Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

I have just received the Building better network email and of course couldn't read it all. I clicked on the trouble viewing email button and of course it struggled to load. Typical fail from this bunch of cowboys!!!!!
Fantastic that they should tell us how good they are at fixing the problem without doing a thing.

18276 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Appalling! at 3 Jun 2011 07:31:36 PM
I have just received the "Building a better, faster, stronger network" from vodafone.
It was not explained to me at the time I purchased my iphone and contract that vodafone actually operated a very poor network that needed so much upgrading. In fact the coverage maps that were shown to indicated that the network's performance was competitive.
So its actually frustrating to receive these emails from vodafone in which they pat themselves on the back regarding the great job they are doing to fix up the shoddy mess that they created in the first place. I am not going to congratulate them for doing what should never have needed to be done in the first place.
Based on vodafone's own figures, its taken them at least 5 months to upgrade 530 sites. They also say 550 "new" sites are now operating on 850MHz. How many of these "new" 850MHz sites are one of the 530 sites that have been upgraded? To reach their target of 2500 sites by December, conservatively they will need to upgrade 1650 sites in under 6 months. In other words, based on their current rate of progress, they are not going fast enough and they are not going to achieve their target.
Ridiculous! I deleted my last email from them. Did anyone keep theirs? I suspect after all the hype, they are not making much progress. I am going to keep this one so I can compare their rate of progress over the coming months.

18254 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely Hopeless at 2 Jun 2011 08:41:10 PM
I can't believe how hopeless and useless my Vodafone Broadband Connection is. More like Vodafone Skinnyband Unconnection. It seems to have got worse this last week. I often can't load pages, or do anything very much. It came as a shock to me that I couldn't get ADSL in my area, I come from NZ where we have a much better system. I thought coming to Australia would be the same or better. I will have to copy this post before trying to send it as if the page times out (and I expect it to) I will lose this post. The connection works ok until around 5.15pm, when everything turns to custard. I have spent at least an hour and a half since then just trying to load pages. I am really just venting my frustration and the uselessness of this system. Vodafone is a huge multi-national conglomerate, you'd think they'd be able to pull their finger out and at least give us a reasonable connection, instead of stealing out money every month for a almost non-existant service.
18250 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Fail even for Three at 2 Jun 2011 04:38:23 PM
I have a three handset and naturally the stupid thing backs up to the vodafail network, not telstra like it used to. So naturally when I run out of three reception, my phone goes into fail mode and uses vodafail, naturally this is worse cause my phone THINKS its possible to use it BUT it keeps cutting out.
VODAFAIL where ever you are!!!!!
VODAFAIL where ever you are!!!!!
18247 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absurd at 2 Jun 2011 10:48:28 AM
really? someone responds to my email complaint by calling me, asking me what the problem was (that was detailed in the email) and then putting me on hold until I give up. Really?? That's the solution??
18246 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Cap Plan at 2 Jun 2011 10:37:54 AM

18244 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Robina Reception at 2 Jun 2011 08:01:53 AM
WTF is the point of vodafone having a blog on there website when they just ignore questions in regards towers and reception issues in Robina. Twice I asked an yet no answer. Just recently they shut down my business numbers due to insult to the Australian public by using poor Mumbai staff who have very basic english skills. my business was offline for 17 hours. Vodafone is on my hate list which includes murderers, terrorist welcome aboard Vodafone. The only reason I haven't left them yet is because I know my business would be offline longer then 17 hours, because lets be truthful, they don't care. Why doesn't the CEO of Vodafone just realize he has no ability to run Vodafone anymore. Nothing has really changed reception, data, voice all crap. Why have Vodafone Blogs, Facebook, when it seems they can only answer simply request like how to turn on your mobile phone. There weekly Network updates do not provide accurate information. I have personally proven that on two occasions. The Gold Coast have suffered long enough with Vodafone's crappy service, they claim they updated towers around the Coast but still within the suburbs I still suffer with only 0-2 bars reception on two mobiles. Maybe they use field mice to generate minimal amount of power to run these towers. For a global company one is got to ask why do they act and perform with the education of Homer Simpson. For all of the millons of dollars the Australian public has injected into Vodafone all we get is a dear John letter from Nigel saying sorry we screwed up. If we can all think back when Vodafone blamed a software update on there Network problems in the begining, and then stating they sat on there hands while the Network was getting full, but yet all those millons of dollars weren't used to extend there network. One can only think that it was used as a marketing tool to put the brand name on everything they can think of in sports, so is Vodafone a Telco or is it an advertising company that just took us Australian's as fools to fuel there greed to take over the world with there symbol. Kind of reminds me of Hitler and the red Nazi symbol. mmmmmmmmmm?????
5 Jun 2011 12:16:31 AM: all i can say is the network was ok till the days when we talk to customer service in another country, to foreign people who cant speak english and most of the time do not understand what we are saying, we should employ aussies that can talk our lingo and understand what problems we are having and not give us a feeling that we are 4th class citizens with a 5th class network, CEO VODAFONE ARE YOU STUPID ?. i am vodagoing when the vodaCONtract is finished. I now see THREE STORES replaced with VODAFOONE in most WESTFIELD SHOPPING CENTRE COMPLEXES. I HOPE VO-DOH-DOH-FAIL will one day see that, we the customers are always right and will go elsewhere and will never comeback.
8 Jun 2011 11:11:40 PM: why does vodafone have such a problem understanding that we ARE NOT HAPPY with the network, it was reliable up to around 20 months ago and then the reception/internet/dropouts/no coverage in places where there was and has not ever come back with coverage in the same area. we have better things other than complain, SO LISTEN TO US NIGEL. NOT HAPPY NIGEL
18230 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgusting at 1 Jun 2011 10:56:19 AM
I recently cancelled my mobile service with Vodafone, but continued my $49.95/month 5GB broadband connection. I recently received a bill to the total of $10,208.03 for 'plan adjustments'. I phoned to find out what the issue is, and after a week a being told 'we are still investigating' I have reached an end to the frustration, opting to vent on this site.
Clearly another Vodafone FAIL.

Takes literally 2min to open up any website in Brissie, how can they still hold a telecommunications license or keep people on a contract when they can't actually provide a service?
honestly are we Aussies as a nation this fucking dumb or wtf ?!?! this company is screwing us ... actually they are raping us
wtf i really want the gov to step in and take their license away

1 Jun 2011 03:36:53 AM: There needs to be a solid push to force Governments to do their bloody job and act. Vodafone is clearly struggling to provide an acceptable level of service to its existing customer base with continued network, bandwidth and coverage issues in urban areas. They need to have their telecommunications license suspended, preventing them from signing up new customers until their existing issues are resolved. If you own a taxi or a bus, if it's pulled up by transport and a defect found, it's put off the road until the defect is fixed. Likewise, telecommunications infrastructure is not a toy, but an essential service people and business rely on, yet we have no such regulations for telcos to have a minimum standard, or level of service.
These kinds of problems will only increase with the number of smartphones being used increasing steadily. There seems to be this Aussie mind-set that you can just keep on raking in the dollars, get more customers, make more profit without expanding infrastructure along with customer growth. The Aussie way of life isn't just restricted to telcos, particularly Vodafone and Optus, but Governments as well. The population grows, and along with it, the revenue base from direct and indirect taxes, yet investment back into infrastructure, such as roads, hospitals, electricity grid capacity and such lags way behind. What is is about Australia? Is this place just retarded, inhabited by morons or something? Must be, try to get a tradesman to arrive on time, for example. Seems to be the case when governments then make promises, break them, and still get re-elected (with one notable exception being the last NSW state election, a slight glimmer of hope Aussies might be waking up to reality, wither that or multiculturism is raising the state's IQ since the vast majority of immigrants arrive through Sydney).

18211 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely Pathetic at 31 May 2011 01:04:58 PM
No 3G service in Robina, this is absolutely pathetic, doing a SendOutCards presentation to a couple of very important prospects, how embarrassing for Vodafone, one of my prospects saved the day pulling out an oversized Telstra NextG USB stick, back up and running. He said he wouldn't use Vodafone even if they paid him, it's the most pathetic network of them all.
1 Jun 2011 03:53:54 AM: posted yesterday service was restored around 5:45pm - about 5 hours later. Why was there a need to remove that post? People visiting the website deserve to know the truth rather than reading about network issues and outages and nothing about when service was restored. My Vodafone 3G's been working fine ever since, although I'm curious as to what caused the outage, especially considering I've been getting a solid 3-4 bars of coverage, now I'm getting a solid 2 bars of signal, occasionally dropping back briefly to a single bar. Had a big angry rant to Vodafone customer support yesterday, after waiting 6 minutes, first call got me nowhere, talking to some indian sounding person, second call I gave up after 10 min and waited until later before calling back and demanded to speak with a supervisor. Is their entire customer service center located in India or something? I basically pointed out to the supervisor that I would like a credit of some kind against my bill as a good-will gesture, she said she's not able to do that, I pointed out that I'm not a happy chappy and that I was angry as hell not having service for the best part of an entire afternoon, that I am a global networker, network marketer, have over 17'000 fans on my FB fan page (and gave her the FB page address), and unless I got some kind of credit against my account, I would do everything in my power to defame the company on the internet left right and center, my Facebook page being just the tip of the iceberg, with automated blog posts and such. I was put on hold for about two minutes, she said the best they can do is give a $60 credit against my account, and 4Gb has been added to my account.
Being Mr. Nice guy gets you nowhere. You have to push and shove hard and lay the cards on the table to get results.

No 3G coverage at the moment in Surfers Paradise... so so so so so sick and tired of having to switch my iPhone on and off just to use it! Also no Voicemail right now!
1 Jun 2011 03:58:39 AM: what time did service get restored to normal over in Surfers? Here at Robina it was back up around 5:45pm - posted same yesterday but the post was removed. Just curious, seems the outage wasn't a single base station or something but a wider issue. My daughter was over with a friend over at Bundall, she wasn't able to access Vodafone 3G for the best part of the afternoon either. An associate of mine living at Palm Beach said he had no problems in that area, reckons 3G was working "as usual"...

My phone seems to fluctuate between barely there reception coverage to "Searching" and then there's the "No Network" message where the little bars ought to be.
Having a Smart Phone, the ability to access a data network has become increasingly necassary with the syncing of emails, etc and yet when the coverage is switched to "Roaming", often in the CBD or close surrounds of Brisban and Sydney, I am charged more for something I would consider a standard, not a privilege.
Representatives informed me that it's the fault of the phone, not the network yet this was never mentioned AT ALL when I renewed my contract over 12 months ago.
Besides, should they not be keeping up with the changing requirements of the industry and their customers, not belitlling us and telling us nothing can be done?!
I am now undertaking measures to get myself out of my contract which has several months left but one more week with these guys is far too long!

18184 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is What Data??? at 30 May 2011 10:00:23 AM
I've just been billed $143.00 for date usage that I have definitely not accessed. On one day that I have apparently downloaded 8Mb of data in a 5 hour period I was on a boat fishing and my phone was back at the unit I was staying at. I didnt have the phone with me....how is it possible that I was downloading data. If this sort of thing is possible, they (Vodafail) can have their IP4 back and shove it up their collective arrongant arses. Back to basics for me
18183 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is VODAFAIL at 30 May 2011 12:41:28 AM
okay.. I am an international student from Asia. I came to Brisbane just before the flooding happened so thankly I managed to get a VODAFAIL (at that time I didn't know) prepaid SIM card and a phone... but for some reason, I could not activate my SIM through online activation system... then flooding happened and I had to evacuate... I was desperate to contact my parents to say that I am okay but this stupid activation system did not work by either internet or phone. I actually had to wait for another week to visit the Voda store to activate my SIM. The story does not end here. I live in Brisbane CBD but I've been constantly getting call drop outs, delayed messages, no reception, etc etc... Since, I am a prepaid customer, I didn't want to waste my time arguing with Vodafail so I just bought Optus phone..but seriously, this kinda sh$$ doesn't even happen in my original country. I mean how the heck the company like Vodafone is still doing the business and Australian legal system or watever is not enforcing any restrictions?? my girlfriend is using a Vodafone as well and once, she was billed $600. At that time, she and I just thought she used hell alot of calls but I will definitely tell her about all the stories told by many customers on this site... cheers

I applied for a pocket wifi plan $39 in a store and they have a promo 50% for 3 months. So when I got my first bill, I was billed in full so I wonder why the promo did not happen, then I rang them and the Indian guy told me that wait for 4 months sir cause it will be deducted on your fourth month bill. ok I waited for 4 months, then 4th comes but still no discount were found in my bill so I rang them again. this time an Indian girl and now telling me that they don't have promo during that time WTF. I told her that I called on my 1st month but the Indian guy told me that it will be credited in my 4th month but its not happening. So I decided to cut-off my connection. Be careful on any promo from Vodafone cause its not true.

1 Jun 2011 03:25:23 AM: The two could quite possibly be related. Surely if it's fraud, the offenders should be relatively easy to pin point by following the money trail. If your credit card has been debited by a frauster, whether at Vodafone or outside of the company, if the transaction is shown as "Vodafone Tullamarine" then funds will have been debited from your credit card, credited to "Vodafone Tullamarine", then if the funds have been transferred on to somewhere else, follow the money trail. Note also banks log IP's each time you initiate an internet banking session of any kind.
The whole Vodafone saga seems fishy to me, the company should have its telecommunications license suspended until they are capable of providing an acceptable level of service to its existing client base before being allowed to sign up more customers.

They say everytime i call that they are looking into it and will call me within 10 days but never do. I have been told a credit has been put onto my account but keep getting bills with that first amount owing. I cannot put my frustration with this into words i feel like hitting a punching bag!! Finally got out of my contract, without any EXIT FEES! (had 14 out of 24months to go)as they can no longer provide a phone and network that actually works.
Week in week out, the same petty excuses, 'we will replace the phone, upgrade you to a better plan, give you free credits' etc, etc (just like a cheating partner), couldn't take it any longer, I had to leave them.
Poor service in Mackay, calls drop out, you know all the usual stuff.
VODAFAIL WILL NOT IMPROVE THEIR SERVICE IN THE BIG CITIES, what hope do we all have in regional areas?? None. Time to go to another provider. Thanks

As most of you seem to know, their data network is totally crap - I actually purchased a telstra dongle three months so I could read email. So I rang the 1555 BS line and got some clown who advised me my push data was sending me over the limit. I explained to him I was not a nutbag; there is no way I am going to use 2GB of data in ONE DAY over there absolutely crap data network.... he was not buying, so I lost it. I have put up with a crap data connection for 12 months (half way through the 24 months contract)... I am really time poor, so I put up with it, with some help from (my now great friends) Telstra. Today blew my mind - this guy treated me like an imbecile.... the offered a $100 discount (ie go away and let's forget about it all). I went and logged with TIO.... these idiots can GO AND GET STUFFED!
18089 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is How to get a refund/credit at 22 May 2011 08:26:45 PM
Voda have upgraded their voicemail and you now have to ring their voicemail to check your messages as most of us can't get ringing alert to work properly to phone us with our new voice messages. Everytime you call voicemail they charge you a flagfall plus call costs (at least $1 a time).
THis adds up to big $$$ that Voda is ripping us all off for on purpose.
Therefore call Billing Dept and get a refund. I did. They offered me 100% credit on my plan cost for 3 months...then on my next complaint call a few days later they credited my a/c with another $20.
If everyone demands a refund/credit they will have to get of their arses and fix their problems properly.

18088 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Voda scam...beware! at 22 May 2011 08:22:33 PM
Vodafone have buggered up their new voicemail system so that ringing alert for many people does not work. That forces you to ring to check for messages, which of course costs you about 80c to $1.50 everytime you check depending on howe long you take. This cost isn't covered in the infinity plans so its a trap that we'll all be paying for on our monthly accounts.
I believe this is intentional to get more money from us to pay for their lost customers who have seen the light and left Vodafone. Beware. Ring their billing department and get a refund.

18087 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I'm Gone!! at 22 May 2011 08:17:06 PM
After tolerating atrocious coverage/reception with Vodafone for 2 years since I moved to my new home in a Brisbane southwestern suburb I now find their new voicemail system isn't working properly either. I spent nearly 3 hours on the phone to them on 4 separate calls last weekend and its not fixed...and another 4 hours on 4 or 5 calls this weekend.
Now I am told the coverage issue isn't going to be fixed in my area either....no work is planned.
So, sorry Vodafone....but chase me for my $$$. I'm off to the local Telstra and Optus stores on Monday to see who can give me the best deal. Vodafone can take a flying f#*k. I'm gone...and I suspect a large chuck of their new clients will be pulling out too when they realise what a mistake they've made by hooking up with Vodafone.

18084 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Coverage is awful at 22 May 2011 08:10:26 PM
I live in a built-up suburb 16.5kms from teh Brisbane CBD and can only get what Voda describe as "Outdoor coverage"....which means they don;t guarantee reception inside.
As I run a business I find this pretty unacceptable. This wasn't disclosed when we signed up on their plans of course.
They have offered credits on my account to appease me but what I'd really like them to do is bloody fix the problem...and they tell me there are no planned upgrades for my area at this time. Fan...bloody....tastic!! Tossers!
I cannot believe the arrogance of the top echelon at Voda Australia with an attitude like that. They have the money to upgrade their voicemail platform (which as far as I'm concerned was working perfectly and now is completely stuffed) while they ignore reception and coverage issues. I hope the board of directors sack the lot of them and get a management team who really know how to deliver service and quality.
Interestingly, sometimes I have 4 aerial bars (full reception) on my phone then it drops off to one or two (or none) within a couple of minutes even though I haven't moved. Its like the signal is wavering everywhere. My poor neighbour is seen discussing hois business with the world while he sits on his front fence in order to get reception....Yep, he;s with Voda too....Bloody unbelieveable!

18083 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Totally stuffed voicemail at 22 May 2011 08:00:26 PM
Since the knuckleheads at Vidafone decided that they needed to alter their voicemail system my wife & I cannot get their voicemail ringing alert to work. This service is precisely why we changed to Vodafone some time ago as we are real estate agents and are constantly turning our phojhes off & onn when in meetings and we need the ring alert when we turn our phones back on to tell us our messages. We are on the infinite plan and dialling into Voda voicemail to check messages costs about $1 per time with flagfall and call costs. We probabpy check messages 7 or 8 times a day on average so imagine the monthly cost of that.
Despite over a week of investigation they haven't been able to fix the problem.
I am SOOOO over vodafone I am considering leaving and simply not paying their bills but I realsie that will only cause my credit rating to be impacted.
I just wish I could actually speak to someone in a senoir position in Australia instead of getting indian call centre people all the time (as nice and polite as they are I'm just not getting the problem resolved).

21 May 2011 03:39:09 PM: Your mother needs to go to the TIO as soon as possible with the disputed amount and evidence, simple procedure, can take less than 10 minutes to complete their on line form..
The TIO apparently 'suspends' the disputed amount whilst an investigation is being performed.
Also it is worth mentioning that your mother is being harassed by an apparent Vodafail employee.
The TIO will ensure that a Vodafail representative, I believe from the Vodafail resolutions team, will contact your mother in 10 working days and try to negotiate a mutually agreed solution.
I suggest that you discuss the best result and fall back positions with your mother prior to the call.
The TIO details may be found under the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I don't have signal at uni or when I go shopping at certain shopping centres. My phone also decides not to recieve or send messages as well as delete them as it pleases. For the first 3 months my 3G didn't work and no one could help me, everytime I went in for assistance they would just turn the phone off rub my sim card and say that should be fine now. Massive fail.

They seem to have restricted my pre-paid internet to the GPRS network with no explanation as to why. What am I supposed to do with that? Worse than waiting for a dial-up connection. Definitely gonna be pulverising this thing with a hammer when I finally get my fixed line internet installed.

Same as everyone, Calls drop out, Delayed voicemails, Dont even receieve texts from people alot of the time and worst of all SLOWEST POSSIBLE INTERNET AND NEVER HAVE RECEPTION!!!
I went into a shop after numerous complaints over the phone not getting me anywhere, So they tell me its the sim I have in my phone that is the reason for my extremely low reception (I LIVE IN THE CITY PRETTY MUCH - RECEPTION MOSTLY 1 OR 2 BARS IF IM LUCKY) anyhow, they replace my sim and I get full reception for about 2 weeks and then no doubt after that its back to its usual 1 or 2 bars, I'm pretty much to the point where I am under the impression that I will suffer from these issues for the rest of my contract, This website has made me realize otherwise.

I am moving to Blackall QLd which is in the 4 percent non coverage zone. I called vodafone to cancel the contract as I did not want to be paying for a service I could not use. They informed me that there was nothing they could do for me except change my plan from a $79 cap to a $49 dollar cap!!! So in other words I will still be paying them $49 each month for nothing!! they said its not a question of what is fair or not but that is all they can do. Yet another failure from vodafone!!! Just another example of their customers being charged for a service they can never use.
18009 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ruined holiday at 17 May 2011 02:38:56 PM
I just wanted to relate our experience when holidaying in Tasmania for 10 days in Feb 2010. We had planned a trip travelling around Tasmania starting down in Port Arthur and travelling in a clockwise direction visiting Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mountain, Tamar Valley, Launceston (Country club), Bridport and Bicheno. When planning the holiday, the contact number I had given for all our accomodation was my Vodafone mobile number. We also had our laptop with Vodafone wireless internet (dongle). Apart from in Hobart, we had no reception for either device throughout the trip. This caused us a lot of stress and actually cost us financially as we were unable to purchase any excess baggage online (we had our golf clubs). My partner contacted Vodafone using his Telstra mobile whilst we were in Bicheno to ascertain if there was any coverage in Bicheno at all(so that we could go online to arrange excess baggage) and they were not able to assist us at all, in fact they were of no help what so ever and offered no apologies or compensation for they lack of coverage throughout our trip. They just kept insisting that their computers told us there was coverage. When we requested to speak to someone in Australia as we had been speaking to an Indian call centre operator who didn't even know where Tasmania was, we were told that it was not possible. Naturally was very aggravating and upsetting. We never received any follow up from Vodafone regarding the complaint lodged during this 45 minute call.

I bought a phone from a chain store and was set with Vodaphone, i was with them once before and thought they were okay so i gave them another go. I'd only had my phone for 3 months when i could no longer recieve calls or texts, this went on for three weeks. I had no idea why? I had perfect coverage having all bars up. This affected my social and work life not being able to recieve calls or texts. I recently decided to cut all ties and changed providers!! Very dissapointed Vodafail.

17973 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 15 May 2011 08:23:41 PM
For yet another time and time again Vodafone has failed to deliver sms sent from my g/f from her Vodafone mobile. Multiple times! When she finally calls me and is very annoyed that I haven't replied and blames me all the time about messages that were never delivered to me. Vodafone, this is blatantly unnaceptable! The worst part is that you charge for these sms that never make it to me. I feel like throwing my useless phone against a wall. If this was any other business you would be sued and out of business in a heart beat. FALSE advertising and an absolute JOKE of a network, if you can even call it that.
And a word for your "customer service" people. Speaking to a computer... DOES NOT WORK and when you finally get to talk to a human that can't help, then what is the point? A total waste of time.

17959 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Warning New 10.1 Tablet at 14 May 2011 05:29:35 PM
Some bright spark at Vodafone has decided that they will charge per megabyte blocks for data on the new 10.1 Tablet. Which means for the average user where 1 or 2 gig would do they will now require 5 to 10 gig. So 1 gig on the new Tablet is not the same as 1 gig data on any other plan. Cannot really complain because it is in the Terms, but many may not realize the consequences.

17951 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing, Coverage deceit at 14 May 2011 08:59:54 AM
Well, Vodafone has fecking done it again. First up I got a Vodafone account and mostly it was fine except for patchy coverage away from major centres. Then in 2007 my wife got critically ill and for convenience, I got a broadband link from them after I was promised that where we lived was covered. We weren't! Oh, it's coming soon. It didn't. I hung in because there is phone mast was near us and we got good excellent signal, just no data. Two years later at end of contract I cancelled the broadband dongle. I upgraded to a Voda Legend and guess what even the local mast phone signal went down. Still no data as promised again. Called thier accounts to cancel the data and they wanted to charge me cancellation even though they didn't supply the service as promised. After a heated argument the accounts manager relented and said that they would cancel the data link and give us a rebate of $50. Guess what? No canceled data. No $50 rebate (which would have covered last months bill) and now I get an overdue charge of $15.
The only relief I'm going to get is to cancel, pay Vodafone out and hope the pain eventually goes away.
Vodafone! Forget it.

At home, there is no 3G network and 2 bars 2G network. At company, there is completely no signal at all, 3G, 2G...I called them 3 times and they give me the same reason: "network upgrading". They offered me 3 discount months on my bill for me and my wife. After a week, I couldn't stand on that problem any more and call them again. They transfered me back to 3 and hope I can use 3 network like before. I just worry 3 network getting worst after Vodafone took over. after 10 or so days they haven't called me back. then my phone starts showing 'no service'. i check the website to see if there has been yet-another-coverage-fault but it seems not. i call them up and discover that they have disconnected my number. without telling me.
it turns out that they agreed to cancel my contract for free and waive all payout fees. yay. but they never called me to tell me about this. they also decided to disconnect my number without calling me.
now i am stuck in no man's land without a vodafone service and without the ability to port my number somewhere else. four separate vodafone people have told me they will reconnect my service ASAP but so far it has been 36hrs and nothing has been done.

17911 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Massive Fail. at 12 May 2011 07:35:17 AM
I have used Vodafone's Prepaid Mobile Broadband for quite some time now and have always suffered one small problem or another. More recently though, perhaps the last 3 months, I have had significant trouble connecting to the internet, and when I finally get a proper connection, I get a screen message saying 'Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage'. As you can imagine, this has become increasingly frustrating. What used to take me a few minutes each morning, (ie; checking emails, facebook, banks)now takes me most of the day, and I continually have to log off the internet and hope I can log back on in order to perhaps do anything online. I'm concerned because when I log on to secure websites such as my bank, when I try to log out, my browser displays the above message and I cant be sure whether or not I have been logged out correctly. This whole situation is making me quite angry.
My other gripe with this is that for the amount of money I pay each month for such a crappy service and so little download allowance, I could be with a better company, on a plan, with more benefits for alot less money each month, which would include my home phone and mobile. On top of this, once I connect to the internet, but cant display webpages, it still appears to consume some of my allowed download and I'm not getting a decent service for what I pay for.
I'm quite tired of this dodgy service and if it is not improved by Vodafone, I will be tranferring my service to someone else. Vodafone, it's just not good enough.

12 May 2011 10:16:29 AM: I am having exactly the same issue! On top of this the cord that connects to my pocketwifi has broken AGAIN (3rd time in 6 months). Last time they made me purchase a new one ($25, not the $5 that they told me it would cost!). The reason it keeps breaking? My dodgy service means I have to stretch my cord up to reach shelves and even sit on top of my monitor so that I can get even the tiniest signal, so ridiculous! Now I'm asking them for a new cord and a discount due to crappy service, we'll see what happens, if not I will be looking for a new provider!
13 May 2011 10:52:47 AM: You can actually buy the required cord in lengths of 5, 10 or 20m. Don't let Vodafail make you buy one off them- cgo to your local computer store, show them the cable you have that is too short for your purposes and they'll be able to hook you up with a much longer one for a fraction of the price Vodafail would charge you.

I have 3G on my iPhone 3GS but it dropped off my first gen iPad 3G mid morning and nothing can bring it back. As soon as they bought 3 it all went to shiz. It used to be the best in Australia... what the heck happened? No one can tell me how to fix the problem.
12 May 2011 03:58:28 PM: Selling too many smartphones to too many people is basically what happened.
Ironically 3's network is actually not quite as bad, (it's still separate for now) will be an amusing day when they all get cut over onto Voda.

I am sick of vodaphone. My calls are constantly doping out of reception and failing half way through calls. I was on hold for 1.5 hours to another company and my call just failed. Half of the time I can not send txts nor receive them, It takes forever to retrieve my voice mails and not to mention the personal info of its customers being leaked on the net in January including names, addresses and credit card details. This is an outrage. I currently have 18 months left on my contract and am desperately wanting to be released from it. I will even give my iphone 4 back. There has got to be a security breach from them. Is there anyone out there who has been released from there contract that can give me any info on how to get out of mine????

Last year at some stage I was getting no signal at times in Cairns & from there on the failure rate increased. I found out 3 was bought by vodafail and all calls to 3 care assure me it has nothing to do with that? To get out of contract they want me to pay an exit fee!! I am paying for nothing now so I guess they figure I'll pay to say good bye? I wish for a simple life.....alas technology has me waisting more time chasing my tail!

We have 4 phone p;us an internet USB stick that we can not use. The internet is not available and we are paying for this monthly but have not used it since August last year. Our phones constantly drop out, have no service and cut out when in the middle of phone calls. Also over charges for incorrect calls and even charged for 1-2sec intervels even when the calls never connect or call out.

I live in Port Douglas FNQ and vodafone reception here has always been extremely lame ever since i moved here a decade ago. I was assured by the vodafone rep that after they had upgraded the network to 3G i would have reception pretty much everywhere. This is so far from the truth that it may as well be on Mars. If anything the reception is worse. Half the time i try to make calls i get a 'connection failed ' message , texts take several hours to get to me and there are at least 5 major reception 'black holes' within the space of a few km's from the town centre. When i called vodafone to report it they proceeded to 'check' the reception in my area and then informed me that it was fine and there was nothing they could do. Bollocks. I have had enuf.
10 May 2011 11:58:37 AM: Lodge a complaint with Vodafone customer service (hopefully it doesn't take long to get through to them) and let them know. If you're service isn't working half the time then why should you pay the full amount? Goodluck and no need to be silent to vodafone about the problems you're having.

Go's from 4 bars of service to no service in the same location. No service anywhere in the coalfields inland from Mackay.Have to complained to them several times but nothing resolved. I work in the Brisbane CBD.
Vodaphone just tried to call me with an automated message, but due to their own inadequacy, the call was dropped by its own network and went to voicemail. The message took several minutes to download and then i played it, the message got so far as saying it was from vodaphone before the signal cut out and the message ended. Hence I now know that vodaphone felt something was important enough to warrant calling me, but have no idea what that is. I hate and resent this network beyond the scope of allowed language allows me to portray. I will leave this plan at the earliest possible opportunity.

Complained to local store, was told Vodafone working on tower for last 6 weeks (sure, give me a break), said have had problem since signing with Vodafone months ago. The supposedly "free" Vodafone "helpline" has NEVER worked. Have to pay for all calls to Vodafone. Not Satisfactory. False advertising. Was again told by local Vodafone store that I can go on the complaints list (I said I had complained on this list months ago). Shocking network, extremely poor customer service, I want out. The usual story. Unfortunately I have both a mobile phone contract and wireless USB stick with them. On the phone it's dropped calls, no reception, messages not sending despite apparently having reception. With internet, despite being in a capital city, it's terribly slow if it chooses to work. Sometimes it only is available in the corner of my courtyard with the computer held up above my head...not really conducive for use!
It's annoying, yes. But it's also incredibly unsafe.

I live 6kms from the Brisbane CBD. I would estimate that 50% - 60% of calls either made or received, will drop out. I work for myself and have an office under my house. My phone iPhone4) does not receive a signal when I'm in my office. If I walk up the stairs onto the deck I get a signal, as I'm in line of sight of the Vodaphone tower on the corner of Cracknell and Ipswich Road in Annerley. This is pretty annoying.
I primarily use my phone for business and constant drop outs, plus not being ably to use my phone in front of my desktop computer, do not give my business a good look.
The real kicker is that Vodaphone beleive they have this issue solved - they don't

Got an iphone from vodafail on upgrade from existing plan, thought my old phone was faulty. Turns out it was vodafail and their so called network. Brought in the TIO and got released from my contract by vodafail, or so I thought. They received the iphone handset on 3rd of March. Sent them an email from myvodafone and got prorata bill for the time I had the handset which I thought was somewhat fair but never got a reply. Then just recently got a new bill for a new month with an overdue amount, lost my rag and rang them. Asked them if they had received the phone which I knew they had coz I had Auspost tracking number. They confirmed it and said i would be disconnected in 3 to 5 working days. Also asked why they didnt disconnect as I didnt have the phone but they did, did they think I liked having no handset but an active service? They said they werent sure if I wanted to be disconnected even though I photocopied the letter they sent me and included with the handset when I returned it. That was 2 weeks ago. Rang my old number yesterday and yep, there is my voice on the voicemail. This company sets new low standards for customer service. Back in the hands of the TIO again *sigh*. So very glad I never gave them bank details to take my money at their convenience.

Just had another period of "wont send an SMS for no apparent reason". Sick and tired of constant issues with vodafail. Every day I get "unable to connect to network" messages, despite my reception indicator being mid to high. Most notable was having an issue where my voicemail was out by an hour during daylight savings, and despite me telling 3 different tech support agents exactly what setting they had to adjust for me (having worked for another telco provider earlier in my career I could tell them the Home MSA needed to be corrected from Sydney to Brisbane) they insisted that it was my iphone causing the issue, talking me through the settings twice (once again despite me advising this had already been done by the previous person and found to be useless). I submitted two complaints via the website, the second of which asked for a supervisor to contact me as I was getting nowhere, and had both closed asking me to call, despite there being wait times of over an hour on the helpdesk. Considering I am in the market to upgrade both my wifes and my phones at present, voda is doing everything in their power to push me to another carrier. Very Very disgruntled customer.

Yesterday afternoon and last night, for at least 6 hours, I could not receive or make any phone calls at all. My text, internet and email were all working, albeit slowly. I had 2 vodafone phones at my disposal and neither worked for calls, at all.
Not only was I unable to make and receive calls, to anyone, anywhere, my incoming calls were variously directed to my voicemail or just beeping out entirely. No missed or received calls were registered of course, so I would have had no idea who was trying to get through. I know for a fact that at least 3 voicemails were left for me yesterday, between midday and midnight - and yet I still have not received them at 9.45 am this morning.
As I was home alone, and I have no home phone, this was a COMPLETELY unacceptable state of affairs - if there had been an emergency, what could I have done??? No phone calls, from 2 phones.
I have taken screenshots of attempts to call out, and call failures, over a few hours period. Reception bars are fine, no problems there apparently...
This happens regularly to me, probably more regularly than I even realise as there is no outward indication that it's even occuring. I am usually informed by text from my partner that he can't get through to my phone, yet again...
So so so unacceptable Vodafail. I will be trying to terminate my contract for breach - I suppose I have to wait for my phone to start working again before I can call Vodafone though, convenient.

3 May 2011 05:46:29 PM: we should be recruiting volunteers to hang around near these stores to warn potential customers about Vodafone's woes - these dealers and Vodafone are aggressively marketing themselves to gain more customers, they're struggling to provide a decent level of service to current customers, the last thing we need is more problems.

5 May 2011 03:06:11 AM: You haven't really provided much information here.
Just requesting a refund or discount doesn't sound very reasonable. Were you facing issues to justify this? Have you reported the issues to Customer Care who are the correct team to deal with technical and billing issues?
Retail stores cannot apply credits to your account or give you discounts. Otherwise they would be even more flooded than they already are. And you said your bill was due so if you had any issues, why would you leave it until weeks after you received the bill?

Just before easter on my way to work the car broke down, and I was out of credit (prepay) on vodafail, I attempted to recharge using my credit card option, twice (which took forever before I gave up) only getting a "sorry we're having a technical difficulty processing your transaction..." forcing me to have to walk to a gas station to purchase a recharge. All's well so I thought making my needed calls until I got home and checked my bank account details to find that Vodafail have also put in a "Pending transaction" for the attempted Credit card recharge that didn't work. Well its just gone through and I'm obviously not happy about being charged for something that I didn't get. Have just had the bank send a dispute to vodafail to get my money back, and I'm wondering if I'll have any credit left, I wouldn't surprise me if I have all my credit taken. The only thing stopping me from changing carriers is that I'm going through all my numbers and putting them on the phone from the sim card, then a long call to my sis in nz to use up what I've paid for, and then I'm off to Amaysim... I'm going to enjoy smashing that sim card up.

I live in Cairns where Vodafail barely exists.
After many agonising months of calls and emails, I finally was able to end my contract with no exit fees and return my handset. So I thought, all good, right. Wrong!!!
I have since discovered that Vodafail have taken over $1000 out of my account because they havent recieved the iphone. To be completely honoest here, I had forgot all about it and its been sitting in a drawer.
Now since this has happened, it has put my account into the red, all my direct debits are now being dishonoured (not my banks fault, for once) and its really stuffing up my credit rating.
When I have contacted them, they tell me that it will take some time to work this out and that they sent the bag over a month ago. I doubt this very much.
After I tell them that I find it unacceptable, they then want a bank statement to prove that they took my money in the first place.
I have contacted the TIO who are now getting involved.
If anyone ever thinks that Vodafails deals are too good to be true. Well, its because they are. They give you something, but take sooooo much more.

I'm supposed to have free text today, Sunday 1st May.....I tried to send a text but was told, NO, I have insufficient credit!!! fer f*** sake!!!
So I rang the number they gave me on the website. Not only does it NOT have the automated choice of the problem I have, they have told me to ring back TOMORROW!!!
I think tomorrow, I'll be going to another provider....
