Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

No recpetion on my phone, paying internet for almost 6 months without any form of internet connection. Billing system is disastrous. Vodafone sent a billed on my wrong address, payment didnt get on time and now I have a default credit rating against my name, however all address's were updated but still fail to get the bills to the correct address. customer service is worst in my experience dealing with any retail outlet.

I've been with Vodafail for a few years now and it has been gradually getting worse!. It often takes ages to connect when I try and make a call if it manages to at all!. I also have a prepaid internet stick and at times it will take over 10 minutes to load even the google search engine page!. It's supposed to be using 3G network and my phone that's sitting next to the computer loads the page in 5 secs. I rang the customer service and they explained that between the hours of 8 - 11pm there is an increased traffic on the net and so it might be slower. Why was I not told this when I purchased the internet stick?. Funnily though, as soon as I've run out of internet credit the top up page comes up faster than lightning. Boo on you Vodafone!! Way to lose your customers...OH and don't even get me started on the incredibly frustrating LARA customer service voice system!
8491 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is customer service at 29 Dec 2010 02:23:02 PM
I got the vodafone prepaid broadband last month, it came with 3gb of data. the customer service staff said that once its finished i can come back and convert it to the post-paid month-by month plan. i asked them specifically if i need to need to bring any documents and they said no. when i got back to convert after 2 weeks or so, the staff wouldn't do it and gave me a list of documents to bring. they were rude and wouldn't even listen to us. The worst customer service ever!!!
29 Dec 2010 02:29:03 PM: my mum got the same problem. i got her the $49 prepaid modem & it came with 1GB. she was told the same thing about going onto the month to month internet plan. she went up to the store to do it but she got knocked back (didn't get approved). she was told that she would get a letter in the mail explaining why she got knocked back. she's still waiting for the letter. i had the month to month vodafone internet put in my name. what a fucking hassle that was. i rang vodafonefone weeks ago to have the bill sent out to me in the mail but the stupid retards at vodafone reckoned they emailed it to me which they didn't. fuck them i say.

8490 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pretty FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 02:22:52 PM
I have been with Vodafone for years.. I really don't know why. I think it's because now I have half my family on Vodafone for the free V2V calls and I'm stuck with them. I can't tell you how many times I have been charged for internet on my 'blackberry with free internet' plan. To call them and get the charges reversed takes a minimum of 3 transfers in their callcentre and then the problems are never resolved. To resolve this I have been on hold for over one hour on 3 separate calls. I ring, immediately on hold.. speak to someone, get transferred.. wait 20mins on hold, after describing my issue for the second time, transferred again, another 15mins on hold, someone answers and hangs up immediately without even speaking to me. Issue not resolved, another call, more time on hold. It is so bad I have literally been in tears more than once in frustration with vodafone. Now I am trying to buy a prepaid for my daughters Xmas present. I cannot load the site for days, when I do, I try to 'add to cart' and it has an error. They aren't selling this phone instore. I try again, no luck. Call online customer sales, they can't sell it to me either because it's a prepaid. Yes they are having difficulty with their website, please try again in 4 hours. So frustrated again at this point. I ring back - 'please say what you are after' "COMPLAINT".. 'Unfortunately there will be a... 20min.. wait to speak to someone'. 20mins?! 20mins on hold to complain?!? OMG I am on hold to complain about being on hold and getting crappy customer service! "Buy before the 20th Dec for delivery before Xmas"... it's now the 19th. Try to call again, one last time, speak to a lovely person located in TAS (wow! not many of them left at Vodafone) but she still can't help me because it's a prepaid. I send a screenshot of this offer through to their online feedback form. I get a response saying "I can't find this offer, but we have some lovely contracts for you". I reply again "as per my previously attached screenshot, the offer is clearly shown on your website, can you confirm you are not willing to give me the offer as advertised and shown in my screenshot'. Someone will get back to me. It's now 29/12 and no reply for 7 days. I try again on the website.. still stuffed. So here I am. And this is not even the half of it.. just some of the issues I have had. Why am I with Vodafone?? That's right, all of them are just as bad as each other.

8486 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 29 Dec 2010 02:19:14 PM
I have been a vodafone user for about 6 years. I can handle the intermitant and weak vodafone reception but what I won't put up with is poor customer service.
I called the Vodafone call centre after my phone started sending multiple sms messages to recipients. I was left on hold for 40 minutes at 8pm on a sunday night. My call was picked up for about a minute, no one spoke to me and I could hear laughing and conversation in the background. My call was then placed back in the queue and I hung up. I have worked in a call centre and there is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour. I have now moved my business elsewhere.

My partner and me have been with the sevice for nearly 4 years have complained numerous times regarding the service in our area been told next month, then will be updated again the following oh no will be another 2 months and it is always another excuse. My partners phone got lost and we rang the police and vodaphone as phone insured and they took all the details and said would be about 4 weeks before received phone in mail. We went on holidays still nothing over 5 weeks later rang again and was told need info sent to them now to say own phone and also $250 added onto account as to do with insurance that is so wrong that's why we pay insurance on the phone and were never told about this charge. We couldn't find papers at home of when we got the phone so went to our local vodaphone where got the phone which was a Iphone 3 and they had upgraded computer systems and moved to new premises in same place and no record of even getting the phone told to go to another store 20 mins away and they will be able to help and give us a copy of our record. Seems very fumny. Went to that store still no record of phone being purchased or anything this was ridiculous. My partner contacted vodaphone again after another week of trying to get info and they said ok we will send out phone.
How is it that even they have no information of the phone or details yet we pay an account ever month and still have till August 2011 till contract finishes. Phone arrived finally and had to activate sim and the shop couldnt even do that and they were rude in regard to activating. We rang customer service and that took over an hour to finally get it activated as had to wait for someone to answer the phone.
We also have wireless internet and have no service most days as with our mobiles not getting messages or even phone calls and people ask why don't you answer sorry never received message or phone call, sometimes come days later. very disappointed and i am waiting to finish contract and change to another provider.

me and my 2 flat mates are all using vodafone internet sticks, for the past 3 months now the servicice is constantly disconnecting and re ceconnecting after a few minutes and running at very poor speed,
for a space of a week we could hardly connect at all, i called up twice to complain about this and got no where, after the call operator going through services of trying 2 make out it was my computer that was at fault ( which i kept sayin it couldnt be as 3 of us were having the problem) the call server then said it appears my computer correct and then suggested i just go 2 a different area to use my internet, so basically there were not helpful 1 bit
also my phone is vodafone and when on calls constantly keeps dropping in and out of calls and even disconnects me, which is a massive pain as i do alot of calls over seas so just 2 reconnect calls hits my credit and friends credit on the pocket

I do not have a home phone and my mobile that is 8 months old doesnt access the internet, will not recieve calls (people tell me it says this person is uncontactable at the moment) , disconnects calls and is late in sending and recieving txt's. I've been to the vodafone stores that are local to me (2 out of 3 are being renovated) the store that is open doesnt have any loan phones left because someothers are having the same issue, i was yelled at and told to "get over it. ". I wasnt impressed with this service so i called theire customer service centre where i was on hold for 1 hour and they just simply told me that i'd need to contact my local store. This was over month ago now and still there are no loan phones. This is my only course of contact to ,y family. I am a mum and need my phone for when my daughter is at preschool and also in case of emergencies. This is rediculous. Vodafone need to fix this situation or let us out of our contracts free of charge.

poor reception, bad customer service, it took 2 weeksw to lodge a claim for handset insunce they wanted me to drive 7 hours to hand my handset in at a different vodafone store then the one closes to me. they put a bar on my fone when i still had 2 days to pay it.
8445 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is nothing but problems at 29 Dec 2010 01:38:21 PM
After being with Vodafone for 19 months the reception and drop outs progressively became worse and worse on both my mobile and mobile broadband. I lost count of how many times I was told by VF to uninstall and reinstall my broadband and how often I would have poor to no coverage on my mobile. Going into a VF store I was told my particular house was in a poor coverage area....I live in a well established central suburb in a free standing house not in a concrete underground apartment surrounded by hills.
In frustration I changed providers then got hit with a $550 final bill even though in store they told me my payout figure was $330. I had to cancel my mobile broadband by phoning customer service - 5 times I phoned and either got cut off or left a message for someone to call me back, I even emailed VF asking. A week went by and I had no call back, I rang again and after being on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes I finally spoke to someone who was so rude to me over cancelling my broadband even though the plan was finished she tried everything to get me to keep my business and seemed annoyed at the fact that I had poor coverage in my house.
Vodafone need to improve their coverage, call centre customer service and waiting times. I yet have to resolve the apparent $550 cancellation?
Much happier with my new provider.

8395 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Maximum at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:54 PM
Brief story 1: I was charged $700 for international roaming where Vodafail claimed I downloaded 42 GIG of data - onto an 8gb iPhone! Took me about two solid days to fix upon my return.
Story 2: Was billed excessive use charges ($180) on an $80 capped plan without major increase in useage. Called 1555 to complain and after 30 mins on hold, connected to an Indian call centre: he offered to delete my excess useage if I switched to the new 'infinite' plan. Initially I declined as my 24 month plan ends in two months and I'm counting down the days so I can exit, so I didn't want to 're-sign'. He assured me - after me asking four times - that my contract would still end in two months. ASSURED me!!
One week later I visited a Vodafail store to check, and the f-wit HAD signed me up for another two years!!! This was voice recorded! The Sydney instore guy was helpful and had it sorted after 20 mins (after two call dropouts to the call centre!) but after three weeks, I have just got my latest bill and now my latest charge is $250 on my $80 cap!!! And I barely use my phone. Aaaarrrggghhh!!! And I won't go into the dropped calls, the poor service or any other problem. Vodafone, your service, your network and your call centres are a joke!

I thought phone companies were supposed to provide adequate phone service at the very LEAST???? How can they still be in business!!??
Customer service... Vodafone you should be ashamed of yourself.... over an hour waiting on hold and still no resolution or they simply say 'I will all you back' and of course they don't. They started my new contract before I even had my iphone delivered, jamming texts, poor phone coverage, call drop outs constantly.... the list goes on... If you can't provide good phone or customer service, then don't PRETEND and LIE like you do.

I have two phones connected to my account. One I use and the other my 15yrs old daughter uses. She continually complains to me about her network coverage. She travels to and from school on a chartered bus service to her school. The phone is for her safety and security to contact either of her parents or other person in the event she misses the bus or is involved in after school activities where she can contact someone to pick her up. The original handset which was part of the contract practically disintegrated after 9 months and when I asked at the shop front where the contract was signed the same shop assistant pointed me in the direction of the manufacturers repair centre taking no responsibility for the poorly performing handset which they provided.
I have since purchased a new handset to replace the not paper weight provided initially.
Additionally even with the new handset when my daughter is at home the service coverage is not very strong.
I infrequently travel for business purposes and the personal and the supplied business phones are both vodafail and the coordination to meet clients has cost me time and frustration with clients.
On a separate issue I rang the call centre to access My Vodafone, as every time I have tried to log in to sort out my own problems I get incorrect user name or password. I rang to reset my password update my account balance, left a message for them to call back they said 23min. 28min later i called again and left another message for them to call me with a 45min wait time.
My second logged call was returned first after over an hour. The password was reset, asked about my balance they assured me the information had been updated. I logged in to see that the details had not been updated and that my request had been ignored. While logged in a received the first return call now over 1.5hrs after the due 23min not quiet 2hrs later. The call centre person was rude and dismissed me when i explained the situation that this return call is over 1.5hrs later than the information provided.
I sent an email to complain and was provided with a very automated please contact the manufacturer of the handset, if the handset is part of the contract then the responsibility under the contract as its their contract part of their responsibility to provide service to that contract.
They wanted to know the name and store location as a way of satisfying my compliant on their poor service performance both at the call centre and at the shop fronts, the coverage, contract serviceability and dispute resolution.

Change from 3 to Vodafone because I was told from a 3 representative that where I live the network will be much better. Note: 3 and Vodafone have the same parent company nowadays and they did not want to lose me I reckon.
95% of the time when I am at home, I don't have reception. It's really a pain and I have end up using my home phone now. But my partner has an optus and I do have a telstra for work and they both have reception.
The 3G internet is always very very slow. Can't even look for something on the internet. And it is the case in the city too. Whereas other service providers are quick.
Customer care is zero. You have to wait for nearly one hour before you get someone to talk to you.
When I got my phone, it was without a sim card in it. For nearly one month, I was without a working phone. And despite calling numerous times and waiting several hours on the customer service.
All I can say is the coverage map on the Vodafone website is not a real one. Don't take it into consideration. Their signal keep dropping out and it is even more stressful. Cheap but not worth. Go for optus or telstra.

I have been a Vodafone customer for a number of years and cannot believe the decline in service over the past two years. I have been trying to call customer service from my mobile phone and the number just disconnects. I then tried the sales number and a rep answered within 20 seconds. Once she realised i was already a Vodafone customer I was then placed in a Que with a wait time of over 30 mins. It appears Vodafone has adopted the Sol Trulio business model.

Until two years ago, Vodafone was great -- immediate connection to a human, fast service and the rest. It is now a disaster. Complaining to the company doesn't work; I've done it about six times and asked for the CEO's office. No luck there. It's not the call centre employees in India's fault, it's the company and the executives of Vodafail who allow a Telco to operate this way. The billing is a mess, there is no customer service, reception is dodgy, especially data connection, and the waiting time and failure to fix problems is reason enough to not stay with Vodafail.

got approx 3 months to go on a two year vodafone contract. apart from the phone breaking, and being told there was nothing that could be done, i am extremely frustated with calls dropping out, texts not being sent nor received. But most infuriating was my $700 phone bill which i received and ended up paying because i could not have a conversation with an operator due to being cut out on. an unhappy customer tells on average 8-20 people of their poor service, thanks vodafone i have served you, the way you have served me.

5 Jan 2011 11:08:37 PM: I completely agree with the comment above, being annoyed that "Customer Service" is being handled by people who are not fluent in your language is NOT customer service. while the person above is emotive and angry he does'nt use racism. Racism would be saying "I this the Indian customer service team are a bunch of idiots". I bugs me how so many topics have become socially tabo under the "racism" flag.
6 Jan 2011 11:32:41 AM: getting ripped off with lousy service isnt anything to do with racism, having people ill equipped to perform a job with language issues is the most frustrating experience ever..Lets face it as Aussies we tend to call a spade a spade if we are unhappy we tend to voice it in the most basic and verbal manner. If that is racism you may want to look at your own interpretation of the politically correct handbook which coming from my experience is hell bent on pandering to those that believe it is possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

6 Jan 2011 04:05:38 PM: @6 Jan 2011 01:32:41 PM:I feel genuinely nauseated after reading you verbose reply- you "Aussie"- hardly "the most basic and verbal manner". In fact, it resembled basic slick PR Politician spin, with an ante-diluvian attitude and hidden agenda- so, wild guess, you're "underemployed" after we Aussies flushed away the Little Turd on November 24 2007?
Or overworked spamming for Voodoofone? You tell me, you "Aussie". BTW, most of us write it as WE say it- "Ozzie"

How can someone try to help you if they cannot understand you and you can't understand them !!!!!! This is not racism it is just FACT....

I am with 3 Mobile, who I beleive has been taken over by Vodafone. I have to always walk outside my house to get reception, also at work (and I work 2 mins down the road from 3 head office) I get no reception inside our office and have to go on the balcony. Sometimes I look at my phone and it says "No Service" so I have to turn my phone off then back on but they I get coverage.. Customer Service at 3 Mobile is terrible also.

I am with the 3 network and they were fine until they were bought by vodaphone. I am on the $69 plan and was paying around $70-$80 a month. As soon as vodaphone tool control my bills are now in excess of $200. I have done nothing different in the way I use the phone. I was not informed by 3 that they were being sold to vodaphone and when I called them, after hours of being on hold, their help desk was anything buy helpful and I was left with no questions being answered. I am now stuck with a rediculous plan that doesnt meet any of their side of the contract, no reseption and no way out of the contract for another year. This phone company is an absolute joke and I would even say it is a crimanl act.
29 Dec 2010 10:24:20 AM: 3 and Vodafone aren't using the same network it's not as simple as just flicking a switch, if you are having 3 problems then it has nothing to do with the voda problems, just ask Telstra
29 Dec 2010 10:27:34 AM: Yea they are still using Telstra, ironically it's because they are still in contract with them! Hee hee hee

I have two phones on the vodafone network for the past 8 weeks. During this time I have had next to no internet access in Belconnen, Civic and Kambah. Phone calls drop out all the time. Delayed SMS. In addition to that the credits that should have been applied to both accounts ($100 on one and 1 month free plus $50 on the other) have not been honored despite 4 phone calls to customer service.
I am now trying very hard to exit these contracts. Worst phone experience ever.

Aside from non-existant reception and lousey customer service, are my husband and myself the only ones that have had epic problems getting our mobile phones unlocked from vodacrap? We bought our Nokea E71 phones from vodacrap outright, on pre-paid, now we want to change carriers, and vodacrap have said they are unable to unlock our phones. I spent all last Thursday on the phone to them trying to get some answers and got no where.Has anyone else had this problem ?
2 Jan 2011 09:55:12 PM: Yes. I was assured when I bought my phone outright that unlocking it would only take a few moments online. It actually took a month of calls and emails. It's now finally unlocked - woohoo! Getting the service cancelled and a final account sent looks like it will take a while too. But I'll be rid of them eventually....

I live in Brisbane city and do not receive network coverage in my home. This is a joke as I am not living in the bush. I have to try and move around the house to get a signal. Max bars I receive are 1. Because the coverage is so bad I have also had to for the first time in approx 5yrs have a landline connected. Also as part of the service I pay for I am actually unable to get inet access and the little wheel just spins around & around.. am fed up with watching this and being unable to use the service I pay for. Sometimes I will try to make a call and it just won't connect until after 5 attempts. Text messages are also a big problem! Sometimes it will take 2hrs to receive a text from friends. One weekend my phone just kept texting the same message to my friend over 20 times during the day.
The customer service is appalling from the shops to that stupid voice recorded "Lara" and I am sick of trying to explain to someone in Egypt my problems and where I live

I have been with Vodafone since 12 December. I was previously with 3 and experienced the usual service issues but always had excellent customer service. Since my contract with Vodafone began I have had little to no reception. My first day the entire network was down. I received a free wifipocket with my contract and have never had reception to be able to use it. I called customer support after trying the usual troubleshooting options and after being on hold for about 30 minutes rused the option for them to call me back. 2 hours later I get a call back to be told I need to be transfered to another area was put on hold for 5 minutes and when i eventually got through I managed to relay my name and the nature of my support issue and then the reception dropped out. Any calls I make or receive only last for 6 - 8 minutes before dropping out due to connection error. Had I known about this site earlier I never would have committed to a contract with this provider. Good on you for initiating this site and allowing people to stand up and be heard!!

There has been countless times that i have been without coverage for up to a week at a time. Being in regional South Australia i was told after inquiring a few times to Vodafone Customer Service the reason why there is no coverage. I was told that Vodafone was upgrading to 3G in our area and it has never eventuated. Now with my contract Vodafone seems quite content in taking my money every month and i have never had a customer service representative( in the last 2-3 years) call and ask if i was happy with the service. Now after almost 10 years of being with Vodafone i am very disappointed and disheartened that i will be cancelling my contract with them when it expires.

No service, messages sometimes delayed by hours, calls dropping out, phone shows full signal but cant make calls, contacts trying for up to 4 days to finally get through. Tried to get thru to customer service from a public phone and put on hold for over 35 minutes, so went to a vodafone store some 30 kms away, only to be told my phone was fawlty. Produced phone and to their astonishment it worked. Told me they couldnt help and to ring customer service.

I live in the Sydney area and have been with Vodafone for many years. Since I upgraded 6 months ago to my new smart phone, I've had problems with poor internet service, barely any 3G coverage. I've also had sms problems but fortunately these have been limited. I rang Vodafone on an unrelated matter recently and was placed on hold on 2 occasions for nearly 20 minutes each time with no answer. I hung up both times with no answer. I will say when I was finally able to speak with a real person rather than Lara, the staff were very helpful. Its a shame that the staff are let down by poor service in the management of the company.

I am constantly dealing with not being able to access applications, receiving SMS's MMS's DAYS later, phone calls that dont come through, friends/family/colleagues constantly complaining that they cant reach me. I have lived in two areas recently that are by no means remote and very close to Sydney City, why on earth should my maximum service bar be 2 the majority of the time!? Then to get any help/service I have to wait forever on hold to speak to someone who gives you advice things such as 'try turning your phone off' or blame the reception on the new Iphone. I have always had trouble dealing with bad customer service from Vodafone but am now kicking myself that I stayed with them as the service is only getting WORSE!

Had new Nokia which died in 2 days. Got a new one which also died in 2 days. Checked another new one before leaving store which also was a dud. Vodafone stressed how much it isn't their problem and if we wanted to exit 5 day old contract and hand back brand new phone in box we had to pay remainder of contract so we are forced to endure 24 months of terrible service and customer service you would expect from a dodgy car salesman.
YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE STAFF PLAYING BALL GAMES IN THE SHOP WHEN THEY THINK NO ONE IS LOOKING.

I have wireless internet at home with Vodafone Pocket wifi. I'm in Griffith. So far no major probs except for some pages really slow to load-my Telstra iphone loads faster but is more expensive so don't want to use at home.
My one major issue was with inadequate customer service refusing to tell me MY WIFI key needed for when some one else here needed to access internet. I'd given customer service all other details...serial number/account detail/sim card number/mob number of modem/name etc....what's with all the secrecy?!!
Customer support guy could not understand what we wanted to do and it took ages- him telling us to do useless things and he kept calling the WIFI key by another name so we didn't actually know that's what he was talking about-useless.......and there was no internet access at all because initially wrong number was put in so it disconnected my wireless...eventually after giving up/hanging up I found the tiny sticker with the WIFI key number on it....

I've left Vodafone for Virgin after finishing a two year contract. Never was I able to receive 3G reception on my phone despite being told that my area had 3G coverage before entering the contract. I told numerous customer service people, who's response was to look at the Vodafone coverage map and say "well you area should be covered by 3G". Well it's not. And not one of those people decided to do anything about the feedback I gave them to suggest that 3G was not working properly in my region. Swapping to virgin on the Optus network has put my internet speed through the roof, compared to what it was while I was with Vodafone. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
8231 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgraceful Service at 29 Dec 2010 10:17:55 AM
I've been with Vodafone for about 2.5 years. I saw one contract out (a corporate one), then a few months ago my partner and I bought retail iPhone plans. While the signal has generally been ok for us, we do live in the middle of Sydney and don't travel to outlying or regional areas very often. That said, in the last month, things have changed.
Recently, we've had many problems with undelivered and delayed SMSs and extensive delays with voicemail notification. Worse still, we've been unable to call out countless times over the last couple of weeks due to apparent network congestion. This is entirely unacceptable. Excuses of huge influx of customers and the takeover of 3 are invalid - Vodafone should have made provision for this from the outset. It only serves to prove how incompetent the management are at all levels.
Customer service at Vodafone is a complete joke, to say the least. I've made countless calls that have proved fruitless, often because I simply don't have the time to wait for hours for Mr/Ms Patel in Mumbai to answer my call, and when they do, I get no satisfaction other than insincere and rehearsed responses. Emails are seemingly not read by a human, as the automated responses (if you get one), do not address the original message.
I've also had reason to contact Vodafone on behalf of a friend who is on the same corporate contract I had until recently. Although the Vodafone website stated (at the time) specifically that calls to the corporate number 135888 will go to an English-speaking person located in Australia, they did not. They went to Mumbai, or somewhere in that part of the world. Despite that, I was thankfully able to avoid that stupid, time-consuming and frustrating Lara, which/who should be shot and buried, along with those in this company who have driven it into the ground in recent times. Nevertheless, the problems were not resolved, and that was two months ago. We keep trying.
Vodafone needs a shake-up. While all telco's suffer the same cost and customer service cutting drives, this is by far the worst in my experience. They are not providing the service that they purport to offer, which is tiresome, frustrating and costly.

I signed up for a whiz bang offer in 2001. I ended up with a phone that was so big it wouldn't fit in my pocket (motorola a series). The problems began the moment I walked out the door. The battery would last just 4 hours in standby. I'd carry two batteries with me just to last the day. Support said that it was normal! Bullshit!
The network coverage was worse than telstra by a country mile. I couldn't make calls indoors from an office in balwyn, just a few km from the cbd! Hopeless.
The phone from hell would not be repaired. The customer service was non existent. So I stopped paying the bill and whenever they rang me with demands for payment, I told them payment would be made immediately if they give me a replacement handset.
I think you know how this ends. Bill goes to debt collectors. I tell them to suck it. Account holder get nasty annotation in credit file. I complain. They get written off.
Anyway, about a year ago we moved up to the nsw border and my wife was with voda despite my dramas earlier (they never listen). No signal in the town. Not even 2g. Nothing.
So sometimes we'd get one bar from the next town. One fleeting bar of signal. But most of the time the phone just sat searching and chewing through battery.
Needless to say they expected us to pay out the contract. Yeah right. So I threaten to call the tio. Of course we'll let you leave early, they say.
Worst telco in the country. Don't use.

I sent an email to Vodafone and got the below response... I followed the instructions and called the provided 1300 number but it was NOT the disconnections department but the general contact line. The woman who answered the phone was very polite but but had no idea of Who 'Lara' was. She put me on hold to find the right area for me.. when she returned SHE SAID SHE TALKED TO SOMEONE IN THE RIGHT AREA AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND SHE IS PUTTING ME RIGHT THROUGH TO THIS PERSON.... I WAS THEN ON HOLD FOR 20 MINUTES AND GAVE UP.

My email to Vodafone:
Hi,
I have been very frustrated over the past months with poor service from my Sydney Elizabeth Bay address. However it wasn't too much worse than the Optus service I swapped over from.
I have now moved to 6-8 Oxley Ave in Redcliffe QLD and the service level is way below acceptable. I have a problem with 90% of calls. Either the call won't connect at all or the reception is so poor I can't understand a think or the call drops out half way through. About 40% of the time people try and call me it goes straight to voice mail.
I rely on my Mobile for business and this is not acceptable service by any standard.
I want Vodafone to let me out of the contract and take the phone back at no penalty.
I am very frustrated by now and need to let you know I will pursue this relentlessly in public and legal if necessary.

My husband and I have now suffered for 12 months of our 24 months contract with Vodafone using Vodafone Blackberry Bold Handsets. I am a full time working mother 32 weeks pregnant and a 2 year old at home. We have no home phone connected. A reliable mobile phone handset and mobile service provider is all I am asking.
VODAFONE PLEASE - release us from our contracts so we can find a provider that we can rely on should an emergency arise in our home. If I go into labour or have a sick child I have to leave our home and stand out on our street to make a phone call. We have stayed for over 12 months, I'm sure we have paid our dues.
Vodafone Service Problems
- No service coverage in our own home in Cameron Park (Newcastle) intermittent poor to no covereage within about a 2 hour travel radius in any direction. We have moved house and the problem moved with us. We are actually return customers to Vodafone and on resigning I was assured that their network coverage had been dramatically improved and I shouldn't have the same problems relating to service for our area.
- Made multiple attempts to call Vodafone Customer Service for assistance and are advised the wait could be anywhere from 20 - 40 minutes regardless of the time called. On one occasion when i could endure the wait I was told someone from technical support would phone back and I never received a call.
- Solution offered by Vodafone is to take both of our handsets into the Vodafone store they were purchased from (which has now closed down) and they will send them away for testing - another inconvenience. Also advised if I can't find our proof of purchase documents they can't help despite them having complete details of our purchase, handset, and contracts on file.
Vodafone Handset Problems
- Both Blackberrys continually turn themselves off, both midway through calls and while not being used. Progressively getting worse over time and now takes up to 6 hours to turn itself back. (I have a Telstra Blackberry (same model) which works without the same problems.
- Vodafone sends no notification to it's Blackberry customers of software upgrades or when they are available which are essential for efficient Blackberry operation. Have to search the web to find them yourselves.

To Whom it May Concern:
I have just got off the phone after WAITING well over an HOUR for my concerns to be heard, only to have the women on the other end of the phone tell me that "I have to ring back between 8am and 8pm" to talk to someone who can help.
To say I am disgusted and disappointed is an understatement. Considering this ladies voice comes on every 5minutes saying "sorry for the delay we will be with you shortly". Please explain to me how WAITING over an hour is being with me shortly?
All I am trying to do is CANCEL my Vodafone account when my contract runs out on the 29th of December 2010.
I have been with Vodafone for quiet some time now, but that will end on the 29th of December 2010.
I will be going through a different company where the Customer comes FIRST!!!
Regards,
A Disappointed Customer
PS I have also rung Vodafone on another occasion only to be hung up on. I do not understand how they have any customers left.

I have had an account with this company for over ten years with no plan, I elected to go onto a plan due to the fact I also required another two phones for family, I also wanted one bill. this process took me one hour at a retail shop, 6 months later still have not done what I asked, I have pushed arround from department to another put on hold, dropped out calls they do not return calls. I have an expectation of customer service there is none. Sell a contract next move on, they can not get the contract right. I said I would take my buinses elsewhere, they said they would take legal action against me and they also said they will ensure my credit history will be effected. I'm happy to be apart of any class action.

Hi i've been spending the last two days trying to sort out this mess Vodafone has put us in. I haven't been getting decent coverage for well over 4 months now. I have been to stores on numerous occasions and have only ever been referred to the incredibly long waiting call centre. So with some time on my hands decided to sort this mess out with them, believe it or not i actually got somewhere yesterday however when i had to talk tot he Loyalty Department was cut off and unable to get a hold of them again. Now on day 3 of trying to sort this crap out and am currently sitting on hold still to speak to the loyalty department, just about to hit an hour wait as well. This is absolute poor customer service no one should be expected to wait this long to sort out any issue and the staff in stores should be much better trained and equipped to deal with issues.I know if i was to give out such poor service at my work we wouldn't have a company to work for much longer, due to not being able to keep any business.

I have been with vodafone for over 4 years. For the first 3 & 1/2 years their reception and customer service were spot on. Over the last 6 months however, myself and my partner find that a lot of our calls constantly drop out, some txt take hours to send and when they arrive, two or three of the same message are received. I have tried to upgrade my plan to a bigger monthly cap, and in store staff pretty much said the only thing they can do is start new plans, they were no help at all. When I did call Vodafone I was on hold on 3 occasions for just over an hour each time. I never got through to them as the first two I gave up waiting and the 3rd time I was disconnected. Will be going elsewhere when my contract is up in 2 months.

Poor reception - situated under the harbour bridge - still can't get reception.
Somebody shoot Lara! Waited for hours on the phone to contact customer support (and I do mean hours) to be told that my issue about being unable to log in to MyVodaphone issue was temporary and would be resolved straight away. Now a month later still can't connect!
They should lose their licence as these issues are not accidents - poor service is one thing, Lara is deliberate and crap and their lying non customer service is a disgrace.
Lets take them on - apparently all calls to the onbudsman cost them $60!

I live in Mascot, NSW (2020)
When i joined Vodafone sister company (Three) in June this year i was told from a three sales assistance (by phone) that three had great coverage in my area. I also doubled checked this up on three own website, which confirmed that there was good coverage in my area.
After than joining three, little did i know that the service of three in my area and most of the suburbs in and around my area of the eastern suburbs had next to no service at all.
I have to walk 50meters up my road just to get some sort of coverage. At my sister house in Botany 2019, there is no coverage at all. I also do notice when driving around the Eastern suburbs area my phone coverage will go from 1 bar to roaming.
I ring up there customer service centre and complain almost ever week and i always get the same excuse that there must be maintenance of the service going on in my area and it should be fixed soon (without giving me date)
They did tell me i could switch to Vodafone if i wanted to get out of my contract with three, but it would be a two year contract from date at switch not when i first joined three.
The funny thing is when im with friends at different places (Hunter valley or the Westerns suburbs or even down the coast) we compare our phone coverage. Most of my mates have full coverage at all theses places (there with the other big mobile company Tel@tr@) and nearly all the time i have no coverage at all. I than have to use there phone to make calls
Im now locked into my contract for another 1 and a half years. If i would have known how bad it was i would have just joined the big mobile company Tel@tr@.

8193 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Awful Customer Service at 29 Dec 2010 09:37:13 AM
Called customer service to upgrade my mobile 3 days in a row. Was placed on hold for over 30mins on every call (i gave up on all the calls as i had better things to do). I have never managed to speak to a real customer service person. Changed service provider in the end. That's when i discovered how bad Vodafone service really was. Vodafone does not email your pdf bills to you. You have to log onto the website to download your bills. When you cancel your account, they will immediately stop you from downloading all your bills... even though they keep sending you email notices to pay them. I require my old bills to claim from my company. Vodafone wants to charge me $5.50 per pdf invoice if they were to email me the invoices (invoices that were never emailed to me previously). I always thought it was basic customer support to email the invoice as it also serves as a receipt for previous months payment. This is the worse service provider i have ever dealt with.

Thankfully I switched to another provider the day before Christmas, and life is so much better. Contacting this provider for after sales service is bliss! Vodafone, take some lessons from other Telco's (of which there are sadly, only two successfull ones).
I would physically get cold chills each time I had to call Vodafone for help on an issue (and if you were to see my Vodafone file, you would see there were many!) Customer service standards did not translate from the words of the pleasant and empathetic staff on the phone to the end result. I feel very sorry for the Vodafone staff on the end of the line.
Speak to the Ombudsman if you want to get out of your contract. Although considering the latest headlines, you may not need to. Thanks for letting me vent. Wish I could say more!

Vodafail? My god people, did you not choose to go to Vodafone as it was the better deal? What, you were expecting, like reception and customer service as Telstra for a fraction of the cost?
The way the general public treat these sales assistants instore is just plain shameful.
They are somebodys' daughter/son, mother/father, someones friend, they have good days and they also have shit ones, they are the products of misinformation given by VHA CEOs.
Unfair to threaten to spit on them and treat them with such disrespect instores.
Australia, you should be shamed!
Stop complaining about someone told me this, and someone told me that and start reading the fine print before you sign! How about as average everyday people we investigate what it is we are signing up to, read forums and ask our family and friends?
How about we take some blame for our actions and start being proactive about resolving our issues instead of complaining about them

29 Dec 2010 09:36:53 AM: you a right no need to abuse staff who work for them but you must be a fwit@ with your comments when i sign a contract and they tell promise and wright they have 96 percent coverage then thats what i pay for service.so cut the sh@t they are terrible and worse since merging with 3. i live across from there tower and cut out and have no reception thats not in the fine print.how about reciving messages 5 days later that not in fine print. so wake up vodafone i hope you are sued and everyone can leave because i will help the cause.
29 Dec 2010 09:40:13 AM: Perhaps you could enlighten me how I can "start being proactive about resolving our issues" with the network?
29 Dec 2010 10:30:34 AM: Bottom line is that Vodafone contracted to its customers a product that doesn't perform. That is my experience. I suspect that the class action will reveal that vodafone knowingly (or should have known) have signed up customers in the past year to a product that was never going to perform to their contractual specs. A serious Trade Practices breach. I agree with the comments "start being proactive" . Sign up to the class action against Vodafone. As customers we are entitled to be compensated for Vodafone lack of performance.

I have been experiencing call drop-outs for months and usually have to call the person back to let them know I didn't hang up on them. I am a pre-paid customer and the call drop outs make me use my credit up faster than usual. Over christmas has been shocking and I have often had no network messages for prolonged periods of time. I have 3 children and am a single mother and my phone is my lifeline to them when I am at work or out and about, and it is stressful knowing that I cannot rely on the phone service, for my children could be trying to call me for an emergency and unable to reach me. Not to mention the extremely loud beeping that comes out of nowhere right in my ear when the call drops out, have been having headaches and ringing in my ears. Calls drop out approximately 12 times a day. Unbelievably annoying, frustrating and very poor service. It is unnacceptable.

Something needs to be done about Vodafone's inability to cater to the market and back up the promises they make in their contracts!!!

8097 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Mobile broadband coverage at 29 Dec 2010 08:33:41 AM
Man- have I been waiting a long tiem for a site like this!!
Vodafone are an embarrassment to telco's worldwide. Where shall i start with my "issues"......
Complaint 1: I was transferred to Vodafone for my mobile broadband coverage, after they bought out the '3' network. I was sent a Vodafone modem, and asked to return the 3 modem, which I did. Every month for 6 months now, I have been getting charged $99 on my bill for not returning the 3 modem, that Vodafone have admmitted they have recieved and 'lost'. Even supplying the Aust Post reciept number and date of sending was worthless. They have sent me an extra THREE (count em) pre-paid envelopes to return the modem I have already returned, and I tell them this every month without success. Every month I complain, every month they apologise, and promise to fix it. Now I am getting nasty 'overdue- pay now' emails for the modem I have already returned. i have cancelled my direct deposit for VF bills, as I actually missed a house payment, when VF took the $99 from my account, for the fourth month running. This is serious s**t, and has the potential for me to lose my house, or- at the very least- affect my perfect credit rating.
Complaint 2: No mobile broadband coverage in my house!! I have complained numerous times, only to be told 1) I am in a bad coverage area, and there's nothing they can do, 2) It's a 'software issues', and will soon be fixed (HA!), or 3) I must have installed illegal software on my computer, which is corrupting it. Excuse me??. My coverage rangers from 'poor' to 'very poor'. I no longer use the internet at home, as it is worse than a slow dialup connection. i am paying for a service that is unuseable.
Complaint no 3: When Vodafone took over 3 mobile, they assured me my contract with 3 will be honored, and will expire in Feb 2011 (as my 3 one was going to). During my last session with Vodafone Customer Service (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one), I was politely informed that what I was told the first time wasnt true, and my contract had been extended by two years, from the date of VF taking over 3. This happened without my permission or knowledge. I told the Indian call centre (who are nice people...but totally f***ing useless at resolving complaints) that it would be a cold day in hell before I stayed with VF after Feb 2011.
I urge everyone to log onto Piper Alderman's site, and show these big telco's that they cant get away with this sort of behaviour.

When I am lucky I will have 1 bar, however if I move less than a metre from the kitchen table to the kitchen bench, it drops out, starts searching and you guessed it NO SERVICE comes up yet again. I've also had enough of the poor customer service, if I'm able to get through. I recently moved to a rural property where having phone reception is essential so I enquired into how I could get out of my contract. I was told I'd need to stay in my contract and to go to the next suburb to get reception and make my calls. The next suburb? I'm on a rural property, there is no next suburb, the next town in 30 minutes away and I'm not driving 30 minutes to make a phone call. I just pray that we never face an emergency, Vodafone won't be there to help.
8028 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Big Con at 29 Dec 2010 07:24:46 AM
I live in Youngtown a suburb of Launceston the second largest city in the state and regularly coverage for my I-Phone drops out. All my other services are with Telstra (broadband, wife's mobile, landline & fax) and I wished I hadn't signed up to Vodafone for a two year contract in Jan'10. Definitely will not be re-newing at contract end. Reception in CBD Melbourne & Sydney is fantastic but as soon as you go regional areas the signal is crap & prone to disappear. I was conned on the quality of the reception in an around Launceston when I signed up. I can be within 2km of Launceston CBD and have no signal. About a month after I signed up their customer service rang me to get feedback & I gave them a blast. The caller immediately implemented a $10 monthly credit to my account. Surely this is an admission of problems on their end. The constant delays (sometimes days) in receiving SMS & Voicemail is a shocking state of affairs as the mobile is my main point of contact for communication with my clients. If I could get out my contract now without being penalised I would do so it in a flash.
8024 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is they dont care at 29 Dec 2010 07:22:19 AM
When a company reaches a target and the managers CIO ect..... have met the target why do they have to care ? they have the money in there pockets and saved large amounts of money by sending there call centre overseas, You all think this is a loss and complain but they dont really care, They have made there $$$$$ already bought there houses cars holidays ect......, In this world of today its all about money and what you can get out of people, The world is changing due to high interest rates cost of living ect..... I have to walk around my house to find a good spot for my 3 Wireless Broadband to work...my backyard is the only good spot and it's still slow. Customer Service are just a bunch of idiots who Google how to rectify the problem, get you to run www.speedtest and think this is going to fix it. I can't wait for our contract to end and get away from 3/Vodaphone all together.

7994 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Worst Customer service ever at 29 Dec 2010 06:52:03 AM
Vodaphone sent me a Dongle for wireless internet. I've already got internet through 3 mobile. They've sent me 4 bills averaging between $20 and $130 and I've never even opened the box and activated it. I've since sent the package back and to my suprise...another bill. How many times do i have to tell Customer Service that I have never had an internet account with them and never will. I never with any other company been put on hold for over 45 minutes 5 times in a row. Vodaphone s*ck and i'd never use them, I've also told my friends of my experience and they will never use them now either.
7984 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 06:32:54 AM
Before travelling from Victoria to Tasmania I was due to update my Telstra service - and not being a happy Telstra customer (or should I say "being a typical Telstra victim") I thought I'd try the opposition. I stopped in at a mall Vodafone shop and organised a prepaid phone AND a wireless dongle for the laptop. Both were happily sold to me with solid assurances for an expected stay in Burnie on Tassie's NW coast. Around $200 total outlay bought me nil signal from the wireless dongle and very poor service from the phone which, when it did connect, continually dropped out. Total waste of money and I feel cheated - no - BURGLED by an untouchable criminal. Bless you for giving focus to all of us out here who alone are helpless in the face of this institutionalised theft.
7977 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very Poor at 29 Dec 2010 06:21:45 AM
For the past 12 months I have lived in a suburban caravan park, so have no landline, but needed internet access. I went for Vodafone prepaid mobile for both phone and internet. Should have gone to Telstra. I rarely have more than three bars of signal strength at my home, usually it is one or two bars, but 50 meters down the road I get 4 or 5 bars of signal strength. The Vodafone prepaid mobile broadband internet connection is slower than a landline connection most of the time and actually seems to work better on two bars signal strength than on the rare occasions there is three or four bars! Calls drop out, text messages arrive anything from hours to days after they were sent, customer service is very bad. I absolutely hate the automated customer service system and the voice and speel of the message service (and so do all my friends who have to listen to it if I miss their call!). "If you want ... press ... ... ... ... " which doesn't seem to ask the right questions - I nearly always have to wait a prolonged period to get through that garbage and talk to a human being to get my problems sorted out. There is virtually no warning when the balance is expiring or running out during a call - just a very faint beep which is often inaudible if anyone is talking then cut off within seconds. The internet connection uses a USB dongle which suffers from the same problems as the phone connection. The only reason I have persisted with this Vodafone system is that for internet it cost me to buy the Vodafone dongle, took many days to get it set up and 'working' and I didn't want to go through all that again to set up a different one. Now that I am moving back to a regular house to live in I will be dumping Vodafone.

i am costantly having problems with coverage as in phone showing full service but can not receive or make a call at all, have tried for 2 days to get to customer service , and result was they think there was a service problem and they should be working on it and to see how it goes in a couple of days (in other words she had no idea and i think she was speaking english just not very well at all , a complete waste of time) i called into a vodafone shop 3 times now and all they can say is they are having problems with there own phones and vodafone should be working on it. does vodafone even know that there is a problem as not one of the people i contacted bothered to look it ut or report it , just tell me they should be working on it, i have purchased a cheap telstra next g phone as a back up as i manage 2 bussineses and have to be contactable at all times as 1 is related to 24/7 air medical support.typical vodafone suck you into a plan then offer no service, maybe i should open my own phone service i do not need any service, equipment or even phones or coverage and still be as compedative as vodaphone is but just honest up front and tell you that you will not have any service but i should be working on it.
7966 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Customer Service at 29 Dec 2010 06:05:59 AM
Vodafones biggest failing has been to close their Australian call centers and relocate them to Mumbai in India. The wait times are unbelievable, the customer service standard and knowledge of the people there is very very poor. Customers need to talk with someone they can understand and with someone who can actually work through to a solution, if there is one.
The Vodafone network in Australia has been undercapitalised from day one. They should spend more of the glitzy corporate advertising budget improving their network capacity, coverage and performance for their customers.
The bottom line is that I will never deal with Vodafone again.

My son and I went to Optus,it wasnt much better and we are back to Telstra( not that Telstra customer service is good in any way at all either but at least we get coverage) A word of advice to AYONE...DONT BUT A VODAFONE,they all stuff up and if you take it back to the Vodafone shop they wont give a refund, this happedned to me and i had to fight them to get a refund on the dodgey phone that kept freezing up.
7956 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is sucks at 29 Dec 2010 05:48:11 AM
Signed up in APR 2009 because i was shown a map that demonstrates coverage whilst I am at work. Was told if I didn't get coverage to ring Vodafone and they will cancel contract. A week later I was on the phone to customer service. I was transferred between 5 different people all of which had English as their second language. The first lady said, I have coverage as the map says so. I said I was calling on a landline as right now my mobile has no service. To which I was told that is impossible. I got put onto the next lady who said service would improve. To which I replied I was told if it doesn't work now, I can cancel and get a refund. I got sent to another lady who was supposed to do the refund who told me the map shows coverage so "no refund" when I complained that I had already been through this with another support person she then forwarded me finally to someone who would cancel my contract but she didn't know how to, so I was put through to someone finally who did know only to be told their computer system was down and to ring back later. I said when will it be up, she said to ring in a few days time. 2.5 hours of my life wasted. Suffice to say I didn't want to go through the pain of ringing customer service again so I stayed on the contract. Dropouts, delayed texts, no coverage, people trying to ring me and unable to get through.Voicemail fail, 3G internet is useless, so much for Google Maps.. the otherday I had to goto a place i have never been in ipswich and the vodafone dropped out on google maps and I was lost for 40 minutes, Ive had it all and enough.. I should of stayed with telstra and will be going back as soon as i can
7946 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Reception, Unable to Send Email at 29 Dec 2010 05:20:07 AM
I have had significant reception problems with calls dropping out randomly and it is still impossible to send an email on the vodaphone service. It has not been possible to send emails on the service for over 6 months. I was told by a Vodaphone representative that Vodpahone is well aware of this problem but continue to sell plans which include email without any informing customers of this problem. Customer service is not trained to resolve problems ... they simply apologise but take no responsiblity for misleading consumers such as myself into signing up contracts even though they are unable to provide the full service. I have spent many hours on the phone with no real resolve yet have to pay the monthly service fee.
7939 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 04:57:39 AM
Signed up for TWO contracts with Vodafone in November. As and as part of a promotion we were to recieve a free pocket wifi
- We were advised that the phones would be delivered the following Wednesday. Nothing arrived, when contacted, wodafone told us they would arrive on Friday. No phones arrived.
10 working days later and still no phones. Contacted customer service, after being on hold for 40 minutes was told that no order had even been processed due to an error in the system. It took another phone call before this issue was resolved.
- Received the phones, however the pocket wifi was not provided, instead a usb internet.
- Made a number of phone calls, but gave up each time after waiting on hold for between 30 and 90 minutes.
- Finally able to speak with someone, requested that the pocket wifi promised be provide.
- Asked that our numbers from our previous carrier be ported across. Were told it would take over night to process. The following day one of the numbers was successfully ported. The other phone was not ported, however the number was no longer available on my previous carrier.
- Attempted to call. Porting issue and the pocket wifi issue were resolved after speaking to someone.
- Realised that the blackberry pack which I had signed up for, had not been provided. Called vodafone. Was told by customer service staff that the Blackberry team dealt with the issue and I was transferred. After being on hold for over 40 minutes, I hung up
- I called again the next day and spoke to a staff member in blackberry team, who told me that the sales team were the ones who needed to resolve the issue, and transferred me. After being on hold for over 30 minutes, spoke to the sales team, who indicated that customer service needed to resolve the problem and transferred me! After being on hold, spoke to customer service who wanted to transfer me to blackberry team.
= The call dropped out during this conversation. Called back, waited on hold, I became somewhat annoyed. Customer service person said that when the call dropped out, I recieved a phone call back, but didn't answer. This was not true. I recieved a message stating that a phone call had been attempted, but I believe none had ever been made.
Being annoyed, but still polite, I informed the staff member of my various issue and my frustrations with contant passing of the buck between sales, customer service and black berry. Told the staff member that I understood that this was not his fault, however he needed to provide a resolution for me, as my patience had been tested and I was ready to log a complaint with the TIO.
The staff member stated that he was unable to resolve the issue, and that I needed to contact the sales team. He provided me with 1 gig of vodafone data to use while I waited for the issue to be resolved.
I was told he would speak to sales and resolve the problem and that I would be contacted. I provided a landline number to contact me on.
No body contacted me.
- Logged a TIO complaint three days ago. Heard about the class action yesterday
- Recceived a bill which charged incorrectly for the cost of the contracts. Also, I charged for blackberry pack which still hasn't been provided.

I have lived in the same house for almost 6 years. Roughly 2 years ago I started not recieving calls and having calls drop out. My phone wuold be sitting there on my desk in front of me, not moving, full 3G coverage bars, and yet people would be trying to call me and just get the message 'this Vodafone is unavailable, please try again later'. As this was our only phone, this was obviously extremely inconvenient. For a year and a half I called and spoke to I think every customer service and faults officer in Vodafone's Egypt office. Half the time, there were not even notes left from the previous time, so subsequently I had to go to a Vodafone store and replace my SIM card 4 times in total, replaced my phone, at my own expense, twice and cannot count the amount of times I had to switch it on then off again, reinstall various programs they sent me etc etc. I just wanted to make calls and recieve calls. My husband missed out on numerous employment calls. And eventually the last straw came when the woman on the phone said she had tried my phone and it rang fine. I called her out on her blatant lie, as my husband was on chat with me on the pc at the time, with the phone next to him, and it had not rang at all.
Eventually when I threatened to contact the TIO, they 'tested my area' and found that I was in a low coverage area. How this changed in the last year from this time, they would not or could not explain. Same house, same street, same suburb. Which coincidently shows FULL 3G COVERAGE on their website.
At this point the man from faults offered me a day of free calls credited back to me. I was incredulous. A DAY for 18 months of Vodahell!!! My friends had started using the term "I was Vodafoned" to explain a drop out!
I went to the TIO, and they put me through to a man via email. Because obviously he had trouble calling me!!! He offered me 1 month credit (I was on prepaid) I demanded 6 months minimum. He gave it to me no questions asked.
Honestly, I should have gotten 18 months back, but by this time my spirit was broken, I just wanted out of their company. Since then, I have joined another company. It is MUCH more expensive. But they so far have not made me wait over an hour to answer my calls, I have no drop outs, and when people call me, surprise surprise, they can get through to me.
Both my mother and sister are both still with Vodafail, and have issue after issue after issue. Its such a shame, because all of my siblings and myself have been with vodafone for about 15 years. But they have no clue what loyalty is.

This article from the UK shows how seriously Vodafone treats unauthorised social networking posts. Unauthorised posts from employees are apparently a "serious breach" and will result in "suspension of employees". Check out the following abstract and weblink;
Vodafone was forced to release a stream of apologies, replying to each user individually to say "we weren't hacked. A severe breach of rules by staff in our building, dealing with that internally. We're very sorry". By the evening the company had been forced to release that message to hundreds of individual followers.
"An individual posted an obscene remark on the Vodafone UK Twitter account," said a spokesman for the company. "The individual has been suspended pending further notice."
The "tweet" is understood to have emanated from Vodafone's customer service centre in Stoke, where its web team uses social networking sites such as Twitter to keep in contact with users.

I have had frequent problems with getting and maintaining reception across many suburbs in perth metro and have slow/no Internet even when I have full coverage and 3G.
Also, vodafone has got to be the worst company for customer service as I have wasted hours upon hours trying to get through to someone on many occasions only to be told that I have been put through to the wrong department. Although I wait on hold to be transferred to the right department I am yet again told I have reached the wrong department, usually at which time the reception drops. Such bad customer service had meant that I have not been able to transfer my old number although this is a relatively easy task at other service providers.
Vodafone needs to pick up their game.

Having two Vodafone phones calling each other was impossible.
Voices were unintelligible.
Never got a signal unless you were standing on top of the Warringah Freeway overpass closest to the city, or conveniently inside a Vodafone store and even then the data speeds were absolute donkey shit.
Customer service 'representatives' were indeed representative of the service you get from Vodafone. I mean, I'm not an Indian bashing racist, but can you imagine what they're saying in an Aussie accent?
What I noticed is that the Vodafone SALES people on the phone were Australian.
Thank god I'm with Telstra now, with an iPhone 4. The audio quality on the calls is landline quality, and downloading data is faster than my ADSL2+ Wifi connection.

I have sat on customer service for hours and hours as well, but then decided that I would contact the TIO requesting with Vodafone that I wanted out of my contract. They called me and said they'd credit my account for $79 (my monthly cap) and, exasperated, I decided to agree since my contract is done in March. I then saw all the media coverage on the reception - I hadn't even thought of complaining! I had just chalked it up to it "being Vodafone". But Vodafone refuses to let me out of my contract. Come on March!!!
28 Dec 2010 11:50:52 PM: Raise it back with the TIO, explain your situation, the TIO will then contact Vodfone again and they have 10 days to respond.
7870 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible 3G & Messaging, Poor Local Vodafone Shop Service at 28 Dec 2010 11:09:22 PM
I live in Ipswich Sth East QLD and have been disappointed in Vodafone ever since i resigned August last year. I live about 1 klm from the CBD and have the signal drop from 5 bars to no service constantly during the day. I also get sms ranging from 30 mins to 24 hrs late, not good if you are in Business Vodafone.
Apart from the lengthy delays on the phone to customer service. Its had enough to understand the Mumbai consultants who promise you a callback, but it never happens, its even harder to take the empty promises of "it will be fixed in 24 hrs, but never is"
Another thing that bugs me is the Local Vodafone Shop at Riverlink, Ipswich. I don't think i have ever come across a ruder bunch of so called "consultants" in my life.Ask simple questions and they pass you off to call customer service on you phone(i thought that is what i went to the shop for, customer servive, what a joke). My last visit i was ignored for almost 20 mins before actually being served, preferring to serve people who just walked in the door. When i finally got served i asked them how much it would cost to be released from my contract (a simple enough question)but they could not tell me, again saying to ring "Customer Service".
Obviously it is more important to sign up new contracts constantly then to actually look after your existing customer database.
Why is Vodafone spending millions buying Crazy Johns and the 3 network, TV and Airtime during the cricket, when the existing network is where they should be spending the money and get it up to scratch.
I hope they relise that one happy customer can create another 10 customers thru referrals, just imagine what 10,0000 unhappy customers could do for a corporations referral base.
Pick up your act Vodafone otherwise acquiring Crazy Johns and 3 network may not have been the best place to invest you money.

28 Dec 2010 11:29:55 PM: I can't mate, Vodafone has them in a vice at the moment ???!!!!##***
29 Dec 2010 01:13:38 AM: Technically it was a 50/50 merger with 3. Do your research mate.
29 Dec 2010 09:58:55 AM: 50/50 merger, true - but how many Voda management or staff remain??? And why since that happened has everything gone to the dogs. New Ebill......yeah great, how about putting peoples names on them.....When you have 2 contracts in one house, whos bill is whos? You have to log in to find out. This can take forever and why - cause the freakin service drops out!
7863 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Junk & fraud company at 28 Dec 2010 10:47:11 PM
call drops and very poor signal all the time. ACCC and telecommunication ombudsman is bull shit in Australia. Vodafone doesn't care for customers, customer service is zero.
7861 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Full of fail. at 28 Dec 2010 10:46:25 PM
Can not receive phone calls at random times. Called them and they tried to avoid the problem by asking me questions about internet connectivity on my phone. I had to repeatedly tell the retarded customer service guy that i am not calling about internet on my phone i am calling about issues receiving phone calls. Absolutely useless, unreliable telco and customer service.
28 Dec 2010 10:48:47 PM: Done and done.
7859 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is CRAP!! at 28 Dec 2010 10:44:46 PM
I've been trying for the last 2 hours to get coverage in my own house to send an sms, and still cant get it, just 30 minutes out of Adelaide. This is worse than poor service. Last time i needed to contact Vodafone i was put on hold for 45 minutes, transferred to someone else and put on hold for another hour and a half and then put through to a department that wasn't even open. PULL YOUR HEAD IN, VODAFONE!!
7842 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is EPIC at 28 Dec 2010 10:17:58 PM
I have been a vodafone customer for a while however I recently travelled overseas and activated global roaming. Upon returning to Australia I noticed that I wasnt receiving text msgs on time, able to make calls when I wanted, or able to receive calls most times. I contacted vodafone on several occasions to discuss my issues but it took about 5 calls and most of the day to speak to someone there. ONce I did the customer service operator told me to disable 3G and go to the slower 2G network to resolve the issue. WHen I stated that it would slow my internet connection down the operator said it would only slow it down a "little". I believe the advice goven by vodafone was not the ideal solution. Also, I wanted to unlock my iphone (which is no longer under contract) to which I was quoted a fee of around $75 to unlock it. This fee is ridiculous and overpriced!
I have also been sucessful in two refunds from vodafone after submitting complaints with the telecommunications ombudsman regarding very poor wireless usb internet coverage.
I hate vodafone (and all sub class networks for that matter) - but cant afford the premium services and good coverage of Telstra.
Cheers,
Aaron of Canberra

7838 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is unacceptable at 28 Dec 2010 10:11:23 PM
internet keeps dropping out and is not consistant. i spent 1 hour on hold just so i could speak to a customer service consultant but they could not resolve the issue. i was then told to switch my phone on and then off to see if it was working but i was calling from my mobile and then i was told it would work, so really the consultant just wanted to get me off the phone so he did not have to deal with the issue. so i called back and got tired of holding so hung up and havent dealt with it since. i need to also say that i just signed a 24 month iphone deal too so im in a tough situation...with no way out.
