Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

17608 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Collateral (through 3 mobile) at 1 May 2011 04:57:13 PM
The Vadafone/3 mobile text message network just happened to coincide when my parents were travelling home from South America.
With no access to the internet the only form of communication was through SMS.
However, due to the network outage, I wasn't to realise they were diverted to Auckland airport (where they remained for 7 hours) until after they were due into Sydney.
It is impossible to continue to pay for a service that, during times of need, fails.
I have moved on. I have signed with Optus, and am awaiting my payout bill from vodafone/3 mobile. Whatever it is, it will be worth it. It will be a small price to pay to ensure the means of communication are secure during times of need.

No internet connection for longer than 2 mins at a time via broadband UBS. It has been over 2 weeks and today they tell me another 5 days to deal with it, the connection signal is weak so it drops out or goes very slow.

they are ripp offs and decievers they lie and cant even provide service other than the 3 hour hold i was on today, they sent me a bill for $600 and my bill should be $70. i was told that i dialed 1500 number which doesnt even work? abit weird to call a number and speak for 2 hours to that number when it doesnt even exist or work? and just the recent text message problems they gave customers free texts from 8am to 8pm what about the other customers on unlimited plans how do they get free texts? when they are paying for them as part of their unlimited plans, but both ways they cant compensate those high paying customers, again a falty service prover, a liar, and rubbish alltogether, its funny how they say that they recieve no complaints when you can clearly see the complaints

17600 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Customer service at 1 May 2011 11:36:32 AM
Recently bought vodafone pocket wifi and sim from Date Communications at Richmond Marketplace. The owner gave me a micro-SIM which I found later does NOT work in the pocket wifi. I returned to the shop the following day, and was told they do not have the particular SIM card in stock. I demanded a refund and the girl at the counter efused to refund me. What can I do? Not only did the owner lie regarding the workability of this wifi but also stole my money. Not happy Jan!!
1 May 2011 07:24:09 PM: Hi the pocket wifi is a great product and i have purchased mine from the same place and had no problem. I got the store owner to get it working for me she was really helpful. Why dont you goback to the store and get them to help you install it, instead off making claims that they took your money. I have purchase a few prepaid things from that store and they ALWAYS as me if i want them to connect it for me and i have always told them to and never had a problem. i will advise you that the first sim card i got was not working well but the store manager fixed it for me. Go back and talk to the person that sold it to you and dont make claims before you get it checked out. Somebody in Windsor.

10 minutes out of Melbourne and no coverage. In Melbourne the calls are dropped continually. It is annoying when it is a private call, outright unacceptable when it is a business call.
This is not to mention the drain on the phone battery due to poor coverage & the phone always searching for service

17598 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is poor at 1 May 2011 10:14:14 AM
I tried to recharge my phone via internet today, Sunday 1st May. The Vodafone web page is telling me my password is incorrect. Been using that same password since I've had the phone, which is 2 & half years now.
I'm supposed to have free text today, Sunday 1st May.....I tried to send a text but was told, NO, I have insufficient credit!!! fer f*** sake!!!
So I rang the number they gave me on the website. Not only does it NOT have the automated choice of the problem I have, they have told me to ring back TOMORROW!!!
I think tomorrow, I'll be going to another provider....

Iphone user for 2 years with Vodafone.June 2010 working in Parliament House, loss of signal started, got worse as time went by.Nil to a little signal, could not call out no incoming calls, found emails and text messages sent to me during work hours appeared sometime overnight. Now (May 2011) have reception about 50% of working day in suburbs of Canberra, constant dropouts , no internet, texts take forvere or never get sent, same problem for a number of staff with Vodafone and different model phone (Nokia,Motorola etc)Received generic letter in March telling me of company shortcomings and how it would all be turned around yadayadayada. Now it is May and even as I write this from my laptop reception is zero bars on my phone, if I walk outside I can see a mobile antenna down the road (about 800 metres)Sometimes as I hold the phone I get a full 5 bars signal strength if I turn my back or mve it drops radically.

17596 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Getting worse everday at 1 May 2011 09:15:56 AM
I complained some months ago about lousy reception in and around Canberra. My phone is primarily used for work, without it I cannot know what other staff members want or where they are.Reception 18 months ago was good not excellent and I was reasonably happy. Then in June last year reception (ie;signal strentgh)started to decline , on average I would be lucky to have any reception over 50% of my working day, everyday. The first complaint resulted in a generic letter stating that things would improve , but no mention of any refunds etc;the second complaint resulted in two letters both asking for my pin number ( which I have forgot /lost) and as such, having not provided it, the complaint has been put into the companies resolved basket.Even as I sit here my phone is fully charged and has no signal.I pay for internet and really only had service for about 6 months of the 18-24 months I have been with them.Phone calls constantly drop out , e-mails sent during the day arrive up to 2-3 hours later, after I have checked on my laptop. All in all a poor product for the money.

17595 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is REJECT grade for quality at 1 May 2011 08:13:47 AM
I have been on VodaFail for one week with a new Nokia N8. I churned to them from 3 and a Nokia E63. I now regret that move. The Nokia E63 on 3 worked everywhere for me. I churned, only because of the offer of a particular plan that suits my one man business. The New Nokia N8 is not as good as other phones in week signal areas. It lack sensitivity. This, combined with VodaFail's poor signal coverage is a bad combination. For example, at my home office (on ground floor) in Macgregor QLD 4109 (10km south of Brisbane CBD) I can have a 6 bar signal strength showing and I start a new phone call. During the call, the signal strength will creep down to one bar and even no bar indication. Of course, the person I call will complain to me before this droput that they cannot hear me and also I sound distorted. I have now discovered that I can (mostly) have a successful call if I go upstairs and stand near an open window. I have never had these problems with other phone/service provider combinations over 10 years at this location. I have reported this to VodaFail. First, I tried to send a message to their Support from their own web page. That was an EPIC fail, since the SUBMIT button ... did not. So, I phoned them. I was passed around to a number of people / departments. Eventually, I ended up with a polite person who was in another country. I was making this call outside the house, in the middle of the street, trying to catch a useable signal. Eventually, the process required the Nokia N8 to be rebooted & settings changed, so he called me back on a landline. He taked me through the process. Finally, we arrived at the point in his trouble-shooting where nothing at fault had been found, and his next remedy was the restore to Factory Settings. He gave me the detailed instructions on how to do this, since I first needed to backup the memory, and said he was logging me to receive a 50% rebate on my bill for the next 3 months as compensation for this problem. I installed their Nokia <-> PC software on a computer and backed up the phone to the PC. Reverting to factory settings and restoring the phone memories has done nothing to improve the performance of the Nokia N8 on a weak network. I have since discovered other reports of the N8 and having poor performance in weak signal areas. One week has gone by and the same problems are being experienced. For example, yesterday I was at a client premises in Crestmead QLD 4132. There was ZERO signal available and I was OUTSIDE. Now, I have to escalate this situation to seek a remedy. My experience is that their current service coverage and product combination is NOT OF MERCHANTABLE QUALITY.

And if I the problem persists ring back in 24 hours so they escalate my complaint. I give up! Its all too exhausting. Is that their intention?

We left Vodafail in January after lodging a complaint with the ombudsman, as they let us out of our contracts and we sent back all our mobiles, laptops and mobile broadband devices, YET we are still receiving bills from them via email but no letters from Vodafail and no contact from debt collection agencies. No service, drop outs constantly, late SMS delivery and response eg 2 days later, voicemail might come within the week if at all if you are lucky. Overall never been with such a poor unorganized company who is meant to deliver a service we pay for and are charge for. Can you imagine if I treated my customers like they do absolutely ridiculous.

17588 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Irritating at 30 Apr 2011 09:52:27 PM
Today, a customer came in to my store demanding that they have their prepaid MBB refunded as they could not connect to the internet on their laptop with their VF MBB device but that their friend, using the same laptop, could plug in his 3 MBB device and that it would connect. I asked him whether he had spoken to tech support through customer care. He said he hadn't and that he wasn't going to. I had a look myself, although I'm only as proficient as the average technology user. It was saying that 3 software on his laptop was conflicting with his VF software and so his device wouldn't work because it was not set as the default. I advised him to contact tech support and they would walk him through the process of having the software on his computer installed correctly so it would work. He said no because he wanted me to do it. I advised him that stores aren't designed for tech support and that it was nothing that he couldn't do himself. He demanded a refunded on the basis that his friends worked but his didn't. I advised him that it appeared it was because of this that he couldn't use his own. He continued to demand a refund. I asked if he had the receipt. He said no. I was lost for words. **If you are having problems with your service I am happy to do my best to resolve it for you. Understand that we will not do everything for you as you're not children and, with the right tools, are able to do simple things yourself. Please be understanding.**

Dear Vodaphone, you suck. How is it you think it acceptable to offer the absolute cluster f@#* of a service you peddle to your suffering customers. Dropped calls, intermittent web access, delayed SMS delivery, you name it - that is when your "service" is not in a state of meltdown.

How kind it is of you to offer free SMS messages between 8AM and 8PM this Sunday in response to yet another outage shared by all on Easter Sunday.

Thank-you, but with all due respect you can take your free SMS's and shove them. If you really want to impress me, try taking the revenue you plan on forgoing with these useless free SMS's and put it toward FIXING THE BLOODY PROBLEM!

i signed on with a $99 a month contract for 24 months, which ended up being around the $110 mark. My ex and i split up, leaving me with a toddler and baby on the way, bills, rent, food, nappies and everything else to pay for ON MY OWN. i rang vodafone wanting to change plans, since my bill was being paid off and i was attempting to get on top of it. but since every month new charges were being put on (even though i couldnt use the phone) i just couldnt cope. they ended up charging me around $400 to switch plans, and giving me no sort of help other than that. i do realise i signed the contract, but all i asked for was a little understanding since i am attempting to make things right. i hate vodafone, should never have signed with them, but in the end theyre all just as bad as each other...

17585 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete failure at 30 Apr 2011 04:54:29 PM
the vodafone store at pitt and park street has the rudest and most uninterested customer service staff of any vodafone store i've been to. i wanted to buy the iphone4 on the infinite45 plan over 24 months and i was surprised at what little knowledge the girl at the store had and her attitude showed she wasn't interested in making a sale. i felt i was an interuption to her leisure time at work. i thought about making the purchase online instead but have now decided to look elsewhere to other providers.
1 May 2011 02:10:44 AM: I went to this store recently and yes the shop assistants there really don't give a toss about serving customers. They prefer to talk among themselves or fool around on their Facebook. I tried to renew my mobile contract and upgrade to a more expensive plan (yes, give them more money than I do now). The shop assistant told me I had to do it on the phone and that it wasn't her job. Anyone who has tried to do anything with Vodafone over the phone will know you have to wait on hold forever. When I asked why I couldn't get it done there she simply walked away and ignored me. I was in no way rude or anything, I merely wanted to continue being a Vodafone mobile customer and I could not believe I was being turned away. I think my days of being a loyal Vodafone customer are about to end.
1 May 2011 03:44:57 PM: I know this store too. I went in for a business plan for 5 phones on unlimited plans (alot of money i know) and was told to come back later.... there were 3 shop assistants and NO customers in the store.... Do they not work on commission?
3 May 2011 09:28:20 PM: They can't possibly work on commission at this store. I went there last Saturday to buy a mobile phone on a plan but the young Asian female shop assistant told me to order it over the phone yet she couldn't be bothered providing me with the phone number. I left and went to the Telstra shop instead.
4 May 2011 11:44:14 PM: Sounds like the girl who served me when I tried to get a mobile broadband pocket wifi that I saw advertised in the paper. She told me to go online to order it which might have been OK if I had an internet connection in the first place. The whole reason for me wanting to make the purchase was so that I could have internet access. She didn't seem to understand nor did she care.

17581 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Where do I start at 30 Apr 2011 11:34:15 AM
I was with Virgin for 6 years, one month with Vodafone and I've had more problems in the month with Voda than I did with Virgin for 6 years...

Calls dropping out, poor 3G connection, myvodafone problems, SMS problems... I must have made over 20 calls to Vodafone trying to get things sorted out...but nothings fixed....

After many many complaints, I had my first bill wavered, next 4 months free..but today i went on to myvodafone to check my current usage details and saw I'm up to $860 but they are going to charge me extra $23.00. I'm on $79 cap and my allowance is $900, so well under the limit. So I called Vodafone this morning blowing up asking why they are going to charge me extra? After an hour, they are putting my current situation under investigation, and given me $100 extra allowance next months...

But I have to say I don't trust them and very thankful that I didn't give them my bank details or credit card details...

No internet connection all morning. Had a big struggle just to load up Vodafail to see if anyone else had same trouble. I'm in the heart of Melbourne on Crazy John plan. Si
3 May 2011 07:14:26 PM: Same same same, its an outrage. this is melbourne CBD and they cannot handle basic capacity. From 8pm until 6am you basically cannot have any constant connection and then it goes spaz again at random times during the day. Vodafone should STOP SELLING USB BROADBAND until they can handle existing customer capacity demands on wireless broadband, let alone new subscribers.

I have called a number of times to complain (when I am in a reception area) and have been hung up on twice and the call has dropped out too many times to count.
I do not live in a remote location - I am in Sydney metro. It has become increasingly worse over the past six months! I have been a customer for 15 years this year and I am changing to another provider and cancelling all my services.

I have the lastest smart phone. However what is the point when Vodafail's coverage is so poor and unrealiable? I get internet access at home but I don't need it then because I can connect via my wireless rounter. Yet all around the CBD fringe were I work I can not get internet connection. This is where I need it.
29 Apr 2011 10:31:49 PM: simple. you're one of the countless fools that just keeps on accepting poor service by rewarding the carrier for their poor performance by paying their bill. REFUSE TO PAY YOUR BILL AND TELL THEM SO. Ordered a meatlovers pizza at your pizzeria, say $19, shop assistant flops box on counter, you take a sniff, open box, find there's little or no meat on your pizza, as staffie demands payment, ARE YOU going to pay up? Yep Aussies are stupid people, they pay up, walk off and go home whinging and ranting how the local pizzeria has done them over and ripped them off. Yeah folks, welcome to Awwwstralia, the great land down under, full of stupid people this wonderful sunburnt country of ours. They ask for the money, you stupid people just keep on coughing up and paying. Is it any wonder why we have politicians that break their promises, and then get rewarded by being re-elected? Is it any wonder then why we have the woes like rising power prices, rising cost of living, food, housing, and such? You stupid people just bend over and ask for more, so WHACK! you get booted up the rear end again. Boom! whinge rant and rave and whinge some more, then you aussie scum just bend on over again, give me some more, last time didn't hurt enough. Bam! Boot comes again. Ouch! Whinge, rant and rave, what? $xxxx for that? grrr grumble whinge whinge, you pay up. Then again aussie scum bends over when demanded by the rich and powerful, Whammo! Ouch that hurt, what? $xxxx.xx ? Damn can't afford that, that's alright I have no brain, I'm an Aussie, you pay up, and bend over another time. Whacko! Ouch that hurt. My parents saw the light that this is the stupid country, where 22 million people collectively have the IQ of a cockroach, that's why they went home, this place just doesn't make sense. Such a wonderful country, its incredibly beautiful and diverse natural attractions, the beaches, the wildlife, the climate and many beautiful places to see and explore, but what a shame the people are mostly braindead and stupid here, just no balls and no initiative, just pieces of driftwood floating along the river of life, bouncing and weaving along, not standing up for their rights, just taking whatever is thrown at them, and making do with the situation of the time without consideration of the fact that they have to continually work harder, longer and smarter to satisfy the ever-increasing needs and demands of the rich and powerful in the upper echolons of society.

THE ONLY REASON we have crap service here, exampled by Vodafone/3's woes, as well as issues with Optus as well, is most people just do as they're told, no can't do that will affect my credit rating, better cough up and put up with poor service then when my contract is up, I'll change phone companies. These companies' CEO's and top brass must surely be laughing behind closed doors, as would their major shareholders, thinking geez are these people stupid or what? We provide crap service, but the money just keeps on coming. Not much of a groundswell of protest, customers refusing to pay. Yep that's alright, we can just keep on doing more of the same, congestion, drop-outs, so what? The stupid people just keep on paying their bills, we'll be right alright. Thank goodness for dual citizenship, I can tell you THIS without a doubt, if I was faced with the prospect of having to spend the rest of my life living in Australia, I would commit suicide right now. Absolutely, the mere thought of such a prospect makes me puke. This is so sad because there are people out there who are REALLY suffering, starving, or struggling to find food, the only problem comes when people adopt the mindset that geez we're the lucky country we're not starving, we have sewage and reticulated good quality water and a health and hospital system that's kind of working well, very well compared to some places, then fall back into this we're the lucky country bullshit, so we have call dropouts, congestion and such. Corporate Australia and politicians KNOW this and play the game accordingly.

Keep on milking the cow 'cause it ain't kickin' back !
30 Apr 2011 11:05:01 AM: Like like like like like!!!

Australians do take it up the ass. And I am one Australian who is sick of it.
Yes we ahve some things good but many many others not so good. We have few large service providor companies like Vodafone and a government that is ballsless. Other countries would be rioting, protesting, setting cars on fire. Thankfully we dont do the latter yet, however we have become the American whingers. We complain and complain but dont do anything to try and change it. We accept defeat or think someone else will do it.

After poor mobile data speeds and no reception in most of Sydney, Australias 'capitol' city, i rang up and refused to pay my bill. They didnt accept it at first but i stuck to my guns and tore strips off the operator, even thos she wasnt personally responisbly. I got my 3 months free billing, the service has iimprved but data speeds on my mobile are still very very slow. This will intice a nother phone call if it does not get better.
30 Apr 2011 11:06:42 AM: PS. I wish i had dual citizenship...
30 Apr 2011 11:22:55 AM: sydney is NOT the capital of Australia......that would be Canbera ACT.
30 Apr 2011 08:36:25 PM: Or possibly even Canberra ACT.

17567 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 29 Apr 2011 06:00:41 PM
I am finding that vodafones software suite is falsely reporting epic speed when the truth is it is horribly slow, the suite sometimes reports 1MB NOT Mb, MB while download speeds and ping times reflect more like 20-30Kb's of available bandwidth!!!! i understand vodafone are currently in-broiled in a giant law suit but come on this is just plain lying!

17566 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing at 29 Apr 2011 05:52:07 PM
Vodafone is still charging me a bill even though my mobile service is no longer with vodafone. These people have to be stopped with what they are doing. Even though I have moved my services they still keep your bank details in their system. I have had to call them and tell them to stop sending me SMS for a bill when I have not even used their services for over a month. I also told them to remove my bank details from their computer. If they dont I will be taking them to court and to all the TV stations.
They are theives.
29 Apr 2011 06:46:52 PM: this isn't just a vodafone/3 problem, similar issue with Telstra here, in December I moved from Burleigh Waters to Robina, terminated my telstra account, as I no longer needed a landline, in mid-January I received a bill of $158-something from Telstra, paid it, and that was the end of that, or so I thought.
Today I received a Final Demand from "Specialised Recoveries" demanding a Telstra debt of $66.37, with the account number of my burleigh waters telstra account. I rang the 1-800-285-773 number, and that connected me to Telstra. A person with an Indian accent, very polite and helpful chat, and quite easy to understand too, which is a welcome change, said there was an outstanding amount from the past bill. I said there was a bill of $158-something, and that had been paid. I asked him to look up billing details and payment details, and he confirmed there was a payment of $158-something and the balance then was zero, but in February and March there was additional billing data, which had been unpaid. WTF? Don't they have to send a statement or an invoice for that? He said here was no billing data available for these, only that there was an outstanding amount of $66.37 in that account.

The "Final Demand" asserts that "we may provide your payment default to a credit reporting agency, blah blah blah" and that this will become part of my credit history file for 5 years and will be available to authorised parties such as credit providers.

I asked him whether he was able to provide me the particulars of the outstanding amount. What was it? Line rental charges? Calls? The account was closed at the end of december, no more calls, no more activity on the account...

OK, I know that most Aussies are stupid morons (look at the politicians this pathetic excuse of a nation elects into power and how they manage things - just like ordinary aussie scum live their lives, no idea...) - I mean how can a company send out a final demand without sending out a statement of account, and upon non-payment of same, a reminder ???

One thing is for certain, they will NOT BE PAID if the numbers don't add up - how can you terminate a service, and then some months later suddenly accrue other charges? Why the fuck to I pay taxes to this loser nation when there are no government laws and regulations to prevent big businesses from attempting to extract money from people like this? If I did this to my clients they would report me to the Fair Trading office, or attempt to have me charged for attempting to gain financial advantage through deception. I'm eagerly awaiting my telstra account detailing how this $66.37 outstanding account was calculated from a final bill that had a $158- something amount, and proof of payment that was acknowledged by this telephone operator, who could not extract particulars of how they came to the $66.37 outstanding amount ???

Sorry for being so pedantic, most of you would just say hey screw this, I don't want my credit rating tarnished, I better pay it, so stupid aussie moron pays it without much more than a whinge or two..

THIS IS PRECISELY THE REASON why we have the woes that so many people are whingeing about, rising electricity prices, high cost of living, and such, when you have a nation consisting of mostly braindead, stupid people who have no idea how things work in the real world. Can't wait to see the last of your stupid country, love the beaches, love the surf, the climate, but the way of life in this place, eeeech, no honesty, no integrity. Sting 'em for what they're worth, it's the aussie way. No thanks, FK off, not for me thank you very much. Mum and Dad went back 8 years ago citing that "if we stayed here, we'd become like them" . Bingo ! Stupid me thought differently, I considered myself as a proud immigrant Aussie, how sadly wrong I was, was thinking of wiping my ass with the aussie passport, but my ass is not worthy of being wiped with something as disgustingly pathetic as an Australian passport.
29 Apr 2011 07:36:11 PM: lol. I'm as despondent about things as you are. Just look how long the ACMA takes to act. I actually called the ACCC to see if they were doing anything about Vodafone. They said "you'll have to write to a minister because it's beyond our control cause Vodafone haven't actually broken any laws".

Sorry our country let you down, it's regulators are letting us all down.

PS my friend from another country (to whom I actually recommended Vodafone - agghh) had exactly the same experience as you did. He knew Vodafone from overseas and thought it to be a very good company, but then, welcome to Australia, where our regulators are half asleep.....
29 Apr 2011 07:41:18 PM: PS the regulators (ACCC, ACMA) will say "the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman" is there to help you (which is true). But why TF should we have to spend all day complaining to them to get anything done. And besides, no-one has even heard of the TIO! (11% awareness according to their website! - imagine if only 11% of people knew of the police, crims would have a field day, it's the same thing but companies are having a field day!)Cash bonanza screwing chilled out Aussies and tourists - it's complete BS! ACCC and ACMA have to step up.
29 Apr 2011 11:03:13 PM: and you stupid people just don't stand up and say NO - can't wait till I'm cashed up a little bit more and leave your loser country behind once and for all. Parents left 8 years ago, I thought this was a great country, yes it is, but unfortunately it's the people here.... Everything here is a result of the people. Dumb people = ineffective Government = poor service. I admire the guy who punched out a shop assistant over the missing chicko roll - he deserves a medal, because the dweeb who served him should have done his job properly, what he is being paid to do, but this stupid backwater pathetic excuse of a nation makes the shop assistant look like the victim and the person whom he was meant to serve look like the crim. This is so pathetic. If I'm a pizza store owner, and you ordered a ham and cheese pizza, and I charged you normal price, say $19, yet you get only ham and next to no cheese on your pizza, and I argue the point and demand payment of $19, but you get upset, refuse to pay, then me goes to the authorities to help extract the full $19 out of you... Yep Australia = loser country full of losers. I am so grateful for dual citizenship. I wasn't born here, and I have travelled extensively, yes I've been spoilt, but I could never stoop so low as to call myself an aussie. Google 'the swiss way' - I rest my case, RAISE the bar peoples. If your phone company's NOT giving you service, and you're getting constant drop-outs, poor network speed and such, DON'T pay your bill, write to them and tell them so, and complain to the T.I.O. - at least if it's a valid complaint with substance, your credit rating is unlikely to be shot, and you'll probably be let out of your contract, telcos tend to listen to the TIO, they cut and paste their response to the telco to release Joe Bloggs out of their contracts, guess what, they usually do, because most aussies are morons and pay their bills as they are told, and keep on complaining. It's a tiny minority who take the initiative to stand up for their rights, and then complain to the T.I.O., so if you're taking your grievances to the T.I.O., you will get results because so few people in this country have a brain between their ears, the telco's status quo remains unchanged, yeah release him, won't affect our bottom line or shareholder returns, keep the peace because most people here wouldn't know whether they're coming or going, they're too dumb. Right on the button. ACCC and ACMA won't step up, because they're part of the game.
29 Apr 2011 11:15:16 PM: 07:36:11 PM: the regulators are a govenment department, they are the direct result of democracy, stupid people vote for stupid governments. This country is inhabited by mostly stupid people. You, me and a whole bunch of others here are a tiny minority. Civil disobedience is the answer, as another poster said, why TF do we need to waste our time spending all day complaining to them to get anything done. I'm from Switzerland, consumer sensitivity over there is very high, telcos know this, because even when there are problems normally beyond their immediate control, such as bad weather, or some dick cutting through a cable affecting services, the delinquency rate in blling shoots through the roof. D2 and Swisscom spend considerable resources monitoring network performance and building redundancy into their networks because they know if they don't provide effective and acceptable service, the numbers of people who then refuse to pay their bills, or just say FK you and change carriers, goes though the roof. Cousin works as Ascom who does a lot of their basestation work, and my niece works at D2 accounts and concurs. Network outages and congestion problems are SERIOUS problems as their credit and collections departments go into overdrive. And over there, people don't put up with spending their time waiting on the phone, pressing buttons and getting frustrated, the average hang-up time is 2'30 (two minutes and thirty seconds), you keep your customer waiting on the phone for more than that, and the likelihood of you having to chase that debt through the collection process and then on to small claims through the courts, skyrockets. Telcos usually won't take things that far because the delinquency rate with court ordered demands are almost as high as they are pre-court. People there don't take shit like aussie do, that's why network performance is better, that's why governments listen, people say no to the bureaucratic process and the law almost as much as they do to private enterprise. So government and business keeps that bar (of quality of service and customer service so much higher than here), as my parents said before they left Australia and went back home. Love the climate, love the beaches, love the diversity of nature and Australia's awesome beauty, but if we stayed there, we'll become like them. Bingo!
30 Apr 2011 12:32:39 AM: I couldn't agree more with every single thing you've said!

Aussies, by nature, don't complain - it's built into our psyche. What really needs to happen is for the people we pay our taxes to (ACCC, ACMA) to ACTUALLY pull these telcos into line. They need to be rigorous, and if they want to bother with a TIO (which they should), it needs to be widely advertised so that every man and his dog knows that they can go there immediately if they have a problem.

Initially there'll be heaps of complaints, but 1-3 years after making these changes, complaint levels will settle back to pleasingly low levels, as shitty telcos (like Vodafail) are pushed the f*ck out of the marketplace, and only decent ones remain.

Trust me, we Australians don't "complain" a lot by nature, but we sure as chips pay taxes, and expect those departments receiving them to damn well do their job!! And that is, to regulate the bloody market so we don't have more Vodafails!
30 Apr 2011 12:42:26 AM: you know another way to look at it, is just that Vodafone could just turn around and say get f*cked Australia - you make these laws, we obey them, then you arc up at us - WTF??

Vodafone hasn't broken any laws, not as far as the ACCC or ACMA are concerned, so what's Australia complaining about?
30 Apr 2011 11:19:23 AM: I agree that we whinge but dont complain appropriatley. The issue with govt departments like the TIO is that we look at the govt as useless as any one else if not more so, so we think what the hell is a govt dept going to be able to do for us.
Also, telcos or anyone else should have to apply to courts to have our credit rating affected. I had an argument with a bill with telstra over 10 years ago. They then cancelled my contract on me and sent me a 1300 bill which i refused to pay. So they put me on the credit report as owing money. I couldnt get a single loan for 5years!!!! I wanted to take them to court but didnt have the money to fight them.

The TIO at the time was usesless.
1 May 2011 12:11:36 AM: I agree, mostly. I hostestly don't think the TIO is the problem, but the problem is that people need to know about it.

Making a complaint takes 5 minutes, and telcos are fined every time we complain. This hurts them so they don't want us to complain.

The issue arises when people don't know about the Ombudsman, and don't bother to use it, which is an absulutely huge issue. Official stats (have a look on the ombudsman reports) state that awareness of the ombudsman service is 12%. Let me repeat that: 12%. Meaning, that at least 88% of people DON"T EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT.

Now that we've established that, let's go on...

If 9/10 people don't even know about it, how many are actually complaining? 1/25, 1/50??? Who knows, but it can't be very many.

IF it's 1/40, for instance, that means Vodafone can mistreat 40 customers before they get one of them actually getting off their bum to complain to the ombudsman. The ombudsman will then issue a fine of *shock/horror* $62 to Vodafone.

In essence, Vodafone get fined $62 for pissing of 40 customers!!!!!! I know for a fact that they made about $400 off me before I finally called it quits with their sh*thouse service, so I effectively paid their costs for another 250 unhappy customers!!

How is that ever going to discourage them???? Vodafone have no incentive to treat customers properly.

The solution, let's take an example. Red light cameras are a good disincentive to running red lights because those who brake the law know they'll likely get caught and face a fine. But what would happen if only 1/40 people who ran a red light got caught??? People would be far more willing to run red lights cause the chance of getting caught is so slim. And how does this apply to Vodafone? Because vodafone know the chances of getting caught when they treat customers appaulingly is so slim, simply because not very many people can report them (because noone knows about the TIO).

I don't know how the TIO hasn't been blasted through our airwaves, put on TV ads, peppered across banner ads on web pages and plonked right into the major newspapers with half page ads! If ACMA did this, I wonder how long it would take the telcos to pull up their socks!!

17565 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unbelievable fail at 29 Apr 2011 05:13:34 PM
About a month ago, Vodafone offered to take me away from the 3 mobile broadband network onto their own. Being some sort of dual company nowadays, they agreed to cover the contract exit fee in order to suck me into the migration process. I did so and now for some epic reason, I receive some kind of $99 bill from 3 on my credit card. That looks like a month in advance for a service I'm no longer with plus some other hidden fee that makes no sense whatsoever. To top it off, I still have a pending fee in the next couple of days to cover the vodafone bill. I'm cancelling these idiots immediately because I can't get through to Vodafone or 3 help services. The TIO is my next stop. Documents are on standby. This move will cost them a lot more than returning my $99 now.. A LOT more.

I live in the innner west, previous used optus and always have full bars at my place but with vodafone, one bar or no bar at all. Even when I am in the city, still sometimes just one bar, I get a lot of voice mails since people could not reach me!! I am not even talking about the 3G coverage! Half of the time, no 3g coverage and a quarter of the time is no phone signal coverage! I really want to get out of my current contract as this seriously affect my work and my everyday life. My mobile phone has no reception a lot of the time in the Perth CBD. People call me and it apparently goes straight to message bank, they leave a message and I never get the message. This happens too often. The internet very rarely actually works on my mobile, and is very slow on our wifi at home.

I have put in several complaints online and get emails back saying that they trust my issue has been solved. How could it if no one ever calls me etc? Why would it solve itself?

Years ago they had great value and great service. WTF happened?

I have a Vodafone 3G SIM installed in a Huawei u5832 modem that I got on a plan with Virgin (Optus 3G reseller), it always worked fine were I am in Black Rock with Optus/Virgin. Vodafone is unbelievably appalling, data transfers just stop regularly even though it seems to have a good signal, I have to manually disconnect and reconnect the 3G connection every 1/2 hour or so, random network 'ping' tests to yahoo.com show more than 25% packet dropouts and wildly varying response times, best is about 350ms, worst (when it doesn't actually timeout or disconnect completely) is over 3500ms and it's usually about 700ms, more than double Optus. Have to say that Vodafone 3G is absolute c**p, I will NEVER use them again when my credit runs out and go back to Optus or one of their resellers.

29 Apr 2011 10:43:05 PM: you don't (but they say you do), tell them to go and "F" themselves. If we can get enough people to grow a brain in this pathetic excuse of a nation, and stand up to thee parasites and say enough is enough, no I'm not paying up, stick ya phone up ya a$$ I'm not like most aussies (braindead people), I'm not happy and I don't give a FK, I just want the service that I'm paying for, then these parasites will start investing their profits in adding extra network capacity and coverage to satisfy their client base. Keep on paying your bills as demanded, and it's like re-electing the same politicians that have broken promises and such, and guess what, you'll just get more of the same.

The only difference between pollies and vodafone is that here you have an avenue of complaint, refuse to pay your bills, tell them why, and make a formal complaint to the TIO, at least your credit rating won't get shot if your complaints are valid, real and not bullshit excuses to get out of paying your bills. Companies as pathetic as Vodafone and their shareholders should be quaking in their boots. They must be thanking their lucky stars that the people here are stupid and braindead, because in Europe they have to provide at least a half-decent service because as soon as your subscribers start experiencing dropped calls, low signal strength in urban areas, well they just change carriers and refuse to pay their bills. Consumer sensitivity there is amazing compared to zombie land downunder.... It all depends on where your standards are.

29 Apr 2011 11:25:34 PM: and with so much data you've managed to collect you still pay your bill? Refuse to pay and draft a quick complaint to the TIO and tell your telco to stick it where the sun don't shine, and get on-line, facebook, I did a letterbox drop advising people to boycott Vodafone and '3' and did a bunch of posts on my facebook wall (I have over 13'000 fans on my FB fan page), got served a cease and desist order from some legal firm in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, telling me I risk being prosecuted for defamation. I wiped my butt with the letter and shoved it into an envelope and returned it to the sender. Haven't heard from them since, and I'm upping the ante on my campaign. Look at the people of Egypt and Lybia, or the poms who took to the streets of London protesting about government cutbacks. Police were called in to move them on, many refused and went on a destructive rampage destroying everything in sight Ain't it interesting how quickly government back-flipped on their proposed cut-backs. Shame aussie have no brains and no balls. Yeah pick a fight with some dude taking glance at your boyfriend, but dare stand up to authority when you're being robbed by big business, noooooooo. Thick as a plank, hypocrite and zombie mentality. Welcome to my description of the average aussie. Please take offence to this assertion of min, stand up and say FK u, that's not me, and take a stand, take the lead and BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THIS WORLD - together we can change things for the better, spread the word and incite change. It doesn't have to be like this, stand up for your rights. If you truly think THIS IS the lucky country, then for FK's sake, MAKE it the lucky country by taking ACTION...

i lived in coomera waters for 4 years i get no coverage in my house and intermitent one bar outside my house, as with most business these days they want your cash but dont want to invest it to make you happy they want to pass it on to share holders and pay their directers high wages, vodafone are globally No 2 in terms of subscribers they have no shortage of technical expertise or money to make it all work...........however they are very greedy
it seems today that large corporations run the world not governments who are in a good postion to punnish telecoms providers if they so wished
28 Apr 2011 10:38:21 PM: Vodafone are their own worst enemies

Have a look at the busy Telstra shop, and then have a look at the empty Vodafone shop. Business going like this can not last, and something will have to give.

29 Apr 2011 11:32:30 PM: yeah but most of the vodafone shops AREN'T EMPTY - Robina town center this afternoon, Crazy Johns had PEOPLE WAITING TO BE SERVED, similarly the "3" and Vodafone stores were quite busy too. In a nation full of stupid people like Australia, business like this not only lasts, but it actually THRIVES. Shareholders laugh all the way to the bank. The only thing here that gives are the dumb people who just put up with crap service and keep on paying their bills, on time, as demanded. This is so pathetic, and we wonder why we end up with politicians like Anna Bligh and the like, this country is so wonderful, but we have an epidemic of stupid people here, it's not funny it's sad (I have two kids who were born here, one knows this is the asshole of the world, as I've taken her to the states and back home to Switzerland, the other's confused. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have dual citizenship and a means to escape to civilization, if Australian was my nationality with no other option, I don't know what I'd do, I'd probably join the ranks of those maniacs who kill themselves and their families or something. Quite sad really because we should have everything going for us, but the current state of affairs just makes me wonder and scratch my head.. WTF?
30 Apr 2011 11:36:20 AM: and the reason i love these posts is i have travelled to many european countries, America and the Asia Pacific countries. Thing is until recently australians havent been able to afford to travel so dont realise that we dont have to put up with this S#%T
30 Apr 2011 08:42:12 PM: there's good reason why we (Australians) have put up with this crap, and it's the same reason we don't typically get up in arms about other injustices: cause some Authority is there to identify the culprit and punish them.

However, in Vodafone's case, neither the ACCC nor the ACMA are not doing anything. You are absolutely right, normal ethical people are being totally rorted by Vodafone, and nothing has been done about it.

I reckon for every person who has complained there'd be 10 who haven't. Point is many many people are suffering from sh&% service. It IS someone's job to ensure that we don't suffer, and that's the ACMA. Why haven't they put ads on the TV telling ripped-off customers where to go (TIO)??? Probably cause they don't want 'more' complaints. Thing is, if they fail to do it then it's no different to turning your back to crime.

Evil prospers when good men do nothing. Thanks for nothing, ACMA!

17541 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is This Is Failure Bigtime at 28 Apr 2011 07:36:38 PM
My internet started dropping out last Easter Sunday, i rang on Monday and was told it was my computer, I reformatted the computer and installed the wifi back into the computer, same problem, no internet, i rang again, they stepped me setting the wifi to 3G only, pushed connect, still no internet, it seems the 3G internet network is not working, they asked me tobe patient and the issue will be resolved, it's been 5 days now and still no internet and still no answer as to when the network will be fixed, I was offered tonight a $10 credit for the trouble and out of that $10 I have spent $4 of it ringing Vodafone. i was told i could go with another provider for 3 months while they try to get the problem fixed and then come back to vodafone or i could have 25% taken off the next 3 bills but then i still don't have the internet but was going to be charged 75% of the bill, figure that one out.

One representative when i called laughed at me, I asked him what his problem was, he laughed again so i ripped into him and asked to be put through to the billing dept, he laughed again, another representative i was talking with had a bunch of other workers standing near him and they were joking around and laughing and clapping their hands and talking in their language and I could not hear the person i was talking with.....another representative i spoke with i could not understand a word they were saying and thought that it was just pointless and hung up the phone.

Im sick and tired of them saying "Were sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you"....that does not give me back my internet...I have told them I refuse to pay anymore money to them, I have put a complaint into the telecommunications ombudsman but it has to go to level two now as this has become more than a joke and way past failure.
29 Apr 2011 09:38:04 AM: I left Vodafu.. months ago and went to Optus. Everything ok for a while but then network seems to be getting worse and worse. Unable to connect at all yesterday and day before. Finally connected today. I suspect ALL ISP's are having network problems going by forums on www.whirlpool.net.au. None are explaining or even acknowledging the problems on their 'status' network pages.

Vodafone has the worst customer service I have ever come accross. if you go into a store it takes forever to get served and half the time they cant help you anyway. Many, many times I rang vodafone for assistance only to be put on hold for ages at a time or transfered endlessly from one person to another, each time having to explain my problem and then be told "I cant help you, I'll just put you through to some one else." Another issue with vodafone's customer service is that 'Lara' freak you have to talk to at the start - what happened to having a real person?? Why would anyone want to speak to a machine??

I could go on forever about vodafone's terrible customer service, but it just makes me angry thinking about it. For the rest of my life I will never, ever use vodafone again - they are completely useless and a joke of a business

17538 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete fail at 28 Apr 2011 07:23:31 PM
Vodafone used to send me email bills which I could pay online. When my credit card details changed their website never let me change the card details, when I logged on and filled out the information it would not go past the save details page. Then, when I tried to pay on their website it would do the same thing. This made it difficult to pay my bill as I had to do each one by Bpay instead of direct debit. When I got my final bill and tried to pay it via Bpay the payment was repeatedly rejected beacause I apparently no longer had an account with vodafone. I tried many times to pay the bill and in many different ways (credit, bpay etc). Whenever I called to get help I was put on hold for ever and when I went into the shops they were unable to help. In the end I managed to sort it out, but it took forever and I was never offered any help from vodafone to solve the problem. Now that that contract is finished I will never, ever, under any circumstances use vodafone again. They are a complete nightmare to deal with.

Dear Vodafone/3,
I would like to say I hate you and your staff at the 3 fountain gate stores which served me today. The first store told me the second had one on hold for me, the second had no idea what I was on about when I told them what the first said, and the third was downright rude. I also do love waiting in lines for 30 minutes and when visiting the third store I was told this store doesn't have that and then turning their back on me.
Then customer care releases my call twice! Third time I ring back, he offers me that I can buy the cheapest handset available and they will credit the amount to my account. I then said that does not make use of what I am paying for does it, and he had nothing to say. Fair to say Im angry.

terrible, absolutely terrible. Had 3 services with vodafone, two USB modems and a blackberry. Most shite service ever, barely could download anything, make a phonecall or even text anybody and this was in paddington, sydney. 3 kilometers from the CBD. Everytime i had to make a phone call i had to literally place my phone on the windowsill and use a bluetooth headphone in hope that i could get some sort of signal- same thing happened to the modems. It'd heat up, disconnect me and repeat. All night.

Called up several times to disconnect the modem, only one was canceled after 4 months of constant arguing every night before 8pm asking them WHY DOESNT MY MODEM WORK. Told by a consultant in mumbai that my area was congested and not enough towers were put in and that within 4 months there should be a major improvement in network speed and coverage.

um no? IT WAS WORST. had to cancel my plans and actually pay out $1000 something in cancellation fees and move to telstra. can't believe i did that but it was the BEST THING i have ever done for myself. I now no longer envy other people for their signal strength and coverage and best of all, my bills are even lower than what i was paying with vodafail.

Never again.

17524 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unbelievably bad at 28 Apr 2011 05:05:05 PM
I joined Vodafone last Nov and in my first week y number fell off the network.

I couldn't get calls forwarded to another number so my business went dead for a week while off the Vodafone network.

I was finally connected but Vodafone were unable to retrieve my voice mails for me & I therefore lost all contact with any future & current business that may have left messages.

I then gave Vodafone the benefit of the doubt & continued with the contract only to continuously receive complaints from clients and friends trying to call me but claiming that the call was going to "nothing". I have also experienced this when trying to call my wife who is also with Vodafone. My wife is currently trying to seek employment and only wonders how many potential job opportunity calls she has missed.

In frustration I was forced to leave & join Telstra in order to keep my business alive. I wish to join the class action and find out how I can claim my money back that Vodafone are demanding from me in order to payout the contract.

I can't imagine the amount of money that I have lost & Vodafone have been no help at all.

Regards,

Stupid me all this time I'm blaming my iphone with poor reception issues, drop outs, delayed vocemail and it's been Vodafone all along. Today just topped it all with "the disappearing voicemail". You know the one - let the call go through to voicemail cos' your in a queue at the bank, you hear it go through to voicemail, you attempt to retrieve the message and all of a sudden - it's gone - yep not even in deleted messages. New one to me. Panic sets in as it's used for work and pleasure, you make few obvious calls and then resort to dialling your voicemail - 121 - remember having to do that years ago? Well thankfully it was there - could've lost a client and follow-up order - thanks vodafone!!

The person on the phone argued and stated it's there and then question me what bill i'm looking at.. in my mind does it EVEN matter which bill i look at, it has to be there.. * 2 minutes later, they hanged up on me and then stated it dropped out and that vodafone system made a mistake, we'll reconnect your service in 48 hours, i'm like but this is a vodafone mistake sorry sir we can't do anything, as you were physically disconnected.. *

I have other stories regarding my bill, it's just ridiculous..

I brought 2 $28 Vodafone plans for myself and my partner late last year.
I live in Bunbury WA very close to the CBD but have extremely poor reception in my house. About 70% of time have to go out to the road to make a call. After one very long wait for Vodafone assistance and much discussion and check of my phone by the operator I was firstly given $200 free credit which I told them was near useless as I cant make calls from home!
After a few weeks I eventually got on to them and after much bargaining was told I could get out of both contracts for $300.
I am still with them as I have been to busy to change but will change to another provider in two weeks time.
It once again proves that there is no such thing as a free lunch!!!!!!
How can they get away with this? If they were in the motor trade could they sell new cars that only worked occasionally? No way. Why are Telcos allowed to be so bad?

After many years with Vodafone, i cancelled my plan with them to move across to a more competitive product which offered better coverage - my main issue with the service was data speeds which lacked significantly and was basically useless. I called to confirm the total cost, including number porting, to payout the plan and cancel the phone and mobile internet services. I was quoted at just over $300 - i proceeded with cancellation and ported the number to the competitor. I contacted Vodafone to confirm the cancellation when i was advised i was charges an additional $600 something to port the number, on top of services charges and the $300 cancellation - bill: in excess of $1000. They offered me $100 cashback to keep my business and a free iPhone 4 - firstly, i had already transferred my business to a much cheaper plan and second, i already have an iPhone 4.

Sick of calls dropping out, constant problems with no service, even in built up areas and most places in my house. I can't beleive I have to go outside to get a decent signal. Calls go straight to message bank even when I do have service. We were promised back in October that the service in our area would improve within a month or so, its now April and we are still waiting. Its an absolute joke that we are paying for a service that we are not receiving to to the fullest. The country coverage is also very poor. When it works it works well, its the coverage that seems to be he major issue. Someone needs to do an Android or iPhone coverage map App... where you could use a smart phone with location services and map the signal strength and upload the data anonymously to a central web site ... if it was done across all carriers you could CLEARLY see who is better and where... it would REALLY keep them honest and show when improvements were made etc...

I was told end of last year by vodafone that since joining with 3 mobile there service is essentially the same. Upon signing to them i instantly noticed a vast lack of service and coverage. calls drop out alot, if they dont over half are very distorted, some wont call at all and data speeds are woeful when i compare it with phones on other networks.

Poor, crackly reception on a brand new phone. Phone has been checked, it's all good! Tried to call help centre which was no help, and I could'nt understand the operator. Two weeks with no phone this is ridiculous.

17503 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No service at 28 Apr 2011 10:29:41 AM
I was told that I would have service at the location of my holiday home at the beach and then bought 2 mobile phones. You guessed it... we dont have service at all. Apparently what I was told by the sales guy was incorrect and now I have 2 phones that I cant use for 3 months of the year.

Im sick of never having service on my phone it wont even let me call 000 if I needed no one can call me and half the time I cant call out.. Yet vodafone wont let me out of my contract..
29 Apr 2011 11:46:36 PM: Dialling 112 from a mobile handset will connect you through to emergency services just like 000 if there' no service with your carrier in your area, ie: Vodafraudsters give you no service, but there's a Telstra or Optus service available, your 000 call (by dialling 112 from your handset) will put you through.

I live in some little backwater country town in the middle of nowhere called "Robina" and had precisely this situation, my daughter was mucking around with a school friend of hers on my Total Gym 1000 workout machine and fell, headbutting a bolt on the machine's bottom, had blood gushing out of her forehead, I applied a compress, picked up my iPhone, connected to "3", dialled 000, and got the beep, beeo, beep, looked at the screen and up top left it said "SEARCHING" indicating there was no service in the area, my fault for moving out into the sticks, easy peazy, dialled 112 and within 15 seconds was talking to an operator, gave her my address and about 8 minutes the ambulance arrived, and we were on our way to Robina Hospital. Everything went alright, and my girlie girl had two stitches to show off to her classmates at her school (Varsity college). My only regret is I should have chosen my place of residence more wisely, not choosing to live in some backwater middle-of-nowhere place like Robina LOL, just because you're surrounded by houses left right and centre or you got one of the biggest shopping centres on the coast, one that's had over $20 million spent on it recently in refurbishment, doesn't mean you're going to get a decent mobile phone service, yes this is Australia, loser country full of losers, but remember, when things go pear shaped and 000 won't do it, dial 112, it's the international 911, 000, etc
29 Apr 2011 11:53:37 PM: ...and they will let you out of your contract if you make a formal, detailed complaint to the TIO - you see most aussies are completely stupid and just keep on paying their phone bills and whinge and rant and put up with crap service, so as far as the telco's concerned, TIO directives to release complainants from their contracts are a tiny minority, makes no difference to them, most aussies are too stupid to stand up for their rights, telcos comply without question (TIO rebuttal usually reserved for what they deem unreasonable complaints), doesn't happen, the population of Australia en-large is so stupid and complacent, even a few thousand directives by the TIO to release these people from their contracts, and let them keep their (subsidised) handsets will make about as much difference to their bottom line, as you pissing in the ocean at Bondi Beach, and expecting subsequent pollution effects at Main Beach, Gold Coast.. LOL

17501 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Reception issue at 28 Apr 2011 10:01:50 AM
I was told by a Vodafone representative that the reception would be as good as Telstra anywhere in Victoria. "WRONG" I travel to the high country quite often and have no service. I work in east Melbourne and the service is just as hopeless. will be reverting back to Telstra when contract ends.
28 Apr 2011 07:46:15 PM: Don't wit for the contract to end, demand they release you from it on the grounds of not providing the service.

17500 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very bad at 28 Apr 2011 09:28:18 AM
Have an internet stick. For the first 5-15 mins it uploads at high speeds BUT no download. When I do get download it drops out every few minutes. It is even slower since I installed their update a few weeks ago.

Also since installing their update I have had an increase in the amount of spam I am receiving.

I was told that people on high cost contracts get first priority - Why? If you pay for a service you should get the service they advertise OR Vodaphone should state in their advertising that some customers on low cost plans will get inferior service.

17498 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SCAM at 28 Apr 2011 09:11:13 AM
No wonder Vodafail can sponsor so many events, teams, etc, with towers programmed to drop out every 30 sec throughout metro NSW and if your'e in country NSW forget it, buy a carrier pigion you will get a better result. Here i am sitting in the office my phone has not moved yet the signal strength has gone from full to 0 every 30 to 40 sec "Please Explain" are your towers mobile??? how is this possible, ahh maybe its the wind. I will Support ANY action against this scam of a telco. Vodafone is a scam.
28 Apr 2011 06:47:32 PM: The random reception bars is one of the great mysteries of Vodafone, I can save you time on hold by telling you to turn your phone on and off again, wiping and replacing your sim, and after that that their must be a problem with "YOUR" phone.
Suggest that the network is at issue, and they will tell you that they have upgraded and tested the towers in your area, and are "VERY" satisfied with the results of that test.
Replicating the test, probably involves affixing a 6 M antenna with a high gain signal booster to your car and driving around your suburb until you find a single bar of reception and then signing off the work sheet.
My test involved driving around with both a Vodafone and before moving to NextG, an Optus phone. Most times I would look at the Optus phone on 3 or 4, and the Vodafone on 1 or 2 if at all, When I did see 4 bars on my Vodafone, I almost fell over, I couldn't believe it.

a number of text messages the past weekend never reached their intended recipients, and then I had a couple of cut outs whilst speaking on top. Now Rose Bay isn't that out of the way ...
