Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

Been with vodfone for year without complaint but the last few weeks have been terrible and running a business from both mobile phones has been really hard to deal with and have had to give out our personal landline phone number to customers! Our landline phone provider will be rubbing their hands together with all the phone calls I have had to make! C'mon Vodafone get it right!

I've been with Vodafone for about 4 years and never had a problem till just about a year ago. It's been painful the last 3 months, where I don't receive calls or get delayed messages. It's very frustrating to say the least because there could be family emergencies and if I don't get the calls or messages, it could lead to dangerous situations...I'm switching the moment it is possible.

Can't believe you would all whinge about Vodafone !! Trying to get a "so called" great deal but it is obvious to anyone that Vodafone does NOT have the capability of Telstra and the range so I guess you get what you pay for. Change telcos and see the great coverage you will get with Telstra. I wouldn't use Vodafone if you paid me, I want good coverage.

The biggest con I have ever been scammed into is changing to Vodafone.
Costs me more because of all the dropouts!
Discount or no discount, if a carrier promises a service and cannot deliver, they should be up front about how crappy the coverage is!
Nothings changed since 1995....:(

I have two services with this abismal company, one is a wirless broad band, that now has been replaced by another provder as i can only get decent recption on my roof or in wollongong. I also have an iphone with them and again no service at home, with the exception of my roof. Luckily i have a work mobile on telstra. I have spoken to vodafone and they advised that i should realise that the service is subject to avaliability. Which is interesting because i go to tassie reguarly to visit family and asked specifically will i get full coverage. To which they replied yes. this is because we have the dishes to run the same capacity as telstra. WHAT A CROCK, i had to use my work mobile on leave and had to pay for it.
27 Dec 2010 12:00:36 PM: oh and did i mention that when i signed up for my wirless internet that i was promised 6GB 2GB bonus but for 3 months i was told i had it but then they charged me over limit fees when i used 7 GB. Called and took them another months to fix it and then they decided that they would refund me everything. Luckily i was on month to month for wirless and have now pulled the pin but they still charged me for the last month even though i cancelled on the 10th when my billing starts on the 14th. Oh thats my fault so im still having to pay. TIO got the complaint. also got the complaint about the fact im sitting at home with a telstra mobile getting full service and voda with 1 bar.

I signed onto VF July last year - Running a small business meant lost calls - delays in receiving SMS and voice-mail alerts. Finally got out of the contract this year. Returned the handset to them and it took them 3 months to credit me for the handset. Vodafail seems to be the right name for this company.
27 Dec 2010 11:27:56 AM: Fancy getting a business contract with Vodafone, silly, silly, silly !! Bet you didn't save any money !!

yup same as everyone else, Im starting to get right jack of Vodafone...Im not that far from Melb CBD and th reception I get is atrocious...and with the free talk time to other voda's thats a load....I have 85hrs built up yet when I try to use it, it disconnects my calls after 15mins making me use more credit to ring again, and after 15 mins it does it again..WTF???
I am seriously considering ditching this company, I joined up with my children so they can call me with their free talk time, and already 2 of my kids have opted for another comapny and have had no problems...think its time to follow them.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THREE IS BOUGHT OVER BY VODAFONE. IF THAT IS TRUE THEN I KNOW WHY THREE NETWORK IS ALWAYS A NO SERVICE ZONE. WHEN VODAFONE DOESNOT HAVE ENOUGH INFRASTRUCTURE THEN WHY DID THEY BUY THREE. THEY WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO CATER VODAFONE NETWORK CUSTOMERS. HOW CAN THEY COPE WITH ADDED THREE CUSTOMERS. I OWN BUSINESS AND HAVE FOUND REALLY HARD TO MAKE BUSINESS CALLS AS ALL I SEE IS "NO SERVICE" ON MY PHONE.
27 Dec 2010 11:33:47 AM: it was actually a merger of the two companies. Have you tried reboting your phone or even doing a sim swap
27 Dec 2010 12:34:43 PM: 3 and Vodafone are owned by the same company but at this point of time are still two seperate intities.. Kind of like Coles Super Markets and Kmarts, they are both owned by coles but are still two different companies. However, 3 and Vodafone will be eventually the same thing.

Thanks for this site. I kept blaming my iPhone until my brother told me about your site and that vfail were doing upgrades which was why the service was bad. There was one day I couldn't even make a call and we have 4 staff using their phones for essential business. I once swore I would never use Telstra again for their bad service in the past but I think we'll need to change over. I hope they fix it soon?

I purchased a new 3g phone on a plan following promised greatly improved reception in my area. I live in Bucca (Near Bundaberg) In Queensland. To demonstrate the improveed coverage the sales person showed me the "pink" area on the map which indicated full coverage. The "pink" area completely surrounded where i live for at least 30 kilometers in every direction. When i received the phone I found it to be no different to my old phone which was also a Vodaphone. Several futile attempts to have anything done about by Vodaphone have left me with an expensve alarm clock. I will never ever buy Vodaphone again. If you want to contact me ozedave_2@hotmail.com.
2014 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Service drops and slow Access at 27 Dec 2010 11:24:50 AM
I signed up to a 24month contract and it has been maybe about a year. I always thought it was normal in my area cause I was coming from 3. Which was the same honestly. The day change when my friend brought in a Optus HTC connected phone. I left 3 for the reason of service drops and slow access which varied ALOT. Looks like I will leave Vodafone for the exact same reason. Optus or Telstra here I come
27 Dec 2010 12:56:00 PM: Re "Optus or Telstra here I come" suggest you take a closer look into this.
I moved away from Voda years ago.
Telstra's Next G coverage wins hands down and I believe they wont let other networks use it for obvious reasons.
In Rural areas it wins hands down but be sure to get the Rural tick or whatever.

2013 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is very poor at 27 Dec 2010 11:24:48 AM
I heard about this site on the radio this morning - reading through I see so many people experiencing the exact same problems I have - I have been with Vodafone for 3 years but in the last 5 month it has been a disaster - constant drop outs of calls, network connection errors, service not available errors - I thought is was my handset so after a long process eventually they sent "for repair" which has changed nothing. I am trying to run a small business but I get no reception or constant drop outs so it is a huge problem for me - go to the store & even they put you on hold to the customer service site for who knows how long - the result - nothing but frustration...
2012 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 11:24:26 AM
My phone switched itself off every time I entered my flat in McDonald Street, Potts Point, because of zero reception. Bought a new battery for the phone (at the Vodophone store!) because they told me that might help. Then I learned that Vodophone reception was zero in the entire street, not just indoors but also outdoors. Some improvements over the last weeks, I am able to make the occasional call, but call quality still not close to acceptable.

An extract of a complaint I sent after going over my contract limit because I lost track of the amount I was using because their software didn't work.(via email because their complaints button went nowhere). There's more but this is all I have a record of:
Your complaints button goes nowhere.
I've received a $430 bill. Is there any way I can get my next bill reduced or the usage for April reduced to cover my excess usage in March?
Or because for the first couple of months the Vodafone Mobile Connect was set by default at 500MB. Being on a 5Gig plan, I was 'mistaken' in believing I had reached my limit at 1/2 a Gig - so maybe you could take the amount from that.
Or because I've had repeated problems with the software and modem which caused a lot of down time, I eventually bought a new modem and the software in that didn't work either. I called up and a tech guy set me up to bypass Vodafone Mobile Connect. This all put me offline for substantial periods over my contract, so maybe you could take the amount I didn't use because of this problem and take it off my excess.
Also can I suggest you introduce an access limiting device for your customers or at least an automated call if over a certain $ amount. as clearly I had no intention of using this inducing this bill.

No reception where we live (Chapel Hill in Brisbane). When I asked at a Vodafone store, they looked up the suburb on a website and told me there was good reception there. HA! I have to drive about 2 minutes from our house before I get proper reception.
Calls on Vodafone are constantly failing, text messages take hours to come through and voicemail messages sometimes don't come through until the next day.
I've switched to using a WhatsApp instead of texts.
Just bought a tablet and went with Telstra instead of Vodafone for that.
We'll be dumping Vodafone at the end of the contract.

I've been with three with 3 years now. never had a problem with network / data speed! though they r using voda network but its goin good.
27 Dec 2010 11:34:45 AM: I was with Three for around 5 years and had no issues at all. Great reception, even in the country when no one else had it! The CSR at a three/vodafone store said that they are using different towers, and Three roams onto Telstra when there is no service available. Vodafone uses something completely different I think? Hence when I switched over... BAM no service.

When I signed in for Blackberry Storm two tears ago, I was told that phone can be unlocked after contract. But, it is not the case; I was told by "Vodafone" that it cannot be unlocked! Very disappointing! Talk about reception, when you are in a building, you cannot receive or make any call. Bad reception after more than 10 years in Australia!

2005 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Signal at 27 Dec 2010 11:23:21 AM
I know at least one person with every other network in my area and they all have full signal all the time, and then there is me with only one bar or no signal at all. The worst part of it is that i work a job where i have to keep my phone on me at all times, as i am on call 24/7, but just last week i almost lost my job for failing to answer a call and it wasn't the first time, all because the signal constantly drops out. I have tried to get out of my contract explaining that when i signed up, i was told my area would have full service, but it doesn't and they will not let me out of my contract unless i pay it all out. I'm sorry but i reall hate vodafone

- Direct Debit via Credit Card set up and still can receive "Outstanding ammount. Unbelievable !!
- Poor reception and many times unable to make calls to my wife or my wife calling me.
- More and more unexplained line drop off or "Error in Connection" - this is disgusting given the level of service you would expect from a giant telco.
- Can never get through customer support and when you filed a complaint online; it assumes the issue is resolved unless you call back - but in the first place you can never get through.

2002 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Country Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:41 AM
I have a Vodafone mobile, and a seldom used pre-paid Other Carrier mobile. When going to South Gippsland, I need to set my vodafone to divert to my Other Carrier when out of coverage area. Korumburra has a big tall comms tower on a hill, obviously without any Vodafone service on it. There is one small area of around 2 square metres halfway up the main street, and a similar sliver of space at the Tourist Railway Station at Korumburra that I actually get reception, otherwise its diverted my other phone which is rings for over 95% of the calls made to me when in Korumburra. I miss calls, texts, and the handset muight as well be a piece of cheese for its usefullness in this situation. OTHERWISE I don't have any problems with it, except the 1555 call and data usage SMS service is often out of action or takes sometimes up to an hour to reply
2001 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Complete failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:38 AM
I recently needed to upgrade to a smart-phone on a higher plan and decided to go with 3-Vodafone. I checked out their deals and went with a Blackberry on a cap plan as it sounded pretty good. It wasn't until a week after I'd signed the 2-year contract that I was then told that their Blackberry doesn't operate with any applications (such as GPS). I've thus wasted my money and am now locked into a contract with a smart-phone that cant do anything. Smells like misleading info to me....
2000 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is bottom of the pits at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:37 AM
Well, after they couldn't manage to send me a single bill and after 5 months of me hounding them for one, they disconnected my account for failing to pay up... then came the $1000 unexplained bill notification via text message, with a threat to disconnect me AGAIN, for failing to pay a bill I had never received...this was 3 months worth of bills that they still refuse to explain, even after I was advised to raise my cap limit to keep bills manageable ( mind you my usage never changed but the bills would vary by hundreds of dollars. If only I had known about the TIO back then. Finally after my handset broke, and they refused to help me as it was one week out of warranty (and still had about a year left on the contract), I went and got a Telstra account. Perfect service, great reception, much better than the crap I had to go through with Vodafone. Then I discovered that I also have a bad credit rating thanks to them, after trying to sort out the mess with them I just walked away and gave up, until now. After lodging a complaint with the TIO, who are fantastic, I recieved a voicemail message from Vodafone, with a request for me to contact them on a mobile number... which I did, and it was disconnected, so I contacted TIO a 2nd time. This time I got a request from Vodafone asking me to TEXT them. No reply again, so now the TIO is taking this onto a further level. Thank goodness these guys exist.

I live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Several times I have made a phone call on my phone, driven to another suburb and attempted to make another phone call only to have 'No Service' displayed across the top of my phone. I'm not talking from Maroubra to Bankstown, I'm talking Coogee to Bondi. In addition to this, I have to keep my phone on the 2G network because if I leave 3G switched on, I lose service. Vodafone you are a disgrace. This has been happening ever since I signed a contract in may. I won't be making that mistake again.

i ordered 15 iphones for all my employees, after 2 weeks we chucked all of em, and we are with another company
the cost wasnt much but it's a pain when u cant reach a group of 15 people.
when i think about it, i think the tecknology used by vodafone is still in the 90's. these new phones will fry vodafone's network sooner or later.
i suggest to vodafone to sell itself to telstra for cheap, cause if half ur customers are complaining, means the other half is on pre paid or just dont use their mobile like a pensioner or something like that.
as for customers, the only thing u'll get out of vodafone is all ur money back, vodafone wont be investigated, they will have the rug pulled from under em without them even noticing

We spoke to Vodafone and all they could tell us was "we havent had anyone coming to us with problems about coverage and that all you can do is reset your phones and see if that helps and if not you will have to put it in to get fixed"
We are really not happy with Vodafone and would like to go to another company but we are locked into a contract with Vodafone.. so we are paying for something that is not what we signed up for.

1994 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Worst Network ever at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:53 AM
When I am at home in Blackburn - Victoria, there is no network understandable, but when I was at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) in the middle of the melbourne city, I see huge amount of advertisement of vodafone but when I tried calling or logging onto internet from my phone no network at all, can you believe you are in the middle of the city and no network, you can only get this problem with VODAFONE!!!! such as disgrace, misleading the customers by false advertisement and sponsoring cricket to misguide common man.
1993 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:39 AM
My visual voicemail for iphone dropped out 6 months ago and was replaced with normal voicemail. Now I receive notice of voice messages upto 8 hours after message was left. Then the message states an incorrect date and time which the message was left. This on top of constant service dropouts. I can only access a 3G network for data around 40% of my time. I am almost totally now reliant on wifi for data.

I've been with Vodafail for the last 4 years, and have experienced the same problems as everyone else, most annoying of all has to be the constant call fails, even when my phone shows 2 bars of coverage!!!
Its got so bad, i bought a pre-paid Telstra phone last week, just so i could call friends and family for christmas!!!
As i type, sitting in my own house, within the metro area, i cannot make a call or send a message, oh and look, a voicemail message just popped up!!! From 3 bloody days ago!!!!!!!
Nice work Vodafail, looking forward to ending my contract soon, and telling everyone i know, to never ever use any products or services supplied by your retarded company!!!!

1991 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Reception Deception at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:27 AM
I live in Kalgoorlie, WA.
ONLY VODAFONE requires that you have to move about to get useable reception - from around the inside the house to standing in the driveway.
The Vodafone-trained employees at Vodafone Kalgoorlie ARE NOT interested in faults, only in Sales. They also have VERY limited product knowledge, especially phone features.
And, don't you just love the "typewriter" sound effects "Lara" gives you when you call for an account balance - talk about antiquated.
Last, but not least, Phone Bank is phone wank, Vodafone must have taken a leaf out of the Banks when developing this rip-off.

I actually left Vodafone last month and switched to Telstra (shock horror) and very glad I did. There's another forum for complaining about Vodafone (and other telcos) which you should all look at - www.winjje.com. Post your winjjes and start a grassroots Vodafone campaign there too, increase our exposure
1989 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is crap at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:22 AM
I was with vodafone for many years and i was a good customer then the calls started dropping out and my reception would go for 30 minutes at a time. When i emailed vodafone they gave me the run around saying check my phone and that would be the problem and then telling me use other phones or try other places in my house i did this and i knew it was just a load of crap as i had tried all this previously. The problem was them and it was when i called and they would not do anything but tell me i had to try things like other phones i would and they still did nothing when i said i was changeing to another provider they said well you do that. So the people vodafone has taking complaints from another country are not filtering the complaints through to the people here obviously thsi shows how you cant just put call centres overseas they dont always do the job but hide the problems it has been since this has happened that my service has become so bad i changed to optus.
1988 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:06 AM
Hi - I'm a Telstra customer and want to thank Vodafail. I've never had a issue with Telstra and coverage is always brilliant. However, times are tough and Telstra are more expensive than other networks which made me think about cheaper options. I've noticed lately that a now desperate Vodafone is saturating print media with bargain offers to join their network. If it wasn't for the great work Vodafail is doing, I would have been conned into joining Vodafone to take advantage of the cheap pricing. I'm not spruiking any particular network - just want to thank Vodafail.com for sparing me unending anguish, despair and extreme anger!
1987 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is really really fail x2000 at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:02 AM
Vodafone's network keeps dropping out on me, when im in my room when im in the car or when im walking or standing still. I was in a very important interview with William Angliss Institute over the phone and suddenly within the last few moments of the interview I was cut off completely. Not only is this bad PR for Vodafone but its completely embarrassing for me because I had to mention that it was the networks fault for being rude and being the reason why I was cut off. Not to mention when i was complaining about the network to the customer service, what do you think happened? my coverage was cut off again then I rang again and had to wait a further 40 mins because of the phone waiting period. Then they had the nerve to blame it on my Blackberry and asked the network coverage is mostly likely due to your handheld.... no its not its your own coverage.... they are seriously screwed.
1986 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is low coverage in albany at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:51 AM

1985 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is :( at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:49 AM
Vodafone contacted me 14 months ago after ending a contract and sold me on the the 3G iphone. A great deal of 1GB of data, txt, free calls & a free iphone all for a reasonable monthly cost. BUT, I can't use the phone, there is absolutely NO COVERAGE. Even after they plugged the 3GS as having the most reception it failed
1984 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is below par at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:38 AM
Since upgrading to a touch-screen smart phone, I'm surprised how many people I've spoken to about how poor the data performance is on Vodafone, in and around Melbourne. I know people with Android (HTD), Windows, Apple and Nokia smart phones and are all on Vodafone and the performance is just expected to be less than average.
I've since started working with several people using the same phones on the Telstra network and performance and coverage is between 2-5 times better at all times.
3 months left of a Vodafone contract and I'll be switching away, for good.

1983 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:27 AM
Since Vodafail took over 3 we have been experiencing all the same issues as Vodafail customers. We are at a point where we are so over the dropped calls, no reception and other service fails that we may have to go back to Telstra. Unfortunately, when a company takes over another you don't have a say (of course) but in this case, there should be some system for cancelling contracts etc. We left Vodafone years ago and had never planned to go back and now are stuck until contract runs out.

we entered a contract 18 Months ago for 7 Phones spread across our business and Family in 3 States, when we signed the contact we told the Sales Person that we ( Myself and mywife) travelled in our Caravan (Grey Nomads) it was stated that we would have no problems would and get service in 95% of Populated areas, our experience has been NOT TRUE and lie, we have many instances recorded with Vodafone McLaren Vale only 20KLm from Adelaide, Right up the East Coast of NSW after leaving Melboure till be reached Wollongong NO SERVICE
On calling at Votafone Offices even their Staff acknowledge the lack of Service Towns like Tamworth, Orange etc if you are 4-5 Klm out of town you lose Service,
In Addition one of the Phone User who lives in the Tweed Area has problems with Service in that Area
Users i n Adelaide, Sydney, have problems with Service and Data reception
Drop out on all phones is common
On a recent visit to Sydney we where at Strathfield NO Reception inside you had to go outside to use the phone Now this is 15KLm from the GPO
One Votafone Office told us to put the phone on 2G when 3G did not work, My wife and myself have our Phones on 2G most of the time
We are at Victor Harbor at the moment and only get Service on 2G
Now we paid for a Service on 3G that is why we have iphones

27 Dec 2010 11:51:45 AM: If you think that McLaren Vale is 20 km form Adelaide then you need to change tape measure companies.
27 Dec 2010 01:09:29 PM: Dude, you don't get 3g service in Victor because you didn't buy a phone that is compatible with Vodafone's rural 3g network. Such phones must run on 900Mhz 3g. The iPhone 3g is not one of these.
1981 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very bad to extremely aweful!! at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:08 AM
I have been a 3 customer for many years, and now it has become part of Vodofone. Since merging the companies, the call-drop rate is extremely high. Also the new handset we got from Vodofone had very poor recepiton. We exchanged it, still nothing has changed!! call drops so often!! it is not funny any longer, it affects business, contacts, communication and everything we use the phone for.Thank you for being prepared to do something about it.

Ordered an IFONE in July 2010 with an account. To this day I have enjoyed ONE DAY of live fone use. My number has been blocked by vodafone for no known reason (they dont know either!).
After numerous calls to vodafone, numerous letters, application to the ombudsman and ombudsman action and a visit to vodafone office in Broadway Sydney I STILL on December 27, 2010 have no connection and a dead phone.
I have been a vodafone prepaid customer for 10years. Clearly they appreciate and look after their long term customers .....NOT.

1978 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Just generally... at 27 Dec 2010 11:18:47 AM
Thought I'd add my two cents worth. I've been with a few other providers but this is undoubtedly the worst. The justification I made to myself was the daily drop outs and poor data reception was just a fact of using a discount provider (I only call them discount as they are cheaper than Telstra). Can't say I'm happy about it, I drive to and from work (in Brisbane) the trip takes 20 minutes and I have never (sounds like a generalisation but it isn't) been able to conduct a conversation for that full length of time without it dropping out, breaking up, one person not able to communicate or turn into very loud unintelligible audio squawk (which is pretty bad in an ear piece while I'm driving). Saw your site promoted on the ABCnews site. Nice idea... good luck.
1977 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is serious at 27 Dec 2010 11:18:47 AM
No problem now, but two months ago I was in and around Perth, WA, and found the connection speed from my prepaid Vodafone 3G USB stick to be little better than dial-up. Service was acceptable in Collie and adequate in Margaret River, but the thing was totally useless in Perth.
27 Dec 2010 11:35:55 AM: Not actually a reply, since I posted the original, but just extra info.
When travelling through the SW corner of WA, I had a Vodafone 3G USB modem connecting via a NetComm wireless travel router. I also had a 3Gs iPhone & and a 3G iPad, both connected to Telstra. There were no problems with the Telstra coverage, but the Vodafone coverage was virtually non-existant in Perth.

We run our business mobiles through vodafone and it was the worst thing we ever did. Continually we receive drop outs, calls that never come through, voicemail which either never arrives or appears on the phone some many hours later. 3G receiption and coverage is very poor around the city and surrounding suburbs and a lot of the time i have to turn off 3G on my phone just to make a voice call. Vodafone has got to be the worst mobile network I have ever experienced and we will be moving our business phones to Telstra come Feb 2011 when our contract is up. Good luck vodafone you're going to need it.

1970 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Constant Call Drop Outs at 27 Dec 2010 11:17:09 AM
I have to hop around my house at night just to make the call connect. As soon as I find a place where there is sufficient signal (which is usually standing one foot on the top of my work desk and one foot on the top of the edge of my couch), I constantly endure 'fade outs' where the call drops. I am too embarrassed to keep telling the people that I am talking to that I keep missing huge chunks of what they are saying and just have to pretend that I heard everything/hope that they keep talking so as not to notice. It's bad Vodafone. Please address the issue.

They were overcharging me for four months. I called several times and was on hold for over half an hour before hanging up. Emailed the complaints page on their website one month ago and no response. Finally today I used the call back function on the automated telephone system. I did receive a call back and problem solved. It seems like they have engaged in some outsourcing because "Michael" who I spoke to was not from Australia. At least they are trying to solve the problem.

No reception, no service, no support, what network?
I was happy for many years with Vodafail, they provided a viable alternative to Optus & Telstra. But somewhere between being the new kid on the block and the failed service provider they are today, Vodafail forgot that they were in the telco space and started to ride on the back of 'you have contract, you will stay & you will pay'. With extreme wait times to speak with staff who have no skill or understanding of issues, an inability to make or receive calls (Hobart) I have left my mobile on permanent divert to my landline in hope that at least some people can get to my message bank 101. Unfortunately a contract is locking me in, hopefully with enough contracts coming up for renewal over the next 12 months, Vodafail will soon be a distant memory for all Australians and the other carriers will learn from this mess that Australian consumers are learning to stand up for their rights.

OTHERWISE I don't have any problems with it.

As a loyal and high-paying customer of twelve years with Vodafone I found the 'service' I received over the past two years to get increasingly worse. I moved to a Central QLD mining town for work and asked Vodafone to freeze my cap payments as there was no Vodafone range, so I couldn't use my phone at all. I got a Telstra pre-paid so I could be contactable whilst out of Voda range. I was told 'too bad' and was charged my monthly cap even though I couldn't use it. When I got back to the city I had VF customer service people calling up twice a week for two months to see if everything was ok, as they could clearly see a big-spender had stopped generating charges at all for four months. I told them I shouldn't have to pay for a service I can't use and they agreed to refund me the money charged. However they didn't and I then received abusive (that's right, abusive) calls from Indians demanding the payment I owed them. It then went a to a debt collector who called asking for my details 'on behalf of Vodafone'. Customer service fail - no rewards for loyalty and they broke my privacy. This is the 'nutshell' version of a very long-wonded and boring story. The moral is, I have switched to Telstra. I have range everywhere I go and so far, no abusive calls or communication breakdowns!

1952 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Severe fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:14:19 AM
It was some years back (in 2005) I left Vodafone from these same issues. Would wake up to no reception, then the next day would be back to full reception. After 2 months of this I left Vodafone, and got stung for early termination of my contract. Never going back to them again.
1951 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Lousy at 27 Dec 2010 11:14:03 AM
Attempting to upgrade contract, 6 weeks waiting for phones so far, three and a half hours waiting for customer service, two persons spoken to, one did nothing, the second told me the particular phone was obsolete, then that it had not been released then accused me of giving him incorrect information. The service drops calls and diverts incoming calls to message bank without ringing. The messages sometimes take hours to come through. I have these numbers for business hence reluctance to attempt a move, but am losing business through their non-service. Absolute B.S!
1950 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is What a bogus company at 27 Dec 2010 11:13:38 AM
I find my Vodaphone, works when it feels like it, cuts me off when it chooses and is so slow at downloading any data, you feel like you are on dial-up.
Why don't they just close down, they don't even offer a good after hours service. This is 2010 into 2011 and to me Vodaphone is a very weak service.

1947 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Is EGYPT still the Call-Centre? at 27 Dec 2010 11:13:23 AM
Is Egypt still the Call-Centre for Wireless Broadband Support, just as it was in 2008?
I distinctly remember this because I spoke to the Egyptian support agents in French in 2008, which half of Egyptians understand.
Or has it now all changed to a bunch of useless INDIANS in INDIA?

1943 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The epitome of failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:12:44 AM
Poor reception, poor data speeds, poor customer service. The only time they want to help you and are all over you is when they are trying to get you to upgrade to their rubbish service
1942 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is THE WORST! at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:53 AM
Okay I have been with three for a long time and had decent reception, but now my reception is sh*thouse! and when i do have reception i am roaming (in areas that clearly should be and are 3G areas!!!) and the fees for calling in a roaming area are actually ridiculous.
And also, whilst technically I am still with 'three' it was PROMISED to my mum that if she renewed her cap and signed up with Vodaphone the calls would be free (the free minutes)
however i still continue to be charged for calling my mum thats on Vodaphone from my vodaphone/3 sim, instead of the minutes being deducted from the free minutes as told!!! grrrr. stop charging me $3 for 2minute calls that you said are free?? with no fixing?? get your heads on!!!

27 Dec 2010 11:23:34 AM: You need to be on 3's new cap plans to get free calls to Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 12:45:17 PM: Ok your mum got what she was promised free calls to you and anyone else on 3 and Vodafone where as you who haven't resigned or changed your rate plan would be on your original terms and conditions and just get free minutes to people on 3 so maybe you should get your head on and actually think about it. You can do a rate plan change to the new terms and conditions without lengthening your contract term by making a call to customer care.
1941 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:44 AM
I have just read the article where a Vodafone refers fo poor network coverage for the last few weeks. This is completely inaccurate as the poor service has been going on for years. I was still charged for service I didn't receive and had to make several phonecalls to the customer service where I was given the run-around and told to switch the handset off and various other things that didn't work. I am now no longer with Vodafone for this reason.
1940 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Exteremely at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:39 AM
I commenced a business contract with them 15months ago to expereicne poor reception in main suburbs of sydney, snail speed data and and plenty of droped calls - i think it was almost 50% of my calls that kept dropping.
1939 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is really bad! at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:21 AM
I have been fighting Vodafone over the poor coverage and reception in metropolitan Adelaide. After leaving Optus for 17 years, I was promised better service and coverage at the same or lower cost. The Vodafone service is the worst I have ever experienced in Adelaide & Melbourne with costs far greater than Optus & Telstra. I have managed to at least my service over to Telstra and receive a great service.
I will provide any documentation to prove the disastrous 18 months I have endured with Vodafone!

1938 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:13 AM
I have stood on the corner of Bourke and Swanston in the middle of the city and have received "no service" numerous times. I also receive a total black out when I am the University of Melbourne which makes things hard as I study and work there.
1937 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:09 AM
I have a mobile broadband dongle that would be lucky to work at 100kbps. Most days I can't check email or even get a connection. I am stuck with them until September. To help my frustration I ended up getting a Telstra Dongle. Basically I am paying $40 a month for nothing. You suck Vodafone!
1936 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is the greatest! at 27 Dec 2010 11:10:31 AM
I am a small business owner in Perth WA and I rely heavely on my mobile phone to contact clients, receive calls and respond to calls. 90% of my calls are answered by Vodafone by "ERROR IN CONNECTION". I have complained to the agency without success. It is a nightmare to me.I am losing business in an already depressed market situation. I have asked Vodafone to release me from my contract and they refused. If there is a class action against them I WANT TO BE IN IT, definitely. Thanks a million for this website.
