April reduced to cover my excess usage in March?

Or because for the first couple of months the Vodafone Mobile Connect was set by default at 500MB. Being on a 5Gig plan, I was 'mistaken' in believing I had reached my limit at 1/2 a Gig - so maybe you could take the amount from that.

Or because I've had repeated problems with the software and modem which caused a lot of down time, I eventually bought a new modem and the software in that didn't work either. I called up and a tech guy set me up to bypass Vodafone Mobile Connect. This all put me offline for substantial periods over my contract, so maybe you could take the amount I didn't use because of this problem and take it off my excess.

Also can I suggest you introduce an access limiting device for your customers or at least an automated call if over a certain $ amount. as clearly I had no intention of using this inducing this bill.

No reception where we live (Chapel Hill in Brisbane). When I asked at a Vodafone store, they looked up the suburb on a website and told me there was good reception there. HA! I have to drive about 2 minutes from our house before I get proper reception.

Calls on Vodafone are constantly failing, text messages take hours to come through and voicemail messages sometimes don't come through until the next day.

I've switched to using a WhatsApp instead of texts.

Just bought a tablet and went with Telstra instead of Vodafone for that.

We'll be dumping Vodafone at the end of the contract.

Well, after they couldn't manage to send me a single bill and after 5 months of me hounding them for one, they disconnected my account for failing to pay up... then came the $1000 unexplained bill notification via text message, with a threat to disconnect me AGAIN, for failing to pay a bill I had never received...this was 3 months worth of bills that they still refuse to explain, even after I was advised to raise my cap limit to keep bills manageable ( mind you my usage never changed but the bills would vary by hundreds of dollars. If only I had known about the TIO back then. Finally after my handset broke, and they refused to help me as it was one week out of warranty (and still had about a year left on the contract), I went and got a Telstra account. Perfect service, great reception, much better than the crap I had to go through with Vodafone. Then I discovered that I also have a bad credit rating thanks to them, after trying to sort out the mess with them I just walked away and gave up, until now. After lodging a complaint with the TIO, who are fantastic, I recieved a voicemail message from Vodafone, with a request for me to contact them on a mobile number... which I did, and it was disconnected, so I contacted TIO a 2nd time. This time I got a request from Vodafone asking me to TEXT them. No reply again, so now the TIO is taking this onto a further level. Thank goodness these guys exist.

We had signed up to Vodafone when we got our Iphones and were told that we would have full coverage in our area we have forever since had problems with our coverage as well as our data plan and not being able to use the internet.
We spoke to Vodafone and all they could tell us was "we havent had anyone coming to us with problems about coverage and that all you can do is reset your phones and see if that helps and if not you will have to put it in to get fixed"
We are really not happy with Vodafone and would like to go to another company but we are locked into a contract with Vodafone.. so we are paying for something that is not what we signed up for.

I was with vodafone for many years and i was a good customer then the calls started dropping out and my reception would go for 30 minutes at a time. When i emailed vodafone they gave me the run around saying check my phone and that would be the problem and then telling me use other phones or try other places in my house i did this and i knew it was just a load of crap as i had tried all this previously. The problem was them and it was when i called and they would not do anything but tell me i had to try things like other phones i would and they still did nothing when i said i was changeing to another provider they said well you do that. So the people vodafone has taking complaints from another country are not filtering the complaints through to the people here obviously thsi shows how you cant just put call centres overseas they dont always do the job but hide the problems it has been since this has happened that my service has become so bad i changed to optus.

Since Vodafail took over 3 we have been experiencing all the same issues as Vodafail customers. We are at a point where we are so over the dropped calls, no reception and other service fails that we may have to go back to Telstra. Unfortunately, when a company takes over another you don't have a say (of course) but in this case, there should be some system for cancelling contracts etc. We left Vodafone years ago and had never planned to go back and now are stuck until contract runs out.

Thought I'd add my two cents worth. I've been with a few other providers but this is undoubtedly the worst. The justification I made to myself was the daily drop outs and poor data reception was just a fact of using a discount provider (I only call them discount as they are cheaper than Telstra). Can't say I'm happy about it, I drive to and from work (in Brisbane) the trip takes 20 minutes and I have never (sounds like a generalisation but it isn't) been able to conduct a conversation for that full length of time without it dropping out, breaking up, one person not able to communicate or turn into very loud unintelligible audio squawk (which is pretty bad in an ear piece while I'm driving). Saw your site promoted on the ABCnews site. Nice idea... good luck.

i have been on the phone to vodafone a number of time's asking why i don't get coverage in my home on my mobile and my internet, they tell me the coverage in my area is great and it should work and if i still have issue's maybe i should stand near a window or outside. I don't pay my bill to stand in the rain while on the phone, i have problem's with recieving message's (if they get through to me at all) friend's have told me they have tried calling me and the phone is switched off, when it's actually on in my hand. really not happy with vodafone i have been with them for year's and would really hate to switch network's but this is very frustrating!

1954 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is epic customer service fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:15:15 AM
As a loyal and high-paying customer of twelve years with Vodafone I found the 'service' I received over the past two years to get increasingly worse. I moved to a Central QLD mining town for work and asked Vodafone to freeze my cap payments as there was no Vodafone range, so I couldn't use my phone at all. I got a Telstra pre-paid so I could be contactable whilst out of Voda range. I was told 'too bad' and was charged my monthly cap even though I couldn't use it. When I got back to the city I had VF customer service people calling up twice a week for two months to see if everything was ok, as they could clearly see a big-spender had stopped generating charges at all for four months. I told them I shouldn't have to pay for a service I can't use and they agreed to refund me the money charged. However they didn't and I then received abusive (that's right, abusive) calls from Indians demanding the payment I owed them. It then went a to a debt collector who called asking for my details 'on behalf of Vodafone'. Customer service fail - no rewards for loyalty and they broke my privacy. This is the 'nutshell' version of a very long-wonded and boring story. The moral is, I have switched to Telstra. I have range everywhere I go and so far, no abusive calls or communication breakdowns!

I find my Vodaphone, works when it feels like it, cuts me off when it chooses and is so slow at downloading any data, you feel like you are on dial-up.
Why don't they just close down, they don't even offer a good after hours service. This is 2010 into 2011 and to me Vodaphone is a very weak service.

Living in Port Douglas is almost like a forgotten town by Vodafone, 95% of my calls goes directly to voicemail and that's hardly the issue, after 2 to 3 days i received notice saying i have voicemail that was left a few days ago, the longest one i had was 7 days after the message was left. Friends and families get frustrated with me. India/Egypt didn't help much, can't wait for my contract to finish and probably going to another company with exactly the same problem.

1922 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mind Numbing at 27 Dec 2010 11:05:57 AM
I live to South East Queensland and I seem to at times have good reception the other days it seems to be crap and all of it is inconsistant and frustrating. I can be out for work and trying to use my mobile to call back to work and it drops out as someone answers the phone or the txt messages wont send but after 3-4 tries it finally works.
Not only that I called the customer 'Care' line to order a new phone and went through all of the usual rigmarole to get it. They told me it would be delivered in 2 weeks. When that time passed I still had no phone so I called back and they told me that there was an issue on the system, an error so my order never happened. They couldnt explain what had happened and they dont know why no one bothered to make contact and let me know this had happened. Still they said in 24-48 hrs they would call me and replace the order when it cleared from the system. That never happend either. So for 3 months this same thing went on and on. I would call and they would tell me the same story. In the end I got annoyed and demanded answers. The 'supervisor' told me I could finally go into a store and pick up the phone. But ofcourse my local store had been closed for a refit and the nearest ones were 1.5 hours away and I didnt have a car. I told her that and she said that there is nothing they can do so either wait til the error was fixed or my store reopened. When th store reopened, I went in and told them that Iv been waiting 3 months for a phone and was told to come in, they had not been told any of the information. The store assistant had to spend another hour on the phone to see if I could have my new phone. I changed to vodafone because I was told good things about there recption and service but both have been crap since I joined. 3 months for a phone come on, really!

My hunch is that these coverage/billing/roaming issues are the result of vodafone trying to intergrate the 3 and vodafone networks.

We used to live on the sunshine coast. Used to get good 3G coverage in the house.

Then one day that all changed. We could only get roaming. We didn't move. Didn't do anything. But our roaming charges went through the roof. The only thing that changed was the network. Which was the same time all these other problems started appearing.

Stupidly switched to Vodafone from Optus when I got my iPhone 3GS - worst mistake of my life! Intermitettent reception, callers not able to get through despite full signal on my end, delayed SMS, dropped phone calls (coincidentally manynof these when on hold to Vodafone for help). Currently waiting on resolution of 2 month ongoing issue - my parents are overseas and when I SMS them they receive the message multiple times, and are charged for each one they recieve, Vodafone have said they know what the problem is (their server) but have not yet fixed it. I am counting the minutes until my contract is over to switch to Telstra - pricey but reliable (never thought I'd say that about Telstra).

I don't understand why I have to pay my bill for services that are not provided to me - surely that constitutes a breach of contract?? I'm paying for them to provide a service that they consistently fail to provide. Count me in on any class action!!

However the latest negative publicity has saved me from the obvious frustration , particularly the poor customer service. Too bad whistle blowers are treated so badly , if not then I'm sure there would be heaps of vodaphone employees coming forward with the true picture of how bad things really are.

Its a hit and miss! Maybe I can make calls, maybe I can't. Maybe I'm contactable, maybe I'm not. Who knows what their magical formula for connection coverage is? What a welcoming experience ... in the first month they barred my incoming/outgoing because I had not paid the invoice. Funny thing (not) is that they barred me because their business sales rep. had not entered any of my details into their system. Then they threatened to re-bar me if I didn't now pay asap.
27 Dec 2010 09:18:49 AM: You can check all your details on the "My Vodafone" section on their website. It is the consumer's responsibility to ensure that the billing details are correct. Under "My Vodafone" you can track your usage, even un-billed usage, and check and ensure that direct debit details have been set up properly. Vodafone will usually try and contact you 3 times if payment has not been received. If they don't receive any response then they will disconnect - same as all carriers and service providers. If you need time to pay the bill, ask them for time and they will usually give it to you within reason.
27 Dec 2010 10:09:09 PM: So ... i'm guessing you work @ VodaFail !!! Get off these forums are deal with the real problems at hand ie - poor coverage, pathetic customer service.
Secondly, why appoint sales reps for business clients? Why have in depth conversations about what Vodafail can do for your business? Why discuss and promise special plans and discounts? ..... and then ... Why not record the customer's address, email etc ... and hey, while we are at it - Why not give the customer a call to alert them? It's a VodaFail Mobile Number - so i'm guessing they probably couldn't connect! No Coverage after all!

I have an iPhone 3GS with Vodafone (which has now, unfortunately for her, been passed down to my girlfriend). The reception, for the last 18 months has been lousy at best. One bar almost all day, everywhere. Trying to use the internet on the iPhone is totally useless. I think a very strong message needs to be sent to Vodafone so they are acutely aware of the problems they face at the moment and the massive dissatisfaction across the board with all their services!

Everytime I contact them to complain about an issue - I get a customer service representative denying any issues and wasting my time further on the phone.

Clearly since everyone else is experiencing difficulty - if they just apologised on the phone and told me they were working towards fixing it rather than telling me no problem exists - I would feel a whole lot better.

Renewed an existing contract with 3 in dec 2009 after 2 years of great service, and slowly the broadband started to get slower and the mobile call reception deteriorated until we now have to go outside to make a call and avoid dropouts. Our internet is marginally faster than dial up during peak times and is so slow even when running at it's best I have considered moving house. Vodafone tell me they have been decommissioning 3 towers in the area and pushing all the services through existing vodafone towers. Result, congestion, and poor service quality. They did not tell us and we are still one year away from the end of the contract which is now not worth what we are paying. Vodafrustration rating 10.

I have to stand on one leg in the back of the garden and one hand up in the air to get 1 bar signal strength on the vodafone service other wise its acceptable in the area for what i pay. However suing this company is only going to shut it down and leaving many people out of work. Do not blame the people at the shopfront, go an find the Executive staff and complain to their face. And join an other phone company, who are probably no better?
I am all for some compensation based on case by case. Local government and complaints from people over unsightly towers are partly to blame, holding up the construction of new towers.
Ps my other phone is with Telstra, and i have to have both arms up to get a signal, and their are worse things to complain about than phone coverage!

Call dropouts, missed calls without receiving the actual call, poor call quality, calling the same number a few times to make the call (cell towers don't respond quickly), constant redial to make a short call, very poor reception in 4509 postcode and no service inside the building in most areas of Brisbane North-side where I work. Vodafone has oversold its subscription and has failed to upgrade the towers to accommodate new connections.

I think NBN is to blame, all telecom companies have stopped upgrading due to NBN roll-out. Goodluck to tll those think Optus or Telstra are better. It is the same shit different name.
27 Dec 2010 01:55:45 PM: Um dude, the NBN has got nothing to do with mobile networks. In fact it is the complete opposite
27 Dec 2010 02:21:14 PM: It is networks like Vfail that the Coalitions Alternative to the NBN Policy relies to fill in the gaps in their plan. Gee that'll work great won't it? Mr Turnbull might get a good connection from his harbour viewed ivory tower with direct line of sight to over 5 trans towers.I'd shit myself with Joy at the 12mbs or 7 mbs that mob BB is theoretically capable of, Often 7Kbs is as good as it gets, and speeds in bps are sometimes the best available, if at all. Bring on the NBN, and don't let any entity at all associated with the Vodabone-of -Contention anywhere near it.
27 Dec 2010 02:33:35 PM: I have a HTC Desire with Telstra and the reception is amazing. I have reception on Fraser Island and Stradbroke Island, whereas my friends who have Optus and Vodafone phones get none. I get reception constantly around Brisbane and I have an incredibly fast data connection and a reliable carrier. I've been with 3mobile before (for 3 years) and was frustrated as my phone dropped calls when it constantly changed between 3g and roaming. Now, I'm on NextG almost all the time, and if not, I receive Edge. I will continue to be a Telstra customer as they truly have a network that actually works.

was called to an elderly customers premises 2 weeks ago to set up a wireless broadband stick he had delivered from vodafone. It was a prepaid unit delivered by VF them self.

I arrived to set the device up, needed to activate it, hes only other connection was a dial up service and the VF activate site takes along time to load on a dial up service. Any way, got to the page, tried to activate it, Put in the sim number and the service number (which i had to find by sms'ing from the computer to my phone) and it came up with a cant activate, having problems, call customer service. Rang them, turns out, the sim card they sent with the modem can not be activated for mobile broadband use , its a voice sim. (yet sms from the service says 12mth 12gb) anyway, they said they would arrange a proper sim, Called back over a week later, the new sim arrived, tried again, wouldn't activate, Took the modem to the shop to try on another pc, no go, called vf. Wrong sim again.

Right, wasn't putting up with this anymore, drove to the closest VF store, "sorry we can't help you, there is a pin on the account, without that no good. (i had everything that came with the modem) Can you have (customer) come in, No he is old and this is a VF problem.

Got back to the shop told the customer VF wont help and it is the wrong sim card (twice). Bugger it, the VF unit can go back, I'll organise an optus pre-paid.

Went to Big-W bought a $49 optus modem, popped the card in it, went to optus.com.au/activate, typed in the sim number and a few other details. 5 minutes later, The modem was up and running.

I ditched vodafone a couple years ago, I left after my contract ended but when I tried to pay my final bill I could not because when I continually phoned the payment line it would not recognise my number because it was no longer vodafone, plus when I tried to phone from an optus or telstra landline or mobile it would not connect so it was impossible to get to talk to a person. I tried for over a month then gave up. 6 months later I got issue a failure to pay notice from a debt collector which of course then screws up your credit rating. At least now I am away from them. Good luck to everyone with your law suit.

This is after spending nearly 3 hours in total on the phone going through the same trouble shooting process, and guess what? No improvement!! Have I received a call back? Of course not. The reception issues at home are my main issue because I spend most of my time here. The reality is that reception is poor across a number of areas I visit. Have now been pseudo released (when they send me the documentation), but only 2 weeks into my contract I suddenly lost performance on my new service.
Various calls to 'help' and 'customer support' failed, and as my phone is used primarily to make calls, this started to cost me money as I could rarely get service.
The attitude of the customer support staff (with the exception of a couple of Australian based people) was deplorable. I could not believe that after explaining the steps I had taken to isolate the problem that they would then ask me is I had taken those steps again...
In the end a quick call to the TIO solved the dilemma...within hours I was released.
What a saga...

1544 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is i dont know how they are allowed to continue to operate at 27 Dec 2010 06:50:04 AM
I am glad i am not with vodafail. they have been the worst network i have been with. i was originally with 3 and i must say they are a good network but the reason why i left 3 was because i could not get reception in parts of my house. i jumped on the voda website and saw that they covered all of Shailer Park, QLD. this proved to be not the case. After i saw this, i believe voda deceptively advertise that they operate in some areas where they do not service.

their indian team is horrible and the service is extremely poor; not to mention some people from their business team even though the one im talking about is from brisbane. After being with voda for 3 months, i was able to cancel my contract for free.
27 Dec 2010 08:47:49 AM: 3 is now owned by Vodafail and uses their network
27 Dec 2010 09:34:57 AM: I believe this is the problem, 3, they never had any coverage outside the big cities

1540 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Customer Service - Fail at 27 Dec 2010 06:39:35 AM
Wireless broadband cutomer in Brisbane. Initially 5GB for $40 seemed resonable against the alt options. The service was S-L-O-W to say the least, barely above dial up. Connecting was massive issue, but thanks to Whirlpool, learnt how to hook up using Windows internet connection instead of Voda software. Soon as Bigpond dropped 50GB to $50 bucks this year, migrated straight away (already had BB connection/Foxtel). Called Voda and on hold for 45 mins. THAT was enough time for me to lodge a complaint with Telephone Ombudsman...
Got a phone call back the next day from Voda rep (aussie). Why anyone waits for hours is beyond me! 45 mins is enough. I wouldn't treat my customers like that. I wouldn't have a business. End result, dropped back to a 1GB plan for $10/mth. The irony is that it works pretty good at my folks place on the Gold Coast...So I'm happy enough now.

to the employee below. $500 billion in network upgrades? is that a correct figure? and in what part of our contracts does it state poor network performance is acceptable? is it next to the stipulation of poor customer service is tolerated? or next to the stipulation that the company you're signing this contract with may merge with another global network and completely offshore all customer service based activity, bar store staff, at their own discretion? I'm happy that Vodafone employees are happy in their jobs and feel the need to support the company when times are tough, signs of a good person with loyalty where it should be. but don't neglect the fact that your company is responsible to one entity first and foremost; the majority stakeholder, in this case, us the consumer. So it's your responisbility to give us the time of day to complain about service from your network when it's underperforming, and not roll your eyes when we go into your stores, or treat us like a number when we call your call centres. we give you the dignity of allowing you to upsell and speed read our contracts when going through the motions of your sales process, so please allow us the same respect when we decide your service isn't good enough anymore and use other channels to vent our frustrations.
24 Dec 2010 07:35:01 PM: Completely agree. What an eloquent post. I too feel for most of the voda store employees, and the ones I have spoken to have been nice and understanding of the issues since they are experiencing it themselves. But there are a handful commenting on this website who are bitter to the point of being rude and arrogant. I hope they realise they are just making themselves and vodafone look even worse.
27 Dec 2010 07:42:18 AM: it is against Company Policy to comment either good or bad regarding Vodafone if you are an employee of the Company, this is directly for the media spokesperson for Vodafone to make, not for you to act apon. Consider yourselves warned, but for the rest of us, BRING IT ON - TELL US AND THEM HOW IT REALLY IS!
27 Dec 2010 09:09:04 AM: Have you not heard of free speech. Anybody and everybody is entitled to it without someone issuing threats. If they submit an honest view that is good enough. Any Company the resorts to threats against it's own staff is on the to
oblivion.
27 Dec 2010 09:28:43 AM: Agree, have they paid the money they owe India yet
27 Dec 2010 10:26:51 AM: No, just about every mid-large size organisations have policies which ban employees from making public comment. They do so at risk of having their employment terminated. Right or wrong, companies employ specialist communications people to handle media etc.
27 Dec 2010 01:09:32 PM: Yep they're known as "spin doctors" because they can twist and turn anything into a fine yarn. If an employee of a company is told to pull the wool over the customers eyes that is wrong, they should be encouraged to tell the truth not the "spin" as dictated by the PR companies. They are contracted and paid well to distort the truth. I should know because I am one of them, but VF is not one of my clients.
27 Dec 2010 01:12:22 PM: Since when is lying acceptable corporate or social behavior?
28 Dec 2010 10:34:52 AM: "27 Dec 2010 11:09:04 AM: Have you not heard of free speech" - I certainly have and what's more I actually know what the phrase means and no, it does not mean that a person can say whatever they like.

someone actually started a website about this? really?

clearly some people have too much time on their hands. im seconding the notion of this being "an excuse to complain about the most minuscule and pathetic issues in life".

if anyone else works in telecommunications, they know what the phrase "network upgrade" means. $500 billion in network upgrades in the next 12 months... yes, doesnt seem like vodafone wants to fix their network at all.

read your contracts people, and find something else to do than blog about.

and to the blogger who works at Optus - I work for Vodafone. Dont start on customer service. At least vodafone staff know what the word SMILE means.
22 Dec 2010 07:31:39 PM: /like
22 Dec 2010 07:52:08 PM: HA CLASSIC. note to telstra and optus.. last time i checked you didnt have perfect networks either?
22 Dec 2010 08:17:23 PM: nicely put :)
22 Dec 2010 09:19:16 PM: Making this website was just a nice way to pass the time while I was on hold to complain about the fact I couldn't receive or make voice calls half the day. That messages and voicemail were arriving a day late and the calls that did go through drop out.
22 Dec 2010 10:08:26 PM: Optus is the worst. They sold me a phone in a dodgy box that ended up being faulty. They don't even follow correct business rules because they're all franchised not company owned. A friend of mine is an ex employee and they used to use 90 points of ID instead of 100 and would exaggerate details in credit checks to get people approved. Last time I checked that was FRAUD
22 Dec 2010 10:11:04 PM: To QLD (original poster), tell it to the people who are relying on their mobile phones for business and work, only to find that they're not receiving calls. Tell it to people who are waiting for important phone calls/SMSs to come through for personal reasons. We're paying for a service that isn't being provided. I think people have every right to complain.
23 Dec 2010 08:16:15 AM: I 2nd that last post. We rely on our wireless comms as much as electricity for our business. It's not like there are phone booths on every corner anymore, and if there were...there's no 3G there either :(
23 Dec 2010 12:54:09 PM: It's Telstra's fault there's no phone booths... Oh wait wrong site... better go find Telstrafail.com...
24 Dec 2010 12:37:56 PM: $500 billion in network upgrades? is that a correct figure? and in what part of our contracts does it state poor network performance is acceptable? is it next to the stipulation of poor customer service is tolerated? or next to the stipulation that the company you're signing this contract with may merge with another global network and completely offshore all customer service based activity, bar store staff, at their own discretion? I'm happy that Vodafone employees are happy in their jobs and feel the need to support the company when times are tough, signs of a good person with loyalty where it should be. but don't neglect the fact that your company is responsible to one entity first and foremost; the majority stakeholder, in this case, us the consumer. 27 Dec 2010 07:46:23 AM: Great to know a middle of the road telco like Vodafone can afford to spend half the GDP of Australia on "network upgrades". Is that you Russell Crow? I didn't know you worked at Vodafone.

wow. I am amazed at how selfish and materialistic people are these days. any excuse to complain about the most minuscule and pathetic issue in life.

Heres an idea.. start complaining when you are living in a third world country with NO money to even buy a phone, NO such thing as telecommunications to even get service, NO education to even know what technology is, let alone a constant struggle to stay hydrated and fed. That is what I would refer to as "pain".

put things a little more in perspective for you?
22 Dec 2010 07:24:56 PM: There are plenty of problems affecting people's lives all over the world. However these issues are affecting people's lives here in Australia. They are paying for a service that they are not receiving, dropped calls and poor reception are costing them money and creating stress.

Also, there looks to be a vodafail facebook group created by someone in Ghana.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=280862743083
22 Dec 2010 07:27:50 PM: because vodafone is the only network in australia which occasionally "drops calls"

its called a 'deadzone' you dimwitt.

and if the most stressful thing in your life is the signal on your mobile phone, you obviously live vicariously through other people
22 Dec 2010 07:40:07 PM: if your child has emergency medical issues that may threaten their life, and you cannot count on your telecommunications provider to keep contact with your child, I'm sure you will not feel this issue is minuscule or pathetic.

Also by your logic, anyone who has enough food to survive should not complain about anything? Having people who have the courage and tenacity to complain when something is not right, such as when companies take advantage of consumers, or when people's rights are being infringed upon, is how a society fights injustices and moves forward to a better society. That is why we have the ACCC, TIO and ultimately, the judicial system.

Third world countries face a whole host of challenges much more immediate in terms of survival than ours - that is true, but that does not mean we should all accept the status quo of our society because there is always room for improvement and it is up to all of us to make it happen.
22 Dec 2010 07:52:34 PM: If you do need to make an emergency call, from any network, and you find you have no reception, call 112. It will scour for an available tower no matter what network and use that one. I believe this feature also works worldwide.
22 Dec 2010 08:34:44 PM: Ahhh the courage and tenacity of internet users to complain via a specifically themed blog. A force for deep societal change.
22 Dec 2010 10:10:06 PM: ahhhh derr emergency calls can be made anytime anywhere with anyones reception. get it right
22 Dec 2010 10:39:10 PM: Original poster- I agree, but part of getting a grip is having the courage to take on bullies opressing or robbing people.
23 Dec 2010 08:37:41 AM: whoever this is SHUT UP!
We can all agree that there are bigger issues in life and all around the world. I, for one, am from a 3rd world country and am very privileged to be in Australia. HOWEVER, why should we be paying for services that are NOT being provided to us correctly when we could be using this money to better help those who you mention?

Stop trying to act like you're more superior because you're thinking about the people in 'real pain'. How much do you do for those who are more needy than you? Tell us, buddy. Have you even been to a 3rd world country? Maybe.

1403 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Well failed at 22 Dec 2010 11:05:18 AM
How do you pay a bill with these guys? I've been trying for 2 weeks now to use their phone payment system and the furtherest I've got is to the point of getting a receipt number where it says it fails. Most times that dopey windbag Lara tells me there's a fault only after a protracted time on hold.

Once I got through to a human (granted, one presumably dressed in a clown suit) after waiting on hold while my children grew up only to be thoughtlessly put through to the automated system that then dutifully failed!

Tried to pay them again just now...my daily dose of pain. At least Lara tells me up front they have problems and the whole thing was over (without payment made) in under 5mins.

Seriously. Buy a clue Vodafone.
22 Dec 2010 11:11:39 AM: Or try saying 'billing' to Lara and then 'different enquiry'. or get a clue and bpay. It's sooo convenient and you never have to speak to a pesky human or robot at all!
22 Dec 2010 05:25:35 PM: i cant even view my bill or current monthly usage on their website.. so how can i pay online if their site wont even work??
22 Dec 2010 05:56:25 PM: BPay works from your internet banking, not the Vodafone website.
22 Dec 2010 07:44:20 PM: You can't pay a bill via BPay from your phone or internet banking if you can't get the details, ie biller code and customer ref number, from the biller- Voodoofone."i cant even view my bill or current monthly usage on their website.. so how can i pay online if their site wont even work?? "
22 Dec 2010 08:40:27 PM: the biller codes etc are on the front page of your bill... most likely emailed to you..what an exaggerated post..
22 Dec 2010 08:48:22 PM: Go into a store and ask for a bill?
22 Dec 2010 10:53:08 PM: The effing bill he/she may not be able to access?
23 Dec 2010 07:11:50 AM: stores can print your bill for u, also you will recieve bills by email if you are not make sure a have the correct email address registerd on your account(again check in store). And if u have never recieved a bill did u click on the validation email????
23 Dec 2010 08:54:58 AM: I'll add that yesterday I did finally get the bill paid, but I told them up front the billing system was broken and they weren't to try to transfer me to it this time. They didn't sound the least bit surprised. For the record BPay isn't an option since it's a corporate credit card and a company phone I'm paying for. Seriously, how can one company have so much broken all at once? It shouldn't be this hard. Period.

Well having to go out in the rain to receive and make work calls is some what disappointing.

Thankfully i have a SIP client on my HTC so i can connect via my Wi-fi but what a joke. Wifes on Optus no issue, Telstra no issue just good old voda.

22 Dec 2010 11:11:04 AM: I have coverage upstairs, but in selected rooms only; or in the driveway...and up the back near the vege patch, otherwise no. Are we in the sticks? Not exactly, just 14km from Brisbane CBD. And in two spots on my commute I know where it will cut out like clockwork...genius network.

We are in a very metro area......on the sunny Gold Coast. All of a sudden, we can not get any 3G service. At All!!!! only Edge.......which in 2010 Metro is UNACCEPTABLE considering we are paying for 1.5 GB... 1.5GB of what, Vodacrap??????!!! If I had a legal out? Id be G.O.N.E..... id pay all the extra Telstra want.....
Vodafone???? I think not!! poor poor performance.......... even poorer service...... no offence to our Indian brother's and sister's..... but get a clue..... WE HATE VODAFONE.........
22 Dec 2010 09:29:15 PM: if you do not get reception you are welcome to leave the network. You do however, need to do teh troubleshooting which is time consuming but of course it needs to be done to break a contract that you asked for finance for (credit check) and signed into. It is advised that you try a pre paid service before signing into a 12/25 month contract

1372 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 20 out of 10!!!!! at 21 Dec 2010 05:39:02 PM
I USED TO WORK FOR VODA SO U MIGHT WANT SOME INSIDE STORIES

HERE IS THE GOSSIP...........
ANY new phone that everyone wants they keep for connecting new customers only. They do not give two hoots about existing customers. There are emails that have circulated saying, "if an existing customer walks in asking about iPhone 4, do not tell them that you have any instock unless they specifically ask for it. The ratio for selling iPhone 4 should be 70% to new customers and 30% to existing customers,' and im pretty sure that when iPhone 4 came out business rules from Apple said that first in best dressed. I wonder if Apple would keep selling iPhone 4 to Vodafone if they knew all the sneaky shit they did to gain new customers.
........ I wish I had copied a bunch of these emails before I left.
its great to get heaps of new customers to the point where you conjest your network (and trust me, it is f*@king conjested, there was meant to be a map coming out before i left about conjested areas so we did not connect people in those areas), have all of your existing customers kick up a stink about not being able to get what they want and pretty much have everyone on the network mad at you because of these issues.
Do you ever wonder why when you go into a store you are told you cant keep your pre-paid number??? it's because it doesnt count towards store bonus. poor s/c does all of that work and it doesnt go towards the store, then territory manager and store manager play hard arse and say, 'why didnt you do enough 'NEW" connections. you could have signed up 20 existing pre-paid customers to contracts which is how vodafone make their money (which they never fail to remind us) and it is not good enough. once my three plans are up with vodafone i will be changing. the amount of victimisation and WORKPLACE bullying that i have seen across so many stores across 2 states is unbelieveable. 3 legacy has taken over and it is disgraceful. once I have enough stories together i will be putting in a complaint to the employment onbudsman and passing on info to TIO because workwise and customer expectation wise it is not good enough
21 Dec 2010 05:44:30 PM: Clearly you haven't worked for them for a while, the whole thing about stock for existing customers doesn't exist any more. Siebel will not let anyone process an upgrade for iPhones, Samsung Galaxy or Desire HD's. It's got nothing to do with store level decisions.

Also if things were as bad as you say they were, why didn't you approach your TM or State Manager? Our TM has been pretty clear on the distribution of stock since day one. We've never been criticised for not making target, our SM doesn't "bully" us into making connects. So perhaps for a moment you might wake up to the fact that what happened to you does not mean it happens company wide.
21 Dec 2010 05:48:36 PM: The worst thing about Vodafone seems to be that they employ people like you. God that was horrible to read. I think that I'd rather talk to the Indian call center than deal with you.
YUCK.
21 Dec 2010 05:55:09 PM: I left 2 weeks ago and this was still the case in a lot of stores. obviously you havent seen the iPhone ratio thing. a territory manager left his email open and there was an email about the ratio thing for iPhone 4 customers sent from HO about what I was talking about.
21 Dec 2010 06:00:38 PM: and i myself was NOT bullied. I had great relationships with people and management that I worked with because I was 3-legacy. people who were voda legacy have had a really hard time. it's disgraceful. this in no way was about me it was about the company as a whole, what it has been reduced too and the level of service that the customers are getting and how people are being treated
21 Dec 2010 06:03:52 PM: Yeah what a stooge. Definitely not VHA staff culture.
21 Dec 2010 08:40:42 PM: Studies show the top five reasons why mergers fail were:

Badly planned and/or managed integration.

Focusing on the acquired business to the detriment of the existing business.

Minimising the degree and impact of human issues in the acquired business.

Losing key people in the acquired business.

Loss of productivity due to demotivated employees in the acquired business.

It is inevitable that when a business is acquired, things crawl out of the woodwork that weren%u2019t readily apparent when the business was acquired.

No matter how carefully due diligence was done prior to the acquisition, it is virtually impossible for it to discover everything about the culture, the products and services, the knowledge banks and the many other issues that need to be integrated.

Moreover in many cases the necessity to make an acquisition quickly can make it even more difficult to do detailed implementation plans before the event.

This makes it even more critical to develop and follow an objective implementation plan. But often implementation is seen as something that can be done by personnel from the acquiring company in addition to their normal tasks.

This can lead to implementation being relegated to a secondary task; to personnel from the acquiring company making invalid assumptions, doing insufficient research and making poor decisions based on limited understanding %u2013 which in turn leads to the aforementioned loss of key people, employee demotivation and often loss of customers of the acquired company.

21 Dec 2010 08:58:27 PM: Are you sure you weren't fired, because it sounds like you have a grudge? Also i am guessing you work for Telstra now..... and if you dont i'm sure you would fit right in!
21 Dec 2010 09:54:02 PM: Lol. No, I wasn't fired. I left on very good terms and I was told the door was always open for me if I wanted to come back. I have seen how the customers are lied to. I couldn't lie anymore.
22 Dec 2010 07:51:39 AM: Original poster: I think everyone who isnt on your side are probably managers or PR people trying to diffuse the situation. I completely agree with the connect thing i had the same issue (pre-paid to contract cant keep my number what?) HOWEVER every phone company does this so please people stop hating on the original poster because this is a vent site about how horrible vodafone are both with service and expectation setting. I am on your side original poster!
22 Dec 2010 05:22:48 PM: Thanks bud. Good point about every phone company doing dodgy things to sign people up. Got a mate on the inside who sent me the email. wonder if i should post it???
22 Dec 2010 09:25:13 PM: Upgrading customers get a direct line to order their iPhones, Samsung Galaxy or Desire HD's and are guaranteed a phone. New customers cannot go on a waiting list or oder them online because there is no stock. Upgrading customers also get a $30 credit for waiting. New customers do not get this. Loyal customers are looked after
23 Dec 2010 09:23:46 AM: 22 Dec 2010 11:25:13 PM poster... As i sit here at work i can hear my work colleague on the phone to VodaFail asking to upgrade. Wait time? 3-4 weeks. however if he just walked in to the store and signed a new contract he would get one right away. I would also like to point out that i believe this is the 4th time this week he has called the other 3 times he got disconnected or was on hold for 45 minutes.
23 Dec 2010 09:35:42 AM: You guys take selling phones a little too seriously...
23 Dec 2010 03:36:15 PM: Um...selling phones is a big responsibility (said in the voice of the old chinese guy in Gremlins)
24 Dec 2010 04:14:47 PM: 23 Dec 2010 11:23:46 AM poster: I find it odd how I read how people are spending 45 minutes waiting on a phone to connect to customer service and then when I call on their behalf (on the same number they use) while they are beside me I'm connected in 1 to 5 minutes.

1365 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ACCC fail at 21 Dec 2010 04:33:43 PM
I have periously posted my issues and have now spent time reading other peoples issues and the responses. For those of you supporting Vodafone and suggesting this is a minor issue, you are forgetting one important point and that is the ACCC is investigating and I believe Optus is taking legal action over another matter. Makes me think this is bigger than you might believe.
21 Dec 2010 04:35:45 PM: my typo above. Should read "I have previously"
21 Dec 2010 05:46:20 PM: The Optus legal action is over use of the word "Infinite", nothing to do with service. They just got their panties in a twist because they got dragged over the coals for their "Unlimited" plans previously. It's your basic Pot calling the Kettle Black scenario.
21 Dec 2010 06:20:24 PM: Yeah Optus are just having a sook.
22 Dec 2010 04:21:09 PM: read the news as optus LOST the court action and Vodafone can contiue as normal... get ya facts first before you make silly comments like this
22 Dec 2010 09:55:13 PM: Just so you know the chairman of the ACCC is actually BACKING Vodafone. Get a life and stop posting all this rubbish when none of you have no idea what you're talking about. 'Wah i'm on hold for 15 minutes and then I had to talk to an Indian' get the hell over it you pretentious pricks. Stop complaining about every little thing because the TV says you should, I bet you all love ACA and Today Tonight because you think you're getting the inside scoop. Well here's the dirty little secret, it's all a load of crap.
22 Dec 2010 11:00:57 PM: Come on somebody- dignify that previous comment with a response.
22 Dec 2010 11:11:35 PM: Haha some people are clearly brainwashed by Vodafone - or working for them and ignoring the issues. 15 minutes would be a remarkably short wait, try 2 hours to be transferred to a division that is closed. All the while listening to a radio with worse reception than a vodafone mobile.

Vodafone used to be the sole carrier in a couple of small countries near Australia until recently. The rates were sky high and customer and network issues ramapant. According to one 'Business', dealing with vodafone was like dealing with a mafia corner loan shark.

Until a new telco enterred the market. Since then, Vodafone has been begging customers to join them by offering them free mobile hand sets and special calls (compared to berating customers and giving no incentives. A business of 150 handsets was told to pay 'premium' price for 148 handsets and you get TWO handsets free, but call rates were going to be higher). It turned out the handsets models being given out are those with known technical issues. Long story short the new telco is still kicking Vodafone's ass like no tomorrow.

You were saying something Nigel??????
21 Dec 2010 12:52:21 PM: hows ya mum.....

Love Nigel

I lose calls from my customers
I lose calls from my family
I lose calls from my colleagues
and that is just the incomming calls
Outgoing calls are at least as bad!
Vodafone '3G' data does not even work and is more like 0G data along Gympie Road, Stafford Road, on the East-West Arterial Rd, Centenary Highway and other major roadways in Brisbane.
Their cells are deaf and far too overcrowded and I find that at least 20 times a day I cannot make an outgoing call!
I hope that Vodafone becomes a ghost town - they deserve it for promising and not delivering, for contracting and not providing, and in my personal opinion and experience, lieing and cheating it's business customers.
Is there a word that is worse than 'FAIL' ?
21 Dec 2010 10:22:51 PM: in a whisper, come closer............................."Vodafone"

26 minutes to load a web page on my prepaid broadband!!!! Thought I had contracted a virus. Messed for hours calling the call centre talking to idiots in Mumbai. Then dumping cookies, talking to others, getting a computer-docter in even though I have an I-Mac which are supposed to not get virus attacks and sure enough I found this site which proves Vodafail is the bloody reason!!!! Will always now stay with prepaid from herein and move from one Telco to the next. Not one of them deserves any loyalty.

ok well i get put on hold for a very long time like 40 minutes and i couldnt ring the 1555 number as that was not working so i called the 1300 number and then get told i will be charged for it after holding for 40 mins , and then i get put on hold through to section and section and still get no where , and then i get told to ring back on the 20th which i did but was on hold for 50 mins so gave up and will try again later , i need to sort out what i need to pay to cancel my contract or at least upgrade with no fee for the shit service im getting and pay for each month, im sick of talking to people that dont speak english and dont care !!! i pay $90.00 a month for god sake i should get some type of service with someone that cares !!! VODAFAIL alright
21 Dec 2010 12:57:20 PM: im sure they speak perfect english.. just have an accent!!
21 Dec 2010 01:11:12 PM: I find them extremely polite and pleasant to talk to.
21 Dec 2010 01:39:41 PM: they probably think the same about you accent hahaha
21 Dec 2010 06:59:36 PM: No need to get racist- If Voda the F*ck employed Scots speaking at a thousand miles an hour it would be worse, Jimmeh. And you'd be frightened they knew where you lived. (Just joking, Jimmeh)

22 Dec 2010 03:23:54 PM: Or, if you want true Australians, how about Tony(The Man) Mundine and all his family?
22 Dec 2010 09:26:26 PM: if you want to speak to an australian you can ask to be transfered to loyalty and retention
22 Dec 2010 09:26:49 PM: or alternatively get off your ass and go to a store
27 Dec 2010 07:52:20 AM: It is not racist to want to spend your money with a company that has staff you understand. No, they don't speak perfect English. No it is not just an accent. No it is not all Indian call centers - just the half baked discounted ones that VF use.

1266 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is the worst network in AU at 20 Dec 2010 10:16:53 PM
I've used Voda for over 5 years in Queensland. Like everyone else, I was initially sucked in by the cheap rates, and the old adage 'you get what you pay for' has never rung more true. Started with prepay, went onto a contract around 3 years ago. About 18 mths /2 yrs ago all the family's different Voda handsets started dropping calls more regularly, callers could hear us answering but we couldn't hear them, and calls we made were not dialing through (handset shows a call is in progress but she's all blank). Different handsets from LG, Motorola, Nokia, and differing locations. I went through the help desk scenario, talked to techies and CSRs, even got a call back from a team dedicated to making it appear they cared. All with the same result in that the network problems were recognized, & network fixes were either 'coming' or had been 'delayed'. Many times on hold, waiting. I ported my number to my land line provider with a new contract, but AAPT uses Voda's network to carry, stuck in the same boat (fool!). Done all the SIM resets, handset resets and tests. My work mobile is on Voda also, when it drops a call I immediately check my other phone to try making the call (Blackberry vs Nokia) and even though both show signal neither works = NETWORK PROBLEMS. I can be anywhere in the Brisbane Metro area. Coverage in Metro isn't so much the problem as Network availability. When it's not actually down, overloading is crowding out the slots available. It's not rocket science and they know all about it, no mystery. They just don't want to spend money fixing it, which means they don't give a toss about their customers. I know that not many Telco's do here in AU, but these pricks take the cake!! I am now going to force the issue and get the hell out. Well done...
22 Dec 2010 09:56:24 PM: ACTUALLY, the company has spent over 50 BILLION dollars this year alone on network upgrades. so stick that up your ass
27 Dec 2010 12:17:36 PM: wow all that money and such a CRAP NETWORK.. Someone needs to be fired.. (and nice attitude from an obvious VodaHO troll AS USUAL, just like their "Customer Service" or COMPLETE LACK OF..

VodaHO troll
27 Dec 2010 01:49:34 PM: 50 bil eh? Wow should have spent it on the network...oh snap! You could have built the nvm for less...ooops 50 bil? I don't think so...

1265 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Voda PHONY! at 20 Dec 2010 09:23:58 PM
Have to pay my monthly plan plus insurance for nothing! Cannot receive calls, cannot make calls, cannot get out of my contract. My husband was standing next to me and rang my number from his mobile(other Telco) and I never got the call and we live in Brisbnae - not on the moon!
22 Dec 2010 09:19:41 PM: there is obviosuly something wrong with either your handset or your sim card. by going into store you can get a replacement sim which is free of chanrge that can dramtically increase reception. The staff can also troubleshoot with u and if the service is deemed faulty you are of course free to break the contract.
