26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Just tried calling customer care & after going through the menu i get "We have experienced a technical difficulty, you will have to hang up & try again"
Tried the 1300 number also & got the same result :O/

Ironically i am ringing as i have two weeks left on my contract & i want out as i can't get 3G reception where i am.

Not even being able to call customer support in business hours is a massive FAIL!!!

Thank god i will be rid of vodafone in a fortnight...

Can I ask, has anyone noticed that the cost of calls seems to have gone up over the last month or so? My bill doubled! I did make a few more calls than usual but the cost to call local numbers seems extremely high!
10 Jan 2011 03:13:02 PM: if you stay on the same plan they dont raise the call costs. its why you sign a contract?

Service drop outs. Data drop outs. Poor customer service.
Looking after 60+ Vodafail services Australia wide and they have all had drop outs, changing to edge or gsm networks, rebooting at random - I am sick of being told that "it must just be your handset/battery/user"

11741 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 10 Jan 2011 01:49:43 PM
The amount of time I have wasted dealing with Vodafone is unbelievable, we are talking maybe 5-7 hrs of being on hold and dealing with terrible service from the staff members. After 2 months of calls failing to go through, falling out etc they finally lodged an investigation and stated it would be resolved in 72 hrs. Math isn't a strong point for Vodafone staff members, and then on Monday I call and it took 40 mins (finally spoke to a Supervisor)who stated that he was really sorry but the investigation won't be completed till Wednesday now. They promised it would be completed and resolved by the Monday. My wife was lucky and managed to be released from her contract but I'm still holding my breath.
It's an absolute disgrace, I can't make or receive calls in a major shopping centre 13km from the city!!! I hope the company goes bust.

11739 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is disappointing at 10 Jan 2011 01:40:39 PM
10 Jan 2011 02:22:32 PM: This is a common misconception made by customers that should have been clarified at point of sale by a VHA staff member. All handsets, regardless of the merger are still locked to either 3 or Vodafone. Even with the latest network problems with network upgrading and the division of towers, 3 and Voda are still on two different networks. If you looked on the box, it clearly states that to unlock the handset there are two options - over the phone or online, and of course that there will be charges to do so. You assumed incorrectly, yet you have options.

You can call pre-paid care to see if they will unlock the handset for you for free because of your troubles. If you have already unlocked the handset, you could ask or plead for a refund. If it is truly bugging you, go into a Voda store and speak with a staff member about them possibly pleading your case on behalf of you. Be nice though!

This migration isn't recent either - it's been in movement for over 18 months now. Sorry for your troubles - VHA staff member.
10 Jan 2011 07:23:57 PM: Otherwise you could go into a 3 & Voda Store and asked to be migrated over to Voda. Relatively easy process, you'll need your drivers license...should take about 15 minutes at the most :)

i have been a vodafone customer for 15 years. I am with crazy johns at the moment. i am going to see them soon to see if i can get out of my contract. I am thinking of going with three. although i think they use the vodafone network, friends of mine are with them and have no problems. when i go out country the three phone gets service and the vodafone/crazy johns one doesn't...
10 Jan 2011 02:24:37 PM: They are two separate networks.
3 customers are still using the 3 network and are still roaming on Telstra like me. Not to say that you may still have the same issue. Good luck.

I simply would like to know when my contract is up so I can finally change over to another provider after nearly 2 years of pain. After trying to phone customer care 4 times in the past hour, I keep getting met with "We're sorry, we have a technical problem, please hang up and try again". Their internet email request form is also down! Grrrrr!

Cant get coverage with this 3G wireless broardband. and when you do its so slow
it actually slows the whole computer, Recently I had to get the Vodafail software upgraded as the whole thing would work and now its worse. Programs not connected to the internet in any way go slower when I am connected. At one stage the whole thing locked up for just over an hour.

Had to call to get my password reset to access my account online. The operator was very helpful although had to send the new password via text 3 times because the first two times it failed to arrive. The operator said "Normally it is received immediately" After the third attempt all three messages arrived together. Seems the delays do not discriminate against normal customers but also vodafail itself

10 Jan 2011 03:25:29 PM: vodafone are not upholding their end of their contract to provide you with the service that you pay for. so in reason, you should not be obliged to pay. forward an online complaint form to the TIO and they should get it sorted for you

11731 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 10 Jan 2011 01:05:12 PM
I just tried to make two 5-10 minute phone calls to two friends, and each conversation was doubled in length simply because the service dropped out 3-4 times on each call. Not only that, when I could hear my friends, the connection was so garbled that I couldn't understand a third of what they were saying. I live in Beacon Hill on Sydneys Northern Beaches, and the connection is worse than in some of the country areas I regularily visit. I've had better mobile phone reception and connections in towns like Cootamundra or Stockinbingal than I do in Sydney - one of Australias largest cities! This is pathetic, and as soon as my contract is up, I will be switching back to Telstra.

11729 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is beyond the fail at 10 Jan 2011 01:00:41 PM
Has anyone else had THIS fantastically handy feature added to their Vodafone service- Vodafone has apparently decided that sometimes my phone and I need a rest from the exhausting act of taking a call, and it will tell callers that "This number is not registered to receive incoming calls. Please try again later."

Thank goodness for this little message, which pops up completely randomly, irrespective of perfect reception, phone company, landline callers, SIM cards (tried three), or phone itself (tried two), because without it basically telling callers to Bugger Off in no uncertain terms, I would be ridiculously worn out by answering calls- perhaps ones inquiring about the job application I sent in with my mobile number splashed all over it (as my laughable "contact" number), and who knows, maybe it has saved me from the horror of actually getting a job and maybe earning enough money to get a couple of cans and a piece of string and found my very own super-reliable communication network.

The really big selling point of this feature is that thanks to being untamed by the easy-fix laws of Happens-Every-Damn-Time, I have no way of knowing when I am missing calls and therefore can not answer a call with a completely clear conscience, none of that ooh-really-can't-be-bothered-to-talk-to-that-guy guilt.

It also makes it an excellent party trick to take into the Vodafone stores, winning every round of Pin The Look of Bamboozlement on the Employee, not to mention Pass the Too-Hard Parcel- after three in-store attempts at "service", each time with a different version of "we think you are an idiot, have you tried pressing the power button until the screen lights up prettily and says ON?", I have been directed to call Customer Care...last time I tried that, I spoke with a lovely gentleman who very much enjoyed practising his English with me as we traded saying my address back and forth forty times before he could verify my identity. After that, I was pretty sure I didn't want to be me anymore anyway, and could only imagine how the technical service part of the call might go...So I saved the last shred of my sanity by doing what my phone likes best- hanging up.

Last year i had to send the same handset off over 6 times in less than 12month for :repair" when i got it back each time it would FAIL in a new way so i would take it back. i was without a fphone for near a year. they then agreed to give me a free upgrade on a new contract when i got the new fone it wasnt compatible with the network so i sent it back but wasnt able to pick a new phone till they had gotten the old 1 back that i sent next day delivery 6weeks later they said they still hadnt got it yet, so i waited for the htc desier hd asked if it would be 100% compatible was told yes it would when i got it i found out it wasnt. During this time i was given bad service from rude customer care getting put on hold for up to 3 hours! never getting calls back and people who couldnt understand me. I have been with vodafone for 9yr this is the worst its ever been and i am concerned about my personal information i want out like yetsrerday!

11718 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Ridiculous!! at 10 Jan 2011 12:24:20 PM
I spent the month of Decmeber arguing to get my contract terminated with no cancellation fees attached (I had a contract with a carrier of Vodaphone). After MANY phones calls, hours on hold and talking to people who had no record of any of my previous complaints, my contract was terminated. I was told I would have to pay the fee and I said not to bother putting it on my bill because I would not pay it - so they didn't!!
My issues were the fact that I run a business using my phone as a point of contact and was missing a large number of important calls each day. People would call and my phone would not ring - just straight to message bank and then it would take ages for the missed call to come though (even though the phone said I had full service). Sometimes 3 days would pass and it would take me turning my phone on and off to get the message. Tech support told me numerous times it was not the coverage issue, it was the phone. I did everything they asked me to do and they still claimed it was not a problem. That's when I really got annoyed!!
I am very happy now that I have changed service providers and can't help looking back thinking of what a poor business Vodaphone is running (or attepting to at least!).
16 Jan 2011 12:26:21 PM: "who had no record of any of my previous complaints," Perhaps Vodafone would like to claim that it was someone with "unauthorised access" that wiped all records of your previous complaints?

11717 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TIO Complaints at 10 Jan 2011 12:20:20 PM
Be careful. A complaint to the TIO will not necessarily protect you from the incompetence of the offshore call centers who will send you to a debt collector even if you are in mediation through the TIO.

That is what happened to me this morning. I have a dispute over an arrangement to pay with AAPT whose call centre is in Manila. Two days ago I rang the TIO to say that I was worried I had not heard from AAPT and that the call centre in Manila is so incompetant they could send it to a debt collector even though it is under mediation with the TIO and it should be frozen until we have heard from AAPT.

The TIO told me that would not happen, it was against the process and I was protected.

This morning I received a call from the debt collectors Dun and Bradstreet even though it is in front of the TIO. The idiots in Manila have not a clue that this should not be done but they will send you to a debt collector anyway.

Has anyone who is before the TIO with Vodafail been contacted by a debt collector in contravention of the due process Vodafail must follow? Don't trust that the Telco's won't ruin your credit record even though you should not be sent to a debt collector while in mediation through the TIO. It happens.

11707 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone's top employee is Lara at 10 Jan 2011 12:09:57 PM
Well she is the only person you get to speak with and sadly Lara's propensity to make errors is at least better than network reception.

I use vodafone on a 3G dondgle for one remote destktop. The connection drops 2-3 times a day on average, some days 10 times sometimes just 1 time.

Vodafail's helpful technical support deny any problems, suggested using 2g, and well generally leave you hold.

For my company mobiles I particularly lved their admin stuff ups. We had 2 personal and 1 corporate account. I tried to transfer 1 phone from a personal to the business account. Far too complex for Vodafail's dynamic team. Instead they opened another corporate account...in an identical company name. But the geniuses staffing vodafail decided that perhaps I needed a different type of company a small home based one. So called 'soho' for this whobdnt know small businesses get to enjoy Lara bigger ones get a different customer service phone number and (marginally) better customer service...to keep riff raff out (that would be all the other people stupid enough to use vodafail) they block normal customers phone numbers. So if you inadvertently call the (very marginally) better team it says number not available. So as the business owner the only way I could call the dynamic duffers staffing vodafail was to dial 1831 To hide my number then call customer "service" (lol.) of course the two dynamic teams don't talk to each other and after nearly an hour more of time attempting to add the soho account to my corporate one u gave up. I moved to Optus. ..... And Wow! I can get reception!!!! My calls drop about 90% less often!!!

Buy vodafail weren't finished with me. Oh no, even after moving to Optus vodafail still kept skewing up. How? Well they keep a special list of vodafone customers (ie gullible folks) so anyone calling from a vodafone sees this list, well they kept my number of the vodafone customer list but moved the account. Result anyone calling from a vodafone got 'number not available' ah can thus company get ANYTHING right. What a bunch of f-wits.

F-wits who are sooooo quick to screw customers over. Anyone travel on vodafail? Beware!!!!!! they have 2 tariffs "f^% you over" and "just really expensive". I think they call them world traveller and traveller plus. Anyway the screw you over tariff is the default and it's incredably expensive for just about everywhere you want To go, new Zealand, us, europe, Asia etc . Screw you over tariff is cheaper on popular detonations like Zimbabwe and somalia etc....get the picture. You know how thus ends a call to vodafail customer service sets you up to travel and after 2 days in new Zealand I get back with an 800 dollar bill !!! Oh and I was using vodafail nz there too. And the network is just as bad. Anyway watch out for it, their customer service folks are trained to pit you onto screw you over tariff.

Can you believe these cheaky a$$$ holes actually call me up as each of my contracts comea up to expirey. After years of f%^#*ing me over they seriously expect us to re-sign.

It's NOT just reception. The entire organization is rotten to the core with a culture of pulling the wool over customers eyes.

THANK YOU VODAFAIL

At last a place where we can tell the world the reality of being a vodafone customer.

11706 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is colossal at 10 Jan 2011 11:59:42 AM
Like so many, I have experienced the same things, lost calls, lost texts, calls going straight to voicemail even though I had full reception at the time...

I've had periods (lasting for up 2 days) when my email and internet will not work... full stop.

I have had issues since approx August, but didn't complain as they were pretty rare and they weren't interfering too much.

It was only in late November that the issues turned annoying and more frequent.

I visited 3 stores in 2 cities, I did sim checks but they seemed more interested in fixing the handset (in spite of my putting my sim into a different phone for 24 hours and having the same result) or getting me to pay for a new iPhone...

So I called VF for the first time on Dec 2, reported the issues... then again when I wasn't called back on Dec 6, then Dec 12, 16, and 31. I called on Jan 4 to speak to tech people to launch an investigation... I was told that I would be called the next day... then when they didn't call back by 9am on the 6th, I made a complaint with the TIO.

I then called VF again and told them that I wanted this settled quickly and painlessly for everyone, and after being on the phone for 2 hours with tech support I refused to talk to them again. They then said, and I quote "someone will call you within 24 hours to sort out how this can be settled"... no phone call on 7 Jan...

Then today, 10 Jan, after pestering the customer service person, I was put through to the cancellations area... probably not who I should have been put through to... I got a bit of a shock when told that the only record they had of my complaining about coverage was on Dec 2... so they considered this to be 'out of the blue, and just complaining about it now', then suggested that I shouldn't be listening to 'media hype'... I was then told to give three specific events of problems - as if I keep all my records?

I didn't appreciate the tone or attitude, I was told I could leave my contract but the exit fees of $495 would not be waived.

I spoke to the TIO to add this information...

I'm tired of this, wasting my time... I just want to leave...
10 Jan 2011 01:18:45 PM: That is terrible, I can't believe that was their response!
11 Jan 2011 02:25:13 PM: Vodaphone told me to replace my handset too. But I had to pay for it outright or break my contract for $827. So I bought a new handset outright, GUESS WHAT, didnt fix the problem. I think they should reimburse me for the handset I DIDN'T need.
16 Jan 2011 12:31:16 PM: This extremely convenient faulty record keeping of Vodafone's needs a lot more scrutiny- it could be why their pals at the TIO treat them so kindly.

I previously posted about my phone and leg surgery and the fact that I could not, on occasion, receive or make calls. Which would be GREAT if I fell down the stairs on my crutches!
Now we can all enjoy the added stress of wondering if someone is wandering around using our personal details.
Right now, I'm on hold trying to find out how to contact Vodafone and cancel my contract early. Their email form is "temporarily out of order" and you can't leave a message to be called back on the 1555 number. It seems you can post a letter to PO BOX 2580, Kingston Delivery Centre, Kingston, TAS 7050.Right up there with the technology! I've turned into one of those old ladies who writes complaining letters, I'm a Vodacrone...

After being a loyal Vodafone customer for over 7 years now and not really having any troubles, i had some questions i needed answered over the phone with regasrds to billing, roaming etc. I had to call up 6 times as i was hung up on everytime i was supposed to be 'transfered' through to someone - AFTER waiting over 20 minutes on hold per call!! The waiting on hold for such a long time then being disconnected was the most frustrating thing ever!

@10 Jan 2011 02:59:33...But you vodafone guys keep telling us this is not doing anything to Vodafone and it is only 2 out of every 100 customers complaining. You can't have it both ways ;)
10 Jan 2011 05:29:51 PM: pretty sure its actually vodafone that pays your wages not everyone on here! And really if you want to geet into it we pay your wages by paying for a service we expect to work!!! And telstra isnt that expensive when you think about it would you rather pay an extra $50 a month and gedt a service that works or keep getting ripped off and paying for a service you cant use???

Got my new iphone and had to call to activate my micro-sim - It came with a purchase order, which I threw out. So I call Vodafone to activate it and they put me through to another line, after 45mins of waiting some guy who can barely speak english asks me for the purchase order number, which of course I don't have. I said can't you search by the SIM card number - the first guy said all I needed was the SIM card number. This guy says oh no you need the purchase order number - I will have to put you through to another department ad then you will have to come back to us - So I am once again put on hold. I started googling activating micro sim and found a dedicated phone number so I hung up and called that number & 2 minutes later it was activated - Thank you for your help Vodafone...not..
Oh..and I can't even make calls because if I even move 1cm away from a spot where I get some kind of signal the phone cuts out..What is the point!!!!!!!

11696 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Dodgy Business Ethics at 10 Jan 2011 11:33:58 AM
I have concerns about the latest breaches of privacy with their unethical ways of conducting business by allowing such weak security measures in the protection of personal and financial data of customers. How do I know my personal data has been leaked out and misused may not be known for sometime, and the only way I will know this is that someone else has fraudulently accumulated a massive credit card or financial debt using my details and identity. There is nothing I can do until this happens and how can i prove it? Anyway, should I cancel my credit card I have registered with them and if there are bank costs involved, invoice vodafone? Or if i have to defend my identity, should I on forward my legal costs to them as well? Anyway, I will not be continuing anymore transactions with vodafone and will pursuade every one i knw not to, no matter how cheap they are. The old saying holds true, what u pay is what u get.
10 Jan 2011 03:13:49 PM: I work for Vodafone and use the system that's been allegedly breached on a daily basis. I can tell you that credit card details are not visible, they appear as xxxxxxxxxxx1234. The ONLY time all digits can be seen is when they're entered into computer. Furthermore, the system is not like say a telephone directory, customer details are not visible at one time but rather need to be specifically searched for by name or number.

11695 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is full of stupid excuses and ridiculous 'solutions' at 10 Jan 2011 11:31:55 AM
I have had TERRIBLE reception for several months now. It seems text messages take longer and longer to go through every time, and I often have to reattempt sending them as they won't go through. I often can't call people and get 'Connection Error' messages and it takes several attempts to get through. Calls often go straight to Voicemail without my phone even ringing, and I find myself switching my phone on and off several times a day to fix issues with my mobile internet browsing. I called Vodafone to discuss the issue, and they suggested it was probably my handset reception issues and I should get an upgrade (and a new 24 month contract). Yeah right!

The woman in the upgrades section was much more honest and said that's probably not advisable, but said for anything to be done I had to complete a questionaire with approximately 25 questions, including a record of at least 3 calls being dropped mid-conversation within a 72 hour period (hard to do when you can't make calls at all half the time), who I was calling, where I was, etc. I had to try my SIM in another phone, try someone else's SIM in my phone... and after I had done all of this, MAYBE in 6 weeks someone would come and have a look at the tower near my house and if they found anything wrong, they MIGHT be able to arrange some sort of discount off my plan. Are you joking...?
16 Jan 2011 12:36:08 PM: No, that is how Vodafone has been allowed to conduct business for some time now.
Picking one "little person" like you off, one by one, under cover.

11692 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A Mess at 10 Jan 2011 11:29:55 AM
My business phones are with Vodaphone. I should have realised when the phones did not arrive. I called on hold for hours, they were to be sent again. Did not show up. Finally 2 months later I got the phone. I was supposed to have 2 months free, I called on hold for an hour only to be diconnected when they answered. I am trying to run a business which relies on our phones. The line drops out all the time or I cant hear the other person. It makes me seem unprofessional when it is Vodaphone that is the issue. But the laughs on me, I have a 2 year contract.

I expressed my concern about lack of coverage in Tasmania when Vodafone approached me about renewing my contract 16 months ago. I was assured by the customer service representative that a new tower would be installed by April last year. The coverage in the state is still appalling. We also have a holiday home in Kiama, NSW south coast. I can only get coverage if standing on a stool in the kitchen. In this 21st century its just NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Speaking to a consultant in Egypt with time delay and language barrier is hopeless. I've vowed to change to Testra as soon as my contract has expried - and I hate Testra - but it has to be better than this!! I wish Apple would start up a mobile phone service provider - their after sales support is fantastic!!

11689 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Recently - High! at 10 Jan 2011 11:16:29 AM
After having our fifth faulty handset replaced (in under 18months!) about 8 months ago, my husband and I have had a good run with Vodafone until december 18th 2010 when both our Blackberrys ceased making and receiving calls. Since then it has been a nightmare - texts are delayed up to 5 hours and internet access? Forget it! We have spent days on hold with staff having no idea how to service our phones. We have been lied to, repeatedly hung up on, abandoned on hold and been refused an audiotranscript of our calls as they had no capability to record(!!?). Our phones now work approximatly 5% of the time. We have had no assistance with the issue other than basic troubleshooting and a suggestion to upgrade our (less than 12 months old) handsets by recontracting for another 24 months - the staff don't even seem to know that there is a nationwide Australian issue! To add insult to injury - I recently received my bill! I don't think so Vodafone - it's not good enough. We have joined the class action.

For the person who wrote the following:

YOU ALL COMPLAIN!
VODAFONE IS CHEAPER THAN ANY OTHER AND THATS WHY IM WITH THEM.
IVE HAD PROBLEMS AND I HAD THE BEST OF.
IF YOU FOLLOW THE PROMPTS AND DO WHAT YOUR TOLD WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS IT WOULD ALL GET SORTED INSTEAD THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY IS YOU WANT THINGS FIXED STRAIGHT AWAY!!!

VODAFONE IS NOT OUT TO GET YOU
(AND THE GUY THAT MADE THIS SITE, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY)
GO TO TELSTRA AND PAY 3TIMES MORE JUST TO GET A BIT MORE SERVICE.

NO ONE SAYS HOW VODAFONE A SPENDING 500MILLION ON THERE COVERAGE AND THATS WHY THERE A SMALL PROBLEMS NOW ..

Are you serious??
Are you the Vodafone CEO??
Constant Dropouts,terrible recption,slow data download..
If i sign up for a 24 month contract i expect a service that is firstly as advertised, secondly as per the contract i signed..
I did not sign up for a 50 minute wait on the phone when i wish to query a bill,or do i need to call someone 2 or 3 times because of dropouts and recption issues.
AND NO ITS NOT MY PHONE that has the issue because every phone make and model does the same thing with Vodafone.....
If vodafone listened to their customers and worked to resolve there complaints all of us would not be in this position.
Regards,
EXTREMELY UNHAPPY

10 Jan 2011 11:28:35 AM: Yes im Serious and no im not.
So when you signed up you were promised, what?
Super fast data, no drop outs ever? best service ever? and speak to someone on straight away when you call?
all im saying is customers are never happy. nothing is ever good enough and all you do is complain.
Not just with vodafone but any big company, in retail, you all think your so hard done by.
Its stupid, go to telstra and then you will complain its so expensive, take it all away and you would cry,

THERE IS REASON SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN BUT YOU ALL ARE %2 THE REST SAY GOOD THINGS.
"i expect a service" you would be one type of person who makes a purchase in a retail store and stamps there feet if there is a line

Im not the CEO im just not dont expect people to be robots and i bet you never researched why there are problems with the reception before you wrote in?
10 Jan 2011 02:00:56 PM: You sound like one of their staff members on the phone though. "Im not the CEO im just not dont expect..."
In all seriousness the company must be accountable for this mess, it's not good enough and customers have a right to air their grievances.
10 Jan 2011 02:52:50 PM: You have no idea, I moved to telstra after being with vodafone for 10 years. Telstra is fairly competitive these days, not to mention there customer service has improved heaps. Since i moved last month, haven't had any issues. But keep hearing about the issues from my mates still with vodafone. Optus is cheap and you dont see the same issue with them do you?

Big Companies dont do anything unless there decent amount of media attention. Cheers to the guy that made the site.

11679 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is annoying at 10 Jan 2011 10:52:35 AM
I have made the mistake of going onto a pre-paid contract. It seems as though vodafone don't take my complaints seriously as they already have my business. I ve been having problems connecting to the web-site and thus e-mails, and this is the main reason I upgraded my phone to a sony xperia. I keep getting told it either a problem with vodafone 'upgrading' or my actual phone. Frequently I can't get any coverage at all, and no 'data'.

I never really had any problems with vodafone before 3G, its like they just can't handle it.

I wish i was more of a pushy person, as i find it very hard to confront salespeople with the difficulties I'm stuck with and the 1555 is exhaustingly difficult to get to someone who can help me.
The most scary stuff has been when I have been overcharged or by the wrong amount.

Unhappy,

J

I feel that had I been someone who could easily change to another provider ,that I might have had more attention. Vodafone have given me noithing but strife and even living in Wollongong there are so many places I can't get any reception at all.
10 Jan 2011 11:05:47 AM: You don't have to put up with it just because you are in a contract. Contracts work both ways. Check out the 'how to complain' page for who to contact. If you are not getting the service you are paying for then you should be able to get out without being charged.

My partner and i have been customers of vodafone for nearly 5 years now and you'd think after that time that you'd be considered as a valued customer.
First major issue is the reception, i have none! I am in the middle of Sydney and had to go buy a telstra phone so i could get reception. Second issue is that i asked the nice Indian vodafone lady to change my credit card details to a new card, i gave them the details and they said they had changed it for me. 3 MONTHS had gone by and i get a text (this was the only text i had received) from vodafone saying my account is 3 months overdue and was now up to $500 with 3 dishonour fees. I rang them up straight away and found out that my credit card details were my old details, that in fact were not changed as i was told. I told the Indian guy that and in more or less words was told tough! then i was inquiring as to why it took 3 months for someone to inform my account was overdue, he's reply was "you got a text"! All he could do for me is take $20 off for 1 dishonour fee.
My partner and i have 6 months left on our contracts, it can't come soon enough! in the meanwhile, we have both bought Telstra sim cards and use the vodafone on the rare occasion when we get reception!

Hi, i went on a voda plan in 2008, i ended up paying out the contract in march 2010 because of poor coverage and constant drop out; plus the phone i got on contract broke and i labelled it just another dodgy voda product. but late last year i recieved a text saying (i kept my number and moved to a different provider) my bill had been sent to email but had bounced back so i should expect a bill in the mail and be aware of the $2 postage fee... i rang them and learned i actually had a credit, it took over 6 weeks to recive the credit back... but have just recieved another text stating i need to update my email address on the system and to expect another bill in the mail...
i havent been with them since march 2010 and my contract was due to expire in mnay/2010 anwnyway...
just another example of this corporate getting it wrong - good luck with the case.
i am a little concerned now that if they are still texting me then my contact details are still on their database, which we learned thru the media could be being onsold or stolen by fraudsters.. can anyone tell me how i can check this and have my details destroyed by voda?

11675 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 10 Jan 2011 10:31:52 AM
Our 24 month contract was up on Oct. 2010. Around that time, I had called to enquire about the Iphone 4. I was told it "would be available in 3 weeks". I was then contacted directly by someone in your office with an offer to renew, I again asked about the Iphone 4, "backlog, should be available in a few weeks". We waited for the next billing cycle and called again. Same story, I feel mislead. I was given specific times, relative times of Iphone 4 availability. None gave me the impression that it would be more than a few weeks away.

First week of December, I went directly into a store, enquired. They said they were available by phone. I called Anthony on Dec. 7. He confirmed they were available. My wife reminded me she made the original call to Anthony and was present when the change of plans was made. We had in effect, done the right thing and she was present. Anthony was aware of this, as we debated on whether to get my wife an Iphone 4. It was a lengthy conversation, where all aspects were discussed. Call backs were made, etc. She was present on speaker phone the entire time. She specifically came into the office to do this, as we knew she needed to be present.

Here is what we agreed upon, effective Dec. 7. I was told I would receive a pro-rata bill for the previous bus cap.

$100 unlimited plan, 24 month contract + Iphone 4
$100 unlimited plan, 24 month contract + Iphone 4

$45.00 $100 unlimited plan, no contract
$45.00 $100 unlimited plan, no contract

I was told Iphone 4 were available only 2-3 weeks AFTER all this. I had explained we wanted to change the plans and get the Iphones immediately. I had discussed we had been waiting months and told him we were excited to finally receive them. As you imagine, I was a bit surprised when he then told me 2-3 more weeks. I asked if I would receive before Xmas, and he said most likely. Mislead.

I began checking 1555 for a status update around Xmas time. I was confirmed the delivery should be week of 21/12. I contacted 1555 again on 29/12, I was told it "looks like it should arrive this week". I again contacted 1555 on Monday Jan. 3 (i believe that was you). I was told it "should arrive Mon or Tues" of that week. I then located Anthony's e-mail and contacted directly on Jan. 6. Here is a copy of his e-mail:

"Hi Robert,

I recently received an email from corporatesolutions@vodafone.com and they advised me that the order for upgrade and hardware is on hold because the person making the request is not the authorised contact on the account.

The authorised contact for your account is your wife and the request to order hardware and upgrade the plan would need to come from her. She can do this by calling or she can send in a Letter of Authority detailing this request, (company letterhead with ABN stated, physical signature of the director with the words director or CEO underneath this signature, and the request clearly stated.)

I sincerely apologise for this inconvenience Robert but can assure you that if this request is submitted by your wife then it will be handled quickly and efficiently. There is however an incredible backlog of iPhone orders and cannot confirm a delivery date."

I was then told by you after a few calls, that whole issue never happened, that Anthony had initially dropped the ball and then each successive person did not catch his initial error. I was told nothing could be done to immediately fix the problems.

Meanwhile, my iphone 3 was turned in for insurance repairs over 4 weeks ago, I was told 10 days max. Still no phone and no word from Vodafone. This is after 2 years of arguing on the phone about usage and tracking of usage. Confusing billing cost me $1,000's in overages in that time frame. How many times have I been on the phone arguing about usage being charged that I couldn't track, unless I went and physically counted usage on each bill. Smoke and Mirrors. It WAS the game, all the players know it.

So, I feel I would have changed plans when my contract was up. Other companies have Iphone 4's available, however, I was mislead that this would be happening very soon.

I have had enough of Vodafone. I have looked into other providers.

11673 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception and Lara at 10 Jan 2011 10:22:04 AM
I had a prepay phone for awhile in Melbourne - when calling Vodafail I was often on hold to speak to a human (which took an eternity)only for the call to drop out when I was being transferred to the appropriate person. Since moving to Sydney both my partner and I have post paid accounts to get the new Iphone 4. My partner works in the CBD and coverage is a frequent problem - great way to impress his customers hang up on them mid-sentence?? Coverage is an even bigger problem in our unit. I had the fun job of doing the change of address calls including being on hold for many minutes to utility companies. Once again at a crucial time in the call it would drop - very frustrating.

Only just remember a few weeks back my credit card stopped working - message to call bank.

Bank said my credit card had been "compromised" but no further details

I'm now convinced this was when the vodafone breech of privacy data occured.

Has anyone else on here found their credit card has mysteriously had a block put on it by your bank?

11670 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is By locking us out due to privacy breech at 10 Jan 2011 10:12:10 AM
PASSWORD RESETS and the PRIVACY ISSUE:

A short while back I was locked out of Vodafone. Had to phone the 'friggin' call centre and go on hold for hours (again).

They said they would reset my password, but SURPRISE SURPRISE my new password was now 6 digits not 4 as previously.

I'm convinced that Vodaphone changed the network to require 6 not 4 digit passwords and that caused me and thousands of others to be locked out.

I had done nothing to cause me to be locked out. Eg entering wrong passwords.

Why did they do this? After reading the news of the PRIVACY BREECH of Vodafone customer data it is not hard to put two and two together.

QUESTION: To those of you who also got locked out - Did your password change from 4 to 6 digits. If it did I think we need to start to collate evidence on this issue to add to the class action.
14 Jan 2011 05:00:00 PM: Huh? Password for what? What are you locked out of?

I won't repeat all the issues everyone has aired here but rest assured, I've experienced many of 'em. My post is about another security issue that Vodfone's website has which exposes the previously logged-in user's account to a subsequent user on the same machine.

If I log into MyVodafone then log out and get my partner to log in, she will often get MY account details. Yes, it seems as if there is some kind of cookie handling problem with their site which retains the previous login details and uses it to log the next user in. Give it a try.

I advised Vodafone about this months ago - even directly to Mr Dews-Nothing - but the problem was still apparent last time I tried it a week or so ago. Maybe they'll pay a bit more attention now they're in the privacy law soup.

11666 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception / Voicemail at 10 Jan 2011 09:58:05 AM
I have been a Vodafone pre-pay customer for 8 years, until August when I decided to move to post-pay so that I could get an iphone 4. And, then, the problems started...

Initially I believe that my issues were related to my phone, so Apple swapped my phone out. The issues were fixed for a couple of days, and then everything returned to the normal unacceptable service.

My 3G is so slow I don't even use it, every time I make a call it seems to drop out or people can't hear me. Voicemail doesn't even seem to work no matter how many times I set it up. Unless I actually call 121, I will never know if I have a voicemail.

People seem to be unable to call me even if they are standing next to me and I have full bars of service.

I have contacted VFAU by email to complain about this and try and understand how they will resolve this.

I have been on the phone to a friend this morning and during a 20 minute conversation, the phone dropped out three times. This happens on a regular basis! Also the 3g keeps disappearing and my internet connection is getting slower and slower. The free text to 1512 to check my account balance and the amount owing regularly comes back saying "this service is temporarily unavailable". I have had countless issues with logging on to the 'myvodafone' website. My password (the same one I have used for two years) suddenly stopped working, so I reset my password, this password worked for one day and then the next did not. This has happened regularly over the past month and Vodafone informs me that I have to re-register with myvodafone, which I have done 4 times in the past month and still no luck!! Every time my password does not work, I have to re-register again, the new password works for the first or second log-in then it fails the next time... and vodafone assures me each time that they have fixed the problem. My voicemail has failed to work on and off over the past year. I sometimes get my messages 3 days after they were left or not at all. Don't get me started on LARA!!! She gets me so worked up it is not funny..."Was that a yes or a no?" NO "sorry I didn't quite get that? Please say yes or no" NO "Sorry I didn't quite get that" - it drives me insane!!!! I have complained about Lara to Vodafone on numerous occasions. I am now concerned regarding this latest news of personal details being leaked. How do I sign up for the class action against Vodafone?

My husband and I both run our own businesses. We both had our previous mobiles replaced by Vodafone because we thought they were damaged. The calls kept dropping out. The situation has got worse with both our relatively new mobiles. We now realise it's a reception problem and would like to get out of our contracts to enable us to use another carrier.

Waited on for Vodafone for 40 mins the other day on 1555 and call dropped out.
I've had at least 7 dropouts or people who can't hear me already this morning and it's only 11.40am

So frustrating. No-one can hear me. We are based in Newcastle so it's not like we're in the backwater somewhere. Unless we stand in a particular spot in our home, no-one can hear us.

11653 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 99% at 10 Jan 2011 09:07:53 AM
I joined Vodafone in December 2010 porting 12 phone numbers from 3G due to poor reception and continuous dropping out of calls. The Sales Rep that I spoke to assured me that the issue was due to the two services amalgamating and issues regarding the integration of services. I run an accommodation support service for people who have a disability and it is essential that we have reliable communications to ensure the welfare of our residents. Since joining Vodafone I had one telephone that did not work on delivery. We have constant call drop outs and my Nurse Advisor who missed several urgent calls relating to one of our residents who had to be admitted to hospital receive text messages four days after they had been sent.
My Service Coordinator has today told me that she was waiting for information regarding the medical condition of one of our residents yeasterday (Sunday) and after making a call to the house was told that the staff had been trying to get her during the afternoon to no avail. An enquiry to Vodafone confirmed that her number was out of service and not receiving a signal.
I have now left a mesage with the Sales Rep to call me as I will be seeking termination of our five week old contract.
10 Jan 2011 12:14:54 PM: Good luck on a simply appalling service by Vodafone. Suggest you look at the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, go directly to the TIO if required, don't delay on this one.......people's well being is at risk.

1.Account woes. VF not following instructions and doing 'their own thing. Ongoing: cannot use my handset as they have inadvertently, once again, terminated the service, despite clear instructions that did not include or mention "termination of existing" but ADDING a number/servive to my plan.My God! They are hopeless!
2. Cannot try as I may, through various methods to contact VF , get to speak with anyone. Calls are terminated whilst on hold. VF obviously cannot afford decent phone facilities to handle inbound.
3. Coverage and dropouts. Numerous call drop outs and absolutely pathetic download speed - just not worthwhile bothering to use internet - its so slow.
4.Privacy breach : not able to get details as to whether my details have been compromised as I have received spam mail with specific details perhaps linked to my VF account.

11651 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is better, at last! at 10 Jan 2011 09:07:33 AM
Made a TIO complaint on 1 Jan 2011. (At 3.37 pm they (TIO) numbered my complaint 11/000077, ie 77 complaints by 3.37 on 1 January, mostly Vodafone I expect.) I was called by Rex of Vodafone this am. Recorded whole conversation, in which he admitted that Vodafone have severe bandwidth problems on the Central Coast where I live, and terminated two contracts, mine and my wife's, after 7 months of 24 months. I retained the HTC Magic handsets, which we like, for $100 each, bargained down from his joke 'offer' of $250. Also discussed the fact that Vodafone were effectively committing fraud by signing up suckers, at Bateau Bay Village Vodafone shop, and over the internet, as we spoke, for a service which he directly stated to me that their system could not provide in this area.
We also discussed, for the taped record, that five of the eight accounts I have received were in error, by 70% to over 400%, always in vodafone's favour, and that it took over ten hours of my $150 per hour chargeable time to get them corrected. He had the accounts in front of him, as we spoke, and agreed that they were plainly in error, and should never have been sent.
My experience indicates that there is strong circumstantial evidence that Vodafone, as currently configured, (with misleading advertising, and admitted incapable network, a disfunctional support, service, and dispute 'resolution' system), is effectively a massive fraud perpetration system aimed at extracting money from the Australian people.
10 Jan 2011 09:37:57 AM: Me again, Forgot to say that they also refunded last three monthly contract payments, since Rex agreed that the service was not being provided (on tape). Everybody going through the TIO process, to terminate their contract, should start with a minimum negotiating position of 3 months refund, and, of course, no payout, except for something reasonable, but slanted your way on the handset. Find out what yours is going for on ebaY, used, and offer half that, then move up a little.

cheers, (I feel better now!)

11647 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is It's gotten worse at 10 Jan 2011 08:54:25 AM
Apart from the Reception Issues, I'd like to point out that they have an issue with their billing that is outrageous.
If your call is dropped, and you make the call immediately again, you are charged the minimum call charge plus the flag fall for the failed call and then obviously charged again for the second call.
Unless you are on an unlimited plan, these minimum charges sometimes push your call limits over your monthly cap!

If a call is dropped and you call back the same number within seconds, you should not have to pay the flag fall.
At the same time, if you do call back the exact same number, the times should be added so that you don't pay two lots of additional 30 second blocks at the end of the calls.
Also finally, if the call only lasts for 5 seconds (failed call) it should not be charged for at all!
We are being forced to pay for UNLIMITED plans when we really cannot afford them!

i have been a vodafone customer for years also, and never have i had any problems with my coverage etc UNTIL i changed over from prepaid to plan...coincidence?...the only reason i have not YET left vodafone is because my contract is not up until next month (thank god for that) and i need to keep the number as i have had it for years. i am EXTREMELY upset at the fact there are so many people with access to my information online. yes, it might be employees blah blah but how do you know THEY are not putting it out there for the poublic - which is exactly what seems to be the problem at hand.
gotta tell you it sucks to be me right now, i have paid my bills etc and have only one month left so no point even getting out of this contract. maybe compensation to us all would be a fairer option...as even if everyone cancelled their contracts now - the information is STILL going to be there for all to see.....time to close up shop i think voda....mongrels.
i too also expect some sort od aknowgledgement that my comment has been received.
so vodafone....do you have a solution for this? or do we customers all need to band together and file a class action suit against vodafone for damages done?

11645 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Worst Customer Service Since One Tel. at 10 Jan 2011 08:46:16 AM
The first bill they sent me was 120 overcharged in three days as somehow I didn't receive any included cap. It took 5 hours with various cut outs from customer service to finally get to speak too someone. I am now in a battle to find out what happened to my purchase of the new Iphone 4 which was signed up over the phone some 5 weeks ago. I attempted to speak to vodafone last night and was disconnected 3 times whilst on hold to customer service at 29 mins, 36 minutes and the best was at 42.32 minutes. I actually got to speak to someone briefly. The conservation went welcome to Vodafone can I have your name please. I stated Paul then the call went dead. Not hung up just silence I waited a couple of minutes but got nothing. I have been on hold today for 47 minutes so far but at least haven't dropped out yet. I am a new customer only attempting to find out where the purchase of my phone is. I am lucky I live in Geelong and so far the network has been fairly good. At least better then 3. I am shocked that Vodafone is allowed to operate and is given a telecommunications licence in this country when their service is appalling. Our toothless tiger the TIO should be jumping up and down at the shoddy wait times and pathetic network problems. The only other company I have had this service with was the defunct One Tel which was around in the late 90's. Well done on the creator of this site.
