Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have been with Vodafone for over 2 years and in that time every month there has been over charges on my account, they have charged my partner for excess data when his phone does not have the ability to use data, and they are completely impossible to deal with when you can actually get a hold of them. I have not been able to ring customer care off my mobile ever and get cut off nearly every time i get through on another phone!!!!! BIG FAIL

Both partner & I in Brisbane & on Vodafone. Coverage has been worse then normal during flood period & not at all over last few days at times, together with no power for a while. Service came back on only to allow Vodafone to send a text to both us on seperate no service periods & advised that our bills were ready then went back to no service again straight away.

I hardly make call on my mobile now. $700 call credit for $69, main reason I went to Vodafone will all be saved. Only two calls I've made today dropped. Still waiting my call back from Vodafone technical department for 5 days now. Living in Sydenham area and was using Virginmobile for two years with no problem. I'm with Vodafone only for 12 days now. I want out of this damn contract.

12506 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is reception at 13 Jan 2011 04:00:14 PM

I live in melb, my dad lives just out of echuca, my friends live in Tongala.

The one reason I have a mobile phone is for use if a break down occurs in out of the way places.

Be warned once leaving Melb heading north you will be lucky to have coverage unless going through a township (if you are Lucky)

As a family we have travelled 3400km through deniliquin, Gunnedah to near
coffs harbour, long arduous trip, it did not help that my sister and father were with Telsra and had coverage most of the way,I got sick of NO SERVICE sign on my phone

a big no thanks to vodaphone

I want out of my contract now!!!!

I have a phone, but it is just a nice paper weight. No reception 90% of the time, and when it does have reception it is shoddy and almost impossible to make calls with.

I called tech support, was told they were working on it. I have since called back and am now waiting, again, to get someone to talk to me about it.
$79 for a phone that doesnt work. what a joke!

Phone has no reception when required. I am concerned both from my own business point of view as well as the fact that I'm pregnant and worried that should I need to use my phone in case of an emergency, there will be no reception available to make calls. Additionally, when on a call, the call would just be dropped and I am unable to call as there is no reception available. This should not happen as frequently as it has been happening!

In Thursday 13 january edition of Sydney Telegraph, Vodafone has taken out a full page colour ad to promote the Iphone4 on Vodafone Infinity plans.
In the tiniest print at the bottom it says, amongst other things "Service subject to device capabilities, network limitations and customer location."
I am gobsmacked that they can sell a phone product knowing full well it will be useless in many instances. Fail,Vodafone, fail fail, epic fail, I hope the wind is taken out of your sails soon.

12487 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Shocking, Complete FAIL at 13 Jan 2011 02:33:01 PM
14 Jan 2011 07:35:43 AM: I believe you. Whether these anomalies are due to a hacker or Vodafone's incompetence, the responsibility ultimately lies with Vodafone.

On querying my latest account with a Vodafone store person, who did try to help and rang accounts several times as he was cutoff also. In the end they said they would investigate. I got a paper copy of the account as they view it from him.

It clearly shows a large chunk ~$460 [he scratched out the line]being taken out of my usage amount 23 November 2010. So if I managed to check my usage on that day I would have thought I had 2G left. THEN THEY ADDED IT BACK! and I ended up with a charge of excess usage.

When they switched from the paper accounts which clearly showed their stupid accounting system to ebilling, payments I had made for excess usage etc, were not transferred over. Hence they still reckon I owe this. Only the regular monthly payments were credited.

However, they are not alone. When I bought a new phone, and transferred credit to it, Virgin tried to charge me for money owed, when they were PREPAID ACCOUNTS!

FOR GOD'S SAKE I WISH THESE SO CALLED 'ISPS' WOULD HIRE AN ACCOUNTANT TO DESIGN THEIR BILLING SYSTEMS AND USE DOUBLE ENTRY ACCOUNTING!!!

21 Jan 2011 01:43:33 PM: many times I had issues with my 3G internet bill - overcharges. I could not solve this issue with Vodafone customer care - they always told me that is my responsibility to watch my consumption, even when I explained them that their data meter is wrong - 2 up to 5 days behind. So, always call TIO, even before Vodafone - and you will get the money back and settle the conflict fast. Don't waste your time calling Vodafone without having a TIO claim number.

12483 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 13 Jan 2011 02:07:55 PM
My issues are

1) Poor reception in the 4000, 4078, 4069 and 4121 postcode which is where my brokers do 90% of their business
2) Customers tell us they cannot reach our numbers which always goes to messagebank
3) we get an average of 13 call fails each day when trying to call out
4) The Vodaphone Blackberry regularly turns itself off when in the adjoining suburb of Richlands and then re-initialises - sometimes 2 or 3 times in succession
5) No 3g coverage at most times. City - hopeless, Kenmore - very little 3g and tarragindi at my home absolutely hopeless. Even have no 3g in the cbd and fortitude valley most of the time.
6) Had clients tell us that they've been trying to call on numerous occasions. Phone can be sitting on our desk, or in our pocket and it does not ring
7) our loan updates are received via SMS and these have been received 1 day later which is unacceptable in our business when the settlement of a house is involved
8) Data speeds have been terrible and as we are cionstantly on lender sites for loan uopdates this is unacceptable

Given my brokers are self employed and rely heavily on their mobiles this is now seriously affecting my business.

12480 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Absolute FUBAR! at 13 Jan 2011 02:05:27 PM
I went to get a mobile broadband plan with Vodafone in November last year. Service was alright until I had 1 bar 3G signal, incredibly crap speeds, & it has stayed that way since beginning of January 2011. So much for a network maintenance, which some foreign customer service guy claimed would not take longer than a week. Must be some lying generic response, just an Indian version of Lara. The towers seem to be unable to handle the amount of users they are constantly attracting and taking in using their misleading marketing. Vodafone emphasizes their 'good' coverage and 'speed', which is so abysmal that even a snail can travel faster than the data that reaches my usb modem. Im living in a suburb with 3G coverage, but the connection dropouts are just appalling. It happens every few minutes. There is no point in using GPRS mode, since it's even slower than the oldest person alive. These days I seem to be paying monthly fees for nothing. You get several GB of usage and you can't even use it. This is seriously epic fail. It all started with me reading Vodafone's ad clustered site for technical information regarding coverage, speed, & service. They claimed to cover metropolitan areas, which included the suburb I live in. They claimed a reasonable speed range that most other telcos quote and boasted about their service. Then I waited an hour at the store to be served, the dealers seem to rather enjoy chatting with one customer at a time very slowly until their shift is over. To me, it felt like days. Finally I got my plan set up. After sorting out the VMC software problems, the product worked (yes I know strange as it may seem, it actually worked for a few glorious weeks) until it struggled again. Here I am, poor signal for weeks, 0-20Kbps 3G, & almost non-existent service. Even if the network tower is not far away & there is nothing major blocking the signal. Heres where the pain begins that customers have endured. I called Vodafone technical support 35 times, 30 of them were Lara transfer problems leading to call cut offs. WTF is the point of Lara's telemaze if it leads to cut offs. It's like having to solve a f*d up maze only to reach a dead end. The other 5 times led to horrid patchy musical hold up times equivalent to a theatrical length film. Finally I got to a foreign guy who told me these lame responses, which I, a pc expert, would have already tried. He still insisted me to try his troubleshooting even though I told him 10 times I've already done it. Ranging from reinstalling the device & software to deleting browsing history. Lame. Still got crap speed & signal. I really need to 'troubleshoot' someone in the head. Then he rambles on about a network upgrade in my area. Another generic response in their agenda. AND they always say there is no deadline for these upgrades. I hope people don't have to wait a lifetime's journey to get full signal again. Knowing their call centres are foreign these days, I gave up because even maintaining a call with them (that is prone to dropouts) will take blood, sweat, & tears. Now we have 12000+ Australians lobbying for a lawsuit against Vodafone, for reasons similar to my woes. I wouldn't be very surprised. We also have a recent issue involving customer data security breaches over the web. All Vodafone does is tell us that everything is fine. IT IS NOT. Whirlpool forums is packed daily with unheard complaints of Vodafone's services. In fact the threads are so vast it could form a large encyclopedia or a Lord of The Rings novel. As for the Vodafone staff seeking sympathy, think again. You are the cratered face of the company, so you must deal with the aggressive amount of recent customer woes. It is us customers that have all the power in the end. We can choose, in the extreme case, to do a mass exodus rather than put up with Vodafone's recent incompetences. We suffering customers (which seems to be a majority of Vodafone's customers in Australia, looking at how many complaints have plagued across the net) could all leave Vodafone & go to Telstra, Optus, etc. That will leave Vodafone Australia dying out of business, which will mean the Vodafone staff will lose their jobs. But then heres another issue. When customers attempt to cancel their plan & account, the customer service person attempts to hold on to the already dissatified customer for dear life like a leech, offering lame discounts & bartering. We shouldn't have to pay the remaining cost of the plan if we get slow unusable 3G net for weeks on end. We shouldn't have to rely on TIO and other full blown agencies to get our word across. This Vodafail site clearly indicates the last straw for the telco. It's just ridiculous, seeing that 'Vodafone' is an international business. If Vodafone doesn't fix these customer & network services, then too bad for the future. There won't be much for the telco to fix once its over. Not to mention the irony of 'gain sharing', I can barely post this using my Vodafone mobile broadband.
15 Jan 2011 05:13:12 AM: Well you did a pretty good job posting this, if your broadband is slow as you say. Maybe vodafone is better off without you and don't forget Optus had the slowest 3g speeds in australia for quite some time, but no one complained then and there was no website like this, if there was I'm sure there wold've been a few complaints
15 Jan 2011 06:13:08 PM: Voodoofone! what a grasp you have on how much data this website uses- buggerall-and uploading a simple text document-again-buggerall. Could explain a lot of things.
15 Jan 2011 06:20:08 PM: That last one of mine-about 20Kb, so,the original post, being very generous with the figures,:) 20 x 20 =400 Kb.

Can't make calls at the moment. Connection failure ... although 3G is showing full reception. Can't connect to the Internet either although my phone can find the 'Vodafone AU' access point. Can't even connect to 1555 to complain!
13 Jan 2011 02:01:39 PM: I am also in Canberra this week and share exactly the same problems. I finally gave up calling 1555 after 4 x 30 minutes on hold. Vodaphone did actually respond to my email complaint, but in a fdismissive reply saying that their engineers are aware of network problems and Vodaphone is under no obligation to compensate customers for the lack of service.
13 Jan 2011 03:15:21 PM: I told them if I cant get service I am not paying my bill as they are contracted to supply a service
15 Jan 2011 04:09:26 PM: there actually are other phones in existence besides mobiles......you could call them from the home phone, and why wouln't you if your voda service is screwed
18 Jan 2011 08:37:38 PM: Some people don't have phones and must rely on their mobile phones at all times. I think it's just so bad that each of us are getting charged so much each month when we're not able to actually use it! And I can't believe that Vodafone is not prepared to compensate us (their customers) for all of these network problems!!!! Once my contract is finished (in 22 months because I only just entered into a new contract before I started having problems) I am 'SO' going with another company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12478 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Call drop outs and txt/pxt messages never arrive at 13 Jan 2011 01:46:25 PM
I've only recently signed up with Vodafone (Nov 2010) after being with 3 for 2 yrs without a hassle. When my 3 contract was up i was basically told at the 3 store that Vodafone have taken over and to re sign up it would be under vodafone!! Now i use my phone to contact my young chidren which is the only contact i may have for up to 2 weeks at a time so to me it is extrememly important. But since moving to vodafone almost every single call drops out or loses signal imagine my frustration and my kids feelings when they think they're dad just hangs up on them :( . Also i've experienced txt and pxt messages that just never arrive!!! I could be standing next to someone and watch them hit send successfully from thier phone (did this to test)and it never comes through. I wont even start on the internet connection issues!!! i wish id never signed to vodafone.
18 Jan 2011 08:40:26 PM: I used to be with 3 mobile and then I swapped over to Vodafone because I was having network issues with 3 - in particular 'roaming' at all times & not being able to make calls. I am so disappointed with Vodafone - I've been with them just over 2 years and have renewed my contract around the same time as you. I think even though they're more expensive, I might just have to go with Telstra next time. I haven't heard any complaints about their network as yet.

12468 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ridiculous at 13 Jan 2011 01:03:13 PM
I live in North Qld and have been Vodafone for the last two years. For the first year I was a prepaid customer and did not mind when I lost service here or there. Since I have been on contract and more recently a new contract with an Iphone to enable me to keep in contact with everyone easily and mostly live off my mobile I have had nothing but dramas, constant loss of service, terrible internet service. Yesterday afternoon I believe everyone in Qld lost service for the whole afternoon. Yet I am still required to pay my monthly contract fee for services I am not fully provided with each month. On top of that I ordered an Iphone late last year which after chasing Vodafone up about its whereabouts was told my order wasnt processed and I would have to wait a further 12 weeks on top of the original 4 weeks wait due to someone simply not doing their job. Even worse when trying to sort out this mess as I had a new contract rolled over but no Iphone when i phoned for assistance not only had I been cut off twice I was then put through to a call centre somewhere outside Australia. I could not understand the customer service representative and he was not fully understand what the issue was. I requested NUMEROUS times during our conversation to be transferred to a centre in Australia where someone could help me. He refused and after arguing with me I decided to hang up. This meant I spent more time and i mean hours telephoning Vodafone going through the initial steps when you first call each time waiting and hoping until I could finally get through to someone who could understand what the issue was and I could also understand clearly. Although this matter was resolved I am no longer a happy customer of Vodafone and the constant service drop outs are simply ridiculous and we as customers are not getting the so called service we pay for. The only issue now is if I decide to switch telephone companies I would be up for huge cancellation fees which Im sure most of us cannot afford and I know I cant. It is very disappointing as when I lived in Europe Vodafone were great. It simply seems that Vodafone Australia just cant get it right.

It is an absolute joke and I am constantly receiving complaints from travelling salemen and technicans about there phone and wireless internet. Well I have had enough, we will be switching to another carrier, even if it does me more cost, at least it will be reliable.

12462 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ridiculous at 13 Jan 2011 12:51:12 PM

Does anyone know how you go about getting vodafone to delete my personal information?
As I am no longer with vodafone I don't trust them to keep my info on their records. How can I go about getting them to delete it from their records, then checking to make sure they have done it. I have considered calling and asking but I'm sure it couldn't be that easy, could it
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated
20 Jan 2011 12:34:38 AM: From what I read on a law site, they are obligated to keep those records for quite some time after you cease to use them as a carrier.
"I have considered calling and asking " You don't have to read many posts on this website to get the idea that that would be a big exercise in futility and frustration. I think, somewhere on the facebook page, or in www.whirlpool.net.au,people have posted the CEO's email address, and claimed they have had some success.

I have been a Vodafone customer for over 10 years now and have a complaint about their customer service. I now no longer call them for reasons that I am sure you are all aware of.

The reason I have posted here however is to advise that they went through a period of calling me to 'see how things are going'....So I took these opportunities (about 2 over 2 years) to actually tell them. After I told them of my experiences it would be taken as a personal attack and I would then have to explain that this is not personal but I am simply responding to her request for feedback. To me, it seemed that Vodafone were not training their employees to deal with such complaints. I don't blame the call centre staff as I think that is a had job....but it's a job nonetheless and should be undertaken in a professional manner.

They took my insurance off whilst using a replacement phone telling me that they would put it back on automatically when i received my updated phone.. Apprently this is not allowed and i was fed the wrong information. Cheers vodafone...
16 Jan 2011 05:22:07 AM: Why do people get angry and demand things from Vodafone based from a service warranty that Vodafone or any other phone company has any control over!

Phone companies don't purchase units of handsets and then decide what the warranty and repair conditions are, the manufacturer decides what happens with repair, replacement or refund, this stands for all sorts of electrical appliances and tools, it is the norm. If Vodafone are taking responsibility for it, that really means they are going above and beyond anything they would ever be required to do.

Also why have you taken up an insurance policy without reading or checking against a PDS? if you don't fully read terms and conditions for things and then sign up for it, why would you suddenly just hold someone else responsible.

I work in a Yes shop and I am absolutely sick to death of people getting angry or making demands on repairs without paying attention, people will sign a repair order which specifically states the turn around time, you ask them to read and sign, then they say "how long does it take?"

READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN!

12439 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very fail at 13 Jan 2011 11:40:00 AM
The other day I called Customer Care to speak to them about my handset issues (after they'd given me a broken phone via insurance).
The Indian woman on the other end of the line didn't understand me, so I asked to speak to her supervisor, to which she replied 'There are no Australians working here.' When I repeated my request, she put me on hold for ten minutes and then came back on the line, no mention of the supervisor. She was probably taking another call.

While I was expressing my frustrations with Vodafone's bad service and explaining that this was just another thing that was going to make me leave if it wasn't resolved, she became personally insulted (because she didn't speak English, so took offence at what I was saying) and threatened to hang up on me if I continued to 'use profanities'.

I had to explain to her that 'It's not about you, I don't know you, you just work for a multinational corporation. I have a problem with that corporation, like millions of other Australians do right now.'

She kept putting me on hold over and over again and threatening to cut me off if I was rude to her (wtf!!!!!!!!) and then put me on hold to some other department where 'Lara' said the wait time would be 40 minutes. After my incredibly frustrating experience, I just hung up. I submitted my request to be released from my contract to the TIO immediately.
14 Jan 2011 04:49:59 PM: Millions? Slight exaggeration mate.
17 Jan 2011 07:42:45 PM: They're doing a job too you know, maybe if you're not rude and ignorant and speak profanities people may be willing to help, heck if you showed up at my work and treated me like dirt, I would give you the minimum level of service my job description entailed, grow up and maybe someone will give a shit, how can you expect someone to help you if you can't even curb your language... 12437 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Not remotely at 13 Jan 2011 11:32:30 AM
I recently migrated from 3 after several years of flawless service to Vodafone in order to get on the infinite cap. Initially, I had next to no reception, call drop-outs and was not contactable.

However, as proposed by Vodafone, coverage in my area has improved drastically over the past 2 weeks. If this is the kind of response time Vodafone are capable of, then I can't see why more people can't just relax and let them fix the problem rather than distract the company with a storm of loaded issues and floggings.

It's not productive and it won't make your reception any better. I'd hate to be a Vodafone store employee right now. I know several and I know the authority they hold, which is next to none, and I can only imagine the hordes of emotional customers giving them grief which they've no power to fix.

I think this site encourages brutal group mentality and pack confidence that serves no purpouse but to further derail the issue and let people blow off steam.
13 Jan 2011 12:08:18 PM: Perhaps because people have been putting in these complaints for months and been getting the run around and no response. I'm glad you got your issues resolved, alot of other people hadn't and still haven't because Vodafone are giving the run around or you don't even get the chance to speak to someone before your phone drops out or you clog your land line up for hours every evening waiting for someone to take your call.
13 Jan 2011 12:17:19 PM: good for you but i havnt had coverage for nearly 6 months and have a laundry list of other problems.

I have problems with the staff as they are clearly VERY untrained. i have been given wrong information a couple of times now and one of those cost me $250. then they act like they cant do anything when u tell them ur problems. they seem to know ALOT when u are signing a new contract but once uve dotted the ink at the end they turn into bumbling idiot who have no clue and no authority and no information. too bad they dont tell u this BEFORE u sign
13 Jan 2011 12:31:17 PM: It's thanks to sites such as Vodafail.com that Organisations have some degree of accountability and also acts as an avenue for users to know they are not alone.

I note you have not given a length of time that the reception was poor in your area however you have indicated an improvement over the last 2 weeks, it could be thanks to Vodafail!!!

I also somewhat resent your assertions of a storm of loaded issues and floggings, the posts are from people who are genuinely fed up with the constant untruths, lack of customer service and an extremely poor overall mobile/internet experience.

Given that 1555 is next to useless, facebook is more concerned with games and competitions, e mail is sometimes up most of the time down and all of the time never responded to, what else are emotional customers supposed to do???

The shop staff are the shop window of the company and the most accessible!!!

Finally just how does this site encourage brutal group mentality and pack confidence????

I would really like to know how you came to that conclusion!
13 Jan 2011 08:17:25 PM: I can't tell you how much I appreciate the original post written here. I come on this site to understand why I get abused all day and how I can best help and empathise with the customers that come into our Vodafone store at their wit's end, absolutely frustrated and exasperated. There's not a lot I can do except direct my customers to the correct avenues to solve their problems, which is, unfortunately, Customer Care, because we literally do not have access in our systems to cancel or credit an account in store. In store, we have limited power and control over the issues presented to us. We can attempt to call Customer Care on our customer's behalf, but because they are our colleagues and all our calls are flagged via our dealer codes etc, we are unable to push them as much as our customers can, to get the desired outcome. I became an employee before the network problems started, it's not my fault, nor the fault of my coworkers, that there is an issue with a customer's handset or connection etc, we do our best to rectify the problem in a timely matter but it is exceptionally difficult to sympathise with someone who belittles us or abuses us. We all (as employees) understand your frustration, because the majority of us are customers as well and when customers come into the store and raise their voice or threaten us or say degrading or abusive things towards us it makes me wonder, no matter how frustrated a person is, how they can forget that we are humans too.
14 Jan 2011 06:18:15 AM: @ 13 Jan 2011 10:17:25 PM What a nice and sensible post you have made.

It appears to me that you are a caring person committed to Customer Care and also to the well being of your fellow workers trying to help customers under difficult circumstances.

You should go far in the Corporate World, my friend, just try not to do it with the Vodafone shower!!!!

Vodafone gave me an old clunky shitty handset on insurance which was broken (permanently on headphone mode, which means I can't make or receive any calls other than on speakerphone! Brilliant!)
Then when I take it back twelve days later (after going away and working) Vodafail CoverMe insurance calls me up and says, 'No no, you didn't bring it back within fourteen days, you have to get the store to send it off under warranty repairs, we won't give you a phone that works'
Genius. Well I've already complained to the TIO and Vodafail has ten days to respond or something. I won't be paying the excess on this piece of junk phone and I won't be paying my bill. Screw you, Vodafail. I'm going to Telstra.

I've been with Vodafone for over 10 years. Locked into a contract that we can't get out of - I cannot receive calls when in the Melbourne CBD (Belgrave region) and whilst in the office in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs the phone will drop out at least once every phone call. I also cannot access internet from the office most days. We recently travelled to Japan, before I left I organized a capped plan only to be sent a bill for $789 that I disputed and yet it still wasn't agreed upon that I pay the original "quote" of $139. I've been a vodafone custormer for over 10 years now and I have found there service slipping everyday. If you call up you are put onto Lara who doesn't understand what you need and then you are put onto a Indian working in a call centre who isn't much more help. If you go into the branch they say the same thing. All they can do is call India and have the same discussion with them you would have at home. I'm on a $79 plan and for some reason keep on getting $110 bills. Everytime I call them they try and tell me I have gone over my cap which is near impossible. I have currently just signed a new contract with them and have absolutaly no help from them. My Nokia N8 started playing up so I took it to Vodafone and they told me to contact Nokia as it wasn't there problem even though I am paying them insurance on the phone. I would have left Vodafone is someone could point me in the dirrection of a better provider but that doesn't seem possible as Optus is just as bad. telstra rip you off and lets not even say anything about Virgin.

I have been a Vodafone customer for 13 years and I used to be happy with the service I received. Completely different story now. I am gobsmacked at how this once great network has let itself become a steaming heap of moist cat's droppings.

You can not run a business with Vodafone as it is just embarrassing having to ring a client back 4 or 5 times in succession due to call drop outs - up to 8 or 9 a day - even when you are standing in the same spot and not even moving the handset. a whole lot more if I'm driving. Then there's the voicemails delivered up to 3 days later with absolutely no record of the call to my handset. Then the signal just 'disappears' - for 10 minutes sometimes - even though I'm in the middle of Sydney.

And I won't even bother whingeing about the 'mobile internet', that's just a farce. I can't even get a signal in Darling Harbour, Sydney for a phone call let alone updating my FaceBook status.

I have tried to keep the faith Vodafone, really I have, but you are not who you once were and I just don't care anymore. It's not just me, a lot of people are saying the same thing about you.

Anyway, I've been talking to someone else and I think there's a mutual interest there so I'd like to see where that goes. Yes I'll probably get raped in price and plan options, but at least I can call someone and talk about if I need to.

It's over Vodafone, I'm just going to take my things and go.

Tried ringing them on numerous occasions to try and retrieve the credit that was sitting in my account. finally get through and 2.5hrs on hold and the bloke tries to convince me to leave it in my account so I won't have to worry about paying future bills. After it was clear that I wanted my money back I was told that I would receive a check within 10 working days. Waited just over 4 weeks before I reachieved it in the mail + another couple of days for the check to clear. All this and not to mention the crap service and constant lose of reception.

I seem to not have reception anywhere I go; even in the heart of SYDNEY CBD which one thing I can not understand.

Vodafone get your act together or get out of this market; we are in 2011 and we depend on our mobile devices heavily for work and being connected with the rest of the world.

12415 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Criminal at 13 Jan 2011 08:55:35 AM
I accidently made 3 payments via online banking to an old, closed account BPAY Customer ID.
After months of making seemingly double payments, I finally worked out where the extra $160 had gone.
When I explained this to Vodafone after hours and hours of phone calls and sitting on hold, they could not locat the money and would not credit my current account.
They basically stole that money and made it so difficult for me to get a refund that I gave up and paid out my plan.
Stupidly I went to Crazy Johns and when I recently updated my phone to iPhone I was moved back to the vodafone.
I havent had problems with calls but web browsing and email barely works.
I'm in Sydneys North.

Can someone tell me if this also affects the Three network. I have been with them for years due to the cheap plans. I now live in the Sydney CBD and have absolutely crap coverage, the same for my Three Wireless. Can Three customers also get out of the contracts, I am dying to go to Telstra. I can't stand this coverage anymore.

12412 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very Bad billing at 13 Jan 2011 08:21:21 AM
Without any prior notice I received a final demand from a Debt collection agency. After one hour in store I found out a Vodafone employee in India had incorrectly renewed my contract. Very annoyed they hadn't sent an account to me before sending account to debt collector. Vodafone cannot explain why the action was taken.
14 Jan 2011 03:49:07 PM: God knows where they source their Indian staff. Bet their are not any accountants, bookkeepers, or technically qualified among them.
14 Jan 2011 03:51:11 PM: I suspect the merger with '3' has something to do with this also. I was so disgusted with '3's accounting practices I switched to Vodafone, but now '3' and Vodafone are one and appear to be implementing all the worst aspects of the way '3' did business.

My daughter rang my husbands mobile(he is with telstra) to say she was trapped between rising waters , my husband raced off to see what he could do, our home phone wasnt working due to water damage, and so i tried to use my mobile (i am with vodaphone) it was saying for emergency calls only- so for 2 hours i sat at home not knowing what was going on.Thankfully my daughter is safe. TWO days later and i still cant use my MOBILE. The flooding may have been an act of god but for two hours i thought i had lost my husband and daughter, and my husband never lost connection through telstra.

12405 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Nearly cost me my job at 13 Jan 2011 07:15:11 AM
I have just been through hell in my job over the past few days when I had looked to postpone a client meeting 3 hours before it was due to occur. I left a voicemail and then followed it up with a text message and then another voicemail. I received a voicemail back after my first voicemail that indicated that they had recived my message but in fact were confirming another communication via email from earlier in the day. The voicemails and txt message were not received until an hour after the meeting was due to occur and all hell broke loose when I wasn't there. Moral of the story, make sure you actually speak to people in business when you need to make changes. Mind you that day I had had over ten calls drop out whilst I stood still. This company is a joke and needs to have its license revoked.

I constantly lose reception, messages are always delayed, or do not send/receive at all. I have been incorrectly billed for at least the past 6 months. It is too hard to try and correct any problems as it takes up to and exceeding an hour to get thru to call centre staff. It is simply not good enough and I want out of my contract. I have been a customer since 2001.

Receiving text messages days later, no service, phone dropping out. I have rung customer service three times trying to get my contract cancelled. Each time I have been on the phone for over 1 1/2 hours and most of the time on hold. The customer service people are rude and don't listen. They are saying its my handset and has nothing to do with the coverage. They never return calls when they say they will. This has happened on two occasions.

12401 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Cannpt desccribe at 13 Jan 2011 05:11:57 AM
Hi all,

I managed after around 3 months to upgrade to an iphone 4. I received it yesterday with the new U-SIM to be used in these new device.

At 18h45, I started the phone number transfer. As per the instructions provided by Vodafone with the phone I activated the new Sim card, at least I thought I had. I followed the instructions that were prompted to me over the phone (1555). Everything went well, after 5 minutes I was told that it would take around one hour to get the new phone in operation with my current number.

Around 21h00 yestrday, my 'old phone' was still receiving a vodafone signal while the new was still displaying 'No Service'.

This morning, I check again, I have no coverage on both phones. I don't even know how to contact them without any operational phone!

Today, I have to drive 4 hours return to country victoria for work from melbourne and I will not have any phones. Well, thinking about it, I guess even with a signal in Melbourne CBD, I may quite rapidly loose it... Thanks Vodafail!

12400 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is :/ at 13 Jan 2011 04:57:14 AM
I signed up with vodafone over 2 years ago. I was told my contract included $1000 worth of calls a month only to be hit by bills of 200+ saying that I exceeded the $900 included in my plan. I was never told about the tax I would have to pay on every bill. When I called up about my issue I was told that it was my fault for not double checking before i signed up and staff would never say $1000 worth of included calls even though that's what I was told. After many calls, call centers hanging up I thought what's the point. Then vodafone released the "check your remaining balance by text" this originally never mentioned tax again so I thought I could use the remaining value without exceeding my cap. I was mislead again. Again calling to complain lead to long holds that were over 2 hours in some cases, being transferred and hung up on. When I heard of a new $100 unlimited plan I thought they would let me swap over due to how I was mislead.. Only to be told I would have to pay over $1600 outright for breaking contract. Funny how they can lie but I'm stuck with them for two years. So I put up with the lack of customer service and faulty phone I had to replace myself (I could only afford a $27 phone from kmart) only to find that I had over a year until my contract expired.... Around Two months before my contract expired I was told by the people in my closest vodafone store I could upgrade. Not having what I thought was a reliable phone I had no other choice but to try and upgrade. I was told I had to call up to upgrade, so I did being placed on hold only to be promised contracts that either didn't exist or being hung up on and nobody could honor the promises made. I was on hold one of the weeks for easily over 5 hours. I gave up thinking that what's the point of upgrading if they treat me like shit. Again I had no other option as I thought my phone was the issue to my reception problems. I was told by another phone brand to call the ombudsmen about what was going on and I would find a result quickly. Funnily enough vodafone assigned a person to my case and they contacted me. The promises made to me about my new contract were kept and i verbally argreed to what I was told, however I asked for a fine print of my contract, and my insurance which still hasn't come. On top of that about a week after getting my new phone I had poor and no reception for 3 days making getting home a struggle as I couldn't transfer money on my phone. When I told my "specially appointed vodafone service operator" I was never given any reason for the reception issues and still today I struggle with many areas near my house and work with reception. Signing up again in the hopes of getting a good phone so I could have better reception was a waste, i had a $27 phone and now an iPhone and the reception issues are still the same.

12398 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Shit kickers at 12 Jan 2011 11:53:57 PM
stupid Indians from the shit Vodafone call centers are now getting paid to sit on vodafail reading comments and commenting and defending this shit company. I think this has become more of a priority for them instead of answering customers with service difficulties that have been on hold for more then 2 hours during a time of emergency and hardship. Showing no compassion at all for the victims of this disaster. YOUR JUST STUPID IDIOTS THAT READ OFF SCRIPTS & THINK YOU CAN SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!!
12 Jan 2011 11:59:36 PM: I can't believe a company like this can still be running in a country like Australia
13 Jan 2011 08:33:59 AM: They wont be much longer
21 Jan 2011 06:13:25 AM: I can't wait to get a copy of my contract and insurance just to see if what they promised is actually written somewhere clearly. My bills have been a nightmare to follow there are so many $ deductions and some gst % add ons I have no idea about..

12397 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is OK at 12 Jan 2011 11:19:55 PM
I love how everyone flips out and goes mental about the flood crisis affecting the Vodafone network. Energex switched off power to nearly 20,000 homes because of the floods. Retail stores shut down because of the floods. Vodafone networks were affected because of the floods. It's amazing you still point your finger at Vodafone when the situation was an act of God.
13 Jan 2011 06:32:45 AM: Act of God maybe, but the network is a critical service. Therefore all those battery backups and generators at each site should have kicked in. Obviously didn't, and has highlighted another flaw in the network.
13 Jan 2011 06:43:12 AM: Im surprised that vodafone doesnt blame the sun, moon and sea on the reception issues. With all due respect to the people affected by the floods... vodafone has earned a reputation of lying so its MORE than expected for them to use this disaster as an excuse. Its cowardly and expected from their theiving kind. No floods in sydney and their network a complete joke... funny that! Voted worst compant in UK for 2010 says it all... congrats vodaMOAN you earned it.

Keep away from contracts and keep the carriers honest.
13 Jan 2011 07:20:21 AM: Vodafone is blaming their reception problems on the same NON-EXISTENT thing being blamed for the floods - some wanker named GOD. Maybe if Vodashit did blame God, we were all finally know they have admitted to lying as the two are just as pathetic as each other.
13 Jan 2011 07:20:32 AM: Errr Vodafail is one of only 3 networks in this 3rd world technology country and in delivering a 'service' which they get paid for regardless of quality, back up and redundancy of service ESPECIALLY in times of distaster are core to market responsibility. Time for Vodafail to have their licence withdrawn...
13 Jan 2011 10:20:28 AM: I work in the mobile network industry and Optus and Telstra moved heaven and earth to ensure continuation of service in flood effected areas including rapid deployment of temporary cells of wheels sites, generators in advance to keep key base stations operational and choppering technicians to fix individual cell sites.. All base stations are designed to have 4-6 hours backup power but such systems are subject to failure if not regularly serviced. The whole Voda Qld network went down for lengthy period yesterday for their excahnge was flooded in Brisbane but to have this happen with no contingecy or built in redundancy is an absolute disgrace. Telstra and Optus' network had no such issues. Vodafone have been struggling for years to compete with the other carriers and have poored all their money into marketing and product development and have totally neglected their network and onging operations. They are waking up to this fact now but there is no quick fix solutions unfortunately.
