26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

20858 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Credit not issued as promised at 13 Feb 2012 08:23:42 PM
I went to NZ for 2 weeks about the same time that Vodafone decided to upgrade their systems. I checked usage regularly and never got close to the roaming data limit on the data pack specifically purchased for my holiday.
Only upon return to Oz did I discover that usage records was 4-5 days behind for roaming data and that I would be charged an extra approx $200 for their incompetent and slow systems. I am supposed to read their fine print and understand the delay! After an hour on the phone complaining, I managed to a get a $100 credit approved - but guess what, they didn't process the credit, so it wasn't put on the bill, even though this bill was issued 12 days later! Apparently I have to pay the full $300+ bill and then wait for the next 4 months to use up the credit that they now says will be refunded on the next bill......

Are their systems so bad that they really are incapable of updating a bill that isn't due to be paid for another 2 weeks?????
They need another new system I think!
They will lose this customer (plus all my family members) as soon as I can withdraw from their contract.

VODAFONE'S NEW NETWORK OF HORRORS

I am still checking the RECEPTION (bars) and towers in brisbane.
last week:

thurs 09/02/12 6-10am
fri 10/02/12 6-10am
sat 11/02/12 6-10am
sun 12/02/12 6-10am

My study showed MOST NO SERVICE/BAD RECEPTION/POOR RECEPTION by viewing the area'a or towers on my handset in these hours.

1.Between 10 minutes to the hour(worst)
2.On the hour to about 30 minutes past the hour each day.(worst)
The bars fluctuated between 1-5 bars whilst standing still.
The towers fluctuated from under the tower where I am at, to wild extremes to towers 12kms away.
It was wild fluctuation.

In this timeframe I counted about 100 times where my handset showed 1 bar and no towers.
100 times 2 bars and no towers
100 times 3 bars and no towers
100 times 4 bars and no towers
On many ocassions 0 bars and no towers
On many ocassions towers with many fluctuations 1-3 bars.

My conclusion is that any crap, that comes from mouths of the 1555 MUMBAI Vodafone NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, about how there is no reception problem, is just what it is .....CRAP!!!

I have to think ,is Vodafone removing the towers, one by one,not building them.

ADR (vodafone's personal attack dog) have been continually breaching the ACCC's guidelines regarding debt collection (coercion, harrasment of a 3rd party, threatening, etc)

and im curious, who else has had this experience?

(for anyone who doesnt remember, ADR used to be a direct subsidary company of vodafone, before going out on their own around 12-18 months ago)

20850 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is BILLS, PHONE AND OVERDUE BILLS at 12 Feb 2012 11:22:24 PM
Well were do i start, in Aug 2011 my 2 year contract finished up. so i went to the vodafone store to see what new phone i could get on the $29 cap same one that i had been on for 2 years and NEVER went over, anwyas i ended up with NEXUS S , 1st week of having the phone too many problems with the speaker so i took it back and they were happy to give me a new nexus s, 2nd nexus s fone and same problems so this time i went to the store again and they kept me in the store for 3 hours and said they couldn't swap the phone cause they couldn't hear the problem, 3 hours later i left the store in tears and no new phone, so i rang telecomunications and they straight away resolved the issue and said that i had 28 days from when the phone was issued and shoudl be allowed to get a new one just go to the store and they shoudl give you a new one, well did that went to a differnet vodfail store this time no problems in giveing me my 3rd nexus s phone, had it for 3 half months no problems untill it STOPPED WORKING, couldn't hear my phone ring couldn't watch a video, so i decided to take it in to repairs as i thought they wouldn't give me anew phone again since i had this one for nearly 4 months, get it back after 15 MINS IN REAPIRS AND THEY SAY AHHH WE JUST DID A SYSTEM UPGRADE AND YOUR PHONE SHOULD BE FINE NOT TO MENTION THE SPEAKER WASN'T WORKING, i said okay what ever a left the repairs store a week later i'm back at reapir and they tell me they will change the speaker this time , so i had to wait now till after xmas to get my fone back.
they call me up to let me know that my phone was ready to pick up, this time i get my phone and a wek later i am BACK AGAIN CAUSE my camera wasn't working , every 3 photo's the 4th would come out completely black , they say come back in half an hour and we will tell you if we need to wait for a new part,
go back and THEY TELL ME IT NEEDS ANEW MOTHERBOARD SO MY WHOLE PHONE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED INSIDE, DON'T FORGET IT'S ONLY A 4 MONTH OLD FONE, 2 days later i get a call telling me to go and pick up my phone :(
so i go back TO REPAIRS WERE I HAVE BEEN NOW 3 WEEKS IN A ROW,
A WOMEN CALLS MY NUMBER OUT AND I SIT DOWN AT THE DESK AND SHE GOES HERE YOU GO,
I LOOKED AT THE PHONE AND SEE IT'S NOT MY PHONE,
IT'S NOT THE PHONE I WALKED IN WITH SO THEY COULD REPLACE THE WHOLE MOTHER BOARD,
i asked her where is my phone and she said this is what samsung sent in for you it's a refurbished phone, I WAS CONFUSSED AND PUZZELD AND SHOCKED ALL IN ONE, AS SOON AS I LEFT THE STORE RIGHT OUT SIDE I CALL CUSTOMER COMPLANTS TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I WASN'T HAPPY THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME MY PHONE BACK WHICHI WAS 4 MONTHS OLD THE GACE ME APHONE WHICH HAD PROBLEMS AND WAS JUST FIXED UP, SO THEY TOLD ME I COULD GO TO THE STORE AND GET new nexus s KEEPING COUNT THIS IS MY 4TH ONE NOW IN A TOTAL OF 5 MONTH, THIS PHONE WAS BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX AND STILL DID THE SAME RUBBISH MY OLD ONES DID TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID AWW THE MANGER ISN'T IN SO I HAD TO WAIT TILL AFTER NEW YEAR, Jan 2012 i ring up the manger at the store and she told me ring up the 1555 number and see if they would give you permission for anew phone so i did , on the phone for 2 and half hours screaming at them saying i DIDN'T WANT THIS NEXUS S PHONE ANYMORE AND THIS WAS MY 4TH NEXUS SO I DON'T LIKE THESE PHONES TO MANY PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS, OKAY THEY TELL ME ONLY PHONE I CAN GET ARE CRAP OLD FONES CAUSE THE NEXUS S WAS ONLY WORTH $200 SO I WAS ONLY ALLOWED A $200 PHONE,
CHUCKED A BIG STICK UP ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SUPERVISER AS THEY GUY I WAS TALKING SAID HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME I WASN'T HAPPY THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A NEW PHONE ONCE MY PHONE HAD BE TO REAPIRS 3 TIMES THEY WOULD ALLOW ME TO GET A NEW PHONE, MY PHONE HAD BEEN 4 TIMES AND STILL THEY WOULDN'T GIVE ANOTHER BRAND ONLY NEXUS S AND IS AID I WANTED THE HTC, AND THEY WOULDN'T LET ME HAVE IT ONLY IF I PAID $100 TO GET A PHONE THAT IS ON A $29 CAP , WHIHCI I THINK IS BULL CAUSE I AM PAYING 29 CAP FOR 24 MONTHS I SHOULD HAVE APHONE THAT'S ON THAT PLAN ANYWAYS I MANGED TO GET new htc sentation and i haven't had a problem with my phone since.
but my 29 cap plan also goese over every month i owe more then $200, I HATE VODAFAIL WITH A PASSION, GET THIS I AM NOW WATCHING MY CAP USEAGE ON MY PHONE WITH THE LINK AND I JUST NOTICED I AM STIL $67 LEFT FROM $180 BUT THEY HAVE CHARGED ME .50 CENTS FOR ANUMBER I NEVER TEXTED OR CALLED AND SAY I OWE THEM 50 CENTS MORE NOW HAHAHAHAHAHAH WHAT A JOKE THIS COMPANY IS AFTER MY 2 YEAR CONTRACT IS UP I AM LEAVING AND GOING SOMEWHERE BETTER VODAFAIL FOR SURE PUT ME THROUGH HELL AND BACK
13 Feb 2012 08:41:52 AM: You are unlucky for Nexus S. Leave the phone alone pleaseeeeeeeeee
13 Feb 2012 01:38:29 PM: Why not ,as one reader suggests, change your address to a post office .

Australia Post accepts the following address, EG. (Joh Blough C/O Sydney Post Office 2000 NSW)
This is a legitamate address.
Then place a redirection in at the post office using Australia Post forms and get your mail sent back to you.

Find an area where there is no vodafone reception,(on Vodafone maps)and have your contract cancelled due to no reception.(with no penalty)

Latest Bus Advertising by Telsra.

I read a big sign on the side of a bus a couple of days ago in Brisbane advertising Telstra Mobile network. The big sign went something like this.

'So you want to choose a Smartfone?'
'Dont choose a Dumb Network'
Obviously Telstra was referring to VODAFONE!

I think Telstra got it a little wrong.
Which word would you have used? DUMB ,DUMBER,DUMBEST.

20846 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Over billing and Auto contract renewed :( at 11 Feb 2012 11:07:38 PM
From last two months, Vodafone billing is beyond my understanding and I ready very angry and want to sue this shit company.
I made enormous amount of phone calls (wasted allot of time). And yet they don’t understand or want to understand my issues.
OK start over again------
I signed a contract almost 15 months ago, and I was using the services with the number (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED) (Account 1). The contract was for 24month/$69 cap with $10 rebate on plan. So I was paying only $59.
Last month, I decided to get an-additional number, so I signed a new contract and have additional account with the number (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED) (Account 2).
>>> Now the first issue was that they charged me for two months for account 1 with $69 cap.
When I called and asked clarification, the customer operator said, that because I requested new account (which I didn’t) that’s why you are charged extra and you are still getting that $10 discount for your account 1. And next month I will get rebate back from the closed account, so my Feb bill will be adjusted.
Which is still not adjusted.....
>>>>> Second issue, the last bill (for the month of Jan usage) came unexpectedly very high. I am checking regularly my balance with 1555. On 21/01/2012 the balance message came as I have $385 (cannot remember exact numbers) worth of calls available.
(Note: These facts were taken from excel sheet saved on 5/2/2012) When I checked again on 27/01/2012 I already not even used that amount and also exceeded real dollar value of $84.63 (extra to my monthly quota), though I only used if we consider from 19/01/2012 till 25/01/2012 (Vodafone needs at-least two days to update the system—shocking) = $319.08 worth of calls.
My last conversation ended up in veins as operator said, wait until you get bill, and then call us.
And he was not excepting the service fault, which clearly shows lack in giving real information. Operator was saying we have major upgrade is going on that’s why.... and also other excuses.
I think it is Vodafone fault which allowed me to axcced my monthly phone quota. Therefore I should not pay that excess amount.
>>>> Thirdly the $10 discount on my cap is still not applied.

20844 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic at 11 Feb 2012 08:40:14 PM
I signed up for a $29 iPhone plan. My Vodafone pre-pay number was to be transferred to my new plan. The transfer would take approx. 30mins. It is now day 8 and I still have no number. My number was disconnected during the transfer and then the transfer failed. So for eight days I have been desperately trying to get my number up and running again. The only response I ever get from 1555 number is "it will be working in 24-48 hours", of course it never is. I have been in communication via email with Vodafone customer support and they agree with me that it's not ok that I still do not have my number working, but they cannot tell me when the error will be fixed. I have been into the store and they couldn't help, they told me it would be fixed in 4hours and that was over 24hours ago. My number is the contact number for my childs school and for my childs disability support services, it is my contact number for my work, it is my contact number for my personal life. I have been without it for 8 days and counting and no one at Vodafone in any department can tell me when it will be fixed. I was given a temporary number for the plan, but there is a fault on that number so only I can call out on it but I can not receive incoming calls or text. So thanks to Vodafone, no one has been able to contact me via phone call or SMS for 8 days and counting. I have never felt so disempowered and frustrated; it's very stressful and still ongoing.

20841 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is broadband usage at 11 Feb 2012 09:02:40 AM
cannot gauge or stop going over usage because usage is updated "Most usage is updated within 48 hours, but some activities including roaming and data usage may take longer" So, i have to make sure I that 2days before end of billing cycle i have at least 2gig of my 8 gig limit up my sleeve and inform my wife and 2 teenage daughters not to use the internet. So I am not receiving what i pay for. My family are fully aware and very careful so as to not go over limit. People say to DL this and that data app so you can monitor your usage. I shouldn't have to go to these extremes. Even armed with this info Vodafone does not care so what's the point. Why can't this telco just stop when i reach my limit with only limited access to Email, FB and the like until start of new billing cycle? I and my wife are on pensions and every $dollar is accounted for. My only option as i can see is to use those USB things and prepay but at least i will have piece of mind that i'm not going to get a $106 bill which should have been $39. My opinion!! they are aware a lot of people like myself are not that tech knowledgeable and will constantly go over their data limit which equates to $dollars in the bank. Oh and yes has happened a few times over 10mth period.

Refresh rate is so slow that we cannot trust ourselves to count on it to make our online buying successful, choking network times out transaction on buy ins.

I wish to recharge my mobile using credit card as I have always done but because the credit card expires 02/12 recharge is not accepted by vodafone. My new credit card comences 02/14 and is not activated by my banking institution until end of February. Vodafone system appears to be the only system that ceases to accept credit cards from the beginning of the month. My 02/12 visa card is accepted in all other areas and will be accepted until end of the month. This means I have to wait one month to recharge. My recharge is by credit card because I travel extensively to remote places and buying vouchers is inconvienient to say the least. Although service is not that good in many areas I do find spots of service.

20836 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Voda/3 Reception Problems at 10 Feb 2012 03:04:57 PM
I used to laugh at my mates when they used to complain about reception issues with their voda handsets. I personally have been with Three since the days of Orange.

For the last 2 weeks I have been having really bad reception issues with my 3 handset. I have a Galaxy S2 (have tried another S2 with the same symptoms)and when I am in my office (Homebush, NSW) I have zero bars (no reception at all). Mind you I have been sitting in the same location for the last 4 years and have never had any issues.

At times when I do manage to get signal (while in my office), it might be 1-3 bars but it's always on roaming. I have also noticed when I am in open air and I get the 3G signal, it's still quite low. The signal strength hovers between 1-3 bars.

I was wondering if anyone is having similar issues?

Tried to swap regualr sim to microsim for my new ipad, went through 20 calls, three sims swaps(they seem to fail one after another within 6 hours)and thousands of absusive words later yesterday, Vodafone refused to apologize.
When I demanded cancellation without any penalty charges(as I have suffered for the last 6 mths) its Customer Retention Manager can only promise to call me 48 hours later. What did that tell me? They must be bombards with thousand of such request everyday. Any one want to start a class action against Vodafone?

My husband has been sending SMS to get balance. 1 week had the same data usage then dropped down to 500gb. When I looked on the Internet his balance was 5 days back. I rang Vodafone and he actually owed 3 dollars extra now as he had gone over. Vodafone wanted me to get my husbands phone checked out by the technical department. I advised him my husband has been on YouTube and he has used the data. Maybe vodafone should be put through to technical department and be fixed not my phone. I also told them that when we send to get the balance it should say EXACTLY what date the balance is from. Yet now all they say to protect themselves is that usage could be up to 48 hours delayed. Now my husband still has till 20th to bill cycle to start again and $60 outstanding. I complained and they said that when I receive bill to call back and they would credit $60. But I'm sure that will take me hours again to credit. Yes once again Vodafone needs to be put through to the technical department because they are seriously bad. I am with optus and they are not fantastic, but I have 5 gig Internet and never go over, my hubby has 4gig and it eats it up. I'm always on the Internet my husband is only on at night. Just doesn't make sence.

Vodafail have, as their message says, "upgraded" their billing system but there are now problems with it - what a surprise ! I called twice earlier this week and when i got to the point that I told them I had a billing query - the system told me that they were too busy to take my call and they told me to call back again - call ended.

I called today and spoke to someone who told me they had system problems and could not see my account - I had to call back.

This company is a joke and unfortunately my company has chosen Vodafail as supplier - I dropped 3 a year ago and will NEVER return to either company presonally - just like I refuse to fly KLM ever again after a farce many years ago and I make sure nobody I know does either.

Is Anyone at Vodafail ever going to take responsibility for this nonsense.

20822 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very Failed at 9 Feb 2012 11:45:23 AM
Vodafone does not allow phone calls to South Sudan. I spoke with customer service who do not even seem to know what they are doing. Wrote to the Resolutions Centre who told me that Vodafone needs agreement with South Sudan before calls to that country are allowed. I asked if there are other countries that Vodafone does not have agreements with, the gave examples like Sierra Leone, Sao Tome, Afghanistan but it turns out, even without agreements, it is possible to make phone calls to these countries (for they even have calling rate to these countries) at perhaps higher calling rates! This all I needed; to be able to use my credit to call my family and friends in South Sudan, but the resolution department thinks the only way to resolve this issue is to kick me out of the network! They do not have calling rates to the country and do not even have the country code +211 in their system. Even on Vodafone global website, they still have Sudan as one country....basically, they believe South Sudan does not exist!
9 Feb 2012 05:25:50 PM: I'm a disgruntled v. done customer but I think they gave you a legitimate reason - it is not that they do not think that Sound Sudan exists, it is exactly as they told you ie. they do not have an agreement with South Sudan. How do you know that they didn't try? Maybe they did and South Sudan didn't want one....

I've been with Vodafail for about 21 months and have found the 3G network to be woeful and I live in Newtown (3 km from the city). I was waiting for my contract to end when I decided enough was enough and thought that $150 to end my contract was worth it. I knew when my contract ended but I wanted to call Vodafail to confirm. They wouldn't tell me when my contract was ending until I I told them why. When I did, I got siphoned off to someone else who offered me a new phone and some other freebies to which I answered, "I appreciate what you are offering but if the network is no good, what's the point of a new phone?". After hanging up, I got a phone call from them stating they would halve my bill for the remainder of my contract with no conditions.

While I appreciate this reasonable level of customer service, the truth is that you've blown it Vodafail. You've lost my trust and the trust of thousands of other customers. I will never go back and will never recommend you to anyone else. This is the price you pay for your spin and lies over the last 1-2 years. Fix your network and then maybe you might get some credibility back. But even then, I wont be back!
9 Feb 2012 05:27:35 PM: I agree - I've been to Newton in Sydney and every time I am there, there is little or no reception.

I am sick of the Vodafone network. My wife and I have both just purchased iPhones and have connected to the Vodafone network. We both have reception issues everywhere. I also use my phone for work and it is an absolute joke when customers cannot get through. I don't get voicemail until hours later. I cannot send text messages, I cannot send emails it is totally useless. In this day and age of technology this is an absolute joke. All I want to know is when will it be fixed or am I waiting my time waiting around?

As far as your issue is concerned, have you approached VF to advise VF of the problem?

If you have and the position has not improved, then your next step is to take the matter to the TIO.

20816 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DOING DELIBERATE RECEPTION INTERFERENCE at 8 Feb 2012 02:26:21 PM
I have studied the towers and reception bars on my handset for days now, around Brisbane, paying heavy attention to how the towers(area's) jump all over the place from one extreme to the other.

Within a minute, I could be under one tower,(5 bars)then shoot off to a tower,12 kms away with 1 bar, then the next, a tower 2kms away with(2 bars),then a tower 7kms away with 3 bars, then nothing,no tower no bars, then under the tower which I live (5 bars) then away to the tower 10kms away with (1 bar)......

This is all within one minute.
To take a study over 5 minutes this will get crazy!!!!

Easy to see why a Vodafone engineer takes days, weeks, and months to figure out nothing, when you ring Mumbai waiting for your answer.
Then have to ring again ,and again, and again.

SIMPLE!
Vodafone knows that they are stealing from you, because there is No Way In Hell Vodafone will supply an authorised Vodafone engineers report to any Austalian Authority.

It would get shot down in flames in any court!!!!!!!!!

VODAFONE,........ HAPPILY STEALING YOUR MONEY!
8 Feb 2012 04:03:57 PM: Exert from story from Sydney Morming Herald 25thJanuary 2012

Vodafone Hutchison Australia was born in June 2009, after Vodafone merged with '3' Hutchison.

VHA faces several financial challenges this year, including a potential $670-million bill to renew its 800-megahertz spectrum licence. It also has $3 billion worth of loans due in June 2013. VHA borrowed funds from 12 banks in June 2010 to repay loans of $1.25 billion from each parent company, and pay Vodafone a $500-million merger equalisation fee.

Vodafone needs your money, anyway they can get it.
BEG, BORROW, OR STEAL IT.
They may not have a Mobile Spectrum Licence this year.

a.government decides not to licence this absolute reckless telco.
b.Vodafone will not have the money to pay for the licence.
c.The ACCC will bring criminal charges against Vodafone executives.
d.All of the above

9 Feb 2012 01:57:45 PM: 'Exert from Delimiter'courtesy Renai Lemay 9th feb 2012

[For the six months to the middle of 2011, Vodafone revealed in August, it actually lost some 375,000 mobile customers, with the besieged mobile telco struggling to shake off poor customer sentiment stemming from its disastrous series of network outages in late 2010 and early 2011. Some 110,000 of those lost customers were due to a change in the way Vodafone reports its customer numbers, however.
...............................................................................
You know folks,.....some things never change.
The only thing, that Vodafone changes, is that it gets worse, and worse, and worse.
It's public relations stories get taller, and taller, and taller.
It's network and corparate behaviour gets lower, and lower, and lower.

i was on holidays in sunshine coast jan 2012 and was billed for roaming calls and data in a area where i could use a redbullmobile sim which is a reseller for vodafone and not have any data or roaming charges, lucky i purchased a redbull mobile sim card to use otherwise my bill would have been much much higher than the $110 i was charged for roaming, i have since stayed on redbull mobile paid the $365 for 365 days unlimited call to landlines 1800 1300 and mobiles, and 5G a month on data, and have paid out vodafone for the 3 months i had left on my contract. strange vodafone are charging 3 for areas that were never charged as roaming before and not roaming with redbull mobile. Seems like vodafone want to shut down the 3 network in a hurry.

20810 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is finally releasing me from the chains of my contract at 8 Feb 2012 09:47:58 AM
I'm lucky enough to be moving to an address with no vodafone coverage at all. So they've happily ended my contract with no cancellation fees.

My advice: get a post box (or use a friends') and change your mailing address to that.

Find an address on their coverage map with absolutely no signal and call them to change your residential address to that.

Then tell them you have no signal and would like to cancel your contract. They'll tell you they'll not charge you for your next 3 months if/because their planned upgrades are happening. After that they have no choice but to cancel your contract at no expense to you. (you will have to send your phone back though, so don't do this if you're only 6 months off away from paying off your phone)

If you check this page

http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail_network/a_id/3730

It looks like most of South QLD has network issues, and according to the report engineers are on the case. It does take some time to work out why the failure and then to rectify, suggest switching your phone off for around 10 secs, and then back every 30 mins or so..

There is not much else that you can do. Switching it off and on forces the SIM to recheck for network, if it gets resolved and you haven't, it may still appear that the network is unavailable.

20807 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is frustrating fail at 8 Feb 2012 08:42:08 AM
It appears there is no service on the Sunshine Coast with SOS only option available. I appreciate that issues will inevitably arise with the service but surely an immediate update to the vodaphone website alerting people to this issue, and/or email advice advising the issue and likely remedy time/date would reduce the frustration people are feeling by continually trying to problem solve it themselves. Even a message on the local radio stations for the announcers to simply give a heads up to customers of the poor service would be greatly appreciated by vodaphone users. So, when will it be fixed vodaphone? At least give us some customer feedback if you can't provide service at the moment!

I can not believe that hundreds of voda staff are being let go and yet the CEO keeps his job.

These are people that have worked their guts out and do not deserve to go home and have to tell their family they no longer have a job due to the incompetence of the execs at the company.

This is truly the wrost ending possible for this whole debacle and I truly feel terrible for the people that are being affected by this.

Nigel, you should be ashamed of yourself!
8 Feb 2012 08:14:24 AM: you think employees have had it tough, think about the customers!! somebody think of the customers!! :o
8 Feb 2012 01:52:35 PM: Don't be so self centred and arrogant.

You had service drop out which is why they are in this mess, but that should not mean the people that were doing their job should now not have an income.

Think of them for a second and then let's hold the execs to account!
8 Feb 2012 03:29:48 PM: If you look at the picture Australian 26th jan 2012 of Nigel Dews CEO Vodafone
Story: 'Vodafone Australia to slash jobs in restructure.'
It looks like the Captain of a sinking ship, already destroyed.
Look closely at his eyes, and you tell me if they are not bloodshot and pinned!!!
9 Feb 2012 01:50:56 PM: 01:52:35 PM I am 08:14:24 AM. I had to lay off one worker when business began drying up in Sept (yes, it started earlier than the news reported) 2010 - noone would listen to me (not Vodafail nor the TIO). I had to let him go. He's a young man in his mid-twenties, long-term partner, renting... I happen to know he hasn't found full-time work since.

So who am I more sorry for, the customers or the employees of Vodafail? Neither, I'm more sorry for those who've done nothing wrong but have been affected via their income or their emotional lives.

FYI it's not even the executives to blame, they just did their jobs. Who's to blame then? it's the regulators.

Not to give you the wrong impression of trying to make Vodafone look better than it is, but as a worker in one of the shops I honestly strive to give you the customer the best experience I can.

Sure, we can't fix everything for you on the spot, but we try. If we need to, we'll try alternatives. I'll admit, depending on the area you live in i'll suggest Telstra.

Upgrades for 3g equipment was done between July/December 2011 (including 6 new towers). Should be a few more new towers by May this year (850mhz, including for howard springs).

I do NOT think you should get Vodafone if you live in Roseberry or Howard Springs, they are the 2 worst areas.

One last thing, is it reeeeaaaally so hard to keep a receipt stapled to a contract from getting lost? It makes things a ton easier for everyone involved if we're unable to find a proof of purchase in your account.

I was with 3 and joined Vodafone now that they have merged. I have been with them for 2 months now and have had nothing but trouble. When I received my phone in the mail it took 1 WEEK to port the number across to my new phone. In the past this has usually taken a few hrs max with other phone companies I have been with. Finally once my phone was up and working the service has been pretty crap. I was told reception would be the same as 3 but a beg to differ. Once I received my bill, it was incorrect. I rang and queried it and they said they would fix the issue but my next bill has come and it is exactly the same, still being overcharged. I rang them again and was told it would be fixed on the next bill. Lets see what happens when the next bill arrives. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.. and I still have 22 months and counting to go!! :( Cannot wait to get away from this company!!!! Service his shocking!!!

My old modem was far more reliable and had a consistent speed for mobile broadband. The pocket wifi2 is so slow and the network is at a choke, first weekday peakday.

I want to know if I can get out.

My number was only ported on Sat 3 February and I was told that I would experience a significant difference when brought across to Vodafail.

I would really appreciate them actually doing what they promise after so many spruked emails claiming improvement, this is the pits.

My partner and I have been on 3mobile for some time now, so we could call each other for free and she could call her 3mobile friends for free. But all her friends changed to vodafone so yesterday she changed to Vodafone.
We had to do it in store at coles, because we couldn't get through on the phone. Even when we took up the "call back" option, we just went back on hold.
But the girl at Coles in chadstone was really helpful.
So anyway, today the phone(New iPhone 4s) has been charged and is working fine, but it doesn't prompt you to enter a password for wifi??? Mine always does!
So I turned wifi off and tried the same google search with each phone, on 3, my phone found results in 2-3 seconds... About 1.5 mins later, her phone popped-up as unable to connect to server!
I can call her from the next room, but the reception is worse than when I used to have a Nokia 5110 12 years ago!
I'm hoping there's a way out of this, because I can't imagine another 24 months of this rubbish!

20785 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extreme FAIL FAIL FAIL at 6 Feb 2012 03:26:21 PM
Vodaphone has reported a default to a credit reporting company! I changed my address with them and paid the final amount after reporting that despite telling there was coverage for internet from my unit, there was none, dropping out etc. They would not assist. I had to pay out the contract. I put the internet usb in a draw and never turned it on - ever. Yet, I was getting dataa usage charges for it at early hour times - when I was asleep. I complained each time and they said they would credit - they never did.

Paying the final bill, I find nearly 12 months later a default for a considerable sum on my credit rating. I have no correspondence, no debt collectors bill or phone calls from them pre-warning me that I owed them anything. I have contacted vodaphone to be passed between departments as they cand find no record of my account (it is closed and not showing) but they say there is a an outstanding amount when through to credit control. I have had to ring a credit agency who they say are handling the matter externally but when I called this company they said that the file is no longer in their hands. There is no record on their system of any of the calls I have made to sort out the situation and when trying to speak to someone who understands me and knows what they are doing, the call keeps dropping out and then I have to ring back and go through everything again. Conveniently, none of these calls are ever logged and you end up screaming! The last attempt to sort this issue out I spent 4.5 hours on the phone back and forth calling back etc! COnsequently, because they can send me any copies or information, I cannot rectify this sitution and I cannot clear it from my once impeccable credit rating which ultimtely affects my ability to obtain credit despite my assets and salary. I cannot get through to anyone to help me here nor can I go to a store to sort it out as I have nothing from them pertaining to this alleged outstanding debt. I have not received any mail from this stupid company in more than 14 months!!! I updated my details with them too - but they never seem to have records of anything!!! everytime I ring these muppets up, no one knows what I am taalking about and I get told different information each time. It is making me irate and it has severely affected my credit which is unacceptable. They are completely incompetent, lying cheats!!!
12 Feb 2012 11:41:39 PM:
17 Feb 2012 05:02:28 AM: Thank you! I have done this and waiting. Vodaphone have now referred it to a credit agency. Turns out vodaphone provided them with an address for me on the otherside of the country!!!! The account was opened in Perth but they some how found an old address for me in Victoria!!! Yet they have no record of the address I updated them with!! So they sending default letters to an address I hAvent lived at for years and never gave them and can't explain where they got it from ! So now we have a breach of privacy! This also went on the ombudsman's complaint ! The ombudsman's office were fantastic to deal with! This company is just plain dodgy! I'd like to know where they got my former address in a different state from And assume I live there!!! Furious! To make matters worse, trying to explain this, debt collector snapped at me, demanded payment (remember I have no paperwork from anyone- then hung up on me. Funny how they agency has my ph number yet no one from vodaphone has ever called !!!!
21 Feb 2012 02:58:14 PM: Based on this information you have grounds to contact Veda or whoever the CR agency is and DEMAND it be corrected. They'll try n tell you to contact VF but THEY have to to determibe if it was correctly listed. You are entitled to MAJOR compensation due you inability to access credit during this time. 20782 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Customer Service at 6 Feb 2012 08:22:34 AM
To say I am in a mess with Vodafone now,is a bit of a stretch. HOWEVER,due to their repair departments lack of effiency and one of their store managers telling an out and out lie to my face,I am now going to break my contract with them and go elsewhere.
On the 6th of December I took my HTC Legend which was no longer working to the nearest Vodafone shop, because I thought there was something wrong with it that would be covered by warranty(the phone was only 8 months old)Anyway the guy in the shop said that the phone had a cracked LCD screen, which is not a warranty issue(as if I needed to be told it was not a warranty issue)After going home and ringing my insurance company,I returned and left the phone at the shop to be sent for repairs. The insurance ocmpany wanted a quote on repair costs or if it could not be repaired, the replacement cost.Within a few days I had the quote and put it in to the insurance company. They gave me the go ahead for repairs on the 16th of December and I immediately rang the repair centre to confirm repairs could go ahead.I also told them I would be going away and would not be able to collect the phone until around the 30th of Decememer. The person I spoke to said that this was not problem as it could be held for up to 90 days at the shop.Anyway whilst I was away I got about 3 SMS telling me my phone was ready to pick up.I rang the repair centre on the 27th of December and told them I would collect the phone NOW IT WAS REPAIRED no later then the 1st of January.I went to the store to collect it on the 30th and noticed it had not been repaired, only to be told that I had rejected the quote, which is garbage,it is an insurance claim and they knew I had not rejected anything. The man at the shop said he would send it away that afternoon(30/12) and it would be back the following Friday(6/1) as there was a one week turn around.SO back to the shop I go on the 6th,only to find that the phone had not even been sent away.According to the sales staff I spoke to I had rejected the quote.Turns out that the man I had spoke to the previous week was the store manager and he had stood there and lied to my face.I retrieved my phone and took it elsewhere for repairs and finally got it back a few days ago.I have complained long and loud about the whole episode and their "good will" gesture is to offer me two months credit. So I will stay with them long enough to use the credit and then I am going to break my contract and go elsewhere.I have been with Vodafone for many years and have never really had any problems(some signal loss at times excepted) but never again.Seems to me they are losing a lot of customers for any number of different reasons but the biggest reason is poor service.
7 Feb 2012 10:50:50 AM: do a prepaid test on other networks before you resign with another network, its much cheaper buying a prepaid to see if networks are better than one you where using, i had very little coverage in my area with optus, very good coverage with telstra but calls way to expensive, but purchased redbullmobile which use vodafone network which was as good as telstra in the areas i need to use phone, so do a bit of homework before you resign.
7 Feb 2012 07:19:44 PM: Thanks for your reply. In the area I live in I know a few people with Optus, who have no trouble. This also applies to Telstra.Unfortunately as I want an iPhone 4s,which is unavailable on prepaid through any company that I can find, this is not an option.Optus is slightly cheaper then Telstra and offers a better deal on the plan I am thinking of going on to.Voda is not too bad reception wise in the area I am in,but there are call drop outs at times.I have been looking at a number of options over the past few weeks, including buying the iPhone outright and going prepaid to be sure.Just the phone in MUCH cheaper if I get it on contract.

20778 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is contract at 5 Feb 2012 10:24:23 AM
im on a $45 plan. They charge more.
My contract was signed in September 2011.
It was not untill december 2011 that I recieved my phone and sim card.
By this stage I was in Europe. I recieved a text message while in Europe saying 'you will now be connected to Vodafone', off course I could put my new sim in my phone becsuse i was 20000km away.
By this stage I was on the Costa Serena cruise ship. At this time the Costa Concordia hit rocks and my family in Australia was worried. They could not contact me, and were under the impression that I was dead.
On my return to Australia on the 29th jan 2012 I put my new sim into my phone. At this stage I noticed that I had 2 months of Vodafone bills, and after 5 days in Australia my phone was barred for not paying my bills.
So lets summarise this....
5 days of phone connection,
with 2 months of phone bills at $133 (noting that my contract should be $45 month) with an agreed Nokia N8, yet a Nokia E7 was sent instead)
and an apparent 3 months free incentive to sign up,
Yet i was disconnected for not paying my bill 5 days latter.

So I get on the phone with the apparent 24/7 customer service centre which could not help because the business centre was closed. (so its a 24/7 customer service, but the business centre is only available between certain hours)
WHAT A JOKE.
A $640 bill from my previous Optus bill to close that contract

20777 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely!!! at 5 Feb 2012 10:02:47 AM
Experience data drops regularly.
Emailed support and exclaimed I keep getting data drops when surfing net.
Responses were please give me 3 examples of sms or call drops in 48 hours... plus a massive list of questions which could literally track down Osama Bin Laden on the moon, yet they claim technicians need more information still.

Although I mentioned web browsing data drops and banged on about this, I supplied 3 network drops anyway. 2 weeks later and 8 replies back and forth with arguing, me talking about internet drops and she constantly saying she wants phone call information, the service person finally exclaims "she cannot help me, as she does not work with resolved data problems"

WOW! - Why could she not read my initial email content and decide that? What a waste of my life and money. Absolutely useless. READ MY COMPLAINT BEFORE SPINNING OFF YOUR STANDARD COPY+PASTE RESPONSES VODAFAIL.

* just thought I would add...

I needed to provide details within 48 hours. So, I collected data drops, times, suburb and posted them to the service rep. Now get this...

Vodafail did not respond to me in 48 hours after that response.... - So 55 hours later I get a responding email... I had to provide another set of examples because "I" provided details which was "outside the 48 hour window". Not to mention this data is claimed to be only needed because it makes it "faster" for the technicians. So I'm working and collecting data during work days to provide and easy day for the technicians... How rough!

It would be interesting and a nice concept for a company being paid to,

a) investigate on behalf of the customer - not have the customer do all the work

b) Read customer emails and understand their problem before copy+pasting your standard customer service respones.

c) Accept responsibility for answering late rather than blaming the customer for providing details outside a time frame

d) Have a complaint loding service that allows the customer to have some sort of investigating into their service in less than 2 weeks.

I've had a win. Yep. A win. I have successfully cancelled my Vodafail Broadband Internet. The most unreliable and frustrating service I've ever had the misfortune to subscribe to. The gentleman at Vodafail put up a fight. Not a strong one. I get the feeling even they are giving up. Anyway, have now got 200Gb per month of ADSL2 and absolutely wrapped, and only $10 a month more then the 6Gb from VF. Only got one more Vodafail contract now and it expires in November and then, bye bye Vodafail...

20773 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extreme fail at 4 Feb 2012 09:39:47 AM
We live approximately 6 km from Brisbane CBD. We cannot accept or make telephone calls on our mobiles within our house or yard. We can sometimes take calls standing on the front first level porch but the calls always fail intermittently during the call. Our internet is the same, patchy and intermittent. Having a phone plan that does not allow you to use the phone in your own home is beyond frustrating.

Thanks for the site.

20772 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is incompetent and useless! at 3 Feb 2012 01:46:10 PM
ridiculous.
I have been waiting over 8 months for them to produce a valid proof of purchase for an iphone 4 I recieved. It was stolen, so I applied for the insurance.
Seemed easy.... I was wrong. The insurance asked for my IMEI number....
Vodaphone accidently never recorded my IMEI number when I upgraded my contract and phone. So when I produced the box with the IMEI number, they told me "oh that number cant be verified... you could have borrowed that box of your friend just to have an IMEI.
So basically, the insurance company through vodaphone wont help me, and vodaphone customer care has failed on numerous occasions to try and find my orginal proof of purchase.
Not only do I feel cheated, but Im reminded every bill when they still charge me for the phone that was stolen AND insurance... and it cant be replaced because of their crappy mistake.
4 Feb 2012 07:07:38 AM: You my friend, need to take this matter to the TIO, VF will come to the party once the TIO is involved.

Agree with you entirely, a ridiculous state of affairs to be in!

I was offered 50% off my cap amount for problems with a faulty sim card that was the responsibility of vodafone. I agreed to this as I was about to change providers, and vodafone offered the dicount so I would stay with them.

However when I recieved my bill and no discount had been applied, vodafone said I had not agreed to the 50% discount. WHY would I not agree and then stay with them?? I can not beleive the DISHONESTY of their staff in indicating I had not agreed to a discount in my favour. It was only when I threatened going to the ombudsman that they brgrudgingly accepted it would be illogical for a customer to not accept a dicount and finally credited a future bill.

20764 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is lower than a goanna's bum at 2 Feb 2012 01:03:00 PM
Here is something I noticed about reception yesterday, which someone might have some idea on?
Whilst having a cool ale to cool down, I had used the handsets ability to tell me what 'TOWER' or 'CELL AREA' I was in.

(For those who dont know, many handsets display what area you are in, by way of sreet, area, suburb,or some notable building in your town or city.)

Well, as I sat perfectly still in the same chair,in a matter of 5 minutes I sliced through a dozen different CELLS or TOWERS and I did'nt move an inch.
Is this a process when one tower gets overloaded, you get pushed to the next one, and the next one,or is it a clever manouvre to kid you into believing that the VODAFAILED Network is working OK by showing you 5 bars on you mobile device?

The furtherest CELL AREA I got got was 4km away and this is a big major city with many towers every half blocks of the city.

Anyone got any answers on that one?
4 Feb 2012 12:20:04 PM: AAHHH!!! I studied it a bit further.
The CELL AREA or TOWERS now stretch out to 10km away(2 BARS) then the TOWER I am under(5 bars) then 12 km away(1 bar) then 7 km away(3 bars)
This happens many times each minute!!!!
WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THE THE WHOLE NETWORK IS SO SCREWED UP YOU ARE GETTING DROP OUT CALLS VERY OFTEN.

I have studied this for a few days now and the proof is there.
VODAFONE IS STEALING FROM ITS CUSTOMERS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER

20763 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone need to be sanctioned ASAP at 2 Feb 2012 10:38:19 AM
I have had my phoned (well im up to my 5th one now) for 18 months. Every since the phone was connected it has been a nightmare. The phone continuously drops mobile and internet coverages, texts dont send, I dont get voicemail notifications.....Im paying for NOTHING!

I originally had an iPhone 4 and after having the phoned swapped 4 times and after two complaints to the Ombudsman as Vodafone insisted it was a handset issues I got a new Samsung galaxy S2. SAME ISSUES ARE STILL HAPPENING.

The network is clearly sub-standard and has issues. Vodafone should be sanctioned by government and SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIGN UP ANY NEW CONNECTIONS until an investigation is undertaken into the problems with their inferior network.

Lets be honest, they pour millions of dollars into racing car sponsorship, advertising and other useless crap. That money is much better used in correcting their network problems.

Bring on August when I can port out, yay!

According to their bill she used internet on her phone for a total of 56 hours in 2 days. Cut short, TIO got my bill reduced and all that extra amount invoiced waived. Score!!!

Phone stopped sending/receiving SMS. Call VodaFuckinFail and they troubleshoot and after a master reset failing to resolve issue, they tell me to replace my SIM (which is less than 1 yr old). I do so - problem not resolved. Walk into their shop and is told to repalce my phone as its faulty. Get brand new phone and within 1 week, problem is back!!!!
Call back VodaFuckinFail and they want to troubleshoot - i refuse and insist on getting my money back or unlocking phone at no charge. They decline saying I have to pay for unlocking phone and I refuse as they made me buy a new phone knowing very well there was nothing wrong with my old one.
VodaFuckinFail finally agree and let me unlock at their cost. Once my credit runs out and ditching these f*$%ers and heading somewhere more relaible.

Vodafone has a policy of only allowing numbers in their password formats generally advising at the store to use ones birthday(great advice), therefore a character set of 10 character with no case variable means you'd have to have 4 pages of numbers to get any security and hashcrackers like Medusa would smash them in two minutes anyway.

The next day i get a sms from vodafone asking about the service i received and they would like me to answer a few questions, I received the first question so i replied to it, guess what, it is still sitting in my outbox waiting to be sent, it will not send. maybe because i sent a low rating, it will not accept it.

Hi Guys,

My last bill for data alone was $556 +GST the other day when i checked it through 1512. It has never been that high & i haven't used it any differently to any other month.
I called to discuss it with someone & the couldn't explain it due to system upgrade.
Voodoo asked me to call back when i recieved my bill.

Has anyone else had this fraud?

let me know.

Thanks

1 Feb 2012 06:29:37 PM: The bill should be itemised to show the date of your data usage and how much data you used on those days. If you are certain you didn't use that much and Vodafone isn't responsive then you can file a complaint with the TIO (details on the 'how to complain' page). It's best to tell Vodafone you will file a complaint before you actually do in case they can help you sooner.

20744 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe this mob. at 31 Jan 2012 05:11:17 PM
I placed an order on the 5th Dec. 2011. Told 5 to 7 working days for delivery. Have waited and waited and tonight I called their customer care number that they gave me which is wrong, and asked where my phone was. After speeking to a person in India who kept putting me on hold, I was told that my phone was sent to my address and that noone was home to receive it and that it was given to the P.O. for collection. That might have been the case but why was there no notification of them telling me that the phone was at the P.O. for collection. I go the my P.O. on a regular basis to collect parcels (and know the staff well) and never have they told me that there was a phone/parcel waiting to be collected. And why was I never given a 2nd and final notice as is the norm at all P.O.'s before they send the parcels back?
Then they wanted to refund my money and I said no I want the phone because I stood to lose nearly $50 of Bonus bank dollars that I had accumulated. They placed the order again and this time I asked that it be sent to my work and that there will be someone there to sign for it. Again in 5 to 7 days. We shall see Vodafone. I'll bet if Adam Gilchrist could see the complaints on this website, he might have had second thoughts about promoting them.

20742 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is HTC Sensation XE no stock!? at 31 Jan 2012 02:58:24 PM
Hi

I changed my plan and ordered the HTC Sensation XE on the 21st of Jan, i have received a letter in the mail telling me about my new contract but i have not received any information about my handset. My plan was changed on the day i called but the consultant never gave me an order number or tracking number.

I rang the day after but the next consultant told me that the order was not in the system yet and the handset would be delivered in 8-10 days.

Can you please give me an order number and tracking number and advise when i will receive my new phone as my old one is broken.

Thanks.

Hi Adam

Thank you for your email.

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received the information you require. I can understand the frustration with this.

I have checked the order and it looks like the HTC Sensation XE is no longer available from our warehouse.

I apologise for the inconvenience, from time to time handset manufactures stop the supply of particular models of handsets and we only receive short notice.

I know this hasn't created the best experience for you and I definitely want to help.

We do have a small amount of stock of the HTC Trophy 7 in black in stock, which I'm happy to order for you.

It's also $0 on the $29 cap contract for 24 months.

I have included the following link from the HTC website with more details about the phone:

http://www.htc.com/au/smartphones/htc-7-trophy/

Or, you welcome to chose another phone we have available on the $29 cap 24 month contract.

I have included the following link for our online store. The online store is only designed for new connections so some of the offers we may not be able to provide for an upgrade.

Although it will give you an idea of what phones I can look at providing for you:

http://shop.vodafone.com.au/all-mobiles?action=no&_requestid=371083

If you'd like me to order any of the phones, I can organise it to be delivered

Once again, apologies for the inconvenience.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
(PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED)

No i want the Sensation XE, this is what somebody sold to me!

I have spent many hours researching the new phone i wanted. It is not my fault that Vodafone has sold people more phones than they accounted for, i don't want some shitty Windows HTC mobile like the trophy.

This has really pissed me off yet another Vodafail i have been with Vodafone and i used to stick up for you guys, your service of late has been nothing short of shit.

This is Terrible consumer service, I will be approaching the telecommunications ombudsman (TIO) if you cannot deliver what was promised. It is an illegal practice to trick consumers and lock them into a 24 month contract when Vodafone knows it can't deliver. How long would it have been until Vodafone notified me that the handset could not be delivered???!!! PROBABLY NEVER!

I am more than happy to wait for the phone that i purchased. If my demand cannot be met return me to my original $35 month to month cap and cancel my 24 month contract IMMEDIATELY.
2 Feb 2012 07:39:24 AM: Why don't you get the Galaxy S2 or the Sensation XL, both have now dropped to $5 on the $29, maybe speak to VF and see if they can arrange a $5 credit for a period of time for you for the hassles, they may put you through to Priority Care to organise this for you and threaten them with cancellation and they usually come to the party...
