26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9205 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Broken network and no information at 30 Dec 2010 04:39:09 PM
I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for over 10 years. During this time, I have been a strong supporter of Vodafone and referred new customers to Vodafone. This stops now...

Over the past 3 or so months the network has slowly degraded and service at times non-existent. This includes no service, service going in & out, battery dying, voicemail messages delayed (days at time), not being able to access internet/3G, not being able to send MMS and numerous failed calls / drop outs.

I have previously tried to contact Vodafone via phone; on hold for hours... Then via email; no reply twice ... So then I contacted the TIO, amazingly, Vodafone then called me back. They said the network was stuffed and could not give me an ETA, but, would give 5 months at 1/2 price or to let me out of the contract.

I would like to stay with Vodafone as the service up until this point was great, so I opted for the former option.

However, Vodafone still knows there are problems and WILL NOT tell us when it will be fixed, they are trying to blame the individual's, rather than the network... This is wrong. I know 8 people on Vodafone, all with the same issues (not reported to Vodafone)

Even as of today (31/12/10) I tried to send a MMS 15 times, with no luck... I had two call drop outs (call failed) and poor reception. Think I live in the sticks or lead box? Nope, the main part of Sydney. What a joke.

I think my loyalty has run its course, mainly because of the contempt from Vodafone CEO and lack of information on any resolution.

I'm so sick of vodafone. My phone always drops out, I can NEVER access the internet and i don't even bother calling them anymore. I have better things to do then sit on hold for up to 2 hours. Complete waste of time and money. I will not be renewing with them.

9195 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Who's side are you on Adam ? at 30 Dec 2010 04:20:23 PM
"We understand that this may be a frustrating time for customers however please remember to be calm and respectful to Vodafone employees".

Hang on a minute......who's side are you on Adam ?

Lets talk about the facts.

1. People have been cheated out of their hard earned money cause Vodafone got greedy, bought another company and their network could not handle the new batch of 3 customers. This is one part of a group of systemic issues and it is in-grained in the culture of the company. It is all coming from bad management and greed. Remember Onetel ?

2. The damage is already done, it's not about Vodafone working on a problem to resolve issues. Everyone one is having serious problems with their service and Vodafone have kept everyone in the dark cause they got greedy and lost control on many levels.

3. Vodafone does not care about customers it cares about money, they got caught out in a money grab.

4. The oversea's call centre workers are hardly calm and respectful to us ! There are the people who have to handle the fallout from a flawed company.

Join the class action and make Vodafone pay you back the money they have stolen from you.
30 Dec 2010 04:36:46 PM: The Facts? Your facts are incorrect. Voda did not buy 3, the networks are still separate so the merge has not effected the networks at all.
30 Dec 2010 05:45:57 PM: ^^This! LOL I put a number in front of my sentence so therefore it is fact!!!

Lets talk about facts!

1) I have no idea but I love to rant!

2) I just went full retard.

Join this pack of ranting fools that want to jump on the band wagon! Hurr durr.
30 Dec 2010 06:31:20 PM: I agree, it seems as though Adam is, for some unknown reason, selling out to Vodafone. FACT: the problems are still there!
I wonder if the Vodafone legal team have issued threats to Vodafail?
30 Dec 2010 06:59:37 PM: Telling people to act like calm and civilised human beings is not selling out! I am a fellow Vodafone sufferer, but I also have a close friend who is a store employee. He gets yelled at and abused at work all the time now - due to the company's incompetence and the customer care people being useless and rude. He is a good guy, but what can he do? He is upset at his company as well and I feel bad for him. I think Adam is just trying to be fair to everyone who has been hurt over this. We have seen comments from other employees saying the same things. Let's be tough on the Voda Execs, but not pick on the lower employees who are also suffering.
30 Dec 2010 07:09:26 PM: Adam is a thoroughly decent and honest person with integrity. He has not sold out to Vodafone.
30 Dec 2010 07:17:12 PM: Hi, I'm on the side of getting things done. I created this site to get Vodafone to acknowledge and fix the problems that I and many others are/were suffering with. Clearly I have gotten Vodafone's attention and now it's time for them to fix the issues. My issues are/were fixed when they agreed to let me out of my contract; that is the fix some people want while others might want free credit or just knowing when their reception will return to normal.

As this site has grown some of the comments have become increasingly threatening on both sides and that is personally and deeply concerning to me. I'm angry and frustrated about the mobile phone problem's I've had as you and many others are. However I've always differentiated between the casual staff member who sells the product and the company who makes that job increasingly difficult. The management of the company is responsible for setting those policies and when they change them the staff will be able to do their job better.

I have not received any legal threats (only the logo on the facebook group was taken down because of trademark infringement) and I have definitely not sold out. I'm not interested in selling and no one is interested in buying. I'll be maintaining this site until the main issues are fixed as I look forward to going back to my fulltime job and my normal life. Thanks. - Adam Brimo

15 Jan 2011 11:25:40 PM: To the original poster. As far as I know, Adam has never said he would fight your battles for you.By setting up this website, he has made it possible for people to realise they are not alone, and so they are not fighting the might and inertia of a large company, all alone and ignorant. He has posted different options available to you, and maintained this website at what has must been a huge drain on his and his friends's lives. He could so easily have just dropped it as soon as his own situation was resolved.
It makes no sense to treat the shopfront staff as badly as Vodafone has treated us- means that we don't have anything to complain about, if you think about it.
This evening, there have been so many Vodafone ads on the tv, full of promises, and I am infuriated by that.Doesn't mean I'm going to smash my tv.(Swear at it is an option-it doesn't have feelings)So, similarly, treat the bottom of the chain staff with respect, unless they're rude to you. I hope lots of them sue Vodafone for Stress compensation.

Been with Voda for years now. Ever since the full integration with 3 I have had issues. Just got off a corporate plan onto an Infinite plan. Got lied to by the 3/Voda rep about tethering charges. Customer service chumps don't know anything that isn't written in front of them. Reception barely maintains 3G and drops out a lot. I used to be on 3 years ago and left them to go to Vodafone. Now I'm back to the same issues I was with when I was with 3.

All I am trying to ring Vodafone for is to change my number to a pre-existing number...but do you think they could answer such a simple phone call...NO! This is the first and LAST time I'll be registering with vodafone and will NEVER recommend Vodafone to anyone. WORST SERVICE EVER...and to make matters worse, I rang optus to see if they culd do the job, and they answered their call straight away. You can't be telling me that Vodafone has that many customers to attend to that they are left with no customer representatives? Either Vodafone is a very unreliable provider or they just don't want to fix their customers problems...either way, this is quite pathetic.

There is your problem it is because vodafone is now using optus towers and network i am even getting same trouble with my crazy johns broadband....

I changed to Vodafone as I don't like Telstra, but now that I have changed I HATE VODAFONE with a passion. Every time I have to make a call I need to go outside my house and when I send an SMS 2 another person in the house they don't receive it for 24-48 hours... that is JUST SHIT... IF they don't pick up their game, they will leave no choice but to back to TELSTRA.

I have been on contract for 7 years and use voda for all calls and email in business. I use optusnet for email. Since sept I have been unable to directly access email via the iPhone icon. Instead I need to login to Optus webmail site. The nice people in India are pleasant but couldn't appreciate the inconvenience. I still have no direct email access today. I called the TIO and voda responded within 2 days. They offered me a getout now or half price access for 4 months to see if they could resolve the issue. As stated no success yet so we'll see. I doubt it will be fixed. My advice....go straight to the TIO if you have an issue.

Fortunately no employee (we do security close personal protection operations) had been affected by the bad service, but the company is going to take its busiess elsewhere because its the only way a big business will get the point - sorry Vodafone CEO no bonus for you next year

I have recently switched from 3 mobile to vodafone less than a month ago and now i rarely have more than one bar of reception wherever i go and i am rarely able to send an sms or make a call without some sort of hassle!! The service is horrible, i had no problems on 3 and now i am stuck with the shitty vodafone service. Also, when i bought my phone i had to ring customer service to activate my sim which i was unable to do for 2 days as "customer care" constantly put me on hold for 40mins and then hung up on me!! Finally after getting through, asked to speak to complaints department then was once again hung up on, disgusting!!

9168 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Almost complete fail at 30 Dec 2010 03:26:23 PM
For the last year and a half the service has been getting worse. I leave 3G off on my iPhone because it won't pass the call from 3G to 2G, just drops the call. The phone doesn't always ring, just goes straight to voicemail, even with full 2G service. Voicemails take up to 24 hours to come through. I complained in early November to Voda and were told to wait until December for the 3 towers to be amalgamated across to Voda customers. It seems to have gotten worse rather than better.

I have been with Vodafone for OVER 15 years. Their service, pricing and tolerance on payments has been unmatched by other companies. They were also comprimising when my phone was nicked and somebody clocked up loads of international calls. This has always made me very very loyal.

Up until last year, I would stand next to Optus customers in the CBD of Sydney and laugh at them for their service woes... but that has changed.

Where are you Vodafone, I used to gloat about you to everybody, now I am ashamed.

I've been with vodafone for as long as i can remember, and it's always been great service within the metropolitan areas & even large country towns. But lately - massive fail! I find myself turning my phone on & off multiple times a day to try & kick some life into the coverage and it usually works for a little while, but inevitably drops out again within hours. Calls dropping out, texts taking hours to reach their destination, 3G coverage is almost non-existent - I even checked my bill to make sure I hadn't been cut off for an overdue account, but no, i'm still paying my monthly bills as I always have, it's just not being reciprocated by Vodafone with reliable service.
FAIL.

9138 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is dreadful service at 30 Dec 2010 02:27:26 PM
I've been with Vodafone for years and was very happy with their service but the last few months it has been awful - dropped calls, incoming calls not getting through, texts take hours or days (or never) to reach me. My phone battery has to be charged every single day. I have to drive 20 kms to pick up messages and am at the point where I no longer bother taking my mobile with me in my immediate area. I complained (what a process! I nearly committed suicide) and was finally told that yes, the network is overloaded and no, there was no immediate plans for Vodafone to do much about it. Vodafone has offered to waive my exit fees if I want to get out of my latest contract and I'm going to have to do that. Not good enough Vodafone. What HAPPENED to you??

I have been with Vodaphone since I was 14 years old I am now almost 22, and since i signed my last contract almost 2 years ago I have had the worst reception imaginable! My mother lives in South Windsor and basically every phone call I make from here cuts out. I live in Mulgoa and i have no hope of receiving the slightest bit of reception. The rest of my friends and boyfriend who are with other networks have no problem in making calls or messaging or internet usage. I've had enough its so frustrating and once my contract is up I will most certainly be looking into signing up with another company. I pay $100 dollars a month for this junk and I don't see what I'm paying for! Enough is enough!

Locked myself into a 24 month plan only to discover that Vodafone's signal at my home is weak. Sometimes I have one or two bars, but calls regularly drop out. Probably 50% of the time I have no signal at all. My wife's Optus phone and my daughter's Virgin phone always have strong signals at home. We live in an outer western Sydney suburb. According to Vodafone's coverage map, we are in a strong signal area... false advertising is putting it politely. Looks as though I now have to go through some pain to get out of this contract.

A WARNING to all thinking of using Vodafone. I've always considered them to be the best. Not any longer. Customer service is only there to sell you a plan and or phone, nothing else. I, like so many have no service on my phone 90% of the time and sending a simple text message, well try 40 attempts for every 2 successful sent messages. Their service is rubbish. It's cost me hundreds of dollars up front for a service that does not work. Lost communication with my family and maybe even cost me my job....thanks SO much vodafone 'Power To You' and your Donkey Service!!!

9117 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Colosal!!! at 30 Dec 2010 02:02:54 PM
I am in customer service (NOT vodafone's) and have a spare phoneline next to the one I use for work. The spare line has now been renamed "the vodafone hold line" as I use it to be on hold from vodafone almost daily while I naively wait for HOURS to actually speak to a person to resolve my problems with the 2 vodafone mobiles I have. Problems include but are not limited to:
* calls dropping out mid conversation daily (phone is not the problem it has happened with my Sony, blackberry and Nokia all new)
* delayed receipt of voicemail/sms/mms (sometimes up to a week)
* Charging one of my phone accounts with monthly TV usage (this is the phone I have for my 13 yr old son. It is not capable of TV access. It is an E50! yet every month sure enough vodafone charges TV usage.
* They refuse to spell my name right on the bill yet expect me to pay it
* I don't get a response other than "we acknowledge receipt of your email" when emailing my complaints through! Good to know they've received my complaints but refuse to fix them (insert sarcasm here)
* Cap plans that include calls but not access to voicemail (is this a scam? I paid over $30 in voicemail usage charges last month because my calls weren't getting through and friends and family had to consistently leave me messages! My phone on and next to me the WHOLE time)
Funnily enough it isn't sufficient to have a line dedicated to being on hold from vodafone because even in the unlikely event someone picks up the line (yes it has happened several times!) it quickly proceeds to disconnect, prior to me getting any information out, ensuring my frustrations are ongoing and my problems never resolved....however my bills (which total about $350 per month)are expected to be paid and on time.
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo over it!!! Have never before experienced a company that goes so OUT of its way to NOT ascertain good service towards its customers.
My contracts are up in may and april of next year. I'll be ringing through to disconnect (if I can get through to someone who give a rats ...)
Get your act together vodafone.

spoke to voda earlier and they told me to go and get a new sim card which i just did.i have just spent another hour on the phone with them to tell them it has not fixed the problem.the service strengh seemed find in the suburb of Ryde where i just came back from. But as soon as i got back to Gladesville the signal strengh dropped back to nothing.Vodafone told me because it is a new sim i need to keep the phone under observation for the next 24-48 hours. Are you kidding maybe i should take the phone to the nearest hospital emergency to put it on life support and see if it performs any better.Give me a break .I guess i will be talking to them again in another 48hours.I am lucky in a way I only have to June next year left on my contract i wont be extending its a shame i have been a vodafone customer for about 20 years and my phone number is my date of birth, ah well time to let go.
30 Dec 2010 02:08:14 PM: That's really sad... But when you go with a new carrier can't you keep your old number? I think it's called porting. It would be a shame to give up a phone number which is your date of birth!
30 Dec 2010 02:37:03 PM: i have been using 2 phones for a while 1 for work and 1 private use so i will just use my private one, which is with virgin powered by optus which i have no problems with plus voda wont let me out of my contract yet
30 Dec 2010 02:42:11 PM: You should be able to keep your phone number when switching carriers (and it shouldn't cost you). Make sure you find out some info about that instead of believing what they might tell you. I remember when I switched TO Voda, I kept my old number and didn't cost me a thing. Now I'm switching FROM them this Sat and should be the same.

9098 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is A joke at 30 Dec 2010 01:26:08 PM
Two days after I received my BlackBerry, pressing the trackball would no longer work. The "Customer Care" line was answered by a speech recognition system incapable of recognising any speech and after much trawling to find a number that would put me through to an options menu, I was subjected to a two hour long wait before a human answered and provided me with, of course, a useless solution. So arcane and impractical was the repair process that I've just worked around the problem. Suffice to say, the Vodafone retail store experience was equally parlous, with bad attitude thrown in. Even the store manager put me through to a so-called Customer Care line which only resulted in another marathon wait. Then, it's the same story of no coverage, dropped calls, emails ostensibly sent but never arriving, achingly slow data speeds. I have never had these problems with Telstra and am now being punished for signing up to a cheap deal with Vodafone -cheap for a very good reason. I will continue warning everyone I speak to against using Vodafone's services, if it can even be called such a thing.

Great new I-phone I have purchased through vf but I can't use it 70% of the time as it has little or no reception, I've called vodafone customer care, networking, I-phone support and cancellations department, made well over 10 phone calls to have this resolved only to be told it can't be fixed. I asked to cancel but the best they would do is give me a reduced monthly contract rate for the next 3 months. Still not happy, when I find the time the ombudsmen is my next step. I have wasted so much time on this already I have told everyone I know about my experience with vf and they all agree they are poor at best.

I use this phone for my business and it has affected my daily work as customers can't get through to me and I can't call them when I need to.
I can't even make a call from my bedroom, couldn't call from a restaurant in the middle of Wollongong, and last weekend driving through sydney it was even worse.

I will never use vodafone again.

9072 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is nightmare at 30 Dec 2010 12:38:16 PM
My husband and I both have Vodafone prepaid phones- I've had the same number for about 13 years and his about 7 years. My phone service has been up and down over the years but nothing too bad lately. My issue is with the Vodafone wireless prepaid internet. I paid the $100 for the USB stick and then purchased the credit for a months internet use (on three separate occasions. The internet was SO slow that it took at least 5 minutes to load ONE page most of the time so I hardly got any use out of it. Despite not downloading anything, my "usage" showed that I had downloaded heaps of data from both 3G and GPRS which was definitely NOT the case. I can't understand why the reception was so bad when both our mobile phones work fine in this same area but the computer would only ever pick up a very weak signal at best. I needed this internet access for university work and can't afford a plan (besides, I wouldn't trust them enough to sign a long contract- lucky I didn't). I think my lecturer stopped beleiving the same excuse about my abysmal internet reception after a while. My main issue really, like many others is the call centre. When I call I am asked the same identifying questions by each person I speak to, many of them are SO RUDE- I can't beleive they are in customer service. They talk to me as though I have never touched a computer or phone in my life- so condescending and they obviously know next to nothing- usually the old "turn it off and on" advice- as if I wouldn't have tried that before calling these geniuses. Reminds me of the show 'The IT Crowd'. The wait is astronomical- often 2-3 hours but worse is when I've been passed around to so many different people, given my details 5 different times and explained a fairly simple problem and I get cut off (or hung up on when they don't know how to respond). I think they need at least one or two people in these call centres with some actual IT/mobile phone/vodafone knowledge who the 'phone jockeys' can refer to for advice to solve what is often a simple problem without just reading from a troubleshooting manual like we could at home.

I've signed a 12 month internet plan and have had some connection problems in the past but not as long as the one lately. For the past month I haven't been able to get onto the net and if so for about 5 minutes or so. I tried calling but there was a waiting time of 40 minutes. When I did finally get through, the indian call centre guy said that the problem would be solved in the next few days ( 3 weeks ago). I've then emaied VF and they have given me $39 credit as a "good will gesture". What's the use of giving me a credit of $39 when I'm using my mobie phone for my internet? The bill on my mobile is going up and I'm stuck with 6 more months on my VF usb contract.....I've then emailed VF once again and told them that I would like to break my contract if the connection kept failing and they advised me to call the 1555 number and call cetre. I don't think I can be put on hold for another 40 plus minutes using my mobile. Thanks for letting me vent alittle....

Calls echo, drop out, don't connect even in a good service area, some voicemails don't record. They keep blaming my phone. They have replaced my "free" phone three times in a year, and only because I complained to the TIO. The last phone they sent me came without a battery or charger and they wanted me to supply my own!

I can have full coverage on roaming one minute and "no network coverage" at the same place when a call comes in or I try to make one. I have been to the nearest store and the staff are obviously not allowed to say anything except "It must be your phone, we'll send it away for repair". Each time I ring customer service it is the same response. I'm now on my third phone this year and I still have the same, and more problems.

then my phone gets stolen, of course i have insurance because i had an iphone, then i call vodafone to block my sim, wait on hold for 2 hours, they then tell em they will call me back, wait another 2 hours. then they tell me i have to go into the shop to get a new simcard, so i do, and the system is down so i cant even activate it. then i want to activate over the phone that night, another 2 hour wait for a call. then they tell me i have to call the insurance place the next day, they tell me i need to call the police. then they tell me i need to call the shop and get a proof of purchase, call the shop and they say yeah yeah 2 minutes n ill send it.. 2 days later and they never sent it. so now i have to call the shop again who arent answering their phones now. absolute bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been with Vodafone for 15 years. I live and work in Collaroy NSW and have major issues with reception. I find it hard to even phone them to complain as it drops out before I can speak with someone. The last time I did get through it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to speak with someone. They assured me that they will look into it and called me back 3 days in a row to give me updates....but still I have the same crappy service. I also make a call it say's I have five bars of signal but the call fails. Or I sometimes am lucky to get through and then it just drops out. I am so frustrated along with many others I work with who also use Vodafone. I am at a loss as to what to do. I pay my bills by direct debit I have been loyal to the company and I have had massive spikes in the bills without changing my calling habits. I used to think they were a great company and now along with anyone that I try and call think that they are useless.

9031 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a bunch of idiots at 30 Dec 2010 11:14:05 AM
After being with Optus for 8 years without one problem - I stupidly switched to Vodafone as they were the only provider to carry a new model of phone I was interested in.

I made the switch and have had nothing but problems since.

Living in the inner west in Sydney I constantly get no signal and calls dropping out. It would sometimes take hours to receive an SMS. I had previously never had any problems with Optus at the same address.

I cant explain how frustrating it is when you really need to contact someone and you have no network coverage. You go through the process of switching the handset off and on. Turning 3G off and on. I have come very close to smashing the phone on the ground.

I could understand some people having network issues in regional areas - however i live in the inner west - 10 mins to the centre of the CBD!!!

I had enough so I thought I would call Vodafone and find out what the go is. First time I called in the morning at about 10am - the wait time was 35 mins. I tried again at 1pm - the wait time was 48 mins. Do they have 6 people working for the whole company???

I lodged a complaint via email and explained my frustration - two weeks later I back an email with a blanket list of things to try. I replied answering the questions - I have now waited a further two weeks with no response.

Why do we keep paying for a service that does not function?

I am unable to get useful service from a vodafone USB data modem. I used to be able to use it but now I am seeing speeds of up to 1,200 bits per second (yes bits per second) on data transfer. It is useless! However, vodafone are still happy to charge me the full rate for the data I can't send or receive.

At least I don't have to worry about their punitive charges for exceeding a cap. I just can't get enough data through in a month for that to matter.

Vodafone are engaging in deceptive conduct. They offer a device that cannot achieve anything like what they claim and offer coverage maps that do not depict reality. They might depict a salesman's dreams but certainly not what I experience.

The problems with Vodafail don't just affect those unfortunate enough to have signed up with this provider. My partner is on Vodafail and I can NEVER reach her. Its so frustrating having to leave messages each and every time. Just switched two phones from Three to Vodafone 6 days ago ( eg Xmas eve), I can not believe the "no service" that I am getting from the vodafone network. On the three network had 3 to 4 bars 80% of the time, I know it is not the phones as I still have the 8 old phones that all report the same thing, No service. At the end of the day I think that Vodafone can do better by the following.
1) update your coverage maps, its ok if you can not cover every where. Just don't lie.
2) Put a action plan together that shows the roll out of new towers.
3) Merge quicker with Three's network!

There is a saying, build it and they will come, so come on Vodafone build some infrastructure ( hell you have the cash, see profit report!)

maybe next xmas I will get a tower near my house/work so we can use these phones.

Ok after I lodged my complaint to TIO, Voda called me today. They gave me 2 options, keep my phone and pay $400 or do a "coverage check" - I told them that neither were good enough and wanted to speak to a supervisor - no one was or would be available - At all times I remained calm and wasn't rude to the operator, I expressed my disappointment and said I would consider my options. 1 hour later a guy called me back and offered to cancel my contract for $100 as the phone I have was worth $450 - DEAL................

So the moral to the story I can see is, they will get you out of your contract - AS LONG AS YOU ARE CALM AND POLITE. Thankyou VODA...Finally

9018 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the worst Teleco in au! at 30 Dec 2010 10:53:05 AM
The network has very little capacity to the majority of the Base Stations, Vodafone have done little to no upgrades over the past years. The fact that you are on a cheap cap plan, with a decent phone thrown it, means nothing if the network you connect through is rubbish and your carrier will not upgrade it.

With 3 now absorbed by VHA, their even smaller network that roams onto other carriers just so that you may stay connected, is even more of a joke. The 2 companies are well suited to each other!

Most asspects of the business are outsourced to 3rd parties, network run in India, network upgraded and maintained by other contract staff, in some cases, sub-contracted. All of this means that at the end of the day, most people doing network related build / repair just are doing a job and nothing else - i.e. they just do not care!

End result - a poor excuse for a network with a bunch of contractors tripping over each other to upgrade and support it, what a mess. No wonder no one can make a call or use Apps on a Smartphone! Get me out of my contract!!! It is not worth the paper it is written on!

My phone signal keeps disappearing to nothing and the only way to get anything back is to restart my phone. Calls are dropping out or simply just failing when I try to make them. My mobile broadband is another story all together, It keeps trying to change between all these different weird signals and when it does that connection stops, pages stop loading and I have to disconnect my device and start over... I called Vodafone earlier today and they flat out told me that there are NO NETWORK ISSUES, I beg to differ. If there are no network issues, why am I having all of these problems. The signal strength where I live has never been fantastic, but I've always had at least 2 or 3 bars of signal, now I'm lucky to have 1.

The service has gone downhill over the last 3 months, even at the old postcode of 2145 there were issues. When attempting to make calls, nil connection and the only way to connect was by turning the phone off and then back on. I also have a mobile broardband connection which is suffering terribly at 2747. When phoning over the holiday period I was told to reset my phone, search for a network manually and then was given a job # and advised my concerns would be raised with another department. That other department must be busy!!! The operator advised me that the CEO is aware of the company and I could get compinsated, I ended up with $25 credit on my bill. Thanks Vodafone, how about the CEO put his money where his mouth is and pays all his customers bills till the problems are resolved. I am regreting extending my contract with them!

I have been with vodafone for years they used to provide a good service - not anymore.
Visual voicemail works randomly. Sometimes I don't get my messages for days after. I sometimes can send/receive picture messages and other times they don't work. Basically the only thing that works is a phone call and even then it drops out ALL THE TIME. I am constantly calling people back in SYDNEY even in the middle of the city and saying 'sorry the phone just cutout!!!'
they are not proving a service anymore and they are charging there monthly fees regardless. I run my own business and if I gave people the sort of service they now give me I couldn't even send them an invoice out of business integrity.

My opinion is that Vodaphone have had more than ample time to fix issues. I have had majour 'drop out' issues going on for years. Every time my phone drops out and it also does it when I am on the phone and a message comes through, every time it does this its costing me and you of course to reconnect. I don't believe they have any excuse for this its simple, I give my money to them and in return I expect full service or money back now. But of course this wont happen so I say pull out now. Yes everyone should regardless if on a contract pull out now they can't prosicute everyone. I am gone and back to the evil Telstra it is.
30 Dec 2010 10:41:24 AM: I regret going on another contract and am stuck for several more months but tempted to pay the extra to Optus who give great prompt customer service (my home phone and internet now). They actually answer the phone within a few minutes and call back quickly when they say they will. I got sucked into taking a USB Broadband Mobile stick and phone. The former hardly works at all, phone conversations drop out frequently and I've had to wait an hour and a half to talk to ANYONE at Vodafone and I hate Lara! They were much better years ago. I just hold on until someone eventually answers. Never again unless there is a drastic improvement in network and customer service.

Having said that the reception since I got a new contract and an i Phone 4 it has been very patchy.I have complained and they said they were spending $400 million and it would be fixed in a few days. I am hoping they do.They have fixed their complaints service already by allowing you to elect to leave your number and they call you back when your position in line comes up and not having to speak to "Linda" but using the keypad instead.I have used this once and it worked well.I advised them that should they not improve their coverage I would be canceling my contract.

8988 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100% fail at 30 Dec 2010 10:08:18 AM
I have only recently become a vodafone customer (approx 5 months) and at first was happy with service. For at least the past month or two have had constant call drop-outs and non-existent coverage. I can go for at least half a day without being able to make or recieve phone calls, nearly every day. The first experience of this resulted in my boyfriend driving 30 mins to my house at 1am because of worry of what had happened to me when my phone cut out and he could not get back in touch with me to find out what had happened. Was a bit of an overreaction but is the sort of thing that can happen when your phone just cuts out suddenly due to service. Was very scary to wake up to someone buzzing apartment in the middle of the night.

The sad thing about their service though, is that when I signed up for my contract, the rep in store told me that soon 3 and Voda would be merging, and if coverage changed I would be allowed out of my contract. I can't believe that a rep from the company would be telling me on the day that I am signing a contract for their company 'don't worry, you'll be able to get out of it'!!

Calling 1555 is one of the most frustrating calls to make, and makes dealing with Vodafone extremely unpleasant. Whilst this website has said that you can have the option of vodafone calling you back, I have never been offered this option when calling, so am unsure as to how that works.

Am currently looking into other providers and will be changing as soon as I have found a suitable plan.

8986 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worse than you thought at 30 Dec 2010 10:07:52 AM
I unfortunately made a decision to join Vodafone (initally with 3, but would endup with Vodafone anyways).

I had to port three numbers and get a new one, so in total 4 postpaid plans.

It all started almost three weeks ago and after a friendly chat with the sales staff, i placed the order for my phones. They lost my order and left me waiting for the phones to come.

After spending almost a day to catch someone on phone, i got hold of the supervisor and he organised to send me the phones a day before christmas.

It took me a few days to find out how to activate and when i called them to find that the plans were listed wrong in their system. Were sorted in couple of hours of phone chasing, still waiting to port one number.

Opend the phone boxes, with no info or any contract with it. The brand new Nokia N97 mini has a faulty touch screen. Spent almost 56mins and call dropped, someone called back to tell me that i need to take it to a store and they need to verify if the phone is faulty.

Online account service shows entirly different and outdated plan info on which staff has no controll.

Frustrated an dcursing why i made this stupid decision. Almost a month gone and still chasing up...

I wander what will be in next 24 months?????

I too have been a long serving customer of Vodafone. Since 3G has become the major provider for phones these days, It has become apparent that the service is shocking. I also thought it was my new iPhone 4 after reading about its reception problems in America, however Apple insisted that this isnt such an issue in Australia. After discussing with friends and family (All too on Voda) I concluded that its Vodafones network issues. Dropping out in the middle of Conference Calls with over-seas counterparts, business deals, the phone is something you need to work when you need it, we shouldnt have to wait for the reception to pick up.
I also have a USB Modem with Vodafone, I often only receive 1 3G bar of reception if it doesn't kick over to EDGE network; and thats on the occasion it works at all- USELESS!

8981 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Prepaid. at 30 Dec 2010 09:56:33 AM
Not only is it contracts that the problems so do prepaid. I went overseas and I topped up my prepaid balance as I had alot of credit left I didn't recharge and Because I didn't recharge by the expirey date I lost all my vodafone credit when I rung to complain I was told that even if you have alot of credit you still have to recharge now that's what I call a rip off. My husband was going to NZ for 4 days he had $50.00 credit on his phone so he recharged only to lose the $50.00. They said they would credit it as vodafone to vodafone minutes. He got back on the fourth day recharged his phone and lost the vodafone minutes. He wants to know what is going on.

I have prepaid mobile broadband. It used to work sort of ok.Every month it is getting slower- current speed is 72 bps-just slightly slower than a carrier pigeon.I can rarely get 3G and sometimes I cant get any signal.I'm lucky -I'm not on plan.I've just got 8Gig prepaid I wont use.Tomorrow I will go and join up with some other telco.
They must be monitoring me I just got a 3G signal & 1.3kps.How i yearn for my old fast reliable dial up.

The Network Coverage.

I stay in the Homebush area of Sydney and have been staying here since past 3 yrs. I do use the 3 / vodafone mobile phone service but have been having problems of the network coverage since a long time. I have had dropped calls, no network coverage and also been charged for download even though I do not use it at all. I did complain to the customer service but no positive reply from them. They did tell me that they have checked the connection tower and alls fine at their end so asked me to change the place where I stay, which was like come on. I can't change my house for the sake of a network error. After a long arguement with the customer service the only thing they do is give me a one off $10 credit for goodwill on my next invoice.

Its not only that but all my friends when they come to visit me have the same kind of network problem, dropped calls and no service most of the time.

After this I decide to cancel my contract but they want me to pay the whole 24 month contract plant of $49 for each month at once and they will cancel my contract. I was not able to pay off the whole plan at one go, so I decided to keep to hang on with it.

But am really disappointed with the service vodafone provides.

Constant Network dropouts and poor reception. Currently been without service since 23rd December 2010... One Week with NO SERVICE!!

I also receive voicemails from OTHER peoples voicemail boxes. I get a phone call, answer the phone and then all these random voicemail messages from multiple peoples voicemail boxes begins playing back to me.

Vodafone has a lot to answer for and I have submitted my complaint to the TIO. Vodafone needs to release me and wife from the remainder of our contract with no financial penalties and we will port our numbers to another service provider who can provide the service they promised.

I have been a loyally Vodafone customer for over 10 years but in the last 6months the service has become so POOR it is unusable and I can no longer tolerate this unacceptable service.

It is almost 2011 and this type of service should not be allowed in this day and age.

Totally disappointed

I have consistent drop outs on my phone of calls, am missing calls and there are also problems with the delayed receipt of messages. All of these are on a phone I use for business and it dropped out when i was negotiating a contract, needless to say i looked like a fool. I thought i would call up vodaphone and see what they can do. i called 6 times in total, it dropped out twice whilst doing that. One of these calls i was on hold for 138 minutes and 57 seconds before it decided to drop out. these guys suck, go somewhere else for a phone

8935 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 30 Dec 2010 09:04:52 AM
I have a combo mobile broadband and mobile phone. Broadband is EXCEPTIONALLY bad and the phone drops out about 50% of the phone calls I make. I've complained bitterly and they keep telling me I'm in either a "dead" zone or a "drop off" zone, but I live in the northern suburbs of Sydney not in the outback - how is this possible. I am beyond frustrated. I think I've been with them for 6 months or so and have complained approximately twice a month since I began. It's got me nowhere. There was a brief offer of cancelling my contract the other day, but that was rescinded and they offered me half price for six months in the hope that they're service would improve and I would be happy. It just blows my mind that they think they've the right to charge the prices they do but the delivery is abysmal.

I regularly get bad signal in Sydney, not to mention Top Ryde Shopping Centre (strange, even at the Vodafone kiosk LOL). Christmas Day in West Pennant Hills - No service wahtsoever.
I have used Vodafone for quite a few years now, maybe its the merge with 3 that caused this problem, who would have thought that if you merged 2 retailers that youd get worse service?

8929 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolute UGH at 30 Dec 2010 08:56:13 AM
Yet another story to add to my list. Called vodafone and selected the "call me back option" Wow they really did call me back within 20 minutes. Did I get to speak to a soul? NO of course not. They ring me back.... They play my recorded voicemail/ name onleft earlier.... Then it just rang and rang and rang and rang for a good two minutes. No explanation. Am I hold again? Is someone ever going to pick up? Is this yet another little trick they have going to avoid talking to me yet again? Last time they transfered me then hung up.

Disgusted and irritated I didn't waste my time listening to a seemingly endless ring tone and hung up.

Thanks for the brilliant service. A month has gone by and I am still yet to have a conversation with someone.

I just want to get the heck outta my contract. 12 weeks til it ends and it just can't come fast enough!!

Calls dont connect, people calling me go straight to voicemail which means I have to pay extra to hear my message, and now vodafone is saying my last bill wasnt paid when it clearly was. Let me go back to Optus please... pretty please. You can keep your phone.
