Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

Calls going to voicemail directly even though I have full reception. Also I have turned off Voicemail about 5 times and it just still keeps sending messages to voicemail. What the hell is going wrong at Vodafone? It even makes Optus looks good (if I can use that as benchmark)

I am in the fortunate position of not having been a Vodafone customer for several years. I ran away when I had to speak to Lara. I cannot imagine a more infuriating, frustrating and futile waste of people's time than this absolutely pathetic IVR system. Just thinking about it makes me wonder at the insanity of this decision - honestly how much money did they think they were going to save? THey've lost thousands over the past 3 years by not having me as a customer and I'm sure there are many more out there. With the telco I'm with now (3), when I phone the call centre I speak to a human. Yes a real, live human. Yes I know they are in India somewhere but honestly I don't care, at least they speak to me like a human, can listen and adapt the conversation and actually solve my problem and answer my question not like some stupid robot. I SWEAR THAT IF THREE START USING LARA THEY WILL LOSE ME IMMEDIATELY AS A CUSTOMER. Just letting y'all know. Hopefully there is someone out there in telco land who is hearing this.

i have an iphone. just checked the supposed service coverage for my region, and vodafone's site reckons that i have 3g connection constantly.
explain then why every two seconds my coverage is dropping out and i'm being told my network's been lost?!

I cannot get the internet to work in Townsville.
If i go to brisbane it works, but it wont work north of brisbane!

also had major excess fee's when i went on holidays to new zealand, after confirming 3 times with vodafone before I went away there would be very minimal. They completely lied and charged me hundreds of dollars and i cant do anything about it.

I was Vodafone prepaid customer for more than 2.5 yrs until I switched to Postpaid plan. The day I recharged my Vodafone for $79 I signed up for the plan, I was not informed by Vodafone dealer at Warringah mall that my $79 credit would vanish if I move to plan and I wrote an email to Vodafone and I have not heard back (nothing new here).

After ordering an iPhone 4 from vodafone, there were hundreds of screw ups - their end - with couriers, shipping and bills. For some odd reason, 3 weeks after I had received the initial iPhone, I was sent another one. I've given this to my brother as I had no use for it. When he tried connecting it in store, they claimed he had stolen the phone as the sim card was registered to someone else... a bit rich, considering he'd opened the iPhone box in store with the salespeople looking. Has this - the sim card shipped being registered to another person - happened to anyone else before?

11 Jan 2011 08:13:30 PM: Actually, once I'd received the second phone I phoned Vodafone to see why on earth I'd gotten it. They said that it was a replacement for the one that hadn't gotten sent that I'd phoned about (which I'd gotten). I told them I had gotten number one, they said that both were now mine to do what I wanted with.

well it strats with getting no reception in my house secondly i complaind about it so i went to a vodafone store. I have an Iphone they told me to go to the apple store. so i did. Apple told me my phone is fine its a network issue. so i went back to vodafone and told them its a network issue. They couldnt give me and answer and told me to call their customer service. is was on hold for an hour an half. i just hung couldnt be stuffed waiting. i went away on holidays and my phone was stolen. i tried ringing vodafone to report my phone was stolen it took 13 etempts to contact them then when i finally got through after a 4 hour wait. i get a F@#&*% indian lady on the phone who cant understand me nor english.

I went into a store to get a new phone they cant help me i spend alot of money with vodafone i need my phone for my business. they told me there is nothing they can do. so im stuck in a situation i really want to get out of my contract and go to either optus or telstra.

I got the worst service the other day from vodafone, my girlfriend dumped me over the phone and i couldn't hear her properly so i went to her house and it was really awkward. im enraged with anger and would like my money back and the rights to keep my iphone 4 and UNLIMITED texts and calls TO ANYONE in australia, for what's that only 80$ a month!!!! contact vodafone TODAY on 1300 650 410!

14 Jan 2011 05:20:18 PM: Hi! You made me l.o.l. but at the same time I empathised with you. I feel sorry for you for having to go through extra pain because the network failed you. It must be bad enough getting dumped, let alone not hearing why you are being dumped, because of stupid vodafail. Vodafail caused me to have problems with my ex. I accused him of not calling when he did, accused him of not sending me texts, only for them to arrive days later, he accused me of not sending him texts or ringing when I did. We both thought each other was lying. Then one came through while we were together that he'd sent days earlier, as did about 6 other messages that had been backlogged. We had also argued over whose phone we thought was at fault. But it wasn't our phones, it was the incompetent network. Thanks Vodafail for causing me relationship problems!

Consistantly have low or no coverage in both Hamersley & Edgewater, was told by staff instores the coverage is fine for these areas,
Insurance isn't worth having, Iphone was going to cost an additional $280 to get the power button looked at!

Goodluck finding reception and if you do, good luck keep hold of it. Continously drops out during calls, especially important ones (like they know that there important and drop out on purpose FFS). If lets say the previous remark does happen to you and you decide to call vodafone thats just plain LOL. Plain and simple.

I run a small business. Switched to VF 4 weeks ago. Now have no reception at home and for most of my drive in to work. For the record, these areas are meant to have standard coverage. I work on my own a lot of the time and rely on my phone for safety as well as being in contact with clients. Have had lots of calls dropping out, and have so far had 4 crossed lines if that is possible with 2011 technology!! Phone usually shows reception until it is picked up - reception falls as soon as screen is swiped or call answered. Have had to take out pre-paid with another carrier in order to keep business going. NOT HAPPY.

I have such poor reception that if I don't stay in the one spot when on the phone the call drops out and often it takes quite a while to even get one or two bars of reception. In one place I lived, I actually had to go for a walk because I had no reception at all. I thought it was just me, this website proves me wrong! I need to look for an alternative.

Back on the 4th of September 2010 I upgraded my phone contract and as a result, became a vodafone customer.

The short version of the ever so long saga is...
I was told my iphone 4 would take 1 week to arrive, after 3 weeks still waiting, and several lenghty, on hold, phone calls I was told it was due to the large volume of customers. The phone then got delivered to the wrong address (somewhere in Sydney,I live in Melbourne) and signed for after now waiting over 4 weeks total.

This was when the real problems began. Vodafone started the new service on the new contract despite me informing them I didn't have the phone, I didn't even have a sim card for this new service...hence I was now not able to receive or make calls on my current phone. As I was heading overseas this was an issue, one they said they couldn't fix until I had posession of my iphone 4.

Instead of prioritising my case and sending me a new iphone, they tried to recover and resend the original one. This was such poor and inefficient service, too ridiculous to even justify. 2 more weeks went by and despite my attempts to with the customer service line, I kept getting different representatives who I had to go over every detail with again and again. My longest time on hold was 88minutes! Each time I was promised 2-3 more business days and my phone would arrive. 2 more weeks passed so we are up to 8 weeks waiting for my iphone 4 to be delivered and battling with a 1990 loan phone... I had had enough! I wanted the contract dissolved and wanted to be done with voadafone forever! When I demanded this be done I was put on hold for another 40 odd minutes before a new "supervisor" came onto the phone and told me I could go into a shop (4kms from where I live)and pick up a handset, pay for it and get them to connect it on the spot. Hooray was my intial reaction as in the coming two weeks I was sending 200 staff and students overseas to four different destinations and I was the emergency contact! I left the shop and was told by morning, my service would be connected.

Of course it wasn't and being a long weekend apparently there was nothing that could be done. MORE WAITING!! In the new week, again, several lengthy times spent on hold to the call centre occured and I was told that during the transfer of my number to the new service, there was a data error/computer glitch and my number got "stuck". I was told it would take 2 business days to sort out.

By now my job performance and reliability had been affected and the personal stress was totally absurd. It took 2 more weeks for them to "un-stick"/recover my number and finally on the 11th of Novemeber (10 weeks after signing up) and two crappy laon phones later, I had my phone in my hand and my serivce connected.

As the whole saga was just absolutely appauling, unprofessional etc I asked vodafone how they intended to compensate my for the trouble they had put me through. They offered me 3 months free, which I accepted. But of course I am now battling with them now as they are billing me, charging me for the iphone that I have already paid for and due to the incompetent notes on my file I am having to explain it all again. My last correspondance with them was through a vodafone store where the real life service agent and I spent 79 minutes on hold with them trying to get my billing issues sorted. Not even going into a shop gives you the right to quality customer service...what a joke of a company!

How anyone can operate a business like this is beyond me, I can't wait til my contract is done, I have told all of my friends to steer away from vodafone or any voafone carrier and I myself will never have anything to do with them again!

Where to start? Ive been on my contract for approx 10months. Since the very beginning, Ive had lost txt messages, "call connection failure" drop outs, no reception etc. So the resolution? Call their customer service apparently because in store vodafone staff have NO CLUE what they are talking about and are useless.
So you call, and call, and call, and call, get an investigation that never gets completed, call back, call back, call back.
Then finally get through and leave your number for a call back. Nothing. So you call back call back and call back. THEN you get hung up on twice, disconnected 4 times and then you cant get through when you once again... call back!! So disgusted in the lack of professionalism. You would think that with all the media covergae of them lately theyd be more careful in how they treat their customers. DISGUSTING

Always receive sms messages several days after it was originally sent to me. When I send a SMS, my friends receive them several days later.

Most of my calls go directly to voicemail as I hardly ever have reception, however I do not get alerted until several days later that I have a voicemail, and it is always too late by then!

Very poor reception - when I changed over to Vodafone from 3, I was told that they are the same company. However, I've realised that they are not. Vodafone does not have any roaming coverage, whereas 3 does. Last weekend I took a drive 180kms S/E of Melbourne, and was totally out of signal for most of the time. Are they the same as 3, I think not.

I saw that Vodafone could go under due to all the problems.

Originally I was with 3, however, the area which I live in has zero 3 coverage, but the guy who signed me up knew that my area had no coverage, and still suggested that I upgrade to a higher internet quota - which I foolishly did. Then every time my bill came around, I'd be slugged with anywhere between $70-$250 extra for the internet coverage I was supposed to be getting. After phoning up EVERY month complaining about the problem, they switched me to Vodafone. Man, that was probably the worst move of my life. Vodafone has THE WORST coverage of any service provider I've ever dealt with. The internet is slower than an 80-year old in a walking frame. Just a horrible, horrible company. If I had the money to get straight out of this contract, believe me, I would.

Well, where do I start??? I have just finally connected to my vodafail wifi broadband internet, after several days and several times being hung up on from customer care! I only signed up on contract within the last month for this "broadband" wifi after having a useless USB wireless internet through vodafail...

Now onto the phone reception... I receive text messages several days after they were sent. Receptients receieve my text messages several days after they were sent. I have never seen a 3G icon on my phone, even though my street is on the map as having 3G coverage...

There is plenty more I could complain about, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time with this useless company!

very marginal reception in Culburra Beach, NSW. Called Vodafone and advised that reception "should" be good there. I have a tri band phone that can pick up 3G, GPRS, etc but still drops out or has no coverage in my street.

Very poor coverage, email accessible accounts from the phone all had passwords removed, date and time were reset 4 days and roughly 4 hours ahead of real time on Jan 3rd 2011, as of today email contact from vodafone.au is 'not currently available'

We are a building company and vodafone does not provide coverage for the suburb that we are working in for the next 14 months...vodafone (after many frustrating efforts) agreed back in November 2010 to cancel our mobile broadband plan and guess what? We are still being charged for it. Have contacted their "customer care" dept via email (attaching their email confirmation that the account is to be cancelled) and no response 5 days later...HELP!!!

I recently called customer service from the airport to double check my international roaming was on before going overseas.. the man who answered the phone could hardly speak any english but the words "call back in 24 hours me no english"..i couldnt believe what i was hearing.. i was calling vodafone customer service.

I hung up and called back again to get another man who could speak a little more english then the last guy.. he checked all and and said it was on..as I has expected it to be on..

Once arriving overseas I had no coverage at all.. thus not being able to have regular contact with my kids or for any emergencies..
On arrival back into Australia I went to the vodafone store and asked why this happened.. they check and said she global roaming is and has always been on, we can texplain why it didnt work best to call custmoer service...hmm

I called customer service and the lady said " i dont know why you should have called us when you were overseas from your phone" ??? yeah right..

Very very disappointing.

after having been given the run around by their so called customer service for over an hour, the last person i spoke to suggested that perhaps i should purchase a pre-paid sim from telstra or optus to use and have my calls diverted to that number until they can sort out my network issues!

I have been with vodafone for 6+ yrs, and until about 6 months ago have never had issues either, but mine are minor compared to some of the stories i have read.
To those that say, "cheapskates, u get what u pay for", i am paying the same amount as my partner and get less call value for it, so how is that being cheap?
I emailed to tech support about the few coverage issues less than 2 weeks ago, and altho i missed the call, they have contacted me back to try and sort something out. I have also changed handset in the last week which has helped alot, so maybe most of mine were due to my fone. Dont know.
Good luck to everyone with problems, and i hope u get urs sorted asap

Where to start.....the last 12 months I have been trying to get a proof of purchase from Customer Service and STILL to date have not received it. My phone is now not working and yet again can not get it fixed by insurance as i don't have a copy of the purchase. The last week I have been on the phone or should i say getting dropped out or experiencing problems with vodafone and still have not spoken to somebody. I have had a gut full....no working phone, paying a bill for what i don't know. I really hate vodafone!!! looking forward to my contract ending but am at the point where i feel i will just go to another provider and let them chase me for the bill...then keep the phone dropping out on them and tell them that I'm experiencing problems or better yet have them wait 2 hours on the phone to get some money. Not happy at all with the lack of help....customer service ha ha is a JOKE!!!

I have cancelled my contract with vodafone due to poor customer service. I lodged several complaints and not one was answered, nor acted on in any manner at all.

They have since advised me of a $496 bill which I will not be paying for cancelling my contract 6 months early.

Also, their insurance process is completely rubbish, and excess is extremely high.

I will never use Vodfail again!!!

Was complaining about 4 phones which I have and how text messages were duplicated over a dozen times for four days. All phones ran out of credit in 6 days from purchase, which would normally see us through an entire month. When speaking to a Representative from BOMBAY or wherever the hell in India she was, I was asked to document EVERY SINGLE TEXT ON EVERY SINGLE HANDSET AND HOW MANY CHARACTERS WERE INVOLVED. For god sake, can ANYONE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD DO THIS while on prepaid with no itemised billing????? And even with a bill and logged dates and times, could you seriously be expected to remember word for word everything you spoke about over a 4 day period. It was an obvious 'Brush Off'. The end result, an offer of $10 credit. Considering you spend $49 for a few hindred dollars credit, worked back it was approx an offer of around $1.50 - $2.00 from there DEEP DEEP POCKETS. You genourous P*****

I live in Sydney metro.There are no many blind spots around north ryde and lane. If i stand at the corner of lane cover rd and wicks rd there is ZERO recepton. if I am on a call and drive through this corner .. I call drops out.

Also the data speed is terrible. I have4 GB allowance and when i start downloading stuff form HTTP sites, Vodafone either blocks or slows my down so the download fails.

sometimes I have to call the same number 10 times to get a connection otherwise I can get connection error.

I have been with vodafone fone for 14 years now ..maybe its time to move on

NETWORK STATUS with vodafail is ZERO!!! and has been alllll day. Ok, yes there are floods, but all other networks are fine. I live in Stretton, Brisbane. I have had NO choice with the poor reception in the last few weeks, but to get a prepaid with Savvytel, which uses the Optus network, and shove it in an old mobile phone of mine. I now carry two mobiles around, because of vodafails failures. Reception with Savvy is always through the roof perfect, and doesn't matter how flood affected we are.

I'm living in Qld, flood zone areas (which is everywhere). Been trying to make calls to family and friends to let them know I'm okay. Cannot connect or call anyone. Finally got connected to customer care, went through a bullshit automated service only to hear some bullshit initially that my privacy is secure (which it isn't) and then get cut off for technical difficulties. Then after calling again, I heard another message saying that there are problem in Queensland.... PEOPLE ARE DYING VODAFONE!!!! might want to get your act together. Imagine that... dying because your vodafone sim couldn't connect to emergency services. Thank god I'm in a safe area for the moment... God help those who aren't and are with Vodafone

My girlfriend and I subscribed to the $49 dollar mobile internet service. It worked perfectly, but after a month, slowed to dial up pace, if not slower. the connection was always poor. after 2 weeks, we called vodafone to be told it was a problem with the towers, 2 weeks later we were told it was fixed, 2 weeks later our internet still didn't work, 2 weeks later, we asked for a refund. a refund? thats out of the question for vodafone isn't it. 3 months free internet was their solution, a solution which even the simplest minded person would see the problem in. why would I want free internet that does't work in the first place! ive since switched to a different internet provider and 3 months after the original problem began, it still hasn't been fixed.

I asked how this happened and they said its because i switched to an 'iphone' - even though i was on a datacap with my old nokia N97 so go FIGURE. . .I wrote a letter requesting 'further particulars' on that particular month because i refuse to pay it . .. 13 months later. .. i'm still waiting.

The best thing about vodafone for me was that when everyone else started moving their tech support to India, vodafone retained customer care in Australia. People were easy to understand and had a more can-do attitude. It saddened me when they went to India a couple of years ago. I knew it would be downhill from there. Now it's just awful.

I cancelled an iphone plan and was let out with no trouble due to lack of reception. However, they required me to return the phone to them using the express post parcel bag provided, which was fine. Except that the bag didn't come. about a week later, I had to call to chase this up, apparently the bag was never sent, so they said they would mail a new one that afternoon, I checked they had the correct address, which they did and everything seemed fine. However, I then started receiving bills from vodafone trying to charge me for the iphone handset that I was meant to be returning to the value of almost $1900. I called them back. This time I was told not to pay the bill and that a bag would be express posted to me. This went on for over 3 months. THREE MONTHS! to the point where it has affected my credit rating and I had letters from debt collectors trying to get the $1900 from me. I called vodafone several times during this period, and was told repeatedly to wait for the bag they were once again going to send out. I asked if I could pay to send the bag myself, they said no. I asked if I could return the phone to a retail vodafone store, they said no. I didn't want the iphone, I wasn't using the iphone, yet they were still trying to charge me while they were the ones delaying sending me the bag to return the phone.
I ended up calling the ombudsmun.
Eventually the bag arrived, I returned the phone, yet I was still being harrassed by vodafone and a debt collector because vodafone had failed to put a note on the account.
The service I received was absolutely terrible, and I now have a tarnished credit history due to their negligence. I will never ever be dealing with vodafone again and am encouraging all my friends to leave vodafone also.

Another problem, I received a call saying my I phone 4 would be here on the 7th, it still isn't here and they have taken me off my black berry plan to put me on my new plan, thus now I cannot receive emails and do day to day business I am normally supposed to do on Vodafone. You have stuffed me about today and it isn't the first time! By god as soon as I get through this hour and a half waiting queue you will here it from me!!!

We have had two vodafone mobile phones for two months (around about). We were aware we had not received a bill. i have had trouble accessing the vodafone site on computer. this morning we received notifactoin from vodafone about failure to pay the bill. we spoke to them and sorted out the problem and then our phones were disconnected. the message seemed to indicate that we would have all day to sort out this mess. Attempts to contact the service number were unsuccessful.

Got an iPhone 4 in september through vodafone, first month or so was fine but ever since then it is just useless. Everytime I pick my phone up it says 'Network Lost - Change your settings'.. Like not just once or twice a day, I'm talking literally every time I look at it. I constantly run fully out of service (one bar in the middle of surfers paradise), I have family back in NZ and everytime u try call them it just hangs, doesn't ring, doesn't go to answer machine - just does NOTHING! I try send texts and when I come back to it half an hour later it says it never sent. Jeez don't even get me started on the Internet/data.... It is impossible to use it. Every so often it MAY load but takes about 5 mins per page - I'm lucky I have telstra wifi and just log in with that. if they don't fix these problems I will be leaving (for free I might add, not going to be paying them a cent!) but that is a shame as the plan I am on is perfect for me. Get ur s**t sorted .

Vodafone fails again. 9.26am 11th January with flood waters rapidly rising in Brisbane Vodafone FAILED. No voice or data services here in the CBD. I'm writing this on my prepaid Telstra iPad as my iPhone has no service. My wife in a different part of the CBD has found the same. Vodafone web site only says that voice and data services will be partially unavailable due to flood and storm damage. No eta for fix no mention of what is being done and no service. My mobile is constantly dropping out. For example, yesterday I was in a shopping centre and received a call. During the conversation (which would have been no more then 5 minutes), my phone dropped out twice. I was standing in exactly the same place for the entire time.

Call through and select menu oiptions then voice over that Call failed Technical problem!!!!!! please call back

No network access whatsoever all over Brisbane!
Emergency services can't use the network and we low-life users can't either, cause Vodafail have failed ALL their SEQ customers and they still want their money each money!. Friggin' thieves!
11 Jan 2011 12:49:17 PM: Actually Vodafone waived bills for people in previously affected areas and donated a tonne of money to the appeal.

I range vodafone the other day to request an upgrade and i was speaking to an Indian call centre employee who i couldnt understand. I caught something about them saying that it was not the right area even though i followed the pormpts and then they hung up on me. The whole reason i left # was to avoid speaking to indian call centres casue they are not in the loop and now vodafail has them! I am definately going to leave as soon as i can get through to them.

Just tried calling again and they said that they are having technical difficulties and i will have to call back!

Called last week to complain and request that I be released from my contract. I was promised a call back, never received one and had to call multiple times before I eventually got through. I mean even the call centre is not working and simply disconnects you most of the time.

I have 1 bar reception at beast, no 3g, I am on an unlimited plan that costs over $110 per month, I should be receiving a premium service.

I was told I could they would release me from my contract after they did their due diligence to check that it wasn't some other issue with my phone. They said that rather than make me wait they'd call me back once someone from tech support was available, 1 week later and no contact. I've given them a chance, now I must contact that TIO. This sucks, I almost missed my grandmother's funeral last week because I didn't get the call at all and the voicemail arrived very late.

Vodaphone merged with 3 (via Hutchison) more than a year ago and yet they have not merged their networks. You can drive from Adelaide's northern suburbs on the main highway to Darwin and back and not touch one 3 network. I guess they make too much money with Internet roaming charges. Merge your companies -> MERGE YOUR NETWORKS! Give customers what they are paying for.

Tried 3 times to contact via Lara (no good). If you want to get through quickly ring the head office number 02 9415 7000 and ask for the operator when prompted, tell her you can't get through and she will connect you directly.You still go to India but the call gets answered straight away. Good Luck

12 Jan 2011 09:47:50 AM: You are joking right? 3 roam with Telstra currently, if they were to share networks with Vodafone you'd get far less reception. I was up in Alice over the xmas period and I did get coverage there. No extra roaming charges. Then again I have a BB so roaming BIS (internet and email) is free.

i have no reception in such a QLD natural disaster crisis!.
i phoned vodafone they are supposably linking the 3g network with another network??? why would you do this now??????? how about after the flooding!!!!!

i cant contact anyone family or friends or relitives to c if there ok???

4 weeks ago I went into labour n tryed to call my husband and my
phone had full reseption but would not let me call I almost didn't make
it to the hospital in time if it wasn't for a passer byer that called my husband
off of his phone.
