Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

18651 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Enough is enough at 7 Jul 2011 06:04:41 PM
I switched to Vodafone to get the HTC Desire HD and now regret my decision.
Today in West Pennant Hills & Cherrybrook I've lost count the number of times the calls dropped off, no data or internet services getting network errors or requesting me to update my timezone 20 to 30 times a day. It's starting to have an impact on my business (home office) and had a gut full. I've been patient giving vodafone the benefit of the doubt but enough is enough. I intend paying out my contract and move to Telstra, unfortunately HTC Desire HD does't work on NextG so as a result will count my loses, dump the HTC Desire HD and get the Samsung Galaxy S II. Such a pity the HTC Desire HD is a nice phone, wasted on Vodafone network. Some how I don't think Vodafone gives a grap.

18650 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very fail at 7 Jul 2011 04:55:40 PM
Try this for size. I run a business account with "up to" 6 phones, at the moment just 3 active phones. The advantage of this account is I can add and remove numbers without penalty. Supposedly. Last number that was added to the account had a NEW ACCOUNT set up in my business name, complete with 2 phone numbers I've never heard of and has racked up several hundred dollars in calls. Additionally, they've been sending the bills to an extinct street address. I've given it straight to customer service to sort out and told them not to contact me until it is sorted out. They have a 48 hour deadline. Unbelievable.
7 Jul 2011 05:24:47 PM: Incredible and unbelievable!
Keep a separate note of all your conversations with Vodafail, CSR name, ID, incident number, date/time of complaint etc.
I have a sneaky suspicion you may need to invoke the services of the TIO at some stage in the not to distant future.

18649 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major fail at 7 Jul 2011 02:22:17 PM
Last two weeks, mobile broadband (via pocketwifi or iPhone4) in Brisbane CBD has been atrocious. Constant cycling between 3G & H(SDPA) on the pocketwifi even though I'm at 4-5 bars of connectivity. iPhone4 shows 4-5 bars of 3G connection yet throughput speeds are near 0kbps. EDGE performance also spotty. The only service that is near or at consumer grade for me is voice calls. Out in suburbia (where home is) things are marginally better notwithstanding that my area (around Beenleigh) has recently had it's tower upgraded to the new 3G 850MHz network.

18647 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremely irritatingly so at 7 Jul 2011 09:44:53 AM
My bills stopped coming to my email address Apr, May, Jun and I have paid them blind. I have repeatedly called Cust Serv India requestg them to supply me with the above. Repeatedly FAILED. July I will only pay my contractual amount (minimum I have to pay) and have lodged a complaint with TIO. I have 14 mths left on my contract and I am endeavouring to advise everyone DONT SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE...they are incompetent and their executive is uncontactable except by registered post.
7 Jul 2011 11:35:13 AM: Time for the TIO to investigate as it appears you have got nowhere with Vodafail.
TIO details may be found at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.
Contact them and tell them what you have told us, Vodafail will have to investigate the matter and give you a mutually agreed satisfactory response within 10 working days.

9 Jul 2011 03:20:37 PM: It took me 2 separate complaints to TIO before vodafail agreed they could no longer send me an itemised bill by email. They had changed the format and I was only receiving the amount of the bill and when it was due. After the complaints, I agreed to receiving the bills by mail only if there was no administration fee. I insisted on this in writing from vf. There is NO WAY I would pay a bill without seeing the details beforehand!
18646 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopeless at 7 Jul 2011 09:36:15 AM
When I email a question to Vodafone, I get a crappy automated response that doesn't even answer my original question! They are obviously scanning for keywords and sending a generic reply, hoping that you won't bug them further. It is not clear how to get a real answer from them. Vodafone's customer service is hopeless and they are trying to avoid as much contact with customers as possible!

18645 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is charges at 6 Jul 2011 10:52:59 PM
Its amazing me to the extent vodacon adds charges to milk every bit out of you. I have a $99 shared business plan, and i have noticed a graph that shows charges outside of your cap. Mine was 0.28c, which i had no idea where this generated from, and been on a cap made it more strange that it was added above the cap. Now my plan includes international calling. I phoned a friend of mine in the USA, kept the call short, but notice they have charged me additional flagfall charge which falls outside my cap so i get charged. Strange that its not mention in the terms & condition part of the cap so hence the 0.28c. Now it makes me think that vodaevil will start to call the shots when the additional data charges appear. Even if you have a data plan, whats stopping them from free willy anything over to addition charge section for example internet is part of your data bundle, but if you use skype you might get charged because you are not on a skype bundle, even if you are on the net using skype vodathief might just say skpye is not the internet or maybe say anything thats not through voda central is an additional charge. A friend of mine has a 3gb data plan on his phone but For the first time got charged $8 for using the net because his phoned roamed as a result to vodaripoff bad reception, triggered roaming charges in a suburb where it drifts from 3g, 2g, to roaming. So i can see the disaster that this so call addition charges is going to create, and no doubt we will see a spike of huge vodabills due to this new con. Beware the devil in red.

6 Jul 2011 09:43:05 PM: Yea it really is hard to know where the usage comes from and we can only hope most people aren't overcharged. The TIO has been swamped with Vodafone complaints and what usually happens is that when you contact the TIO, they contact Vodafone and give them 10 days to sort it out.
If you don't hear anything from Vodafone within 10 days, go back to the TIO and they will increase the pressure on Vodafone.
Goodluck!

8 Jul 2011 12:14:28 PM: I have a similar issue, a freind of mine works at Vodafone and is trying to resolve it for me, i am also going through the TIO, it is wrong for Vodafone to be able to get away with it from customers who dont anybody with Vodafone, keep us updated to your situation as will I, (my issue is topic 18657).

Did anyone notice when Michael Clarke started doing ads on the tele for vodafone his batting form went so far down it was only marginally better that Vodafones data transfer rates ?
Heard he got out of it cause it was hurting his image, especially when he was comparing his dongle to Vodafones. OOPPS Clarkie no bars this week.
Good to see his form picked up soon after he gave them the boot.

Not sure what has happened to the internet for the past week but I purchased a wireless pocketwifi back in April 2011 and have been quite happy with it. Doesn't seem to work its best during rainy days but always picks up again.
Having said that, what has been going on the last couple of days?? It's been sooo slow and getting onto this website has been a struggle. The pages aren't even loading up and I'm just watching the spinning circles on the pages thinking, waiting.....more thinking and waiting.

I've been on the $39 vodafone mobile broadband plan for a couple of weeks and the signal literally dropps out every 5 minutes! It's too slow to play youtube videos and can take up to 2 minutes to reach the google.com.au home page. I even called customer service who say my laptop is old(even though I only bought it 2 weeks ago)
18633 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Fail-tastic at 5 Jul 2011 10:13:20 PM
I upgraded to a new Samsung Galaxy SII. Phone is awesome, lightning fast browsing when at home on WiFi (Telstra Broadband). Figured I would give Vodafone a second chance because of all this talk of upgrading their network. I spent the first night on wifi downloading apps, then while showing off my phone at work the next day, couldn't even connect to Google even though phone showed HSDPA. Tryed to surf the net today with 3G reception and still waited 3-5mins for a page to half-load, then tryed the Android Market and got 'network error'. Tryed speed-test and got 'network error'. Tryed streaming a Youtube vid, outdoors, HDSPA logo showing, it took more than a minute to buffer 10secs. This is ridiculous, I have 3GB a month on my plan and since Sunday have used 100mb MAX. What am I going to do with 3GB!? I am going to try ringing Vodafail tomorrow to sort out this problem and possibly cancel my contract. I have been a Vodafone customer for 3 Years. The contract I am happy with, the Phone I am happy with, but if they can't do anything about my broadband reception, I am moving to Telstra.

Vodafone customer service rep promising to send out a new broadband Internet device that is supposed to fix the lack of broadband Internet being received, only to have it never show up.
Why doesn't the governing body do what CASA did to tiger airways and shut vodafone down?

I've been on prepaid for years and the service was fine, but recently I switched to a postpaid account with a Nexus S. Almost exactly 1 month into the contract (After their 30 days no questions asked return policy) my data service went to hell in a handbasket. I can't get a 3G connection anywhere except the Brisbane CBD and constantly have to switch into 2G-only. Even when standing less than 20m from the local cell towers I get a horrendous data service.

This month I have realised that there is an excessive quota recorded against my account which costed me more than $300. This is due to my internet did not disconnect for 6 days and during this time I have restarted my phone as I experienced very poor internet service. I contacted customer support straight away and later on their technical support and they only willing to give me $60 credit.
I have then written an email outline my request with reasons but they responded me to liaise with their technical support and billiing team whom cant help me any further. They are just ignoring my question. I guess I will go TIO as soon as I have received my bill this month too.

No consistent 3G connections anywhere! I have full reception most times but can not get a strong 3G link. Cannot surf the web on my phone, cannot download any files because of timeouts, I paid for 3G data and the damn bastards are taking my money and not giving access to 3G.
Have you done a network investigation? how can you, if customer care does nothing but pretend to record calls and do nothing afterwards.
2G voice calls seem to be fine but i wouldnt be suprised if people have not been able to call me and also they were not given a chance to leave voicemail!
Reception is strong but I think there are background voicemail problems for sure - delays or even loss of voicemails, laggy callback service too.
i hope someone starts a big movement to sue Vodafone and help us get our money back.
Would be nice if somehow our stolen money from vodafone could be moved over to telstra to continue our service but only on the telstra network - this should kill vodfone as a dodgy business for sure.

I've just succesfully had my 24 month Unlimted plan cancelled after 6 months of horrible service. I think I complained to them around 6 times before going to the TIO.. I tell you what, once the TIO is involved they really cant help you any quicker!! I was let go from my contract with no exit fee and kept my phone (HTC Desire HD) for less than 50% of what they originaly wanted me to pay for it..
Anyone else looking at taking your arguments to the TIO, keep track of your complaints, remember what youve told them and what they've said / done to try and 'help'.. if you get absolutley nowhere with your issue then its time to go to the TIO!
Goodluck!

Guess I won't be affected by that little piece of joy since I can't connect to a damn thing. Unfortunately I'm stuck with my phone for another 11months. So I suspect the drop outs, missing voicemails etc will continue.
As for their mobile broadband, that has been a total waste. I can honestly say my coverage was better with dial up. At least I can get out of that contract in a couple of months. Thank God for small mercies.

2 Jul 2011 10:24:38 PM: Oh,forgot to mention. After another lengthy call to the overseas call centre today to complain about my mobile broadband and to see if they could actually get me some coverage (you know the drill) they agree to drop my plan to a $15 for the remaining two months of my contract. When I asked if the contract would cease on that day and it would be disconnected, they said 'No. You will have to call up and have that done.'
'But I'm telling you right now, I want this contract to cease on 17/9/11. I do not want it after that.'
So I asked when the appropriate time would be for me to call them to arrange for it to be disconnected. They tell me I should do it about a week before it is due to expire.
I think this is insane, and an obvious ploy to continue billing me.
I then asked if there was somebody within their company that I could write to, confirming that I want the contract to cease as of that date. An email address? No they said. They then informed me they were at the highest level of the complaints section and that an email or letter would not be responded to. WTF????????????
Where the hell does Vodafone get off by making it so difficult for people to finish their contracts.
Screw it. That little piece of joy about not being able to send a letter or email through to someone to ensure it is finalised is the last straw. I'm going to the TIO.

12 Jul 2011 03:39:56 PM: You need to contact the TIO to get out. I'm in the ACT as well and was able to get out of the contract directly through just dealing with Vodafone. The only thing I had to do was send the phone back. They even sent me a AAE satchel to send it back in. Now I'm waiting to see if the manage to fark up my final bill. Otherwise I'm done with them. Been enjoying 2.5Mbps 3G connection in Gungahlin with Telstra for over a week now.

18607 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is So so so baddd. at 2 Jul 2011 01:55:12 PM
I come under my mothers contract so I haven't had to deal with most of vodafone's crap! But months and months ago,, vodafone charged my mothers bill twice to her account. When she realised she called straight away, and the customer service was so bad she wanted to rip her own hair out! No one would help her.. So now, months later, my mum is still paying her bills minus the amount they charged her twice for. That's all she can do in the matter. That money has been technically overdue for months but no one has contacted her. GOOD ONE GUYS!
I'm not even going to start about the crappy coverage.

2 Jul 2011 03:08:14 PM: Time for the TIO to investigate as it appears you have got nowhere with Vodafail.
TIO details may be found at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.
Contact them and tell them what you have told us, Vodafail will have to investigate the matter and give you a mutually agreed satisfactory response within 10 working days.

18606 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 3G dead at 2 Jul 2011 01:52:35 PM
Last Sunday (26/6/11), 3G died at my place in Meadowbank, NSW, 2114. My phone still shows 3G with a couple of bars, but the internet is not working at all. When I switch the phone to 'use 2G only', I can access the internet (albeit slowly of course). In nearby suburbs, there is no problem. I've called CrazyJohns/Vodafone up to inform them of this problem, and they said they're going to get someone to check it in the next week. This has happened before, and they said there was no problem after investigating - so I'm not hopeful of a helpful response.
2 Jul 2011 03:14:28 PM: According to this sites Coverage Checker the results are far from ideal for postcode 2114:
Reception Details for West Ryde Voice / SMS 25% Mobile Internet 20% Broadband 13% Dropped Calls 235
Coverage and reception information has been reported by 41 user in this area.
Perhaps your next step is the TIO who will request Vodafail to investigate further and reply to your network query in 10 working days.
Contacting the TIO may result in a mutually agreed termination of contract or reduced monthly fee until the matter is resolved, of course Vodafail may advise that the service is top notch (unlikely) in which case other alternatives may be sought.

18605 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is the most disgusting example of fraud perpertrated on Australian consumers at the present time at 2 Jul 2011 11:30:30 AM
I'm on the Gold Coast in QLD & have posted here previously. This site was instrumental in allowing me to break my deal with VF to supply wireless internet, which just totally did not work. I followed advice here by making a complaint to the TIO & after 5 weeks of being lied to by every level of VFs staffers the TIO finally forced them to rescind my contract because of undeniable failure to supply the stated product.
This company is fraudulent by still mounting massive advertising campaigns telling consumers they will supply products that they knowingly cannot provide. If you are gullible enough to believe the advertising & sign with them they will make it extremely difficult to cancel the contract for products they do not supply. Their whole method of dealing with consumers is designed to make it extremely difficult to make a complaint.
2 Weeks ago my home mailbox was stuffed with a glossy 10 page advertising brochure from Vodafone with every page full of impossible to believe deals. To verify that the deals they were offering to me directly by putting it through my mailbox I went to the nearest VF retail outlet (7 mins walk away) & asked them directly if I should take up one of the offers of 12GB mobile broadband for $39 a month on a contract would they guarantee me reasonable reception & download speed. They checked the coverage for my house, which is about 900 metres from their shop as the crow flys & said I would NOT get reasonable reception at that time BUT they were planning to UPGRADE their towers in the near future. When I asked why they had produced a brochure that offered me a product they knew they could not supply I was directed to the manager to answer my question.
The manager was a young man with a charming manner who had just returned from a VF seminar (sales pep talk) & was in complete denial that he worked for a company whose main products were deceit & fraud.
Further to this fraudulent company's mail box advertising, this week I received a letter addressed to 'Vodafone Customer' at my PO box mailing address, which consists of a whole A4 page of gobbledegook about how the company is building the most wonderful network of upgraded towers & equipment. This came from Michael Young - Chief Technology Officer - Vodafone Hutchison Australia.
Hiya Michael, thanks for giving me the best laugh I've had since watching Billy Connoly's routine about going to the doctor to have his prostate gland checked --- Ha ha ha ah aha ahahahhaa hhhaaaa ha ha ha!!!!!

1 Jul 2011 07:27:45 PM: this is driving me crazy. why can they do that. don't we have a contract. can they just change that? the best thing is we had zero service for two days in our town and the first sms i get once it was working again, was that they are going to charge me for email banking and scype - just only the main reasons i need the internet for - grrrr
1 Jul 2011 08:23:19 PM: See our comment here: http://vodafail.com/single.php?p=18593
It appears that previously the data you used for skype and internet banking wasn't included in your cap (you weren't charged at all). Now that data will come off your cap - just as you assumed was happening before.
Probably best to keep an eye on your usage next month to see how much you are using now that they are included in your cap. Goodluck!

I am sick of paying for "3G Internet" services with a data allowance that you cannot use due to the lack of coverage... Plus to make things worse I look over my shoulder at other iPhones running Optus and Telstra with significantly faster browsing speeds.... I HATE YOU VODAFAIL
18593 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is mega fail at 1 Jul 2011 04:41:06 PM
I'm very confused re: the extra data costs thing. So I have a cap, it contains data, but they're going to start charging me extra on top of my data cap for accessing certain content, regardless of whether I've hit my data cap or not? I really hope I've got this wrong because it just seems so bizarre?!
1 Jul 2011 08:20:19 PM: What appears to have happened is that previously you were not being charged at all for accessing secure websites, voip or p2p. That means when you used those services, the data wasn't coming off your cap. However Vodafone has realised they weren't charging for this data and they're correcting their mistake.
It does seem odd and I guess it shows that their data usage monitoring was fairly broken. There is an article on the issue here: http://www.itnews.com.au/News/261930,vodafone-ends-p2p-voip-free-ride.aspx
And some comments on Whirlpool that are also very good.

Data service shows 3-4 bars of connectivity/signal strength. Throughput and actual connectivity just keep dropping to zero for many, many minutes at a time - causing all sorts of timeout issues.
Still can't run the phone on 3G - have to keep it on GSM to make it even vaguely useful.
All of this from my home where I was told VF coverage and performance was "excellent"... :-/

I have extremely poor coverage both at my home, uni and work. In April I called vodafone and they said they would give me 6 months off my bill and that the upgrade in my area would occur in July. They stated that AT ANY TIME before the end of July I could cancel my contract free of charge and send the phone back. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Reception in my area is still terrible, I have also been overcharged $10.00 a month for a pack I didn't approve. I canceled the pack, one month later it was back on the bill. I canceled it again and was charged an early exit fee without my knowledge and after explaining I never approved this. Due to shocking coverage, phone calls dropping out and then poor service I called to cancel my contract. This morning I was told that Vodafone reneged on their contracts as on 25/6/11. I cannot understand how they are allowed to do this!

When I first joined up with Vodafone four years ago I used to get good reception at home. I was recently stupid enough to sign a new contract with them some twelve months ago. Since this time the reception has continuously got worse. I can now no longer even use my mobile phone at home.
Trying to contact them is hopeless as the phone drops out while I am sitting in a queue waiting to be answered and they don't reply to emails.
I left Optus many years ago because of the problems I had with them and went to Telstra. I left Telstra for Vodafone because of the problems I had with Telstra. Initially I was very impressed with the quality of service from Vodafone but the service has gone downhill since then.
Now it seems that Vodafone have become the worst of the lot.

Vodafone have stopped doing automatic direct deductions to pay my bill. When I log onto their website to pay the bill manually it says that therre is an error and I should ring up.
As the only reception I can get at home is when I stand in the middle of my backyard in the cold and rain, I sent them an email. I received what appeared to be an automated reply which had nothing to do with my problem. I replied asking them to answer by question but no reply.
I recently sent them a second email via their customer support "contact us" websire but still no reply after two weeks.
I have tried ringing them but gave up after twenty minutes on hold.
I have now lodged a complaint with the TIO.

Just received a final notice for an account that was 6 months overdue. Account is a mobile broadband service that never gets used so i had basically forgotten about it but the real problem is it was never paid because vodafone didn't even send a bill in the last 6 months, nor did they bother to call or send a letter until now. Im willing to accept some of the blame for not noticing but its ridiculous that they can screw up so bad.

Vodafone customer service is crap! First off..why the hell do you have to tell them your phone number after you've entered it into the phone twice!
My problem- trying to register for myVodafone but the password that kept getting sent to the phone would not work. I had at least 10 passwords sent! I have phoned vodafone at least 6times tonight, each time they said they would sort this but all they would do is send another password! It's obviously not just a password problem! at least 2 call centre reps said they'd delete the profile and sort this out...yeah right!
still not registered with myVodafone..will not bother trying again! porting number tomorrow to anyone else!!
SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS OF DEALING WITH INCOMPETENT CALL CENTRE STAFF - DO NOT GET VODAFONE!

I lodged a complaint with TIO on the 07/06/2011 regarding not being able to use plan entitlements that I am paying for such as data due to reception issues. TIO then forwarded the complaint to Vodafone on 08/06/2011. I then received a voicemail message from someone at the Vodafone resolutions department on 15/06/2011 stating that they would try and call back later. Again on 16/06/2011 a voicemail was left from the resolutions department stating they would call back, both times a return contact number was not left. As I had missed 2 calls from Vodafone i used the contact us section on the Vodafone website to ask that I be contacted via email. I then waited until 23/06/2011 to be contacted via email only to be annoyed at the fact that the resolutions officer asked for a brief explanation of what my complaint was. I replied with the required information and it has now been 7 days and I have not heard anything back. I think it is very unprofessional that my complaint still has not been responded to
30 Jun 2011 10:13:15 PM: Unprofessional and against the TIO complaints procedure.
Your answer is really very simple, go back to the TIO with your original reference number. State what you have told us.
The TIO will chase up Vodafail for the second time (Vodafail will incur a larger *fine*) and you can almost guarantee that Vodafail will definitely be in contact with you very very soon.
If they do not, then the third time you complain Vodafail get an enormous *fine*, Vodafail are unlikely to not contact you.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

It's been 4! I'm at a friends house using her phone to call ellen and have left 2 more msgs today, but I cannot sit around and wait all day for somebaody to contact me and I dont think they can contact me on my mobile as it has NO SERVICE! please give a phone number I can call to sort this problem out ASAP! I don't know who else to ask!
30 Jun 2011 02:33:07 PM: Sorry! My message got cut short, BACKSTORY: I spoke to Ellen from conflict resolutions on Friday about getting out of my contract and paying to keep my handset. I said I would call her back on Monday after I had sorted through my other options. I called her Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and left msgs to call me back. She has not returned my calla and yday I went and switched to telstra with the intention of keeping (and paying to keep) my old handset from vodafone. The Real problem is I now have NO SERVICE on my vodafone sim and NO SERVICE on my telstra sim! So I have no service on my phone as apparently I need to unlock my handset from vodafone ( which I was told by a vodafone customer service person he would do that for me 4 mths ago when I first complained I had no service).
30 Jun 2011 03:11:58 PM: We don't have any numbers to reach them beyond what is available on their website. Unfortunately you have to wait for them to call you back but you might be able to try their business support number (which may be in Australia) and ask them to transfer you to the correct division.
Their numbers are here: http://www.vodafone.com.au/help/contactus/telephonenumbers/index.htm

1) - I work in the middle of Sydney city and get no mobile reception at work - at all, ever! I was advised by Vodafone that the building is a 'black spot' and this will never be resolved
2) - After returning from a short trip overseas (3 weeks) I was greeted with a $600 phone bill. After 6 emails and 10 hours on the phone Ive had no resolution to the overcharges and data roaming charges billed (which was never activated. Upon non receipt of payment for incorrect charges, Vodafone decided to activate call barring on my phone without any notification. After contacting Vodafone to re-activate the service I was advised that it would not be activated until the bill was paid. After explaining the situation in relation to incorrect billing, I was told "to bad" and that bill had to be paid.
In good faith I paid $300 off the bill believing this to be the amount that should have been charged initially. It took me 3 days to get my phone "back online" leaving several freinds and family quite worried about me.
3)- My 3 subsequent bills have also been charged in error with data roaming charges when I am in Australia!?
4) - My Vodafone broadband constantly drops out. I have been working remotely from home on several occasions, when, BAM it drops off and I lose all my work.
I have never experienced not only such a poor service, but the manner in which the issues are dealt with (or not) are beyond belief.
Get your act together Vodafone! We've all had enough!

"No Service" at Maid and Magpie Hotel standing out on the road or around the building. There used to be a Vodafone business centre just up the road.
Saturday 25/06/2011 there was a unplanned Vodafone outage for half of Adelaide. ETA for the service to be fixed was 18 hours.
Wednesday 29/06/2011 unplanned outage in Mt Barker around 10.45pm ETA for the service to be back up and running was 6am on the 30/06/2011.
Pathetic.

Can't connect to to the vodafone.com.au order tracking. The drones in Mumbai who seem to be on every one of the many numbers I've called are useless, claiming no knowledge of it, even suggesting to "try again in a few hours". Most of them hang up or put me through to a number that has nothing to do with my complaint. If I can get through I may just cancel my order.

DON'T SIGN WITH VODAFONE.
They've got "very good deals" of late but you won't even get what you're paying for because of the bad service - bad service infrastructurally and bad service customer style.
I've had my contract for nearly two years and it was great at the beginning - they provided everything that was contracted for and service was good. That didn't last long with the service now so intermittent that I'm often standing in the middle of Sydney CBD with no reception. Or my call will connect, and then cut out soon after - meaning I have to make the call again and (surprise!) pay another round of flagfall. I send texts and they don't deliver. Long and short is - it's useless as a communication tool if you can't make calls and send texts that never arrive at their destination. I'm on an expensive business cap too and it's unimaginable how anyone is supposed to be able to conduct business on such a plan.
It also seems ridiculous that they waste time sending a glossy letter (June 2011) about how they're attempting to fix up the infrastructure but...
Had no time or resources to let all their customers know that they could swap on to the new plans (of the same value) after the Vodafone - 3 merger went through. Customer service told me that I would have been given the option:
(i) Had I visited one of their stores (why would I randomly visit a Vodafone store!)
(ii) Had I visited their cluttered website (why would I regularly visit their website)
They didn't even send an email out to notify their pre-existing customers. So turns out anyone on the old plans has to pay through the nose to make Vodafone to 3 calls; it's not part of the Vodafone to Vodafone minutes even though 3 IS Vodafone (and it's widely publicised and plastered all over their own websites).
Other service providers may be slightly more expensive on face value, but Vodafone definitely isn't worth the frustration. You think you're getting a good deal but you will always be exceeding your cap in ways you were unaware of (and plenty of my friends with caps on other providers have NEVER had to pay extra charges).
Customer service were polite but extremely unhelpful and couldn't resolve the issue. How to explain to someone miles away that in Australia, you visit the Vodafone shop once to try out phones and sign a contract, then you never regularly visit it again!

5 Jul 2011 07:04:13 PM: They then called back the next day - not to address any of the issues I had, but rather to ask why I would want to port my number (!!!) and how they could sign me on to a "new contract" based on my "needs and usage" because I was a very, very old customer. WHAT-A-JOKE!
The last thing I intend to do is to sign a new contract with them!

For people living in this area, I suggest you to reconsider before signing contract with Vodafone.

Over 6 months ago when I went to buy a replacement broadband 3 modem from a 3 vodafone shop, the sales guy convinced me to sign up for a 1 month contract with vodafone saying I would get an extra 2 gig per month more for the same price I was paying with my 3 contract. From the very first time I tried to conennect to the internet it it malfuctioned and since then I regulary get disconnected. I was told I was in a excellent coverage area but when I try to use it it says either poor or very poor signal. Once a week I ring vodafone trying to get the disconnection issue resolved. Months later one of the customer care people told me how to unistall the dongle modem driver which fixed the disconnection issue temporarily, at least once a day I've need to unistall the driver. Then vodafone came up with a brilliant idea and sent me a free wifi loading dock (no driver needed) and a new mega modem. I waited 2 months for both the loading dock and the new modem to arrive in the mail not 14 days as I was told. My modem singal was boosted but the disconnection problem got worse, so I've gone back to using my old vodafone modem with the faulty driver. Recently they tell me if I get a new blank sim card the disconnection issue with the wifi loading dock and new mega modem will be fixed. I went to the local 3 vodafone shop today and they dont stock the blank sim cards. I rang four differnt 3 vodafone shops in my city and each time I got a message saying the vodafone shop phone number was either incorrect or disconnected.

Everything is difficult with Vodaphone. Not sure I will stay with them next time. They need to lift there game even higher.

18566 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible!!! at 29 Jun 2011 07:47:53 PM
After months of terrible mobile broadband connection with my Vodafone stick, and even an upgrade to a newer supposedly better stick with no improvement, I called Vodafone to query the bad connection. They checked a few things and said my settings were fine, it must be a network issue, and they network team would investigate and call me back within 32hrs. They didnt. I called up 3 days later to cancel my account because I'd had enough and wanted to get a better provider. I was put through the ringer, being told that there were no service issues discovered by the network team. I complained that no one had bothered to inform me of that result prior to my call, and they said they called me and left a voice mail. I had not received a call. Despite this, I was still experiencing the same connection problems, ie. dropping out every 20 seconds, having to refresh an address link up to 30 times to get the website to show etc. 50 mins later I had been transferred 6 times to 6 different people who persisted in telling me that there was not a network problem, and finally told that if I wanted to cancel my contract I had to pay a $199 early termination fee. I was totally unaware that I was even still on a contract! My original 2 yr contract expired in June 2010 and apparently it was renewed last yr automatically! Given the lack of service I have received I don't think I should have to pay to end this supposed contract, regardless of whether there is agreement to it's existence or not. The saga ended with my resolution to take the issue to the Telecommunications Ombudsmen, which the supervisor I was speaking with did not seem concerned about. The customer service was nothing short of pathetic. In fact, lacking completely.
30 Jun 2011 11:12:27 AM: That is exactly why I only have a month to month contract or prepaid with any ISP now. No cancellation fee. It is also cheaper to buy your own router or modem from a computer store and tell them you have your own modem. Router's are better for security and configuration. Your own stuff can be used with ANY ISP!! and is usually cheaper and better quality, and has 12mth warranty if faulty. Mobile router-modems are ideal for laptop use even if you don't have a network because of their security features.

Vodafone has released the Samsung Galaxy S2 without having the promised unlock codes (recently they have added codes, the wrong codes). This means that for people who go on a plan to get the phone to pass onto someone else, it will not work for the person recieving the phone unless their SIM card is a vodafone SIM.
As far as I am aware, other big telcos do not network lock phones purchased on plans (as opposed to subsidised prepaid phones), as it's no difference to them who uses the phone as it's paid for by the plan. Why Vodafone does is mystery.

Ordered an item online that was meant to be delivered within 2 working days. I called to try and get a dispatch date and spoke to five people and then two other complaints staff and still couldn't get an answer. Bought the item at a Vodafone store (where the staff were helpful, the phone staff could learn a lot from them) and the sales person cancelled the online order for me over the phone. A few days later, the item is delivered to my workplace, not signed for, is left in an open reception area and now Vodafone are being very difficult about reversing my credit card transaction for the online order. A great big FAIL!

18546 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Tower updates only for iphones at 28 Jun 2011 07:21:00 AM
Well it looks like not many of us are going to benefit from vodacraps 850mhz service. They claim it will make things better for us all, so wrong. I live in Robina on the Gold Coast. Vodabull have switched on Robina 850, and Clear Island 850, as well as the upgrade to robina town center tower. You would think i would be happy to have so many towers for my phone to benefit from the improvement. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!. To benefit from these tower upgrades you would need a iphone or a phone that has 3G 850, 1900, 2100, now if you have Android phone like i have your phone will only get 850mhz only on 2G, so yes you have cell improvement but slow as data as your android will only use edge or gprs. When i switch my phone to 3G you get nothing to one bar reception. So if your phone specs dont state 3G 850 then nothing will change from vodatwits 850 upgrade. Sure vodadud will tell you it will free up 3G 2100 so you can benefit, but thats fine if your next to a 3G 2100 tower. So why would vodafone push android phones on to the market knowing that most, if not all androids dont have 3G 850 only 2g 850. So yes you do get great reception from the 850 upgrade but only slow data from edge an gprs. GO FIGURE.

I am on the talk and text package and have over 5571 free texts. However, I have just realised they are charging me 5 cents a text! Talk about sneaky! What is the point of this package when you cannot use the free texts!?!
28 Jun 2011 02:53:33 PM: The text messages are free, delievery reports however do incur a 5c charge per notification. Delievery reports are handset specific (mostly Nokia devices) and can be turned off via your handsets text message settings. Once this service is diabled you will save money and the only difference is your phone will no longer display message delievered after sending.
18544 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is changes to data charges at 27 Jun 2011 04:51:24 PM
I received a text message from Vodafone saying there would be changes to data usage and charges. I called and listened to the rather vague recorded message just saying that usage of services such as Skype would change but with no information of how. I called customer services, went through to an Indian call centre and just got off the phone, after 37 minutes and with nothing resolved. I just made the decision to stick with vodafone on Friday when my felxicap expired, based purely on how good the data charges were and am told that there is no chance of a refund and they still do not have information on how the charges will work, even though it is happening in just over one week.
When I complained about what short notice I was being given for such significant - although still mostly unknown - changes, I was told that Australia's laws require just one week notice. Their tactics and lack of customer service makes me think it's worth losing the money I have paid for the next month and just swapping to another provider immediately.

When are they going to list these charges that are apparently in line with the contract I signed over a year ago?
Vodafail is an understatement.
Apparently anything from VoIP apps to sites that will require a username and password login will incur a "correction charge". 29 Jun 2011 01:50:26 PM: They couldn't even give an example of roughly how many megabites would be used up for a skype call of 10mins. they had nothing! I have emailed them several times, each time with the e-mail being auto answered with a solution for connecting to WAP services and then saying they assume the issue is now resolved.
Have contacted TIO, thanks for the suggestions. might contact ACCC also.

6 Jul 2011 11:13:39 AM: UPDATE: due to complaint I made with TIO, someone from Vodafone's customer resolution team called and after a lot of repetitive legal speak about them not changing T&C's but charging what they are meant to be charging, i was still not able to get an answer on roughly what I would be charged for from now on, despite having already spoken to 3 customer service reps in the indian call centre, writing a complaint e-mail to Vodafone and then one to TIO - they still had no information on hand other than 'looking up on the internet roughly how many MBs a skype call of 10 mins uses'. she estimated that the 500mb w3ould last for 200 internet minutes. I kept arguing till she agreed to double my 500mb data but as that will still be used up super quickly, I said I would be taking this further and then she said she'd add another 1GB to my existing 500mb allowance. as soon as that's been used up, i'm leaving. just wanted to share this so others can complain and at least get more data/avoid exit fees on their contracts.
9 Jul 2011 10:34:25 AM: If you use Skype, just add a $3 pack and use the Skype on Voda application, problem solved, it gives you unlimited Skype, info on Voda website
18543 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Delay in voicemail at 27 Jun 2011 04:13:20 PM
I didn't know that I had voicemail until it was all delivered on Saturday, June 25th, 2011. I have had voicemail sitting on my phone since June 16 but none was delivered! Vodafone was migrating from their old voicemail system to a new one. They notified me regarding this change, but not once did they mention that we might potentially lose voicemails during this time. Among the voicemails that were missed, were 2 calls that cost me BUSINESS!Cost me money!

NEW CHARGES !!!!!!!
At least the accoutns dept of slowdafone is on the ball.
Just got an SMS relating to their attempt to 'correct' their billing of data.
Calling 1520 outlines the scheme.
From where I stand, i.e absolutely cannot wait to be rid of the pain that I suffer due to vodashame, getting informed abotu how they migh charge me MORE is beyond ridiculous.
It's all about tethering and using P2P torrents, using VIOP via apps like Skype etc.
So where was this info in my contract ?
Changing contract without my approval ?
Lets cancel my contract without YOUR approval vodafone.
OH ! lets see, you coudl charge me for that.
Great big F in the middle of your name doesn't mean
fail. It's one of those expeteives.

I have just purchased my third vodafone lite prepaid broadband dongle. The first one I broke so fair enough, the second however stopped working after 3 weeks and vodafone refused to refund and insisted on sending for repair, meanwhile I had to buy another to use in the interim. Now I have discovered that vodafone.com.au is blocking me. It has been happening for the last three weeks, I cannot recharge my account, check my usage etc and am fed up. Vodafail are you asking us to leave you?
28 Jun 2011 10:32:27 AM: I was told when I rang up a week ago that their web page for accounts was having problems, but I believe that was fixed. Are you using the same SIM all the time? If not, they block you because the account is linked to the SIM. There are so many problems with VF..k at the moment see www.whirlpool.net.au that I'd try to get the TIO to let you out of the contract, worse scenario is that they are forced to FIX THEIR PROBLEM.

Hi I have a laptop and a vodafone modem. This is the only computer in our house and due to my income the only computer and package I can afford. I can never get coverage I can not even get coverage to check my emails or do the basic google searches required for homework for my children ect. So basically I am paying for "NOTHING". this is not acceptable nor is the customer service line that vodafone offers because when I call it I wait and wait and wait and then they hang up on me . So then I get a "IMPROVING OUR SERVICE" note in the mail telling me to visit vodafone.com.au/redeem website to get my new modem well I cant get coverage to visit this website so I get in my car and drive to the top of the nearest hill to get coverage and find out that this website doesnt even exist????? Frustrated yes unaxceptable yes . Dont know what to do.
Regards, FRUSTRATED.

Just got vodafail a week ago and it if the worst service I have ever had. Takes 20+ minutes to load driving directions and even then usually times out before I ever get a map. The server seems to be constantly down. Their data service is virtually unusable. No point in having an iphone from vodafail. Completely useless.
