Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

I signed up with Vodafone about 25 days ago,i was assured by the staff at that store that the reception/network coverage was better than three. How i was fooled. Vodafone is just as bad if not worse, calls dropping out all the time. The biggest mistake i've made. Now i'm stuck with this contract and crap service to say the least. SHAME ON YOU VODAFONE

Vodafone has no reception in my area. That's fine. Neither do most service providers. Problem with Vodafone is they claim they have reception in order to make a sale. Then, when there's no reception, they claim there is. Hour after hour on hold, speaking to Indian call centres, being passed from incompetent department to incompetent department. In the end, the TIO forced them to refund all my money plus extra. Even sending me the cheque took them a month because they kept sending it to the wrong address.
3140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failed! at 27 Dec 2010 03:32:35 PM
I'm on a unlimited plan. There was a Whole week where I could not get 3G coverage. I sat on the phone to vodaphone for 3hours and got so frustated with the fact that I was sitting there for that long, I hung up! I refuse to pay $100 a month for a phone I can hardly use. The list goes on- Delayed text messages, Internet dropping in and out, phone calls dropping out. I'm so sick of it! It's not good enough

3138 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor indeed at 27 Dec 2010 03:32:13 PM
I just went into a store to pick up a final bill after having my contract cancelled. When I asked the girl at the counter how they were handling all the scrutiny, she nervously answered "I don't really know of anything going on. All I know is that our CEO posted an apology for some intermittent service delays last week. I haven't had one customer come in with issues".
What a load of bollocks.
So I rang their sales phone number later today, just for fun. Guess what? One ring and I was through! And it was an Aussie on the end of the phone! I asked him to check my 3G coverage to which he replied "hold on, let me zoom in on your exact house and check......looks like youve got perfect coverage on our two 3G networks". CRAP CRAP CRAP
To his credit, when pushed, he did suggest testing my coverage with a $2 red sim.
My concern is that unwise customers will fall for this crap and sign up. Please help ACCC. What are you doing? These guys are out and out lying.

3137 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Silent night for Xmas at 27 Dec 2010 03:32:03 PM
oops, forgot to pay a bill on time. Had call-barring activated on my phone. Shame on me. Paid bill, call-barring wasn't lifted during the day. Tried to ring a few times but my calls weren't answered when I finally got the ringing tone (twice), Popped into a Voda store and asked if/when call-barring would be lifted. The dude said it would automatically be lifted at midnight. Next morning (Christmas eve) phone still had call-barring. Tried ringing Voda again, more dropped help line calls. Christmas Day rolls around, and I've still got call-barring activated. Can't make calls or send SMSs to loved ones. Thanks Vodafone. I really appreciate that. Seems that paying for a premium Vodafone account doesn't come with premium service.

I have been a vodafone customer for 10 years atleast. I have never had a problem, had total faith in the tel-co i even changed my companys mobiles to vodafone i was so happy with them all untill 12 months ago. Trying to run a business with all the drop outs and no service is so annoying and doing some damage to my business and dealings. i can understand if maybe there is a problem for a week MAX, but its been going on too long i even feel they are not putting in the effort to fix the problem so i ask the question, should i put the effort to pay the bill untill the problem is fixed? But everyone knows doing that is not realistic. I have called vodafone about the problem and they say the same thing "upgrading". Well thats not good enough........ GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER VODAFONE OR YOU WILL LOOSE OUT LATER ON.

I had no internet or mobile phone access in my home since 24 December, when I contacted Vodafone and spent 1 hour on hold I was told it could take up to 6 days to resolve the issue and if they discovered there was no coverage in my area I could terminate my contract. I don't know why they call it Customer Care because it seems they don't care. I'm tired of the constant drop out's on the mobile Broadband which is slower than a snail...

3131 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is TV Antenna would provide better mobile reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:31:31 PM
I was a Vodafone customer for 4 years, always hated both the customer service and the mobile reception - but stayed with them for the cheap rates Vodafone to Vodafone which all my contacts were with. Had a spare Telstra PrePaid SIM which I used in case of emergencies or when travelling, purely for the Reception. Until I got a promotion within IBM and was raised to being OnCall Support. Literally the day of this promotion, IBM Management advised I needed to change my mobile carrier to Telstra, as IBM knew that any phone on Optus towers, including Vodafone, were hopeless for contact and therefore useless for my new role of OnCall Support. I needed to be available 24/7 via Mobile Call, Paging (SMS) and Email as a last resort. So I changed to 3 Mobile, on Telstra Towers, and was a very happy model customer for 2 years: always upgraded handsets, never late paying $250+ bills a month. In July 2010, my contract was running out - so I signed another 24month contract. Within 3 weeks of signing the 2year contract, I was suddenly without Mobile Reception honestly 95% of the time and NEVER had Mobile Internet. I rang the Customer Service and complained, they swapped out my handset and SIM card. Tested again, within 48 hours was having the same issues. Took the phone & SIM back again, but "left it too late" - the 30-day trial had expired. I was stuck with minimal reception and zero mobile internet, with nothing 3 could do. It was during this period of complaining to my friends and family, who told me the issue was Vodafone - that 3 Mobile had sold themselves over to Vodafone! After hearing this I was furious, as I'd just signed a 24-month contract with 3 and was never advised they were now Vodafone! Furthermore 3 knew I signed with them in the first place to avoid Vodafone, that I was purely with 3 for their Telstra coverage. Enraged, I went into a store and threatened to write a letter to the Communications Ombudsman. It was at this time they were suddenly able to swap my phone for a new upgrade, free of charge. I accepted an iPhone4, only to have identical issues: 2 bars out of 5 for Mobile Reception only when I was in the dead centre of town, no coverage otherwise and ZERO mobile internet access. I'd get Voicemails 5+hours late and SMS between 24 and 36hours late. Never received calls unless I was in town literally standing under a mobile tower. I was ringing endlessly complaining to 3, nobody would listen. Went into the Store, nothing they could do and I had to call Support. Still nobody would listen when I said I've already called Support. Then the inevitable happened: due to my lack of network coverage, both mobile and Internet, I missed an IBM Critical Server Alert (Severity-1) as I was uncontactable - nobody could reach me via phone call, SMS or emails. By the time my phone got reception and every alert came though, it was 6hours late: I'd missed the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and IBM were fined $16,000. Needless to say, Management got involved with 3 and my job was put on the line. After numerous angry emails, letters and phone calls from myself and four Management Leads at IBM, 3 began to listen. They've now allowed me to cancel the 24month contract, free of charge, as long as I send the iPhone4 back. Morale of the story: don't stop fighting and don't stop complaining. Don't quit, don't give up - FORCE them to hear you! Eventually someone will listen and THEY CAN ALWAYS MEET YOUR DEMANDS, they're just more interested in stealing your money (and your job) off you first.
27 Dec 2010 03:35:06 PM: Awesome story, well done. Sorry about your SLA's.
28 Dec 2010 11:16:52 AM: Me and my partner are with 3 (vodafone) and our coverage is the worst i have ever experienced. We will stand in one spot and the coverage will drop in and out constantly, we were told we would get coverage at our house but it is very poor. We have tried calling customer service and explaining our situation but they put us on hold and inevitably the phone drops out because of the poor coverage. We cant make phone calls and have a conversation with anyone because the phone drops out and we find that really fustrating when you are running a business. We will be changing provider when our contract ends.
3130 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is All day every day at 27 Dec 2010 03:31:09 PM
I live 7km from the city centre in Belconnen and rarely get more than one bar of reception on my iphone. I rely on my phone for my wireless broadband and it often takes quite a while to get any connectivity. It is also incredibly slow. I have called Vodafone customer service many times and been told my only option is to pay out my plan (ie $70 x each month left) in order to leave the contract. I just don't have that kind of money! I am paying full price for a service which rarely works. You couldn't get away with this in other industries outside telecommunications.
3129 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:30:57 PM
All of the family signed up with Vodafone as they had the best coverage in Glenhaven NSW - that lasted for a few months, and then no we had reception at all in the house, have to walk up the driveway. Constant calls to Vodafone were met with a 'who cares, your problem' attitude.
Thanks for bringing the failures and lack of service of Vodafone to the forefront.

3128 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is waste of money at 27 Dec 2010 03:30:54 PM
I am sorry that I re-signed another contract with Vodafone a year ago. I have another year left and have had to use a Telstra prepaid just to be able to keep in touch. I gave up on trying to use the internet as it was a waste of time and could not do anything with it, another waste of money. I am a disgruntled Vodafone customer and cannot wait until my contract is up!
3127 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is not at all at 27 Dec 2010 03:30:48 PM
i work for vodafone. i have also seen the coverage plans proposed in the coming months, the network coverage nearly triples, then we'll see whose a fail. so what if you drop one call. have a cry. If you have an iphone 4, that is your own stupid fault, sheep!
27 Dec 2010 03:36:29 PM: Congrats for standing up for your employer, it's nice to see some dedication - but don't dare blame the iPhone4 for lack of network coverage!!!
Unless you mean to tell me that every single outcry posted on this website is an iPhone4 user, you're a fool for trying to blame one on the manufacturer rather than the service.

I do hope your team sees this.
27 Dec 2010 03:40:57 PM: hold an iphone 4 next to a desire HD. Look at the difference. should be around 2 bars. So yes i will dare to blame iphone 4. PS. hold an iphone 4 how its meant to be held
27 Dec 2010 03:42:15 PM: so they're fleccing their employees with proposed coverage maps too are they? So when you say 'triple', do you mean that they'll be covering more regional areas? Because their coverage maps currently indicate that the majority of metropoliatn areas are currently covered. So what's the real truth Einstein?
27 Dec 2010 03:46:06 PM: Netwrok coverage better tripple you god damn bitch !!
27 Dec 2010 03:47:53 PM: BAHAHHAHAHAHA "Coming plans in a few months and the network coverage will <insert number here> multiply" - hunny I've been with Vodafone since April 2004 and I can prove in your companys brochures that you've been saying this FOR YEARS and where the hell is the service to date?!!?!??!?? See the Piper Alderman law suit currently against Vodafone? That's how well your companys promises pan out.
27 Dec 2010 03:53:10 PM: people people people. turn 3g off on your phone and see what happens. the only problem lies with 3g. see how many people shut their mouths now. retards make assumptions and don't know the facts. fuck its funny
27 Dec 2010 03:54:19 PM: That is funny .... I'm not sure if you are for real or not??? Either you are trying to stir suffering people or really work for Vodafail ..... After dealing with Vodafail for seven months (finally got out of a contract two weeks ago) I could believe you work for them!
27 Dec 2010 04:01:17 PM: Fuck some people write some bullshit! Who give two flying fucks about an i-Phone-4 or 3G ? At the end of the day, THOUSANDS of people are paying for a Vodafone network service that they're NOT receiving. Hence why Vodafone is being sued. Time to face the facts you retards, no wonder why you work for Vodafail! Here's a handy hint from the wise: start looking for new jobs before the company burn to ash in Australia!
28 Dec 2010 08:21:46 AM: Your a f*$cking gimp if you actually believe Iphone 4's are responsible for this level of retaliation against you employer. I've had Samsung, Nokia(6) and Motorola(2) phones with Vodafail living in 4 different metro locations, but never an Iphone4. Funnily enough I've never had good reception either. Loser, get a real job.
28 Dec 2010 11:11:37 AM: Completely agree - we're paying for network service we're not receiving!!! We shouldn't have to buy a specific phone, nor adjust our phone settings, just to get some reception!
3126 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Fail!!! at 27 Dec 2010 03:30:47 PM
I have been a vodafail customer for over 10 years and never had a problem until 2 years ago when I moved house to the Rouse Hill area. It was IMPOSSIBLE to have a phone conversation on my mobile without it dropping out...I would try to call my husband or vice vera and it would go to his voicemail at least 8 times out of 10.
When I found out the ACCC was involved, I rang Vodafail. I was on hold, on 3 separate occations, for over an hour. I finally got through, and was told they had to conduct 'tests' on my number. When the tests were done, I received a voicemail saying I needed to call them back. Of course I rang back and it took me another 2 phone calls to finally get through, but once I did, I was told I did in fact live in a low signal area and was allowed to leave my contract without paying exit fees.
I now am with Telstra, and I cannot express how much better it is!!!!! I can call my husband and it gets through every time, and I can actually receive phone calls in the comfort of my living room without having to run upstairs. It was a pain to ring them and be on hold for hours - it would help if their call centre was local - but it was definitely worth it!
Thank you for this website and making all our issues known!

3123 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Epic at 27 Dec 2010 03:30:34 PM
We are a small company in Canberra and we were contacted and convinced 2 years ago by a Vodafone salesperson to move all of our mobiles over to a more cost effective group account. We initially told the salesperson that coverage is not suitable for us because we need support for people travelling interstate and into regional areas. However, the salesperson convinced us that within 3 months that the Vodafone network was undergoing a major upgrade and that coverage would be even better than their competitors. We have finally moved back to Telstra - we fell for the oldest trick in the book. Before the move back we even struggled with suitable coverage with Vodafone even in our office located in central Canberra.

I have my only phone a mobile with Vodaphone and my only internet with a wireless broadband. When I entered the contract they told me I was in a very good receptiln area. HA HA! My internet drops out at least 30-40 times a day and I can only get occasionaly receptilon on my phone. I have to move outside to get any calls. I have complained to Vodaphone on numerous occasions only to be told that they are upgrading towers. HA HA. I am on an very limited budget and cannot afford to pay out the contract to go to any other company. It is wrong and if they cannot do something about it they should allow people out of their contracts. My husband travels away from home continually and I need to have contact with him in case of emergency.

I own 3 Mobile's All are with Vodaphone and All are on Cap Plans.
OMG...I asked to change my plans to the most recent plans as I was in the old cap plans. I would pay the same amounts per month but enjoy the benefits of better plans....Well that was the plan anyway... 12 calls to there call centre and $203.00 out of pocket later they still havent got it right. I have also noticed "Connection Error" on every dame call I make. When I finally get through to there call centre 1 hour later, I am told to turn phone off remove the battery and the sim card and after 10 minutes put them back in. This has lasted all of 3 calls then I am back to "Connection Error". They are absolutely pathetic!!! I pay $207.00 per month, I expect to have premo service...instead it is CRAP!! When these phones fall out of there contracts I WILL be moving elsewhere.

Signed up a Vodafone $79/month 1year contract 1st week of November. From day one, I only get 1 bar of signal on my phone (Desire HD) in Prahran. The same phone had full network coverage with Three in the same spot. Moving over to the balcony or even stand near the window (as advised by their call centre techs) didn't change anything.
I kept complaining to their customer care from the first day about calls getting dropped, 3G connection timed out or not able to connect, delay in sending MMS even to a local Three number.
First couple of calls, they kept telling me about some technical work going on around my area and I should give it some time. They promised a call back in a week, but not really sure whats the actual definition of a 'week' in Vodafone terms...'coz it's been almost two months and I haven't received any call backs.
Gave them a month to fix their supposed network issues, and called their tech team again, only to be asked to switch over to normal GSM instead of 3G. When asked why should I be using GSM when am paying for a 3G plan, and that I would like to escalate the matter to their team leader, I was promptly disconnected from the call...and never (as usual) got a call back from the team.
Its frustrating with not only having connection drop outs, but 60-70% of the time the signal goes off completely, forcing the phone to search and register for a network signal, chewing the battery down. Only way to avoid this is to have network selection mode set to Manual instead of Auto, but then if I don't notice a lost signal, then the phone will be out of coverage till I actually notice, search and re-select Vodafone from the service provider list.
Vodafone, unless you can successfully provide the basic service of a cellphone network coverage to your customers, I really think its useless to show off how futuristic you can be by making robots smack on Pinatas...

Vodafone, unless you can successfully provide the basic service of a cellphone network coverage to your customers, I really think its useless to show off how futuristic you can be by making robots smack on Pinatas...
27 Dec 2010 03:37:16 PM: i live in prahran too and it is a total black spot for vodafone and has been for years. i spend a lot of time in my backyard making calls as bad coverage inside, they still drop out frequently though and the volume varies dramatically. i rang vodafone before all the bad publicity started about their coverage, after waiting nearly an hour on hold they blamed my phone so i tried using another one but same problems. am furious to know that they knew they had problems with coverage and just wouldn't admit it. they should not be allowed to advertise for new customers when they don't have the capacity to service their current ones

What a mess - dropped calls - slow conection - no customer service. i thought the problem was with my iphone3g and went to a vodafone store to upgrade to an iphone 4. I was told that even though they had iphone 4's in stock i could not get one because i was an exisisting customer. I was told to go home and try online only to find that they had none in stock on line and it takes 4-6 weeks to be delivered to my home. Thankfully my contract runs out in 3 weeks. NEVER AGAIN..

I am coming to the end of my contract with Vodafone and wanted to contact them to see what my options are so I could decide if I wanted to stay with Vodafone.
My first phone call took me 45 mins before I could speak to someone,...they spoke such poor english I could only understand every 3rd word. I finally managed to understand that they couldn't get the computer working and advised that I call back in 4 or 5 hours.
I tried again and after 1 1/2 hours I spoke to someone who said that they had to transfer me to another section, ...at this point my call was lost and I was disconnected.
The third time I tried, the person couldn't answer all of my questions and advised me to go to the website!
Thank you Vodafone, you have made my decision easy. I will be going elsewhere.

3107 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 03:28:21 PM
I have only just switched to vodafone. Admittedly, it is slightly the cheapest of the major telco companies, but by a large margin, the worse. I have only had my phone for 2 months and get no reception at all in my house. As soon as i get home, i have to switch to GSM to get any reception at all.
I consider myself a fairly patient person, but having to call Vodafone Customer Care 8 times to get a matter resolved is preposterous. Each time, i was on hold for no less than 40 minutes. For such a large company, I expected much more. After only 2 months, I am seeking alternative ways to cancel my contract or enter a new plan.

I signed up a year and a half ago for a Dell notebook with built in 3g/sim card. I have only every used the thing for a few hours. The internet reception is crap, crap, crap and when you can get reception ( which is rarely) the download speed is so painfully slow I gave up waiting for the page to load. The notebook has sat in the cupboard for 18 months gathering dust waiting for the day next march 2011 when I can cancel the $60 per month plan!!!

My calls sometimes drop out every 6 minutes or they drop out several times during a call. It is ridiculous and frustrating. Also it decides to lose service half way through a phone call and the only way to fix it is to re-start my phone. Also the absence of reception at places u would expect reception, eg stradbroke island, was shocking and unexpected.

After several attempts to get my phone to send and receive txt msg's by being given no less than eight codes to enter into my phone, all to no avail. Not only cost me in an emotional sense, as I couldn't contact my teenage daughter ( who only contacts people via txt, as teenagers don't actually want to speek ), but I lost several job oportunities as a result. It took them (VF) several months to remedy this. I have also experienced call drop outs, which forces me to make two or three calls, (which I pay for), for one conversation. I also have noticed of late that a pre-paid plan that I, for a while, have been very happy with is now a real rip off, infact I get less than half of what I used to get for the same money. Great marketing but no customer service!!!!! Talking about customer service, (without being racist), it would be nice to speak to someone, (apart from LARA), that I can understand, therefore having my problems dealt with more promptly and efficiently.
29 Dec 2010 10:59:38 AM: Maybe patchy mobile service is the least of your problems. You may want to put in a little more effort connecting with your daughter...my teenager has no problem speaking with me and I am sure she speaks to her friends, just not to you...MummyFail...

So the touch screen on my phone stops working. Okay, fair enough that's from overuse not Vodafones fault.
But then I go into the store and ask them about it. They tell me "Oh it costs $40 for you to give us your phone to fix and then we'll minus that off the actual repair bill. It should take around 2 weeks to find out what's wrong and then fix it."
So I ask what do I do in the meantime? I need a phone.
The lady tells me, "We do have replacement phones, but we've got so many repairs sent off right now, we don't have many left." I don't really care at this point, even if I have a brick phone as a temporary replacement.
So she goes and looks at the replacement phones and comes back. "I'm sorry, we do have replacement phones, but we don't have any chargers for them."
Seriously? Vodafone? What kind of business doesn't have chargers for their phones? Really?
So the next day i go to one of those little mobile phone repair shops that they have in the malls. $80? Half an hour? And my phone is fixed and back to me.
Seriously Vodafone, step up. You suck and will never be getting anything from me. Ever.

Had an argument with Palmerston Vodafone over the poor signal strength just 2kms from the Vodafone store. Outside of my house you might be lucky to get one bar. Of course inside the Vodafone store your phone reads full bars!
They don't need to have unlimited plans - the 1G plan the phone is on is effectively unlimited because you'll never get a signal strong enough to use the service.

I've only been a customer for two months. In metro areas the signal drops out and the 3G Internet is extremely slow. Thank heavens I only have 22 months left on my contract. I am on the unlimited plan and have 3 gb of Internet data per month. I recently watched one day if the Perth test on my phone and it's lucky the match ended early as it used 2 gb of data. I had to pay for the privilege of watching the match and on top of that they would of charged me my first born if I had if watched the full match. Maybe Vodafone should not include the streaming as counted download for their customers. Very dissapointing as I can't watch the match that is currently in progress as I am close to exceeding my monthly data limit. Overall Vodafone's network is terrible and I only expect it would get far worse further away from metro areas.

I have been a prepaid customer with vodafone for about 6 years now, so I'm exactly in the same boat as all you post paid customers, but it is still frustrating having my calls drop out, not being able to connect at all to a call, slow internet, and having bad reception all the time. Every time I call I get a customer service rep in Egypt, who tells me my iphone is the problem, when it's not, because when I tried an optus sim, it worked perfectly. It's really frustrating, I haven't recharged in the last month and a half because of my frustration, but prior to that I use to recharge with $100 every month. I know I can change companies, being that I'm not locked into anything, but it's still annoying :(
3085 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Embarrassingly so at 27 Dec 2010 03:25:53 PM
I signed up to Vodafone because it used to be the least expensive and most widely used mobile service provider. Now, I experience dropped calls multiple times daily and strange intermittent network interruptions in areas wherein previously I had full coverage (full bars on my phone). I can stand still in one spot and watch the number of bars of reception rise and fall dramatically on my phone in areas where I'd never had a problem before. And such problems began for me right about the time that Vodafone merged with 3 Mobile. And what's most infuriating is that Vodafone's customer service is impossible to reach! The number of voice prompts one must go through on the automated system just to reach a real human is excessive, and even worse is the fact that wait times to speak with said human customer service agents have been up to 1.5 hours! I went to the Vodafone shop where I bought my phone and even the staff there told me "Mate, I once waited on hold for two hours when I had to call on the behalf of a customer." Now that's just embarrassing! Australia is a Developed Country so how can this be the case with one of its major mobile service providers?!

Vodafone claims to cover 99.53 % of Metro areas. So how come I keep coming into the 0.47% region so often ? However not wanting to simply moan lets get specific I live in a Sydney suburb Clontarf. Driving home through Balgowlah I know the precise location of three drop out points in less than 2Km. Even along Military Rd just past Mosman Junction going north Drop out, Going south on Roseville Bridge, drop out. Cherrybrook - drop out. And hey this is not confined to Sydney. Recently in Cairns, driving from Mission beach to Cairns - no signal all the way until well into Cairns - check the coverage map - or should I say the purported coverage map and its all in the blue - but hey it no work despite the optimism of the map. And to and to my anger of course partners phone with Telstra worked 100%. Even today writing this from Crows Nest NSW - not exaclty a rural location - my Vodafone ( iphone ) signal strength 1 bar - coworker on TLS signal strength 4 !
Now we all know we went to Vodafone cos we got a great deal - and of course I asked about the coverage as friends told me it was poor ( if only I had listened to them ) but the sales guy told me that in poor reception areas the phone would switch across to TLS - and I believed him !!!!!!!!!!
Then to add injury to all this pain there are at least 2 occasions a day when it just does nothing - I dial and I wait - and the screen just looks at me and sits there. Seems like a congestion issue to me. Just keep on dialing in the end you get through - persistence is what counts.
Then finally to all you users BE AWARE of the overseas charges - I racked up over $5K whilst in the UK for less than two weeks ( Mostly internet charges ). At least in Europe they have laws to prevent such rip offs. Of course you cant challenge them - they own all the technology to prove you are wrong.
I have had mobile phones since the days they were literally a suitcase in the boot of the car, the old 0055 numbers, I have used Telstra, Optus, and now Vodaphone - believe me when this contract expires - I wont be renewing it.

I hate to say this, but a website like this is only being advantageous to Telstra, allowing them to use these types of complaints to justify them charging far greater prices. When Voda came into the market all those years ago, they forced Telsra, and Optus, to drop their prices. They also brought in Caps, as well as pre-paid. Sure, I feel your pain, I`m also with Voda, but I don`t want to see the opposition increase prices by 50%

Poor reception in Melbourne CBD)
I've been with vodafone for 4 years now - prepaid. Which I've put up with for this long because I was a student.
Now, I work in aged care units around the Melbourne inner city area. Cheltenham, Hawthorn, Dandenong, Richmond... NO RECEPTION INSIDE at all! Very roublesome, as I have to rush outside to make a call (rain, checking in/and out of security) to update my supervisor => Vodafone useless for work, will be changing in the new year.
Also, a friend lives in Heidelberg Heights - in Melbourne proper. Never been able to get a signal within his propery. I have to walk 30 metres out of the house to the street and wave the phone over the road to send *every* SMS - I've been doing this for 3+ years! Smoke-signals would be more efficient.
Had a family emergency out there recently where I *NEEDED* to use the vodaphone a lot in a critical period of time. Damn useless P.O.S. Couldn't make calls out, or receive very important calls. Made a distressing situation a lot worse. Vodafone mobile was as useless a brick - can't even use it as a door stop!

3067 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:49 PM
I am stuck on a plan with vodaphone. i have not called to complain, as my in my past experience i end up speaking to someone overseas who can barely understand english, the call is delayed and i get no-where. i have spoken to the staff in store who are unable to help in any way and only direct to me the customer service line..My phone has no coverage at my sisters house which is about 20ks away from where i live . I spend alot of time there as i am currently unwell. It is very stressful when the hospital and friends are unable to contact me,and for me it is frustrating that I can not keep intouch with everyone. I was with Telstra, and now wish i had stayed with them as i did not have these issues in the past.I also had issues with my phone. In the first case i returned it after a couple of weeks, as there was very little memory and the battery would last a day if i was lucky and still does. I was only able to swap for the same phone, which is the worst phone i have ever had.I can not be bothered going in again as the last time i tried, they need send the phone away and they do not have replacements...SO basically, I have about 18months until i can get out of this plan, and go back to Telstra.ARGH!

I don't mind Vodafone in general but I have had a lot of problems with their Directory Assistance. They frequently cut off the call if they are having trouble finding what I am asking for. A lot of the call centre operators seem to have problems with basic English and the most basic things need to be spelt out to them. What words they don't recognise or they don't know how to spell can be quite hilarious eg. station, hotel. This happened once in an emergency situation and I was so shocked when the call 'dropped out' on the 3rd time after there was a delay in finding the number. It was very distressing. The reason that this is a beef is that we get charged a premium for calling these numbers and unless you ring to follow it up, it is never reimbursed. Good luck with your campaign! Rachel

I have only recently signed up for voda 2+ months ago and am already regretting every minute i have been with this excuse for a phone company, I have LOS to the one of only 3 thats right 3 towers where i live in launceston tas , and have only been able to make about 3 successful phone calls in this entire time and dont even get me started on data i swear i could get faster speeds using some carrier pidgons with notes attached, the other night the entire network turned to shit no signal for about 4 hours, so fed up calls to customer service cant even get through. yeah voda great cap plan if i could bloody even get on the phone to use the calls etc. VODA=FAIL

3062 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is bollicks!!!! at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:03 PM
I signed up to vodafone over the phone, they called my 3 mobile offering me a better deal than what i was getting on 3. i was paying 73 dollars a month with 3. they offered me my first 3 months for free as i had to end my contract early with 3. so i signed up thinking i was getting my first 3 months for free and the dude from the call centre also said i was getting free calls to 1300 and 1800 numbers and all that. i received a text message from vodafone saying i owed them nearly $130 bucks when i was on a $79 unlimited cap. yeh right. i rang up to complain, being on hold for nearly an hour!! so i went with another phone company which i have had no trouble with.
I also get reception which i didnt get while being with vodafone. also i received a dodgy handset which nackered itself after not even a month of me using it and the battery wouldnt last 2 days so i was constantly charging it.

3060 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive fail. at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:54 PM
I am with Crazy John's and sadly they use the Vodafone towers. It is pathetic. I cannot get range if I'm in a suburb on the side of a hill. I have to run up the street with my phone in the air to try and fluke one bar of service to send an SMS. If I'm stuck somewhere and need a lift, 90% of the time I stay stuck as calls cannot connect and SMS don't go through. And MMS? What a joke! I send a picture and it either just doesn't arrive at all or turns up 24hours later.
Pathetic.
Pathetic.
3059 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Useless at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:40 PM
I own a driving instructing business.
I have been with Vodafone for the last 9 years on either plans of prepaid.
As a thank you, to my 9 years as a customer service, when I requested a quote for my stolen Blackberry I got sent from store to store and to online and to phone service, basically pushed aside. I never got a quote till today. My insurance paid less than half the RRP, so I had to go online and hunt for a substitute. I filled a complaint with OCCBA and waiting for an answer.
For the last 3 years it's been several times when my texts never reached my customers and if they did it was hours later sometimes. There is no difference between 2G and 3G internet speed, useless. Their "customer service" is pathetic, non existent.
WHAT'S THIS LARA THING?
2 weeks ago I tried to speak to a customer service, I was hung up by their system 5 times in a row. Next day they hung up on me first time, 2nd time after 50 minutes I managed to speak to somebody from India?!?!
Why the hell do we pay big Aussie dollars if we receive crappy indian "service"?
I want my 1 year left of contract TERMINATED and my money back, not to mention compensation for that period.

3058 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is the worst @ customer service at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:39 PM
Now i know why it takes so long to get through to their customer service. It seems like most of their customers are calling them to get their phones working (Thats if they have any signal to get through in the first place)!! What a fantastic phone company they are. I doubt if Vodafone Management could run a piss up in a brewery.
3057 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is painfull at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:32 PM
I have been with voda for 4 years now.
Only have a few signal problems, mainly at my fathers in pakenham as the repeater is at the far side of town. telstra and optus have good signal.
Voda 3g is a joke, turned off the 3g setting in my phone and makes it a lot more reliable and better battery life too.
I have had a few instances of network busy when trying to connect.
Think the biggest problem is the changes made to accomidate these f'n iphones, the network was a lot better before they came along.

3054 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is poor reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:21:51 PM
I moved from Brisbane to Adelaide and use an internet USB for ease of portability. I currently live less than 5 klms from the centre of Adelaide and suffer frequent drop outs and 'very poor' reception. It fluctuates from 2G to 3G then drops out. This happens at least 20, if not more times a day. Impossible to stay connected to the internet and takes for ever to build a page. I sort information from a Vodafone store and was told the sim card needed changing. This was done in store but didn't solve my problem. My USB works fine just one suburb away at my sons home. Bad form vodafone - I'm a very unhappy customer.

I do not get proper reception. I have had a contract with vodaphone for 2 years and then they gave a deal to renew the contract when actually i was tired of it. looking at the deal i renewed the contract and i was also promised of better service but the result same....pathetic...i wont recommend any of my friends to go in a contract with vodaphone since the suffering and the mess i have been with them. i think i still have 1 more year of sufferings with them.

My vodafone iPhone is constantly out of range even if it says it is well within... Phonecall always cut out and I cannot chat online as it constantly cuts in and out of reception. I also have my mobile Internet with them and because of these issue I've cancelled my plan now twice with no action, every month without fail I recieve a bill. Is it that hard???

3050 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 90% at 27 Dec 2010 03:20:59 PM
My town receives ONE BAR of reception - enough to receive a message but not a call. Plus, when I go to send a message the one bar usually disappearsd and I have to wait up to five minutes before it will find a signal and send. When I drove 15 minutes to work in the next town I have full reception. Thus I can only use my phone completely between 8am and 4pm.
3049 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Bad reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:20:56 PM
I live in Sorrento and since being with Vodaphone I can only get reception if I go out the front and start walking down the road. I can send messages and receive them in the house, but no phone calls. Very frustrating and hopefully will never need to call in an emergency situation. When I first started the contract with Vodaphone I did tell me of my problem. They were sympathetic, but sorry not much you can do about it.

Was 13 months into my 2 year unlimited calls business plan with a Data card. Service was very poor, did not recieve my voice messages and data card was shit!
I phoned and complained several times and threatened to take matters further unless I was released from my contract. They agreed, have porteted my numbers accross and in the process of posting handsets back to vodafone.

3046 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is phone and internet at 27 Dec 2010 03:20:43 PM
I also have problems with my phone dropping out as well as my internet. Usually the internet is the worse... after making many repeated calls only to be told that my area has 100% coverage. Also when speaking on the phone it will cut out randomly or just fade in and out so that the other person on the phone hears me sporatically. I live right by the city - not out in the country. This is not good enough! Thanks for setting up this site... It's nice to know that others have these problems too. Let's hope together we can help to improve the service.
