26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

We have Vodafone wireless internet (well we thought we did), but we almost always have trouble getting a connection. The service is off sometimes for days & when it is working it just drops out. We are told that we may not be in a good coverage area, yet when we were with the 3 network & couldn't get coverage we were told that we would have no problem getting coverage for our area from Vodafone. We therefore changed servers only to find that we now have a much more inferior service. If we get the internet at all it is slow, painfully slow, or drops out completely, or we just cannot connect. I have been with Vodafone for 2 months & in that time I have been back to their stores or called them (sorry, called their number without actually making contact with a real person) about 6 times. Always the store staff tell us to call the phone number as they can't help. It appears that no one can help but they are completely at ease taking our money each month without doing anything about fixing very obvious problems. I don't understand why the consumer advocacy groups don't call for Vodafone to be prevented from selling their service (or lack thereof) until they can rectifiy the problems. Because what they are currently doing must surely be considered "False Advertising". They are clearly unable to provide customers with the service they are falsley taking money for.

15142 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Same amount of fail as every other network at 2 Feb 2011 10:39:31 PM
I was originally on Vodafone and had the usual issues with poor coverage, slow internet speeds, poor Call Centre service. I then jumped over to Telstra and received horrible customer service and massive billing errors. I am now with Optus and whilst things were great at first, I am now getting coverage issues and have been overcharged AGAIN! Store staff at Vodafone and Optus were great, but issues like these have become predictable and almost expected with all providers.

I'm reasonable and understand things don't always go to plan. I treat staff with respect and don't vent my frustrations in public. But in all honesty Telecommunications Australia wide need a reality check! Telstra sure as hell is not the answer! Good coverage yes, but pay through the arse and get treated like dirt!
17 Feb 2011 09:51:38 AM: I agree, Telstra's customer service also has similar problems, you just pay more.
On Optus BYO month to month now: Bought nifty little modem-router from them for $129 and took five tries with store staff to get a satisfactory arrangement. For now, no problems. Best part is NO CONTRACT.

15123 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Super Fail at 2 Feb 2011 05:01:27 PM
I have just finished my contract with 3 and want to cancel it already but nobody seems to answer my call. I was waiting for 30 minutes already when my workmate informed me about Vodafail (you see I was overseas for 3 months so wasn't really aware of this happening). Also, i have got another account this time with Vodafone itself which I will be retaining. Got no option cos I am just 6 months into the contract
2 Feb 2011 10:44:20 PM: Unfortunately it seems like 3 has downgraded their Call Centre to prepare for the Vodafone take over. Visit a store and they should be able to call through for you on their Retail Support line (a lot quicker) and you can then cancel it. They'll need your voice recorded cancelling it so you do need to speak to the call centre.

Though if you want to keep your 3 number, you shouldn't cancel the service. Just go to the provider you want to join, and they will cancel your 3 account for you and port the number over.

15115 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is delayed voicemail at 2 Feb 2011 01:42:45 PM
Over the last 3 months I have regularly received visual voicemail up to two days after the voicemail had originally been left. I have attempted to contact vodafone 4 time about this and some basic intermittent , metro adelaide coverage problems with an average hold time of 45 minutes. the longest time spent on hold was over two hours. I am still seeing the issue occur. My phone is mainly used in Mile end and Adelaide's CBD.
2 Feb 2011 10:48:46 PM: Unfortunately it seems like 3 has downgraded their Call Centre to prepare for the Vodafone take over. Visit a store and they should be able to call through for you on their Dealer Support line (a lot quicker). They will likely need to troubleshoot the phone and SIM and if the error still occurs, they should allow you to transfer to 3 at no cost if you would like. 3 Mobile is still an entirely different network (roams with Telstra) and different Call Centre.

15111 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is No Service in ADELAIDE CBD at 2 Feb 2011 12:54:07 PM
There is NO Vodafone Service in ADELAIDE CBD today 2nd FEB 2011
Their website states there was a upgrade & some people may have lost service - however the website also states this issue has been resolved today at 10.10AEST.

Well it hasn't, its now 2.17pm AEST & there is still "no service".

I rang them & jumped through all their hoops to raise a issue, only to have them say the "service" is being upgraded could be out of order for a couple of weeks & so they gave me a $40.00 credit.
Keep your $40.00 credit just get the "service" up & running that your contractually obliged too.

I was with another carrier and wished i never left. Since being with Vodafone my calls drop out I cant get reception and I cannot download messages from people especially photo messages. The message I keep getting when trying to download the photo message is Generic network failure. I hate Vodafone and when my contract is up I will be returning to the other carrier. Each time I speak to them about calls dropping out apparently I am going through a BLACK SPOT so apparently I am constantly in a BLACK SPOT whatever Vodafone/Vodafail you will always cover your arse and try to waffle us with BS.

I go thru the whole business again and finally connect!!!!!!!! I have tried everything in their Help suggestions for these problems, which still persist! This has been happening since last Oct/Nov. Before, there were no or few problems, usually just poor signal strength.

I just got out of my contract with them and as i haven't had proper service with them for over a year i said i didnt want to be charged any fees to get out of my contract which they agreed too, now i have just been hit with a bill that includes cancellation fees, ive been waiting on hold for 25mins for customer service to tell them that im not paying as i wasnt getting the service i paid for, and im still waiting, this absolutely RIDICULOUS!! Vodafail sounds about right to me!!
2 Feb 2011 10:54:24 PM: Long wait times for customer service are common across all Telcos. 25 minutes does not sound out of the ordinary at all. Patience is a virtue. It's not the end of the world. If you don't like wait times, maybe try calling at another time when the line is less congested.

Vodafone drops out regularly in my house, futher their account balance sms message service appears to be switched off and the 1512 no. does not work due to 'technical problems.' Have rang customer care so much lately for various problems I can't stomach it anymore. The organisation is so bureaucratic it's people on the left side do not know what is happening on the right.

Hi all,
I have recently heard back from Vodafone after complaining to the TIO due to coverage issues.
They have agreed to let me out of my contract 18 months early without having to pay cancellation fee. I suggest if your unhappy like i was that you contact the TIO about your situation.
I only have to pay $38.18 for not returning the handset, as i sold my old one as i thought it was the phone that was the problem at that stage... wrong!

I hope you all make some progress as i did.

What a process! Churned to Telstra on 21st Dec 2010 and then waited for a final account to be sent to me as per usual by snail mail as well as email advisory. No joy until on the 13th of Jan 2011 a 72 hour final demand turns up demanding immediate payment or additional costs will be incurred.
Contacted the Vodafone internal collections (?) number (1300652952) and was told that this is the one and only form of final bill. Talk about dismal communications, this is a typical experience I have had with this company over the last 4 years. Never never never again Vodafone/3..............

I haven't been keeping a record of how bad the service has been but today, for example, I haven't been able to get any internet access using my data plan. The server times out before the pages load. Back home on wifi (telstra) and it works fine. To top it off I got a voicemail message @16:39 for a phone call made to me this morning @9:18. Big fail.

14758 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is 100% Fail at 27 Jan 2011 02:56:21 PM
So after experiencing constant dropouts, coverage fails and delayed SMS (great for when you're on call and the alerting uses sms...) I decided to call and lodge a second complaint.

Midway through my phone dropped out, the vodafone customer service rep called back, but because of the coverage dropout it went straight to voicemail. So far they are escalating to their network team, however this has been ongoing since I took up a vodafail service.

I am now looking at a second service with a different provider as I cannot use my phone reliably for work which is 100% the reason I purchased a smart phone with data.

I don't use the data service as it never works, I don't sync my email as it never works (works for all other users on non vodafone), I miss alert SMS's and have call dropouts.

Thanks Vodafone for the quality service!

Next stop will be the TIO and asking vodafone to release me from my contract.
30 Jan 2011 02:44:05 PM: i bypassed vodafone due to their pathetic service and went straight to TIO. they are now letting me out of my contact and waving the cancellation fee.

Good luck
3 Feb 2011 01:19:11 PM: Third complaint has now been lodged and am approaching the TIO today.
I have slight amount owing on the handset so will be pushing Vodafail to let me pay that and to waive the cancellation fee.

The service for the last two days has been dismal in the CBD and in the suburbs where I live.

No more patience for this.

27 Jan 2011 09:14:50 AM: Escalate your issue to the TIO...Check out the How To Complain link for more information.
27 Jan 2011 09:37:05 AM: Guys, You cant escalate to TIO for anything. the TIO are gonna start getting pissed!. You did the wrong thing by just going ahead and getting a new contract. I mean Yes its a pain how bad the wait times are but you need to try sort out things before you take the leap to another operator. Handset issues are not grounds for contract cancellation. As long as vodafone continue to try and fix your issue with the handset there is nothing they are doing wrong from TIO's perspective. By refusing to pay it all you are achieving is a bad credit rating. Honestly mate your gonna be stuck with this bill now as ill be very surprised if the TIO will help you.
27 Jan 2011 09:43:24 AM: TIO will not get pissed, they are there as a last resort and to try and sort these issues out. He has tried everything with Vodafone, they are unwilling to assist or offer him what they promised, so his next logical step is the TIO.

Give it a go, the worst they can say is there is nothing they can do :)
27 Jan 2011 09:54:08 AM: I cant believe they have not even offered to send it for repair. This is standard process. if you call TIO make sure you tell them they have not offered you a repair. They may not be able to help you out your contract but you will at least be able to get a new phone out of it....which im sure is not really what you want....I suspect you had a Nokia N8? Heard of PLENTY of issues with those babies.
27 Jan 2011 10:04:08 AM: Go to the TIO straight away.
27 Jan 2011 01:03:38 PM: The repair on phones only took effect in Jan 2010, he needs to take it in to nokia to check the N97. I was in the same boat with my N97.

He refused Vodafone's 10% off the bill. That was their help, but was refused, doubt the TIO will help there.
27 Jan 2011 01:32:19 PM: As a customer he has a right to refuse 10% off!!!

Take it to the TIO straight away, the TIO will help.
28 Jan 2011 04:52:54 PM: Actually, unless you want to get some evidence against the TIO, report it to the ACCC.
http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/909293/fromItemId/142
2 Feb 2011 10:58:45 PM: Pretty much what they said. There are policies in place and unfortunately if you blatantly don't follow them, there's not much you can do. Rules are rules.
5 Feb 2011 08:17:01 PM: Legislation should be changed to ensure that phones are implicitly guaranteed for the term of the contract they are sold for.

Been a happy customer for for the last 5 years until 9 months ago. In the last 9 months I have had nothing but problems with Vodafone. Reception at my home has always had 4-5 bars out of 5 bars, in the last 9 months I get 1-2 bars of reception. MMS send with people NEVER getting the MMS. 3G rarely loads at all, always times out regardless of reception strength. Calls take 2 to 4 attempts to connect.
Explained the problems I have with Vodafone shop and they said its the SIM, replaced it and no improvement. Then said its the 3G in my iPhone 3gs. Sent it away under warranty and returned a NEW phone to me, still the same problems with NO improvement. Its YOUR bloody service Vodafone, not the phone.
I can not wait to end my contract in November and move to another carrier as quick as possible.

14646 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Slow brutal fail at 25 Jan 2011 08:52:53 PM
Coverage in North Adelaide is dying a slow death. Have seen a significant drop in 3G data speeds (proven with speedtest.net) and also numerous (2-3 a day) dropped calls, or outgoing calls that just won't connect in the first place (even with 5 bars reception).

It's becoming impractical to use data features due to intermittent service, and quite embarrassing when important calls are dropped.

Are these issues prevalent with the other carriers, or is Vodafone struggling with the increased demand from all these new 3 mobile users?

25 Jan 2011 09:01:59 PM: As best as some of us can tell, The vodafone network is currently not set up to deal with the latest generation of Smart Phones. Basically they are very bandwidth happy, and are always connected to the network. The claim by building a few 850 frequency towers around the joint, that the smart phones will jump on those towers, leaving everyone else for the other towers. But in all honesty I think they are going to need a heap of them before they even have a chance of fixing the problem (imo looking in from the outside).

14577 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Worst network ever. at 25 Jan 2011 11:37:42 AM
I have been with Vodafone for the past 4 or so years for my business. In August this year we re-signed our contract for 10 staff phones for 2 years. About one month after we signed the contract, the network problems started to happen.

I live 10 minutes from the city, and my office is in the centre of Adelaide CBD. Every day on my way to work, as I would reach the city, reception would pretty much drop down to a single bar. Within my office it goes to 'no service'. I need to turn off 3G every time I'm in the CBD. If I forget to turn off 3G, IF I get service, then the call WILL drop out. Data is so slow it's practically unusable. I now leave my phone on 2G, as result I get GPRS data which is so slow it's not worth even using.

I have now gone out and bought a Telstra mobile / wifi unit, so that my iPhone now can use data when I'm not in the office or home, as Vodafone's data network is complete rubbish.

I spoke with my account rep at Vodafone about 2 months ago, and they promised network upgrades would have been completed that week. No change, no difference. When I travel to Sydney or Melbourne, it's equally as bad.

The only time my phone has ACTUALLY worked, was when I travelled to Japan and it was set to roaming, sadly I had better call quality and data talking to people in AUSTRALIA, using global roaming on a Japanese network.

At this point if I could exit Vodafone without an enormous penalty I would move to Telstra in a second.
25 Jan 2011 12:36:34 PM: It would be worth clickng on the How to Complain link on ths site. I think you should be able to get out of your contract penalty free AND be reimbursed for the sim/phone you bought from Telstra, AS WELL AS the injury to your business. That is with the TIO. Also, it is worth considerng the class action against Vodafone.

So it is a big question for customer -- where to go?
Or as a customer we have to live with such poor service.

Sometimes question comes weather we are really living in developed country?

14379 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Maps Are Wrong! at 24 Jan 2011 07:26:31 AM
Vodafone's coverage is not as advertised. Don't believe their coverage maps. If you have an Android phone on Vodafone, please download and use Sensorly to contribute to the real maps, which you can see here:
http://www.sensorly.com/Map/GSM/Australia/Vodafone/gsm-50503

24 Jan 2011 08:03:19 AM: Just a reminder that Vodafail is also collecting coverage and indeed users can interrogate Vodafail's mapping service, check out the Your Coverage tab at the top of the page.
25 Jan 2011 12:41:20 PM: Seems fraudulent to me. I think "deceptive and misleading" informaton or advertisng is something the ACCC would be very interested in, if it was doing it's tax-payer funded job.
1 Feb 2011 07:30:32 AM: Sorry but Vodafail's coverage map is subjective, based on individual perceptions, and will be biased (how many people are going to select 0% coverage just because they're annoyed?). I think it would be much better for Vodafail to promote an unbiased mapping application such as Sensorly or similar that will record coverage in all areas, good or bad.

Both my wife and I are on vodafail, mainly to call eachother for free. I can call her or she'll call me 15 - 20 times and get nothing but voice mail. I eventually call her at home, she'll check her phone is on and say "Vodafone......" We all know what she says! This happens daily, a number of times a day in fact. I can hardly ever send a picture message and often recieve messages at 2 or 3 in the morning, thats not inconvienient! I have 3 small children and am afraid of an emergency situation eventuating where my wife can't reach me thanks to the worse than horrible service being proveded by Vodafone.

14336 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is MEGA EPIC FAIL at 23 Jan 2011 05:15:32 PM
I am currently with vodaphone and up until Vodaphone merged with 3 I never had an issue with them, service was good and I had no problems. In recent months I have had numerous service dropouts and recently I have had my family and friends telling me that calls they make to me are going direct to "this service has been disconnected" not even to voicemail. At the same time my Fiance had issues using her iPad on a Vodaphone prepaid simm in the Adelaide CBD, that's ridiculous, towers everywhere and no signal and I have issues in Kidman park not even 15 mins from the CBD and issues in Woodcroft where I live. A month ago my fiance put in a techincal issue report to Vodaphone and a month later.... NOTHING BACK TO US, so now at this very moment I have been trying to get onto vodaphone to organize a way to keep my number but cancel my contract with no exit fees or crap like that for the hassle the put me thought and what do I get, a guy who has no clue and decided to put me thought to the cancellation which comes up with a message saying, sorry this department is closed and hangs up on me. called back and once more waiting and waiting to make a complain about that and to try once more to organize a way to keep my number on a new network but no fees and I gave up after a half and hour because I have a life outside my phone, but I will keep trying. GOD DAMN ASSHOLES
23 Jan 2011 05:35:05 PM: Lodge a complaint with the tio online, takes three minutes, someone from vodacrap will call you, helps if you make some notes of dates and times of their cock ups, demand nothing less than release from contract, even ask for a part refund for what you have paid, surely they will release you from contract, it worked for me, dont know what optus is like these days, but I went to telstra and it is 21st century sort of stuff, I now actually get what I pay for, I am stoked! Good luck
24 Jan 2011 03:02:35 PM: I do want out of my contract but the thing is, I still want my number, need to deal with Vodafail, to get them to hold off the cancelation until I move to Telstra (Only One I can trust now, I moved from Soul to Vodafail), I have been semi lucky at times, but I am constantly having to turn off and on my phone to get reception, drop outs alot but still have semi good use of SMS.

14229 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Mobile internet is not worth buying t all at 22 Jan 2011 11:19:00 PM
I purchased this Vodafone mobile Internet connection and i am in the middle of a best serviced area (According to their stupid customer service officer). When i started using it, it takes about 1min to go to Google. I kept on using this useless connection for about 1 month experiencing this extremely slow connection.

Also i send 3 Emails to Vodafone customer care and i got automated replies with in 1min saying that the problem is solved but it was not. I couldnt tolerate this stupid behavior of Vodafone anymore and i rang them.

The guy who spoke to me had no idea about what he is doing. According to him i am in the middle of a best serviced area as well but i have to wait about a 1 min to go to Google and much longer to go to any other website. At the same time this guy is giving me instructions to plug the modem to another computer which i did. The funny thing is it didnt changed the speed it was still very very slow and when i type www.google.com.au instead of taking me to google it was going to some some other site which sells computer games.

When i told this to the customer service guy he said try on your computer and i did. Again the same story. Then i asked whether he got my Emails and also gave the reference numbers that vodafone has assign to my inquires, which i got automatic replies as well. The guy searched them in their system and said they havent got them which is ridiculous if they didnt receive them who sent me those replies me.

I wasted my money on this stupid vodafone Internet. As a student living below the poverty line, money they took from me is a lot. I should have spent that money to buy some food.

I think that is standard operating procedure.
All people need is for a Vodafone staffer (present or past) to swear to that, and it starts to look like "intentionally subjecting someone to cruel and unnatural suffering".

14216 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 22 Jan 2011 08:35:28 PM
I live 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and constantly have periods of NO SERVICE which is appalling. My calls will frequently drop out up to five times PER CALL no matter if I am driving, moving, or even sitting in the same place. Sometimes people calling me will not even be able to get through - it just goes straight to my messagebank. I often receive messages DAYS after they have been sent or even NOT AT ALL. I was in MELBOURNE last week and couldn't even get my internet to work at all. I don't think I've ever seen full service bars on my phone - except for in the Melbourne CBD.

I'm sorry Vodafone, but your service is absolutely pathetic and I'm sick of paying for rubbish.
24 Jan 2011 01:18:03 AM: Sometimes I wonder if this isn't some enormous hoax.I just can't work out who would perpetrate it.Who would benefit?Aaah- must be all the telstra shareholders.Well, no, I am one genuinely very angry Vodafone customer, who knows at least 7 people who hated Vodafone before I became a customer. 14171 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is repulsive and inept at 22 Jan 2011 01:36:30 PM
My iPhone stopped receiving MMS, calls drop and i get patches of no coverage in my CBD. I email their support, they auto-resolve my complaint with a bullshit FAQ page, make me reopen my own complaint, then tell me I've contacted the wrong department (via their own online form) and resolve it again. I tell them to forward it if the recipient is too useless to answer. Finally this happens, and they call four hours later than I specified, leaving VM that they'll try again same time next day - because the inept person in the first place couldnt give them the right time. I try to email again to give them the right time, since they won't leave a callback number, and they resolve it with "we're an outbound callcentre."

Thank god I've contacted the TIO. I just want out of my contract...I'm done with their ineptitude.

Despite being in a regional location, I received reasonable reception from Vodafone, although I will occasionally have calls drop out, or go direct to voice mail. However, using the internet through my phone is appalling. I've gone the extreme of purchasing a Telstra Prepaid Wi-Fi device for data access. In my view, Vodafone have sorted their voice/text issues, by switching on 3G out here, but need to lift their game for data.

14085 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Dealers putting in false data at 21 Jan 2011 10:01:44 PM
We were contacted by a vodafone agent a few months ago and offered a new phone on a 2 year plan. The wife said yes and received the phone. The paper work contained fraudulant details, including phone numbers that were supposed to be our home number but was an interstate number, false email addresses and other details. For the month that she had it she was unable to make phone calls the majority of the time. The free 3 months and $10 off per month was not provided as promised and we spent hours on the phone getting this added to our account. That took many phone calls to finally sort out. We also spent hours on the phone on our weekend trying to contact customer service in regards to not been able to make phone calls. On one phone call to customer service they hung up on us after they were unable to resolve our complaint. That was very rude! In the end we went to the ombudsman. So then vodafone called us (I dont know how they managed to get through with their rubbish network), the guy on the phone blamed my wife for the network issues and said that he would send her a simpler phone if she couldnt work out how to use the one she had. In the end we had the contract cancelled thanks to the ombudsman. Stay away from vodaphone!
24 Jan 2011 01:31:02 AM: This is really serious. It really is. And once again, it seems the TIO has helped Vodaphone escape serious legal consequences for their behaviour.

I have been a customer since their inception. Unfortunately I have been experiencing more frequently in the last 6 months to a year, increase in drop outs, even with four or five bars of signal. Delayed sms, sometimes days and also delayed voice mails with no record of the person actually calling, only finding out when I receive their voice message 4 to 5 days later, great when you are expecting job offer calls! I have also suffered at the hands of their support team trying to contact them is not much fun when they keep you on hold for 45mis to an hour then transfer you to someone else, if you are lucky, and then have to re-explain everything again or they cut you off instead.

I have dial up broadband, and it is pretty much unusable at peak hours due to dropping out, slow speed and major latency issues. Not good for playing computer games online. Also I have tried 3 mobile, (which someone tells me is being taken over by vodaphone or already has been) and they are better, but only slightly, the latency is still really high, but at least it doesn't drop out. A friend that works for telstra bigpond says that vodaphone offers really cheap deals but oversells them, and doesn't have the infrastructure to deal with the customers, sounds about right to me.

Mess? More like chaos .. my calls drop out, my phone goes through to voicemail without ringing then the voicemail will take hours (& days) to come through. Yesterday I rang vodafone 5 times in a window of 15 minutes. EVERY call dropped out! I also got fed up with not being able to either understand what the person was saying because their accent was too heavy or they spoke really softly. I got fed up with the voice recognition software not recognising what I was saying. As I'm a business I'm over the poor performance. I find it amusing how the technical help tell me to do the exact opposite of what the shop people do. Between the two of them one sets my phone settings one way and then the other tell me to set it back to what it was. Why can they not agree? Why do they blame my phone?

I knew exactly what it was for but decided to stop him before he launches his spiel and told him I am sorry but I am not interested. Well guess what, the call centre person told me I was a "f@#king stupid moron". Well there goes any hopes of me ever switching to Vodafone. I rang Vodafone to complain as I had the exact time, date and name of the agent. Well of course Vodafone customer care told me they did not have such a name working for them and that it was possibly a vodafone agent! And to my frustration, the person on the phone kept saying it is not their fault as it was not Vodafone but an agent who rang, but funny that at the end of the day they represent Vodafone!

Been a Vodafone customer for over 10 years. Used to work for them in fact. Never had a problem with coverage or my bill and actually believed in the product until 2008. Full spectrum 3G comes in and I live 5 minutes out of Adelaide, can only get "poor" on my modem. My new iphone then loses signal and I get call fail more often than I get calls. I can learn to live with slow internet for a cheap plan UNTIL ALL of the customer care and upgrades is outsourced to India causing a number of problems that only become evident when you are involved in them.
The one I am in now- got the new Iphone 4, it has a giant display fault, (fair enough some of them are duds) Call Customer care. After a 20 minute wait they tell me that I have to talk to another department, another 20 minute wait. This guy tells me that I have to go into a store (the reason I got it over the phone in the first place was so I didn't have to go into a store) and they can send it off for repair for me. I HAVE HAD THE PHONE ON LITERALLY TEN MINUTES and he wants me to send it off for repair. I said no I would like the DOA phone replaced instore once they verify the fault. He says they can't cause store stock comes from a different warehouse than online stock. What a logistical idiocy having a singular company with different warehouses that can't communicate. I tell the guy I am willing to go in to a store for them to verify the fault but I want another one sent out to me.
The after mush of me repeating " I am not happy" they guy says if I get the store guy to put a note on the account he will call me back at 1pm today (adelaide time) and organise a new phone to be sent to me.
It is 2:18pm and I'm sill waiting.
Over the past year I have had hundreds of dollars credited to my bill for overcharges and misdirection of payments to OTHER PEOPLES BILLS. I was disconnected for a month while I had to prove I had made a payment and each person I sent the details to lost them or didn't receive them.
I am glad I left working for a company that I no longer believe in

I have been with Vodafone before Vodafone shops existed, 15 years or so. They have always been fantastic up until the last couple of years. If there is a problem they tell you to take the battery out & the sim & leave it for 5 min as that will fix the problem. I have an I phone, battery is in there for life. You need a key to get the sim out & if its not with that is also a problem. So what the 1st operator suggested didn't work so you ring back. Only to have to go the same procedure. Very frustrating.

So off you go to the local Vodafone shop. I order my phones so I don't have to deal with my local one. She says she has done all these training courses but all she has ever done is stuff mine even further then tells me it's my problem. So then I ring Vodafone data support & hey presto, this person gets it all going again.

As I am an interstate truck driver, I spend alot of time on my phone. The thing that I am noticing is the signal is getting worse. I also have a company phone that is a telstra next g. Its great. It's rarely ever out of range. If I am in south west Nsw & I have my lap top with me, rather than use a dongle, it's better & cheaper to use my phone as a modem.

If I go to victoria I might as well throw the phone out the window. The signal on the dukes highway is rubbish. The sturt highway, which Vodafone got the contract to build the towers, is slowly being wound back on signal strength as it is nowhere near as good as it used to be. If you are travelling on the mallee highway, you might as well forget Vodafone as it doesn't work. Telstra & optus do. You will have no signal for nearly 400km. At ouyen my phone used to go into roaming & swap to telstra. It has not done that for 12 months at least. I guess they didnt pay the bill to telstra & got cut off.

In & around Adelaide the signal strength is appalling in some places. We have to go outside to use our phones. It is getting worse.

Thanks Vodafone. After all these years I would expect better. The customer service people in the call centre is not very helpful.

I am a 3 customer and as far as i am aware vodafone and 3 merged. Since this merger has occured i have had the worst coverage on my phone and my wireless internet. Most of the time i'm either in roaming or at 1 bar in 3g, and it continues to drop out in calls. I go to my mothers house to visit and i have no coverage, but her partner has a telstra account and his is full coverage.
My wireless net access loads up in 3g and automatically goes to HSDPA, and in that mode a simple webpage can take up to 5mins or more to load, let alone a smallish sized app on itunes takes me 3 days to get.

Once my plan is up......i'm gone.

13474 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is SERVICE at 21 Jan 2011 08:32:40 AM
I have been with Vodafone ever since purchasing my first mobile phone (years ago). I consider myself lucky as the only issue I have had over the years is the occasional over charge by a few dollars. Though having seen the issues my partner had when chasing up her new phone and rectifying hunderds of dollars of overcharging I simply hope that nothing does go wrong with my contract. I understand for the purpose of minimising cost that the call centre is based (presumably) in India. This fact alone creates a nightmare when trying to solve any form of significant issue: hold times (astronomical), accountability from staff members, return contact and methods of contact (alternate to phone) are non existant. How Vodafone can literally just accept that they are going to offer this ridiculous level of service is beyond me. I honestly feel that if I ever have a serious issue with my phone / contract that my company have nothing to assist me. We need customer service over the phone in Australia and for the Vodafone stores to actually be able to lend some assistance!!!!

13456 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Epic at 21 Jan 2011 08:25:37 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer for 6 years and when my plan run out in November I (foolishly) tried to renew my plan with one of the latest offers for an iPhone. After nearly 15 phone calls with the usual waiting time I finally got a plan that I wanted and went through the tedious but necessary legal requirements over the phone and was informed that there would be a delay of 2 weeks for the phone to arrive, after already waiting two months this didn't bother me. One Month on I still haven't received my phone, I contacted them yesterday and they told me they have no record of me renewing my plan or that the conversation I had ever took place.
I will be settling my account with Vodafone today and signing up to Optus tomorrow.
I was also extremely courteous and freindly with all Vodafone staff I have dealt with as I understand it is not their fault, this however has got me absolutely no where. Adios Vodafone

I am a 3 customer( which is apparently vodafone), i got a terrible service. I just live only 5 km from CBD(adelaide), still my call drop rate is almost 80%. It is a very bed service. Even outside my home is a very high call droped. I advise anyone not to buy 3 or Vodafone at all.

In an area where I have line of sight to two mobile phone towers and still experience drop outs, failed calls, intermittent and delayed messaging, and VERY slow 3G speeds all in an area vodafone says has great coverage (Suburban Adelaide).
I got the iPhone 3GS on the $69 cap thinking it was a great deal, It would have been better to pay an extra $10 a month to go with Telstra. The Telstra advert highlighting the young couple both using 3G on their phones and one having superior coverage sums up my experiences with Vodafone.
Now my phone has gone to my wife, since work has given me a new one, I am worried if she is in an emergency (i.e. Asthma attack) she won't be able to call for help even in a METRO area!
I have 12 months left on my contract and desperately need to bail to another carrier.
Have I got my $69 worth of value? No. Slow 3G speeds = cannot use my 1GB cap, and intermittent signal = cannot use my $450 worth of calls. Voda definitely fails!

13426 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is lies lies lies! at 21 Jan 2011 08:13:46 AM
after promising coverage at my girlfriends house in Freeing within 3 months... we are 1 year later and still no improvement. there is no signal there at all. Their promises were the reason we both signed up (and that we could get free calls to each other).

After a lot of pressure they released my girlfriend from her contract because of the lack of coverage and she paid out $100 for the phone which she was happy to do. They refuse to release me because even though i made it clear when getting the phone that i would be up at her house a lot of the time (2-3 days a week) i didnt put her address on the form i put my address because SHOCK HORROR THATS WHERE I LIVE!!!!!!

They refuse to let me out of the contract because i didnt list her address even though vodafone misrepresented what they were telling me when i signed up.(on a side note they also lied to my dad about coverage when he signed up 6 business phones with them).

The guy on the phone said "if i go to the shop, find the person who said this to me then call back and get them to admit that they lied to me when i signed up, then i could be released from the contract" WTF!!!!!!

Anyway, added to that i am now on my 3rd iphone because of signal loss and dropped calls which were blamed on the phone, i spent a month paying for the phone and data package for the iphone whist using some crappy basic nokia without internet on it. It was quite obviously a problem with the network not the phone.

Anyway the ombudsman said i have a case and is now investigating.

13260 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is FAILURE FAILURE FAILURE at 21 Jan 2011 07:21:49 AM
Where do I start: Signed up Aug 09 with a Blackberry 9500

Firstly moving to Adelaide city about 1 1/2 years ago, then moving only 20 minutes away from the city to the hills, I only get one bar and majority of the time SOS coverage. I have missed so many phone calls, had so many drop outs in conversations, delayed sms's, internet is not possible. Its ridiculous.

Secondly - back in October 10, I woke up with my phone screen 'App Err 523' and it didn't do anything. Went to the vodafone shop who told me that they will send it away for repairs and provide me a loan phone in the interim. The loan phone was not charged and was given a wall charger only, thus I had to go a day without a phone, as I was on the road driving. A week later I received an sms that my phone had come back. Went to the store to pick it up. It was a brand new phone. I questioned where my phone was, they had no answer. There was no note, no details, no information what had happened to my original phone. I still had important information left on my original phone - which was now gone. My new phone returned to me - had barely enough battery power and when I wanted to send an sms, it would open the internet. When I wanted to make a call, I couldn't dial any of the numbers correctly. When I pressed 0, it would press 3. I returned back to the store. They couldn't fix my phone and said 'we will send this away for repairs'. Another loan phone, another week later. The same new phone returned. This time they gave it to me with no battery power. This 'new' phone would not lock, I couldn't scroll on the screen and I was having the same problems as before. I decided to go into another vodafone store, with all my repair paperwork, they said 'we will have to send this away for repair's'. I said not again - this is the third time. I cant do this anymore. I cant use this phone to it's full capacity and same with the loan phones. I said I believe I shouldn't have to pay for my account this month. I want to cancel my account and I want to speak to a supervisor. She wasn't available and I was yet left with ANOTHER loan phone. A few days later, I received an sms to pick up my phone, yet again. They were unable to cancel my contract as it was still up until August 2011. In regards to my account I had to call a number. She then proceeded to open a brand new Blackberry 9500 box and give me another brand new mobile. They had no answers for me in regards to the previous phone.
I called the number for my account - 6 times. Lara is pathetic and I was on hold too long. I gave up. I still ended up paying my full amount. I was mentally tired by the end of this whole saga which ended up being the whole month of October 09. The amount of time I had wasted, still gets to me.

Thirdly - their set up in there stores is pathetic when you go in there for questions. You wait for a long time, there is hardly enough staff in the stores around Adelaide I have attended. And you stand where ever you can get a spot and risk having other customers who don't take notice of others who had been waiting, pushing in. It's poor service full stop.

Bring on Aug 11 - I cant wait till the end of my 2 year contract, I never will go with Vodafone again and I will be recommending to anyone who will listen - STAY AWAY FROM VODAFONE.
21 Jan 2011 08:23:48 AM: Dude, call the TIO immediately. Theres a pretty good chance they'll override vodafone and get you out of your contract early... I had a similar problem to you with the blackberry, only they gave me secondhand reconditioned replacements instead of brand new ones.

I have been a vodafone customer for almost 15 years, and in the last 6 or so weeks my service has been terrible.

My phone calls drop out, or do not connect, and my internet performance is almost useless.

Upon ringing Vodafone, I was sent through to technical support (after 20 minutes on hold) and was told to re-set my factory settings (which of course blew away all my cache and book marks). Did it resolve the issue, no.

Next, 32 minutes to Customer Support, who wanted to transfer me to technical support (another 20 minute wait). After requesting a call back, I am still yet to receive one, and have now logged a complain with the TIO.

What do I want? The network fixed in the next 2-4 weeks as my phone is part of my work. If not, to be released from my contract to join another carrier. Will I come back to Vodafone? of course, if they release me from my contract, then fix their network.

13106 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Nearly as bad as Telstra at 21 Jan 2011 05:12:03 AM
Recently moved business plans to Voda from Telstra after I couldn't take Telstra's lousy customer service any longer.

Paid the first Voda bill by BPay prior to due date and 1 week later get text messages on both phones saying if I don't pay straight away services will be suspended. First operator was helpful, 2nd had a snotty attitude and said it was for me to contact the bank and chase up payment. All the reference numbers were okay on my receipt and it was shown as leaving bank on day it was paid. I asked why I should be checking with my bank before Voda confirms it's not lost in their system somewhere? Answer was it was not received and therefore must be my bank's problem.

My bank very helpful and started trace which would be one week. Coincidentally 2nd call received by same operator that morning with same issue.

Reported this back to Voda and confirmed services would continue and no late payment fee (very generous considering it was early!) Two days later I get a text saying payment received late and blaming the Qld floods. Two billable work hours wasted on this.

If Voda has infrastructure in Qld involved in recieving BPay payments and there were interruptions to services, why did they not consider this before sending out threat to suspend and then waste 2 hours of my time?

Been with vodafone for 1 year and a half of a 2 year contract. Signal has gone downhill to none :( . I went with vodafone for there great deal with cap and data. Shame I can't use it unless I leave the house and park in the main street of town now! I Can't wait for my contract to finish! Should of never left Telstra!
20 Jan 2011 06:05:25 PM: That is the really bad part of what Vodafone's senior execs have done- driving people back to the duopoly- and you can bet they'll get worse, and be more expensive, and people will just ping pong between them or suffer.
Successive governments and statutory bodies should step in now.

13032 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Stupid. at 20 Jan 2011 12:24:01 PM
Ok.. here goes..

Vodafone cut off my account (i hadn't paid a bill).
Just before this, I'd lost my job. I told vodafone this, and said i'd pay so much a week, blah blah. It was a 49 dollar cap.
They said the best move would be to go to a 114 unlimited cap, so i'd never get a big bill again. I did this, then they cut off my phone.

Few months later, i'd been paying it off, Vodafail referred my accound to NRG Global Solutions (Debt Collectors). Only thing is, they gave NRG my contact phone number: the one they disconnected.

Nrg, when i finally found out what was going on, then demanded about $5000 payment (49 dollar cap pay out would have been approx $1175, $114 cap payout would have been $2735). NRG kindly offered me a 10% discount if I paid on the spot. How nice of them?
Vodafone had not told me they restarted the contract when they changed to a higher cap.

Not knowing what to do, I said i could afford $25 per week, and i'd pay this until it was paid off. I got a job. I changed it to $50 per week, and so on.

NRG told me every time they spoke to me that I would have to pay the full amount, NOW. I said no, (i mean, you can't bleed a stone, right? If i don't have the money, i can't actually pay it), they insisted I take out a loan (after they defaulted my credit file, no one would ever give me a loan again), or borrow it from a friend or family member ('hey dad, can I borrow $5000 to pay off some mean debt collectors?' ...No.)

So, when I was full time employed, I paid their minimum deposit that they demanded before entering a payment plan, and continued to pay off the account.

THEN I discovered the TIO. Ahh, my saviours. Level 1 complaint- vodafone refused to contact me to resolve the issue. Level 2 complaint.. waited, and waited, finally got a call from a lady saying that the acc is cancelled, I owe nothing, however they will keep what I have already paid. Ok, cool. I'm happy with that. They even took the default off my credit file. WOO HOO!

(in the mean time, i'm still getting abusive calls from NRG demanding payment, even though they are well aware the account is in dispute).

Sooo.. a few weeks later, now, here I am, and wow, I look at my debit card statement. NRG have been deducting $101.50 every fortnight, as soon as my pay goes in, they take it out. I hadn't realised. I called them. They said that I had arranged to go into a direct debit. I never do direct debits. I like to see where my money is going. soo... payments were supposed to be suspended 2 months ago due to the complaint, until the account was resolved. they've taken $507.5 without my permission, without me even noticing, when the account had been disputed, and resolved.

Called NRG, they refuse to repay the money. Called the Ombudsman again.. can't get hold of the investigation officer.. grr, just waiting.. VODAFAIL, recall your American annoying abusive debt collectors, make them pay me my money back, and start respecting your customers.
20 Jan 2011 06:23:05 PM: If you haven't authorised those direct debits, or had a court order imposed, Vodafone's agents, if not Vodafone, are in serious trouble.
Not sure of the first place to start- Perhaps Leon Byber at 5AA
20 Jan 2011 06:51:56 PM: Can a court order a direct debit????
14 Oct 2011 04:07:01 PM: I have some questions for you. How did they get your bank account details if you didnt give them to them? They require a signed authority to direct debit and according to you they dont have it. How were you paying your arrangement to them? If the debt was resolved by the TIO then they should have been informed to close the account. You would be entitled to payments made after the date that the TIO / Voda agreed to cancel your account.

Sounds to me like a pile of BS. I bet when you went on the higher plan you received a new handset as well. It would be interesting to know what those payments would be and whether your initial arrangement was going to cover even the basic monthly payment. Lets be clear, Voda dont send good customers to debt collection agencies do they?

13009 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is epic fail at 19 Jan 2011 06:38:42 PM
After successfully using Vodaphone for almost a year (with the exception of dropping in and out and my computer telling me the usb is corrupt) my direct debit payment was apparently "dishonored" even though there was no evidence of any problem from my bank account. This meant i was charged an extra 20 dollars for nothing and my direct debit was cancelled. However i wasn't made aware that any of this had occurred so i now have a built up internet bill because they cancelled my direct debit. When i emailed to ask what the hell was going on i got a reply saying the above problem had occurred and when i asked why this had happened i did not get a response.
20 Jan 2011 05:15:08 AM: i also had the same issue with them amonst many other things. when i spoke to customer service and asked them why i had not been notified they're responce was 'we sent you a text' what a joke no texts are working and when i quiried as to why i have not been recieving my bills... they automatically became defensive and it was not the're problem the responce i got was 'well we send them Australia Post is loosing them' really? every single bill?
When i asked about the so called "dishonour" they said.....well we cannot comment on that if the bank disoners the payment we cannot do anything about it
i was very dis satisfied with my call as everytime i questioned something they became very defensie and rude and blamed everyone and evrything else else bar vodafone..
20 Jan 2011 06:29:14 PM: ICAC free SA - it is actually possible that all those bills have been intercepted.
However, if the money was in the bank, at the time of the expected debit, then first, take it up with the bank. If you have not been hit for a fee for this claimed dishonor, and that is extremely rare, then it looks like Vodafone are lieing- what a surprise.I think you bank would be the first step.

I bought a phone outright with Vodafone as I was in between contracts and undecided where I should go next (definitely not Vodafone after this). I purchased the phone from BIG W at Gawler (Northern edge of Adelaide Metro area), yet, I had 1-bar of signal (and often dropped out) in Gawler and NO signal whatsoever in my town (which is 3kms out of Gawler). Why would a product be sold in an area which wouldn't work? -_-
20 Jan 2011 06:35:11 PM: Well, you can expect that of Vodafone- not of Big W.
Then again, selling a Vodafone phone anywhere is questionable, because Vodafone seems to barely work anywhere.
Initially, try Big W- they've had a very good returns policy in the past, and may appreciate the info on Vodafone, in order not to have more unhappy customers.
The next step would beTIO, Office of Fair Trading

Hi, I'm just here to advise all our Vodafone customers who are upset with our fantastic products and services to stay with us. Please give us another chance, we are taking our time attempting to somewhat resolve the national UMTS network issues via adding more GSM towers. That will alleviate capacity, since Vodafone has an strong client base of about 4.5 million highly satisfied customers and counting. Our merge with 3 has boosted our client base even further to about 7.5 million+, proving that Vodafone Australia is clearly the best option for a provider. You shouldn't be unhappy about our state-of-the-art Lara voice menu because she will provide you with all the transfers you need, including a bonus of up to 3 hour wait times, countless hours of exclusive music on hold, and the typical call cut off when you need it. We even conveniently provide no call back option since we don't want you calling back about how fantastic we are. Not only that, we have specifically poured our vast investment into Lara's voice recognition option so you all can enjoy a aggravating experience. We hope you believe she is a human, complete with our finishing touch of fake keyboard typing noises when she handles your account recharge or status. Included with the plans are super generous offers. I'm another disgruntled customer putting up with almost no signal and slow data speeds. I'm in the process of leaving Vodafone, which we all should do, should we have these pathetic problems for weeks unfixed. The TIO will need to help us get out of Vodafone's illegal contracts. - @ Vodafail.com/mod: As suggestive feedback for extra useful statistics on Vodafail.com, I think there should be a rating bar of 0-100%, in a section known as 'Rate Your Pain', on this site so we can rate how angry or upset we are. That section should include check boxes for if we are still angry and if the problem remains unresolved. It should also include a dropdown box for choosing how long we have been having this pain (days, months, weeks, etc) and how long it took us to cancel our contracts, accounts, etc. A rudenessmeter may be necessary for us to rate how rude Vodafone has been depending on the situation. The 'On Hold Again?' section should include a dropdown box for us to choose the number of times the call centre has cut us off per day, the number of times our calls dropped per day when we call other people, the speed rate we are currently experiencing for 3G (0-1500+ Kbits per sec, for 3G anything below 300 Kbits per sec or about 38 KBytes per sec is just pathetic), and a textbox for us to briefly note the lame responses the call centre employees give us (for eg. 'We have technicians at the site and the network issues will be fixed by the end of this week.' These comments can be placed into categorised list, like the topic categories in Share Your Pain. It would be amusing to see which responses are most often heard from the call centres daily). A voluntary textbox for noting down the suburb where the customers are currently experiencing network issues may be necessary for further informative feedback, so we can see where the problems are and perhaps avoid those areas. A lyingmeter may be necessary for us to flag how many times the call centre or VHA staff lied based on us reporting their usual responses as is, in both the textbox for sharing call centre employee responses and the Share Your Pain section. All this may seem like we are doing an audit for Vodafone's network problems (which I strongly think Vodafone should be doing themselves), but if we actually provide enough information here, we can better inform eachother as well as other people about these issues. I believe the Share Your Pain is an excellent section for us to express our complaintful opinions and experiences of the Vodafone issues. The call centre is like a brick wall. At least here, there ARE Australian multicultural human species that can understand our problems. Cheers.

It has just taken me over an hour to connect. I have USB wireless internet on PC and can rarely connect. Signal strength always very poor. Takes ages to load a page and randomly disconnects. Everytime I manage to get on the internet, I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach waiting for the next drop out of the connection. I used to enjoy surfing the net and now it is a traumatic experience everytime.

12749 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is apparently 'fantastic' at 16 Jan 2011 11:28:50 AM
I just called Vodafone technical support moments ago and this is what Lara told me before she cut me off: "OUR 'FANTASTIC' PRODUCTS AND SERVICES ARE CAUSING SO MANY BUSY CALLS TODAY. PLEASE CALL BACK LATER ON." "FANTASTIC"?! Vodafone if there are so many customers calling technical support, I don't think it's fantastic. Your network services are actually spastic. Get it right. I think Lara is having serious issues at attempting to allocate her several stupid generic responses. I have almost no 3G reception since the beginning of Jan, near adelaide. 2G is even slower...Vodafone is dead. Let's arrange a funeral for this appalling business.
16 Jan 2011 08:19:51 PM: *Cringe*

A friend and I were having a coffee yesterday.

- Both own an Iphone 3G

- My friend is with Optus

- I am with Vodafone

- Both show 5 bars signal strength

- Simultaneously we type 'www.news.com.au' then press 'GO'

- His Iphone using Optus loads in approximately 5 seconds

- Mine, with Vodafone, still nothing displayed after more then 1 minute.

Would someone from Vodafone please like to explain? It has been like this in Adelaide since September!

12723 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is watching the world go by at 16 Jan 2011 01:04:10 AM
It has been a month of utterly shit 3G/2G signal and speed where I live, east of cbd. (Sigh) I can't reach vodafone support properly. Their website states nothing about the state of network towers in SA. Lara is a retard and not helping. Vodafone has not done anything about their retrograding infrastructure. Vodafone makes many customers feel like crap, worse than or as other telcos. Nigel Dews is doing shit all. (my general assumption and opinion) The infinite caps are making the network even more obliterated. I hope potential customers don't switch to vodafone. The indian call centre is for the vodafone in india, not australia. Tossing our calls overseas to india will not save costs, but cause more pain. Vodafone Australia seriously needs an Australian call centre. They also need to abide by the law and provide a service that works when they sell products to new customers. They also must promptly fix a service should it be broken nationwide. Vodafone Australia ultimately needs to go through and revise all 12000+ complaints on this site. They also need to revise through the plethora of issue threads in Whirlpool forums. However, they are ignorant. I don't think vodafone australia has any contact with their indian call centre. That call centre is a sidelined relic. The merge with 3 has not shown any positives since both provide the generally similar plans. Trying to gain market share by merging is just pathetic. If VHA think they can combine their $millions cash investment into their network to alleviate expenditure, then I don't see any evidence of them 'improving' their network over the past year. Nigel Dews, can you please tell us what on earth is going on with the company's network services. (he denies any issue at all) 15000+ customers signup to class action lawsuit and this vodafail site launches skyhigh into the heavens. (he automatically apologises with an attitude like Lara and tries to gain good public relations) We find that he lied to us that the network is all fine but its actually fkd. We wonder why vodafone has done nothing about the network. (he too, remains silent, aside from his dogmatic statement that the network will be upgraded and the service will be even better apparently.) I guess those 'upgrades' are disrupting the services so badly to the point many customers find it unusable. The CEO seriously needs to review the company's mission statements if there are any left. This failing network is taking long to recover and any upgrades should not sever our services for extended periods. And Vodafone's slogan 'power to you' needs revising. These days it seems that Vodafone has the power to do nothing. Luckily we customers have the power to leave. However, vodafone has the power to hinder us from leaving. Luckily again, with the help of TIO we have the power to leave without penalty. All I can say is thanks vodafone, for giving us extraordinary powers. It would be even better if they conserved their power for resolving their service...nuff said.

Have wireless usb modem. Cannot keep an internet connection for more than a few minutes and have never seen signal strength at more than 'very poor'.
15 Jan 2011 10:45:18 PM: Same here. Wtf has happened to voda network for weeks? They arent even resolving anything.
16 Jan 2011 03:05:01 PM: I too am in SA and have the exact same problems - VP signal and drops out ALL THE TIME. I am in Kilkenny - 10 minutes from CBD.

12697 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Epic at 15 Jan 2011 11:47:51 AM
Originally with 3 mobile on my Mobile broadband, and with voda on a prepaid, all was well in the coverage and speed front. Then they merged and all went to the dogs. I was conned into beliving that the merge would increase the network speed and coverage so I signed up on a mobile phone contract with vodafone. 2 month of shit coverage (i had to manually switch my phone all the tome between GSm and 3g manually depending on where i was, and an ever slowing 3 mobile connection, i was told that i can switch my 3 mobile broadband to voda mobile proadband - and that that would solve my speed issues because more money was being invested in the vodafone side of things. So i figured a freww switch i could handel.

Now I have no connection to mobile broadban and shitty mobile phone coverage. My mum is in the same boat and my girlfriend too. Time to call consumer affairs i think.
2 Feb 2011 11:04:44 PM: Actually the merger has zero relation to network issues on Vodafone. The networks are both entirely different

I have recently field tested vodafone vs telstra. Both full reception on iPhone 3GS in the same place and attempted to load the Facebook home page as the full site. Telstra had completed this task in 28 seconds. Vodafone? 13minutes! You are a complete joke and an embarrassment vodafone. You need to step up your game or find something else to do.
15 Jan 2011 10:19:57 AM: Agreed. Those who are experiencing crap service for at least a few weeks and are not on contract, should leave to another telco at this rate. Those who are experiencing crap service for weeks and are on contract, should tell TIO (in how to complain section here) so that they can get you out of the contract fairly without penalty.

12680 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is FAILING AND FAILING AND FAILING... at 15 Jan 2011 12:26:22 AM
I have been using vodafone mobile services for several months. Back then the product and network was fine. Until a few months ago, the network became poor quality and it has stayed that way for a long time. I, like many customers, was not aware that vodafone's network would fail suddenly in the upcoming months and not be resolved with urgency. I'm stuck on my contract for many more months knowing there is a remaining cost that I would have to pay if I choose to get myself out of this hell. Yes, I could contact TIO to help me exit the contract with no penalty, but here's the catch. Vodafone states that they are doing network tower upgrades over the next few months. However, they don't specify when such areas will be affected and when it will be completed for those areas. Stating when with where is very important when advising customers about vodafones apparent effort to upgrade towers. We never know that many of these network issues could be a result of tower maintenance. Unfortunately, vodafone's website does not detail network tower upgrade times/dates (only outages and upgrade locations are shown), so we are left uninformed and we begin complaining about persistent network problems. This obviously means that vodafone are not upgrading their towers with any urgency at all. Retarded as. Heres another notion. Some journalists wrote their hard opinions that we customers are all at fault because we could've chosen another telco and that we are lazy whingers. Thats lame. We are not entirely at fault because the law states that a business' goods and services must be fit for the purpose they are sold. Not the case with vodafone. We cannot predict such sudden mishaps with the network, so many of us are in contracts we had a while back before the ongoing crap, having to whinge our way through the poor customer support and TIO to even end them. Why? Because the network has been broken for an extended period and neglected by vodafone for a while. Don't blame us for whinging as the company is ignorant. Vodafone staff, don't stress or feel hurt over our aggravated state, just deal with it since the company you work for is ACTUALLY giving us shit at the moment. Most telcos solve SERIOUS issues like these with URGENCY. But vodafone is just acting too slow or not at all. With nostalgia, I wish vodafone was as good as it used to be when I enjoyed their services. Now it's remaining fallen, most of us won't wait forever for them to fix this crap. Most importantly: a happy customer supports a prosperous business and a reliable service brings caring customers. Vodafone have lost that and they need it urgently, don't you all think? -W.
15 Jan 2011 01:01:33 AM: I saw that article and comments calling us "lazy whingers. " How much research do you have to do on a company that is allowed to trade in Australia, and you're aware of a TIO and an ACCC and an ASIC and you're assuming they are each doing their jobs, before you get a sim card with that company? And then, do you also need to research the TIO,ACCC and ASIC? Probably yes. Most people are aware there is hypebole in advertisements- we thought there were penalties for deceptive and misleading practices. If you remind me where I saw it,I'll go back and post what I've just written there, or you can.
Yeah, I remember when Vodafone seemed good- when they seemed innovative, and just a little bit hungrier because they were new.Initially,I actually couldn't understand why friends seemed so glad to have left.

12633 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is not sorry to say that they are lost and their network is down at 14 Jan 2011 02:21:46 PM
By looking at everyone's agony here, it looks like Vodafone Australia will soon set a 2011 Guinness World Record of being the worst telco giant ever as of yet. I work in a small business and need the portability of mobile broadband. I only have 0-1 bar 3G signal, for weeks on end at torrensville. WTF is up with their crusty network towers? Did they turn the 3G function all off to save costs or did they execute an Australia wide armageddon against their network towers? I can't even recognise the difference between GPRS and 3G anymore. Perhaps, in the most appalling circumstances, Vodafone and 3 are still deciding on who should be what role in management. A year later, they are still hopeless at merging. They just leave some of their employees with redundancy packages, while we customers pay them monthly faithful to the contract, waiting (and still waiting as I post this) for them to fix their reason for existing. Vodafone is meant to provide mobile services rather than provide a bunch of loser statements online about what they 'plan to do' when they don't. They should just 'do it' for cryin' out loud and stop lying to us. Honestly, they lack honesty. Unreliably, they lack reliability. I would waste my words saying that but as of yet, Vodafone's service is shit. Because I'm drowning due to Vodafone's broken speeds, I'm going to catch a life boat and be rescued, at NextG speeds thank God, by Telstra.
14 Jan 2011 04:47:07 PM: There is no 3G/speed guarantee anywhere that I can find. You must be mistaking them for another carrier.
14 Jan 2011 06:00:04 PM: RE to above: wake up to reality. This is vodafone and 10kbps is not 3G speed even though it says 3G AND torrensville is covered in 3G zone. Having shit speed like that for weeks is not on. Don't make assumptions that the guy mistakened vodafone for another carrier because its true that Vodafone guarantees 3G speeds for a majority of the time in a 3G area. Check the Vodafone website.
14 Jan 2011 07:15:02 PM: 06:47:07PM is a guaranteed loser, despite vodafails bluff with the wording of contracts, there is government legislation which overides the bulldust, and the legislation (LAW) states "goods must be fit for the purpose they were sold for"
16 Jan 2011 07:14:43 PM: 9:15:02 that relates to your phone mate not the network. Only Optus provides a 30 day guarantee of service.
