Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Ordered new mobile phone on plan online on 9/12. Received handset 13/12 and found to be faulty. Rang 14/12 after 1 3/4 hours I was told that a new handset would be sent to me within 10 days and a bag will be enclosed so that I could return the faulty handset. Rang today to find out when I might expect it. After 1 1/2 hours told that they had no record of that arrangement on file and that I should take it to my local Vodafone shop (which I had been told on the 14/12 that I couldnt do) Took to my local Vodafone shop and they were on hold for 2 hours trying to sort it out for me and then got hung up on. The lovely staff at Vodafone Shop are trying to sort out for me. Never buy online ever again!

I have had "limited service" displayed on my phone constantly since November 2010. It is to the point now that I may as well leave my phone at home when I go out because I cant use it anyway. I have contacted them via email because I work business hours and I am sick of sitting on hold all night only to get disconnected which I suspect is because it is their closing time.
I have explained in my emails about never having service, and the reply I got was asking questions like: where are you when your calls drop out, what are the numbers you are calling when they drop out etc..... I explained that im not even able to make bloody calls, let alone have the freakin things drop out on me.
We then played email tag for the next 3 days because even though they had my full name, date of birth, address an alternative contact details, they were "unable to indetify me"
I told her to stop playing games and that I didnt appreciate the "delay tactics" and I get a response back saying that according to their "coverage maps" my address was listed as being an outdoor service area only....
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! My last contract was signed while I was living at this address and I never had this issue during that 2 year contract period.
I have sporting commitments in the Wynnum/Manly area, until late on Monday nights, I cant even call my husband to let him know I am on my way home because I have no reception.... . I can leave home with the "limited service" displayed on my phone, drive to my work place in Wacol, and still have "limited service" on my phone when I get there, and go most of the morning until it comes back on so surely that is prove enough that it is their
coverage, not my address that is the issue.
I then told her that I was going to send my complaint to the TIO and the response I got back was "It is always disappointing when customers are unhappy with any aspect of the Vodafone service as we aim to provide excellent service at all times.
Whilst we appreciate your frustration, as you have advised that you have sought a third party, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, in an attempt to resolve your complaint, that you follow the procedure that the Ombudsman would have provided"
So in other words, they have just wiped their hands of me, they didnt even try to "look into my issue" like they promised, nor did she even seem interested in helping me....
Lets hope the TIO side with me and get me out of my crappy contract so I can go to a providor that will actually give me the service I am paying for each month.

So after weeeks and WEEKS of dramas with Vodafone to get insurance, a new phone and some kinda contact from them, i finally get an answer last week that i will be getting a new iphone 4. I was told they would call me to confirm delivery date. So today i get a call from vodafone. A prerecorded call saying, that next Thursday will be the delivery date of my new phone. If this was not suitable to press 2 and wait for a customer service person to change it. As i have no idea whether them delviering it means i have to be home or not, i press 2 to speak to someone. I am on line for around a minute. At this time, there is a message saying, 'sorry we cant answer you, call 1800... to talk to us'. Now im sitting calling the 1800 number that they said for around 10 minutes. YOU FAIL VODAFONE. Again this is more a waist of my day. Just deliver the phone!!!!!!!
10861 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Incompetent at 6 Jan 2011 10:42:33 AM
In it's infinite stupidity, I've been left without Service for over a week, and now, after arranging an extention to pay an account which they incorrectly added in the first place, they have now withdrawn money from my account 17 days before the agreed extension leaving me with nothing to pay rent, bills and gain food not to mention the bank fee for an overdrawn account!!!!! Vodafone can go jump. They've lost me as a customer for good!!!!
10859 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very bloody poor at 6 Jan 2011 10:38:00 AM
I am using a vodafone usb stick for internet access and to send txts and have had no end of trouble with coverage, after being advised that I could not get a usb stick that could be connected to an aeriel for better coverage(and offering to pay for it myself) , I discovered thru a friend that this was possible and have since purchased one- the coverage is not much better though!!! Also after getting bloody Lara on the fone every time I called no matter what the time ,I finally got onto a customer service person , to find out why I could not get reception in Townsville-North Queensland, which is the 2nd largest city in Queensland, they advised me to go to a different suburb , as the one I was in wasn't covered by their network, which I duly did and surprise , surprise - still no coverage,I have since bought a usb stick with an aerial connection and aerial and have tried nearly every suburb in Townsville and got no coverage at all !!! I am very disappointed in their coverage , as this was not mentioned to me when I purchased the plan , and what is even more frustrating is that it is nearly impossible to get thru to Vodafone to speak to a person, without getting stuck with bloody Lara for at least 1/2 an hour.
7 Jan 2011 09:42:09 AM: My vodafone usb stick has been incredible slow for the past 2 weeks and even drops out from time to time. In the usb help area it states that if you change the network setting to 3g only this should help but it doesn't. this is so annoying not having internet as I use the internet for my job.

Have been a vodafone customer for 5 years. Touch screen on phone is non operational. Went to vodafone store- Carindale and was told it will take 3 weeks to fix it and that they could not give me a replacement handset (part of my contract by the way) because all 27 yes 27 replacement handsets were out. Here's a solution vodafail if your handsets consistently breakdown have more replacement handsets or simply supply phones that work - wow there is a new concept.

well, after 7 years as a voda customer, it doesnt improve.
7 out of 10 calls dont connect, it just hangs, have to cancel and try again, MMS fails to send, maybe 1 in 10 goes through.
Signal is horrendous, thats on a variety of Phones, including Nokias and Iphones(i know are bad anyway).
Really considering leaving Voda at end of contract and doing the unthinkable and going to telstra unless they improve.

I signed up for a two year contract with vodafone, consequently paying for a phone I can hardly use. Every call drops out at some point. If a am lucky to get a few minutes of call time, the reception breaks up so it's nearly impossible to have a conversation. Crazy Johns showed me the vodfone coverage map and told me I would have 'no problem'. I could hardly use my phone between Adelaide and Queensland (even though we stayed on main highways); nothing in Coffs Harbour; and the Gold Coast coverage is dreadful.
10837 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is not happy Jan at 6 Jan 2011 09:04:09 AM
After getting a call from Vodafone for our business mobile saying we can save you $40 a month we changed 23/12/10 that even took a while. We have no reception in our house which being a small business the calls are made from little else in the rural areas! It has has taken hours & days speaking to many different people only to be told the mobile is not listed under business & you go to the bottom of the que again. Finally today they ahave raised a trouble ticket and someone will call us Monday!!! So much for small business people trying to make a living.

10828 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Incredibly. at 6 Jan 2011 08:33:46 AM
I have been with Vodafone with my mobile phone for about 12 months now.. and I thought I was alone.. Constant drop outs.. 3G internet on my phone barely works.. I lose all reception/signal in metropolitan areas during my 30 minute train ride into the city each morning.. I joke that MMS messages may take up to 72 hours to reach their destination - but it's no joke at all. I have SMS blocks - for example a 4 hour block where no SMS messages come in or out - then I receive them all at once, sometimes these SMS messages have been quite urgent, but when the sender tried to phone me, they thought my phone was off because that robot lady told them it was turned off. But it wasn't, as far as I knew I was in full reception.
This is an on-going, constant issue since I started using Vodafone, I just figured I had to sit tight and deal with this severely inferior and inadequate service.
It's truly disgusting.

3G dongle connects ok via HSUPA with 2 to 3 bars (I'm about 900m from the Brisbane CBD and in a valley so I guess it's a remote site) but I can't maintain a connection with skype, email or browser - I get about 1 minute of slow feed, then 2-5 minutes of waiting.
Vodafone, I've been a loyal customer for nearly 10 years, but I'm starting to consider moving... please get your act together!

Trying to determine remaining contract. So I attempt to use myvodafone (lost password - my bad). However it the tells me I have forgotten my mothers maiden name in my secret question. Im 44 for *%$# sake, I know my mothers maiden name. After Lara (IVR) informed me that she had technical problems and couldnt help me (3 times). I finally got through to india to get a temp password. When I did access my Vodafone I discovered that my mothers maiden name was replaced with a string of java script code (my mums maiden name wasnt java script). But alas my vodafone wont tell me my remaining contract, so back to Lara and she still hanging up on me more because she has problems. So 1 and a half hours later I am still trying find how long i've got before I can dump them...I feel her pain.

Yesterday I was telemarketed by a Vodafone Direct employee (02 8061 8120) who said he was looking at my account usage and he commented that I "made a lot of calls". I told him he would have seen that over the last year about 80% of my calls are consecutive repeats to the same number at the same time due to Vodafone system failure and that their actual bill should be about a quarter of what it is. About a second later the call was terminated by him (maybe the phone dropped out?) BUT HE NEVER CALLED BACK!!!!! He had hit his complaint kill switch - HAHAHAHAHAHA - it proves the point doesn't it.

Took a holiday in Moreton Island, and of course no connection almost everywhere!
One of my rooms I have some connection for calls but Internet is hopeless!
What angers me, that according to their coverage map this area should have both cellular and Internet, but of course this is not the case!
The other issue which seems interesting to me is that in some places is shows Edge connection, but when I try to open any page says no connection.

5 Jan 2011 09:37:45 PM: i find the forever cheerful Lara the most offensive part of the VF experience. Her almost chuckling demeanour at the end of certain sentences seems to me like a message from those in the boardroom, laughing at us for signing up, lining their pockets with our hard earned dollars & locking us in to 2 years of turmoil. Scum of the earth in my opinion? Lara included

There are many issues that I have had with vodafone in the last 12 months and after being a patron with them for more than 10 years I am extremely annoyed. One of the main issues that I have had with their service is text messages being charged multiple times on my bill. I have report this to them on the last 4 bills and still this occurs. Why is it that I have to inform them of this repeated error? and why am I waisting my precious time to be put on hold for more than 50 minutes to tell them this????
Very angry!

Currently on hold - has now been 1 hour & 51 minutes and counting.(I was not given the option of leaving my number for them to call me back). After 56 min I was answered & spoken to for 15 min (rudely), part problem resolved but still not happy. On 1st Jan I received a sms to say that my bill was $190.76 due to usage not covered by cap allowance. However when i received my bill on 3rd Jan it is for $294.33. I have been told that the cap is $79.00 + $190.76 + GST = $294.33 Service consultant didn't care that the sms is misleading. Also every sms I had sent was sent up to 3 times within a second of each other. I'm good at texting but not that good. They have refunded approx $60.00 & said its a technical issue with my phone N97 (which they provided) they have trasferred me to tech support which i have been on hold to until now (1hr 55 min) & suprise suprise i've just been disconnected because of daylight saving...thanks vodafone

Hi guys an Interesting piece of information for all of you disgruntled customers I have been experiencing the same trouble and have contacted the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) there is a Link to the site if you click 'How to Complain' above.
I received this e-mail back:
Thank you for contacting the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) on 31 December 2010 about your complaint with Vodafone.
What to do about your complaint
*******************************
I have recorded your complaint and forwarded your contact details and the details of your complaint to a resolution department within Vodafone. This department has 10 clear working days from the date of this email to contact and resolve the matter directly with you.
To help with the complaint process:

Vodafone cannot ask you to pay these charges until your complaint is resolved, so please contact the TIO again if credit management action continues. However, please organise to pay the rest of your bills, because Vodafone can ask you to pay non-disputed charges.

10705 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Big Fail at 5 Jan 2011 04:52:14 PM
I ordered an E17 on a $29 plan in July with Vodafone. They "attempted" to deliver the phone to me twice, but the courier "couldn't find me". I work in a large regional hospital.
After 6 weeks waiting for the phone and now receiving bills for a service I hadn't accessed I eventually got them to cancel the contract and call it quits. This took 4 hours of work, of which 90% I was on hold.
Then today I get a call from nrg-gs.com, which is a debt collection mob that Vodafone have apparently sold "my debt" too. Turns out they reckon I owe $702 for the phone I never received!!!!!
So now I'm on hold, fingers crossed with Vodafone, hoping to talk to their billing. I had to call sales and the guy there put me through on his "direct line". Not surprisingly I'm now in the 59th minute on hold.
I'm not even a customer but these guys are screwing with my life. What a joke of a company!!!!!!
Cheers,
Pedro.

10688 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major FAIL at 5 Jan 2011 03:35:21 PM
Signed up for a new iPhone4 just before Xmas on an infinity plan - literally EVERY call I have made since I got the phone has dropped out 1-2 mintues after connecting. The reception will initially be ok, then it will (without fail) drop out and say "call failed". Then the reception will go to "no service" for 1-2 minutes before coming back online again. I have spent countless hours on the phone to support with no resolution that worked. (I would estimate that 20-30 of my calls didn't even connect, AFTER I HAD ENTERED ALL MY PERSONAL IDENTIFIERS ETC, and would result in an automated message saying "looks like we've had a technical difficulty, please hang up and try again". Needless top say I'm ready to go postal on vodaphone right about now). I have tried replacing the sim, hard reset and updating, none of which worked. I have some smartarse teenager working in a Voda-shop try and tell me I wasn't "looking after my phone" and i needed to update it. I got the F#@kin phone 6 days ago - how much more up to date could it be! I checked anyway, and I had the most recent updates already installed. Second trip to the voda-shop where I got the phone resulted in.......nothing. just three teen bimbos that wouldn't answer their phone prior to my visit. When I entered the store just before it closed they were all just sitting there on their phones on facebook! (and yes, they had iPhones that actually WORKED!!). They are apparently looking into replacing it, but claim to not have access to any stock for the foreseeable future.....so yeh, Vodaphone can suck my sav I'm going to Telstra thanks very much
10672 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is They got problems! at 5 Jan 2011 03:05:03 PM
I was on hold today (around 3pm Brisbane time) trying to sort out a network issue with a lovely Bumbai staff member when the call dropped out. I then received the following text messages from Voda.
First..."We're sorry (my name) but the call just got disconnected. You do not have to ring us back. We'll call you at the soonest possible.
Second...We are currently having an issue making outgoing calls. As soon as that fixes we'll ring you back either today or tomorrow. We'll try our best to call today. VF
Gotta love it, as the issue of calls dropping out is what i was calling about and they are having the same issue as well....
Some please help them.... to help me!!

I travel between postcodes 4000 and 4014 daily and i can tell you vodafone has never even come close to acceptable speeds/service. Its a disgrace. Even at "full signal" in the CBD the service is horrific, i used to think it was an iPhone problem but thanks to this site i now know the true cause. I have 2 vodafone contracts in my household that i will not be renewing.

The ONLY time I can use my phone is when I'm in the City. Any other times, my phone will receive a call and it immediately cuts out or disconnects when I start to talk. Its rediculous. I have my phone for safety too and its just worthless. I may aswell not have a mobile phone at all.

10640 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mediocre at 5 Jan 2011 02:09:21 PM
I needed to set up a mobile broadband connection as I had moved to a newly built house and didn't have a landline for a few months (Telstra's fault, unrelated). I go to the Vodafone store at North Lakes to buy a pocket wifi modem and a data SIM on the $50/10Gb month by month plan (no contract). I explain what I want to the saleswoman and clarify what I want several times throughout the manual setup process, stressing that this is exclusively for data. I finally get home and get connected, with pro rata I have about 4Gb of downloads left in the month. I downloaded about 2Gb in total, with roaming disabled on the modem. The next month I received a bill for $650. The saleswoman still managed to screw up and put me on a handset plan with no data allowance by mistake. Vodafone said they couldn't do anything about it, but changed their tune when I pointed out that I still had the signed contract with me and finally removed the excess charges.

I live within 6 K's of the Brisbane CBD and either my house is wrapped in lead sheeting or VF network coverage is not quite what they say it is... After two iPhones nothing has changed, any wonder their plans are so cheap, I guess I'll have to go back to Telstra if I want to send texts, make calls or surf the net...
Maybe we should only pay part of our plans, just like VF are only providing part of what they promise (in their contract)...

10620 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Dropping the ball. Terible Website too. at 5 Jan 2011 01:26:25 PM
I have been a customer of Vodafone for the entire time I have had a mobile phone (14 years). When the company was smaller with less customers it was cool and reliable. Now that its a behemoth with millions of customers it is collapsing under its own weight.
My main complaints are the terrible data reliability. Works one minute for a few hundred kb and then stalls and won't work again for the next hour. It would be better if it didn't work at all. The other major problem I have is the useless Vodafone website. Half the time this isn't working and wont take credit card payments or display account details. It can't be that hard to get this right? Oh and how about an Iphone account app? You have enough customers with Iphones?

I've been a customer for 10 years and had previously been their walking billboard of advertising. Loved them. Reception even in small regional towns. Since January 2010....rubbish. I was advised my handset was too hold and to upgrade. I wanted to buy an iphone outright. I was convinced to get it for close to nothin on a plan and my $79 cap would provide me more than I'm currently getting. Rubbish, bills for $500 per month later proved my old school contract was far superior. Then to add to this, my reception has not improved...perhaps worse. Messages sending and received days late (if at all). Emails not sending. Dropped calls. And what do I need to do...and endless list of tasks...still getting no where.
To make matters worse I recently had voice surgery and haven't been able to speak...Vodafail single handedly took away my only communication means of texting and emails. Way to go...feeling so isolated.
PS using Virgin broadband to write this. Excellent service.

Data is sporadic and call quality less than acceptable at my house. I always put it down to the metal roof on the house, so I always take and make calls by the back window on the house. even then it's 2G or EDGE I don't do data in the house or back yard as it's hopeless. I dropped mobile broadband last year as it was shoddy too and I now how expensive ADSL for data in the house.
10596 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is exceptional poor, fluctuating inconsistent service at 5 Jan 2011 12:28:34 PM
I have been a vodafone customer pretty much since the advent of digital telephone technology and i have never experienced the poor, fluctuating inconsistent reception service that I have over the past several months. It is now at a stage that I actively monitor my reception and will often see my level of reception go from a full 3G service to searching to no service. This is unacceptable for the 21st century.
10582 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Douchebags - Lara needs a good slapping at 5 Jan 2011 12:11:16 PM
Ive been (Just recently changed telco's) a Vodafone customer for around 7-8 years.
The last 12 months or so have been incredibly frustrating with them- numerous handset fails, poor service, replacement handsets that were reconditioned ones instead of new ones, customer care staff with exceptionally poor english skills, excessive amounts of time on hold (one call had me on hold for almost two hours before I gave up and hung up), and unwanted handest upgrade that was damn near impossible to return.
In the end I had a gutful and went to pay out my contract and cancel my service, it took TIO involvement to get it happening as every time I tried to do it myself, their system was down, or I was transferred back and forth between departments all telling me I had come through to the wrong place, or the person I spoke to me couldnt understand english properly or spoke so fast it was like a foreign language and got angry at me when I asked them to slow down.
That was two months ago. My contract has since been cancelled and I'm a very happy customer of another telco. BUT... they wont take my final payment! they said the final amount would direct debit as per usual on the usual due date - it didnt. There was plenty of money in my account to cover it, yet it didnt come out. The following month I get a bill with the amount now listed as overdue and that I need to call collections to explain why I hadnt paid. So after another epic lifetime on hold and Lara getting sarcastic with me, they assured me I wouldnt be charged any late fees and it will automatically come out on the next payment cycle. Well, the next payment cycle passed a week ago and surprise surprise, no payment came out.
If they default my credit history Im gonna be very unimpressed. But if they dont want their money either, then im cool with that...

Brand new phone resets itself 10 to 15 times per day. Calls drop out all the time in the middle of Brisbane. Not worth waiting for data retrieval unless connected to wi-fi. 3G coverage is terrible even in Brisbane CBD so using Facebook, Youtube or similar is just a waste of time. Have been on hold with Vodafone customer care for over 110 minutes, 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Keep sending me to different departments and i find it very hard to understand some of their staff. Extremely frustrated
10576 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very Fail at 5 Jan 2011 11:55:09 AM
I have had issues for the past 6 months with data and MMS. I have been with vodafone for many years but it is has only been when i got my Iphone, 6 months ago and actually started using my phone for things other than calls and text :)
At first I thought the slow data was just part and parcel of it being through a mobile phone, but then MMS message became 50/50 as to if i got them or not. I rang vodafone and was advised to try it in a different phone as my Iphone may be having some issues. So i went and bought a cheap vodafone prepaid handset and put my sim in. I tried this out for just over a month with the same issues as the Iphone. So i rang again and was told to go into a store and they would help me out. I went into the store and spoke to a guy that didnt seem to interested in helping but he spoke to me about a sony ericsson and he advised i shouldnt have an issue with it. Waited until start of November and thought I would give it a go and ordered it. When I received it I still had the same issues. I rang the call centre again only to be told try another phone - I advised them that this was now my third phone in less than 6 months so it could not be that - they then told me to go into the store and get a new sim card as it was probably just because the one I had was old. So I went into the store and got this new sim and this did not fix the problem either. So I rang back and was told that they would escalate the issue and would get back to me (this was the end of november 2010), they also told me that there was no issue with their network and it was probably going to turn out to be an issue on my end - kind of rude they way they said it too.
Anyways I got a voicemail to call them back at the start of December and try to do so throughout the whole of December but the wait times were just too much to set aside the time.
Finally got ahold of someone today 5th Jan who tried telling me all the same things the last people did (i.e that it was my phone or my location or my settings) I told them to look at my notes and that I had been through this and three phones. They went silent and only then said that they were having some issues, didnt know when it would be fixed and would not offer anything to make up for running me around and three phones later as he advised it was my choice to follow their technical trouble shooting requests.
I think I have given them a fair go to be honest and resonable with me as a customer, I think it is time to go somewhere else.
Thanks also to vodafail for letting me have somewhere to vent :)

I have been ringing 1555 for the last three days with either an extremely long wait (over 40 mins) or getting the callback option which is ridiculous as all it does is put you through to the area you need to talk to and you are told it will be a 40 minute wait again. Finally I just got through and was told they cannot help me at all as their system is down ! It costs me $2.50 every time I call 1555 (as I am on a sim only plan) and all I want to do is get information about my upgrade options as its impossible to do this online. Optus have an option to buy as an upgrade online.

I was meant to be entitled to 3 months free access, 10% off my monthly bills for the life of the contract and 1GB free data for the purchase of a phone running an Android OS.
I was just direct debited $139 from my bank account for my first two months of useage.
No 3 free months, no 10% discount, nada.
Looking at the Vodafone forum on Whirlpool I am just one of many this has happened to .

I have had a mobile broadband USB device for over a year now and have experienced nothing but trouble since day dot. I have complained numerous times. Some days I cannot connect to the internet at all and other days if I get a connection, it will drop out constantly. When I first signed up with Vodafone I was assured a number of times that I was in a very good coverage area. I was extremly cautious before I signed up with the 24 month plan. I am so disapointed with the service that I have received from Vodafone. The hold times are crazy and when I actually get to speak to someone I am told they will call me back. Well guess what - I'm still waiting. All I ever wanted was to receive the service that I pay for yet Vodafone continue to direct debit from my account every month. My husband & I have both mobile phones with Vodafone and have been with them for years. As soon as my contract ends I will be changing suppliers. If I can get out of my contract for the broadband I will. I am sick of not receiving customer service that I am entitles to as a consumer. I have even failed a uni online test as my connection dropped out so many times, my test time ran out!!! Vodafone - let me go so I can get another internet connection that works - my future relies on this!!!

I have been a longterm customer of Vodafone - by longterm I mean 10yrs + .... and in that 10 plus years where do I begin?!
I cannot describe the frustration - the difficulties in communicating with a communications company!
I have had lost calls, dropped calls, sms messages that time out and don't go through ... or finally come through at 3.11 am (for some weird reason)... I've had no, limited or non-existent data or broadband - 3G is dodgy at the best of times, incorrect billing ... and the icing on the cake was when they refused to sell me a new fone (for my partner when he changed jobs) because I've paid my bills late (occassionally ... as a protest) because I was a "risky" customer ... they are fortunate enough to still have me as a customer only through my pig-headedness!
When you try to speak to a person ... you get the infuriating Lara .. (I hate Lara) ... and the cycle of "we're really busy at the moment ..."
It is not unusual to have wait times to customer service in excess of 45 minutes ... whereupon you get a call centre who has no idea of the problems, denies there is a problem, blames the customer/client, insists that you go through a stupid procedure to re-set your phone, and still have dropped calls, bad reception and overcharges on your bills at the end of it.
Trying to contact them with a complaint is a nightmare - trying to email them is even worse - I have a list of replies stating that my complaint has been dealt with ... it never was, and probably never will be!
Contrast this with a well known car insurance company that I had to deal with on New Years' Day .... less than 3 minutes ... TALKING TO A REAL PERSON ... had my claim sorted.
Vodafone is just good enough and apart from the class action - I think they should be investigated under the Trade Practices Act for false and misleading conduct ... and maybe we should get the ACCC involved too...
Constant misleading rubbish is all we get fed from Vodafone.

It's a total failure but in our case it's not something we depend on. Briefly, my wife and I purchased a small notebook computer to use while travelling here and overseas. We have had two prepaid cards both of which expired without one use being able to be made of the facility. Despite hours on the phone to technical personnel and a number of visits to Vodaphone stores we have achieved absolutely nothing. The cost to us has not been great but the frustration and the time wasted has been significant.

5 Jan 2011 09:18:12 AM: That's been happening to me, too but i'm with Optus. Seems like everybody's got issues, huh?
5 Jan 2011 11:15:59 AM: My friends on optus don't have that problem, you must work for vodafone, huh!
10480 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is useless for someone trying to run a business at 5 Jan 2011 08:23:24 AM
I'm trying to run a bussiness and it doesn't help that phone calls are not being received or phone calls keep dropping out. My phone reception constantly says 'searching' and the only way to get recption back is to turn the phone off and turn it back on again. I am not receiving texts to say that I have received a voicemail and have to constantly check my voicemail to see if there are any messages. So frustrating! I went to see Telstra about changing over but I am currently on a contract plan which will cost a ridiculous amount to break the contract!
5 Jan 2011 08:33:37 AM: I own a 3Gs iPhone and when travelling from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane my phone does the same thing! If you don't turn it off it will not reconnect to the network, feel your pain!
10474 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is zip at 5 Jan 2011 08:00:42 AM
I travelled to mid north coast for two days and had absolutely no coverage! Not even Coffs harbour..now I am back on the Gold Coast and a day later the reception has not returned Website wont accept my details either
5 Jan 2011 08:04:32 AM: I also live on the Gold Coast with the same 'no coverage' yesterday. If you have your postcodes can you please record them on the Your Coverage tab? We need your raw data to gather information about Vodafones apparent lack of network coverage.
10473 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Too Slack at 5 Jan 2011 07:55:53 AM
Be careful if you are on a plan and you make international calls, that useage may not register for up to three days. I got caught out at the end of the month when I had some extra dollars I could use up and I made a couple of overseas calls. It can take up to three days to register them in your useage. I accept it can take a couple of hours, but three days is ridiculous
5 Jan 2011 07:59:39 AM: Incredible in this day and age that phone call registers can take so long to appear on a bill!!!! Laura (silly woman) says that some charges can take up to 40 hours to appear on your bill and some charges even longer. Thanks for the warning!!!!
10467 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 5 Jan 2011 07:10:57 AM
Last month, for the first time, I was charged excess usage on my phone, even though I have $750 worth of call and text to use. I checked my Vodafone usage yesterday January 3rd to see how I was going since it reset on January 1st. Strangely, Vodafone maintains that I have used $140 worth of calls and texts (possible) but also maintains that I only have 993MB of Data left out of 2Gigs...strange indeed as I have not used any data at all since January 1st. So be careful regarding your bills. I have also been receiving txt bills for someone elses account, despite having made Vodafone aware of this in early December.
I have just phoned Vf Customer Service only to be told that their computers are down so they can't check anything for me for at least another 4 hours.

5 Jan 2011 07:56:03 AM: Oh my gosh!!!! What a horrid experience!! Also the biggest lie in the world is............the computers are down!!!! Check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page and take your issue to the TIO. Good luck!!!!
10464 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is crap at 5 Jan 2011 07:04:01 AM
I have bought Vodafone Mobile Broadband internet for 2 months now and I can't have a decent internet connection. I am paying money for the service but Vodafone doesn't seem to be concerned with it. Maybe, they should have just refunded the money for a failure service and then fix their system. I am very very frustrated with Vodafone!
5 Jan 2011 07:09:07 AM: Hope you are not on a plan with them!!!??? If you are you need to visit the TIO as soon as possible. Check out the How To Complain tab for more information. We also need your postcode to record your lack of coverage in the Your Coverage tab. Good luck!!!!
5 Jan 2011 07:18:56 AM: I felt terrible,.. I am on a plan for 12 months. I am thinking that I will have to pay early exit and cancellation fees. What is TIO? Thanks.
5 Jan 2011 07:22:52 AM: The telecommunications industry ombudsman. It's an office setup by the federal government and paid for by charging fees to the telcos that handles complaints against the telcos. They have the power to force vodafone to let you out of your contract and each time someone contacts the TIO against vodafone, vodafone pays a fine. The fine increase depending on how many steps you have to go through, so once you contact the TIO, vodafone would want to resolve your situation as fast as possible.
5 Jan 2011 07:39:40 AM: The TIO details are in the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.......sorry I should have mentioned that earlier!!!
5 Jan 2011 07:48:23 AM: Thanks. I'll do that.

We own 3 businesses and in all three business locations there is no Vodaphone reception. The vodaphone technical department has acknoweldged that it is a problem and said we should cancel our plan which involves 10 phones. The trouble is we can not get in contact with the business cancellations department to cancel. Good-one Vodaphone.

Phone sometimes calls other times just sit's and does nothing.
This is getting worse everyday
I use my phone for work Well when it wants to work which i would say is about 30% of the time.

Have been with Vodafone for years. I have to stand in the middle of the street, literally, to be able to get mobile reception. When I look down my street and see some other poor soul there talking on their mobile - I KNOW they are with Vodafone. Pathetic coverage - Australia wide. Should have their licence withdrawn.
4 Jan 2011 08:53:04 PM: They are aware of the problem, all you need to do is go to the nearest store and pick up a free fluro shirt,to reduce the chances of you guys getting run over!
4 Jan 2011 08:57:01 PM: Heaven forbid, but I wonder if Vodafone would be guilty of culpable manslaughter?
4 Jan 2011 09:19:11 PM: doubt it, but they would sue the driver for loss of revenue

10419 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No reception at 4 Jan 2011 07:34:25 PM
All three of my daughters and myself have vodaphone. We loved the prices and the service. But we cannot use our phones at our home. The only way to stop the drop outs is to put the phone on a surface and use speaker to talk. You only have to touch the phone to lose reception. We are in a major town in north Qld and should not have these problems. We can see the tower from our house.

4 Jan 2011 08:58:05 PM: Thats ridiculous, you obviously need a better view of that tower
4 Jan 2011 08:59:36 PM: Hey heres a thought, I weonder if some of vodas towers are foney (get it) just to give the public the impression they have lots of towers?
4 Jan 2011 09:04:06 PM: hahaha...loving all the vodafone puns atm. As funny as that sounds, i'm sure voda would do better just spending the money on real towers than building fake ones to give an erroneous impression. More likely that they are just overcapacity.

10370 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very bad at 4 Jan 2011 04:10:47 PM
I was recently given the IPhone 4 as a gift but it's on a Vodafone plan which is cheaper than the other phone providers and now I know why. The signal is terrible, the phone breaks up everywhere, and I live in the Gold Coast - it's not as though its the outback! I am unfortunately locked into this plan for 24 months and don't want to pay for 2 years of bad coverage; very slow internet (when it works) and delayed voicemail. The chances of getting out of this plan seem very slim. I would be willing to pay higher phone bills for a better service. Thanks for setting this up - it's scary to see how many disgruntled customers there are.

PLEASE SEE BELOW MY RECENT E-MAIL TO VODAFONE:
I have already made calls regarding the extremely bad network coverage I am experiencing from Vodafone! Some of the problems include constant call drop outs, Messages taking 5+ days to be received if the come through at all ( this includes Voicemail, Text and MMS), Poor Customer Service etc.
I am loosing thousands of dollars in Business due to clients not being able to contact me, or if they leave a message I am not receiving it on time. I have been into the Vodafone stores and no one can help. I had previously tried contacting technical support but do not have the time to be sitting on the phone for hours, until Friday the 31st of December 2010. On this date I first tried calling 1555, from my mobile after waiting on the phone 15mins the call dropped out I tried a further 10 times, only to face the same issue! I then used a landline and selected the callback option, the woman that eventually called me back asked for my reason for calling and I explained the situation, she was going to transfer me through to Technical Support, but she too had Technical difficulties and offered to call me back, I am still awaiting the Call!!!
I then rang and waited on the phone to be put through and finally got through to technical support after over an hour and a half on the phone, to be asked to switch my phone on and off, place the sim in another unlocked handset, which still had the same results poor service only 1-2 bars as measured by the handsets but call failures if calls are attempted!
I then rang again this morning and spoke to an arrogant gentleman, who when I explained that I now wish to terminate the Vodafone contract because of the poor customer service and Poor Network Coverage etc etc etc, he decided that rather than talking to me and trying to resolve the problem he would terminate the call.
I rang back again and after 25mins on hold spoke to another gentleman, he said he could see that I had called on Friday etc I explained I need something done about it sooner rather than later as I return to work tomorrow and need a phone! He said he would try chasing it up and call back within half an hour I am still waiting on the edge of my seat for this call as well!
I have kept my side of the contract agreement, as I have every month paid the $100-$150. As I am not able to use the phone due to extremely bad network coverage I will be terminating my contract and I will NOT be paying any further monies, as I am not getting what I paid for now! I have tried going through the right channels i.e. Technical support, however after talking to some of the belligerent, arrogant staff that you call service technicians, not to mention the unhelpful staff in the Vodafone stores, I wish to terminate the contract! Due to the poor dealing of this situation by Vodafone I have contacted the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, and will be contacting the ACCC.
If someone would like to contact me regarding the Issues I have outlined, please feel free.

We have 2 mobiles connected to Vodafone, one on an unlimited plan as it is used for business and we didn't have a home phone or internet connection - until now! I was forced to connect a home phone and internet service due to Vodafone being totally unreliable with their service. Vodafone's response to my emails of complaint were blase about the coverage problems and slow data - so I was forced to complain to the TIO.

10340 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Huge Fail at 4 Jan 2011 02:45:26 PM
Overcharging of my account. Vodafone wanted an extra $66 for absolutely nothing. I am on a $29 cap and was charged $97 for my first bill when i did not even go over my usage for the month. Then when i signed to Vodafone, part of my contract for the first 12 months was to receive 1GB of download for the first 12 months then 50MB for the remaining 12 months. I only have 50MB right from the start. They have dishonoured the contract as far as i am concerned and should be terminated. Been on hold with them for a minimum of 45min each call then they hang up.
4 Jan 2011 05:31:55 PM: 1st bill huh? Heard of a thing called Pro Rata Charges? What this means for you is that your first bill wiil always be higher because it's for your first month in advance plus the amount of days from when you first connect up until the first billing cycle date, e.g. if you sign up for a $29 cap on the 1st and Vodafone's next billing cycle is the 15th, the first bill should be for $29 + approx. $15(1/2 a month). Now, on a $29 cap you get $150 of credit for a month, so for half a month you should only get $75. Is it possible that you overspent on what you partially received when you may have thought you had the full $150? As for the bonus 1GB for 12 months, that's is for 12 months not 12 months and the little partial month you begin with. You should have the full 1GB + 50MB from the first full month.
Pro Rata is listed on the details of the contract you signed. If the sales consultant didn't properly explain this then Customer care might be able to offer a discount.

Spent a total of OVER 16 HOURS on hold in 2010 trying to sort out a simple problem (Vodafone sent the wrong items ordered from the Vodafone store). Was constantly transferred back and forth to the wrong people, given incorrect information such as "direct line" support numbers, disconnected after waiting on hold for over an hour straight, told that the problem was solved when it wasn't, etc.

Standing in the middle of Redcliffe I can only get 2-3 bars of reception at the most. Even when it says I have 3 bars of 3G reception, a simple web page takes many minutes to load. It's ridiculous. Also ridiculous is the fact that nobody can call me at night when my phone is right next to my bed!! The reception goes from 1 bar to nothing. It is So frustrating, especially when Vodafone USED to be very reliable.

I paid many many many many many months of UNUSED mobile broadband because I could NOT use it. Not because I didnt want to use it.
Many attempted calls, went in circles at call centres - they make it too hard so you just give up.
They just kept taking my direct debit each month. 24 months of DEAD MONEY gifted to vodafone.
As soon as my phone contract finishes this month I will go to another provider. Im not even going to start on the reception of my phone. Somewhat usable however compared to unable to be used internet for 2 years.

They just kept taking my direct debit each month. 24 months of DEAD MONEY gifted to vodafone.

4 Jan 2011 05:48:16 PM: Really? You paid for 24 months without getting it fixed. Take some personal responsibility mate. 1,2,3 months shame on Vodafone, 24 months shame on you. I have a mobile broadband that I had trouble with on my windows 7 computer, then again when I switched to Mac. Both times I had it resolved by Vodafone's technical support. With the windows 7 issue I had to go through all the troubleshooting and eventually had to go instore for a newer version of the software, but the Mac problem was fixed up very quickly with just a few changed settings.
Please, and this goes for everyone here, please keep your complaints fairand reasonable and only level blame at Vodafone when it is genuinely their fault. I can imagine Vodafone reading this website and seeing all exaggerated rubbish on here and just dismissing it all, even us who have real complaints. It's the same reason why when I call customer care I have to wait on hold for so long because of all the bullshit on hold ahead of me in line.

5 Jan 2011 09:32:54 AM: Little bit more complex that was my rant! Techinally approx first year was drop in and out - maybe 5 -10 mins tops of internet was the longest times I could be connected was very poor service in populated area always jumping from 3G to edge and the others (?) and then disconnecting(sorry I am not a technical person!). Several contacts made to vodafone at first area that I was using it. Moved house - then no service what so ever - was in a black hole. Guy on phone even said ' oh there is no service there'. But I was given no resolve? Always speaking to call centres overseas.
Now I live in a populated area and ofcourse dont have the internet now - but my phone is always dropping out?
Im glad the technical support assisted you better and that there are good outcomes for some!

Our small business was told by the Vodafone sales guy that their coverage was 98% of the country's population and Telstra's was 99%. We went with Vodafone because they were cheaper. We soon found out that they were literally cheaper. In the last 12 months or so the dropouts and poor service has been a complete and utter nightmare and it is even worse for our Victorian manager. Dropouts in inner suburban areas is just not on. We have complained several times but like everybody else you just get nowhere. Now we find ourselves stuck in a contract with them for another 12 months and another 12 months of sheer frustration. Any suggestions for a solution to our predicament would be greatly appreciated.

You call Vodafone to ask how much is owing on a phone account that never works to start with, you wait 45 minutes to speak to someone that is in India, you have to get them to repeat themselves 4 times before you understand what they have just said. Then they tell you the system is down and I'll have to call back in 4 hours to ask again. If I charged vodafone my hourly rate for having to wait on their stupid call waiting system, they would owe me money. Your stuffed if you do and your screwed if you don't!!!!!
@Vodafone and TIO
"F**k you and f**k you too"
VF's song to customers and the TIO- "F**k you and f**k them too" ?
