Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

17595 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is REJECT grade for quality at 1 May 2011 08:13:47 AM
I have been on VodaFail for one week with a new Nokia N8. I churned to them from 3 and a Nokia E63. I now regret that move. The Nokia E63 on 3 worked everywhere for me. I churned, only because of the offer of a particular plan that suits my one man business. The New Nokia N8 is not as good as other phones in week signal areas. It lack sensitivity. This, combined with VodaFail's poor signal coverage is a bad combination. For example, at my home office (on ground floor) in Macgregor QLD 4109 (10km south of Brisbane CBD) I can have a 6 bar signal strength showing and I start a new phone call. During the call, the signal strength will creep down to one bar and even no bar indication. Of course, the person I call will complain to me before this droput that they cannot hear me and also I sound distorted. I have now discovered that I can (mostly) have a successful call if I go upstairs and stand near an open window. I have never had these problems with other phone/service provider combinations over 10 years at this location. I have reported this to VodaFail. First, I tried to send a message to their Support from their own web page. That was an EPIC fail, since the SUBMIT button ... did not. So, I phoned them. I was passed around to a number of people / departments. Eventually, I ended up with a polite person who was in another country. I was making this call outside the house, in the middle of the street, trying to catch a useable signal. Eventually, the process required the Nokia N8 to be rebooted & settings changed, so he called me back on a landline. He taked me through the process. Finally, we arrived at the point in his trouble-shooting where nothing at fault had been found, and his next remedy was the restore to Factory Settings. He gave me the detailed instructions on how to do this, since I first needed to backup the memory, and said he was logging me to receive a 50% rebate on my bill for the next 3 months as compensation for this problem. I installed their Nokia <-> PC software on a computer and backed up the phone to the PC. Reverting to factory settings and restoring the phone memories has done nothing to improve the performance of the Nokia N8 on a weak network. I have since discovered other reports of the N8 and having poor performance in weak signal areas. One week has gone by and the same problems are being experienced. For example, yesterday I was at a client premises in Crestmead QLD 4132. There was ZERO signal available and I was OUTSIDE. Now, I have to escalate this situation to seek a remedy. My experience is that their current service coverage and product combination is NOT OF MERCHANTABLE QUALITY.

30 Apr 2011 05:25:57 PM: Are you sure of the date of the first text? I hope you have saved it. If it does say free texts on the 30th, contact the TIO.

17568 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major fail at 29 Apr 2011 06:09:51 PM
I have the lastest smart phone. However what is the point when Vodafail's coverage is so poor and unrealiable? I get internet access at home but I don't need it then because I can connect via my wireless rounter. Yet all around the CBD fringe were I work I can not get internet connection. This is where I need it.
29 Apr 2011 10:31:49 PM: simple. you're one of the countless fools that just keeps on accepting poor service by rewarding the carrier for their poor performance by paying their bill. REFUSE TO PAY YOUR BILL AND TELL THEM SO. Ordered a meatlovers pizza at your pizzeria, say $19, shop assistant flops box on counter, you take a sniff, open box, find there's little or no meat on your pizza, as staffie demands payment, ARE YOU going to pay up? Yep Aussies are stupid people, they pay up, walk off and go home whinging and ranting how the local pizzeria has done them over and ripped them off. Yeah folks, welcome to Awwwstralia, the great land down under, full of stupid people this wonderful sunburnt country of ours. They ask for the money, you stupid people just keep on coughing up and paying. Is it any wonder why we have politicians that break their promises, and then get rewarded by being re-elected? Is it any wonder then why we have the woes like rising power prices, rising cost of living, food, housing, and such? You stupid people just bend over and ask for more, so WHACK! you get booted up the rear end again. Boom! whinge rant and rave and whinge some more, then you aussie scum just bend on over again, give me some more, last time didn't hurt enough. Bam! Boot comes again. Ouch! Whinge, rant and rave, what? $xxxx for that? grrr grumble whinge whinge, you pay up. Then again aussie scum bends over when demanded by the rich and powerful, Whammo! Ouch that hurt, what? $xxxx.xx ? Damn can't afford that, that's alright I have no brain, I'm an Aussie, you pay up, and bend over another time. Whacko! Ouch that hurt. My parents saw the light that this is the stupid country, where 22 million people collectively have the IQ of a cockroach, that's why they went home, this place just doesn't make sense. Such a wonderful country, its incredibly beautiful and diverse natural attractions, the beaches, the wildlife, the climate and many beautiful places to see and explore, but what a shame the people are mostly braindead and stupid here, just no balls and no initiative, just pieces of driftwood floating along the river of life, bouncing and weaving along, not standing up for their rights, just taking whatever is thrown at them, and making do with the situation of the time without consideration of the fact that they have to continually work harder, longer and smarter to satisfy the ever-increasing needs and demands of the rich and powerful in the upper echolons of society.
THE ONLY REASON we have crap service here, exampled by Vodafone/3's woes, as well as issues with Optus as well, is most people just do as they're told, no can't do that will affect my credit rating, better cough up and put up with poor service then when my contract is up, I'll change phone companies. These companies' CEO's and top brass must surely be laughing behind closed doors, as would their major shareholders, thinking geez are these people stupid or what? We provide crap service, but the money just keeps on coming. Not much of a groundswell of protest, customers refusing to pay. Yep that's alright, we can just keep on doing more of the same, congestion, drop-outs, so what? The stupid people just keep on paying their bills, we'll be right alright. Thank goodness for dual citizenship, I can tell you THIS without a doubt, if I was faced with the prospect of having to spend the rest of my life living in Australia, I would commit suicide right now. Absolutely, the mere thought of such a prospect makes me puke. This is so sad because there are people out there who are REALLY suffering, starving, or struggling to find food, the only problem comes when people adopt the mindset that geez we're the lucky country we're not starving, we have sewage and reticulated good quality water and a health and hospital system that's kind of working well, very well compared to some places, then fall back into this we're the lucky country bullshit, so we have call dropouts, congestion and such. Corporate Australia and politicians KNOW this and play the game accordingly.
Keep on milking the cow 'cause it ain't kickin' back !

30 Apr 2011 11:05:01 AM: Like like like like like!!!
Australians do take it up the ass. And I am one Australian who is sick of it.
Yes we ahve some things good but many many others not so good. We have few large service providor companies like Vodafone and a government that is ballsless. Other countries would be rioting, protesting, setting cars on fire. Thankfully we dont do the latter yet, however we have become the American whingers. We complain and complain but dont do anything to try and change it. We accept defeat or think someone else will do it.
After poor mobile data speeds and no reception in most of Sydney, Australias 'capitol' city, i rang up and refused to pay my bill. They didnt accept it at first but i stuck to my guns and tore strips off the operator, even thos she wasnt personally responisbly. I got my 3 months free billing, the service has iimprved but data speeds on my mobile are still very very slow. This will intice a nother phone call if it does not get better.

17566 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing at 29 Apr 2011 05:52:07 PM
Vodafone is still charging me a bill even though my mobile service is no longer with vodafone. These people have to be stopped with what they are doing. Even though I have moved my services they still keep your bank details in their system. I have had to call them and tell them to stop sending me SMS for a bill when I have not even used their services for over a month. I also told them to remove my bank details from their computer. If they dont I will be taking them to court and to all the TV stations.
They are theives.
They are theives.
29 Apr 2011 06:46:52 PM: this isn't just a vodafone/3 problem, similar issue with Telstra here, in December I moved from Burleigh Waters to Robina, terminated my telstra account, as I no longer needed a landline, in mid-January I received a bill of $158-something from Telstra, paid it, and that was the end of that, or so I thought.
Today I received a Final Demand from "Specialised Recoveries" demanding a Telstra debt of $66.37, with the account number of my burleigh waters telstra account. I rang the 1-800-285-773 number, and that connected me to Telstra. A person with an Indian accent, very polite and helpful chat, and quite easy to understand too, which is a welcome change, said there was an outstanding amount from the past bill. I said there was a bill of $158-something, and that had been paid. I asked him to look up billing details and payment details, and he confirmed there was a payment of $158-something and the balance then was zero, but in February and March there was additional billing data, which had been unpaid. WTF? Don't they have to send a statement or an invoice for that? He said here was no billing data available for these, only that there was an outstanding amount of $66.37 in that account.
The "Final Demand" asserts that "we may provide your payment default to a credit reporting agency, blah blah blah" and that this will become part of my credit history file for 5 years and will be available to authorised parties such as credit providers.
I asked him whether he was able to provide me the particulars of the outstanding amount. What was it? Line rental charges? Calls? The account was closed at the end of december, no more calls, no more activity on the account...
OK, I know that most Aussies are stupid morons (look at the politicians this pathetic excuse of a nation elects into power and how they manage things - just like ordinary aussie scum live their lives, no idea...) - I mean how can a company send out a final demand without sending out a statement of account, and upon non-payment of same, a reminder ???
One thing is for certain, they will NOT BE PAID if the numbers don't add up - how can you terminate a service, and then some months later suddenly accrue other charges? Why the fuck to I pay taxes to this loser nation when there are no government laws and regulations to prevent big businesses from attempting to extract money from people like this? If I did this to my clients they would report me to the Fair Trading office, or attempt to have me charged for attempting to gain financial advantage through deception. I'm eagerly awaiting my telstra account detailing how this $66.37 outstanding account was calculated from a final bill that had a $158- something amount, and proof of payment that was acknowledged by this telephone operator, who could not extract particulars of how they came to the $66.37 outstanding amount ???
Sorry for being so pedantic, most of you would just say hey screw this, I don't want my credit rating tarnished, I better pay it, so stupid aussie moron pays it without much more than a whinge or two..
THIS IS PRECISELY THE REASON why we have the woes that so many people are whingeing about, rising electricity prices, high cost of living, and such, when you have a nation consisting of mostly braindead, stupid people who have no idea how things work in the real world. Can't wait to see the last of your stupid country, love the beaches, love the surf, the climate, but the way of life in this place, eeeech, no honesty, no integrity. Sting 'em for what they're worth, it's the aussie way. No thanks, FK off, not for me thank you very much. Mum and Dad went back 8 years ago citing that "if we stayed here, we'd become like them" . Bingo ! Stupid me thought differently, I considered myself as a proud immigrant Aussie, how sadly wrong I was, was thinking of wiping my ass with the aussie passport, but my ass is not worthy of being wiped with something as disgustingly pathetic as an Australian passport.

29 Apr 2011 07:36:11 PM: lol. I'm as despondent about things as you are. Just look how long the ACMA takes to act. I actually called the ACCC to see if they were doing anything about Vodafone. They said "you'll have to write to a minister because it's beyond our control cause Vodafone haven't actually broken any laws".
Sorry our country let you down, it's regulators are letting us all down.
PS my friend from another country (to whom I actually recommended Vodafone - agghh) had exactly the same experience as you did. He knew Vodafone from overseas and thought it to be a very good company, but then, welcome to Australia, where our regulators are half asleep.....

29 Apr 2011 07:41:18 PM: PS the regulators (ACCC, ACMA) will say "the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman" is there to help you (which is true). But why TF should we have to spend all day complaining to them to get anything done. And besides, no-one has even heard of the TIO! (11% awareness according to their website! - imagine if only 11% of people knew of the police, crims would have a field day, it's the same thing but companies are having a field day!)Cash bonanza screwing chilled out Aussies and tourists - it's complete BS! ACCC and ACMA have to step up.
29 Apr 2011 11:03:13 PM: and you stupid people just don't stand up and say NO - can't wait till I'm cashed up a little bit more and leave your loser country behind once and for all. Parents left 8 years ago, I thought this was a great country, yes it is, but unfortunately it's the people here.... Everything here is a result of the people. Dumb people = ineffective Government = poor service. I admire the guy who punched out a shop assistant over the missing chicko roll - he deserves a medal, because the dweeb who served him should have done his job properly, what he is being paid to do, but this stupid backwater pathetic excuse of a nation makes the shop assistant look like the victim and the person whom he was meant to serve look like the crim. This is so pathetic. If I'm a pizza store owner, and you ordered a ham and cheese pizza, and I charged you normal price, say $19, yet you get only ham and next to no cheese on your pizza, and I argue the point and demand payment of $19, but you get upset, refuse to pay, then me goes to the authorities to help extract the full $19 out of you... Yep Australia = loser country full of losers. I am so grateful for dual citizenship. I wasn't born here, and I have travelled extensively, yes I've been spoilt, but I could never stoop so low as to call myself an aussie. Google 'the swiss way' - I rest my case, RAISE the bar peoples. If your phone company's NOT giving you service, and you're getting constant drop-outs, poor network speed and such, DON'T pay your bill, write to them and tell them so, and complain to the T.I.O. - at least if it's a valid complaint with substance, your credit rating is unlikely to be shot, and you'll probably be let out of your contract, telcos tend to listen to the TIO, they cut and paste their response to the telco to release Joe Bloggs out of their contracts, guess what, they usually do, because most aussies are morons and pay their bills as they are told, and keep on complaining. It's a tiny minority who take the initiative to stand up for their rights, and then complain to the T.I.O., so if you're taking your grievances to the T.I.O., you will get results because so few people in this country have a brain between their ears, the telco's status quo remains unchanged, yeah release him, won't affect our bottom line or shareholder returns, keep the peace because most people here wouldn't know whether they're coming or going, they're too dumb. Right on the button. ACCC and ACMA won't step up, because they're part of the game.
29 Apr 2011 11:15:16 PM: 07:36:11 PM: the regulators are a govenment department, they are the direct result of democracy, stupid people vote for stupid governments. This country is inhabited by mostly stupid people. You, me and a whole bunch of others here are a tiny minority. Civil disobedience is the answer, as another poster said, why TF do we need to waste our time spending all day complaining to them to get anything done. I'm from Switzerland, consumer sensitivity over there is very high, telcos know this, because even when there are problems normally beyond their immediate control, such as bad weather, or some dick cutting through a cable affecting services, the delinquency rate in blling shoots through the roof. D2 and Swisscom spend considerable resources monitoring network performance and building redundancy into their networks because they know if they don't provide effective and acceptable service, the numbers of people who then refuse to pay their bills, or just say FK you and change carriers, goes though the roof. Cousin works as Ascom who does a lot of their basestation work, and my niece works at D2 accounts and concurs. Network outages and congestion problems are SERIOUS problems as their credit and collections departments go into overdrive. And over there, people don't put up with spending their time waiting on the phone, pressing buttons and getting frustrated, the average hang-up time is 2'30 (two minutes and thirty seconds), you keep your customer waiting on the phone for more than that, and the likelihood of you having to chase that debt through the collection process and then on to small claims through the courts, skyrockets. Telcos usually won't take things that far because the delinquency rate with court ordered demands are almost as high as they are pre-court. People there don't take shit like aussie do, that's why network performance is better, that's why governments listen, people say no to the bureaucratic process and the law almost as much as they do to private enterprise. So government and business keeps that bar (of quality of service and customer service so much higher than here), as my parents said before they left Australia and went back home. Love the climate, love the beaches, love the diversity of nature and Australia's awesome beauty, but if we stayed there, we'll become like them. Bingo!
30 Apr 2011 12:32:39 AM: I couldn't agree more with every single thing you've said!
Aussies, by nature, don't complain - it's built into our psyche. What really needs to happen is for the people we pay our taxes to (ACCC, ACMA) to ACTUALLY pull these telcos into line. They need to be rigorous, and if they want to bother with a TIO (which they should), it needs to be widely advertised so that every man and his dog knows that they can go there immediately if they have a problem.
Initially there'll be heaps of complaints, but 1-3 years after making these changes, complaint levels will settle back to pleasingly low levels, as shitty telcos (like Vodafail) are pushed the f*ck out of the marketplace, and only decent ones remain.
Trust me, we Australians don't "complain" a lot by nature, but we sure as chips pay taxes, and expect those departments receiving them to damn well do their job!! And that is, to regulate the bloody market so we don't have more Vodafails!

30 Apr 2011 12:42:26 AM: you know another way to look at it, is just that Vodafone could just turn around and say get f*cked Australia - you make these laws, we obey them, then you arc up at us - WTF??
Vodafone hasn't broken any laws, not as far as the ACCC or ACMA are concerned, so what's Australia complaining about?

30 Apr 2011 11:19:23 AM: I agree that we whinge but dont complain appropriatley. The issue with govt departments like the TIO is that we look at the govt as useless as any one else if not more so, so we think what the hell is a govt dept going to be able to do for us.
Also, telcos or anyone else should have to apply to courts to have our credit rating affected. I had an argument with a bill with telstra over 10 years ago. They then cancelled my contract on me and sent me a 1300 bill which i refused to pay. So they put me on the credit report as owing money. I couldnt get a single loan for 5years!!!! I wanted to take them to court but didnt have the money to fight them.
The TIO at the time was usesless.

1 May 2011 12:11:36 AM: I agree, mostly. I hostestly don't think the TIO is the problem, but the problem is that people need to know about it.
Making a complaint takes 5 minutes, and telcos are fined every time we complain. This hurts them so they don't want us to complain.
The issue arises when people don't know about the Ombudsman, and don't bother to use it, which is an absulutely huge issue. Official stats (have a look on the ombudsman reports) state that awareness of the ombudsman service is 12%. Let me repeat that: 12%. Meaning, that at least 88% of people DON"T EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT.
Now that we've established that, let's go on...
If 9/10 people don't even know about it, how many are actually complaining? 1/25, 1/50??? Who knows, but it can't be very many.
IF it's 1/40, for instance, that means Vodafone can mistreat 40 customers before they get one of them actually getting off their bum to complain to the ombudsman. The ombudsman will then issue a fine of *shock/horror* $62 to Vodafone.
In essence, Vodafone get fined $62 for pissing of 40 customers!!!!!! I know for a fact that they made about $400 off me before I finally called it quits with their sh*thouse service, so I effectively paid their costs for another 250 unhappy customers!!
How is that ever going to discourage them???? Vodafone have no incentive to treat customers properly.
The solution, let's take an example. Red light cameras are a good disincentive to running red lights because those who brake the law know they'll likely get caught and face a fine. But what would happen if only 1/40 people who ran a red light got caught??? People would be far more willing to run red lights cause the chance of getting caught is so slim. And how does this apply to Vodafone? Because vodafone know the chances of getting caught when they treat customers appaulingly is so slim, simply because not very many people can report them (because noone knows about the TIO).
I don't know how the TIO hasn't been blasted through our airwaves, put on TV ads, peppered across banner ads on web pages and plonked right into the major newspapers with half page ads! If ACMA did this, I wonder how long it would take the telcos to pull up their socks!!

i have just moved to freshwater in cairns an i get maybe just one bar inside my house i have been to vodafone an have rang them asking if they can unlock my phone but they want to charge me $75 i don't see why i should have to pay it when they can't service me...not happy
29 Apr 2011 10:43:05 PM: you don't (but they say you do), tell them to go and "F" themselves. If we can get enough people to grow a brain in this pathetic excuse of a nation, and stand up to thee parasites and say enough is enough, no I'm not paying up, stick ya phone up ya a$$ I'm not like most aussies (braindead people), I'm not happy and I don't give a FK, I just want the service that I'm paying for, then these parasites will start investing their profits in adding extra network capacity and coverage to satisfy their client base. Keep on paying your bills as demanded, and it's like re-electing the same politicians that have broken promises and such, and guess what, you'll just get more of the same.
The only difference between pollies and vodafone is that here you have an avenue of complaint, refuse to pay your bills, tell them why, and make a formal complaint to the TIO, at least your credit rating won't get shot if your complaints are valid, real and not bullshit excuses to get out of paying your bills. Companies as pathetic as Vodafone and their shareholders should be quaking in their boots. They must be thanking their lucky stars that the people here are stupid and braindead, because in Europe they have to provide at least a half-decent service because as soon as your subscribers start experiencing dropped calls, low signal strength in urban areas, well they just change carriers and refuse to pay their bills. Consumer sensitivity there is amazing compared to zombie land downunder.... It all depends on where your standards are.

1 am. 400m from interchange. Mobile broadband. Continuous Ping over 15 minutes. Uptime = 86% (14% of time 3 x Pings > 1500ms); Average ping 657.3ms. Passed ping <500ms 61%. Maximum Ping 1972ms, minimum pin 339ms. Deviation 380ms. Over 15 minutes, 4 outages, longest outage 49 seconds. Conclusion: service unavailable at offpeak times 400m from interchange = 14%. Acceptable service (Ping <500ms over 15 minutes in offpeak = 61%). Fail.
29 Apr 2011 11:25:34 PM: and with so much data you've managed to collect you still pay your bill? Refuse to pay and draft a quick complaint to the TIO and tell your telco to stick it where the sun don't shine, and get on-line, facebook, I did a letterbox drop advising people to boycott Vodafone and '3' and did a bunch of posts on my facebook wall (I have over 13'000 fans on my FB fan page), got served a cease and desist order from some legal firm in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, telling me I risk being prosecuted for defamation. I wiped my butt with the letter and shoved it into an envelope and returned it to the sender. Haven't heard from them since, and I'm upping the ante on my campaign. Stand up for your rights people, just because you live in Australia like me doesn't mean you have to behave like most ausses. Look at the people of Egypt and Lybia, or the poms who took to the streets of London protesting about government cutbacks. Police were called in to move them on, many refused and went on a destructive rampage destroying everything in sight Ain't it interesting how quickly government back-flipped on their proposed cut-backs. Shame aussie have no brains and no balls. Yeah pick a fight with some dude taking glance at your boyfriend, but dare stand up to authority when you're being robbed by big business, noooooooo. Thick as a plank, hypocrite and zombie mentality. Welcome to my description of the average aussie. Please take offence to this assertion of min, stand up and say FK u, that's not me, and take a stand, take the lead and BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THIS WORLD - together we can change things for the better, spread the word and incite change. It doesn't have to be like this, stand up for your rights. If you truly think THIS IS the lucky country, then for FK's sake, MAKE it the lucky country by taking ACTION...

Have a look at the busy Telstra shop, and then have a look at the empty Vodafone shop. Business going like this can not last, and something will have to give.
29 Apr 2011 11:32:30 PM: yeah but most of the vodafone shops AREN'T EMPTY - Robina town center this afternoon, Crazy Johns had PEOPLE WAITING TO BE SERVED, similarly the "3" and Vodafone stores were quite busy too. In a nation full of stupid people like Australia, business like this not only lasts, but it actually THRIVES. Shareholders laugh all the way to the bank. The only thing here that gives are the dumb people who just put up with crap service and keep on paying their bills, on time, as demanded. This is so pathetic, and we wonder why we end up with politicians like Anna Bligh and the like, this country is so wonderful, but we have an epidemic of stupid people here, it's not funny it's sad (I have two kids who were born here, one knows this is the asshole of the world, as I've taken her to the states and back home to Switzerland, the other's confused. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have dual citizenship and a means to escape to civilization, if Australian was my nationality with no other option, I don't know what I'd do, I'd probably join the ranks of those maniacs who kill themselves and their families or something. Quite sad really because we should have everything going for us, but the current state of affairs just makes me wonder and scratch my head.. WTF?
30 Apr 2011 11:36:20 AM: and the reason i love these posts is i have travelled to many european countries, America and the Asia Pacific countries. Thing is until recently australians havent been able to afford to travel so dont realise that we dont have to put up with this S#%T
30 Apr 2011 08:42:12 PM: there's good reason why we (Australians) have put up with this crap, and it's the same reason we don't typically get up in arms about other injustices: cause some Authority is there to identify the culprit and punish them.
However, in Vodafone's case, neither the ACCC nor the ACMA are not doing anything. You are absolutely right, normal ethical people are being totally rorted by Vodafone, and nothing has been done about it.
I reckon for every person who has complained there'd be 10 who haven't. Point is many many people are suffering from sh&% service. It IS someone's job to ensure that we don't suffer, and that's the ACMA. Why haven't they put ads on the TV telling ripped-off customers where to go (TIO)??? Probably cause they don't want 'more' complaints. Thing is, if they fail to do it then it's no different to turning your back to crime.
Evil prospers when good men do nothing. Thanks for nothing, ACMA!

17512 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 28 Apr 2011 12:19:41 PM
After many years with Vodafone, i cancelled my plan with them to move across to a more competitive product which offered better coverage - my main issue with the service was data speeds which lacked significantly and was basically useless. I called to confirm the total cost, including number porting, to payout the plan and cancel the phone and mobile internet services. I was quoted at just over $300 - i proceeded with cancellation and ported the number to the competitor. I contacted Vodafone to confirm the cancellation when i was advised i was charges an additional $600 something to port the number, on top of services charges and the $300 cancellation - bill: in excess of $1000. They offered me $100 cashback to keep my business and a free iPhone 4 - firstly, i had already transferred my business to a much cheaper plan and second, i already have an iPhone 4.

Sick of calls dropping out, constant problems with no service, even in built up areas and most places in my house. I can't beleive I have to go outside to get a decent signal. Calls go straight to message bank even when I do have service. We were promised back in October that the service in our area would improve within a month or so, its now April and we are still waiting. Its an absolute joke that we are paying for a service that we are not receiving to to the fullest. My husband and I are seriously considering switching to another company if the service issues are not resolved fast.

I was told end of last year by vodafone that since joining with 3 mobile there service is essentially the same. Upon signing to them i instantly noticed a vast lack of service and coverage. calls drop out alot, if they dont over half are very distorted, some wont call at all and data speeds are woeful when i compare it with phones on other networks.

Im sick of never having service on my phone it wont even let me call 000 if I needed no one can call me and half the time I cant call out.. Yet vodafone wont let me out of my contract..
29 Apr 2011 11:46:36 PM: Dialling 112 from a mobile handset will connect you through to emergency services just like 000 if there' no service with your carrier in your area, ie: Vodafraudsters give you no service, but there's a Telstra or Optus service available, your 000 call (by dialling 112 from your handset) will put you through.
I live in some little backwater country town in the middle of nowhere called "Robina" and had precisely this situation, my daughter was mucking around with a school friend of hers on my Total Gym 1000 workout machine and fell, headbutting a bolt on the machine's bottom, had blood gushing out of her forehead, I applied a compress, picked up my iPhone, connected to "3", dialled 000, and got the beep, beeo, beep, looked at the screen and up top left it said "SEARCHING" indicating there was no service in the area, my fault for moving out into the sticks, easy peazy, dialled 112 and within 15 seconds was talking to an operator, gave her my address and about 8 minutes the ambulance arrived, and we were on our way to Robina Hospital. Everything went alright, and my girlie girl had two stitches to show off to her classmates at her school (Varsity college). My only regret is I should have chosen my place of residence more wisely, not choosing to live in some backwater middle-of-nowhere place like Robina LOL, just because you're surrounded by houses left right and centre or you got one of the biggest shopping centres on the coast, one that's had over $20 million spent on it recently in refurbishment, doesn't mean you're going to get a decent mobile phone service, yes this is Australia, loser country full of losers, but remember, when things go pear shaped and 000 won't do it, dial 112, it's the international 911, 000, etc

29 Apr 2011 11:53:37 PM: ...and they will let you out of your contract if you make a formal, detailed complaint to the TIO - you see most aussies are completely stupid and just keep on paying their phone bills and whinge and rant and put up with crap service, so as far as the telco's concerned, TIO directives to release complainants from their contracts are a tiny minority, makes no difference to them, most aussies are too stupid to stand up for their rights, telcos comply without question (TIO rebuttal usually reserved for what they deem unreasonable complaints), doesn't happen, the population of Australia en-large is so stupid and complacent, even a few thousand directives by the TIO to release these people from their contracts, and let them keep their (subsidised) handsets will make about as much difference to their bottom line, as you pissing in the ocean at Bondi Beach, and expecting subsequent pollution effects at Main Beach, Gold Coast.. Mobile Broadband. 200m from Southport CBD next to Australia Fair. 5 am (clearly nowhere near peak.) Full bar reception. HSPDA. Continous Ping to hotmail.com over 10 minutes. 6 outages. Average Ping 710ms. Deviation 456.3ms Maximum 1982ms. Minimum 348ms. Longest outage 49s. Overall: only 62% of Ping less than 1500ms. This means internet practically unusable 48% of time at non-peak of 5am next to CBD. How fail can vodafone get?

27 Apr 2011 04:02:20 PM: Vodafone retail staff have been encouraged/told to switch all users handsets to 2G mode in a bid to reduce congestion. Check your settings and make sure that cellular data and 3G are enabled. If not, then it's a forced 3G blackout from the cell(s) that you're closest to.

I have only been with Vodaphone for 3-4 weeks. I cannot use my mobile (Iphone 4) at my desk at work or make or receive calls at my home. I was previously with 3 and was encouraged by Mobicom to change to Vodaphone and take advantage of the upgrade in phones - 10 in all. We are experiencing no service in 4 of our major work areas, where we did have service previously. The dropped calls is the worst and the delay in texts is atrocious. I have experienced good customer service but no solution to the problem has been offered. I am extremely disgruntled with the level of coverage and Vodaphone has not provided the level of service that I signed up for. 2 out of 10 vodaphone

After selling the Vodafone product for many years and being a customer for 12 I am over it. I have been out of the mobile game for 5 years now ansd well all i can say is that Vodafone AUS has gone backwards. I live on the Gold Coast and have 3 ctn ( numbers ) conected to Vodafone. The coverage is the big thing. I can sit at home and my phone will say no service. I have to walk down the road to send a txt. Droped calls are becoming a joke. After many complaints to Voda and yes i have received a small rebate of half porice access for 3 months it still goes on and on. It's a real shame as i have been loyal to this company for a very long time. SORT IT OUT VODA.2 of my phones still have about 18 months left to run and the way they are going they will not make it to the end.

Over the past month I have continually experienced having what appears to be full service on my phone but unable to make or receive calls. Text messages have also been very slow to reach their destinations.
Very Very unsatisfied and I cant wait until my contract is up. I have already started a new contract with Telstra which I was very reluctant to do but alas I cannot put up with poor service anymore!!!

27 Apr 2011 09:55:55 AM: write to vodafone informing them you will not be paying any further bills they send you, and that you are writing a complaint to the TIO. Then draft up a formal complaint to the TIO. Port your number across to Telstra (or Optus), you don't have to pay for poor service.
How would you react if you ordered a ham and cheese family sized pizza from your local pizzeria, say $19.90 - order complete, guy flops pizza carton onto table, you open lid and see no cheese. Are you going to pay the $19.90 they demand? I certainly wouldn't. I'd tell them to go and whack some cheese on it, or piss off I'm out of here, yet Aussies continue to put up with crap service and when the bills come in they just pay them, albeit with some whingeing and raving and complaining. Stop whinging and TAKE ACTION - actions speak louder than words. Remember big brass of major companies laugh behind closed doors, they will do whatever they can reasonably get away with. For as long as they have cashflow they're happy. So actions to rectify their problems are slow. I know of several owners of Vodafone dealers who are fed up with the company, as it's impacting their dealership's growth, they still have the ongoing revenue from their existing clients usage, but you need growth over the long term of your dealership, as contracts expire, some customers get enticed by other carrier offers, especially nowadays its so easy and convenient to port your number between carriers.

17393 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is should have their telco license revoked at 27 Apr 2011 07:08:16 AM
it is high time we pressure our federal parliamentarians to introduce minimum service level legislation to telcos as condition of being allowed to operate and conduct business in this country. Vodafone and 3 are pathetic, and their problems are widespread and appear to be on-going.
Telecommunications is essential infrastructure on which business and the general public relies on in this day and age, and needs heavy regulation and stiff penalties when they fail to maintain a minimum standard of service. Taxi companies for example have minimum standards and service requirements imposed upon them. Dept.of.Transport monitors performance levels of each and every taxi company in terms of average pick-up times, and number of complaints. I know of two Australian taxi services who have been given notices to improve their level of service and driver training, or have their operating license terminated. One had that happen to, they were subsequently taken over by Cabcharge.
Privately owned bus companies servicing the public also have their performance levels assessed periodically, and if they consistently run late and provide ineffective levels of service to the public they serve, they are also reprimanded and brought into line. WHY NOT TELCOS ???
Back home in civilization, my cousin works at Ascom and does a lot of work with Swisscom. One of the reasons why coverage and network speeds are infinitely superior to the Aussie average is because of tough government legislation and controls. Feedback from senior management is if a telco attracted that many complains over there, and had that many problems, they'd be given notice and would be just a step away from having their telecommunications operating license revoked.

17369 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic FAIL at 26 Apr 2011 10:06:06 PM
I sent a complaint via email to Vodaphone on Sunday afternoon regarding the issues that I was having with sending text messages. I tried calling as well but after being on hold for 40 mins I decided to give the web a shot.
Firstly, I did not have access to my laptop at the time so I logged on to Safari on my Iphone, typed in www.vodafone.com.au - this did not take me directly to their normal webpage but instead to some other vodafone site that I guess was made specifically for mobiles.... it was useless, at this point I didnt want to read about the latest football scores or what not, but there was nothing on this site about how to contact vodafone, there was also nothing on this site about the issue with the network... This was probably at around 4.00pm that I was looking at the site, an hour or something after the issue began. There was a small link down the bottom of the page that read 'full site' I clicked on it and it took me to the normal vodafone website. Whilst I was happy with this, I wasted a considerable amount of time trying to find the email function.
I sent an email asking what was happening and that I was sick of the constant issues that I was having with my network and asked for information about how to get out of my contract possibily without fees being incurred. I basically had a bit of a vent as well about how frustrating this company is to deal with.
I got an automated response that must have just picked out the part about wanting out of my contract. the information was useless to me and didn't really answer my enquiry, so I sent a response back saying that they had failed to answer my questions. About 5 mins later I received another email back that was basically from whoever the poor person was that was answering all of the emails that was basically a cut and paste spiel about yes, they have identified the issue and are in the process of resolving it..... Yet again they failed to answer my enquiries.... so I gave up.

Well when you ring a company that can't take your call for another 2 days and then rings you back with someone who can't even find the log notes from the problem in the first place and then you have to call them back because you just lost service for the the 3rd time that day all while living and driving on the Gold Coast which is hardly the backwaters of Australia .... need I say more other than this Vodafone failure is just a small part of a much bigger telecommunications failure in this country, its disgraceful what Telstra has forced us to live with yes I said Telstra they have the best network but unless you are with them then you suffer, so I blame Telstra first then Vodafone because you can't run a company with as many customers as they have like they do its pathetic... shame Telstra same Vodafone shame

As well as what everyone else has experienced, on my unfortunate car breakdown last thursday night, attempted to recharge using my Credit card yelded only a "technical difficulty" twice, I then had to walk to the gas station, purchase a recharge to call for help. Everything seemed to work ok except when I got home to check my bank account to find a "Pending transaction" for the attempt credit card top up. How rude, we all know that that would cancel out the remaining credit that I had to walk to the gas station to get, and we all know what their customer service is like... NOT INTERESTED !

have been with Vodafone for awhile now & ever since being with them, I have had nothing but trouble. Everyday there is some problem with my network it goes from full signal to no network to emergency calls in a matter of a split second. I have to turn my phone on & off several times in a day & sometimes even pull my phone apart & take out the battery to get it to work. It is extremely annoying when you are on a phone call with someone & for no reason at all your signal drops out & cuts off the call. I also cannot receive picture messages, my txt get to people late & I sometimes don't even received txt messages & if I do they are too late...arrrrgghhh!!!!!! I called & spoke to the technical team about my issues & they said that they would fix them!! What do you think happened??? Still no improvement & still no picture messages received & stilll issues with txt messages & phone calls . To top it off this long weekend..of all weekends for it to happen the network it was down just BRILLANT!!! Vodafone better pull their finger out & sort out their issues or they are going to be loosing a large amount of customers. Including me who is seriously thinking of going back to Telstra. I have been with Telstra for years & have never had any problems with their service always plenty of coverage wherever you are. I went with Vodafone because they were a cheaper option for me to choose now I no why they are cheaper, cause you get what you pay for a crappy service. Who out there agrees with me & is having the same issues????

We have mobile Broadband Internet, and have had NO coverage for the past 7 days, and prior to this very poor coverage for 3 weeks. Our internet connection would keep dropping out, any time of the day and without any warning. Now we cant connect at all, expect with GPRS/EDGE connection, which is extremely SLOW, too slow to allow me to upload photos, download music, or pay bills. I cant believe how much I pay for BROADBAND INTERNET, and I cant use it!!!!!!!! So frustrating!
17265 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 26 Apr 2011 07:03:39 PM
I recently switched from Three to Vodafone as I was constantly being charged for excess data usage from emails when roaming on Telstra. I was told that Vodafone doesn't roam on Telstra and had a much better coverage than Three so I switched over, what a MISTAKE!! Internet access is just about nonexistent, bad reception when making phone calls, can take up to a minute to connect a call some times. I use my phone for business (self employed) but if this keeps up I'll be unemployed as I won't be able to communicate with my clients. When are they going to get it right and provide the service we are paying for???

Just about any location on Bribie Island in Qld has poor reception from Vodafone. It has been this way for some years. Inside some buildings on the island, for example the RSL Club, have absolutely no Vodafone signal unless you walk ouside the building. Indeed even at my holiday unit in Bellara. I have to go outside onto the balcony to have a successful mobile phone call. Mobile internet coverage for my laptop computer is also a touch and go thing in my unit. Dropouts occur regularly.

If it doesn't improve by December this year, I will switching mobile phone provider. To add my email address to my account took about 4 months. I rang, went to the store, updated my account online many times, but it still took 4 months.

27 Apr 2011 06:40:47 AM: tell them to stick their bill up their rear ends, don't pay it, and make a formal, written complaint to the T.I.O. ... For as long as Vodafone and 3 have their cashflow, ie everybody keeps paying their bills even though they're getting unacceptable service, then change will be slow and sluggish. If 25% of their customer base refuses to pay up, that's a big dent in their cashflow. People power, people !

30 Apr 2011 12:21:22 AM: they don't (and won't) give a fukk for as long as the dumb aussie customers keep paying their bill. Why should they provide a decent service if you keep endorsing it by way of rewarding them by paying them for substandard service. Just imagine if it was like back home where bad service saw bill delinquencies skyrocket by 400-800% when there are network outages, even just one base station going down in Dietikon, Basel or Zurich. Companies over there build redundancy into their networks to ensure quality of service, similarly in the states, Suncom in Florida the same (client of mine works for them), if a base station goes down, even if its accidental, people lose mobile phone coverage, or get weak signal as their phones try to maintain connection with adjacent area base station, as far as billing and collections are concerned, the numbers of subscribers who then refuse to pay their bill skyrockets. It's all about how high the population sets the bar. I do know of a lot of mobile phone users in TX, PA, CT and CA who complain of occasional issues, so it ain't all sweet and cosy over there - they often have similar problems to us, but there are always consequences, lots of delinquent customers - a massive jump in workload for credit control and collections. This in turn hurts the telco's bottom line.

Told them waited over an hour on the phone and gave up, she had the audacity to say I need to be more patient. If there were a brick nearby I would have dome something I might have regretted. Pathetic phone company, pathetic people they employ.
Interesting they can access your customer file if you're buying a new handset (I upgraded from an LG to an iPhone some time ago, that, including the rate plan change, was all done at a "3" booth. It's clear all their focus is on gaining new customers, but neglect existing ones.

Let me list the things I have experienced:
1. 1 1/2 hours of waiting on the phone for customer service. My phone darn near overheated, being a hot day.
2. Not recieveing bills - in general I have to ring them TWICE before they'll send my bills.
3. I have tried twice to have both my contracts cancelled. Thank god one expires in 3 months time.
4. SMS messages take forever to arrive on the other end.
5. Calls drop out when I have full bars of reception, and i'm calling a landline.
6. It takes 10 minutes to load a small text only email.
7. GSM network is faster than the 3G.
8. And most disgusting of all - I have been informed that the Vodafone towers were deliberately switched off shortly after the flood events of January 2011 in Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley, leaving thousands of customers unable to call for help or find their families. And after that there was noone on the ground to help the people of the Lockey Valley out with new phones after they lost theirs in the flood.
I am with another telco now and very impressed with their service. Yes, it gets slow online during peak periods, but loading those simple emails are instantaneous, and the 3G network actually exists. This telco also had people on the ground helping people out with new prepaid phones, and were on the ground soon after Yasi went through to get the network up and running.

17139 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very at 26 Apr 2011 09:17:40 AM
Signed up Vodafone 24 month contract 5 months ago, reception at home is fine, however when out and mobile, have very unreliable connection and in particular with mobile interet access from my phone or when tethered. Have about 10 minutes connection at best whilst on 1 hour train trip to/from Brisbane CBD on caboolture line. Frustrating, also call drop out often when out and about and only about 70% coverage, often having to walk outside or move to higher ground to get reception. Currently on hold for over 75 minutes to Vodafone customer service and about to hang up.
26 Apr 2011 03:42:45 PM: You could always email them and request a call back.
17131 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is possibly fraudulent ? at 26 Apr 2011 12:05:17 AM
Anybody know whether the data usage displayed on the Vodafone pocket Wi-Fi is accurate? On the first day of the billing cycle, I reset the device, on the last day of last months' billing cycle, I supposedly used 3.2Gb of Data, but got lumped with a $138 bill (almost $100 of excess usage). This is a serious anomaly, as I'm on the $39 / 8Gb plan, and my own calculations seem to conclude that I'm using around 3-4Gb of data per month. Anybody else having similar issues? I can't help but feel I'm being ripped off. Previously I got by quite nicely with a 6Gb plan on Optus and never, ever exceeded my monthly data quota, always around 3Gb, except for last Xmas, I chewed through 5Gb in one month. My internet usage pattern is precisely the same as before with Optus - running my online business, primarily yahoo email, ebay browsing, internet banking and using sendoutcards.
26 Apr 2011 11:17:11 AM: I was overcharged for data a few months ago too. When I finally got through to the customer service, I was fobbed off with the most ridiculous excuses (apparently I'd used over 1GB of data at 4am some Tuesday, and when I told them it was impossible as I was sleeping at the time, they tried telling me it could be from some app working in the middle of the night....). Got straight onto the Ombudsman and lodged a complaint as I knew I wasn't getting anywhere with Vodafone. Within a week I had a call from VF (shock horror - an Australian!), she apologised and offered me a reimbursement and sen some credit. Moral of the story, looks like the only thing VF is afraid of and pays attention to is the Telecoms Ombudsman. Good luck!
26 Apr 2011 07:28:45 PM: i think there may be anomalies across (all) major carriers when it comes to "measuring" data usage, in Burleigh Waters, I had a Telstra Velocity FTTP broadband service, returned home from an o/s wake-up-call holiday to face a $1500 excess usage bill, despite the fact that there was NOBODY AT HOME for SIX WEEKS, a whole billing period with ZERO USAGE. i had to waste a lot of my (valuable) time proving my innocence. WTF? Passport stamps on my passport weren't good enough (your kids might have been using your service - interesting because I never disclosed to Telstra that I was either married, seperated, or had kids living with me, but they pointed out to me several blog posts from me stating that I "had the kids for a weekend out of every two" - so Telcos and their legal eagles do research on google.. Ummm fair enough, but this pathetic episode wasted so much of my time and resources, I could have spent building my goals and dreams, to get out of this loser country and join my parents in re-joining civilization and get out of that overpriced downunder.

Contracts SHOULD BE ILLEGAL, a phone company should have CONSEQUENCES for the way they run their businesses. My suggestion is to follow my lead, REFUSE to pay your bills, I've already been threatened with disconnection, and as soon as outbound calls are barred and internet access is suspended, then I'm switching to either Telstra or Optus. As far as the remaining 15 months of contract is concerned, FOLLOW MY LEAD - REFUSE TO PAY. Tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine. If enough of us collectively refuse to pay our Vodafone and 3 bills, then perhaps they will either shape up or ship out. Aussie consumers aren't the braindead zombie morons you people at Vodafone think they are. wait and see.
26 Apr 2011 03:41:11 PM: Not such a good idea. Non payment of accounts will result in a negative impact on your credit rating. Good luck joining another provider if you have bad credit. Actually, good luck doing anything with bad credit.
I had similar problems that everyone is reporting - I called Vodafone and let them know of my problems. We tried another handset, a replacement SIM and then they OFFERED to cancel my contract. So I did. Total time to bail and join another carrier: within 36 hours.

26 Apr 2011 03:47:50 PM: If you are disputing what vodafone is charging you then file a complaint with the TIO. In the complaint to the TIO you can tell them the amount of money in dispute, once you complete this complaint you will not have to pay that amount until the complaint is resolved. Regardless, the damage to your credit rating from not paying your account is not worth it. File a complaint and dispute the charges if there is a problem.

26 Apr 2011 06:49:05 PM: thanks.. quite frankly I don't care about my credit rating. Most of my income is generated o/s. Have a UBS Mastercard, paying 5.6%pa interest, and currently paying off 2 properties I purchased (TX and PA, USA) for $usd68'000 and $usd49'000 respectively, both are positively geared and are currently returning about $200 to $300 per month after management expenses and insurance. Why the hell anybody would want to live in an overpriced loser country like Australia is just beyond me, unless you're one of those boat people from a war-torn or famine country.... TIO complaint being compiled at the moment, Telstra already approved me for the services I'm going to tell Vodaphoney and "3" to stick up their rear ends. More people should take this approach. Telcos in this place are so pathetic, but they DO listen to the TIO and release customers when a valid complaint is made, with supporting documentation. My parents left loser country Australia 8 years ago and haven't looked back. One would reasonably expect that if you pay top dollar for services you receive a corresponding quality to go with it, not here. Then again, average aussie will say she'll be right, mobile phone services in South Africa are the pits, aren't we a lucky bunch.... Good work on the vodafail site, though. Double-thumbs up.

I live in the middle of Robina, Vodafone mobile broadband I'm lucky to get 1-2 bars of coverage, constantly dropping out the connection, what's more, the way they measure data is highly inaccurate, as I'm being over-charged, supposed to be $39 for 8Gb of monthly data, I'm currently consuming in the vincinity of 2-3Gb per month, yet got lumped with a $138 bill.
My iPhone is with 3, and their service is just as sub-standard. Struggling to maintain 1-2 bars of signal strength, even if I swap SIM's to my Nokia 6500 or my housemate's Samsung Galaxy. I spend good money advertising my business, and incoming calls just drop out. You can't run a business like this, Vodafone and 3 are a joke, finally I understand WHY there are 24 month contract on mobile services, and exit fees, their only purpose is to discourage dissatisfied customers from readily switching carriers.

Currently using the Vodafail mobile broadband network via Crazy John's. Tried to use the mobile broadband at Griffith Uni (Nathan Campus) in Brisbane and could not get any signal. Looks on the Vodafail coverage map is the campus is lit up greener than a traffic light. What a joke.

We have absolutely zero reception in our house which can be frustrating for friends, family and employers trying to call, the signal will still get through on standby but as soon as you start talking the call drops almost instantly, we tend to have to go outside to call someone.

25 Apr 2011 05:48:27 PM: Change providers and experience the same things but in a different location
26 Apr 2011 05:24:17 PM: Not with Telstra or Optus you don't.
27 Apr 2011 06:52:40 AM: agreed. Housemate has an Optus service, 4-5 bars of coverage. Consistently. My iphone with 3, and mobile broadband with vodafraudster sometimes has 3 or 4 bars, sometimes 1, sometimes no coverage. It's so inconsistent, does 3 and vodafone use crap basestation equipment or what? Sometimes good coverage, sometimes non-existent, in the same location. Housemate's Optus signal is consistently 4 bars+ - my iPhone is unlocked, so I can swap SIM's - his Optus sim gives me 4 bars, vodafone and 3, hardly a bar or two.
We go to Robina Town Center, we both have full service on our mobile broadbands, we both fire up the same website (courier mail - to watch a video embedded in a news story - we both click play at the same time, Optus connected lappie takes 3-4 seconds and the video starts playing. My vodafraudsters connected lappie, 45 seconds later, video starts, 5 seconds later it stops, then 15 seconds later, a few more seconds of play. THIS IS FUCKIN PATHETIC .

17097 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is often and completely at 25 Apr 2011 12:24:06 PM
I live less than 5km from the centre of the largest non-metropolitan city in Queensland and have begun leaving my phone at home when I travel around to visit friends who are in other suburbs as, more often than not, I can't get a signal strong enough to answer calls. Recently I travelled from Canberra to North Queensland by road on the inland route - I had reception for about two hours out of Canberra, then almost nothing until I reached Townsville, apart from a signal inside a few larger towns such as Roma. Others in the car had much longer and more frequent reception from another provider. There's a lesson there somewhere, I guess.

I can't believe that vodafone didn't let it's customers know that it's network had gone down from yesterday afternoon til late sunday evening. Why the hell am I with this network?
26 Apr 2011 12:08:14 AM: 24 month contract, perhaps? That's the reason they have them, to discourage people from exercising their rights to a decent service.
17086 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ridiculous! at 25 Apr 2011 10:00:59 AM
I have a Vodafone wireless internet USB stick & pay monthly to have this "privilege" - yeah right.
I live close to a fairly major regional city, so my reception should be pretty good - you would think.
At least 3-4 times a week, my internet will not connect. Either the software has a meltdown or the USB stick can't find reception. For me, it's exciting when my internet reaches speeds of 7kbps! Anything above that is a (rare) bonus.
Of course, if you want to do anything about it, you have to ring some stupid number & listen to some stupid automatic voice - which then charges me on my non-Vodafone mobile. No point going in store either, they just look at me dumbly & tell me to go home & call the support line.

My phone is fine, it's the service, phone checked by Apple. It says a call came in when it doesn't ring, then a voicemail comes through, oh just like 3 days later! So I don't even know of the call til then. My phone will receive txts but not always send. I've turned it on and off a million times like the pimpley faced teens that run the shops tell you to do, real helpful, then nothing makes a difference. When I asked them to check reception where I live, they say perfect area, EVERYBODY that comes to my place has probs with reception on any network, Nundah is inner city, don't know why so hard. Sick of paying for a service that doesn't exist.

I am on a plan with vodafone, and moved interstate from WA to QLD. Advised vodafone of this and changed my address. No bill was sent to my new address, rang again and again and staff informed me that I was overdue with bills. Cause of this, vodafone cut me off and wanted full payment of full plan. This I could not achieve so made a payment plan with operator. Before Xmas, with other bills really tight, I requested that I pay a little less than what we both agreed to, operator agreed to this. 2 days after Xmas, i was cut off from using this service, got in contact with operator and they advised me that nothing was entered in to the data base so there was nothing they could do and will not be able to use till I have paid it off.
