26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2987 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 03:12:45 PM
Three months ago I went into vodafone to upgrade to an iPhone. They told me it was free to upgrade and that i would continue to pay the same amount monthly. However they were out of stock of iPhone but they would place me on a waiting list and contact me once the phone arrives.
However one month later after no contact I went back to vodafone to find out when i would receive my iPhone. There were no notes in the system and i had not been placed on a waiting list. They told me if I wanted to upgrade it would cost extra and the plans had gone up. I was very upset because this is not what i was promised when i wanted to upgrade.
I called vodafone and made a complaint. i was very angry and i wanted to cancel my account and move over to Optus. They put me through to their retentions team and i was promised a free iPhone on the same contract i was on. Again the iPhone was out of stock and I was told to wait a week or 2 and the phone would be delivered to my home.
Two months went by and I was sick and tired of waiting. I called Vodafone and was told again that no notes and no phone had been ordered for me. At this point I was very very angry and again was put through to retentions team because I wanted to change over to Optus. Again I went through the same process as before and promised a free iphone and no extra costs to my plan. Again i was told i had to wait for an iPhone because of no stock.
it has been 3 months now since I first contacted vodafone. I still do not have my phone. In the new year if i dont recieve my phone I will call A Current Affair. This has been ridiculous.

Over billing (being charged 3 times as much on my past two bills as on the past 12 months, having used the phone no more then usual) no explanation as to why and no chance of a refund. Bills being late or no coming at all, then being charged overdue fees, still no help. Phone droping out, no coverage etc.

Has anybody noticed that on the vodaphone website it states that the billing date is the date that your data usage is reset. When it is not. The billing date is included in the months bill and your date reset date is the date after the billing date.

Check it out!

I am in heart of the Sydney and I am facing drop outs everytime. Messeges come along with added 2/3 days. In my account section, there are 2 usage history with same account. How could it be possible???

At the contract period as well, it says you are eligible to use upto $500.00 worth of value in $49.00 cap but when they put you into cap., then they will give you only $454.00 worth of value to use and when you call them to ask, they'll say you, it is inclusive of GST. I searched everywhere and it won't mentioned anywhere that its inclusive of GST and even when asked Customer Support before putting into cap., I am sure, they'll say you the same story about the value you can use but you'll hear another story when you are in cap. afterwards. Becareful of Vodafone, this company is ripping us. I am anxiously waiting to finish my contract.

2918 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 02:56:25 PM
I have been a vodafone customer for more than 10 years originally prepaid switched to a post paid plan and that was fine too took a wireless broadband contract as unable to get other internet services at my new address all worked fine for the first couple of months then slowly over the last few months the reception and signal problems have started both of these devices run on the same network however at times I can have 3g coverage on my internet and my phone has dropped to SOS other times my phone will have full 3g coverage and I can't connect the internet. That's fine I understand that it's wireless service and at times the reception will be unstable but it is getting worse and happening more frequently. My biggest problem is with the customer service had a problem with my most recent bill and spent 4 1/2 hours on hold before someone answered my call, on the positive side the person I spoke with was polite and has hopefully fixed the billing issue but I won't know until I get my next bill!

2906 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is lousy!!! at 27 Dec 2010 02:53:59 PM
I am retired and we travel Australia. Vodaphone sales said I'd get "Great coverage" using their 7Gb pm mobile modem, Terrible reception from day one. Sent it back under the 14day return clause. Lady at Post Office said "Better Register it if it's going to Vodafone, because they will swear that they never got it" Took her advise and when the accounts for the use of a Modem that they had received (signature confirmed by Aus Post) they begrudgingly wiped the account. I still got 2 more email "Reminders" for payment of account that had been cancelled.
27 Dec 2010 02:57:14 PM: i had the same problem sending back their stupid phone. i made sooo many calls to them and they were terrible!!

2885 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Was Bad at 27 Dec 2010 02:50:41 PM
I switched from Telstra to Vodafone about 9 months ago. They messed up my combo plan so bad thinking I have 2 phones instead of 1 phone and mobile broadband. Hours on the phone complaining eventually they credited the account and gave me a years worth of free broadband. End result I haven't had to pay a bill yet and got an Apple iPhone 4 as well. Everything is working fine now. I also have adsl 2 with TPG. They would have to be the most unethical Telco I have dealt with ... the more you complain the more consistent network performance you get and I have to invlove the TIO. STAY AWAY FROM TPG AT ALL COSTS!

2873 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Really Bad 3G SERVICE at 27 Dec 2010 02:48:24 PM
I have been a loyal vodafone customer for 14 years. I cannot believe that they have allowed the network to get so bad since 3G services became a fact of life. I live in Darwin and since 3G came along Vodafone has dropped the ball. Yes you get the little 3G symbol on your phone, but NO data flows through. Good luck trying to make a phone call in Palmerston or Darwin Northern Suburbs. VodaDrop should be the new brand. Anyway I have 6 vodafone accounts with my employees, we will not be resigning with Vodadrop when we can get out of our contracts.

I have been trying all morning to recharge my pre-paid account via my credit card pre set up. It keeps telling me to end the call and try again. I desperatley needed to recharge and thus the reason for having my credit card linked for conveneance. Then resorted to wait on hold to speak with Customer service. Waited 30mins then call dropped out. Purchased recharge credit from store, $29.00 flexi cap. Went to send a txt and then was told i had insufficient credit. WTFF!! GRRRRRRRRR

aside from the network issues, I don't have an account login any longer. 6 weeks and many hours of circular conversations. Half truths and deception. I bluffed them once saying I was recording the conversation. Vodafone 'customer help' disconnected the call saying I couldn't record them. But they could record me.
After that I recorded almost every call. I have hours of the saga on hard disk.

All this happened after I changed from pre pay to a contract. I feel totaly ripped off. Not to mention serialy decieved!

2758 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is charging, contact, performance, etc, etc, etc, at 27 Dec 2010 02:18:15 PM
My account is due to turn over on the 19th of every month, I checked my balance on 16th to find I still had $28.00. I checked my bill after the 19th to find they started charging full fees for txts from the 16th. I then had to pay an extra $22.00. When trying to contact them I can't get through due to the high amount of calls coming in (no doubt complaints), at one stage I waited 30mins then to get some Indian that struggled to understand my problem.........every time I go past a lamp post the coverage drops out.

Firstly, I would like to bring to attention people that Vodafone has the worst reception in almost all areas of Melbourne, resulting in calls dropping out and generally wasting credit recalling or redialling. Also when trying to make aq call, the phone just does nothing for a few minutes then hangs up repeatedly. Then there is the issue with customer service which has been outsource to a call centre in INDIA!!! ffs i cant speak to somebody who speaks english just to maintain my account. I am so pissed off at the amount of credit and time wasted by myself just to make a simple call.

2745 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Kept sending me someone elses account at 27 Dec 2010 02:15:42 PM
I had rung previously to inform vodafone that I am getting bills for the wrong person. I have given over all details and also raised concerns that my bill is going elsewhere as it is more often than not, not sent to my hotmail account. The unhelpful Egyptian said that there was no need to fear, all my billing information was not being sent elsewhere. She also said that she would contact XXX XXXXX and apologise for his personal information being sent to me.

Well months have passed, I actually called XXX XXXXX myself because I tire of getting his bill monthly. He said he had never been contacted by Vodafone and had no idea his bill was being sent to me. He then called and apparently had it all sorted out. Well it seems that that is not the case.

I tried email and it took a month to get an automated response to Why is there an unusual or unexpected charge on my current bill?
I replied asking why they were sending my non-relevant auto resposes to which I got:
Hi ,

Thank you for your patience.

Vodafone apologises for the delay in responding to your enquiry within our normal time frames, and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We understand that due to this delay, you may have utilised other avenues to resolve your query.

Please note that Vodafone are unable to assist with handset upgrade or mobile internet technical issues via email. For assistance with these queries, please call Vodafone on 1555 from your Vodafone handset or 1300 650 410 from a landline.

If you still require assistance via email, please advise us within 72 hours, and we will respond as soon as possible. Alternatively the answer to your enquiry may be found by registering and accessing the My Vodafone website.

I then threatened to go to the ombudsman as they were in breach of privacy laws. I then got a HUMAN response (OMG the shock)
I apologise for the delay in replying. We have recently been experiencing higher than usual email volumes, and we are working through a backlog.

I have arranged to stop these bills from being sent to your email address. You will not receive any further emails regarding this account. Please delete any emails you have received to date.

I have 2 months to run on my 2 year contract and then I'm outta there!

2738 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Some regional areas of Western Australia have no network coverage at 27 Dec 2010 02:14:25 PM
On Saturday, 11th December, from around 1pm to 3pm the Vodafone network failed for around 3 to 4 hours.
It was announced that Vodafone would compensate their customers for this network failure. This has not happened in anyway since my current recharge...
I am a loyal prepaid $49 per month Vodafone customer.
I would have appreciated at least $50 extra bonus credit for the inconvenience after my 12th December, account recharge, which has occasionally been the Vodafone administration procedure.

UNACCEPTABLE! 60 % of the time I try to call and the line will not connect! WTF
My texts can sometimes arrive 3 days late! when I send them sometimes 4 days later they turn up..the billing system is in a constant state of crazyness whereby I am forced to call the customer care (laughable) every billing cycle to sort out OVERCHARGING of my account! to bve then told dont worry Ill sort it out for you now.... sorry ... it never gets sorted - one issue bleeds into the next VODAPHONE IM OVER YOU - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER .. 2720 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Completely hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 02:09:24 PM
I have both a pre paid mobile and a 24 month mobile broadband contract with Vodafone. My text messages take for ever to go through. It will say it is sent, but the recipient will not receive the text message for between 20 minutes and 24 hours later. Signal will drop out on phone calls in metropolitan areas and in the middle of phone calls.
My mobile broadband contract is a complete joke. The contract ended nearly 10 months ago and I am still trying to get in contact with Vodafone to get the direct debits ceased. Just last week I was waiting on hold on the phone for 3 hours to try to get this issue rectified (after which time my phone signal dropped out and the call was disconnected and I had not even spoken to anyone)! I sent an email and I first get an auto matic response saying they have resolved my query and to check their website. So I sent another email saying it is not a query and it is a complaint and is not resolved and I receive another auto matic response email SEVEN days later saying there is a delay in responding and it could be another TWO weeks before I get a reply!!! During these automatic emails I received my vodafone bill via email where I was totally shocked and outraged to see I had been charged 60% more for my bill than usual!!!! They are claiming I didn't pay my last bill - it is a direct debit and the money was in the account at the time the bill was due (even though I have been trying for nearly 10 months to have this stopped)and now my bank has charged me for having a declined payment!!! Vodafone - when is this going to stop? I have had enough - I am at my wits end. Even when I was using the mobile broadband it was always slow, often it would not even connect even though vodafone claimed I could get signal at my residence. I waited out the contract because I knew it was the right thing to do, but now I can't get anybody from Vodafone to speak to so I can actually have the payments ceased. This is getting ridiculous. All vodafone say is to call their customer care number, but I only have a half hour meal break at work (if I am lucky) - I am yet to speak to a person in that time when I ring the number! You can't even leave a message for someone from vodafone to call you back - they just leave you on hold. I am an extremely dissatisfied customer and regret the day I ever signed up a contract with Vodafone.

Their is no constant signal on my phone, also their is no Vodafone Tower in Coffs Harbour,I have had a number of complaints to the TIO about the service, Just try puting a complaint to Vodafone through their phone service, it is impossible, here is an example of their service. Dear Sir or Madame,Regarding my phone account with Vodafone, seem I cannot get through on their answering service in this number 1300 650 410 I get to the point where it keeps saying Hang on they will be with you in a moment and that goes on for hours with no further reply, I just wanted to know why my MSS messages are not receiving or sending on their premium service. Both in Abbotsford Sydney and at the south coast Gerringong there is no coverage. Vodafone does not answer its call for hours then states they will call back and dont. When you call they say the problem is resolved with resolving it. They send you to the store and the store sends you back to customer "Service". The ACCC doesnt want to know. Vodafone keeps misrepresenting their services. Their webpage is not working. They disabled PC to TEXT. Their billing is not working. Its Onetell again. DONT PAY YOUIR ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU GET THE SERVICE YOU PAID FOR.

2665 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:55:18 PM
Where do I start with Vodafone ..... First of all I signed up almost two months ago for a $49 vodafone cap, which was advertised as $450 worth of credit, 1.5gb of internet and 200 free minutes to vodafone and 3 networks across australia. It has been nothing but a nightmare! It took almost a week for my account to be set up, I was an existing customer and continued with the same number. I called vodafone to ask why it was taking so long and spent 2 hours on the phone to be told I needed to go into a vodafone store. I did go into a vodafone store, only to arrive and be told I didnt need to be there either and that my sim would connect in a " few hours" .... it didnt. So back to the store I went again, to be told again give it a couple of hours.
Secondly I ended up paying a bill twice because theyre system crashed which left me short for Xmas, and to top it off I am actually only getting 500mb of internet per month which the plan I signed up for stated 1.5gb.
Last but not least the reception is terrible, it takes weeks to get to an operator if you call them it is a disgrace!

2640 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Darwin Award! at 27 Dec 2010 01:51:42 PM
Vodafone guaranteed me unlimited free calls to another vodafone number of my choice. After signing up with them they assured me that the vodafone "best mate" free calls were active on my account to the number which i had chosen. Because I am a diligent person I repeatedly tried to check up on my account balance but the service, which is guaranteed in the contract, was unavailable for days on end. When i finally got to check my account i found that my balance was in the RED! This was because they did not activate the best mate properly. This problem happened repeatedly for the next 3 months. Everytime I called customer service I spoke to someone from overseas who tried to convince me that I would have to pay for the calls which in my contract were specified as free. The ridiculous attempts by vodafone customer service to directly deny the rights and remedies granted to consumers by the Trade Practices Act is something which needs to be addressed by the ACCC. To anyone who knows that voda has ripped them off and you are having trouble with customer service state to them that to deny your right to refund is a direct breach of section 53(g) of the Trade Practices Act. Vodafone makes money of a lot of these supposed 'mistakes' in your bill, processing of information, call drop outs, and misinformation provided by its customer service call centres. It is my suspicion that vodafone management is aware that these 'mistakes' make them money and they implement systems and policies which do not attempt to rectify these mistakes and make it difficult for customers to seek refunds.

Perhaps a new idea for Adam Brimo: VodaLeaks! Where employees on the inside of vodafone can speak out about any unethical practices which they are aware of within the organisation!

Ive been with vodafone since may 2010 i regret switching from optus to vodafone because:
- Poor customer service
- Long wait to get through to Customer Care
- Calls Drop Out
- Messages delayed (sending & receiving)
- UNCLEAR charges!!

I was sent out a bill for 90 dollars for the month of may paid the bill on time than my service was disconnected in November as 40 dollars was apparently overdue.. Not knowing what this 40 dollars was for i called customer care (waited 3 hours to get through to someone) and i was informed that someone had mistakenly paid 40 dollars on my account and that they sent me a bill for the wrong amount and that they had transferred the 40 dollars to the person who "accidentally" made the payment on my bill.. But i was not notified of this until i contacted them in regards to my service been cut off which was 6 months later!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! how can someone "accidentally" make a payment on my bill when i have my own account number and personal details and security code!!

THANKS FOR THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRY SERVICE.. CANT WAIT TILL MY CONTRACT IS FINISHED SO THAT I DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH VODAFONE EVER AGAIN..

I left Vodafone years ago, as they assured me I would be covered if my phone was lost/ stolen if I paid for insurance. My phone was stolen, and guess what? it turned out that the insurance paid did nothing - it allowed me to pay for a new phone (which would have been possible without the insurance). Then they "forgot" to cancel my account at the end of my contract so I had to pay an extra 2 months. Needless to say I would never go back to Vodafone! 2541 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is decrepit reception & service at 27 Dec 2010 01:29:22 PM
In late 2008, I had to contact Vodaphone the very next day after taking out a new contract because I had no reception at home. Their own maps showed there should have been reception. Vodaphone took many months before they agreed they would cancel my contract without penalty to me. In the process I had to continue to pay monthly for a phone I could not use. At one stage, when the phone was switched OFF [I was on a plane] it dialled one of its own service numbers hundreds of times and then sent me a bill for hundreds of dollars! There is far more to my story and I cannot bear to re-live it all! I will however, if I can get something for the torture and mental torment Vodaphone and its Reps put me through. I have retained the full file of this stupid saga. By the way, The guy at Crazy Johns also kept hard copies of his attempts to help me- they were not at fault..Vodaphone gave WRONG information about their coverage on their maps and when we verbally checked, they lied. The saga lasted around 9 months before I finally got a Zero account BUT I STILL HAD TO PAY AROUND $50 month for the privilege of not having a phone that worked! They even had the gall to try to charge me $415 "voluntary cancellation fee". That took many phone calls and very angry temper tantrums from me before they stopped the runaround from their staff!
Incompetent idiots and a terrible system. NEVER AGAIN!@#$%^&*()!
They should never have charged me a penny! There was never any offer to reimburse me for the monthly fees I had to pay!!!

2529 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely appauling at 27 Dec 2010 01:26:16 PM
I live in a fairly big City and am always having to find "hotspots" within my house just to be able to use my service. But even when you do locate one of these areas if you move your phone even in the slightest receiption drops completely. Making a call is unheard of, answering a call is hit and miss as the person on the other end 9 times out of 10 cant hear you even though they are crystal clear. Vodafone tells me this is due to a problem with my brand new iPhone4 that THEY sold me. I also waited 13 weeks for a replacement handset of another phone THEY also sold me only to be accused of trying to get something for nothing. And on Christmas eve I woke to find my service had been disconnected due to Vodafone failing to credit my account with over charges that they had placed on my bill and then promised to credit which they didnt. After 3 hrs 45mins I finally got sense out of them and got my phones switched back on. Vodafone is the worst telco company I have ever delt with. I too want to cancel my contracts and leave. Sorry its so long winded but believe me this is only a very small part of my grip with this company.

2522 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No signal in my street at 27 Dec 2010 01:23:13 PM
Vodafone map shows full signal strength in my street (Chapell Hill, Brisbane) but there is no signal at all. Vodafone Technicians acknowledge this and say the map is just a guide, and that sales staff don't have access to actual coverage maps. I sent my USB modem back and they cancelled my contract however each month I get a threatening notice saying I haven't returned the modem, and I owe them money. Each time I've phone them and they finally acknowledge I have sent the modem back and I owe nothing. When I asked for an apology and a letter or email acknowledging receipt of the modem and confirming my contract is dead and I don't owe them any money, they refused both requests. Great customer service!

My understanding of a contract is that both parties have obligations. Your obligation is to pay the account when its due, and theirs is to provide a service. If you're paying and they're not providing the service you signed up for, they've broken the contract - go straight to TIO.
27 Dec 2010 01:39:50 PM: well said mate it appears vodaphone are in constant breach of all their supply contracts.
27 Dec 2010 01:50:42 PM: See "decrepit reception & service" above - I told Vodaphone they had broken my contract and also asked for similar receipts & letter to no avail. Seems we have all been kept isolated until now but the game is now up for this bad deal.

I am from India. Vodafone's network is terrible. I am just waiting for the Mobile number portability to be implemented so that I can switch to a better network and not change the number. I have experienced call drops, Zero network when relatives of mine could call from the same place using other service providers, errors in billing and the worst customer care service. I would not reccomend this service provider to anyone. Please AVOID.

2458 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Service at 27 Dec 2010 01:04:05 PM
Two years ago I signed up for a two year contract. I just wanted to check email so this was for 1 GB per month and just under $30. In recent months the reception level has just dropped badly whether I am in Sydney, Central Coast or nearby. At the same time I am getting unusually high excess usage charges that I cannot check out. I cannot get into their account page as it requires active status of a mobile I got rid off a year ago. Calling the help number just means someone on the other side of the world who either hangs up or drops out in seconds. I do not want to deal with this company again.

2446 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Shocking at 27 Dec 2010 01:00:28 PM
A friend recommend I move over to vodafone after my contract expired from another carrier. I did and what a disaster!! I was told that it would take 24 hours to change over and I can keep my phone number. 3 days later I was not connected I rang around 6pm and was on hold for 2 hours till 8pm and was disconnected. I tried 2 more evenings and on the 3rd day I was told they are experiencing technical problems. I was without a phone for 7 days. Finally someone told me that initially the staff did not ask me for my old carriers account number to do the transfer (so much for training!). I was connected. Now I am experiencing reception problem. My phone hardly rings and I can hardly hear the person on the other end. I cant wait to return to my original carrier.

I had a mobile internet modem which did not connect, super slow speed and if connection did occur never did I register anything but poor signal. It took me over a month to get someone from customer "service" to cancel my contract and that occurred only after I lost my temper and demanded to speak to a supervisor. When I registered with vodafone they got my email address incorrect and I was receiving duplicate accounts for overdue amounts I knew nothing about. Not happy Jan

I had the same issues as everyone else. Drop outs and no service. I had one month left of my contract and decided I couldn't wait that month. So expecting to pay out the last $100 of my contract they have now billed me $450!! WTF?
27 Dec 2010 03:23:41 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"
27 Dec 2010 04:25:38 PM: GOOD LUCK ...when i contacted the telecomunication authority and the law courts the UNIFORM response is LIKE ALDI ...VODAFONE is not an AU identity and therefore NOT under the durestriction of AUS authorities. unless I can obtain detail of an AU address and name responsible THE courts have advised they can not prepare a summons for me to serve
27 Dec 2010 06:31:16 PM: Any company that operates in Australia is bound by Australian law. But in this case Vodafone that operates in Australia IS an Australian company it's called "Vodafone Hutchison Australia" and the CEO's name is Nigel Dews.

I was around my partners place last night using her post paid Vodafone Internet. It kept cutting out all the time. I restarted it 6 times in 2 hours. I used to using my Telstra Cable connection which has worked flawlessly for 6 years.

The government needs to take Vodafone to account. All Vodafone users should DEMAND a REFUND!
27 Dec 2010 04:03:27 PM: I have had my Nokia E63 for 1 year and it takes my phone 3 hours to receive a text message from my friends and I'm with Vodafone. So Vodafone is really Vodafail!
27 Dec 2010 04:25:04 PM: I am in Sydney suburb. You are fortunate to receive even if after 3 hours. Mine gets lost or arrive next day. I just drove from Paramatta Road, Strathfield. I had no signal for over 20 minutes. Vodaphone wasn't so pathetic. It just gets getting worse. I am willing to return them the phone, if only they will be so kind as to cancel my contract.

27 Dec 2010 09:30:06 PM: I have been with Vodafail for approx 10 years, i spend approx 38-48 hrs outcalls a month and who knows about incoming its up there, all i can say i have been getting an incredible amount of drop outs say 10-20 a day if not more, the reception seems to be getting worse and then i try contacting them and it can take up to 2 hrs sometimes i cant get through as when it seems i have gotten through it hangs up on me absolute CRAP and we pay premium rates for this pathetic service, i am actually considering changing carriers asthey dont care so maybe i should just move on from this trash

I signed up with 3 mobile broadband couple of years ago - not flash, but they did the job. Then, Vodafoney took over, and things are downhill all the way - many dropouts of service, offline for 60 to 90 minutes at a time, customer service calls go unanswered, or are re-routed to an automated voice message, pointless browser re-directions asking me to activate my account - after my pre-paid data allowance is finished, so will I be.

Vodafone. IM SO GLAD TO BE FREEEEE OF YOU! When the "scheduled maintenance" that occured on a saturday a few weeks back, i was left with a brick of an iphone 4 with no service available. Most vodafone users around me got their service back that night. Me however - No. SIX DAYS OF NO SERVICE! I rang every single day trying to figure out what happened, being left on hold for hours at a time, being disconnected etc - then on the sixth day I spoke to someone who said it takes seven days once they've put a 'voucher in' to source the problem, and ohhh, they forgot to put the voucher in so i have SEVEN MORE DAYS TO WAIT. Well obviously this led me on a tirade of abuse for a good 10 minutes saying I want OUT and NOW and i want my 200 dollar bill WIPED and blah blah blah.

Well after being told to wait while he transfers me to the accounts department to cancel the contract i screamed 'dont you dare put me on hold again!!!" and I was told "it's an internal transfer so it wont be as long a wait". OH REALLY? 2 hours.... 2..... hours. of.my.life.

Anyway it turned out to be worth it as after explaining how long I had been without service and how they breached the contract, they wiped my bill, told me they would refund my handset fee i pid up front and let me out of my contract - just have to send the handset back.

Now I'm with optus and they PWN VODAFONE SO HARD!

We can now only get reception if we stand on tip toes at the kitchen sink on a clear and still day! Which were we live the adverage wind is about 5kms on a rare and very still day, usual is about 25-30km. They are also insisting that we get letters about issues we,ve raised like the sever drop on signal and constand drop outs, and network busy messages in written letter form. Which is great fun cause it must be the account name, who is my blind husband! they know he is blind, we had to jump through the flames of hell to get them to put voice over back on his phone after it went in for repair! My favorite part was when they looked at him and said the icons right there, can't you do it? Anyway, we we're told our issues here in south illawarra are due to storm damge that happened about 9 months ago! Which I believe cause before that we had alright service, unless you had to deal with them. That said, 9 months! Get up and fix it! my husband uses his phone and it's reception as an emergency mobilty aid!

Long receptional delay times and cut outs every 5 minutes all on international calls. Tried phoning 1555 to resolve this and Vodafone text and emails regarding I owe them money on account I closed off more than 2 months ago, which I lost credit on my phone and internet prepaid system. Their call centre staff are not clear, concise in speaking fluent language, I made it clear to them to speak slowly and claerly, they are rude. Easy way to loose customers world wide, and they'll loose their jobs.

I got out of my mess - It cost me $2,000.00 thought to do it. I had a plan and have been a customer of Vodafone for 8 years - No longer!!!
The bastards had me pay out my contract due to a missed month payment. i had been unaware of the missed month (due to a banking error - it is automatically debited from my account). The months of me being in arrears continues for 9 months whereby I was paying my $160.00 per month plan payment. I thought I was entirely up to date in the meantime. I changed jobs and missed a payment which I was aware of and contacted vodafone to see if it would be ok to miss a month. They said yeas, but by the next month they cancelled my contract, sent in the debt collectors and demanded the upfront payment of my existing contract. I called their complaints department and was told by the person on the phone that even though they acknowledge that their records show the missed communication from their end I would still have to pay it upfront. I asked if I could continue to pay out the contract month by month but they said it had to be paid in full within 4 weeks. I argued with them for 3 weeks and achieved no result. I payed the contract out and told them I would NEVER be a customer of Vodafone again. The most excellent bit of this sad story is when I asked how to change my iphone over to another service provider. They direct you to a website that I thought would unlock to iphone to accept other sim cards. The Vodafone website charges you $25.00 to do this. I paid it and it sends me to web site that gives you instructions on how to unlock the iphone.... Greedy Wankers!!!! Needless to say, after that experience I would never recommend vodafone to anyone.
27 Dec 2010 12:33:53 PM: dude, you missed your bill and let it go into default.. NOT Vodahos problem really.. And not related to their coverage service..

Not paying your bill is YOUR problem..
28 Dec 2010 11:39:34 AM: I would look into that, if they are not providing you a service you can break the contract with no service fee.

2232 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Bad to worse at 27 Dec 2010 12:11:33 PM
Recently my phone started sending out multiple copies of texts. My friends were receiving up to 10 copies of the same text. I was unsure if I was being charged for these texts, so I tried sending a request to my account balance. This was hopelessly inaccurate as I was never sure when the extra texts were sent.

So I decided to call Vodafone.

I could not get hold of anyone.

So I decided to see exactly how long it would take before the system cut me off, or alternatively, if I got to hear from a human.

I placed my phone on the charger, rang the number, put it on speaker so I didn't have to hold it up to my ear. This I did at around 10am. Over 24 hours - TWENTY FOUR BLOODY HOURS - I was still on hold. Every 15min or so arecorded message came through to let me know I was in a cue and my call "was important."

In the end I gave up. I had been on hold ALL DAY, and ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, into lunch time the next day. Before I actually hung up.

Prior to this I had called every number possible related to Vodafone, and managed to speak to one person in the "business" dept who referred me back to the numbers I had called.

A week after this experience I received a call from a vodafone telemarketer - in the middle of work - asking me if I wanted to sign up for extra specials etc etc.
I took this opportunity to tell him of my experiences and relate my grief and concern that I was being charged for texts I never sent.
He said he'd get back to me after speaking to his supervisor.

3 months later, I'm still waiting.

In a little while I will buy a new phone, and I will NEVER go back to vodafail.
I'm utterly disgusted with their dodgy practices.

Oh, and reception? Only in the inner metro north of Melbourne. Everywhere else is one to 0 bars. I have noticed nobody else has this poor range with their providers.

I live at Cabarita Beach, Far North Coast NSW and have NEVER had any reception at home!!! I can't receive, make calls or retrieve calls on my Vodafone mobile from my home. I either have to go down the end of the street or up into town to do any of the previously mentioned actions. Can send texts IF I wait long enough to get a signal, but often fails then also. Can take up to 2 days for my text to arrive at it's destination. Have been told on numerous occasions that new towers are being erected over the past 5 years but that is a load of hogswash. My niece works for Vodafone in Sydney and the rewards that they receive (overseas trips, dinners at top restaurants, grand Xmas parties etc)are fantastic. Maybe they should look after their customers as well as their employees. After my experience on 23/12/2010 though, I have now decided that it is time for me to look for another mobile company. Tried to send a message in Tweed Heads, which had full reception and received a SYS-ALERT and just thought that I had no texts left (I had over 90 only a couple of days before so this totally confused me). Sent a message for my account balance to find I had no credit at all. Proceeded to the Vodafone shop to find out that I had had $22 odd dollars worth of credit and my texts on 22/12/2010 but my credit was due to expire on 23/12/2010. This is the first time that I haven't been advised that my credit expiry date was getting close and advise to add credit. So they told me to call 1555 and ask for complaints which I did. After waiting ages for them to answer, I asked for complaints and was instantly disconnected. In total, 200-300$ disappeared from my vodafone account over 6 year period. When trying to resolve issue, the access to my vodafone Internet account got blocked. For five years we had our family business's six services with Vodafone, the coverage was never any good over our home office in 2035 or at parts of UNSW but the customer service we got as business customers was good. We recently had a change of account manager to the invisible man. Then I did a road trip to Byron Bay, up the New England Highway, back down the Pacific. As a test I bought pre-paid SIMs from Optus and Telstra and found, using thjree identical Nokia phones found both Optus and Telstra have good coverage in country towns and Byron Bay, but Vodafone coverage was atrocious. I contacted Vodafone many times over a six week period and CSRs kep promising 'someone will get back to me', of course they never did. We have now switched to Telstra.

2140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:50:54 AM
Terrible coverage where I lived (even though it was inner Sydney!) and Vodafone refused to do anything about it for a number of years. Then they started charging my bill for services I had never asked for. After months of trying to resolve this I eventually started a TIO complaint. All improperly billed money was eventually refunded but Vodafone never addressed the fault in their billing system that caused the overcharging in the first place.

Not to mention the huge wait times to talk to customer service staff. These used to be regularly 45 minutes, and are still something like 10-15 mins. In comparison, Telstra have made huge strides recently to improve their customer service, with friendlier staff and zero wait time every time I have called them.

Ported out to Telstra in the end, and advising everyone I know to steer clear of Vodafone.

2113 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more painful that having a tooth removed without anaesthetic at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:24 AM
I have no data coverage and I live in the middle of Brisbane!!! I have just signed a contract for 2 years and am really dissapointed that I have minimal if no coverage Also, I went into 3 Vodafone in the city and asked if someone could help me with setting up my HTC. I have a hotmail account and for some reason it won't verify. The guy at the shop pretty much looked at it and said for me to ring Vodafone support and then proceeded to write the number down. I also asked if he could cancel my prepaid internet with 3 as I now (well I'm suppose to) have vodafone internet. He then gave me another number to call...... !!! I am sick of ringing Vodafone only to speak to someone on the other side of the world who have no idea and no people skills..... I am a single Mum who feels like I have been told lies just to get a sale. I feel sad that I have to pay an amount per month for a service that doesn't do what it is supposed to. I knew I should have never gone into a Vodafone store.......

I got charged $20 in excess in my past billing. Fed-up calling vodafone customer care close to 4 times and spending each time over 20 minutes with no one from customer care able to solve my issue. Every time after a long try somebody comes in the line and says their software is down and they cannot access my account and hence cannot provide any solution. Fed-up i thought wasting my time over 1 hour in total costed me much more than $20 that i was chasing up. Thanks to your initiate on starting something like this which really makes people like me who never go to the extend of filing a compliant officially (because of the stated reason)but to share my pain. Pl advise if anyways that i could support your initiative

2071 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:35:29 AM
I've been using Vodafone for 18 months now & when my contract is up I won't be renewing. Their billing makes no sense, with bills far greater than what they should be. Reception is virtually non existent. I can go days without internet connectivity, and when I do have connection it's slow and poor. The network dropped out the other week & the help line could not be contacted!

I've been suffering with call drops, slow data speeds, little to no reception (in the middle of perth) and deferred messages. I went to my local vodafone store to try and sort things out but was told because I've only made one formal complaint, which was about my billing, there's basically nothing I can do about it because it's their word against mine...
What ever happened to customer service? I'm disgusted.

2060 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Dec 2010 11:33:20 AM
Interesting disparity in the number of complaints from different states. Even after accounting for the population of each State, it's clear that the problems are mostly affecting the south-east. For example:

- ACT has over 1/3rd of the complaints as VIC, with only 1/15th of VIC's population). Even more telling, it has four times as many complaints as WA, with around 1/8th of WA's population.

- QLD has half the complaints that VIC does, despite having a similar population.

- Barely any complaints from WA and SA, which both have populations in the millions.

So I think we can say that NSW and the ACT are by far the most affected, with VIC moderately affected, and the rest of the States nowhere near as bad.

2045 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is International FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:30:34 AM
I am not ina mess now! BUT!!! I joined Vodafone in July. I onformed them I needed an account where I could send TEXTS to Sri Lanka, and that there are hundreds per month. I informed them of my fiance's Phone Provider. They said that is not an issue. I got the new Sim Card, alerted all family and friends my new number. Closed my long standing account with Optus, and thought I had found the BEST phone Plan... WRONG!! The Text messages would not go through. I called Vodafone and alerted them. They then told me they do not support my fiancee's network provider, when they assured me they did. I was ANGRY.... I had signed a month by month contract for 12 months. I can't remember what happened next, but the next day I called them again. They said that my fiancee's phone provider WAS the ONLY one the covered, yet the day before I had been told conflicting stories. I was fuming. I told them to shove the SIM card up their ASS and that I would not be paying a cent for any calls I made. I then emailed headoffice and they agreed with my story and cancelled my number, but it still took over a month for them to clear the bill, which was $3-$4 dollars. The network providers we are talking about in Sri Lanka are Airtel and Dialog. I WILL NEVER USE VODAFONE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM!!!

2042 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Poor is not the correct word at 27 Dec 2010 11:30:08 AM
I was with Vodaphone and like evryone else was annoyed at the poor signal strength and drop puts. I contacted (tried to) service support. Each time was advised that there was a 40 minute wait (regardless of local time)...never 10, 20, 30 etc but always 40. I then did the "call me back thing" and I was called within 15 minutes (so what happened to to 40 minutes....thay had lied). Triedt to log into my account but could not log in. They reset my password, but still could not log in. My final straw was when I visited a Vodaphone store to cancell my account (I was not on contract thankfully) only to be told that I could not do it there atn that I would have to do it either online or over the phone.........what a terrible way to run a business

2000 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is bottom of the pits at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:37 AM
Well, after they couldn't manage to send me a single bill and after 5 months of me hounding them for one, they disconnected my account for failing to pay up... then came the $1000 unexplained bill notification via text message, with a threat to disconnect me AGAIN, for failing to pay a bill I had never received...this was 3 months worth of bills that they still refuse to explain, even after I was advised to raise my cap limit to keep bills manageable ( mind you my usage never changed but the bills would vary by hundreds of dollars. If only I had known about the TIO back then. Finally after my handset broke, and they refused to help me as it was one week out of warranty (and still had about a year left on the contract), I went and got a Telstra account. Perfect service, great reception, much better than the crap I had to go through with Vodafone. Then I discovered that I also have a bad credit rating thanks to them, after trying to sort out the mess with them I just walked away and gave up, until now. After lodging a complaint with the TIO, who are fantastic, I recieved a voicemail message from Vodafone, with a request for me to contact them on a mobile number... which I did, and it was disconnected, so I contacted TIO a 2nd time. This time I got a request from Vodafone asking me to TEXT them. No reply again, so now the TIO is taking this onto a further level. Thank goodness these guys exist.

1991 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Reception Deception at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:27 AM
I live in Kalgoorlie, WA.

ONLY VODAFONE requires that you have to move about to get useable reception - from around the inside the house to standing in the driveway.

The Vodafone-trained employees at Vodafone Kalgoorlie ARE NOT interested in faults, only in Sales. They also have VERY limited product knowledge, especially phone features.

And, don't you just love the "typewriter" sound effects "Lara" gives you when you call for an account balance - talk about antiquated.

Last, but not least, Phone Bank is phone wank, Vodafone must have taken a leaf out of the Banks when developing this rip-off.

After numerous calls to vodafone, numerous letters, application to the ombudsman and ombudsman action and a visit to vodafone office in Broadway Sydney I STILL on December 27, 2010 have no connection and a dead phone.
I have been a vodafone prepaid customer for 10years. Clearly they appreciate and look after their long term customers .....NOT.

I could not get the internet to work when i first joined vodafone back in June 2009. I downloaded the settings on-line installled them on my phone and followed all the instructions, yet it wouldn't work.

I tried calling the help line, but after being on hold for 20 minutes the call would drop out and i would be placed right back in the front of the queue again. This happened about 3 times across different days.

I tried going into a store, to only receive attitude from the staff who were completely disinterested as i wasn't buying. All they did was tell me to call the customer support.

I called customer support and got through. All the operator did was send the settings to my phone again, which i installed again and yet still didn't work.

I tried logging a request on the online support platform that vodafone have. Still no luck.

I tried calling vodafone and simply asking for some step-by-step instructions to change the settings my self. I finally reached an operator who understood my exasperation and put me through to the support. After speaking to someone who did mot understand english i was put through to an operator who finally solved my problem. My account did not have internet activated, despite me requesting it on the application form i completed.

I don't understand why Vodafone make it so hard to help their customers. Vodafone have serious issues in terms of the culture in there organisation. It is completely customer service averse.

1853 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not sure - but its a fail. at 27 Dec 2010 10:40:09 AM
I don't know if its a Vodafone fail or a Commonwealth Bank one, but I rang the bank and everything is fine with my cards and accounts:

I am registered for the Bonus Bank scheme, I wanted to purchase the Nokia E71 with the $14 I had on my account - turns out if you're with the Commonwealth Bank, you CANNOT make a purchase with Vodafone online.

For the record I was trying to use my Debit Mastercard = no go.
Tried using my brother's Commonwealth Band Mastercard, with his permission
(a regular credit card) = no go

Now I have $20 in my Bonus Bank account and that's lovely, but I can't use it.

Please explain?

Been trying to log into my Vodafone account online for years in order to change details etc. Sometimes it works, other times it tells me it's the wrong password, then I have to enter my birthdate and then it tells me MY OWN BIRTHDATE IS WRONG.
Yet instore, all is fine and dandy. I don't get it, how is it my details can change so often by someone who isn't me or with my authority?
27 Dec 2010 11:14:47 AM: I just posted my own story but I had exactly the same problem with logging in on-line also. When I tried to contact them via the website they made it so hard and time consuming you just give up. They don't respect people's time and I am sure they have set it up deliberatly to discourage you from contacting them. They think we're all idiots.

My hunch is that these coverage/billing/roaming issues are the result of vodafone trying to intergrate the 3 and vodafone networks.

We used to live on the sunshine coast. Used to get good 3G coverage in the house.

Then one day that all changed. We could only get roaming. We didn't move. Didn't do anything. But our roaming charges went through the roof. The only thing that changed was the network. Which was the same time all these other problems started appearing.

I've had so many issues with vodafone I'm no longer with them. But most recently I was on the phone for almost an hour, on hold, trying to sort out a billing issue. Finally I had to hang up before actually speaking to anyone because I had to go to work. I have called back twice since and spoken to customer service people in Mumbai who are trying to sort out my billing issue. Vodafone needs to reimburse me the $60 they charged to my credit card after I left vodafone in October. They admit they owe me the money, but they haven't reimbursed me yet.

Last year I travelled for work and a vodafone sales person recommended I use a USB with a 24 month contract for wireless internet. Many of the places I travelled to in Australia had very weak service, if any service at all. I spent hours and hours on the vodafone help-line, and finally vodafone recinded my contract.

My father and sister had vodafone accounts until recently. For the ten years they had their accounts they received extremely poor customer service. at the completion of their contracts they have been charged at least $100 more than they owed, but the process of trying to deal with customer service prohibits any attempt on their part to reclaim that money.

Also my date is PAINFULLY slow, facebook, smh.com.au everything takes ages to load (even if it does load).

Vodafail stuffed up my billings and kept charging my credit card for overdue fees that kept rolling over - even though the bill is directly debited and i always had adequate funds. When i inquired in person, i was told that it related to the billing cycle. When i asked for it to be ectified i eventually got YELLED AT by a female worker in the Macarthur Square branch, in front of other customers. I said that i was going to make a formal complaint. After the complaint, i heard no response. Finally when i rang to end my service with them, they apologised and gave my free $50 credit so that i stay with them. I am now with OPTUS and have not looked back. Much better customer service and better reception. Vodafone is a big bbig customer failure. GO TO THE TIO. Itll make them loose control of their bowels over in the call centre in India.

1729 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is VERY at 27 Dec 2010 08:55:59 AM
MY ISSUES (MAYBE NOT AS SERIOUS AS SOME HERE BUT ENOUGH TO PISS ME OFF!)

- I recently went to renew my contract (dont know why i bothered), I called to Vodafone to ask wheather I can 3 months before it was due to end) I was told yes.

I wanted the iphone4 on the 99 unlimited plan. Was told that I can go ahead and sign up now but there is a 3 weeks waiting period becuase iphone 4 out of stock.

My brother who also had renewed his wifes contract to the Iphone 4, 3 days earlier was told same story out of stock, He inquired weather he can join the contact over the phone and pick up an Iphone 4 from a store, he was told "YES". He eventuallyh went to Rockdale All Phones, on presenattion of his details picked teh phone up and didnt have to wait 3 weeks.

Upon being told that this was possible by my brother I made a call to Vodafone customer care and enquired if this was possible. I was told No, by a call centre personel in India. Line quality was very bad mind you. I then asked about my contract and was told NO i must wait till the end of the 24 month period. I was then transferred to another department only to be faced with a prerecoded message that this department is closed for the day and to call back. WASTED 1 hour on the phone, including waiting period, to have a 5 minute conversation.

I rang the next day, India again and waited on the phone for 40 minutes, Was told I cant renew my contract because crrently im on a business plan. And you cant switch from business plan to personal.

I explained to vodafone personnel that whilst the name of the plan relates to a business, it is still a personal plan and I am not on a business plan as such. This was recognised and then transferred back to another department to someone in Aus, thank god!

She looked into my case, told me there are no issues and I can go ahead, transferred me to renewals, waited another 20 minutes, I asked If i can pick up the phone from a store and I was told NO. I cannot, I must sign up at the store.

I explained what my brother did and was told that was not possible. Then I just gave up. Hopeless, no one seems to know anything...they all need re-training....im sure some are very good, majority just dont know and dont care.

Other ISSUES

- No reply when i text 1555 for my account balance.
- I call 1555, go through the commands, only to be told, "looks like we are experiencing technical difficulties, please try again later".
_ Website is extremely slow, no matter what computer I use (I have ADSL 2+ and the latest PC with all the latest software updates).
_My text messages dont get delivered on time, especially MMS.
_Calls drop out all the time. (could be the iphone)

_my friend is in ispute with Vodafone for almmost 2 years over data charges, they have told him that they wont barr his phone, pending investigation, told not to pay his bills and now his phonebill is over $3000, as it has accumulated over this period, Now he has been told data charges afre vaild and he must pay all charges and phonebills.

WHY DID IT TAKE VODAFONE ALMOST 2 YEARS TO INVESTIGATE, IT WASNT UTILL HE CALLED THEM TO INQUIRE THAT SOMEONE REALISED WHATS GOING ON AND LOOKED INTO IT.....HOW IS HE GOING TO AFFORD TO PAY A $3000 BILL?...AS A RESULT OF VODAFONES OWN MISTAKE...YOU TOLD HIM NOT TO PAY HIS BILL UNTILL THIS PROBLEM IS SORT OUT, THEN YOU TAKE 2 YEARS TO GET BACK,,,AND GUESS WHAT,,,,HE HAD TO USE HIS PHONE....AND YOU DIDNT BARR IT, AND HIS BILL IS NOW $3000 AND YOU EXPECT HIM TO PAY IT IN FULL, CLAIMIMNG DATA CHARGES ARE VALID AND EVEN GIVEN HIM A DUE DATE OF THE END OF THE MONTH.

1716 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dropouts and help service at 27 Dec 2010 08:43:30 AM
I allways thought my problem were my fault!

I have two accounts with Vodafone which I've had for some years and I have certainly experienced many of the probems mentioned by others, but I have always assumed that my problems were the result of my error, errors on the part of the caller or called number or just general shortfalls in the technology.

I frequently experience dropouts, in fact about every third call drops out. But I have assumed that either I or my call partner was holding the phone wrong and or pressing a key during the call. I have assumed that this is easy with touch screen phones.

I have had so many calls that drop out as soon as they are answered that we have joked about the service provider initiating the dropouts to generate more revenue through redialed calls. It's a standing joke among my closer friends who have experienced this the most. It doesn't seem to matter which handset I'm using, the problem remains the same.

And I too have had so much difficulty trying to log on to my Vodafone account that I have stopped using it. Actually there may be some benefit here, because I've begun to compile a book of handy password using the ones Vodafone has issued me with when I contact them. The only dely in publishing is that I need just one more password, but I can't get on to Vodafone to get it.

I'm both amazed to see that others have experienced similar problems, and appalled to see the extent that a company is able to fail in it's obligations without any overseeing authority pulling it into line.

Hi After being with vodafone for 4 years and being on the business plan, I couldn't make calls, custmers struggled to call me, after changing my phone and sim contacted the network many times they finally gave me over $800 credit on my account. Great but still my phone would be better if my phone worked and stopped dropping out!!! Truth is vodafone used to be great but the last 6 months the service has been very poor and frustrating and has lost me money. They did offer me to end my contract but I hope the service just picks up again!!

Sent to SMH - There is another area of Vodaphone's activity that needs looking at and that is the use of its name overseas. So far as we could ascertain from questions asked in Malta the company effectively franchises its name to independent overseas companies without any supervision.

Trusting the name "Vodaphone", we entered into phone plans in Sicily with Vodaphone Italia. The service varied from appalling to non existent - Credits just disappeared and no-one including the local "Tobacchis" could sort anything out. One "Tobacchi" spent nearly an hour on the phone to them, so it wasn't just a "language difficulty"

Appealing to the English speaking Vodaphone Agencies outside of Italia was useless. They had no proper technical or managerial relationship that could help. We were left with the impression that overseas persons using Vodaphone's Italian network were at the mercy of very questionable business practices.

This abuse of a company's own name via unsupervised trade name franchising is surely "unfair trading". We specifically emailed Vodaphone in Australia (using Wifi in MacDonalds) and asked if at the very least they would communicate fully with their colleagues in Italy - to no apparent avail. Indeed when it seemed too complicated it appears they just dropped us.

As to what the franchise status of the Australian company using the name is - I didn't ask. All we ever wanted was reliable iphone and ipad services. We got practically nothing, however much we "recharged" our accounts in Sicily

I would never use a company with Vodaphone's trade mark name again - not Italy - not Australia -anywhere!

Vodafone don't care I'm stiched up in contract and get billed for calls not made and services not used but vodafone can't be contacted and the Bathurst office says little and helps even less, Bathurst office told me that the new phones would work at my home but it does not unless I get lucky afer climbing a tree, all very curious that in 2010 that 20 kms from Bathurst Vodafone can't give me a service that works although they said they could.

I cancelled one billed by month service after being wrongly billed had to pay changed to prepaid and still get the same poor coverage.

I'm fed up having to climb trees to make calls in the rain or drive 1.5 km to make a call that mostly drops, out visitors come and they phone out from my home on other services, the Bathurst Telstra shop told me that the vodafone I have all 3 of them are not suitable for the local coverage that they are city phones, I went to the Vodafone shop and they told me that the phones were fine for in Bathurst and agreed the phones were not suitable for out of town and that the previous vodafone staff made a mistake.

to move to another service I need to buy another phone.

We once had a CDMA service that worked here at my home.
