Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Purchased a brand new Nokia from Vodaphone 3-4 months ago -after giving my old phone away which was again Vodafone thinking its the phone that had the problem. Same problems. NOT JUST ME WITH THE NEW VODAFONE BUT MY HUSBAND AND MY DAUGHTER - HUNDREDS $$$$$ WE PAY EVERY MONTH. Thank goodness for this site but i doubt anyone will listen - talking to ourselves as usual - I guess it is better than having to wait for someone to answer the Vodafone customer service line - or maybe they cant hear it ringing due to reception they are experiencing - with the average waiting time we experienced is no less than 25 minutes... At least we know now its not our phones that have the problem and we can now change provider.
VERY DISAPPOINTED and Extremely angry - the least they could do is answer the phone and tell everyone they have issues - rather than have everyone suffer and pay. Good luck to all of us fools just write it all down and at least we now know - we are not alone...

think this website it great, vodafone customer service is very poor, when i attempted to unlock my phone with vodafone it took many days of calling up there poorly run overseas call centre, when i made a complaint with vodafone about this the person at the call centre refused to transfer my call to a supervisor or manager or anyone else, they also ended up charging me more then what was first told to me to unlock my fone.

I have only been with Vodafone for 2 months and I have had very unstable reception, numerous call drop-outs and very slow data speed. My phone is constently searching for network even in major shopping centres, not to mention using internet. I felt being lied to that Vodafone representitive told me that Vodafone provides much better reception coverage than 3 network, which now is obviously not the truth as I was an old 3 customer for years. Let's not even compare Vodafone's coverage with Telstra and Optus. I have hardly any reception when in the underground car parks and Brisbane ICB tunnel. I could not believe a very simple international MMS that can be achieved with any other major network provider canNOT be achieved with Vodafone!?!?!? When ringing Vodafone customer service hotline, the service is the worst that I have ever experienced. I had to wait for an average of 35min to 45min to get through and no one seems know what kind of MMS service they can provide. My call was hung up numerous time or being asked to call back later. My call was transferred between different departments and all they can tell me was that I can send MMS but Vodafone cannot guarantee the person I send MMS to can receive it; and if someone is to send MMS to me, Vodafone cannot guarantee I will receive it, but the cost will be charged - what kind of answer is that!?!?!?

It has all heppen to me......Vodafail i have been with for maybe 8 years same number. They convinced me to go on a plan from pre-paid i was only using $49pre-paid per month some months i couldnt even use it all. Once on a plan my largest bill without making any more calls was neary 650.00 for the month when contacting Vodafail i was told that oh the call connection is more the per min rate is more all things they never told me when some random contracting company Vodafail shop which Vodafail dont own told me i had to contact Vodafail to complain. IM TELLING ALL OF YOU TO GO INTO THE SHOPS COMPLAIN AND IF THEY TELL YOU TO CALL VODAFAIL SAY YOU SIGNED ME UP YOU FIX IT NOW OR I WONT LEAVE!!!!!!!
By doing this my contract was cancelled....I have had days when i send a single text and it sends it over five times when ive not sent it more than once i recieved messages back from friends saying ok ok i got it ok!!! This used my credit and i want it back! Also calls that seem to drop out Voda to Voda after 20 mins or so this is a very common one i gues Vodafail wants us to call back again and again and pay the reconnection fee.... AS for Lara we cant talk to anyone Lara now forces us to listen to advertising when we are trying to call for customer service or recharge i have a life and am sick of Lara using it up without my consent get rid of her and the dam call centre in some foriegn country i would like to talk to someone that has been primmed to fake the Aussie lingo and pretend they are around the corner what ever happen to the truth. 5592 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is not happy at 27 Dec 2010 11:19:19 PM
i am a long term customer with vodafone. i recently went into one of the perth cbd mall customer service centres to enquire about my sony ericcson that has been faulty since i received it free from vodafone only to be told by a surly employee that they are not a phone technician and if i am not happy with my phone to give it to them for free. i have never had this service before and was quite appalled. he then turned and walked away. i also thought my phone was disconnected on the 11th dec when there was no service available for the whole day. i could not even use my internet as that is also vodafone.
5587 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Vodafone can go fuck themselves. at 27 Dec 2010 11:14:36 PM
I tried to cancell my contract , I was told multiple times that I had been canceled by vodafone, but THEN I kept getting post saying it was being processed. Every time I got one of those letters I rang customer service and was lied to. I was hung up on multiple times, usually while in the middle of a sentence. I was promised half a dozen call backs and never got any. I was repeatedly told no supervisors were available to escalate my call, when I could clearly hear people giving the person I was speaking to instructions in the backgroud
AT the end i bought myself out of my mobile contract with them by sending them back a 6 month old HTC desire.
The one call I got from them was the day after I spent money to get the fuck out of my mobile contract so that I would never have to deal with the useless pricks again. The guy who rang was also the only person who seemed even remotely competent.
Vodafone can go fuck themselves.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CALL VODAFONE ???????????????????
After more than three rounds of automated menus you are offered "if you are thinking of leaving Vodafone" strangely also on option "4". When you eventually get through there is silence on the line as the unnamed operator waits for you to say something.
I never find out the person im speaking to.
It appears (and I still struggle to believe this is true) that the sole purpose of option 4 at Vodafone is to tell the customer they can't leave for reason a, b or c or indeed to explain they may leave but must first pay an exhorbitant sum of money for the priviledge.
my guess is that when the service is crap it's because some clever chap has worked out a tolerance threshold and has calculated the likely impact of churn on revenue (a bit like Ed Norton's character in Fight Club working out whether or not to issue a recall on a car model which has just crisped its passengers...) and has worked out that if you keep your shit below this threshold you make more money by ignoring and abusing your customers.
Their customer service and plans have gotten worse. Vodafone has no landline infrastructure to maintain so they should be able to offer far better prices than Telecom.

I thought it was my location inside the house that gave me poor reception. I noticed my prepaid lnternet connection just died down on me and couldnt do any web surfing. Have to wait another 30 mins if it is a regular day and when I wake up in the morning if it happened late at night. Calling their customer service number is just plain annoying with endless recorded messages and waiting time.

I joined Vodaphone's mobile broadband service earlier this year. Big mistake. Terrible service constantly with drop outs almost every 10 minutes. I was given the option of breaking my contract without any costs, because of the 'lack of service' in my area (I live in central Melbourne-go figure!!). I agreed to this, except when they tried to organize a return pack for the USB stick, they couldn't find my address! Even though I have received bills from them! After a painful 20 minutes, I was told I would need to go to my local council to 'verify' my address, even though I have lived here for more than 4 years and have no issues with any other company sending me mail. Eventually I asked to speak to a supervisor, who was still adamant my address didn't exist (despite also being a Vodaphone mobile customer). My address didn't exist when they did a google search, even though when I do a google search, remarkable it shows up!! My anger was huge by this point and I was screaming down the phone at how incompetent the company are and how it wasn't my problem their systems are crap. Bare in mind that this call had been going for 40 minutes, plus 20 minutes wait on hold, plus around another 20 minutes of hold time trying to get through on previous attempts, where the call had cut out before I had spoken to someone.
Eventually the supervisor put me through to a different department, for unknown reasons, where I had to explain the situation to some poor guy. He was perhaps the most useful and pleasant person I have ever dealt with at Vodaphone and man, there have been alot of calls. He checked my address and found it within seconds and the situation was rectified. I asked him, indeed pleaded with to tell me why he was able to do something, that two other people, including a 'supervisor' couldn't do!! He was at a loss for words and I think felt genuinely embarrassed.
This is a short hand 'family' version of the WORST interaction I have EVER had with a company. It took me hours to calm down after this. And don't get me started about the 80 minute long phonecall I had when I wanted to get an iphone or about the 50 minute phonecall where no-one could work out my wrongly charged bill, where I spoke to no less then 4 people. And then there's that god forsaken Lara voice automated service.
The worst customer service ever in the history of bad customer service.

I am with 3 now merged with Vodafone.
Hugely unimpressed with the fact we used to roamunder Telstra and since being bought out by Vodafone, me and my partner may aswell have no reception!
First of all, we weren't even informed there would be a merger, because if we were I sure wouldn't have had renewed my contract only weeks before it took place!
When i went into a store to ask about another new phone to replace the new one i had just got, i was met with "Oh it isprobably because of the merge to Vodafone....Oh, i wasn't meant to tell you that". Nice, the long trem customers weren't even kept in the loop, nor given the choice to leave at end of contract.
Secondly we have called 3/Vodafone and complained to some overseas, non-fluent english speaking person who didn't even understand us, to be told our reception is fine and also got quite angry towards my husband, nice customer service! And I'm sure they can really tell from looking at a computer that we have good or bad reception.
The phone had dropped out numerous times before my husband could even get that far as to speak to a real person.
I sure hope we can all just get some sort of service with this distorted company.

I have a pocket wifi modem which I have had for about two months, worked ok in Adelaide but absolute crap in Cairns. It says I am connected to the internet but I am unable to get on. What a joke!!! Have been able to reach customer service and they told me to take it to a Vodafone shop and see if I can get connection at the shop. Well of course it works there its in the CBD! Go outside of the CBD and it's just useless. The rare times that I manage to get a connection it's that slow and eventually will just hang there and drop out. I have 5 gig sitting there which I can't use. To my displeasure I have had to go to Bigpond to get the internet as we don't have access to a phone line. Come on Vodafone get your act together.
5513 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Rubbish at 27 Dec 2010 10:38:42 PM
I have been with vodafone for over 4 years now and only recently signed up to a 2 year contract (10 months ago) at first I had slight problems with my network in certain areas. Approx 6 mmonths ago I went overseas and put my phone on roaming for a few days. During that time I was unable to make calls or recieve any messages without switching my phone of and back on to recieve coverage for only 2 min. After I got back I tried to make it clear to customer service that there network did not provide me the service it promises and felt the need to be compensated, this however was ignored and in order to avoid the headache I paid the bill. Soon after that I was losing reception and calls were dropping out and to make matters worse I had no reception in my house at all. And it doesnt end there, to add to this failed promise of great service, calls would drop out and people would not be able to reach me as my phone was unavailable due to lack of reception.
I have spent numerous hours on the phone to customer service and at first my complaints were ignored. Infact on numerous ocassions whilst I was on the phone to Vodafone the call would drop out and yet that was not an enough excuse for them to assist me. Therefore I remained persistant and noted down any time I had no reception and anytime my calls would drop out. I was then told to get a sim change assuming that my new sim had a problem. So this was done anyway but the problem remained. eventually my network issues were investigated and in the mean time I made it clear that I would not be paying my bills untill I recieve the service promised by vodafone, I also asked to have my plan cancelled, however vodafone promised to have the network up and running properly again within the next month and that if this was not provided they would gladly cancel my plan. In the mean time, they credited me on my bills and I didnt pay 4 months worth of bills. Now they have credited me with $100 a month and I am expected to pay the difference even though the network problem is still there.

I've been with Vodafone nearly 10 years and always happy untill last few years. We went on a plan 3 months ago with my husband and ever since then, all calls were constantly droppong out and you couldnt hear the other person. i spent most my time walking around trying to get reception, we live in melbourne not in the country. Worst off all internet was so slow and past 4 days i've had no internet at all. we mainly got it as we have no internet in our new place and so we can do internet banling ect now i cant even pay bills... Constant errors appear and no internet coverage. my parents are really frustrated with the calls as well... We know a number of people who have had enough and i dont even wanna call customer service- its 2 hours waiting time plus transfered to the right dept and more waiting and in the end all i get is their having some dificulties and will be fixed soon... All load of crap- Most annoying LARA - half the time i have to call back cause she cant put me through the right people...

Every since 3 merged with Vodafone myself and my mum have been having problems with the phone continually dropping out, messages not being received by myself or others, the signal is terrible.
My last phone bill was huge due to having to keep re-calling people after the phone drops out; why should I have to pay for it.
My contract is up in a month I was told that 3 will be rebranded to vodafone. They are very persistent about me renewing my contract 3 different people calling me in the same day and even more phone calls over the past couple of weeks - I wish they would leave me alone! I think I will just go back to Telstra just wish they had better cap plans.
Im really over companies and there lack of customer service. Its all about the profits they can make!
Legal action is all they will listen too.
Also as far as im aware if they state you have reception in a certain area and then you dont this is enough to void your contract! A friend got out of their contract this way.

since joining 2 years ago we have had doubled up account billings, my partners first phone just died on him within 2 months they sent it to a repair centre but couldn't be fixed & then they made us payout the phone even though it wasn't our fault & then he got a new phone & then they started billing us for internet t.v on his phone when he wasn't even signed up for it, we rung the customer service & they were no help at all!! this went on for like 6 months where he was getting these rediculous bills for like $150 a month & the fukin joke was that we couldn't even access the internet on his phone!!! but getting billed for it! this all happened in 2009 & now my partner got the iphone3 in june this year & he broke the phone & they had to replace it with a new one that now has so many problems like taking 45 mins to connect onto the internet, no service & also i have tried to ring him 3 times this week & so have other people & a voice comes on saying that his phone is dissconnected, but then an 1/2 hour later u ring it again & it's working fine! How do u get that!!!! we r VERY UN HAPPY CUSTOMERS!!!! & WHEN MY PHONE CONTRACT COMES UP IN MARCH IM CHANGING TO TELSTRA. VODAFONE IS VODAFAIL!

I spoke to customer service last month and they treated me in such a patronising way. The call centre will do or say anything to make you go away.
Why would re-installing Windows on my Mac fix the connection problems with their USB dongle. I'm not stupid but I feel sorry for all the people that follow their instructions and waste hours of their day resetting phones and re-installing operating systems.

5482 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 10:23:34 PM
This was the worst experience I've ever had.
I decided I wanted a new Iphone 4.
So I go to a store in elsternwick because I wanted to make sure that the plan I signed up for would include the bonus data as advertised. After I saw the representative use the website to place an internet order, I realise going to the store was a giant waste of time and I should have done it at home. I notice the guy enter my details twice, apparently a double deal they had going. I questioned him asking "I think doing that will order me 2 phones, I only want one", He assured me only one was getting ordered. I left the store, completely in doubt. So I call the Online Orders line, and after a 40 minute hold, get through. I ask to confirm that my order was for only 1 phone. Of course, it was for 2, and I had to go through the process of explaining to the online rep that it was the store rep's fault for stuffing it up.
The store rep told me it would take a maximum of 2 weeks for me to receive my iphone, 2 months later, I receive a card in the mail telling me it is ready to be picked up at Melbourne Airport. One lengthy roadtrip later, I am holding my Iphone.
When I turn it one, the Sim isn't recognized. So I attempt to call Customer service on my then current optus prepaid. 70 minutes later, I run out of credit and the call drops.
At this point I'd like to mention that ever customer service call followed the SAME LARA prompts/answers. What would you like to do? "Activate my SIM". Please provide your mobile number? "I don't have a mobile number because you haven't given me one". I'm sorry, please repeat that.
In the end, I just yelled CONNECT ME THROUGH TO AN OPERATOR until it eventually did.
And then the Operator would ask what my mobile number is, and all I could answer was "I don't know because you haven't given me one yet". Always greeted with stunned silence.
The next day, I go to a Vodafone store centre telling them of my problem. They let me use their phone to call customer service. After talking to lara, I finally get through to rep, only to have the call drop after I answered their initial "what is your name" question.
So I call back, after another 50 minutes on hold, the same thing happens.
I ask the store rep what is going on, He shrugs and says "They are having trouble with the phone lines, I should just try again later"
Optimistic, I go home, to look up the next nearest store to me. I make my way there and ask to use their phone to sort out this mess. Another 2 tries later, a total of 60 minutes on hold, and 2 dropped calls as soon as I was connected to a representative. Again, I ask the store assistants what is going wrong and they quite rudely tell me to go home and try it later.
The next day, I decided to buy more credit for my prepaid phone, hoping they had sorted their phone issues out. After half an hour on hold, and then being dropped as soon as I got through. I gave up for the rest of the day.
The next day (friday), I went to my parent's house (as they have a phone line - I didn't), and at 0930, nice and early, I call up tech support. This time (after 20 minutes on hold of course), I don't get dropped. And tell the representative what is happening. After a lengthy explanation that they haven't given me a mobile number yet and I need my SIM activated (which at this point I find out, isn't usually needed), I am told it will be operational in 20 minutes.
At 3pm, I call back, same deal, it will be ready in an hour.
At 4pm, I call back, again, it will be ready in half an hour (Support closed at 5pm).
At 4:30pm, I call back, and am on hold until 4:59, At which point, I am answered, and then hung up on due to closing time.
That monday, I go back to a store, and tell em my problem, and that they should ring up as a staff member to sort this problem out. (I was assuming they had some sort of priority line to skip the customer service queue - this is untrue). Eventually, I am told that my Credit check failed and that I would not be able to get an Iphone.
You mean this Iphone right here? - as I showed him what I was holding.
A mate of mine applied for the same plan + iphone, and was rejected on credit check (for some bizarre reason, his credit was fine).
So now I'm confused as to why I have been rejected, and yet still sent this iphone. I'm just about fed up and ready to leave (can you blame me?) - resolving to keep the iphone, unlock it, and go with a better telco, when the store rep rings up again, and this time tells me...
That my driver's licence number was input wrong.
He inputs it, and in 5 minutes, I'm connected.
It only took 2 months overdue, and a week of hassling to get my new iphone working and operational.
But now I get to experience the constant call dropouts, Data interruptions, crappy reception and horrible customer service Vodafone has to offer!
When my contract is up, NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. NEVER AGAIN.

Now with Telstra it's bloody great & because i linked my home phone and my wife's mobile i can call between the 3 for free and get $10 off each cap per month. so $39 per month $450 worth of call you do the math Vodafone........

I love Vodafone, for the good deals they do, and good rates and everyone in my family and friend circle is on Vodafone or a branch of.
But the customer service is shit, and some of the staffers are quite rude, and alot of them are VERY hard to understand, and they don't seem to understand YOU.
But, I am getting SO sick of my phone dropping out mid conversation, not letting me call out saying "network busy" and having to wait for another like 10 mins before I can call, not getting voicemails, texts, and texts not sending and the like.
I've never before really had a problem, but, this has recently increased and it's getting very frustrating.
Especially when my boyfriend, who is in Scotland atm, stays up waits for my call and has to wait longer because we keep getting cut out or the "network is busy" or when he calls me and my "phone is off or out of range" when it is not.
Fix this Vodafone or lose a customer who has been with you for a LONG time and always praised you.

Half the time it tells me I am connected to the internet and but I am unable to get on. What a joke!!! 5458 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is getting worse at 27 Dec 2010 10:15:54 PM
I started off with Vodafone 10odd years ago and was always extremely happy with their service, as well as customer service. I got the mobile broadband when that came out due to needing to travel with work- 2gig a month costing $70. Was happy to pay as I didn't need to much- and the freedom of wireless internet was what I needed. I was told it would be 3G coverage within a month. 18months of constant calls with them, due to receiving internet speeds of 5kb/sec on a good day the speeds finally came up to a more desirable speed. Not once did I receive accurate information from them on when the speeds would come up- nor any compensation for only receiving 1/4 of what I was paying for. Couldn't do anything as I was on a 2year contract....
In the last year- mobile coverage has also been terrible from home. Despite being 1km away from the nearest station and being well inside their "3G" coverage zone. Dropouts would occur every call, even with 4 bars signal still showing.
I recently moved and was moving into an area that would have no signal- so contacted them to see what I could do with my contract which still had time left. Bouncing around 5 different "service" centers, and over an hour on the phone I was told there was no option but to stay on the contract or cancel it. Despite bringing up the terrible service over the past year, and my 10years loyalty with them did nothing so I told them to stick it and begrudgingly paid the $1000+ to rid myself of them for ever.
The last year I know of a good dozen or so with the same stories, and this site shows the scale of it. Good to see something to stick it to them with!

I signed up for a 3 service business contract. 2 of the supplied phones are useless, but local agent will not work with me as it is a business contract but the our 'business sales' rep will not answer sms's, emails or phone calls. Once you are signed up, they are no longer interested in you.
We regularly have clients saying they can't contact us. I have stood beside one of our other phones, dialed the number and been told the number is unavailable. Its no wonder our clients connot contact us. It's not we who are not available, merely Vodaphone's system not forwarding the call. We sometimes get a 'missed call' notification, but the phone never rang (it wasn't on silent either).

I signed with Vodafone almost 3 years ago and in that time have had limited reception or no reception at all. I now live 20km from Melbourne CBD and cant get reception at the rear of my house so to use my phone i must stand out the front of my house or else it will drop out. I was promised with my $79 cap oner $550 worth of credit im still only getting $550, as a result earlier in the year i ran over my cap as i was not getting the correct value. I received a bill of over $250 3 or 4 times, it took months of hounding Vodafone through their stupid customer service menu (with the stupid automated LARA) to get them to acknowledge their wrong, it then took another month or so of arguing with people that told me i was wrong before i got them to admit their wrong again and then to get compensated for the bill that i had gone over. No coverage, No Customer Service, Stuff ups on their behalf that cost customers money, im going to Optus and advising anyone i know not to even consider Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 10:21:29 PM: you know they charge GST within the cap? i had a similar problem, and eventually one guy was human enough to talk to me, he said that even though you are told you have $550 worth of credit, if you use more than $495 you're charged over your cap because that remaining $55 is GST? Wouldnt that be nice to know in advance? I figure its a way for them to screw us for more money because if we dont know then we're more likely to spend above our cap allowance. How F'd is that!!

I managed to get out of my new contract with this crap company, as when I attempted to port in, and was told 'within 3 hours', and my number was still with my previous provider 4 days later, I think I embarrassed them into agreeing to acceptthe Iphone back via return post(at their cost, and I think I was extremely lucky to get out of it. In the sense that Vodafone suck, and I'm lucky not to be with them. Equal fail for not even being able to connect within a decent timeframe, and for poor customer service by continually lying about what they have committed to when they fail to meet those commitments.

I signed a mobile broadband contract for 12 months. And it's now the fourth month. The signal is so weak and I still have to pay 39 dollars per month. If I quit the contract, they would charge me 20 dollars times the rest months in the contract. I really have a difficulty to make the choice. I am an international student. The internet is the only method I can use to contact my girl friend and my parents in Shanghai. What can I do right now. Quit to pay more or stay in the poor services?

Thankfully I finally managed to speak to someone! After weeks of the same on hold music and literally hours each day being passed around or hung up on by the Vodafone customer service people and two complaints to the TIO I actually spoke to someone who took me seriously. My favourite line was one man who said only "Thanks for calling Vodafone" before he hung up. But my main problem has now been sorted: I am now 'authorised' to access my own voicemail and make outgoing calls, the contract that took two weeks to be installed has gone through so I now have an operating phone - only to realise that the network service is so terrible I can only make one call in every three. I am plagued by the message 'call fail'. Or by my calls cutting out.
Simply not good enough. I hate the fact that I signed up for two years of this crap. Why oh why did I do it?
Please, wont the telephone God smite Vodafone for me? Well, I guess they're doing a good enough job of that themselves.

Customer service at the call centre for mobile internet is really, really bad - as I need to speak to someone because I can't get access to the web-site to self diagnose my problems. Was told that their service starts at 8am and when I call at 7.55 amm was put on hold until 7.30am and still no one available - have to hang up. Got good service with the store personnel at Riverlink though - thanks to them, very helpful.

I have only been a vodafone customer for 3 weeks and in that 3 weeks i have contacted vodafone customer service centre in INDIA 16 times, I am not a racist by any means but i ask for them to speak slower so i can understnad them they get cranky at me and start yelling and talking faster. i was on hold last week for 4.5 hours i was so frustrated when they finally answered. When i left my number for them to call me back "with in 12-16 mins" more than 3 hours later i got a call from them. My phone cuts out all the time and turns itself on and off, i have complained and they told me that there is no service issues and as i am a new customer i will have to pay out my contract. I'm furious. I have a girlfriend who works for vodafone store and she is a telstra customer because she hates their service and she is one of there employees
27 Dec 2010 10:17:29 PM: I had problems with my phone turning on and off all the time - took it into a vodafone shop because phone support is shit - after going back 3 times they replaced my phone even though I was in contract and it didn't cost me anything - now have new phone which is better than my old one. Might be worth trying that.

I was talking to a vodafone, no, 3! staff member earlier for approximately 1 hour (including half hour on hold) trying to sort a few things out on my bill.
I applied for a $39 month to month broadband plan, it was a special offer emailed to me, they put me on and billed me $49 a month.
Also I did not receive my dongle until the 13th of December and was charged from the 30th of November!
The staff member had to put me on hold while he went to ask what a dongle was?
I phoned around the 12th of December to advise I had not received it and was told not to worry, I would not be charged. How was I to know it had been delivered to the Post Office when no notification was left to tell me? My contract stated that it would be delivered to my door and I would have to show I.D and sign.
The staff member could not explain to me what my volume limit was. It says I have passed this everytime I connect. He then put me through to a closed department.
I did not ask for my mobile to be put on the same bill. It has never been direct debited before as the broadband is nor did I give permission.
I am not happy with the signal either, I only get poor service, one bar only.
I have also been annoyed that my prepaid mobile was cancelled without advising me first.
I will consider cancelling my phone plan when it expires in February also but lets hope conditions improve.

Seems like the same problems all over WA. I too have had the same problems. I have emailed Vodafone and they informed me that they have had issues and they are now fixed. I told them that i want to be released from my contract as they have not held up there part of the contract. All i got is they want me to contact their customer service and discuss it with some stooge in another country. I told them hell no and to cancel my contract. Now i must pay the remainder of my contract to be let out. I told them that is rubbish and to call me. That was 5 days ago.
Im sick of having that stupid message pop up, only 1 bar of service in full coverage area's and my phone taking way to long to load pages/updates.

5357 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Apalling Service at 27 Dec 2010 09:47:50 PM
I joined Vodafone about 2 years ago and have hardly used any of my calls usage because I have hardly had any coverage. Also, if I did manage to call out or receive a phonecall, it would drop out. The first time I rang Vodafone customer service I was advised to take my simcard out and re-insert it. When I did that, I had full coverage. This worked well for a couple of days and then the same problems again. I rang Vodafone customer service again and was rudely informed that I had already called them about the problem and to try the same method again.
This made me angry and I went into the shop to cancel my Phone plan.I was told that it could be a handset problem so I "upgraded" to a new handset. Now already into my 12 month of my 2nd 24 month contract(which I regret), I have minimum coverage and have wasted my money on a bogus substandard service.
Also, I can't acess my data pack which I pay $10 monthly. More money down the drain. Nobody calls my number anymore because they never reach me.

Vodaphone have useless customer service, and I am SICK AND TIRED of my reception CONTINUOUSLY dropping out. It comes and goes, and you're stuffed if a plane flies over. Which is a shame considering I live in Turramurra. Even at the peak on Rohini street in Turramurra, the phone will just lose signal and then miraculously it will reappear. It isn't the handset, the Nokia N97 and various other mobiles I try all have the same problem.
So happy to see someone finally taking a stand. Good work, there are thousands of people behind you!
Nick.

5342 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:38 PM
I recently switched to vodafone from optus because they had a good deal on one of the phone model which i was after. Within weeks i realised i made a very big blunder by choosing that awful network. My phone sows that there is no network coverage in most of places like my home (which is really annoying), in my suburb (In Point cook) and even in shopping centre. Signal strength is not even low i would say but is zero. Tried calling customer service and waited for hours and hours but ended only in vain. In whole, whenever i am in need of phone all i have got is only a mobile with no network coverage. Damn vodafone.

After moving across from the terrible customer service I'd been having from Telstra, I looked forward to the 'exceptional coverage' and great customer service promised to me by Vodafone. Couldn't be further from the truth! Between no signal 3km from the city, countless calls dropping out (and having to incur charges to call them back!), voicemail arriving days after it was first left, intermittent signal (often only 1 bar on my iphone in the middle of the city) and waiting 40 minutes on hold to call vodafone technical support and giving up. How the heck am I meant to rectify the issue if their staff are out of reach? The game's over Vodafone, how about you meet me halway and actually PROVIDE ME THE SERVICE YOU KEEP SLUGGING ME FOR EACH MONTH????

5307 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 09:29:28 PM
I live in the CBD (melbourne) and have half strength signal most of the time, with daily drop-outs, and voice delays...having alot of missed txt messages or receiving a sms up to 3 hours later, I decided to test the service.. sitting in the same room with another vodafone user, we txted to see how long the sms would take to arrive... it took on average 7 minutes with one turning up the following day...what the F ?????? their service has only got worse since merging with 3... I have a 3 mobile broadband service, which is the biggest rip-off, never reaches the speeds its advertised to be able to do...more like dial up speeds most of the time, also they have a trick where they tell you that your data allowance has been used up, and to purchase more, I log in my user account to view how much data I have left (as I do often) but mysteriously that service doesn't show up, so believing im out off data, I buy more, once bought, my user account updates showing me that I have more data than I just bought,(sometime up to 750MB extra) meaning I was never out of data in the first place... tricking me into buy more. I even had this happen a few hours after buying 2Gb of data, I hadn't even used the internet within that time, customer service keeps telling me that there is no problems with their service, and that I can always view how much data I have left via my user account online ... who are they kidding. vodafone and 3 (both being the same network) will never have my business again. off to Telstra I go !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Forget about the reception or call drops or for that matter nething. The customer service people of Vodafone even abuse u. I no longer live in sydney however Vodafone is a worldwide company so it seems to be obvious that they do teach their employees about basic ethics of being on a Phone with a customer. Fortunately i recorded the entire conversation while i was being abused and when i called back again to speak to a manager i was repeatedly disconnected. After several attempts i was finally able to talk to some1, and xpressed my concern to which i was promised a call bak by a manager, which still has'nt happened in the last 2weeks. Adding to my dismay they have now disconnected my Fone number which i have been using for the last 12years.

Came over to vfone from telstra. Was talked into buying a Nokia N97 over an iphone and a more expensive Nokia, that was the first problem. Little did i know at the time the N97 was and still is one of the most repaired, replaced and returned phones. It was a lemon from new. After trying to return it at Epping and South Morang vfone stores (as they said any problem with the phone within the first 3 months they would accept it back and give me a new one), they kept telling me to wait for the software update that would fix everything. This phrase became the norm for the next few months, there was an update for the phone just about every month. They only accepted it back for repair when the phone got hot and actually died, even then they tried to refuse it back because they had no loan phones. The new phone they gave me was just as much a piece of shit as the last, software glitching, freezing, turning off, taking photos on its own, etc. Now thats just the problems with customer service and the phone, now to the network. I work in Fairfield in Melbourne, close suburb to the CBD. Never did I have trouble with service there with telstra, I am lucky to have 2 or 3 bars of reception at the most at my workplace, inside or outside. I constantly have no internet access even when I have full reception on my phone, phone calls drop out and say connection error, sms will not send for no reason, and worst of all being on hold forever to find out what is going on is a joke. So I emailed a complaint, and just got handballed back to the retail stores who plain don't care either. I am so pissed for going to vodafone, I would have been better off using two tin cans and a length of string to communicate with people.

Poor coverage. Have been on vodafail for a while. Have been on contract for quite some time i am just over complaining i have seriously heard a goat (i am not kidding) well it seriously sounded like one in the backround when trying to enquire.
For starters I went to vodafone on a plan about a year ago and was told 'i could get up to date balances on how much has been spent on my plan' that was the reason i went to a plan. Blatant false advertising. I found out when my mobile bill was excessive. depending who i talked to at the vodafone shops or over the phone enquiries all different answers. Even checked the website which stated that up to date balances could be checked.
After a week and a half of getting no where with customer service, was talking to the manager of the section i was calling and we were on a first name basis. got absolutely no where my bill was changing consistently every couple of days.
I had the problem resolved by calling a highly unpromoted number... The vodafone resolution team, i actually talked to someone in Australia, they read my file and fixed it quickly. But still wasted heaps of time. And if you look closely at the terms and conditions which you have to agree to it states;
INDEMNITY
You must indemnify and hold harmless Vodafone or its employees contractors
and agents and keep them indemnified, against all loss, actions,
proceedings, costs, expenses (including legal fees), claims and damages
arising from:
(a) any breach by you of these terms; or
(b) reliance by you on any information obtained through Myvodafone.com.au
'extract from vodafone website june 2009'
Meaning they can lie to us or give us misleading information, nice...
it might be worded differently now.
Now onto the present. In the shop it clearly states that i have coverage where i live and good coverage. Well in the real world its almost non-existent. While adding to consistent drop outs along the F3 freeway. At least 3 times in 15km. This is just on the Central Coast, One is between Tuggerah and Ourimbah, the other Near the top of the Ourimbah hill and another is not only between Ourimbah and Gosford exits but also right before the gosford exit.
But my advice to anyone having problems lodge a complaint and get the reference number then contact the TIO

I use Vodafone for internet. The connection speed is very poor all the time. I am unable to connect to the internet at most times. They include data uploaded/sent as part of the usage amount. They only should include data we download as part of our usage. A month ago there was no coverage for internet for 2 days.
When I call customer service, I end up speaking to an Automatic Lara who can't understand my voice no matter how clearly I speak. After having to deal with Lara, I then have to put up with a service representative at a call centre in India who is worse than Lara.

After about 3 months of our usb internet not working properly and ringing Vodafone multiple times and them blaming it on my computer or repaires and also Vodafone replacing my USB and sim card we are still having problems cancelling our contract. I'm sick of ringing up the call centre being on hold for about 30 minutes at a time (I have a life) and then when speaking to someone they cant do crap to help me or I can't understand them. I even tried to ring the head office (in Sydney) to complain and they ended up putting me back through to India again!!! All I want to do now is cancel my contract, but they wont just do this as they have to do an investigation on why its not working (if it frigin worked then I wouldnt want to cancel it). I'm so sick of their recpetion and customer service, they dont help crap and blame it on the customer saying it's their problem. Very much over it now, going through the investigation at the moment and they will most likely turn around and say I have to pay the cancelation fee as they will say it's working like they do every other time. I have put in a complaint to TIO, so hopefully something will be done to improve their shit service!!!! Something needs to be done!!!!
27 Dec 2010 09:30:43 PM: I have had a similar frustrating experience trying to cancel my contract. Try to wait and hear Lara give you the optin for cancelling your contract - yeah right! the voice recognition systenm is useless to me anyway - all is does is pick up the noise of my kids in the background - when I spoke to someone eventually, they said to ring when my kids weren;t around - how helpful! i have been trying to cancel my account with them, but a) i am always onhold for hours b)the cancellation team isn't in and will need to ring me back c)if I stay they will give me a free phone, which only ends up being the deals offered to the ordinary public, not a special deal for me and d)they say they need to ring me back to cancel my account - that's their procedure. My procedure is: I ring you, tell you to close my account, end of story.
The website is useless and when you try to ask a question, it gives you an automated response back, after this you get an automated email. Upon responding to this, another automated email. Does anyone real, other than the 3 persons they have sitting in India, work for Vodafone???? It's a pity, I had been a customer for 13 years...

I have a 24 month plan with Vodafone for both my mobile phone and internet (a USB). My phone contract is due to run out now in 4 weeks (thank goodness) but I have had on going issues with signal, service and mostly customer service. I rang Customer service on numerous occasions about my issues with coverage and a billing enquiry and was on hold for ever.
Coverage for my internet at my house is shocking, despite being told by vodafone (and showed a coverage map) that internet coverage in my area was really good. (there is also a vodafone store less than 3 kms from my house, so why are they selling internet when it doesnt work more than 3km from their shop!), Again I rang Customer Service about the issue, was on hold nearly 40 mins and then spoke to someone who barely understood a word I said and then kept trying to transfer me through to another department before even hearing the reason why I had rang. When I asked how long I had left on my contracts I got the 3rd degree and eventually told. He then insisted on transferring me through to another area which he ASSURED me could help me with my problem right now. I got transferred to a pre-recorded msg "This department is currently closed" and then I got disconnected.
So.... I went in to see someone at the shop. The girl I spoke to said "well, you only have your internet contract until January 22nd with Vodafone, so if you just put up with it until then you can change after that" This is really annoying, customers shouldnt have to 'put up with it' until the end of the contract, it should be resolved, regardless of how much is left on the contract. I have 6 months left with my mobile phone and I am NOT HAPPY!!

5197 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Supercrap at 27 Dec 2010 08:54:45 PM
Vodafone mobile broadband connection is terrible. There had been a long strings of incident since I sign up with Vodafone back in March. All involving the same problem: I couldn't access the internet even when the coverage is saying "very good". First sign of trouble was not long after I signed up in Sydney. There wasn't a connection for 3 days. Took the USB back to the shop, thinking it was a hardware problem. To cut the story short, it turned out to be Vodafone's problem, something to do with "technical problem at Vodafone network". Service went back to "normal" (= slow, but working) afterwards.
I moved to Cairns in April and took the mobile broadband with me. Most of the time the connection is slow, which turn to super slow after 5pm, even when it's on 3G/HSUPA, connection dropped off frequently.
The next incident happened some months later. Couldn't access the internet for about 3 days again. Rang customer service, there was a recorded message saying that Vodafone was having some networks problems in some parts of Australia.
The latest incident was on Nov 31st - 3rd Dec. Rang their customer service which was obviously being outsourced to call centres in India. Spoke to VERY rude Indians who kept on saying there wasn't any problem, they kept on trying to shift the blame to my computer/other things even though after some "diagnosis" it was obvious it was their problem. They insisted that I was the only one in Australia who made a complaint to them! When I demanded to speak to a manager/supervisor, one of them cockily said "I'm THE most authority, you can't speak to anyone higher than me". The cheek of it, I'm sure he doesn't own the company, he doesn't even live in Australia!
I persisted and kept on ringing them. In total I spent 2hr 51mins 27 secs on the phone with them, mostly being put on hold, before they finally gave me an "escallation reference number" to investigate my complaints. Good thing I have a spare Vodafone SIM card, otherwise I would have spent a bomb ringing them from my Optus mobile phone as I don't have a landline. Every single time I rang time, they kept me waiting for at least 20-40mins. before I could speak to a REAL person.
Afterwards I lodged a complaint through Vodafone's website, about the appalling rudeness of their customer service (what "service"?!), telling them that I'm not going to pay for a service I didn't get - why should I pay for my broadband subscription if Vodafone isn't providing what they're obligated to fulfil in a contract (= a broadband service). After some email exchanges, they agreed to waive my subscription rate for the month. It's the first time I kicked up a big fuss about it and I think I should have kicked up a big fuss at other times, too. Afterall, a contract binds not only a customer, Vodafone is also bound to deliver the service I've signed up to!!!
I'm glad I'm not "the only one in Australia" who aren't happy with Vodafone. Bring the job back to Australia, those Indians didn't even know how to treat a customer respectfully.

I have spent two hours on hold to their customer service number, i had to hang up because the phone i was on ran out of battery. I had everything i was going to say and every record i had right in front of me, but no, it never happened because no one could be bothered to pick up the phone....and they're a phone company. BIGGEST JOKE. This was after i'd been in-store. Even the guy behind the counter warned me what i was in for.
They are charging me for a phone i have not used... and the bill is growing even without use. They claim it's a time delay, but why after six days of being switched off is it still adding on costs? Shouldn't they just do it at once and be done with it? Of course not, that is the LOGICAL thing to do.They are also showing me i have an unpaid bill. i have a receipt and over a week later apparently i still owe.
Vodafone struggles to provide decent coverage....anywhere!
The picture messages i send wake my contacts in the middle of the night over 24 hours after they were originally sent. Aren't I popular the next day? Thanks Vodafone. To receive messages, i have to actually send individual messages to each contact before i get just one that could have been sent hours ago.It takes ten minutes to open a single page on my iphone due to the little "Searching" in the corner that makes me want to throw my phone at the wall.
The 24 month contract is more expensive than one for a new iphone 4... and i'm receiving less for my money. Their three months early exit offer is clearly not enough, make it three months into the contract and they've got themselves a deal.
Their "spend and entitlements" page does not update, or does so very slowly ensuring their "valued" customers have exceeded their plan and then still tell them they can text their little heart out.
All in all, what can i say...
Will i be going back? Certainly not.

I am in the process of working with debt collectors regarding a vodafone bill. I didnt recieve my first iphone bill for 2 months, despite calling them 3 times asking for my bill which of course takes hours because the call wait line is endless and the customer service reps incompetant. I then had my iphone stolen and when i called them was told i could get a new one which i could pay off over 6 months. I then recieved a $3000!!!!!!! bill for 3 months worth of charges (what the hell?? I was on a $79 dollar per month contract) and the new iphone which was to be paid within 2 weeks. Goodbye good credit rating, hello years of terrible service and no help. Im so happy this has been started, i thought it was just me! Its about time these big corporations were held accountable! The best part is that i cannot now switch service providers because of my credit rating

I have been with vodafone for the past years and in the past year and a half have experienced more problems with them then i ever have. Dropping my calls out, not sending my messages, constanly loosing my reception, its just so unrealiable. worst if u wnat something done about it it takes u hours to be connected to a real person and when u finally do they either dont understand u are rude or hang up on u.... so many problems not just with the reception but even with horrible customer service....

I have spent HOURS on the phone to Vodafone in the last 2 months about the amount of call dropouts and poor coverage with my iphone. Last Saturday, a fellow from Vodafone phoned me and said the problem is a network issue and Vodafone will let me out of the contract if that's what I want. I told him that's what I want. He said I had to phone the store where I bought the phone to organise the disconnection including the return of the iphone handset. I phoned the store and they said only Vodafone deal with this issue and I have to phone Vodafone back. Since then, I have spent HOURS on the phone to Vodafone, on hold yet again. The last I heard was last Monday when Vodafone said they would phone me back in 24 to 72 hours to arrange for my disconnection. That call didn't arrive until today. The phone rang twice. I answered it and as soon as I did, the phone dropped out. What a surprise... not. Then I got an SMS from Vodafone saying they have tried to call me and I didn't answer my phone so phone on 1555 for further queries about my complaint. I phoned 1555 and was on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up. I then phoned their 1300 number and was on hold for another 25 minutes. I hung up.
HOW PATHETIC VODAFONE. NOT ONLY IS THEIR NETWORK TOTAL CRAP... BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TOTALLY, TOTALLY NON-EXISTANT. I am totally, totally sick of Vadafone. And I am totally sick of being on hold to them trying to get my contract cancelled.
I SIGNED UP IN OCTOBER 2010 AND I AM SO OVER VODAFONE!!!

I'm a sales rep, so i need to be on the phone alot, but it's hard when your making a call, and for no reason the call drops out, with full signal strength, WTF, and trying to use the internet, i spend more time waiting for a page to load it's a joke, ans the other week i found out that i haven't been able to receive any picture msg, when i rang vodafail, i was on the phone for 2 hours, they did fix the problem, it wasn't the phone, it was something on there end, so thanks Vodafail for all the messages i have missed. And now to missed calls and voicemail, sometime my phone doesn't ring, and about 30 mins later i find out i have 3-4 missed calls, one hour later i have the voicemail arrives, sorry but thats to long. Why is it when i call to complain i can't talk anyone in Australia, the people from overseas are rude, and they try to make you feel like you are lying about your problem, or they rush you, the fact you just spent 30 mins on hold, your pissed off, because the same thing keeps happening, these people in the call centres, need to learn, 1) how to speak english 2) how to be understand what we Vodafail customer are going thur 4) how to fix the problem quickly.

Went into a v/f store a few weeks ago to enquire as to why I was not receiving a voicemail message.... The store calls customer care, they advise that the problem is all fixed. Fixed as in - they changed my plan, took all my credit (I recharged a $79 flexicap voucher 7 days ago) and when I called back (on hold for 45 mins), I was told that I had called and changed the plan according to the notes. WTF?
Look, I know its hard making millions of dollars ripping off people, but seriously, I have better things to do then spend hours on hold to an offshore call centre who seriously lacks any form of customer service standards.
I amazingly got through once to a pom who lives in Mumbai... I bet he gets no complaints at all... People would seriously be happy to speak to someone who has a good comand of the english language.
Pick up your act Vodafone, or Im seriously taking my business elsewhere.

I live in Eltham, Victoria. About 5 days ago, Vodafone 3g in the centre of town stopped working. Still not working. The signal shows full strength but you can't make a call or send a txt. I discovered the only way to make a call is to turn off 3g on my Iphone and it uses the 2 g Network. Also, I've not been able to send emails via 3G network anywhere for months. They leave my out box but never get to the recipient. Rang Customer service and got disconnected before I could speak to a real person. Something seriously wrong.

Never receive voicemails, text messages come through delayed, having to constantly restart my phone to use data, calls constantly drop out, people can never get through to me and their customer service is just as pathetic as the network itself.
I have come to an agreement to cancel my contract with them (6 months left) without a charge, but they want me to pay off the balance of the phone still. I'm reluctant to pay this considering the trouble I have been through.
Funny thing is, I cannot end this issue as it it now impossible to get through and talk to someone.

Now that I have your attention,
Vodafone is excellent in the field of - appalling...
Honest to god I have spent more than 24 hours of my time to customer service having issues unresolved.
I have missed job interviews, meetings with friends and given my stress levels a good kick start.
Billing issues with the USB internet, poor customer service (so much so that they blamed me for the faulty device), extended periods of time taken to correct errors made on behalf of customer service reps, it goes on and on
I also think the merge with 3 has made vodafone coverage astronomically worse.
People with control need to fix the endless problems that is Vodafone Customer Service.
I wish the people behind this class action all the best.

I tried to call to cancel my mobile broadband When I finally got to speak to someone, I was told they couldn't look up my account with my name and address. I was going to complain, then I got hung up on. I called again with the SIM number and was on hold again, so I left my number to get someone to call me back. I finally spoke to someone who went through all my details, and then told me I had to speak to the cancellations department. I was put on hold for another 55 minutes, waiting to speak to the right department. When I finally got through I had to repeat everything again and then dodge repeated attempts to get me to stay with Vodafone. How about no.
27 Dec 2010 08:32:52 PM: Forgot to mention, cancelled mobile broadband because despite living in Fitzroy on the edge of Melbourne's CBD the reception was so bad I couldn't open emails except at like 2.30am (except on weekends when the network was busy then too). TERRIBLE.

5069 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Who else hates Lara???? at 27 Dec 2010 08:16:01 PM
I'm amazed at the decline in standards from Vodafone over the years. I joined 7 years ago on the old 'No Plans' and was always really happy - great customer service, reasonable coverage, good deals, competitive prices, and I used to get a present from them every year for my loyalty. I've since gone on to have capped plans for my phone and mobile broadband in the last 3 years, and don't have too many good things to say about the company anymore.
I get reasonable service on my mobile, but mobile broadband is a bit of a joke. Coverage is VERY limited - I've never had more than 2 bars or 'Poor' service. Not to mention it recently dropped out completely for about a fortnight. Right before exams. Thanks. The same thing happened to several of my friends at the same time.
The worst thing though is the customer service. I've never gotten through to the right person/department straight away when calling, and I've often had to call multiple numbers. Setting up my mobile broadband, I kept getting told the number I had called wasn't correct - despite using the number that was in the setup instruction booklet, or calling the number that the previous operator had told me to call.
Recently trying to upgrade my plan, I actually yelled at an operator. Not intentionally, but I let out a loud, stern "NO!" when the person that I had been transferred to to change the plan attempted to transfer me back to the department I had just been transferred from.
In another instance, when trying to find out what was going on with a mobile broadband error, I spent 20mins on the phone, just to have the operator repeat my problem back at me and tell me that myvodafone.com wasn't working. Which I had also mentioned to him (and which it pretty much never is anyway...)
These things are frustrating, inconvenient, and a waste of all of our time. I don't mind being put on hold or transferred if my problems are going to be fixed! I think vodafone customer service suffers from a severe case of micro-management - no one person ever seems to think the customer's problem or issue is their responsibility!
Grrr vodafone. Grrr.

Live in Perth - several places in the metro area do not have coverage, including friends' houses. I don't mind if remote country areas have bad coverage, but anybody would think that a metro area and and area shown with coverage in their maps should have at least a signal! Called Vodafone about problem, waited 2.5 hours, and was passed between 4 different customer service officers. They refused to allow me to cancel my contract. They merely moved me to a lower plan, saying that they would not allow me to exit my contract freely, because my house had coverage. That's ludicrous - a mobile phone should be able to be used anywhere where coverage has been shown!

Can't view my postpaid bills because website says my number is not registered with them! I've been logging in for one year and now suddenly it doesn't work! Why do I have to pay if I can't even view my bill? Customer service hanged up on me twice, after thirty minutes of being "on hold". I have an iPhone 3GS. Voicemail display service no longer works (used to list my voicemails on iPhone). My voicemails don't come through until at least a few hours later or even days later! Time on voicemail also wrong. I also experience call drop outs even when I may in populated suburbs/areas. I can't always call people - says "call failed" - even though the person I am calling has good reception. At my work, people on certain other networks have reception - not me. I have to quit Vodafone asap!

All of last week I couldn't make any calls or sms out nor could I receive any of them. I keep dropping out of internet coverage (if I'm lucky to get any). And when I tried calling their customer service to ask if they have any issues, I was simply told that they have not received the memo or notification. I was also locked out of my online account for using the correct password and answering my secret question correctly!

VIP customer service consultant OM, said that his system is down, and he will call back. This was on the 18th of December 2010. 5040 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Utterly Fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:10:23 PM
My partner and I are both with Vodafone and have been with them for the better part of 2 years now. Not only do we get no receptions whereas other mates with other providers have no problems, we receive messages sometimes a day late and same goes for our voice-mail as well. There was an instance for a whole week straight, I was unable to use my phone with no apparent reason. Thinking it may be my phone, I had to contact and speak to multiple departments within Vodafone's so called 'customer service' and after close to 45 minutes of being passed around, I was told to simply 'switch off your phone and let it rest for a while' and the second advise was 'if this still does not work, you may need to bring your phone into vodafone'. So not until I heard from our unhappy and dissatisfied customers complain did I realize it wasn't a hand-set issue but Vodafone's non-existent network!!! Bring on the class action I say.

I am not with voda any more, the phone coverage was inadequate, I told them mant times that the call drops out, they said we are making improvment, but it was still the same. The service got worst, their customer service was always busy and long wait for support. I wanted compensation for the bad service, that did not happen, so I refused to pay my bill, so they put me on bad credit, I did pay up , but I paid $300 to much, and they still have not returned the 300 to me.I work for a carrier, sometimes I feel like pulling the plug and thus making their network go down completetly, but I don't want toget into trouble.

5004 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The most appalling phone carrier at 27 Dec 2010 08:02:13 PM
Vodafone fails on so many levels. Customer service (or lack there of) I am not sure why vodafone thinks their customers have endless amounts of time to sit on hold to the custer care number, and if you choose to email Vodafone rather than wate time you don't have on hold to them, there is a zero chance that they will resolve your issue by email. And the continuous drop outs of calls which is so infuriating, and extremely unprofessional when your on a business to call to have to call back often times more than once, the inability of apps to load and work makes makes it almost worthless having a smart phone. I can't send emails from my iPhone since October and Vodafone have still not rectified the issue. I look forwarbto my contract ending so I can switch to a better service provider.

5001 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is irritating!! at 27 Dec 2010 08:01:43 PM
I was trying to ignore it but I find out later that MMS that are sent to me can either arrive up to 12 hours late or not at all, but other people that they are sent to receive them. I also find that calls often drop out even though I am stationary when on these calls. When I am not using my home wireless internet the vodafone 'internet' is soooooo slow. I moved from 3 to vodafone because my 3 contract was up and the only way I could get an iphone 4 without having to wait for ages was from vodafone and then the iphone was sent to me. I figured that as 3 and vodafone were merging that they might be a good company to deal with - unfounded optimism! I have had a heap of trouble with Telstra too when trying to change my husband's mobile from business plan to a private cap but have now solved that. I think that all of the major telcos are an absolute disgrace as they don't have customer service and they don't care. They must be making a heap of profit and so figure that they don't have to try to offer a service to their customers. I think if I could I would ditch vodafone and go to telstra as they now have competitive caps and heaps better network coverage but of course they don't offer customer service.
29 Dec 2010 08:01:04 PM: i did ditch my contracts my add is posted after yours and i went to the telecommunications ombudsmand they can really help you. look them up in the white pages.towards the front where they have complaints cheers. im now with telstra and will never change again.

My mess is too long to write about but in short I have changed telco's as I am totally sick of vodafone & their complete contempt for their customers.
The problem I had revolved around a new phone that did not arrive so I requested a refund but Vodafone said I did not order one despite the money being taken from my C/C. After more than 10 hours total on the phone to a customer service person in India I handed the whole lot over to the Ombudsman & had my refund within 10 days. Vodafone offered me $100 credit as compensation but this was in the form of "extras" on my pre-paid account that I dont use anymore.
I will NEVER use Vodafone again nor will I recommend them to anybody in fact I would activley discourage anybody from using Vodafone if for no other reason than their complete lack of customer service.
I have dealt with a lot of companies in my life but Vodafone is the WORST for customer service & Lara is a complete waste of space!!
Years ago I was with Hutchinson Communications (crap) then with Orange (still crap) then with 3 (reasonable) & for anybody that dosent know they are all the same company rebadged each time. Vodafone bought Hutchinson (3) & now they are on the Vodafone network (complete & utter CRAP).

I complained at my store about the sudden failure of my wireless USB broadband and after the usual "oh it must be your computer settings" blame-the-customer game, the store manager finally confessed that it was Vodafone's infrastructure not being set up to cope with the demand and it was causing service failure all over the place. Meanwhile, they were happily signing up new customers in the store. I had to go and buy a Telstra prepaid unit just to keep my business running. I am stuck in a contract until May 2011 with my phone and also suffer the dropouts, the texts/pxts that arrive hours or even days after sending. Unable to get through to customer service of course - you get runaround the menu and then put on hold forever. They just do what they want, and it's the consumers' job to be the police.

Not only do they have the poorest reception, they have the worst customer service! I finished my 2-year contract with them in July of this year and I wanted out - due to the poor reception mind you. It took me 3 months (still had to pay for those months even when I was not using their service anymore) and a min of 30 min (each time I called which was 8 times) waiting on the phone for a rep to answer and be transfered to the 'cancellation' dept. only to find out they were all "busy" and would give me a call back..of course they did not bother to call back...so there! Will not touch Voda again even with a ten foot pole!

Been in nsw for about 2months now. joined vodafone au since new zealands vodafone is very successfull . never experience a communications company so bad with their service. wanted to buy a iphone through the vodafone shop they asked me to ring customer service to get one WTF. Rang customer service takes about 30mins to connect then when it finally connects no reception. Knowing if the phone discconnects you would think they would have to service to ring you back . Lucky im not on a plan.

I am a customer of 3 (unfortunately) and ever since they have merge with the dark side (vodafone) I have had nothing but problems calls not going through, when you make a call, there is poor call reception and one occassion I had a call drop out 5 times when it was a very important call
The mobile broadband should be named mobile dial up with the speeds it produces.
I honestly cant wait for my contract to run out so these low lifes cant get a single cent off me again, the customer service is disgraceful and would love to get compensation for the crap I have to endure every day.

27 Dec 2010 07:55:35 PM: Yes I do agree with this. You know how they charge you all the time when your call got connected? So everytime the call got cut off, and you have to redial them again. You have to pay for all of those fee. That seems unfair.
