Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Im am about to move to a new house that i am unable to recieve any coverage from Vodafone even tho on their website it says that there is service in that area. Now they are wanting me to pay $760 to get out of my contract.

15556 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Billing at 14 Feb 2011 11:28:35 AM
I drew a cheque in payment of 2 bills. The cheque was received and banked by vodafone however they only allocated part of the cheque to one of my bills and the other bill was not paid. The amount of the bill was $199.70 which they continuously chasing me for payment. I advised Vodafone of this in December 2010 and have provided them with bank evidence of the payment and still no reply. I have spoken to 5 different people and all have failed to fix it. It has now been over 2 months with no result. To miss allocate $200 is just ridculous how hard is to to look at their receivables ledger and see where the payment was alloacted to. Seriously fed up and I am taking this to consumer affairs. Can't wait till I finish my contract just to transfer to another provider!
15555 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dont care at 14 Feb 2011 10:10:21 AM
I dont get why so many people still sign up with vodafone, dispite all the bad media converage on the news, internet and vodafail, I still see posts of people still signing up and then complianting on vodafail the next day saying there service is not working............Please people do you research before you sign up on a two year contract and then spend the next 6 months trying to get it disconnected. The only to stop vodafone is people stiop being sucked in by thier marketing and hit them where it hurts if people keep signing up with then there not going to fix the problems just be laught at all of you for being so stupid that despite at the problems they have people are still signing up. BOYCOT vodafone everyone and when they relise they are signing up anymore "NEW" customers maybe they do something about it.....I know for a fact all vodafone cares about is signing up new customers they really don't give a stuff about exsiting customers....one locked in vodafone doesn't give a stuff about those customers anymore

15551 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is A Nightmare at 14 Feb 2011 09:04:20 AM
I connected with Vodafone via Crazy Johns on the 4th of February, 2011. Every day since then I have not been able to access the internet without sometimes up to 50 attempts due to not receiving a strong enough signal even though I was assured by the Salesperson that the reception in Oakleigh was quote "excellent". They were not interested in helping me and said I have to ring Vodafone directly. After ringing Vodafone directly on the 7th of February, 2011 I ended up speaking to someone in Mumbai, India. They told me that they would run tests and contact me within 3 to 5 days. Well it is now 7 days and I have not been contacted with any explanation as to why I am paying for a service that is completely useless. Yesterday it took me 4 hours to access my emails because the system constantly times out due to the poor signal. Oh, by the way I have a WiFi pocket modem. Maybe that is the problem. Very, Very poor customer service in my opinion.

15549 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very bad at 14 Feb 2011 08:38:57 AM
I am somewhat lucky that I can just hold a signal if I sit my phone on the window.
It is just enough to get SMS's and hear a call, but not good enough to take or make the call.
I could handle this if I lived in the bush, but I am 5km from the CBD.
4 months left and I am off to Telstra.

15546 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Just lately - VERY! at 14 Feb 2011 05:49:34 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer since they started out in Australia - quite a few years, I had always been happy with the service provided. However, since I obtained my iPhone 3 some twelve months ago, I have had nothing but problems with Vodafone. Calls drop out, reception goes at anytime and in places that you wouldn't expect, SMS messages don't arrive or arrive two days later - same with voicemail messages. The most frustrating thing is when reception fails and I am with people who use other carriers and their reception is fine! Time now to switch to another carrier I think - am so over Vodafone!
15545 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is 3G, Poor reception, Dropped calls at 14 Feb 2011 05:12:52 AM
I must start with saying that the customer service staff at the new Pitt street mall Vodaphone store were very good and this in no way is an issue with them.
After recieving my HTC Desire HD(Vodaphone) on boxing day i have had nothing but problems with the network . Constant dropped calls in the Sydney CDB,Hurstville & Pennant hills areas.
To add to this the 3G network works when it feels like , my phone constantly either drops calls or has such poor reception that i can barely make out what the person is saying .
I have started highlighting my bill with the dropped calls and noting the times that my 3G fails & the sms's dont send however i am not sure what to do next . I also have a Telstra Iphone 4 ( Work phone ) which works at all times and is super quick while the Vodaphone network is down which makes the issue even worse
If i have two more years of this i

15531 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No service, call dropping at 13 Feb 2011 08:10:16 AM
I joined Vodafone service the day before yesterday. From on that day, my mobile often have lost signial, sometimes it took about 45 minutes to recover the reception. During the network failure, i called Voda customer service, first time, they said my mobile has not been activated. I said I have already made a call and recived a call then they said it is hand-set problem. So i I said i change my hand-set(i have 2 spare mobile), they were working good and the the call was disconnected even if i have waited for 45 minutes until the voda support man answer. In the meantime, my mobile has recovered the reception due to the unknow reason. This morining I have a same problem. I have record my mobile showing no service state and simultaneoulsy i called voda, they gave me bullshit explaination like activation, sim fault and hand-set. I was very upset because I tested my sim card and hand-set. Finally they said my area is currently upgrading 3G network so I will have this problem. Why do i have to waste so many time until i receive outrageous excuse. On top of that, i can check their upgrade status on their website but i will have this problem until the end of March. So they recommand me to disable 3G service. Why they did not send me a text message in regarding this issue?
i would like to threw away this bloody voda service. I will put on video clip on Youtube. I will disconnect the shit service.

transfer of ownership - second hand phone.
3 will not change the registered owner if you buy a phone from 3. this means they will not accept it for repair. If you buy a locked phone and the seller does not notify 3 and provide their pin - you cannot unlock it from the network because you are not seen as the owner - even though you can provide a Paypal receipt.
They say they will never change the name of the owner of the phone on their database. The second hand buyer is denied rights to the phone.

12 Feb 2011 10:57:27 PM: That is not true. You need to perform a "Transfer of Service". To do that, the original account holder needs to call Customer Care and provide authorisation. The prospective/new account holder will then need to call back to perform a credit check. Once this is approved, the transfer of service is generally complete within 24 hours.

15519 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Honestly hopeless, even dishonest at 12 Feb 2011 05:02:13 PM
Well, almost two and a half years ago I signed up for Vodafails mobile "broadband" in Hobart, Tasmania. I was on a $39 / month for 5gb plan. (I Think).
Once I set up I discovered that there was no reception at my house, and even when I connected in the CBD it would only ever connect via 2g. No 3g towers had been switched on apparently. Anyway I rang customer service telling them that without 3g they can't possibly class it as broadband and it was even too slow to log on to my account to pay any bills.
Vodafail agreed to cancel the contract and said they'd send me a mail sachet to post the modem back to them. No sachet ever came and no phone calls etc so I left it at that. I wasn't going to sit on hold for hours just to ask why they didn't want their modem back.
Anyhow, over two years of hearing nothing, and much wonderful service with Virgin and Telstra I receive a text message stating that my bill of $1009.50 was due. I couldn't beleive it and went straight into a Vodafail store (calling is useless) and find out that they hadn't actually cancelled my account and just left it building up a debt.
After explaining everything to a very helpful employee he contacted 'someone' whom organised to post out another sachet and said my account would be cancelled straight away. This time the sachet actually came. I posted it away and hoped that was the end of my dealings with this rubbish company.
Anyway....less than a month later I receive a text message saying that my bill of $39.43 is ready. The following month I get another one.
I then went back into the store, a different employee looked up the details and said he couldn't see anything on the system and it appeared my account was cancelled with $0.00 owing. Maybe this was the end of my dealings with them now?
NOPE. Today I checked my phone and had a message left by a Vodafail rep stating that I am owing $119.30 on my account and to give her a call back. Called back and no-one answered. This was at 6pm though. I will call tomorrow and if a supervisor can't sort it I will lodge a complaint through the TIO.
CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY.
Just a side note, I have read a few times on Whirlpool forum that people have posted their USB Dongle back to Vodafail in their supplied postage bag and it had gone "missing". Is this just a scam / convenient way for them to leave the account active? I honestly do smell a rat!

I'm totally sick of Lara telling me to "Hang in there, we'll be with you really soon". BTW Beware of her definition of "really soon" - it's anywhere between 20 to 70 minutes!
Vodafone is an absolute joke. Their network is garbage, their service is poor and their website experiences more technical difficulties than Apollo 13!!
Deifinitely not renewing my contract with them which expires in a few days.

15516 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MASSIVE at 12 Feb 2011 03:50:58 PM
I have been with Vodafone a week and already hate them. After 6 happy years as a loyal 3 customer with no trauma with service, ever, I have had to switch to Vodafone pre-paid as I'm moving overseas and 3 mobile pre paid didn't have the handset I wanted. So, loaded up my $49 credit last Sunday, migrated my number over (having had the same number for years didn't want to lose my contacts) and lo and behold on FRIDAY NIGHT i.e peak mobile usage time for no reason and with no explanation my phone stopped being able to call out or send messages. After trying to contact the 155 number multiple times, and only hearing bloody Lara I finally got through to someone who explained it was an issue that would be resolved within 24 hours, not a human error, and therefore could not be sped up. I waited my 24 hours and BOOM saturday night no service still. Called again multiple times and was told the team who fix these 'technical issues' wouldn't be in till Monday and the rollout of the soloution may not come through till Tuesday, possibly even Wednesday. They also would not explain what the issue was. So for the last two weekends I have been without service and stranded. Absoloutely abysmal service and I see no good reason to stay with Vodafone, having spent $100 in the last week on Credit and being unable to call anyone is about the most frustrating thing I've experienced as a customer in a long long time.
In short, I will most definitely be migrating my number to another provider and staying the hell away from Vodafone once I have been allowed to spend my credit. What a joke.

15514 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hardcore FAIL at 12 Feb 2011 02:00:39 PM
My friend calls me and it always goes to voicemail even when I have full Iphone 3Gs - reception. Safari take forever and even times out, again at full reception with 3G coverage. Facebook FAIL all the time, not loading pages and even to load a comment it times out 99% of the time.
The calls will drop out at full reception even when I have been stationary for 30 minutes.
I feel like there is someone pushing a big red FAIL button everytime it happens.

15512 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Worst company I've ever dealt with. at 12 Feb 2011 11:40:43 AM
Internet is very sporadically working. Some days it is good, but most of the time I need it, it doesn't work (or take 6 minutes to load a page). I posted on facebook to get them to contact me, received a call 28 hours later (when I wasn't around). I tried calling today, was on hold for 1 hour and no answer. Have contacted the TIO... this is the second time I've contacted them in less than 6 months (last time was due to a data pack not being added and they overcharged me).
What the heck is so wrong with the people that run this company?

Disgusted with the vodafone service and VERY frustrated with the following network related issues:
message send failure
unable to contact people via telephone and unable to be contacted!
could not activate mobile data network
searching for network
unable to load network list
network lost: your selected mobile network is no longer available. You can choose a different network in settings.
no carrier.
I live in the Adelaide CBD area and the network drop outs happen all the time.
SUGGESTION: i'm taking a screenshot picture of everytime i experience problems. perhaps walking into a vodafone store with 83 photos of various netowkr message fail messages on my iphone 4 will prove to vodafone that it's not the phone its the network.

Working for two months in Marulan South and Vodfone's coverage maps claim that I should have 100% talk and text coverage, with regional broadband. However, reality is somewhat different. Where I am staying, which is 4km off the Hume highway, has no phone coverage of any kind what so ever - let alone internet. So I cannot call my wife, at all, nor send her any emails. The only solution was to buy a T SIM card and they have full coverage on 3G that never drops out.
So now I'm paying $80 a month for nothing...

15508 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Painfully Slow at 12 Feb 2011 09:16:56 AM
I have broadband with vodafone and its terrible. Sometimes it runs in bps not even kbps. I find the more reception bars it shows the worse it is. Also have vodafone for my iphone 4. Completely pointless to have internet on your phone when it takes over 20 mins just to load google. Calls constantly drop out and always loses coverage. Especially in the city or at home (Derrimut). Most frustrating thing is the delay the website shows your usage. I check my usage often on the website. Last month for example, checked the website 4 days before the end of the billing month. Said another 800mb left. I did not use the internet again for 2 days and checked - still saying 800mb. I checked my banking and stayed at my friends house for 2 days. Receive my bill for $30 more than my plan. Apparently I went over my usage. A delay of 4 days are you serious. Its really ripping people on contract off. If you are on prepay it would show your remaining balance immediately and stop the second it run out. Seems ridiculous
14 Feb 2011 09:16:40 AM: I live in Oakleigh and have exactly the same problem trying to log onto google or any internet site. How can the salespeople blatantly lie to your face when you ask them what the reception is like. They are as bad, if not worse the the company they are employed by.

In wa the 3G network has gone down hill badly. From no reception to dropped calls. This is only on the 3G network. I have forced my phone into 2g mode otherwise I would keep missing about 50percent of my calls. Of which my voicemail may alert me to this 48 hours afterwards. I'm even paying $10 per month for data that is useless.

They also allowed me to keep both of my phones because of my hassles...but they said I'd have to unlock them, and added that there could be an unlock fee.
To anyone who has unlocked there phones, how much is the unlock fee? or did you have to pay an unlock fee upon cancellation??

15498 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 11 Feb 2011 02:56:04 PM
So a couple of months ago my Oct/Nov bill came to 320 bucks! Every other bill has always been in line with my $79 cap and never over and I definitely didn't use it more that month than any other... It was however the month that my phone started dropping calls, losing signal and generally being totally unreliable.
I've contacted customer services a number of times about the billing issues - which they say are not their issue but mine and clearly that's what I spent... It's ridiculous.
Anyway yesterday I finally had enough and rang customer services to cancel my contract because of that and the constant drop outs - they basically tried to say that it was obviously that I lived in a poor coverage area! Paddington in Sydney - I tried to make the point that the drop outs are TOTALLY RANDOM and occur for no apparent reason, I can be with other Vodafail customers and they'll have signal or vice versa but they didn't really believe it.
Anyway they're now doing an investigation - which I think is a total waste of time. they need to admit that there's a problem with individual phones dropping off the network not just the network coverage.
They also need to sort out my ridiculous bill and stop denying that also!!!
I totally agree with complaint 15280:
In short: Billing problem; dropped calls; incorrect advice/ promise by vodafone staff; on-hold for too long; overcharged; poor customer services....

Over the last 4 months I've really began to notice the lack of reception with Vodafone in Metropolitan Melbourne. I found it hilarious that last Saturday night I was standing in the line at Hoyts Cinemas at Chadstone Shopping Centre and I had no reception. It has to be at most 20km from the CBD and the busiest shopping centre in Melbourne and possibly Australia.

15492 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally at 11 Feb 2011 02:20:38 PM
When I first started with Vodafone they disconnected my old service and then sent me my phone and USB - however they neglected to send any sim cards. After many phone calls and several attempts I finally received them - in the meantime I was 4 days without any service at all.
I have been with Vodafone for several months and have an ongoing frustration of calls failing, calls dropping out or no coverage at all. I also on occassion haven't received calls but much later have been notified of a missed call. I do not have a land line and wouldn't want to depend on this service if ever I had an emergency. I want out out of my contract as I am paying for a service that is virtually non-existant.
I also have a USB Modem (part of a combo plan) for the internet and have always had Poor or very poor signal when I have used it from my home. For the last 10 days I haven't been able to connect to the internet from home and have to go to the local library for several hours each day to use their internet. My USB Modem also works when I am at the library. I'm doing more work from home now and I have no internet service.
I phoned this morning to lodge my complaint with technical difficulties and was advised they could only help me if I had another phone I could use so they could call me back on that while they guide me through "trouble shooting" with my phone. My phone is the only one in the home and its a huge inconvenience to have to go and find someone elses to use. Surely there must be a better way of sorting it out. I was also told I could go to a local Vodafone store and they could phone me there!

15491 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ridiculous promotion fail at 11 Feb 2011 02:18:03 PM
Have been with 3 for a number of years, and off contract for a few months. Just moved house and 3 reception was consistently poor to non-existent. Tested a friend's Vodafone sim and got much better reception, and despite my better judgement (being well aware of Vodafone's "issues"), went into a 3 store to migrate to Vodafone. I signed up for a SIM only $35 cap with 500MB data (month-to-month, not a contract). The salesman tried to select this plan which appears on the current brochure and the Vodafone website, but could only see one called "SIM Only $35 Cap 6Mths". He checked the details and it said 0 month term, but said to come into the store if there was a problem.
First problem, I tried to register for the My Vodafone online portal. Entered my phone number and was told a temporary password had been sent by SMS to my phone to confirm my identity. The password SMS arrived sure enough... 32 hours later. Obviously it had expired by then. I tried about 5-6 times before I finally got it within a minute and successfully registered.
Once logged into My Vodafone, I checked my data usage, and was surprised to see that I had 250MB data quota on the account. I assumed it was a pro rata amount based on my remaining quota from 3 and waited for the billing cycle to roll over. Nope, 250MB again. I rang VF Customer Care, told a very bored sounding woman my details and the problem twice, and was then told that the call centre did not have access to the plan and that I was on a 6 month contract plan with 250MB data.
So I went back to the store, and spoke to a very helpful staff member. He said the call centre have more access then them so being told to go back to the store was rubbish, but he called Customer Care on my behalf. He actually had to scan the brochure to show the call centre that 500MB was part of the plan. After being on hold for ages, he was told that the "6Mths" on the plan name was part of a "promotion", where I pay half-price for six months. That's the good news. The bad news is for those six months my data quota is also halved. I said, "That's a pretty shithouse "promotion". If I wanted to pay less for less data, I would have gone on a lower plan, don't you think? And also, for a "promotion", it wasn't actually promoted any where!" He reckoned the plan shouldn't have been on the system, and I shouldn't have been put on it. Luckily I'm not on contract so I can cancel this plan or change to a different one if needed (or go to a decent carrier), but seriously, what is the point of advertising a particular plan and then putting users on a lesser plan than the one they asked for? How is that in any way an incentive? Nice to pay less but if I want 500MB I wanted 500MB, not to arbitrarily halve it and charge me less!

21 Feb 2011 10:07:45 AM: Just a follow up on this: I got my bill and of course it wasn't "half price" at all. I've called Customer Care three times about this issue and was told something completely different each time. One of the operators thanked me for being so calm and polite, as she was used to copping abuse from angry customers all day! The last CSR I spoke to said it was a "system error" due to Vodafone increasing the quota in their plans recently (doubtful as they've had this plan for ages), and she said she would increase the quota on my plan to 500MB. She didn't. It seems like they'll tell you anything to get you off the phone! It's also annoying that the CSRs never seem to leave memos/notes on your account about previous calls or complaints - every time you call, you have to tell them the whole story again, and they seem to have no clue what others have told you as none of it seems to be logged. It reminded me of that episode of "The Simpsons" where Chief Wiggum was saying to a caller "Yes, Mr Jackass, I'll just type it up on my invisible typewriter..."
20 Aug 2011 02:16:25 PM: Hi - very similar story for me. I rang a while ago to upgrade my data usage from the measly 50MB I was on. I was upgraded to the $35 SIM only Cap, having been told this included 250MB - plenty for me. Lately I have had some larger bills, and on closer inspection my data plan is still only 50MB! When I called the operator told me that a 50MB plan was the only plan available at the time! Bollocks!

These are the emails I sent to Vodafone at the end of January trying to explain my frustrations with having no service... me not having service on my phone ended up being a danger for my life!!
"I am writing to inform you of my frustration with having limited or no service on my phone for the past few weeks or more.
I can not make a call, when I can it drops off part way through the conversation and I can't call back because the service doesn't return.
I can't send a text as is aways goes to my outbox telling me it'll try again later. It never ends up sending because it never get service long enough to do so.
I still live at the same place, I still work at the same job, so the location has not changed but for some reason, my phone is not getting signal and I am feed up.
I have tried turning my phone off, taking out battery, looking at the network in my phone. NOTHING seems to work!
I went to a Vodafone store yesterday and the lady gave me a new sim card. I changed the sim card when I got back to work, only to discover that I still had no signal. I went there again today and they said there is nothing they can do as they think it's that network itself!!
What I'm I suppose to do with a phone I can not use when I need to use it due it not having service!!!??? It is SO frustrating!!
I don't see why I should be paying for a service I am NOT getting!
Please contact me with help to resolve this urgently."
My reply back to Vodafone after they offered 1 month free access:
Thank you for your reply and thank you for offering 1 month free access but I can't explain how frustrating it is to not have service on my phone. Over the weekend I had none apart from tiny windows of service returning to my phone only that when I quickly tried to use my phone to call or text that it would drop out again.
How long am I *not* going to be able to use my phone for?
I live by myself and it's nice to know I can use my mobile (as I don't have a land line) at any time to call someone if I need too. Not having my phone working freaks me out *a lot!!*"
After sending that last email in January, I had someone break into my house while I was sleeping - at home alone!! Buy time I woke up a realised someone had been through the house I discovered my phone had NO SERVICE to call for help!!!!!
I sat up freaking out thinking they could still be in the house or come back until I finally got service on my phone to finally call the police!!! Anything could have happened to me!
Thank god they left me alone but not having a phone I can use in an emergency is a very scary thing and I can not sleep easy at night!!!
This needs to be sorted ASAP! The only thing that was keeping me with Vodafone was that I didn't want a new number and their prices are good but I have found out since I can keep my number a move to a new provider. Think I might have to do that from a safety point of view.

15483 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Still no help! at 11 Feb 2011 11:50:11 AM
I've been having issues with vodafone for the past 4 months, and I have been posting on here for the past month. (You'd think by now, Vodafone would've helped me!).
After contacting the TIO, Vodafone agreed to cancel my contract. YAY!
They send me a vague text message agreeing to the cancellation, but saying that they'll send a letter with more details. Two week later, still no letter...despite getting a new bill in the mailbox from Vodafone. Ironically, I was charged $110 for the $29 cap. I've been on contract for a YEAR...and NEVER have gone over my cap, let alone by over 80 dollars!!!!
I decided I'd pay it rather than put more hassles on my already growing stress with dealing with vodafone.
My question is, once I (or if I) successfully cancel my contract, can vodafone lock out my phone's which I received through them on contact? I have two phones on $29 cap for 24 months. I obviously haven't paid them off for 24 months, but if you think about it, I've paid for two $29 for 12 months each, equaling a total of around 24 months. In that case, would it be alright to keep on of the phones and send back the other one?? Or will vodafone just lock out my phone and make it impossible to use with another service provider???

I know my 3 (vodafail) contract is almost up say about 2-3 weeks to go. i went into a vodafone store to cancel my contract but because i still have a few weeks he said i will have to pay out $12.50 as ive cancelled my contract early my point was why should i keep paying you pricks when im not even getting a serivce im payin for cut the story short he went on and on about it and the main point was i still have to pay . i said no im not payin extra i will come back in a few weeks and cancel it then.he had the nerve to say would you like to upgrade I dont tink so LOL
21 Apr 2011 02:03:55 PM: Lol! i had the same thing with my 3 mobile. They said i couldnt cancel in advance once my contract ended at all! They said i also had to call the day before my contract ended to cancel it, no earlier no later. Im suprised they didnt specify a time. I was considering going to Vodaphone but im pretty sure im going to Optus after rwading all of the above.

18 hours to receive Voice Mail yesterday 11 SMS took 14hours to get to my mobile hoping my partner was OK after they had been in surgery most of the night before. Wish you could claim mental angish. Lets play today watch the magic 3G here one for a second and then gone again goes on all day. FIX YOUR PROBLEMS PLEASE. Can't afford at present to payout contract!
15 Feb 2011 06:49:06 AM: Didn't get a job interview because they thought my phone was disconnected for 2 days. How unprofessional... They couldn't even get through to my voicemail! Not only have they cost me in paying for service I don't get but I quite possibly just lost 20k a year on top!
17 Feb 2011 06:42:34 AM: You can claim such losses as your lost job opportunity against vodafone by joining the Class Action suit. Just google "Vodafone Class Action" and you'll find it.

Switched to Vodafone from 3 about four or five months ago. I thought 3 was notorious for bad reception - but nope! At least you know where it works and where it doesn't. Vodafone gives me "reception" everywhere and yet data works hardly ever. It's constantly failing over to GPRS - in the middle of the city! - or just refuses to open anything.
I'd go back to 3, but my money's on them using Voda's infrastructure soon enough. Pleast let it be vice versa!

Call drop outs, extremely slow data.
I have a telstra work phone and basically have to use this permanently now. The signal strength in the majority of Tassie is a joke and even when I have signal I get drop outs.
What literally takes seconds on my work phone to download takes minutes on my vodaphone mobile. It's a joke and I wish I could get out of my contract but not sure where to start.

Im really sick of it. Ive been on this service for a month and already want to leave!!

11 Feb 2011 09:50:32 AM: i just called them up and they said its going to take TEN WORKING DAYS to investigate my account and coverage. im really NOT HAPPY. do i contact TIO now?
11 Feb 2011 10:34:48 AM: Basically, if you want to achieve anything with Vodafone you have to go through the TIO, and you can't go through the TIO until you've tried to resolve your problem with Vodafone. If Vodafone told you they'd take 10 working days to fix your problem, then that means you've tried to resolve things with them, so you can definitely go to the TIO.
The TIO complain takes 5 mins to lodge online, and means that Vodafone have 10 days to settle the dispute with you. If they don't, and you let the TIO know, then Vodafone are fined.
The good thing about going to the TIO is it means that Vodafone have to chase you, not the other way around - you could save hours this way.
Hope this helps! Good luck - epic journey ahead!

I got fed up with no signal in the centre of Perth CBD which has been ongoing for me for the last six months. I took my complaint to Vodafail and they told me to change SIM, didnt work. Change handset, didnt work, report anytime that I didnt get a signal and where, did that for three weeks. Only to be told, yes we do seem to have a problem dont we!
I then started losing my patience and trying to get out of my contract. I was told on Monday that they have recognised a problem in Perth and they are planning to fix this by June (didnt specify which June btw). I then decided to take the initative. I ported my number to Telstra after complaining to the TIO (ombudsman). Informed Voda... only to be told that I hadnt spokent to the contracts team (which I have, a Sunil and also a Lionel). They then informed me (BTW it was Lionel) that I would have to pay 300 dollars to cancel. I informed that I had a complaint with TIO and that while this was in play the account was in dispute and that they cannot charge me until any resolution. At this point they then said OK we will half the amount to 150 bucks. I said nope as I was aware of other customers who broke there contract for free.
Sorry this is a long post and I will see what happens now but I am going to refuse to pay

OK, so I've been trying off and on for the last 2 weeks to look up my account details on My Vodafone at vodafone.com.au. I've tried several times and used Firefox, Chrome and Safari and for most of the options in My Account (usage details, payment history, etc) I get "An error has occurred. Sorry for the inconvenience - There has been a communication problem and your request has not been processed. Please try again later." It's really incompetent to have such a long term outage.

I renewed my contact with Vodafone at christmas as never had issues with them before. Was deciding what handset to get and told Nokia N8 good. Found out it was useless within 2 days and hate it. It never let me use theninternet, at home or out and about, Apps rubbish and expensive, can't send MMs or emails and so on... Asked to change to a different type of phone (thought iphone but now not too sure. One customer sales advisor told me "tough, you chose it, you are locked in for 2 years" one told me I can change it and I have a 28 day cooling off period and can cancel my contract, and I was told by someone else they couldn't fix my handset and I could get a new one and to go to Vodafone store and just tell them it's all in my notes. The store said they had no iphones and couldn't be bothered helping me.
I wrote to vodafone and my email was sent to complaints dept nearly 2 weeks ago, and nothing.
All I wanted was a different hand set and I would have been happy, but now I want to leave the company, after over 10 years, and my husband will leave in a few months too.... Great work Vodafone. Solve easy problems fast and you might have a business in a few years.
No as bad as people missing out on business calls, but still so so frustrating.
Sort it out VOdafail!

Have had no Mobile Internet for over 4 days and my laptop can not read the Internet stick, that was only replaced 6 months ago. I don't bother calling them as am on Optus prepaid and waited over an hour last time I had an issue. I emailed them this time and got a reply saying they would get back to me within 10 Business days. So I have had to go and purchase another companies pre paid mobile internet stick as I have work to do and can not deal with these issues.

11 Feb 2011 08:47:46 AM: Yes, service around the City West area has been non-existent for weeks now. Try switching off 3G if your phone supports it. This seems to fix the problem, but is just NOT good enough! The phone reports everything to be working, but no calls come or go, no SMS's and no data. Just poor form. I haven't had problems in other parts of the city (other than the widespread outage that happened the other week in all locations). It's useless!!
11 Feb 2011 04:48:35 PM: That actually worked! Switching my iPhone to 2G has allowed me to make phone calls, thanks for the info!
I don't understand why Vodafone couldn't provide me this information any one of the many times I contacted them? They really are hopeless.
I received a text from Vodafone cutomer care saying:
Hi Vodafone has agreed to your request re TIO Complaint to waive your Voice commitment due to: coverage issues.
Letter to follow with full details however you may port out / cancel as of today. Kind Regards Vodafone Resolutions.

mate you missed the boat.
people arent complaining about their PIN or signing up with just a credit card....people are complaining about service being paid for and not provided.
I am complaining because they dont call back, poor record keeping in call centre notes, fraudulent sales (selling a connection to someone in an uncovered area- and then telling the customer it was their job to check coverage- hmm let me lick my finger, stick it in the air and test for coverage!)and Calls dropping out yet the call time ticking over and eating into your paid allowance.
Sure people could check out Optus and Telstra, but the reason we are posting here is because we are Vodafone customers and not being listened to by Vodafone.
Vodafone is looking as efficient as a government department in my books.
Oh and good work on becoming an ex-employee- its bad enough the existing lack of service without your merry go round essay without a point.

Honestly I don't feel bad giving the guys on the phone a hard time. They are the ones I deal with and they are the ones that constantly tell me that its sorted. For that string of bulls%$t they deserve all they get.

15457 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Major fail at 10 Feb 2011 03:05:55 PM
I have been with 3 (now part of Vodafone) for several years and had no problems, until I moved to Melbourne ... before applying for a rental property I went into the 3/Vodafone store to ask about coverage and was informed there was full coverage (for mobile and mobile broadband) where I wanted to move to. Of course, when I actually arrived in my new city, alone and overwhelmed, I found that I had next to no coverage for either my phone or internet. Going back into the store was no help and I then spent many phone calls backwards and forwards with 3 "Customer Care", being transferred from one department to the next with long hold periods between.
Finally they agreed to release me from my 3 contracts if I agreed to try Vodafone first. I stated that I did not want to do this as I had been a Vodafone customer several years ago and had been very dissatisfied with the service and reception - Only to be told that the network had been 'significantly' improved. I was given a credit on my account of $30 to enable me to purchase Vodafone prepaid SIMs to trial.
It took 1 hour instore to get signed up for the SIMs which ended up costing over $50 (once any data allowance was included) - for which I refused to pay and made the staff call 3 Customer Care to sort it out themselves.
In short, the Vodafone reception was, as I knew it would be, even worse than 3's! So I rang Vodafone to ask for this to be recorded on my account so that I would have all the documentation required to be released from my 3 account. The person I talked to kept telling me that there should be adequate reception where I lived and that it must be a handset fault (despite it working perfectly prior to my move) - he kept insisting that the only way he could help me was if I called back on an alternate number. No matter how many times I explained that I was alone in a new city with only a mobile phone and no alternate to use, he kept telling me the same thing. I ended up in tears on the phone and even when I told him that I couldn't even have a conversation with my mum without it dropping out, and that I was worried that if I needed to call an ambulance or the police that I wouldn't be able to, he just kept telling me to call back on an alternate number. In the end, I hung up in tears.
3 had also tried the 'alternate number' sham for the purposes of running 'handset checks' but had at least understood when I told them (for the 10th time) that there was no alternate number.
So, 3 finally agreed to let me out of my contract for the mobile and internet, without the cancellation fees. But they were unable to stop the cancellation fees from appearing and told me I would have to call back after my bill arrived to get the cancellation fees removed. I am also told that I am required to pay out the remaining handset installments on my phone (some $450).
A bill arrived and I rang 3 today to confirm if my direct debit was still active (given that they've cancelled my online access to my account details) and in the process found that they had NOT cancelled my internet account in January as I had asked, and been told had occurred. And they were expecting me to pay whatever pro-rata charges there were since this time.
I refused and spent quite some time outlining to the representative I spoke with that it was not my fault the previous person I had spoken to was obviously incompetent and had not done the job they said they would or made notes that this is what had been discussed. And highlighting that I intended to take this matter (and the overall completely horrific service received from 3 and Vodafone) to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman - at which point they agreed to 'make an exception' for me and waive the pro-rata fees on my internet account.
The distress this has caused me - in terms of having to justify myself and make my position clear to people who keep reinterpreting it and choosing to only focus on one aspect of my story, as well as having to repeat the whole, convoluted tale each and every time I have been transferred to a new department - the isolation I have felt all alone in a new city - and the waste of time this has all been has convinced me to make a complaint to the TIO and to never trust Vodafone again (Optus wasn't much better either - their reception was also substandard and the 3 hours I spent standing in their store on hold to their customer care team left me in tears and with a migraine - all to access their 30 day reception guarantee a mere 3 days after signing up).

My bills have gone from $68.00 per month to $150-200 per month. Only happened with the last two bills and i am close to going over my cap this month AGAIN. Cant undertsand how this has happened as i do not use my phone that often. Called up vodafone and spoke to someone who didnt really seem to care nore did she understand what i was talking about. Does anyone have any suggestions?
10 Feb 2011 04:45:17 PM: You should check your account online and see why this has occured. Perhaps if you are on a cap you could have exceeded the cap value, which would mean you could be charged at very high rates. Or you may have used data beyond your limits (in which case the same thing would have happenend - they would have charged you at high rates).
I have heard of people being charged thousands where they were previously paying just $50/month. You can dispute it on the basis that it's exploitative and you were not informed that they would be charging you exobitant rates.
Here's what you need to do:
Get all of your facts (go online and figure out why you were charged what you were)
Call Vodafone to try to have your bill reduced
If they will not reduce it appropriately, complete an online complaint form to the Telecommunications Ombudsman (takes 5 minutes and means Vodafone must contact you to resolve the issue within 10 days).
Good luck!

Most of the time I cant get any signal in Brisbane metro area
10 Feb 2011 03:12:39 PM: I got four bars in the Valley. It worked for me there. Data never works well no matter where I try it. Oh well at least I will never receive excess data charges.

Since January 24th 2011 I have rang Vodafone 4 times regarding the sending of my mobile phone bill in the mail. Always get the same answer its in the mail.
Account is now overdue at no fault of mine. It also took them five & a half days to connect my mobile phone. I have requested to be released at no cost to me from my contract as this service is a disgrace but have not heard back from Vodaphone as yet.

15452 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible Provider at 10 Feb 2011 12:59:06 PM
I have been with vodafone now for a year. When I signed up they guaranteed I would have coverage where I would be using my phone. Not only do I rarely have coverage in my own home, have to go and stand outside for 10min trying to get 1 bar of edge! But when I am in the CBD in Townsville with 5 bars of 3G I am still unable to load a single webpage or use google maps on my iphone. I am sick of it and want out!
10 Feb 2011 01:16:01 PM: note everything that has happend, you will have to call vodafail and they will want to do an "investiagtion" so while they are doing that which takes 5 days, call the TIO, its pretty much the only way it will get fixed cuz vodafail dont give a fuck about anyone except them :(

15451 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Huge at 10 Feb 2011 12:53:55 PM
Voice messages appear even though my phone doesn't ring on nearly a daily basis, simple text only sms fail to send after numerous attemps (less than 50 characters in one case), data speed slow to the point of being absolutly useless. This all takes place in the Melbourne CBD!!! If they can't get it right here what chance do they have elsewhere. I've been with Vodafone for 6 months and am considering breaking my contract and re-joining with Telstra!!
15450 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 10 Feb 2011 11:38:27 AM
I suffered from SEVERE lack of reception, no data coverage & really bad service. So I decided to act upon it and after several calls to Vodafone, hours on hold, emails and complaining to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, I have finally been released from my VodaFail contract without paying anything and was reimbursed for the fees & charges I have paid to upgrade my phone (which voda told me was the problem due to my lack of reception).
To others who are in the same boat, Vodafone MUST release you from the contract. You need to contact them and in your letter you need to give them a deadline, if they do not respond to you. Email the ombudsman and tell them your situation. Vodafone will contact you and will try and keep you but by law they must release you without you paying anything because they have bitten off more then they can chew. They have oversold their service....
Ensure in the letter that you write the following......"I understand I agreed to a contract with Vodafone under the terms & conditions, that I pay for a service that Vodafone provides, however I have not received the service I was promised and hence will not continue to pay for this contract, I would like to be released without penalty and reimbursed any fees paid". and make sure at the end you state that you will be contacting the ombudsman should this matter not be resolved to your satisfaction....
Goodluck...

15446 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is SO-SO at 10 Feb 2011 10:24:07 AM
I have little coverage in suburb 4011. Then again it was no better with Telstra. You would think it would be good at 6.5 Km from the CBD but it isn't. Sometimes calls drop out but I guess that is because of the poor reception and it was no different with Telstra. I have 1 Gb of data/month in my plan. It is impossible to get to 1 Gb because the data rate is SO slow. At least I will never be charged for excess data so it is not all bad.
