26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have 2 iPhone 4's with vodafone and when I am with my partner at his house the reception is fine but I have trouble connecting to the internet and even though we have wifi the phone keeps dropping off the wifi connection even though the laptop has wifi still. Before i joined vodafone I checked to make sure that I could get reception in my area as sometimes we have trouble with other companies. I checked and it said it was perfect reception with a big smiley face so we willingly joined . Then i get back to my house and I have nothing but call failed over and over again when I can finally make a call It goes distorted and then drops out again. I rang to complain to vodafone and the call centre operator was even getting annoyed with my poor line and the phone cutting out and them having to call me back over and over again. Other family members of mine are with the 3 network which shares the same towers as vodafone and as wel all know they are not linked. My sister can change from 3 to vodafone with out having to cancel her contract but when I asked if i could go from vodafone to 3 I was told it was not possible and i would have to pay out my contract and sign up with 3. I did not want to do that because I dont see why I should pay for something that I can not use. I have asked them for a reduced plan and told them I was not paying extra for the phone as I was lied to and told that I could use vodafone freely and they told me it was not possible. I asked if they could reduce my bill for this month as I have not been able to make calls and 8 out of 10 messages fail and i end up deleting them and not bothered to send a message at all and they still rejected that as well. I feel that if something does not happen soon and vodafone can not come to the party and start looking after a customer better than what they are then I will be forced to contact the telecommunication ombudsmen and see if they can take this further as my attempts to talk to a manager with in complaints is never followed through.
I dont understand if you are one day late paying your bill they cut your service but they can not provide a service for them to bill you on!

I was\am with Three on a plan. I had a call on Saturday from Vodaphone saying that they now owned Three and I had 6 months left on two of my phones on contract and therefore I was entitled to change my phones. I wasn't really interested but the rep said I could have a HTC Legend and if I selected a Nokia as the other phone they would throw in a wireless dongle with 1Gb a month download free plus the new pan had more calls, unlimited calls between Vodaphone and Three mobiles etc. As I was already paying for a dongle then I thought yes why not and went through all the T&C's on the phone and agreed. Got a call from them this morning saying that sorry the rep didn't explain things properly and I wasn't entitled to the phones in question and that they "would" provide (without any charges)2 Nokia's as compensation for the stuff up. I replied that no the agreement I made and was for the HTC and the Nokia with dongle and this what was no doubt recorded. I thought that this agreement was legally binding and therefore they had to provide what was agreed by both parties. When my current plan ends am I going to renew? Do they understand that it's a lot cheaper to retain a customer than to find a new one?

18197 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Fucking Fail at 30 May 2011 07:17:53 PM
I signed up with Vodafail not long after arriving in Perth. Im situated less than 1KM from the CBD and couldn't even use my iPhone for anything. Stupidly i also bought a Vodafail mobile broadband modem and credit. After many angry phone calls, emails and tweets ( all of which they replied with their stock standard bullshit - it must be your fault ) I switched to Telstra, perfect fucking reception everywhere everytime.

I sent a tweet to Vodafail telling them that i had fixed my problem by switching to Telstra and they replied that they were very happy that i resolved the issue. WTF

Vodafail - I hope your nuts are infested with the lice of 1000 dead camels and that you also have arms too short to scratch them with.

18162 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 50% discount for 3 months fail at 27 May 2011 06:50:51 PM
I applied for a pocket wifi plan $39 in a store and they have a promo 50% for 3 months. So when I got my first bill, I was billed in full so I wonder why the promo did not happen, then I rang them and the Indian guy told me that wait for 4 months sir cause it will be deducted on your fourth month bill. ok I waited for 4 months, then 4th comes but still no discount were found in my bill so I rang them again. this time an Indian girl and now telling me that they don't have promo during that time WTF. I told her that I called on my 1st month but the Indian guy told me that it will be credited in my 4th month but its not happening. So I decided to cut-off my connection. Be careful on any promo from Vodafone cause its not true.

18104 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Super-fail at 24 May 2011 08:13:26 AM
If, for reason of outstanding balance (as little as a week), Voda decide to disable my service, I notice the following;

- My phone actually continues to operate normally as if nothing happened /provided/ I do not switch off/on or otherwise reboot the phone. I have successfully sent/received calls and SMS during at least one period recently when I know that a linked service on another SIM was disabled.

If Vodafone in their infinite wisdom, a wisdom that knows no bounds, decide to re-enable my service (given that I AM a long-standing customer who has never failed to clear all debt within days of realising my dilemma), I then notice the following;

- Dependent on the state of the previous cosmic phenomena, my phone may -appear- normally registered to the network when in fact; it does not receive incoming calls, does not receive incoming SMS/MMS, does not allow sending of SMS and.. and.. wait for it, does not allow outgoing calls but provides NO indication whatsoever as to there being a local issue, with the remote number dialled just returning an engaged tone or similar.

Being ignorant of any problem, I have then gone for /weeks/ without important communication. Contacts are abhored at the fact that I have not replied to important SMS and that my number is unavailable for long periods of time.

Would Voda care ? I'm willing to guess.. not.

18100 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is brain disabled at Vodafone at 23 May 2011 08:25:21 PM
sales guy from Vodafone called, offered complimentary upgrade to quad band usb modem. Said it will dramatically improve speed in central melbourne as they have new 850 network.
recived and tested new modem - same speed of around 1mbps. Asked the same sales guy to organise the return of the supplied modem.

This brain disabled person cancelled all mobile broadband I had including the old one that we had no intention to canccel.

When calling vodafone support guy tells me that I called and requested the cancellation which is of course not the case.

HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE CAN BE SO BRAINLESS?!!!

I bought the Vodafone pocket wifi after the guy at the Vodafone store told me it would work better than the mobile broadband usb stick which I had and gave me such poor coverage.

Turns out he lied...the pocket wifi is even worse than the usb stick and I get little or no coverage at all now.

I went back to the store and told him and he said it was too bad as I had signed up to a plan.

Seems like they'll tell you anything to get a sale then they don't want to know you after that.

I joined up on the business plan of vodaphone last year( so I can claim some calls back on tax), I received a brand new sony xperia x 10 @ $80 per month plus Insurance and internet which came too $100 per month. July was when I signed up for it, I recieved a threatening letter late september demanding $200 that was overdue and any failure would result in a mark against my name on the crediting sytem. After informing the powers that be and paying them the said money owed,I then informed them that I will not pay a bill until I have received one in the mail and not before ( a small charge added for paper bill but worth it!). Then my phone started playing up, y'know, miss calls, line drop out, internet stalling, programs failing. This I could handle, putting it down too latest gadgets bugs. But then the ph would just turn itself off for no reason, sometimes Im on a call , sometimes on the internet, sometimes on its own accord. It got so frustrating that I took it in for a service around the 20th of december last year, where the shop kindly gave me a loan ph to use in the meantime ( a nokia slide ph worth only $150, with only a tenth of the gadgets that I had on the xperia and the screen size dropping down to a mere 1 inch) and I was grateful for the staff for the ph for calls! I received the phone about 14 days later( missed out some super new years eve shots), had the ph for about a week and same thing was happening, ph was turning itself off. (The staff at the shop were very understanding to my frustrations and assisted wherever possible, supplying a new battery thinking it was battery failure, sitting on the ph talking too Vodaphone I.T. etc etc) I took the ph back and I informed them that the same problem was happening in that the ph turned it self off, the staff just gave me that "Oh Yeah " Look, like I was making it up, but as the staff member was holding the ph it just turned itself off, it was funny to watch the expression suddenly change too " geeez, he's telling the truth" Look, lol, I had too laugh. Anyway, they sent the ph away again, and three weeks later I received the ph off them, all I did was go home and try too turn the thing on and this time it just wouldnt turn on, took it back and even the staff were flabbergasted, they tried changing batteries, plugging into the power but whatever they tried the ph would not turn on. they were on the ph straight away, explained what had happened to whoever it was on the ph and I got instructed that another new ph would be sent out in a week or 2 on their express urgent delivery,. Well I hate too see slow because I received the ph in 6-8 weeks later, but the ph wouldnt accept the sim card, the staff tried and tried again, but nothing. That ph was sent back and I rang them about 4 weeks after that to discuss my bill which was $200 overdue again, I explained to them that why should I pay a bill if I dont have the ph to use, I was prepared to pay some of the bill for the ph calls but I refused to pay the full amount until I received my sony xperia x 10 back which I had signed up for! I was then told that my bill was scrapped and that I could do a swap ph, so swap my xperia for another ph, the gentleman helped me to choose a ph and I chose the HTC Desire HD in replacement for the xperia ( The reason why I hadnt received the xperia is because they were out of stock and it never entered into anyone's mind to inform me of this). A week later I called vodaphone and asked where my new HTC ph was? I was then informed that the staff member I spoke too didnt have the authority to do the swap and I would have too wait for the xperia. Well folks, here's the situation, I have been using this loan ph since december 20th of last year, out of the $100 per month I have had 3 months swayed, I am still yet to hear from vodaphone or anyone in what is going on with the ph I signed up for?? So the good news is Im getting FREE ph calls, the bad news is no phone!

18087 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I'm Gone!! at 22 May 2011 08:17:06 PM
After tolerating atrocious coverage/reception with Vodafone for 2 years since I moved to my new home in a Brisbane southwestern suburb I now find their new voicemail system isn't working properly either. I spent nearly 3 hours on the phone to them on 4 separate calls last weekend and its not fixed...and another 4 hours on 4 or 5 calls this weekend.
Now I am told the coverage issue isn't going to be fixed in my area either....no work is planned.
So, sorry Vodafone....but chase me for my $$$. I'm off to the local Telstra and Optus stores on Monday to see who can give me the best deal. Vodafone can take a flying f#*k. I'm gone...and I suspect a large chuck of their new clients will be pulling out too when they realise what a mistake they've made by hooking up with Vodafone.

Isnt this Illegal ? A company operating - overcharging on Bills ? ( Fraud) Call Drop out so you ring back again ? ( Thats a scam to me ) Not complying to there standards, Count me if I am wrong but if an individual was operating like this what would happen ? Please Someone need this clarrified other wise I will open a company and do the same thing as nothing is happening to this company there still operating

my wife recharged succesfully on the 8/5/2011,she placed $30.00 in her balance as she recieved a msg to recharge before the 10/5/2011. Once she did this she had confirmation that she recharged with $30.00 as the phone msg advised her recharge was successful. less than a week later she goes to call me only to have a voice tell her she has insuficiant funds. she has 56 cents in credit which mind you she had before recharge but has been msging ppl till she went to call me.my wife rang pre paid customer support only to be told unless youve still got the voucher we cant help you, who keeps there voucher after confirmation they have successfully recharged. They told my wife is she can find it in the rubbish bin though the rubbish bin was emptied last week.So there quick to say to her even though you rang recharge number how do we no you recharged, so there calling her a liar to, mind you this is call center in india or wherever they are. Yet they couldnt exsplain how she was able to msg ppl over past 3 days on 56cents but were going to investigate cause they were losing money, but yet they buggered up my wifes credit but are not willing to investigate to where or how its gone missing, only exsplanation they can give is that my wife is lying.Il fight this and will join action on vadafail as when i had broadband contract they were shocking as to is my phone service with them as just me alone vodafail have cost me over $1200.00 in calls due to drop outs and very poor service let alone no covrage, wheres there upgrades they claim to have made. 17982 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Promotion Call - Melbourne Suburbs.... at 16 May 2011 04:03:16 PM
Haven't seen anything simular on the net yet.. YOU MIGHT FIND IT INTERESTING>>>OR EVEN COME ACROSS THE SAME GUY.....

I am having the same issue with Vodafail as anyone else. No coverage, constant calls to Customer Service etc.

Listen to this...

I was on $130 Business Unlimited Cap.
Due to low coverage at my add. they reduced it to $99

It even got worse, so they reduced it to $79 unlimited 2 GB Plan.

2 Weeks ago received an SMS from Vodafail, saying due to " July 2011 network upgrade" they applied 50% waiver on my plan for 3 month.

So I will be paying something like $40 for unlimted plan. (2GB is sufficient)

IT GETS EVEN BETTER.....

Last friday 13th May 2011 received a call from a BLOCKED number...
It was VODAFONE... The lovely gentleman introduced himself as VODAFONE STAFF and told me he has got a great offer for me....

I was curious and I went with the conversation - as I know already the deal I am on is due to the lack of coverage, frustration, endless calls to and from customer relation team - so I was wondering how come they can't see that on my account....

Anyway...He asked me for the PIN etc. etc.

He told me ... He can see that I am a HIGH SPENDER and he would like to reduce my plan.
So I asked him oh ok, how much am I spening at the moment.. He told me around $130 per month ... ( not sure where he got that figure from)

He then said yes for this particular mobile number THAT is the average you are spending..

NOW when he said what the mobile number was - I started to be very suspicious.. HE was looking at my Vodafone PREPAID NUMBER that does NOT EXCIST since 6 years... :-)

I asked him to check the coverage at my address, (Vodafone already knows about my area that there is no or poor coverage)

It took this gentleman over the phone not even 2 seconds to check the network coverage...and said, yeas you have exceptional coverage...

THIS IS ANOTHER HIT>>> He then asked me what time is the best to come and visit me at my HOME to talk about signing up for a plan... He would send someone to come and visit me...WHAAAAT???!!!

I asked him wow is that something new....? There was no answer to that, he persisted for me to give him exact time and day that I am available....

Asked him where he is located, as I would like to visit him and he said MELBOURNE CITY Call Center... I said, I am not sure that there is a vodafone call center...And his answer was ..........( a suburb approx. 8km away from the CITY) so not IN MELBOURNE CITY>.....

The ALARMS in my head went off, and I asked to speak to a Supervisor.
Spoke to him immediately, and confirmed that they are not a VODAFONE Call Centre, they r just a shop... VODAFONE DEALER ( selling phones and other stuff) .... He kind of was putting it back on my and said...well you have given us the PIN number so we can look into your account....
Well, I did yes, only under the understanding that he was calling from VODAFONE Call Centre.... and not from a dealer shop somewhere in the suburbs.....

He of course appologized, and said sorry about that etc. etc. etc.

Thought I might give you a heads up on my experience... A new thing vodafone is doing? I am also taking this further with vodafone, as I am concerned about my privacy - as those people introduce themselves as vodafone call centre staff where they r not.

18 May 2011 06:41:31 PM: Reported this issue to Vodafone...Today I was meant to receive the call back regarding whats been happening. They haven't put any notes etc. on the account.

They telling me now we will call you now within 24 hours. A JOKE!!!
31 May 2011 08:13:05 PM: I had something very similar happen to me at around the same date. I'm based on the gold coast and a caller gave me the same intro but highlighted the fact that he was "not trying to sell me anything". As soon as he said that, alarm bells went off and I became cold towards him. When he felt that I was onto him he toned down and asked if I was happy with my infinite 45 plan, I said yes, he asked if I was looking at getting any additional phones, I said no. Then he ended the conversation. It sounds like dealers are fishing around using the vodafone database of customers. MAJOR PRIVACY ISSUES - ALL CUSTOMER MUST BEWARE!

For yet another time and time again Vodafone has failed to deliver sms sent from my g/f from her Vodafone mobile. Multiple times! When she finally calls me and is very annoyed that I haven't replied and blames me all the time about messages that were never delivered to me. Vodafone, this is blatantly unnaceptable! The worst part is that you charge for these sms that never make it to me. I feel like throwing my useless phone against a wall. If this was any other business you would be sued and out of business in a heart beat. FALSE advertising and an absolute JOKE of a network, if you can even call it that.
And a word for your "customer service" people. Speaking to a computer... DOES NOT WORK and when you finally get to talk to a human that can't help, then what is the point? A total waste of time.

Since December 2010 Vodafail has been billing me $15 for an additional handset, which would be fine if I had ordered one or received one. Every month for 5 months I have been ringing customer support and after 30-45 minutes on the phone I have been assured that the problem has been fixed. And every month I get a new bill there it is again. The last time it was explained to me that it was a billing problem, well I think I got that! By which I eventually released they were trying to explain that they could not fix it because billing department had not replied to their email yet. I guess it does not occur to anyone to pickup the phone or something. I'm on my last contract payment this month and now I have to call them yet again!

call drop outs, delayed sms, cannot send mms. Cannot load safari searches or use the internet to you tube or play words with friends! Can't sign into my netbank to transfer money when I need it...the list goes on! Called twice about the problem and was advised that network problems will not be fixed until July - therefore implying that I had to put up with it for another 2 months or so. Told me to give them addresses and postcodes of every area that I visit so they can tell me if I can use my phone there or not - Why would I NEED a 'MOBILE' phone that can only be used in selected areas~! Plus I DO NOT KNOW where I'll be going for every day of my future life!

Every single time I'm transferred from one part of India to another they ask me the same questions I told the first - Your name, phone number and PIN. Why on earth do they bother asking you to enter it into the phone in the first place?! Cause the first person to pick up the phone STILL ASKS!

No customer service what so ever. Biggest waste of time!

17909 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Unbelievable at 12 May 2011 02:12:00 AM
I had signed up to a month-by-month wireless broadband as a temporary solution until ADSL was installed. 2 months later it was no longer needed. I went into the store and was told I needed to call over the phone to disconnect. That was fine, I'm a big girl, I can call myself and I don't care if it's overseas or god-forbid they have an accent, doesn't bother me.
What bothered me was it took 7 phone calls for absolutely nothing. Each time I called they transferred me around from one department to the next, obviously uncomfortable with the idea of me disconnecting. I even lied and told them I was moving overseas the next day. They offered to suspend my service until I returned, so I told them I was moving permanently. I was then transferred to their "upgrades" department who were the "only" people able to disconnect.

Complete bull shit. I work at Telstra so I ended up porting my number out to telstra and disconnecting it there.

Honestly, I don't want credits, I can pay my bill when its owed. Sometimes people just want to disconnect and move on with their lives!!

I switched from telstra to vodafone, bad mistake!
everytime i make an international call there is a 3 second delay on the line. I have no problems receiving calls from international numbers. I have contacted vodafone on several occassions for which they have told me there is no delay, never has been, never had a complaint about this at all. They have told me it is my phone so we change some settings on my phone...i make an international call and nothing changes. truth is they use cheap lines (or whatever they are) to call overseas so you get the delay. They still manage to charge huge rates for this...better off with telstra.
i found their customer service EXTREMELY rude and patronising. I tried emailing them as i was on hold for too long as well, they replied by saying that my case was closed and to stop contacting them!!!!!
great
i never thought I would say telstra was good, but after being with vodafone i will gladly go back to telstra!

17677 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Historically stressed at 4 May 2011 03:43:42 PM
Everything was wrong. Call quality; drop outs; invoices not arriving by email as I apparently changed it; call centre merry-go-round; Lara!!; emails not sending; SMS taking hours to leave a handset; new handset - got a virus; lied about "cooling off period".

But.....

Finally agreed to release from one contract without penalties - had to return new handset, and another for drastically reduced penalty.

Then.....

No satchel arrived to return phone; second satchel requested; two satchels arrived; phone returned; verbal agreement not on record; $2,000 bill; angry customer; phone not recorded as received; helpfull supervisor (in India); Australia Post system confirmed return of handset; returned phone located as received in different system; verbal agreement found and accepted; final bill for legitimate voice calls waived due to further disruption (i.e 1 hour call to complain about $2,00 bill).

Faith restored - will not discount them as potential supplier when they get their mess sorted out.

They know that they have some serious problems, and if you get through to senior people - they seem to do the right thing.

If you are unhappy (as I was), then complain and see what they will do.

4 May 2011 06:29:46 PM: How did you escalate to chase up the satchel after the first one did not arrive
5 May 2011 10:01:44 AM: I have a similar issue.. the satchel didn't arrive so i have not chased them up,.. nor have they chased me up... when they do i'll return the handset.

I was informed by vodafone that my handset was the reason why I was getting bad reception/dropped calls/talking to robots sounding voice etc. I had a Blackberry Storm so it was at the time a good phone. I upgraded through thier loyalty program (PFT what a joke) and got a HTC Desire HD (What I would consider to be a top of the range phone) and my reception is evn worse. I live in metro Adelaide and cannot get reception in my lounge room. I was at the shop yesterday and could not make a call as I had no reception at all, Then I figured it out. Although I had walked into my local shop, I must have been incorrect as to the placement of said shop, whereas it is obviously located on top of a mountain in a foriegn country where I cannot get a signal.....silly me. In short Vodafone lied about my reception handset issues and tricked me into signing a new contract, issuing me with a new phone (Goodphone mind you) and delivering the same useless reception that I had before. NOT HAPPY!!!

I am finding that vodafones software suite is falsely reporting epic speed when the truth is it is horribly slow, the suite sometimes reports 1MB NOT Mb, MB while download speeds and ping times reflect more like 20-30Kb's of available bandwidth!!!! i understand vodafone are currently in-broiled in a giant law suit but come on this is just plain lying!

I'd been a Vodafone customer for 8 years. When I wanted to switch to an iPhone 3g I actually asked when I signed up if I would be able to send and receive emails - YES, OF COURSE they lied, knowing full well the troubles I, at that time, knew nothing about. I was able to finally cancel the contract and return the iphone after days of being lied to by those lying idiots in India, and yet they still keep sending me bills for this now non existent account. Total arrogance from the fools in India. I am now with Telstra, much happier.

The single most worst mistake i have ever made in my life.I never should of left telstra. I can't stand VODAFONE. I hate my phone. 17270 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 26 Apr 2011 07:10:04 PM
I recently complained about my service levels... Now I used to live in Bacchus Marsh and used to get OK 3G reception... I moved to Southbank 3 months ago and I have no more than 1 bar of reception in my apartment or at my work on Flinders Lane, Melbourne... Frustrating!!! When I spoke to customer care and was informed the following... That A - My last bill was going to be credited onto my account and B - I would receive 25% off my next 3 months bills... I was feeling good again.. Now a month later I received my bill and well firstly i was still being charged for the previous month, secondly the 25% had not been applied and thirdly I had been charged for international calls... Ummm as far as i know to make international calls you need to know people international... I was really annoyed so I called them back to speak to them... All they said to me was that because the notes on the system did not state the A option I was not entitled to this.. I said that I do not think that it was fair that I was paying for a service that I was not getting... The customer service team then said to me that because it was the technical team that I spoke to on the first call that they would need to call me back in 20 minutes after speaking to the tech team..... 7.5 hours later they called me back and said the same thing that because the notes did not state that I was having a bill waivered that i was not entitled to it... I also asked about the international calls and was advised that i would still have to pay for them... I asked to speak to the team leader and was told that was pointless as i would be told the same thing.. She also stated that the team leader was in a meeting.. I said i was willing to wait for them... She can back after 20 minutes on hold and said that the 25% discount was being applied and that the last months bill was being waivered but would still have to pay for international calls... I said fine I will call the TIC

I contact Vodafone every single month in regards to our corporate account. Every month they continue to fail. There are billing errors after billing errors and every time credits are meant to be applied or issues resolved THEY ARE NOT. Customer service reps lie, to contact them it is a nightmare especially when trying to navigate their call centres and I am spending hours on managing my phone service.

The reception is so bad I have suffered lost business and disgruntled customers.
I have not even begun resolving the poor service as I am still trying to resolve billing issues. If I decide to ignore there mistakes my service will be disconnected and false debts transferred to collectors.

I am being harassed and bullied by Vodafone and their incompetence.

17155 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is 6 drop outs in 4 mins at 26 Apr 2011 02:39:24 PM
After using Vodafone for 6 years I have finaly gone over to the dark side... I am with telstra now.

There have been times when I have been making phone orders and my mobile would drop out every 10 seconds! After holding for 45 minutes to speak to a customer service rep about it the call dropped out :/

I went into a vodafone shop to ask what was going on (this was around a year ago) and I was totally lied to! They said it was due to maintenance on the 3g tower in the area I lived in. Said to turn off my 3g and it will work again. What a lame solution. Its a SMART PHONE for crying out loud! I use my 3g (or tried to)!

So in the end, after multiple call drop outs and failed attempts, I left. Nothing else left to do really. Its not going to be fixed any time soon.
30 Apr 2011 10:05:23 PM: You 3G enables you to connect to the internet at faster speeds, as well as receive MMS. If your 3G tower was under maintenance then your 3G is down. Despite this, your phone will continuing trying to pull bandwidth through this tower. As there is none, it will fail in this and you will receive poor service. Turning your 3G off will switch it to a lower GHz, which will be working, and allow you to make a call no worries. At the sake of your internet you will be able to use your phone. If this is a problem then it is your fault for becoming so reliant on your phone.

I recently purchased a $39 pocket wifi broadband on a 12 month contract, I was advised that my suburb was well in the Vodafone coverage area.

My problem is that I'm constantly required to refresh my web page for the past month. I've reported it to Vodafone & they replied that there is currently work being undertaken in the area & advised me to be patient and wait till the work is complete & if the problem persist, report back to them.

Also, the customer service on Hotline 1555 takes an average of 15 to 20 mins to answer their calls. I hope they sort this out soon as I'm paying a subscription for nothing.
25 Apr 2011 05:43:28 PM: Can be busy some days like any service provider, di you describe in detail the real issue or just say it doesn't work? Cos that will get you no where. Explain in more detail your problem please.
26 Apr 2011 05:21:51 PM: @ 25 Apr 2011 05:43:28 PM: Mate, he has written the post. Why should he go into great detail for you? It's good enough for me, the bloody thing runs like a dog, nuff said.
30 Apr 2011 10:08:19 PM: He wasn't requesting that the issue be explained to him, he was saying that if you explain you problem to customer care in more detail then they will be in a stronger position to resolve your issue. Simply stating 'my internet doesn't work, fix it' will get you nowhere. Also, I would love to see the call centre that connects you almost instantly. 15-20 minutes is very good.

16899 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is PATHETIC at 22 Apr 2011 11:02:40 AM
I have been dramtically overcharged on my bill (overcharged in excess of $100 in all cases), 3 times over a 7 month period. Every time the bill arrives I have to review it, and then spend at least an hour trying to get through to customer service (while continually hearing some cheery recorded voice tell me they will be with me really soon!) and convince someone in India that there actually is an issue with my bill. Three times Vodafone have been unable to explain the billing issue, and after many hours of my time spent to convince them, credits have been applied each time. The most recent time this occured, it has taken me 2 weeks to get Vodafone to understand the issue and admit the bill is not correct. I have now received my latest bill, and discovered they are charging me a $10 charge for late payment on my last bill, all which was due to me trying to chase them and get someone to understand and then correct their issue in the first place.
Vodafone's service is an absolute disgrace. You have to ask what the management team is actually doing in the organisation to allow it to get this bad! The incompetence is staggering!
I've wasted enough of my time dealing with this incompetence, and now moving my mobile and my wife's mobile over to Optus! Well done Vodafone - another good customer you have thrown away!
25 Apr 2011 09:30:23 PM: Hate to tell you,but optus has just as bad shit reception, they have heaps of issues lately, i know heaps of people wanting out of optus, for bit extra $$$ go with telstra......
25 Apr 2011 09:37:03 PM: It would have been an automated charge, so it's not really anybodies fault and they could credit it straight away. But I agree with the above poster. Optus have massive issues with both service and support. Telstra is expensive but the way to go.
30 Apr 2011 10:12:11 PM: If you went in to a store and had them walk you through your bill then they would most likely be able to explain why you were being overcharged, or rather, why you were being correctly charged. If it was incorrect, they would be able to call and have it correct. If you didn't pay your bill on time they have every right to charge you a late payment and, as the above user stated, any incorrect charges can simply be credited back to you.
2 May 2011 01:53:46 PM: Your joking right. Another Vodafail person trying to make things sound all nice and rosey. You are a tool. Have you ever tried walking into a Vodafone store? If your not there to get a new contract or to purchase an accessory, then they dont want to know and tell you to call 1555 to get it sort.
30 Aug 2011 06:24:57 AM: That is absolutely correct. The stores will not assist you unless you're getting a new phone & new contract or purchasing accessories. They tell you to call 1555 to get it sorted. Absoluletly pathethic.

I have been overcharged, simply they lied about their free phone on the contract and charged me $5 extra on every bill + their extraordinary poor customer service
promising they'll fix it with next bill every time I called. All this with their poor network coverage and never working internet and 3rd grade handsets. After paying them 4 months on their false commitments, I have decided not to pay anymore...
18 Apr 2011 04:18:13 PM: So you don't get in trouble for not paying, file a complaint with the TIO. In the complaint you can put in the amount you are disputing in your bill and you won't have to pay until it is properly investigated. Check out of the how to complain page for more information on that.

16797 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic, Epic Fail at 15 Apr 2011 12:03:18 AM
Long story is long.

I only switched to Vodaphone around a month ago. I had started having problems with Three (bad data coverage, late SMS delivery - or no SMS delivery at all, a monthly bill that seemed to be a rip off in comparison to the mobile contracts of my peers etc etc) and after two ranty calls to Three customer care, a nice man from Three called me at seven am on a Saturday, apropos of nothing, to offer me A DEAL.

And because I am a sucker, I took it - despite a chorus of my well informed friends screeching "NO! NO! VODAPHONE IS THE DEVIL!" at me. And despite the fact that I knew, in my heart of hearts, that the problems I was experiencing with three (excluding the rip-off plan I was on) were probably linked to the merge with vodaphone.

They lulled me with their siren song of opting out of my contract, a brand new handset, and zero cancellation fees. And now they have me right where they want me: on a 24 month $45 infinite plan, with $10 handset repayments every bill.

At first it wasn't so bad. I did notice some patchy connectivity, especially with data coverage, but it didn't really cause me any major inconvinience. I am not -terribly- bothered if I can't check into the train station, on foursquare, on my way to work in the morning. Sure, it's a service I am technically paying for - a reliable internet connection of my smartphone - but hey, what's the very occasional outage, right?

Only in the last two weeks, it hasn't been the occasional outage. It's been 'no internet for you!' at least 50% of the time, despite the fact that I live ten minutes from Perth city, work in the CBD, and rarely venture farther afield than the inner suburbs.

And then there are the calls that people apparently made to me, that...I never got. Strangely this seems to mostly happen when other vodaphone customers are trying to call me.

And then yesterday, I experienced exactly the same problem that I was having with three last year. I had arranged to meet a friend for coffee, but a work meeting ran late and I had to text her to cancel (couldn't call as I was in a meeting). I sent her a message and received no reply, but figured maybe she just hadn't seen the need of a response. Around forty minutes later, I got a message from her saying "I'm here...where are you?". I sent her another text reiterating my first message, and adding "...did you not get my first text?".

No reply for awhile, then another twenty minutes later "...um, ok, well I've waited nearly an hour now so I guess we'll catch up another time. Bye."

Vodaphone. This is bad. When I tell my friend, later, "Oh shit I am sorry, I did send you a text! I don't know why you didn't get it!" it is going to sound like a crappy excuse. In fact, it IS a crappy excuse, because I've just wasted forty minutes of my friend's time because of your fucking fail telecommunications. You know the irony? Yup, SHE TOO IS A VODAPHONE CUSTOMER. So, basically, you can't even send text messages between users on your own damn network? Seriously?

Now obviously in this case, no greater tragedy befell either of us due to this telecommunications glitch. She got forty minutes of her time wasted, and I feel like a dickhead because of it. Nobody got hurt. Nobody died. But what if I'd been trying to make a call to emergency services? Or organise something more pressing and important than a coffee with a university colleague?

I'm not naturally a 'complain-y' kind of person, but I called vodaphone customer care today to chase up these issues (my data coverage, and this issue texting this friend of mine). I made it very clear to 'LARA' that I was making a complaint, and was put swiftly through to a customer service rep (points to vodafail for this one - at least I wasn't on hold forever).

The lady I spoke to was a very good listener, but did not offer me anything in the way of empathy or support. There were lengthy pauses after I'd spoken, and at length, the best she could do was offer to put me through to tech support. Now, to be honest, having called vodafail with a legit complaint, and having made it clear that I don't feel this is a problem on 'my end', and that I am very dissatisfied, I kind of expect to be offered some form of compensation. Obviously I am deluded, in that regard, but anyway...

She put me through to tech support, which seemed a bit pointless since I was pretty damn sure none of this was my problem, but I went along with it anyway, thinking perhaps tech support might enlighten me as to what sort of network issues they were experiencing that would mean someone ON THE SAME NETWORK was unable to receive my messages.

I reiterated the same story to the tech guy, who gave me the knee-jerk response of "Have you tried turning it off then on again". To which I replied "Yes" and reiterated (again) that this was a problem I had previously had when I was on three, that I knew other vodaphone customers had had problems with data coverage and messaging, that I was pretty sure it was an issue on their end, and that I was very displeased with it.

He then proceeded to ask "...what do you want me to do about it?"

Yes.

The customer service/tech guy at vodaphone sullenly demanded WHAT I WANTED HIM TO DO about my problem.

I was pretty dumbfounded by this, to be honest. I replied that I had really only called up to register a complaint, that I was fairly certan he, personally, could not 'fix' my issue, but that I was hoping that by registering it as a problem he could tell me a) whether other people had been experiencing the same issue and b) what VODAPHONE were going to do about fixing it and/or compensating me for a service that I was paying for and not getting the full use of.

He proceeded to ask me for the number that I was calling from. I should note that he had already taken this number down when he first answered my call, so quite why he needed it a second time, I don't know. Then he asked me for the number I was having problems texting (this is after me having to explain, repeatedly, that I was able to successfully call and text SOME numbers, just not this particular one - that I knew of). I had to go into my phonebook to get the number, but I managed to read it out to him.

After he had taken it down, he talked to me for a few more minutes, then said "...so what was the number that you were having problems texting?"

Um. Really? The number I gave you a minute and a half ago? The number you JUST WROTE DOWN (presumably?). THAT number?

When I informed him that it was the number I'd just given him, he mumbled something that I didn't quite catch. I then asked "Sorry, what was that, I didn't quite hear you?"

The line was silent.

"...sorry?" I asked again "I didn't quite hear what you said?"

Nothing.

".....hello?"

At this point I checked to see if the call was still connected. It was, but Mr Vodaphone didn't feel like talking anymore, apparently. I was so sick of the whole 25 minute conversation, at this point, that I just hung up.

I should also note that my first bill, which should (I thought) have been $55 (45 infinite + 10 for handset repayment) was $86. When I called about that, they informed me that as it was my first bill I was charged from the moment I began using the service, and for the subsequent billing period, but honestly I am a bit lost here. Does this mean I'm now paid up for a subsequent month? How does this work? Looking at my bill online, I certainly don't see that I've gone over my data or anything, so it shouldn't be additional fees for going over my cap - they've charged me for a month + the one or two weeks I was using the service before the billing period kicked in? I want to see a itemised explanation of this, but I assume I'm not going to get one...
15 Apr 2011 12:28:33 PM: i have had this exact same problem with the coverage for text messages, except it only sends messages which are less than 1 part in data charges, otherwise the message seems to not get through. if i try and be smart to get around it by sending two separate 1 part messages, neither of them make it through. i don't know whats going on there, i'm not even going to waste my time calling customer service after reading your post, the only option seems to be to ditch this crappy service and go with someone more reliable.
15 Apr 2011 01:02:29 PM: you have to make a complaint here: http://www.tio.com.au/ComplaintForm/ComplaintFormS1.asp

it takes 5 minutes, you'll speak to an Australian (and usually a pretty smart one), and they will actually achknowledge your problems AND issue compensation. PLUS there's the added benefit that when you lodge your complaint, Vodafone actually get fined =)
30 Apr 2011 10:20:24 PM: If you read the contract when you connected with Vodaphone it says (paraphrased) that you will receive two charges in your first bill, the first is a pro-rated amount from the time you start using your new Vodaphone service until the time your billing period starts (appox. ten days from when you sign your contract), the second is your first bill in advance. The pro-rated amount is a case by case basis, however if it transpires that your are already at your first billing period i.e. through a migration or something to that effect, then they will simply charge you the first month as would normally have happened, then the second month in advance. It all works out in the end and you do not get overcharged.

I've been with Vodafone for about 3 months now and its only taken me that long to have had enough of their ridiculous crap they call service.
My phone calls continuously drop out, I've had to call people back about 3 times to actually be able to finish the conversation we were having. Not to mention the thousands of times when it doesn't even ring, and just says 'call failed.' I've had bad reception before, but Vodafone takes the cake by a loooong shot.
The last few days i've had people tell me they've called me multiple times and left messages on my voicemail. I have not received any missed calls and no voicemails. So either, all these people are lying to me, or Vodafone has something to answer to.
This is ridiculous, when we pay for a phone service, we should get a phone service. If I knew this would be a feature of their 'infinite cap' I would never have signed up for it. I'd rather pay for service I actually GET.

So angry!
26 Apr 2011 10:39:49 PM: I found the exact same thing! I have had people say to me they have been calling me fortnightly for months and leaving voice mails and I told them I had no record about that at all it sounds like such a pathetic response but it was true! Last last year in 2010 VodaFone my bill displayed an outstanding amount of 600 dollars to which I was very perplexed as I was on a $49 dollar cap for nearly the past two years.

I immediately called up customer servie and after having patiently waiting for 20 mins i got to the accounts department where the international lady very calmly stated that the bill was changed in july 2010 and i was sent a text message of this... I stated that i never recall such a text message and if they wanted to change my cotnract and plan then they could have had the decency to call me. The international lady then replied " we cannot call everyone" and me stated "YES YOU CAN"

i stated i never consented to such a change and would like the bill changed to the orignal amount of no more than $49 a month.

I had to have "the manager" call me back and after looking at the fact that i had been a customer for over ten years that they would change one of the bills!

hence i still owed 300 dollars - which is when i stated that if they did not change both bills then i would go straight to consumer affairs!

I HOPE THEY DO NOT TREAT LITTLE OLD LADIES LIKE THIS!

Since switching to Vodafone 2 months ago, I don't seem to receive some text messages and it is limited to the one person who is on Optus. However the person is adamant that they replied to my text, has no real reason to lie to me, but these message don't seem to turn up at all. It seems to be a sporadic problem which makes me wonder if this person is just lying.

Also been having problems with the phone not ringing, poor battery life, and trouble sending texts.

5-April-2011: The local 3G tower in the NSW Central Coast (Lisarow, Ourimbah, Niagra Park Area) the tower is currently down since 6am this morning on and here is the response I received from Vodafone:

Question: Vodafone coverage within Australia

Answer:

Our GPRS (2.5G) network covers 92% of the places you live and work in Australia. 3G available to 94% of the Australian population. Capital cities and larger regional centres operate on UMTS 2100MHz and smaller regional centres on UMTS 900MHz. 3G services are available in Vodafone's 3G areas - compatible device required. In metropolitan and some regional areas, Vodafone's 3G network operates on UMTS 2100Mhz. In smaller regional areas with Vodafone coverage, Vodafone's 3G network operates on UMTS 900Mhz. All 3G 900Mhz devices available from Vodafone are 2100Mhz compatible. However, not all 2100Mhz devices are 900Mhz compatible. Customers with 2100Mhz devices that are not 900Mhz compatible will experience GPRS (or Edge, where available) coverage in 3G 900Mhz areas. Slower speeds can be expected outside Vodafone's Mobile Broadband areas. Individual customer experience may vary - many factors affect access, capacity and speed. See www.vodafone.com.au/coverage for more details.

Important: While the highest standards are applied in preparing coverage maps, 100% mapping accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

Overseas:

When you’re overseas, you can get online access using our GPRS network in over 60 countries, with a growing number of 3G and 3G broadband networks throughout the Asia Pacific and Europe. So next time you go overseas, pack your laptop and device and stay on top of your workload.

16653 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is real bad at 4 Apr 2011 02:40:46 PM
Using a Vodafail Data card in Wynnum 4178. 3G drops out frequently and signal strength varies from hour to hour....maybe it's go something to do with the wind, birds flying past, coulds in the sky....I've been told it's got nothing to do with the Vodafail network.

When 3G drops out 2G simply fails to work what so ever.

I was told by the helpdesk that my antivirus interfered with the signal strength. That might even be believable if I had the card plugged directly into my notebook. I don't - it's plugged into a Netcomm router.

I know there is nothing wrong with the router as I've used it with other 3G services and also via Vodafail in Perth/Sydney in the past.

When are the network upgrades actually due...is there a project rollout plan to review the status of certain areas.
4 May 2011 11:10:58 AM: The bayside and the sunny coast have some of the worst reception rate from my experience! Used to have a 3 mobile broadband card and it worked fine until last year when 3 and vodafone merged. Fail! Same goes for my phone service unfortunately :(

Awaiting activation of SIM card, 9 hours after applying for it.
30 Apr 2011 10:26:18 PM: If you had listened to the person that did the activation you would have heard them say, (On 3:) "It will take up to four hours" or (On VF:) "It will happen within the next few minutes". If you're on 3 then you should have either sought out a store and had them check the order or give you a new one, while if you're on VF you should have stayed in the store for those few minutes until it was activated. But I guess sitting on your ass until somebody fixes the problem for you is a good method too...

Just like to say i am glad i was never supplied a phone by Vodafail. (Because i don't have a so called 'job').

They actually did me a favour. I have since applied for and received a iphone by Telstra on the Telstra 3g network. Great coverage, great prices. Thanks Vodafail.

Vodafone Indian staff refused to document issues or acknowledge support / technical notes which I wanted expressly on record. They then tried to claim that the calls I was involved in were not always being recorded, contrary to the information supplied by Vodafone AU staff.

Tech support / customer support do not want to look bad in VHA's eyes, otherwise they will lose the ODC support contract. Bring the customer support staff back to Australia, with Aussies having jobs, instead of Indians lying to customers to save their jobs.
22 Apr 2011 07:35:40 PM: I have worked for vodafone and telstra no longer work for either. both Are bad but vodafone has gone down hill very quickly. I have been flat out lied to on the phone to them. It is true howeve that not all calls are monitored. It is a semi random selection done by machine. The monitoring is done either by a team leader sitting in on the call real time. Otherwise 1 or 2 calls are recorded generally daily. So you have not been lied to on that point. However there is a chance you could have been 1 of the recorded calls. And they should check that.

16483 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is response to the letter from the CEO of Vodafone. at 31 Mar 2011 06:41:52 PM
Dear Nigel,

I hope you don't mind me calling you Nigel, but seeing as you addressed me by my Christian name, I thought I'd pay you the same discourtesy. I'm sure we have never met personally. But then, Vodafone has always had a somewhat cavalier attitude to customer service, and not only in my experience. The letter of apology (3/3/2011) you sent to me and thousands of other customers was a kind of hilarious insult, and I think even the type of people that subscribe to bestiality websites collectively scoffed at your vapid excuses. I'd have thought it was a risky career move to apologise to your customers in the Telco business, seeing as it's an admission of guilt, which for my money makes you liable to compensate people for legitimate grievances-but that's an unpleasant topic to bring up at this fledgling stage, so we'll come back to that, but for now, I'll say this: apologies don't put dollars back in our pockets, Nigel. If you really wanted to apologise by 'snail-mail,' (which is apparently faster than your connection to 3G) you would have to bulldoze about 500 000 hectares of Tasmanian old growth if you wanted to be comprehensive about it. You say, in the second paragraph of the introduction, that you 'aim to provide our customers with an excellent customer experience and the best possible value, but recently our network and customer service performance, particularly in December and January, fell well below the standards we set for ourselves.' Fuck me, Nigel. That statement alone starts my mind spinning like a one-armed bandit. There's so many goddamn dirty questions (or confirmations of my suspicions) that you've thrown up for all to see that I don't know where to begin. I'll get to most of them in due course though. Pour yourself a Scotch.

Firstly, if the network coverage and customer service had only fallen below par in the months you mentioned, I might not be writing this note, but the fact is the service - both network and customer - has always been an abomination in the face of value for money and basic, honest, human decency and conduct. Secondly, I was amazed to discover that you have standards that you set for yourselves. What, pray tell, might these 'standards' be? It strikes me as standard practise in the Telco industry to yank customers around by their contracts like a choke chain without ever revealing what kind of obligations the service provider has to them, the paying customers. Let me stress that: PAYING CUSTOMER. That's right, old son, you work for me, for all intents and purposes or at least, that's what you should be doing. But all you do is take my money while alleging that you are providing me with something in return. In shabby reality, you're not. I am routinely overcharged for a service that I cannot even use in my own home or suburb. And it's patchy at best throughout the region. You might think we're a bunch of parochial morons out here in the sticks, but cellular technology has been available to us for at least ten years, believe it or not. Word is we'll even be getting the internet soon. Does Vodafone offer internet connections? I'm thinking of getting 56K dial-up. I don't have a landline yet, but I'll get one, because I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with your bullshit any longer.

Yes, a landline. I guess that way if I have to call the police or any other kind of emergency service, the phone connection is less likely to DROP OUT like it does when I use my mobile phone to call them I hate to have to sue you over some grievous, long term injury that I could sustain on my property. Did I mention that I'm a young woman living alone in a relatively isolated area? Yeah, that's right, I live a whole twenty minutes north of the largest regional centre in the Illawarra, and about twenty minutes south of a phone tower at Maddens Plains. In fact, I believe there is a phone tower in Thirroul, which is five minutes away from me. It's built between an Anglican church and a primary school, though the primary school is for Catholics so, I wonder why I can't call a friend on a lonely night, let alone the police or an ambulance? To the best of my knowledge, emergency services are not equipped to receive Morse code, or read smoke signals, which is about all I have at my disposal if something terrible happened. That was the first lie one of your sales reps told me - that Vodafone has 98% network coverage in Australia. Evidently, while the girl in the shop looked me in my good eye and said that, she neglected to mention that the 2% not covered includes a good deal of the Illawarra. Seeing as this was happening at a store in Wollongong, I don't see any excuse for it whatsoever, though I understand that honesty is not the best policy when you're in the snake-oil business. This brings me to a proposition - no - directive that I have for you:

Seeing as you were foolish enough to admit what a monumental balls-up your engineer gimps and sullen service reps made of December and January, I think it's only fair to expect some kind of compensation. I wonder if you would feel the same? It strikes me that you probably didn't become a CEO by lying down like a smack-whore on the nod and getting fucked by every ruthless exploiter that stepped over your body. Well, I don't intend to let that happen to me, so if you've got a problem with this strong suggestion, try and put yourself in my shoes. I bet you can. You don't get to be the boss just because you've got a smooth complexion or do you? Anyway, how's this? You pay me back the two bills I paid during December and January. By the way, nice timing on your Egyptian-style destruction of the communications system, dude. Right smack bang on the summer holidays. So - the bills amount to $84.89 (Dec) and $81.00 (Jan). If I hadn't somehow mysteriously exceeded my cap ($79), which always seems to happen, the sum total would be $158 for the pair, but seeing as your corrupt and/or terminally stupid Nazi debt-collector types like to overcharge me, it amounts to $165.89. There was no way for me to investigate this apparent skimming, because I have a couple of things going on in my life. Like commuting, working and sleeping. Having been on the phone to Vodafone for eight hours (total) one day, I don't feel particularly inspired to deal with your maniacal rhetoric on a monthly basis over a couple of dollars. But goddamn it, you know you take your cut well as I do, and I think that's a lousy way to make money. It's for bums. You grift people who give you their bank details like idiot tourists buying imitation Rolexes in third world countries. You're nothing but a bunch of hawkers, con-men and scabs. Your marketing department is run by pimps. The whole operation appears to be based - almost completely - on deceit and subterfuge. It's as if your organisation is run by an army of street thugs, and the call-centre workers are on the front line but I'm not saying the others are any better. I don't want you to feel singled out here, Nigel, but as the CEO, I would imagine you should be held responsible for the conduct of a major corporate entity whose moral compass has apparently been hurled into a snowdrift in the Arctic Circle.

Anyway, a few more stipulations regarding the money I am invoicing you for. I would, obviously, like to be released from this 'contract' I'm allegedly bound to. Seeing as you don't appear to take the contract seriously, I don't see why I should. When you show me your policies, codes of conduct etc, (which I was told were internal documents' when I asked to see them) I might entertain the idea that this contract' is in any way legally binding. You want to hope it is, because it's sure as hell not based on good will, is it? Telcos in this country have been getting away with treating people like shit and charging them for it for years. That is not going to happen to me anymore. So, I'll take the $165.89 - every cent, thanks - and be released from the contract without severance fees or string attachments of any kind. That deal goes a damnsight further than fair, Nigel, and you know it. We're talking about real money here, not that Monopoly-fantasy-call credit horseshit you use to dupe the rubes out of their shiny pennies. And I know that $165.89 ain't much to either of us, really, but I'm asking for it because it's money you admitted you don't deserve. Billing cycle begins on the first of the month. Failure to pay within the first 12 days of the new month will result in a $25 penalty fee!. If you are indeed 'working as hard and fast as [you] can to show [the customer] the changes and improvements [Vodafone is] making,' I want to see the evidence. In the form of cash, old mate. Money talks a hell of a lot louder than second-rate apologies beefed-up with pointless technical details. I hope I'm not being presumptuous, but I'm sure you are aware of this.

Explanations don't come easy in your business, do they? It was easier to get an apology out of you than it is to contend with the unmitigated stream of bullshit that I get from both automatons and humans that man your call-centres, which I imagine resemble some kind of third world sweatshop. Believe it or not, I am a professional - a civil servant, no less - and that is how I am able to pay these inexplicably inflated bills you keep hitting me with. Unfortunately, it also means that after a day of dealing with the disabled that I do not have the patience or inclination to deal with your half-bright service reps when I get home. Not that I can call you from my home, because, as I may have mentioned earlier MY PHONE DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT NETWORK COVERAGE. I hope I'm being plain enough for you to follow me here, Nigel- in fact, it's quite pleasant writing to you, because I haven't been transferred to five different trainee phone monkeys who are pretending that the manager is out to lunch. I suppose you have a harem of PAs to screen your mail, but I pray to the heathen gods one of them hates you enough to pass this letter on to you.

Yours Sincerely,

Ms (SURNAME REMOVED)

26 Apr 2011 07:16:01 PM: This is the best piece of writing I have read in a long time. Any reply yet?
27 Apr 2011 02:07:29 PM: Has there been any reply to this yet?!
30 Apr 2011 10:42:27 PM: Good luck in suing for compensation based on the fact that you had injured yourself on your property and could not contact emergency services because you had poor mobile services. The fact that you have acknowledged this means it was forseeable, so unless you do whatever is reasonable to overcome this i.e. find a more reliable service suited for 'the sticks' such as telstra (you know, the service renowned for great regional coverage') then you have contributed to your own ill fortunes. I would think the fact that the CEO admitted to and apologised for faults in the service shows courage. You didn't see Optus apologise when they signed up too many users for their network capability.
They simply denied it and hoped no one noticed in the time it took them to install more towers and upgrade their network, for which, like Vodafone, they are constantly still doing.
2 May 2011 02:09:25 PM: That was fantastic. But who is this TWAT above me. Do they work for Telstra?
I have noticed a LOT of pro telstra comments on the site. Is this why they charge like a wounded bull, because that have TWAT monkeys running around commenting on forums against thier competitors?
3 May 2011 08:44:46 PM: Dear 30 Apr 2011 10:42:27 PM,

If that's your idea of courage, I'd hate to see your idea of business sense.

- Ms.
16 May 2011 12:12:57 PM: If everyone goes to Telstra They will have a monopoly AGAIN!!!
Vonaphone Prepaid thank Goodness!!
20 Jul 2011 05:30:11 PM: Pure genius!!!!! Will you marry me?
31 Jul 2011 08:03:33 PM: F*cking awesome!
3 Aug 2011 06:35:26 PM: Bit off-topic, but thought I would mention: it's my understanding that you can dial emergency services (000) from any provider and it will be routed through, so long as their is a tower in your area to pick up the signal. So, this means if you have a handset on Vodafone, if there is a compatible Telstra tower in the area, it will accept the call. Don't take my word for it though... I don't like the idea of getting sued! Or, more importantly people dying because of my assumptions. :P
13 Sep 2011 07:36:50 PM: You can always call 000 as long as there's a tower to pick up the signal, no matter what network, even if the mobile doesn't have a SIM card in it. I worked in the 000 call centre: if there's no SIM card in the phone, the call just comes through as usual except without any address information.
4 Jan 2012 11:11:59 AM: That was an awesome read..Someone should make sure VF and the ACMA get that one...I had to print that out...it was totally inspiring....

I bought an HTC phone from a workmate who has gone overseas. It developed a fault rear loud speaker stopped. A very helpful phone shop selling all kinds of phones advised me to contact HTC who replied that the phone was one of Vodafails and to take it to them. First problem no proof of purchase. Ok I'll pay for the repair Ok bring it in to us pay $50 and we'll send it away could take up to 8 weeks.
Next visit we can't send your phone away because you don't have the original receipt but HTC says it was one of your phones. But it's not on our data base so before we can send it for repair you have to tell us where it was bought. I wondered how many mobile resellers sell phones for Vodafail and what was in the the girl's head.
Returned to my friendly phone dealer who said Send it off to SA they will fix phones out of warranty here's the place here's the phone number and address.
Great service from one small shop Zero from brainless Vodafail.Do they train their staff? I will never enter their doors again.
30 Mar 2011 07:51:03 PM: Why don't you take some product back to a different company, claim its theirs and demand a repair, see how they respond.

16312 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Worst service provider ever! at 15 Mar 2011 05:08:39 PM
Forget delayed sms messages, my messages dont even come to me sometimes!

We were enjoying a week in Qld last week, my lovely cousin had lent me her car for ease, and had said she didn't have any issues driving me from Brisbane to the GC where we were flying back home from. Unfortunately I'm with Vodafone so nothing worked out how it shouldve. I NEVER got the message from my cousin saying I needed to be at hers by 10 for her to give me a lift to the GC airport. I never got this message. I know it was sent correctly because I could view on her Iphone it had been sent to me, and she is with an actual provider Telstra who actually provide the service they charge for.

It ended up costing us over $80 in travel fees to get to the airport, and 4 hours! This is one of a NUMBER of examples of vodafone failing to get calls and message to and from me. I have since called and requested I be able to cancel the service without fee because they are not providing the service I am paying for. After passing me around a few departments they promised someone from cancellations would call me the very next day. This has still not happened and it is over 48 hours since my conversation with them. I am sick and tired of them taking money without providing a proper service. I cant beleive I'm still stuck with them and they wont even bother calling me back. I have spread the word to everyone I know to not join vodafone and will continue to find avenues like this website until I am allowed to leave my contract without further charge.

Thanks.
15 Mar 2011 06:44:15 PM: Well I just sent a very damaging letter to the CEO of vodaphone and threatened legal action....I also included one thing they thing everyone has forgotten...when a number of complaints are present...over 16,000 on this site...which are legal complaints....it brings about the right for anyone to question whether or not Vodaphone should retain their Communications Licence....I exercised this right....in a word the licence can when suspended be picked up for $1.00.....so we will see what he does....
16 Mar 2011 11:13:04 AM: he will do nothing or just release u if u are lucky

16264 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Like slamming my hand in a car door at 11 Mar 2011 02:40:14 PM
I've been a vodafone customer since 1997. I got my first mobile with them when I got my first job at Dominos. I've had services from other providers through various jobs - but I've been a pretty loyal customer.

A year ago, I got a pretty high bill. I called customer care, got through the infuriating process with Lara, negotiated a contract change and lower payment figure as incentive to change my contract and went away happy. I tried to leave a complaint on your website about Lara, but found that your complaints form would not accept complaints about Lara. Apparently so many of your customers were jack of that nonsense that you'd stuck your fingers in your ears and started singing LALALALA like it wasn't a problem.

A month later, I got a new invoice. My contract had changed, but the promised incentives hadn't been applied. I refused to pay your bill until you corrected the invoice to adhere to the new agreement. You left me waiting for a call back for four months. Then you disconnected my service, without calling me back. I called and yelled again, and after an hour on the phone you reconnected my service and left me waiting for a call back from a supervisor. Four months later, you disconnected my service again! I called back, yelled for an hour and eventually my service was reconnected but the issue still not resolved, was left pending a call back. At this point I was refusing to call you as long as my service worked - and hadn't paid a bill for 8 months. I was wondering how long you could possibly string this out for instead of just playing back the original call that you assured me was recorded by your systems....

Four months later, a full year since the original incorrect invoice - you disconnected my service again. I called you again as was our little tradition and after an hour of screaming, you tried to make me wait for a call back from a supervisor. After I screamed some more - you realized that the supervisor could just take the bloody call. And realizing that you had been a year without payment - you agreed to just suck it up, credit the amount I'd been disputing for a year and send me on the way if I paid the outstanding $12 month bill.

A year, to do EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR. More than 5 hours on the phone in total. Multiple periods of months at a time without a promised call back ever eventuating. For fuck sake.

How much have you really saved by moving your call center off shore? When compared to how much you've lost by infuriating your customers with staggeringly incompetent customer service.
15 Mar 2011 01:42:18 PM: i would suggest checking your credit history. You will need to contact the credit reporting agencies to obtain a copy of your credit reports.
maybe nothing but better safe than sorry.

I changed from pre paid to post paid on 27 December 2010 - I was supposed to be on a 12 month 45 infinate plan with $25 per month for Nokia n8. I was promised a three month waiver of the $45 and a discount of 10% for the 12 months on the $25 amount.
This has then been my experience:
1. First three days (including my birthday unable to receive calls
2. Rang vodaphone 6 times to get message bank set up over a weeks period
3. Spent between 45 - 1 hour on hold each time I tried to contact.
4. Phone "bricked" itself and I had to return it
5. First bill - no discount for $45 charge - contact call centre took 3 attempts as over 1 hours hold time
6. Finally got on to consultant who cant help, finally get a supervisor who says she has fixed it and sends an email (10 Jan) assuring me the $45 discount and 10% will be applied from now on.
7. Next bill - no discount - hours again getting on to consultant who said it was fixed and would show on next bill
8. Next Bill - no $45 discount caled again and spoke to supervisor who assures me it is fixed and I will not have to call again
9.Called TIO and lodged complaint
10. Try to use vodaphone music stre on N8 tracks do not download - contact vodafhone and get told nokia n8 not compatable with the vodaphone store, consultant checks account and says I wont be charged for tracks.
11. Called by vodafone in response to TIO complaint 2 days ago, woman quite snappy and says it has been fixed and I will not have to call again
12. Today - get new bill and 45 credit has been applied however now 10% discount has fallen off. Also have been charged for vodaphone music store tracks that did not download
13 Call vodaphone and speak to supervisor who tells me he is in melbourne billing - looks at account and agrees the 10% has not been applied and says it will happen next month as will music refund- I ask for something in writing as this has been promised so many times before and he refuses. ask to speak to someone higher up and get transfered without warning or introduction to a customer complaints electronic service
14. Call back and request to get back to supervisor I was speaking to and get told they cannot transfer calls internally and also tells me there is no billing department in melbourne. Also says there is no internal staff directory for vodaphone
15. burst into tears of frustration and Go back to TIO

i left telstra to move to voda cause they have the best plans, yeh the reception isnt the best atm but 45 infiniti plan who cares if u drop out you can call back fools and get no charge and yeh i have a iphone 4 that i pay for ontop of the plan but work it out people 45+18 thats pretty effing cheap seeing your getting a $800 phone with unlimited calls and text to anyone in australia and u can callscreen yoru messages on 1219 for $0, pfffftttt if people wernt dumb they would know they can do rate plan changes aswell. seriously people need to take a big look at themselves "are you perfect" No im sure you screw up many times in your life, i remember when telstra upgraded everything to next g and reception was effing sh#t house. its gonna be funny when everything is sweet again and you are all locked into contracts with other shit providers that plans dont even compare. Also my friend works at voda and said its funny cause so many people call up saying they are having all these drop outs(dont you all realise they can see how many dropouts you have so it would be good to stop lying and making yourself look like a dick).
Thats all that needs to be said

16138 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Extremely at 4 Mar 2011 03:47:51 PM
I brought an iPhone, asking specifically about coverage in my home area. I was told there wouldn't be a problem. A week of dropped and missed calls, I get a follow-up from the salesperson, I mention the dropped calls, he tells me to switch from 3G to 2G - sort of making an iPhone pointless. After a year of dropped calls, I finally get out of the contract - told by Vodafone customer services that I shouldn't have been sold the phone to begin with. They offer me a year's refund in costs. When my next bill comes, the money is there, but I can't get it. Vodafone since changed their story and said that the refund was to keep me with Vodafone - which they knew wasn't possible. Oddly enough the phone call where I was offered this refund is the only one not recorded!

Vodafone lied to me, offered conflicting and poor customer service.

Even though it says we are in full coverage here in Ellenbrook in Perths north the coverage here is poor. Can not make or receive calls. Reception jumps up and down from nothing to half then back to nothing.

Just outside the suburb we can get great reception. Vodafone have said they have upgraded the phone towers but if they have it didn't work. I suspect its lying.

if you ever loose your mobile phone, dont bother trying to call and get it tracked, they wont help. a few days a ago i lost my i phone at a petrol station so i called vodafone to see if they can track it but the the customer service rept. said its impossible to trac it. so i got my feet and looked around and found it lying somewhere on the middle of the road. what a help vodafone.
1 Apr 2011 05:30:22 PM: ha come on. do you expect there to be gps beacon device attached to your handset? no telco has the ability to track the phone- only calls and texts.

Approaching the ned of a vodafone contract with 40 handsets.
When questioned on a payout figure I was told $9,000 plus GST.
When queried I was told balance of contract $1,500 plus handset credits offered at beginning of contract.
Onc checking we have actually had $3,500 of actual hardware supplied over two years. Voda could not explain why I had to pay the full balance for equipment that I had not been supplied with. Needless to say our Voda contract will xpire in one month and will not be renewed despite offers of free handsets, free access for two months etc etc.

I am a business customer with 14 mobiles on the plan (orignally with three mobile) we were led to believe we would have the same coverage as Telstra and were lied to. I am copping unbelievable flak from the users and now cannot even speak to anyone. It took three days to speak to a person, then I sent a follow up email and received an "out of office reply" (twice). Anyone know the exact phone number to call to cancel the contract?
18 Feb 2011 04:54:11 PM: If you have tried to contact Customer Care without success or not to your satisfaction the next step is to contact the TIO.

The details may be found on the tab How To Complain located at the top of the page.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!!!

There is a payment credit on my Vodafone account. I have attempted via various help desks over the past 12 months to have this applied to current bills, and for the balance to be repaid to me. In this process I have contacted Vodafone at least six times and on each occasion I have been promised a return call with a solution. This has never eventuated. The information I have received during these calls has been incomplete/variable. I have spent I would estimate around ten hours either on my mobile or landline waiting either for a pick-up, or "further information".

15519 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Honestly hopeless, even dishonest at 12 Feb 2011 05:02:13 PM
Well, almost two and a half years ago I signed up for Vodafails mobile "broadband" in Hobart, Tasmania. I was on a $39 / month for 5gb plan. (I Think).
Once I set up I discovered that there was no reception at my house, and even when I connected in the CBD it would only ever connect via 2g. No 3g towers had been switched on apparently. Anyway I rang customer service telling them that without 3g they can't possibly class it as broadband and it was even too slow to log on to my account to pay any bills.
Vodafail agreed to cancel the contract and said they'd send me a mail sachet to post the modem back to them. No sachet ever came and no phone calls etc so I left it at that. I wasn't going to sit on hold for hours just to ask why they didn't want their modem back.
Anyhow, over two years of hearing nothing, and much wonderful service with Virgin and Telstra I receive a text message stating that my bill of $1009.50 was due. I couldn't beleive it and went straight into a Vodafail store (calling is useless) and find out that they hadn't actually cancelled my account and just left it building up a debt.
After explaining everything to a very helpful employee he contacted 'someone' whom organised to post out another sachet and said my account would be cancelled straight away. This time the sachet actually came. I posted it away and hoped that was the end of my dealings with this rubbish company.
Anyway....less than a month later I receive a text message saying that my bill of $39.43 is ready. The following month I get another one.
I then went back into the store, a different employee looked up the details and said he couldn't see anything on the system and it appeared my account was cancelled with $0.00 owing. Maybe this was the end of my dealings with them now?
NOPE. Today I checked my phone and had a message left by a Vodafail rep stating that I am owing $119.30 on my account and to give her a call back. Called back and no-one answered. This was at 6pm though. I will call tomorrow and if a supervisor can't sort it I will lodge a complaint through the TIO.
CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY.

Just a side note, I have read a few times on Whirlpool forum that people have posted their USB Dongle back to Vodafail in their supplied postage bag and it had gone "missing". Is this just a scam / convenient way for them to leave the account active? I honestly do smell a rat!

15498 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 11 Feb 2011 02:56:04 PM
So a couple of months ago my Oct/Nov bill came to 320 bucks! Every other bill has always been in line with my $79 cap and never over and I definitely didn't use it more that month than any other... It was however the month that my phone started dropping calls, losing signal and generally being totally unreliable.
I've contacted customer services a number of times about the billing issues - which they say are not their issue but mine and clearly that's what I spent... It's ridiculous.
Anyway yesterday I finally had enough and rang customer services to cancel my contract because of that and the constant drop outs - they basically tried to say that it was obviously that I lived in a poor coverage area! Paddington in Sydney - I tried to make the point that the drop outs are TOTALLY RANDOM and occur for no apparent reason, I can be with other Vodafail customers and they'll have signal or vice versa but they didn't really believe it.
Anyway they're now doing an investigation - which I think is a total waste of time. they need to admit that there's a problem with individual phones dropping off the network not just the network coverage.
They also need to sort out my ridiculous bill and stop denying that also!!!
I totally agree with complaint 15280:
In short: Billing problem; dropped calls; incorrect advice/ promise by vodafone staff; on-hold for too long; overcharged; poor customer services....
11 Feb 2011 10:35:25 PM: so stupid. my phone is also going under investigation. ridiculous. ten working days the guy told me. thats two weeks.
17 Feb 2011 09:41:50 AM: Just go to the TIO and end the pain. They told me they were 'investigating' it. I really believe the only way it will be sorted out is to use the TIO. I found them extremely helpful. 10 emails to VF..k over issue and phone calls and visits to store didn't.

15457 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Major fail at 10 Feb 2011 03:05:55 PM
I have been with 3 (now part of Vodafone) for several years and had no problems, until I moved to Melbourne ... before applying for a rental property I went into the 3/Vodafone store to ask about coverage and was informed there was full coverage (for mobile and mobile broadband) where I wanted to move to. Of course, when I actually arrived in my new city, alone and overwhelmed, I found that I had next to no coverage for either my phone or internet. Going back into the store was no help and I then spent many phone calls backwards and forwards with 3 "Customer Care", being transferred from one department to the next with long hold periods between.

Finally they agreed to release me from my 3 contracts if I agreed to try Vodafone first. I stated that I did not want to do this as I had been a Vodafone customer several years ago and had been very dissatisfied with the service and reception - Only to be told that the network had been 'significantly' improved. I was given a credit on my account of $30 to enable me to purchase Vodafone prepaid SIMs to trial.

It took 1 hour instore to get signed up for the SIMs which ended up costing over $50 (once any data allowance was included) - for which I refused to pay and made the staff call 3 Customer Care to sort it out themselves.

In short, the Vodafone reception was, as I knew it would be, even worse than 3's! So I rang Vodafone to ask for this to be recorded on my account so that I would have all the documentation required to be released from my 3 account. The person I talked to kept telling me that there should be adequate reception where I lived and that it must be a handset fault (despite it working perfectly prior to my move) - he kept insisting that the only way he could help me was if I called back on an alternate number. No matter how many times I explained that I was alone in a new city with only a mobile phone and no alternate to use, he kept telling me the same thing. I ended up in tears on the phone and even when I told him that I couldn't even have a conversation with my mum without it dropping out, and that I was worried that if I needed to call an ambulance or the police that I wouldn't be able to, he just kept telling me to call back on an alternate number. In the end, I hung up in tears.

3 had also tried the 'alternate number' sham for the purposes of running 'handset checks' but had at least understood when I told them (for the 10th time) that there was no alternate number.

So, 3 finally agreed to let me out of my contract for the mobile and internet, without the cancellation fees. But they were unable to stop the cancellation fees from appearing and told me I would have to call back after my bill arrived to get the cancellation fees removed. I am also told that I am required to pay out the remaining handset installments on my phone (some $450).

A bill arrived and I rang 3 today to confirm if my direct debit was still active (given that they've cancelled my online access to my account details) and in the process found that they had NOT cancelled my internet account in January as I had asked, and been told had occurred. And they were expecting me to pay whatever pro-rata charges there were since this time.

I refused and spent quite some time outlining to the representative I spoke with that it was not my fault the previous person I had spoken to was obviously incompetent and had not done the job they said they would or made notes that this is what had been discussed. And highlighting that I intended to take this matter (and the overall completely horrific service received from 3 and Vodafone) to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman - at which point they agreed to 'make an exception' for me and waive the pro-rata fees on my internet account.

The distress this has caused me - in terms of having to justify myself and make my position clear to people who keep reinterpreting it and choosing to only focus on one aspect of my story, as well as having to repeat the whole, convoluted tale each and every time I have been transferred to a new department - the isolation I have felt all alone in a new city - and the waste of time this has all been has convinced me to make a complaint to the TIO and to never trust Vodafone again (Optus wasn't much better either - their reception was also substandard and the 3 hours I spent standing in their store on hold to their customer care team left me in tears and with a migraine - all to access their 30 day reception guarantee a mere 3 days after signing up).

Had a huge mess which I have already listed on this website.

So (thought I had) escaped vodafone.

Now, at teh same time as escaping vodafone my iPhone stopped working. So temporarily switched to another phone.

I went to the apple store to have it looked at to see if i could get it fixed and they needed a sim in it. So put in my new XXXXX sim in the phone and it didn't work. Apple informed me that all iPhones other than those bought directly from Apple are locked to the network that you bought them from and that i would have to contact vodafone to get it unlocked.

So went to the vodafone reseller that I got the phone from whowhen I bought it TOLD ME that it was unlocked as I was going into a contract. Noting that all my previous phones fomr vodafone were never locked.

When I asked them about it now they simply told me that they would never have told me that and said again that i had to contact vodafone and it would be about $200 to unlock (a broken phone remember). So they lied.

I went to the unlock section of the website. put in the details required of the serial nmber of the phone. It came up as unrecognised and a message saying that vodafone will contct me within ten days. From past experience I doubt they will. I also doubt there is any chance now of unlocking it.

I am not going to spend a week of attempted calls, that dropp out or be put on hold for hours to try and talk to someone about it.

So lies from the reseller now and useless phone.

Was teh only provider i had used and was with them for 13yrs. will never return

sigh

Last week on Tuesday and again on Sunday my boyfriend never received two very important texts from me - it has caused us some considerable grief because I come off looking like I am not replying at all and that I don't care.

At least on Sunday I was smart enough to send another copy as an email 8 hours later.

4 months of this now. When will it end?

Thanks yet again, Vodafail.

15280 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopelessly ridiculously pathetic at 6 Feb 2011 07:38:54 PM
We have renewed 4 new plans with Vodafone 3 months ago and the following happened:

All 4 plans were incorrected registered and despite spending over 4 hours with Vodafone, and on each occasion being reassured that they have been rectified, all 3 plans are still being overcharged;
Existing auto debit details did not roll over and I was threatened with a disconnect notice by SMS;
One of the new phone was both incoming and outgoing call barred and we found out that there were 3 months of payment in arrear when we first used the phone; we informed Vodafone calls were never made and no inovices were received either by mail, SMS or email while the plan detail were also incorrect. Vodafone denied our information and informed that invoices were sent to a Hotmail account; however that particular account is not attached to a Hotmail; SO THE VODAFONE STAFF MADE THE STORY UP!!!!;
We were informed that credit will be applied on the incorrect charges and late fee will be waived; as of today, they are still showing on our bill; We have been over-charged and the so called Help Desk is not helping at all!
And yes, calls have been dropped every now and then even in Sydney Metro

In short: Billing problem; dropped calls; incorrect advice/ promise by vodafone staff; on-hold for too long; overcharged; poor customer services and irresponsible directors!

4 Feb 2011 03:26:35 PM: Vodafone is a weapon of mass disruption!!!
5 Feb 2011 09:05:31 AM: Very clever, sorry I didn't think of that.

I see there have been other poor suckers who have had similar problems. How is it that in our over governed & over legislated country Vodafail can get away with mass advertising products they cannot possibly supply & take customers' funds based on contracts they clearly cannot comply with? Why aren't our brave police guardians of law & order arresting these criminals for fraud?
7 Feb 2011 10:39:47 PM: I've had the dodgy invoice as well. Don't worry though, I found out that 40 Mount St North Sydney is the Head Office. (Shared building with Coca Cola).
8 Feb 2011 08:36:57 PM: Well they did it!!! the Shitheads sent me an invoice for a service that they agreed to rescind. I sent their crummy junk disc & USB modem back & they still are sending me bills! Where is the nearest vigalante posse I can join to lynch these outlaws!
17 Feb 2011 08:28:05 AM: HOPEFULLY this the end to the saga. Thanks to the advice on this site I registered a complaint with the TIO & 10 days later received a call from a Vodafone lady. Nice polite woman with good sense of humour, actually told me that they were trained to cop abuse from customers & needed a thick skin to do the job. Asked her if she was aware of this site & she said they were.

Absolutely refused to send me any documentation that Vodafail would not be billing me again or that they had canceled my deal with them. Just kept telling me that she had checked all the possible departments of the company & all of them showed I was no longer a customer & that my credit card details had been erased.

Of course I should believe all this right? Who would doubt the verbal assurance of a Vodafone employee? Finally she agreed the best she could do would be to send me a text to say they no longer would be charging me!

It only took one 5 minute phone call for these people to get their hooks into me to bleed my credit card dry for a non-existent "service" & then 5 weeks of phone calls, hanging in queues & a complaint to the TIO to cancel the agreement.

I will wait & see if this is really the end of the saga. Not that I don't trust them!

15129 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Had me listed as bad credit for over 18 months at 2 Feb 2011 05:24:33 PM
I racked up a bill of nearly $4000 by using my phone to surf the net over 6 months. I was paying the bill off at $150 a week when they barred my phone, so I went prepaid and continued to pay the debt off. The last payment was made on the 21/04/2009 and Vodf@#kwits confirmed that the debt had been paid. I then had to fight them for 2 months to get a refund on an overpayment that I had made and only got it when I threatened to send them a bell for my wasted time of $1500 as while was talking to them, my truck was off the road. I got the refund in June.
Yesterday I applied for a car loan and was told that I was not able to get it as I still had an unpaid bill with Vodaf@#kwits on my credit report. I then called them up and asked what was going on and they said I still owed them $27.41. And that was after 30 minutes of getting the run around from them. I told the indian twat that it had been paid in full over 18 months ago and he kept telling me I owed them money. It was only after I told him I had written confirmation that I had paid it out that he dropped the extra charges. He then hung up on me. This morning I called the debt collector and they confirmed that the debt had been paid out. They couldn't have been more helpful. Vodaf@#kwits on the other hand, after 45 minutes and being hung up on twice, accepted that they were in the wrong and agreed to send out a letter of confirmation as well as an email copy. I will see if they honor their commitment to change the default on my credit report, but if they don't, the TIO will be called.

15036 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extreme at 1 Feb 2011 07:46:16 AM
Apart from the call drop outs, delay in voicemail delivery and the frustration of spending numerous hours on hold, I have been dealing with outgoing email problems from my Iphone which was recommended by Vodafone to purchase in 2008. It started over 7 months ago I would receive emails from my host server but when ever I replied or sent an email from the Iphone it went into Cyber Space. It took a little while before I realised my emails were not being received. I am self employed and therefore rely heavily on what package Vodafone sales team sold to me. Vodafone firstly told me that it was my problem as no one else was experiencing these types of problems and I must have done something to cause this issue. After further waiting on the phone with Vodafone customer service representitives and being told it was not Vodafone but my host company problem, I then spent many hours with my host company trying to assist me without success. Vodafone finally admitted their fault, it was a major spam problem they had experienced causing the problem. The rep told me they were working on it and should not take to long before going back to normal. After waiting a few more weeks I went through the same old Vodafone frustrating contact process (hours and days on hold)and was told to use an alternative website to reply to my emails. This worked for about a 3 days then I started having the same problems again with their recommendations!! Please note, I have always paid my bill on time during this whole frustrating ordeal. All of my calls were naturally recorded by Vodafone, and all correspondence updated on my account, this showed a conversation I had with them stating they would contact me when this problem was rectified before the next billing cycle but they would inform me as their top international tech team were being flown into Australia to fix it. During Christmas they barred my out going calls, I was interstate on holidays and sat on the phone for 6 hours over 2 days trying to talk to someone from Vodafone. Finally spoke to a rep who understood my frustration and returned my phone to operational status as he was over the constant failure of Vodafone. Minor compensation has been offered along the way in the form of a $25 reduction in my bill!! I have not mentioned many other occassions I have been on the phone to Vodafone as this message would be longer then the Harry Potter novel. I spoke to a tech just recently who now said the problem only effects the Iphone so I should look at getting a Blackberry, when I mentioned considering it was Vodafone who told me to purchase 6 Iphones originally what could they offer given the inconvenience, his answer was "nothing as it is your choice". Ps my outgoing emails are still not operational even with all of their recommendations.

Since I got so sick of Vodafone not delivering my texts I changed to Optus and thought the problem would go away.

No.

My boyfriend is with Vodafone. Back in October when we first met we nearly lost our relationship because when he texted me to ask me out he never got a reply from me. He thought I was ignoring / not interested but I was replying and I was interested - vodafone just wasn't delivering my responses!

We've been through a rough patch the last few weeks but on Australia Day we had such an amazing time so he texted me the most sweetest msg the next day. I replied with a similar msg and all seemed great again. The next three days he seemed a bit cold/odd/distant, I was confused. Last night we finally figured it out.

He never got my nice reply so felt all rejected /confused.

Gah!!

F*CK YOU VODAFONE!

4 months of this sh*t is unacceptable!

We've decided to not trust our phones anymore and just send emails or pick up the phone. We shouldn't have to do this on a $90 plan!

30 Jan 2011 08:39:41 AM: If you need assistance on getting out of your contract before your 4 months is up, check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page. The TIO is no doubt where you will end up, but make sure you follow all of the steps.

Best of luck.

28 Jan 2011 05:21:24 PM: Supervisor gave me her name (probably a fake name) and said she'd call me back in 5 mins... it's now been over half an hour..... seriously, no seriously... what can I do... it took me 1 1/2 hours just to get hold of her (spoke to 5 people and went on hold 5 times before being put through to her)... an absolute farce..
28 Jan 2011 05:27:35 PM: Welcome to the world of Vodafone!!!!

When (if) she does ring you back tell her you shall be taking this matter to the TIO......it does change their attitude somewhat!!!

The details of TIO may be found on the tab How To Complain located at the top of the page.

Good luck, we share your pain!!!

29 Jan 2011 12:24:06 PM: 20 hours later.... now I have wasted Friday morning because I couldn't work from home as planned because mobile broadband wasn't working, wasted Friday afternoon because I spent 1h 15m on hold then waited 2 hours for a call back from supervisor of modem data support (Nisha Rani - probably a fake name) which never came, now I will attempt to go to the store of purchase and get my refund... this is a complete joke... time to waste my Saturday. Oh boy!
29 Jan 2011 12:25:47 PM: And as a corollary, it cost me money to stay on hold last night, and will cost me money to pay for parking in the city today... they have not only f*cked my broadband access, but are also costing me from my wallet... these guys are thieves and liars..
29 Jan 2011 05:34:03 PM: I just went into the store and was given a $79 refund on my USB modem, but they refused to refund me on the $150 credit I'd purchased. It took 80 minutes to get the refund, in which time my parking expired which earned me a $60 fine lol... I'm writing to Nigel Dews...
30 Jan 2011 11:37:53 AM: hahaha well i for one liked the swearing. :) vodafone is a joke!!!! send Nigel the parking bill
4 Feb 2011 03:29:58 PM: UPDATE: I got my money back for the credit and the modem. I'm all signed up at Piper Alderman and I'm going to push all the way to get these crims back for the hell they put me through.

14736 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely poor at 27 Jan 2011 12:00:18 PM
I have been consistently experiencing poor data service and drop-out of my voice service (sometimes degraded to SOS service) on various locations along the entire section of the Illawarra line from my home in Engadine into the CBD. I wanted to have my Blackberry Storm unlocked so that I can switch to another provider as soon as my contract expires. The Vodafone store manager at Westfield Miranda who was quite rude, arrogant and unfriendly to my wife and I, told us that he cannot do it and I must go online to have it unlocked. He told us the Blackberry and my wife's Samsung phone would be unlocked for free. When I went online, the Vodafone unlocking site tells me I must pay $25. Either the store manager doesn't know his job, or he was lying to get us out of his shop. I dont expect I will get a response to the email, but hey, I have to try. If this is not resolved in the next week or so, I see little alternative but to join the Vodafone class action suit, and hope that will bring about some real change to Vodafones poor network and customer service.

I am a carer for a disabled person, I can never get any reception, phone drops out but worst of all I can not get any reception inside my work building, I never ever had a problem when I was with 3, what if something happens to the person I care for, as they are with Vodaphone as well. I have not even bothered to call Vodaphone to complain, as I dont have the time to sit on the phone for 2 hours or so. What really makes me angry is I specifically asked the consultant from 3 if I would get the same reception and service with Vodaphone as I did with 3 and he insured me that it would be better because of the merge,
quess what he lied. I am just hanging out for my 24 month contract to finish, how come these companies can get away with not holding up there end of the contract.
27 Jan 2011 06:53:42 AM: That's really bad, there is no way you should have to wait 24 months. Check out the how to complain page on this site and fill in the online form for the TIO. They will then have Vodafone contact you and you can ask to get out of your contract.

My handset refused to work (re-setting constantly, not recieving mssages/calls) and was told to put my complaint to the insurance department when my warranty covers faults in the phone for the life of my contract. I objected and spent 5 days over the christmas season on and off the phone with the so-called customer care. After finally giving in and re-contracting with the promise of a discounted early terminaiton fee, I get my bill and no discounts had been applied. I call to query why the discount did not appear clearly on my bill only to be told a lesser amount was applied and there was nothing he could do about it. I asked for the call recording to be retrieved as a product had been sold to me only to be told that calls are not recorded! How can they sell a product if the call was not recorded to say that I was re-contracting? He calls me back to apply the original discounts, but I'll be calling them again soon to get out of my contract. If they think they'll get away with charging an ETC, I will take it further. No proof of sale, no recording of acceptance? No more vodaphone. They can have the phone back too if they want!

14677 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 26 Jan 2011 12:58:53 PM
Half my keypad went kaputt. This meant I couldn't dial the number to most people, or complete a comprehensible SMS. After the usual circus with Lara, her friends in the Philippines, and many other symphonies from the Vodafone and Nokia muzak selections, I took an afternoon off work to visit my local Westfield to activate my "extended warranty" at a Voda shop in person.
Instead of any attempt to help when I explained my phone's plight to the young "gentle"men in the booth, I received in return, a barrage of demands, ranging from personal ID, proof of purchase, proof of contract etc.etc...Ultimately, they issued an ultimatum - NO job number (from Lara's telephone hotline) NO repair......"but she didn't give me one...but they kept putting me on hold.....but the overseas operator wasn't authorised to issue any numbers...." I pleaded. They were adamant, and to get me off their backs, they explained that they were "only" a private contractor for Vodafone. They sell their products, but don't deal with their problems. So my only chance is to go to the Voda shop...which strangely exists in the same shopping mall only 50 metres away????
So I repeated the same performance 2 minutes later, and unsurprisingly the same unhelpful responses and denial of responsibility.
Their first response at this shop was not so much an apology for the inconveniences, but more akin to a threat: "This is gonna cost you $100 just for an inspection...."
"But isn't the extended warranty which I have unfailingly paid for the past 22 months..."
"No!" he cuts me off..."You STILL have to pay the excess"...
"Alright then", I replied and started thinking about joining my wife's new iPhone 4 plan from a rival telco. "Since I only have 2 months left, what's the cost of paying out my contract?"
He became elusive, and started typing madly, hunched over his computer as if trying to hide my own details from me. Never offering me a seat, he finally barked, "If you want a new phone, you renew your contract NOW!"
"Can I get an iPhone?" I queried.
"Yeah, but you'll have to wait 8 weeks till we're re-stocked".
"OK...." I politely retorted as I mused at the thought of keeping my gammy phone for another 8 weeks. "...So what are my plan options?"
He then snapped out a series of options, still sitting there like he was the school principal whilst I stood like a naughty customer. Not once did he offer me one of the vast library of brochures, or pen or paper whilst I tried jotting down the costs on the back of a shopping docket.
The most useful outcome from this exchange was knowing that when I got my iPhone on the spot in a neighbouring phone dealer, my new plan was considerably cheaper than any of the Voda options. My penalty for early termination of contract is consoled by the knowledge of never having to listen to that annoying Lara again........My sympathies to all my Voda victims out there, and the woman who actually provides Lara's voice.
26 Jan 2011 02:29:27 PM: Optus has their call centre in the Philippines, Vodafone's is in Mumbai.
26 Jan 2011 02:34:49 PM: Vodafone has never offered an "extended warranty" as an option.

Since January 2010 all phones Vodafone sell come with 12 months manufacturers warranty and another 12 months Vodafone repair warranty, it's automatic, you don't pay extra for it as long as you still have an Vodafone SIM in it it's 24 months.

The only exception is iPhones where you can pay Apple for an extended warranty and Apple will take care of any issues.
27 Jan 2011 04:58:38 PM: Sounds like insurance was being mixed-up with warranty here. Hard to tell where the confusion started.

14649 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Completely Useless at 25 Jan 2011 09:37:01 PM
I had incredibly poor service on 3, and was advised by Vodafone to move across to them to fix this issue. EPIC FAIL. I'm now stuck with an EVEN WORSE service than with 3, and at a higher cost than I was on at 3! ARRRRGH!!!

I primarily use my service for Internet access on my iPhone. I am mostly in the Sydney CBD. Every time I try to use the Internet it either doesn't work at all, or it is so slow it's essentially non-usable! I get 5 bars of reception, so no problem with signal to the tower, but it just doesn't work!! This isn't one, this is ALL THE TIME!
WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE FIXED? HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR A SERVICE THAT DOESN'T EXIST???

I stand next to my friends/colleagues using Telstra and their phones are FLYING to the same websites/services. I do a speed test using a speed test app on the phone and I get somewhere between 12 and 20 kbps download speed (when it works), and they are getting between 4mbps (mega bits) and 8mbps. And they are only paying about $20 more a month for the same type of package!

And try dealing with their offshore customer service. WHAT A COMPLETE JOKE. I REFUSE to call them any longer, their method of operations seems to be (after waiting for 45 mins) "I need to transfer you to another dept", then "beep-beep-beep" as I am hung up on. And then another 45 mins to call back and the SAME THING AGAIN. This happened to me EVERY time I called them.

Now I go into a store (where the Vodafone staff member does the same thing and I sit there for half an hour while he waits in the phone for the offshore call centre). At least the people in the store and nice and helpful, poor bas*ards, I dont know how they put up with it without snapping either. They need stress money working for such a completely incompetent company with such incredibly poor customer service such as Vodafone.

Telstra must be laughing all the way to the bank, they couldn't ask for anything better, they must be getting thousands of customers, everyone I know is switching from Voda to Telstra, and this doesn't cost Telstra a cent.

Surely the Vodafone Managing Director in charge of the Australian region needs to resign. How can he continue to allow false contracts to be sold to customers, this is not a temporary glitch, this is a service that does not work, hasn't worked for months, and is being falsely sold to unsuspecting customers (such as me, even if I did get tricked into moving from 3 to Voda).

25 Jan 2011 10:13:10 PM: LOL i know, Telstra are probably laughing there ass off, they didnt even have to pay for a ad campaign or anything people are just flocking to them becoz of how shit vodafone is xD
26 Jan 2011 02:11:42 PM: Vodafone and the 3 network are now one and the same....Talk about monopolies.

after 11 years as a Vodafone customer I have finally given up. Last week I lost a contract due to the fact that I was unable to send an email with the proposal my client wanted. I drove from Manly to Newport (NSW) stopping every 1km or so to resend the email. 2 days later I deleted the email from my outbox, still not having sent. During this period I called Vodafone repeatedly. After being left on hold for 45 minutes I hung up and when I finally got through I was told "sorry" I "dropped out" to which I replied if i dropped out how come I could hear the hold music until I ended the call. I joined Vodafone knowing that regional reception was poor with them and that they concentrated on metro areas. But when I cant get reception in metro areas, when I pay for a 3G service and only get that about 15% of the time it leaves me wondering why I bother! Well I don't anymore. The only way we will let Vodafone know that it's service is substandard and that it cannot treat customers like that, is to vote with our plans and go elsewhere. After much frustration, with call centers that do not listen , reception that drops out and data that just does not work I have finally voted with my custom.

14502 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Unmitigated failure at 24 Jan 2011 07:23:24 PM
Where to start? I started to notice difficulties mid to late 2010 after being a loyal Vodaphone customer for almost two years, never late in paying my bill, regular user etc. Increasingly discovered that people were unable to get through to me, and that they'd not been offered the opportunity to leave any kind of message. Then I started to receive voice messages which indicated that someone had called while my phone was sitting right next to me indicating full signal, no missed call in the log, nothing besides the message to retrieve a voicemail (which of course we have to pay for). I call to ge the message and what do you know, there's more messages on there from up to a week ago that I've had absolutely no notification of - no ring, no 'missed call', no voicemail notification. Then, a massive (over $1400!!!) phone bill for internet usage, when I rarely use the internet, and only for google maps etc certainly not for downloading things but it's claiming I've downloaded 4.5gb over about 12 hours - my phone woudn't even have stayed on for that amount of time, I'd have had to recharge if I was doing anything that resource-heavy !!! Then I went through my bills with a fine-tooth comb and noticed bizarre charges, like one for EXACTLY one hour (1:00:00) almost every date for a couple of kB - what could that possibly be? I have Advanced AppKiller installed and now APNdroid, but I'm not surprised that I'm still charged for internet usage when the Vodaphone TIO resolution officer I spoke to claimed that the phone could continue to download data even when turned off. Really, I asked sarcastically, and with the battery removed too I guess? Oh no, he replied, because you see the power comes from the battery, it's like a little computer.

After not receiving calls, incoming calls failing to ring or notify messages, delays in receiving messages, frankly impossible charges and blatantly incorrect advice from Vodaphone, I am not prepared to accept condescendion or rudeness from 'resolution' staff. I've had enough, I want out of the contract and I never want anything to do with such a irresponsible, arrogant, useless company again.
24 Jan 2011 07:31:27 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page, you will no doubt end up going to the TIO, but follow all of the steps along the way. Best Of Luck :)
25 Jan 2011 07:47:29 AM: Given the current state of the Voda network I am astounded anyone could rack up a $1400 data charge in a month (whether it was intentional or not).
25 Jan 2011 12:34:37 PM: I wouldnt be suprised if your couple of KB every hour was an app like facebook syncing. Check that you dont have any applications set to auto sync every hour. Like your email, facebook etc.

14432 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is How to Terminate at 24 Jan 2011 12:20:21 PM
I was able to terminate my contract due to poor 3G coverage at my home and workplace. I had an Iphone 3GS which relied on 3G coverage to fucntion correctly. Further to this when I was in range the 3G performance did not conform to the standard definition of what a 3G service should represent. You must specifically inform VFone that THEY are in breach of contract and that they have not been ablke to rectify the problem and subsequently you want the service terminated. They will send you a bag to return your handset. Insist on speaking to a supervisor the moment you have been answered. Your other option is to call the business support line (Aust based) and ask to be connected to priority care.. Hope this helps.. Remember Vodafone must perform thier side of the contract just as much as you must perform your side.. If you dont pay they cut you off, so how is it different if they dont perform you cut them off!
GOOD LUCK...

I have been on holidays in Bentley Park (QLD) for about a week and a half and my mobile has been showing 'no service' for all that time!!!
NO SERVICE AT ALL!!! not even roaming nothing... I thought 3 and vodafone were now the same network, but my partner is on 3 and we are now relying on her mobile :(
Bentley Park (QLD) shows full coverage on Vodafone's website... what a joke!!
Dave
24 Jan 2011 10:46:58 AM: If someone told you that 3 and Vodafone use the same network you should fully complain. Vodafone's coverage is unchanged since the merger (i.e. still uses the Joint Venture 2100 network in the Citys and thier own "Nationwide" network as well as thier own GSM network). 3 on the other hand have the option of using thier own 3G network, the Vodafone GSM network, Telstra GSM network, Telstra Next G network. (Obviously it depends on the handset if it can access all these networks) So this would explain why you are getting better coverage with 3. Such a shame the 3 network is shutting down and Vodafail are forcing everyone across to Voda.

14302 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is VERY VERY FAIL at 23 Jan 2011 12:37:37 PM
I have two phones on plans with vodafone. After 6 months one of them started playing up, after a LONG and DIFFICULT process (including sending the phone of for repair 3 times, which all proved to be completely unsuccessful at fixing it),
Vodafone agreed to exchange it for a different phone.
They gave me three phones as options for exchange. (I would soon come to realise that any of the three phones they allowed me to exchange it for all had MAJOR faults. If anything they were agreeing to exchange it for one of them simply to get rid of the phones).

I ended up choosing one, after WEEKS my new exchange phone arrived in the mail! I turned it on, and within an hour I realised it's Wifi was faulty and playing up. Took it back and they gave me the same phone except a different handset. Same phone, same problem. Looked up solutions on the web and it appears the design of the phone is the reason for its poor wifi...so it's the manufacturers fault? no. It's vodafones fault for providing that faulty phone to begin with!

I took it back today, and they said they can't exchange it or send it for repair because it was already an exchanged phone.

They basically implied that I'm somehow trying to scam them. Yeah, right. I LOVE going to vodafone every day and wasting my time arguing with employees who don't know half as much about cell phones as I do.

Way to go vodafone! I'm sure the evil, nasty, and greedy consumers are trying to screw over the friendly, understanding, and innocent corporation!

14244 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No coverage, dropouts at 23 Jan 2011 05:43:27 AM
Me & my wife's mobile coverage, particularly in our home is terrible. I can rarely have a conversation on the mobile as I cannot hear anything & eventually the line drops out. I have the expense of calling the person back on my land line.

Incoming calls rarely come through & generally go straight to voicemail where thereafter I have the expense of calling my voicemail & then the expense of calling the person back on a land line.

I can receive SMS messages hours after the person has sent them. Similarly when I send SMS messages.

This level of service (or lack of) has been going on for months & I cannot continue like this.

I have emailed vodafone about this issue & they replied with an auto generated email response saying:

Vodafone's GSM (2G) network covers up to 94.52%* of the Australian population. Our GPRS (2.5G) network covers 92% of the places you live and work in Australia. 3G available to 94% of the Australian population.

I live in Kingsford in Sydney (2032), 5kms from the CBD. Their response doesn't cut it.

I have also previously called Vodafone & they initial call, I haven't heard anything back.

13965 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No internet ever at 21 Jan 2011 03:33:59 PM
My partner and I are with Crazy John's who deal for Vodafone. We have had internet issues for almost a year now and have gotten as far with tech support as replacing our sim cards and having our service disconnected then reconnected. Upon reconnection we received a call asking if the net was working and we told them it was working but still not well. They just said ok and hung up. Ring back 2 weeks later to find out why we have had no further tech support and they had put in the notes that we had told them the internet was working fine.

The notes they have on our account are nothing but lies they have made up to get out of actually having to do anything. Instore can't help because they just have to ring tech support like us. Tech support has also lied to the store staff trying to help us just to get rid of them. Tech support has also hung up on me because I told them to shut up when they kept talking over me. I didn't even swear I just told him he needs to shut up..

Still have no internet and still haven't gotten more tech support months later
22 Jan 2011 08:24:14 AM: I would have hung up on you too if you to told me to shut up. Really, that's no way of endearing someone who you are trying to get to help you.
22 Jan 2011 05:58:01 PM: He wasn't trying to help me. He was only interested in telling me the lies other customer service people had written on the account and was constantly talking over me. I told him to shut up considering I couldn't get a word in edgewise with him just sprouting all the crap that was written on the account which in no way coincides with what is actually happening on the account
24 Jan 2011 10:55:08 AM: I must admit having worked for Vodafone in the past the Tech support guys kinda have this thing where if they cant help you they try to confuse you and keep talking jargon just to confuse you enough that you hang up thinking they are working on your problem.

Vodafone network reception is the worst reception possible. After spending over 3 hours on hold with goodpta singh and goopta nagi they tried telling me they were going to build a new tower in my area to fix my network problems. In the next few months too they tell me. When is the due date? Oh, it hasnt actually been approved yet. Lies.

I bought the Desire HD, and they have deliberately shafted their customers by getting HTC to not implement the 850Mhz frequency, so I cant even take it to Telstra when I'm finished with these lying, theiving, criminals. On top of that the phone sucks on so many levels its not funny.

Whats that? Over 60% of the time your phone has no reception? Oh well, thats normal isnt it? Yeh right, I monitor mobile equipment using Telstra's NextG network, even in vehicles driving around all kinds of places it works over 99% of the time. Sorry, VODAFONE NETWORK FAAAAAAIIIIILLLLLLL!

I have been ripped off by Vodafone. Take the phone back to the store for support, and they have got it down pat on how to get you out the door in record time. Any vodafone store is purely, 100% sales based. They do not have any stores where you can get support. Support is completely done by calling old mate singh in india and getting inane, useless, totally ridiculous answers. You can't even tell what they are saying half the time. Then they tell me the answer is to turn 3G off. Yeh right. Buy a smart phone so you cant use the Internet. Thats a little oxymoron, contravenes the Trade Practices Act really.

I have been attempting to deal with 1555 for a while now, and they do not call me back. I have been very polite when dealing with them. My story is now going to the TIO.

Thanks for NOTHING vodafone.
24 Jan 2011 11:00:55 AM: While i agree Vodafone is poor you cant get angry over not implementing some certain network band such as the 850MHz band. Working for a vendor I know the issues surrounding the different bands. As the 850 band is mainly implemented in the USA mobile handset vendors do a predominant amount of development in the US which takes longer than the European version (i.e. 900MHz version) SO in the interest of not losing time to market to the likes of Optus they are forced to go ahead with the European version. In some cases handsets support both 850 and 900 bands but at the moment this is Rare (Only some Nokia's and the IPhone at this stage)

25 Jan 2011 01:02:12 PM: It would be worth clickng on the How to Complain link on ths site before you even start, because you will need records. I think you should be able to get out of your contract penalty free AND be reimbursed for the injury to your business. That is with the TIO.

Also, it is worth considerng the class action against Vodafone
