26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Thank goodness that my mobile plan has ended and am just waiting for my broadband account to end. I changed to Amaysim and haven't had an issue at all. I suggest that people try out the new Amaysim, I'm very happy with it and it's much cheaper than any of the current suppliers.

Lara drives me nuts. Funny how the voice activation doesn't understand the word "suspend". You've lost me Vodafone.
16 Jan 2011 06:25:44 AM: arrr why don't you use the push button option, maybe thats where your problems are coming from, either your just not listening, or you just wanna play the victim!
16 Jan 2011 06:30:30 AM: looked a Amaysim, after super shitty with voda, it's not that great, if you have a smartphone and want to use considerable data it's actually a total rip off! the Optus $59 cap is defiantly the best at the Mo!

Amaysim would end up costing me around $140-$150 a month for the usage i come in well under on their $59 cap.

Amaysim Suck Eggs!

12727 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Broadband Account Suspension at 16 Jan 2011 05:58:09 AM
I'm going overseas for 6 months and called Vodafone to suspend my broadband account. I was told in the Vodafone store that the account can be suspended like the mobile. When I called Vodafone I was told that my broadband can't be suspended. Another money grabbing scheme. My plan expires in July and I will definitely not be renewing it. Also, I wish I could understand the guy in the Mumbai call centre as well. Goodbye Vodafone.
16 Jan 2011 06:05:28 AM: if you cant understand Mumbai call center workers your going to have stop using a mobile, all the companies use Mumbai!

Cant believe how stupid some people are here?
16 Jan 2011 06:07:00 AM: Considering that fact such a complaint could only make sense as racism!
16 Jan 2011 06:11:55 AM: I agree, companies should use English speakers for English speaking countries. It's not racism, it's about efficiency and customer service.
16 Jan 2011 06:22:34 AM: given all the examples of the sort of complaints here I would never want to work there and i don't think many would. who would wanna hear this crap, no wonder they hang up on you losers!

Suck It!
16 Jan 2011 06:23:43 AM: there is defiantly a lot of very selfish statements here
16 Jan 2011 06:50:53 AM: Good morning folks, can everyone just take a deep breath in...............hold it................breathe away.........ahhhhhhhhhhhh............that is so much better!!

Be nice to each other please...........vodafail.com.mod
16 Jan 2011 12:41:31 PM: @ 8:22:34 am - Employees of the Vodafone call centre are hired for a reason. If Vodafone lies about their excelling customer service across the media, then they have proven contrarily otherwise. Thus, we realise they cannot resolve issues with prompt and efficiency.
16 Jan 2011 12:45:12 PM: To add to above, @ 8:22:34am, perhaps before you post your ignorant and abhorrent reply, you should join Vodafone yourself and call their call centre. You'll see how ignorant Vodafone is and you'll be the one complaining here about being rejected by Lara, dropping calls, ane the thick, often hard to understand accents of some India employees.
16 Jan 2011 10:47:13 PM:
Again I say can everyone just take a deep breath in...............hold it................breathe away.........ahhhhhhhhhhhh............that is so much better!!

Be nice to each other please...........if you cannot be nice, posts will be deleted, thanks ............vodafail.com.mod
17 Jan 2011 10:59:57 AM: Im not racist at all but on occasion i have rung up and had to keep asking them to repeat themself. i dont mind, its just kinda annoying when u are frustrated enough already when ur phone and internet dont work. then to have to keep saying what. plus i feel bad saying what to them all the time. they must get frustrated to.
17 Jan 2011 11:33:37 AM: Lol, vodafail mod 'everyone please take a deep breath and ahhhhhhh so much better'. This post is a funny heated argument and breathing oxygen just adds fuel to the fire. Just kidding. :)
17 Jan 2011 02:03:07 PM: @ 17 Jan 2011 12:59:57 PM

In may respects I am similar to you as well, in that I dislike saying 'Pardon?' or 'Excuse me?' or my favourite 'I didn't quite catch that (good old Lara)'

Somehow I just find it embarrassing to the person on the other end of the phone and similarly the customer service rep must also find it difficult, after all communication is a two way street!!!

@ 17 Jan 2011 01:33:37 PM

Lol as well at your comment and thanks for making it, brightened my day!!!!

Although at times I sometimes wonder if some people are in need of oxygen..........ho hum!!! Vodafail.com mod
17 Jan 2011 07:14:22 PM: i am unemployed at the moment why cant these companies open up their own call centres in Australia....i can get a job and we dont have to argue over this and the moderator can save some oxygen....hold on did someone say Australian companies are too poor to afford a aussie call centre...Oi who said that???

12726 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fail at 16 Jan 2011 04:53:01 AM
Poor reception soon as I leave town, reception so bad and unpredictable that I have a telstra prepaid as a backup incase I break down. Totally hate Lara, she needs a punch in the ovaries, as a female if the human species relied on Lara to reproduce the human species would disappear. And to top it off Vodafail does not care if their network goes down for days at a time, when my contract's up I am porting my number to Telstra.

12725 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is in an unrecoverable mess. at 16 Jan 2011 02:57:33 AM
A friend and I were having a coffee yesterday.

- Both own an Iphone 3G

- My friend is with Optus

- I am with Vodafone

- Both show 5 bars signal strength

- Simultaneously we type 'www.news.com.au' then press 'GO'

- His Iphone using Optus loads in approximately 5 seconds

- Mine, with Vodafone, still nothing displayed after more then 1 minute.

Would someone from Vodafone please like to explain? It has been like this in Adelaide since September!

12724 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is reception at 16 Jan 2011 02:51:09 AM
Vodafone's reception failure and problems has caused me to make many calls to call back work colleagues, thus increasing my telephone usage bills. The 'coverage' is in Potts Point. My colleagues use telstra and optus, and they say that using vodafone is a mistake. I just want to leave vodafone without penalty.

My second problem was using the vodafone help numbers to establish a new vodafone internet account, ie, the dial-up broadband. I used the 'help' numbers on my mobile 'phone and was charged hundreds of dallars on top of my usual bill. They reduced by bill by $100, but it was still $180.00 more than I usually paid.

12723 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is watching the world go by at 16 Jan 2011 01:04:10 AM
It has been a month of utterly shit 3G/2G signal and speed where I live, east of cbd. (Sigh) I can't reach vodafone support properly. Their website states nothing about the state of network towers in SA. Lara is a retard and not helping. Vodafone has not done anything about their retrograding infrastructure. Vodafone makes many customers feel like crap, worse than or as other telcos. Nigel Dews is doing shit all. (my general assumption and opinion) The infinite caps are making the network even more obliterated. I hope potential customers don't switch to vodafone. The indian call centre is for the vodafone in india, not australia. Tossing our calls overseas to india will not save costs, but cause more pain. Vodafone Australia seriously needs an Australian call centre. They also need to abide by the law and provide a service that works when they sell products to new customers. They also must promptly fix a service should it be broken nationwide. Vodafone Australia ultimately needs to go through and revise all 12000+ complaints on this site. They also need to revise through the plethora of issue threads in Whirlpool forums. However, they are ignorant. I don't think vodafone australia has any contact with their indian call centre. That call centre is a sidelined relic. The merge with 3 has not shown any positives since both provide the generally similar plans. Trying to gain market share by merging is just pathetic. If VHA think they can combine their $millions cash investment into their network to alleviate expenditure, then I don't see any evidence of them 'improving' their network over the past year. Nigel Dews, can you please tell us what on earth is going on with the company's network services. (he denies any issue at all) 15000+ customers signup to class action lawsuit and this vodafail site launches skyhigh into the heavens. (he automatically apologises with an attitude like Lara and tries to gain good public relations) We find that he lied to us that the network is all fine but its actually fkd. We wonder why vodafone has done nothing about the network. (he too, remains silent, aside from his dogmatic statement that the network will be upgraded and the service will be even better apparently.) I guess those 'upgrades' are disrupting the services so badly to the point many customers find it unusable. The CEO seriously needs to review the company's mission statements if there are any left. This failing network is taking long to recover and any upgrades should not sever our services for extended periods. And Vodafone's slogan 'power to you' needs revising. These days it seems that Vodafone has the power to do nothing. Luckily we customers have the power to leave. However, vodafone has the power to hinder us from leaving. Luckily again, with the help of TIO we have the power to leave without penalty. All I can say is thanks vodafone, for giving us extraordinary powers. It would be even better if they conserved their power for resolving their service...nuff said.

I live in the south east suburbs of melbourne and can't even get reception on my iPhone with Vodafail from my bedroom. I have an iPad with a pre-paid sim with Telstra and that has full bars in the same location. Perhaps if Vodafone spent less money on advertising through cricket, Coke, F1 etc. and more money on their network coverage, there would not be the need for this website. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

12717 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Complete Service Delivery Failure at 15 Jan 2011 09:40:20 PM
We moved to Point Cook recently from the CBD. Even in the CBD at times my wife and I had no service or poor call and internet performance, but it was still bearable. As it stands at the moment, at home we have no service at times, one bar most of the time, never more than two bars and then only for a couple of seconds and a very bad internet connection all the time. Mostly GPRS or EDGE connections, but at times we have poor 3G connections too, again only for a couple of seconds at a time. In my personal opinion the frequent dropping out of service, of both call signal and internet service, amounts to complete service delivery failure. Best of all, their coverage map states that we're supposed to have the same service here as in the CBD. What a crock. I won't recommend Vodafone to anyone, quite the contrary. I'm not going to stay with them either.

Work in the Rocks is no better and can drop out alot. Top floor of the building at the top of the ridge, not in any hollow.

I expect to grow some trees in the near future.

I had posted on vodafail before about the issues everyone seem to be having. I finally got in contact with them I demanded I'd be release from my contract and since I was unable to make or receive calls I wont be paying my last month bill. Vodafail then told me that they are experiencing issues and will have it resolve by the end on Jan or Feb. This wasn't good enough for me, so I am now out of my contract and all charges and last bill waved. I suggest anyone do the same!
15 Jan 2011 08:12:18 PM: friends and family have all done the same thing and vodafail will just have to wave the fees because they're just not providing agreed contract service.

12706 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely fail at 15 Jan 2011 04:52:58 PM
I was a three customer for many years and never had any reception issues. In November 2010, I went to a three store to purchase an Apple Iphone 4. I was told at the store that three handsets were out of stock and that Vodafone handsets were in stock. I was promised by store staff that Vodafone reception is excellent now due to the merger with three. Since signing up with Vodafone, I have had nothing but reception issues. A lot of the time, I can't make any calls or send sms messages and any text messages sent to me take a long time to receive. Using internet features is non-existent...I can't access any features including itunes and the appstore at anytime. I emailed Vodafone a long winded letter a few weeks ago requesting that they either terminate my contract or change me over to three (who I know have no reception issues) and they are yet to get back to me. I am regularly required to go on-call for work and the only form of contact that my work has with me is via mobile phone. I would not be surprised if work tries to contact me in the near future and the call fails to connect (which would cost me hundreds of dollars for any single call out). I continue to fulfil my contractual commitments by paying my monthly bill on time however Vodafone regularly fail to meet their end of the agreement. Why should I continue to pay for a service that is inadequate in almost every way??

Their slogan is "Power to you"...Whose got the power??

Yes I am a very frustrated customer!

I have been sending txt messages to 1512 to check my balance details (as advised by the 'lovely Lara'. I was advised by Vodafone CS that this amount was incorrect.

My billing cycle is starts on the 15th of the month, so when I checked my balance from 1512 I was very surprised to learn that I had $0 credit and an exclusion amount of $165. My phone was off for most of the day so I could check Voda's accuracy! Obviously NIL...

Originally with 3 mobile on my Mobile broadband, and with voda on a prepaid, all was well in the coverage and speed front. Then they merged and all went to the dogs. I was conned into beliving that the merge would increase the network speed and coverage so I signed up on a mobile phone contract with vodafone. 2 month of shit coverage (i had to manually switch my phone all the tome between GSm and 3g manually depending on where i was, and an ever slowing 3 mobile connection, i was told that i can switch my 3 mobile broadband to voda mobile proadband - and that that would solve my speed issues because more money was being invested in the vodafone side of things. So i figured a freww switch i could handel.

Now I have no connection to mobile broadban and shitty mobile phone coverage. My mum is in the same boat and my girlfriend too. Time to call consumer affairs i think.
2 Feb 2011 11:04:44 PM: Actually the merger has zero relation to network issues on Vodafone. The networks are both entirely different

constantly unable to make calls with full reception. calls drop out on a daily basis. people are unable to call me when i have full reception and get a message saying my phone is switched off - it doesnt even go to v/mail. Text message that dont get delivered to recipients for days after i have sent them, I dont received text messages for days after they are sent. Blackberry constantly goes to GSM network, which means no internet connect and email doesnt get delivered. Phone constantly turns off the network reception and i have toi activate it again. Never had experienced any of these issuer with Optus.
15 Jan 2011 11:29:14 AM: This is what people are having problems with. They get some reception and the network still fails to keep the call connected or even establish a connection. There is a massive national fault with vodafone's network towers in many areas. They are taking their time auditing and fixing them.

Telstra had completed this task in 28 seconds. Vodafone? 13minutes! You are a complete joke and an embarrassment vodafone. You need to step up your game or find something else to do.
15 Jan 2011 10:19:57 AM: Agreed. Those who are experiencing crap service for at least a few weeks and are not on contract, should leave to another telco at this rate. Those who are experiencing crap service for weeks and are on contract, should tell TIO (in how to complain section here) so that they can get you out of the contract fairly without penalty.

Re Vodaphone $99 Prepaid Mobile Broadband bundle being sold by Safeway/Woolworths, in short it doesn't work. 1 out of 5 attempts to connect work, and maybe 1 out of 20 attempts to navigate to a web page work, but I can't get any further, before it fails. Each attempt takes 5, 10, even 20 minutes. When it does connect, the speed is a third of my previous dial up. In short don't buy it, and please note Safeway have a no refund policy on this item.

12687 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is causing havoc in floods at 15 Jan 2011 08:11:50 AM
In and around the Brisbane CBD, I've had a horrible time using my phone while these floods are going on. I've given up on 3G entirely, almost every phone call drops out, often I sit there for 6mins with full bars trying to send SMS's to friends getting supplies at Bunnings, often I get "Emergency calls only" for a while, and often reception drops in and out of "No service" even though I've been at the same place all day.

It's made things really hard for us when family members are trying to contact, or our clean up group gets split.

I simply don't want to pay my bills anymore. I don't see why I should have to pay so much when so much of my time is spent persevering with this shit. I feel like I should be getting paid to stay on with them or at least be given the chance to break contract (god knows they're certainly not keeping up their end of it).
15 Jan 2011 08:25:25 AM: When in doubt, give the TIO a shout. They should be able to assist you out of your contact penalty free. The link can be found under the 'how to complain' link at the top of the page.

12685 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Unbelievably Rediculous at 15 Jan 2011 06:27:35 AM
I live in Eltham, North East Melbourne. One Month ago my service simply disappeared from my and husbands phone. All trouble shooting was tried to no avail. One month of hours and hours a day on hold, never being called back, trips to vodafone stores, no one has a clue or are able to help, no one able to cancel my contract, we will call you back..............nothing. TIO complaint response was useless, they said if its not resolved with vodafone in 10 days call us back! Im loosing business big time as calls dont even register or go to message bank! I emailed the CEO of Vodafone yesterday (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED) and was contacted immediately to be told we will have this problem resolved within 2 days. They bloody better, how much patience must one possess!!
15 Jan 2011 07:48:30 AM: TIO response is always like that. You lodge a complaint, then the phone company has 10 days to contact you.

12681 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is At least they know it at 15 Jan 2011 01:15:15 AM
I called up to cancel my $29.99 per month 4GB Mobile Broadband plan. Reason was because I got ADLS2+ now so I no longer needed it. I did state this but also mentioned the service was slow and dropped off a lot. The guy in the cancellation team I was talking to, in his thick Indian accent, immediately offered me 3 FREE months on the 4GB plan. I accepted and told him I would be cancelling after the 3 months anyway. He said that was fine.

Go on people, call to cancel and get FREE stuff. They know they are shit and are acting the only way they know how.
15 Jan 2011 01:36:57 AM: LMAO Vodafone offering goodies like other companies when its too late. Its like they're giving candy to a child, but we don't give a damn anymore. "Cancel" has lost its meaning amongst vodafone or maybe its missing from the Indian lexicon.
15 Jan 2011 01:40:06 AM: I bet you three months later when you call to cancel, they'll just extend your freebies again. The cycle is never ending. Vodafone is like a vacuum. You get sucked in.
15 Jan 2011 01:06:43 PM: I think I'll cancel my Ford a new Holden came out and I don't need it any more.

If you are in a contract why won't you honour it?
15 Jan 2011 01:48:16 PM: Because Vodafone is not honouring that contract as they are not providing a service that works ;)
15 Jan 2011 05:34:37 PM: omg im so sick of people saying shit like the 3rd replyer, we are stuck in contracts that we arent getting service for!!! we arnt getting what we signed the contract for, what most of us are asking for is to be able to MAKE PHONE CALLS which shouldnt be too hard as we signed a MOBILE PHONE CONTRACT. jeeeezzzzzz

12680 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is FAILING AND FAILING AND FAILING... at 15 Jan 2011 12:26:22 AM
I have been using vodafone mobile services for several months. Back then the product and network was fine. Until a few months ago, the network became poor quality and it has stayed that way for a long time. I, like many customers, was not aware that vodafone's network would fail suddenly in the upcoming months and not be resolved with urgency. I'm stuck on my contract for many more months knowing there is a remaining cost that I would have to pay if I choose to get myself out of this hell. Yes, I could contact TIO to help me exit the contract with no penalty, but here's the catch. Vodafone states that they are doing network tower upgrades over the next few months. However, they don't specify when such areas will be affected and when it will be completed for those areas. Stating when with where is very important when advising customers about vodafones apparent effort to upgrade towers. We never know that many of these network issues could be a result of tower maintenance. Unfortunately, vodafone's website does not detail network tower upgrade times/dates (only outages and upgrade locations are shown), so we are left uninformed and we begin complaining about persistent network problems. This obviously means that vodafone are not upgrading their towers with any urgency at all. Retarded as. Heres another notion. Some journalists wrote their hard opinions that we customers are all at fault because we could've chosen another telco and that we are lazy whingers. Thats lame. We are not entirely at fault because the law states that a business' goods and services must be fit for the purpose they are sold. Not the case with vodafone. We cannot predict such sudden mishaps with the network, so many of us are in contracts we had a while back before the ongoing crap, having to whinge our way through the poor customer support and TIO to even end them. Why? Because the network has been broken for an extended period and neglected by vodafone for a while. Don't blame us for whinging as the company is ignorant. Vodafone staff, don't stress or feel hurt over our aggravated state, just deal with it since the company you work for is ACTUALLY giving us shit at the moment. Most telcos solve SERIOUS issues like these with URGENCY. But vodafone is just acting too slow or not at all. With nostalgia, I wish vodafone was as good as it used to be when I enjoyed their services. Now it's remaining fallen, most of us won't wait forever for them to fix this crap. Most importantly: a happy customer supports a prosperous business and a reliable service brings caring customers. Vodafone have lost that and they need it urgently, don't you all think? -W.
15 Jan 2011 01:01:33 AM: I saw that article and comments calling us "lazy whingers. " How much research do you have to do on a company that is allowed to trade in Australia, and you're aware of a TIO and an ACCC and an ASIC and you're assuming they are each doing their jobs, before you get a sim card with that company? And then, do you also need to research the TIO,ACCC and ASIC? Probably yes. Most people are aware there is hypebole in advertisements- we thought there were penalties for deceptive and misleading practices. If you remind me where I saw it,I'll go back and post what I've just written there, or you can.
Yeah, I remember when Vodafone seemed good- when they seemed innovative, and just a little bit hungrier because they were new.Initially,I actually couldn't understand why friends seemed so glad to have left.

Upgraded my handset with Vodafone over the phone, was told that to insure the new handset I would need to go and visit a store after I had received it.. I did so, and was promptly told that I was no longer eligible for insurance as that needed to be arranged at time of purchase. Apparently they were not allowed to sell me insurance over the phone in the period that I upgraded, so rather than loose the sale, the staff member simply lied.. Now I am left with an uninsured iPhone which they refused to either insure or accept as a return.

Next I moved to a new house, and as my home phone was getting changed I though i could rely on my mobile to stay in touch.. Fail.. Vodafone had NO coverage at the suburb I moved to for two weeks as they upgraded a tower.. not even low coverage, NO coverage, I literally had to drive to the next suburb to get my texts and make calls.. I live in the inner suburbs of Brisbane, the third largest city in the country and they simply turned off coverage for a fortnight. im on a $99 cap, you would think that I would be entitled to $50 off? no deal..

I hate you Vodafone.. more than Telstra even.. and that is a massive call

21 Jan 2011 08:55:58 AM: Vodafone insurance is totally worthless anyway, read the PDS, I was unable to find a scenario where a phone would be covered.

12676 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic failure at 14 Jan 2011 10:24:31 PM
Okay, so i've had my phone replaced 3 times in the 4 months i've had it, i've had my sim card replaced 2 times.
my phone doesn't pick up 3G at all, at the most i get two bars of reception, i went to call Vodafone and what would you know? call failed, about 9 out of 10 calls fail.. they tried to tell me it was my handset and not the network after about 5 hours of calling them they tell me yeah, it is a network problem give it 7 days. i called them everyday for 3 or so weeks and i just kept getting palmed off to different departments, and someone told me at the call centre that they could replace my phone in store for a different handset, uhm no sorry. I'm not sure how many times i've heard "oh that isn't in your case notes" i went into a vodafone shop and got them to write case notes while i was there, i thought maybe the message would get accross apparently not, they offerd me three months free billing period, i didn't call up cancellations because i wanted a free billing period, i want to cancel my contract. I refuse to pay for a device i can't use, i was promised a functional handset and network.

they need to check their case notes, they need to listen to people, they need to get the problem solved when it comes to them, otherwise we're just going to get angrier and it'll only aggravate us more the longer we don't get it fixed.

and most of all, they need a better service. The lady i spoke to today said if i would refer one of my friends to vodafone, sorry i wouldn't do that to anyone i know.
14 Jan 2011 10:32:37 PM: one more thing, people that are going into Vodafone stores about network issues, they can't do anything even if the people at the call center tell you that they can touch your contract in anyway, they can't especially if you have an iphone, don't even bother.
15 Jan 2011 07:52:32 AM: I disagree, stating your problem in a loud enough voice that customers can hear, wasting THEIR staff's time and make them suffer to use their F.... up system, seeing them getting disconnected 3 times, put on hold. Holding up VFu..s resources, and turning their system on THEM, so they suffer from it. Staff can't pretend the system is wonderful when it so blatently isn't. Some may even find it amusing, I just find it wonderfully vindictive to give them what we get.
15 Jan 2011 07:54:02 AM: Oh and don't forget to use the instore button menu to grade vodafone on their 'performance'.
15 Jan 2011 11:33:00 AM: If there was a grading range from a to f, vodafone would generally be a z since mid last year
16 Jan 2011 08:32:38 PM: I had a woman try that on me the other day 9:52:32. Bad advice. She was out the shopping centre door so fast her eyeballs were spinning.

14 Jan 2011 10:23:14 PM: The Journo is just looking for controversy so he can get higher ratings. Funnily enough he was bagging Vodafone just like everyone else in an article on Delimiter the day before he released that article. Fail Journo is fail.
14 Jan 2011 11:19:19 PM: Seems like a bit of a knob to me.
15 Jan 2011 01:00:50 AM: The fag that wrote that article is a fkn hypocrite and a self contradictor between his own articles. He needs to get a lobotomy with his brain. Vodafone needs to resolve their network issues and it has taken us to the extent of 'whinging' to get their limbs moving. Pathetic. We don't whinge over minor issues, but these are not. They are nationwide and still unacceptably ongoing. Perhaps that journalist needs glasses too.
15 Jan 2011 11:47:15 AM: The journo who wrote this is Renai LeMay. He has a personal website here:

If you live south of Perth near Baldivis, don't even bother going with Vodafone. my wife was told that the lack of reception was due to an old phone, upgraded to an iPhone. She still has no reception, I am with another service provider and full bars. Went back to Vodafone and the first question do you have a tin roof? Yes! Thats the problem. LIARS!
15 Jan 2011 12:43:24 PM: I live in Baldivis and have recently changed to Vodafone with an iPhone4 and have no problems at all with reception, calls, txts etc. My experience with Vodafone has been great. Have a colourbond roof also. Why a some people having problems and others are not?

I get terrible reception on ALL carriers except telstra.
Still vodafone is the worst out of all of them. No 3G, no 2G

Optus atleast has full bars 2G at the house which'll do. It's in one of the new areas so i'm sure a new tower will be put in soon.

The absolute worse thing is when there is an impending natural disaster (Brisbane Flood) and your mobile phone goes from the usual PATHETIC coverage to ZERO, NADA "Due to congestion your call can't be connected", immediate hang up.

Is my WIFE alright? I wouldn't find out until she got home through pouring rain and flooded roads. I was beside myself with worry.

I've been a Vodafone customer for a decade. They were excellent back then. Until 3 months ago my phone has went through call dropouts and bad reception. I can't believe what people are telling me is true, that there is serious issues with the network. I thought I was alone in this problem, but this vodafail site shows I am not. I think it's time for me to switch to Telstra since my problems are not resolved by the customer support that also dropsout. Why do you customers think Vodafone's network is failing on us?
14 Jan 2011 06:48:18 PM: too greedy, selling far too many fones than the network can cope with, money they have made should have been invested in the network but those nob heads wanted to look good by showing huge proffits. should have invested in infrastructure

Wednesday 12th, nothing happened, called Sale again, was told by the guy who talked to Chirs that he will send me an email by end of Wednesday.
Thursday 13th, nothing happened.
Friday 14th, still nothing.
I went to a vodafone shop and bought the Plan and the mobile from them.Credit check done on-line in 3 minutes.
I called sales again this time I was told my credit is pending and this is why Chris hasn't emailed the confirmation.Asked why credit check wad done in the shop in 3 minutes and mine still pending for 4 bloody days in your office. She said credit can not be checked on line and should be done over the phone!!!

Anyway I got my plan and phone although there are some problems like incorrect address and missing ABN number as it is a business Plan.

I think the sales and customer care is a total failure.
14 Jan 2011 06:06:31 PM: Credit check CAN be done online ! easy as pie.
Most of the Vodeyfoney shops around my area seemed to be staffed by school age teenagers, who lack any real in depth customer service skills/product knowledge.

Poor coverage, drop outs, incorrect billing, delayed text messages that are sent and received, absolutely shocking customer service if you can term it service. It caused me an argument with my ex boyfriend, he claimed he was ringing me, I didn't get any missed calls, he said he was sending me messages that I did not receive, we argued over whose phone was at fault. But it had nothing to do with our phones, it was the dysfunctional network!!

12649 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is quite the fail at 14 Jan 2011 04:41:14 PM
I sent my wife an sms at lunch, she gets it at dinner. She sent me a text on Monday, I got 3 copies of it on Wednesday. Some texts don't even get through. I was texted by a mate not to pick him up cos he found a ride home. I never got hte text and after driving 30 minutes each way, then I get the text. Would Vodafone reimburse me some petrol money? Not likely. What if I had an urgent situation? Maybe I should put my life on hold to catch up with their carrier pigeon powered text message services. Quite ridiculous - It's as if I need to plan ahead to text my mates and family. By the way, I sent this a week ago on my mobile using Vodafone 3G. You beauty Vodafone.

12648 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 14 Jan 2011 04:36:22 PM
I have been through 3 phones on my first sim thinking it was just the phone responsible for my poor reception and sudden drop outs. I also would send text messages but would not get a reply until ages later despite full coverage. My phone would also completely ignore incoming calls! I am now on my 6th phone and 4th vodafone sim card and am still encountering the same problem. I have since joined optus. I have had problems activating my sim cards but was persistant enough to finally make my phone work. It has MUCH better coverage and I can actually use my phone for what it was intended for! Vodafone claims to have coverage for 99% of Australia, Its funny how I am always in the 1% of Australia that doesn't....

14 Jan 2011 06:09:47 PM: It's nice how they bend over backwards to help their customers.
14 Jan 2011 06:57:03 PM: Its nice how the customers bend over backwards for vodafail, do all the trouble shooting free of charge, do an audit of the networks failures free of charge, but those customers better not dispute a bill for that failed service, and those customers better pay those bills on time!
14 Jan 2011 07:00:39 PM: Having done all the investigations, the lon and the short of it is, the problem is that the sim card says vodafone, that is the begining and the end of the problem
15 Jan 2011 05:18:49 AM: OPtus and telstra also have similar ways
15 Jan 2011 06:58:15 AM: Not disputing that, but at least their bloody networks actually work!
16 Jan 2011 03:24:22 PM: For a result, Try http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/ask
at least I'm now getting reply's.
16 Jan 2011 07:12:47 PM: There are so many variables. Would you rather they asked you one question at a time and then had a look at that and then moved on or would you rather they got all the pertinent info in one go? Which can help them isolate an issue.

been with voda 2 years and they offered an upgrade, silly me agreed. got my new phone in mail, havent used, havent activated new sim.. changed mind due to lack of reception, poor service and long hold times.. called to canx literally when received phone (on hold for 40 mins) as assumed there was a cooling off period.. went through one dep where i explained i wanted to canx and send back phone main reason being no reception was told "well why didnt you call the network department" she then trans me through to "cancellations" where i was again on hold for about 30 mins, the rep then asked everything i had jus explained.. then said canx fee would be $1657 as there was no cooling off period

Bad reception .constant drop outs = frustration services not working, lengthy periods on hold 45m-to 1 hour .Staff arent clued in as for example Vodafone 1555 had me on the phone for two days to resolve email issues and it turned out that it was an Optus-Vodafone issue nothing to with phone meanwhile email worked 2 days before not working for nearly two months -it just worked for a week and they are down again.Vodafone reception is extremely apalling in my area there is only one area -spot it works in up the road so I have to drive to this spot every day.
I have lived in Peakhurst and Lugarno for 13 years and its bad and getting worse cant download either as the reception is shocking.
I have been with them since day 1 and have received no loyalty acknowledgement from them or help just bullshit after bullshit .I am certain they owe me $4000 in recalls etc

12633 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is not sorry to say that they are lost and their network is down at 14 Jan 2011 02:21:46 PM
By looking at everyone's agony here, it looks like Vodafone Australia will soon set a 2011 Guinness World Record of being the worst telco giant ever as of yet. I work in a small business and need the portability of mobile broadband. I only have 0-1 bar 3G signal, for weeks on end at torrensville. WTF is up with their crusty network towers? Did they turn the 3G function all off to save costs or did they execute an Australia wide armageddon against their network towers? I can't even recognise the difference between GPRS and 3G anymore. Perhaps, in the most appalling circumstances, Vodafone and 3 are still deciding on who should be what role in management. A year later, they are still hopeless at merging. They just leave some of their employees with redundancy packages, while we customers pay them monthly faithful to the contract, waiting (and still waiting as I post this) for them to fix their reason for existing. Vodafone is meant to provide mobile services rather than provide a bunch of loser statements online about what they 'plan to do' when they don't. They should just 'do it' for cryin' out loud and stop lying to us. Honestly, they lack honesty. Unreliably, they lack reliability. I would waste my words saying that but as of yet, Vodafone's service is shit. Because I'm drowning due to Vodafone's broken speeds, I'm going to catch a life boat and be rescued, at NextG speeds thank God, by Telstra.
14 Jan 2011 04:47:07 PM: There is no 3G/speed guarantee anywhere that I can find. You must be mistaking them for another carrier.
14 Jan 2011 06:00:04 PM: RE to above: wake up to reality. This is vodafone and 10kbps is not 3G speed even though it says 3G AND torrensville is covered in 3G zone. Having shit speed like that for weeks is not on. Don't make assumptions that the guy mistakened vodafone for another carrier because its true that Vodafone guarantees 3G speeds for a majority of the time in a 3G area. Check the Vodafone website.
14 Jan 2011 07:15:02 PM: 06:47:07PM is a guaranteed loser, despite vodafails bluff with the wording of contracts, there is government legislation which overides the bulldust, and the legislation (LAW) states "goods must be fit for the purpose they were sold for"
16 Jan 2011 07:14:43 PM: 9:15:02 that relates to your phone mate not the network. Only Optus provides a 30 day guarantee of service.

12631 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Open your eyes at 14 Jan 2011 02:09:18 PM
People have to realise that all netwoks have this problem at different times as I have been with pretty much every one of them. Within the last year or 2 the Telstra service was down for over 48 hours which no one seems to remember and it has been a long standing agreement within consumers that telstras deplorable customer service takes the cake.

It's all well and good to complain to these telco giants but all consumers must bear in mind the cost of VF hiring more staff to handle this, the cost of law suits and the cost of all this bad PR will only be handed back to consumers. You can be sure that if the outcome
of all this is that VF/3 mobile goes under that it's 2 main competitors: telstra and optus will increase their prices dramatically.. Simple business 101 people..
14 Jan 2011 02:44:06 PM: The example you give is only 48 hours. People have been posting their issues here since Vodafail opened. People have had issues with Vodafone for ages, Whirlpool forums has volumes of discussion about this dating back to even 2 years. It's been a few months and the issue keep piling. Nothing has changed. Thats the difference between Telstra and Vodafone. Telstra actually gets the job done in days. For Vodafone its been months and still going. Seriously. As for prices, I don't think Telstra or Optus would raise their prices, since they are already taking advantage of Vodafail and having the time of their life gaing market share.
14 Jan 2011 02:47:10 PM: Our eyes are open. However, Vodafone's eyes has been shut ever since.
14 Jan 2011 04:17:41 PM: 48 hours wow! try having no service for like 6 months, welcome to vodafone
14 Jan 2011 10:19:09 PM: Vodafone have shitloads of money that is why this problem exists, the tightarses havent spent appropriately on upgrading the infrastructure, they will wether this storm, it is hurting them, they have got egg on their faces, but they have got more than enough to ride this out.
16 Jan 2011 01:23:29 PM: rofl - my vf account was offline for 5 days straight !!

Can anyone tell me how to activate the call back option when you ring customer service? I don't want to spend the next hour of my life on hold!
14 Jan 2011 02:29:37 PM: Well unfortunately Vodafone doesn't realise that 'time is of essence'. They'll get back to you in 2012.

just called 1300 650410 (12min wait) to complain about lack of coverage in my area (Melb) - I was polite to the operator and her to myself, I explained my issue - running business, no mobile coverage and she informed me that Vodafone is having trouble with its network - its being worked on (??)...so I asked if she could indicate when the network in my area specifically might get better - no idea - so I explained again how important it was for my business that I have a working mobile phone and given my contract isn't out till Aug 2011 I think I needed to get out of my existing contract....she transferred me to Technical and now I'm lost in the ether somewhere (20 additional minutes to date and counting)..

12626 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Significant at 14 Jan 2011 01:24:37 PM
Today i sat in Australia Square, Sydney CBD, and made ten call attempts to four different numbers. For each number I was unable to even initiate the call before it failed connection. My iphone is working fine and i had full signal. One three occasions when I successfully connected, the call dropped and i had to recall.

Over the last two weeks I've been in Lismore NSW, a major regional city which in the past had good coverage. For most of the time in Lismore and surrounds I was unable to actually connect to the network or stay connected - a significant deterioration over previous visits to the area.

12625 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is going downhill fast following Australian restructure at 14 Jan 2011 01:23:21 PM
I was indirectly involved in the internal restructure resulting from the merger of Vodafone Australia and Hutchinson, which resulted in more than 270 Vodafone employees being made redundant across the country. The cuts started in July 2009 and progressively continued in latter parts of last 2010. These people came from all sectors and from the GM level down. There was significant changes in upper management with ex-Hutchinson management assuming many of the senior roles. It became very apparent subsequently that a different culture was being adopted particularly with regard to human resource management. Quite suddenly many of the programs that were setup to care for employees (even ex Employees) were dropped and new suggestions fell on deaf ears. Unfortunately many of the worst experiences for customers seems to have coincided also and I suspect could be traced across the similar timeline during the 2010 calendar year.
14 Jan 2011 02:31:18 PM: I believe you are absolutely right in the sense that this is one contributing factor to Vodafail.
14 Jan 2011 02:37:02 PM: you should contact wikileaks
14 Jan 2011 08:28:30 PM: As an ex VHA employee, I totally agree - after vodafone purchased back all their 'stores' and the 3 merger occured, it all started going down hill - network issues, treating loyal and dedicated employees and customers like they were completely worthless - the vodafone business plan was to become, quote 'Australia's first low cost' mobile phone provider and 'the most recommended' even offering staff an $150 Vodafone toolkit as part of a new workplace contract to try and reel in all our friends and family. They didn't give a crap that after years of service, instead of a pay rise I was being offered a pay cut on even my base salary - taking into consideration commission that was roughly $30,000 LESS than what I had been earning working for a great company called Digicall who actually CARED!. I could no longer afford to live, pay my bills, support my family but was expected to smile and sign away! They stuffed our salaries and commission, forcing many dedicated and talented people to just walk away in frustration. People like myself resigned because Vodafone sold out - it was all about reeling people in and who cares what happens next. I did care - I didn't want to continue selling a service that was substandard or lying to my customers who I had built trusting relationships with. What is happening now at Vodafone is called KARMA. You want low cost? You want to hire casuals? You want to screw people over - well what goes around comes around! Funnily enough I still run into some of my old customers that I spent hours with trying to help them resolve their issues. They all tell me they miss me and I should go back. My answer? Never. I wish I could - if it was still Digicall I would go back. Why? I loved my job. I loved my customers and I loved the people I worked with and respected the company because they respected me. And at the time Vodafone was actually a company that I was proud to say that I represented. Not anymore.
14 Jan 2011 10:26:09 PM: I cant stand vodafone but have to question the authenticity of someone claiming to have been directly involved in the restructure. Wouldnt you know it is Hutchison and not Hutchinson?
14 Jan 2011 10:27:51 PM: Common spelling mistake is common :)
21 Jan 2011 04:11:30 AM: Oh de ja vu... Sounds exactly like the ABC childcare takeovers. Treat staff like crap, company eventually folds, KARMA... When will these bright sparks (business CEOs) learn! Look after your staff and the company will automatically turn out to be great (in every way). Its not rocket science! These types of CEOs obviously dont have people skills...
