26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I was with 3 for my 24 month contract and it gave me minimal grief since upgrading and having to switch to vodafone it has given me trouble every single day. Internet 3 is hopeless. Slower then dial up from 1999. Takes over 5 mins to load a page if not at all. 3 was always quick to update and upload pages. I think its wrong to sign up with one company be happy with it and then sucked in to upgrade to another company which is apparently considered the "exact same" when in fact not at all. they don't even feed off the same phone linea. so how is it the same BRING BACK 3.

if you ever loose your mobile phone, dont bother trying to call and get it tracked, they wont help. a few days a ago i lost my i phone at a petrol station so i called vodafone to see if they can track it but the the customer service rept. said its impossible to trac it. so i got my feet and looked around and found it lying somewhere on the middle of the road. what a help vodafone.

The company charges double every time I call, and even when I don't call anyone, they charge me double. And I wanted to wait a bit to pay but they doubled the amount so I didn't pay them for a while, and they closed down my phone in September and none of my friends could contact me until I got a new phone and this time it's telstra.today they gave me a bill saying I have to give them $18000

15790 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Almost epic at 21 Feb 2011 05:53:04 PM
Ok, The 3G is laughable, doesn't work 8/10 times. So I don't even think it would be possible to use my 2 gig allocation. Lucky the phone thethers to my wifi.. At home at least.

When I went to the chermside store to buy a phone I got stuffed around by this guy that had no idea how to use their own software. I had to continually tell him which fields to fill out and how and he had to et the other store person to help on 4 occassions as well. It's not rocket science! It says first name, one would think it obvious this is where your first name goes? So after 70 minutes! Just trying to complete the application with this guy it failed my credit check on 50 dollar a month plan when I had plenty of supporting payslips and bank statements. Oddly my bank gave me a 5k credit card (which I was forced to get in order to submit my application online and avoid the shop assistants). I completed the form by myself on the net, put in all my info and details in the right boxes and got approved...

The store people can be very inept, the call centre people are about as bad. If you ever get through to the right department withou your phone battery going flat from being on hold.

Got a message warning me I hadn't paid my bill and must immediately do so! Weird because my bill gets direct debited from my credit card. Check the credit card and nothing. Called them back to inform them they had forgot to debit my account. They claim the debit was denied.. Weird no sign of any attempt on my bank account, credit card with plenty of credit. So they tell me to bpay it. I do, and phone to confirm this. three days later (on the correct billing date) they debit me the full amount again!!

I think you know the rest...

15784 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Getting slowwwer on data at 21 Feb 2011 03:40:26 PM
I still have a 3G iPhone but still considered a reasonable smart phone and noticed tolwards the end of last year 2010 my data and smtp pop email from personal and work email accounts
started to drop the sync and missed important emails.I did speed tests with speed test apps
and it showed some good days and bad days when I tested.I decided to do a test on my Vodafone iPhone contract phone aaaand....results below....
Type 'vodafail' into safari google and see how it almost fails to load? Then type Vodafone into it and see how quick it seems to load (quickest I've seen this phone run online).
Type 'Vodafone vodafail' and it seemed to trick what looks like the port scanners at
Vodafone central.then back to Vodafail and it loaded.I am soon to be out of contract and have been a customer who has paid by direct debit for 13 years .WTF happened to such a great company that used to defy fault and took it to (rip-off telstra and optus) now they seem
to be picking up the wounded ex Voda customers.just going to wait a while after contract expires
and maybe buy a medium quality android phone to eliminate hardware obsolescence and see if
The big V can make a come back after they get a thumping from the blue chip boys.hmmmm in the
IT world business customers would be rope-able .Its like buy a Mercedes AmG car and it having a Hyundai excel 1.5 motor in it.

15782 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very at 21 Feb 2011 02:53:03 PM
I have been with Vodafail for a long time now and recently upgraded while living for about 6 months or so in Tasmania. I on the phone said to the sales guy, 'we are moving to Sale/Traralgon area in 6months time can you make sure we have coverage'. His response was that we should have no problem. The coverage maps suggest this also.

However, once here, I was confronted with constant call drop outs, poor quality calls, awful data and various other connection issues. I called, got put on hold, put to technical department and then finally to the retention team. I told them of my woes. The rather scornful bloke on the other end basically said he wasn't cancelling my contract because my conversation with the sales guy was never documented. I protested saying that the coverage maps said we would have full and unabated coverage. He said that he was sorry and offered me to change to the unlimited plan (45 per month) and we would have this free for two months. I said to him thanks, but this means nothing if our phone is constantly dropping out and being a pain. I then told him I'd take it further. He said I couldnt' go any further but him.

I called complaints later and spoke to an English guy (from the UK) and he said sorry a million times before suggesting (surprised me) to go to the TIC....so here I am. Nice phone, beautiful two months free...but a coverage that is so awful I may as well try and establish my own network by launching some satelittes. With 18months left on my contract, I can't tear it up unfortunately...

Woe to Vodafone, the worst telecommunications company..and that's saying something considering we have Telstra....

Just got a 24 Month plan with Vodafone, with 1GB usage, have no way to check what I use as the system hasnt worked from day one. I phoned the staff to tell them. had to wait forever like usual. They said to wait five days, and forwarded it to the dispute resolution team. I waited a week, and got an SMS from them saying the problem is fixed, but it is not. so i am back at square one. I am past angry, i can only laugh nowdays,I cant fully enjoy my plan and its usage without knowing what I am spending, yet They have frustrated me that much i Don't want to waist my time to call back ? VODASUCKS don't have a complaints department or a TIO team. As they'd have a bucket load of complaints every sec of each day. So they have a Resolutions team that is made up of ghosts that don't like people, so leave a voicemail never to heard back from.. Hahaha Tried it and am proof

Approaching the ned of a vodafone contract with 40 handsets.
When questioned on a payout figure I was told $9,000 plus GST.
When queried I was told balance of contract $1,500 plus handset credits offered at beginning of contract.
Onc checking we have actually had $3,500 of actual hardware supplied over two years. Voda could not explain why I had to pay the full balance for equipment that I had not been supplied with. Needless to say our Voda contract will xpire in one month and will not be renewed despite offers of free handsets, free access for two months etc etc.

I went from Bathurst to Sydney over the weekend with my Nexus 1 and no matter where I went I could get NO data based services to work. Since getting back to Bathurst I've noticed their 3G service isn't working and all I have is (poor as usual) mobile reception.

I live in the building opposite the Vodafone office in Chatswood and I dont get reception in my house. I have to stand in my terrace while making a call, which is ridiculous.
Also, a little outside the city (any city in Australia) and Vodafone network conks off.
And I am not sure if this is applicable here but I have a 3 internet service is even more deplorable and I have been told that 3 functions on Vodafone network. The net almost never works except at night and when it does it is painfully slow.

15773 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is next to useless at 21 Feb 2011 09:41:24 AM
1. last year my husband was in UK for a couple of weeks. THREE DAYS after he got home, I finally received a text message he had sent from Heathrow. As it turned out he made it home (roughly!) on time, but if this had been a message to say his flight was cancelled or whatever, then not receiving it would have been a serious problem.

2. I am a senior doctor in a major public hospital and when I am on call (usually 24/7 for 2 weeks at a stretch) I have to be available at any time, for emergencies. Given how often I look at my phone and see "no service", this is a significant risk to patients.

3. My husband and I both have vodafail accounts and until a few months ago I would send one cheque to cover both payments each month. Recently and without any warning or notification, their finance dept became incapable of dealing with this complex and intellectually challenging task of crediting two bills from one payment. So without any communication they simply paid the full amount onto my account, which therefore ended up in credit, and sent my husband a rude message to say they would suspend his account if he didn't pay up. When after dealing with several people at some call centre somewhere offshore I finally managed to speak to someone who could understand what my problem was, she was unable to do anything about it, couldn't transfer my credit balance to my husband's account, couldn't send me a new statement showing that mine was in credit (because they can only send one bill a month!), etc etc. She did however offer to credit $25 to my husband's account to compensate for the inconvenience - but having just now received our next lot of bills, that hasn't happened.
For one thing it is PATHETIC that they can't deal with this anyway, and for another thing, if it HAS to change after EIGHT YEARS, why the hell didn't they notify us before actually changing it?

4. and now to add insult to injury, I just got an SMS message telling me I have to pay $133 - which is in fact the amount my account is in CREDIT due to their previous cockup!!

We are asking around for "word-of-mouth" as to who to change to - assuming we can get out of our contracts with Vodafail - but it certainly won't be Telstra, as we're looking to find an alternative to THEM for our landline and internet!

15772 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Annoying at 21 Feb 2011 09:36:16 AM
Just received an SMS from Vodafone advising me that I need to update my email address so they can send me my bill electronically, otherwise I'll be charged a $2.20 fee for them sending out a paper bill.

My email addresses have always been up to date on the system. I have not been sent a single email from Vodafone. And now they tell me they can't send an email to a fully functioning email address that has been up to date on their system for the past 2 years.

Well done again, Vodafone. I'll be costing them a lot more in Ombudsman fees if they charge me that $2.20. Over it.

Not to mention the constant dropped calls mid-conversation.

15771 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally fail at 21 Feb 2011 09:23:27 AM
Having spent quite some time trying to sort out my phone service - which has not improved at all I am now 'trying' to sort out my USB Modem. I get Poor or Very Poor reception where I live and for a while have not had a problem. However there was a two week period recently where I could not connect to the Internet at home, it was working last week and now it isn't again! As I am working (or trying to) work from home it is extremely frustrating. I have to get to the local library and use their computers if I need to do anything involving the internet.

I phoned Vodafone technical services this morning and was connected to an operator after a 12 min wait, we were on the call for a total of 20 mins when my call failed - no one has attempted to call me back so I guess it is up to me to phone back, make a cup of tea and 'wait'.

I am not happy with the phone service, the USB Modem and the lack of any helpful service from Vodafone and want out of my contract.

15763 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Ultimate fail at 20 Feb 2011 05:57:08 PM
Last year November, I chose not to be ripped by Telstra anymore. I switched to Vodafail considering the advantages (iPhone4 paid out in 2 years, $500 worth of calls, 1.5Gb internet). How would I know Vodafail was indeed a fail? I suffer with 3G reception in Melbourne CBD. How come your phone shows full bars of 3G reception and takes ages to load a simple website? Gotta be VODAFAIL. How come your calls drop when you walk on Collins Street in Melbourne CBD? Gotta be VODAFAIL. How come you check your phone at home in Caulfield North and find it searching for carrier? Gotta be VODAFAIL. The sad thing is. We live in Australia, the so called 1st World Country. And you really have not many true alternatives in mobile communication. You either bend over for Telstra, or get a crap treatment by others. Proud to be an Australian indeed.

15762 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is unusable at 20 Feb 2011 04:23:54 PM
Can any one help.
Two and a half years ago I was conned into signing into a contract with vodafone. I believed that I would be provided with a service. Over time I realised that I was being taken for an idiot. Two areas of concern are TXT's from my cell phone not being delivered. This created a personal situation where my daughters felt I was no longer intersted in them. The main concern on a different contract was not being able to get a signal to link with the internet. Rather than drone on I subsequently purchased an alternative sevice and attempted to contact Vodafone to organise termination. This has been an education to say the least. can anyone provide me with an email address, surface address or phone number that I can get a response. If this is being monitored by vodafone be assured that all my efforts have be documented and what ever the outcome State and Federal representatives will be kept informed.
20 Feb 2011 04:40:44 PM: Hi there

Vodafone do have their customer help number 1555 (take a packed lunch and plenty of water) and I believe they also have an email address, something like online.help@vodafone.com.au (you may need to go to their website to confirm the address).

Another method to contact them is via their facebook page, you have to join facebook and find their service, Vodafone Australia, ironically you have to 'like' them to contact them.

The team there appear to be improving with some of their customer service skills but IMHO they still have a lot to learn - but at least it is a starting position.

As an alternative check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, the page details the steps you can take to get a resolution.

Good luck!

I just want to cancel I don't want three months free I would rather be paying for a good service! been having intermittent coverage on both mobile internet and mobile phone for days, had no coverage for 13 hours yesterday. wanted to cancel my mobile broadband contract and was able to contact vodafone only when coverage was back... because it is my only source of communication.

however i was told that i need to find a telephone to contact vodafone when i was not able to connect to the internet. first, the waiting time to get to a customer service person on the other end takes a really long time, secondly, that person would most likely transfer you to another department whom you would need to repeat your issue to (again). without vodafone coverage in my area, i'd be spending a bomb on calling vodafone from another telco.

thanks for the inconvenience.

I forgot to mention,
Few months I think around November 2010, I purchased a vodafone 3g usb dongle (prepaid) and was trying to connect. The connection was a bit low and I called up vodafone customer service. AFter the usual waiting to be answered, the guy at the other end asked me
" Is there a tree near your house?"

I found the question really silly and asked why? and the reply was "because sometimes that obstructs the 3g waves"

Hmm... makes complete sense to even break the walls of my house so that I get better reception (sarcasim intended just incase vodafone still doesnot get it).

I am writing this to understand if any of the problems that I have mentioned are stille existing?

I used to be with Vodafone, but gave up on them largely because 3 problems

1. No network coverage in shopping centre. Even Virgin/ Optus gives me excellent coverage standing at the same location within a shopping centre.

2. Calls to vodafone customer service would take 25 minutes minimum before the call is answered by a human at the other end.

3. No Network for most of my train journey between Sydney and central coast. Painful experience.
20 Feb 2011 10:59:05 AM: all of these things are still problems to this day. vodafone isn't issueing compensation (or even a decent apology to customers*) so you have to go and claim it for yourself. compain to the telecommunications industry ombudsman (complete their form on line) and sign up the online form at piper alderman to get compensation.

*the apology issued was on the vodafone blog (gee, I tend to visit that blog everyday of the week!), and, in it, Nigel Dews tried to paint the situation as a law firm "drumming up business". NOT EVEN A PROPER APOLOGY!!! FU VODAFONE!!!

For the record I hope that Vodafone get sued SO SO BAD!!!!

I'm trying to get my usage details from the vodafone website, as my monthly rollover date is tomorrow.

"Please note: Due to continuing delays, this information is only current as at approximately 72 hours ago.
We hope to have this reduced to normal by Friday 25 February.
For more up-to-date information, some customers are able to:
- Call 1512 for your current months remaining entitlements, or
- Call 1555 and selecting option 1 for touch tone, option 1 for accounts then option 2 for amount owing.

We apologise for any inconvenience."

Vodafone is completely useless.

I have also been trying unsuccessfully for 3 weeks to get the date that my 24 month contract is up.

My phone has little to no service! and the company doesnt care at all. There advice is for me to pay out my contract to a value of $480. It is so frustrating, so Im going to put it in the drawer pay the $29 monthly fee and just get a pre-paid to get me by until the contract runs out. I must have a mobile that works with appropriate service, I have an unwell mother and little girl, so need to be contactable and vice versa, shame on this mobile company!!
19 Feb 2011 11:09:33 AM: Why?

You need to complain to the TIO to get away from this shoddy service, check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page for details, it really is very simple and hopefully you can be shot of this service in less than 10 days.

I have two nokia phones one on a $29 cap and the other a $49 cap. Vodafone emails me a copy of my bills with records of all my calls. At no time have I exceeded the the caps (also shown on the bills) and I am being charge in excess of $140. I was previously on a vodafone prepaid $49 cap with an older phone and very rarely exceeded my cap. I only got the new phones because I was begining to have reception troubles, but with the new phones it has been a lot worse than before.

We have two iphones with vodafone. They tried to tell me it is the phones that are the problem. We get about 90% dropouts, but can't use the phones at home because there is dodgy reception, I spent 80 mins today with various depts. and got the almighty runaround, even though they acknowledged that they had network problems. Their solution was that they would 'investigate' but would not give a time frame. I got really p'd off when the line dropped out halfway through the call to their technical dept. When the guy phoned back about an hour later, he told me I had been on the phone, as he couldn't get through Told him that was typical of my experiences, phone wasn't engaged, just showing No Service. Their latest solution is that I should get another plan with another provider for 3 months while they sort the problem and they won'r bill me. WHO IS THE IDIOT HERE?

On a contract ($69/month combo) plus a contract for wireless broadband ($39.95/month) and live in Toowong, 3km from Brisbane's CBD. Bugger all connectivity with the wireless internet and flat out maintaining 2 bars GPRS on the phone. Brand new Blackberry Bold as part of the incentive to renew with them.

Have purchased a Telstra Prepaid Wireless USB PLUS an Optus Prepaid Wireless USB just to reassure myself that it was Vodafone's issue and not the house, or the handset.

The funny part about all of it is that I need to plug in my Telstra or Optus stick to get online to pay my Vodafone bill every month. Have finally contacted TIO after being ever so patient with Vodafone's response "improvements are planned" and now awaiting response from them. Wish me luck!

15734 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the pain continues....... at 18 Feb 2011 06:29:15 PM
Ok, So back in the beginning of December I was lucky enough to get out of my 3 vodafone contacts only 10 months In. I made the decision to port to Telstra and have had trouble free mobile since then (thus proving it was their network and nothing to do with the handset) Voda agreed that to waive all termination fees if I sent back the handsets. They made a note of this in the customer notes (which I now have a copy of thanks to a helpful Vodafone store). They sent me bags and I sent back the handsets the same day - that was more than a month ago.

However... I then received a bill for just under $3000.00 for contract termination fees and two subsequent overdue notices. I have called Vodafone three times so far in regards to this (at my expense being on hold now that I cant call 1555 free). All times they have acknowledged that there are notes saying that I have been given authority to cancel for free but for some reason they cant seem to translate this into their billing system. I keep getting told to just ignoor it. And that someone will sort it out.

Once customer service rep actually told me that my service had been suspended for unpaid bills!! HUH!!! Seriously how stupid are they - I am not with voda anymore!!!!!

Now I am seriously worried that they are gonna say sell the debt to a debt collecting agency or put a black mark on my credit rating.

I have just raised this with the TIO - hopefully they sort it out. But has anyone else had this problem after they were told their contracts would be terminated without exit fees?
18 Feb 2011 07:41:07 PM: Yep I had that one with one of my phones.

I actually used their facebook team (more about that experience at a later date) and I made it very clear to that team that the agreement was , return phones - contract cancelled. Then the bill came through...........

I simply said I would not be paying the amount as per our agreement (Which I had in writing), a day or so later they wrote back to say all good contract cancelled.

I have still kept all the documents/emails as I feel 100% certain I shall need to use them again.

One other observation, the mere mention of the TIO appears to get things done.

You will be fine!

15717 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is terrible. at 18 Feb 2011 12:26:22 PM
Don't know where to begin - long term problems with both customer service and coverage. Latest problem? Noticed that I had a direct debit coming out of my bank account from vodafone which I never permitted - I have never given any company permission to regularly direct debit my bank a/c. Vodafone had my credit card details after I made a one off direct debit last year. Phoned up to complain and request that my contract (due to end june) be cancelled due to this issue and other extensive problems and instead of honouring my request to cancel the contract, they offer me a 'free handset upgrade' and suggested an iphone. However I find later that the 'free' upgrade was only if I agreed to another 12 or 24 month contract - so not really 'free'! During this phonecall I had to speak to numerous different departments and each time I was transferred to the next department, the phonecall was disconnected. I would wait for a cbk just in case but after waiting for a bit, I would phone back and be told I would have to wait or get a cbk. I would select the cbk option and when somebody would finally call me back, the call was disconnected again. I was getting so freakin annoyed. I was on the phone to vodafone on and off for around 3 hours and I had to phone them around half a dozen times during this time due to dropped calls. I am constantly having businesses, friends and family claim that they have been trying to phone me with no success, however no missed calls appear on my phone - occasionally a voicemail comes through hours or days later. The internet coverage is crap. I'm so sick of the vodafone pain...........................there are real staff working for vodafone - they just appear to work in another country, NOT australia.

Called voadphone - spoke to four people who ask me the same questions then transferred me then the last person didn't wnat to help and cut me off!! Lovely. So, I've either got a free iPhone out of vodaafail or sometime soon I hope to be connected to the service I have paid for. Another issue at Vodafone

http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/vodafone-forced-to-give-free-calls-after-recharge-debacle-20110218-1ayti.html

The article states at the end that

'The telco says it has since increased the capacity of its network and resolved most of the major issues around dropped calls and delayed texts and voicemails.'

This shows that they no longer deserve any patronage from anyone. Nothing has changed at Vodafone but they are constantly trying to make people think they have changed.
18 Feb 2011 09:44:56 PM: I am really glad they gave ppl free calls. It's crap that they can't get their sh*t together and let ppl recharge, but at least this time when they stuffed up they admitted to it and gave ppl something back.

If this had happened 3 months ago (it all changed thanks for vodafail.com) then they would have made ppl call india and chat to Reggie for 3 1/2 hours, only to be told that nothing was wrong and it was all in their head.

I will never use vodafone again as long as I live, but good on them for doing one, very very small thing right (for once!).

I am surprised that this website is not heavily documenting the current problem, which has been going on for days now. Customers on prepaid, are unable to recharge. So if you're out of credit, tough luck. I went to the vodafone store in Broadway, Sydney, to find out what was going on, and the guy that 'assisted' me, acted like it was totally inconvenient of me to be asking what was going on. I have been with Vodafone for over 7 years, and during the last few months, have seen them deteriorate to such a state that they can no longer function. Why is this? Outsourcing of jobs to cheaper and less qualified employers, most of whom seem to be based in Bombay these days.
Incredibly pissed off. Telstra, here I come.

Whe I tried to cancel my vodafone account they asked why and I said poor coverage and not getting sms alerts.

The lady told me that I would have to speak to technical services before I could cancel.

I told her I did not need to do that and I am not helping them troubleshoot their network issues (which are clearly documented).

After 3 more transfers a guy cancelled my account.

I can't believe how much the telemarketers are in my opinion are deliberately misleading customers into thinking they have to speak to tech support before cancelling.

Looks like to combat the mass exodus they are making it harder for people to cancel.

This is dishonest and in my opinion immoral.

What a disgrace. Sad to see a company I liked so much revert to dishonest tactics like this.

VF is not what it use to be, had a VF contract 2 years ago and all was well, re-signed this month (Fbe) with iPhone 4 and service is rubbish, regularly no calls in or out and poor data. excessive witing times on support centre and after 10 days, they finally ring me back on my complaint email to accept their service is poor and has been for a while (they couldnt answer me why, if this was known, they did not disclose before I entered into a contract) and recommending that I buy a pre-paid phone and transfer calls to it until the network is fixed in 2-3 months time. Idiots!
18 Feb 2011 03:11:00 PM: Same problem as you mate, was the guy below

When I was talking to them they told me that they would waive the monthly amount and told me to go get a pre paid account with another provider while they sorted it

After a heated talk with the cancelations department, I told them no and sent an email to TIO

8 days later, I am a free man :D
18 Feb 2011 09:48:57 PM: and one more thing, I had problems in September and they said the network would be all good in a few days. I called back in a few days when it was still totally f*cked and they said a few mooore days. So there I waited... then it was still f*cked. They say 2-3 months which means whenever the f*ck they feel like it.

Calls and my mobile broadband are continually dropping out as well as being extremely slow. Being in Defence I depend on my mobile reception to keep in contact with famile back home. Every time I have called to fix the problem they either hang up, never answer or never ring back when they say they will only be 5 minutes. I am sick and tired of their poor excuses and bad service I will be leaving vodafone as soon as possible and never going back or recomending them to anyone else.

15699 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no better than a pidgeon at 17 Feb 2011 06:54:11 PM
Well, they only took over 10 hours to make a no-brainer decision to issue a blanket sms advising recharge prepaid was down and a second sms minutes later advising all low cred prepaid have "free" national calls for the duration of the problem. These messages came through at 17:40 est. way after business closed for the day for most people, after 1,000s of customers joined the queue, but and I may just be a little cynical here but, after the media had got on to it but before the 6pm news. This may be bs or it may not be but I was told by a vodafone rep. that the voda service had gone right to the dogs since they bought and imported "3"'s customer database without adequate upgrades to Voda's infrastructure. When I first got their wireless mobile net, the software had been written over 12 months before and was useless, I phoned got Cairo and they said they would send me the s/ware update and to go to a voda store to get it. The voda manageress threw me out, lol, of the shop because after they told me they had NO access to the net generally, that as they had emailed me the upgrade that was their duty discharged, when I asked how I should access my email without net access she told me that I should try to find a friend or family member to download it for me- sure! I looked and the upgrade was only a mere 70 megs!!! yep! 70 megs, well it didn't work, did it. Altogether that month I spent almost 60 hours in Cairo (where their call centre was then)(not a joke) with phone monkeys trying to send this I.T. grad back to kinders. In the end I threatened then with TIO if they didnt courier another dongle to me the next day. The net now works but is no better than, and sometimes worse, than the dial-up I had had. The small saving grace was I never have to deal with the insects at Telstra re a landline any longer. Surely pidgeons could be more fun, with small monkeys on small dogs for local messages. A new era in 21stC communication.

15697 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Awesome at 17 Feb 2011 04:23:14 PM
People I am pleased to say that since I lodged my complaint with TIO 8 days ago I have now been released from my contract (I am only 10 months into it). I started the process up early Jan talking with Vodaphone and trying to get my phone sorted. After many phone calls I decided to send an email to TIO in Feb.

If anyone is serious about getting out of there contract all been over charged I have found you only have one choice...TIO

I belive that the customer service people you talk with before hand will drag the process on as long as possible, till A. you just get tired with it and just keep paying it or B. you file a report with TIO

Only recomendation I could give to people is to remain calm and try to be a nice as possible to who ever your talking to over at vodaphone, its a proven fact if you act like a tool that that person wont be as helpful as if you where just nice to them.

Im not sayin suck it up and just take it, you have TIO in your corner helping you out, let them deal with Vodaphone.

Being nice has meant that when I last called to make sure I could port my number, the lovely lady I was talking to basicly waivered my bills from my original complaint in Jan. She didnt have to, but I asked nicely and she did which just proves that being nice does pay off sometimes

Good luck to anyother people out there in the same mess, just stay calm and if it gets messy TIO will solve it so Relax guys ;D

15693 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Complete CRAP at 17 Feb 2011 03:11:49 PM
Like everyone else had calls dropping out, no reception at times, text messages coming hours later, no data access in the middle of the CBD. Rang up to complain, waited 40 mins for the call back and within 10 seconds he goes technical issues transferring you now, was still on hold 20 mins later, got the sh*ts and hung up. Ported to Telstra and now i find i have a $700 early cancellation fee. Called them up and he goes you should have stayed on the line and called again, even if i had to wait forever.
Vodafone are an utterly useless service provider providing no services at all and then stinging people who go elsewhere to get some basic service.
17 Feb 2011 03:20:53 PM: Have you been to the TIO regarding this matter??

Would suggest you do ASAP.

15692 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty bad! at 17 Feb 2011 02:10:48 PM
I have family and friends frequently calling me on my home phone because my mobile has been consitently "engaged" or going straight to voicemail, even though I had not been on the phone. So annoying! They don't seem to mind taking my money each month even though their service is completely substandard.

Who has actually broken their Vodafone contract under the "null and void /unfulfilled contract" scenario discussed by the ACCC?. I would like to give it a go and would like to know how others have fared...
17 Feb 2011 03:22:58 PM: Hmmmmmm......could be a dodgy strategy......best bet is to check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page..........eventually you will probably end up at the TIO, many people have had very good results and satisfaction using that route.

15690 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is biggest mistake of my life. at 17 Feb 2011 01:55:49 PM
since joining vodaphone i have had endless trouble!!! first my calls were dropping and then i had no service at all. ive been with optus my whole like but i got the iphone 4 on vodaphone because it was on a good deal. biggest mistake of my life!! the coverage is absolute shit!! they told me it was really good when i first got the phone and it has been all lies. i called up many times to try and get through but (surprise surprise) after waiting in the queues for hours, my calls would just drop out!!! which would mean i would have to ring back up and wait for many more hours before actually being able to speak with somebody!! i recently called up asking to cancel and for them to waive the exit fees as i was clearly not recieving a service i was paying for, they suggest a techinal investigation. there investigation came back clear.. saying there was no fault in the system. BULLSHIT! i called up the vodaphone company once more.. and mid conversation the call dropped out. the lady had to call me back. vodaphone THERE IS YOUR PROOF THAT YOUR SERVICE SUCKS!! the man offered me 4 months free.. which i naively took. now 24/7 my phone says NO SERVICE. not once has it come into service int he last two days. i cant call anybody, no one can contact me, i am losing work because of it. if nothing is done asap i am taking vodaphone down!! so fucking sick of it!!
17 Feb 2011 10:30:10 PM: Try turning it off and on (lol). I had "No Service" today on my iPhone 3GS while in the Brisbane CBD, corner of Albert and Mary. That's right in the city CBD and NO SERVICE! Anyway I waited 5 minutes and still no service so turned the phone off and on and then it came back. It will get you up and running until the next vodafail.

15689 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Do any people actually work at Vodafone? at 17 Feb 2011 01:32:37 PM
I had an account enquiry for broadband and I wanted to speak with a customer service representative, but each time I called, I got those terrible recorded messages and those same songs repeated over and over again. I'm beginning to think that there aren't any staff working at Vodafone. I've been on hold several times for over 1 hour and still not spoken with a real person.

15688 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is epic fail at 17 Feb 2011 01:24:23 PM
After being with Voda since 1999, and in all that time only had 2 issues.

Now, since resigning with them in November, I've already called them twice, both with billing issues - one for charging me a month in advance, which wasn't in the contract, or advised by the shop staff who were too busy trying to find music they wanted to listen to in the store ... The other for not emailing the bill to me, and then wanting to charge me $5 to click a button to reissue it - i then received the bill once a day for the next 3 days, lets see if they charge me for it ...

Add to that calls dropping out, slow if any data flow i'm starting to think a piece of string tied to a can would work better ...

15686 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Zero Coverage at 17 Feb 2011 12:40:39 PM
I signed up with them after being reassured that I would have network coverage.
Not the case and after several attempts at contact via phone, email and a visit to a Vodaphone store I was not given any solutions or reasons. Being on hold for no less than 45 minutes each time and told via email that the case I put to them would have to be dealt with by customer service. Still waiting for a technician to cal and that was over 3 months ago
I have since transferred to another carrier and am now getting billed by Vodaphone with the threat of legal action

15685 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL!!! at 17 Feb 2011 12:35:40 PM
The prepaid recharge option has been down for half a day now. I urgently need to recharge my phone and it simply won't work. First it's completely unavailable when dialing 1511. By now, I am at least able to enter the 12 digit pin, but when I press '1' to confirm, then a recorded voice tells me sthg about technical difficulties and that i should call as well as try again. Last but not least, Vodafone has the audacity to send me a text message after my last attempt 'Hope you choose to stay on your Flexi cap plan.' This is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!

15684 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor - can't recharge! at 17 Feb 2011 12:33:49 PM
I just purchased a pre-pay recharge card from Vodafone (I know, I know, glutton for punishment!) and when I went to call 1511 to activate the credit to my account, I got the recorded message that Vodafone are unable to automatically process pre-pay re-charges and that their operators are unable to do so either.
But fear not!! The message assured me they're working on the problem!

15683 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor at 17 Feb 2011 12:18:24 PM
Calls not connected, calls dropping out, messages delayed overall very poor service. Reminds me of Vodaphone over 10 years ago when they firsted started in Australia, only now it is worse because everyone thought they were a good service provider 10 years on. Looks like the old Vodaphone.

15682 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is worse than terrible at 17 Feb 2011 11:33:32 AM
ho, ho, ho! I just checked that message I left on their blog waiting to be "moderated". Well they 100% moderated it into recycled electrons, the *expletives deleted" have nixed it all together. to be expected really, hey what! btw if you are low on credit to ring 121/message bank, the message bank "outside" number 0414121121, I believe operates as a voda to voda call, someone correct me please if that's wrong. BBTW, how many dudes do we reckon they have monitoring this site, lol.
