Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

8339 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremly failed at 29 Dec 2010 12:08:09 PM
29 Dec 10. I have continously complained to Vodafone about its mobile and internet 3 g wireless connection. They just laugh and conduct themelves in very unprofessional manner - laughing at me - and doing worse.
Today I just phoned them as the internet is dragging slower than a snail. I was asked what area I was in. Sydney. He asked for the Post code... He then informed me that there it was an 850 area ......? and that is why it was dragging so badly. I loose credit on all these drags which is an epic tale all on its own. My mobile phone is always out of range - even in a major town! I loath them and will be changing very soon = to which worse provider???!!!! 'Give the people a break' is what I state. One is as bad as the other. TIO are useless and any other so called 'authority' who are suppose to assist us.... Class action the lot of the providers is my call

Poor reception in Inner West of Sydney, especially indoors. Unhelpful at both shop and on phone.
8322 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Now it's scary at 29 Dec 2010 11:54:37 AM
I'm 6ks from the CBD in Sydney and am recovering from surgery. I can't call anyone, I can't call Vodafone and any calls that come in go to voicemail. So not only is this a dangerous situation for me to be in, I'm also paying to retrieve calls. Vodafone, I've been a loyal customer for many many years but that's it. I'll be transferring to another company.
8321 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 11:50:48 AM
got approx 3 months to go on a two year vodafone contract. apart from the phone breaking, and being told there was nothing that could be done, i am extremely frustated with calls dropping out, texts not being sent nor received. But most infuriating was my $700 phone bill which i received and ended up paying because i could not have a conversation with an operator due to being cut out on. an unhappy customer tells on average 8-20 people of their poor service, thanks vodafone i have served you, the way you have served me.
8318 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is complete failure at 29 Dec 2010 11:48:34 AM
waiting for my contract to be up so i can move on from this mess.... calls dropping out, text messages days after being send and voicemail coming in at 2 or 3 am several days after it has been left ....... nothing short of a joke and as for customer service i am still waiting for them to call back ....
8317 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 29 Dec 2010 11:46:19 AM
I am lucky if I get a voicemail within 24 hours of one being left. Even though my reception is shown as being strong, I get constant drop-outs - not disconnections, but the call goes silent for a fraction of a second, so I have to ask the caller to repeat what they're saying. Considering I'm running a business, this isn't very professional.
Also, if I get sent a picture message, it will often take at least 24 hours to reach me, and when I send a picture message it often takes just as long to send. I have also had a few instances where text messages haven't been received by me or the person I've sent it to.
Then comes the data issue. Strong signal and 3G? Rubbish. Pages take FOREVER to load and mail often fails.
The 2 most common places I use my phone - St Leonards (60% of the time) and Gosford (40% of the time). Hardly the sticks.
Epic Fail.

8307 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible! at 29 Dec 2010 11:37:12 AM
I am with 3 Mobile, who I beleive has been taken over by Vodafone. I have to always walk outside my house to get reception, also at work (and I work 2 mins down the road from 3 head office) I get no reception inside our office and have to go on the balcony. Sometimes I look at my phone and it says "No Service" so I have to turn my phone off then back on but they I get coverage.. Customer Service at 3 Mobile is terrible also.
8306 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very at 29 Dec 2010 11:36:55 AM
vodaphone is so painfull the sooner my contract ends the better ,the sad thing is the they just sucked me in to a two year contract.
8300 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrible! at 29 Dec 2010 11:33:43 AM
- I originally wanted to renew my contract with 3 and was told that 3 and vodafone were merging so I may as well join vodafone now... I told the man serving me that I did not want an iPhone so he sold me a phone that was meant to be "easy and simple to use" - I took his word for it, when I got home it was samsung's version of an iPhone!
- Had a billing error at first so thought I would go into the shop as opposed to dealing with someone on the phone. Waited behind a couple who were getting an iPhone who were clearly friends with the girl who was working behind the counter... speaking in another language to each other, she left me standing there for 20 mins before breaking conversation to say to me "Im going to be awhile, what did you want?" (In a bothered tone), her solution was to thrust the phone in my direction to "call the help centre" - hard when you don't have reception to call or stay connected
- Living in a unit, my mobile is my only source of a phone... and I cannot get reception anywhere at home unless I'm pretty much laying horizontally in a certain spot on the balcony... move even a cm and the call drops out; try and send a message and it will pick and choose when it wants to send.
- Forget about getting onto the internet... when you do it constantly says, "request timeout" or is extremely slow!
- Will have full reception on the screen, go to make a call and won't connect - look back at the phone and I have no reception. I didn't even move!!!

8297 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dreadful at 29 Dec 2010 11:30:38 AM
Constantly losing signal completely and if I do have a signal it flutters regularly between good and very poor even when staying in one place. Regularly drop connection half way through an activity even when in the City. Live in Northern beaches and signal is non-existent or very poor more often than it is good.
8296 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 11:30:11 AM
Vodafone wireless internet - very poor reception around center of Blacktown, no reception around Bankstown Hospital.
Vodafone mobile phone - very very poor reception around Bankstown Hospital. Also the signal is intermitent.
Vodafone network coverage in Sydney is terable. The company does not invest in Australia just want to suck the money out of this country. We need Communism in Australia, we need one good publicly own mobile company. Capitalism and competition pail to delivier. The companies act like cowboys in wild west.

I'm not actually a Vodafone consumer but my partner is.Even as a neutral party to this debacle I'm still somewhat involved. 7 years ago I had "SERVICE" issues with a different Telco and beat them in court, forcing them to pay a full refund .So this should be a walk in the park, unless they backhand some poli to work in their favour and not the consumers..Viva la Revolution!!!
P.S. The last chq for $10 as part of my refund bounced,go figure....

8294 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is emergency calls only at 29 Dec 2010 11:29:24 AM
A mobile phone is to be used to make and receive calls. Until I saw the news, I didn't realised vodafone is in such a mess. Taking notice today, I realised my phone can't received or make calls as it's on "Emerg. calls only" mode the whole morning. So it really defeats the purpose of being a "communication" tools.
8293 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 70% at 29 Dec 2010 11:28:38 AM
Over the 18 months of my current contract the service has become progressively worse, particularly in inner Sydney. Calls now often go to voicemail without ringing and voicemail messages regularly come through 12-24hrs late. Despite a strong signal showing data connection is often non existant.
8292 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone is EPIC FAIL!! at 29 Dec 2010 11:26:29 AM
I Have been having connection issues for some weeks now since almost the whole east coast that was on vodafone lost service a few weeks ago maybe a little more than a month.
I am addicted to a game where items that monsters I kill in the game drop are worth actual money for some of them! and I collect these items and then transfer them to another character that needs them. I have had my connection drop now a few times while doing this (which crashes the game) and its not only my items I am losing, my friends also have lost items becausue of it :( I am losing thier trust in a game where I need them to be able to trust me and the connection I have to be stable at least :( as some of the items we have lost have been 1/1000000000 chance to find which gives them their value and then they usually hate stats on them x/x/x (x= strength, damage, %chance for stuff, faster cast, etc, etc which gives them very good value if there is good stats on an item that is already 1/1000000000.
This is not my only beef losing peoples trust in a game is just very frustrating
at the least
everytime I load a page and then have to refresh I am wasting money! say 10% of my downloads are from having to refresh and THIS, THIS IS WHAT SHITS ME!! and watching movies.... when they half load and then freeze or the connection drops.... sometimes I have wasted 200-500mb in a day on prepaid :(
Then there is the issues it gives me and my partner as I am very stressed out when my connection keeps going out making me lose items on my game that I have looked for for a month in my spare time, not being able to pay for things on ebay, trying to load a movie for me and her to watch and losing my connection and having to start again all these things add up over a few months and I have been making me easily irritable which affects my partner even though she rarely uses the internet. Also the Dreambook my partner bought me for christmas will never connect. Connect: (cannot connect to server) every time....
The absolute most annoying thing though.... after 2hrs on hold on an optus mobile I get someone I could not understand because of his strong indian accent and I told him I couldnt understand and to put someone on who spoke better english and I think his response was "i am speaking english" which took a few times for me to understand.. then I ran out of credit after being on hold for hours.... and had to go buy another $30 recharge card just to call them again. which I used a lot of to get back through to them..*which made me easily irritable again and i get snappy and only person to snap at is my partner of 6 years :( I am sick of wasting my time, money, energy and relationship on them but I really need my internet and cant really afford another internet stick and credit at the moment and I am sure Vodafone isn't going to buy me one I am sure they are quite happy with peoples money going down... THEIR DRAIN!!

I wanted to upgrade my handset to an Iphone. the consultant told me to pay last months bill (which was 1 day late) & next months bill - 2 days before pay & this should be shipped within a week. I paid this & my friend next to me at work ordered one when not entitled. we received a call saying they were out of stock and may take up to 5 weeks. she received her & mine was still "coming" 5 weeks later.. after it has been "lost in transit" another one is shipping out.
i spoke to 10 people & the courier company who both told me ANYTHING to get me off the phone.

8276 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 29 Dec 2010 11:07:31 AM
I have been jobhunting and have to give my a landline as my contact, because the likelihood of me getting a voice mail is practically zero. I have had voicemails and texts come though up to a week later. This has caused me to miss out on work. Cals drop out frequently, the coverage is absolutely terrible. I live 20mins from Penrith and have NO service at home. Often the phone call will simply not connect, this is particularly bad when I am calling someone who also has vodaphone.
8274 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failed at 29 Dec 2010 11:06:32 AM

I work in Homebush bay NSW and i have no reception with either my Sony Ericsson Satio or my HTC Desire HD. Both Phones run themselves flat trying to search for reception. Although where I live in the Blue Mountains the reception at my house isnt too shabby but only at my house. Everywhere else like the Great Western Highway in the whole Blue Mountains is very patchy consistently getting dropouts at the same locations every time and gets worse depending on time of day. At the top of Lapstone hill in Glenbrook is terrible, Warrimoo near train station and Woodford Bends. If it gets worse and no resolution is near I will move to Telstra and pay the extra $30 a month for a mobile service I will be actually be able to use.

I still have 12months on my contract and have massive black spots in service (Hunter Valley) with constant drop outs and disconnections in the middle of calls. Texts can be delayed for hours if not days! Not exactly what I thought I was signing up for
8270 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is internet connection at 29 Dec 2010 11:03:35 AM
My internet connection rarely connects above a poor signal. When I lived in Florey and now I am in Queanbeyan it is the same. I went to Vodafone at Belconnen and they told me their signals were strong for both areas. On their map of coverage both areas are shown as good coverage. Also I have a lot of dropouts especially after midnight. I leave the internet connected while doing other work and I get a tone and check it out and it says that no signal is detected.

I need a blank sim card to get my number back as my phone was stolen. I cant travel to the store 2 hours away, so they offer to mail me a sim which will take 3 working days ( over 2 weeks ago). I work for my self and my customers contact me via my mobile, I am unable to get calls and am loosing customers. I ring vodafone to find out when the sim card will be sent. This lands me on hold for 2+ hrs, then when i get throught I am told that the line is not clear and they cant hear me properly (I am calling from another Vodafone phone) HELLO VODAFONE THIS IS WHAT WE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT!!! poor lines no service.

I've always been with vodafone, never with another provider. Can someone from Vodafone explain how their coverage has become worse. I've read some of the comments here and can relate to all with dropped calls, bad or nil coverage, delay on voice & txt messages. I cannot understand how they have become so bad. I have had to travel on some of our major coastal hwys a few times recently and basically only pick up reception here or there, usually only a major town & never much out on the hwy making me uncontactable much of the time. About 8 months to go on my contract so I will be changing, probably to telstra (can't believe that), their service is terrible but at least their network is very sound.
8254 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mediocrity is catching with all corporations at 29 Dec 2010 10:44:59 AM
I live in the Sydney area and have been with Vodafone for many years. Since I upgraded 6 months ago to my new smart phone, I've had problems with poor internet service, barely any 3G coverage. I've also had sms problems but fortunately these have been limited. I rang Vodafone on an unrelated matter recently and was placed on hold on 2 occasions for nearly 20 minutes each time with no answer. I hung up both times with no answer. I will say when I was finally able to speak with a real person rather than Lara, the staff were very helpful. Its a shame that the staff are let down by poor service in the management of the company.

8248 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is $70 a month for basically a paper weight at 29 Dec 2010 10:37:24 AM
I am 20 months in to a 2 year contract and for the last 3-4 months I have basically been carrying around a iphone paper weight. Text messages take hours to arrive, voicemail kicks in before the phone rings on about 70% of calls and those calls I do try and take drop out within the first 30 seconds.
i chose voda originally as it had a pretty good signal in Glebe when I decided to invest in an iphone, I did all that I could to make the right choice (or so I thought) got pre pay sim cards for all the carriers and Voda seemed to be the one to go with for signal.
Cannot wait for the contract to end so I can move to another carrier, unless the can sort there s**t out before then. looks like Telstra is the go, more $$ but at lest they are being spent on actually having a service rather then money down the drain at the moment.
Thankfully I have a Telstra work phone supplied to me so I am able to use that in the interim.

I am constantly dealing with not being able to access applications, receiving SMS's MMS's DAYS later, phone calls that dont come through, friends/family/colleagues constantly complaining that they cant reach me. I have lived in two areas recently that are by no means remote and very close to Sydney City, why on earth should my maximum service bar be 2 the majority of the time!? Then to get any help/service I have to wait forever on hold to speak to someone who gives you advice things such as 'try turning your phone off' or blame the reception on the new Iphone. I have always had trouble dealing with bad customer service from Vodafone but am now kicking myself that I stayed with them as the service is only getting WORSE!
8244 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is WORST CUST SERVICE at 29 Dec 2010 10:30:48 AM
VODAFONE PENRITH WESTFIELD HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE HANDS DOWN.
Had new Nokia which died in 2 days. Got a new one which also died in 2 days. Checked another new one before leaving store which also was a dud. Vodafone stressed how much it isn't their problem and if we wanted to exit 5 day old contract and hand back brand new phone in box we had to pay remainder of contract so we are forced to endure 24 months of terrible service and customer service you would expect from a dodgy car salesman.
YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE STAFF PLAYING BALL GAMES IN THE SHOP WHEN THEY THINK NO ONE IS LOOKING.

8234 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extreme fail at 29 Dec 2010 10:20:26 AM
vodafone usb mobile broadband is useless. never able to keep a stable connection and will just freeze up clocking up time and wasted data usage just to reconnect and get back to the same place it previously dropped out. might get some high speed once a month for about 10mins then the rest of the month is a waste of time just getting a web page to open!
8233 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not Acceptable at 29 Dec 2010 10:19:14 AM
I have been with voda fail for near 10 years i make approx 2000-2500 calls a month not including calls received, the service use to be good but this year in particular 2010 its all changed and they dont give a shit, you cant even call them because it can take 2 maybe more hrs then it disconnects you, Anyone who wants to get out of there contracts need to get in touch with the telecommunications ombudsman, you will have grounds to get out of your contract basically they havent given you what was promised, I will be changing carriers this is just unacceptable people need to stand up and be counted
8232 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No 3G coverage/no Coverage at 29 Dec 2010 10:18:22 AM
I have been with vodafone for around 10 years, the service has just been getting worse, I am using an iphone but can not use 3G, if I put my phone on 3G service I lose all reception, I even got a new sim card as I thought that may help, I have tried the sim card in another phone still I get no reception if the phone is set to 3G service. I am trying to send a message right now I have coverage but the message will not go through!.There is no reception in Seven Hills area, I travel around Australia alone alot and most of the time I have no reception.
8231 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgraceful Service at 29 Dec 2010 10:17:55 AM
I've been with Vodafone for about 2.5 years. I saw one contract out (a corporate one), then a few months ago my partner and I bought retail iPhone plans. While the signal has generally been ok for us, we do live in the middle of Sydney and don't travel to outlying or regional areas very often. That said, in the last month, things have changed.
Recently, we've had many problems with undelivered and delayed SMSs and extensive delays with voicemail notification. Worse still, we've been unable to call out countless times over the last couple of weeks due to apparent network congestion. This is entirely unacceptable. Excuses of huge influx of customers and the takeover of 3 are invalid - Vodafone should have made provision for this from the outset. It only serves to prove how incompetent the management are at all levels.
Customer service at Vodafone is a complete joke, to say the least. I've made countless calls that have proved fruitless, often because I simply don't have the time to wait for hours for Mr/Ms Patel in Mumbai to answer my call, and when they do, I get no satisfaction other than insincere and rehearsed responses. Emails are seemingly not read by a human, as the automated responses (if you get one), do not address the original message.
I've also had reason to contact Vodafone on behalf of a friend who is on the same corporate contract I had until recently. Although the Vodafone website stated (at the time) specifically that calls to the corporate number 135888 will go to an English-speaking person located in Australia, they did not. They went to Mumbai, or somewhere in that part of the world. Despite that, I was thankfully able to avoid that stupid, time-consuming and frustrating Lara, which/who should be shot and buried, along with those in this company who have driven it into the ground in recent times. Nevertheless, the problems were not resolved, and that was two months ago. We keep trying.
Vodafone needs a shake-up. While all telco's suffer the same cost and customer service cutting drives, this is by far the worst in my experience. They are not providing the service that they purport to offer, which is tiresome, frustrating and costly.

I am covered by the '3G' coverage map where i live and i work in the CBD, but i can only manage to get 1 bar of service, or the phone is constantly searching, no service, or i dont get '3G' coverage. This is pretty crap service from a company who is meant to have coverage for over 97% Australia. Phone calls always cutting out and messages either wont send or are sent and received hours afterwards as well.
8227 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is What can we do?? at 29 Dec 2010 10:12:24 AM
The only way we can fix this problem and get the Vodafone/Three Telco's to listen to our concerns and issues is for a crap load of people (im talking about thousands) to cancel their contracts with Vodafone/Three and go somewhere else. Only than will they listen.
Once they see thousands of people canceling their contract will they wake up and do something about it.
At the moment, why should they. All you have to do is walk into any Vodafone/Three shop at any shopping centre and see the amount of NEW people joining up...
Its all good and well writing our complaints hear than doing nothing about it.
I urge all the Vodafone/three customers to call there service providers and demand to have there contract canceled because of the lack of service they are providing.

3 months into a contract- No reception where I work- In the middle of PARRAMATTA for goodness sake! Worse reception at home!! Absolutely no reception is shopping centres- bad when someone is trying to call you to remind you to pick up something you may have forgotten! I am happy with the phone and with the deal of being able to call 3 and vodafone numbers free of charge, in fact had converted all mobiles in the house to either 3 or vodafone (eight mobiles in all!).... so disappointed... we have 21 months of crap reception to look forward to. Vodafone you were on the right track, fix the problem please. My daughter is in Thailand WITH NO PHONE RECEPTION, despite organising that BEFORE she left :(
8219 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is What went wrong at 29 Dec 2010 10:02:32 AM
I was with Vodafone a few years ago and everything was fine. I switched to Three for a couple of years and no problems either. August this year I switched back to Vodafone to take advantage of a 'great' offer and based on my previous good experience. Oh how wrong was I. I have had nothing but poor reception, call drop outs, late messages etc. and now I know I am not alone. Bring on the Class Action and lets bring this mess to an end Now.

i signed up for a contrcat 4 months ago, before i signed up, i asked them to check that i would have good reception at my address. they did this satilite check and told me that i would be covered. But to my fustration, the downstairs of my gets no signal! i have to go upstiars. so the $750 worth of calls i get a month ... never get used im lucky if i get to $300. thats not value for money, i would have gone onto a cheaper contract.

8214 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Could it get any worse in such a competative market at 29 Dec 2010 09:53:47 AM
My husband and I have now suffered for 12 months of our 24 months contract with Vodafone using Vodafone Blackberry Bold Handsets. I am a full time working mother 32 weeks pregnant and a 2 year old at home. We have no home phone connected. A reliable mobile phone handset and mobile service provider is all I am asking.
VODAFONE PLEASE - release us from our contracts so we can find a provider that we can rely on should an emergency arise in our home. If I go into labour or have a sick child I have to leave our home and stand out on our street to make a phone call. We have stayed for over 12 months, I'm sure we have paid our dues.
Vodafone Service Problems
- No service coverage in our own home in Cameron Park (Newcastle) intermittent poor to no covereage within about a 2 hour travel radius in any direction. We have moved house and the problem moved with us. We are actually return customers to Vodafone and on resigning I was assured that their network coverage had been dramatically improved and I shouldn't have the same problems relating to service for our area.
- Made multiple attempts to call Vodafone Customer Service for assistance and are advised the wait could be anywhere from 20 - 40 minutes regardless of the time called. On one occasion when i could endure the wait I was told someone from technical support would phone back and I never received a call.
- Solution offered by Vodafone is to take both of our handsets into the Vodafone store they were purchased from (which has now closed down) and they will send them away for testing - another inconvenience. Also advised if I can't find our proof of purchase documents they can't help despite them having complete details of our purchase, handset, and contracts on file.
Vodafone Handset Problems
- Both Blackberrys continually turn themselves off, both midway through calls and while not being used. Progressively getting worse over time and now takes up to 6 hours to turn itself back. (I have a Telstra Blackberry (same model) which works without the same problems.
- Vodafone sends no notification to it's Blackberry customers of software upgrades or when they are available which are essential for efficient Blackberry operation. Have to search the web to find them yourselves.

8198 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is dishonest at 29 Dec 2010 09:41:23 AM
I have been having problems with both my vodafone mobiles for about six months. I was having calls divert straight to voicemail without ringing and then getting the voicemail through up to about 3 days late. Text messages were also coming through days late and on numerous occasions i was left stranded and unable to use my phone because it had no reception. After numerous calls to vodafone they convinced me that it was both my handsets (supposedly a coincidence - but they were adamant that it was NOT a vodafone issue), so i went out and purchased two brand new phones which it turned out i didn't need, because the problems persisted. I then spent 16 hours on hold over the next three days to try and find out what was going on. Eventually the ombudsman gave me the customer resolutions number - they again insisted there was no network issue and coincidentally both my new phones were also faulty. Even after the first news report about vodafones network issues started to come out vodafone were still telling me it was my phones ( all four of them that were faulty) not network issue. They even promised me credit which they never actually credited. Not only are they incompetent but they are liars - everyone of them.
8194 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is There all as bad as each other at 29 Dec 2010 09:37:35 AM
I live in Mascot, NSW (2020)
When i joined Vodafone sister company (Three) in June this year i was told from a three sales assistance (by phone) that three had great coverage in my area. I also doubled checked this up on three own website, which confirmed that there was good coverage in my area.
After than joining three, little did i know that the service of three in my area and most of the suburbs in and around my area of the eastern suburbs had next to no service at all.
I have to walk 50meters up my road just to get some sort of coverage. At my sister house in Botany 2019, there is no coverage at all. I also do notice when driving around the Eastern suburbs area my phone coverage will go from 1 bar to roaming.
I ring up there customer service centre and complain almost ever week and i always get the same excuse that there must be maintenance of the service going on in my area and it should be fixed soon (without giving me date)
They did tell me i could switch to Vodafone if i wanted to get out of my contract with three, but it would be a two year contract from date at switch not when i first joined three.
The funny thing is when im with friends at different places (Hunter valley or the Westerns suburbs or even down the coast) we compare our phone coverage. Most of my mates have full coverage at all theses places (there with the other big mobile company Tel@tr@) and nearly all the time i have no coverage at all. I than have to use there phone to make calls
Im now locked into my contract for another 1 and a half years. If i would have known how bad it was i would have just joined the big mobile company Tel@tr@.

Called customer service to upgrade my mobile 3 days in a row. Was placed on hold for over 30mins on every call (i gave up on all the calls as i had better things to do). I have never managed to speak to a real customer service person. Changed service provider in the end. That's when i discovered how bad Vodafone service really was. Vodafone does not email your pdf bills to you. You have to log onto the website to download your bills. When you cancel your account, they will immediately stop you from downloading all your bills... even though they keep sending you email notices to pay them. I require my old bills to claim from my company. Vodafone wants to charge me $5.50 per pdf invoice if they were to email me the invoices (invoices that were never emailed to me previously). I always thought it was basic customer support to email the invoice as it also serves as a receipt for previous months payment. This is the worse service provider i have ever dealt with.

Constant calls drop-out, network not available for phone calls, sms, etc for at least 5 hours on a Saturday, or for shorter period on a regular basis, data / internet network not available or very very slow most of the time. It took 5 minutes to load a web page!
8186 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 29 Dec 2010 09:26:42 AM
I live in the Wakehurst Parkway/Spit Bridge area of Sydney. Calls drop out and my phone goes into "SOS" mode in my house and on the roads near my house. I can pretty paint black cross on the roads where all the dead spots are between Warringah Road and the Spit Bridge. Addtionally my house is in an elevated postion, not in a valley so should be in a good position for reception. Also, while on holiday in Queensland near Bundaberg, I had no reception for a week while others I was travelling with who had Telstra services, could not only get reception clearly where we were staying, but also 40km out to sea. Roughly once a fortnight I get garbled interference on a call resulting in having to hang up and reconnect with the other party. I will NEVER use Vodafone again. As soon as the contract finishes (if I can wait that long) - its DIVORCE!
29 Dec 2010 09:29:02 AM: and in response to other people - yes I too have experienced text messages arriving up to 24 hours after they were sent to me, and vice versa.
8183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dreadful! at 29 Dec 2010 09:23:18 AM
I currently live in St Ives in NSW and about 6 weeks ago moved service provider from Three across to Vodafone because I wasn't getting good coverage on both my mobile and internet connection. Vodafone and Three are affiliated and Three advised me that this would be a good option due to the fact that the area I lived in did not and could not provide me with a good coverage. I was also given the option of upgrading from an iPhone 3 to an iPhone4 for no extra cost on a plan. At first the mobile coverage improved substantially, then about 10 days before Christmas the coverage kept dropping out until all I could receive was the odd intermittent voicemail or text. It was extremely frustrating as I am self employed and I rely on my mobile for work. Then on 16th December, my partner was involved in an accident and he tried to contact me but couldn't get through and could only leave me a voicemail. I received this as I was driving and had to race home to get a spare mobile (with Telstra connection) to be able to call and discover that he had been taken to hospital! It was an extremely anxious and scary experience. We all rely on mobile phones for our communication needs and especially in an emergency but this was just unacceptable. Two days before I had attempted to contact Vodafone but I was advised that the call wait was in excess of 40 minutes. I then called Three who put me directly through to Vodafone. They advised me that they would have to test the area coverage and would get back to me within 72 hours. Seven days later I had a voicemail message from a technician to say that he was very sorry but there was nothing they could do because I lived in a "bad" area although they were attempting to improve their coverage there - a case of like it or lump it!!! On Saturday 18th I visited a Vodafone shop who advised me that it most likely my phone that was the problem, not the service but could only suggest that my phone be sent away for repair and would likely take a few days. No loan phone could be offered as a replacement - so I would be left without a phone altogether!
I am writing this from the UK, I arrived here on 21st December to spend Christmas with my family and the service has not improved, in fact it has got worse. The coverage is intermittent, but mostly non-existent. I tried to get the advice from a Vodafone store here in the UK and they advised that it wasn't the phone that was at fault, it was definitely the coverage.
I was relieved to read the internet news that there is going to be class action against Vodafone as this has not been a good experience. I will definitely not be paying my bill and will be changing service providers as soon as I return to Australia.

8179 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No point even having a phone at 29 Dec 2010 09:20:25 AM
I rarely have service and when i do it won't make a call. People try and call me and get sent straight to voicemail because i never have service. I can't send messages without at least 10 attempts. Then on the odd chance i can make a call it will drop out half way through! and somehow my phone bill is MORE than it ever has been...but surprisingly...can't download my bill online! SO over vodafone if i was in contract i'd be changing for sure! i'm even thinking about changing anyway and just paying out my contract. No point calling Vodafone cause i can't get through cause it will either drop out or say the waiting time is longer than 45mins - then i'll get charged for it! so frustrating!

I connected a 2nd business phone to my account 4 weeks ago, and to date can not still send or receive sms to this phone and number, despite numerous calls to their data team ( may I add 2 hours in waiting time) the problem has not been resolved, know how are you supposed to conduct business with this sort of debargle. Let alone the fact my phone gets full reception at my place but my mobile broadband only gets 1 bar and consistently drops out. And to top this off traveling by train on Sydney's Lower North Shore to the city I experience 6 complete signal loses, yes thats right in the heart of Sydney reception is just not there, arnt we living in the 21st century and doesn't vodafail claim to reach 98% of the population????

I have been a vodofone customer for years and this past 2 months have been the worst i have ever experienced.I'm constantly experiencing no reception call drop outs, connection errors and network busy. It is extremely frustrating not being able to call people when you need to. It causes me severe frustation and anger.I wish vodadone would just sort out there mess or reinburse some costs for the constant call backs i need to make when the call drops out.
8169 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor at 29 Dec 2010 09:12:45 AM
I have been with Vodafone for just over a year. I gave never experienced reliable service, and over the last few months it has gotten worse. I live in Roseville and in a bit of a valley, so weak signal there was never really a surprise, but now I get complete loss of service about 50% of the time. Here are some other examples:
1. The 3G performance is slow most of the time, no matter where I am and even with 5 bars signal strength.
2. I have experienced being in the middle of Canberra City and losing 3G coverage when I needed it.
3. Performance generally in Sydney I find to be very patchy at best.
4. Last week I was in a car (as passenger) and on the Hume Hwy at Campbelltown there was no 3G at all for many miles and at times there was no service at all. So I was on one of the major highways, at one of the largest suburbs of the largest city in the country and I couldn't make a call. I wonder what would have happened if we had an accident and I needed to use my phone for help?
5. At one time in November I had no service at home for nearly two days. I called Vodafone on my landline and they swore there was no outage. The person then said they would put me through to a second level of support and hung up on me. I couldn't be bothered calling back and waiting on hold for another half hour and explaining it all again - somehow I think they are ptmrobably well aware of that....

Then this story went to air two-three days ago and a day later my signal strength went to 100%..... very strange...almost like they have been conserving energy by lowering tower performance and signal strength.
And after travelling with mobile internet around the north coast of NSW - even inner city port macquarie has virtually no signal - not quite 98% i think...

Well where do I start, I live on the south coast of nsw and the overall vodafone reception is very very poor! Forget using 3G on vodafone im lucky to get one bar of service in the city!! My messages arrive 2 days late, my calls drop out, i receive messages 1-2 days late. Could you imagine if im in an emergency?? Who do I blame then, hmmm makes you think! You sign the contract which states vodafone has 98% coverage, well what a load of crap that is. Vodafone is having a lend of all their customers and just like to palaver us! So lets get together and get this issue resolved quick smart!

29 Dec 2010 10:43:03 AM: Adam Should be given an Order of Australia for his service to the Australian Telecommunications Industry. This website and class action is what is needed to shake it. The industry and govt agency want to divide and concur customers who complain. As can be seen from Vodafone's spin doctor's comments above united customers and a class action are their biggest fear.

I dont understand my bill and they cant seem to explain it to me, even if I get through to a real person. I am on a $79 plan a month which gives me unlimited texts and I dont really use it for the web. I keep an eye on the calls I have made and STILL there are always random extra charges that make my bill from $100-$130 per month which is just too much. I dont get it!! So frustrating. Am locked in for two years so that teamed up with the call drop outs is almost enough to make me write the money off and go somewhere else.
8122 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very disappointing... at 29 Dec 2010 08:46:25 AM
At present my Vodaphone coverage is ok though calls are still dropping out occasionally; this could be cause I'm in Sydney, a major city. However, up till a few weeks ago, I had major problems not receiving voicemail/text messages, calls constantly dropping out etc. I spent at least 8 HOURS QUEUED ON VODAPHONE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO TALK TO ME, not including calls that dropped out after 45 minutes waiting. When I accidently got locked out of my online Vodaphone due to incorrect password, it was quicker to wait 24 hours and try again than try and call Vodaphone to get it reset!
I eventually got a replacement phone under warranty as the seller thought the software might be the problem and <touch wood> my voicemail is now working ok.
My impression is that the 'old' Vodaphone was great, their call centre was in Australia and calls were answered quickly. That was one of the major reasons for me choosing Vodaphone, that their call centre was NOT in India like 3, who I had major problems with. However, since they took over '3', the problems have escalated and they don't seem to be doing anything about it.
So I'm very disgruntled...
Take care

8121 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is nil since switching provider at 29 Dec 2010 08:46:23 AM
OK. Want to get properly connected?
I sometimes wonder whether the problem with VodaFail is that its network is stuffed at the design level, and they don't have the skilled engineers to fix it. Hiring extra sales staff is more up VodaFail's street. Does anybody know whether they outsource their engineering side?
Stop being unconnected while waiting for the possibly impossible to happen.
So go on paying out your VodaFail contract, so that you don't fall foul of a credit rating agency. Then grit your teeth, or take a valium, and immediately get a second contract with another provider that has excellent coverage and fast connections. In other words, cut your losses. The double payment will not go on for long, and is a small price to pay for being properly connected.

8113 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Too Unreliable at 29 Dec 2010 08:41:58 AM
Signal drops in and out like you wouldn't believe. I would expect better as I live in a city and Vodafone claims to have a better network than anyone else. Frequently comes up as No Service. 3G drops out constantly also and when you can actually get on line it is very slow. Also Voicemails are not coming through until a couple of days after they have been left. VERY FRUSTRATING! Like many people on here though - I'm stuck in the contract....

I had an iPhone 3GS on Contract, my Email was going into the outbox, then sent items but for over a month, it was not actually making it to my clients. I had thought all my messages were being received & there was no declaration on Vodafone web site as far as any outage or service issues. When I spoke to Vodafone they confirmed there to be a problem & they were 'working on it'. Vodafone refuse to put such outage in the public arena! I have ported out from Vodafone to Telstra due to the problems. I cancelled the contract with Vodafone & threatened to taken them to Supreme Court after they threatened to put an adverse CRAA on my record. They quickly dropped this. They did not after this contest my porting out & dropped the remainder of my contact. I have had to enter a new contract with Telstra for a further 2 yrs, but I now have great coverage, no drop outs & mail actually gets sent! This was not the only issue, but it certainly cost me a lot of money due to email failures.

To use my Vodaphone mobile I have to stand in my front yard to get a signal. 4 out of 5 calls drop out within 5-10 seconds.
The government want to spend billions on broadband when I can't even get a good reliable mobile signal in Australia's biggest city. What a joke!
Whoever is running the legal campaign against Vodaphone- take them too the cleaners.

EXTREMLY BAD RECEPTION, I HAD JUST CONTINUED MY CONTRACT AFTER BEING A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO VODAPHONE SINCE 2006. I upgraded from an old phone to an IPHONE. NowI had bad reception in areas before but it wasnt as bad, but now that I have 3G internet I use my phone alot for that and it is VERY VERY SLOW and in most cases doesnt have enough reception to work efficiently. On an $80 per month plan I have been advised I can get the same plan with better reception for a much cheaper price with Optus. Problem is Im stuck in this stupid contract.

Pre-paid is charging double most of the time I call. My contract is $49 a month which I could use $300 a month, but I can't use that much credit every month and so vodafone sometimes makes it more and more money every time.
The company cut of my phone number on September and they are still charging me. I have used my phone for many years but when they cut me out, my old friends have no contact with me anymore. Then this month, I don't know why, he charged me$142 when he already cut off my phone number.

Sometimes we get reception in the kitchen, then other times people tell us that they have been trying to call us for hours but the phone is out of service, yet we have not moved it from where it was when we had reception.
Lately, I have been UNABLE to print my bill up from the internet. They want us to access our bills from the internet, yet I can't get to it. I refuse to pay the bill till I see the whole bill. So what do they want......

I am with the 3 network and they were fine until they were bought by vodaphone. I am on the $69 plan and was paying around $70-$80 a month. As soon as vodaphone tool control my bills are now in excess of $200. I have done nothing different in the way I use the phone. I was not informed by 3 that they were being sold to vodaphone and when I called them, after hours of being on hold, their help desk was anything buy helpful and I was left with no questions being answered. I am now stuck with a rediculous plan that doesnt meet any of their side of the contract, no reseption and no way out of the contract for another year. This phone company is an absolute joke and I would even say it is a crimanl act.
